This idea that Zeus doesn't care for his sons and only loves his daughters needs to die because it's a load of nonsense. As if Apollo wasn't the only god permitted access to his mind and one of the few who can use the attributes of Zeus like the aigis and lightning, as if Hermes was not his right-hand man, as if he did not willingly put himself through the inconvenience of growing a baby inside his body and giving birth to it in order to ensure Dionysos can develop properly, as if he didn't consider changing fate in order to save Sarpedon during the Trojan War and then mourned his death, as if he wasn't described as feeling pain when seeing Herakles suffer and did not send him assistance several times.

tw: mention of r4pe and SA.
.
.
.
.
I really love Medusa, outside PJO, and she is a great character of greek mythology, however i'm kinda conflicted and between the sword and the wall, with some of Rick's decision, the reaction of pjo fans and ppl who love Roman and Greek myths
I get that Rick wanted to explore the narrative of the roman version (Poseidon r4p1ng,SAd or abuse her and Athena blamed her and turned her into stone), because it got popular for the narrative of the women and victims getting blamed and villianized and punished for the actions caused by men and abusers, in religion, and it got turned into a symbol of "me too" and causes more ppl to want to raise awareness.
Nothing wrong with the purpose,I'm all for BRINGING AWARENESS to others about r4p3,SA,sexual violence, etc. Everyone who is not sick, wants those non consensual acts that harm ppl to dissapear
but I think he could have used another myth to explore those topics, because using that portrayal of Medusa and Poseidon, makes things weirder??, for these reasons:
1. The book portrays Poseidon's and Percy's father-son dynamic: Percy's anger towards his father, but VERY deep down, craving for some of his attention, shifting towards a neutral, polite leaning towards a positive relationship, and the book portrays him like a man that is trying to be a cool father, despite his mistakes. And the book sometimes praises him for that??
Having in mind, the pjo series is supposed to teach and make kids,no matter their gender, sexual and romantic orientation, race and nationality, neurodivergencies and disabilities, we all can be amazing, smart, talented in our own ways, and deserve the same respect, wouldn't the parent-child dynamic Percy and Poseidon be weird? If ur main character keeps contact with someone like that??.
Wouldn't that normalize more than already is, of ppl,but mostly men, of keeping contact with nasty men, just because he is a relative or a friend?? and didn't hurt you?.
2. Why THE Sally Jackson, dated someone like Poseidon or even finishing in good terms?? like if my ex bf was an abuser with other ppl and not me. It doesn't matter, that relationship is ending in bad terms??
"Rick said he wanted to explored it. But he didn't say Medusa got r4ped,maybe he just abused of power. Or athena blamed Medusa because Poseidon crushed on her, pg-13"
Come on, Medusa's lines and way of wording references the roman version, besides everyone even kids ranging from 10-12 know what happened to Medusa
"But myths changes and develop, just to send a message, provides awareness"
You guys literally CHANGED the ORIGINAL myth of Persephone/Hades/Demeter, which HADES KIDNAPPED PERSEPHONE, AND DEMETER SEARCHING FOR HER DAUGHTER., and rewrite it with Persephone going WILLINGLY WITH HADES, just for u to fit the narattive of a "goth bad boy scary looking with bad reputation, but is chill and dates a flower softy girls, that he treats like queen".
and the reaction that the pjo fandom had to Medusa's backstory, is similar to any other fandom when a traumatised character exists, that can be harmful, it feels like a way of romanticizing? and I'm tired of it
"I'm glad they gave Medusa more depth"
Can we as a society stop acting like being victim of mental/physical/sexual abuse?, or any kind of trauma, gives you more depth??. No, trauma doesn't give us depth or make us more complex. Our point of view, our philosophy, our interests, our talents, our personalities does.
Because of that, I have seen middle schoolers and teenagers wanting some sort of trauma, just to be complex?? Which is sad and alarming.
I'm not sure what Riordan is planning or how is going to not mess up,but I hope I can see more of the cast acting more scenes of the book.

Why I like Percy
Tumblr media
“In a way, it's nice to know that there are Greek gods out there, because you have somebody to blame when things go wrong."
If you've been reading my posts about all of my favorite fictional characters and why I like them, you should have noticed by now that I'm a big fan of characters that capture themes of tragedy and struggle, while also being a big fan of people who know how to use humor as part of their charm, so of course I'm gonna like a character who has themes based on greek myths.
Percy Jackson is another great example of a mix of tragedy and humor, and that's why I adore this kid.
The boy's entire story is about constantly facing against ridiculously impossible situations one after another with little to say in the matter and just doing his best to come out alive from it in the end.
Fighting monsters, being framed for a crime, losing his mother, falling from a building, getting bullied by strangers, being tricked and betrayed by his allies (and that's all just in the first book), sometimes it feels like the author hates this guy...
But having a hard life isn't the only reason I like him. The true reason is that, despite all these things that keep happening to him, Percy always remains a really charming person to listen to.
Tumblr media
I can't exactly put my finger on what it is but something about the way Rick Riordan writes Percy's dialogue just makes him feel like such a charming person to talk to. It kinda makes me wish I could chat with this kid, he just seems so fun to hang out with.
He is always making sarcastic comments in front of dreadful situations, always looking at the positive aspects of the people around him whenever they find something about themselves they don't like, always trying to make something that would otherwise be big and epic just feel ridiculous and silly...
I don't know... Percy's just cool to me. He's just a really cool and nice guy, and he's not even trying to be, he's just trying to not go crazy from the absurdity that is his life by trying to be chill about it, a really fun type of chill.
I like that he's always laughing at his own misery so he can still get the job done, I like that he always treats his loved ones nicely even despite all the stress he has to handle, I like how he is so powerful and achieved so many things but remains so humble, I like how he is kinda of a dork as well that will say something completely stupid because he couldn't be bothered to think twice before talking (he named a Titan "Bob" and an Ophiotaurus "Bessie!"), and I love how he actually tries to look at his own mistakes and listen to the advice of others in order to grow.
Whenever I think of the perfect "cool" character, I always think of Percy. He's the kind of guy you wish you could hang out with and you wish you could be more like.

How I’d rate the Gods/Goddesses(riordanverse)
This is my rating based off the way Rick Riordan portrayed them in the Riordanverse. The traditional myths have been taken into account but do not make up my entire opinion.
Hestia:
10/10 would give my life for this goddess. In all aspects of the word, this goddess is a goddess. I want a novella of her watching over the hearth and watching out for her family and the heroes. I imagine her being a very comforting presence and warm like a hug, and maybe this is me projecting my mummy issues but I just want her to hug me.
Dionysus:
A solid 7.35/10 for Mr D. Naturally he was a bit annoying, but we were never under the pretence that he he was meant to be anything more than what he provided and I respect that. Him caring about his kids at camp, and staying relatively loyal to his wife is always a plus. And I like his relatively humble beginnings being a hero and becoming a god and then not causing that much trouble in the series. Unlike some other pieces of shit.
Hermes:
4/10. Mans had no right blaming Luke’s thirst for mass genocide on 16 year old Annabeth. Not cool man. Not cool. He gets the points he got because he did genuinely care about Maia, and Luke, but he lost the rest of them by having a blatant favourite (who literally caused so much destruction). However I do still like his line about family in sea of monsters and never giving up on them. Nice meaning. But he was still a shitty father and only intervened out of self interest most of the time.
Aphrodite:
2/10. I hate how low I have to rank her. But my god did Rick do her dirty in his depiction. Just the misogyny, the lack of depth, and the untouched potential she has as a character, as a goddess, THE OLDEST GOD/GODDESS and Rick really made her throw rose petals around the battle fields on one of (what was meant to be) the biggest fights of the riordanverse. Absolute robbery. If I’m not mistaken as well, she was a huge contributor to the issues and obstacles percabeth went through and we do not Stan. HOWEVER, I love her as a goddess normally, and what she could represent if she’s written properly.
Hephaestus:
8/10. I have no qualms with this man. I too prefer the company of inanimate objects to people and get stressed about social interaction. And I too have mummy issues. So me and Hephaestus are on the same page. Let this man tinker away in his little bunker. He never went out of his way to make things harder for demigods, and was helpful when they came to him for help which I can also respect. (Point deduction because it was on his land that Bianca died…if I’m not mistaken).
Ares:
-12/10. This man was introduced as a bully, and gives off the vibes of every phobic, known to humanity. I do not vibe. I do not agree. I do not stan. ALSO his motorbike seat is apparently made from "Caucasian human skin”!!!!!!???? We as children never questioned this? We just went sure aight move on?! Please this man has the biggest small dick energy if I ever saw it and I despite him so much. Mans was also never helpful. Ever. I don’t think. I think Mars was better than him though so I’ll give him that.
Artemis:
9.99/10 all hail queen of the lesbians. Mad respect to this woman. In what she stands for, who she protects and in her actions. She’s what I embody when I stand up for myself in fights and when I speak to have my voice heard. I like Rick’s depiction of her and I love seeing her and her hunters pop up in his books. Would love a couple books on the hunters and their adventures. Also I love archery. And I’m biased to the moon because I love the night so she gets extra points for all of that too.
Apollo:
Prior to Trials of Apollo 7/10, after TOA 9.90/10. Yes it’s a big jump but my god did Lester grow on me. Prior to TOA he was pretty average. He was funny, always provided a good laugh to the plot and was always helping the demigods which I loved. But I know he’s an asshole full of himself so I can’t give him any higher than that until he had some character development, which we got in TOA (specifically after Burning Maze). And I really like who he is now and the type of character Rick shaped him out to be. In the myths he’s a big creep, and I still stand by that idea, hence why he doesn’t get a full 10.
Athena:
3.5/10…ughhh I hate to say this. But part of it is the same reasoning I gave about Aphrodite. I just have so many issues with the way she’s portrayed and it’s not accurate to what I believe in my heart she should represent. And as a child of Athena, I feel like Rick then did her entire legacy dirty. She has her moments, but since I can’t even fully recall one right now, it just proves my point. As a goddess as a whole though, what she represents is everything I aspire to be in life. She’s my entire aesthetic of hard work, creativity, and strength and grit, without taking away of being a powerful female. Zeus’ lead strategist like shit, Rick could have done so much. But he did not. And I am thus sad about it.
Demeter:
6/10. I have no issues with Demeter. Kinda boring. I think that’s what most of the fandom thinks as well. She just didn’t get enough screen time or development. I have no attachment to her. I think the powers that she has, and has passed on to her kids is cool though so there’s that. But in the series as well she doesn’t do much. She also (initially) doesn’t fight in the battle of Manhattan so maybe I’m slightly bitter there. But yeah, i’m indifferent.
Hades:
8.99/10 Okay so hear me out I know this man gets so much bad rep in the myths and that’s part of why he doesn’t get a full 9. But I really really love the way he’s depicted in the riordanverse, especially with his entire arc with his kids/specially with Nico. Like literally one of my favourite quotes In the entire series is “my children are so rarely happy, I would like to see you be the exception.” Out of the gods listed here (and excluding Dionysus), he acts like a genuine parent to his kids and tries. And like there’s issues, sure, but he works on them. And since so much of the first series is about how the gods are neglectful, seeing him change and seeing him fight for Nico is my everything.
Poseidon:
7.1/10. Honestly this feels too high considering mans was nearly If not just as bad as Zeus in keeping it in his dam pants. His points come from treating Sally like the queen she is, and trying with Percy (albeit too little too late but I can see the minimal effort). That being said, he’s really shitty in the myths so I can’t really give him anything higher than this. He’s barely a dad, and sees Percy more as an ally than an actual son or human being that needs attention. I like him more in Fanon and the way that I write him lmao because I humanise him. But I won’t lie he’s dilf material, and I still like rick’s depiction of him.
Hera:
3/10 I’m surprising myself with this rating because tbh I might even push her to 4.5 just because she’s so consistent in her own goals and agenda, and that perseverance is very admirable even if it was at the cost of some of my favourite characters. She was very much two faced though and fucked around stuff that she should have stayed out of. Her hatred for literal children though is a bit problematic. I have no attachment to her but I admire how much she just wants a family. However she just really needs to assess how she approaches that since it’s a bit messed up.
Zeus:
-5/10 I really don’t Zeus, his character, him in the myths, everything about him. He gives off the vibes of a man who abuses the power that he was given. And I don’t like that. It makes me uncomfortable and I don’t like him at all. His treatment of his children, of the demigods, and the way he governs Olympus. Not a fan. I could rule Olympus better and I’m a mentally unstable, serotonin deficient 20 year old with a hyper fixation on greek mythology and Minecraft. However despite not liking his character, I think Rick does a great job at depicting him accurately to how he was in the myths.

Chapter 9 - I Am Offered a Quest
Theme of the day: Responsibility
HOW BOUT THAT NEW BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT HUH
I find it kinda wack that some people are like this new pjo book is a MONEY GRAB like Riordan himself didn't basically say exactly that in the announcement 😂 The sole purpose is to promote the show. Like so what. He can TAKE MY MONEY. LET'S GOOO 🤙🏾
I find it absolutely hilarious that after saving the world twice and also being praetor for a hot sec, New Rome is still like no exceptions lmao. I hope after these quests he finally gets some rest 🙏🏾
Now onto Percy’s very first quest!
The chapter starts out with Percy getting some new responsibilities: now that he’s claimed, he gets his own cabin by himself and automatically becomes head counselor, so he can pick his own activities and call lights out whenever he wants, among other responsibilities. Which normally would be great! But in exchange he’s ostracized once more bc of being the son of Poseidon. He finally found a new home within the camp and in cabin 11 yet he’s lost it all. And also now that he’s claimed, Percy is officially offered a quest, which is a HUGE responsibility in itself without considering the fact that he’s going to the underworld to find Zeus’s symbol of power. The kid’s got a lot on his plate lol.
I swear I pick these themes at random and yet so often find the words in the chapters lmao. This time it’s how the gods aren’t held responsible for the actions of a hero. Which is a little wild when heroes are enlisted by gods to do their bidding. This is another issue that comes up throughout the series, because so often do demigods and mortals get punished for the actions of the gods. I mean take Hera and Zeus for example: Hera takes her anger on the women Zeus seduces/rapes and their subsequent children instead of the man himself for being unfaithful. The gods not being held responsible also extends to their children too, how they’re barely in their children’s lives if at all. I mentioned last post that Poseidon is stated to be using Percy for his own benefit when he hasn’t really made any contact with Percy before (I just thought it was at the end of the book! Not the next chapter ahaha) and Percy is justifiably resentful and angry, but he’s also a little happy that Poseidon needs him. The range of emotions that Percy go through at this time is so real though. Because whether or not their birth parent is in their life or not and how they feel about them, often children will still want to be accepted by them. For now, it seems Percy is postponing his judgment.
I don’t think I’ve ever touched upon Percy’s relationship with his step-father but now seems like a good time for it. Since this is a middle school level series, any domestic abuse is heavily sanitized. There’s only small moments like Gabe immediately taking whatever money Percy has for gambling, his neglect of Percy in general, the fact Percy can easily recognize an alcoholic, stuff like that. Gabe obviously doesn’t take much responsibility for Percy despite being the only father figure he’s ever known so far. It’s hard to say whether Sally and Percy suffered any physically abuse, it can certainly be assumed or hc’ed, but idk I’d like to believe that Sally would draw that line when finding someone who could hide Percy’s demigod presence. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking. I really hate that news article though. It’s not surprising that Gabe would throw Percy under the bus, but I can’t believe the journalist would jump onto that and blame a child for a freak accident and his mom’s disappearance. Ugh.
The prophecy vision Percy has of Gabe at his gambling table gave me a thought. The only other time in the pjo series that Percy is present for a prophecy being given is in the Titan’s Curse when the Oracle visits Zoe Nightshade and shows her Artemis in chains. So maybe the visions have to do with the person’s fears or traumas? Gabe and his gambling buddies would certainly fall into one of those. But also like... why give those kinds of visions. What’s their purpose? It’s no wonder some go insane when visiting the Oracle.
The original trio has been brought together! Reading those final few pages of the chapter was so nostalgic 🥹 Like when Grover’s like I won’t let you down and then Percy’s just SO relieved he not only doesn’t have to face this quest alone, but he gets to have his best friend with him makes me SO SOFT. And ofc we can’t forget Annabeth’s very grand entrance and iconic line if you’re going to save the world I’m the best person to keep you from messing up. Like this is such a perfect moment to end an episode. I will go feral when it happens.
Small things:
Percy’s dream is interesting bc it’s basically the same as the one he had at Montauk, but this time the eagle and horse are replaced with the gods themselves, he’s in a clearer location, and the evil voice Kronos actually speaks 👀
The prophecy line you shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend is really fascinating bc it’s not one you call friend. Like this is someone that  genuinely likes and cares about you but betrays you anyway and I will analyze that later
I wonder if the Oracle had moved to see Percy when he arrived bc she sensed that he specifically would fulfill the Great Prophecy or if it was just bc he was a Big Three child and could fulfill it, and thus end her curse
We get the first uses of Seaweed Brain and Wise Girl! <3

✨My (maybe) Unpopular Heroes of Olympus Opinions✨
(maybe part one??? idk)
-I don’t really ship any of the main canon ships in HoO. None of them had any chemistry and most of them are either pedophilic, forced and rushed, or toxic in some way
-Most of the characters that were shoved into relationships (Leo, Nico, and Hazel especially) really did not need a love interest to complete their character arcs and their relationships ended up boring and flat cause Riordan just wanted everyone to have a love interest and it never went deeper than the skin
-Piper took advantage over Jason’s amnesiac state and manipulated him. She really went ‘But what if he has a girlfriend he can’t remember 👉👈 it would be wrong to start a relationship with him while he still has amnesia 👉👈 and cause it was based off lies and fake memories 👉👈 lmao imma just jump all over him and make him fall for me while he’s still amnesiac 🤪’ as if that’s not taking advantage over someone’s mental state
-And then she blamed her relationship being forced on Aphrodite and Hera saying they ‘forced her into a relationship’ and ‘arranged their relationship’ even though Aphrodite never said anything about or did anything to them and Hera gave Piper fake memories of them being a couple but it was Piper’s conscious choice to act out on those memories she knew were fake and her relationship was in no way influenced by anyone (especially Hera and Aphrodite) other than herself
-Shelper and Solangelo were way too rushed and forced (inside and outside of the books) and were only added for publicity, plus it seems like most of the fandom only like them cause they’re LGBTQ+ ships
-I hate Pipeyna and Pipabeth. My girls (especially Reyna) deserve better than some manipulative little girl who went ‘we were friends? no weren’t ❤️’
-The fandom portrays the characters really inaccurately (tweaking them a bit for humor is fine, but changing their entire personality is a different thing)
-The movies actually aren’t that bad when not compared to the books (I mean, you gotta admit- it’s pretty good effects for 2010)
-And speaking of the movies, they did a better job at portraying Thalia and Annabeth’s relationship in one movie than Riordan did in 5+ books
-Speaking of which, Riordan wrote pretty much every platonic friendship that weren’t Thalia/Nico and Reyna horribly and most of them shouldn’t have been friends and wasted all the potential for the good friendships
-Calypso should’ve joined the Hunters, not Reyna
-Annabeth and Piper are horrible friends lmao (separately and together)
-Silena is a hero and deserves redemption, but Luke doesn’t despite most of the fandom agreeing he does (he was a pedophile y’all)
-The fandom over-exaggerated the Tartarus fall, it wasn’t really that bad tbh
-Reyna is stronger and a better leader than Annabeth
-Annabeth’s intelligence is more tell than show (and quite a few characters including Leo, Reyna, and Octavian have shown more intelligence than her)
-Riordan over-glorifies and overpowers Percy way too much. Just cause he’s the main character doesn’t mean he has to be the best of the best after barely 8 months of training (four years at CHB only in the summers is 8 months total)
-Speaking of which, Jason can beat Percy (8 months versus Jason’s twelve years) and so can Annabeth, Reyna, Thalia, Hylla, Luke, Hazel and maybe Frank and Nico. Percy’s skill is overrated and unrealistic
-And I feel like most of the fandom knows that Jason can beat Percy but just doesn’t want to admit it cause they like Percy more
-Same thing with the Greeks and Romans- the majority know the Romans are stronger and can easily beat the Greeks but they don’t want to believe it cause they favor the Greeks more
-Percy and Annabeth shouldn’t have been part of the Seven, they already had their chance to shine. Riordan should’ve brought minor characters into light instead
-And Piper shouldn’t have been part of the Seven either. Riordan really expects me to believe that she’s stronger, more powerful, and a greater/better hero and deserved to be part of the Seven more than Reyna, Nico, Clarisse, Thalia, etc.?
-Riordan’s women line-up of Reyna, Annabeth, Hazel, and Piper was really cheap and boring (Avengers: Endgame women line-up who?)
-Percy (in HoO) and Piper are easily some of the worst, most underdeveloped characters Riordan has ever written
-Annabeth got really bland and weak in HoO and couldn’t do shit for herself without others (especially newbies) having to help and/or save her. She pretty much became exclusively Percy fangirl
-As much as I like them, Frank and Hazel don’t have what it takes to be Praetors and Reyna and Jason should’ve stayed as them
-Jason’s whole ‘am I more Greek or Roman’ arc was dumb af
-Riordan’s bias towards the Romans is also dumb af (the Romans could beat the Greeks in an instant)
-Jeyna is and always will be 1000x better than Jiper
-Hazel is the most powerful demigod (way more than Percy and even Jason)
-My hot take on who should’ve been the Seven: Reyna, Nico, Thalia, Frank, Hazel, Leo, and Clovis (son of the god of sleep puts Gaea back to sleep who?)
-Riordan confirming Piper bi was a cheap move to make her more likable. It didn’t even make any sense. A character is confirmed LGBT only after they become a minor character despite being a main character before and kisses some random unnamed girl only three months after her ex-boyfriend whom she still loved dies??? girl what??? Kinda obvious it was just for publicity. Like- Riordan, honey, the LGBTQ+ community is not a circus you can plop your characters into to make them more entertaining❤️
-The PJ series as a whole isn’t that creative. It’s legit just a copy of exactly what past mythological figures have already done and a bunch of character tropes and clichés shoved into one book
-And in general it’s not even that well-written (like HP, it’s over-exaggerated a lot)
-All of the romantic relationships and platonic friendships are extremely unrealistic. Like they never argue/fight, disagree, etc. (then grow stronger from those fights) at all??? Even if they’re complete opposites???
-Reyna is the best-written character in the whole series and a queen she deserved better and y’all sit on her too much
-Theyna is ✨amazing✨ their dynamic and chemistry was just *mwah Pansexual Muslim blessings to you* and people are allowed to ship them even though they’re Hunters and swore off love
-Rachel doesn’t deserve all the hate she gets. Y’all hate on her cause she crushed on Percy when half of you are doing the same thing and then y’all go and ship Percy with Nico, Jason, Artemis, Athena, etc.
-If y’all want to hate on Jason for ‘not having a personality’ you’d also have to hate on most of the main HoO characters except Reyna, Nico, and Leo (and maybe Hazel) for the same reason cause they have the exact same problem tbh
-Zoë and Bianca’s deaths weren’t actually that sad. We didn’t get to see them enough nor did they have enough development for their deaths to have a real impact. The only sad thing about them was Zoë’s last words and Nico’s reaction
-Thalia needed more time in the books
-Reyna was the only main female character in HoO that wasn’t a boring, bland Mary Sue that all the other characters automatically loved. She was the only one with real flaws and distinct personality traits she’s my queen
-Piper, Annabeth, and Calypso did have flaws but the fact that they weren’t called out by other characters or even noticed are what makes them Mary Sues. It doesn’t matter how many flaws a character has, if they’re not called out by other characters (more specifically, other protagonists who actually like them) they don’t count as real character flaws
-Riordan can’t write female characters for shit
-Clarisse, Drew, and Octavian deserved better than being completely antagonized for no explained reason other than to make the protagonists seem better and to make the readers root for them. Those three had more potential than most of the Seven combined
-The whole ‘Aphrodite kids don’t train’ thing is bs. It’s specifically stated that all the demigods follow a strict schedule and have to follow it or they’ll be on stable duty or smth and the Aphrodite kids shouldn’t (and can’t) be excused from that
-Therefore, Drew should be way more powerful and skilled than Piper, at least enough to not back down automatically from a duel by a newbie who hasn’t even learned how to fight (Drew can control an entire cabin of people at once and Piper can barely control one person at a time, who’s more powerful again??)
-Also I have no idea why Riordan portrays all the Aphrodite kids as weak and girly in the first place. ‘Femininity’ and ‘weakness’ are not synonymous and ‘love’ and ‘beauty’ don’t equal ‘feminine’
-Speaking of which, love is actually really powerful but Piper doesn’t stand for love or ‘inner beauty’ and all her ‘thoughtful/insightful’ quotes in ToA/TBM about love were complete bs
-Riordan using the LGBTQ+ community for the sole purpose of making Piper seem more likable and ‘special’ was disgusting and proves he thinks that straight is the default- “...Or Hera’s ideas of what a perfect couple looked like. Piper finding her own way, not the one people expected of her” my ass. In other words, he’s saying ‘The expectations for love and the idea of a perfect couple are a heterosexual relationship, and anyone who 'finds their own way instead of the ones people expect’ are different’. ‘Different’ and ‘default’ are antonyms, so if you think LGBT people are different, then you think that straight is the default. Aphrodite is the goddess of love not heteronormative bullshit. Like Riordan, honey, you’re the one who thinks that the expectations for love and the idea of a perfect couple are heterosexual couples, not fictional gods from a fictional mythology. Remember kiddos- an author writes their own beliefs
If you don’t agree with some of these that’s fine sis it doesn’t matter if you have different opinions than me❤️

I've seen that a part of the fandom seems to think Percy treated Nico horribly or something, but I don't remember anything like that at all. I thought Percy was better to Nico than most people. I thought you'd be able to clarify, where did the whole Percy treated Nico badly thing come from? Is there something I'm forgetting? Thoughts?
Probably came from the part of the fandom that’s just whack. Like, from the antis who hate Nico/Percy and scramble for any “reason” to hate it, because they can’t just say “hey, this isn’t my taste! That’s okay! I’ll be over there, with the thing I like instead, you have fun with yours!”, they need ““valid”“ reasons to hate a ship so they’ll overexaggerate things. There are also, weirdly enough, people in this fandom who dislike Percy - and yes, yes, in a fandom that bears said character’s name and tells five whole books from said character’s perspective it is fundamentally weird if you ARE in this fandom and dislike the titular protagonist why are you even here - so, yeah, I’m sure a lot of it is also just bullshit to hate on Percy and, potentially, to prop certain other things; characters or *cough* ships, up. So, I’m sure that about 85% of those complaints root from those three things.
The other 15% are somewhat based in reality.
Like, Percy being kinda dismissive and annoyed by overly excitable kid Nico when they first met. When. Uh. Percy was a whole kid himself back then and yeah you can get annoyed? Some people also think Percy should have done “more” for Nico in PJO and be nicer to him. More than... spend literally over a year searching everywhere for Nico, trying to find him and bring him back to camp?
I’ll give them one thing; Percy’s reaction in Mark of Athena wasn’t stellar, when Nico had just been kidnapped and tortured and nearly died and Percy was like “I wanna wring his neck for lying to me” - but, deadass, that was less Percy and more Riordan; he wrote real shit in that book, because this was also the book that brought us Annabeth judo-flipping Percy to punish Percy for getting kidnapped and memory-wiped. Riordan was on a real victim-blaming streak there and on a “this child has just been traumatized? Better add physical violence For Funsies!”.
For some reason, Riordan really laid heavy on “villainizing” Percy in HoO; the forgotten promises part, making it look like Percy was a shit friend to Bob and to Calypso and to Nico and then making his own fucking girlfriend act like she’s afraid of him in Tartarus because even she isn’t sure what he’s capable of. It was like a bizarre mirror world where Riordan tried to play dark!Percy but uh with our regular Percy and no real base...?
So I can somewhat see where people took that awful canon characterization of Percy and just applied it to that.
But you’d have to ask someone who actually believes that shit for their opinion on why they think Percy treated Nico poorly, because seeing as how I don’t subscribe to that warped perception of reality I am truly not of much help on that matter. xD

THANK YOU for bringing up Hera’s treatment in pjo and in general myths. She deserved better characterization. I can’t really think of any myths Hera’s involved in where she is anything but victim of Zeus or lashing out at innocents. There’s plenty of negative, Sure, but Hera’s positive traits obviously EXIST bc otherwise why would people, especially women, have worshipped her back then? But just as her violent nagging sitcom wife character was favored by ancient men writing, rick follows that.
I hard agree anon.
I have to admit that I’m a strong Hera advocate and I feel that she’s largely misunderstood and misrepresented. Sometimes on purpose. Again, sexism. More on that later.
Yes, she did horrible deeds in consideration to hunting the affair products of her husband down. They’re innocent bystanders. But her hands are tied as she can’t directly punish Zeus because he is the higher-up in the pantheon. Flimsy excuse? Probably. But degrading her for feeling her pain? Shitty move, in my opinion. Also she’s one of many gods that did horrible things (from our modern point of view). There are few that (would’ve) acted better than her when it comes to revenge and rage.
Let’s be honest - who wouldn’t burst into tears and boiling anger when their partner arrives at home, says “Yeah, by the way I impregnated another woman,” and essentially gives it a thumbs up and pops some bubblegum?
Hera is one of the most important gods because her domains directly involve us. Family. Marriage. Women. The sky and the stars of heaven. Children. A certain type of love, if you want to say so. I interpret it that way. There’s a reason why her cult exists. Riordan could’ve done so so much and yet... he didn’t. And my question is simply why?
Tackling Greek myth is very difficult as tales and personas of the gods vary from each narrative and Greek culture. The way Riordan approached them just doesn’t give them proper representation as their fundamentals, their basis, pretty much lack from the get go, however. This is largely due to the world building as the PJO series touches on Greek myth aspects but really doesn’t dive into them. We’re supposed to follow Percy and co. and not necessarily the surroundings.  The monsters get a sorta better rep than the actual gods as they’re truly side characters and thus lack fundamental development. I mean, PJO started as a bedtime story for a little boy, so no wonder that monster slashing is a larger focal point.
I appreciate Riordan for trying, but he as someone who (I think) even taught about mythology in school, could’ve done a different approach. However, I’m getting off-track. Riordan wrote the goddesses in such a degrading and sexist manner while gods are essentially these cool dudes. I mean just look at how Poseidon got his “Shane Dawson docu-series revamp” in PJO. He went from rather cold and unapproachable to “dad of a year” in a book or two. I mean - how and why?
And Hera is reduced to the cold-hearted bitch that does nothing but hunt kids... because...of what exactly now? And like I said, other goddesses (i.e. Aphrodite and Demeter) got a sorta redemption arc through the fandom. Hera doesn’t get that. It’s pretty much the polar opposite. I mean there’s this post floating around talking about Percabeth not marrying because Hera would be the one starting shit. I saw that and my mind immediately went ???? That post has 2k notes for some reason. That post is the perfect depiction (nothing against OP! I know it was a gag but still) of what’s wrong with Hera’s depiction in the series. And probably beyond that in general.
There’s literally no reason for her to go after the kids of other gods...? They’re none of her concern and I’m pretty sure she’d be way too busy to start stuff with people “just because she can”.
It’s easy for people to put Hera into this “evil monster”-box because it’s a sorta victim blaming approach. Instead of focusing on the root of the issue (Zeus), you rather focus too much on her methods/behavior and don’t question why it exists in the first place. Because putting the woman into the evil category is much easier (and more fun!). We see evil men all the time so you’re kinda desensitized to it. But when it’s a woman - dramatic gasp! And when you place her into the evil stepmother box? Perfect! More reasons to irrationally hate her. Sounds like projection from too many bland fairytales at best, but okay.
With the Trials of Apollo Riordan gives another perspective into the abuse of Zeus but I still find it disheartening that even Apollo sees nothing more but the spiteful stepmother in Riordan’s narration. If Apollo had all of these negative experiences with his father as well as Hephaestus and Ares in Greek canon and Hera in Greek canon (hell, she didn't even want to marry Zeus, she was tricked into it and r*ped), it’d be safe to assume that Hera as his wife and someone closer to that dude, mayhaps suffers even more. (Doesn’t diminish the stuff that Apollo went through, but I don’t like the way his thoughts are presented to Hera in regards of the TOA series).
It’s apparent that people love to hate Hera and I hate to see it.

opinions on riordanverse ; my edition
a lot of people have been doing this so i decided why not right. probably gna lose some followers or smth but anyways. pls respect my opinions! if u disagree, thats fine, but please be polite. unless any of my opinions strikes u as morally wrong then pls point it out to me respectfully. thanks!
- i actually liked drew. im so sorry to everyone who hates her but full offence, why. think about it this way ok, first of all drew became hc because silena died. silena was the traitor, the one who betrayed chb, yet after she died campers celebrated her as a hero? and then drew suddenly has to replace her and live up to idk that legacy she left behind,, when all of a sudden this girl named piper swoops in and takes her place. idk abt u but i wld be salty abt that too. not only that, but as an asian, the chances of drew having faced racism/bullying as a child is pretty high (she studies at brooklyn academy). which means that when she finds out shes a demigod, and arrives at chb where most of the campers are white (this is an assumption btw), she’d obviously be scared of being bullied for her skin color right?? so the first thing she wld do before the campers get to bully her is to bully them before they can do so. (sentence structure here is wack i apologize) ofc this might not even have happened, drew could have had a perfect childhood && was a b1tch for no reason, BUT EVEN THEN HER ROLE AS A BULLY WAS PRETTY VITAL BECAUSE THAT FURTHER SHOWED THE CONTRAST BETWEEN HER AND PIPER,, HIGHLIGHTING PIPER AS A HERO//GOOD CHARACTER,, AND THEREFORE MAKING READERS LIKE PIPER MORE. anyway stop hating on drew please. ALSO WHY IS THIS SO LONGA SDFJHG
- jason isnt bland, the fandom just kinda erased his backstory (thanks to @pjohoo-memes for the phrasing lol)
- reynabeth wouldnt have lasted/would have broken up several times. idk i just see them as two extremely powerful characters who have firm opinions and will definitely clash at some point. in a platonic relationship,, i can see them as really good friends but as lovers? idk i just think theyll break up
- PIPABETH
- i dont really like jercy,, i see them as better friends than lovers. also idt jason and percy were that close..?
- the dam and not my type jokes are srsly cringey and were never funny. ik that seems hypocritical since my username literally makes use of the dam joke but honestly i dont actually like the joke. its not funny to me and has never been funny
- the seven were not best friends. they definitely argued,, and honestly probably werent as close as the fandom makes them seem. like ure dumped with 6 other people, out of which u only know a few. my introverted ass would have jumped off the argo 2 quicker than leo valdez could bomb camp jupiter up. also leo was a dick to frank. so what if frank is bigger sized?? thats not a valid reason to tease him
- the fandom needs to stop hating on octavian while worshipping luke. if u hate luke and u say u hate octavian too, then okay. but if u tell me ure a luke stan but u despise octavian?? imma disagree w u. luke was worse than octavian im sorry. first of all, octavian being a dick was kinda justified. hes been after the praetor position for so long, and everyone keeps saying to “wait for jason” when suddenly this dude, whos a son of NEPTUNE (neptune wasnt liked much by romans), and the camp decides to make him praetor?? dude i would be pissed off big time. and then afterwards, he finds out that greek demigods are real and the dude they made praetor is greek. AND THEN GREEK DEMIGODS COME TO CJ AND ONE OF THEM BOMB IT UP?? octavian has been told all his life that greeks are scum and this dude called leo valdez attacks cj. sure it was an accident, but did octavian know that? no. so it was honestly justified that he was such a salty prick im just saying. also some of yall be hating on octavian for cutting a teddy bear open and thats the funniest shit ive ever heard i swear
- luke didnt go to elysium
- travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were  thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such
- tratie shldve been canon idc idc
- demigods of the demeter cabin arent talked about enough and i love the fact that meg was demeters kid. like she isnt the child of one of the big three yet shes so powerful.
- we need to hype clarisse up more her character arc was phucking amazing
- rachel is overhated. sis found out greek gods exist and regularly come down to earth to fuck around and went “ok cool”. queen shit behavior methinks
- the floor 19 crew of mcga is srsly underrated. like do u even remember halfborn gunderson, mallory keen, tj, etc??? bc i feel like we only remember samirah, magnus, alex, and sometimes blitz and hearthstone
- sadie (tkc) was kinda annoying at first. i like her more now tho but i rmb not liking her for a phat while
- tkc and mcga need more love
- carter kane and jason grace arent boring. theyre just really sweet boys who are too good for this world and yes yes yes
- hazel and frank (especially frank) need to be hyped up more. i hardly ever see anything about them. also yall seem to forget that frank was literally made praetor and that even hecate admired hazel and was willing to fight beside her because of how powerful she was
- frazels age gap is kinda sketch but i still think theyre really cute
- nico definitely had trauma from going to tartarus on his own
- GROVER IS PERCYS BEST FRIEND
- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.
- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.
“ With the feather thing, I looked it up myself; it takes less than five minutes to figure out that Cherokees don't braid feathers into their hair. I didn't grow up in the country where my parents are from. I have many other first/second generation American friends who have also been through that, with a bit of a disconnect from their culture. But something that most of us have in common is that when we didn't know something, and when our parents weren't that big of a help, we looked it up. We sought out resources online and through other people from our culture to be able to connect more with where we came from. Some of that took a Google search. So I find it hard to believe that Piper, a girl who Rick's trying to portray as someone who is attempting to connect with her culture and is totally against racist stereotypes, wouldn't know that eagle feathers aren't supposed to be braided into your hair casually. She may be disconnected from her culture, but she's also shown to want to connect back to it. Piper wouldn't be casually braiding feathers into her hair while also telling off people for being racist. It makes no sense.” - reddit thread (down below)
for those of yall who wanna know more please please read this, it has a lot of things i wanna add in here : https://www.reddit.com/r/camphalfblood/comments/gy3gl2/piper_mcleans_portrayal_is_innacurate/
as well as https://finding-my-culture.tumblr.com/post/189422373260/maxie-ratties-and-cattie-finding-my-culture
i will be posting screenshots of these in future posts so if ure viewing this on ig and u dont have tumblr,, dont worry
- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong.
- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up.  the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic
i have a heck load more that i cant rmb rn but yeah feel free to add more

talk about the big three being overpowered soon bc i like thinking about that and i wanna hear you talk 🙏
so i’m just start babbling and most of these are unfinished thoughts but here we go:
starting with percy 🤔 he’s the main character of 5+ books, and because we’re given a glimpse into his POV in both first and third person, we have a fairly good understanding of all he can do and not do. his growth with his power is excellent to see (which is due to being able to see him so intimately over a time span of years that isn’t given to any of the other characters). that scene where percy doesn’t even realize what he’s doing in tlo? that’s pretty sick. so some basic powers are like:
water manipulation of any kind. this is self explanatory, but with percy, it also extends to healing, controlling poison (assuming there’s water in it)
some sort of heat resistance
navigation powers, like controlling ships and knowing his coordinates granted he’s in the water
talking to animals (related to poseidon, so horse and fish and such)
and most importantly, percy has control over storms and earth. while the connect makes sense in some way, as storms and rain is defeinitely water, and poseidon is still the earth-shaker or whatever, it bleeds too much into the realm of zeus and hades.
it’s strange to see percy demonstrate so many powers as well, considering how nico and hazel had divided the range of hades. it’s established that nico is death but hazel is riches, and sometimes they fall into each other, but for the most part, nico doesn’t pick out gems nor does hazel ever really bring back a skeleton army. percy simply does it all (good for him!) but it’s TOO much, considering he’s still half mortal and only one kid. jason and thalia also present this issue too, where both jason and thalia can control storms and air rather than having the aerial kingdom divided.
however, jason and thalia were also cheated? so nico and hazel definitely explore a more massive range of powers from hades, but jason and thalia do the same thing? which is BIZZARE considering air alone contains so many things, like airwaves, soundwaves, gas control, air purifying/oxidizing, air pressure and like, so much more. i just blame riordan being uncreative, but he DID give jason the ability to see air magic and sense people nearby but this was forgotten about.
thalia additionally has mist control taught by chiron, but this plays into the overpowered part as there's no reason why she should have this? similarly, percy has the aptitude for this? hazel makes sense considering how she is directly connected to hecate, but why thalia and percy?
i hate the adhd → hardwired for battle, but they're exceptionally skilled with their weapons? jason and nico I'll give a pass because they spent years training (for nico, uh, fighting alone). but percy has literally spent less than a year at chb. he goes every summer (kind of) for three years and he's supposed to be an insane swordsmen? there are kids who LIVE in chb and would sword train more than percy ever has? 🤔 nevertheless, in any of the chb schedules published, arena fighting isn't a daily activity, so percy did it maybe 2 or 3 times a week? 🤨 percy was literally some punk ass kid in his intro, but then he can throw a sword around and fight the best? THALIA GOING TOE TO TOE WITH LUKE IN TTC???? despite her being freshly a tree and him training in camp, and teaching for years???? ... hazel I'm not gonna touch, cause even tho she scooped poop all day, spqr was kinda 😳 and she was there for almost as long as percy went to chb
anyway, the kids of the big three have too much emphasis on the 'god' part of 'demigod'. their powers rival too many of the minor gods to where they can go toe to toe? and then their powers are insane, considering their siblings that they meet from mythology (think like, hercules) don't have that range of powers either?
imo, it makes sense to me to just give all the kids (even outside the big three) a certain "aspect" or two of their powers, witch exception to gifts like charmspeak. like, for instance, austin from apollo focusing only on the music vs Kayla's archery.
when it comes to the big three this results in the division like nico as death, hazel as riches which sets that divide but still gives them the space to be as powerful as they can in that realm. for zeus 🤔 maybe thalia electricity/static but jason as air nonsense? both can summon lightning bolts they way both nico and hazel can shadow travel, but jason gets woozy and worn out much more than thalia. for percy, the water thing works, but maybe it's REALLY hard when it's not water in its pure form aka the poison and vapor and snow, and such 🤔 dunno.
alternatively, the zeus and hades kids could just get control of their entire realm the way Percy did, but like 😖 that's just MORE power than any of them needed.
tldr, it's not really that they're overpowered (okay they are) but it's more like favorites were picked, and the powers were uneven. it seems like if ur godly parent actually liked u, then the more gifts u got 😭 but in all seriousness tho, 🤔 when you think about it, it doesn't make sense considering the training levels that they should be at, or the expansiveness of powers they each have compared to the others

Chapter 13: I Plunge to my Death 13/04/21
Feel free to join in with our read along of The Lightning Thief - here's all the info
This chapter title is a bit dramatic Percy. I've read this series AND the Heroes of Olympus and I'm like 73% sure that you do not die in this chapter
Actually, I know I had a rant about Amtrak in the last chapter but I WILL say that I would much rather spend 2 days on an Amtrak train than a British train
Again, for my fellow Europeans- American trains are very weird
They treat trains like a weird train/plane hybrid?? Like you have to get there 30 minutes early and check in your luggage which then gets stored under the train?? Very weird
Plus the platforms aren't raised which I found terrifying. Turns out trains are pretty big
But yes, in Amtrak's defence they do have nice big seats and you never have to stand up so that's a perk
Sorry I have no idea when or why this series turned into me reviewing various modes of American transport
I love Annabeth and I know she's only 12 but honestly she kinda scares me sometimes
Also I know Rick Riordan has said he's done with the 5 book series for now but Rick, would you please consider doing a stand alone about Annabeth's journey to camp?
OR I would love a historical series!! I know that's very out of Rick Riordan's usual style but seriously a WW2 demigod adventure would be right up my street
Although having said that isn’t the plan supposed to be a series on Irish mythology? In which case YES PLEASE I’ve been meaning to buy a book on Irish mythology! Been trying to brush up on my Irish history and ~connect with my roots~
That sounds so obnoxious I’m sorry. I’m not Irish but my grandma was from Armagh so I would like to learn more about Ireland’s history and culture
God Annabeth's story is so sad, especially in this book. Like she's so set on making her mum proud and following exactly in her footsteps, she can't even consider the idea that maybe she could befriend a son of Poseidon when her mum would be so against it
And like yeah, from Percy's perspective it's very irritating but Annabeth is so clearly trying to grasp onto any scrap of love or approval she might get from her mum because she's felt so rejected by her dad her entire life that she ran away from home when she was 7 eurgh its just very sad
Excuse me they have a THREE HOUR LAYOVER??? Nope I'm back to trash talking Amtrak sorry
Can you imagine getting a train in Europe and the train just parked at the station and you all had to wait there for three hours?? They're not getting a connection or anything, there's no other trains coming through, they've just gotta wait there for three hours
Okay confession time I didn't realise that when American's said 'Seeing Eye Dog' they meant a guide dog until I was about 20
I blame friends.
There's that one episode (I think Rachel is giving birth) and Phoebe says something about 'would you rather eat a seeing eye dog or a talking gorilla?' so idk I thought it was some weird made up thing where I just didn't get the joke or I'd misheard it haha
Hello yes I'm a simp for Annabeth talking about architecture (Percy agrees)
Chimeras really are the weirdest fucking mythological creatures like who came up with that???
We're raising money for Save the Children so please head to our justgiving page if you would like to donate- any contribution is appreciated including spreading the word

💢 and 💓?
aplecherry i love you i can always count for you when doing this stupid games
also this is so much longer that i had planned so,,, take a seat
Ship that is most misunderstood
this is stupidly controversial but like,,, caleo
so like, i get if you don't like the mischaracterization of calypso in hoo, she is, indeed, really different from the calypso we see in botl. also, i haven't read toa, but i've seen that rr made them fight a lot and are just straight up a toxic couple. i won't blame you if you don't like them. i honestly have the most love/hate relationship with riordan's books than any media i have ever consumed. i get it.
but like,,, the three chapters of leo in ogigya took my breath away. all of house of hades, honestly, took my breath away. if you're going to read the riordanverse, do it for that book and the last olympian. i was unable to stop reading, they're incredible.
leo's story is a really tragic for me, wich is ironic, since he is a character we often asossiate with his sense of humor. his first years of life are probably the only happy ones he got to live, together with his mother, talking morse code and making inventions, till Hera appeared in his life as a baby sitter, and started to "train" him to archieve his best potential. she literally put him in a chimeny, on fire, it wasn't going to hurt him, but he was a child, he didn't know about his fire powers. i can't even begin to imagine what type of mark that type of experience must have left.
then? you know what happens? his mothers dies in a fire, and his entire family refuses to take care of him because "he's a devil". he thinks, as a child, that his fire powers killed his mother. that HE killed his mother. he's sent to different orphanages but always runs away at month 4 or 5. in the last hero he says that he lived in sewers for MONTHS. he doesn't let himself have a family. he stops using his powers. god forvids they get too close and sets themselfs on fire.
as for calypso, she is the daughter of a titan, and is hunted for a mistake she did what it feels like years ago, but it's probably centuries. time is difficult to understand when you're in ogigya, her home and prision. the gods have cursed her for helping her father in the first titans war, and is fated to fall in love with the heroes who are shipwrecked on her island. she cleans them, she takes care of them, she loves them, and they always, always leave the island for someone else, leaving her behind with nothing but resentment.
so, you have two people, who have spent their whole lives being abandoned, filled with guilt and resentment, thiking that all their relationships will end in agony...
and there was only one island.
they both see the worst in the other at first, so it feels even more satisfying when they fall in love. i love that is so simple at first, she sents him food, he fixes her fountain. but they don't care about each other. calypso is done with the gods sending her boys, and this one seems like a joke. and leo actually has a prophecy in the run so he can't stand with this type of bullshit.
but then, they do care, and it's so sweet, because they finally feel seen. calypso doesn't think he's stupid. he's cool. she likes when he teaches her about machines. and leo does have a place to get back to, but the boys that came to ogigya had never paid as much attention to her as leo does. calypso cares. leo cares. they both care.
and when he's about to go back he cannot take all of this months out of his mind. and then she kisses him and pushes him to the boat, so he's definitly not going to forget her now. and that scene? with him promising to himself that he's going to find her again? because he finally found a place he wants to go back to???? I'M IN TEARS
this is so messy but, caleo is good, fuck you.
Ship that you didn’t expect to ship but now do
Honestly??? adrigami. i think this would also count as the misunderstood one, bc people kinda hate in this ship for no reason (SPECIALLY on tiktok, and not just adrigami, but the whole of kagami's character is often given a lot of shit).
when we first got the side love interests, i honestly didn't get much their place in the story and felt more like an excuse to cause love drama™ that in that moment i wasn't really interested on. but after rewatching season 2 and 3, my feelings towards them changed a lot.
for me, kagami and adrien are really similar, they both share the same type of family situation and can both relate as what it comes to living in high expectations and not being really good in social situations. i think that's really cute! they both support and validate each others in their struggles bc they both understand what is it like.
also i think its really well conceptualized. kagami comes into adrien's life just at the same time ladybug rejects him. she's also the opposite of marinette when it comes to achieving a goal. marinette tends to overthink the situation and procrastinates over it, while kagami it's really straight foward. "hey, i like you, i think you're spending too much time in a girl and you're not gettin anything in return, maybe you should change targets, let's date", and if you put in the ecuation how discouraged adrien feels... yeah, why not? (i would also talk for hours in adrien/luka parallels but that's a whole other story)
one of my favorite moments are in glaciator, where adrien is really nervous about the whole date, and they have this interchange:
adrien: *stands in front of her, trying to imitate luka about asking kagami to skate*
kagami: it's okay, i'm not going to tell anyone
adrien: what?
kagami: i'm not going to tell anyone that you don't know how to tie your shoes
adrien: *looks at his untied skates*
adrien: *blushes* ..,o-oh,,
i just love the confident!kagami and flustered!adrien, ok? the boy isn't used to that type of stuff
so yeah, i think they're a great ship, from the rocky and messy relationship in cannon to their potential in fannon, and i was an idiot for thinkin it was not

more thoughts about the lightning thief musical because I have the soundtrack on repeat and I can’t stop thinking about it
“yes the gods are real, and they have kids, and those kids have issues” well yeah that’s it that’s the whole series I’m glad we established this in the first 45 seconds of the show
Percy’s entrance is the greatest, most in-character thing I’ve ever seen he just slides across the stage and looks to the audience in his “paint me like one of your french girls” lounge pose and recites those ICONIC first lines of the book and it’s just fabulous
that moment in the opening number when riptide turns into a sword for the first time is just SO COOL because there’s strobe lights and so much is going on and you can’t really see how the effect happens all of a sudden Percy just starts swinging and it’s so satisfying
“This ain’t Odysseus’s Odyssey” that’s a really tough tongue twister but also just a really good line
I love all the moments where Percy’s voice gets all quiet and gentle like in Strong when he’s asking all the questions about his dad the delivery of those lines adds so much to his character; sure, the whole show is written in the Rock genre and his big outbursts accompanied with loud guitar show his frustration and anger at the world but those times where everything is solemn and all you hear is the acoustic guitar and the sound of ocean waves crashing in the distance really keep him rounded out and I just love it a lot
“Normal is a myth” LIKE THE GREEK MYTHS GET IT
“Is she real?/I must be dreaming/She's floating close to me like an angel....This is weird/But a good weird” wow Percy so eloquent you wanna quote that in your wedding vows?
Chiron’s elegant prancing when he first gets up out of his wheelchair while Percy is just screaming in confusion is by far the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life
Clarisse’s vocals in Put You In Your Place are insane it feels so 80s and she’s violently swinging a spear the whole time and you don’t know whether to be attracted to her or terrified so you’re just both simultaneously
Percy just comes strolling across the stage on a toilet on wheels I love professional theatre
I could write an essay on Good Kid but all I’ll say now is the line “I keep my head down, I keep my chin up, but it ends all the same/With ‘Pack your bags, Percy, you’re always to blame” just hurts my heart a lot, more than anything else in the song
and during Good Kid Percy is climbing all over the scaffolding like he’s in a DCOM and when he gets to the bridge and it slows down he just sits on the railing high up off the ground and is withdrawn and quiet and wow
Grover ‘baaaa’-ing throughout the whole show makes me really happy
all of Lost has been stuck in my head for days and it condenses 50% of TLT’s plot into a single song that’s basically just like “yadda yadda yeah they took a week to travel and the goofed up a lot we don’t have time for this” and it’s done so well because they still manage to mention every significant stop in the story
(except the scene in the waterpark and “You’re my friend, seaweed brain, any more stupid questions?” but I can forgive that)
“We’re lost and it’s dark and I thINK THAT SOMETHING’S MOVING” god you forget that they’re supposed to be children and then lines like this happen
Can we just talk about the Percabeth parallel in their lyrics “All I need is one last chance to prove I’m good enough for someone” vs. “And someday soon, I swear, I don't know how or when/But I promise you I'll never be invisible again; someone will notice me” their first someones end up being each other (and also Grover #1 MVP third wheel for life we love a supportive satyr) before the rest of the world recognizes them your OTP would never
Drive ends up becoming Grover’s recurring theme in the show and you almost forget how much he’s been through until he reprises it in the finale
“I never dreamed that I could do this/Never felt like I was worth a damn” YEAH LETS TAKE A MOMENT FROM THIS SILLY ROAD TRIP SONG TO REMIND EVERYONE ABOUT PERCY’S INNER TURMOIL REAL QUICK ouch
All of The Tree on the Hill is my favorite scene and I’m super biased but I don’t care
“And maybe if I'd been a little bit braver/Maybe if I stayed behind to fight/But ‘maybe’ doesn't let me go back and save her/’Maybe’ doesn't make it alright” and then “There’s a tree on the hill, up on half-blood hill/That protects us all, and always will/And it’s there reminding me of all I failed to be” WOW I MISS WHEN GROVER WAS A COMPLEX AND RELEVANT CHARACTER @rick riordan can we have that back please?
Annabeth and Luke hugging each other and crying as Thalia makes her sacrifice hurt my heart a lot especially when you remember he’s about 14 and she’s supposed to be SEVEN they are babies my god
D.O.A. starts with Charon saying “sorry, I couldn’t hear you over that SWEET ASS RIFF” and she’s a sassy lady in a sparkly silver dress with big hair jamming to disco and it’s the biggest mood ever and the levity we all needed after the heartbreak
Percy and Sally’s harmony on “what belongs to the sea can always return” is just so pretty and there’s that return of the soft acoustics that I love so much in Strong ugh
When Percy and Poseidon would say “It’s a seashell” they’d say it like California surfer dudes and do the little surfs up motion with their hands and I laughed way too hard especially in the middle of Son of Poseidon where it’s supposed to kinda be serious
Luke sings “it’s time someone put them [the gods] in their place” and he doesn’t riff all over the place like Clarisse but DAMN this whole scene is just so ominous it gives you the exact same vibes as when you first read it and realized what was happening except it’s worse because he just STABS PERCY in the end
(and I totally don’t mean to undermine Luke’s Good Kid reprise because it’s fantastic but the chanting of “summer, summer, summer” in the background just makes me think of high school musical)
“Are we ever gonna once have it easy?” “Nope!” again just sum up the entire series in two lines good job

Continuation of discussion on Olympian Pain Ch.4
flightfoot
Yeah, I noticed that you actually said Tartarus after I wrote that.  …Honestly I think that Zeus being tossed to earth and having to take Apollo’s place on his quest would probably be a better punishment, but in his case, he’d probably be left there until he dies. I really like the idea of Zeus having his own redemption arc where he has to live out three mortal lifespans as a demigod with no memory of who he really is, and achieve Elysium each time. I’d like that even if Apollo doesn’t die or get dissolved, actually.
I’ve had this little imagining in my head for awhile where Apollo dies fighting Python while protecting Meg, and his godly essence nearly sputters out, but Meg manages to get ahold of it unknowingly as he’s dying (kinda like how gods can possess godlings in the Kane Chronicles). Zeus transports Meg up to Olympus, blames her for Apollo’s death (because someone has to take the blame, and you know it won’t be Zeus), and she just TEARS him a new one… and then he incinerates her. The other demigods who were present at the battle and were also called to Olympus immediately start attacking Zeus, and their godly parents help. Meg manages to bring herself back as the god redemption and rebirth (she’s got dryads in California who seem to worship her, that might be enough to obtain godhood. Plus she has Apollo’s essence still with her, and there’s no WAY she’d let him be disintegrated completely) and is able to bring Apollo back with her. He’d probably be a baby though, since those reincarnated dryads still started out as saplings. Plus his essence was almost completely gone, it would take a while to recover from that. She dishes out her punishment: Zeus would be reborn three times on earth as a demigod, with no knowledge of who he is and only with the powers a demigod of his parentage would be expected to have. Meg would be the only one who would know when and who he’d been reborn as, to keep things fair. Upon his third death, the council would reconvene and decide whether to give him his powers back.
In this little idea I had, Apollo would become Camp director for Camp Half-blood once he had recovered, so he’d know Zeus well in each of his lives… especially his last one, where he’d be reborn as Apollo’s son. Apollo would bond with Zeus closely, like he would with his other children, and would confess that Meg had told him that Zeus was on his last lifetime. He’d talk about how nervous he was about facing his father again, how he used to punish Apollo brutally and blame it on his lightning bolt, of how Zeus reminded him of both Nero and Caligula, and how furious and scared he was when he learned that Zeus had vaporized Meg. Zeus (in mortal form with amnesia of his true identity) would be furious at Zeus for inflicting such pain on Apollo, and shout about how he would fight against Zeus if he tried to hurt Apollo, even if it meant his own death - which Apollo isn’t happy about, but Zeus is stubborn regardless of form. Then he dies and remembers that HE’S the one who committed all those wrongs.

If it helps I’ve thought it a ridiculous amount of times about Apollo succeeding Zeus as king.
I have a story both on tumblr, DeviantArt and A03 about what could happen the final chapter of if the final book in the TOA series and in it, a new prophecy is uttered that basically says that Zeus is going to be kicked off the throne. I wrote an essay on why I think Apollo would succeed Zeus as king. (It’s not that good. I published it but it’s not that good.)
I think there’s a story (not finished) on this sight, About Zeus becoming human except he doesn’t have amnesia.
“I’ve had this little imagining in my head for awhile where Apollo dies fighting Python while protecting Meg, “ Yeah cause actually blaming Python or the Triumvirate would actually make sense yeah? LOL Zeus never makes much sense.
Huh, actually that would be interesting. Would Apollo age quickly too? Like he first did when he was first born?
Meg getting incinerated given her mouth actually makes sense. (Though Zeus has never incinerated Percy…. then again I don’t think Percy ever mouthed off to him in such close proximity. I don’t know about the worship of dryads would give her immortality, I always thought it was the worship of humans that determined immortality in riordanverse… ehh it could probably still work.
Three times? Why? Cause Zeus is just worse then Apollo? I wonder how meg would know though. She has power over plants not the dead… or maybe Hades tells her?
ooh that would be awkward his father reborn as his son? Yeesh.
That would probably grant him a healthy dose of guilt wouldn’t it? Yeesh.

Apollo succeeding Zeus as king WOULD be an appropriately climatic end to his character arc, though I think we’d have to have a second book series to get him to the point where that would make sense. It would be kinda tricky to pull off convincingly - I doubt a lot of the other Olympians would just agree to go along with Apollo being the ruler without a good reason, plus it wouldn’t feel right if him becoming king came across as just being a reward for getting to the end of his trials - but it would be much better for the PJO universe as a whole. Zeus is a REALLY sucky ruler.
Oh, I’ve read both your story, and that “Zeus turns mortal” story. I like the general idea of yours, but the prophecy needs to be WAY less obvious. It basically just sounds like Apollo will become king because destiny says so, and because he becomes strong enough to dethrone him. But part of Apollo’s character arc is about learning what it’s like to be weak, and needing to rely on others, and make friends. I want him to become king kinda the same way Percy became the leader in The Last Olympian - because everyone respects him and most people like him, not simply because he’s stronger than everyone else.
I do really like the rest of your fic, though. Apollo just kinda folding Nico into his brood of children will never stop being adorable and heartwarming! Plus him continuing to comfort Meg was great, really showed that he was still the same person, even after having his godhood restored.
As for that “Zeus turns mortal” fic (It’s on wattpad, btw)... I like the concept, but not the execution. It came off as very mean-spirited to me.  Even when I agreed with the Olympians that Zeus deserved the punishment, the way they talked about it made me dislike them, ESPECIALLY Apollo. Plus the author put in a bunch of swear words in ways that were just awkward and uncomfortable.
Zeus managed to blame Apollo for the Giant War, when his only real contribution to it was not discouraging Octavian. Zeus insisting on keeping Gods and demigods apart was far more harmful, but he never owned up to his own mistakes and deflected almost all of it onto Apollo, even blaming him for things that weren’t remotely his fault, like saying that him allowing the Prophecy of Seven to be spoken by Rachel helped to trigger it, even though the Romans had had that Prophecy for millennia. With Apollo’s death, he’d be ESPECIALLY eager to deflect blame away from himself, since HE would be responsible for Apollo being put in that position, and not receiving any help. If he didn’t just blame Gaea and the Giants for the Giant war, then I doubt that blaming the Triumvirate and Python for Apollo’s death would be sufficient.
I figure he’d age at an accelerated rate, but not as fast as he did when he was first born. Apollo and Artemis both gestated quite a bit longer than they should have because of Hera, so they were more developed when they were born than most gods are. Plus Apollo would need to recover from almost having his essence snuffed out. I figure he’d age at the rate of maybe a week per year, until he reached maturity around 16~17, so at about 16 weeks. And in the meantime he could visit his various friends while he’s still growing up. I REALLY want a little 5-year-old Apollo to stay a night at the Waystation while there’s a furious thunderstorm going on outside, and for him to be unable to hide how scared he is of it (since his physical form does somewhat impact his mind), and for the residents of the Waystation to comfort him, and be horrified about how Zeus used to hurt him. I want Calypso to sing him a lullaby, Jo and Emmie to tell him what Zeus did was wrong, and for little Georgina to offer him a stuffed animal and some advice for what her moms used to tell her when she got scared of thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Lityerses is just kinda hiding because he figures that mentally, emotionally, and physically, Apollo is five right now, and would be scared of him. But Apollo has none of it, seeks him out quickly, says he trusts him and he’s happy to see him again, and snuggles up in Lit’s lap for a nap. And Lit just sits there with tears in his eyes, stroking Apollo’s hair while he sleeps, not seeming to believe that this little kid who he once tried to behead, now trusts him and loves him so much. He still can’t believe that ANYONE loves and trusts him, much less someone he used to enthusiastically talk about murdering.
Oh, and back at Camp Half-blood, the whole camp would basically adopt Apollo, and Harley would decide that he’s his little brother. And he’d still insist on that fact even when Apollo became an adult again.
Eh, Riordan has been making it fairly easy to become a god lately, if simply instituting mandatory worship is enough, even in cases where the whole nation hates them and doesn’t respect them, like with Commodus. And he never says that humans have to be the ones worshipping, so I’m going with it for now.
Poseidon’s also generally considered more powerful than Demeter, and would DEFINITELY be REALLY pissed if Zeus harmed Percy. We don’t really know Demeter’s feelings on Meg, on the other hand. I mean, she’s never bothered to communicate with Meg. She claimed her so she definitely knows Meg exists now, but she still hasn’t visited her, even in a dream. Plus, yeah, I think Meg would mouth off more in close proximity to Zeus, and his temper would already be running high with stress from Apollo dying, and a desire to deflect blame to save his own skin, so he’d be raring to punish Meg anyway.
Partly because he’s worse and has been so terrible for so long. I don’t think he actually learned anything from when Apollo, Poseidon, Athena, and Hera tied him up to try and tell him to be a better king. But there’s another reason too. Managing to achieve Elysium three times in a row and achieve entrance to the Isles of the Blest is considered like winning the Good Person Lottery. If Zeus managed to fulfill those same requirements, It would be a good sign that he really HAS changed, and won’t simply revert, like how he reneged on his promise to be faithful to Hera.
My thought is that Meg would become a full goddess, with actual powers and a Sphere of Influence. She’d be dead and would feel that Apollo’s essence was with her, but was slipping away, and if she went to the afterlife like she was supposed to, he’d be gone for good. So she holds onto his essence and desperately tries to avoid going to the Underworld, and then notices that there are some thin little cords connecting her to the mortal world, connected to the dryads that worship her. She follows them back, hard though it is. Those cords will let her return, but not Apollo - and that’s unacceptable. But she refuses to give up. She’s not quite sure what all of this is, what all is going on, but she feels like she can do SOMETHING. Apollo’s essence is like a seed, she thinks. He needs a casing to protect him. She feels around for something to keep him safe and comfortable, and senses something. Her dress. A present from a mother, a kind stranger, who only wanted to help make her comfortable. A present that had gotten ruined many times, but that she still insisted on getting repaired, because of what it meant to her. The dress may not be physically here - it was incinerated along with her body - but the feelings embodied by the dress, the essence of it, remains. She “tears” off a portion of the dress, and wraps Apollo’s essence in it. This time, the cords acquiesce.
Meg materializes in the throne room on Olympus, right where she was incinerated. A chia plant and a yellow daisy spring up at her feet. She’s holding a small green bundle tight against her chest. The throne room had clearly just been through a massive battle. Thrones were damaged, there were scorch marks everywhere, and the gods and demigods she could see all looked tired. Zeus was tied up in a celestial bronze net on the floor. Everyone just GAPED at her, not believing their own eyes. She’s still not entirely sure what happened, but at least Apollo’s safe. She unwraps his head and turns him towards the others, so everyone can see him. Artemis knows who it is immediately - how could she not recognize her baby brother? She delivered him, for Gods’ sake! She rushes over to them and breaks down sobbing as Meg gently transfers the baby Apollo into her arms, just glad that he’s back in SOME form, even if she’s not sure whether he retained his memories. At least he’s HERE, and SAFE. The tension breaks, and all the demigods plus most of the Olympians rush over to Apollo, Artemis, and Meg. Hades, Poseidon, and Hera remain with Zeus. Hades and Poseidon to make sure that Zeus stays trapped, and Hera because she really doesn’t care for Apollo.
After reassuring herself that Apollo is safe and protected, Meg approaches Zeus. She senses that she can cause Zeus to be reborn, kinda like how she just seemed to know how to summon a satyr. As the one who was just now wronged by Zeus, she floats the idea that Zeus should be sent to Earth, to be reborn, without his memories. If Apollo could learn so much from his stay on Earth, perhaps Zeus could as well, and finally become a better person. Hades suggests (with no small amount of glee) that Zeus should be reborn three times as a mortal, and have to achieve Elysium each time. If he can prove worthy of the Isle of Blest, then he may prove worthy to be a god again. If he fails... well, the council can decide on his fate if it comes to that. Meg agrees, with the stipulation that only she would know who Zeus was in each lifetime. She didn’t want the other gods to interfere, and potentially sabotage him. She also stipulates that Zeus will be unable to be granted immortality while  Zeus curses and shouts at them, but to no avail. Meg sends him to be reborn.
Time passes. Apollo grows up again and becomes Camp Director. Meg hangs around Camp Half-blood most of the time. Even if she’s a goddess now, she still behaves like Meg. Zeus is reborn. First time he’s born as the son of a minor Greek goddess. Apollo spots him from the sun chariot, and escorts him safely to camp. He’s weirdly bristly with Apollo at first, and even he’s not sure why. He warms up eventually though. When he hears about Luke, he considers him a hero for making sure the minor gods got recognized. He’s quite cocky, but he still dies a heroic death, and is granted Elysium. As soon as the judges give their decision, he vanishes, immediately reborn. This time he’s reborn as a legacy of Jupiter in New Rome. He has few powers, but he’s still a valuable member of the legion. He grows up hearing of the brave son of Jupiter who led the charge on Mount Orthys, a member of the Seven who took down Gaea, and who died protecting his comrades. He wishes he could meet Jason or Jupiter, get to know those members of his extended family, but Jupiter’s been sentenced to some punishment which most of the campers don’t know the details of. He eventually meets Thalia and asks her to tell him about her father and brother. After hearing from Thalia’s perspective, he wishes he could meet Jason more than ever, but he’s kinda glad that Jupiter has been sentenced to live out three mortal lives. Any asshole who would murder an innocent twelve-year-old just to try and deflect blame deserves a long punishment. If anything, he thinks it’s too lenient.
In this second life, Zeus dies defending his comrades, and once judged, is immediately reborn for the last time - this time, as Apollo’s son. While he’s raised by his mother, he often gets visits from kind men. He knows they’re secretly the same man, since they all have the same smile, even though they look different. He goes along with it, though, and pretends that the disguises fool him. He’s a little kid, cheering him up when some kids pick on him at school. He’s a street musician, who first coaxes Zeus into singing in public. He’s even a teacher’s aid once, who sits with Zeus and helps teach him how to read, even though his dyslexia makes that difficult.
Then one day, when he’s about ten, Zeus sees his first monster. He panics and runs and prays that someone will help him. A moment later, an arrow is sticking out of the beast. It crumples to the ground and vanishes. Zeus looks at the man who shot the beast and recognizes him as the same man he’s encountered throughout the years. The man introduces himself as Apollo, explains that if he had stayed with Zeus and let him know who he was earlier, then monsters would have been able to find Zeus earlier as well. It was a moot point now, though, so Apollo drove Zeus to camp in the Sun Chariot.
Zeus is swarmed by his half-siblings upon entering camp. Apollo had told them that he was gonna have to retrieve him soon, and they’d been looking forward to meeting him. Apollo didn’t have children nearly as often as he used to, but he made sure to pay attention to each and every child, and they were all excited to welcome someone else to the family.
Zeus gets to experience a happy family life, staying with his mother most of the year, but spending summers at Camp Half-Blood. He bonds with Apollo quite closely over the years. At one point, when he’s around fourteen, he sees his father looking worried and scared, and coaxes him into opening up. Apollo confesses that Meg told him that his own father, Zeus, was on his third life, and may die and have his divinity restored in the next few years. Apollo doesn’t really know how to deal with that. Zeus will have proven himself a good mortal, achieving Elysium three times in a row, but this was still the man who liked to electrocute Apollo, who tried to murder Meg and even sorta succeeded. He wasn’t sure he was ready to face him. Mortal!Zeus got pissed at Zeus, and silently promised himself that until Apollo could talk about Zeus with no fear on his face, that he wouldn’t forgive Zeus.
Mortal!Zeus dies about a year later. Apollo’s devastated. He escorts his son down to the Underworld, and watches as he’s judged. As soon as they declare him worthy of Elysium, sparkles surround Mortal!Zeus, and he transforms back to his regular divine state, receiving all the memories that had been taken from him. Both Apollo and Zeus are shocked. Zeus remembers everything he’s done to Apollo, and done to other gods and mortals over time, and teleports away to sort out the immense guilt he feels. Apollo stumbles around, trying to figure out WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED.
They later reconcile, Zeus apologizing for everything he’s done, admitting that saying sorry isn’t really enough to make up for his actions over the years, and that he’ll stay away from Apollo, if that’s what he wants. He has to let Apollo know first though, that he was the best Dad he could ever ask for. Apollo tells him not to stay away, and pulls him into a hug, Zeus crying all the while. It’s still super awkward, but they would make it work.
Well that kinda turned into a fanfic there. I think Meg becoming the goddess of rebirth and redemption would make sense, since agriculture is often associated with rebirth. The redemption part is because Meg has seen how people can be redeemed, people like Apollo, Lit, Crest, and even herself. There is no god of redemption currently, so she will become one. It kinda goes along with rebirth, anyway.
