CAD/JPY & AI Bots: The Hidden Forex Opportunity You Shouldnât Miss Why Bet on the Underdog: CAD/JPY & AI Bots, A Love Story Okay, folks, let me ask you something. When was the last time you thought about trading the Canadian Dollar (CAD) against the Japanese Yen (JPY)? Maybe somewhere between never and "Is that even a thing?" And hey, I get itâthe world's got the EUR/USD and the USD/JPY hogging the limelight like some celebrity couple. But if youâre tired of the usual scene and ready for some low-key ninja-level moves, CAD/JPY is like finding a cozy coffee shop no one knows aboutâcalm, surprising, and potentially super profitable. Now, letâs add some artificial intelligence bots into this mix, and we've got ourselves a real plot twist. Is CAD/JPY the Hidden Gem? Here's where artificial intelligence bots make their entrance, like secret agents at a high-stakes casino. If you havenât leveraged AI bots in your trading yet, let me tell you: you're like someone trying to bake bread without yeast. Possible, but oh-so-flat. AI trading bots are the kind of partners who never sleep, never second-guess themselves, and are never tempted by the idea of "quick profits." Think of them as your financial sherpasâalways calculating, always optimizing, and never judging when you panic-buy CAD/JPY because you thought "yen is cheap right now" sounds like a good enough reason. Why CAD/JPY Deserves Your Love Let's talk about why CAD/JPY is a serious contender for your affection in the Forex market. This pair thrives on more than just economic data; itâs a currency pair driven by the sweet combination of oil prices (thank you, Canada) and risk sentiment (hello, Japan). What does this mean for you, dear trader? It means thereâs room for strategic finesseâwhen oil is on the rise, CAD gets a boost, while JPY tends to play safe haven during global jitters. AI bots are particularly good at recognizing these correlations before you even manage to finish your cup of coffee. The Hidden Patterns AI Bots Love to Spot You see, artificial intelligence loves data. Itâs like that friend who always notices when your ex posts a sad song lyric on InstagramâAI bots pick up on nuances in the CAD/JPY pair that you might miss. One lesser-known tactic involves monitoring oil futures, not just for price trends but for volatility shifts. If the bots catch a spike in implied volatility for Canadian oil, theyâre already analyzing how that could impact CAD strength relative to the Yen, while youâre still asking yourself if you can get away with just trading EUR/USD forever. AI bots are also stellar at recognizing divergences in cross-market sentiment. For instance, they might notice that risk-on sentiment (like a rally in equities) is happening at the same time that JPY is appreciatingâsomethingâs up, right? These kinds of anomalies are the bread and butter of trading CAD/JPY for profit, and AI bots are whispering sweet nothings to you about whatâs coming before the rest of the market catches on. What Your Average Trader Misses Most traders treat CAD/JPY like that sad pair of shoes bought on saleâgreat in theory but often left gathering dust in the back of the closet. Why? Because itâs not a "major." Newsflash: Majors are overrated. This pair has got a lot going for it if you're willing to look under the hood, and AI bots help you do just that. One overlooked element is the interest rate differential. While people are busy figuring out what Jerome Powell had for breakfast, your AI bots could be exploiting the Bank of Canadaâs rate hikes versus Japanâs historically low interest rate policies. Itâs like grabbing candy from a baby, but ethically, because hey, this is Forex and not an actual daycare. The Magic of Mean Reversion with CAD/JPY Bots Want to know a trick? Here it is: mean reversion. CAD/JPY is one of those pairs that just loves to revert to the mean more often than mostâespecially when driven by oil fluctuations or geopolitical tensions. AI bots can track these swings with laser-like precision. Imagine them as that parent who knows when their kidâs tantrum is just for show and when itâs time for an intervention. Theyâll pick up on over-extended moves, and theyâll act. Like a seasoned trader who doesnât get caught up in emotions, but instead makes the right play, every time. A Contrarian Approach: Turning Market Ignorance into Your Edge You know whatâs funny? How everyone runs to the Euro or USD like theyâre the only gigs in town. Hereâs a contrarian perspective: CAD/JPY gets less attention, which means thereâs less noise and more legitimate opportunities. AI bots are perfect for these "underdog" trades because they arenât distracted by hypeâthey are data-driven, patient, and relentless. If you want to sidestep the crowded trading floors of the "major" currencies and go somewhere the professionals quietly build wealth, this is where you should be. Game-Changing Strategies for CAD/JPY Using AI Bots - Leveraging Oil News for Predictive Trading: AI bots ingest and analyze headlines faster than you can even think "OPEC." They can enter trades based on sentiment analysis derived from oil output news. While you're still trying to figure out if you should short oil, theyâve already scalped a quick win by correlating it to CAD movements. - Sentiment Divergence Strategy: While CAD might rise due to oil prices, Yen might move in the opposite direction due to risk-off sentiments. AI bots are amazing at catching these discrepancies and exploiting them before the average trader even logs into their platform. - Interest Rate Arbitrage: With Japanâs eternal love affair with low interest rates, CAD/JPY offers a fascinating carry trade opportunity. AI bots evaluate the risk and make these trades seamlesslyâmeanwhile, youâre probably still Googling "what is carry trade?" Mistakes Most Traders Make and How to Avoid Them - Ignoring the Carry Trade Edge: Seriously, when you're trading CAD/JPY, understanding the interest rate differential is crucial. Bots wonât miss this, but if you do, itâs like throwing away free money. - Overreacting to Market Sentiment: Traders often panic-buy or sell based on the latest news out of Canada or Japan. AI bots? Not a chance. They calculate probabilities and stick to data. One minute of human panic can be AIâs opportunity for a strategic edge. - Trading During Low Liquidity: Many traders enter the CAD/JPY market when itâs quiet. AI bots optimize entry times by analyzing market depth and spreads, making sure trades happen when the conditions are rightânot just when the trader feels like it. How You Can Get In On This Game So, youâre probably thinking, "Alright, but how do I do this without losing my shirt?" The answer: get the right tools and community support. StarseedFX offers the kind of advanced methodologies and insider techniques you wonât find in your average trading course. - Latest Economic Indicators and Forex News: To stay on top of those sneaky economic indicators driving CAD and JPY, visit StarseedFX Forex News. - In-depth Forex Education: If you're serious about mastering CAD/JPY, take advantage of StarseedFX's free Forex courses that provide deep dives into niche pairs and advanced tactics. - Join Our Community: Get live insights, analysis, and tips for CAD/JPY and other pairs at StarseedFX Community. If youâre tired of crowd-following and want to be the person finding the quiet yet promising trades, CAD/JPY has a lot to offer. Add in AI bots, and youâre practically at the controls of a stealth fighterâsmooth, precise, and completely undetected by the crowd. So why not switch things up? Let the others battle it out in the EUR/USD Colosseum while you and your AI partners sip coffee in your hidden little cafĂ©, quietly making the smart moves. Ready to tap into this hidden gem? Drop your thoughts in the comments, share your CAD/JPY experiences, and if youâve got questions about botsâyou know what to do. ââââââ Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated Read the full article

We stayed up late last night so we slept in again today. Once we woke up we walked to borough market. It was jam packed today (more so than E**** remembered from his previous time in London). We walked through the market once before deciding to look for breakfast. While walking through L**** saw the Greedy Goat Ice Cream stand and pointed it out. E**** was friends with one of the people who manned the stand while he studied abroad in London. As soon as they got close, E**** saw the same man, Andrew, at the stand and they immediately recognized each other. They hugged and we got some ice cream. We talked for a few minutes and E*** and the man exchanged contact info before we kept walking to find food. We got a Japanese tofu and rice bowl and a box of Indian thaliâboth of which were delicious.
We walked over to the river and ate while looking out over the Thames. After we ate, we walked over to the Tate modern art museum where we saw a number of interesting exhibits. We were both pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed them. On the bottom floor we saw an exhibit by Nira Pereg an Israeli artist. The exhibit comprised two massive screens depicting the shared Jewish-Muslim use of Mearat Hamachpala in Hebron. Personally, E**** found the depiction hopeful for how Jews and Muslims could share a religious space peacefully. The description provided, however, presented a less hopeful and more anti-Israel view of the shared site (generally, the Tate didnât seem very fond of Israel). Regardless, I found the exhibit fascinating. A few floors up, we found an exhibit about the East Village Beijing artists and the counter-culture they fostered. The exhibit had nude photographs of members of the east village group. They were doing a lot of gender experimentation. They met in secret. They were eventually discovered and evicted. The area where they lived was bulldozed. It was very cool to see this strong counter culture art scene in China in the 90s. Of course we donât know if anything like that still exists, since it would have to be secret. It was very inspiring.
We made our way along the south bank of the river where we saw a cool skate park with youngsters showing off their tricks. Eventually we headed to the Churchill war rooms, crossing the Westminster bridge where E**** bought more candied peanuts.
The Churchill museum was very interesting, especially the parts about his rise to power and his career after the war, since we knew less about those parts. He has a lot of funny quotes too. We spent about two hours in the war room.
Afterwards, we walked in St. Jameâs park for a bit before walking through Trafalgar Square, Leicester square, Piccadilly circus, Soho, and China town. There were tons of people walking around. From China town we went to covent garden market (where we stopped to use the restroom) and then began searching for where to eat dinner. We kept walking east until we reached St. Paulâs cathedral where we saw people being baptized. We then crossed millennium bridge, where we got s good night view of the tower bridge and the city lights reflected in the water.
Once on south bank again we stopped at an Anatolian restaurant where the food was good but the service a bit slow. We especially enjoyed a fig and goat cheese salad. From there we started walking back to the hotel passing through the empty borough market. It was chilly on our walk back so near Liverpool street station we bought a hot chocolate at a 24/7 shop. We shared it as we meandered through the streets near our hotel. Itâs a lovely area for nightlife with many bars and people going out.
Eventually we got back to the hotel and planned for the next day before going to bed.

Whaâwhat the crap are you on about???
BEANS????
ya ever make a post and you just..know youâre gonna get an ask about it later? bc yeah lol
okay so hereâs the story behind this. now keep in mind, Iâm absolutely not dissing on another culture!! Iâm just very picky when it comes to what I eat (textures get me more than the taste most times), and this was 100% one of those times. I was also too excited to use reason and read the wrapper first, so thatâs on me lol.
so last summer, my parents and I went on a Friday + weekend road trip and stayed in a hotel. whenever we do this, we always try out local foods (especially Chinese or Japanese food!! itâs our favorite and itâs pretty hard to go wrong usually). we went out to eat and then went to the store next door; a Japanese market. my dad and I love going to these places; new tea, snacks, teapots, etc. we were both like kids in a candy store. long story short, we found some kind of cake(?) that I canât remember the name of that we just had to try. it was beautiful and had flower patterns and stuff all over it. we get back to the hotel with the cake and all the snacks we bought and dig in.
now, my dad isnât picky like I am. textures donât bother him and he doesnât have much of a sweet tooth, but I do. we cut it in half to split it (my mom was more interested in the stuff she picked out lol), and we both tend to take bigger bites. this was a horrible mistake for me. it turned out to be red bean paste (not sweet at all and a texture my weird brain immediately rejected. i also donât eat beans we have here for the same reason, itâs not just those beans), not a strawberry mousse or whatever I thought itâd be. the cake itself wasnât sweet either, at least not how I expected. mistakes were made. my dad liked it, and it didnât go to waste, but I nearly hurled đ
I thought I learned my lesson but repeated the process with yet another small pie thing we got lol (also read the tags)
#that was long sorry lol#Iâm surprised yall didnât send me an ask about the milk in a coke can thing jaksskel#again Iâm not against that culture AT ALL#Iâm just picky and canât do certain textures/flavors#please please please donât send me hate ill cry#ft. Bluetooth#????????#ft. blueberryrock#Bluetooth lol sorry Nat#askrogue#roguespeaks

Kobayashiâs Maid Dragon S2 Episode 3 Notes
Sparrows! Specifically the Eurasian tree sparrow, known in Japan as the suzume. You can just about see them all over Japan, all year longâbut that doesnât mean they arenât a season word!
Depending on their depiction, they can be used as a season word for most times of the year, but a major one is âlate spring,â as thatâs when theyâre out and about finding food for their baby birds. You can also see in the art they look a little floofy, indicative of the winter coat they havenât fully shed yet; suzume in summer have a more sleek look. Hereâs a shot of them from late summer last season:
And from closer to winter hereâ. Quite fluffy.
As a quick refresher, ćŁèȘ kigo, or season words, are words/phrases/concepts used to give a sense of season to a haiku (or other poem/work of art), which is what part of what differentiates them from a senryuu. They were used pretty frequently in a lot of episodes last season, but a bit less so this time so far.
Where Lucoa and Ilulu are talking about a ârightâ here, the Japanese word is èłæ Œ shikaku. While this usage is similar to ârightâ in English, the connotation is a little different as the word actually means more âqualification.âÂ
Whereas a ârightâ is generally something you have innately in some sense (e.g. if you make art you automatically have copyright over it, you have human rights just for being human, etc.), a shikaku is something you earn (e.g. if you study and take a test for certification program and pass, youâre rewarded with a shikaku.)
Iluluâs response to the question here isÂ
ăăăăăźăŻéăăć°æăăăăăăźèšèăŻăȘăăŁăăăšă«ăŻă§ăăȘăăăă
One way in which this differs from the English is that sheâs not saying it would be right or wrong, but rather not the solution sheâs looking forâbecause it would also mean undoing the words Kobayashi gave her, and that is something she doesnât want to do, no matter what.
In contrast the English feels more like she thinks it would be wrong to do that, and even if she did it wouldnât let her escape what Kobayashi said to her. (That would make more sense if Kobayashi had called her out on being evil, but thatâs not really what went down.) An alternative wording might be something like:
âThat wouldnât solve anything. Besides, I donât want to erase what Kobayashi gave me.â
This line is: ć°æăăăźăăă«ăŻăăăȘăăȘăŒ
This is perhaps just my interpretation, but the English here sounds like Lucoa once convinced/helped Kobayashi in some fashion previously, is trying it again with Ilulu, but failing this time. (I donât thatâs ever happened though.)
In contrast, I think the Japanese is saying that Lucoa is trying to be like Kobayashi (e.g. when helping alleviate/solve Tohruâs various worries), and itâs not really working for her. I.e. âItâs not working like when Miss Kobayashi does it.âÂ
Iluluâs line about âI donât want to ask Kobayashi about it because sheâd probably solve it too easily" seems to support that reading; the dragons know Kobayashi as worries-solver.
The English here has Lucoa saying sheâll go talk to Kanna/Saikawa, and casually telling Ilulu to wait in the bathroom. But Lucoa doesnât actually talk to the kids, and even if she was planning to, why would Ilulu waiting in the toilet do anything?
The answer is that Lucoa is actually telling Ilulu to talk (to an unspecified subject, assumed to be Saikawa, since sheâs a human and thus someone Ilulu feels guilty about interacting with; Kanna sheâs more fine with, as a dragon). And instead of âGo ahead and wait in the bathroom,â itâs more of a âGo wait in the bathroom and see what happens,â with the implication Lucoa is going to set something up.Â
And she does!
âI wonât lie about X, but Y is a different story.â This seems to imply she will still lie about Y? That seems a bit odd to me, especially when she just lied about X (those feelings) to Kanna/Saikawa minutes ago.Â
The Japanese says something a bit different though.
The core of the middle line here is æ°æăĄă«ćăă€ăăȘă kimochi ni uso wo tsukanai. Because the ă«, the particle indicating âdirection,â is attached unadorned to "feelings,â it is saying not âlying about Xâ but âlying to X.â This construction, to say one is lying to a feeling, is fairly common in Japanese media. Itâs basically equivalent in English to lying to yourself about those feelings.
(for âlying about Xâ youâd change the ă« into a ă«ă€ă㊠or similar)
So basically sheâs saying she wonât pretend, to herself at least, that she doesnât want to play. But thatâs a separate issue to whether she has, as she said before, the ârightâ to play after what she did.Â
You could maybe put it sort of like this:
âI wonât lie to myself about my feelings anymore. But that doesnât mean I can act on them after what I did.â
I feel extremely silly even pointing this out, but the beam here is ć°żæ nyoui, which is the urge to pee, not necessarily actually needing to pee. Hence why she seems to stop needing to as soon as she gets to the bathroom and walks straight back to the living room with Ilulu after they talk.
âBe deceivedâ here is not éšăăă damasareru, lit. âbe deceived,â but éšăèšăĄă«ăïżœïżœ damashi-uchi ni au, which is like being hit by a sneak attack, being stabbed in the back, etc. In a fairly literal sense in this case too, as theyâre talking about actual combat.
I mostly bring it up because it feels like there is not much difference between âbeing deceivedâ and âbeing tricked,â despite those being portrayed as polar opposites (deceived by hostile dragons, tricked by kind Kobayashi), so it might have been wise to differentiate them more in the translation.
E.g. perhaps âShe had to change to avoid a knife in the back.â (though dragons donât use knives, so maybe a claw?)
Another pretty minor point, but the âdoesnât know right from wrongâ is ćć„ăźăȘă funbetsu no nai, where funbetsu means not so much âknowing right from wrong,â but a more encompassing sense of discretion and maturity.
I mostly bring this one up because it struck as me awkward to say Ilulu explicitly shouldnât know right from wrong, since that would be going backward to her be okay destroying the city again. Instead itâs more that she shouldnât need to feel weighed down by whatâs âcorrectâ or what she âshouldâ do. One possible alt example:
âSo go back to being a kid, and worry more about what you want to do than ought to do.â
(Lucoa also changes from a narrative tone to a more conversational tone at the end, in conjunction with the visual shift away from the flashback, so swapping the âsheâ to âyouâ might be appropriate.)
Note how Kanna shuffles the cards here. Depending on where youâre from, this may seem like an odd way of doing it (unless you watched Yugioh maybe). A lot of places with majority English speakers tend to use the overhand shuffle or riffle shuffle, but in Japan (and many other Asian countries) the most common shuffle is the one on display here, known as the Hindu shuffle.Â
~The More You Know~
The act of handing over a piece of candy like this has been used as imagery in other places in the show as well, though Iâll leave thinking about what it represents to you.
âBlanketâ is futon, which is used to refer to both the âmattressâ part and âblanketâ part of a full futon, the traditional Japanese bedding (not the same thing as the sofa/couch mattress you might hear called a futon in some places).
I mostly mention because just âa blanketâ kind of sounds like theyâre going to leave them on the floor, but theyâre actually going to get the equivalent of a guest mattress (+blanket) to put them to sleep in, as itâs late enough for this to turn into a sleepover.
Just as a bit of trivia, the word she uses for âonlookerâ here is the same term as the âspectator faction.â In the manga Tohru interjects with âAww, come on, why not Chaos faction instead?âÂ
Also as a side note to this whole bit about Kobayashi wearing a maid outfit; recall this scene from early in season one, where Tohru found an outfit Kobayashi had bought and stuffed deep in a closet:
Relevant! Anyway, back to the actual episode now:
If you felt like this exchange felt a little disjointed, especially given Tohruâs tone of voice: the idea is that Lucoa is saying Tohru really goes to extremes when it comes to matters relating to Kobayashi, which is implying that it seems excessive to call so many people over for a relatively mild issue (not that she necessarily minds though). Tohruâs response is a slightly defensive âyeah I know, but thanks for coming over anyway.âÂ
(Theyâre saying it in ways such that you have to read between the lines a bit though, so it may not come across as easily in a translation.)
The word for âcoldâ here is æ°Žăăă mizu-kusai, basically meaning âwatered downâ (like beer etc.), and used frequently to refer to a person/actions/words that the speaker considers too reserved for the relationship they have with the other person.
So itâs similar to cold, but cold in the context of already warm relationship. If talking about a stranger or someone you donât get along with normally, you shouldnât use æ°Žăăă; you can just say ć·ăă tsumetai (lit. âcoldâ) or similar.
In this context you could probably have her say âNo need to apologize, Kobayashi-san.â
Also I like how they swap around the honorifics (Miss, Lady, -san, -sama, etc.) based on the speaker (I think differentiating between dragons and native-Japanese-speaking humans?). I would say it works given the setting, but thatâs just me.
The text there says âMoney Street.â Itâs probably obvious, but itâs based primarily on Monopoly, which is semi-popular in Japan (though not to the extent as say in the US).Â
Just some trivia, but the âsales pitchâ for the game in the Japanese market is more that itâs an educational game that teaches investing and negotiation skills. (The origin of the game in general being an educational tool about exploitation of tenants by landlords, so not quite the same thing.)
Japan also has Momotarou Dentetsu (âMomotetsuâ), which is a video game series thatâs been around since the NES and is broadly similar to Monopoly rules-wise.
I just want to point out, amid all the riches, the bag of potato chips and other junk food in the back there.
Mini-trivia: the cardboard boxes in the background there seem to be a mix of the Amazon logo and the Seino Transportation logo, a Japanese shipping company with a kangaroo logo.
You probably noticed it without me pointing it out, but I enjoyed the fact Elma got corn starch* all around her mouth from the daifuku and then immediately got told to go play with the kids while the adults are talking.
*It may seem like powdered sugar if youâre used to donut holes, but daifuku, like most Japanese sweets (wagashi) generally, is not heavily sugared and not even particularly sweet by the standard of most âsweetsâ (which is part of the appeal for many). The skin of the daifuku is powdered with corn starch or similar simply to make it less sticky.
Kobayashiâs âdo thatâ here is ăăăŒ yarou, which can mean âletâs do Xâ (which is a construction often used to tell/suggest someone to do something, without really including yourself in the âusâ).Â
However in this caseâespecially given Kobayashiâs pronunciation and tone of voiceâI think itâs actually a homophone of that, a form of éé yarou, a word for âguyâ with often negative connotations, like saying âson of aâ or âassholeâ etc.Â
The idea, I think, being that his immediate agreement of âOooh, right I didnât think about you wearing it,â comes with a heavy implication of âyeah youâre right, you couldnât pull off something cute like that,â so sheâs replying with a (mostly good-natured) âoh you fucker.â
This giant ćź kan means âthe end,â used like âfinâ at the end of a story or game etc. Itâs also frequently used in âfake endâ jokes. E.g. a show about a sentient zombie might start with the main character getting hit by a truck and dying immediately. The end! ...Except not, and they wake up as a zombie.
So here, the original goal was âmake a maid outfit for Kobayashi to wear.â Then Georgie convinces Kobayashi that anything is a maid outfit as long as you are a maid at heart, so really, sheâs already wearing one! The end! ...Except not.
Hereâs some extra, probably needless, context on this âannoyingâ: it uses the word éąćăăă mendokusai, which is basically used to describe something as annoying, a pain, etc. When used to describe a person like this, one of the ways it can be taken is specifically that the person is really fussy about details that others wouldnât really care aboutâwhich describes Kobayashi about maids pretty well.Â
So just for clarity, itâs not necessarily âI became an annoying person who is a maid otaku,â and can be more of a âwithin the context of my maid otaku-ness I became annoying.â Just to kind of shed some light on the extent of her self-deprecation here.
The word Kobayashi uses for âhelping with the houseworkâ is 柶äșæäŒă kaji-tetsudai, which is a noun* that means âa housework helperâ... here, basically a more bland way for a native Japanese speaker to say maid.Â
Hence why Tohru reacts with âOh, donât call me that, call me a maid!â; Kobayashi went as far as to acknowledge her clothes as a maid outfit, but not quite as far as calling her maid outright. Thatâs our âannoying maid otakuâ doing her thing.Â
*It can also be verbed.
These neighborhood notices, ćèŠ§æż kairan-ban, ~lit. circular notice, are a method used by local governing organizations to distribute information or forms etc. For example, about an upcoming neighborhood event to pick up litter.
The general idea is that one person gets the notice, reads it, signs it, then goes and passes it to the next household in line. It saves paper versus sending everyone a thing in the mail, encourages interaction between neighbors, and is more likely to be read than a flyer/email, though some people consider them a pain and they generally feel a little dated.
The phrase for âpiercing noiseâ is ćăéćăéł, tsunzaku kanakiri-on, ~lit. âear-piercing sound of tearing metal.â*Â
âWas it that loud?â in the Japanese is a little different, ăăăȘéłăăŠă?, meaning âwas it making a sound like that?âÂ
Iâm mostly just bringing it up to say that the âSasakibeâs cooking isnât just loud, the sounds donât even make senseâ gag is alive and well this season.
*The âsound of tearing metalâ phrase can also used idiomatically for some types of high pitched sounds, but I imagine it was chosen very deliberately here.
Itâs probably obvious, but this is a reference to the music video of the OP for season one. You can see it on the official channel for the band, fhĂĄna, here.
The season two music video is here, and it seems to have decent English subtitles for the lyrics if youâre curious what they are.
The adjective here is ăăă« nihiru, an abbreviation of nihilistic. It can be used as actually ïżœïżœïżœnihilisticâ like in English, but it can also be used more colloquially to describe a person with dark vibes. It can almost be a compliment!
âSleepingâ here is æ°ç ăăăăŒă damin wo musaboru. Damin is not just sleep, but âworthlessâ sleepânot like a nap because youâre tired. Musaboru is a verb for ~gorging upon on something (often metaphorically, not just food).
The two words are somewhat frequently used together for, basically, lying around the house doing nothing all day. And not in a particularly flattering way, so itâs pretty funny for her to just be like âyeah I do that as a hobby I guess.âÂ
It doesnât mean the same thing, but itâd be like saying your hobby is loitering. Maybe could have translated as like âHobbies? Vegetating.â or âProcrastinating?â or something, though I donât know if those would have the right impact...
Kannaâs word for âidolâ here is ăąă€ăă« aidoru, i.e. idol in the pop culture sense.
Tohruâs word is ć¶ć guuzou, or idol in the religious sense.
(Tohru swaps to the pop culture âidolâ when she starts talking about Kobayashi though.)
Kannaâs âlost itâ it here is ć€§ć€ taihen, a pretty common, almost generic word used as an intensifier (greatly, immensely, seriously, terribly, really, etc.) in both positive and negative ways. E.g. âthanks, you really saved me!â or âthat was extremely rude.â
When used alone, like here, it usually implies something bad has happened, like something has befallen Tohru and/or sheâs in some sort of trouble. Hence why Kobayashi immediately rushes home worried and bursts through the door like thisâand loses her tension when she sees Tohru is fine, just... extreme(ly annoying to Kanna and Ilulu).
You could maybe say e.g. âSomethingâs wrong with Tohru!â to keep that double meaning open.
(âLost it!â also makes sense for Kobayashi to be worried about, but the type of worry is somewhat different in that case; âoh god what is she going to doâ vs. âoh god what happened to her.â)
The âlickâ here is ăčă bero, an onomatopoeia for licking thatâs also used as slang for "tongueâ (noun).
A bero chuu, as in the chorus here, is slang for a French kiss/deep kiss/tongue kiss.
~The More You Know~
The text here says âIf your total assets are above one billion, proceed towards goal.âÂ
Only billionaires can win...
Here is ç§ăźăăźăŻă«ăłăăźăăź, lit. âWhatâs mine is Kannaâs!â
This line is a reference to a catchphrase of the bully/antagonist in Doraemon, Gian: âWhatâs yours is mine, and whatâs mine is mine.âÂ
His line, and character, is so well known itâs spawned the term âGianismâ to represent that sort of self-centered philosophy: everything is rightfully mine to take, even if you think you lay some claim over it.
Itâs interesting that the inversion of Gianism, i.e. âwhatâs mine is yours,â is the only way Kanna and Saikawa are able to overcome the rules, beat the billionaire, and win the game.
Solidarity forever.

06 đđȘđ«đ đđȘđ·đČđŹ!
Synopsis: Sakusa Kiyoomi, a young ravishing man, an athlete for the Japanese volleyball team and comes from a very prominent family around Japan. He was perfect, looks, wealth and fame. But you canât have everything in life, can you? Sakusa, the germophobic athlete, suddenly wakes up one day and sees a baby boy in a basket in front of his door step, in the basket was a letter, a letter from his past lover, saying that the child was his. The panic look on the spikerâs face was almost comical, knowing that his life would turn into a complete 360, that day was his first time ever to miss a volleyball practice and to call Komori to ask for a babysitter. You.
Notice: the only thing I own is the plot, the art and the characters aren't mine and they all belong to their respective owners.
Safe to say you didnât get as much sleep as you hoped that night
âeh?â you were shocked, you didnât expect him to do it so soon
âyeah, they work from home tomorrow, we should pay them a visitâ
âwe?â you were flabbergasted, you? Youâre meeting the elite and respected Sakusa Family?
âyeah, do you have any problems with that?â yes, a lot
ân-no sirâ
So now you left a note on the kitchen counter saying you are going to the market to get some ingredients for the dish you were going to cook for Sakusaâs parents
Since you were young, your parents always taught you that you cannot visit a home empty handed, it was proper courtesy and showed respect and appreciation for having you in their home.
You strolled along the market looking at fresh produce, you opted for seafood, since itâs healthier for older people
A huge salmon caught your eyes and miso-zuke salmon immediately popped in your head, you looked at your watch, it was only five in the morning, you can let it marinate for how many hours and grill it for 30 minutes, which will be enough time to bring it for lunch
You bought it from the vendor who was very kind and even gave you a discount, after that you went to a bakery supplies to get some carrot dĂ©cor and some ingredients to make icing, you were planning to make a cake less sweet so Sakusaâs parents can eat as well
With that, you head home
You saw Sakusa seating by the coffee table, sipping coffee and reviewing the forms you filled out
âgood morning sirâ you say as you take the things you bought to the kitchen
âwe really donât need to bring them anything you knowâ he says as, eyes still not leaving the papers
âI know, but my parents always tell me to not visit anyoneâs house empty-handed, itâs a sign of courtesyâ
He just nodded and said âsuit yourselfâ
You begin making the marinade, thankfully the fish vendor was kind enough to slice the salmon up for you
About half way through you heard Kaitoâs cry and you were about to wipe your hands to get to him when Sakusa stood up
âI got him, continue your workâ
You nodded and did exactly that, it took fifteen minutes to make the marinade, you soaked the salmon in it , coverd it, and put in inside the freezer
Sakusa went out with a calm Kaito, he sat in the coffee table , his son carefully cradled in his one arm as his other hand held the forms he hasnât reviewed yet
Looks like he got the hang of carrying Kaito you said inside your head as you smiled to yourself
You slowly mixed the ingredients together not noticing that Sakusa was now behind you
âwhat are you doing?â you flinched , surprised by your boss sudden speaking
âIâm making a cake sirâ you said holding your chest
It wasnât clear, heck if you didnât spend your three months with him you wouldnât have noticed the small smile grazing his lips
And you regret noticing because you were now flustered
You cleared your throat
âwhereâs Kaito?â you asked, focusing your attention back to your task
âheâs sleepingâ he answered
Your mouth formed into an âoâ
âis it normal for babies to sleep so muchâ he asked, his voice genuinely concern
You chuckled  âapparently, it is sir, sleep is actually healthy for baby, aside from them having small stomach and get full easily, their tiredness can also be the cause of a growth spurt or developmental leapâ you say in as-a-matter-of-fact tone
He nods as he watches you pour the mixture to a cake mold, which he didnât even know he had
âdoes your parents like cake sir?â you asked as you put the dough into the oven
âmy mom eats it occasionally, my dad is a sucker for it, we try to make him cut it out for a bit, itâs bad for his healthâ
You nod, Sakusa has been a bit talkative since your talk last night
âin that case, Iâll make the buttercream frosting less sweetâ you say as you washed your hands to prepare to make the frosting
Sakusa watched you as you make the frosting, a lot of thoughts inside his head
âis she doing this to impress my parents?â
âwhy would she want to impress my parents?â
âdoes she likes-â
Sakusa shook his head profusely muttering small noâs you were just nice and polite, yea, thatâs it
He cleared his throat and went to the coffee table, he finished reviewing the forms you filled out and all of them were perfect, he opened his desktop and began with his work at the company again
The timer went off and it was time to take the cake out of the oven
Kaito was awake and mindlessly babbling in his crib while Sakusa watched replays of some volleyball games
You set the cake on a cooling rack to let it cool down for a while
You decided to clean the house while waiting for the cake to cool down
you wiped some shelves, throw out the trash and vacuumed, by the time you were finished cleaning , the cake was already cool, you begin frosting it, putting crushed nuts at the side of the cake and decorating the top of the cake with candy carrots and some edible decorative leaves, you slowly put it in the fridge
you sighed
âyou need to restâ Sakusa says as he gets himself some water
You looked at the time and it was already 10
You shook your head âI just need to grill the salmon sirâ and so you did grill the tuna for thirty minutes, gave Kaito a bath for twenty minutes, showered and changed yourself into a simple sundress
By the time you were done packing everything it was already 11:30
You and Sakusa made your way to his car, Kaito was in his baby seat and his father placed him on the back seat, you were about to seat beside Kaito when he cleared his throat
âwonât I look like a personal driver if the both of you sat there?â
You immediately got up and sat at the shotgun seat
The ride was quiet, it was a comfortable silence though, Kaitoâs occasional babbles while you were still amazed by the rich neighborhood and Sakusaâs eyes are focused on the road
You arrived at his parenâts place in fifteen minutes and you could hear the voices of people from afar
You entered the house-no, this was a freaking castle, it was huge, there was a guard, some gardeners and maids
Sakusa parked his car, you got out, he carried Kaitoâs baby seat which had a handle while you carried the cake and the salmon-sizu
You walked to the backyard where you saw some children, you recognize some of them as Sakusaâs older siblingsâ children, they looked like they were having an outdoor barbecue by their pool-side
Sakusa cleared his throat
They all stopped dead in their tracks eyes wide open
Sakusa glared at them âgeez you guys donât need to act like you saw a ghostâ
âwell what do you expect you barely visit us here?!â you assumed that it was his brother you spoke
His mother and father looked at you, and you felt very small
âwoah and you- you- holy crap your married?!â
And with just one sentence there was a fiasco
âUncle Kiyoomi is married? We have a new aunt?â a kid who was about nine said and rushed towards new but his sisters were already all up on you
âwoah when did you guys get married?â
âwhen did you meet?â
âwhat company does your family own?â
âyour dress looks so good?â
âdo you like chanel?â
You were overwhelmed and couldnât talk
Your boss sighed âsheâs not my wife, sheâs my sonâs nanny and househelperâ
They stopped on their tracks, as you stood there and smiled awkwardly
âbut youâre too pretty to be a nanny!â
One of his nieces explained
âyou have a son?!â Sakusaâs brother exclaimed
âI know rightâ Sakusa says nonchalantly
Sakusa was a calm compared to his very lively family
âyou impregnated your househelper?â Sakusaâs father asked confused
Your eyes widened and you shook your head profusely
âitâs Namiâsâ Sakusa sighed and handed his parents a letter, his brother and two sisters stood beside their parents to read the letter as well
They were dumbfounded when they finished reading, you canât blame them, you had the same reaction when you first read that letter as well
âwhat a cruel womanâŠâ Sakusaâs mother says, it seems like she was the first one to recover
Sakusa looked at his son who was looking up at him while sucking on his pacifier
âI donât need her to raise my sonâ Sakusa says sternly, his family members looked at him
Sakusa took Kaito in his arms âeveryone, this is Sakusa Kaito, my sonâ he says while Kaito babbles and cracked a toothless smile
There was a moment of silence
When...
âOh my lord! what a handsome baby!â Sakusaâs mother gushed and approached Sakusa and took Kaito from him
âholy hell bro he looks just like you!â his brother also says, as he pinch Kaitoâs cheeks
âI want him to model for my baby line AAAHHHHHâ his sister, which you assumed to be Aiko Sakusa a famous fashion designer
Sakusa Kairo the eldest among the siblings, a pilot and owns an airlines company
Akemi, the third child, a famous architect, she owns an architectural firm
And Sakusa Kiyoomi the youngest, Athlete-Entrepreneur manages a chain of hotels and restaurants
And of course Sakusa Arisa and Sakusa Katashi, the founder of Sakusa Empire
These people are one of the most influential family in japan, yet when you looked at them they look quite normal
Sakusa looked kind of distant, but you could see the softness in his features as he stares at his son being cradled and passed around by his family members
You did notice that his father was emotionlessly staring at the scene
âKiyoomi you havenât introduce your âhelperâ to us yetâ Akemi says teasingly
Sakusa shook his head
âthis is Y/N sheâs Komoriâs friend , she helps around my house and takes care of Kaitoâ he says as stood beside you
The whole family except for Komoriâs dad looked at you with almost teary eyes
âthank you for dealing with our ill-mannered kiyoomiâ his mother says
âYouâre too pretty to be a nanny though, if you ever consider modeling come to meâ Aiko says as she held both of your hands
You bowed to them politely âItâs a pleasure to meet you, Sir Kiyoomi is a good boss to meâ you said, feeling all stiff and awkward
âchill out Y/N-san we donât biteâ Kairo chuckled
You nodded awkwardly, Sakusa nudged you and pointed at the items you were holding
âoh, we bought you some salmon-sizu and carrot cake, I hope you like itâ you said as you showed them the things you bought
âY/N-chan I love you alreadyâ Akemi says as she took the carrot cake from you and led you to the table
In no time the family were all eating and having fun, you had Kaito in your arms and was feeding him
âY/n dear, this salmon and cake are so delicious, where did you buy them?â
You quickly realized that your bossâ mother was a sweet lady
âoh, I made them maâam, my mother is a baker, itâs her recipe, I tweaked it a bit for it to make it less quick, my father is a fish broker, he told me that salmon is a healthy fish to serveâ you smiled at her
âY/N-chan youâre too kind, I hope my brother isnât being a jerk to youâ Aiko says as she eats cake
You chuckled at them
âY/N-chan, how is our Kiyoomi?â Akemi asked
âSir Sakusa is doing fine I think, heâs just a bit tired from volleyball and the company, he also makes time for Kaito whenever he can, heâs still a little bit confuse and clumsyâ
Kairo, Akemi, Aiko and Mrs. Sakusa nodded together
âY/N-chan do you like Kiyoomi?â Aiko asked which made you flustered
âI-I- yes-yes b-but- as a boss- I like him as a person-like a boss-â
âgeez no need to get flustered now, we were only askingâ Kairo said as he chuckled
âwe donât mind if you like him though, weâll be delighted to have you hereâ Akemi says and smiled at you
You were now as red as a tomato
After the conversation, you were left with Kaito, he was now wide awake and you were playing with him
Only then did you noticed Sakusaâs father staring at you two
You cleared your throat, you got up, carrying Kaito, you cleaned up the plates near Sakusaâs father
Kaito pointed at his grandfather
You quietly approached the man
âsir, do you want to hold him?â Â you asked
He looks up at you, you smiled at him and slowly sat Kaito on his lap
He looks at Kaito emotionlessly, when Kaito smiled at him and babbles âbabababa!â
For the first time today, you saw a soft smile made its way to Sakusaâs fatherâs face
âhe looks just like himâ the elderly man mumbles
âI can see that sirâ you smiled softly at them, slowly taking out your phone and quietly took a picture of the scene, not knowing that some of the eyes of the family were on you
âsheâs a good womanâ Sakusaâs mother says to his son
âshe isâ Kiyoomi says as he stares at you, having a small conversation with his father, itâs very rare for him to communicate or interact with people other than business matters, but he doesnât seem to have any trouble conversing with you
âdo you like her Kiyo?â his mother asks teasingly
âmom, noâ Kiyoomi sighs and takes a sip of his lemonade
Although his parents were mostly absent during his childhood, him and his siblings maintained a close relationship with them, and both his mother and father always made time for them on the weekends
A lot of people assumed that they were like the rich family from dramas, the tension and stuff but it was far from that, they were pretty normal, and chaotic at times
âYour salmon-sizu was very goodâ your bossâ dad says as you took Kaito from him, the baby has already fallen asleep
âthank you sir, it was my dadâs recipe, he says itâs good for your healthâ you smiled as you cradled Kaito
He smiled and got up from his seat to join the rest of his family, you laid Kaito on his baby seat and wiped the sweat off his forehead
The rest of the day were spent with you helping the maids with grilling, but Aiko quickly swooped in and wanted you to join the party, so there you were surrounded by your bossâ nieces and nephews
âyouâre not uncle Kiyoâs girlfriend?â Arata, who was around seven years old asked you, he was Kairoâs son
You chuckled and shook your head
âbut I want you to be my aunt, aunt y/nâ Chizu who was Aikoâs daughter, said with pleading eyes
You just chuckled at them and diverted their attention to something else, you told them stories your parents and sister used to tell you when you were young, their eyes sparkled with fascination, even Mika and Eichi who were both teenagers were interested in your stories as well that they tore their eyes off of their phone screens
Later in the night you guys played uno, you taught them the basics, these kids didnât know anything about games outside their phones
You couldnât really relate to the adultâs conversation since they were talking about businesses so you hang out with the kids, and you were loving every moment of it, despite being born from rich families, they were really nice and humble, Eichi was very similar to his grandfather and his Uncle KIyoomi but he was polite nonetheless
It was finally time to leave, the kids were tired and the same to the adults
âcome visit us soon aunt y/nâ Mira says sleepily she was Akemiâs only child
You smiled at them and waved
âyou better come back Y/N-chan we want another one of your carrot cakeâ Aiko says as you bowed to them
âdear, if ever Kiyo fires you, you are free to apply at our houseâ says Kiyoomiâs mother says as you leave
Your boss sighs as you finally entered his car
âthey really like youâ he mumbles
âI guess they do?â you chuckled
âhey y/n, thank youâ
You tilt your head in confusion âfor what sir?â
âjust, thank youâ

[TRANSLATION: POTATO 05.2021]
7 MEN SAMURAI SOLO INTERVIEW
Scans not mine
Neither an English nor a Japanese native speaker
Feel free to correct me, thanks
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
A gravure of 6 people who gives off a wonderful aura that seems like will make you fall in love the moment your eyes meet. In the interview, the members's value towards "love at first sight" is highlighted. (The interview was done at the middle of March.)
Questions:
Q1. Does love at first sight exist?
Q2. What specific first impression of a girl has a good impression on you?
Q3. What is the item that you fell in love at first sight and bought it?
Konno Taiki
A1. It is relatively possible (LOL).
But, not just based on the appearance, I may also be attracted to her inner side. I think I will find her cute when I try talking to her and will find out that she is an honest and airheaded girl. Basically, since I want for the move to come from me (T/N: lit. push myself harder), so on the contrary, I don't like to be told, "I fell in love with you at first sight." Without suddenly asking her contact address, I want to do things step by step (LOL). And then, when I also think that it is okay on her side (T/N: lit. she's good), I want to confess to her finally.
A2. Since I like someone who is an airhead, I can recognize if the person is an airhead or not on the first meeting. Since there is something that impresses only me (LOL). Being too much of an airhead is a problem but I like someone who is an airhead to an extent that I can tease. When she said something wrong, I want to pester her saying, "Can you try saying it again?" (LOL).
A3. I like a lot the black bomber jacket that I bought last year. I like the color black, and I came to like simple styles too. I first saw it in the internet but I am the type who buys things that I have seen in actual so I went to see it at the actual store and bought it there.
Recent Happening
I want to go and buy spring clothes but I refrain from going out too much so I can't go and buy...An email from the brand that I like came saying, "Our new collection is out" and I desperately want those (LOL). I buy sweater and parka every year but this year I am greatly troubled [whether to go out and buy or not]!
Nakamura Reia
A1. It totally exists! Since the personality shows on the face, if I like the face then I will like the personality too I think. I think the type of person I will like depends on the situation I am in at that moment. Like, I think a person who seems kind when I am tired is nice, and I will be attracted to a person who looks like I can have fun with when I am in high-spirit. But, on the contrary, I might get turned off at the person who falls in love at me at first sight.
Since I am putting a fake face in front of a person who I am meeting for the first time (LOL). It is not the first impression but I feel really being liked when the person responses back to me as an answer to my approach.
A2. More than being fixed with clothes that are in trend, I like better a person who shows "I like this!" with her clothes and small accessories. I want her to be a nerd of something. We will be excited together if we have the same hobby, and if we have different hobbies, I want her to teach me her hobby. For example, I am an indoor type but if she likes fishing, I want for us to try doing it together.
A3. A black setup with a dragon embroidery on it. It is very stern (LOL), but the material is very soft and it feels good wearing it, and I don't have to think of a coordinate so it is easy to wear. I often wear it to the filming site of ăGekikaradouă.
Recent Happening
I bought a Pachira and started to raise it. Honestly, I wanted an animal but plants are cute too! I usually place it at the entranceway. But I sometimes bring it next to the window so it well get some sunlight.
Yabana Rei
A1.There is. It's just that I am shy of strangers so it takes time for me to make some move. I will consult for roughly a year (LOL).Or perhaps I should say, as long as there's no proof that I can make a move, it may take forever for me to make a move. If it will strangely destroy our relationship then it is better to just stay as friends. Even if a girl falls in love with me at first sight and approached me, I am thickheaded so I will probably not be able to notice it. I will not know if I will not be clearly told, "I like you."
A2. A person who can behave. For example, I like someone who stays silent in a quiet establishment, or someone who can read the room. Also, I think I will be happy with someone who has the same hobby as mine. Like we happen to like the same genre in music. My tension will rise the most with a person who likes cars.
A3. I don't think I am the type who buys impulsively at things that I fall in love at first sight. Even though I falll in love at first sight at something, I'm the type who will think properly about it. The black bass with a drawing of a bird that I bring on stage until now is a bass that I found by chance in an instrument shop. Even though there are other choices, after thinking too much about it, I thought, "The appearance of this one is cool after all," and I went to buy it the next day.
Recent Happening
3 more days and my sticker as a new car driver will be removed! Among the members, Taiko, Konpi (Konno), and Rinne-kun rode already but Taiko and Konpi are substantially banned from riding [my car]. Since they went on a rampage inside the car. They misunderstood a person's car with a jet coaster (LOL).
Motodaka Katsuki
A1. I don't fall in love at first sight but I think 1st impression is important to an extent. I think I will gradually like the person, who I thought is nice during our first meeting, while getting to know her. I am bad at dealing with someone who falls in love with me for the first time! But I am worried that that person will fall in love with another person (LOL). But if that person asked me, "Should we grab for a delicious meal?" I might be lured with food...(LOL). Moreover, I will be like "I know a shop with a delicious taco rice" and it seems like if I was told about something I am a maniac of, I will definitely talk about it.
A2. I am interested with the lips. With natural color, it has a sense of cleanliness, and lips that are not dry is nice. Things like lipsticks with loud colors, I don't like that much those that are shiny. A color that is close to a bare lips has a good impression in me. Wanting to kiss those lips without thinking, lips like that.
A3. I fell in love at a flounder in a fresh fish market and I bought it. Since its body is big, I was thinking that I could fillet it into 5 fillets. I filleted it into 5 fillets immediately at home, and I broiled some in the burner and I also made sushi.
Recent Happening
Abe (Ryohei)-kun gave me a parka from a brand I thought was good before. Before the filming of ăQ-sama!!ă, he casually gave it to me saying, "Oh, which reminds me, here." I was really happy but it is super valuable that I can't wear it (LOL).
Sugeta Rinne
A1. I often think, "This person is cute" (LOL). But, I definitely do not tell it out loud! Finally, when I liked her inner side, I might be the type who will advance to being a boyfriend from being a friend. Even if how cute the person is, I don't like those who use words like ăwă
ăèă ăsore naă in mails (LOL). (T/N: w = laugh (LOL), è = literally, it means grass but people in the internet use it like "w" which means "laugh (LOL)" because "w" looks like a grass) Conversely, I will be a happy if a person falls in love with me at first sight, but I will completely doubt and ask, "Really?" If I am invited as a friend and gets confessed to, then my suspicions may loosen.
A2. A person who has silky hair, light makeup, and without colored contact lens. To exert a great amount of effort to be pretty is wonderful, but I think I like it better when it is not overly done. I like a neat and tidy person who looks good in white tops and denim pants!
A3. Before, I often fell in love at first sight with clothes, but I have a lot of failed purchases from buying clothes without trying them on. Like, when I bought a black long tee with a lion print on it, it turned out to be a dress for ladies (LOL). What I am currently aiming at is a sneaker with orange print on a white background. Since I haven't tried it on, I plan to buy it after I tried wearing it.
Recent Happening
Since I don't move extremely in the stage playăHidamari no Kiă, my muscles toned down. My belly is protruding because of gastroptosis, so I was asked "Are you full?" during the dressing of Hakama (LOL). I must go back to training.
Sasaki Taiko
A1. There is. Isn't love in this world is approximately like that? I think there's not much of those who advance from friends to lovers. But since I want to know things about the other party, I want for us to exchange messages for around a month. And then, I want to meet the parents. Since it seems like we can properly date if I know the parents.
A2. A girl with pretty legs. I maybe looking at the legs more than the face. I like those girls who take care of their legs. But that doesn't mean I like girls to wear mini skirt, I am on the pants side. Lately, I think I came to like those pants like flare pants where it is tight in the thigh area.
A3. A large quantity of water from a large supermarket. 500mL of water came in a set of 40 bottles and it was very cheap. Also, I impulsively bought toilet paper. I bought so many that everything can't fit in the house so I gave some to my high school friend (LOL). Since I got my driver's license, I can now go in the supermarket alone and I go there around once a week lately. It feels like, "I've become an adult~." My next aim is the big potato chips!
Recent Happening
In the "Taiko Challenge" in ISLAND TV, when I uploaded a video of putting candy into a carbonated drink, I was surprised that the official account of the candy tweeted about it. Moreover, it is in English. Isn't that amazing? A CM may come after that...it will be my advance to the world. I might really do it! (LOL)

Oooh Japanese Kit Kats. Iâve got some matcha ones in the cabinet right now, but the apple pie ones were also really good.
have you ever been to a professional sports event?
Mostly baseball and hockey when I was younger. Nothing recently, Iâm not terribly interested in sports.
what is the last thing you said out loud?
âSaigo ni nan to itte ita kke anata wa nan to itte ita kke...â (I was not even paying attention while writing this but âKekka-ronâ by SUPER BEAVER came on and I automatically started singing the opening lines)
what is your favorite ice cream?
So I really canât eat dairy (even tho I do sometimes), but thereâs this brand of coconut milk ice cream called Luna & Larry, and their cherry amaretto is the besssssst.
what was the last thing you had to drink?
Drinking coffee right now.
do you like your wallet?
Itâs cute, itâs pink and black and has cats on it, and I bought it from an anime con a couple years ago.
what was the last thing you ate?
Chocolate almond milk pudding for breakfast.
did you buy any new clothes last weekend?
No but I bought these awesome Shintaro Kago enamel pins for when I finally get off my ass and redo my itabag (link contains kittens exploding from cute girlsâ faces, and there is a bit of blood - also the site is very NSFW).
the last sporting event you watched?
We watched some marble racing after seeing John Oliver talk about it.
what is your favorite flavor of popcorn?
Caramel I guess. Not a huge popcorn eater.
who is the last person you sent a text message to?
I texted my brother Mark about Rakuten Global Market closing. Though Iâve only bought maybe one j-rock CD off of there once. I usually just go to cdjapan.
ever go camping?
A few times. Iâm really scared of bugs and spiders, so itâs not something I do often. But Iâve had the fun experience of getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and seeing a snake slither right past the building.

Oooh, Chinese food. Especially crab rangoon if theyâre homemade.
do you drink your soda with a straw?
I slam that shit straight outta the can.
what color socks do you usually wear?
If I had a choice, I would never wear socks. But when I do wear them, theyâre usually novelty socks with, like, tacos and poptarts all over them.
do you ever drive above the speed limit?
When my stepdad taught me how to drive, he said âalways go 10 miles over the speed limit, because thatâs what everyone else is doing and theyâll run you off the road otherwise.â Iâve only gotten caught about 3 or 4 times.
what terrifies you?
Talking to people. Being judged. Failure. All my friends abandoning me. Being alone.
look to your left, what do you see?
My ONE OK ROCK tote bag with an Arches cold press watercolor pad sticking out of it. I need to paint larger pictures more. Thatâs good quality just sitting around going to waste.
what chore do you hate?
Emptying the dishwasher when itâs cleaned.
what do you think of when you hear an Australian accent?
That episode of the Simpsons when they went to Australia because Bart got in trouble, and Marge went to the bar asking for a tea and the guy just kept saying âBeer?â -- âNo, TEA.â âBEER?â
whatâs your favorite soda?
La Croix, though itâs technically sparkling water.
do you go in a fast food place or just hit the drive-thrus?
I usually just get takeout, I havenât been in a typical fast food place or a drive-thru in years (unless you count the Korean chicken wing place, I guess thatâs kind of like fast food. But I donât go to McDâs or anything.).
whoâs the last person you talked to?
I told Greg I was going to throw some laundry in but he already did it.

Not really a steak person but Iâll eat a burger all day long.
last song you listened to?
[Alexandros] -Â âPhilosophyâ (itâs gotten me thru some tough shit a couple months ago)
last book you read?

Probably Saturday, but Friday is a close second.
can you say the alphabet backwards?
Oh god no.
how do you like your coffee?
1/2 - 1 teaspoon of sugar. No cream.
favorite pair of shoes?
I got an old pair of Chinese Laundry black boots with studs in the heels that I wish I had bought 2 pairs of before they were discontinued.
the time you normally go to sleep?
During the week, about 10:30PM - 11:30 (itâs a little later now that Iâm working from home). Weekends are usually between 1AM-2 (look, Iâm old OK).
the time you normally get up?
8:30AM or so (working from home), and between 9AM-10 on weekends.
what do you prefer, sunrise or sunsets?
I have maybe been awake for 2-3 sunrises in my life, so sunsets it is.
how many blankets on your bed?
Just one.
Describe your kitchen plates.
I have a couple plain blue ones and then some white with black trim. I think they were all housewarming gifts from my grandma from about 10 years ago.
do you have a favorite alcoholic beverage?
Vodka and beer.
do you play cards?
I used to on occasion, but I donât have friends who live around me, so I donât really have anyone to play with.

If I need to, I guess.
favorite job youâve ever had?
I donât think Iâve ever had a job I liked.
how did you get your biggest scar?
I fell off a bike at Soulcycle a couple years ago and punched a quarter-sized hole in my right thigh. Rode thru the entire 45-minute class, drove home, made dinner, and about 2 hours later finally asked Greg to take a look at it. I thought it was just a scrape, but he told me we were going to the hospital immediately as fat tissue was leaking out of it. I ended up getting 10 stitches and was called âone badass bitchâ for my ridiculous pain tolerance.
what did you do today that made someone else happy?
Idk, I like to think Iâm a good listener if anyone wants/needs to talk.
Iâm always terrified of bothering people, so if you want to do this, please do!

September 2019 Lucky Treat!
Well here we are guys, finally! As it turns out, I was supposed to get this on my birthday (the 15th) and it came, but at the time I was taking a nap because I was gone most of the day and I felt really tired when I got home. So they showed up around 6pm but nobody answered the door, and since I had to sign for it they left.
This isnât the first time this has happened, I somehow miss foreign packages I need to sign for <_< my mom and I argue over this every time, and as I expected it didnât come the next day. I wasted 2-3 hours stalking the front door and not leaving the room at all for anything. So yesterday morning we picked it up, but it just wasnât a good day to try to post this.
Itâs also the reason why my next review hasnât been posted but you can expect to see that later today. So for now, letâs focus on this!
As a reminder I wonât be reviewing these items due to them being sent for free. Iâll just be showing them and giving my opinions.
(Note the Kawaii Box Iâm supposed to review in the background...)
Okay, so as you can see this is exactly how it arrived. I initially assumed it would be one large box, so I was actually relieved to see it consisted of 2 medium-sized boxes. Both were light weight and easy to carry.
Japan Haul, for anyone unfamiliar with the name or new to the blog is the online store belonging to the branding that makes Tokyo Treat, YumeTwins, NMNL. You can find a lot of the box items, as well as some unique items on there, which is why I try to recommend you check it out if youâre ever interested in the items from those boxes. There wasnât any special papers or anything in the box, but each of them had an âorder summery sheetâ and a sheet of protective Styrofoam on the bottom.
Before I begin I wanted to mention that usually thereâs a âvalueâ depicted in the information or picture for the Lucky Treat, but this one didnât have it. On each box it says their values were 1000yen, so combined I think that might be $200.00? I donât know much about foreign currency so donât quote me on it.
-------
Mew Plushie & Vulpix Plushie
Anyone who reads this blog knows that I am OBSESSED with Vulpix/Rokon- it was the reason I just had to have this box, and it hasnât left my side since I opened the one it was inside. It was true love from the day we met; I have various Vulpix items, including a smaller plush from a KFC promotion when I was a kid, a couple toy items, stickers, coloring book pages, and several TCG cards in both English and Japanese~
About a year or so back they were featuring Vulpix (normal and Alola) in Japanese merch. Iâve always wanted to visit Japan, but that was probably when I wanted it the most.
The plush is pretty big (although I know in comparison to the Mew it doesnât look it), itâs the perfect lap size~ Itâs also very soft, with fluffy material for the hair and tails that is a combination of rose swirls and tufts. The tails are one solid piece with lines between them to give them the feel of individual pieces, but the curled portions are separated. I love love love love love it~
--------
So as you can tell, Vulpix isnât the only plush we got in this months box :3 in fact we got a handful more to go- including this really big Mew Plush. Currently this is the second biggest Pokemon Plush I own, itâs a few inches taller than the piplup I won at the fair a few years back, but smaller than the Meowth I got when I was a kid.
This plush is made from the same fabric as the vulpix but lacks the fluffy hair accents. The sewn details are perfect, itâs feet are properly stuffed and a little floppy, while its super-long tail is sewn to the back, so I assume it would dangle if I cut the strings. Heâs great for hugs.
Flaaffy Plushie & Mini Eeevee Plushie
We got 2 more Pokemon plushies, including this very small Flaaffy plush~ Itâs like the Vulpix in which it has normal plush fabric, and slightly softer fabric for the wool on its neck and head. Itâs stitching and details are great, itâs a really good quality plushie.
According to its tag itâs part of a Pokemon Fit line. I never heard of it so I donât really know what it contains- but I think itâs adorable how out of the 4 Pokemon itâs normally the biggest, and here itâs the smallest. It fits in the palm perfectly.Â
------
Our final Pokemon plushie is an adorable, fluffy Eevee. I really like Eeevee and its eeveelutions, and I really liked playing Letâs Go Eeevee! so this was a lovely surprise; now if only I had some items to make it match mine~
Itâs well made and very cute and sweet looking, and according to the tag this came out last year- probably for Letâs Go Eeevee :P Itâs a big bigger than Flaaffy, but still fits in the palm nicely. I canât decide if I like its fluffy neck fur or huge tail more~
Kopiyo Friends Cushion
This is our last plush-based item in the box, an adorable cushion themed after an adorable birdie. From Kopiyo Friends there was a variety of various birds you could get in this set, but for Lucky Treat it was this specific... parakeet? It looks like the ones I used to have when I was little, so Iâve been calling it that.
Itâs a good size for a pillow (head, lap, legs, etc) and itâs stuffed enough to feel marshmallowy squishy, and it stretches a little bit. It was very comfortable, and it makes for a nice secondary pillow you can cuddle with.
Solgaleo Figure & Mewtwo Mug
If you guys couldnât tell this box was almost entirely Pokemon oriented :3 and to go with our plushies, we have a Solgaleo figurine from the latest handheld Pokemon games (until sword and shield comes out anyway). Itâs from the Moncolle-EX collection of Pokemon figures... and thatâs pretty much all I can say other than itâs paint quality is great. Iâm not sure about the figure quality itself because I wonât be removing it from the packaging. I might give it to my friend, who bought this version of the game.Â
-----
Now this next item goes with the Mew I got, and I think they were both made to celebrate the upgraded/updated Mewtwo Strikes Back movie. I know my picture quality of this sucks, but I was kind of on a time crunch at this point... and by that I mean, I had cats going crazy in the background trying to get in my way and play with the boxes <_<
The mug has a very detailed, mood-setting picture for the movie. I have to admit itâs not really my style (CUTIEcrates probably says it all right?), but I do like it as a Pokemon fan and Iâll find a use for it.
Gengar Mask & Pokemon Memo
Now this is an item perfect for this time of the year, as well as when I clean or when the allergies hit (where was it during summer when I needed it?!). I did have one mask from a really old DokiDoki, but I have no clue where that went.
I love Gengar (at this rate itâs easier just to say every Pokemon in this box are ones I like, nearly), so this is a cute, funny little item. Itâs a nice, padded mask with two layers of filtered-like fabric over the part covering your nose and/or mouth. Iâm not really sure if they serve a purpose (maybe filtering dust or scent or something?) but they have a nice clean smell.
----
We canât forget the stationery items now :3 and to go with all of our Pokemon goodness we have a notepad with 4 sets of 8 different designed papers! They easily tear apart and come from the Pokemon World Market series, featuring the various Pokemon from various regions hanging out and having fun.
Pokemon World Market Re-Ment & Colorful Ramune Blind Bag
Iâm assuming the Pokemon World Market is a current series/collection :3 because next we have an adorable re-ment set. I miss getting re-ments in the boxes, so this was very exciting. Like the notepad, these were based on various regions foods, Pokemon, and activities. Such as the one I got, the Kanto region, having a bike, a Poke Flute, and a Pokemon Doll. Each one also includes a map of the specific region.
If you were curious, here are what the others had:Â
2. Squirtle Watering can, toy, milk, manju/dorayaki?
3. Torchic, Rice cracker, Pokeblock storage, and what looks like an envelope and ticket.
4. Piplup, helmet, shovel, what looks like chocolate, and Poffins.
5. A Pokedoll, a ferris wheel toy, and ice cream.
6. Pokedoll, food, skates, and the girl trainers hat.
7. A book or magazine with Snorlax, a toucan measuring piece(?), a bowl or fruit in a box, and an Alola Exeggutor pen with base.
Now compared to the others, mine feels pretty simple. But the detail on each piece is amazing; I could look at re-ments all day~ I really wish I could display mine, but I just donât have a safe place or any room for them at the time. As much as I think a re-ment subscription box would be fun, Iâm kinda glad they donât have one of those :P Iâd be in trouble.
-------
Now, this is a Tokyo Treat special box, of course there has to be a couple food items~ and first up is a Pokemon, Wobbuffet bling bag candy tin, which features 6 different designs that feature Wobbuffet interacting with various Pokemon. Theyâre all so cute!
But lookie lookie, did you notice which one I got~? The special mystery one :D Iâm not sure if that was intentional or not, but I thought it was a fun additional surprise.
There are 3 flavors of candy, including a blue ramune/soda, yellow... I think lemon (but it could be banana? It doesnât taste like it though), and a pinkish-red one that I couldnât identify. It might be cola, because it tastes like a nasty cola Japanese candy DIY I tried a couple years back- one of the only cola flavors I didnât like. But the candies are pretty good, even that weird might be cola one.
Pokemon Nori Chips & Dragonball Super Candies
Given the few Non-Pokemon items in the box, I was surprised to see this Dragonball themed candy. These come in a tin-like piece similar to old-style Japanese fruity hard candy. Iâve seen them several times but never had them before- and let me tell you, itâs a picnic trying to open these! Youâll definitely want a pen or scissors or a cornered object or something, nails are not recommended though. But maybe mine are just wimpy. The good news is that you donât have to worry about them spilling.
Anyway, these are just cute orange spherical candies with a simple orange-ish flavoring to them. Itâs not overly sweet or tangy, so itâs good if you like a mild candy.
-----
To kick up the snacks, we also have some curry-flavored Nori Chips/Seaweed. They come in this adorable Pokemon tin featuring Pikachu and some other impressive pokemon, and the inside is lined by pleated paper. The tin is 71.0 calories.
The seaweed/nori is thin, but in 2 layers, with curry flavored powder/substance between them. If you donât like the taste of curry or seaweed you probably wonât like these, but if you do then you will. I actually really like eating seaweed as a snack, and curry is pretty yummy so I really like them x3 theyâre not spicy, but it seems to pick up heat the more you eat of them. Theyâre also very crunchy.
Pokemon Tote
We also have some fun apparel, including a Pokemon Tote by the brand Outdoor Products, which has been in business since 1973 apparently. It includes a rainbow variety of colorful Pokemon from a few different generations making a variety of poses. I think thereâs 2 per Pokemon. The bag also features a velcro strap to hold it shut, and itâs a medium-big size, so it would come in handy for a lot of stuff.
Pokemon Mini Bath Towel
To go with the Pokemon World Market collection, we also have this adorable and colorful mini-bath towel featuring all the different regions Pokemon having a fun time playing and checking things out at their respective hangouts x3
Despite the name, this thing couldnât be fit into a single picture without losing a lot of detail, so I had to settle for this. Itâs very soft fabric, Iâm very eager to begin using it because itâll go great with that set of Pokemon wash clothes I got a few months back.
------
Okay guys, that will be it for now! What did you think, was this Lucky Treat good? I really wish the other subscribers could have won this too because it was very fun and exciting- I still canât believe i won it!
However, I did notice an item is missing. There was also supposed to be a pair of Pokemon Socks that I didnât find in either box. I checked multiple times, and I couldnât find anything to say the item was removed from the box, so I donât know what happened. I messaged them about it, but because this was entirely free, I donât actually mind the mistake. It happens... of course, if it had been my Vulpix then heads would roll.
Just kidding :P Anyway, Iâll keep you guys updated on that. Until later, remember to hug a Pokemon!

Top 5 Anime of 2017
Why only top five? Iâm hoping my previous post will explain, but for those who wonât see it: 2017 has not been a good year for me and anime. In the first half of 2017, the anime was scarce, and I had nothing to do, then the past 6 months, Iâve been overloaded with work and illness, and the anime got out of hand. While I watched, but didnât necessarily finish, 40 shows this year, it was getting hard to pick from the list. Most of the shows, I either canât or wonât be able to do reviews for months. Some of the shows I watched just because I needed a laugh or something to stare at or listen to while I was working. This year kinda sucked all around, but youâre here for my anime recs for the year, not my life summary of 2017.
Now, for the top five. This list is cleaved down to my personal favorites of the last year, shows I was excited to see every week, have finished, and would like more people to see.
5. Recovery of an MMO Junkie ( Net-juu no Susume)
It was nice to have a few soft anime this year. While gag shows are fun and all, a lot rely on gross humor to get along, so it was good to see something candy-colored and enjoyable every week. Nettojyuu is a sweet show with a great cast of characters. I was so happy to see it update every week as I got more and more invested in the main romantic plot line. If I had one complaint, I think itâs I didnât want it to end. The general plot got solved, but I wanted to see more of the side characters fleshed out, and perhaps a longer, more heated romance between the main couple.
Itâs also nice to have a show thatâs not an MMO/Isekai, wherein itâs written very genuinely and doesnât rely on stupid, worn out gimmicks to get by.
4. Made in Abyss
Meanwhile, I love dying and being dead. The winner of this yearsâ âWatch with the friends at game night and suffer togetherâ show is Made in Abyss. This anime was intense. So very intense. Iâm glad I didnât watch it alone because it not only was comforting to have others suffer with you, but then it would generate a lively discussion among us when each episode ended. Seeing a season two announcement was exciting, because otherwise, with where this anime left off, it would not have been on this list.
In addition to just being gorgeous and having a great soundtrack, Made in Abyss also did an excellent job world building, not having to do many info dumps, and excellent character writing and design. It was painful to watch Riko and Reg go through what they went through, but they were likeable, sympathetic characters, which carries your interest all the way through.
3. My Hero Academia
TOURNAMENT ARC. No, but seriously, Heroaca has been one of my favorite Shonen anime in a long time. Iâm in love with the character designs, the pacing, and definitely the fight choreography. Itâs just a good Shonen beat em up anime. Last season it felt like we really didnât get to go many places, but this season, character development and plot advancement went through the roof. It was almost hard to keep up with the pace and I was so glad to see more of the hero class get fleshed out. This is hopefully going to be a staple in the Shonen category for a while, at least until itâs run is over. Itâs rocketed its way into my heart, for sure.
2. Eccentric Family 2 (Uchouten Kazoku)
The last three shows on this list are sequels, and honestly, the whole list could have been sequels. This year, the shows I loved the most were ones that were carrying on. Many of those shows, I didnât start until too late for them to get into the top ten before, but now, these shows are shining bright.
By the same author as the Tatami Galaxy and Yoru wa Mijikashi Aruke Otome, the eccentric family takes a great, modern spin on traditional Japanese lore. The first season of this anime was cute, funny, and intense. Iâm very glad I got the first season on DVD now so I can rewatch it, but the scope of this world only widens this season with new characters, new settings, and some incredible drama.
1.  Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu Sukeroku Futatabi Hen
Hi, I hate that many people ditched the first season of this show based solely on the fact it was âtoo Japanese.â While yeah, Iâve taken my love for anime and extended it to learning the language, history, and culture, I think I would have loved Rakugo just as much, even if I hadnât had all of my history classes. The reason being is because I love the performing arts and this show carries itself on itâs characters. The first seasonâs massive flash back was a hoot to watch, with wonderful full rakugo sequences, strong relationship dynamics, and the backdrop of history unfolding. This season carried on, connecting the dots between episode one of season one, to episode one of season two. I think the most important thing about this anime is just how human it is and how strong the characters are. My favorite part was watching them age, and I did something I hardly ever do when I finished it. I started back from the beginning and watched the whole series in one sitting again. There are things you notice that you didnât notice before, and it was such an emotional watch. Iâm really glad the manga got licensed here, but now Iâm waiting anxiously for the whole series. This anime concludes with a bang to rival many classic series.
Lastly, I want to give a huge honorable mention to the movies of 2016. Yes, 2016! Because everyone sucks at their job, all of the HUGE hits of last year have just recently hit the western market. I waited patiently and got to see a couple in theaters, on DVD, and one even online because Iâm a horrible goblin and this movie wonât get licensed for another year or two since itâs so miniscule in the west.
Your Name/Kimi no Na wa, Yoru wa Mijikashi Aruke Otome, Koe no Katachi, and In This Corner of the World/ Kono sekai no katasumi ni
Each of these movies were heartwarming/heartbreaking, visually stunning pieces of art which Iâm so glad I finally got to watch. Theyâre all so different, but I think each is very important. I was lucky to get to see Your Name in theaters and my wonderful friend bought me the blue ray AND the soundtrack for Christmas. If you have the means to, I HIGHLY recommend you watch these movies that got left in the dust by western companies unable to simulcast movies.

Japan Travel Log (6/13-6/23/2018)
m
Tokyo Drift
We landed in Narita and met up with our guide Norio. I almost had to act as second-in-command since one of our kids was sent to a doctor. and our tour sponsor went with the ill student She had had a seizure in flight and the airlines arranged for a doctor to meet us at the airport. The kid was OK...the doctor said the seizure more than likely stemmed from the fact that she was menstruating, dehydrated, a lack of sleep, and staring at her phone and TV screen for a long time.Â
We were taken to Akihabara for shopping time before dinner. Itâs a nerdâs paradise with shops selling anime merchandise, cosplay items, etc. This tour was more fast-paced than the 2015 excursion. I saw a lot of those little vending machines with plastic bubbles, but never got a chance to get one of the prizes. Last time it was a goose with yellow diarrhea. This year the theme was animals with Quagmire jaws.Â
We went to the Asakusa Kannon Temple and Meiji Shinto Shrine. Then there was a lecture from an ex-sumo wrestler that was quite interesting. I learned that some of those guys have 20% body fat despite their size.Â
Norio took us to a major shopping mall/arcade. I ended up by myself and was a bit anxious about getting lost. I found a Disney Store, bought some BH6 and Zootopia things before going into a noodle house and ordering bukkake noodles. I was more relaxed after lunch and found a Snoopy store but it was too late to really see much.Â
Later on, after touring the city some more (Tokyo City Hall) we ate a sumo supper:Â
The next day we went to a fishermanâs market and met up with some college students as part of an exchange program. Our sponsor presented the boys with Mexican candies. Only one of the students seemed to like the marzipan. Our student guide took us to Don Quijote for a brief shopping stint (I stocked up on plum kit-kat bars and Hachiko-themed fruit drops. My GoRuck pack was heavy toting ten cans of those candies. I was a little bummed about bypassing Hachikoâs statue, but it was packed with people who seemed amused that a cat was sleeping between the dogâs paws.Â
That Saturday was a bit brutal on our feet. With the heavy traffic, the guide had us travel by metro and foot. We ventured into Harajuku. I kept to the stationary stores and a t-shirt shop where the clerk was more than happy to assist me in buying a few shirts for gifts (and take my yen). I would have liked to have gone into Burberry but Iâd have spent an arm and a leg in there. It was crowded, balls packed with tourists. Even getting drinks at a Seven-Eleven was crazy. All aisles were full of people. Iâm also thankful for my teacher bladder because there was only stop at the public restroom from Harajuku to the history museum. By the evening, I stopped at a McDonaldâs just to sit for a while and get off of my feet.Â
On Top of the World
We spent the night in Hakone.Â
This was from the Kamakura Shrine. A Japanese wedding procession even went by, reminding me of the Samurai Jack series finale.Â
Norio was full of surprises, one of them being a surprise mini-hike to Mt. Fuji.Â
That was fun. Granted Iâm out of shape and couldnât keep up with the group. I lingered near some sheds trying to get a selfie with the mountain behind me, urging the other students who stayed behind to start descending to the bus stop when it was time to leave. Stick to the edge of the trails. One, the center is for the gods and spirits only and two, thereâs tiny fish aquarium-like granules in the center and more firm ground on the edge of the trail.Â
Then there was the hotel. I think this was my favorite day in the entire trip. Our guide was very considerate about letting participate in Japanese customs and culture. You read a lot of books, watch TV shows about Japan, etc., but the real reason to go on these tours...live it.Â
Norio gave us the rundown on the onsen. Our hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean had a rooftop hot pool and he told us how to soak Japanese style (wear a yukata, and get in the water naked). I grabbed a yukata from the front desk and went to soak with Mel, an art teacher from Oregon. They arranged timetables so there would be an adults only time and a students only time. We got first soak before dinner. Iâve been to hot spring pools in Truth or Consequences, NM so the nudity thing didnât weird me out much. Some of the NM pools have private pools where you either soak naked or with a swimsuit, and depending on my company, it can go wither way. But the public pools donât allow nudity. So Mel and I soaked. Then I found a door leading outside and ventured out of the pool area finding a secret pool outside on the rooftop overlooking the Pacific Ocean. At that point, I felt like that guy from Titanic. It was invigorating standing up naked on the roof of a Japanese hotel, letting a light breeze graze over me as I watched the ocean.Â
That was dinner. The guide even procured sake for the adults.Â
Kyoto Stray
The next day we concluded our Hakone tour before boarding a Shinkansen to Kyoto. We didnât know about the Kyoto earthquake until Norio received a call from the tour company asking if things were all right. I was a bit worried when Norio said our train was delayed due to the quake. I was already envisioning the group camping out in the station overnight waiting for a train. But our guide came through and got us on a late train, though most if us sat in the smoking car. Our guide was stressed out. He might not have shown it in his facial features or gestures, but I saw him sit with a guide from another group, both men drinking beers and lighting up as we rode out of Hakone. You do what you have to do, right?Â
On the second day, things werenât going too well. I had dropped an ice cream cone seconds after buying it (and I wanted something cold and sweet). IÂ couldnât really meditate on the Path of Contemplation because I was wondering if I was going the right way.Â
The real kicker was getting separated from the group near dinnertime. We had stopped in a shopping arcade and I was not sure how to ask for a custom seal (stamp) in a shop so I dawdled a bit. The stamp would take twenty minutes to carve...plus I bought a weird stamp with a guy poking his head from underneath his ass for a co worker of mine, and a case for my own seal.Â
I met up with some students from our group and one girl was having trouble buying a shiba inu doll from an inu cafe storefront. I loaned her some money, but in that time, our group was leaving for dinner. I told our sponsor to wait so i could pick up my stamps, but when I left the shop, the group was gone. And I didn't have cell phone service so I couldnât get texts on where to go.Â
I went to Starbucks for help, and the clerk pulled out a map suggesting that I go to the metro to get back to the hotel by Kyoto Tower. But I couldn't make heads or tails on which train to board or even how to buy a ticket for that matter. I walked along the underground for a couple of hours, studying the metro maps on the wall, but none had directions on getting to Kyoto Tower. I decided to return to the streets and get a cab. I felt like that guy from Shanghai Calling. (The part where Daniel Henneyâs character hails a cab to his office and the cabbie tries to tell him itâs nearby, but at Henneyâs persistence, ends up driving five feet away before showing him the office). With my luck, the hotel would be two minutes away.Â
It was a fifteen minute drive. I paid the cabbie thanking him profusely. Iâve never been stranded like that without cell service to use Apple or Google maps, and I was afraid of missing my ride to Hiroshima in the morning. I was already envisioning myself walking all over Kyoto until daybreak. The stress killed my appetite; I went into a Lawsonâs store but ended up replacing my food on the shelves and returned to the hotel to soak for half an hour in the tub before crawling under the comforter. I didnât want to leave the room. I was also dreading getting a tongue lashing from Norio about time management and keeping up with the tour. If he was upset, he didn't show it. I never got chewed out.Â
Itâs late. Iâll continue with Hiroshima later.Â

âïž KTown Night Market in LA âïž
This is so long; I didn't think it was going to be this long. So sorry.
I went to the KTown Night Market in LA on Saturday, and I wanted to write about it because it was really an enjoyable experience. So the KTown Night Market is a event in Koreatown that happens every summer. I don't know how long the people who organize the event have been doing it (this was my second time going), but it's just one of the night markets that occur during the summer in Southern California. The KTown Night Market happens over the course of two days (Friday and Saturday, and it runs from 5pm-11pm on Friday/2pm-11pm on Saturday. They also have an after party thing, but I don't go to those because I'm not really a club kind of person. Anyways the KTNM showcases different clothing brands, jewelery, cosmetics, food, drinks, games, music (all predominantly Korean, but Asian in general). It's pretty cool. I originally wanted to attend on Friday because Enik's band Fyke was going to be playing as well as BeWhy, but my family wanted to celebrate Father's Day on Friday so Saturday was the only day I could go.
So Saturday rolled around, and for some reason whoever controls the weather decided it would be a fine and dandy idea to MAKE IT HOT AS HELL SO EARLY IN THE MORNING. Anyways, once my friend Irene showed up at my house we left to take the metro to LA. The train ride was long, but it didn't feel that way. Once we finally got off the metro we had to walk a couple of blocks to the school where the night market was being held. I was sweating by the time we got there; it was kinda terrible. So we arrived at like 2:40 or so. We had to show the staff our tickets and get our bags checked by security before we could go into the school grounds. [Aside: the guys checking the tickets were very cute haha.] Once we walked through that and the school gates, there were girls standing with boxes of coconut chips, and they handed Irene and me two bags each. At the entrance (this sort of upward slope that led to the school and their field), there were a couple of tents; one tent was to purchase the admission tickets for the people who hadn't gotten them online. Another was actually a table filled with little cardstock flyers for G Dragon's upcoming MOTTE tour in the States. Next to the table was this huge photo op screen thing with GD's face on in in red, white and black. Next to that area was a couple of tents that were for a tutoring service, fruit snacks, and something else I can't remember. As we walked up, there were people handing out candies and flyers for stuff. The candies were good.
Once we got up the ramp to the right of us was an open area filled with about nine or ten food trucks; there was Japanese food, Korean food, churros, and some other food stuff. We decided that we weren't going to check those out yet, so I showed Irene the other side of the KTNM set up. That area had food/drink tents, clothing/cosmetics tents, carnival games, the main stage, eating area, porta-potties, a Toyota tent, and an area that was later going to be used for the SLam Dunk Contest. Also because we got there at like 2:40, some of the vendors were still setting up their booths, so we didn't get to see some of the tents until later. We walked up and down the tents that were already set up, and they were pretty cool. There were a couple of clothing ones that had some nice clothes, and I wish I could remember the brands because there was one tent that had a pink shirt with the word 'crybaby' written on the left chest area in red cursive font. I really wanted to buy it, but then I said I would come back for it ( I never did, and I'm kinda bummed about it). Then were were some jewlery tents. One of the tents was handing out samples of a ginseng energy drink, and they gave Irene and me a bottle. I thought I wouldn't like it, but it was pretty good; it also lasted me the rest of the time we were there. We passed a couple of tents that were not set up, and then I saw the Choice Music tent. Choice Music is one of the two K-Pop stores in LA, and they're always so chill with their customers; I love going to their store, and I was super glad they were there. Shout out the Choice Gang! Anyways, I basically beelined my way there because I had been wanting to buy VIXX's album, but then I was bummed because they didn't have that album (Choice Music why'd you let me down like that?? I trusted you! I'm kidding though, they always come through.) The girl at the tent let me know that the album was available at the store and they only had brought the VIXX lightstick with them. We moved on from that tent to the cosmetics tents next to Choice Music's tent. TONY MOLY had a good set up, and the girls running the tent were so nice! We had been struggling to open the ginseng drinks, and one of the girls in the tent opened it for us! They also showed us this peach hand lotion that I wanted to buy ( I wanted to buy like 98% of the stuff there. Let's be real about it). I didn't end up buying it either.
We moved on to the food tents, but, just as we turned the corner to go to those tents, I saw the KORELIMITED tent. Now I had entered a contest to win a set of limited edition pins that they made in collaboration with the KTNM; it was a South Korean flag pin and a small rectangle pin that had 'KTOWN' on it; that KTOWN pin also glows in the dark. I didn't win the contest, but I really wanted those pins, so once I saw the tent I was crossing my fingers that they hadn't sold out the night before. THANKFULLY they still had some left, so I bought a set. They're so nice and are now pinned to my backpack! After that Irene and I went to the food stands. I decided to make Irene try Tteokbokki/Spicy Rice Cakes, so we bought that and some drinks and went to go sit in the eating area. It was a bunch of tables under a tarpe, and the main stage was facing it. We sat all the way in the back because most of the tables were full already. The wasn't anything going on at the stage during that time, so we just ate the food and chilled. The rice cakes were so delicious and spicy (my mouth is watering just thinking about it), and the ladies in the tent put a lot of sauce in the container so that made them even better. The only thing with the spicy rice cakes is that they also come with fish cake, and both Irene and I don't like fish, so we ate everything but the fish cake. As we were eating, Victoria Loi (she was the MC for both nights along with Insoo Choi) came up to the stage and announced that they were going to start the performances. A couple minutes passed before a guy came up on stage. His name was Leo Xia, and he was really amazing. Like he came up on the stage with his guitar and just shredded for a bit to test out the sound I think, but once he started singing OH MY GOD. His voice was just so wonderful. It reminded me of the singers you would hear in a coffee shop: slightly raspy but soothing sort of voice. He sang/rapped a song off of his upcoming EP Hyphenated; he killed it. The lyrics were also pretty cool because they were about his experience as an Asian and as a person who lived in Beijing for a large part of his life before returning to the U.S. Once he finished that song, he spoke a bit about the stuff mentioned above and then asked if anyone loved memes. Me being the idiot I am, shot my hand up in the air along with a couple other people. He then sang the 'Apple Pen' song. That was interesting. Nice, but interesting. Once he finished that song he asked people to give him three words; using those three words, Leo was going to try to make up a song on the spot. Someone shouted out bulgogi. Then someone else said kimchi. The last thing was break-ups. So he began singing about how he was with his significant other and they didn't want bulgogi they wanted tacos, and the whole song he sang about tacos and bulgogi because he had forgotten that he was supposed to be singing about kimchi. It was a funny song, overall. Irene and I left after that song to go explore more of the food tents because we had only gone to the one stand before.
THERE WAS SO MUCH FOOD. I WANTED TO BUY IT ALL, BUT MONEY. They had food tents with Korean dumplings, the spicy rice cakes, popcorn chicken, seafood skewers, gimbap, tacos, ramen, those ice-cream ball things that make you look like you're a dragon or possibly a brewing cauldron. Also almost every tent sold boba drinks; I was in heaven haha. Irene was going to buy something, but then we decided to check out the food trucks before we chose anything. By this time, there were way more people wandering about. Irene ended up buying a boba drink from the first food truck that sold it (she was super thirsty at this point, so I don't blame her). She wanted to take some pictures, so we took photos (I took photos of her actually) against a grey wall by the trash cans (so classy haha). Then we went back to the other food tents because I wanted a drink from one of those tents. We ended up watching some guys practice dunking on the small court there in prep for the Slam Dunk Contest later in the evening. We stood there for maybe five minutes before we moved to the food tents. We came across these two tents that sold drinks in really cool containters. One had different kind of drinks in glass grenade containters, and the other one placed drinks in plastic lightbulb looking containters. Since the place with the lightbulb drink offered a combo with popcorn chicken and I was hungry, I bought my drink from there. Then, because we are millenials and this is the type of stuff we do, we went to take pictures of our stuff. There were a couple of photo "walls" that the KTNM had set up around the field. I say "walls" because they were those banner things with trendy patterns and logos etc. So we took pictures at those ( I took pictures of Irene and made her hold my food so I could take pictures of it). Then we went back to the eating area, but since more people has shown up, there were no seats. We ended up going to this quad area of the school. It was across the entrance of the KTNM and behind a flower shop's tent and the information tent (which was handing out Pocky that I forgot to snag/ I forgot to get a lot of things that day). We sat on these stone benches in the shade and eat (this was good because the Sun was out in FULl FORCE TRYING TO SCORCH US ALIVE). There were other people there as well just chilling and eating. We took a couple more pictures there and just hung out while we ate. From the area we were at we could hear the music they were playing from the main stage ( it was always either a Big Bang song or a GD song). A couple minutes later they started some sort of competiton, but, since we weren't near the stage, I don't know what it was of. The KTNM is cool, but we had been there since two (and it was around six or so), and Irene had to be back at her house by 8, so after eating the popcorn chicken we decided it was time to head back home. We did though take a quick detour to take some more pictures, and to stop by the music store so that I could buy Shangri-La and another Suho SUM pin. THEN we went home.
Overall, the KTown Night Market is so much fun, and it's such a great event. It's a good place to try out new and delicious foods/drinks, listen to some amazing music, shop for clothes, cosmetics, etc, and just have a good time. I really love going because I rarely go out during the summer, and this is just one of those events that's super chill and enjoyable to attend. It really is worth going to; you don't have to stay there the whole time, if you don't want to, you can come and go, and it's a two day event, so if you can't go one day,go the other day. I had such a good time last Saturday, and I honestly look forward to going to other night markets, if I can. Thanks to all of the people involved in organizing the event; it was such a blast! If anyone read up to this point, you're a trooper! I hope you enjoyed reading!
#ktnm#ktownnightmarket#i finally got around to wrapping this up#why is it so long??#idk#but yeah if you read it you deserve all the gold stars !!!#âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž#i didn't proofread this either so excuse any mistakes
