I love that my cats sometimes just... pretend they didn't hear me (or just straight up ignore me), despite knowing for a fact that they both have excellent hearing, and that they know which particular tones I use exclusively when speaking to them, and that they know the meanings of various words— including their individual names and nicknames, and which one is their own.

I genuinely love it. It's just such a person thing to do, 'Oh, were you saying something? I couldn't hear you.' And they go about it with exactly the air of feigned manners you'd expect from a character in a Regency novel.
