Yuusha Tala is the witty and sarcastic prefect of Ramshackle who tends to be open and blunt with people depending on the situation (this bluntness sometimes lands her in trouble). Sometimes her confident facade fails her because, for the most part, the way she presents herself is an attempt to exaggerate herself in order to make herself seem more outgoing. In any case, the prefect still doesn’t fail to be also headstrong and stubborn, refusing to let others step all over her.

💜 For the DND nerds: Yuusha has a high charisma stat who manages to roll consistently low and nat 1s. (For everyone else: Yuusha is a girlfailure whose social interactions fail her despite her confident attempts.)

💜 Can be very affectionate with people whenever she starts to vibe with them. And she tends to unashamedly throw around “I love you” a lot to those she genuinely cares a lot about to the point where it sounds disingenuous even though she does mean it earnestly.

💜 Caffeine addict™ and refuses to sleep unless necessary due to her nature as a workaholic. Yuusha knows that she becomes a very heavy sleeper and that she can be hard to wake up.

OKAY REALISING I AM RELISTENING TO THIS ALBUM FOR THE HUNDREDTH TIME JUST TODAY ACCIDENTALLY SO IIM GONNA QUICKLY WRITE DOWN MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS BC IM ALREADY BEGINNING TO ACTUALY THINK ABOUT THINGS AND LOOK AT LYRICS AND READ OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS, so here is an only slightly tainted not quite first impression of unreal unearth from me (obviously the singls ive heard before but)

de selby (part 1) i turned on the album sitting in the absolute dark, ten minutes past twelve at night, this started playing, cue instant tears. i think i was just hit with 'this is the most beautiful thing ive ever heard' and i wasn't expecting that from de selby 1 for some reason. and when the irish kicked in that just. no words, just crying and im what two minutes in. i wasn't even thinking about what he'd been saying about connemara in the dark and mirrors of people you used to know (i'd seen him talk about it, but purposefully skipped the actual song when it came up online) it was just. de selby 1. and the part as gaeilge

de selby (part 2) sexy groovy silly fun, it's really growing on me, thinking about 'i'd still know you, not being shown you

Lowkey I relate this song to Y/N because there’s just certain aspects about Miguel in this fic that also align with their universes Peter. Especially the whole staring thing mentioned in this chapter, how Miguel always looks at Y/N like Peter did, and Y/N smiles the same way that they did with Peter about Miguel. So I feel like this one once it’s listened to kinda speaks for itself but it definitely kinda sounds like how I would imagine Miguel would feel falling into this friendship / situationship / relationship. Because it starts off as that slow and staccatoed tempo before building up to tempo and suddenly it’s like he sees this person everywhere, not literally but metaphorically. Being able to associate this person with so many little things in life.

This song if you don’t know (and I apologize for explaining so much but I wanna be thorough, I’m sure you’ve listened to Hozier but y’know) Is about a man being so in love that he would endure the struggles in life all over again if he could be with his lover once again, and that their love is so powerful it is not meant for a place like heaven. This to me is a perfect ending song for Miguel x Y/N because! There has been so much of a build up, in this whole process I feel like by the end of it, Miguel would absolutely live the life he was given once more if it meant being with Y/N once more. Every single tragic event would be worth the pain because of the sheer love he would experience in the end.

his name is orpheus yes. i really wanted to name him after a a specific type of character. and if i had a nickle for every time a sad boy makes such sad music he gets gravely injured/killed by others because the music is so sad it upsets everyone so much they have to put a stop to it? well i'd have two nickles. so it was between orpheus (greek mythlogy) and nicholas (the vampire chronicles) and i went with orpheus since sirens are from greek mythlogy (though yes i know in greek mythology they are part bird not fish, but for my monster universe sirens and mermaids are both fish, and harpies can be the birds).

a song from the end of the year always sneaks in on my list and this year it was cheshire<3 the music is so intriguing and everything I love from the overtone piano to the harsh synth bass. 'Lalala's just always win .. they rly do. So catchy and wonderful and COOL which is exactly what I want from itzy. They are so cool!!!

9. Youth - Kihyun

it's just simply a beautiful song :( it's so familiar and homely ... it sounds nostalgic which ofc perfectly matches the theme of the song. the lyrics... so bittersweet and honest. 'I want to be happy without trying so hard' :( kihyun how dare. This genre, pop-rock sound, is so comforting to me and is the best vehicle for the emotions the lyrics speak about. It is ultimately I think just a wonderfully well-rounded and truthful song

8. MAISON - Dreamcatcher

the thematic message of this song is incredibly important and special and musically, it matches it, enhances it, Perfectly. It starts small and angry. And constant. There's not a moment to catch a breath and it rly feels like a fight. Then the outro... the reharmonisation of the chorus changed the energy completely, and the harmony is ascending as the choral voices are brought in and it feels Epic and Desperate. Where it started off as anger and confidence, the last chorus feels like a plea. It's so Emotive it's really beautiful

7. O - VERIVERY

incredible INCREDIBLE mixture of smoothness and harshness. The guitar is as sexy as rnb gets, the melody is smooth and catchy and fluid. And then the Sound.. it also has this fluidity but it is Harsh, it is Crunchy. There's metallic clangs and screeches, so much NOISE. It sounds like a machine malfunctioning underneath the smoothness of the melody, which thematically is beautiful and perfectly matches the beautiful mv. Just STUNNING it's so artistic

6. Guerrilla - ATEEZ

so this simply makes me go insane. One of the BEST intros to ever intro. The aggression and loudness in this song is so tangible and emotive but they vary it so well and create tension and release and shift dynamics so so well which is so refreshing for this style of song. The prechoruses allow some breath before the power of the chorus .. and then the post chorus... choi jongho... the tension along with the double time beat AAAA it hits sosososo hard every time. Overall just ..... choi jongho... CHOI JONGHO

5. MANIAC - Stray Kids

BEAUTIFUL beautiful modal mixture<3 sort've skz's first major venture into drastic modal mixture and it was Perfect (Phrygian dominant is just *chefs kiss*.) It mashed together both the brightness and darkness skz do so well and it just made a very interesting song that deserves my admiration. The Movement in the background is everything to me, the arpeggiators and percussion filling the space rly make it constantly interesting

4. Ring The Alarm - KARD

this song just Grooves. An addictive reggae beat with very pretty and satisfying harmony. And probably most of all the top line is just gorgeous, the melody is floaty and punchy at once. The lyrical change for the last chorus is so effective. And the OUTRO, the heavier instrumental for just a moment making me want to replay it every time<3 just exactly what a bop should be

this song is so odd and wonderful and FUN. truly set off the year in such a good way. The sonic textures are crazy. Billie's voices are so varied and expressive they can handle this kind of loud crazy track so well and it's incredibly impressive. And on top of that their stage presence is INSANE. This song made me fall for them it rly did, it's truly the definition of weird and wonderful

2. Adrenaline - Cravity

it is no surprise to anyone how much I love these boys and this year was just their year<3 this place could as easily go to party rock, i am still debating to this minute jfjf vity just filled this year with happy bops! ... the bass is INSANE firstly, the top line is so punchy and catchy. this song is just sososo fun and uplifting. it's filled to the brim with happy vibes and interesting sounds. The second verse just decides to change genre for a couple bars, the half-time sections don't get old and make a unique end to the chorus. just! happy music made interestingly and the outcome is very very cool

1. INVU - Taeyeon

... it is the most beautiful song to ever have blessed my ears. To me this is a perfect song, plain and simple. The production is so smooth and perfectly subtle and clear. I feel like I can hear every single sound they put in there. The top line is so smooth and clear too, and an incredible use of taeyeon's range. The vast space that the production creates allows her voice to sound raw and emotional and allows her the freedom to run, bend timings and sing with feeling. This song makes me levitate. My soul leaves my body completely<3

1. Be-bop-a-lula by Spinvis (2023) - an album in my native language that I absolutely adore, it feels so poetic. I feel like I am in another universe when I listen to it, a field where I can feel the sun on my skin and touch the green green grass; no song is a skip, listening to it front to back is truly a serene experience to me

2. Pure Heroine by Lorde (2013) - as someone who was a teen in the 2010s, this album just cannot be missing from my core albums :) Lorde has a special place in my heart forever as I grew up with her, this album being her first will always have that little extra emotional connection for me - and it's just so good

3. A Night at the Opera by Queen (1975) - this was the first album that I got as a record, inherited from my grandfather. It's the album that truly introduced me to Queen, I can listen to it over and over without getting tired of it <3

4. Little Dark Age by MGMT (2018) - one of my favourites from my late teens which just makes me feel everything when I feel a little bit dead inside and dread the late stage capitalist society that we live in </3

5. Voor de overlevenden by Boudewijn de Groot (1966) - another album in my native language, this one over half a century old by now, aaaa?? The storytelling on this record is beautiful (Lennaert Nijgh truly is one of the best songwriters the Dutch music scene has ever known imo) and Boudewijn de Groot lowkey paved the way for many of my favourite artists that sing in Dutch today

6. Image by Whispering Sons (2018) - not in my native language, but a Belgian band this time :)) The album title refers to the 'motionless state' of the image, which I think is often a relatable feeling. The band revisits new wave in their sound, and they have an amazing queer lead singer who I absolutely adore!! I've had the pleasure of seeing this album performed live, which makes it feel even more alive to me

7. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me by The Cure (1987) - speaking about new wave... this was the first album by The Cure that I got on vinyl, so naturally I have listened to it thousands of times and it holds a special place in my heart. I love the cure a LOT, I love new wave a lot, and to me the cure really captures all the different sides and quirks of 80s new wave music that I live for

8. Müde by Leftovers (2023) - this Austrian band provides exactly the type of music that I crave when I look for contemporary music... I really, really hope to see them live at some point- their music is in German and feels so energetic yet also reaches somewhere deep in me, it's great

9. The Age of the Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets (2008) - I think my list could not be complete without adding at least one album that features Alex Turner... I may not listen to his music as much as I used to, but The Last Shadow Puppets always sounds good to me, I just cannot skip it?? I really hope they'll treat us with another album (soon? maybe??? please???) and a tour so that I can see Alex Turner and Miles Kane live together

For my own sanity, I didn't include musicals because I could fill up a whole other 3x3 grid with them, and comparing musicals to non-musical theater albums is weird.

Those last 4 that you definitely don't recognize are by Old Earth who you should definitely listen to if you want artsy ambient indie folk with really intricate guitar. My absolute favorite artist by far, and also the most obscure artist I listen to by far.

Electric by The Pet Shop Boys — I think this is my favorite album period. I am still pissed off that Tom Scott called it "not that great" in the old Technical Difficulties podcast. Maybe I'm biased because it was my favorite album when I was 14 and because it's where I really fell in love with the Pet Shop Boys. God I love them. So much. I'm way too excited for the new album and I worship geowayne's website where he analyzes all their songs. I probably should have put another PSB album on here, but there isn't another where I'm in love with every track. Plus honestly so many of my favorite tracks of theirs are B sides. They still release B sides with their singles, and this album cycle, the B sides are honestly better than the actual singles. Anyway electric is pure synthy electropop and I adore it in that way you can only love something you first heard at 14.

Pure Heroine by Lorde — I read a quote somewhere where Lorde said she tried to really put all of being a teenager into the album, so much so that once she became an adult, she probably wouldn't understand or like it anymore. I can definitely say that I'm not nearly as attached to it anymore now that I'm an adult, but God, it was my life when I was 13. She really did capture the unique ennui of being a teenager. I wrote a novel in eighth grade, and I wrote at least half of it to tracks from this album. Also, hot take: Royals is my least favorite track by a lot. Buzzcut Season is my favorite.

My Head is an Animal by Of Monsters and Men — God, this one was my life when I was like, 12. I fell in love with folk there, and I'm still in love nearly a decade later. Another album where I still love every track.

Strange Trails by Lord Huron — hey look, an album I actually discovered and came to love as an adult! The fact that I love Lord Huron's brand of folky horror/fantasy/western music that tell stories with characters should not surprise anyone. Also, if I had to describe my experience with schizophrenia in one song, I'd choose Meet Me in the Woods.

The Tragic Treasury by The Gothic Archies — Look. Hear me out. Is it a album based purely on A Series of Unfortunate Events? Yes. But. Is it also an album where I genuinely love every track and have genuinely been known to just throw it on shuffle? Yes. I mean I think of one lyric from this album, like, weekly. I swear it's not just ASOUE brainrot that makes me like it so much. If it'd ever gotten a vinyl release, I'd absolutely own it. I wish it had gotten one.

a low place at The Old Place by Old Earth — honestly this is probably only my favorite Old Earth album because it's the one that I was able to actually get on vinyl and being able to play that vinyl is so lovely. I mean, it's good, but so is everything by Old Earth. Then again, Less Words is my favorite single track by them and it is on this album. Look. All the Old Earth albums I've listed here are, at most, 20 minutes long. If you like ambient artsy indie folk with lyrics that are there more for the way they sound than their meaning, try one.

light shaped by Old Earth — god the lyrics to this one. Normally I don't like Old Earth for the lyrics but. "It gets old/then it's done" and "what if it's just some song that gets you home" and especially "I'm holding your arms/and you're holding my eyes/and I lie like the right thing to do" are all just so great. And so is the middle track with no lyrics.

... until they're called by Old Earth — have you ever heard an album so good that you a) just played the whole thing and danced to it in your basement nonstop for the full 12 minutes, and then b) wrote a poem about the experience? People talk about finding God, but dancing to that album was the moment I found athiesm. The beauty of us all being here for no reason, just feeling things and living and doing our best to make something beautiful out of it.

Two Torches, at a Place Where Three Roads Meet by Old Earth — I'll be honest, I don't have much to say about this one. They're just a really solid three tracks.

When flowers literally grew where you walked.

- when you arrive, he will quietly lean onto your seat and take off your seatbelt, whispering near your ear that you're parked.

- tha place he selected is a really little beach, empty, where the sun gives the sea a beautiful color. There's a little breeze that helps to refresh you.

- "We're going on a beach date?" you ask, getting outnof the car. He nods, taking off a picnic and a parasol. It's almost afternoon because of all the hours he spent driving.

- You eat on the beach, sitting on a big towel, next to him. All he prepared is really good.

- once you're finished, you two clean the place, throwing the plastics and trash into a nearby bin.

- then, you take off your clothes, your swimsuit revealed. He does the same, taking off his tee.

- cuddling session on the sands? of course.

- you two share the big towel he took with him, your body searching his naturally.

- he will then place a hand on your waist and lean to your face.

- the ambience makes it even more magical: the sound of the ocean, waves brraking against the sand, some seagulls flying.

- you search his lips on the dark, caressing them with yours. they now taste salty, the sea water falling from his hair.

- "wanna race?" he asks. you raise a brow.

Riza blinks awake tiredly, disrupted from sleep by an unexpected movement at her back. She’s disorientated for a second, and it takes a moment for her to process where she is and what is happening, but Roy’s voice behind her grounds Riza almost immediately.

“Mia?” His voice is thick with sleep and Riza feels him shift in place and their mattress dip.

A quiet whimper has Riza immediately awake. Every instinct is alert and screaming at her.

“Did you have a nightmare?”

Worry leaps into her chest and Riza rolls over in bed. But despite her worry and sadness upon discovering her daughter is upset, the sight she comes to face is still one that melts her heart. Roy has propped himself up on an elbow as he looks down at their child with concern. His hair is sticking out in every direction after sleeping for hours and he looks tired after being awoken so suddenly, but he’s alert and ready to fight off whatever has scared their child. He’s already running his hands through her hair to try soothe her. Mia’s eyes are red rimmed and there’s wet tear tracks on her flushed cheeks. She’s wriggled her way in between them both on the bed and tried to pull the cover up to cover her mouth and nose, but both parent’s investigative movements have prevented that from happening. So instead, Mia has curled into a ball facing her father, pressing her face into Roy’s side as she nods to answer his question.

Riza sits up in bed and gently moves Mia into her lap, cuddling her close. Mia snakes her arms underneath Riza’s and hangs on for dear life, her tiny hands clutching at her pyjama top, bundling the cotton together inside her small fists. Roy sits up as well and shifts closer to them both, placing a comforting hand on Mia’s back, letting her know he’s still there for her. That they both are. He leans back to turn on the lamp by their bedside, illuminating the room in a soft glow to put Mia more at ease and take her out of the dark.

“Do you want to talk about it,” Riza murmurs quietly as she rocks Mia back and forth gently in her arms.

Mia shakes her head vigorously.

“Okay, okay,” Riza soothes. “You don’t have to. We just want to understand what’s made you upset, that’s all.”

She nods and takes a deep breath. Riza feels it shuddering through her body and it makes her chest hurt. She presses a kiss to the top of Mia’s head and places a hand atop it, holding her even closer against her.

“Was it scary,” Riza whispers.

Mia sniffs and whimpers, sounding terrified, so they take that as a yes.

Riza shoots Roy a pained look. She hates to see her like this, and judging by the expression on his face, Roy does too.

“I don’t want to be left alone,” Mia sniffles.

“You’ll never be alone,” Roy immediately replies. “We will always be here for you and will always be with you.”

“We’d never leave you alone.”

“Do you want to sleep in our bed tonight,” Roy offers after a brief pause, letting their assurances sink in. “We’ll keep the nightmares away,” he promises. Roy leans forward and places a kiss against the top of Mia’s head to comfort her and punctuate his pledge.

Mia stills. Her head turns slightly, barely peeling away from Riza’s chest. “Promise?” Her voice sounds so small and she’s so subdued and quiet. Such a contrast compared to their always so bright and cheery little girl.

“We promise,” he vows. Roy shoots her a soft smile and taps the end of Mia’s nose with his finger. She twitches and flinches away, but there is the ghost of a smile on her lips. It’s a game that always makes her giggle.

“No harm will ever come to you while we are both with you.” Riza reinforces her statement by giving her a quick squeeze in her arms.

Mia is silent as she considers their offer, but they both know what she will choose. “Okay,” Mia whispers. “I’ll sleep in here,” she agrees as she finally pulls her face away from Riza.

Riza presses a kiss against her cheek.

Roy nods and leans away, giving their daughter some room to move. “You sleep in the middle, Mia Bear.” The nickname makes her smile. It’s tiny, but it’s there.

“Okay,” she nods, and Mia jumps off Riza’s lap to scoot up the bed and snuggle into the end of her mother’s pillow.

Riza moves to lie behind her while Roy faces her front. Both parent’s heads bow together on their pillows, looking down at Mia as they soothe her to sleep. Roy wipes at her tear-stained cheeks gently with a smile as Riza tells her how grown up and brave she was after her nightmare. Riza runs her hand through Mia’s hair while Roy taps her on the nose once, twice, three times to make a game out of it. It works, because Mia is giggling and trying to escape from him, backing herself up further against her mother, pressing her back into Riza’s chest. The sound of her laughter is music to their ears and eventually, Mia settles down with a happy smile as she snuggles into her father.

“Goodnight, Daddy. Goodnight, Mummy,” she yawns.

“Goodnight, our Mia Bear,” Roy replies softly.

“We love you so much,” Riza adds.

“Love you too,” Mia mumbles sleepily, already falling into the clutches of unconsciousness.

Both parents share a look and a relieved, pleased smile. They’re happy that she’s finally happy once more.

Roy lifts his head to kiss Riza’s forehead. Instinctively her eyelids flutter closed and a smile spreads across her face. “Goodnight, Riza.”

“Goodnight, Roy.” She reaches up to peck his cheek and it makes him grin.

Heads bowed together, the small family lie close together as they fall asleep, comforted, happy, and completely at peace.

Past / Background

Carla's past story or BG story is probably be the main reason I like him the most. He had a very TRAGIC past and I really cry each time I see him having a mixing emotion regarding his father Gishbach's torture on him. He really tried his best for being acknowledged and praised by his father...Altho his mother was always there to support him. and it kinda also reminds of my own life situation and goals And also shin's view point regarding Carla in past...but the truth Carla really cares about shin as a perfect brother. I like the bond between Carla and Shin as brothers way more than Mukamis. And also the time when he killed his father was also sad for me. In short, Carla's BG story was most interesting one for me.

Talent /Skills /Strengths

Carla is born-talented with powers as it was told by Krone, which is very powerful compared to his father or other First-blood races. In a training with his father, Carla really mastered a strong magic power(?) which his aged races couldn't do and Gishbach was highly jealous and astonished about that and knocks him out senseless following on. He is also very good in sword, and basically in all the things that ought to be required for a king. He also loves to read books which is absolutely amazing I guess. He is also very artistic person, ae he likes landscapes paintings. He also has a very sharp nerve as it was told my Yui in CL. He is also great in English (grammar) shown in DF. Like yo,,,there are 100s+ and I will get tired if i type everything lmao!

He is also exceptionally good in chess, probably be more or equivalent to Reiji. In Reiji's route, I could clearly say how cold-headed and planned tactics Carla made to beat down Reiji. He said - "99% of the chess is strategy" and it has become my most fav quote ever lol. Altho it's very basic thing to know for a chess-player/lover like me. And then Reiji mentioned after that there's something where he and Carla are very alike...(Which is they both wanted to be acknowledged and praised.) Bringing Reiji here cuz he is my #2 bias forever

His Kindness

For the DL fans who haven't played his route yet might haven't notice that much but, Carla is a very kind person. In LP, I really liked those moment when he saved Yui even though knowing he is gotta get effected by the poison twice in Zatan's mouth. Also when Carla told Aji not to kill the snake which seizing the antidote outta that,,,,although it was the biggest bother in that route lmao. In LE, also when he didn't punish or yell at a ghoul child for injuring him etc etc. Even tho he finds sometimes difficult to understand ppl,,,but he is very kind inside at the same time.

His appearance

Okay—I fall in love with his dress and everything hjsksks. I personally see his style very unique, meanwhile goes well with his kind of person who said "I don't dresses which exposes skin too much like a shameless." Every single outfits, especially dark fate and lost eden. Also like the way he manages his hair and scarf. Idk how to specify lol, I really like every single thing. His hair, eyes, body and EVERYTHING AAAa-

His Voice

I always find deep and dark voice very calming, and carla's voice is such a soothing version of it. I am a big fan of Toshiyuki and most of the otoge characters that I stan is voiced by him uvu. Ik some ppl think Carla's voice sounds like he is around 60+,,,but I never thought of him like that and will I be ever. His voice suits pretty decent with his sharp gaze and cold atmosphere. I luv him voice, so much like literally music in my ears.

His love towards Yui

Although his main attraction towards Yui/MC was developed in Maniac epilogue,,,pretty late but it worth it very much. I was like really surprised that how lovely and affectionate he could be...wow. The hands that was more likely to choke her was now the only place Yui could belong. Also he was jealous when he saw Reiji taught him that English thing on that notebook before. Despite being sadistic, he has a soft heart inside and—always cares about Yui and protects her. He can also catch Yui's mood or thoughts easily by observing her expressions and face.

I am tired-this is just the top reasons that popped out in my mind lol. I can write a newspaper tbh,,how much i love him and my reason for that. Not only romantically but...i really do learn many things from and it is the most inspiration in achieving my goals and especially study purposes sjsksjk

renjun was confused as to why he was standing between sweaty bodies of frat boys when he could be laying down in his own clean sheets while binge watching a new show. but no, his best friend just had to quite literally physically drag him to this party. jaemin has been pestering renjun into accompanying him to a frat party so renjun can finally “get some.” while in reality, the only “some” renjun is in need of is a break, and attending a boring college party only to be pushed around by intoxicated, tall, and freakishly meaty boys isn't the break he was quite fond of.

the short boy has been on his tippy toes in an attempt to look for his friend who forced him here (apparently only to ditch him) in the sea of people. as his toes begin to cramp, renjun gives up and marches his way to the backyard. the wrinkles on his forehead begin to soothe as he feels the cold air relief his slightly sweaty forehead.

he observes the area around him — people out here were dancing more appropriately than those inside, the music was calmer too. he thinks the dimly lit backyard sets the mood well, complimenting the chill rnb music playing in the back. though, the calmness came to a halt when he heard the infamous loud voice of donghyuck calling his name from the side of the area.

renjun smiles at the him and jeno who was standing right beside donghyuck, feeling relieved that he will no longer look like a stupid loner since he’s found a few friends. as he came closer to them, the acrid smell of their cigarettes became more prevalent.

“didn’t take you as a party guy, injunie.” donghyuck nudges him with his shoulder as renjun finds place in between the two, resting his back against the fence.

“that’s because i’m not.”

jeno chuckles at his response, “so jaemin finally succeeded.” renjun huffs. “well, at least enjoy it now that you’re here.”

donghyuck made a noise of agreement. “and you guys consider smoking in the corner fun?” renjun eyes the boys, obviously joking with them but was also curious if they genuinely find pleasure in welcoming those toxins into their system.

“apparently you, a prude, think being a virgin is fun. but i guess we all have different definitions of fun, huh?” donghyuck teases before taking another hit, releasing the smoke and polluting the air.

renjun blinks repeatedly to moisten his burning eyes, “yeah, i expect that same attitude from you when you need an inhaler every five seconds. that’s the only thing you’ll ever hit then.”

jeno coughs out smoke as he laughs at the remark, “you’ve done pissed him off, hyuck. here — take a hit, it’ll feel better.” jeno places the cigarette in front of renjun’s face and winks at him.

renjun mockingly smiles at the taller boy before rolling his eyes and heartily laughing at the banter between him and his good friends.

the boy observes how the smoke leaves the tip of the cigarette to form patterns in the air, creating an infinite amount of stems and designs. like a camera lens, his focus on the killing object in front of him blurs and readjusts on a dancing figure directly behind the cigarette from afar.

jeno slowly drops his hand down as he sees his friend’s gaze shift to another hazardous object — a girl. specifically, you. “you know her?”

renjun thinks about his answer, because you guys don’t know each other personally nor have even talked to one another but he does know of you but he doesn’t want to sound like a creep. saving himself from more insults, he shakes his head. “maybe i should, though.”

not that he pays attention but he’s seen you at a couple of his classes last semester, but sadly none this semester. he remembers how you’d always come in late, but not too late. just late enough for everyone to stop what they’re doing and watch you walk down to your seat. or maybe that was just a natural effect of yours that you hold on people. i mean, renjun didn’t miss the way you put thought into your outfit for every class even if it was a boring lecture. hell, you could show up to class hungover and in pajamas (which you’ve done before a shameful amount of times) and still catch everyone’s attention.

renjun has a pair of functioning eyes so he is very aware of your charming looks. tonight was different, though. you danced confidently right in the center of the grass, with a drink in your hands that hasn’t spilled once thanks to your graceful mannerisms. with the fairy lights hitting your skin, making you glow underneath the dark sky, renjun thought you couldn’t get any prettier.

he was about to inform his friends that he’ll be getting a drink, but noticed that the two boys had already left his side. he cowered at the thought of him just standing there alone with nothing and no one to accompany him while he shamelessly stared at you. making the churning feeling in stomach worsen, your gaze meets his while you continue to dance to the sensual music.

you shot a smile first, renjun immediately gives you one back as he straightens his posture. renjun sees you giggle at his actions then whisper something in your friend’s ear, simultaneously handing your drink to her, to which she pushed you toward his direction and gently patted your bottom.

renjun wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol taking control or you were just this bold, strutting your way toward him — a boy who you don’t even know.

you halt your steps when you stand in front of him, getting a clear view of his pretty face. “you seem a bit lonely.”

renjun gulps, collecting his confidence. “just a bit.”

“want some company then?”

renjun smiles genuinely at your offer. “i would love that actually.” he stares at your features, admiring the dots on your face that would resemble star constellations if someone were to draw lines to connect them. “i’m renjun.” he was smart enough to wipe his hands discreetly behind him before putting them out.

“nice to meet you, renjun. i’m y/n.” you took his hand and shook it lightly. “i think i’ve seen you in one of my classes before? i might be wrong.” you tilt your head slightly. renjun almost melts at the sight.

he smiles before nodding, eyes shining. “yeah, i’m shocked you remember. i don’t usually talk during class.” he laughs. it seems that every time he smiles, your palms become sweatier and your neck’s temperature increases.

“don’t worry, pretty boys like you don’t need to do much to catch yourself some attention.”

renjun laughs nervously at the compliment, fiddling with the ends of his oversized jacket. “you're the one to talk but thank you.” his eyes twinkled as he spoke, the moonlight hitting the highest points of his face precisely. “you wanna go sit over there?” he points to the chairs near your standing figures. you nodded and began to walk your way toward the spot with renjun following suit.

renjun wasn’t sure how it happened. how the night turned from arguing with jaemin over a pointless party to now — not wanting to leave the damn place. how he was able to maintain a real conversation with you, not some excruciatingly boring small talk that neither party enjoys. he learned much about your character and questioned how much more perfect you can be. on the other hand, you learned that renjun makes pleasant company as he eased through the night talking to you about anything. he made any topic worth listening to if he was the one doing the talking.

as he drove home with a drunk jaemin snoring beside him in the passenger seat, he realized that, for once, renjun was thankful that his best friend is the most stubborn person in the planet and made him go to that stupid frat party.

because now, you’ve got him in your hands and he was completely okay with that.

ISTP and a Taurus

I would probably describe myself as an ambivert person,tho it is something hard to talk in english due to it not being my first language. I often swear in my mother language out of habit and get my english friends very confused .

They did ask me to tell them a few words,most of them we're swear words but hey I'm happy to just teach them anything.

Sometimes they say that I either sound flirtatious or terrifying when I talk in my mother language pff

I'm mostly calm and patient but when a line is crossed I tend to still act civil but in a more cold way.

I listen to people when they have something thats bothering her or if they simply want to talk w someone about anything.

I sometimes like to crack some jokes,just to see someone laugh or smile

Some things I like is drawing and collecting weird random stuff((Currently trying to make my bones collection bigger)) now as in beliefs I'm an atheist and I dont really care abt others beliefs as long as they're a cool person to be around.

I kinda like just blasting music most of the times in my headphones because I dont like bothering people,but if they would ask to listen I'd totally let them, I listen to every type of music so they can play whatever ,tho I do have a place in my heart for metal.

As in appereance wise I wont say much other than I'm short n have long dark hair which honestly I kinda like.

But I also wanna mention scars I have I used to despite them due to how i got them and due to people commenting on them, but now theyre just here and ive grown to simply not be bothered by them

a simple call of the wild review that is totally professional and not way too detailed by me (February)

It's gonna be a bit of comparing to previous powerwolf albums/songs and remember everything is my own opinion. If you disagree/agree we may talk about it in a civilized way, I actually love talking to others about this shit!

But otherwise (hate, insults, etc.) you can keep your opinion somewhere where I can't see it :) Also, the album has barely been out for a day and things change with time and I may grow to like certain things more. (but there's not too much that I don't like tbh) But I hope you enjoy this metalhead-gremlin's ramblings!

Faster than the flame

I had to listen to it quite a few times before I could say anything about it. It's a powerful start into the new album, however, it is (as previously stated) powerful but didn't blow me away like the first songs on the previous albums. (Fire &forgive, Blessed &possessed, amen & attack - wait am I just now noticing a pattern here? oh my god. Anyway.) Maybe I got that personal feeling that I want it to be Fire & Forgive, which is, of course, not possible and would be boring. So i think I'm not even critizing the song but rather the order of the songs.

It feels like a typical powerwolf song; both lyrics and instrumental. Fast, heavy, something about flames and burning - awesome. The two Latin parts (I think it's called the pre-chorus? man, I have no idea and will just throw around these words because my internet connection is too bad to look this up. But if you listen, you'll know which parts I mean.) already give me goosebumps. I also really, really liked the bridge (again?? idk??) aka the "flame, flame, burning wild in heavens name" part. This was the most memorable part for me after the first time listening. Of course, the guitar arrangement throughout the whole song is just... god bless. I must say that using the word "pastor" is dangerous because my stupid brain keeps thinking Attila is singing about "pasta" again... Oh well, moving on!

Beast of Gevaudan

Man, I've been listening almost non-stop since it was released as a single! At first, my head was comparing it somewhat to army of the night but after a few times this feeling was gone and it became an awesome new idea/song. The choir and orchestra part are so well placed and support the rest of the instrumental and Attila's voice perfectly. Again, much fast, very powermetal. I've grown very fond of the guitar solo. The lyrics tell us a little about the story of the beast and I. Love. Storytelling. In. Songs. Glad matthew finally came around to put his idea out there!

This song also has a video, which left me speechless at first. I love Attila's acting so much??? And making this sort of their own story of Jesus was such a cool idea. Production is high quality as well (didn't expect anything less after The Sacrament of Sin MVs) and there were really nice shots in there. I doubt that I will get tired of this song and this video anytime soon!

Dancing with the dead

That choir stuff in the beginning, following by that awesome guitar riff already had me. I couldn't stop listening to this one either. This might be, in my opinion, the most catchy song on the whole album. The intruments are in perfect harmony with Attila's heavenly voice. The transition into the guitar solo is so damn smooth and well done. I'm having a whole crisis about how good this song is.

The lyrics are interesting too! Again, there's a story to be told. As far as I can interpret it, being introduced to some darker powers and growing to enjoy them, despite previously having lots of faith, is what's going on here. It has this slight feeling of... corruption (in a good way of course). This makes me want to go dancing (with the dead)

This one also has a video! Once again, very high quality. Every band member had their "special moments/shots" and just looked stunning. But Attila left them all behind this time. Slow dancing, in a suit, with that smirk on his lips??? Well done, my dude.

Varcolac

This one's dark and heavy. It brings me back to the good ol' times of Lupus Dei and Bible of the Beast. Just with more orchestra, choir and overall harmony. It makes me so happy that Powerwolf is using so many real life legends and figures on this album! And they did such a good job with them as well. If this song was alive, it would be a scary beast.

The typical metal elements and orchestra/choir parts are very well balanced. And the organ throughout the whole song is fitting. It supports the dark and sinister feeling of the whole thing. My favourite part may be the "And as army we bing fire..." parts! Man, I just love werewolves. Also, I think Attila's famous gibberish singing made a return in this one!

Alive or undead

Oh boy,here we go. The piano in this one is incredible. "Here we STAAAAAAND!" Goosebumps and shivers. Everything about this is so emotional andreading the lyrics while listening just makes me want to cry, ok?! T_T Powerwolf has become so flexible, exploring different ways to make music. This could have been some kind of typical powermetal song but it's not and I'm glad about it.

Even if it's a little different, they never stray to far from what makes them special. The few parts, reminding one of typical church music would not have been necessary but are appreciated! They know when to leave out the guitars and go slowly. What bothers me a little, is that it somehow feels like Attila's voice had a tiny bit more potential up to the chorus. It could've been a little bit softer? if i can put it that way. But honestly this song is raw emotion and everything still fits together. If you thought their first ballad was emotional, buckle up, this one kicked me right in the feels.

Blood for blood (Faoladh)

Powerwolf ventures again into the folk metal territory and successfully conquers it! Could be a headline of something. Anyway, this song is a very worthy successor of Incense & Iron! It just makes me happy, its melody is so light - combined with your typical Powerwolf lyrics. Perfect song to start jumping up and down! It radiates motivational energy. Just like Dancing with the dead, this song has a very smooth transition to the guitar parts.

The melody is strong but still easy enough to quickly get into it! I can barely sit still and write this aaaa. Seriously, I am just happy with this song and will go jump and headbang a while to it!

Glaubenskraft

I have returned from jumping and oh no. It's a German song. Bold of them to go all out on that Latin beginning... it works really well though! It might be because I'm German but this song hits hard. Very hard. It's not easy to make this language sound good and ( if you don't happen to know much about German) the lyrics consist of a bunch of old words and grammar you wouldn't normally use anymore. But they made it fucking work!!! The quiet verses only make the pre-chorus and chorus itself heavier and blow me away. And SOMEHOW this super epic song with (made up, at least I'm pretty sure they don't exist like that) Latin words is about.. you know what Powerwolf writes about a lot. And I LOVE that. It's so subtle and only if you read into it, you're like "wait a minute".

This song has a feeling of corruption too. But not in a good way this time. It feels evil and intimidating and - honestly, I can't get enough of it. Everyone of my neighbours will think I'm some kind of weird Christian fanatic because I WILL yell "Glaubenskraft" just as much as I yelled "Stossgebet". Worth it, tho.

Call of the wild

The song with the same title as the album! (or the other way around, whatever.) This song is just catchy from the beginning to the end. Like many other songs its fast and hard. Just how I like it. Don't take that out of context.

The lyrics and instruments go wild (haha get it), with a really neat Latin pre-chorus. It's very fun to listen to. Personally, it makes me feel like I belong to the pack. That we're strong together, that we can say fuck it once in a while and just go crazy. The chanted part near the end of the song reminds me strongly of Sanctified with dynamite (ya know "die, die dynamite" and "call, call, call of the wild") and it's really cool they pick up on old things once again. Be it intentional or not. It's a reminder that they still are who they were back then - and their music is still fucking incredible.

Simply an epic song, strong vocals, strong guitars. I really, really like the intro. Attila has to sing so many words in such little time, does he even need to breathe now and then?

Now I'm wondering what came first; the album title or the track title? Chicken or the egg?

Sermon of swords

First of all: WHAT IS THAT OMINOUS VOICE IN THE BEGINNING. Mark me down as horny and scared. Ahem.

I really like how the verse and the chorus have their own theme and melody going on and yet they're connected. The chorus is super catchy too! And just say it yourself "Sermon of swords", how cool does it sound??? The choir in the beginning is a really neat introduction into the whole song. The lyrics match the whole album, very much a soundtrack to go on a crusade to, like Raise your fist, Evangelist or Christ & Combat. Just... "AAMEEN!" Ok, I'm actually going insane here, calm down, Feb. These might be my favourite lyrics of the whole album I think?? (unless I said that somewhere else already, then i have more than one favourite.)

The whole song has a more "classical" feeling to it, not only in the Powerwolf sense but also in the Heavy Metal sense in general. BUT. Orchestra and choir are prefectly mixed, especially supporting Attila in the chorus. The guitar solo is really cool and sounds very Greywolf-y, if you know what I mean. It's just Matthew's style.

Undress to confess

The name of this song says it all. This is your friendly reminder that no matter how much they preach about Jesus or the Devil, Powerwolf should not be taken too seriously. When I first saw the title I couldn't help but chuckle a little.

The melody is pretty catchy and easy to remember, the organ and general approach reminds me of Demons are a girl's best friend. I absolutely love how the lyrics are on that thin line of somewhat poetic and ridiculous. Let me provide two examples here: "all the world we posess for desire and sin we carress" - man, this sounds pretty.

And there's also "dressed to hide the dark, and obsessed to ride him hard on the.... crucifix." Yeah, I... I don't know what I expected here. Anyway, this is how you describe church sex without actually using explicit words. (why are you booing me, i'm right)

Still really nice to listen to and have a good time!

Reverent of rats

We arrived at the last song of the album! And here we picked up on the speed and power again! The way the organ is played during the verses makes it so... sinister. Again, this piece reminds me of Lupus Dei. The verses keep the sinister feeling while the chorus picks up more... drama? An epic melody mixed with epic words make my soul ascend to heaven.

This guitar solo is also the absolute good shit. It might be my favourite from all the songs of this album?! Additionally, the drums? I don't know why but they really stand out here. Love how fast paced they are.

Aaaaand that's it! If you've read all the way through holy shit, you are actually a badass. Thank you for staying with me, my werewolf friend. Maybe we'll meet where the wild wolves have gone. But always remember: Metal is religion.
