They're Back
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vampire female reader x Mikael (+ the siblings)
Summary: au where Mikael is a good dad and married the reader who has been like a mother to his kids for a thousand years.
He's never beaten, treated them horribly, or try to kill them. And Esther is the one who forced vampirism and killed all of them.
A/n: I'm experimenting with an idea I had in the middle of the night. Please leave feedback and if you would maybe want a second part.
We're also gonna pretend that rhe picture isn't Balthazar
Warnings: swearing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You listen in to the conversation taking place inside the mansion and look over to your husband.
"They've been on this earth together how long and they still don't know how to get along" Mikael chuckles as you smack his arm lightly.
You both look back to where Kol is being held back by Finn from trying to pounce on Klaus you're presuming by the way he looks like he wants to charge right at his older brother.
"We should get inside before things go down" you sigh, knowing the kids' antics.
"Definitely" Mikael quickly says as he sees Kol about to get out of the oldest's arms.
You guys vamp inside the house through the unlocked door and just before Kol attacks Klaus, you grab him so he's constrained in your arms. His back pulled against your chest.
"Okay, just breathe. There are many other ways to deal with problems that don't involve attacking your brother" you tell Kol as you slowly start to slacken your grip on the younger one (biologically/physically younger).
The five vampires look at both of you, shocked at your guys' appearance.
"Mother, Father!" Rebekah's the first to break out of the trance and runs over, hugging you guys.
"Rebekah, my lovely daughter" you hear Mikael whisper in her blond hair. You smile at how soft he turns when he's with his children.
"How did you guys find us?" Klaus spoke up.
"Well, people talk when five originals are in a small town, causing havoc" You sit down on the armrest of one of the couches in the room.
You give a pointed look over to Kol, who's advancing towards Klaus. He grumbles about it not being fair, before plopping back into the couch beside you. He leans his head against your side.
"Have they also talked about how Esther is back from the dead?" Klaus more so retorts.
You and Mikael both turn your attention to the hybrid pouring himself a drink. "What are you talking about?" Mikael asks his voice hard at hearing his ex-wife's name.
"She has come back to wipe out the existence of vampires" Finn answers.
"That bitch!" You exclaim. Everyone snaps their gaze on you, not used to you ever swearing. Even Mikael is surprised by your reaction.
"What? You expect me to be calm and stoic all the time?" You raise an eyebrow. "So where is she exactly?" You ask them.
"We have no clue" Kol mumbles into your shoulder.
"Then we'll just have to find out" Mikael says after a couple moment of silence.
Steve
Asking Eddie to move to Indy with him and Robin is the most natural thing in the world. After Vecna they became SteveandRobinandEddie, so it just made sense to live together.
Everything is perfect.
It changes one night, at their favorite gay bar. He and Eddie nurse a couple of beers at a hightop, while Robin dances with a cute blonde. Steve half-heartedly shimmies along to the Madonna song pumping through the speakers. Eddie watches him vamp to Material Girl with a look in his dark eyes that Steve can't quite read. It's not the usual fondness he's used to from his friend; too dark and too serious. It makes him nervous.
Eddie drains his drink, mouths the word "bathroom," at Steve, then disappears in the crowd.
Steve sips his own beer, letting his attention drift until he finds Robin, still dancing with the blonde, looking like she's having the time of her life. He expects Eddie back at any time, only--ten, fifteen minutes pass with no sign of him.
His eyes start scanning the crowd in earnest, desperately seeking familiar leather and denim and long dark hair. Anxiety builds in his chest, a dull sizzle beneath his skin.
He finally spots a set of leather-clad broad shoulders towards the back of the room. Eddie has one hand braced against the brick wall, pressed up nice and close to someone Steve can't quite make out.
There's bile in Steve's throat, nausea clenching at his stomach. He shouldn't look; he can't tear his eyes away.
The person is revealed in a flash of light from the dance floor. He has an All-American jaw, swoopy dark blond hair, and is wearing a grass green sweater. The closest thing to Indiana golden boy in the place, second only to Steve.
Room suddenly spinning, Steve struggles to catch his breath, but gives up entirely as Eddie closes the remaining distance between himself and the mystery man, sealing their lips in a searing kiss.
Steve watches, feels himself breaking apart piece by piece. He thought--he thought they were something. Becoming something. All their late night talks and casual touches. He'd been working up the courage to make a move for weeks, and now--
Maybe it's a mistake. Maybe Eddie breaks the embrace and gives an embarrassed chuckle before he comes back to Steve, only he doesn't. The kiss ends, sure, but then Eddie is taking the guy's hand, leading him down the hall towards the bathrooms.
Hands clutched in his hair, Steve sinks into a crouch. He pants, huffing like he just ran sprints, can't catch his breath. Tears dance at his lash line, threatening to fall. He can't have a panic attack now, here. Doesn't want Robin to see; doesn't want Eddie--
It's all too small, too tight, too loud, and Steve shoves his way outside. He rounds the building before sinking to the ground, hands shaking.
He waits outside until Robin and Eddie emerge from the club, both flushed and sweaty. He doesn't speak to either of them and they spend the drive in silence.
When they get home, he goes straight to his bedroom.
"Ste--" Robin calls, but he lets the door shut behind him. He doesn't think it slams.
Eddie
Steve hasn't spoken to him in weeks. Not since that night at the bar. When Eddie hooked up with a guy and he's pretty sure Steve knows; pretty sure it's why they're no longer on speaking terms. Eddie keeps meaning to confront him. He really does. It's just--it'll change everything, and his life was finally going okay for once.
He reaches his limit when he joins Steve in the kitchen before work, and the guy literally, visibly flinches away from him. It hits Eddie like being punched in the dick.
"What the fuck, Harrington." Eddie's voice is too loud in the small space.
"S-sorry, I'll just get out of your way." Steve's eyes don't stray from his own hands.
"I hook up with one guy and now can't even bear to touch me?"
"What? Eds that's not--"
"Don't lie to my fucking face."
"I wouldn't. Eddie, please--"
"I can't believe that this is the last vestige of King Steve. Can say you're cool with me, but when you see me do gay shit, you can't hang? Fuck you. I'm done. I'll be gone by the weekend." His voice stays remarkably steady, even though he's pretty sure not even the bat bites hurt this much.
"Christ, Munson, I'm not freaked out cause I saw you do 'gay shit.' I don't care." Steve's looking at him now; his little mouth held tight and mad.
"Like hell you don't. You haven't spoken to me since it happened."
"Not because I'm homophobic, asshole."
That makes Eddie laugh, shrill and mean. "Oh yeah? Then why."
"It doesn't matter." Steve yanks his hand through his hair.
"It does to me."
"Just drop it. You don't have to move out. I don't care who you fuck."
"You can barely stand to look at me!" Eddie shouts; doesn't mean to. "What if I bring someone home, huh? How are you gonna cope with that, knowing I'm fucking a guy in the next room?"
"It should have been me," Steve screams.
Neither of them move in the ringing silence that follows. Eddie's throat is tight.
"Wh-what?" He manages.
"Forget it." Steve turns to go. "Just--forget I said anything."
"Steve." Eddie follows him into their living room. His heart's beating all funny. "What do you mean?"
"It's nothing," Steve's face is leached of color; his eyes too bright.
"Please? I want to understand."
Steve laughs a little, looks absolutely miserable. "I saw you. With the guy. And he...he looked like me, right? And I don't understand why I'm not good enough."
Eddie swallows hard. "You don't--you're not--I didn't think you were a choice. For me."
Steve's chin drops, anywhere but on Eddie. "Yeah. Well. Surprise." He doe a pathetic flourish with his hands that clenches at Eddie's heart.
"Ah," is all Eddie can manage. The world is shifting under his feet, tectonic plates realigning as he processes Steve's words.
"It's--it's fine that you don't feel the same way. Just because you're gay doesn't mean you have to like me, and I--I was trying to get over it. I didn't want to--"
Eddie can't stand to listen to another word. He crosses the distance to Steve. "Shh, sweetheart. It's--just. Stop okay?"
Steve is looking up at him now, doe eyes wide.
He laughs, genuine this time. "Stevie. I've had a crush on you for years. Years. I used to make the guys go with me to Starcourt. I told them it was because I liked seeing King Steve laid low. Really I just liked how you looked in those little shorts." Steve giggles, face blushing such a pretty pink Eddie almost forgets what he's saying.
"It only got worse when I met the kids, with how much they talked about you. And then I met you for real? Pssh," Eddie waves his hand in the air. "Gone. No hope for Eddie Munson when you're--you're so pretty and bitchy and brave and hot, Steve, and I'm the weakest man in Indiana.
"That night. That guy. It was--I'd just overheard you and Robin talking about a cute girl, and I realized that I had to stop doing that to myself, pining over a straight guy who could never see me like I wanted. I decided that I'd try to pick someone up, force myself to see you just as a best friend."
Steve's face falls impassive. "Did it work?" He almost whispers.
"Not even close, baby," Eddie whispers back. "I'm hopeless for you."
ᴺᴼᵂ ᴾᴸᴬᵞᴵᴺᴳ : All night - The Vamps
Rain x fem!reader
Synopsis: Rain’s s/o got dared by Sodo to ask Rain about his size.
Word count: 1.079
Ghost masterlist
Just a small drabble to get be back into writing.
You and the rest of the ghouls hold a weekly game night. Where you all can just gather, relax, and have fun without a worry. Sometimes Papa will join in on the fun. The games could range from Mario Kart, to UNO, to truth or dare. , maybe throw a twister night in between. It’s always different, but always fun. Tonight, is another day of the weekly game nights. And to everyone’s annoyance. It's Sodo’s turn to pick a game. When it comes to Sodo, you're more likely to play truth or dare than other games. He just likes to get dirt on everyone, maybe even tease you all with his stupid dares. Before the game starts, everyone makes sure that they're on his good side, not wanting to be on the other end of his wrath when it comes to dares.
You arrive with Rain at the commons room. Once you enter the room you notice that everyone has already made themselves at home either on the couch or on the floor. The other ghoulettes made a makeshift ghoul pile. It looks very inviting, to say the least. Sodo snaps his head to you two, “Well well. It seems like the lovebirds did decide to join us after all.” You subtly roll your eyes while Rain lets out an annoyed groan. “Yeah yeah, we know you’re miserable being lonely but no need to make fun of us.” You jab at his love life. Instantaneously you regret that opened your mouth. He’s totally going to give you a dare, and not a nice one. “Watch your mouth.” He says to you. You sit next to Swiss and Rain. “Let the game night commence!!” Phantom yells out excitedly. Aether chuckles, “yes, let the game night commence. Since it’s Sodo’s night let’s start with him.” Sodo grins and looks over at everyone. Some cowering away from his gaze, hoping he won’t pick them. Eventually, he smirks, “Swiss.” The mentioned ghoul next to you tenses up and mutters out a quiet “fuck”.
“So Swiss, truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
A series of outbursts ring throughout the room. None expected for Swiss to choose truth. He must’ve done something bad to piss Sodo off. “Who was your worst partner during sex?” Swiss groans, “goddamnit Sodo.” Sodo smirks and waves him off, “Go on, we’re waiting.” Swiss chews on his bottom lip, “it was one of the newer sisters here.” This peaked everyone’s interest.
“Who?”
“Which one?”
“Is it the blonde?”
“How bad?”
“I hate you Sodo.”
The room bursts into laughter. The ghoulettes are gossiping on who it could be. Sodo smirks, “answer the questions.” Swiss shakes his head no, “that wasn’t part of the ask. You can find that out on your own terms.” He sulks as he curls onto himself. “Mount, truth or dare.” He mumbles.
“Dare.”
“I dare you to eat a spicy pepper.”
Mountain can’t deal with heat very well so this should be interesting. He reluctantly gets up and waltzes to the kitchen to fetch said pepper. He came out with the small very spicy one. He frowns, “it’s the only one we have left.” Swiss laughs, “eat up big boy.” Mountain flips him and puts the pepper in his mouth and swallows it quickly. His lips are getting red from the spice, his nose is running, and he’s bolting to the fridge to get milk. A couple of minutes later he returns, sits back down, and glares at Swiss. “Aether, truth or dare.”
“Truth.”
“Are you enjoying sorting out papers for Sister Imperator?”
Aether frowns, “I prefer to be on stage making music with you all, but I suppose it’s not too bad. I still get to play just not on stage anymore.”
And this cycle continues for a while. Then it was Sodo’s turn again. He turns to you, “(Y/n), truth or dare.” To show you aren’t afraid of dares, albeit a bit stupid of you. You choose dare. He grins, “great!” He pauses to think for a bit. If there was a lightbulb next to his it would’ve surely lit up. He leans over to you and whispers, “ask loverboy of his size.” You groan. You mentally make a note to apologise to Rain after this game. “Rain?” He nods. “How big are you?” He tilts his head like a puppy. “Shouldn’t you know this? I’m 5 ft 10.” The room bursts into laughter yet again. You facepalm, “that’s not what I meant. I meant how big are you, in bed?” The confusion only grows on his face. “In bed? I’d still be 5 ft 10, but sideways.” The ghouls and ghoulettes are laughing again. Wheezing could be heard, some are even letting out tears because they’re laughing so much. “Rain, honey. It’s Sodo, what do you think he’s implying.” He makes an ‘o’ shape with his mouth. He laughs, “bigger than him that’s for sure.” Sodo’s jaw drops.
“You did not just say that,” Sodo says, flabbergasted. Rain smiles, “yes I did.” Sodo sulks, “I don’t want to play this game anymore. Let’s play Uno or something.” Everyone agrees to save his dignity.
***
“Stop skipping me cumulus!! How many do you even have?!" Cirrus exclaims in frustration. Which earns a solid laugh from her. “I’m sorry Cirrus, but I have to use these cards up.” Her eyebrow twitches, “you could’ve used them up before Phantom reversed!!!” Cumulus chuckles, “sorry love, there can only be one air ghoulette winner tonight.” “Oh I’ll show you winner…” Cirrus mumbles under her breath.
As the night goes on, and games of uno go on. One by one ghouls and ghoulettes alike are heading to bed. Sooner than later only you, Rain, and Sodo remain. You play a round, you win. You play another, and Sodo wins. By the third round, you’re getting tired and start dozing off. Rain notices, he finishes the game with Sodo, puts your and his cards away, drapes your arms around his neck and stands up. Which makes you clutch onto him like a koala. “I’m taking this one to bed. Good night Sodo.” He wishes you both a good night and heads to bed himself. Rain carries you over to his room and sets you down on the bed. As you make yourself comfortable under his sheets. He gets undressed and climbs into bed next to you. He wraps his tail around yours and holds you against his chest as you both doze off.
anon this time please!!!
anyway, hi hello! i think i saw you mention somewhere that you're a librarian and have read a bunch of vampire books (I think I also remember seeing you mention it as the reason why you were disappointed with the vampire elements in twilight, bc you expected it to read more as a vampire book than a romance iirc?)
So, i got curious with a few posts mentioning Alistair (one of those background character vamps in BD) and his backstory?? SHEITTT I'm a sucker (pun not intended) for that tragedy angle. Because of that, and because SMeyer really just gave all that and shafted it on the main story bc "they're not pretty things to write 🥺" I want to ask if you have any vampire stories/books to recommend that get into that tragedy? where the protagonist or at least even one of the main characters gets turned (likely against their will given the context) and deals with the horror of their transformation, goes through some Stages of Monster Grief trope being "What did you DO TO ME?!" (feel free to add in stories you know that do the whole I hate you vampire dad trope where they're bitter at their creator for turning them bc mmmm that's fun angst too lol!)
No Vampire Chronicles since I've seen them (though I like the existential angle of it all) Louis's experiences and Claudia's tragedy in Interview with the Vampire are great but I've read it already XD
thanks in advance!! 🥺🥺
You. You get it. That's the vibe. That's what I want in vampire stories, and why Breaking Dawn was just the opposite of everything I like about them. "Whee I'm so happy I was born for this" is maybe a neat subversion of "what have I become?!" but it was, for me, also boring. But the backstories, ugh, so many of the backstories were SO GOOD. Alistair's whole thing with his horse breaking its own neck in its attempt to get away from vampire!Alistair, his beloved falcons now being terrified of him, like SM went SO HARD with this backstory and does . . . nothing with it. It's just in the guide. It's so grim and tragic and devastating and for me, about 1000 times more interesting than anything that happens in Breaking Dawn.
And Carlisle!! I know I've harped on this before, but Carlisle's backstory is like 85% of why I kept reading the books after the first one, I LOVE it. The son of a monster-hunting pastor gets bitten and hides for three days in silence despite the pain because his knows if discovered his father will have him burned alive. Then he becomes a vampire and tries to destroy himself, but fails, so opts to banishing himself to the woods to starve. Mmmm. Delicious. Bring me 10 more stories just like this.
Regrettably I have not found many books that scratch that itch. So much of vampire stuff these days is romantasy and that's not what I'm looking for, I want to wallow in the dread and the horror and the angst and the crushing weight of eternal thirst, please and thank you.
If you haven't read Dracula yet, do give it a try. There's definitely dread and horror and angst over transformations. I really liked Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian but it's more like, spooky than horror but it's sort of like Dracula meets the Da Vinci Code but better written (and it has vampire librarians!). Stephen King's Salem's Lot is a pretty traditional vampire novel but it's been awhile since I read it and I don't remember a ton of wallowing in the angst, it's much more actual horror.
I do remember really enjoying some vampire anthologies when I was doing my marathon read. See if you can get your hands on some sort of short story collection of vampire tales. I can't remember what the ones at our library were called, but there was one story that I still remember about vampire who was a photographer and was obsessed with trying to photograph the sunrise . . . which posed the obvious problem.
If anyone has read a more recent vampire novel that's not a romantasy and DOES wallow in the existential angst, please please let us know!
Suptober Day 12: Harvest Festival
The hunt is an easy one. Calling it a vamp nest would be an exaggeration, and Dean takes the two of them out without breaking a sweat. He thinks about calling Dad and asking if he's missing something.
Then he figures Dad wouldn't answer anyway.
He heads back to the motel alone. On the way, he passes Main St. It's completely closed with hay bales stacked in the street to block anything but foot traffic. There's a huge sign in faded oranges, browns, and reds declaring the start of the town's harvest festival. Tacked to the bottom are fliers from a bunch of local businesses, and one in particular catches his eye. It's for a place called Milton's that claims to have the best pies in the state.
He parks in the nearest empty spot and hoofs it back. The entire street is filled with people, mostly families, who are enjoying each other's company as much as they're enjoying the booths. Dean tries not to look at them too closely.
The bakery's booth is easy enough to find; he just has to follow the trail of people with half-eaten baked goods. When he gets to the front of the line, the woman behind the table freezes. She has fire red hair pulled back in a ponytail and big brown eyes that widen in surprise. Her customer service smile is still plastered on, and after an awkward, stuttering moment, she says, "Hi, how can I help you?"
She throws a look over her shoulder at the man who's slicing a new pie at the back of the booth.
"Uh." Weirdly enough, none of Dean's alarm bells are going off. It's a weird interaction, and he should be running the other direction, but... But he really wants some pie. "You got pumpkin?"
She nods eagerly. "Of course." To the other man, she says, "Cas, can you bring me a slice of pumpkin?"
Without looking up, Cas says, "I'm a little busy, Anna."
More urgently and through clenched teeth, Anna says, "Cas."
With a put upon sigh, Cas looks up, and it's like deja vu. As soon as he sees Dean, he freezes. His ice blue eyes dart to Anna then back to Dean. He drops the knife, scrambles for one of the pre-packed slices, and comes over to hand it to Dean.
Neither of them say anything while Dean takes out his wallet to pay. He even drops a couple of bucks in the tip jar before he starts back toward where he parked.
He's almost made it to the car when he hears someone calling his name. When he turns around, Cas is jogging after him. Dean slips his hand into his pocket so he can feel his switchblade.
"How do you know my name?" he asks.
Cas stops. Clearly, Dean's apprehension is obvious.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to--" Cas worries his lip. Then like it's some kind of joke, he raises his hands and says, "Be not afraid."
Dean flips the switchblade open but keeps it close so that the people driving by (probably) won't notice it. "Listen, buddy. I asked you a question, so start talking."
"Okay, okay." The real concern on Cas's face makes Dean relax a little. No monster's going to be scared of a little blade. "Anna and I are human. We are. We just haven't always been."
"Then what were you before you were human?"
"You're not going to believe me."
"Try me."
"Angels," Cas blurts out.
Dean laughs. It's a little manic, but man, the guy is actually crazy. "Angels aren't real."
Cas hasn't lowered his hands, but he takes a step closer. "Your name is Dean Winchester. Your younger brother is Sam. Your father is John. He raised you both to be hunters after your mother, Mary, died."
"How the hell do you know all that?" Dean bumps against the Impala. He hadn't even realized he was backing up.
"Heaven has plans for you and your brother. Awful plans."
"And what? You're telling me out of the goodness of your heart?"
"When Anna and I fell, we told ourselves we wouldn't get involved with any of it. We didn't expect you to show up at our booth, and it seemed cruel not to warn you." Cas finally lowers his hands. "I'll leave you alone now. I'm sorry." Awkwardly, he turns and starts back toward the festival.
The guy's crazy. Maybe he knows other hunters, and that's how he knows about the Winchesters. Maybe he's some kind of monster with amnesia that thinks it human. Whatever the case may be, there's no reason for Dean to do anything but climb into the Impala and leave.
"Fuck," he grunts. Then louder, "Hey, Cas!"
Cas turns around tentatively, but there's a hopeful quirk to his eyebrow.
"You said this whole heaven thing included Sammy?" Dean asks.
"Yes."
Dean sighs. He looks back at the road that leads to his motel. He could be packed up and heading out of town in less than half an hour. Cas hasn't moved.
Finally, against his better judgement, Dean says, "Could you and Anna use some help packing your booth up?"
Just had an idea where after Daniel and Alice divorce, Armand begins dating Alice to get under Daniel’s skin (even though Daniel shouldn’t remember him at that time). The girls are still young enough to need supervision if not constant care, and as her “serious partner” Alice makes it clear to Armand that she expects him to help if he wants to stick around.
Armand, committed to the bit, suddenly becomes the “dad who stepped up” — he makes lunches, drives carpool, helps with homework and attends almost all afterschool activities. He’s just doing it to get under Daniel’s skin, but the girls start calling him Appa and genuinely like him. What’s more Daniel APPRECIATES what Armand has done and that he’s been there for the girs during thr difficult transition.
Unable to deal, Armand begins corralling Daniel into being a better father, so Armand doesn’t have to spend as much time with the kids. He keeps Daniel sober, compels him to show up for family meals and sports games, and tries to get him on a more regular writing schedule so he’s not grinding out work at the last minute. All of this has the effect of the two of them getting to know each other, and Alice and Daniel getting to know one another better too.
Suddenly, the divorce is canceled, Daniel's moving back in, but Alice and Daniel don't want Armand to move out. Armand is SO CONFUSED by how much they love him and want good things for him and the girls just... like his company?? For nothing in return?? (or what he perceives as nothing.)
Armand thinks of running away, but as he's been away from Louis during this time, Louis has run into an older vamp who tells him how to revive Claudia and Madeline, and they've moved back to New Orleans to reunite with (and/or punch) Lestat. Louis, therefore, shows up briefly to break up with Armand and apologize for trauma dumping on him for x years at this point (yeah, I know Armand caused Claudia's death, but they don't know he was the main player at that point).
Obv Daniel and Alice figure out Armand is a vampire pretty early on, but there's would still need to be a "shocking reveal," where Armand is like, "Hah! You can't love me now!" and they're like, "That's nice dear -- do you want deer or cow blood from the Halal butcher?"
I just think it would be funny, and a little heart warming.
(Of course, as soon as I make a concrete plan to finally, finally, for real this time, finish my original novel, I come up with a funny fic concept.)
I do this often but sorry for just. Postin a lot, and not posting fully finished smutfics lately.
I'm being more self-fulfilling with what I am writing lately, and I joke about the piss fic a lot, but it's also random ships, random fluff, this and that.
However, I am painfully aware that smut is why the majority of the followers I have follow me. I am aware that a lot of you came from vamp, from me writing Isaac and Arthur, sometimes theo, comte, etc... and now i've flipped around to writing someone who, in comparison, is a creep and not at all the character types you guys came here for- and I'm writing weird smut that isnt really super sexy? Some of it was, but then some of it was me opening up a word doc and sharing my thoughts in odd ways.
I am... having fun. On ao3 ive been going back and forth with drabbles/ideas with a new friend. Ive written out hcs that were purely just for me and realized that very bluntly and very quickly, I've shared some sfw stuff that was also bluntly shown to be just for me. And while I am not looking at it going "my writing sucks", I am looking at them and feeling a bit lonely on here at times. I often feel like I am talking to a void. I don't know how to change that outside of posting detailed smutfics that focus on things I may not want to focus on right now.
Outside of Glimpses of Teal and Auburn, and outside of random drabbles/reqs/comms I make, I don't think there is going to be future fanfics I make of Isaac and Arthur. I love them, I love them a lot! But ive also explored a Lot with them. I've also written them for years. There is more I would like to write, I have random Isaac wips that I still think about very often, but other ideas hit me more. I would rather set expectations to a realistic setting, rather than make a vague promise that isn't guaranteed.
Thats been weighin on me a lot lately, especially with villains releasing. I can tell i am likely going to enjoy later routes, they're ticking off a lot of boxes on themes I like but typically don't feel safe exploring in other media, so then I know I'd be juggling three interests at once and thats very difficult for me. I really dont know how so many writers can writer for a multitude of fandoms at once, I feel like the max for me is 2, or a vague 3. (And realistically, its possible villains will just be a thing I enjoy consuming more than creating for).
I do have comms I am working on, and outside of those I do not know when I will have a normal smutfic again. I enjoy exploring other things, but again I do know that its not why a majority of you are here!! I don't say this as a "ill make one soon!" psa, but rather... I'm having fun. I'm aware its not everyones cup of tea, but its not going away anytime soon. If that's something that displeases you, I would recommend thinkin about just occasionally checkin in on my blog instead, or just asking to be on my taglist so you can just get pinged for things without having to follow me.
And, well. I am chatty. I like having distractions from irl, and sometimes I pop in here in burts of posts. I say sorry since i know the anxiety is Clear and Radiating off of those posts, and sometimes I just feel awkward about it.
Note
I just saw the excellent post about Chuuya's loyalty and 1) how he hasn't questioned his philosophy and 2) "In a world where a "path" typically involves challenging the characters' philosophies and forcing them to reevaluate, what the hell is going to have to happen to get Chuuya to do the same?" (quoting you)
Chuuya is always used by others. He's not the only BSD character whose been taken advantage of, but it does seem to be reoccurring with him? First by the government who intended to use him as a super weapon, then by the Sheep who used him for his ability, then by mafia/Mori (getting him to join in exchange for sparing the sheep, keeping his past from him and giving him incentive to become an executive and stay in the organization). He's constantly used for his power.
Please tell me if I'm misinterpreting what you all said, but it seems (to me) that Chuuya ignores the mafia's/Mori's manipulation because they have helped him and given him a home+family, so he's instead loyal to them.
Because even though Mori has not and is using him for his power, he still allows it/goes along with it because they've helped him in the past and earned his loyalty.
So Chuuya tolerates being used.
He's now being used again, obviously, in part, because of his power. We have Fyodor referring to him as just his ability and bragging about how he can "use" him better than Dazai ("doesn't that mean you're unfit to USE a gravity manipulator")
Do you think it's possible that just being vamped and used again will cause him to reflect on his mentality? He's once again being used (but be it in far more blatant way: literal mind control. Also reminds me of Verlaine+his creator). Reflecting on how he's been used in the past and no longer accepting being used by others anymore?
Or do you think it might have the opposite affect and push him deeper into the mafia somehow
Also it's interesting that Fyodor is using him but hasn't earned his loyalty (like the sheep+mafia) and how that'll affect Chuuya
Tumblr media
I'll get to the second ask in a bit but I'm combining these because they're related.
About the first ask: I mean, yeah, you're right about this. I don't know that I'd consider it so much "ignoring" though as "the benefits outweigh the costs so whatever", and I do want to state that I'm pretty sure Mori is genuinely at least a little fond of Chuuya (see: their conversation about leadership at the end of Fifteen), and his Mafia colleagues do respect him.
But yeah, you are absolutely right to say that there is a pattern of people who want Chuuya for his ability and his loyalty, and/or reduced him down to these traits. Playing hot potato with the escaped military lab experiment and the Mafia won (<-simplification for the funnies but still).
But here's the thing: if this was the end of it, we might expect to see some resentment mixed in there from Chuuya. He was blackmailed with the Sheep's lives. His past was intentionally locked away from him until he worked his way up to executive. That's... not great.
But instead we find pretty much only gratitude from him. Why?
Well, see, there's a reason I put the return of Chuuya's screwed up self-concept in the tags on that post, because it's kind of at the heart of his impressive loyalty. Chuuya believes that since he is the one with the strongest power, that makes him responsible for protecting everyone else, which means that he rationalizes any concern or protection directed at him as something "above and beyond", and worthy of recognition and repayment. Remember that he genuinely felt like just a vessel for power and nothing else for apparently quite a bit of his childhood, and the Sheep emphasizing that he owed them for taking him in probably did not help.
When it comes to having his back, the Mafia did this for him in a way no one else did. They protect their own, a value that aligns closely with Chuuya's own personal philosophy. The Mafia is also relatively safe from external threat, if we recall Dazai's pitch to Odasaku in Day I Picked Up Dazai - Odasaku is being targeted, but no one in their right mind would challenge the Mafia just to get to him. So, the Mafia has provided Chuuya with protection, comradery, and relative safety, which in my mind all condenses into a central need that takes precedence over everything else to him.
Chuuya's core need is actually stability.
And this makes quite a bit of sense. He started off as a kid with no memories and a whole lot of trauma he couldn't remember the roots of. One's past is a source of stability, but that had been taken from him. His position as leader of the Sheep was shaky. Even his identity as a human being was called into question. Chuuya as a kid and teen was largely untethered, separate from everyone else with no way to ground himself. Under those circumstances, something that originated as a chain could easily become a safety rope.
And once Chuuya found this stability, there was really no need for him to change anything. So he didn't. He settled into his new role and became really, really good at it, and didn't bother to re-evaluate beyond that. Why would he? That minimal core need has been met, despite the rocky beginning.
Which brings me to this second ask because it's actually incredibly relevant. Yes, Chuuya and Sigma are alike. You are not losing it anon.
Let's run a list, shall we? They both awoke with no memories and a missing history, and had their humanity called into question. They were used and blackmailed repeatedly, which they were, fortunately and unfortunately, consciously aware of. When they find something that matters to them, they become violently defensive of it. They both operate on principles of reciprocity and transaction because that is what they believe to be normal in relationships (Sigma's ability even is quite literally a transaction!). They both have pretty low standards for their assistance (Sigma hearing one (1) single person (Atsushi) be kind to him in what he thought were his last moments, Chuuya "You have helped Chuuya! Chuuya will now kill and die for you!" Nakahara).
Above all else, they are looking for stability. They are looking for a home.
As of yet, Sigma hasn't found a true home, but it seems we may be building up to him joining the ADA. The key part is Sigma's realization that the Agency doesn't rely solely on transaction. Dazai is not using the Agency, the Agency is not using Dazai. The Agency members are all helping each other. They care about each other.
Meanwhile, Chuuya has already found a place that provides his core need, but there's one caveat about the Mafia that should be clarified here - as Odasaku says in Dark Era, people within its ranks don't talk about personal matters and feelings with each other, and everyone instead keeps to themselves. If you don't talk about your issues or air them out, relations tend to stay personally shallow and dictated almost entirely by the demands and positions of the organization. This is not a conducive environment for reappraisal or self-exploration.
Unfortunately, this is ideal for Mr. Chuuya "I'll keep all my emotions right here and then one day I'll die" Nakahara.
Chuuya has found some measure of stability - solace in his own self-defined identity in spite of the initial ambiguity as to his humanity. "This is who I am", "Till those flames die down, I can't just do whatever I want", "I'm gonna do what I need to do", etc. But importantly, this identity is entangled in whichever group he happens to be a part of, which in this case is the Mafia. This kind of self-identity cannot exist without the structure of an organization. It relies on the reciprocity of a group.
Moreover, it relies on Chuuya showing very little vulnerability. Compartmentalize, and move on. He expects that of himself.
So, we've established that Chuuya has his core need for stability met by the Mafia - a relatively secure place that runs on transaction, which is familiar to him - yet it also doesn't push him out of his comfort zone with respect to emotional vulnerability and openness. What this means is that, in the Mafia, Chuuya is practically invincible, both physically (his ability, his martial arts prowess) and emotionally (personal life kept hidden and guarded as a Mafia expectation).
Unfortunately, this means Chuuya also remains stagnant as a character, which finally, finally brings me back to your original question anon.
No, I don't think the vampirism is enough to trigger change in Chuuya's character. Chuuya has some standards, and treating him like a tool (and Dazai's tool, no less) is going to seriously piss him off, but that's anger at Fyodor, and it doesn't impact his stability with the Mafia any which way. If Chuuya had've been forced to activate Corruption to escape the drowning then maybe he would've been angry with Dazai enough for something to shift (activation being his own choice is a huge theme with them), but since he didn't, I expect Chuuya will unfortunately just shrug it off and roll with it. Probably yell at him for a bit, but nothing that would have far-reaching consequences for his character unless there is something about his current situation we don't yet know.
I think for Chuuya to grow and change as a character, he needs something major to shift in his life - the threat has to come from within his place of security. He needs to be destabilized. Something needs to happen that specifically targets his tethers and his self-concept.
Personally, my money's on the destabilization of his bond with Mori, who he has the most respect for, because that might trigger development related to leadership and goals, but I guess we'll see. I think it'll probably be incredibly heart wrenching and hurt us all severely, whatever it is.
Huh. I wrote a lot. Congrats for making it to the end! I'm going to sleep now. :D
Edited by removing the entire middle section because it was absolute garbage and probably should’ve been its own post. I hope the rest of this holds up. That’s what I get for writing things at 2 in the morning I guess.
"...Or, your blood, to be more specific," Chan corrected himself before flashing his white canines at you again, but you just stared at him in concern. His face was still uncomfortably close to yours as he looked like he was waiting for a response, but you weren’t able to give one other than…
“V-Vampires?” you questioned, dumbly. He nodded simply. You looked around the room to see if anyone was trying to restrain their laughter, or if you could catch a glimpse at any of their expressions betraying Chan's words, but they all stared at you with serious expressions. You finally purse your lips, feeling slightly irritated. “How do you expect me to believe that? You're all vampires? Really?”
You glanced around the room full of beautiful guys, who, now that you thought about it, were all oddly pale, but to go as far and say that they were vampires is definitely a stretch. Even though no one was laughing, you believed this was their way of playing some kind of elaborate practical joke on you.
Chan snapped his tongue before shaking his head, causing a single strand of his dark hair to fall into his even darker eyes. “Well, if you'd like, we can prove it to you if you need further convincing."
You frowned. “How?”
Immediately following your question, two pearly white incisors, sharp as blades, suddenly replaced the original dull incisors that had been in Chan’s mouth just a moment before as he bared his fangs out at you. Then, as if to further drive home the point that they were indeed all vampires, the rest of his clan each bared their fangs out at you as well, all simultaneously, so you were now staring at a room full of bared teeth.
You gulped.
You shook your head, flustered at seeing all the teeth around you. "No, that's okay. I believe you now." You answered quickly and immediately, everyone put their fangs away.
You looked up when you heard a chuckle from across the table.
“Awe, they look so terrified,” the pretty one with the long dark hair, teased you. “It's actually kind of cute.“
“I like them when they're scared,” added Minho, you remembered as the cold-looking member. “The blood always tastes so much better when they're scared.”
“That's because you're a freak, Minho!” chastised one of the youngest. “I think they taste best when they're happy and comfortable.”
“Yeah, well that's because you're a softy, Seungmin,” Minho fired back.
From then on, the entire table began to bicker all around you. Before you could even register what you were doing, you suddenly jumped up from your chair.
In response, all the vamps stared at you like you suddenly grew a second head.
“You know what? I think I should go now,” you said in a panic as you started backing away from the table.
“Awe. you're leaving us so soon…” said Minho in a taunting manner.
You didn't answer, but you felt yourself bump into a firm body behind you and turned to see Chan's thick chest. He smiled at you and placed a hand on your shoulder. “Why are you trying to leave so soon? Don't you trust us? We can be good friends if you get to know us.”
You immediately shirked away out of his grasp so fast that his hand was left hanging in the air.
“Friends?!” you repeated in disbelief. “Y-you're all vampires! I thought you were joking but this…this is all too much!” Immediately, you ran out of the dining room and headed straight for the front doors.
They opened with ease, apparently having already been unlocked; however, upon opening the door, you weren't expecting to be hit with practically a monsoon.
That's right. Being inside the large mansion, you had completely forgotten it was storming really bad outside. Still, you weren't going to stay here so you pulled your hoodie over your head and ran outside to your car. In all your haste, you didn't even bother to close the front door.
Through the wind and rain, you could barely see, but you found your little car, still in the long driveway, just as you had left it hours ago. You hopped in and slammed the door shut then fished for the keys from your pants pocket and jammed them in the ignition to start the car only for it to…
Tiiiick, tick, tick, tick…boom!
Uh oh.
…the car wouldn't start. You turned the keys in the ignition again, desperately trying to rev up the engine only to get the same broken down response and you groaned, pressing the back of your head into the headrest.
“Whhhy?!” You yelled frustrated. You wanted to cry. You didn't know anything about cars! Why would it choose to break down now of all times? First, you had nearly gotten into a crash after being run off the road earlier that night, then you had the misfortune of being tricked by a group of vampires, and now this.
You hated Halloween!
You looked out the car window that was currently being pelted by heavy rain and wind so exuberant it caused your small car to rock like a baby's cradle.
You closed your eyes and thought about what you could do. You would call your coworker, but you didn't have your phone right now. Unfortunately, you had left it somewhere in the mansion. You could try and camp out in the car all night until the storm let up and then maybe you could walk until you found an establishment to make a phone call, but from your drive up there you already knew that nothing was within walking distance. It seemed the only option was…
Tap. Tap.
You jumped at the sound of something tapping on your car window. You saw someone standing outside, looking at you through the window and you knew it had to be one of the men from inside the mansion. You contemplated on whether you should speak to him for a moment before finally rolling down your window a little.
It was the blonde one. Felix.
He smiled at you but it didn't make your heart skip a beat like it did the first time you met him. You didn't trust that smile anymore.
“Are you alright?” he asked, whilst holding onto an umbrella for dear life due to the storm. “The weather is pretty gnarly. Everyone inside is worried about you.”
“They are?” you asked in complete disbelief.
“Yeah, they are,” he answered, looking genuinely concerned. He sighed as he bent down to look you in the eyes and you gulped feeling slightly flustered by the eye contact. “Look, I think maybe we got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you come inside and we can start over.”
Last time you were invited inside by him, you were tricked. But you also had to acknowledge that you were in a pretty bad situation, right now.
Felix tried again. “Come on. You don't want to stay out here all night, alone in this storm, do you? Look, we promise we won't do anything that you don't want. No harm will come to you.”
You stayed put, staring at him, looking for any signs of deceit, but found none. You tore your eyes away from his to think for a moment. His eyes could be really convincing to the point of making you do irrational things like now, for instance. You were honestly beginning to consider his offer again.
It was his last plea that did it for you.
“Please?” He added with his big orbs gaping at you and you instantly folded.
You sighed, reluctantly, and nodded. “Okay.”
Immediately, his megawatt smile came back. He opened your car door for you and helped you out, bringing you under the umbrella he was holding. “Don't worry. I promise we're not nearly as bad as you think.”
With that, you two headed back up the long driveway, and up the steps of the front of the mansion where you could see three figures waiting inside with the door open.
The closer you got, you could see it was both the two youngest and the one who looked like a squirrel in the face, all standing at the door, waiting for you.
“Hey! You decided to stay,” the squirrel said, excitedly as he ushered you inside. “Don't worry. This is going to be the best sleepover you ever had.”
“Good job, Felix. I see you convinced our little human friend to come back.” the cold looking, Minho said as he walked up to you guys with his arms folded over his chest, instantly reminding you of your situation right now where you were the only human in a mansion full of thirsty vampires.
You cleared your throat before replying in a small voice, “Um…only for the night until the storm eases up.”
“Of course.” Felix agreed immediately. “And we don't want to do anything to make you feel uncomfortable. We're not going to make you do anything you don't want to. We just want you to know that the offer still stands.”
“The offer?” you repeated, quizzically. “You mean…”
“Yes. I won't beat around the bush,” he answered before you could finish that thought. “We would all very much still like to drink from you.”
You shook your head, not understanding. "Why me?"
You didn't see yourself as anything special. After all, you were just a measly pizza delivery person. Why would they pick you out of the thousands of people in town?
“I'm just a pizza delivery driver,” you finished.
"Do you know what your blood type is?” you suddenly heard another voice come from somewhere in the room, and turned in that direction. It was the leader of the clan. Bang Chan, if you remembered correctly. His dark figure was standing on the opposite side of the room, near the bottom of the stairs.
You shake your head in response to his question. You had never gotten a blood test or donated blood in all your life. In all your years, you had barely even gone to the hospital all that much. No check ups, no serious illnesses, no severe injuries. Nothing. So you had no clue.
Chan nodded, and hummed in thought. “What do you know about H-deficient blood?”
You frowned and shrugged. “I don't even know what that is.”
His brows raised in surprise at that response. “Humans…” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head. “You're so completely unaware of just how rare you are.”
What did that mean? You wondered, but when you vocalized your confusion it just came out as, “Huh?”
From across the room, his eyes locked on yours and he began to slowly walk towards you while giving you a little lesson in blood classification as he did. “H-deficient blood. It's known to be the rarest blood type in the world. Literally, only a couple hundred people in the entire world possess it.” He pauses as he finally comes to stop in front of you before adding. “And you're one of those people.”
Your breath stopped as he stared at you with his pitch black eyes, holding your entire being in them. You watched as his orbs slowly traveled down your face, the length of your neck, your collar bone, and your torso until they finally stopped at your arm. You looked down at your limb, curiously, and he gestured towards your arm, as if silently asking permission. Instinctively, you brought your hand up to him and the corner of his mouth turned up.
Chan took your arm and smelled it. While doing so, his eyes practically rolled to the back of his head as if he was getting a whiff of the most delectable meal ever.
You clenched your teeth in response and squeezed your legs together surprised at just how much of a turn on that was.
This seemed to pique the interest of all the vampires around you as multiple gasps erupted around the room. You noticed Chan’s eyes begin to take on a darker shade, instantly, if that were even possible. The pupils were expanding causing the entirety of his eyes to turn opaque. You also noticed tiny little dark veins beginning to peek through his pale skin around his eyes.
You went rigid but still felt intrigued.
If there was any slight doubt within you as to whether they were really vampires or not, all suspicions were completely gone now.
“Every vampire,” Chan began to explain, although it looked like it pained him to do so as he kept your wrist close to his nose, inhaling. He breathed in deeply. “Has a specific fixation for a certain blood type. Our two youngest, Seungmjn and Jeongin, specifically like A type because it is sweet to them while Hyunjin and Jisung prefer B type because it is sour. Felix here, likes AB because it is a mix of sweet and salty flavor. And Changbin, Minho and I all prefer the bitter taste of O blood. So, you see, we usually can never all feed together but instead, do so in small groups.”
His eyes parted from your wrist as they fixated on you again.
“But then there's one other special type of blood, also known as H-deficient that all vampires crave because of its taste, also known as Umami. It's the most savory and the rarest blood type that all vampires covet but only a few of us ever get to taste because of its rarity.”
His pearly white canines show again as he grins. “Who knew that we would find an H-deficient human in a small town, working in a Domino's of all places.”
You stayed deathly still as you pondered what all of this meant. H-deficient? Umami? Rare? You were all of these things? It just didn't seem right to you. You had never been considered special by any means. Were they absolutely sure they had the right person?
“I can assure you that it's you we've been searching for.” Chan said as if reading your mind and you stiffened in response at being found out causing him to chuckle.
“Oh honey, your expressions are just really easy to read.”
You purse your lips as you ponder over what he just said, something sticking out to you.
“Searching?” you repeat, curiously.
He nods. “We've been hunting for someone who possesses the rare blood type with the help of our talented Felix. You see, our Lixie is a tracker, meaning he has the strongest senses of us all. He was able to sense you the moment we moved into town even despite how far you were. Once we realized that there was someone in town with this special blood type, it was about tracking you specifically after that. Your scent was everywhere. It lingered all over town due to your delivery job. But one day, Felix tracked you all the way to your place of employment. That's when we knew we had to make an order.”
You stood, gaping in shock as he revealed everything to you. You had thought it odd at how casual they were with using your name despite you never having even met them before, but you knew now it was because they already knew you. Because they had been following you, or, tracking you, to be more specific. This wasn't just a random chance delivery. They'd probably been planning this night the moment they found out where you worked. And now they were ready to feed.
Chan continued. "As I said earlier. we're more than willing to make it worth your while if you choose to stay the night with us. If one thousand isn't enough, we can supply you with more. H-deficient is so worth it and for the first time, we could all feed together."
"Wait,” you pulled away from him since he still had your arm in his grasp. You didn't miss his frown as you did so. “Do you mean that you all want to feed from me? Like, all at once? Wouldn't that kill me?"
The frown that had made its way onto Chan's features was quickly replaced by a smile once again.
"Yes, I suppose if we were all to feed on your body, at once, it would kill you,” he said while looking amused like he wasn't all that opposed to that idea. “But you need not to worry because you see, we are a civilized clan,” he says while gesturing to his clan members around the room. “We'll each take turns. And because your blood satisfies us all, for the first time, we can all feed with whoever. We'd also make sure to give you the utmost care. We always take care of our donors. Whatever accommodations you need we can supply them. We want to make sure this is just as pleasurable an experience for you as it is to us. As a thanks to you for feeding us, that is, if you so choose, your comfort is our top most priority.”
You stared at him in silence for a moment and then looked around the room at all the hungry vampires, each silently awaiting your answer. You looked away.
“And what if I don't want to?” you asked carefully. “Will you throw me out?” Or worse…you added inwardly.
“No sweetheart,” Chan answered with a slightly teasing tone. “If that's your choice then we will respect that. As I mentioned before, we are a civilized clan that takes care of our donors. No harm will come unto you while underneath our roof.”
You stood, thinking about the positives you could get out of this situation. They were offering you a thousand dollar tip, after all. That was way more than you ever made in a month. Plus, you still couldn't deny that they were all pretty damn hot. An entire night with eight gorgeous vampires didn't seem all that bad especially if they were promising you full accommodations. And who knew? Maybe if this turned out okay, you could even have them as regular customers. This is what you had wanted, isn't it? To score big tips with rich customers.
After a few more silent moments of deliberation, you finally sighed and nodded.
“Okay. I'm willing to try this with you all. But I've never done anything like this, so I can't promise how I'll react to being bitten.”
“Don't worry about it, babe,” suddenly said the dark, long-haired one you already forgot the name of. “All of us are more than experienced. We've been hunting and feeding for decades. We'll make sure you're comfortable.”
Chan nodded, agreeing with his clan member before turning to you again.
You nodded as well. “Okay,” you agreed, finally. “Then I'm in. I'll do it.”
“Great!” Chan said, seeming eerily happy but that may have just been you. Everything he did seemed to throw you off a bit.
Then suddenly, in the blink of any eye, you found yourself whisked off back to the dining room once again. You looked down and realized you were seated at the head of the dining table just as you were before only this time, instead of a silver covered dish in front of you, there was now a sheet of paper that looked old based on how yellowed, and crumpled it was.
The handwriting on it was so small you could barely make it out. Not that you really could even if it was all in legible writing for it was all written in Korean.
“This is just an old confidential agreement,” Chan informed as he came up beside you. “For protection. We need your word that you will not disclose anything that happens while you are in our care.”
“Oh, of course,” you agreed. That made sense. They were vampires after all, and surely didn't want their business all over town. Not that you thought anyone would believe you even if you did go around town telling everyone you knew. You looked up at him. “Do you have a pen?”
He shook his head. “That's not how you will sign.”
You frowned as he pulled out a needle point pin. “Your blood will be the signature.”
“Oh,” was your shocked reply.
He gestured to your hand, and you slowly brought it up to him.
He held the palm of your hand in his larger, veiny ones. He looked down at your seated frame. “Are you sure you're ready for this, y/n?”
“Y-yes,” you stuttered, slightly anxious, but still excited.
“Well then…” with that, he pricked your index finger with the needle, then pinched your finger thus, causing a little bulb of red liquid to form at the tip.
Your breath hitched as you watched his hands squeeze your finger tip, continuously drawing more blood. You noticed the dark veins around his black eyes coming back with a vengeance, making him look more sinister with each passing moment and you gulped. He must have had a good deal of self control despite how much your blood seemed to entice him.
“There. Now you can sign.” You noticed his voice was about an octave deeper than he previously sounded only a moment ago.
Taking your index finger, you signed along the black line at the bottom of the page. When finished, Chan squeezed your finger once again, this time letting a little drop of blood fall onto the sheet of paper. He then takes your thumb, and presses it into the red liquid, making a thumbprint.
He smiles. “Perfect.”
Immediately, he takes away the sheet and rolls it up, before pocketing it. He then glances down at you and frowns. “Do you want to get out of those wet clothes?”
You look down at your uniform all wrinkled, and wet from being outside in the pouring rain. You then look back at him and nod. “Please.”
Chan looks towards his clan members, all scattered around the table, some seated, some standing but each of them focused on you and nudges his head at them.
Instantly, two of them stand and move over to you. You remember them as the two youngest.
“Seungmin and Jeongin will show you to your room and help you get situated,” Chan says and you're immediately helped from your chair and guided by the two out of the dining room, but before you leave, Chan calls you one more time.
“And y/n?”
You turn around and look at him.
He smiles, and for the first time, you realize he has dimples as this smile seems more genuine than all the others he had given you that night so far.
“Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We promise this will be a night you'll never forget.”
Yippee surprise fic of (my rendition of) Fool!Milo x Sweetheart!
I'd like to imagine this Milo is still a little flirty but also hardened/wary around others by a particular event that is mentioned in the fic 👍🏽
This was meant to be a ramble on how we could get a chase with Fool!Milo but then i was like fuck it let me make a fic instead (and add drama lol)
"Don't need to hear your heartbeat thuddin' from anyone else but me..."
Fool!Milo/Sweetheart - 18+ - MDNI
CW: Fighting, Aggression, mentions of a death
Sweetheart, at the dead of night, running over a plain hill. The moon towering over them in a cloudless night, a hiss heard that echoes in their mind. A blur too fast for them to catch, its not of a Stealth. The wind picks up, and they fall to the ground. They summon any kind of defensive magic they can, hoping a surge of electro magic would stop it. They raise a hand in front of them, closing their eyes, the rush of magic collected at their palm. They're about to release it when they feel a hand wrap around their wrist.
That familiar core signature, husky and near animalistic, they know him. They dissipate the magic, feeling it fade into their body. Their eyes open, seeing his blood-red eyes glow around his pupils, grey surrounding the iris. The red is bright against the grey-blue night, almost comforting and warm. They've spent many nights with him, time has blurred into years, and they wouldn't change it for anything.
They hear a gentle huff from him, his hand squeezes their wrist, "Hey, Sweetheart... are you okay?"
That accent, music to their ears, compels them to answer, "Yes..."
He helps them up, dusting them off, "What's going on, what happened?"
They pull their sleeves up, "I thought you were some intruder, didn't expect a chase!" A soft thud as they pat his shoulder.
He clicks his tongue, "You call that a chase? That was barely a sprint, what are you talking about?" He stops to kiss their cheek, sighing before continuing with a smirk on his face, "And if there was anyone, I know damn well we both could've handled them. I mean, shit! Me with my speed and these fangs, and you with the stealth! We're fucking invulnerable, Sweetheart!"
They smile at him, feeling his hands snake their way to their waist, him looking up at them, the moon reflecting in his eyes. They place their hands on his shoulders, squeezing, then moving a hand to his cheek. He doesn't break eye contact, looking at them softly, pressing his face into their palm.
He opens his mouth, pressing the tip of a fang onto their palm. He's getting the instinct to nibble on them, despite not needing to feed, he just wants his fangs on their skin. He smiles and kisses the area, but stops when he hears something. He pulls away from their hand, staring blankly into the dark bush of trees.
"Out there, in the forest. You ready for an actual chase, baby?" He squeezes their hand, and they let it fall to their side, staring into the trees, trying to figure out what he heard. Was it animal? Human? Empowered or Unempowered? Could they fight back? Would they want to?
"Not sure I'll catch up to you."
"Eh, you don't gotta. Just be with me. Come on, I got the scent. I might be feeling a little peckish tonight."
As he turns, they grab his arm, "What is it?"
His hand goes over theirs, "Just a wolf, uh, shifter, guessing they might've lost their way to their pack. Let's say we redirect 'em, huh?"
"Milo..."
"I know. I won't feed, you got all the blood I need, baby."
They have the urge to roll their eyes but his words and tone are genuine, comforting, grounding.
He gives them a toothy grin, fangs poking into his lips, "You'll keep me in check anyway. Nothing wrong with a vamp needing his own protector, huh?"
They huff, "Let's get this done with, then. A wolf on your territory isn't something you need, considering how much of your scent is out there."
"Our territory. Our scent. This place is just as much as mine as it is yours, Sweetheart. Don't forget that."
They watch as he gets closer, his hand wrapping around the back of their neck as he presses his forehead against their's. They hear him take in a deep breath, taking in their scent, then exhale. After a few seconds, he presses an innocent kiss to their neck. They giggle and pat a fist at his shoulder, "Let's get going, before you drain me on the spot."
He scoffs as they take a few steps forward, a goofy smile on their face, "I would never! You know me! All my cues and shit!... Unless you're wanting to be bit, I can make an arrangement for that... Yeah, definitely."
"All your cues, huh? Yeah, let's go before you tackle me right now, I can already see it-" They chuckle as they raise their hands up in the air, mimicking a screen.
"Okay, okay!" He huffs and catches up to them, and they start sprinting down the hill. He matches their pace pretty quickly, "I'll go left, you go straight, they're in pretty deep so I don't think they know this area much. You know what to do after that, Sweetheart. I'll meet with you back home."
The two share a confident glance before Milo sprints further, reaching the trees before they do. He stops, watching them cloak before he goes any further. He tracks their scent, whispering to himself, "Just one guy but it's still risky. A wolf and a Stealth... Come back to me, baby. I don't need to hear your heartbeat thuddin' from anyone else but me."
Even when they're cloaked, he still catches onto them. Their steady heartbeat, small huffs when they breathe as they run, and the ever so slightly heard crunch of the twigs underneath them. Everything of them calls to his senses, to protect and to admire. He trusts them with all of his undead heart, his veins could practically run with their blood with how much they've offered themselves to him. It's all been willingly, and he would repay that if he could. They're his lifeline, he won't take blood from anyone or anything else unless he needed to, if he was forced to. And he hopes it never comes to that.
Milo starts to run again, letting his Sweetheart creep up onto the shifter. He stays in the darkness of the trees, feeling their heart thud from so far away. The shifter has been walking for a bit, as if trying to memorize the area. They're in their wolf form, coat brown as the earth under them. Milo swallows, glaring at the wolf and their jaws, their giant form is nearly as big as his Sweetheart. He nearly has the urge to take down the wolf himself, but with them nearby, he wouldn't risk it. The wolf has their nose to the ground suddenly, picking up on a new scent. Milo's ears detect animals and insects, birds and any other living thing that might take the wolf's attention. But they're too close.
Milo's stalked up to the wolf by now, watching them with caution. And then, a twig snaps. His breath hitches in his chest as the large wolf quickly turns around, snapping and baring their teeth. Milo can hear his Sweetheart's heart, beating quickly, their veins pumping, the wolf sniffs the air again. Milo can hear them trying to slow their breathing as the wolf is now looking in their direction. He takes a few steps forward, the wolf turns their head in his direction rather quickly. They take a few steps towards Milo, practically staring into his eyes if the wolf had enough conviction to find out what the noise was. Staring into the trees, the wolf suddenly bolts in the opposite direction.
Milo lets out a low, irritated hiss as he gives chase, the wolf seems to be faster than him for now, with no energy wasted in the beginning of a chase. Milo's attention is fully on the wolf in front of him, needing to reach them, to get them out of his and Sweetheart's territory. He stops dead in his tracks when he sees the wolf get shoved forcefully into the trees, unable to get up by an invisible force. Milo watches his Sweetheart fade into view, on top of the wolf, using all the strength they can muster to keep the giant shifter down. Milo watches their elbow keep the jaws shut, a front paw locked in place in between a leg and the other pushing deep against the wolf's belly. Their free hand threatening to break a back leg, grip tightening as they demand for the wolf to shift into their human form.
Milo is amazed at their strength, and also terrified at what they can do. Guess DUMP has some... intimidating tactics in terms of restraining people, and gigantic wolves in this matter. Milo recovers and walks up to them, keeping the wolf down against a tree. The wolf stops struggling once they catch Milo's scent, a wary eye not leaving his figure. He places a hand on Sweetheart's shoulder, and they relieve some tension on the wolf, but still having control over the situation. He kneels next to them, staring at the wolf. Sweetheart turns to him, giving a face that begs the question, "What do we do?" It's tacit, Milo raises his brow at them quickly, and they keep the wolf down, "Keep going."
"For the last damn time, shift back." Sweetheart growls as they keep the pressure on the wolf's leg, "I don't need to use much force to break this. We just need to know which pack you're from."
The wolf yelps at the pressure, and glances back at Milo to Sweetheart quickly. Milo pats their shoulder, and they let go of the wolf. They stand up, stepping back but bringing some electro magic to their fingers in case this gets crazy. They analyze the wolf, every movement of their muscles as they stand. The wolf huffs, standing still, glaring down at the vampire whose still close. They feel the small bits of electricity zap at their fingertips, the magic swirling around their hand, yellow and white flashes, waiting to be released. Milo's own stare at the wolf almost makes them stand down. Almost. He doesn't want to trance them, but if they get those teeth anywhere near them, they'll pay for it.
The wolf looks around, breaking contact with Milo. The pair watch as the wolf's paws tap on the ground, but Milo wouldn't expect them to snap at his Sweetheart. They barely step back in time before the jaws could catch around their head, and in retaliation, the Stealth unleashes the stored up electro magic. The wolf starts running at the crackle of lightning, the first bolt barely missing their tail. Sweetheart keeps their arm up, holding it up with the other, repeatedly sending bolts of electricity to try to apprehend the wolf.
"Sweetheart, are you okay?"
"Go!"
They nudge their head in the wolf's direction, fierce eyes telling Milo to tred on without them. He nods, quickly gaining speed and catching up to the wolf. Once Milo's close enough, he reaches an arm out to try to grab at their fur, but he barely misses. He tries again, getting closer and finally grabbing the wolf's skin, twisting the fur in his hand. Immediately, the wolf tries to turn back and nip at his hand, but trips and Milo quickly grabs at them. As they tumble on the ground, Milo feels the giant wolf get smaller. He no longer feels fur against him, but cloth. Milo restrains the shifter, holding down an arm behind their back, the other around their neck, and a leg tight around their knee. They fight back, bashing their elbow against his torso.
"The hell was that? What the hell was that?! They told you to shift back, how stubborn could you be?! If it's unknown territory, you don't come here! Our scents are all over, how could you not tell?!"
The shifter shivers against him but they don't say anything, a low growl from their throat is the only sign of a threat against the vampire.
Milo questions again, "What pack are you from? We don't take too kindly to wolves anymore, so spill."
Sweetheart finally catches up, circling around Milo and the shifter, charging up their electro magic again. They glance at Milo to let them go, and he does. The shifter warily gets up, Milo doing the same. They heal the slight bruising on their neck, clearing their throat.
“Why don’t you want wolves here?”
Milo scoffs, narrowing his eyes at them, “That’s rich. You not from here or something?”
Sweetheart continues for him, “His… our King was killed. Betrayal from our wolf allies during a Summit. That’s all you need to know.”
“What pack did it?”
Sweetheart is about to answer but Milo interjects, walking in between the two, “That’s enough. Your scent doesn’t give off who I thought… get outta here. And uh, sorry for the roughhousing.”
“I’m a wolf, I’m used to it,” they say before taking a few steps forward, “How do I…?”
Milo sighs, “Keep running ‘til you don’t smell us anymore.”
With this leniency, the shifter quickly leaves.
Milo groans, Sweetheart walking to him to rub his upper arms soothingly, “You okay?”
He looks up at them, “You know I don’t like mentioning that…”
“I know, I’m sorry Milo, but they needed clarification. It seemed like they never heard what happened, so they’re possibly alone. But we don’t have to worry about them anymore, let’s go home.”
Milo mumbles the word again, home. If he wasn’t stuck in that damn house, confined to the shadows, forever aching to see the sun, he could actually have a home with Sweetheart in the city. Instead, his duties and loyalty to his mother, his Queen, forbid him. He smiles as he feels Sweetheart bring a hand to his cheek, raising his head to look at them. They know he’s stuck in his head, and they want to help.
“Hasn’t all that running made you hungry yet?”
He smirks at them, but thoughts of hunger lead to cooking. Milo misses cooking, that passion of making something full of flavor and love, now meaningless due to his thirst for blood. Now, he only cooks for Sweetheart. Whatever they want, he’ll make it, but it feels bittersweet. They squish his cheeks, making him smile, thoughts fading away.
“Yeah. You offering, baby?”
“Maybe I am.”
He places a hand over their wrist, “Where do you want me? Wrist or…?”
“In bed.”
Milo chuckles at their tone, sweet and teasing. Wanting. Wanting him, even as he is now. Needing him without the stuff that was taken from him. Loving him even as he thinks of himself as half of the man he was. Those thoughts break again as he feels Sweetheart tug on his shirt, already walking the path towards home.
They bite their lip as Milo gently kisses down their neck, he’s rushing to get their top off, making small rips in the fabric that he painstakingly notices. He doesn’t want to be too rough with them, considering his strength. He hates it, he wants to touch them with all of the need in him, but sometimes the strength is too much. Once the top is off, he gently pushes them down on the bed, comfortable sheets making them relax their shoulders. Seeing them relax always helped calm his nerves, and seeing them shirtless is definitely helping.
He straddles them, looking down at their bare torso, fingers grazing down their stomach, “Such soft skin… Claimed by my bite far too many times, and I’ll do it again…”
He leans down, kissing all over their chest, feeling and hearing their blood rush and heartbeat like a song.
He mumbles against their skin, “Mine… all mine to mark, to sink my teeth into, to never let go… my forever…”
They make a soft moan as his lips move up their jugular, a hand of his moving down underneath their bottoms, playing with their flesh, gentle yet strong fingers flickering and rubbing against their soft spot. He feels their thighs clench and release at the feeling, it’s just how their body reacts to him, and he savors it.
After a few more kisses, his hunger catches up to him as he mouths their neck and jaw, “Mmm, fuck… can I bite now, Sweetheart? Your blood sings to me, I need your voice to do the same, please…”
They both sigh in pleasure as Sweetheart bucks their hips into his hand, Milo bites his lip, quivering, “Fucking hell… do that again, you look so beautiful… I can handle a bit without your blood for a few seconds, if it means, hmm, means to hear you moan like that again.”
They nod, lidded eyes staring deep into his with a small smile on their face. Another graciously earned moan as Milo moves his hand with skill, prolonging the pleasure for them. This slow pace become agonizing to Milo, he needs their blood, he needs their pleasure, he needs to feast. He gives them a long throaty, shaky groan, his need spoken without words.
They bring a hand to his lips, fingers loosely pulling his bottom lip down before cupping his jaw, “Bite me.”
He tries to restrain himself, leaning down with vigor as he opens his mouth against their neck again. Their orgasm comes quick within the first few seconds of his teeth sinking into their skin. Their blood fuels him, but it also causes blood to rush somewhere else. He pulls his hand out from their bottoms, both hands grasping the sheets as he groans against their neck. He feels their legs wrap around his waist, nice and tight, a simple whimper of his name and he’s tumbled into his own orgasm as well. With a wet pop, Milo soon removes his mouth from their neck, kissing the punctures and licking any stray blood.
“Want… fuck, you taste so good, mmm…. But, do you want me to heal it?”
They shush him, “No, you’re probably high on my blood, let me do it…”
Milo laughs as they bring their hand to their neck, rolling it and then healing the punctures. He watches the skin clear up, before pressing a few more kisses. As they relax, Milo rubs his head against theirs.
“You are so good for me, Sweetheart, letting me feed on you like this, I love you so much.”
They smile up at him, giving him a proper kiss on his bloodstained lips, “I love you too.”
Taking advantage of his buzzed out state, Sweetheart moves him to lay on the bed. He lands with a soft ‘ooph’, closing his eyes and the pair immediately cling onto each other. They cuddle into him, and the last thing Sweetheart hears him mumble before sleep takes them…
“You make this life worth living…”
Palia, a casual mmorpg review
A friend of mine was hyping a new game she was playing: Palia. Mostly she was hyping her attempts to romance one of the NPCs, but enough other details leaked through that I decided to give it a try. And I liked it.
I'm generally not a fan of the mmorpg genre, partly because I hate being social, and mostly because I hate fighting and my reflexes absolutely suck. Palia, thankfully, is more casual/cozy, and while there is a hunting aspect, they're all prey animals that run away. There's no fighting. Thank the gods.
The basic premise of Palia is that humans died out/disappeared a long time ago, leaving the world to the majiri, who have pointy ears and purple skin. There's also the grimalkin, a race of alien felinoids who arrived a few centuries ago and set up shop. And there are galdur, robots who have been around since the Age of Humans.
For Mysterious Reasons one of Palia's deities, the Phoenix, has started dropping humans back into the world, particularly around the remote village of Kilima. That's where the PC comes in.
A lot of Palia is your standard fare (I think). You get to know the NPCs and build relationships with them through talking and gift-giving (which is an actual mechanic of the game). There are quests and loot piles, and a number of skills you're meant to level up in: Hunting, Fishing, Mining, Cooking, Furniture Crafting, Foraging, Bug Catching, and Gardening.
The mainline quest, of course, is trying to figure out what happened to the humans and why you're suddenly reappearing. The list of items needed in order to complete the first part of the quest was... unpleasant, IMO, and involved a lot of epic-level rarity items that take a hell of a lot of time and resources to gather. That, again, is pretty much par for the course with games like this: allll the grinding. I've posted about that before, but thanks to some advice I did finally manage to get everything I needed. My main source of stress on that score is that I am a completionist, so leaving a task unfinished was stressful for me. Hells, it took me a while to accept that I didn't need to finish all tasks/requests immediately, and those are mostly plot irrelevant.
Once you accept that you don't need to do all the things right now ASAP, it's a lot more fun. Even the main quest only recently unveiled part 2, and while it includes some new (and easier, IMO) tasks to complete, it's also more waiting for the "big" update coming in '25, when a new area will be made available. Or I assume that's what's going to happen.
You get to build and decorate a house, which has been more fun than I expected. Tish, in particular, will make expanding your house easier, and you will get hecktons of furniture from loot boxes, from Tish's store, from recipes you can build yourself, and from the Grimalkin underground market.
I've been enjoying playing, even when all my current quests are filled. Even when there's "nothing to do" there's still stuff to do, and selling off all your excess supplies gets you more money for buying more things.
The NPCs are, for the most part, a lot of fun to interact with, even if every single one of them seems to have some tragic backstory. The only character I don't like is Tamala, and I think it's partly calculated that way. She's the witchy "vamp" type character and flirts outrageously with anything that has a pulse. I understand the narrative purposes of characters like that and I know the majority of the time the attitude is manufactured to keep folks at a distance, but I still find her unpleasant, manipulative, and mean-spirited.
The only real issue I have is that some of the longer-term players are clique-y assholes who like to tear into newbies for not following the unspoken rules of the game. Which are, y'know, unspoken.
Most people are very understanding of newbies and have no problem politely explaining the community-developed courtesy of "wait to chop down the magic trees til everyone can get here," but there's a handful who choose to bitch at each other about it and shame folks for chopping "too soon" and thus "ruining" it for everyone else.
Here's the thing: the grove of "magic trees" appears every in-game midnight, and time moves a hell of a lot faster in Palia, so you can get multiple groves in a single day. There is absolutely no reason to act like an inflamed, pustulating asshole just because you couldn't chop one grove. There's no reason to make newbies feel bad for not knowing something, especially when no one fucking tells them.
Thankfully that group is in the minority. I think I've only seen newbie-bashing bitch-fests twice, but that's still two times too many, IMO. Especially for, and I really can't stress this enough, something that isn't an actual rule of the game. If it was a rule, folks wouldn't be able to chop early. I appreciate the courtesy of people waiting for everyone to gather, but acting as if it's some grievous crime is fucking bullshit. Ugh.
Anyway, the game itself is fun. I love nerdy girl Jina and her helicopter mom galdur friend Hekla. Widower Ashura has Big Dad energy. Uptight librarian Caleri and her conspiracy-loving twin Elouisa. Zeki the grimalkin scoundrel with a heart of gold. Tau, the best pupper. Lots of fun and friendly characters, and very little need to interact with other players. You can also block/mute people or just mute the whole server, which is nice.
I'd recommend it, especially for people who like the idea of an open-world RPG thing but are more interested in stories than fighting. You'll get a lot of stories with Palia.
IWTV S2 Ep6 Musings: Random (Spoilers)
This
Tumblr media
youtube
RJ wants Dan's body to get close to the vamps. He's still in the order, but already plotting a coup. But I reckon he's lying; he's not even tryna ask them any questions, he just wants to get in their presence so he can do the switch. The question remains: WHICH vamp does RJ want? (Naturally, he's arrogant enough to want Armand, an ancient, but my money's on him picking Louis as the safer bet; the weaker target who might not put up as much of a fight)
Tumblr media
I'd love to see this alleged list, but this old heifer's LYING, I can feel it in my bones. This is a GREAT concept if it's legit--the Talamasca using Daniel as a mole to learn more about vamps, and even collaborate, since the vamps are telling it all anyway--their subterfuge almost doesn't make any sense; just walk right up to them and be like hey, if you want to talk we're listening.
Tumblr media
Ok so Rashid & Raglan are in the same frame, so my theory about Rashid being Raglan's a bust. He could still be a Talamasca mole though; it's mighty sus how he doesn't bat an eyelash at Raglan chatting Daniel up. Then Rashid LIED to Armand about Dan!
Tumblr media
And LAZY AF Armand doesn't even scan their brains to verify!? OMFG! 🤦 You DESERVE every mutiny that happens under your roof, Armand, this is ridiculous. Why bother being a vampire if you won't even USE the powers you have? Don't be like effing LOUIS.
Tumblr media
(Gives me life every time.) Unfortunately, however, Santiago's nowhere near as dumb as they think--
Tumblr media
--Santiago gave the coven Claudia's diaries oml they're all reading them right in front of Claudia & Armand, the SAVAGERY--
Tumblr media
--not Sam too, omg, ain't a single vamp on Armand's side, yikes--
--and Louis should know better, since Lestat & Antoinette got the jump on him & Claudia before! Yes, Claudia had an extra plan, but THESE AIN'T FAMILY VAMPS; these vampires are VICIOUS! If Armand's lazy, Louis & Claudia are NAIVE AF! DANG.
Tumblr media
The coven is SKATING around Armand, this is sad. Santiago's playing 5D chess. (And Celeste & Estelle are maker-fledgling~! I see!).
Tumblr media
Wow, the IWTV-WWDITS crossover I didn't expect, "Let's Go Sunning" was also used in the end credits song in S01E06 when The Baron was BURNED ALIVE IN THE SUN I HATE Y'ALL SO MUCH!
final thoughts before i go back to regularly scheduled wwditsposting
I see a lot of peoples dislike for the finale comes from the things that never happened like nobody getting a real ending, no real conclusion to anything, no ships making it to canon.. all of the 'what ifs' never getting answers.. I agree to an extent, part of me wishes we got to see the things they set up for us..
However, my personal gripe is with the things that did happen.. so maybe i'm glad they left most of it up to us to imagine for ourselves. I suppose it's nice to know they're 'still living' and will always be on some silly shit.
I do feel especially vindicated because my favourite character got assassinated in maybe one of the worst ways imaginable with an extremely out of touch, out of character, pointless 'joke' that wouldn't have made a difference in the scene if she didn't say it. The Guide has never been treated well by the vamp family and the finale was no exception. We've come to expect it, it's just part of their hazing that I think even The Guide has learned to accept - even letting out a dejected 'yeah' when Laszlo asks her not to sing along with them for 'we'll meet again'. I just have to wonder who in the writers room decided to say 'yeah, they're cruel to her.... but not cruel enough'
I've never been happy with how The Guide was written after season 4 but I never really expected it to be a grim omen of things to come lol. Using her body as spare parts for a monster sex doll?? If at least one or two of the vamps actually defended her against this awful suggestion perhaps I could say 'haha funny joke but at least she has people who care about her!' but.. I can't say that. Not even the writers care enough about her to give her a dignified sendoff.
I'm invested and emotionally attached to this show and the characters just like everyone else and it's sad to have to say goodbye knowing they wont be coming back to us next year for another season. But just be glad they didn't make your favourite character a weird anti-immigrant loser at the last hurdle.
DOES BRAM EVEN HAVE A HEART OR OTHER ORGANS??? Because bro was impaled on a sword for so long so when he got his body back I figured he'd just be an empty husk (aside from having a brain ofc)
Ohoho, I bet you were expecting a joke about this, but PLOTTWIST, vampires are a topic I'm actually very passionate about, so let me hit you with some vampire 101. [Evil Laughter]
All in good fun, of course.
While Asagiri himself implemented (and straight up told the readers about it), some key strengths and weaknesses vampires commonly have (I'm talking about the scene where he tells Aya that now that Fukuchi wields the sword, all he has are all these weaknesses), there are two main facts he didn't directly mention but are important here:
A vampire's ability to regenerate
Vampires being considered unholy
We've seen both of these at work (directly and indirectly) in both manga and anime. The main scene, the one you're talking about, too, Anon, is the one where Aya removes the sword from Bram, and he instantly regains his lower half. We've also seen Bram wounded in flashbacks, in one of which an arrow pierced his eye, and his head was almost split apart by a sword, but none of these major wounds can be seen anymore.
That's where the regeneration ability comes in. Essentially, vampires in folklore and Bram Stoker's "Dracula" too, can regenerate their body rather quickly if hurt, which is one of the reasons they are considered to be so dangerous. Bram himself regenerated about ¼ of his body in a matter of seconds to save Aya.
But why didn't he before? Simple. Because of the Holy Sword Soluz Levni.
As stated before, vampires are considered to be unholy beings, and because of that, one of their key weaknesses is anything holy. Had Bram been cut apart and pierced by a normal sword (like how we saw in flashbacks before), he could have probably still regenerated normally.
Tumblr media
Maybe even with the sword still inside. But Soluz Levni, as a holy sword, prevents him from using any of his "unholy" abilities, both his actual ability and the ones that come with being a vampire.
The reason why this doesn't kill him (ignoring that vampires are technically already dead) is because while the sword prevents him from regenerating his body below where it has been cut off, it doesn't actually prevent said ability to keep him "alive" and functioning without organs.
(Also, if we look at the way the sword has pierced him, it didn't actually hit his heart, which would be one of his weaknesses, too.)
Tumblr media
So, to summarize this mess:
Soluz Levni prevents him from regenerating, but his vampiric abilities keep him alive even without organs. (Do vampires even need organs given that they're already dead? Probably not.)
Please keep in mind that while I'm passionate about this topic, I'm not an expert, and folklore changes based on where you live, so what I know about vamps might be different for you. I'm basing this mostly on Bram Stokers "Dracula" and European folklore.
In addition, Asagiri already forgot part of the traits he mentioned a few chapters ago, so who knows if this is even canon anymore. [shrugs]
I forgot to post stuffs.. lmao, i am alive!
~ Cold Blooded ~
Part 3
Winter king x vamp!reader
Warnings - mentions of blood, death, and injuries.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
"This door won't last long, you know that! Let me eat you!"
You started to hit the door harder.
"N-No! why don't I get you something red?"
Your hand busted through the door. You forced the hole bigger to where you could get out.
"That won't do anymore.. I want you.."
Winter blushed slightly at your sentence. He formed an ice wall in front of you.
"I-If you weren't a vampire, that would be considered flirting.."
You quickly destroyed the wall. You wouldn't let anything stop you from getting your meal. You quickly grabbed him and took his crown off.
"Y/N! ...Scouts, assistance!"
You flew up to the ceiling, so the scouts couldn't get to you. You put your legs around him so you could use your hands.
"Y-Y/N.. this is..."
Winter blushed even more. He never thought he'd be this close to you. He thought he didn't want to, but a part of him felt a little excited.
You grabbed his head, pushing it to the side so you could see his neck. You leaned closer to him.
"Winter.. you keep your pretty little neck so protected.. how annoying.."
You whispered to him and let go of his head. You quickly took his tie off and unbuttoned his shirt to reveal his neck.
"Y/N.. don't...."
You grabbed his head again, pushing it over so his neck was exposed. You ran your finger against it.
"Don't? Winter, it's far too late to plead with me... I'm far too hungry.."
".. just don't take too much.."
You sunk your teeth into his neck.
Winter gasped as you did this. He put his arms around you, digging his nails into your back. He clenched his teeth. He wasn't expecting this to hurt as badly as it did.
You rubbed your thumb against his face as you drank from him. It was a little weird since his blood was cold, but you weren't complaining. It was delicious.
He could feel himself beginning to lose consciousness. He put a hand on your head and tried to pull you off.
"Too much! Y/N, you're taking.. t-to much!"
You squeezed your legs around him even more to stop him from squirming around. He hit your head, snapping you out of it. You pulled your teeth out of him and licked the blood from his neck. You didn't want to waste his blood.
"Y/N.. s-stop that.."
You took your mouth off of him, and his neck was still bleeding a bit.
"It's getting wasted!"
You quickly licked the blood from his neck. You heard a quiet moan leave Winter's mouth.
"Do that again and I'll drop you.."
You blushed slightly. It was embarrassing to hear him.
"D-Don't drop me.. Y/N.."
He looked at you with a pathetic expression. You turned bright red and looked away from him.
"Quit looking at me like that! It's annoying!"
You looked down at the ground, his scouts were all in a circle with their swords ready, waiting for you to come down.
"Uh.. call off your scouts.. I can't put you down if they're going to attack me"
Winter nodded and snapped his fingers.
The scouts below put their weapons away. You put your arms around him and moved your legs off of him. You slowly floated down and sat him on the ground. Winter couldn't really stand on his own, so you held him.
"Dammit.. this is what I get for taking too much.. I hate this.."
"I.. I can walk.. I don't want to be this close to you anyway.. it's disturbing.."
You put a hand on his neck, pressing into the fresh bite wounds.
"Disturbing?!"
He clenched his teeth and grabbed your wrist, squeezing it tightly.
".. Stop it.."
You accidentally made more blood come out. You quickly pulled him closer to you and started licking his neck.
"Y/N! Quit it.. that's.. Ah!"
He quickly covered his mouth and squeezed his eyes shut. He didn't think he'd like being bitten or licked, but he did. He figured it was just because he hadn't been touched in a long time. You quickly let go of him once you felt something poking you. He fell to the ground and looked away from you.
"Winter.. that's disgusting! I'm just trying to eat..."
Your face was red. You quickly flew away from him, going to your room. You would leave, but it was day, still.
"Stupid.. why would he...? Does he...? No.. no, he couldn't. He hates me.."
You mumbled to yourself as you flew down the halls. You stopped when you realized you forgot where your room was.
"Dammit.. this thing's a maze!"
You quickly looked around and tried to remember where the room was.
A scout stopped you.
"The king wants to see you.. follow me"
You looked at the scout. You still held a grudge against them.
"I'm not going anywhere with you.."
"Are you still upset about getting stabbed? I can assure you those scouts have been.. dismissed.."
You got confused. Why would he get rid of scouts like that? You crossed your arms and sighed loudly.
"Alright.. fine, but I don't trust you.."
The scout led you to Winter's throne room.
He had his jacket and vest off, his shirt still unbuttoned. He looked exhausted and a little messy. He was far from the perfect and pristine man you were used to seeing. Winter had a scout wrapping bandages around his neck.
"Oh.. Y/N.. you're here.."
"You're a mess.."
He pushed the scout away and stood up. He walked towards you.
"You did this.. you should learn to control yourself!"
You crossed your arms and looked away from him.
"I gave you plenty of warnings.. you just didn't leave in time.."
"Come.."
Winter sighed and walked back to his throne. He sat down and rested his head on his hand.
You followed him to his throne, sitting in the air in front of him.
"Y/N.. um.. you could stay longer if you'd like.. you don't have to leave right away.."
You tilted your head and furrowed your brow. You were trying to figure out why he'd even want you to stay, then you remembered.
"W-Winter.. you're just saying that because.... that.. thing you did.. it's gross, you know!"
Winter started to blush. He crossed his arms and looked away from you.
"I-It's involuntary.. trust me, I would never..not with you.. You're infuriating and insufferable"
Winter shook his head. You just stared at him for a moment, and then you turned around.
"Insult me more.. but I'm not sticking around to hear it.."
"Wait.. I... Y/N, I wanted to talk to you"
You waved your hand around and started to fly off. Winter grumbled a bit and got up. He followed you. He tried to grab your arm or something so he could stop you. You looked back at him and put your arms in front of you so you wouldn't get grabbed.
"Quit following me!"
"I'm trying to talk to you!"
You shook your head and started to fly faster.
"I don't wanna hear it. You're annoying!"
Winter sighed loudly. He glided on the icy floor. It was faster than running. He caught up to you.
"Y/N, just listen!"
"No!"
You turned away from him, trying to get away.
Winter grabbed your arm tightly.
"Let me go.. I thought I wasn't a prisoner anymore.."
"You're not.. but.. this is the only way you listen to me.. just come back to the throne room"
He let go of your arm and walked off. He put a hand on his hair, pushing it back and out of his face. You got an idea. You felt way better now that you had a proper meal, so you wanted to see if you were any faster. You flew past Winter and stole his crown. You moved to his throne room and sat down in it, looking at the crown.
"What..?"
Winter was confused. He touched the top of his head, and the crown was missing. He saw something move beside him, but it was too fast to make out. He figured it was you. He crossed his arms and quickly went to his throne room.
"Y/N! Get up and give that back!"
He walked up to you and tried to take the crown from you. You held it out of his reach.
"Dammit, Y/N! Give it back!"
He reached for the crown. He didn't notice himself climbing onto the throne. His main concern was getting his crown back. He pressed himself against you and grabbed your arm.
"Too close!"
You turned red and pushed him out of your lap. You threw his crown at him.
"Y/N! You insolent little.."
He quickly got up and put the crown on.
An ice collar formed on your neck, a chain was attached to it, and he was holding the end of it
"W-Wha-"
You got pulled out of the throne. You fell on the floor in front of him. You slowly sat up and put your hand on your neck.
"The hell is this!? Am I a prisoner or not!? You can't just.."
It melted off of you. He was just using it to get you out of his throne. Winter sat down and crossed his legs.
"You're not...."
You got up and looked at him. You still had a hand on your neck. You looked angry and upset. You felt still felt like his prisoner.
