*As always, these are my thoughts and connections Im making as I watch—I do not claim to know anything secret or for this to be taken as fact*
So we start out the Spotify Video with a pan out of the whole scene which is essentially Taylor-World with her as the centerpiece—song choice is Cruel Summer which is heavily Kaylor coded
The next scene is these two people in love in what we find out later is Taylor’s eye. Shes wearing Miss Americana and the other person is a taller woman with her face covered by leaves—why would her face need to be covered? The infamous red scarf is present which has now become a symbol for Taylor’s affections (IBYTAM video)
Next we see the clock moving closer to Midnight and a woman dressed in lavendar answering the phone upside down. Shes got clock earrings on and seems to be real excited about whatever she’s talking about
Next a close up of the Lover House burning in Taylors hand—this symbolism is so important to Taylor it’s *the* thing she has in her hand—could’ve been anything but it’s that
Pan out and we get another tall face covered (again why can’t we see who these people are?) stranger step into frame next to the Sunset and Vine street crossing—a Gorgeous reference, which is also heavily Kaylor coded
We switch to seeing the clock again move closer to Midnight and hear the lyrics “I’m always waiting for you to be waiting below” as we see this gentlemen covered in clocks checking both his watches—is it time yet?? Is it happening?? I believe the people in yellow represent us in this fandom constantly checking our watches asking WHEN TAYLOR
Next we get an Angel / Devil scene where the dice seem to add up to 89 and 13 at different times. What interests me more is that the Angel first aims for the dice—she’s gonna kill The Game—and at the last second changes her mind and decides nope she’s gonna take down the Devil who is playing the Game
After the Angel presumably takes out the Devil, the clock finally strikes Midnight and an ensuing earthquake appears shaking everyone up—this is wild to me—once we meet her after Midnight she knows the world will be shaken by her truth. But don’t worry! Tree is there measuring the aftershocks and noting how TS The Business is impacted
Next we get shots of a girl with her face covered playing guitar, 2 people fishing, and people dancing in the snow in a cave—if yall have any connections with those add on, nothing super jumped out to me. I DID love the Fox peaking out of the KT boot though
Then we see another person in yellow trying to see through the leaves in the snowglobe—again I think this represents this fandom. There’s also another woman in Orange, with her face covered, sitting next to a dog that resembles Karlie’s dog
And my fave part where it all comes together, the closing shot of all the small people in Taylor World is again focused on the 2 lovebirds—it’s revealed they are in Taylor’s eye, and she winks as we hear “I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you”

Adventure: Cracking the Snowglobe
As the dark closes in and the cold weighs heavy on us on all, it’s important to remember that there is light and warmth to be had, if only we seek it out, and share it with others. Stories round the fire, good food shared with those we love, songs of hope sung in defiance of the bleak, all these things give the soul the tender it needs to burn on through the winter until the days begin to grow long again.
Setup: Decades after retiring from a busy life of adventuring, the local wizard Hypatia has fallen into a depressed bout of isolation, raising a barrier of magical force around her manor in the hopes of keeping out distractions while she works on yet another project she hasn’t the energy to complete. Her old friend Moroz the outrider is having none of it, tired of being brushed off every when he visits and concerned about Hypatia’s wellbeing, he’s journeyed around gathering presents from all their old friends and allies as a reminder of the good times they spent together, and a symbol that people still care about her. His grand display of affection has been somewhat delayed when a gang of hobgoblins ambushed him on the road, stealing the majority of the gifts and leaving him for dead.
When the party stumble across the scene of the ambush and follow the scatteres of red snow (and Toboggan, the distressed reindeer), they find Moroz crawling his way out of a ditch, alive, pissed off, and in need of some holiday helpers.
Background: It has been some score of years since the wizard Hypatia walked the roads of the realm with her friends, using her magic and more often her wits to mend what’d gone astray. She settled, as she had always wanted, into the life of a country wizard, persuing her own studies in a manor just far enough from town that neither she or the locals would bother one another unless the cause was worthwhile. While every shy accademic is due their alone time, decades and distance have not been good for Hypatia. More and more she has sunk into the lony existance she has made for herself, losing the strength to keep up correspondance with old allies, to visit the market for supplies, to even leave the little island she calls home. She says she is working, but her work suffers too, the grand tretisies and formulations she hoped to write stagnate along with her mind, and frustration at being unable to focus on one thing she was good at has inspired her to cut herself off further, raising a globe of magic around her home and denying all visitors.
Moroz knows what it means to be alone. The dwarven outrider has spent most of his life carrying messages between settlements and outposts for weeks at a time. He also knows how dangerous that loneliness can be, and that a life without other people in it is a life without hope, and the winter is not kind to those without hope. The last time he saw Hypatia, when she came to turn him away from her door and raise her barrier, Moroz saw a look in her eyes that reminded him of travellers he’d found stranded in the snow, the look of slowly forgetting your reasons to live. He knows he must remind her, or he won’t see her again come the thaw.
Adventure Hooks:
The party could encounter Moroz on any wintry road (A mournfully bellowing Reindeer is one hell of a hook), but If you wanted to run this adventure as a oneshot, consider having the heroes be part of a search party specifically sent out to look for him after a snowstorm delays the local mail delivery.
The hobs have taken their loot and fallen back to a deserted fortress half buried in snow. While most of what they’ve stolen are keepsakes destined to be sold off or tossed into the fire if the party doesn’t intervene, a few of the more interesting presents have some wizz-bang magical powers. Hopefully Hypatia doesn’t mind some of her gifts being used as powerups to help the heroes survive the dungeon.
After they’ve recovered the majority of the gifts, Moroz and the party still have to break into the wizard’s warded fortress. The globe of force is highly impressive, but careful perception could reveal a few careful weaknesses. There’s a boathouse left abandoned on the isle that happens to contain a forgotten tunnel leading into the manor proper (which just so happens to have a local river monster hibernating inside of it). An eagle eyed scout might likewise notice that the dusting of snow on top of the globe isn’t uniform, and that there’s a thin spot riiiight above the manor’s chimney in order to let out the smoke.
Once inside the party have other hurdles to face: the phantom servants that manage the grounds are also programmed to repel intruders… but they don’t seem to notice the sinister, shadowy entities that now lurk in the Manor’s unlit halls. They’ll find Hypatia in a sorry state, having spent several days staring into the yawning mouth of a dark portal she doesn’t quite remember calling up. After spending so long cut off, so long failing to achieve anything with the work that gave her purpose, despair overtook the wizard’s heart and the shadowfell called to her… she was not that long from answering it when the party intervened. They chose to care, and they ended up saving her life, and the life of her friend besides.
After their tearful reunion Moroz decides to stay to help take care of his old friend, but extends an invitation to the party: The winter holidays are coming up and it is better to spend it with friends, perhaps they could help him decorate the manor, cook a couple meals, maybe head into town for supplies and get caught up in a snowball fight. When the Festivities are done, Hypatia will extend the invitation even further: being alone is evidently bad for her, and she has so much space in her home it’d be a shame not to give the party a place to stay every time they stop in. The party will have a new home base and a new reason to go out adventuring: what with Moroz retiring for the time being and needing someone capable to take over his role as outrider.

just some things i love about the XMAU triumvirate
RAVEN
she is literally The Reason the timeline is different and she is the fulcrum of the changes and is the most important person, i'm not remotely kidding
I really really hate the trope of "smart, level-headed female character who is too good for these dumb men" but Raven's arc from the first movie to the fourth actually justifies it. she starts off lost and stuck in Charles' shadow in XMFC, is emotional and confused and angry and alone in DOFP, is a free agent and a very very reluctant hero in XMA, and by the time she reached DP she's so fucking wise and mature, it's actually CHARACTER PROGRESSION
she did need a push at the start, and when someone helps her grow emotionally, she actually repays that by returning the favor. Erik gave her a way to live without Charles and helped her learn pride in herself, and in return she's the one to be Erik's better angel in XMA after Charles royally screws that shit up. even just the invocation of her is the thing that wakes Erik up from his rage spiral in DP.
likewise, she is the one who over and over and over again voices the Charles You Fuck-Up chorus against Charles. in XMA she calls him tf out for his rose-colored glasses because she's out in the thick of it, she's the boots on the ground where he is not. in DP, she drags his ass for his respectability politics and ego-stroking, and she's fucking right.
taking a character who literally had to hide their identity for most of her life and then making her a literal hero-- all of the younger mutants look up to her, her appearance on TV changed everyone's lives, Ororo literally brings her up the second anyone glances at her painting of Raven. and the clear discomfort Raven feels about that, having tripped into being... kind of what she herself needed growing up, and her complicated feelings about it.
SHE IS LITERALLY THE PERSON CHARLES THINKS HE IS. she is a symbol of the worth of mutants, she is the foot soldier who rescues people in danger and brings them to safety, and when someone is off the deep end and NEEDS to hear the right thing, Charles fucks it up EVERY TIME but Raven doesn't.
she's vulnerable she's a bitch she's a diplomat she's a smuggler she's serving cunt she's got a bigger dick than you she's the ultimate girldad
her makeup and prosthetics in DP are genuinely beautiful, they finally figured out a solution for JLaw's apparently allergy to most techniques and she looks so cool
Ranking Amongst Jean Grey's Dads: Best Dad. Tough love, turns a blind eye when you're doing shots and having a party, probably drives a motorcycle, turned Ororo queer. Will show up to bail you out of jail if you get a trouble but will only ground you for a week.
ERIK
might be the greatest character of all time? he's really high up there, y'all.
lets just lay it out: he's a Jewish holocaust survivor who speaks at least four languages and works as a nazi hunter and is the reason the bullet curved (he was trying to save Kennedy actually). his Magical Girl Power-Up Sequence is tearing Auschwitz apart with his powers, he can control the magnetic fields on the entire planet, he floats in a Sad Snowglobe Of Magnetic Angst. he also becomes a foundry worker with ginger scruff and flannel shirts who sings polish lullabies to his daughter. he also is called in to talk to invading American soldiers and basically tell them Come Back With A Warrant and is savvy enough to avoid letting said soldiers get hurt on his land bc he knows the political ramifications. all of that is FACTUAL.
The first time we hear him speak English, his voice drops into that chasm-deep baritone and I literally went "oh no"
This Bitch Rehabilitated Himself. We joke about how Magneto Was Right but the reality is more complicated. He is certainly more right than Charles, but the gap in his ideology is intersectionality, which is wild given his origin story is Gddamn Nazi Hunter and when he decides to quit The Revolution, he becomes a laborer. All of the elements of his past, warrior to lab rat to revolutionary to dad to laborer, they all synthesize into what he finally becomes. He's a leader who is just as comfortable citing legal precedent and playing spymaster as he is constructing houses.
Punct: "Arc, do you just have a thing for public servants?" Me: "Shut the fuck up. Yes. Shut up."
The sheer physicality of how he uses his powers, how when he is tearing the planet apart, he is serene and calm and when he's in one-on-one combat he's physical and full of motion and feels like he's been doing this for his entire life.
Look: the fight on the train in DP is hot as hell. also it works as an encapsulation of his morals. when threatened, he is ruthless and efficient and brutal. when he's the last man standing between Jean and the villain, he seals the way behind him and prepares to die with a smile and a quip. Erik decides what needs to be done and does it, and if its a thankless, inglorious death, he's ready for it.
The entire dynamic of Raven and Erik. The respect, the love, the fact they definitely fucked and that's behind them but it was important to them both. In DOFP, Erik tries to kill Raven to save the timeline, and the moment her death isn't needed, he goes to her like "Yep, I did that because I thought it was right. Now its not. Here's a bunch of information you need to know." AND IT'S THAT FUCKING SIMPLE. The way Raven views Erik as almost a known quantity, someone reliable and predictable, the trust and understanding they have, SLAYS ME.
HE IS THE ONE WHO HAS TO REHABILITATE CHARLES XAVIER. In the end, it's Charles who has fucked up his life so thoroughly that he needs love and guidance to find his way again, and it's Erik who shows up and is determined he will take Charles home and accepts the responsibility of that decision.
Ranking Amongst Jean Grey's Dads: Second Best Dad, and that's including the time he lowkey tried to murder her. He's STILL second best dad. He's like the dad who didn't get custody in the divorce but when something Bad happens, the kids go to him because they trust him to help them. He can and will help you bury the bodies. He's also easier to be emotional with bc if you get angry, he's ready for it, unlike your Other Dad. And if you need to cry, he'll let you cry on him without asking you over and over "are you alright darling, do need anything, you know if you wanted to speak to a therapist i know seventeen of them" like your Other Dad, no Erik's just like "okay?" and doesn't make it a federal fucking issue. also raven probably has a motorcycle but erik definitely has a motorcycle.
Charles Fucking Xavier
the fakest bitch in the world, the self-loathing king, the addict who can't stop hurting himself, the martyr of martyrs. MCAVOY DID NOT NEED TO BRING THIS MUCH GAME TO THIS ROLE AND YET HE DID.
what makes the XMAU timeline so good is that they somewhere decided "actually, Charles is a liar" and he's not kind of a liar, he's THE liar, and it all pays off in Dark Phoenix when his carefully constructed world comes crashing down around his head.
He never understood how much he loved and needed Raven until she was gone. When she's gone and he finally recognizes who she is, sees her as more than his ward, it's the moment he most needed her. Charles is, at his core, even more than the blunt force metaphor of DOFP, an addict. He needs people to temper him and to tell him no. Left with Hank (basically living which his drug dealer and enabler), he becomes a bitter, fucked up mess who has lost all the joy in his life. He goes from the guy who is SO EXCITED TO SEE NEW MUTATIONS to calling Peter "a pain in the arse," he's just SO cold and lost and bitter and it colors everything about him.
Erik and Raven had this thing he wants, this certainty and understanding of who they each are. When he finally becomes The Professor in XMA, it feels like a pure performance. He can't drink and drug himself to death in the new world Raven has created, so he is going to be the Professor and he has all these little habits and bits of patter that feel constructed to create this shell for him to fill out and become.
AND THIS PRETTY MUCH IS CONFIRMED IN DP because Charles can't do it Erik's way and can't do it Raven's way, so he needs to win in his way, this perfect PR performance of Professor Charles Xavier who can fill your mind with "Help is on the way" at any moment. He will make the world love them because he doesn't know how to handle any alternative. But its the same knife's edge he's been balanced on since the beach in Cuba, the same edge he's been balancing on since Raven was on TV pointing a gun at Trask, the same edge he falls off in DP when he loses Raven, loses Jean, and just like that, the entire world decides to put him and the people he loves into camps. It was ALWAYS right under his feet, and his tightrope walk was always doomed to fail because to keep it going, he would have to sacrifice anyone and everyone who couldn't keep up the same facade he does.
Because Charles is angry. My gd, he is angry. YOU WANT WHAT I HAVE? YOU WANT TO FEEL WHAT I FEEL?!
He lost Raven and blows up at Erik to try to blame him only to get told tf off for abandoning everyone he was meant to care for. He lost Erik because Erik would not become the right kind of charismatic leader and he left Erik in prison for a fucking decade. He lost Raven again for ignoring the realities outside of Westchester, ignoring vicious violent injustices. He lost Erik again because his secondary mutation is the ability to say the wrong thing at the right time. He lost Erik again when he became such a fake-bitch that Erik moved to a remote island just to get away from TV news and magazines lmao. And he lost Jean because he's a liar, even if he's a liar for love. ALL OF HIS CAREFUL PLANS AND NARRATIVES FAIL IN THE END. THEY RENAMED THE SCHOOL AND SENT HIM OUT ON A LONG SABBATICAL TO FIGURE HIS SHIT OUT.
but i love him. he's a complete fuck-up who needs to have people around him to stop him, but I love him because he's wanted to be a dad when he was 12 years old, he finally learns how to say he was wrong, he sits at Jean's bedside and comforts her when she's scared, he non-consensually overwrote jean's memory. he did it to cut out the fact her father hated her and blamed her for her mother's death. he believes in Jean and trusts her in a way only Raven and Scott do in the end. Jean puts him through one of the most grotesque, de-humanizing things imaginable and he still immediately offers himself up to her to look into his heart and trusts her, still trusts her when he should not
he's a fuck-up and loses everything for what is without a doubt his mistakes. and he lives through it. so he has to keep going. and Erik's going to help him.
he once (falsely) accused Erik of taking Raven and abandoning him. in the end, Erik shows up and refuses to leave him. because Charles is a fuckup but the love is there and will always be there. Because I think Charles is only able to hurt people so much because he loves them so much. Anger is just love left out and gone to vinegar.
Ranking Amongst Jean Grey's Dads: Third Best, Second Worst Dad. Gd, he sucks so much. He got Raven killed, he lucked out of not getting Jean killed, he gets kicked out of his own fucking school, even Hank the guy who was his live-in drug dealer for years calls him to the mat. Still better than John Grey, who decided his eight year old child was a murderer and handed him off to a rich stranger and never looked back. Fuck that guy.
anyway you reached the end so i'm here to tell you that the best XMAU movie is DOFP. then Dark Phoenix. then XMFC. then Apocalypse. yes, I'm serious.

i’m so thankful for all of the girls you loved before, but i love you more
Today had been a dream. An absolute dream. It almost didn’t feel real. Today was the day you married the love of your life; Matthew Murdock. Your head rested against his chest with your arms weaved around his shoulders, while his arms were wrapped tightly around your waist and his face was nuzzled into the side of your neck. The two of you glided effortlessly around the dance floor together, enjoying your first dance together as husband and wife. Even though there were a ton of eyes watching the two of you, it still felt like it was just you and Matt in the room.
You still couldn’t believe that you had gotten so lucky. That this magnetic force of a man had chosen you to bind himself to, legally and spiritually, for the rest of your lives. Out of all the girls that he had loved before, you were the one he had given the key to his heart to, and you wore it proudly around your left finger in a symbol of love and a sacred promise. Matt had given you everything you had ever dreamed of. A loyal and dedicated partner. A sense of security and belonging. A home, a real home.
Today he had given you his last name, and you were determined to give him a lifetime of happiness in return.
You couldn’t help but hug onto his body even tighter as an overwhelming flurry of emotions swirled around in your head like delicate flakes in a snowglobe.

You could feel his lips stretch into a smile against your neck, and he tightened his arms around your body, pulling you further into the safety and comfort of his embrace.

By the time he carried you past the threshold of your shared apartment, you couldn’t keep your hands to yourself. Your fingers sought out every inch of his skin you could find, and you kissed him fervently as Matt chuckled against your lips. He carried you in his strong arms to the bedroom, gently setting you down on the edge of it as he bent over you, placing his hand on your cheek softly, gazing down in the direction of your face while his honey eyes shined in complete adoration.
“We don’t have to rush, sweetheart. We have all night…and the rest of our lives.”
“I just…want to show you how much I love you.”
Matt felt his heart swell at those words, and he shook his head slowly as his lips parted into that dazzling grin that made your knees weak.
“You already have, pretty girl. I’d say today was a pretty big show of it.”
Letting out a breathless laugh, you reached up to gently grab onto his tie to tug him down closer, biting down on your bottom lip gently as he took the hint and crawled over your body. You couldn’t help but sigh softly as you cradled his jaw in your hand, leaning in to brush your nose against his.
“I…I know there were a lot of girls that loved you before me. But Matty…I love you more. I feel so lucky that you chose me too. I just…wanna show you that. I wanna make you feel that. I wanna teach you how forever feels.”
Brushing your lips ever so slightly against his, you slowly pulled the tie from the knot around his neck, gently pushing his suit jacket over his broad shoulders before your nimble fingers released every button on his shirt. Matt eagerly followed your lead, reaching his hand down to the hem of your wedding dress to slip underneath, dragging the soft fabric up past your thighs and igniting a blazing trail up your skin with his heated touch.
Every moment in your life had led up to this one. Every flutter of butterflies in your stomach when you felt the first telltale signs of falling in love. Every moment you spent fighting on the phone over a dagger into your heart, falling into an endless cycle of making up just to break up. Every sleepless night you spent crying until two am when it was finally over for good, and another selfish boy had broken your heart.

Y/n scratched the last item on her list and continued searching for the rest of the items she needed for Christmas at her house, this time she was going to spend Christmas with her parents and her friends and so, she was determined to decorate the house.
As she was moving her cart from the aisle, her cart bumped into another cart.
"Oh, I'm sorry," said Y/n and turned to look up at the person she bumped into and found a pair of grey eyes staring into hers. Those eyes which gave her comfort, those eyes gave her life, those eyes which she fell for.
"Oh, I'm sorry, are you okay?" asked a young boy with blond hair to the young Y/n who fell after bumping into him while walking around the hallway of Hogwarts.
"I'm fine," said Y/n in her sweet and cute voice, and as she looked up, she saw a handheld for her to take to get up. She held the boy's hand and stood up, dusting her clothes.
"It's fine," said the grey-eyed man with blonde hair, slowly smiling at her. Oh, what would Y/n do to have him smile at her forever?
"It's been long," said Draco, who pulled his cart towards him, "Yes, it has," said Y/n, who scratched her neck, "So, how have you been?" asked Draco, "I've been, fine," said Y/n, trying to get out of this conversation.
"That's great to hear, well better be going, it's Christmas after all and I have to finish my shopping list," said Draco who held his list to show her, Y/n could easily recognize the handwriting, it was no way Draco's, but someone she loathed, someone who took all the happiness from her hands.
"Draco just spit it out! I am tired of you lying to me!" yelled Y/n, "What do you want me to say Y/n? That I like Astoria?" asked Draco, frustrated, "Yes Draco, I am tired of you telling me that you like me, I know you don't, you can just tell me this and make this easy for me and for you" Y/n said.
Draco's voice broke as he said, "Y/n, don't get me wrong, I like you, but-but it's just, I don't know how, I just fell for her" the line broke her heart, and a tear slipped down her face as she said, "It's fine Draco, I am glad you told me this" and left the room, just like she left his life, forever.
Astoria's handwriting, her neat and cursive handwriting was hard to miss, and the feelings rushed in all over again, the love she had for Draco never died, even though she tried, she could never forget him, he was always hers, but she was never his.
As Draco left with his cart, Y/n looked at her Christmas list she made when she was with Draco, the matching bracelets she wanted to buy for him and her, symbolizing their love for each other, little did she know back then that he would fall for someone else, someone better, someone who would get his love forever.
Y/n grabbed her things from the shopping list and paid for the items as fast as she could, she had to get out of there, she couldn't stay under his presence any longer, all the feelings came flooding back to her and she couldn't hold it in any longer.
She then left the shop and rushed towards her car, and then drove to her house, she still loved him no matter what happened, she always loved him, but he, he loved someone else and lived happily.
The snowglobe she had kept on her car as a decoration had a snowflake in it, it was a gift from Draco when they used to date, Y/n had still kept it in hopes he would someday come back to her, even though she wouldn't say it out loud, but she hoped he would come back but he never did. Instead, he lived a life of his own happiness.
Y/n pulled down the car window and grabbed the snowglobe and threw it out as tears streamed down her eyes, she had finally done it, she had finally thrown him out of her life just like he had, she still loved him and had a special place for Draco in her heart, but now, he no longer is a part of her life, not anymore.

Phight Club: Round 3
“They’ve got everything. T-shirts! Magnets! Pins!” Tucker waved his spoils in his friends’ faces. Both frowned, unimpressed. “What?”
“It’s a tourist trap.” Sam deadpanned. “Everything’s cheap and made with slave labor.”
“All with Phantom’s name or symbol.” Danny hissed. “Or my face.”
“It’s not that bad. Look.” Tucker waved him off. “There’s snow globes. You love those.”
Danny side-eyed the display. He did love snow globes…
“Okay, these aren’t that bad. There’s Ember, Skulker. What’s this one?” Danny picked up the object…. And nearly dropped it. “What the hell!”
Tucker grabbed it. “It can’t be that-” He shoved it away. “That’s your disembodied head!”
Sure enough, it was Phantom’s head. And just Phantom’s head, facing forward with wide blank eyes staring.
“That’s horrible.” Sam said.
The trio finished exploring, luckily finding nothing else as horrifying as that cursed snowglobe. They left, Danny’s sister passing as they did.
When he got home, Danny found a package on his bed, note attached.

Curious brow raised, Danny opened the bag and pulled out the present. He almost screamed. There, in his hand, the plastic facsimile of his own face stared with its dead eyes.

god the more i think abt it the more exhausted i get by the gender politics of ted lasso.
like god i do genuinely think that rebecca's arc in s1 is one of the best depictions of a mean + cruel woman ive ever seen on TV specifically bc it manages to thread the needle so well? like they never tilt her balance too much and doom her to being either totally fucked up + evil OR totally soft and sweet and harmless. and ted's 'divorce makes u crazy' response to her apology STILL makes me crazy wrt the sheer. understanding and empathy there, and she's just. given so much more depth than ive come to expect, especially for an ensemble cast sitcom w a (then) p short run time.
but my fucking god. we literally don't learn a fucking thing about michelle. im pretty sure the one (1) concrete thing we know about her comes in the fucking finale, and it's that she's a teacher for... something. the two most important people in ted's life and we don't know anything abt them! they're literally just empty symbols representing the importance of Family™, and that vacancy does nothing but weigh ted's storyline down!
like, i liked michelle's episode/storyline in s1, bc the blinding novelty of a woman instigating a divorce not being the Actual Devil, as well as a just. generally very empathetic + nuanced take on how divorce shakes out between two ppl who really care for each other, was so 'WAIT TV CAN DO THIS??' that i felt satisfied with that being Her Arc™. divorce happens, life happens, people fall out of love, and it hurts but its ultimately okay. the show, at the time, was ultimately abt a football club and how caring abt that football club helped everyone around it.
but then the show sticks around, and her continued absence just... raises a lot of questions? how did the conversation abt ted going overseas happen? what conversations did they have abt henry? how long term was it intended to be? did money really not factor into it all? like it's one thing for a character's backstory to be vague when it's not really the focus of attention (s1 was ultimately rebecca's story before anyone else's), but when it's the load bearing stone of their '''''''arc''''''' in s3...????
like. god. and then it fucking infects every other woman on the show!
sassy + nora? well sure we'll give you a softball - you can have one (1) scene where a woman is able to resolutely and firmly reject a man asking her out without immediately being seen as cruel or gameplayey (not that the audience will see it that way! she's already a lecherous temptress for them!), but neither of them will ever be able to speak to rebecca onscreen again, even after the heart-wrenching scenes in s1 CLEARLY establishing them as a beating heart of rebecca's arc.
shandy? nope, don't even think abt her motivations/drives, just forget her. simi? LMAOOO imagine a black woman getting a personality beyond righteous anger. jack? three-four episodes, and we learn so little abt her that her conflict with keeley - which SHOULD'VE have been a huge emotional beat - just feels like a kick in the teeth (and while, yes, i absolutely agree that in a real world context, jack's rejection of keeley would be largely motivated by class, in Ted Lasso Land™ rebecca is just as rich - if not richer? - and we're never once encouraged to interrogate her priorities).
barbara's the one that really makes me miserable, bc i feel like on a show with less run time, she could've played REALLY well. she's a great contrast to keeley, has an amazing delivery, and the scene where keeley + her first discuss the snowglobes shows that she has the potential for some really moving vulnerability + pathos. but instead they give SO many of keeley's scenes to characters who ultimately get written out, so when barbara stays it's like... okay? sure? like, i was so stoked that barbara survived the Mass Exodus of side characters that i didn't wanna look the gift horse in the mouth but... wasn't the last thing we saw of her and keeley's relationship like. general resentment + distrust abt the shandy debacle? when did that improve? how???
i don't think i'll ever have enough mental real estate to explain how disappointed keeley + rebecca's 'arcs' in s3 made me, and at least there's the saving grace that. virtually no one other than jamie got a coherent arc this season, so at least it was on some levels an egalitarian screw up. but fuck dude. keeley was just forced to react to bad things that were happening to her, and we got to see her do her job (which, unbelievably, does actually involve things other than being an awkward manager!) precisely one (1) time.
i even like rebecca's arc on paper - i think it's really cool to see a character backslide so intensely in terms of obsessing over and struggling to come to terms w a past relationship, especially an abusive one, bc like. yeah! that shit sticks with you for longer than a season! and beyond that, seeing her regain her sense of self and what SHE actually gives a shit about was oftentimes just as sweet as s1. but her scenes were poorly connected, and she had to carry WAY too much of a burden as the Resident Speech Giver for any of her internal characterisation to make sense. like, sorry, but it's kind of hard to believe a character's Going Through It™ when they have to spent near 100% of their screen time giving Take It From Me, Kid, speeches. and then she's not even given a real opportunity TO fuck up + sabotage her relationships, even when she starts getting really weird w ted! it's all just so meaningless and like nothing that she does is ever going to matter. she never speaks to zava again, we don't get to see her interact w bex or kate, her pleas to ted get COMPLETELY shut down...
but the thing that REALLY makes me sick is this complete lack of interiority absolutely butchers the characters of jade + jane, who are otherwise RIFE with potential. like, jade is a completely unflinching, unapologetic asshole to nate + his family, and that's never interrogated. even in Sitcom Land™, it's more than reasonable to view jade's actions as racist, especially when she doesn't give the same treatment to others (at least not as i recall? honestly i usually watch the taste of athens scenes while peeking out behind my hands, so i could 100% be wrong here). and yet, suddenly, and completely inexplicably, she's charmed by nate. she wants to give him the time of day. she finds him attractive, and wants to date him, and generally take control of his life and force him into a decision that is literally the exact opposite of what he expressed wanting to do. except even that LAST thing isn't allowed to be interrogated, bc god FORBID a woman is enough of a fully realised creation to actually be culpable of the terrible shit they do!
and fucking jane??? beard's so head-over-heels for this woman that the emotional abuse + extremely controlling tendencies don't even make him bat an eye, and we don't get to know anything about her? she's literally just the suggestion of an alluring woman! good at sex! good at chess! fuck you if you wanna know more, even though the show ENDLESSLY hits you over the head with how painful their relationship is for beard - beard who is given virtually no other storyline. like, i literally can't read brendan's refusal to label jane as abusive as anything other than like. that bio-essentialism shit where ppl 'women are better than men <3' so hard that they end up genuinely and wholeheartedly arguing that someone's sex defines their morals - or worse, that their sex is a deciding factor in determining whether someone's actions are good or bad. not context, but a legitimate 'add points if woman, take away points if man' variable.
like that's so feminism 101 it's legitimately almost worse than nothing. that's like getting as far as 'hey so you know how we're all inundated with both implicit + explicit messaging abt what is Valued and Good for women vs men to-' before shoving ur earplugs in and going 'if you are oppressed by society we'll automatically stamp a 'good person' label on ur head and now we don't have to think abt any of our biases + internalised beliefs ever again <333'. the most useless and fucking pointless stand against the patriarchy ever, especially coming from the same show that ENDLESSLY slots characters into the 'loving gf/wife' archetype and then give them Literally Nothing Else. my comrades you have literally just done madonna/whore 2: oops all madonnas! this is not liberation!!!! this is a miserable cage!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to piggy back here on @emberc flower theory- you might wanna check this post out before reading mine.
So @emberc noticed that pink roses symbolise (amongst other things) Simon's love for Wille. But there is more to flowers theory! Have a look at this shot from bts:
In ep 6 'I love you scene' there are pink flowers in the background between Wilmon. Thanks to this close up from bts we clearly see there is not one, but two bunches of flowers: roses- symbol of Simon's love- AND lilies.
As per @emberc post, we see a pink rose in a snowglobe in S1 ep4 opening, which symbolised Simon's love for Wille. The rose is plastic, in a glass globe. When Simon saw Wille on TV did he feel like Wille is almost artificial, unreal? It must have been an odd moment for Simon to see Wille on TV. Both Wille and Simon's feelings for him that moment were almost unreal, unreachable, trapped behind the glass. That is rose reference covered.
So why are there lilies alongside roses in S2 scene then? How about another throwback to the same scene sequence from S1:
White lilies were in the church during Erik's funeral! Lilies are a symbol of Wille's love for Simon! They were there with him all along. But Wille's lilies are white. They have no colour, no intensity. They are distant from Wille, just like he feels distant from Simon. They are somewhere in the background, just a little forgotten detail of this overwhelming scene. They are overshadowed by Wille's grief and his growing sense of responsibility. Knowing all of that, this shot below is even more heartbreaking, because Wille walks away from the lilies. He leaves them being and to follows his brother, to continue Erik's legacy. He decided he needs to leave Simon in the past and walk away from him. (😭)
Fast forward to S2 ep6, in this beautiful scene, roses and lilies are there in the background to symbolise their mutal love for each other. Both bunches of flowers are bright, juicy, vivid. Wille's lilies are now pink, just like Simon's roses. They are blossoming beautifully. What is also important, both bunches stand next to each other, on the same level, displayed proudly and beautifully for everyone to see, in broad daylight. Just like their love.
Final bonus sidenote! Coming back to s1 flowers, in the scene with Simon there is only one flower. His feelings have only just started to flourish, they are yet to be developed into a beautiful full bunch, but look at the intensity of the colour! The rose is bright pink. The feelings are only starting to grow, but they are so intense. And Wille's lilies, there is a whole big bunch of them, just like his feelings. He already knows how much Simon means to him. At that moment the flowers have no colour, the feelings are faded, but it is there. Wille was was already aware how much he likes Simon. In S2 Wille might fell first, but Simon fell as hard. And in the final shot of s2, both bunches are as intense in colour and fully developed. They are finally on the same page.

„I’ve never loved a show like this show“ ohhh I feel you
Young Royals is so beautiful. The way they go about telling this perfectly beautiful love story is just supreme. The symbolism in the small things like clothing choices, the snowglobe is just wonderful. The lighting and the cinematography is absolutely gorgeous especially in season 1. The way the story unfolds over that first season where we see Wille struggles with tradition and his role as royalty, how he starts to fall for Simon but is so scared. And then his brother dies, putting the weight of the whole crown literally on his head and causing him further fear and anxiety. And then he thinks, for one moment maybe he can have this even in this society that is so desperate to form fake attachments. He wants something real, with Simon "Everything is fake, but I like you and that is not fake" and then he let's himself have this incredible moment of Intimacy and vulnerability, that takes the audiences breath away, only to have it be reiterated that yes the eyes of the nation and even the world will always be on you, sometimes even in your most private of moments. His struggle after the leak of the video and his struggle with the betrayal by August is so powerful. And Simon's arc, figuring out his place in a society that rejects him even when his love for the one at the top of the ladder is so strong. And season 2, exploring Wille's passionate rage and how his desire for Simon and a different world propels him forward. It's such good story telling and I am immensely attached to these pretty characters, all of them, including the ones that are more flawed and complex. Is there a word for a piece of media that comes into your life and fundamentally changes certain elements of you? Young Royals has entered that space for me.

Super A Junzhe
Back for some promotional period Junzhe! This set was inspired by Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun's March 2021 filming of the variety show Chao A (also known as Ace Actress).
You can watch the two episodes they're in on YouTube with English subs in high quality here: episode 1 and episode 2, and I highly recommend it. There are also some English translations of the interview segments too that are even better since it's all them all the time.
I love this show appearance for many, many reasons, but first among all those is that Ace Actress has one of my all time favorite interview question and answer:

Thank you Zhehan, I could not agree more (and if I could, I would)! The fact that he goes on to cleverly and affectionately roast him for his singing is quintessential Zhehan, and let's be honest, Zhang Laoshi is already perfect in our hearts as well.
Speaking of perfect, Zhehan's beret outfit (reportedly styled by Gong Jun) is absolutely adorable.
SO MANY GOOD PICS from this, as well as the BTS, and the related interview. They're so comfortable and happy and smiley at each other, and sticking together the whole time. So good.
This set has an extra cute bonus for us - a tiny Luffy! Luffy is of course Zhehan's French Bulldog, named after the character from his much-loved anime One Piece.
Luffy gets to spin around and show off his angles too! This is a nice shot of the little orange pin on Zhehan's blazer. You can also see Junjun's gardenia flower on his shirt - of course neither of them had the orange and the gardenia pins in their outfits on the show, this is just the CP (couple pair) symbols for the fans.
Rosy cheeks and sweet faces. Full points to all those to whom Beret Han reigns supreme, they're not wrong.

The artwork on the fig card is too cute. The paw rug! the orange tabby cat! the roses, the apple, Junjun's fan and Zhehan's sword, and of course all the oranges peeking in. Love it!

her songwriting style in YAIL (i'm sure there's a more technical name for this) being like snapshots of moments, it's got such an evocative quality, and that song has ALWAYS made me cry (i used to consistently skip it for this reason, it's only since 2020 that i've really listened to it more often), there's something in her observation of that love, her longing, that aches even though the outlook is beautiful. bittersweet is certainly apt. her using the symbolism of the snowglobe with the lover house speaks to how she held that image in her mind.
a lot of even her hopefully tender love songs are laced with that sense of impending melancholy. so it goes... ("she did look back, and I love her for that, because it was so human. So she was turned into a pillar of salt. So it goes." taylor looking back in her music is so human too.) if the story's over why am i still writing pages? because taking your broken heart and turning it into art is the way to survive it.

It’s beautiful but sad. The industry made him into a symbol so if thats what you’re going to see and say then why would he ever say anything different. It was a traditional symbol that blended the female and the male symbols together… like unity in one, I love this so much. Like this is her showing you the illicit affair and high infidelity she has talked about? ->The “Red Room” can also be a nod to Taylor’s connection to the 50 Shades of Gray franchise. “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” was the lead single (12/9/2016) for the second installment 50 Shades Darker which released on 2/10/2017.

Are we out of the woods yet? Who is WE? Her and her lover. Or her and the memories she has of this person and they only come out at night when she gives into the vices that she feels like she has to use to show who she really is? She said they are all bored waiting for trains that aren’t coming, and she also said how romantic it was to be stranded. Is she safe in hiding her truth? If she was a functioning alcoholic with a new aesthetic does this mean that the upside down yellow room signify where she would use the vices to help her play the game when she was actually fearless all along.
If it’s set at midnight in the snowglobe maybe they are twin flames that only meet in their dreams.
Also I want to point out that her sexuality is her sexuality but with that being said I just wanna say that during scenes with her lover in the Lover Video he is a black man, and that little girl reminds me of Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse (Char loves it!) and also the dollhouse reminds me of the lover house.. the red N for Netflix that folds down, kinda looks like a scarf. The Me! Music video reminded me so much of Hairspray which was set in the year 1962, which has the theme of acceptance and inclusion but also deals with racism and bias. This musical also had the themes of social activism and self-love. And the biggest theme of all is media bias. What a time to be alive, every afternoon when the clock strikes 4.. iykyk. All of these themes are applicable for today’s world and has been since Hairspray was released. Just because someone printed something in the news to make it look like a pretty headline does not mean the overall problem has gone away. Creating news headlines to induce fear does nothing but separate this country more and more when we need to be coming together most. We want to bitch and moan about pot holes and roads cracking, we can’t keep our people together how in the hell are we going to take care of our environment?
Is Taylor Swift about to be the new Corny Collins.. holy shit no she will be the Lynn Stone from Girls Just Want to Have Fun. I can see her now riding in on her pony. But that was Dance TV.. what are you guys up to?
