They’re tiny, clear, schooling catfish! Like a lot of “clear” fish they can have a beautiful rainbow shimmer/refraction in the right light conditions. & They’ve got the little whiskers which make them adorable of course.

In nature they’re found in rivers in Thailand. They’re pretty fragile though, and if kept as pets only belong in large aquariums with lots of other ghost catfish and maybe some other very peaceful fish friends that won’t bully them! 🐟

CASA was born much later than Maison, and although he started his latest hunt in cooperation with others, he is better at hunting alone.He is a bit of a hindrance to Maison, who calls himself the "No. 1 real estate agent," but he also respects Maison, who has been at the top of the game with his cleverness and skill.

I am keep the business card tracking thing the creator made for CASA.

Unlike Maison, CASA is not particular about only eating humans.

Thanks to his looks, he doesn't have trouble eating, but he likes steak and pasta dishes. He also drinks alcohol.

CASA don't make puns, but do tell jokes.

CASA enjoys hunting using home apps and cooperates, but he admires Maison's charm and demeanor.

Casa's usual greeting ↓ Just arrived in town? You look like a lost kitten. ...You didn't say hello yet. I'm CASA, a real estate broker in the uncanny valley. I'm confident I can make you have the best time if you give me the time. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

His digestive enzymes also have an aphrodisiac effect, making prey fall in love with CASA and become obsessed with it. It digests food slowly while making it sleep, without causing any pain.

Maison Talo sprouted up in the early mid 60s.

CASA is a REALTOR born in the early 90's! Although he doesn't put his ranking number on his business card, he is convinced that he is the No. 2 in the uncanny valley. (He is bitter about the maisons that call themselves No. 1, but recognizes his ability.)

Casa Court is the full name for this REALTOR.

CASA prefers to be called CASA or CC rather than his last name, Mr. Court. CASA who is very friendly and often interacts with REALTORs who are younger than him and has a wide range of friendships. Humans also have friends.

CASAs are ambitious and have a lot of pride, so it's not like they get along with young REALTORs just out of pure kindness.If they can make good use of them, they feel lucky.

CASA is 32 years old.

REALTORs instinctively threaten others who come into their territory, but I believe that younger generations such as CASAs are able to tolerate to a certain extent and interact with others.

CASAs don't like their hair to fall off, and they don't like being bitten or scratched, so if you're going to keep them, you should probably keep them with reptiles, fish, or insects. As a side note, CASA likes moray eels and sharks.

There may be a huge aquarium installed...! This is also a side note, but his main body, a membrane that resembles a window in a house, is double layered, and the lure mouth has another mouth at the back, although it is not necessary.

CASA doesn't get hurt is the rule.

I wanted to make him the CEO of a faceless soulless company I had ideas about.

He is the CEO of I Want That And You Need Company as the pretty face to the soulless alien robotic company.

He's a smooth talker, so you'd think he'd speak fluently and in a casual manner. CASA has an inner mouth, so if someone bites it, it might not be easy to tear it off.

When it's raining, I think I'll either cook with the ingredients I've already bought, or I'll order a meal delivered, and if I like the delivery person, I'll eat with the delivery person.

I think he would smile bitterly if his business card was eaten in front of him.

CASA doesn't like cats. Because I don't like being scratched or bitten by cats. Cats sharpen their claws everywhere!

He thought it was easy to attract women because he looked good, and he thought it would be easy to eat women who followed everyone.

CASAs almost exclusively target women. During the day they look for affordable humans, but at night they seduce women with sweet words, bring them into their homes, and prey on them.

If he is really hungry, he will eat regardless of age or gender, and will also ingest human food.

He often eats on the sofa or in bed.

My idea if I had two REALTORs of different ages working together.

Old School vs New School Buyer Hunting Methods

Both characters seem like they would play off each other well. Like you got the more experience REALTOR with the old school ways of getting buyers but when a younger buyer sees them.

It's like standoffish.

And then you got the younger tech savvy one with the modern gimmicks to get buyers quicker using tech but having trouble with older buyers.

So they decide to work together even though they don't like eachother because of their different styles of buyer hunting but they both get fed.

Like a experience trail and error kind of way to adapt to their environment.

My Lore For This Adoptable

Casa Court was a normal non infected REALTOR that was doing his buyer hunting routine and noticed a ad on the ground for a strange new company he never herd of called I Want That And You Need Company.

He was curious about it but then it started to rain which caused him to return to his house body quickly before it got worse.

Good thing the last buyer he ate had a umbrella.

Casa decided to research what this company was but the site was very slow and hard to use which frustrated him.

He decided to order a steak gorgonzola alfredo with a nice red whine for delivery.

While waiting fed his prized moray eels and one hammer head shark.

Then decided to watch tv and by random chance caught a small commercial from the very same company he found the poster for.

It was a strange product for a spray that makes REALTORs have full control of their molting cycle or not have one at all and to prevent hair loss.

This interests Casa but waited for a number before a ring at his door bell turned his attention away from the tv which made him angry since the show had limited commercial breaks so the next ad would be a long while coming.

Casa Court sighed and breath in then out calmly to keep up his smooth talker and casual manner he had as the No. 3 REALTOR.

He answered the door then says his REALTORs speech to the Door to Door Ding Dong Dasher then slowly stopped to see the dasher kind of looks like him but female like in appearance but a little off.

Casa Court was confused by this doubleganger but decided to just ignore that and paid for the meal.

But before she left he stopped her and asked what her name was.

She said Casey Laney and needed to leave for her next delivery to prevent being exploded by her boss.

Casa Court wasn't sure if he was in love with this being for reals or was he some how effected by his own digestive enzymes which have an aphrodisiac effect.

He took his food and shook his head then walked back inside but did peak through his double layered membrane windows.

Casa Court closed the door mouth to his house body.

He took his food out the container and shook it out in the middle of the kitchen floor where he eats from.

As his lure body was distracted while eating he herd a large bump then a scream coming from inside of his house body.

Seems like a person randomly entered inside his house body from another world.

Zable Fable looked around then noticed the meat floor from the kitchen which freaked her out then gets up to look around.

"Where am I?"

"Why is this place cold? Kind of making me sleepy not gonna lie."

She is walking in place to warm up with her step watch at 9000 steps.

Casa Court was shocked but interested in this human that just appeared out of nowhere.

He planned to be friendly to this intruder before eating them.

" You look like a lost kitten."

"I'm Casa Court a real estate broker in the uncanny valley and you are intruding in my house."

Zable Fable would tilt her head thinking of what his name meant then a female voiced robo sloth came out her bag then clings to Zable's back.

Janet would tilt her head then looks up at this new guy and say. "Really Casa translates to house."

"What kind of place have we realm jumped to now?"

Zable Fable would fix her glasses and says intelligently but is actually reading on her 2012 phone even though it's the early 2000s.

"Well Janet."

"It seems like we are inside of a monster mimic house and I am going to eaten."

Her step watch at 9007 steps.

Casa Court just watches with confusion.

Then he decides to knock out Zable with his enzymes since he can't tolerate this person's fourth wall breaking both of the physical and mental.

"Now love me and only me buyer." "Be obsessed with me."

Zable Fable would just stare at him like she's oblivious since she never really dated or got hit on.

She would walk up close to him and say.

"Alright casanova your little vampire mind games are not going to work on me."

"I know you are already hot and I think we are the same height."

"I'm 6"2 by the way but I know I'm out of your out of your league."

"So I will leave."

"Come on open up."

Zable walks to the door to try to open it but the door won't open. Casa Court watches this super confused like his enzymes didn't work.

Then remembered that he ate human food so the effects were not as strong.

Casa Court takes his red wine then opens up the door and hands her his business cards then pushes her out of his house body then pours the wine on the floor for him to consume then doesn't even bother to look outside.

Zable Fable dusts herself off and shrugs then feels the business cards seem plant jack fruit jerky like in texture.

"Got some cool business cards though." "Hmm?"

Janet would look back at the house confused and back at Zable.

"Zable no."

Zable Fable sniffs the business cards then eats one.

"These business cards are pretty tasty though."

"Got a fruit leather taste to it."

"I would give it a 9 out of 10."

Janet was grossed out by Zable.

"Gross."

"Zable no you don't know where those cards have been."

Casa Court decided to look out his window to see the annoying buyer eat his business card then he smiled bitterly as his business card was eaten in front of him from the window while also retracting the business card tracking cord before this buyer ate them to prevent pain.

Zable Fable draws on the back of one of the business cards with her phone number then knocks on the door and rings the door bell.

"Hope this house guy is cool for a interview later when he chills out."

"Guess he couldn't take the weirdness from me."

Janet clings to Zable and nods.

"We should check what this place is first and interview folks to get more info maybe some history."

Both realm jumpers leave the area to explore this new place.

Casa Court sees the two leave and he sighs in relief and opens his door to see his own business card on the ground.

This made him distraught since his lure body worked real hard on making these business cards and he picked it up to examine it to see a well drawn sketch of his house body but it was connected to his lure body like his mimic human head was replaced with his house body.

"This is well drawn but why?"

He noticed the buyer wrote a number down under the sketch and he quickly wrote it down before the business card rotted away.

Then he heard the commercial jingle from that company he was waiting for and decided to VHS record it for later then he saw the address with a phone number.

He decided to check the company out once the storms stop.

Casa Court put up his lure body on his bed to rest since he hated just dangling the lure from the celling just in case something else tries to attack his lure body while also being preparing easily for the next day.

When Casa Court wakes up then he would stretch in his lure body and goes to cook breakfast with the food he purchased from the grocery store with the money he has collected from the many buyers he has eaten.

Then he fed his aquarium pets.

He later let his lure body take a nice warm bath or shower then brushes/flosses his normal amount of teeth.

He removed his "clothes" to clean and iron to look clean cut.

He picked up the small poster with the address written from the I Want That And You Need Company ad he rewatched on his VHS player then folded it to put in his left pants pocket.

Then he set out to see what this place was.

Casa Court finally reached the company building which was huge but seemed future like in a early 2000s way like it was a clear building but cycles through different colors.

Before getting close to the building it seems like something was scanning Casa and someone was sneaking up on this REALTOR.

He held onto his umbrella just in case to protect himself.

Instapartners and Instapetz attack Casa with water attacks that he dodges then opens up the umbrella to protect himself then bats away a couple of them but one of the instapartners grabs him behind holding his lure cord so he won't escape being dragged in the company building.

Casa Court tries not to struggle too much so his lure cord doesn't get tangled up/removed so the house body doesn't have to waste energy on making a not as good looking lure which is his worst fear since he recently lost his #2 REALTOR ranking & doesn't want to go any lower.

Instapartner takes Casa Court to a alien like computer room where they are using one regular guy and one burned lure REALTOR as a guinea pig for products that seem to be helpful to each species but can make money on to upcharge to save enough to take over the valley.

The instapartner sits Casa Court at a CEO desk and presses a button for a electric species to talk through it.

The product walks back to collect all of Casa's lure cord from where he traveled all the way to his house body then takes measurements for how to move this house body closer without killing or badly damaging him.

The product nicely curls up Casa's lure cord and walks back holding it then returns to area then waits for their bosses to say the words to use the House Hauler.

Casa Court happily chatted with electric species in the computer as it says it's been trying to use washed up creatures to make new products to help folks but they need a humanoid face to the company to stand out.

Since this creature is made of pure energy getting a body like a robot one will overload the severs to the body and blackout the factory.

That's also why the website is so awful and slow on purpose to save energy.

The electric being is called Project Obscura and seemed to be thinking of lots of ideas to random useless products that didn't make the cut to more useful things.

But some times the scrapped items do return.

Seems like this place is always thinking.

Casa Court found this being and the company interesting while understanding why the company is like this.

So he decided to be the CEO or the face of the company.

He got to meet Hazzy and Infortunatus (Chateau) Bungalow while also knowing what a fungmammal is which freaked him out at first then reminded him about his aquarium pets at home.

Hazzy told Casa Court that those sea creatures might be fungmammals since you rarely see animals in the uncanny valley besides the eye and mouth birds.

This shocked Casa Court about what he was taking care of.

Infortunatus Bungalow also taught Casa Court about the different fungmammal types and showed off his fungmammal Sprocket.

Sprocket was iffy on this person but slowly got used to him.

Once Casa Court became a CEO his house got hauled a little closer to the company building.

Casa Court first CEO move was to make a new commercial for the I Want That And You Need Company with a catchy jingle to hook people in.

The second thing he did was interview people to see if their were any of them that could be good at fixing up websites to make it easier to use.

Later decided to release the people or beings stuck in the old ads on the website but if they repeat offend their crimes which is the reason why they were stuck in the ads in the first place then Casa Court will politely invite them to his house to eat.

Casa Court did find a few people for the website job.

But needed to make the company and warehouse wheel chair accessible.

His desk was decorated with pictures of his house body that his lure body took, his aquarium, his workers, and a custom stress squishy toy of his house body.

Casa Court likes to eat his buyers and people who try to return fraud the company he is Ceo of by first sweet talking with them through the phone or email.

Then try to lure them into his house body then likes to consume them by either lifting them up to the walls or on his bed.

Gi Jones was a Regular Guy recently hired by Casa Court for the tech side of the company but was told if he was to be hired he wanted his REALTOR friend Uathúil Ie who was a blind but she is very good at buyer hunting so she was hired too.

Uathúil Ie sometimes shares the return fraud people or beings with Casa but Infortunatus Bungalow (Chateau Bungalow) just eats normal foods or eats inorganic material after almost dying buyer hunting doesn't eat buyers anymore.

Plus he and Sprocket finds it gross.

Zanadu Ludu is a Falseperson and she works in the hard labor jobs of the company like sticking her underground to see how deep a REALTORs root system is to safely move them then will leave some fungmammal spores just in case.

She will ask if the REALTORs can suck in their organs to their house body and if not she will dig down then push them in until the truck arrives from a Carz sales persons.

She will lift up the house body and walk to the back of the truck while standing holding the house but the lure body needs to be inside for safety while the truck drives to the destination.

She sticks her hand underground then leaves fungmammal spores in dangerous places where the REALTORs could get badly damaged or hurt and maybe die.

Then once she successfully moves the house body then the returned instapartners and instapets dig up some land in a area the size of the underside of the house to replant it.

Zanadu will remove the fungmammal spores from the house body once replanted and knock on the door then ring the door of the REALTORs have one to tell the lure body to check it out.

If the REALTORs pay extra they can get the natural and unnatural disaster plan that protects the house body with the lure body from nature elements as well as man made ones.

They will get up to two instapartners one for outside the home and one for the inside for security.

Uathúil Ie ranking number in braille says #4 REALTOR and isn't mad her ranking went down but if it gets down to 20 or lower then she would be mad.

Casa Court would probably apologize for her ranking going down like his.

Casa Court left the company near closing time and to just take a stroll to see how long he was from where he was moved then noticed something in the corner of his eye like a REALTORs eating something out the trash in a alley way.

He was curious but tried to ignore this unknown person.

Then decided to carry on his own business before being stopped Casa Court by one pulling on his lure cord trying to bite it.

This realtor looked disheveled, and homeless looking for a lure to a house.

Casa Court smacked this creature with the umbrella and ran as far as his lure cord could take him before his lure cord stopped to see a whole bunch of parasite infected Realtors look back at him smile drooling.

He backed out slowly gathering some of his lure cord then ran back to his house body before one pounced on him.

Before Casa Court thought he was a goner then when closed his eyes he herd a sound of a metal For Sale sign hit the parasite realtor in the face making them fly.

When Casa opened his eyes he saw a 8"11" infected realtor showed up that looked unhinged superhero like in a appearance.

Castelo Chateau looked back at Casa Court and had a smirk on his face.

He uses the pointy side of the For Sale sign as a sword to stab the fungmammals then absorb them.

"You must be new here."

"Are you here because the housing rates are too high for you to move here?"

"Hold the telephone."

"Hey you are that Ceo guy on the wacky glowing thing in my house body?"

Casa Court watches the shock and sees this infected realtor fight a neighborhood of parasite infected realtors.

"Yes I am and I was just taking a stroll."

"Why would I want to move?"

Castelo Chateau said while flipping infected houses with his metal For Sale.

Then sees a huge parasite fungmammal and gives Casa Court to hold his metal For Sale sign for a minute.

"Interesting but you should be careful you almost died buddy."

"Can you hold this?"

"Hey it's Big Bertha!"

"Your mail package has arrived."

Casa Court just nods and shivers while watching this all happen.

"Is that your house?!"

Castelo Chateau came back holding his uprooted house body to bonk the huge fungmammal.

"Excuse me sir don't mind me."

Bonks the huge fungmammal with his own castle house.

"Wow there are more here than last time."

Jumps high in the air then float walks with while holding his own castle house and notices a Zable looking REALTOR.

"Dupla Lar we meet again!"

"Hey I'm here!"

Dupla Lar ignores Castelo.

Casa Court nods the puts the For Sale sign in the ground then backtracking his lure cord back to his house but one infected realtor decided to followed him home then closes the door.

"Home sweet home."

"What now?"

Casa Court checks his window seeing that annoying buyer from before.

"Oh great she's back."

"What does she want now?"

Dupla Lar noticed this new house in their territory and decided to feel the outside of the house body.

Thinking about consuming part of this house.

"This looks tasty."

Casa Court would open the door.

"Why come back here buyer?"

Dupla Lar laughs to herself.

"What buyer?"

Dupla Lar handed Casa Court her business card with papayas on it then pretended to accidently drop a papaya in Casa Court's house body as she fang smiles.

"Oops."

"Welcome to the neighborhood."

Castelo Chateau came back holding his uprooted mail box to strike Dupla Lar like a hammer but she grabbed it.

"Wow you are lucky this Realtor didn't eat part of your house."

Casa Court takes the business card then picks up the papaya and examines it wondering what it means.

Then heard that comment.

"Eat part of my what?!"

Dupla Lar and Castelo Chateau are fighting that Casa Court just sighs then closes the door.

He pokes the fruit on his table.

"What is the papaya about and why is this place so dangerous all of a sudden?"

Casa Court puts the papaya in the fridge and gets his lure body put up to rest but glances out the window to see the two weird infected realtors gone.

He sighs in relief and feeds his aquarium pets.

He lays his lure body on top of his bed and unhooks the lure body to rest up until morning.

Casa Court re hooks his lurebody and stretches then checks up on the papaya in the fridge then wonders if he should eat it or not.

Then checks on his pets then see if they are okay.

He decides to turn on the news to see the weather and regular guy he has never seen before talk about the weather being partly cloudy with sun with the symbols on his suit.

He decided to cut up the papaya then sees if his moray eels and hammer head shark like to try some of the fruit.

So he drops it in the fish tank for his pets to eat it and at first they just stare at the fruit then the hammerhead shark eats it then hops happily out the tank then jumps back in.

He cuts another piece then the moray eels do the same thing.

"Interesting I guess they are fungmammals."

He decided to eat the papaya by cutting it up into cubes then pour it on the floor to taste and this was the best fruit he had it was sour yet super sweet and juicy.

It seemed too tasty like it could be a additive.

"That's why that infected realtor gave that papaya for free."

Casa Court gets ready for work and fixes his hair.

He checks his right pocket for the infected realtor business card which doesn't have a ranking like it was erased but replaced with a farmer's market address and phone number.

"Strange but interesting."

"I am curious to see what this farmer's market is."

He puts up the infected business card which doesn't rot which is strange to him and opens the door then looks around for danger.

He starts to walk back to his Ceo job carefully and thinking of having instapartner body guards before tripping on something that made a hissing bug noise back at him.

Casa Court would try to get his footing so he wouldn't fall on his butt.

He starts to sweat at what kind of fungmammal that he tripped on then just ran away in fear the closes the door to the company.

The catmite tilts her head then walks away to see the blind REALTOR pet her.

"So cute."

The catmite purrs loud and wiggles bug feet.

Uathúil Ie says bye to her new friend and use her lure cord like a cane to find the handicap button for doors to open then walks inside.

The catmite follows Uathúil then hides in her outfit then changes into a design to blend in on her back of her outfit.

Casa Court takes roll call to see if everyone is here at work.

Everyone was on time as he checked off the sheet of paper then walks to his aquarium office to brain storm new ideas with Project Obscura.

Mostly this electric being asking what other weaknesses REALTORs have.

Casa Court would think and say this.

"Well the lure cord has the limited range depending on how far we go from our house body that it's similar to when you use up tape where it can't go farther."

He demonstrates this with the tape that was used up and puts hand behind his back.

Project Obscura was confused by this then tries to think of something.

"Maybe a storage portal for the lure cord that untangles the cord from far distances to help extend more."

"Nah that's silly."

Casa Court thinks that might be a good idea.

"Also lure body durability to physical attacks and fire to prevent us from loosing a lure to waste energy to make a new one."

"Also I herd that some of these infected Realtors are durable around fire but still hurts them."

The catmite jumps off Uathúil clothes and explores the company.

She jumps on company products to get higher to see everything.

She sniffs around the area.

The Clementine the catmite jumps around having the zoomies running around wildly scratching things.

Clementine pokes her head in the office area curiously then sneaks in under Casa Court's desk.

Casa Court gets hungry and decides to take a lunch break and go buyer hunting.

Clementine follows after Casa Court then when he looks back she blends in a poster.

Casa Court scouts out for a female buyer that was worthy of his courting and found two nicely dressed buyers.

He smiled and decided to say his speech to the women and then gets pushed out the way by something or someone.

The being looked REALTORs like but the lure cord looked cut and Casa Court noticed this guy from yesterday that was homeless looking but now is clean cut.

"Hello, ladies would you two like a house for free?"

"I would love to make you two sexy ladies your dream home today."

The women were surprised and are interested in a free house.

Casa Court was confused at what is happening and chooses push this person out the way to get to the female buyers then hands them his business cards.

"Excuse ladies but have you two just arrived in town?"

"Both of you look like a couple of lost kittens."

"I'm CASA, a real estate broker in the uncanny valley."

"I'm confident I can make you have the best time if you give me the time."

"I promise, you won't be disappointed."

The Second Chance Real Estate Agent/Broker looked confused when he saw this non infected realtor say that he was one of his species.

"My name is Merve Lively and I'm a real estate agent and broker."

"Fun fact this realtor will eat you if you take the offer so it's best to flee the scene while I will actually make you a house of your deepest dreams."

Both women get scared of Casa Court and run away from him to Merve Lively.

"Thanks for telling us." "That's creepy."

Merve Lively laughs and takes the ladies to a safer area to make them a house free of charge.

He also gets a good review out of it and looks around to see if there was any beings that will beat him up of snitching on them.

Merve Lively walks back to Casa Court then pats his back and walks away.

"Better luck next time Mr. House."

Casa Court looks angry then decides to buyer hunt in a different area.

Merve Lively walks to the Work District of the Uncanny Valley and just wanders listening in for the problems of clients.

Casa Court tries to do his speech again to another female buyer but stops mid sentence to look around if a Real Estate Agent/ Brokers are near by.

Merve Lively was busy happily making 3D printed houses in the Work District of the Uncanny Valley for his clients.

Casa Court then continued his speech in a flirty way and offers his card then minded his own business waiting for the lady to call the phone number on his card.

Merve Lively waved at the client and turned off his custom house creative mode within himself to eat a pastry while watching this REALTOR doing his buyer thing.

Casa Court excitedly got a phone call from the buyer and smoothly asked the buyer to see his house again but stopped then noticed she brought friends.

Merve Lively spit out his coffee and did a double take.

Casa Court was ecstatic and walked everyone to his house.

"Follow me."

Merve Lively quickly got up and runs after the people and stops one.

"You know you shouldn't trust this guy."

"He's going to eat all of you!"

Everyone ignored him.

Merve Lively warned them all and later sensed something behind him which was all the people he snitched on.

He runs past Casa Court screaming and turns on his creative mode to 3D print a rocket to try to escape but gets jumped by the crowd to make a fight cloud.

Casa Court looks back laughing with all his buyers walking up to his house body door.

"See ya, Mr. Agent or are you a Broker? I always forget which one to use."

Then she throws the landline phone but the phone cord bounces back then the phone just dangles making a answering machine noises.

2p S. Italy enjoys going to the beach for dates, he's obsessed with the beach, especially if it's somewhere with a lot of rock/tide pools. He loves fish so aquariums are also high up on his list of places he likes going with his S/O, he finds it calming to just watch them swim around and he feels at peace with his S/O, it's "combining the best" to him.

2p England loves taking his S/O foraging, mostly because it helps him collect things to cook/bake with while also making it more fun than usual. If his S/O doesn't like to, he's happy to go himself and then cook or bake with them, whatever they prefer. He has an extreme love for both and he wants to share that with them.

2p France likes any date that consists of staying in, he's not the biggest fan of going out anywhere on dates. He doesn't really care what actually happens, he's pretty much up for anything unless it's strenuous, but he would just like to lay around watching movies with them with some snacks and such.

2p Hungary loves going on picnics, usually getting there by taking a hike (she will carry them or find somewhere not as physically demanding if they don't like/can't do hikes). She has a specific picnic basket that she takes, it's like a secret of hers because people usually mock her for liking them but she knows her S/O wouldn't do that to her.

2p Belgium loves creativity-based dates: making music, painting, origami, scrapbooking, literally anything of that sort of nature as long as they can do it together. She was never really creative when she was younger so she loves to do it as much as possible, she would love to include them, even if they're not the best because she isn't either

This just takes place a long time after the whole o5-12 incident and Mikell believes that he has gotten over his traumas but now its really just here to slap him in the face that he hasn’t at all

But atleast he gets another chance to punch it’s face Jan 28 // A small epilogue: a few weeks later, Mikell heads down to a very particular containment cell. It had taken a while to get the paperwork through for the visit, but it felt long overdue. After all, it wasn’t just the three brothers who’s lives were thrown into turmoil by one Adam Bright; there were two others. And while one wasn’t reachable anymore, the other was within foundation care. Mikell entered a cell that he’d never gone to before, but perhaps should have a long time ago.

“Hello, Sarah.”

He had never actually seen his youngest sibling; with Adam Bright’s obsession over her after ‘the incident’, he had never bothered. They hadn’t known each other, she had been there for so little time that he had barely registered her as one of his siblings, but in another life he would have raised her. Claire may be long gone and out of reach, but Sarah was still here and he could still reach her. Jan 27 // TJ didn't want to stop watching the show because the penguins were still there. The birds are cute and go from looking good, to dancing, to fighting, to building houses or even several of those together to show that they would be excellent couples

Awwww Jan 27 // Oh oh idea- Even they were younger and had trouble living on what little they had, Mikell would always try to make an effort for his siblings' birthdays, even if it meant just getting a small cupcake with a candle on it, because his siblings still deserved something good to show them that they mattered. Draven is with his brothers watching an animal documentary, when he sees two males fighting for a territory that they will use to attract a female, he looks at the two minors "that's how Papa Kon and Papa Clef realized they wanted to be with the other and sought to get his attention "Jack was also watching TV" removing the fact that there was no female involved "Mikell follows the flow, the minors only pretend as if they understood

Jack watches Clef and Kon fight with Mikell with Nostalgia "I just need to lose this body and it will be like before" Mikell looks at him somewhat scared "WHAT?" Jack tells him how things were before, Mikell understands and at the same time he doesn't understand how they ended up together or how these two people make such a mess. I hope they don't destroy the party

Mikell has never experienced the senior staff’s chaos first hand and had only saw reports on it, the whole time he saw Kondraki and Clef together they were chill only at points do they pick on eachother and banter but now they look like madmen who are currently destorying everything in their way, swinging and clashing swords with eachother and no one seems to be bothered by this and he wonders how his employees has been working if these two fighting brought back nostalgia

Oh! I really like the idea of amnestics and Adam leaving without any memories of the foundation or his children! That’s a much better end to it than what I was thinking! I do want to think things still play out the way I wrote before, with the final trap, and Mikell lands the final blow in the that fight, but it’s not the blow to end Adam’s life, it’s the final nail in the coffin for Adam’s o5 status; it officially puts him beyond a point where the o5 council will let him stay.

After the final verdict is given, and the amnestics dolled out, and Adam Bright is now just a name that exists in memories, the found family throws a celebration. Rights and Jack lead it, but it’s for everyone who helped along the way. It’s a big one, there’s a lot of people so of course it is, and it’s absolutely wild.

And afterwards, when things are quiet and they can finally get their privacy, Kondraki sits with his three new children, holding them all (but especially Mikell, who had been the target for his bio father’s anger and vitriol for months to try and keep him from looking at the rest of the family, and all that stress is now starting to come down on him and he might be shaking), and whispering softly, “it’s okay. He’s gone. He won’t hurt you anymore. It’s finally over.”

And the three Bright brothers can breathe again.

I think that is a wonderful wrap up of all this!! And the combination of both our of ideas of the encounter and the end of 12 getting formally booted out of the Foundation, it shows how much work all the found family put together Jan 26 ///

Plot twist mikell just doesn't want to admit he's been pinning for his own bodyguards from the very beginning

A loving fancy candle lit dinner, being picked up with a bouquet of roses, escorted through the restaurant to the top floor for only vip guests which needs top connections to even have reservations and being presented gifts that are personalized to you

I like to think Black and Thompson started dating each way back before; they started bonding over pining for Mikell, gre really close, and what two members of the factotum do in their very limited off time is their own business. They both still carry their torches for Mikell, but they do deeply love each other too.

Kondraki catches wind of this and goes to confront them, trying to work out what the deal is with them pursuing Mikelll while being already being together with each other, and Black just bursts out “fucking hell, I’ve been pining for Mikell since about a month after we met and I’m still carrying that torch”. Thompson, trying to sound more professional, “what he means is, sir, we each had feelings for Mikell first, and got together with each other later. Loving Black does not stop me from loving Mikell, they are equal, and Black is the same. We are in agreement on this.”

And that is the day Konny learns about poly relationships. (It also becomes a tentative positive point for them on their profile. (- Have already proven to be good partners (note: to each other))

Kondraki really sees how much they care for Mikell, the term polyamory is a new concept to him and even if he doesn’t fully understand it, he still see those two are really in love with Mikell. Reflecting on the fight those two really put everything they got even if it ending up with them very beaten down and exhausted

So he gives his go ahead, those two are ecstatic about this but he reminds them he isn’t the one they need to impress, it’s Mikell. It’s now his choice on this matter if he wants a relationship with them and Kondraki reminds them if they don’t treat him right, they are going to end up worse than 12 Jan 26 ////

After the fight with Thompson and Black, Kondraki just adds in ‘Want to duke it out like our younger days Alto?’

It just ends with these two middle age men hysterically laughing at eachother as they sword fight in the middle of Mikell’s coming out party which they destroy a table and many other things, all the senior staff who have not seen those two fight in so long are nostalgic but Mikell is just “Hey is this normal???” /// Mikel asks Konny what he’s doing and Konny tells him he’s just checking if these two are worthy of being his future sons-in-law.

Mikell is so confused cause, ‘Son in laws? Like his kids? He didn’t fight Kondraki when Kon decided to adopt him or his siblings?’ Jan 26 ///

Just had a thought as to why Black and Thompson aren’t doing well in the fights. Cause how they’re used to fighting is with Black by Mikell’s side and Thompson covering their backs. Mikell is needed there too, and the balance is thrown off without him

That is definitely a good reason on this! Those two main goals has always been on protecting Mikell, never rushing off to fight the enemy. It was always defense than offense but right now that is how they are fighting Kondraki. They are missing the key here which is Mikell, they are uncoordinated and making mistakes which won’t happen normally and Mikell who is watching this go down is noticing that Jan 26 ////

At his party Mikell turns around from eating gayke (gay cake) and sees Konny give Thompson and Black an ass-whooping before Konny tells them, “Aight I’ll let you try again.”

Oh god the kids hearing about Kondraki’s and Clef’s younger days in the Foundation when they were at eachothers throats constantly. Jack would be gossiping around on how wild those two were and how many bodies they had lost because they accidentally got in the way of their fighting. Clef always picking on Kon and teasing him constantly and Kondraki replying with all that with violence. Rights at the time being the person who was able to somewhat control those two but of course not fully. Then Gears going on how much he had to fix everything they did and how many times he scolded them constantly for all the damage

They were scared but clearly holding conviction. They wouldn't back down despite how men twice their size had many times in the past. Kondraki couldn't help but find that to be a good sign. They managed to be neither cocky, nor weak. Talloran lost. Obviously. However when Kondraki helped them up with a smile, Talloran hoped that perhaps there was still a chance. Kondraki didn't really care that Talloran failed, brute strength didn't dictate character. It was how Talloran has kept getting back up over and over when Kondraki had knocked them down. He put Talloran firmly on the up for consideration list and then read over their work, including the 3999 incident. Reality benders like that weren't something Kondraki himself liked to ever play with, and the idea that it was still there to some degree? It frightened him a little, but somehow Talloran had barely any incidents of rule breaking or outlashes where anyone else became injured. It was a remarkable amount ot self control. Now he was certainly impressed. Maybe he'd give them a chance.

Oh! I think Talloran is really a type a person that Kondraki likes (determined, but not cocky) he is able to see their real character rather than reading up on their file which really gives him nothing. Kondraki is really a ‘I see it then I would believe it’ guy he makes his own opinion of others first hand. This kid is going to go far here and the fact they were only still a researcher here is impressive and that they still have their morals intact is good

Jan 26 // Honestly field agent politics can be described in a sentence "high School politics".Because the youngest you can be in order to enroll if the foundation is like 16, so you basically have a bunch of high schoolers mixed with a bunch of adults maybe a few people close to retirement. Most agents in their prime are like 20 to 21 and most of the time they are dying left and right because of the high mortality rate.

Those good with tech scrub the cameras and security, making sure no trace of what’s about to happen remains. Those good in combat help Black and Thompson with dispatching anyone who’d interfere, while others help to secure a perimeter, no one who isn’t in the operation getting in or out. Draven, Meri, and a handful of others remaining away to guard TJ, to make sure nothing retaliatory heads his way. Rights is the main communicator, glued to her radio and making sure everyone is accounted for and where they should be. The only ones actually inside the room and springing the trap being those deepest invested in this; Kondraki (with Clef as backup), Jack, and of course Mikell. If Adam does manage to make it out, those waiting outside makes sure he won’t get far, but this is personal.

I can’t decide if it would be Mikell or Kondraki who would be the one to deal the final blow. Both feel like they would fit well; the oldest son who’s been put through so much, or the new father who’s better than Adam ever could have been and is furious about what his children were put through.

Oh!!! This is very interesting just everyone pitching in together and the final moments with Adam. It’s a real tough choice picking between Mikell or Kon but I feel Mikell in this situation would be the best as he is the one who was affected the most here and it would feel like a closure to him

But for me I feel like killing Adam would be to much of a easy way out in this story, like he is escaping this whole situation too easily to be the end. I don’t know how but I want them to force Adam’s hand into leaving, leaving the Foundation and never being in relation to the bright siblings (kinda like a circle around to ‘canon’ Adam retiring and like dropping of the edge of the world never to be heard again deal) because right now as you said in a previous ask they made 12 look more and more incompetent in his work and the council is on the edge of not counting him as reliable anymore. He isn’t fit for that position anymore. I want them to kick him out of the council and give him amnestics to forget all the years of working in the Foundation but 'someone’ slips in a higher class amnestics, one that would make him forget he had a family to begin with, that he never had kids, or anything Jan 26 ////

The difference between Adam and his sons is, after the initial hurt, Jack and Mikell realised they were wrong and worked to fix it, while Adam reacted with anger and a want to turn things back to how he felt they should be. And that makes all the difference in the world

1) I like to think that over the years Adan has become more confident of his actions, he will go through his son's office without entering just to cause fear, he thinks that nothing has changed and he does not see a reason to confirm it, everything is as he likes and by claiming his son, he has put him back in his place so that he does not try to leave again.

2) Thing is, his negligence means that he does not take a look at the live of his children, just as Jack and Mikell did not know that it was wrong until the drawing, only that they care about TJ

This isn’t really related to the story idea going on, but the Mikell coming out bit reminded me of my ship for him. Black and Thompson; his bodyguards. I saw exactly one (1) thing where they had personalities and my mind immediately jumped to thinking the three of them would be cute together. They spend a lot of time together just by nature of their respective jobs, and the two are already invested in Mikell’s physical well-being, I just could see it growing into even more. I think Black and Thompson carry a torch for Mikell for years, but never act on it because all three think he’s straight.

Definitely not head on, definitely not impulsive, but between all of them, they have a very wide variety of skills. And those are useful. If they plan and are careful and delegate according to people’s strengths, they can win this. And having the Bright brothers on board helps a lot, especially Mikell who knows him the best. Mikell might not be ready to stand up to his father on his own, but he’s come so far and has grown so much, and he knows not to keep things from Jack anymore. And Jack has enough rage and hatred to fuel decades. Between the two of them, they can get and give enough information that this really could work.

It could actually be possible, they have to keep everything on the down low knowing the o5 are still overseeing them all, it is so risky. Knowing Kondraki he did not think at all about the consequences of actually picking a fight with an o5 but he is still going to take the responsibility of it. He tries to relax Mikell that he isn’t at fault here and his ‘dad’ had it coming for a long time. They still don’t know what Adam is going to do, but everyone else is taking precautions here. Jack hearing from Mikell who told him everything that happened, he is just so glad that for the first time Mikell isn’t hiding information from him anymore, he is coming to him clean. For Mikell he is the only one here who has free roam of everything being a o5 himself, he really is the key here to protect himself and his now family Jan 25 ///

One thing Kondraki has protecting him is that he’s linked with so many foundation members and scps. If you take on Kondraki, you’re not just taking on Kondraki; you’re taking on Clef, and Rights, and Draven, and Bright even before the adoption but especially after, and every other scp/member he’s connected with whether as a friend or as a parent. If Kondraki gets into serious trouble, there’s a hoard of people waiting in the wings to back him up. No matter how powerful someone is, they’re still one person. And one person is no match for an army.

Yeah! But also they are going after an o5, their employer, someone who most people doesn’t even known existed, and someone who knows more than what they can imagine and the deep secrets of the Foundation. No matter how much you care about a person your own self saftey will take first priority which nothing is wrong with that because that is how you survive in the Foundation. You can’t brute force this situation, you have to tread carefully and seeing most of them are only researchers/doctors/staff they can’t fight head on Jan 25 ///

Before thinking about what to do with Adam, he must think of himself, Glass's little voice in his head. Mikell after doing his job still feels terrible, he goes out to take a ride without being aware that he is going directly where Right or Glass, before fearing your father you must think about yourself, they will not be able to escape, they will want to kill Adam but they are not stupid, they know when not to fight

He knows they have little power over an o5 but everyone has become such a pillar for him, they all care for him. In the first time in his life he is going to rely on others and he needs to tell Jack what happened today, no more of trying to wall off information and preventing them from knowing and leaving them in the dark, they aren’t back at that small house where their parents abandoned them, they aren’t kids anymore. I’ve sort of come to the characterisation of Adam Bright as detached but unhealthily possessive. It’s the only thing I can think of for why he didn’t show any care of concern over his living children, but went into an obsession over his dead one that lasted for years and years and never fully went away. It’s a ‘doesn’t really care that he has you, but also doesn’t want anyone else to have you’ thing. If he considers you to belong to him, then that’s considered a done thing for him, and the idea of something, even death itself, taking away something he considers to belong to him brings out all of his worst traits to the maximum. And the idea that Kondraki is encroaching on his property; that gets his blood boiling

Oh I’m down for this characterization for Adam and I really think that is why Kondraki despises him so much, these people are his children yet he doesn’t treat them as such They both let the kids do their own things but the difference is Kondraki is a home where the kids can come back to whenever while Adam is just empty of attachment. I feel like for Adam he expects things to stay the same when he counts something as his, just like putting something on a shelf, he knows it will stay there even if he doesn’t do anything for it, as long as it is there and not broken he doesn’t really care if it gets dusty or dirty but once someone tries to take it or to clean off the dusts he gets mad

I think we can all agree Adam Bright isn’t the most, shall we say, well-adjusted, stable, or introspective person. So after being beaten up and humiliated in front of his coworkers, by his employee, and having his oldest child (something that is his) call his attacker ‘dad’, he’s going to start harshly demanding answers. And the closest person to corner and demand answers from is Mikell. And I’m pretty sure at that point Kon will nuke him from orbit

God Adam going to find Mikell and is just start bombarding him with questions (this is probably one of the only few times they have ever talked that is not work related) and Mikell is frozen solid, he wants to yell and scream so badly at this man, vent all the frustration that he went through since childhood what his siblings had to go through but he just can’t get all the words out of him just emotions and words swirling in his brain but nothing comes out of his mouth Jan 24 //

It gives me something to think that the only almost real conversations that Mikell had with his father was when he became an o5, it is not that it was the best of experiences, he had to be strong during those moments and with strong we already know what we mean, which brought us to Mikell and Jack's much needed therapy

If they had worked together in the council I really don’t think they would have been very close or anywhere near with a father son relationship, it would have really been work orientated their conversations and if you saw those two you wouldn’t at all think they were related (outside from sharing some physical features)

Mikell is definitely the most awkward out of the two, and also the most baffled. With Jack, the fact he Kon and Clef have a friendship helps, it’s a groundwork for Kon to build off of, with Rights being a more obvious attempt to parent drawing Jack’s attention away, so long as he plays it slow and careful, he can build up the care without Jack really noticing what’s happening until it’s already started feeling more natural to him. A lot of caution is still needed, especially after that point and Jack’s grown wise to his tricks, but the base layer is at least already there. Mikell is a whole other story. Mikell has had anyone care for him since he was in the single-digit age range and really doesn’t know how to react to someone trying to take a parental role. Add in the fact that Kon is his employee and Mikell has had precisely zero good parental figures before, and it’s not good times. There’s also a definite thread of bafflement and distrust in this though, even as Mikell does what Mikell does best and tries to push/drive Kon away. Why is he doing this? Weren’t they fighting over TJ not long ago; why did it change from that to this? Is this deception; what does he really want? What are you seeing that you think is worth caring about? Good thing Kon is a stubborn man. He’s going to get through, one way or another.

Absolutely 100% about the food thing. The Bright siblings will eat anything, whether they love it or hate it, and will always eat everything on their plate, even if it’s too much for them. Expiration dates are a suggestion, not a rule. It takes a lot of willpower to stop themselves from gorging on food, because back then food was scarce and you had to eat what you could when you could cause who knew when you’d get more, but that’s not a good mindset in any healthy lifestyle, and especially not when you’ve got easy access to a 24-hour cafeteria. Food wastage is a huge taboo for them; leftovers are never thrown out, always stored and used. For the other anon who asked how I write so much: emotionally? Okay so I lied but this isn’t a childhood one and it’s only short, so I’m not counting it. All the Bright siblings, but especially Mikell and Jack, have problems with throwing things away as adults. It had been ingrained in them for so long to keep everything because it might be useful for something and they had so little to begin with, that it is a mentally distressing event to throw away anything, not matter how tattered broken torn and/or useless it is.

Oh yeah definitely and also going to the site cafeteria and seeing people throw away food absolutely hurts them even at times yelling at the person who threw it away. They are also so comfortable with eating food no matter where it has been, dropped food means nothing and they will just pick it up and eat it without a second thought and sometimes they see food in the trash that is still perfectly good and their coworkers have to stop them from basically dumpster diving on site whenever they see something that is still edible Jan 22 //

I like to think that Mikell doesn't know how to ride a bicycle, so he offers Jack and TJ to teach them how to ride a horse, when TJ asks him if he can ride a bicycle (this time) to be honest and he says no. I have the mental image of TJ teaching Jack and Mikell to ride a bike, because he was so excited that Draven taught him and Kon took many photos of the process and the results, there is one of Clef holding him to calm him down because he fell, Meri pat him

This is such a cute image!! Just having Mikell teaching both Tj and Jack horse back riding, something he still enjoys since childhood and in return Tj teaching both of them how to ride a bike. Mikell and Jack being absolutely horrible at it and Tj is there laughing while also making sure they don’t fall in a ditch (something he might have done too when trying to learn with the clefkondraki fam) and just for the first time in so long they actually felt like kids again. Then Jack who doesn’t really have anything to teach them felt so left out trying to think about the things he could do too and just is crying cause ‘oh no am I a boring person???’

We are just exploring everything we got for these guys cause I am a sucker for in depth character analysis but yeah this is probably why the Foundation has psychologists, it really isn’t easy for a person to look at their past especially if what happened felt like it was a normal thing until told otherwise Jan 22 //

Okay, last one, otherwise I’ll wind up stitching all of these together into a full story of the sad and tragic childhood of the Brights.

It is a nauseous guilt that haunts him for decades, but when Mikell first hears that Sarah is stillborn, the first thing he feels is relief. It’s awful and horrible and he tears himself up over it because ‘that’s his baby sister’, but it’s the truth. Since he’d found out that his mother was pregnant again, he’d been dreading the day she’d be born. He’d already known he would be the one raising her, there was no point in trying to lie to himself about that. Their mother had waited all of a week after Claire’s birth to disappear, and in that time he could count how often she held the new baby on his fingers, never mind cared for her. Their father had shown up for all of fifteen minutes before leaving again. There was no doubt that the moment Sarah was born, she would be dropped into his arms and their parents would be gone again. And that would be just the first in the inevitable domino falling.

Babies needed constant attention and caring. There was no way he’d be able to keep on working as an agent while looking after a newborn. Which means he would have to quit, and with that would go the pay that had been keeping his family afloat. He’d have to pick up multiple other jobs again, whichever ones would be willing to hire someone who didn’t complete school and would be carrying a baby with him everywhere. Those wouldn’t be good jobs, and that meant they’d have to go back to their pre-agent ways of surviving, only now it was going to be even worse, cause they were barely holding it together before but now they’d have one more mouth to feed and babies are expensive, and the closer they got to the due date the more Mikell found himself laying awake at night trying to piece together how he was going to make this work and arriving at suffocating panic each time because he couldn’t find a way.

So when he got the news, the first thing to hit him was the realisation that none of what he’d been worrying about was going to happen, and the immediate relief that brought him. It was quickly followed by disgust for himself, but that couldn’t change the relief that still clung to him. He does his best to keep his siblings hidden and out of the way, as their mother mourns in her bedroom which hasn’t been touched in years, and as their father stomps around the house like a man who lost his last shreds of sanity. That last part makes something ugly curl in Mikell’s chest; he’s never shown anything like that towards any of his living children, would he really only start to care if they died? Claire has seen her parents all of three times in her life, and so she watches with disdain at these intruders in her home. TJ only has faint fuzzy memories of them, and isn’t much better. Even Jack, who can at least somewhat remember a time where their parents weren’t gone for years on end, is tense and uneasy. For as far as the siblings are concerned, these may as well be strangers in their home. It would all blow over eventually, Mikell was sure of it. Eventually, their mother and father would disappear back to where they came from, and the siblings would have their house back again, no longer needing to walk on eggshells or hide themselves away in the furthest rooms. But work didn’t wait for that, and Mikell had a mission. He left his siblings tucked away out of sight, said he wouldn’t be long and reminded them to make sure to stay out of their father’s way. It’d be alright, it’d be over soon, he was sure. They just needed to keep themselves safe and not draw attention to themselves until Mikell returned. He left with an uneasiness, but certain that it would only be temporary. Soon enough, their parents would go, and things would return to normal. And that’s when things went to hell

Absolutely obsessed with this, this is so good!! God what I wouldn’t give for a bright sibling story with the point of view of Mikell Jan 22 // Another headcanon, but I don’t think Mikell became a foundation agent because it was expected of the family or wanting to follow in his parents’ footsteps or anything like that; it was because of money. He was a high school dropout, still not even an adult yet, working 2-3 jobs and supplementing with shoplifting and whatever charity he could guilt out of their neighbours, and it was still just not enough to keep himself and three younger siblings afloat. Then he’s approached by the foundation cause he’s relatively fit and has a good handle on guns and with who his parents are it’s not considered a risk, and all he can find himself looking at in the paperwork is the salary amount. Claire is just old enough that he can get her into the youngest level of schooling if he fudges her paperwork a bit. If he can get his siblings up in the morning, send them off to school, and each has an after-school activity of some kind, that gives him 6-7 hours of time before he has to go pick them up and the foundation says they can work with that limitation. What they don’t mention are the nightmares that start waking him up in a cold sweat, the way it gets harder to touch his siblings because he feels like he’ll taint them, the time Jack found him washing his hands over and over and over again at the sink at 2am in a trance until his skin was red raw and Mikell doesn’t even remember getting out of bed. But he can’t quit, because for the first time in a very very long time, all their bills are somewhat up to date, he was able to get clothing for his siblings that wasn’t repaired hand-me-downs, they finally can afford enough food that he doesn’t have to skip meals to make sure the others get enough to eat. So he stays quiet and toughs it out. Because, what other choice does he have?

Holy shit AAA. I think once Mikell started to be able to get money and able to buy better things for his siblings it felt like it a normal family but Jack of course knew something was up. They are getting way more expensive things than what Mikell could have afford even if he saved up for months. And the fact he sees Mikell’s personality change so much and how jumpy he’s become. Jack tried so many times asking where all of this money is coming from because it is terrifying him, Tj and Claire are happy about getting new things and so is Jack but not in the expense of his brother changing so much. He wants to stop Mikell from doing whatever he was doing to get all this money cause it was clearly hurting Mikell but it was the first time in their lives where they didn’t have to eat scraps or steal or be huddled up together shivering to keep warm in the night. So he doesn’t say anything. Jack tries so hard to graduate as fast as he can, get a good job, be there to share the burden for Mikell so he could once in his life to just relax and to take care of himself instead of worrying about them Jan 22 //

you ever think how mikell kinda interalized his childhood and assumed this was just how family works till he starts getting help and has that moment of no, this wasnt normal or something he should have had to deal with. that he should have been allowed to be a kid, thats hes allowed to be upset that he lost so much

Oh yeah definitely but it would be so hard to recognize that what he went through was not normal, cause I think whenever he has told people as a kid that he was the one to look after his siblings in their parent’s place all the adults would praise him and say how wonderful and responsible he is for his age. It was all praise for him that he grew up so fast and that he was like an adult, they never told him that he should have act like a kid or to enjoy his childhood And he is just so angry about everything but he is most angry at himself, but even now he really doesn’t know what he could have done differently, it was needed for him to grow up fast right? It’s really not just with Mikell but also with Jack, the fact that now they finally realize how distant they are to eachother hit them hard cause what the hell were they doing for all of their childhood for. Things that Mikell is good at that become sad when you think about his childhood: he can sew really well and can restore clothing from any state that’s better than scraps, he’s really good at budgeting and making minimal resources last as long as possible, he knows how to make as many meals as possible from limited ingredients, he can work through the hunger pangs of skipped meals, it’s very rarely seen in the present time but he can calm down fussy toddlers with surprising efficiency, he’s an expert at multitasking and finding opportunities to slot in extra work, he can push himself through any illness or injury that isn’t hospital worthy and even then he’ll try

That! I was looking for that word thank you anon. Mikell at a young age really had to try to grow up so quickly in order to take care of his younger siblings. He did all of that unconsciously and he had pushed Jack away multiple times whenever he tried to help Mikell to lessen the burdens but of course Mikell didn’t listen to him just telling Jack to just focus on going to school, to keep living as they always has done But now Mikell is really looking back at their childhood and how he lost so much of himself to try and keep everything under control which didn’t work out at all and it hurt everyone he cared about in the end

Kondraki and Clef usually charge TJ to hang their drawings in their offices, this applies to their four children, Jack and Mikell start having drawings in their office since they slowly try to create a relationship with TJ. With the young Mikell taking care of his family, I imagine that without knowing he is copying the behavior of his absent parents, which is not talking

Yeah! Jack and Mikell slowly getting closer to Tj and it is evident with the drawings they have in their offices. And oh young Mikell..he is really trying to fill the role of their absent parents so badly, he wants Jack and Tj to live comfortably but he is following in their parent’s footsteps and began to distant himself. I think even now he has a bad habit of not telling them things and putting a wall in between them and carrying the responsibilities all himself which I mean look at him now and how that is going for him, it really just made him so distant between him and his siblings and they act so much like strangers especially when they see eachother in the Foundation ask anon mikell Jan 22 // Personal headcanon of mine incoming: Mikell wound up having to drop out of school as a teenager to try and keep up with caring for his siblings. Oh!! This is really good They both really care about their family but Mikell’s stubbornness keeps getting in the way. Mikell really wants Jack and Tj to live a normal life, go to school, have fun, actually have a place they can come home to and he is taking all the responsibilities on himself because ‘I am the eldest and I have to protect my younger siblings and to make sure they can live out a normal life and not burden them’ he really tries to let them live blissfully ignorant but that just made Jack and him more distant because Jack knows something is up and Mikell can’t keep this up anymore cause fuck he is still a kid, he is starting to feel things are spiraling out of his control and he is going to break down sooner or later

Loving all of this, I think those three really need to talk things out whether they try and repair their once family or not, because really when was the last time the three of them got together as siblings and just talked. You know what I am putting my tags here cause YEAH THE BRIGHT SIBLINGS GOT A FUCKED UP CHILDHOOD They were forced to grow up so fast, Mikell really did try to take care of his younger siblings at the house but fuck he was still a kid and having to be responsible for them is stressful. He didn’t really know what he was doing or how to provide for them but he didn’t want Jack or Tj to worry so he never said anything to them which only led to miscommunication especially to Jack who didn’t understand why his brother is becoming so distant and just became so irritated since Mikell would never tell him anything And for Tj he was too young to really understand what was going on, there was too much of an age difference compared to Jack and Mikell for him to comprehend the situation but the environment felt stressful. Younger kids are so sharp when it comes to changes and he knew something was wrong,but he was terrified to ask what was happening Just all this miscommunication just led to more miscommunications and they became more distant to eachother and now they are kids who grew up as adults who lost their innocence of childhood too young

Yeah I think at this point Jack and Mikell need to talk to eachother about Tj. I honestly don’t think they are upset that Tj thinks of Clef and Kondraki as his family rather they are upset that he doesn’t see them as family anymore which to be honest those two really are kinda shit siblings to begin with, yeah prefoundation days they were pretty close but now not so much Mikell is off doing o5 stuff, Jack doing is own things, and Tj is just stuck there alone in a containment cell. Oh christ, Canon Kon isn’t as friendly or has that ‘dad instinct’ as BS story Kon at all, he is the same gruff asshole who will murder a person without a second thought bastard we all know.

Mikell falling into this universe unknowingly and just finding out that something weird is going on and he doesn’t know what to do and so he goes to the person who he can rely on which is Kondraki. And just their meeting didn’t turn out well, Mikell expecting Kon to be the same person who had taken care of him and his siblings and played a parental role for them but is now being cursed at and he can feel a murderous intent staring right at him

_yeah canon konny doesnt like any of the o5s Feb 2 // BS Mikell is going to need a lot of care and reassurance once he goes back to his own world. The idea that it could have all been a dream, or that he was being tricked and none of it was ever real, is absolutely terrifying to him.

BS and Canon meet for a brief moment on their way switching back. BS feels pity for the version of him who never found a way out, a way to a better and happier life, while Canon shocks himself by realising he feels envy towards his counterpart. He was able to fix things, he was able to let go of the guilt and old lingering fears, he was able to find a way to get everything he wanted and more. The two are almost unrecognisable at this point. And canon can’t let go of himself enough to ask how he did it.

Yeah, Canon Mikell throughout that whole experience is just really shocked, he had always had thought that ‘this is how things turned out, its too late to fix it at this point’ and he was just wildly proven wrong and just BS Mikell sees a time where if he hadn’t changed what would had happened to himself and his siblings. Their experience was different in eachothers worlds

Feb 2 // Just reread the Mikell birthday thing and thought: Mikell doesn’t know his own birthday. With years and years passing by without ever really having anything to note the day, it just became unimportant information in his mind. He could tell you the month, maybe, and how many years old he is, but the exact day? No way

Oof yeah, birthdays for himself wasn’t really a day he celebrated or probably cared for that matter, he usually did something small for his sibling’s birthdays but for himself? Nope but when all of them decided to throw him a surprise birthday he had probably cried

Imagine the next Bright Family Reunion, with Adam mysteriously missing and the three brothers all close and happy again, and they’re all talking together about other members of their family (non-Brights!! Everyone who’s not a part of the foundation, and even some that are, are completely baffled and maybe a little frightened by the changes; they have no idea what to make of it

In middle school, I was obsessed with a couple of characters that had horse-features. That includes Foaly (Artemis Fowl), Mr. Tumnus (yes, the faun from Narnia...), and Grover (Percy Jackson). Heck, I didn't even like the PJO series but I read it for GROVER. Just for him!! My friends thought it was so bizarre how I gravitated to these characters and nicknamed me hoofgirl. My original tumblr account was called hoofgirl, but I deleted it later on after it became old and inactive XD then made a new blog with the same username I go by on IG, ohnomyhooves!

If you could have any job you wish, what would you have?

I want a career in developing nuclear fusion technologies so bad. If that fails, my next (and very different) idea of a dream job would be to work at an aquarium. I love fish like nobody's business. Fish are awesome.

Drawing with pen on paper with no sketch or guidelines. This is such a weird flex but on a good day I can go straight to lineart with perfect anatomy, but ONLY on paper XD for some reason this never works digitally lol

Cooking meat. I hate it. I'm not vegetarian, but since living alone I've basically become vegetarian out of how much I dislike cooking with meat, and now I'm actually considering going completely veg!

CH 3.

Roman had really went a little over board for Luna's birthday. He flew the two of you and his parents out to the city he was in then once home in Tampa he flew your father and three out of four siblings out so both families could be with Luna. He rented out the aquarium for the day because Luna was currently obsessed with fish and sea creatures. That's not including her gifts. One being a toy car a Range Rover that he had custom made just for her with her name printed on the front seats and birthday on license plate.  

You were sitting watching your dad show Luna the sharks when you felt a hand creep around waist. You see Roman who was now placing his hand on your growing belly trying to not be noticeable.

"Can you believe she's too already" you say leaning your head on his shoulder.

Chapter 17

The apartment was a mess; the books were a mess. Admittedly, the latter less so than she had anticipated, which was nice. Unlike her husband, Killian still tried.

Murchadh had no reason to try and impress her anymore.

Well, he’d surprised her, stunned her even, she had to give him that. Just as the messy kitchen, his obsession with the creature shouldn’t have come as a surprise exactly, but the extent of it had still rendered her speechless.

“She responded well to the aloe?” Milah looked up from her half-finished Southern Cobb salad and smiled at her husband. “I’m glad.” She watched him lower his fork, mashed potato and sauce dripping onto his plate. He closed his mouth and swallowed.

“Uh, yes. Very… well.” His eyes narrowed, but only by a fraction.

“How nice.” She dabbed at the corners of her smile with her napkin. “Who would have thought mermaids got sunburn?!” She turned to Baelfire. “That’s why we always put on sunscreen at the pool, Baelfire.”

Baelfire rolled his eyes as he took a big gulp of his soda. She didn’t normally allow soft drinks in the house, let alone at the dinner table, but, as this was their first proper night home and the last weekend of Baelfire’s summer break, she had made the exception. She wouldn’t, however, let him forget his manners.

Murchadh beat her to it.

“Bae!” He put his fork and knife down and leaned closer to look directly at their son. “Don’t be rude to your mother, my boy.”

She almost felt proud of him then – before he ruined the effect with a push-over smile. He was such a softie.

“Sorry.” Baelfire sat back in his chair, looking everything but. Tanned and freckle-faced, he fought back that cheeky grin she loved so much. For once, his goofy ears weren’t red from nerves or anxiety, but from being a regular little boy on his summer vacation. She would take all the ripped jeans, grass stains, and busted lips – and even tolerate a little backtalk every now and then – if it meant her little man finally acted like one.

“Baelfire, please sit up straight and finish your dinner,” she said.

The boy huffed before stuffing a forkful of potato in his mouth. He finished chewing his food in silence, then pushed away his plate. “I’m full.” Catching her eye, he quickly added, “May I be excused?”

She and Murchadh shared a look across the table.

“You may. But please, play in your room quietly.”

“But –, Can’t I–?”

“You heard your mother.”

What had gotten into Murchadh tonight? Whatever it was, Milah decided she liked it.

“Fine.” With a sigh, Baelfire got up and carried his plate to the sink. Stepping on the stepping stool, he washed his hands and dried them. “Can I go play Star Wars?”

Murchadh’s eyebrows shot up, his fork frozen halfway to his mouth. He looked so baffled and confused, it made her laugh. She quickly stifled her amusement to a cough and hid it behind her hand. “Alright, Baelfire, but only fifteen minutes. And please, brush your teeth and put on your pajamas first.”

“Okay.” He hopped off and dashed out of the room, hollering “Will you come and tuck me in, Papa?,” back over his shoulder.

“A gift from his grandmother.” Milah took a sip of her wine and crossed her legs under the table. “All the boys are playing it now.”

“Uh-huh.”

“He had a lot of fun, you know?” She set her glass down, ran a finger along the rim. “His butterfly is getting better. He’s got great wingspan and power for his age, Murchadh. Maybe, once school starts over in town, swim team tryouts might not be such a bad idea. It’ll be good for him. What do you think?”

He liked when she asked his opinion. She hadn’t done that in a long time. Judging by the creases on his forehead, it seemed to confuse him even more than the casual mention of Star Wars in their kitchen.

She blinked, played with an earring.

“Well, if… if that’s what Bae wants, yes. I mean, if he would like to do it… sure.” He let out a breath.

 “I agree.” She wet her lips. They tasted like wine, the fresh and fruity a clean counterpoint to her salad’s earthy, smoky flavors. “We could ask him tomorrow?”

He shoveled more potato into his mouth, taking his good time to chew. “Fine with me.”

Well, this wasn’t going as smoothly as she had hoped, but he’d always been slow that way. She would have to give him some more time– to adjust, to warm up to the changes ahead.

“So,” She poured herself another glass. When she gestured to refill his, he covered it and shook his head. He wasn’t big on booze. Not anymore. She set the bottle down and smiled, leaving her own drink untouched as she leaned forward, moving her plate and resting her arms on the table. “Has Dr. Whale set up a follow-up appointment yet?”

“Erm, no, actually. He… he’s still looking for… erm, asking around, I guess.”

“It has been weeks though, hasn’t it?” She rested her chin on her hand, eyeing him. “He’s usually more invested.” She took care to add a pinch of concern. “That’s not… like Whale, is it?” Marriage was like cooking. You just had to know what to add when, and how much salt was too much. As long as you used what the recipe called for and had good intuition about the rest, the dish would come out perfect.

“It’s complicated. She’s… her anatomy is different.” He put his knife and fork down for good, folded his napkin and left it next to his plate.

“Really? Different how?”

Hook, line, and sinker. He considered her, but she had already won. She could see it in the way his body language changed. He no longer slouched in his seat, but sat up with his back straight, his shoulders back, and head up when he met her gaze.

“You– you remember the Legend of the Treaty?”

“Yes, of course.” She did not. Something about mermaids… or sirens, sinking ships, some fish gore? That might have been another one. Or a weird movie one sleepless night too many. “I heard it often enough.” She touched his arm and laughed. “What about it?”

His eyes lit up. So much like Bae’s – when she let him have a rare Apollo Bar or brought home a new book on marine life. “You remember how the story described mermaids as having a kindred connection with... with dolphins and humans alike? How they were somehow both and neither? It’s like that.”

“Oh, how so?”

“She’s… human-looking, at least on the outside, but her spine’s... more like a dolphin’s. You know, both and neither, Ocean Ambassador to Land, that sort of thing. It’s fascinating!” Hands steepled, he braided and unbraided his fingers over his plate. “But it’s also the problem. Her spine… it leaves her vulnerable.”

“If this is about Gus Gaston again… I said I was sorry.” She didn’t raise her voice even though she wanted to. Now was not the time to fight. “It… she might have hurt the children, Murchadh. Wounded animals–”

He raised a hand to silence her and, for once, she let him. If mother had taught her one thing it was when to bite her tongue. “No, no, Milah! It’s not about that. Though the situation could have been handled better.” He pinched the bridge of his nose, shook his head like a wet dog. “What’s done is done. The infection would have spread further and… what I’m concerned about right now is that, in the healing process, she’s… changed her swimming and... it’s taken its toll on her body. If– If we don’t fix this, she might die.”

The death of the mermaid would ruin everything. It would be their undoing. It would cost their son his future. She wouldn’t let that happen.

His eyes were wide and worry-filled. He looked at her like he’d done so many times before, lost, and desperate for comfort and guidance; desperate for someone to take the lead and row the boat away from the dangerous coastline into safe waters.

She reached for Murchadh’s hands. “What do we have to do?”

He couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t so much that he’d expected to spend the night in his study or on the sofa, and instead found himself in the Master bedroom, sleeping next to his wife for the first night in what felt like forever. As he lay on his back staring at the ceiling and listening to her sleep, Gold marveled at the strange turn his day had taken, wondering what had prompted Milah’s sudden change of heart.

Ever since she and Bae had returned from Montgomery Manor, Milah was nothing but understanding and supportive. She even showed an interest in his work. Something she hadn’t done in years.

He rolled over and studied her face. Her eyes were closed, her jaw relaxed, her lips their natural shade and slightly parted. She had taken her time combing out her curls at the vanity and left them down for bed, the soft waves fanning out around her like dancing corals in a warm current. She looked so much younger; so much more like the girl he’d admired from afar every day one summer; the girl who bravely braced any wave; the girl he’d fallen in love with.

With a shaky breath, he touched her cheek, brushed a curl behind her ear. She smelled soft and powdery, a whiff of coconut filling the dark space between them. “What are you thinking, Milah?”

While he didn’t get an answer in so many words, he got one over the next few days.

Milah’s positive attitude was unwavering, her newfound enthusiasm and dedication heartwarming. She had borrowed some of the books from his study, the old tomes and scrolls he’d inherited from his aunties, reading up on all the myths and legends.

More often than not, long after they had tucked in Bae for the night, he would find his wife in her office upstairs, pouring over ancient scribbles, runes, and stories; squinting at fading ink and scrutinizing every picture and drawing in the harsh light from her computer and desk lamp; her reading glasses pushed up on her head, her curls wild, and eyes pink from exhaustion, looking for a clue; looking for anything that might help them save Indigo.

Sometimes, during the day, he would walk in to find her sprawled out on the living room floor in her work clothes with her heels kicked off and set aside, in the middle of a heated debate on mermaid or marine mammal physique and behavior with Bae; open books, notepads, and pens strewn all across the once pristine carpets as they put forward opposing arguments to argue for their respective viewpoints like members of debate teams during a competition.

He still wasn’t sure what had brought the change in her about, but he felt himself warming up to it– and to her– more and more with every passing day. Perhaps their son had finally gotten through to his mother during their time away. Whatever the reason behind it, it had brought them closer as a family and Gold felt grateful for that. More than anything, he wanted his son to grow up loved and happy, and to give him the best childhood he possibly could.

Since their return, they had spent more time together, both he and Milah making sure to plan their work around important things like family dinners and weekend trips. Those had become more frequent again recently. Just like when Bae was little. They went to the beach, visited the ship museum in Piper’s Cove, took Bae and his friend Emma Nolan to the movies. Milah had met up with Mrs. Nolan a couple of times to talk about the school in town, set up meetings with the principal and the swim coach.

Overall, things were looking up. The only damper on his mood was that they still hadn’t found a solution to Indigo’s problem.

“Coming to bed?” He stood in the door, watching Milah copy down something from an open book in front of her and cross-checking whatever it was in another. Eyes fixed on the page, jaw set, and pen poised like a steak knife, she hadn’t heard a single word or noticed his presence. On her desk, the sandwiches he’d brought her for dinner sat untouched on their plate; the tea cold in the teapot beside it. “Milah?”

She looked up briefly, her mind occupied and far away. He’d always admired this about her – her grit and determination, and strong work ethic. Once Milah set her mind on getting a job done, there was no stopping her. She wouldn’t rest until she had accomplished her goal. It was the competitive swimmer in her, she said.

“Your dinner is getting cold,” he jested, stepping into her office and indicating the abandoned tray. “It’s past midnight. Come to bed?”

She frowned at her notes, possibly clinging to her train of thought by the handrail. “In a minute. I just– come look at this!”

“One look, and then you’ll let me fix you a warm milk.” He moved behind her chair, kneading her shoulders as he leaned over to see what she’d been working on. “Eviction notice for the resident workaholic. Effective immediately.”

He recognized the pages she’d worked on. All different versions of the merpeople creation story. She’d copied down some paragraphs, highlighted sections here and there, and crossed out some words. Or maybe she had meant to underline them. Milah was a steam engine when fired up, her mind outracing her body.

“We can pick this up tomorrow.”

She gave in to his touch, rolling her shoulders under his hands as though to help and sighing as he carefully worked out the knots and massaged away the tension. “Okay. Fine. …How about you spice up that milk a little? I could use a nightcap.”

“Some honey for my bee?”

“Murchadh.”

“Alright, alright. Just joking.” He gave her shoulders one last squeeze. “I’ll be right back. You close those books and shut that machine down.” He nodded at her laptop. It glared at him reproachfully; hard blue light and blinking cursor. She had looked up someone, begun writing them a message. “Who is… The Mills Foundation?”

“People who might know how to help.” She closed the laptop and rolled her neck. “Maybe.”

“That’s great.” He pressed a kiss to her curls. “Thank you.”

“I need a better chair.” She stood, bookmarked her place in four books and one scroll with yellow post-it strips, and took his hand to lead him out of the room. “This one’s killing my back.”

“We’ll get you one tomorrow.” He grinned. “Or maybe a Stability Ball.”

“Absolutely not. I hate those things.”

“I know you do, Manatee.” He smirked. “A new lamp then. You’re ruining your eyes.”

“A new lamp I can live with,” she said, sinking down on the kitchen bench, taking Bae’s usual spot at the table. Their boy was at a sleepover at the Nolan’s house. “The black one is rubbish.” She rubbed her eyes. “And ugly.”

“Your mother gave you that lamp for Christmas.” He got out a pot, milk, and honey, and set them on the counter; then took her favorite mug from the sink and rinsed it. Bae had decorated it for Mother’s Day: a large, wonky heart and schools of colorful fish dancing all around it, having the time of their lives. The heart read ‘I love you, Mummy! – From Bae’ in Bae’s best handwriting.

“I know.”

They both laughed.

talk to me about Elijah Forrest and his parents!!! (important: does he have a bar mitzvah and does he ever get a baby sibling)

ahhhh sweet Elijah, he is just like the Best Boy. he’s very smart and sassy and silly, the perfect little combination of both Elle and Emmett. he hits a lot of his milestones early as he’s growing up, and is already reading by the time he gets to pre-k. his parents are unspeakably proud of him, and they cherish each new thing thing he learns and accomplishes. Elle gets into scrapbooking after he’s born, and keeps a very diligent baby book noting each new thing he does.

before he starts daycare, Emmett’s mom is their go-to babysitter. she is absolutely head over heels crazy about her grandson, and lives for hanging out with him all week. but every now and then, when work isn’t bad, Elle and Emmett will play hooky for a day and take their boy to do something fun around Boston. Eli loves the aquarium, and could stand in front of that giant column fish tank thing for hours just watching all the fish go by. He also loves being near the aquarium because they can sit by the water and watch the boats.

in school, it becomes clear that he’s a really bright kid, and he gets put in the gifted classes and things. Elle and Emmett are really careful with him to make sure they teach him good study habits early. they don’t want him to coast for years and then suddenly find himself struggling later on, so they work with him to be a good student and to find the best homework and study methods that work for him. they push him and encourage him to challenge himself in school, but they’re careful to never force him to go past his limits. that also goes for sports and activities, like if he tries soccer for a while and ends up hating it, they wouldn’t force him to keep playing it.

that also is how they feel about Hebrew school! they start him in Sunday school when he’s in 1st grade, because it’s important to Emmett that he learn about Judaism that way. but they talk to him about it pretty regularly, especially as he gets older and starts the process of studying for his bar mitzvah. they want him to do it for himself, and not feel like he’s doing it for them or anyone else. it’s a personal milestone, and if he doesn’t want to take that step or doesn’t feel like he’s ready to, then they won’t make him. but I think he decides to go for it, and he learns and studies, and really puts his heart into it. his mitzvah project is volunteering at battered women’s shelters in Roxbury, where his dad grew up. he starts a storytime program at one of them for kids who are living there, and goes each weekend to read books to the kids there. he also donates a good portion of the money he gets as presents to that shelter to buy books and games for the kids. Elle and Emmett are unspeakably proud of him, and they can’t believe how lucky they got to have such a great kid.

as far as a younger sibling, I think maybe when he’s like 6 or 7, Elle gets pregnant very much as a surprise. they had always kind of talked about having more children but never did because their jobs keep them busy, and Eli is a busy kid so it just never happened, until it does by surprise. on their 10th anniversary they leave Eli with his grandmother and get a hotel room downtown and drink way too much with dinner before going back to their room and celebrating some more. then a few weeks later Elle starts to feel nauseous and notices that she’s late, and she just knows. she takes a home test and surprises Emmett with the news and they’re both shocked but overjoyed at getting to add to their family.

after the first sonogram, they take Eli out for a nice dinner and surprise him with the news. they get him a card for a big brother and put the sonogram picture inside of it, and write a cute note that’s something along the lines of “dear Eli, I can’t wait to meet you next year! I know you’re going to be the best big brother ever. love, your future sibling” and this kid starts crying in the restaurant because he’s so happy. he can’t wait to have a new baby in the family, and he does absolutely everything he can to help while Elle is pregnant. he helps decorate the nursery and gives Elle back rubs and is obsessed with feeling the baby kick. when his sister Emma (they had to keep the E thing going at this point) is born, he always wants to be with her. Elle and Emmett find him asleep either on the floor next to her crib or in the rocking chair in her room more than once. he’s an amazing big brother, and loves to play with her and look out for her however he can.

A Father’s Fishy Dreams

So my oldest daughter is turning four soon, and I'm getting her a fish tank for her birthday. Well, the tank is already set up, but she's not getting the fish until her actual birthday in two weeks. And the thing is, it's kind of an underhanded gift. I may have planted the idea in her head. You know the whole, "Do you want ­­­­____ for your birthday!?" scheme? Every parent does it. We use our influence to get our kids excited about the things that excite us. And to be honest, I'm really excited about getting an aquarium. But maybe not for the reason you'd expect.

Father's Day was this past Sunday, and days like that always get me thinking. What does it really mean to be a father? Why do we deserve a day celebrating us? To answer the first question in the simplest way possible, I'd say fathers offer protection, love, and education to their children. Protection's easy—in America, at least. Work hard, provide shelter and food, and be there when they need you. Love, well, that can be a challenge depending on your background. Love is learned, and passing it on can be hard if you never received it yourself. For me, it comes fairly easy since I grew up in a pretty traditional home, full of laughs, fights, and compassion. That just leaves education. And boy, does education cover a lot of bases…

How to swim. Riding a bicycle. Counting to twenty. Saying, "Thank you." Looking both ways before crossing the street. The list can feel overwhelming, well… most of the time. More importantly, it can feel like a job, which has a way of crushing all of the excitement and creativity out of the opportunity. All of those things we thought about when we were younger. "When I have kids, I'm going to be sure to teach them ____." But the first thing you learn about parenthood is that it's 90% survival, 9% epic failure, and 1% everything we thought parenting was going to be. But man, that 1% is so worth it.

In my case, I filled in that blank with my own passions—the things that brought me happiness and fulfillment. Compassion for others—the ability to see everyone as equals—was huge in my upbringing, and it has served me well into adulthood. And God willing, my children will enjoy the same level-headedness. A thoughtful mind and a discerning eye, too, were huge in forming my personality and growing my appreciation for the world around me. And one specific outpouring of that trait is something that I vowed to pass on to my children—an appreciation for nature. 

Now, it's easy for people to say they're animal lovers. But being a dog lover or a cat lover isn't what I'm talking about. Most people who obsess over their domesticated pets do so with a hefty amount of transference. They see them more as people, vital parts of their social constructs. I'm not getting into whether this borders on psychosis or not (we all go a little crazy sometimes), but it's just not the same as having a true appreciation for all things natural—living and otherwise.

To walk through a quiet forest, understanding the ebb and flow of birdsong and squirrel barks. To notice a deer print, a wild blackberry bush, or an out-of-place rock formation. To stop people from killing wolf spiders and a black snakes because they're the "good ones." And to pull over on the drive home because the sunset is particularly breathtaking. These are the things that connect me with something older and infinitely more important than iPhones and insurance premiums.

I would like to say that I've grown to appreciate these things through my own wisdom, but that's just not true. A part of it may be genetic—a biological mishmash resulting in a heightened appreciation for Mother Nature, but I imagine most of it came from how I grew up—fifteen miles out of town down a gravel road, trees for miles on every side, and no cell or cable service. It allowed for a childhood that I wouldn't trade for anything, and one that I desperately want for my own children. The problem is, somehow I landed smack dab in the middle of town, and my little girls don't know anything more than highway noise and privacy fences.

And now maybe you understand why I wanted my little city girl to have a fish tank. As a kid, I had every pet you can think of—dogs, cats, fish, frogs, turtles, snakes, spiders, lizards, parakeets, geese, ducks, chickens, rabbits, goats, a ferret, a squirrel, a raccoon, and even a short-tailed possum. And I'm sure I'm forgetting something. So when my almost-four-year-old said she wanted a rabbit for her birthday, a little withered part of my heart sprang to life. Thankfully, even though I'm a child trapped in a man's body, I occasionally have a lapse of maturity. Which meant that my lovely wife (who is firmly in the, "we don't need any stinky, wild animals in our home" camp) and I compromised with fish for our oldest daughter's first pet(s).

And in case I haven’t mentioned it yet, I'm a little excited. There are few nobler pursuits than that of opening the door for my first-born's appreciate of nature—her love of nature. I mean, maybe it won't happen. Maybe she'll neglect the fish. Maybe she'll pour a cup of sugar in the water and kill them all, then shrug and finish her episode of Paw Patrol. But maybe she'll actually take her role as a caretaker seriously. Maybe she'll be a faithful steward and mature with the responsibility. Maybe that maturity will grow into passion and deep appreciation. And maybe next year, if she's ready, she'll get that rabbit. But only if she doesn't decorate the cage in pinks and purples, because I'm pretty sure there’s nothing natural about these colors.

for type, im vry easily wooed by butches tbh

as for myself, im genderfluid + heavily lean towards butch-ish for one gender + have been gettin more comf w that term for myself. the 3 genders i switch between, ive described as sharp, dainty and tired, for reason of not really being comf w gender labels aside from nonbinary. sharp/tired r kinda butchish, moreso sharp. like leather jackets, ripped jeans, dress pants/shirts, defs flannels (which r a given for any mood im in tbh) while tired is like mb softer, more focused on flannels + loose tank tops/shirts, shorts + certain skirts, comfy clothes, and the like   

ive found that i’m leaning more towards butch lately too, like i’ve been a lot more comfortable with pants and a nice top than i have w dresses or most skirts + im wondering if i was just hanging on to femininity for sake of society, so those r things 2 think abt. i still feel comf in them sometimes, but it’s getting much less often. gender’s weird, i still cant cling to one bc of how pressuring that is so genderfluidity is still smth for me + it shifting to different percentages is okay (im thinking out loud @ this point, but its helping so i hope its interesting to read)

aaahh theres a lot of diff aesthetics i could go into, but i have a tag if ur interested in a visual representation? basically, cosy homes, forests, wooden steps and bridges, cats, girls/nbs, water, plants, and old video game stuff, and clouds/skies. i’m sure there’s more in there, but for a good rule of thumb !! as for like dressing aesthetic, i like to look rly gay + attractive and a lil showy? like my shorts r Short and i love crop tops + a lot of my shirts show my bra thru them, + i like showing it when i can, like sports bra + a tank top is a fav look of mine bc i can make it look like my bra is a trim on the shirt + it’s cute. i’ve been wearing dresses less often, but occasionally, i like to rock one. id love a pair of combat boots but i have like size 11/12 feet + most stores dont carry that size + im hesitant to buy some online. 

7. Favorite pair of shoes?

its rly hard to find any, i have like walmart converse knockoffs atm + theyre a beige/grey color im not that huge on, it kinda reminds me of sandalwood but depressed

there was the undercut!! and i have that down now c: next step is to dye it blue and mb some purple. i wanna bleach it if i’m gonna dye it, but im hesitant to do that bc of how damaging it is, but since my hair’s been cut a cpl time almost all the color is out now, so i think itll b ok if i take good care of it.

i went to a cafe w someone (i think they were nb but i cant remember, it was like 2 yrs ago about ) and they were impossible to talk to bc they just kept saying “im awkward sorry” @ everything and like any conversations i tried to maintain were all one-shot responses, and like that was a lil frustrating. like i dont hold it against them or anything, more in a sense of i was rly tryin 2 carry it and just couldnt

hmmmm i havent thought much about it !! i know when i was younger i wanted to wear a black wedding dress but now im thinkin mb a suit that switches to dress @ the bottom?? that could b cool. I’d be happy w anything tbh, if im getting married, i’d just b happy to be w my wife/spouse. mb somewhere in a forest or on a boat would b cool, defs lots of good food and colorful flowers. I’d like a lot of color, most weddings ive been to are just b/w and bland for my taste (they’ve also all been straight tho so theres that.) it’s kind of wild to think that i might b married someday, but it’d b rly nice. i just haven’t thought much abt the planning of one. it’d b rly gay tho, probs give out tiny gay flags at each seat, and the cake could b lesbian flag colors. im rly drawing a blank on this, but i know id want all my friends around the country + world to be there. 

17. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

i definitely want to live in a port town at some point !! idk where i’d like to settle down, ideally somewhere that doesnt get much hotter than 90 degrees + has lots of parks + is big enough for some events, like pride stuff, little festivals, a farmer’s market, and places to do things, such as a movie theater, bowling alley, mb an aquarium, if not one in a nearby town. hiking trails r also good.

on a sunbeam!!! its a huge inspiration for me, and i love it so much. it always puts me in such a good mindset when i read it, and the artist is my age, so it makes me feel like I can also accomplish great things if i rly put my heart into it!! which is such a good feeling, and it has great representation + characters that i love, and its rly gay, and in space and theres ships shaped like fish + its gorgeous : D i could go on for hrs abt it + how important it is to me. theres an nb character too, and like the aspect of found families is one that rly hits home and it helped me get thru a rough time of my life + better accept myself as queer/gay.

talking abt being gay w other girls/nbs is lovely and cathartic, i never got to growing up bc i lived in a homophobic town + i was like dealing heavily with internalized homophobia and body/gender dysphoria so i was ace for a bit. talking more abt like sexual attraction + aesthetic attraction is new to me, and that’s been a process to get to, but it’s nice that I can now do so w/o being belittled or barraged by insult. i also just love the thought of being w someone, and daydreaming abt when that happens is really nice. also,, girls + nbs r a blessing and brighten my day and im so glad im attracted 2 them

absolutely communication, that’s a need. i had a bad experience w someone bc she wasn’t communicative at all, and failed to tell me that we weren’t dating despite us going on several dates + kissing??? like i wont go too into it, but hatchi matchi it was a mess. so yeah, communication, affection, and like reassurance that they actually want to be with me, and that my presence is wanted and enjoyed. I got a lot of “i dont care”s for answers last sort-of relationship, and that was rly discouraging. another turn on is for them to initiate talking and things, like holding hands or planning to hang out + such. consent is another big one.

i usually tend to ask them out, but im still dealing w internalized junk, so its difficult. i also havent any situations in which they liked me back, which is frustrating. like i got lead on earlier summer for abt a month until i asked what we were doing + didnt rly get an answer, and it was this whole mess. i generally try to make the first move tho, bc i know firsthand how difficult it is, but that being said, it’s still hard for me to know for sure if theyre interested + i dont wanna make things uncomf w them, so i’ll wait until i think there might b attraction. that being said, once that’s all out of the way, i like to consider myself a good flirt when im trying.

i have lots of interests!! im obsessed w steven universe, its my fav show (and if u ever have time, we should totally watch it together sometime, i rly think you’d love it, it’s super gay + heartwarming.) i really love playing music and learning new songs, which im rly great at memorizing. talking to friends + gettin 2 know them better is always nice and fun. i like to draw new things + see the different ways ppl draw, so seeing art on here is always fun for me. i’m also rly into polygon videos (it’s a youtube channel, not like videos abt polygon haha) and this podcast called the adventure zone. season one just ended, so i might start listening to another one called friends at the table. i rly wanna start a podcast w someone, but can never find anyone to start it with. idk what I’d talk abt but if i could find a partner for it, i think it’d be a lot of fun. mb smth abt games or books/queer representation in media. doing a dnd podcast would also b rly fun, but a lot of work + editing so mb later down the road !! im blanking on other interests atm, but animations and cartoons r lovely and i aim to make something in that field one day, if not just a comic.

my hobbies r mostlyyyy drawing, dnd things now every thursday, hanging w my friends, playing video games, sometimes writing (i rly wanna start a comic, and im tryin to get my butt into gear on it), goin to parks, listening to music, and goin 2 events w roe + cesar, two of my friends. sometimes ill play music!! i need to get more than the keyboard i’m lending, but i love performing. ill also watch leg birds on youtube, theyre a lesbian couple that plays gams + theyre rly sweet.

its easy for me to love friends, doesnt usu take me more than a few months of knowing them if were talking a lot. as for falling in love, that takes me a lot longer. ive never rly been in love w someone. i thought i was once, but rly it was just my first gay experience w someone and i wanted it to be perfect so i projected a lot of things + made it better than it seemed to myself for the duration of it, which wasn’t healthy, so i wanna avoid doing that again, + take things slower next time. or at least for what they are.

i used to be a vegetarian!! for like a yr, but it was difficult for me to eat and feel full, and i was pretty underweight, so i stopped.

both, i tend to stay up, but getting up early can be nice if i dont have to do anything. like just gently waking + making some tea and a nice breakfast + sittin around for a bit.

i’d like a partner or two, to get some bongos- i got to play some a couple weeks ago, and it was the most fun i’ve had playing anything!! having smth with an instant response that i could make up rhythms with was really rewarding and so much fun. i know i want a cat at some point, to go on cute dates + cuddle and kiss a lot w someone, to visit my friends in other places, dye my hair, get a better job, to travel a bit, make a comic, go to college for animation and storyboarding, mb go to camp at some point, and I’d like to make some more friends here, i’m already making some, which i’m super happy about, but it’s always nice meeting new ppl
