Just wrote a Sumeru boys request and when I saw there was another one I got so excited!! AHH I LOVE CUDDLY READER!! Thank you for this request and I hope you enjoy <3
─⊰⊹ฺ❄️𝔾𝕖𝕟𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟 ℍ𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕔𝕒𝕟𝕠𝕟𝕤⊰⊹ฺ❄️
Tumblr media
{༻~Cuddles, snuggles and warm bundles~༺}
CW: GN! Reader, fluffy cuddles with the Sumeru boys!!
(Includes: Tighnari, Kaveh, Alhaitham, Wanderer, and Cyno!)
Tumblr media
𑁍༄Tighnari:
You pulled the blanket around you tighter, the chill of the morning making you want to stay in bed and cuddle with Tighnari all day, feeling his fluffy tail wrapped around you and his arms sleepy holding you against him. Maybe he felt the same way you did, or maybe you both were so comfortable that any other plans no longer mattered, but neither of you ended up moving even after a couple hours.
Even after he fully woke up and just watched you with this dreamy gaze, even after you talked for hours about everything going on in your life that you hadn't gotten to tell him about, even after the two of you started getting hungry. It was just...so unlike either of you to stay in bed and just, enjoy eachothers company. Forget about work and the things that make the days hurry by.
"Hey Tighnari, can we snuggle like this more often? Just take a break and catch up until we physically have to get out of bed..."
"I love that idea. I think, this may be one of my new favourite things to do"
𑁍༄Kaveh:
You watched Kaveh as he sketched out a entire new layout for the design he'd been stuck on for hours now. This one really seemed to be getting to him and even with all the help you could give, he just wasn't having a good time, he seemed stretched thin...creativity all but gone. "Kaveh, why don't you take a break hmm? We can cuddle for a little and give your mind a rest?"
He sighed in defeat and nodded, smiling as you curled under his arm, using his side as a pillow, "I'm not sure why this idea is so difficult for me to get a grasp on...it's just supposed to be a comfy look, but none of what I had in mind originally really fits what I'm going for." He kissed the top of your head as you listened to his troubles, you wished you could do more for him but you didn't really know how to design anything..,"Well, hmm. When do you feel the comfiest Kaveh?"
"When I'm with you. Oh, my gosh that's it!" He quickly grabbed his sketch pad, his pencil drawing cushions and hidden heart shaped motifs into the design...unaware he'd left you with a goofy smile and a dark blush. Maybe you were more help than you thought.
𑁍༄Alhaitham:
You placed a kiss on Alhaithams neck, feeling sleepy after cuddling with him for so long. Usually he'd have work or other things to attend to, but today, today was his day with you and that meant sitting there reading as you snuggled up to him. The room nice and warm, his arms tightly holding you in place and the gentle sound of the page flipping ever so often...maybe others would find it strange to be so quiet, awkward even, but to you two it was like a comforting silence. A time to unwind and not hear the constant chatter of others or things moving, nothing but the two of you enjoying eachothers presence.
His chin gently rested on your head and you smiled, finally letting your heavy eyelids close and nod off to sleep. You wouldn't even wake up when he carried you to bed, but the next morning would feel like a breeze, like all your stressed had just...melted away.
𑁍༄Wanderer:
Wanderer grunted as you climbed into his lap, your head resting on his chest and his arms holding you tight so you wouldn't fall. To think you'd ask for such a silly thing...to cuddle in a tree, was it something you'd seen in a romance book or dreamed of? He didn't know...he didn't even know why he'd actually agreed to it...until you were resting in his embrace, the soft flutter of leaves all around you and the branches hiding you from the rest of the world.
"It's nice isn't it Wanderer..."
"Tsk...I guess so." He hid his face in your hair, thinking about you and your wild imagination, he silently thanked you for showing him this type of love. He never thought he'd enjoy it as much as he truly did.
𑁍༄Cyno:
You smiled as Cyno kissed your cheek from behind, his hands intertwined with yours and your back resting against his chest. You wouldn't say it out loud yet, but cuddling with him were your favourite moments. Whenever he pulled you close, wether it be after he's just won a tcg game against one of his friends or after he's had a long day and just needs to hold you for comfort, you loved it.
"You okay Cyno?"
"Yes, just a had a long day and wished to be close to you..."
"Ah, well I'm here. How about I tell you a couple jokes I heard today, they made me think of you." You tilted your head back slightly so you could see his reaction and the smallest bit of a smile had already started to form. "Tell me."
"Why did the invisible man turn down the job offer?"
"Hmm why?"
"He couldn't see himself doing it." You blushed as he laughed happily, finding the joke far funnier than it actually was.

so when building the Racer family home in TS2, I keep coming back to the fact that I have no idea where the bedrooms (besides Speed's) are supposed to go, and this has been an issue! so I uhh. did something.
I broke down and requested a cameo vid from Paulie Litt (who played Spritle in Speed Racer), asking him if he knew where the bedrooms were supposed to be. xD
but ofc I figured there's a chance he wouldn't! I mean, I knew the set probably didn't connect in a way that showed where Spritle's room was, and even if it did, he was...thirteen? I think? when that movie was filmed? so there's no guarantee he'd even remember.
but still! I figured I'd try, so here's the message I sent with the request:
I'm making a model of the Racer house, and I can't figure out where the bedrooms are. Do you happen to remember how the house set layout worked? If not, alt question: was Spritle flipping off Royalton improv'd by you? (bc it's not in the script.) ty!
(it's really hard to write things and stick within the 250 character limit)
and today, the request was fulfilled! so here's this!
(tl;dw - he didn't know anything else about the layout of the house because the set didn't go that far, but he did tell the story about how the Wachowskis directed him to flip off Royalton!)
so even though I didn't gain any new knowledge about the Racer house, I did learn something else! and it's great that it was the Wachowskis who (last-minute) told him to flip off Royalton xD

No because this hit me randomly while trying to complete my assignments and I wanna get out as much as I can before it disappears into the "I really should've written that down void"
Jason Todd x Reader
Duke Thomas x Reader
TO THE PEOPLE WHO DID PUT IN ASKS, THEY'LL BE DONE AND POSTED AS SOON AS I SUBMIT(hopefully tomorrow, Sunday, midday latest) Y'all put in some good shit for me to write and I actually wanna get it out proper instead of just drabbling it out in a rush - unless that's what you want
ANYWAYS BACK TO MY THOTS - well more like the one’s reader gone be looking into >:]
SUGGESTIVE = +18, MDNI
Word Count: IDK,,,just words enough to try and clear this out my system
Didn't have a set gender in mind so it can be Female/Male/Gender Neutral,,however you choose to perceive it.
For as long as you can remember, you have always been able to read people’s thoughts and feelings. Heck if you focused with little effort on a person you’d be able to see into their minds and get an exact picture of what was in there.
That little what you called a cheat is what helped you become one of the best Interior Designers in Gotham. You were able to get exactly what a client wanted and they absolutely loved you for that, not knowing any better of course.
Of course with such rising popularity the Wayne Family had to have to redesign a few spaces for them, be it at the Manor, Tower or any holiday homes that they felt needed a change.
With your budding romance towards a specific family member comes very specific thoughts and crafted images every time you seem to be alone together.
JASON
Why would you be seeing the kitchen? As you kept focused on what seemed to be a memory from when Bruce had hired you to work on the kitchen with Alfred taking the lead on the project as it was his space more than anyone else's. It seemed he remembered the exact outfit you had on that day too. A simple beige tee tucked in baggy pale blue jeans and grey converses to finish the look. Put together but not too stuffy. You stood right by the island with a pencil between your teeth and a large sheet of paper laid out in front of you. You had been looing at the most recent layout of the kitchen to give you an idea of how to play around with how everything was set. Alfred from the looks of things wanted it to be more effective but gain a more polished look.
Jason's obsession with literature was no secret to anybody who lived in the Manor so it was no surprise when he had called you in to take a look at the ever aging library. After seeing how you had set the kitchen per Alfred's request he was eager to have you work on it.
You had come in on day one wearing your beige blouse jumpsuit to discuss and get a general idea of what he wanted to get done. The mention of trying to fit more books in didn't sound as impossible as he had hoped. It was just a matter of using the pre-exisiting infrastructure to your advantage while adding new bits and bobs to reach the idea he had in mind.
On day two you had brought in your iPad and pencil to scribble some potential sketches that you were sure Jason would love from what you looked into the day before. With him now browsing at the layout options, you were sat across from him on a what had to be a Baltimora Bespoke Rococo sofa in a pale yellow eyeing his every move. He was very good looking, the white streak in his black hair brought out the evergreen in his eyes that shone a dark blue when the light hit them right. Build quite big and towering compared to you, it was a little daunting yet alluring when he looked down on you with a slight tilt of his head however sitting down even though he did still surpass you in height you would be able to maintain eye contact without feeling a type of way. He seemed to be taking his time with his choice so a little peak into his mind wouldn't be a bother.
The kitchen?
With your mind somewhere else you had not noticed him coming into the kitchen until he had made his way behind you to get to the fridge, leaving out a barely audible excuse me.
His failed attempt at pardoning himself had caused you to turn right as he tried to get past you. A trip in your feet at both shock of someone else being in the kitchen and bumping into them almost caused you to fall.
Jason had caught you right by your waist, grip tight and pulling you close to try and keep you both steady. You hands crunching up into the front of his shirt as this was the first thing you had grabbed. He at that moment was trying to calm his breathe as he was sure with how close your hands were to his chest that you could feel his increasing heartbeat. He'd seen you before on magazines and interviews, a few times around the Manor too but this was the first time he was able to meet you in person. Much less this up close. You were quite attractive and that didn't make this situation any better. You had looked up in that moment and by the widening of your eyes it seemed as if you had just understood who exactly you bumped into.
What felt like minutes on the day, moved by within seconds of you two removing each other from the other from the looks of the memory. Your hands sliding down his chest swiftly while his had taken a rather unhurried path to your waist before letting go completely.
You remember that day very well. You were too flustered by everything that you never ever tried to look into what he thought of the entire thing before apologising and resuming what you were planning on doing.
As much as you remember the memory stopped there, but his didn't?
He put in something.
Instead of his hands fully leaving your hips he had used his grip to pull you closer to his heating body. A small gasp escaping your lips at the surprise of the action.
He walked you backwards towards the island making sure you didn't hit the edge harshly. Before bringing up his right hand to place right by your throat keeping his eyes on yours. The gap closing between the two of you before lips met right in the middle. A kiss one that was filled with curiosity and excitement dragged on in his mind.
His hands coming to lift you so that you were sat on the counter, the perfect height for him to lean his hips into your open legs properly.
He let out a small grunt of the word, "Fuck."
You let out a small whimper before pulling away from the memory completely. Wanting to focus on the current moment.
"Everything alright?" Jason asked in a worried tone at the sudden sound.
"Dandy." You gave a small smile trying to brush off what you just saw.
DUKE
You and Duke got along. A little too well one would say. After meeting at a gala Bruce had hired you to furnish which lead to an invitation to the event, you had gotten closer each day.
Duke enjoyed the conversations he had with you about anything and nothing whereas you enjoyed the change of pace of things. It all felt nice and mundane outside of being able to read people's minds and being a vigilante.
Your most favourite things to do was watch cringe level rom-coms. What was better than being able to sit in front of the in-house theater with all your favourite snacks and foods, a blanket and pillows that created a plush nest of sorts for you too. Every Tuesday night, as random as the day seemed it worked perfectly. Dick was on night shift, Tim barely left the office on weekends much less weekdays and nights, Damian was always quick to disappear to the Batcave (Duke would just say he was in "bed") Bruce would end up holed in his study with lord knows what, Jason hadn't been home in 4 months after deciding he needed his own space and going back to his apartment and Alfred always excused himself early on Tuesday as it was never really busy around then.
Tuesday nights were always just perfect for you two. A nice time to just feel second-hand embarrassment together from what the characters did on screen.
However today was not the same as any other day. A new movie was released on Netflix the Sunday before so naturally you and Duke had decided to set it to the following Tuesday's movie night. Neither of you had bothered to look at the trailer believing in the skimmed over reviews and it being labelled a rom-com. What more did you expect but something to crunch your face over.
You had come in with your summer pjs as the weather was warming up and made your way to the theater, ready to help Duke set things up. He had already laid out his half of things while you proceeded to give him a quick greeting and putting everything you brought with yourself down.
Once all was set and the lights were turned off, you began the movie.
Nothing seemed out of place, it followed a typical girl who needed to move back to her hometown for reasons that always had to do with a job. As she gets back she reconnects with old friends, crushes and flings.
You and Duke share laughs at the obvious plot and proceed to make bets on who the end-goal love interest would be in this one. Would it be the guy she had a crush on in first grade? Or her male best friend that had the biggest crush on her her entirety of high school but never confessed? Or would it be the bad boy she had lost her virginity to on Prom Night as an impromptu thing as she didn't want to leave high school a virgin.
As fun as placing the bets was with the promise of pizza as the prize, nothing could have prepared you two for what you were about to witness.
Right on screen as the female lead and one of the potential love interests shared a kiss, it seemed to get heated?
A lot more heated than a standard rom-com would allow actually. And were they taking off their clothes?
What was the rating on this again?
It had to be +18NL with how things were playing out. Quite explicit too.
Removing your eyes from the screen to glance at Duke, you notice how he doesn't seem to budge. Eyes glued and focused as he gulps down the saliva building up on his tongue.
Curious to what his thoughts were on the unexpected sex scene that they were experiencing for the first time together, you were taken aback.
From what you could make out you were right under Duke, both of you bare chested like the characters on the screen, both of you breathing out heavily like the characters on the screen, both of you closing the gap like the characters on the screen. It's when the point of view changes to Duke's perspective of things that you realise he's projecting you both on what you're both watching.
Duke inches down your body maintaining eye contact as he gets to your covered bottom. Eyes flicking down to the material before looking back up at you as if begging to remove them. You give him a nod and he eagerly give a quick kiss through them before yanking them off hurriedly so. Duke gulps again both on in his projection and in person before going all in tasting every inch of you.
Your eyes move to watch the screen and not him and as it was all playing out in his head there the two characters were getting it on exactly as he projected it.
Grabbing for the remote, you pause it.
"I think we need a break from that, no?" You suggest feeling flustered thanking every being out there that allowed you to be in such a dark room at this moment.
Duke was a very good looking guy, his personality made him a solid catch too. But it was another thing to tell the guy you've been chilling with casually as friends that you felt heated from his thoughts and would be more than willing to play it out right there in the theater.
Duke gulped for a third time before nodding and agreeing.
Maybe on another time would you initiate something, just in the privacy of your home lounge this time.

New semester and new classes. New subjects and new topics. New seating and new bench partners.
Your first science class of the year was both exciting and dreadful. It's fun to see who your new teacher and classmates are but the subject itself is always difficult to grasp. Walking into the classroom, you find a simplistic layout of the classroom and its tables on the board with the names of each student lined up to each table. You find your name, translate that to the real life classroom and take a brief look at who your seating partner is.
"Yeji..." You whisper quietly to yourself. One of the students that most people know the name of but don't know the face that applies to it. You recognise the name but still have no clue as to who it is you're expecting, other than you know you're looking for a girl. You dismiss the thoughts and move out the way of the board to find your seat.
Unlike normal, your head stays upright staring at the classroom. Watching each person as they leave the board and trudge towards their new seat, looking out for the one who'll sit next to you. Next up at the board is a small framed girl with glasses and brown hair holding a few notebooks up to her chest. She takes one look at the board before immediately landing her eyes on you.
You sit somewhat stunned as she beams you a beautiful smile and happily walks over to the empty spot next to you. "You must be Y/n?" She says as she places her books on the table and her bag underneath. This girl is an alpha!? you think to yourself. The scent is un-mistakable but her shy dimenor throws you off that scent. Your breath hitches in your throat for a second before snapping out of it with a light cough. "And you must be Yeji!" You gladly respond while offering your hand to shake.
----
The class had begun 10 minutes ago and you're already struggling. Things tend to take a little longer for you to process so all the math-like problems and note taking takes longer for you than most. On top of that, the teacher going through things at Eminem speed was not helping. Thankfully, the teacher stopped talking shortly after and gave all the students space to solve some questions on their own. It gave you a chance to catch up on the note taking.
"Need help?" The whisper in your ear startled you a little and Yeji, the owner of the voice, began giggling slightly at your adorableness. "Eeehhh-..." Looking back at your notebook, you're a little too shy to admit you do in fact need that help and the only noise that comes out is a strange groan like sound.
Yeji ended your suffering and created an entirely new suffering by pulling her chair just a little closer to yours and leaning over to help you. "To balance an equation you need the same amount of atoms on each side of the equation." Yeji begins gently explaining each and every step much slower than the teacher did and you almost understand it.... but it's very difficult to concentrate when you have a really cute alpha practically wrapping her arms round you.
"See, that means you now have 5 hydrogen atoms on each side BUT it also means you've up the carbon atoms on the left side. So in fixing the hydrogen atoms you've ruined the carbon at-....o..ms....." A blush crawls across Yeji's face as she notices the already deep blush on yours and she finally registers just how close you both are. "OhmygodOhmygadOhmygod- I'm so sorry for that I didn't think. I didn't reali-"
"It's ok." Yeji had jerked herself away from you and back into her space after noticing the little distance and began apologising profusely before you cut her off. "I'm actually starting to understand this whole balancing equations thing now so thank you." You give her a genuinely happy smile but you're still a little to shy to turn and show her. So instead your book receives it.
You never were to keen on science classes.... but you could get used to this one.

Hi !! I’m binge reading all your writing rn and I’m still looking obsessed <3 I’d love to request any of the crows x a reader who’s an identical twin, their twin is very outgoing and knows the crows well as they’ve worked together for heists and such but the reader is basically the opposite, they’re on the quieter side and prefer literature and baking to whatever the crows are getting up to. When they meet the crows they’re mistaken as their twin, maybe because their twin asked them to help on a job without informing the crows? Anyway I don’t really have a preference for what type of writing this is or the crows it’s for ^^ thank you :D 👾
The Librarian-platonic! crows x gn! reader
Hi! I'm so sorry that this took me a while--my tumblr inbox is being glitchy and weird atm and requests have been disappearing and reappearing at random so I caught this in my inbox while I was lucky.
As the title indicates, I added one thing! The reader is a librarian because I was like "they gotta have a job. They like to read, librarian it is" and I hope that you're okay with that!
Generally though, thank you for sending this in, this concept was a lot of fun and definitely a good way to try to get myself used to writing requests frequently again after several months of near-burnout and demotivation.
Fic type- this one is literally just fluff
Warnings- mentions of murder (generally), mentions of murder by thwack of thick book to ones head, and theres an allusion to body parts being cut up and put into a box, then leaving that box to float to the bottom of the ocean (Jesper refers to it as slice and dice, and I promise it's less graphic than it seems)
You didn't know why you'd agreed to help your twin. You were their opposite--they were all about the life of crime that most Barrel residents lived, where you were content to work at the library you'd been working at since you were seventeen and sell your baked goods at the market stalls on the weekends.
You did not like the Barrel at all.
You resented how easy it was to find yourself a victim of pickpocketing whenever you wandered into a gambling den on that side of town or even just while you walked through the streets.
You much preferred your apartment and the smell of fresh cinnamon buns to the vague smell of swamp mingling with gasoline and peoples loud, rowdy ways as they ambled from one gambling den to the next. You hated the idea of all of it--why dress in your finest if you're intending to go gamble, when there's always a chance that you'll lose everything you gave, and lose more than that when your aim had been to win it all back after the initial loss?
But still, agreeing to help your twin was a commitment you'd made. You had the layout of a library with something valuable and had agreed to go to the Slat to draw up a sketch, but the hand on your shoulder stopped you in your tracks.
You proceeded into the Slat--the building your twin had said to meet up in--and sat at a table after grabbing yourself a brandy. Like they were being brought to you by some kind of gravitational pull, a tall Fjerdan and the girl he had on his arm walked up to you.
"Y/T/N?" the girl asked. "You've just left the Slat for breakfast. Did you change your mind?"
You blinked, confusedly. "I'm not--"
Another girl spoke up from behind you, and the sound of her voice startled you just enough to make you flinch.
Where had she come from? Was she the kind of person who could steal peoples secrets from the shadows? Was she a spider who hid in the dark corners where people were too oblivious to look, taking their conversations back to the infamous Kaz Brekker in the aim to turn over a profit?
"Not Y/T/N," she said. "Their twin."
A gray eyed boy with guns on his hips approached next, arm lazily draped over a boy with dark red hair and eyes that made him resemble something of a deer when startled.
"What are you doing in the Barrel?" He asked. "Your twin says that you tend to keep to your routine. Working at the library in the Financial District during the day, spending your friday nights baking so that you can sell your goods at the market stalls. You're not the type to come round here."
"They wanted to meet with me," you said. "There's a library out in the countryside that's become a tourist attraction since the Merchant Council actually put effort into proper marketing for it? I've visited every other weekend since it opened. They said that they need me to sketch the layout in the absence of a blueprint, which I know for a fact was destroyed in case anyone tried to steal it to figure out the best entrance and exit points. Did they not tell you they asked me for help?"
"What's your cut of the final profit?" You didn't have to know that voice to recognize it. It was Kaz Brekker, the most infamous criminal in all of Ketterdam, the only person who'd scared Pekka Rollins away from anything, even if the thing he'd scared Rollins away from had been his own criminal empire.
"Can I ask you what all of your names are first? Despite how much my twin talks about you, I don't know your faces, even if there's a near guaranteed chance that I know your names."
"Inej," said the girl who'd snuck up on you. "Inej Ghafa. The boy with the guns is Jesper, the doe eyed one is Wylan. Matthias is the big, blond, brooding yellow tulip who's glowering at you right now, and the beautiful girl on his arm is Nina. I'm sure you know who Kaz is?"
"Too well," you said. "How's the leg?"
Kaz smirked as the crew began to pull up chairs, where he took the spot to your right.
"It could be better than it is now, but it's not as bad as it is in winter. Your cut of the money?"
"They promised to give me 40 percent of their share if I sketched out the layout," you said. "You're being paid twelve million for this. I get just less than one million after the math is said and done."
"In the interest of paying the reason that we get this heist right as rain with minimal issue fairly, what is twelve million through eight?" Kaz asked the group that'd formed around the table whilst you'd been too focused on taking a sip of your brandy to notice.
"1.5 million," Wylan answered within seconds. "Cuts two million off each of our paychecks."
"Well, if Y/N is decent for a blueprint sketch, I'm sure you be too busy with the knowledge that you still have your lives, the clothes on your backs and the homes to which you'll go to notice the half a million you would've missed out on."
Jesper grinned at you. "He's terrifying," he said. "But, in the end, fairness in terms of these things is important to him. He's greed incarnate but he doesn't take well to enemies, so he's making sure your twin doesn't rip you off."
"A baker-slash-librarian and literature fanatic is hardly an enemy," Nina interjected.
"They've got books as tall as the length from my wrist to the bend in my elbow in some libraries," Jesper said. "They hit Kaz with one of those while he's not expecting it, he goes down quick. His death can be made even quicker, provided they use chocolate chunks--which require chopping on a cutting board--in their baking. Slice and dice, ship him to the bottom of the ocean in a box that's two feet tall and one foot wide, and all evidence of their having murdered the Bastard of the Barrel is gone."
"Killing Kaz Brekker is not in my interest," you said. "Not at all. Matter of fact, just sketching this is, and even then, the money is the only reason I'm here. I mean this respectfully, but I miss home. I miss the comfort of my bed and being able to enjoy a fine Wednesday morning without worrying about losing a twenty kruge bill while I walk back home."
"Y/T/N said you were aloof," Nina commended. "Like Matthias. Do we have a liar in our midst?"
"No," you said. "Though I wouldn't say aloof is the right word. I would say quiet, reserved, and uninterested in crime are the right ones, but you've caught me in a moment of sass. Let me switch the brandy for wine and I'll get angsty instead."
Jesper barked a laugh, Wylan, Inej, and Nina grinned. Kaz smirked, and you saw a glint of horror pass through Matthias' gaze. It made you laugh.
"Relax, Matthias," you said. "Want me happy, I'll take a glass of kvas or some gin."
You saw his expression relax, and just shook your head. You were in for a hell of a time with that crew, and part of you couldn't wait for it to really begin.

Brick!!! Hi!!!
Can jou believe we're almost in Feb?? Cuz i can't 😂
But anyways, tiny workers au!
I thougjt we go back to the beginning, the golf course part⛳
So!
Is it more like mini golf, with like spinning turbines, different pathways, an artistic look to it? I don't know how the really cool ones overseas look like😂 South Africa s is really boring😅
What to the tinies in general do as part of the golf course? Do they like manually operate certain parts, like bridges or something? Do they cheer the humans on?
Also also, is this the part of the park the main cast met? How did it go? Ohhh are there any human employees beside the boss?
Hope all is well!
GRACIIII HELLO HELLO!!
i know that is just baffling to me sssjjdsjf
ooooo touching the origins!!
hhhh i haven't given thoughts to the layout of the course yet butttt i can! my placeholder for visuals has been the golf courses around me but i don't see that fitting the park SO i will reimagine it,,, but yeah it's more mini-golf with all the cool decorations n shit. maybe like overgrown garden themed? don't rlly know
they can do both! my initial thought was for them to purely be just an additional part to the game, where they could be likee rented or just requested. then they're put in the course to follow alongside the human as they're playing and either (it's up to the tiny) help them by maybe knocking their ball in when the shot is too risky or posing as an obstacle! (the last minigolf game i played was like 2-3 weeks ago and at one of the holes, there was a wheel that you could spin and either get something helpful or non, and i got a thing where someone had to use their body to make an obstacle, so maybe i could use that idea? but generally it's up to the workers)
i also like that idea where they can manually operate things. maybe as an addition to the help-or-don't-help thing, tinies could have the choice of making the specific hole easier by maybe offering a ramp or bumpers or blocking off other obstacles, and depending on the mood of the tiny they'll use that power? oh oh oh and maybe something like those two player obbys where one person presses a button so the other can get across and vise versa 👀 so that way if the tiny really wanted to be a bitch they could just...not help
yes it is! (the main main cast at least) crimebois met there, and dnf met there (as did dteam)! and it's primarily because it's at the front of the park. wilbur we all know did not want to go so he stayed to the front of the park and decided to partake in a short round of minigolf to find that phil & techno had used that rent-a-tiny feature for the course. so now he's stuck with a kid. as for dnf, dream started at the front of the park because he wanted to make sure he got a look at mostly everything. mini-golf was the first thing to catch his eye! while waiting to be assisted, he noticed george in the corner eyeing him, to which dream also eyed him from time to time, and dream was very pleased that when he did say yes to a tiny he got george!
yes there are! i don't know how many i'll actually add, but karl works at the mini-golf place! (i really hope i didn't set him up anywhere else cause oof) i might add some ocs or randos aren't of the dsmp and normal mcyts :D
hope all is well for you too! thank you for the lovely ask as always <3<3

i see your requests are open, so could i request some interactions with [dorm leaders+Lilia] an mc who still has their phone from their world(and working wifi lol), and how they would react to the technology of a different world, and the internet(the memes)
(really love your writing, pls take these hearts <3<3<3)
Tumblr media
hi anon!! thank you so much for the hearts!! i'm so happy you love my writing since i do put a lot of effort into this blog. i'm happy to fulfill this request! it's kind of a shame that mc didn't have their own phone on them (since i presume their homeworld is ours).
MALLEUS DRACONIA
such a device was...curious. because it was kind of like his tamagotchi. but it wasn’t exactly like it. it was a smart phone that he could touch and there was access to wifi.
“is this run by magic?” malleus asks you as he scrolls through the internet.
“no. it’s run by a battery much like your tamagotchi.”
“oh i see...how interesting.” he raised his eyebrows as he looked at an image. “what could this be?”
“okay! that’s enough scrolling time for you. would not wanna radicalize you on reddit.”
LILIA VANROUGE
“malleus would love this!” was his first response when he saw your phone. “he would be into a lot of your human things since he likes the simpler stuff.”
“do you still use this?”
“yeah of course i do.” you answer. “it’s still working. besides it also means i can check up on people in my home world.”
“i see, i see. what’s tik tok?”
“oh it’s a video app.” you wouldn’t expect lilia to be scrolling for hours after that.
RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS
riddle probably had limited access to technology when he was younger. so he didn’t use his normal phone often. seeing your phone was kind of no different aside from all the different apps.
“instagram? is that your version of magicam?”
“yeah it is!” you lean closer as he scrolls through.
“that would be for cater...” he hands you the phone. “cool device. but i think i’ll stick to my own phone.”
“riddle you barely use your own phone.”
VIL SCHOENHEIT
“hmmm...vintage.” he looked at the phone. compared to the other devices, it wasn’t as advanced. it ran a lot slower too. “oh my. youtube?”
“it’s a video sight. they have a lot of videos i think you would like.” you immediately pulled up your beauty playlist.
“huh...my, my, she’s quite beautiful. who is this?” and he pointed to a very familiar face. “and who is this?”
“jackie aina. the best beauty blogger! and that’s james charles. don’t watch any of his videos. i know you would find the way he does makeup atrocious and his voice also atrocious.”
“i will take your word for it.”
LEONA KINGSCHOLAR
there wasn’t much to pique leona’s interest. he’s not too interested in technology, mostly because he’s sleeping more than being online (maybe that’s why his mental health was better than yours since he wasn’t on social media).
but the memes on the other hand? that was something that piqued his interest.
“you like kittens don’t you?” you ask with a smirk on your face.
“i mean...yeah i guess. this orange cat reminds me of cheka.” he gestures to a video of an orange cat...well, being an orange cat.
“sounds like someone has a soft spot for his nephew~” you laughed upon hearing him groan at your response.
AZUL ASHENGROTTO
“i’m very interested in these animal facts. i didn’t know octopi apparently punched fish because they felt like it!” you may have realized introducing azul to netflix was a bad idea. and candy crush. he managed to beat the first 1000 levels within two days.
“a service that has every single movie and tv show on it. i mean we have our own versions but the coral sea doesn’t exactly have internet.” azul was busy taking notes. “though these layouts could be used to improve the current ones.”
“azul stop thinking business. just relax.” you smile.
“well then i guess we can watch some disney+.”
“and this is getting too meta.” you took your phone away.
KALIM AL-ASIM
kalim’s into the memes and the vines. you regret showing him vines especially because now he’s just spouting out famous vines whenever he gets the chance to.
“two bros sitting in a hot tub five feet apart ‘cus they’re not gay!” he sings as he cooks.
“look at all these chickens!” kalim presents the large amount of chicken he made for your visit to scarabia.
“...and they were roommates...” you said.
“they were roommates!” his eyes sparkled.
IDIA SHROUD
honestly, idia could care less about the internet and whatever possibilities it has. because this type of technology doesn’t exist. and much to your disappointment, he takes your phone apart.
“idia! can you put my phone back together and give it back? please!” you whine.
he shoves a flash drive into your hand. “here’s everything from your phone. i think maybe i can incorporate some of this technology into ortho-”
“i don’t think that will work idia.”
“never say never. i can make anything work.”

pairings: bucky x fem!reader
Tumblr media
"I don't know Sharon. Are you sure I'm really the right person for this? I'm not, like, an Avengers level tech. Are you sure they don't want a genius or someone like Stark to do it?"
"Well, Stark is pretty busy right now, and honestly, no one knows psych like you. Not who I've met anyway."
"That is so not true. I'm willing to bet there's tons of other people you guys got somewhere who are ten times what I am."
"Agent (Y/L/N), in case you missed it, SHIELD isn't what it used to be. Sure we have old agents who aren't formally 'SHIELD agents,' anymore, but we don't have the expendability we used to. You're our best bet at the moment."
"Damn. I'm your best bet. I'm sorry," she almost chuckled, but then she thought for a brief moment. "Are you sure this is completely necessary? I mean, I saw the photo on the news. The quality's poor at best, and..."
She leaned in, discretely, and whispered.
"...not to seem like a conspiracy theorist commie or anything, but it kinda seems like people are jumping to conclusions here. Are we even sure it was Barnes who set off the bomb?"
Sharon looked around them, cautiously. No one seemed to be listening, but she scanned the room like her life as she knew it was hanging in the balance. She weighed her words in her head, making sure she picked the right ones, then formulated a response appropriate.
"Regardless of if it was him or not, Barnes still escaped. and before that, Ste-we'd been looking for him for almost two years. This analysis is necessary," Sharon brought her voice down even lower. "At least that's what I keep being told. Of course I'd like there to be more solid proof, but I'm not in charge here. He's gone, and they want to be able to find him and 'sort things out.'"
"'Sort things out,'" (Y/N) repeated, questioning the genuineness of whomever told Sharon that. "Unless they have hard evidence that it was him who set off the bomb in Vienna, shouldn't they leave that to uh...Captain America?"
She wondered how Barnes was able to escape in the first place. She saw the containment module he was in; there's no way he could've gotten out without a fight. ...But maybe it wasn't a fight. Perhaps it was a trigger word induced rage. (Y/N) understood a basic layout of the "Winter Soldier." SHIELD would've kept any information they had classified. However, after the fiasco in Washington, d.c. with Hydra and the whole releasing of all files predicament, she was able, with Sharon's help, to put together a simple outline. With that being said, he couldn't have broken out without going Winter Soldier mode. But doesn't someone need the trigger words for that?
“That's what a reasonable person would think, but once again, I'm not in charge," Sharon shrugged. "Things would probably be going a lot smoother if I was, but you can't have everything."
(Y/N) cracked a smile. Sharon was a friend, and a good one too. They'd known each other since before SHIELD was shattered in 2014. In fact, Sharon helped train her.
The only thing was: Sharon was a higher ranking agent and often withheld certain information from (Y/N). It frustrated her. This was where their personal boundaries got in the way of their professional ones.
She could tell there was something Sharon wasn't telling her, but she wasn't about to compromise either of their positions by pushing for information she wasn't supposed to know. Hell, maybe even Sharon knows something she isn't supposed to. Or maybe she knows something that Everett Ross wouldn't like. What if she was keeping something from him? Defying him? What if she was working with Steve Rogers? Now that would be interesting.
(Y/N) was used to secrets around her all the time. She knew Sharon had her fair share, and trying to figure them out wouldn't really get her anywhere.
"Right. Okay. Well, I'll get on this then. Thanks, Agent Carter," she teased in late response to Sharon's 'Agent (Y/N).’
Sharon offered a quick smile before walking off to attend to other business.

Pain. That was all it was. In every sense of the word. As she strenously made her way through the densely packed file of one James Buchanan Barnes, pain was all she could see. All she could read. It leaked out of the page and seeped into her skin like poison.
It was horrific what they did to him. She knew he had his memory wiped, had someone pull him out and stick someone else in. But it was more than just that. They took his past, his memories, his thoughts; and they ripped them from his mind, leaving an empty space to mold into their own. It was after this when Hydra, in every way they could, dehumanized him, made him less than. He was striped of his freedom, his control, his choice, his humanity, of everything that made him him. They beat and bruised and broke it out this empty human shell until he was nothing but a shadow of faded morality and consciousness.
But hell, she couldn't look away. She was glued to the aftershock of this horrible wreckage. All the years of studying Psychology and Neuroscience couldn't have possibly prepared her for the absolute horror that was his past, his abuse, his torture. It was heinous. Frankly, she questioned how he was still alive. How he still had the will and the drive to be alive. How do you live after that?
"Fuck," she breathed after eons of silence.
She seemed to lose her sense of time whilst she was immersed in the harrowing nightmare of Hydra's cruelty. 'Cruelty' doesn't even come close to doing it justice. When she came to, her desk looked like a bomb went off. Papers were bursting out of manilla folders, littering the linoleum surface with classified files and secret information. She leaned back in her chair, and gave herself a minute to debrief.
(Y/N) almost felt guilty, like she things she looked at were so vile, so violating that she didn't have the right to see them. Sure, she had read and analyzed all sorts of trauma and psychological profiles. But he was different. Something about James Barnes was different. It tangled her mind the fact that a person could endure all that. She could only imagine the effect that would have on the human brain. The possibilities are endless. Suddenly bombing the UN didn't seem so far fetched.
- - -
"Jesus Christ," (Y/N) murmured, staring at her office floor as Sharon finished explaining to her what happened at the Leipzig Halle Airport.
She sat mostly in silence as she pondered over the information just fed to her. Apparently Tony Stark gathered a 'team' to try and intercept Captain America - sorry - Steve Rogers and his (supposed) fugitive friend. It was chaos.
"What is this? Fuckin' Avengers Fight Night?" she wondered aloud. "How many people did you say were there?"
"Twelve total," Sharon clarified. "Five with Stark and five with Steve."
The psychologist shook her head, dumbfounded. "How did it end?"
"Steve and Barnes got out, but everyone else with them were captured and sent to the Raft."
"The Raft?!" (Y/N) exclaimed. "That's for, like, super humans! Not people like Sam Wilson or Clint Barton!"
"You're telling me."
Sharon seemed in agreement with everything she was saying. However, there was something she couldn't quite place. Like she was holding back. But holding back what?
"So what of Rogers and Barnes?" (Y/N) pushed.
Sharon got up and closed the office door before returning to her seat, leaning in, and lowering her voice. This secretive woman, god damn it.
"Well... That's what I came to talk to you about."
Oh boy. She didn't have a semblance of a single idea of what to expect. Apparently Sharon noticed.
"We're the only ones that know this. They're fine..." the agent trailed off, "They're in Wakanda, but they need a little help."
"Are you leaving?!" (Y/N) all but yelled before quickly slapping a hand over her mouth and uncovering it only to whisper, "Do you and Rogers have a thing or something? Cause' I don't know how else you would know all of this when I'm sure that no one else does considering he's now an enemy of several governments!"
"My relations with Steve Rogers are not the focus here." She could've sworn Sharon flushed. "But we have been in contact; I'm one of the few people he can trust right now, and I don't plan on letting him down anytime soon."
They totally have a thing.
"Noted," said (Y/N) with a nod, "but why are you telling me this? Does he want the profile analysis or something? I don't see how he would need it if he's known Barnes for however long."
"Not exactly..." Sharon fidgeted with her hands. "We need you to go to Wakanda.”

Hi, sex witch! Can you recommend any (preferably online bc we've still got a pandemic after all, also i'm not sure how comfortable i'd be around other people Getting It On) resources for researching getting started on kink practices/bd/sm play and scenes? I've been talking to a long-term and close friend about exploring some things - however we're both inexperienced in sexual things in general, let alone kink. i've found few advice/guide websites for subs (and/or bottoms, most if not all pages i've seen seem to not make a difference there?) some of which are at least somewhat helpful but ngl they're not exactly my focus anyway i've found nearly none for doms and/or tops and the ones i've found so far all seem to focus on 'training' and 'lifestyle' advice while what i'm more interested in is (setting up/planning/practising) play scenes, not any kind of permanent mindset or arrangement or anything like that many articles also paint oddly overbearing ideas about dominance - the interpretation of masculinity and/or domination some sites have made my hair stand on end; not bc they're necessarily toxic but a bit too, well, overbearing. i don't care about "training" anyone (at least i think? not every website defines what exactly they mean when using that word but i'm *not* looking to change my playpartner or their attitude or anything) and i'm certainly not looking to make a lifestyle out of wanting to play for fun some times either - i'm looking to give my partner a good time for sexy things, that's it! (if i could choose a label i really love the idea of "service topping" (service domming? idrc about ~being dominant~ itself that much - i don't mind either! think it could be fun to play that part indeed - but mainly i know my partner would get off on it and i'd love to entertain them!)) bonus hurdle: we're both trans masc vagina havers and i've found a lot of pages (esp with advice for doms/tops) focus either on PIV, anal only and/or cishet scenes and play partners. and while we'll make do either way advice that's not all cishetnormative would be awesome. (also something that's not mainly toy-focused bc, well, we're beginners and it'd be nice not to get any more advice to spend a ton of money on - albeit probably fun, sure - gadgets from the get-go) side note: the search for advice or something like it is mostly to get ideas and reassurance for myself about dipping toes into that kind of play and taking up a top/dom role for one scene or another. ofc we're figuring out the specifics for ourselves with lots and lots of talk and planning and careful experimentation. settings up the basics like protection and prep, check ins, safewords, limits, aftercare and taking things step by step is a given! tl;dr: my sex partner and i are both new to sexual stuff and looking to get into kinky/bd/sm things, do you (and/or your followers) have any pointers on where to start looking for advice, reassurance and ideas for playing and setting up/going through with scenes?
hi anon,
sorry it's taken me a bit to get to this; it got a little buried in my inbox. I'd also like to commend you for sending me maybe the longest ask I've ever received! I didn't know tumblr anons were allowed to be this long and I think perhaps they shouldn't be!
I'm not sure if this part was a question, but my red flags went up the second you mentioned it so I do feel the need to address this just in case someone needs to hear it: "sub" and "bottom" are not the same thing, and neither are "dom" and "top." there are subs who top, doms who bottom, people who will happily top and bottom, people who are delighted to be a dom or a sub, and folks who sexual proclivities are really too slippery to fit neatly into any sort of tidy category.
aside from that, I'm gonna be honest: there are A LOT of words here and I'm not exactly sure where the question is in all of it, aside from the initial request for resources for getting started and getting a general layout on things. for checking out kinky stuff and general idea gathering I'd recommend checking out Evie Lupine's enormous backlog of videos on youtube, and since you mentioned you and your friend are both lacking in sexual experience - which is fine, but adds an extra layer of risk when exploring kink - I'd also really recommend exploring Lindsey Doe's Sexplanations videos for all kinds of primers on anatomy, specific sex acts, and safety.

yIt's done. It took me waaaay to long to write this piece out but between June and my computer apparently deciding to kick me in the teeth this month, the fact I made it to 5 full squares completed anyways I will gladly take as a victory! And, just fyi, this WILL be the last piece for this month. I know that there is still another four days left of June, but I am sick and tired of dealing with my keyboard so this is the last fic you're gonna see from me until I get a new laptop hopefully fairly soon. (Unless I decide that I'm desperate enough to try and write things out on my tablet of course...)
Anyways, the First Date trope was specifically requested by @jesus-hotsauce-christmas-cake when I let her know that the one she did guess (road trip) was going to be a second chapter of a twoshot. Which you still might get because I'm very likely going to be sharing the short little summary blurbs I had written down for each trope so people can very easily bully me into writing them anyways if people still wanted to read them. And even though it would be like months and months late, still post them under this bingo board because I can and I had a cool idea for what I was doing with the colours and layout before life decided to say 'NO!' in a very firm voice. (Unless of course the three lovely ladies that came up with this idea in the first place say no obviously)
Rambling over though now I promise. Chocolate Covered Confessions can be read over and AO3 of course, with the full fic also under the readmore as well.
Chocolate Covered Confessions
Trope: First Date Fandom: Until Dawn Characters: Ashley Brown, Chris Hartley Words: 8214 Rating: General (though reader beware there is some almost scandalous hand holding and a couple of scandalously public kisses. You have been warned...) Authors Notes: Oh look, more chrashley fluff. Who da thunk it? Pride month? What pride month? This is just me apparently figuring out how many different ways I can get Chris and Ash to confess their feelings. Because you only read like three of them, I still have another two waiting in the wings. Plus at least three others if you count climbing chrash lol.
Something was...weird. It wasn't something that Ashley could put her finger on just yet, but something was definitely off that was for sure. The problem of course was that she didn't even know where to start looking in the first place, because for the most part her day had been extraordinarily ordinary.
She, Chris, and Josh had planned to go and see a movie Saturday morning a few days back and then hang out the rest of the day. But seeing as they were, you know, best friends that certainly wasn't the issue. Not even close. They always made plans to do stuff like that together. And yeah, okay, so maybe Josh had 'coincidentally' texted them just before the movie started to let them know that something unavoidable had come up and he wasn't going to be able to meet up with them. And when her and Chris had brought up just waiting until a later showing when he was free, he had immediately been quick to affirm that nope, he was going to be busy the whole rest of the day actually. So the two of them could continue with their original plans and they could make it up to him another time.
While certainly suspicious, that wasn't what was wrong though. Josh had been flaking out on their plans more and more, especially when it was plans that took up an entire day. Ashley Brown wasn't stupid. No siree Bob she was not! She knew exactly what Josh was trying to do by leaving her to spend the day with Chris. Alone . And she appreciated it (she really did!), but if Chris was going to make a move then he would have done it ages and ages ago, because she sure as hell wasn't going to do it! Ashley Brown wasn't stupid, but she also wasn't exactly what you would call brave either.
Not that Chris had seemed to notice what Josh was pulling though, he had just sighed and rolled his eyes with a grumbled "fucking typical", and then the two of them had entered the theater to watch the movie. And as per their usual shtick when Josh wasn't there with them, Chris paid for the tickets while she paid for the food and drinks. Or, at least, that was how it normally went. Instead, when she had decided to take a run to the bathroom while he held their spot in the long concession line, she had come back to Chris waiting for her with the pop and popcorn already in hand. After brushing off her flustered apologies, he had explained that shortly after she had left, another cashier had popped on till so the line had gone down in half the time either had expected. And it seemed like a dick move to just wait there until she came back so he had just decided to get the food instead.
She still felt a little guilty about it honestly, even after swearing that she would get both the tickets and food next time.
And, to be completely fair to Josh, he hadn't exactly been missing out on a lot by skipping out on the movie. It wasn't a horror flick (he would never even think of skipping out on that after all) so it wasn't one that he would feel the need to make the two of them watch again with him. Which was more than fine honestly, because if she was to describe the movie in a single word, well, that word would definitely have been 'dreadful'. If she was given a few more words, then she would have easily elaborated and stated that it was 'a boring, plot-hole driven mess, with only extremely over-the-top action scenes and explosions every five minutes to carry any semblance of the extremely loosely written plot'. In other words, she had lost interest in the movie barely half an hour in, and considering that Chris had started scrolling through his phone bored, she wasn't alone in this boat either.
Still, Ashley had resolved herself to sit through this over-budgeted explosion fest if only because movie tickets were horribly expensive. Not to mention the fact that Chris had shelled out money for both the movie and the food. But then he had turned to her, asked if she was as bored to tears as he was, and once he got that confirmation, asked if she wanted to just ditch the movie entirely. And she did—she really, really did—but didn't want Chris to waste the money he had spent more. And then yet another explosion...exploded on screen, and she realized that she was wasting precious hours of her life that could be used to do something more fun and less mind-numbingly boring.
Like watching paint dry. That at least had a semi-cohesive plot.
And so the two of them had walked out, continuing to share the extra buttered popcorn between them (the movie may have been awful, but the popcorn certainly wasn't) as they left the movie theater behind and wandered into the nearby mall. That wasn't the strange thing either. The mall and subsequent window shopping had absolutely been part of their day plans after, even if those had been unexpectedly pushed forward a couple of hours.
Admittedly the art show that the mall was running in one of the empty storefronts was unexpected, but  it had been simply a nice surprise and a great way to kill time. So after paying the $2 entrance fee, the two of them had continued to share the popcorn as they looked at some of the paintings and sculptures that had been on display, giggling childishly at most of them. And okay, so one of the curators had been glaring at them( or rather, at their greasy, butter-covered fingers) the whole time, but that had just been a little rude and insulting. Not strange. And that had stopped almost the moment they had run out of popcorn, Ashley nudging him in the stomach with her elbow as she licked her fingers clean, and the two of them laughing under their breaths at the curator who had looked exceptionally much more at ease once Chris had crumpled the empty bag into a ball.
The rest of their day in the mall had just been spent following the rest of their day's plan, wandering from shop to shop and browsing at all the things that caught their eyes, and then taking a break after a few hours to have a late lunch in the food court. The two of them checked out another couple of stores, these ones to try and get some ideas for Josh's birthday in another month, before moving onto the small arcade on the top floor. As part of their deal and agreement since it had just been Josh and Chris (Ashey not joining the duo until five years later), Chris bought the tokens needed while she scouted out the various games for an empty console and claimed it until he could join her in another couple of minutes.
They spent the next hour in there, trying to beat each other or work together depending on the game in question. They almost never played a game twice before moving onto the next one, in hopes to both try as many games as possible before their self imposed hour ended and to see if they could beat their previous high scores or make it onto the leaderboard in only a single try. But as the hour came to a close, they both made their way over to their final game: one of the racing simulators scattered around the arcade. And as had been done for ten years now, played to determine which of them would be paying for the tokens next time they came.
And once the race ended, with Ashley winning by photo finish for the third time in a row (and celebrating her winning streak by maturely sticking out her tongue and doing an awkward little shimmy dance in the seat while Chris jokingly sulked and pouted), they had finally left the mall altogether and got into Chris's truck. There, he had surprised Ashley with the novel she had been eyeing in the bookstore (or at least, eyeing closer than all the rest she had picked up) and that he had somehow been able to buy without her noticing. And that certainly hadn't been weird, because it had been so exceptionally sweet of him, sweet enough that Ashley had so badly wished that she could thank him properly. But as mentioned before, Ashley Brown was a coward pure and simple, so she had just clutched the book to her chest and beamed at Chris in heartfelt thanks instead.
He may have said something in reply, but Ashley had already settled into the passenger seat and opened to the first page of the book, so she was already long gone. A fact that Chris had anticipated, if the light chuckle he had let out before starting the truck meant anything. And no, Ashley reading a book while Chris drove them to their usual game store across town was not the strange thing either. If Chris hadn't wanted her to read on the drive over and talk to him, then he never would have given her the book now of all times. He would have waited until he had dropped her off home, or not even bought the book in the first place. After over a half a decade of friendship, if anyone knew what would happen after giving Ashley Brown a new book, it was Chris Hartley.
The drive over is done quicker then she had expected, and even then Chris still hadn't let her know that they had arrived until she had finished her chapter. Yes he had certainly teased her about it the entire time, joking about how she would never find someone as understanding of her reading habits then him (he didn't know how right he was, that she didn't want to find anyone else), but the fact that he had just continued to let the music play in the truck and distracted himself on his phone was so unbearably sweet that she decided to let it lie.
The fact that Ashley and Chris hung around in the game shop comparing dice and looking at new books while wincing over the prices for nearly two hours wasn't what was off either. Hell, if anything the fact that they only spent a couple of hours there before leaving was weird! Her, Chris, and Josh could easily spend almost half a day in there flipping through comics and rolling dice to test them out, only leaving because a tired employee was forced to ask them to leave for making too much noise and taking up a table when they weren't playing anything, especially when there was a group that had been waiting for a table for close to an hour now.
Which brought Ashley to where she was right now, sitting at a sticky plastic table under the shade of a cheap umbrella while Chris had run off to get them some ice cream before dropping her off at home. Her new book was open in front of her, the pages crisp white even in the umbrella's shade, but her mind wasn't on the book anymore. A random line had a character mentioning that something had been feeling off all day ever since they woke up ('like everything had been moved three centimeters to the left, so while it all looked normal, nothing felt right anymore'), and Ashley had also realized that hey, wait a second, her day was also feeling just a little wonky too! But no matter how hard she thought about it, she couldn't put her finger on exactly what it was. Today had just been a normal day hanging out with Chris after all. They went to see (and bailed) a movie, spent hours hanging out in the mall and at the game store, and now they were each going back home. Nothing unusual had happened, so why did it feel like something hugely monumental had been going on all day?
"Oi. Earth to Ash, you okay in there?"
A light flick to the center of Ashley's forehead has her blink in surprise, and she finds herself back into the present once again. Chris is standing next to her, carefully balancing the two cones in his right hand and his left ready to flick again if needed, and a bemused smile on his face.
"Oh, uh, sorry Chris. Got a little too into the book I think." She closes the book, not wanting to get melting ice cream all over its crisp white pages (and she really hasn't absorbed a single word for nearly ten minutes now), but Chris doesn't hand her the cone just yet.
"Yeah, I'm not buying that," Chris says as he snorts in disbelief. "I know your 'praise be to books' look, and that was not it. That was your 'head full, too many thoughts' look."
"Excuse me? What? I do not have a reading look! Or a thinking look for that matter!"
"Oh you do. You really, really do. Trust me. You may have been staring at that book but there was no way that you were reading, I would bet my own ice cream here on it." Chris brandishes his double chocolate cone at her, then seems to reconsider and switches to show off her own dipped soft serve that he still has yet to actually let her eat. "Actually, you know what? I would eat your dipped monstrosity if I'm wrong."
Ashley sighs, but she can't keep the smile from her face. "It's not that bad this time, oh my god. It's chocolate ice cream dipped in blueberry syrup. This is actually a normal combination for people who go out of their way to order more exciting cones then two scoops of chocolate." She leans forward and places her elbows on the table to support her head in her hands. "But I wanna see you do it anyway, so tell me exactly why you're so convinced that I wasn't reading."
Chris opens his mouth, but immediately closes it a second later, as though he didn't realize exactly what he had signed himself up for here until now. Ashley of course takes it as a sign of victory. "I knew it. So let's see this Chris, I wanna see you eat something that isn't—"
"When you read you get, like, super attentive." Chris's face is pink, and not looking at her but at the book on the table as he bashfully continues. "You become so drawn in to whatever you're reading that you ignore everything going on around you, because all of your attention is now on that book. Pretty sure a bomb could go off right next to you and you wouldn't even notice sometimes. And it's always so easy to tell what's happening in the book when you're reading too, cause your face is always so expressive. Like your eyes get big when something exciting or surprising happens, and when you're really enjoying whatever it is you're reading, you start giggling like a loon."
Ashley is too stunned and, quite frankly, her heart is beating too fast for her to even think of a proper response to that . She manages to squeak out a quiet little "oh, um" but Chris doesn't notice. Not when he's still babbling and not looking at her at all.
"But when you get deep in thought, you're not like that at all. All of your attention goes inward, and everything around you disappears cause all the important stuff is going on inside your head right now. Your mouth falls open just a little, sort of like you're gaping at all the information in front of you. And-and sometimes you'll mouth out what's going on inside your head as you try to fit the pieces of everything together so it's neat and tidy like a puzzle. And even though you have the, like, blankest stare imaginable, it's not empty at all if that makes any sense. Cause your eyes narrow and your forehead scrunches just the tiniest amount so you have a small little wrinkle form like right here—" with his unoccupied hand Chris points at the bridge of his nose right between his eyes "—and it's weirdly, insanely cute? But when you finally figure out the puzzle in your head, your face lights up like a kid on christmas morning and...and..." He lets his words trail off and stops awkwardly there, as though finally realizing exactly what he's been saying this entire time.
His face is almost beet red now, and Ashley is pretty sure hers is too. "Oh, uh, wow. I-I didn't realize you paid any attention to me when I was like that..."
Somehow his face only gets redder, and though he mumbles the words under his breath, Ashley can still make them out. "I'm always paying attention to you."
But not close enough attention it seems, she thinks sadly. If you did then you would have noticed something way more obvious than that. But she doesn't want to embarrass him anymore than he already is (then she already is), and she isn't sure what else she could possibly say that wouldn't be her blurting out that she likes him, so instead she pretends that she hadn't heard a single thing and wordlessly accepts the ice cream that he hands to her, accepting her defeat as she takes a small bite of the blueberry covered chocolate soft serve.
...The blueberry covered chocolate soft serve that he had bought for her. Or, you know, the ice cream he had paid for himself. Just like he had paid for everything today. Kind of like it was almost a, uh, date. Like he had taken her on a date.
Oh .
"Oh boy, let me guess: I was right and your ice cream really is a crime against taste buds?"
Ashley comes crashing back down to reality to see Chris, his face still a little red but the playful smile back on his face as he teased her. And yet, that only makes it worse as she can't help but feel the usual gymnastics routine the butterflies in her stomach perform at that particular smile, only they're a thousand times worse now that's she's realized exactly why today had felt so strange. And she can't help thinking how much everyone else would classify what was just a day hanging out with her best friend as a date. And how much she really, really wished it was one.
"Nope," she unfortunately squeaks out, and clears her throat so she can continue in a more normal tone of voice. "Nope, sorry to disappoint Chris, but the ice cream tastes fine." She takes another bite for proof (and to her credit she's not lying, it tastes more than fine). "Just, uh, realized something funny that's all." And the moment the words leave her mouth she realizes just how badly she's screwed everything up, because there is no way in any world that Chris Hartley is just going to let that comment lie.
"Funny? Oho, well now I'm interested. You mind sharing your glorious epiphany with the rest of the class Miss Brown?"
Taking another small taste of her ice cream, Ashley averts her gaze as she gives what she is kicking herself for is obviously an extremely forced laugh. "Did I say funny? I meant boring, just super boring actually."
"Well now I just want to hear it more."
"No, you don't. Trust me, you really, really don't."
Chris's brows furrow in concern. "Ash? You okay?"
She isn't, of course she isn't. She's now realized exactly what a date with Chris would be like, and it would be exactly like this. With them going to all the same place and doing the same things but she's allowed to hold his hand and kiss him when he does stupid sweet things like buying her the book she's been eyeing and talking about all day. She's never wanted something to be so true so badly in her life. And it's likely this thought in her mind that causes her to blurt out "A date." before she even realizes what she's said.
That only makes the confusion on Chris's face go deeper, which is appropriate considering she's sinking deeper and deeper into her chair in a futile effort to hide or escape as well. "What? Are you saying that you just remember what date it is today? Or that you had something you were supposed to do today instead? I'm not really following you right now Ash..."
This is perfect. It's the perfect excuse, she could laugh and say that she totally forgot what day it was and that she had an essay due pretty soon, or that she was supposed to babysit for a neighbour tonight. Anything really, the sky was quite literally the limit. And instead she just bit her lip and stared at the ice cream melting in her hand before weakly admitting "No, a, uh, date. As in, the romantic kind. I realized that today probably looks like a date to anyone else. Funny, huh?"
She's not sure how Chris would react to that. Maybe a startled laugh, and hand wave as he brushes her off. A scoff as he assures her that this definitely isn't a date, cause they're just friends and that's all they'll ever be. Whatever the reaction she expected, it was certainly not the fumbling for his ice cream as he nearly drops it in his shock, and how absolutely flustered he sounds as he trips over his own tongue. "W-what? I-I-I, uh—I mean, th-this obviously isn't—Who would even—? Wh-what would even give you the idea that we could um, possibly be on a date?"
Ashley shrugs weakly. "Isn't it obvious Chris?" She ignores his even more flustered babbling that no, he absolutely did not see what was so obvious as she continued on, still too nervous to look him in the eyes. "You've kind of paid for everything today."
"I wha—? I mean, no I haven't!"
"You kind of have, Chris. The theater?"
"You know I always pay for the tickets, and it would have just been really rude to make the line even longer!"
"The art show?"
"It was just a couple of toonies! And you saw the face of the worker there, they would have kicked us right out if they'd had to break a twenty. It was just easier."
"Lunch?"
"They-they'd had a special on for a two-person meal at that stall in the food court, and they wouldn't let each of us pay half..." he neglected to point out that Ashley could have easily paid for their lunch, and probably should have, but before she had been able to offer he'd already been swiping his debit card.
"The arcade?"
"Okay, that was my turn to buy the tokens, you know that. That one doesn't even count."
Ashley lifted her eyes from the ice cream to the book that sat menacingly and innocently all at one at the center of the table, it's pristine cover mocking her. "The book?"
"T-that was just a gift! You seemed really into it at the store and friends buy each other gifts all the time—"
There was no describing how soft and nervous her voice got as she asked the question that would put the final nail in the coffin. "The ice cream?"
"I, uh, it was just—um..." Chris let out a breath in a weak chuckle. "Shit, I guess I kind of did, huh?"
Ashley doesn't say anything, and neither does Chris, as the table goes silent. She's bracing herself  for when Chris inevitably shoots her down and confirms that it doesn't matter. That the two of them will never be anything more then friends and that she never should have hoped for anything more and by revealing this she's ruined their friendship for good—
"Hey, uh, Ash?" He sounds so nervous that it immediately takes Ashley out of her anxiety driven thoughts of doom and gloom, but she can't do anything more than just shakily nod to let him continue. "It's, uh, probably like a really, really, really stupid question but—" he takes a nervous breath "—did you want this to be a date?"
Her head immediately shoots up as she stares at him with wide eyes, her breath caught somewhere in her throat where her heart is currently lodged. She frantically rakes her eyes over Chris's face looking for any hint that he's mocking her, or playing some cruel joke on her and her feelings, but all she sees is just nervousness all over a pale, shaking face with what she thinks ( prays ) is a glimmer of undisguised hope. But it's still too much uncertainty, and she's too scared to risk it all on a mere glimmer that she is likely only imagining because she wants it so badly to be real, so she throws the question back at him instead.
"...would you have been opposed if this was actually a date?"
"Nuh uh, I asked you first."
Ashley realizes that he's just as scared at what the answer might be as she is. She wants to tell him, has wanted to tell him for years and years and years. And maybe this is the chance she's been waiting for her whole life. The two of them sitting at a sticky plastic table under the early evening sun, long forgotten ice cream melting in their hands, and she can finally tell him that she's had such a huge crush on him since she was twelve.
"Yeah." The word is less choked out than it is released. Like it's a breath of fresh air and she feels simultaneously lighter and heavier for it. "I-I think I would have liked that. I would have liked that alot."
Chris snaps his gaze up to meet hers, and the glimmer of hope that she had seen earlier has now nearly taken over his face at the disbelieving smile that's threatening to crack his face in two. "Really? I-I mean, uh, I would have been alright with the idea too. More than alright actually."
She can feel her own smile start to nervously match his, and then the first giggle breaks out. His own ecstatic laughter quickly follows her own until the two of them are both giddily laughing at the table, but too embarrassed and bashful to even look at each other now. The giggling abruptly cuts off when Chris lets out a yelp of surprise when he realizes how much of his ice cream has melted onto his hand and Ashley joins him in trying to finish off their ice cream before it's melted entirely. But there's definitely a change in the atmosphere around them now. The contentness and laid back ease that always formed between them whenever they hung out was still there, but there is a charge that hadn't been there before either. An excited anticipation that only surges higher and higher whenever Ashley shyly glances in Chris's direction to find he's looking at her with the same disbelieving smile beaming on his face.
They never say anything more about it as they both finish off the ice cream, but Ashley knows. With that little agreement, the entire day had changed. This wasn't just them hanging out as friends anymore, this was an actual, factual date now, pure and simple. So when Chris hands her a couple of extra napkins to clean herself off, she may have let her fingers brush against his for just a moment. The resulting blush and dumbstruck smile on his face when he cautiously took his hand back so he could clean up the rest of the mess on the table was oh so worth it. And when he returned from his trip to the garbage can and held out his hand as an offer to help her up from the chair, she accepted it readily.
Once she's back on her feet, the two of them drop their eyes to stare at their still clasped hands, realizing that they could easily hold hands the entire short walk back to Chris's truck if they wanted. And she does want that—horribly in fact—but it seems it's still a little too early for either of them to make that teeny tiny but monumental jump to hand holding so they let go awkwardly and slowly, letting their fingers linger against the others before letting go completely. As though giving themselves a taste of what may yet actually come to pass in the (hopefully) very near future.
The short walk back to the truck is filled with both anticipation and dread alike, but unusually silent. Ashley knows it's because she's now a buzzing ball of nervous energy, terrified that saying anything at all will shatter this dream that's apparently coming true before her eyes, but Chris is different. He looks more like he's trying to work up the courage to say or ask something, and is spending all his energy on that alone. So when he reaches out to open up the passenger side door for her, Ashley can feel her heart pick up speed when he stops with his hand on the door handle and looks at her nervously. His mouth opens and shuts a couple of times as he tries to work up the courage to say whatever it is he wants to say, and all she can do is stare at him expectantly as she struggles to hold back an excited smile.
"Hey, Ash, ca—nevermind. It's, it's stupid. Don't worry about it." A second later, he has the door opened for her and the moment she can't see his face, she lets her smile fall crestfallen. But only for a second before a polite one replaces it as thanks when he closes the door for her and continues to his side of the truck. It's fine, she supposes as she buckles herself in, while the two of them have been hanging out all day, it's only been an actual date now for barely ten minutes. And once he drops her off home in just another few short minutes it's going to be over. The fact that she even managed to get this far is franky mind blowing, so expecting anything more from her dreams would just be extremely selfish. She can't have everything she wants all at once, no matter how long she's been waiting for it.
The drive back to her place is also quiet, filled with only the droning of the radio playing in the background. Ashley's returned back to her book, but she knows that Chris knows that she's not absorbing a single word, hasn't turned a single page even. She keeps glancing at him out of the corner of her eye as he nervously taps at the steering wheel, and then tightening his grasp when it looks like he's going to say something, only to return to the nervous tapping when he inevitably backs out at the last second and returns to the frantic pep talk he's likely giving himself. The air that fills the vehicle is heavy and thick with anticipation and it's taking almost everything in Ashley to not start shaking the question out of Chris at every red light they stop at.
But, eventually, they pull up in front of her place and Chris stops the truck. There's a moment where the two of them just sit there, not wanting to leave because leaving means the end, and Ashley schools her face into a cheery smile in an effort to hide as much of the disappointment as she can when she turns to face him and bid him farewell, only to have it fall to confusion when he starts fumbling at his own seatbelt.
"Chris? What are you doing?"
He struggles further at it, frustrated that the buckle's apparently decided that now is the perfect time for it to stick once again. "Trying to get this fucking thing off."
"Yeah, I figured that much. But why are you trying to take it off, you're just gonna leave right away again anyway."
He slows his fumbling as cheeks start darkening in embarrassment. "I, uh, I just thought that was something you were supposed to do after a date, walk them to their door to stay goodnight. I mean, at least I think this is a date now? And, and only if you're okay with it! I can stay in here instead if you don't want me to. I was just hoping..."
The once forced cheery smile on her face is certainly not being forced any longer, if anything she's trying not to show how much the idea of Chris walking her to her door thrills her. "N-no!" Well, so much for trying not to show how desperately she wants that. The startled look he gives her at the unexpected outburst had her trying to control her voice into something less desperate, but considering she doesn't think she's ever going tame the frantic butterflies that have been flapping around non-stop in her stomach ever since the ice cream realization, she's probably doing a terrible job of it. "I-I mean if you want to, it's completely up to you after all..."
"Cool. Cool cool cool. Just, just give me a second." He continues to struggle with his seatbelt buckle, letting out more and more agitated curses escape the longer the thing continues to stick, and Ashley is getting the feeling that if he was able, Chris would have ripped the entire thing straight out of the seat by now. Broken safety laws and ensuing repair costs be damned. The moment he finally manages to unstick the traitorous buckle it's with a cry of victory and relief so exuberant that Ashley finds herself laughing in disbelief and awe that he had wanted to walk her the short ten or so feet to her front door that badly. Thankfully, for both of them, her seatbelt unclicks easily and much more quickly in comparison, only taking another couple of seconds to grab her bag from the footwell and joining him.
The far too short walk up to her door is over before either of them realize it. One second the two of them had been standing awkwardly and nervously by the truck as she fought the urge to reach out and grab his hand, and the next they're standing just as awkwardly and nervously (if not moreso) in front of the front door. Both of them waiting for the other to say or do something to break the tension, but cleanly aware that doing so would signal the very final end of the day, and the date. In fact, just knowing that Chris doesn't want this to end just as badly as her, is what gives her the courage to look at him with a surprisingly heartfelt and soft smile.
"Today was fun."
Chris lifts his eyes from where they had been staring at the dried leaves on the doorstep to match her smile. "Yeah. It was."
"And thanks. For the movie, and everything else." Ashley raises her hand to give the new and still shiny paperback a small wave. "And, you know, the book too. Of course."
"Yeah, it was no problem. Anytime." There's something with how he says the last bit—not really emphasizing it but making it clear all the same that he means 'anytime'—that causes her face to flush giddily as she pulls her lower lip in between her teeth in a weak effort to fight back against the ecstatic smile that forms anyway. And when she sees his eyes lower just a smidge to follow the motion and the way his shoulders stiffen in reaction, Ashley very quickly also finds she's trying (much more successfully) to hold herself  back from just saying 'to hell with it' and throwing her arms around Chris so she can finally kiss him silly and until they're both breathless. But considering that she's too much of a coward to initiate something as innocent as hand holding apparently, there is absolutely no way that something as...as scandalous as kissing him on her doorstep is ever going to happen. Clearly.
And yet, she gives Chris another few seconds to try and work past that blockade in his throat, but when he still can't muster a single word, she decides to just put the both of them out of their misery. Or further into it. It's probably just the same thing really. "I guess I'll see you next time. I'll talk to you later, okay?" She turns away and puts her hand on the doorknob, and tucks the book under her arm so she can dig into her bag for keys, but is stopped when Chris's hand abruptly snakes out and wraps itself firmly around her wrist before she can reach into the bag. And it works—boy does it ever —turning back to him and the hand wrapped around her wrist as excitement just starts to bubble up inside of her.
A second later though, his brain has apparently caught up with the movement he clearly hadn't intended to make, because his face goes beet-red and he's dropped her hand so he can shove both into the pockets of his jeans. He averts his eyes so he's back to staring at the loose gravel and dried leaves under their feet.
"Oh, uh, sorry about that. I didn't mean to..."
"It's fine, Chris." Ashley tries to smile softly at him in reassurance, but it's considering she's gripping the doorknob in an almost vice-like grip in anticipation, it's likely far more eager than she would like. "What is it?"
Somehow, his face goes even redder and he blurts out the question so fast that it may as well have been one word. "CanIkissyou?!"
Immediately, Ashley's gaping at him wide-eyed and her mouth open in shock as her heart's beating so fast that she's pretty sure it's ready to burst out of her chest at any moment. "Wha—"
"I-I mean goodnight. Can I kiss you goodnight? That's what people are supposed to do on dates, right? A-a-a-and I think we agreed that this is a date now, or at least I really, really hope we did. Cause I've wanted to go on a date with you for the longest time and-and-and I didn't want Saundra or-or-or any of your neighbours to see cause I know that would just really embarrass you and me but I've been trying to ask you for the past thirty minutes now cause I've wanted to kiss you since forever but I was scared about how you would react cause I really, really, really like you Ash and I just wanna to kiss you so fucking bad right now you have no idea and—"
Ashley would like to believe that she's brave enough to throw her arms around Chris and drag him down into that searing kiss she's been dreaming about forever and ever, but she doesn't. Even with a confession that is everything she's ever wanted to hear and more. That's not to say that she doesn't want to do it—god does she want to do it—but she's so frozen in place from shock that she physically can't. So instead she just continues to gape at him as he (adorably) rambles on and on, and giggles out an elated little "okay".
His nervous rambling stops dead in its tracks, and he finally looks back up at her, nervous relief evident all over his face. "Really? I mean, are you sure? I'd understand if you didn't want to—"
" Chris ."
That immediately shifts the relief to a different kind of nervousness entirely, one of excited disbelief, but even then neither move to actually initiate this promised kiss for several seconds. Instead just staring at each other waiting for the other to be the first to move, Chris with his hands still in his jeans pockets and Ashley glued to the doorknob with her other hand frozen as it hovers over her bag. Finally, Chris is the first to slowly bend down to meet her awkwardly half turned body, and she unsteadily tries to rock herself onto the tips of her toes without losing her balance completely and falling over. And still, they both pause about an inch away from each other's faces, though whether to give the other an out if needed or just to work through the logistics of how to do this exactly without their foreheads or noses smashing into each other or Chris's glasses getting in the way is anyone's guess.
But finally, mainly due to the fact that Ashley can't lean forward anymore without falling completely on her face, Chris closes that final bit of distance and kisses her. It's a nervous brush of the lips really—a quick peck at best —but they jolt back from each other so quickly that the single action may as well have activated some hidden magnetic repel function that neither had been aware of until this moment. Both of them are staring at each other wide-eyed and breathless as the magnitude of what they had both finally managed to accomplish hit them. The kinda-sort confession and the almost hand holding meant absolutely nothing in comparison to this. Those she could have (and would most likely have) brushed off as her reading too much into innocent statements and gestures when she thought over everything that had happened today in the safety of her room later tonight. But this? This was physical proof .
Looking back, Ashley's not sure which of them moved first. One second they had been staring at each other in disbelief, stuck in the same awkward bent and leaning stature from before, and the next it's as if the magnetic attraction between them reverses its flow entirely. Chris is cupping her cheek with one hand as he kisses her in the way she always dreamed he would, his other hand slowly skating across the back of her neck so he can pull her up closer to him. The book that had once been clutched protectively under her arm was completely forgotten about—fallen to the ground with a sharp crunch as it crushed the dried leaves beneath their feet—as her arms wrapped possessively around his shoulders as she props herself as high as the tips her toes will allow her. She can still taste a hint of the chocolate from earlier on his lips, and the small part of her that isn't being blown away by all of this is wondering if he can taste the blueberry and chocolate on hers as well.
She's not sure how long the two of them stood there on her doorstep, kissing for all the world to see, but she does know that they still separate much, much too soon for her liking. Not that they fully separate of course. She may be back on the soles of her feet, but neither of them have removed themselves from the embrace itself. And with the way that Chris is lightly brushing his thumb over her cheekbone as he just stares at her with the same stupidly giddy grin she's got, Ashley would be perfectly fine if they could just stay standing like this forever.
"So..." she starts, and stops to take a moment to giggle when Chris bumps his nose into hers. "I think that was a perfectly acceptable first date if you ask me."
Chris doesn't let go of her when he leans back to consider her, the comically raised eyebrows in shock doing nothing to take away from the absolutely thrilled beam of his smile. " First date? Why Miss Brown, are you perhaps asking me out for a second one already?"
"I mean, if it's not too presumptuous of me, I suppose I am. I-if you're not opposed to it of course." She can't help the way her nervousness starts to bleed through with that last sentence, already panicking that she's somehow completely misread everything that's just happened and that maybe that kiss didn't mean as much to him as it did to her after all.
His next words completely derail those fears entirely. "Of course I'm not, I would love nothing more than to go on a second date with you. Followed by a third and fourth and even a fifth if you have the time for it."
"I mean, I'm a pretty busy girl but I think I can open up as many days in my schedule as it takes if I need to."
Before she knows it, the two of them are leaning in for another kiss when the sound of pot being dropped in the nearby kitchen through the open window jarringly brings them back to reality and the two of them let go of each other red faced and embarrassed. Oh no, how much of this had her mother heard? Or worse, saw? She wants to leave the doorstep (which is rapidly becoming her favourite place in the whole entire world) even less now, but the longer she takes the worse the excited interrogation from Saundra will be so she starts digging back into her bag to try and find her keys once again.
"I'll text you later, okay? And, maybe, we can talk some more about that second date...?"
The reply from Chris is flustered but eager. "Yeah, totally. I-I wouldn't miss it for the world."
"Cool. And um, the next one's one me. The date that is. It's only fair after all."
"Yeah, right. Only fair. Totally. And, uh, your book..."
She finally finds her keys from where they had sunk to the bottom of her bag, and looks up at him and the paperback book that had fallen during their, uh, intimate embrace. "Oh! Uh, right. Thanks." She could easily leave it at that, but the last few minutes have made her bold so when she reaches out to take the book back from him, Ashley curls her fingers over his and bounces onto the balls of her feet so she can give him one last kiss on his cheek—almost the corner of his mouth really—before finally stepping back with the book and keys in her hand. "I mean it. Thanks . For everything."
"Yeah. No problem. It was my pleasure."
She lets herself have one last glimpse of the stupefied grin on his face just as he turns to walk just a little unsteadily down the path back to his truck. The only sounds being the leaves crushing underfoot and the jangle of metal as she sticks her keys into the door to finally unlock it. A sound that it quickly interrupted by not only the click of the door unlocking, but a muffled shout.
Alarmed, she turns quickly expecting to see Chris having accidentally shut his coat into the door as he is sometimes known to do when the weather gets colder, but instead watches in elated shock as he continues to keep energetically flapping his arms and fist pumping into the air and screaming what she can vaguely make out as 'yesyesyesyesYESYESYES' over and over again.
Suddenly it hits her. Despite the shy confession over ice cream, and then the much more rushed and rambled one only minutes ago, and followed by the kiss(es) that are still sending her heart into rapid fire, Ashley still hadn't believed what all the evidence had been saying. Chris liked her. He really, really liked her. Possibly as much as she liked him even! This wasn't just a one-off event that would now make things awkward between them for the rest of their lives. This was happening. They'd just had a first(!!!!) date and after Chris had kissed her goodbye, she had asked him out for a second one.
And he had accepted .
Ashley fumbled with the door and the moment she was in the house, slammed the door behind her, not even bothering to lock it. She let her bag fall from her shoulder to the floor with a soft thump and slowly slid down the door until she was sitting against it with her eyes wide and breathless. She ignored the surprised clatter coming from the kitchen as Saundra immediately dropped whatever it was she had been doing in and held up the book so she could stare at the once innocuous cover in amazement.
He had bought her this book and the ice cream because he liked her and he had gladly and excitedly accepted to go out on another date with her. And even more if he had been serious about that third date and beyond line.
And not that either would ever know it, Ashley mirrored Chris at that exact moment by placing her head into her hands and screaming as the built up joy and bliss finally exploded out of her.

A/n: Hey guys so it was brought to my attention and I also kinda noticed that my writing looks clustered as hell on tumblr cause I’m just not used to writing on it. So I’m gonna start typing my stories on Wattpad and transferring them onto tumblr cause it’s just easier for me since I’ve been writing on Wattpad for years. Let me know if it’s easier to read and if you guys would prefer it if I changed the rest of my previous imagines to this layout!
Requested by: Fallonburns (Wattpad)
Warnings: None I think. A kiss? I don’t know if you need to be warned about that. Okay bye!

As a member of the school dance committee it was part my job to push ideas and work out any kinks before a dance could happen. That included booking food, decorations, and of course entertainment.
"Come on y/n! Julie and her hologram band could totally blow the roof off this place and you know it" Flynn spoke as I walked down the hall towards my locker.
"Of course I know it Flynn and I know Julie would kill it but it's not my decision. Plus the dance is tomorrow. Who knows if Dinas gonna wanna add another entertainer for the night besides you?" I spoke to one of my longest friends.
"Well will you at least put in a good word?"
"I'll see what I can do" I said putting in my locker combination.
"Yes! Thank you"
Seconds later I groaned feeling my body particularly my head collide with the small metal door in a split second.
"Y/n!" I heard Flynn shout helping me regain my balance.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry" I heard a familiar voice making my heart rate pick up.
"Nick" I panted attempting to recover the air that was just knocked out of me.
"Y/n I didn't mean to really. Ethan threw the ball and I tried to catch it I-I'm sorry"
"It's cool. I'm totally fine" I attempted to play it off as I grabbed my binder from my locker.
"If totally fine means you've got a concussion then yeah you seem great" Flynn said making me scowl at her.
"Do you need to go to the nurse? I can walk you if you want" He said putting a hand on my head exactly where it had made contact with my locker door.
"Nick I'm fine really" I smiled removing his hand. I finally made eye contact with the boy who stood there smiling back at me. His beautiful blue eyes taking my breath away once more. Knocking out of the trance I glanced back at Flynn to see her eyeing me suspiciously.
“Are you sure?”
"Positive. I've gotta get to class. I'll see you later" I said pulling Flynn away from the scene in a hurry.
"Yeah, later" Nick called out to us as we continued down the hall.
"Seriously? Nick? What is it with that boy? I mean first Julie now you"
"Now me what? I don't like Nick. Julie likes Nick"
"Yeah if Nicks name started with L and rhymed with Duke" I looked at the girl in confusion.
"What?"
"Nothing. Julie doesn't like Nick anymore but it seems you do and as one of your oldest friends I think it's my job to tell you to go for it"
"Last time you told me to go for something I ended up on the school dance committee. I have 500 balloons to blow up by tomorrow" I said walking towards Carrie and Kayla. Kayla sent me a smile earning a pointed look from Carrie.
"Kayla. Carrie. I hope to see you guys at the dance this Thursday" I spoke smiling at the two girls.
"Sounds interesting. But I'm busy with Nick. You know MY boyfriend" She said putting emphasis on the word my.
"Plus if Flynn's gonna DJ I just don't know if I'd make it through the night"
I put an arm in front of Flynn to hold her back before turning back to the two girls.
"Well take a flyer anyways just in case" I grinned taking one from the stack in my binder.
"Thanks" Kayla said taking the flyer out of my hands.
"I hope to see you there" I sent the two another fake smile before walking away with Flynn to our next class.
"How do you talk to her without going off on her?"
"Well for starters it takes a lot of patience. They don't say fake it til you make it for nothing" I giggled along with Flynn as she looped her arm around my own.
I strutted down the hall walking towards music room where I knew Flynn and Julie would be at this time excited to give them the news.
Suddenly I felt someone grab my arm and spin me around to face them.
“Oh Nick" I said looking up at the boy in front of me. A blush creeping onto my face as I noticed the intense look he was sending me.
"What's up?" I questioned cautiously.
"We're friends right?"
"Yeah of course why?"
"I need a favor"
"A favor? A favor like what?" I asked watching his gaze flicker to our right. I turned to see Carrie and the rest of dirty candy walking towards us.
Before I could process what came next my body collided with the cold metal lockers behind me as Nick pushed his lips onto mine.
I slowly melted into the kiss wrapping my arms around his neck pulling him closer. But he didn't seem to mind.
"Nick" Carries voice interrupted what had soon become a make out session. The boy in front of me pulled away first keeping his hands firmly on my waist.
"Oh Carrie. What do you want?"
"We need to talk"
"I'm a little busy here" He said tilting his head towards me.
"Well become unbusy"
"I would but we have nothing to talk about. I told you yesterday we're over and that's it"
"We're not over until I say we're over"
"I'd say your pretty over"
"Oh shut it y/n. I know this is fake because Nick would never like a girl like you. I mean look at yourself. Pathetic" She talked with anger evident in her voice.
"Don't talk to her like that" Nick spoke turning to stand in front of me.
“Nick it's fine. She's right"
"No she's not. I'd rather be with someone who's kind, gentle, and doesn't have the personality of a mountain lion" Nick said glaring at Carrie who stood there with a smirk.
"You'll be back Nicky. See you Friday at the dance" She said walking away her posse hot on her tail.
"Thanks for sticking up for me Nick. You didn't have to. And sorry if I wasn't believable enough"
"You were great. Amazing! And I'll always stick up for you. You know that" He said smiling down at me.
"I know. I'd just prefer it if every time we met you didn't push me against the lockers. They’re cold and made out of metal you know?" I joked making him chuckle.
"Yeah sorry about that. And I'm sorry for dragging you into this. It's just Carrie won't leave me alone"
"I kinda figured when you shoved your tongue down my throat" I giggled watching a cute grin form on his face.
"Yeah yeah. I didn't hear you complaining"
"Well I mean you're not the worst kisser" I said biting my lip watching him get flustered.
"I can do better than that. I was just under pressure"
"Then I guess you'll have to prove it to me later" I spoke confidently before turning around walking in the direction I was heading.
"Hey! Wait!" He called out after me. "Yeah?" I questioned turning around.
"Are you going to the dance?" He asked shoving his hands in his pocket
"Yeah I have to. I kinda helped planned it" I called back smiling at him.
"So I'll see you there"
"See you there" I spoke turning back around reaching the end of the hall.
I pushed open the doors to the band room open only to hear a loud thud.
"Flynn?" I questioned seeing the girl on the ground.
"Are you okay?" I asked helping her up
"She's fine" Someone else in the room spoke.
"Oh hey Julie" I grinned at the girl who sat at the piano.
"Hey y/n"
"So are you gonna explain to me why you were on the floor?"
"Sure just as soon as you explain to me why Nick had you pushed up against the lockers" My face fell in embarrassment as I looked at Julie in panic.
"Julie it's not-"
"It's okay y/n. I'm over him. I kinda moved onto someone else"
"Really?"
"Really. You have my blessing" She confirmed with a grin.
"Thanks. Now that that's over. You were spying on me weren't you?" I questioned turning to Flynn.
"Whaaat no. I would never"
"She was spying" Julie confirmed for me once more.
"Thought so. I'll explain everything later I came to find you guys cause I have great news" I grinned pulling out a flyer from my backpack.
"Performing at Thursday nights dance is Julie and her hologram band" I smiled showing Flynn the paper.
"Wait what?" Julie asked with a surprised look on her face.
"I haven't told her"
"You haven't told her?" I asked with an exasperated look knowing this was gonna be a long evening.
It was Thursday night and I was running around making sure everything was going according to plan.
“Hey how’s she doing?” I asked Flynn nervously biting my lip.
“Not good. Her band she can’t get a hold of them......literally” Flynn explained making me nod my head.
“It’s just it’s 11:20 already”
“I know but this means a lot to her”
“I understand. Just keep stalling with your amazing dj skills” I smiled giving the girl a thumbs up.
“Thanks y/n. You’ve been running around all night why don’t you take a break?”
“I can’t even if I wanted to”
“Come on! Look Nicks been staring at you all night. If you pull him on the dance floor I’ll play something smooth. Something slow” She smirked at me bumping my shoulder.
“No you will not” I warned the girl. Looking over to the blonde boy who was evidently looking our way. Looking at me. He sent me a smile to which I smiled back at.
“Try me” She said making me playfully roll my eyes.
“I’ve gotta go” I spoke watching Daisy at the punch table wave me over.
“Duty calls” Flynn said before I walked away.
“What’s wrong?” I asked the brunette reaching the table on the far end of the gym.
“I’ve gotta go to the bathroom can you serve punch for like 5 minutes”
“Sure” I smiled moving behind the table taking the apron out of her hands. I threw it over my neck attempting to tie it from the back.
“I’ve got it” Someone spoke from behind me taking the strings away and tying them in a perfect knot.
“Nick. Thank you” I simpered at the boy who moved around the table to stand in front of me.
“No problem. I’m glad I finally got you alone. You look great by the way”
“I know this apron is pretty great huh?” I toyed with the boy.
“You can make anything look good”
“I try. Punch?” I asked holding up a plastic cup.
“Please” I quickly served him a cup handing it over to him.
“Thanks. You did amazing with this whole dance”
“Yeah well Dina wanted it to be perfect since it’s our first dance of the year”
“Dina did not disappoint. Neither did you of course. Promise you’ll save me a dance” He asked my cheeks heating up.
Abruptly I felt a tap on my shoulder to see Daisy was back. I handed her back the apron before moving around the table where Nick was.
“Or we could dance now?” I suggested watching him put his cup down.
“Sounds good m’lady” He spoke sticking his hand out for me. I giggled taking it and letting him sweep me towards the dance floor.
I laughed along with him as he began to dance goofily to the music purposely.
“You have an amazing laugh”
“Nick if you don’t stop complimenting me it’s gonna look like I put on 10 pounds of blush by the end of the night”
“Well you don’t need makeup you know”
“That’s what all guys say until they see what you really look like”
“Well you’ve always been naturally beautiful. Even in 8th grade when you wore no makeup at all”
“Don’t remind me I looked terrible”
“Not to me you didn’t” He said looking into my eyes. For a split moment the world around us stopped moving and it felt like we were the only ones in the room.
At least until I felt someone bump into me pushing me forward into the boy.
“I’m so sorry” I said realizing his hands had caught my body.
“It’s cool are you okay?” He asked.
“Yeah y/n are you okay?” A familiar voice asked from behind me.
I turned around to come face to face with Carrie who stood there with a devilish look in her eye.
“I’m fine”
“Oh how unfortunate. You know I didn’t see you as the dancing type. You’ve always had two left feet”
“Leave her alone Carrie” Nick spoke attempting to move forward. I put my arm up to hold him back.
“No Nick it’s ok she’s not worth my time or yours”
“Whatever. This dance is lame anyways”
“Then maybe go home”
“I will. Nick care to join me?” She smirked dangling her plastic cup in her hands.
“No I’m having a good time here” Nick spoke intertwining his hand with mine. I looked down slightly smiling at the gesture.
“Wow. Fine have fun.......with her” Carrie said moving to pass by me.
I suddenly gasped feeling a cold sensation hit my body.
“Oops sorry” The witch spoke before walking away.
“What’s her problem?” I asked ready to go after her only to be held back.
“Hey, you said it yourself. She’s not worth our time” Nick whispered holding me by my shoulders.
“Your right. I don’t even think it’s worth trying to clean this up” I said pointing out the red stain on the side of my dress.
“Here. It isn’t exactly cute but it’ll help cover up the stain” He said putting his jean jacket over my shoulders.
“It’s perfect. Thanks Nick. For everything”
“This is one of the last few songs of the night. Dedicated to a very special friend of mine so grab your partners close and tell HIM or her how you feel” Flynn’s voice rang through the gym speakers.
A slow song beginning to play throughout the gym. Couples beginning to form on the dance floor.
I looked up at the girl on the stage to see her send me a quick wink. Playfully rolling my eyes I looked back at the boy in front of me, his hand lingering in the air.
“Can I have this dance?”
“Of course” I grinned taking it. Allowing him to pull me close.
We swayed side to side along to music with smiles plastered on our faces.
“You know I never thought I’d finally get here”
“Finally?” I asked pulling away looking up at him.
“Guess it’s now or never huh? Okay. Y/n I’ve had a crush on you for the longest time. So long Carrie started to notice. After she found out I rammed you into the lockers the other day she went crazy”
“Really? She was that jealous”
“Insanely. But after I talked to you that day I realized this crush wasn’t going anywhere”
“You know I’m really glad to hear you say that Nick cause I feel the same way”
“That’s good. Because I can finally prove you so wrong” He smirked leaning down and pulling me into a passionate kiss. The first (technically second) one of the many that were yet to come.

House Isekai: A Realm Reborn - Part 2, Through the Maelstrom (2 of 3)
House Isekai ARR Masterlist Here
Tumblr media
Client: Hilda Valentin Goneril
Refusing to work with the newly reformed House Isekai due to Class VII, Duvalie takes her orders and storms off to Goneril territory, trying to get home faster. Not wanting to leave Duvalie completely alone, Raelyn and Fireteam Alpha-Nine accompany her.
Reports indicate of a giant serpent-like beast terrorizing the ocean trade routes near Goneril territory, and an unknown entity accompanying it…
(Raelyn) “I will accompany her to ensure their survival. Until then, House Isekai.”
Raelyn turned to the portal and walked through it.
After getting the minimum knowledge required about the Abyss Mages, Buck and his squad followed her through the portal.
(Kazuma) “…Wait a second, none of them knows anything about Fodlan. Why did we let them go anywhere alone?”
(Sitri) “…That’s a good question.”
When Duvalie stepped through the portal, she was still muttering to herself angrily.
(Duvalie) "Ugh, the nerve of those people! As if we can work hand in hand like nothing's ever happened!"
Her ranting continued, even when Raelyn stepped in behind her, looking around his environment.
(Raelyn) "...Duvalie, was it?"
(Duvalie) "And that jackass, Rean! What on EARTH ever made him think we were friends?! I ought to-"
Raelyn sighed and holstered his bolter. Even his footsteps didn't alert her.
(Raelyn) "Cease your complaints."
Duvalie spun around and opened her mouth about to continue until she realized she was only up to his lower chest. Her head tilted all the way up for her to even see Raelyn's helmet.
(Duvalie) "Listen you giant yellow tin can, you don't know what they're like!"
(Raelyn) "They seem calmer than you."
(Duvalie) "Tch, whatever. Why are you even here anyway? I can handle this on my own!"
(Raelyn) "Ah, then I assume you know the layout of the land? The person we're supposed to meet? What the state of the world even is?"
(Duvalie) "...I-I...I can just figure it out myself!"
(Raelyn) "Indeed."
Raelyn turned to the portal and saw the ODST squad walk in.
(Buck) "Right, we got the information we need. As for lay of the land, think one of the locals is about to tag along."
Aigis and Kazuma were on the other side nodding about to say something before the portal suddenly closed.
(Mickey) "...Or not."
...
Everyone was confused on why the portal closed.
Sitri made sure no one was looking at her as she whispered.
(Sitri) "Sothis?"
(Sothis) "Uh, don't look at me. I wasn't even the one who opened it."
(Sitri) "Wait, then where did...?"
...
(Romeo) "Great. Now we gotta wander around and pray to god it's the right way."
(Dutch) "Not even sure the good lord would poke his head out in wherever this is."
(Duvalie) "Wha-DID THEY CLOSE THE PORTAL ON US?!"
(Raelyn) "You were the one who wanted to do this alone."
(Duvalie) "IF I WANT YOUR INPUT, I'LL ASK!"
(Buck) "Enough of the shouting already! Complaining isn't going to do us any good. Besides, we got the data we need, we'll be fine...probably."
(Duvalie) "Fine, whatever."
Duvalie had her hand on the sword sheathe as she stormed off.
(Duvalie) "Let's get going then."
(Mickey) "Wrong way. It's behind us."
Duvalie quickly marched towards the direction Mickey pointed to, muttering something.
Raelyn slowly walked up to the squad.
(Raelyn) "I cannot speak for her, but it is a pleasure to fight alongside you."
(Buck) "Feeling's mutual. Come on, we should hurry before she pops a vein."
The five walked casually behind Duvalie who stayed in the front.
Fodlan, Goneril Territory, Evening...
[Stilness of Night - Trails of Cold Steel 3 OST]
The group eventually found a path leading towards a town inside Goneril territory, and continued on it until the sun began setting.
(Buck) "Huh. Place doesn't look half bad with a sunset."
(Dutch) "Yeah, somethin' you'd see from a storybook."
(Raelyn) "I have not had the pleasure of experiencing a world as quiet as this before."
(Duvalie) "Hm. My world was something kind of like this, but not as primitive to not have lamp posts at least."
(Romeo) "Think you're the most primitive out of all of us here, lady."
(Duvalie) "Excuse me?!"
(Mickey) "Changing the subject, just how far is this place?"
(Buck) "Shouldn't be more than a few minutes. The town according to that Sitri lady is about to come into view right about...Ah, there we go."
They eventually reached the top of a hill and saw a small fishing town with the sunset directly shining on top of it.
(Raelyn) "Excellent. We should reach the town by nightfall."
They all continued walking silently until Dutch spoke up.
(Dutch) "So uh, any idea what that creature is like?"
Everyone had read the report given to them by Sitri, but no one actually knew what they were in for.
(Romeo) "It said a serpent, so maybe an underwater snake or something."
(Mickey) "We aren't strangers to alien life, but I doubt it'd be simple to kill. This place seems to have magic after all."
(Raelyn) "It matters not. If our guns can work, then we can kill it."
(Duvalie) "I'm more concerned about those weird floating chubby things the Knights of Favonius mentioned."
(Buck) "What did they call them...Abyss mages?"
(Dutch) "Think that's it. They don't seem that tough to beat."
(Romeo) "Especially when we can put a round between their eyes from a hundred yards away."
(Duvalie) "If that's the case, then why are they so dangerous?"
(Mickey) "Guess we'll find out soon. Until we actually fight one, don't think we can properly assess the situation."
Finally, they reached the town's entrance. The concrete path shook beneath their equipment, gathering strange looks from the townsfolk.
Some mothers hid their children behind them while some of the men passing by whispered to each other.
(Romeo) "Think we might be standing out a little."
(Duvalie) "You all maybe, I look perfectly fine. Might be mustard bottle over here that's getting all the looks."
(Raelyn) "...You are referring to me?"
(Duvalie) "Duh! Who did you think I meant?"
(Raelyn) "What is 'mustard'?"
(Buck) "Good lord man, just how far in the future are you?"
(Raelyn) "It is the 42nd millennium."
(Dutch) "...Damn. That explains why you don't really seem to lighten up."
They made their way to the center of town, where multiple people kept staring at them.
(Romeo) "Any particular reason why we're standing out in the open like this? Not exactly doing us any favors with the people here."
(Duvalie) "Shut it, trying to find a tavern or something. There's gotta be one here."
Mickey and Buck helped Duvalie look around their surroundings to try and find a tavern. Romeo and Dutch shrugged and made sure the townspeople weren't going to try anything.
Raelyn was about to help when he heard small footsteps approaching.
It was two children who were chasing each other, most likely playing. They had failed to notice the offworlders they were running towards until a girl hit her head on Raelyn's leg.
(Girl) "Ow...! What in-"
Her eyes went wide when she stared up at the 8 foot tall Space Marine looking down on her.
Both the kids look terrified until Raelyn knelt down, trying to get on their eye level the best he could while taking off his helmet. He made sure his Bolter was strapped to his back.
(Raelyn) "My apologies. Are you hurt?"
(Girl) "N-...No sir."
Raelyn offered a hand to the girl. His hand was massive compared to the child, he could effortlessly crush her head with one hand.
Yet, he was extremely gentle in making sure not to harm or intimidate the children, the girl grabbing his hand and standing up.
(Raelyn) "If I can bother you for a moment more, do you know where the Tavern is?"
(Boy) "Um...It's to your right, mister. The building next to the docks."
Raelyn nodded and motioned away from them.
(Raelyn) "Thank you. Get home safe, now."
(Girl) "Thank you, mister."
The two kids appeared to be put at ease despite the size difference, and continued playing as if nothing happened. Something that shocked the adults watching.
The ODST's and Duvalie watched the exchange and were surprised that this walking ton of armor managed not to utterly terrify the two kids.
(Raelyn) "You have your tavern. Let us get to it."
(Duvalie) "...Right."
They continued off to the Tavern, still noticing all the adults watching them, albeit slightly more at ease.
(Romeo) "Now that sweet moment's over, time to see how well you work with a bar full of drunkards, big guy."
(Dutch) "Come on, I'm great with people."
(Mickey) "Sure, you are. How about Raelyn? Actually can he even get through the door?"
Duvalie was the first to enter, followed by the ODST's with Raelyn the last one.
He stared awkwardly at the doorframe, and back to his armor.
Even if he tried to crouch, he would break the doorframe.
(Raelyn) "I...will keep watch out here."
(Romeo) "Put those people skills to work."
(Buck) "Think you should be worried about doing that yourself."
[Another Round - Final Fantasy XIV OST]
Everyone inside the bar stopped talking when they saw Duvalie march in with the ODST's.
Duvalie saw the bartender and sat down on a stool.
The bartender was a bald middle aged man who had clearly seen better days. He had a scar over his left eye and a beard that was barely kept clean.
(Bartender) "...Can I help you with something missie?"
(Duvalie) "We're here on request of...what was her name?"
Buck stood next to Duvalie, making his visor visible so the bartender could see his mouth.
(Buck) "Hilda. Ring a bell?"
(Bartender) "Ah, Lord Holst's sister. And who exactly do I owe the pleasure of speaking to?"
(Duvalie) "I'm Duvalie."
(Buck) "Call me Buck, and this is my Squad. Fella outside is with us too."
(Bartender) "I see. And another question, who exactly ya workin' for? Don't see people dressed like yer group at all."
The people in the nearby tables began whispering. Mickey was the furthest from the group but he was only able to hear snippets of conversations.
(Man) "Hey, you think those are those House Isekai freaks? The ones from the calamity?"
(Man 2) "They sure as hell don't belong here, that's for sure!"
(Man 3) "Worse, they could be spies for the seppies'!"
(Mickey) "Think we might got a problem..."
Duvalie was clearly getting impatient, and before she could open her mouth and start a bar brawl, Buck butted in.
(Buck) "Mercenaries. We work for money."
The bartender raised an eyebrow as he eyed them up and down. Finally shrugging, he dropped the question.
(Bartender) "Fair enough. We'll send a letter to let 'em know people have arrived to take care of the problem. Shouldn't be more than a day or so. Now, ya buying something or am I going to have ta' throw your asses out?"
(Duvalie) "Hmph. Thought bartenders were supposed to be friendly."
(Bartender) "And I thought customers were supposed to be paying."
Now Dutch decided to intervene.
(Dutch) "Apologies for the lady. She's got a temper on her. Surprise us."
(Bartender) "Can do. You got gold?"
Everyone looked at each other awkwardly.
(Romeo) "Oh you have got to be kidding..."
(Buck) "Think we can get this one on the house?"
(Bartender) "This isn't a charity. And you're mercenaries, right? Surely you got some gold on you to get all the equipment on yourselves."
This got more people talking, and it was clear some of them were getting riled up.
Raelyn could hear the conversation from outside, and saw some of the adults from earlier getting a closer look at him.
(Raelyn) "..."
Raelyn's visor picked up more signatures. Some of them were armed. He used one hand to knock on the doorframe, alerting Romeo and Mickey.
(Romeo) "Hey, Gunny. Think things are about to get real ugly."
One of the customers stood up from his table and shouted with an ale cup in hand.
(Man) "Come on, pay the damn drink and quit causing a scene! Mercs always got coin on them! You one of those damn offworlders?!"
(Man 2) "Nah, worse than one, he's a seppie!"
(Man 3) "WE DON'T WANT ANYMORE TO DO WITH YOU, KEEP YOUR SEPARATIST MOVEMENT OUT OF HERE!"
More and more people riled up, making the ODST's keep a finger on their triggers.
Duvalie kept her cool on the outside, ready to lash out if someone dared make a move.
Raelyn grabbed his Bolter and calmly held it in his hands, watching everyone suddenly stiffen up.
(Bartender) "...Well?"
(Woman's voice) "Sorry, sorry. We'll pay, they're with us."
Everyone suddenly turned to a girl who seemingly appeared out of nowhere, putting gold onto the table.
Duvalie made a noise that no one could decipher if it was a swear or a gasp.
Buck turned to the girl who had just saved them from a potential firefight.
[End Song]
Tumblr media
(White-haired girl) "They just forgot to bring their gold with them...Again."
(Bartender) "Hmph. Aren't you a little young to be the boss of a mercenary team, kid?"
(White-haired girl) "Could say the same for the second Blade Breaker."
(Bartender) "Hah, got me there."
(Duvalie) "I...You...!?"
(White-haired girl) "If you wanna complain, do it later and not in front of customers. Gives us a bad rep."
(Buck) "...Thanks boss."
Everyone quickly played along.
As Raelyn was about to point the Bolter at everyone, two more people got in front of him, motioning to the left.
(Blue haired girl) "Hey, got our room. Quit standing around all scary-like."
(Orange haired boy) "Come on, it's this way!"
The orange haired boy winked at Raelyn, and having no better idea, he played along.
The blue haired girl looked at Fie and nodded.
The white haired girl slid the gold to the Bartender and sighed.
(White-haired girl) "We'll take it to go. Keep the change."
The white haired girl turned to the group and pointed at the blue haired girl.
(White-haired girl) "Follow her and don't cause a scene again."
Duvalie looked like she was about to scream when she saw the blue haired girl. Not wanting to deal with this mob, Buck shoved her along.
(Duvalie) "H-Hey, what the?!"
(Buck) "Shut the hell up and move it, the last thing we want to do is start a fight!"
The ODST's, Raelyn, and Duvalie followed the orange haired boy to what appeared to be a rented out building. Amazingly, Raelyn could actually fit through the door.
When everyone was situated, the blue haired girl put a device on the door and window, and with a little static noise, she nodded in satisfaction.
Tumblr media
(Elliot) "Whew, man! Things looked SUPER bad there..."
Tumblr media
(Laura) "Oh...It's you. That would explain how the townspeople became aggravated so quickly."
(Duvalie) "Believe me, you lot are doing the same to me...!"
(Elliot) "Wait...Duvalie?!"
(Romeo) "Jesus lady, just who DON'T you know?"
(Raelyn) "More friends like Rean, I presume?"
(Duvalie) "WE ARE NOT FRIENDS!"
(Buck) "Clearly. Anyways, thanks for pulling our asses out the fire. Where's that white haired one?"
The door opened, and she was carrying some mugs of ale in her hand.
Tumblr media
(Fie) "...Hey."
She casually gave most of the group their mugs, leaving Duvalie without one.
(Duvalie) "...Really?"
(Fie) "Figured you didn't want one...Actually, we didn't figure you'd be here at all."
(Romeo) "That's great and all, but mind explaining just who you people are?"
(Elliot) "I'm Elliot! That's Fie and Laura, and we were part of the original House Isekai. Class VII, to be specific."
(Dutch) "And clearly you know Duvalie."
(Laura) "For better or worse..."
(Raelyn) "Seeing the situation we are in, I would rather not alienate the only help at talking to the locals here."
Despite the fact he had a helmet, she could feel a piercing gaze shoot straight through her.
(Buck) "Agreed. So, what brings people such as yourselves here?"
(Fie) "Hm. Long story short-..."

Doomguy's Base, 1 Day Earlier...
Tumblr media
[Briefing Time - Trails of Cold Steel 3 OST]
(VEGA) "All attempts of establishing a secure line has failed. It appears something is blocking our ability to respond."
Doomguy frowned as he checked the screens. Nothing was damaged on anyone's end, yet he was only able to receive Sitri's distress call.
He said nothing as he turned to the teleporter. It appears someone was finally arriving.
(VEGA) "Signatures detected. Class VII members: Elliot, Laura, and Fie. Authorize access?"
Doomguy nodded as he put his helmet on, letting the three former House Isekai members materialize onto the pad.
The first one was Laura, quickly followed by Elliot and Fie. Elliot appeared to be staggered while the other two were barely fazed.
(Elliot) "Oh man, still not used to that!"
(Fie) "Doubt we ever will."
(Laura) "Instructor. It's been quite some time."
They turned their attention to Doomguy who gave them a nod.
(VEGA) "It is a pleasure to see you all well."
(Laura) "Likewise. I only wish the circumstances were better."
(Fie) "Tried contacting everyone else we could, but they were either busy or didn't respond at all, so for now we're all you're getting.
(Elliot) "We received a distress call from Sitri. Is everything alright in Fodlan?"
Doomguy shrugged and motioned for them to follow him out the room.
(VEGA) "A distress signal was sent out, and normally we would have been able to respond, but an unknown variable has been preventing us from doing so. However, we are still able to keep track of any movement via teleportation of former House Isekai members."
(Fie) "If it has the ability to block dimensional calling, that's pretty strong, whatever it is."
(Laura) "Has anyone else been able to respond this entire time?
(VEGA) "Yes. Rean Schwarzer, Towa Herschel, Satou Kazuma, and Aigis have been the only four to do so."
(Elliot) "That explains why we couldn't call Rean and Towa."
(Laura) "Aigis I can understand, but for Kazuma to show up? That surprises me."
(Fie) "Guessing you haven't been able to ask them what's going on either?"
(VEGA) "Your assumption is correct."
(Fie) "Guess that means we gotta get our hands dirty."
Fie checked her gunblades and stretched her arms.
(Laura) "Hopefully combat won't be necessary."
(Elliot) "Buuut that doesn't really seem possible, if I'm being honest. Trouble tends to follow us no matter where we go."
Doomguy checked his shotgun's ammo as he opened up the door to another teleportation chamber.
(VEGA) "We thank you for responding regardless, but we will ask if you may investigate this phenomenon on our behalf."
(Fie) "Sure. Things are pretty stable back home."
(Elliot) "So, if we're going into Fodlan, how are we going to keep in contact?"
(VEGA) "We are assuming there will be a total communications blackout. If you do not respond within a week in Fodlan's time, we will directly intervene."
(Laura) "All right then. Looks like our goals are to find former House Isekai members and find out what's going on."
(VEGA) "Affirmative."
(Fie) "Mission parameters established then. Let's begin."
(VEGA) "...Strange. There appears to be a teleportation to the Goneril territory."
(Elliot) "What's so weird about it?"
(VEGA) "It was not activated by Sothis, but rather the tower itself."
(Everyone) ?
(Laura) "But there is no one there. Right? Instructor Byleth made sure of that."
(Fie) "Guess that's another thing we gotta investigate. First let's head to where that teleportation took place.."
(Elliot) "That's Hilda's last name, isn't it?"
(VEGA) "Hilda Valentine Goneril. Unofficial retainer to Claude Von Riegan."
Doomguy stood behind a console and pressed several buttons and looked at the members of Class VII.
(Elliot) "So three things to do, got it! We'll see you soon!"
(VEGA) "Good luck, Class VII."
Doomguy gave them a thumbs up before he pulled the lever.
They were absorbed into a beam of light and were taken to the location VEGA reported...
...
===
(Buck) "So...that portal wasn't theirs?"
(Fie) "No. Something else pulled you here, and we came to find out why, among other things."
(Elliot) "On top of that, we have to find out specifically why you all were brought here. Our group didn't have much reason other than it being chance but yours it seems almost deliberate."
(Raelyn) "I fail to think of anything unique happening to where I'd be brought into a world like this."
(Dutch) "Same with us."
(Duvalie) "Agreed..."
(Laura) "Well, despite the unusual circumstances that has brought us here, the former members of House Isekai ask to join forces with your group."
(Raelyn) "No objections here."
(Romeo) "It's either work together or be stuck in this place forever, so we might as well."
(Mickey) "You got our support."
The ODST's and Raelyn turned to Duvalie.
She crossed her arms, barely able to keep her anger down.
(Buck) "How old are you, exactly?"
(Duvalie) "SHUT UP! FINE! FINE! WHATEVER, YAAY WE'RE BEST FRIENDS! NOW ENOUGH!"
(Elliot) "Hah...g-glad to see she hasn't...changed?"
(Raelyn) "There is nothing about her personality that I have seen thus far that you should be glad about, Elliot."
(Duvalie) "EXCUSE ME?!-"

"Can't you guys just do whatever you want? It's not like I would know anything about organizing events like this. Yeah, I know I signed up for it but— Kunikida-kun, this is torture! You're bullying your author! I'm gonna die of a heart attack… Yes, yes, I'll do it, geez."
Dazai had been on the phone with his editor for the better part of the last two hours. Atsushi watched him pace around the low table of the living room. If it were possible, he would've digged holes with the force of his footsteps alone. After that last sentence, Dazai cycled through a series of empty "uh huh", "yes", "alright", until he finally put the phone down with a sigh.
"Atsushi-kun…" Dazai whined. He slumped, then crouched, then finally lied down with his face to the floor. "This is unbearable."
"Is Kunikida-san being strict as usual?"
"As usual? It's much worse than that!" Dazai slapped the floor weakly. "Just because it's almost New Year, it shouldn't affect my schedule. But I have the deal with the manga department now, and I'm technically the co-author, plus they can't get anything through without my approval. I've been pulled into their holiday season events, it's awful."
Atsushi, feeling sympathy for the clearly overworked author, padded his way and joined Dazai on the floor. He sat down on his knees and patted Dazai's head gently.
"Thank you for your hard work."
Dazai gurgled some sound that Atsushi couldn't decipher the meaning of, and made no further attempt to communicate. Atsushi continued to play with Dazai's hair until he had wallowed long enough to feel ready to roll over and look up at Atsushi. There were clear dark circles under his eyes.
"This is what happens when you actually do your work," Dazai whispered mutinously.
Atsushi laughed and threatened to let his editor know he said that. Dazai, betrayed, pinched Atsushi's thigh. Because Atsushi was a good person and he loved his partner very much, he ignored the sting and leaned down to kiss Dazai's cheek.
"Would you let me do a photoshoot with you?" Atsushi asked.
Dazai lolled his head to nuzzle against Atsushi's knee. He looked up at Atsushi questioningly. "Right now?"
"Only if you want to," Atsushi reassured. "Nothing fancy, you don't even need to change clothes. I think it'd be a nice distraction."
Dazai hummed; Atsushi felt the vibrations up his leg. He squirmed a little.
"If it is your desire, then it is also mine, there's no request I would refuse except for those that cause you harm," Dazai said in a low voice. It sounded like a quote, maybe from something he was working with. Though, it could just as easily be something he came up with on the spot. It was hard to tell, with Dazai.
"You're really too much," Atsushi admonished.
Dazai laughed, tired but carefree. "If you insist, then, in normal terms that's a yes."
"Let me get my camera."
Atsushi got up to do that and changed the lens to one of his best ones. Besides that, Atsushi didn't bother with any other equipment, though the lights and reflectors that seemed to be in Dazai's place more than his own were readily available. These pictures were just for himself, so he would work with whatever lighting there was.
(There was a special allure to Dazai that couldn't be captured quite right in artificial light.)
Dazai was still in the same spot when Atsushi came back, drawing invisible patterns with his index finger and whispering to himself.
Atsushi waited until he stopped to ask, "New idea?"
"A flash of inspiration that might save me from my writer's block in the future."
"That's some powerful inspiration."
Dazai raised his hand to Atsushi, who helped him up by the arm. Dazai rose in a smooth arc, directly into Atsushi's embrace. Atsushi poked him the ribs and pushed him away.
"I can't take your picture with you clinging to me like that."
"Ah, love is such a fickle and cruel thing," Dazai said. Despite his words, he stole a kiss as soon as Atsushi's attention flickered to his camera. "What do you have in mind this time?"
"Something for the New Years sounds fitting."
Atsushi explained what he had imagined, and Dazai, knowing the layout of his own house much better than Atsushi, suggested the locations that would be most fitting for the setting. It was a good thing that Dazai already wore a kimono as his default outfit, with the addition of his most comfortable haori and a fortune charm that he held in his calloused right hand, it made for enough of a nice image to go with the theme. Atsushi held back from saying anything when Dazai held the charm to his lips in an almost kiss, his eyelashes lowered delicately.
Not for the first time, Atsushi was impressed by the sheer size of Dazai's house. Every time they did one of these photoshoots, Atsushi felt the house became warmer; all the corners that were too empty, too sparse were filled with movement. The ghosts lingered less like this.
For the final picture, Atsushi directed Dazai back to the low table. Thankfully, the sliding door facing the garden let in enough light to capture Dazai in the gray hues of winter with his face half illuminated by it. It made for a pretty picture, even if Dazai ruined the atmosphere by biting into a mandarin like he would an apple. Atsushi's eyebrow twitched.
"Atsushi-kun, this isn't even an actual kotatsu," Dazai complained as he flopped down while Atsushi checked the last series of pictures. "This entire photoshoot is a sham."
Atsushi paused to raise his eyebrows at Dazai. He looked pointedly at the low table. "So now you admit it's not a kotatsu?"
"Well, it has the table and the warm blanket over it. It's close enough, right?" Dazai patted the tabletop. "This does the job nicely. Why would I buy a new one just for the heater?"
"You could just buy a heater by itself."
"Irrelevant."
"You're just a cheapskate."
Dazai snorted inelegantly. In this position, lying as he was, his hair fell over his eyes, half obscuring them. Both his arms were held above his head, and the sleeves of his kimono slid down to reveal rolls of bandages; the dip went low enough that Atsushi wondered if he would see a grimplss of naked skin, if he tilted his head just right. As if catching on to his thoughts, Dazai watched him like a hawk, his eyes half-lidded. There was a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Atsushi made a gesture for Dazai not to move, and raised his camera to capture that expression. As he stared at the resulting picture, Atsushi thought that, out of all the other pictures, this was the one he specially wouldn't show to anyone.
"Atsushi-kun, you're getting some sort of impure thought, aren't you?" Dazai teased.
Atsushi coughed lightly. "I'm not."
"You always get this guilty look when you do it, just so you know," he helpfully informed.
Atsushi quickly turned his head. "It's just your impression."
Dazai wormed his way to Atsushi, shuffling about on his elbows. Atsushi finally relaxed from the awkward pose he had forced his legs into to get the frame he'd wished for. As soon as Atsushi let go of the camera, Dazai reached for his hand.
"Hm." Dazai poked each of Atsushi's fingers with his own. "Did that make you feel better?"
Arsushi blinked in confusion. "I'm the one who should be asking you that."
"You really shouldn't!"
"I thought you were doing this to help you forget all the publishing stress?"
Dazai gave him an indulgent smile. He let go of Atsushi's hand to reach for his camera, hanging from Atsushi's neck. Atsushi, even though still confused, lowered his head so Dazai could remove the camera. He set it aside a safe distance away from them, and pulled Atsushi down so they were in pile on the floor. Dazai wrapped an arm around Atsushi's waist.
"You get so focused on others you don't even notice your own stress, do you? It's not the worst coping mechanism, but it does make you quite oblivious your own feelings." Dazai let his words sink in before adding, "It's okay if you're not doing your best."
Atsushi inhaled carefully. Dazai's orange-like scent clung to his lungs. He relaxed onto Dazai's body.
"I dislike winter," Atsushi confessed. "It makes me think of being cold and hungry. I… I feel a lot better when I don't have to think about it."
Dazai tightened his grip. "Alright. Then I'm glad to be a distraction." He paused. "Ohhh, maybe I should start writing poems. My specialty is prose first and foremost, but I'm sure I could pull it off. I'd give you a bunch of lovesick poems, and then you'd be too preoccupied being completely, utterly in love with me."
"I'm already completely, utterly in love with you, Dazai-san."
"Then completely, utterly, ultra in love with me."
"I'm pretty sure you just want an excuse to procrastinate your new manuscript."
Arsushi couldn't see it, but he just knew Dazai was grinning. "Just a little bit. Ah, but I'm serious. You always look at peace when you take pictures of me—does wonder for my ego, by the way—, so I'm glad to be your model when you need it."
"That's because…" Atsushi took a moment to compose his words in a way that would make sense. "Usually you take pictures to feel nostalgic about the past, knowing that moment will never come back. When I take your picture, it's more like proof."
"Proof of what?"
"That I still love you, just like I loved you then. Just like I'll love you tomorrow. I think the stability of it gives me comfort when everything else is hectic."
Silence.
"Dazai-san?"
Atsushi pushed himself to his elbows. Dazai was quietly glaring at him, his face pink. Atsushi was stunned. He tried to reach for his camera, but Dazai gripped both his wrists.
"I can't handle you sometimes," Dazai managed to croak out. "I'm going to make a character who is pretty much you, and pair him with a self-insert, then have a tragic, dramatic love story for them. Don't test me."
Atsushi giggled. "Don't threaten me just because you're shy!"
"Atsushi-kun, I don't have a single shy bone in my body, take that back!"
Atsushi just watched with fondness as Dazai went on a tirade on all the ridiculous antics he would put his characters through. Atsushi chose not to let him know his heartbeat was frantic in his chest.
I love you, it wanted to say. I love you and you're wonderful.

Merry Christmas! (Idk? Part 2)
Okay so I’ve been working on this for two days (two nights technically-) so sorry for misspelling or if it’s pretty crazy. Like all over the place crazy. I don’t write with a plan, that’s never fun in my opinion. So anyway, Merry Christmas! I hope this was a good gift to the few that wanted a second part!
Walking down the corridor, Dib realized that it wasn't just the high schoolers from the dance that got taken. He saw adults from stores he'd visited and fast food workers. There where even kids, no older than 5, crying in corners in a cell with strangers. Seeing this, and the faces given to him for walking 'free', made his gut twist and turn. The betrayed look, the hatred, it was something he hadn't seen in years. The hatred at least, the betrayal was new but very unwelcome. And could he blame them for feeling that way? No, he would too if he saw a another human walking next to a guard with no restrains.
So the boy kept his gaze ahead of himself, staring at the door at then of the hall. He would set them all free, one way or another, all that training during his pursuit of Zim would finally come in handy. But for now, he had to be tactical and see where he was going and what they were going to do to him.
"Move faster." A gruff voice grumbled behind him, a heavy hand placed in his shoulder and pushing him forwards. It hadn't been much strength behind that push but Dib could tell this alien could easily crush his skull if it wanted. Made him wonder why this alien was even hear, with that kind of strength he could easily leave. But, there was strength in numbers, so it wasn't hard to really grasp why this big alien was here still.
"I'm going, jeez." Dib huffed, shaking the aliens hand off his shoulder and walking faster. Beyond the door, was a rather big room with four doors. Even a little room with computers where a pink alien watched the screens, only looking up when the two had reached a sliding door. The pink alien had reached over with one of its extra arms and pressed a button to allow the door to slide open. An elevator, barely big enough for the alien escorting Dib. The boy thought for a moment that he'd be going up alone, but being squashed against the far wall of the elevator proved him wrong. 'Isn't this humiliating.' Dib thought, tensing when the aliens hand pressed against his back. Warning signals blared in his mind, more so when he felt something he slipped into his pants.
He had not time to react, the elevator doors opening and he was pushed out. Handed off to a different alien who found it necessary to cuff him. But he didn't acknowledge that to much, his mind racing with what could be in his pants now. It felt flat and when he was pushed into walking, he felt shark corners. However, with each set it moved farther down his pants, to which he quickly pressed his hands against his butt pocket to stop it. 'What the hell is this?!'
"My tallest, the human you requested." Dib could tell this wasn't their usual hang out area, it was far to close to the prison cells. The human could only guess they had come, guessing Zim had told them enough about himself to make them be cautious. Rightfully so, anymore sight seeing of this ship and Dib would have had a better idea of how to free everyone.
"You were shorter last we saw." Purple looked Dib over, both nearly the same height. However, the tallest's where an inch taller than Dib.
"Last you saw was over a screen nearly 5 years ago." Dib replied, keeping any snarky or rudeness out of his tone. It would be best not to anger them just yet. "Why was I requested?"
"Zim won't tell us what he's done with the information he stole, all data of it has been erased from his pak. You were the only human he talked so fondly of so you are going to get that information from him." Red stated, glaring at the human. Dib opened his mouth to speak but shut it quickly after. There were a few ideas that came to mind, but only one really stuck with him. One that would really make everyone feel betrayed but it was for a good cause.
"Fine, I'll get the information. But," That didn't make the tallest happy, but Red motioned for him to continue. Willing to listen to his demands. "I get to be one of your soldier's." He internally cringed after saying that, hating it more than anything. But he felt this was the best way to get everyone to safety, maybe even free other plants if things really went well.
"That requires skills and training that you don't have and-"
"If you can beat our best soldier with you hands bound then you'll be one of us."
"Purple! You.." Red sighed, seeing as there was not taking it back now. And he had faith that their best soldier would win, especially since the humans hands were bound. "Fine, Nyx!" A little Irken with a tray strapped to its head came running over, shaking slightly. "Take this human to the training deck. That's where the fight will be held."
——
The layout of the ship seemed fairly easy to navigate, but with all the twists and turns the Irken had taken him down, it would be a miracle if he remembered the way. But he had bigger issues right now, and that was the fight he was about to have. If their best soldier was anything like Tak, then Dib felt he might not be able to do this. That irken had been a nightmare to deal with, granted that was during the time he was young with no fight training behind him. But still, he had a disadvantage with his hands tied.
"This is the training room." The little Irken known as Nyx said, pushing Dib through the doors. There were a few Irken in the room, and a few aliens Dib didn't know that race of. Though, it did hit Dib with the realization that maybe their best soldier wasn't an Irken at all. It could be possible, given the various alien types in the room. "I hope you have nothing to lose." And then Nyx was gone, rushing out the doors like a bat out of hell. The only thing Dib had to lose was his sister and dad, but when it all came down to it, did he even have them? They weren't exactly the nicest to be around, or weren't even there to begin with.
Dib turned his attention back to the aliens in the room, all looking at him and examining him. So he did the same, looking each and everyone of them over. None of them looked strong, but from years of fighting Zim, he knew better than to assume ones strength by looks. The others decided he wasn't worth their time and continued on with their training, giving Dib the opportunity to not only watch their fighting styles but to also retrieve the thing in his pants.
It had been a chip of some sort, small and black with blue lines in it. He couldn't get a better look with his hands bound behind him, and struggling to look at it would cause suspicion so Dib shoved it into his back pocket for later. 'Why did he give it to me?' More questions like that rang through his head, none of which he could think of a good answer for. However, he felt this had to be tied to the information Zim had stolen, it couldn’t be anything else and if it was then he’d be surprised.
“This won’t be to the death,” Tallest Red’s voice started Dib, the boy quickly turning to look at the alien. “And if you fail, you’re still going to get that information.” Definitely a threat, Dib could tell by the edge and glare. He didn’t expect any less, Red always did seem like the more stern and cut throat kind of leader over the calls he dropped in on. So Dib only nodded his head in agreement to that, knowing better than to buck the system at this point. It was one against thousands and there was no way he’d win that kind of fight.
“One round,” Purple butted in, his eyes looking towards one of the bigger aliens in the room. And when the other acknowledged Purple, they were motioned over. Dib was a quick to assume this was their great soldier, sizing the taller alien up. This one held a bored expression, brownish green skin marked up with scars. “First one pinned to the ground looses.” They where just wanting him to loose, making this situation even more difficult that it had to be and unfair as hell. Nevertheless, both nodded to the conditions and where moved to the center of the training room.
The few aliens that where in the room still had quickly moved any equipment out of the way, pushing everything against the walls. The human watched as one pulled a whistle from its pocket, coming to stand by the Tallest’s. As they talked about the terms of what should happen, Dib glanced at the bigger alien in front of him. They were taller, had more muscles on them and a lizard like tail. He’d have to avoid that, as well as block any attacks. One hit from this alien could probably knock him out cold.
Dib mimicked his opponent and got ready for when the whistle would be blown. His stance, unlike the other, was less menacing and looked similar to one a racer would take except he wasn’t as hunched over. But when the whistle was blown, the boy tensed up at having the bigger alien rush him. However, he didn’t freeze in place, noticing quickly how the alien left it’s torso and legs exposed. It was sad when all the human had to do was side step the alien and trip them, a loud thud echoing in the room. But a win was a win, and Dib was quick to stand on the aliens back to keep it down. ‘This was anticlimactic.’ He thought, hearing a second whistle blow and quickly stepping down from the aliens back. “I think you need better soldiers.” The remark earned him a nice slap to the face, from Tallest Purple who clearly didn’t like his soldiers being insulted.
——
When the human had said he wanted to be a soldier, he hadn’t expected them to immediately gear him up. He had been un-cuffed and given a soldier outfit that looked like a mech suit but more fitted in a way. Less bulky and more movable. From the neck to the torso was blue, with an Irken soldier symbol indented in the middle of the chest. And since he had no pak, there where three holes where the pak would have been placed. It was easily covered by the pak shell built into the suit, meant for protecting a pak of course.
If it wasn’t for this suit being Irken made, Dib would have been stoked to wear it. But it only made him feel bad, like he was really betraying his people. ‘It’s for the best.’ He kept telling himself, keeping a straight face as he was lead to the room Zim was being held in.
From what his guide was telling him, this ‘room’ was meant for holding the worse prisoners and for creatures that would be later tested on. They had bring Zim into an interrogation room, which Dib wondered why he wasn’t there to begin with. Having any living thing isolated with nothing to do felt like a better thinking punishment than being in a room with others. He thought that way until he saw just was this room was like.
Fifty or more orbs filled the room, some bigger than others and all where floating a good 5 feet off the found. The room was fairly cold and the few workers he saw wore far more than he thought was necessary. But these were Irken workers, and from what he’s learned from Zim, Irkens were cold blooded creatures.
“This might take a second.” The guide told him, starting the boy a bit. They had reached Zim’s pod, a screen projecting from the pod to make a holographic keyboard. Dib paid more attention to Zim, noticing how the aliens breathing was slow and almost nonexistent. He didn’t move a muscle, curled into a ball and looking actually comfortable. The pod, like all the others, where filled with plush looking blankets. Dib wondered why they gave these prisoners nice blankets, they where the worst so shouldn’t they have the worst?
There was a loud, echoing ‘psh’ sound as the orb cracked open. A once seamless circle now had a prominent line around its middle, and soon it had no top when the Irken guide lifted it open. Dib watched as cuffs were put on the aliens small wrists, a groan leaving the waking Irken. Zim wasn’t given time to completely gather himself, pulled from the plush blankets and onto the hard floor with thud. Dib could only watch as his Irken guide yanked the taller Irken to his feet and started dragging him from the room. It barely gave Dib time to react, but he was able to quickly follow after the two.
The interrogation room was right across the hall and in the room was a chain welded to the ground. No seats or a table, just that, which Zim was cuffed to by the time Dib fully got into the room. “Take as long as you need.” The guide then left, a click of the door signally their complete departure. And the two finally looked at each other, Zim’s eyes widening as he looked Dib over. The humans could see a look of a betrayal in the fake contacts, the alien quickly glaring at him and attempting to cross his arms.
“All those years of stopping me and look at you know.” Zim hissed, yanking at the chains even though it was useless.
“Shut up, I have a plan and that involves doing this.” Dib said as he motioned to the suit he was wearing. “But seriously, what the fuck did you do? What information was so important that they come to earth just to get you?” The human demanded, watching as Zim glared off to the side. He looked like a scolded child who got more angry than upset.
“Why should I tell you anything? I’m going to be erased no matter what happens.” Dib was shocked to see the tears spill from Zims eyes. He’d never seen the Irken cry before. “I’d rather die than ruin everything we’ve been working towards.”
‘We?’

Today was a pretty excellent day. I had work but it was an excellent shift.
I slept pretty good. But getting up was really hard. James helped me get up. He made me a sandwich. And I got dressed. Wore the skirt I made yesterday. Felt cute.
It was warm out today. But my ride down to the museum was nice. And i got to work setting up the tour. Ran into the other educators. I was only scheduled for one tour today and it was a senior group! I hadnt had one before and I was excited!
And I was right to be! They were so nice. They got here about a half an hour early and they all had to use the bathroom which was very funny. Some of them were actually only like 70 not as old as I was anticipating. But they were all so nice and so sweet. One of the guys in the group was very skinny and tall and had suspenders on. He was very nice to me. He kept telling me how happy I seemed and how I just seem to love life. And that made me feel good. We broke them into two groups and that man and his wife are on my tour and everyone else was swimming. I also have the only two African American women on my tour, who was a mother and daughter. The mother being very very very old and in a wheelchair. It was really interesting the house an older black person on my tour but especially a woman. So I made sure I looked at her face when I said stuff to hear her reaction and kind of see if I was going in the right direction. We're trying to make a concerted effort at the Museum to find ways to talk about the African American story in the industries. And right now I only have a few places so I'm trying to do more research there.
The tour went great. Had a great time talking to them I got laughs and gasps and good questions and statements. They seemed really interested and I just had a really good time talking to them. It was a lot of fun.
And Liz from access art was there! Not on my tour but on an educator strip. A bunch of teachers from different schools with Baltimore city were taking a trip to see what the field trips were like. It was so nice to see her. And I was able to talk to her at the end of my tour and kind of ask some questions about what she's doing and how things are going with her. And encourage her to request me as an educator if she does bring a field trip group there to the museum. And we talked about a little bit of the African American storytelling that I brought up and she thinks that it's great and on her mural tour she's writing something very similar about printmaking so I might try to go on that tour when I get started to get some more information.
After I was done talking to Liz I went back over to my group who was just kind of hanging out waiting for the other half to be done. And the old man came up to me to just tell me how much he enjoyed the tour and he gave me $7. He didn't have to give me any money. So I gave him a hug. It was very nice of him. I actually got a couple hugs. Including from one woman who reminded me of my Grandma Rose a lot and felt like my grandma Rose when she hugged me. Like hard but her skin was soft. Like squishy soft. XU had a layer squish. That doesn't make any sense in sounds terrible but it was a really nice. I like old people.
We finished up and we talked about a couple more things while the other group got together. They went and watched a little movie in a theater and then they left.
I finished up and headed across the street to the bike store to get bolts and inner tubes. And it was hot outside! Like really bad. So I decided I would like halfway home and stop for food somewhere cold. Something with air conditioning. So we went to Xs which is kind of fusion Diner / sushi bar.
My poor waitress was so stressed out. The restaurant is 3 1/2 fours and they had sat me at the bar on the first floor and she was taking orders from both the first and the third floor. And she was really stressed and she kept apologizing. And I told her it would be easier if I just moved to the third floor. And she kept saying no no don't do that and I was like no it was going to make it better I'll do that I don't mind so I moved up to the top floor to try to make her life better. But she was obviously frazzled. So I ended up giving her my $7 tip that I got at the Museum because I felt like she needed it. Need a little bit of a pick-me-up. And I just tried to keep telling her that she was doing a good job and not to worry. I hope it helped brighten her day a little bit.
I came home after that. And when I walked into the apartment the mail person was there. It's a woman. And I asked her about a note that I had had written on one of my packages and she had no idea what it was about so must have been something before I even got to her. She was really nice.
But then I got like inside the building proper and it was filled with smoke. Like I was concerned there was a fire smoke. I got up to my apartment and there's no smoking here thankfully. So then I went up to the third floor and Nicholas and Kimberly who are upstairs neighbors, I'm at Kimberly for the first time this morning on my way out, were opening all the windows because apparently they had burnt pancakes.
They are so cute. They have snakes and plants everywhere and a pet rat and their apartment is just the epitome of a happy Haven. It is filled with crystals and tapestries and hippie stuff. It was wonderful. And they're both so sweet. They invited me inside so I could see the layout of their apartment and they said that if I ever wanted to come up and hang out and they even have a comfy chair and a bookshelf in the hallway that they call their free library and it's all like a vegetarian and vegan cookbooks and meditation books and it was so funny. I'm going to take him up on that though because they seem great and I want to be their friend.
They had to head out though so I came back down to the apartment. I took a bath and cooled off. I've mostly been chilling. I watched videos Frozen I tried to install the pull up bar but I decided I didn't like it in this one doorway so I'm going to move it to the other doorway. I had to repaint part of the wall because of this but that's fine. I change the eyes on the kitty pillow that James got me again. Made them a little smaller and I think it looks better now. I did a little bit of my collage I played with sweet pea. I rested in bed for a while. And then I remembered I need to switch the renter's insurance over and it was a whole thing online and it wouldn't work so I had to call in the woman I talked to you was very nice and I was able to move the insurance policy to this apartment and add James to it. So we are protected again.
I'm just kind of been having a nice afternoon though. James should be home soon. I will fix his bike and maybe I'll work on some art some more. I hope I sleep good. I have the morning off and then I'm doing tours in the afternoon. Going to bring my book with me and maybe it'll just be chill. Or maybe I'll give a couple tours or maybe I won't. You never know.
I hope you all have a great night. Keep sending those Good Vibes. Sleep well.
