butlerfamupdates I actually applaud People Magazine for this. All day magazine’s have posted Austin’s cutest moments with Luci and talked about what a wonderful Dad he is - which no one would ever doubt to think he is - but Luci’s mom is very much present as well and deserves love too. Luci loves both her parents. It’s normal for a kid to have favorites, it doesn’t make the other parent ‘bad.’

Pietro is always the type of guy to make a fuss about an occasion, to make a big deal over a special event. That was no different when it came to you. When your birthday rolled around, he'd spent the upcoming weeks brainstorming ideas and activities to celebrate your big day, picking out things you would like.

He'd get into your head from afar, planning a schedule late at night on his sofa, thinking of ways to make you feel admired, thinking of ways he knows you'd appreciate. Often, he'd come up empty, not because he didn't know you, but because thinking and planning isn't something that comes easy to him. He's more of a do-first, think-later guy.

With your birthday soon approaching, he felt scrambled trying to muster a plan, so instead, he decided to call his sister, asking for her input. He called her one afternoon while she was baking with her boys, phone wedged between shoulder and ear as she tried to separate the soon-to-be chocolate fight between her kids. She briefly gave him a few ideas, nudging him in the right direction - steering him away from the water park idea he had.

After the call, he was still clueless with the minimal help he got from his preoccupied sister. He thought back to the phone call, thinking about baked goods, and that's when he had the idea to bake for you. He knew you'd appreciate something homemade - something made with love, even though the outcome was likely to be horrific. 

The day before your birthday came around, which is when Pietro chose to get the bakes done. He spent the day baking cakes to the youtube tutorial that played on in the background, following the instructions to make the three-tiered heart cake. When it cooled, Pietro iced it -poorly- in colours he knew you'd like: light pinks and pale blues before decorating it with an abundance of sprinkles and even more piping.

Afterwards, he packed it in a box, tying a ribbon around it and wedging a handwritten Sokiovian note into the knot. He put it aside and began to ice the massive cookie he had baked earlier - piping squiggles around the edge and writing out a funny and juvenile word in the middle that he couldn't stop himself from.

Your special day came around, and in the morning, when he first awoke, Pietro sent you a paragraph of things he loves about you - ways he appreciates and cherishes you. He finished the text by telling you he'd be over soon with breakfast and gifts.

He got ready as fast as possible, wanting to spend more time with you on your special day, so he dressed himself in whatever loungewear he had hanging about - whatever was closest to him. He packed his overnight bag, throwing in an outfit for dinner tonight and something to sleep in. He then loaded his car, filling it with gifts, balloons, and surprises, carefully placing your cakes in the passenger seat. 

On the way to you, he picked up breakfast and coffee to fuel and prep you for the day ahead, wanting to make the most of your birthday - to make it as special as he could.

soupmates is so cute and i love when typos become canon jargon in friendships hehe. you've made me crave croissants again and i am wistfully thinking of how we have a rule that while we're in france, if one of us asks "what time is it?" the other is legally obligated to respond "croissant o'clock" and then we go find a boulangerie. this is how we end up eating 8 croissants/day whenever we're there.

wttcsms is on my deep dive list too!! every time i see them on my dash i'm like how does it feel to never be wrong? ack i've just been so busy that the only time i have to trawl tumblr is during my unhinged insomnia hours when i'm only half aware of what i'm keyboard vomiting lmao NO FILTER only screeching.

okay not mushrooms but this weekend i was busy running around the kitchen experimenting with my lil hoard of fig leaves! i made fig leaf syrup, fig leaf oil, and experimented with dehydrating and freezing the leaves for preservation. i also tested different ratios of toasted fig leaves and pandan in creme brulee and panna cotta so i could see how the flavors bloom in dairy in preparation for the idea i had for my cake. then i gave all the excess treats to baristas at our fave local coffee joints bc i'm not a huge sweet tooth and this was tew much dessert! after i found a ratio i thought worked, i made the cake except i'm afraid it's going to turn out hideous (it's still in its cake ring rn) but it's basically a first draft cake and i can refine it next time! you should see the notes i took on it. i always try to start with a neat plan and end up scribbling all over it with ideas and corrections.

tonight we've invited a couple of our friends over so i can do a fig leaf-inspired dinner with hamachi crudo with fig leaf oil, tomato bisque with fig leaf oil drizzle and crouton, slow roasted salmon in fig leaves (finished with a sear from our bernzomatic + searzall bc crispy salmon skin is life), and the fig leaf and strawberry cake. my friend also got cheesybf a new cocktail set for his bday so we can use the fig leaf syrup to make some nice gin cocktails or a fig leaf strawberry mocktail!

right now i'm munching on leftover crying tiger steak and nam jim jaew for lunch with jasmine rice that i steamed with some of the leftover pandan leaves for extra ~aroma. i still have a ton of leaves so i think i'm gonna make a pandan simple for my favorite matcha pandan lattes.

re: urls haha YES chopsticks are the best way to eat flaming hot cheetos and no one can change my mind. i always think of puffins when i think of my own username. those cute lil round birds. with like a lil cheese hat. i also associate you with apples now as we move into fall. but mentally my picture of you is a swirl of the colors in a kent mango, scented by mango skin by vilhelm and just a hint of kilian's apple brandy on the rocks. maybe a waft of mfk 724 and something like clean cotton or a soft white floral.

HAHAHA totally fair i just realized it was getting long maybe i should put my responses under a read more LOL

i'm responding a day (??) late (time is fake) bc i had to recover from how gorgeous your cake looked and sounded tbh. but i'm good!! my new assistant at work is picking things up quickly and has common sense which is sadly in short supply around here lmaooo

there's a vietnamese bakery in my hometown that makes the BEST croissants i've ever had in my life (though tbf i have not been to paris yet!) and they supply all the local taquerias with bolillo so they are Churning Out Breads but i cannot emphasize enough that it's like. a warehouse space. with a door on a side street and the price list handwritten and they only recently started accepting anything but cash. i love them. the croissants are huge and lightly buttery and delicious. i will now be declaring it's croissant o'clock any time we happen to drive nearby haha

Birthdays

An incredibly human tradition not typically practiced by the Na’vi. Jake gave up a lot of human traditions, but birthdays would not be one of them. The man insisted that his family celebrated each others birthdays, and so it became a tradition in the Sully household.

Neteyam would never admit it in fear of being teased, but the boy absolutely adored birthdays. He loved everything about them. In fact, he enjoyed celebrating others birthdays just as much as his own. The idea of celebrating the day someone came into the world was so fascinating to him. The humans got one thing right.

Jake was the type of father that went all out for birthdays so naturally Neteyam followed suit. He had been counting down the days to your birthday planning a big surprise for you. After all, you were his whole world. You deserved an entire day devoted to you (though Neteyam felt strongly that you should be celebrated every day).

Neteyam had everything planned down to the T. He tried his best to make you a traditional human cake, he had loads of handmade gifts ready for you, and he even arranged a feast in your honor. To say he was pleased with himself was an understatement.

“Happy Birthday Ma’Y/N!” Neteyam screamed causing you to jolt awake. You surveyed the area for danger, but all you saw was your mate with the cutest half smile ever, looking like a little puppy. Laying back you placed a hand over your chest recovering from what felt like a heart attack.

“Neteyam.” You breathed heavily still trying to calm your heart. “What are you doing?”

“It’s your birthday remember?” He said like it was the most obvious answer ever.

Growing up, you remembered talk of these ‘birthdays’, but you had never celebrated one yourself. It wasn’t a typical Na’vi tradition so you weren’t bothered by them. Neteyam however had different plans.

This was the first birthday you had since you became mates. He was determined to make up for lost time and give you the best birthday ever.

Your mate pulled you into his chest hugging you tightly. Kisses were scattered along your cheeks and your forehead. Softly giggling at the affection you looked up at him.

“What’s gotten into you?” You asked. “Not that I mind.”

Neteyam gave you an unimpressed look. “It is your birthday.” He said again as if that was a crystal clear answer. “We must celebrate you.” He smiled.

Smiling up at him you nodded letting him ramble on about the importance of birthdays. You still weren’t bothered by it, but seeing him so excited melted your heart.

“Oh, I almost forgot!” He said before placing a quick peck to your lips and running out of your shared home.

He quickly returned with a round looking object on a plate. A stick was stabbed into the middle of it, the end of it aflame.

“Neteyam.” You said with wide eyes. “That thing is on fire Neteyam!” You said panicked not sure why he was unfazed.

“Hush, you’re ruining the moment!” He scolded.

You sat there completely lost as to what was going on. Then it got even stranger. Neteyam started singing.

“Happy birthday to you.” He sang. “Happy birthday dear Y/N. Happy birthday to you.” He was practically beaming as he placed the object in front of you.

Staring from the plate then back to him you were dumbfounded. “Are you trying to set something on fire?” You asked concerned pointing back to the stick on fire.

He threw his head back in laughter at your words. “No. You blow it out.” He explained. “But make a wish first. That’s very important.” He smiled.

Raising a brow you looked at him confused. “But I have everything I wish for.” You said as if it was obvious. “Why do I need more?”

Neteyam smiled at you gently placing his hand on your cheek. “It can be anything my love. Even something small. But you have to wish for something, it’s apart of the tradition.”

You nodded at his words. You didn’t fully understand the importance of it, but you knew it was important to him so you’d play along.

“I wish for-“

“No!” He said panicked. “You can’t say it aloud.”

Eyeing him cautiously you continued. “Alright then.” Making a silent wish to yourself you blew out the flame.

You didn’t think it was possible for Neteyam to be smiling anymore than he was. He was thrilled to be celebrating your first official birthday with you. Pulling you into his chest he snuggled his head into your neck.

“Happy birthday Ma’Y/N.” He smiled.

Snuggling in closer to him you sighed in content. You appreciate all the effort he put into this for you.

“Thank you Ma’Teyam.” You blushed.

“I have so much planned for you today.” He happily explained. “Wait until you see all your gifts.” He proudly said.

“Gifts?” You question still unsure of how the whole birthday thing worked.

“Oh just you wait yawne.” He kissed the top of your head. “I have a whole day of celebrating planned.” He grinned ready to give you a day you’d never forget.

Reading all the discourse about Taylor dressing sexy and her face work etc, I just thought she did the traditional ‘show your tits so no one notices your face’ lol. Like when she gets veneers or lips done she usually does something different with her hair styling and keeps her lips a neutral colour. If people get a facelift they’ll often get bangs or start wearing a bold lip colour. New boobs, new hair. New nose, show your tits. Like I suspect when he face settles she’ll be dressing her og wag style, or her less sexy outfit normal. But curious either way haha.

If T&T have kids I can see that being when Taylor starts to realise how fucked her childhood was. But yeah kids have a way of triggering you in ways you didn’t know about, and I think that’s where having a partner who isn’t as tightly strung and - I mean this with love and kindness - seems like the type to go “YO A SQUIRREL!!!” And chase it, would be very balancing. I think Taylor would be the type to get excited when she sees a squirrel but has repressed showing that excitement after being criticised for being immature. So if he’s a somewhat emotionally mature (and a damn big crier) dude, his more traditionally immature qualities seem to balance him out? Idk I just feel like if she was in a telletubby costume when he came home, he’d just be like ‘sick costume! You're right first of all about the fact that there's a lot to unpack beyond the "it's two consenting adults in a relationship" piece but here's the thing, it's not meant for us to unpack. At the end of the day, all we can do is hear news, gossip and read articles about Al's relationship and this and that but we don't know how much of it is actually true and what's really going on, and we can't know. It really has nothing to do with any of us, and those two don't care what the public think either. It's Al and his gf's private life and judging on how shit broke out, they seem to have a lot more to worry about on their plate than anyone else's reactions.

Al is basically a womanizer from what I've read lmao. He always really has been and I know things obviously changed when he got older but an early article that came out saying Al and his gf are dating mentioned the age gap doesn't bother either of them and his gf has dated men around the same age and even older than Al. This is their personal and private life, after all. Men can have children at a very old age, this is just how science works lmao although it can be baffling at 80+, it's still a thing. From what the gossip online says, it looks like this was an unplanned thing and Al isn't doing so good. He doesn't seem to be jumping over the moon about everything from what I read either. I think this is hard for him, tbh.

And some people may think it's weird someone as old as Al is still having sex but given his track record, I'm not surprised at all lmao. To avoid disappointment from celebrity parasocial relationships and putting them on pedestals, you need to come to an understanding that you're also recognizing and putting up (in a way) their flaws on that pedestal too. Al is not a perfect human being, nobody is, but he isn't out here trying to be perfect or live up to anyone else's definitions either nor should he.

I love that you admire and love Al like the rest of us, but you also need to come to an understanding about the things he's done or said or whatnot that you don't agree with or necessarily like. He's just a human being at the end of the day, it's so complex. Don't think too hard on it, because everyone has their flaws and mistakes and as we recognize this, we can still love them for the great things they do. That's really the only thing you need to do.

I think the fandom as a whole looked way too far into this man's personal life. It does not effect us whatsoever and it's honestly none of our business. Al doesn't owe us anything and he's not trying to be a role model to us; we shouldn't be this held up about his personal life. I know it can be hard not to care, but sometimes all you need to do is acknowledge it, accept it, and move on.

I would also recommend reading the biography "A Life on The Wire" by Andrew Yule. It has a lot about Al's life from early days, to romance, to his personality and everything inbetween. It's seriously extremely detailed and gives you a whole new insight on just who that man is!

Feel however your heart wants to feel. You don't have to get held up in Al's personal life like others or form a strong opinion just because someone else has. Something like this doesn't need to stop you from admiring what a phenomenal actor Al is and how he's a fine ass man too. 😭

A lot of schools I worked at as a substitute teacher or tutor (especially our office) had limited parking spots so if you didn't get there early, good luck finding a spot! once i parked, that's where i stayed until I had to leave lmao

Imagine if they're fighting over the spot, and someone else entirely uninvolved took it one day lol they'd be dumbfounded or perhaps think the other got a new car lol i can see them staking out the spot to confirm and be confused af when someone else gets out

Yoongi was trying to be the voice of reason lol but Jimin just would not listen lmao in his head, it was HIS spot lmao maybe they'll carpool after their date. And something i learned in college and later on from working in schools, always have an extra set of clothes in the car, undergarments included bc you never know when you'll have to change. Jimin was so clumsy but it wasn't his fault (okay it was) he wasn't aware of his surroundings and the pudding had a mind of its own 😂😂😂

Taehyung was in a rough spot. He tried not to get involved but he did without being fully aware of what was going on when he went to lunch but overall i think he did a good job trying to stay neutral 😂

JK and Hobi had ulterior motives for the skincare lol they figured if they did it as a friendly gesture, Jimin wouldn't suspect they wanted him looking fabulous before they suggested he start dating, so all in all, they were trying to butter him up. if he hadn't found MC then the next step was a new wardrobe

They did their best to get on each other's nerves lmao MC loves annoying Jimin, especially since he got coffee and pudding on her clothes. so any opportunity to annoy him was a win 😂

Harin absolutely ADORES mc, they get along so well, and Harin is MC's star pupil :)

I wanted the pranks to be as harmless as possible, more of an inconvenience than anything else. i HATE hurtful pranks so I went with the desktop background thing and the googly eyes and fake poop. and Jimin left his car in the lot over the weekend. he was originally going to get picked up in an uber in front of MC but Yoongi was already picking up Lila and Harin, so it made sense Jimin would get picked up too lol

Harin's reaction to the fake poop was hilarious! she's so cute! and Tae immediately realizes that MC has a crush on Jimin! he's been around for ages so he knows how she gets with a crush lol

I loved the Friday the 13th cake incident! i was so excited to write it lmao Harin's birthday is the 14th of October so they shared a birthday party and yes, MC was mortified when she realized she had cut and eaten Jimin's birthday cake. Jimin found it hilarious!

Jungkook and Yoongi were having a wonderful time laughing at Jimin's expense! everything just clicked! and mc can't help but daydream about Jimin lmao she wasn't expecting to meet Jimin's friends and her mom's friend of a friend who wanted to set her up with her son who happens to take her parking spot everyday lol the kiss was my favorite! they were supposed to kiss the second time they fell on each other but i wanted it to be a little more private.

I definitely had so much fun writing this story, i was surprised i hit 16k whoops, editing was rough, i had to do it in sections and then go back and fix a few more things. and then tumblr wouldn't let me post so i had to use my husband's computer lol bless him. i would like to write a few drabbles for them in the future, maybe of their first date and a few of them later on in the future and perhaps Halloween and their first time carpooling lol
