okay so i've been listening to the dorohedoro manga soundtrack for a while now, and my morning has been a little hectic so i decided to just ramble about all the songs and what/who i associate them with, and also which songs from the anime ost they remind me of (since the anime ost is very much inspired from the manga ost)

Man Inside The Mouth from the anime ost is im pretty sure inspired from this song too so it All just makes sense. also the title itself reminds me of risu and the way he is and whatnot (im so shit at explaining good lird) also this is me just being insane but i think the voice of the guy singing KINDA fits risu more (the deeper more monstrous voice sounds like curse in my head too), like i love his actual voice too but when i read the manga i definitely dont imagine him with it i expected something more raspy(?), meanwhile aikawa being the one with the smoother voice (his raspy voice fits too giving that Kaiman and yadda yadda) Dont ever let me talk abt risu drhdr bro i dont stfu

Blaka Smoko - VOODOOM: i love this song so much but kai's stupid fucking face pops up in my head when i listen to it and i DONT KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH IT!!! though yeah uh this is pretty much either his song or the cross eyes in general since the lyrics are "i sell black smoke"..though the deranged laugh really reminds me of him solely. imagine a version of the drhdr manga where black smoke is like weed and they smoke that shit and get high i Think thats rlly funny i dunno what else to say tbh i think me associating the song w kai is preventing me from having too many thoughts about it. However i hope when he like shows up fr (not just in flashbacks) the anime ost makes a remix of this song cuz it genuinely fits (also i just love how this song directly mentions nikaido and kaiman, although a bit nonsensical given the context)

Dorohedoro Zombie Slushi - Candie Hank: im so certain 1000手観音 and another song (i cant remember which one) from the anime ost sampled from this one lmfao. anyway this one just reminds me of zombie ebisu, or ebisu in general. not even like living dead day, literally just zombie ebisu. its probably the vocals tbh, someone in a youtube comment was complaining abt them and another person replied "just imagine ebisu singing it" and i cant get it out of my head now. i can totally see her sing this song, especially knowing shes canonically interested in the manga ost album  (you can see her read the songs of it while checking it out in like episode 4? i think? the one where they follow doll risu around and end up in some cheap clothing store)

Eating food and fighting Wizards - Shitwife: this one makes me very nostalgic, i like how its one of the few songs that isnt just pure nonsensical chaos. like i love those too, infact im bummed out the anime ost doesnt have more chaotic songs given the manga is literally incomprehensible sometimes, but i like how this song kinda shows the more coherent and cheerful side of the story. of course this is just kaiman theme to me, i mean the title and all. i think kaiman would really like this song, he would def listen to it. it also reminds me of that scene where him and nikaido are driving in their motorcycles, it gives the vibe of a drive in the middle of the night to me anyway, not much to say for this one too, i just think its really nice (also the drums go crazy hard)

Enter the Hole - NAH: lovely magic predecessor LOL. perfect for me honestly cuz lovely magic is my fav song from the anime soundtrack. This one just reminds me of hole, i dunno. the brief ethereal part reminds me of the past of the hole though, before the lake of refuse was created (i forgot what they called that shit in the official translation forgive me..lake of refuse sounds cooler either way). thats all tbh

She is a devil - Hanali: devil nikaido theme song what can i say...i literally want this song beat for beat to play at the scene where nikaido grows her devil tail and gets devil high (if they even animate season 2 that far) either that or when theyre selling gyoza at the department store and she goes devil high again and starts beating ass. its so perfect for those scenes also i like to think the distorted singing at the very beginning is like what humans hear when a devil sings, i know it should be more ear bleeding giving the reaction everyone has in canon but whateva!!! also also i like to imagine nikaido was probably hearing something similar while her tail was growing and she was going crazy, i think maybe hearing the singing of devils in your head while slowly turning into one is a cool idea

LIZARD HEAD - Dr. Das: i cant lie this ones...a little boring for me. like the beat is cool and all, but i think this is the one song i have the least to say abt. to reference another youtube comment, they said smth abt imagining kaiman fucking around in hole to this song, and yeah. i see it. i think if the anime animates that little bonus(?) comic abt how kaiman spends his day in hole, they should use smth similar to this song

Transformations - Shackleton: ok i lied this is the one i have to say least about. i dont mind 10+ minute songs, but damn this ones even more boring to me. the pissing sounds arent helping either LOL. though i think if they had to play this song somewhere, or a variation of it, maybe it fits best at the part where kawajiri is making nikaido do the devil exam in his house or whatever...idk....

Dorohedoro - Igorrr: ALRIGHT BACK TO YAPPING. this song is so fucking good, dare i say its my favorite of the whole ost. and im not the only one, everyone seems to love this one. its literally just TIC TOC predecessor but even better. the classical music and opera singing inserted into this absolute chaos is insane and i cant think of a song that fits shin more honestly. like this is literally shin theme. it perfectly mixes his calm and rational self with the deranged outbursts he has. ive heard people say shin is a boring character and i genuinely cant wrap my head around it like HELLO...not only is his design just cool as fuck, but he has such interesting personality? my boy went through absolute hell and grew up from an aggressive and snarky kid to a calm and if i may say, empathetic guy. like he cares about the people around him, he was carrying three guys (one with his fucking mouth mind you) that passed out because of the rain flooding the underground basement. he refuses to kill people who are weak with magic, and generally doesnt really like going on killing sprees unless its a life or death situation (which since kid has made him go crazy, i like to think its probably cuz it increases his heartbeat and being a human+sorcerer maybe doubles the adrenaline this way). also the way he has inhumanely high pain tolerance, he can have his guts splattered on the ground and still manage to walk, to the point it even weirds EN out. like you gotta be some freak to get en concerned for you (or be kikurage lol). sorry this turned into a shin rant more than the song itself, i just cant believe so many people dont see how cool shin is. like hes not even my most favorite character but i will protect all the drhdr characters i like (which is most of them). anyway moving on

ALSO the accordion tune from el corazon is im pretty sure taken from this one! which makes two shin references yippee!!! i like how this one kinda mixes calm music with breakcore (do not erm akshually me on this one i dont care), just like how igorrr does. i dunno its just a cool song, though PERSONALLY i dont think it fits living dead day, it reminds me more of that scene where shin remembers his mothers death, and then slowly turns into a zombie. it gives off that vibe giving how the song progresses from dramatic and a bit somber, while the beat starts creeping in, accompanied by the accordion that i literally will never not associate w shin in general

yes ive heard about that....... im answering your ask late oops haah but i hope the situations a Bit better..... the toxic parts of this fandom give me a headache but my usual motto is to stay off twitter, touch grass, ignore people, and then hold onto my own viewpoints unless proven wrong alsjdflsdj but like. yeah this fandom is a bit tough to stay in when it comes to certain circles (for example the amount of people low quality shitposting / ranting about the fandom or whatever on rezero ao3 atm in the past days/weeks is. mm. interesting). not my first time being in larger fandoms that make you sometimes feel like youre fighting in the trenches (you could name off a few big fandoms notorious for being toxic that date back to like 2016 and odds are ive been in a couple lajdlf) but yeah seeing people complain about liliana and capella's designs and then overly fixate on emilia's boobs when these three characters have more to bring to the table than just that and theres lots and lots of good things to say about the s3 trailer and their designs..... mm. yeah. im squinting hard at a few of the things ive heard on that. but anyway!!

like the new designs are an Improvement. In General. like ok, as a boob haver myself ("boob haver" is the funniest phrase to me alsdjfls but it is true nonetheless, i am one) i do not give a shit about emilias larger boobs like ok?? her boobs are bigger?? she is still my fav ever and sometimes it just happens when youre still a growing teen/young adult and emilias back to her more revealing main outfit when she wore a different outfit in s2 so the difference in chest size is really not that much. but liliana and capella? those are Improved designs. i think ive talked abt the treatment of underage characters / characters who appear underage on my blog before (and i definitely couldve worded myself better then but i stand behind the fact that some of the stuff otsuka and tappei do regarding this in rezero is just Unnecessary).

could designs like emilia's still be improved on in other ways? yeah 100%, just in the sense that there could probably be changed a bit to fit her slightly more timid and soft spoken personality. or you could take different directions on it in general if you wanted. ive seen some great redesigns of her main outfit!! though her main outfit in of itself is pretty nice to look at imo and its iconic and well-known for a reason. im of the personal opinion that i wish it was a little less revealing in the same vein that her s2 main outfit was (i like that outfit a lot!!) but its still a really solid design overall.

i had some faith after seeing the anime designers fix up typhoon's original design to be More Appropriate, and i love how the essence of liliana and capella's designs were kept the same. like its not just that theyre a little less revealing (and even then, theyre both still showing a lot of skin!!! which is good!!! i like the improvement while keeping the main stuff the same), but stuff like liliana's pants aren't transparent (probably to make it easier to animate?) and the yellow/orange gradient in capella's hair looks great!! they also both look more like grown women which is a bonus. unless youre Weird about this shit which is unfortunately a small percentage of the rezero community. like you cant win with those sort of people ig, bc capella's boobs are bigger too ljasdlfj youd think that win more people over.

also i appreciate capella's sports bra bc unlike elsa's outfit it Actually looks like it's supporting her chest. if youre someone with boobs and you dont have a flat chest, youre gonna need support when being active or itll Hurt. and elsa Does Not have proper chest support okay. ill forever wince remembering elsa's design in that sense HAH....

anyway but i digress. i got no clue what to do with toxic people in fandoms despite spending a lot of time lurking in large fandoms with loud toxic people haah.... its hard to do much about it especially with increasingly declining media literacy rates everywhere.... the notorious misogyny/homophobia/etc that can happen sometimes in anime communities.... that sort of thing. i kinda just avoid it when it comes to rezero in specific, or briefly talk about it on here, or rant about it to myself in my head or chat with pals about it in private if it really frustrates me that much!! and id say im a pretty patient person hah... im not frustrated often. and the fandom is not all weird people of course and i can attest to that as ive chatted with a lot of people here... ive also seen a lot of people leave due to the fandom's Issues which is. totally fair tbh.

and i think rezero is often a "baby's first fandom" so to speak... i dont mean that in a bad way of course but its more like its the first exposure to fandom and fandom etiquette and fic etiquette and that sort of thing when it comes to english circles. or at least its a pattern ive noticed, so my theory is that that occasionally that combines with toxic fans and then you get a few people complaining about the community and how bad our fics are on rezero ao3 ig lajdlfjsdlf. which is false by the way :<< and an annoying misuse of ao3 as a free creative archive :<<

but ultimately i hope the rezero character designer's alright (and honestly theyve done super super great work - like the anime Did Not need to give emilia a bajillion outfits and go above and beyond with improving liliana, capella, giving the suwens and their hometown a whole unique aesthetic, etc). and also while i have stuff to criticize with otsuka and tappei... and the toxic parts of the fandom hah... i still enjoy rezero apart from that and the uproar with the designs has not chipped away at me too much!! ive been in this fandom long enough i guess lmao i just roll with punches at this point T^T but i also just try to look on the bright side a lot in general so ;-;;;

I want to share some thoughts with yall after i just finished last violent call. Waiting for foul heart huntsman later in September is torture so i thought to talk now

There’s so many thoughts where do i start uhmm. I’m glad my friend introduced me to this series (hi parker!!! Immensely grateful btw). I haven’t been so captivated by a book/series in awhile so i truly loved this.

I think the small part of my denial part suspected that Roma and Juliette was alive since it was explicitly mentioned in the OVE epilogue that their bodies weren’t found after the explosion. I’m glad we get an addition of the novella’s in the series that serves as an epilogue for Roma and Juliette’s arc. It served their love story justice. Ofc if we knew all along that they’re alive se cld come up with our own conclusion that they’re living their peaceful lives far far away but with the novella’s we cld actually see how they live their domestic life.

And oml i’m so glad Chloe Gong added Benedikt and Marshall’s love story a novella epilogue. Like to finally get a conclusion that all that mutual pining was worth it is very *chef’s kiss*. I wish we get to see their everyday domestic life in their home however. But a murder mystery epilogue is so fun and fitting for them so i’m not complaining all that much. But wldn’t it be cool to see what they’re like at home like how we see Roma and Juliette? Like yeah they were determined to help a couple in need, but we get a glimpse on what they’re like at home. Again, i understand that even if it is an epilogue it can’t be all fluffy since it takes form of a novella and technically speaking it needs to add on to the plot since it’s not yet the actual epilogue of the series.

Ahhh but i loved all the details slipped in the novella’s. Marshall being the main cook is spot on and him hving monthly gossip sesh with Juliette is so fitting i love them. Roma being absolutely in love with his wife and spoiling her with his love till the ends of the earth? Perfection. Juliette still wanting to cause problems despite also being in the lovey-dovey state much like Roma? So in character and very girlboss of her i love it sm.

It took me by surprise ngl when it was mentioned that Benedikt’s a children’s art teacher. But honestly it’s quite fitting. I can see him being very good with kids of different ages and also channeling his passiom for the arts to those kids by teaching them. Imagine one of his students paints a stick figure portrait of Benedikt and the kid showing it to him and Benedikt just has to keep it in himself from tearing up. It looked like a stick man made with chicken scratches and his name spelt wrong, but to Benedikt it was EVERYTHING. Also not to mention Marshall so definitely falling in love with Benedikt all over again any time he sees him playing and having fun with the kids like hsnsganshmsgwnw. Roma and Juliette’s future children will definitely be spoiled by their dear uncles and omg the possibilities are endless. My fav possibility so far is the thought of Marshall and Benedikt teaching their future kids how to ultimately bully Roma and it being the funniest sight ever it sends Juliette rolling on the floor.

But now it brings me to the events of FLF and the potential foul heart huntsman events. Wow did the Orion being controlled by his mother plottwist at the end took me out and basically shattered my heart. Like????? Him and Rosalind had smth going on and now mommy issues came knocking on their front door to ruin it all. Now that i think abt it the mind control plottwist sounds like an allegory for toxic and controlling boy mom relationships uhmm… was what chloe gong was going for?? I mean it was good and i think it truly did the trick ngl. Like it was a whole damn whiplash. Both the concept being a plottwist and a (potential but idk if it was meant to be that so take this one with a grain of salt) allegory.

Also what I truly loved abt FLF how the whole plot is basically abt Rosalind’s guilt. For so long she felt guilty for nearly destroying Shanghai and became an agent just so she can repent from her wrongdoings. And isn’t that nearly identical to Orion?? I mean, he became an agent to make himself useful and to prove a point to his father so it’s not necessarily centered around guilt anyways but like… same vibes? You know? Look it just make sense to me. But anyways and then they found each other and like unravel each other slowly and like gsngsmshsms. So cute. Amazing. Orion Hong is very malewife energy especially when he was losing his shit swinging left and right in that last fight scene in the warehouse.

Also that does leave me to wonder how wld FHH wld play out. I was so hoping for Orion and Oliver to reconcile at the end of FLF ngl bcs yeah i love found family but i LOVE sibling bond tropes. Like for so long I adored Rosalind and Celia’s relationship throughout TVL and OVE. It’s still apparent in FLF so i’m glad and hopefully it’ll keep going till FHH. But pls give me fluffy Hong siblings. And like all of them. All three. Imagiem how funny it’d be when Pheobe and Silas inevitably get together (there’s no denying they’re going to get together eventually. If they aren’t then Chloe Gong has been playing with our feelings this whole time and led us all on) and the big brother instinct in Oliver and Orion will jump at the thought of Pheobe with a boyfriend. Ok well I’m sure it has happened before since FLF have mentioned that Orion has stolen Pheobe’s ex bf to like ‘test his loyalty’ or whatever but to i don’t think he’s ever been into Silas like that. Like ever. Even if he did he already definitely so whipped for Rosalind so he’s not even gonna want to at that point. But I’m sorry the thought of Oliver and Orion cornering Silas and giving him the shovel talk?? That’s amazing. I mean yeah Orion wld do it moreso bcs he finds it funny and only feeling the need to make sure Silas stays in line when it comes to his sister just a tiny bit. But Oliver? He’d be so serious with his threat.

But the main thing we’re all awaiting in FHH is definitely the story of Rosalind getting Orion back. But seeing that he’s basically a superhuman, Rosalind wld so definitely round up the whole gang. But does that gang also include Roma Juliette Benedikt and Marshall?? I’m hoping it wld. And like not just a quick appearance, which is smth i’m sure we’ve all suspected with what’s been told in the novella’s. But i truly wanna see thrm getting involved in the brutal fights and shit. Also i hv to see the Roma and Alisa reunion. I need to hv it bcs my life depends on it!!!!!

I cannot wait for FHH to come out and reveal more tiny details of all these character’s and reveal the last story to truly tie this series up to an end. I’m gonna get super fucking emotional ngl but i’m also excited nonetheless.

Ngl i still hv many thoughts abt this series but I’m not gonna share it now bcs my brain is spinning like 63826 miles an hour just by thinking abt it so this is as much as I can put it into words. Wld love to hear anyone else’s thoughts on this. My ask box is always open:)

hot take: seasons 1-3 are NOT the best seasons of family guy

ok so like the people who say seasons 1-3 of family guy are the only good seasons are total liars and they’re trying to hard to be edgy and contrarian bc those were like the lowest rated seasons which was why it got cancelled after them FJSJSJSK. i think they also just have nostalgia for those seasons if they grew up in 1999-2002 and watched the reruns on adult swim. i don’t think family guy got RLLY good until season 4 when it was brought back from the dead. imo seasons 4-9 are like the best seasons of the show, that was the golden era from 2005-2010 (even tho there was a little evidence of it slipping around s8 & s9 but they were still solid ass seasons). there’s even some episodes from seasons 10 & 11 i’d rather watch than seasons 1-3 if we’re being honest. ESPECIALLY “back to the pilot” and the reason why that episode is so funny is bc of the way it pokes fun at the flaws in s1 yet ya’ll ignore that FHSSHSJSJ. but yeah the main issue with seasons 1-3 was how underdeveloped the show was and it hadn’t rlly found its voice yet imo. another problem i have with those seasons is they feel way too similar to the simpsons. the humor and gags are def way more lighthearted and family friendly, but yeah that aint the family guy we know bc the show does way better as an edgy offensive comedy like south park lol. i think that’s why a lot of people like seasons 1-3 more bc the show had a little bit more of a serious tone back then before it just turned into a bunch of offensive stupidity, but idc i like the offensive stupidity in family guy FHDJSJKS. also umm ya’ll realize seasons 1-3 BARELY used the brian & stewie dynamic, yet ya’ll say brian & stewie are the best part of the show even tho all the B&S episodes came later so MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. but yeah seasons 1-3 def do deserve credit for being a bit more serious and mild and having more of a good heart to them (which is DEF something i appreciate abt those seasons) i’m not saying those seasons are bad, they’re just different and i love them for different reasons, but they AINT where the show shined best. s2 is prob my fav season from that era i mean “road to rhode island”, “da boom” and “peter peter caviar eater” are masterpieces. i also feel like the humor in seasons 1-3 was more quick and subtle too, wheras the gags started becoming way more long and elaborate as the show went on (for better or worse) so yeah i appreciate that abt 1-3 bc some of the jokes actually hit harder and are funnier bc of this. like that gag comes to mind where peter is pretending to call lois from the office but he’s rlly in the kitchen and lois is like “peter i can see you” LOL and then he moves so she can’t see him and is like “ok NOW i’m at the office” like some of those jokes were so pure and simple and didn’t need an elaborate ass set up or pop culture reference. but yeah i’m honestly sick of people acting like family guy went downhill way before it actually did or acting like the show only has 3 good seasons bc that’s BULLSHIT. the truth is family guy has had like 11 good seasons which is A LOT and impressive af imo it was able to go strong for that long. (yes s10 & 11 are a bit mid but still watchable imo, i even like s12 too even tho everyone complains abt that season for killing off brian FJDJDJSJ, but it had plenty of decent episodes like “into harmony’s way” and “grimm job”). it wasn’t until like s13 when i started complaining and found the show unbearable to watch DHSJSJKS. but yeah even after s13 there’s been some good episodes here and there even tho i don’t watch family guy regularly and keep up with all the episodes like i used to. s16 and s20 are DEF the strongest of the modern seasons and had a handful of decent episodes. if there’s a new episode i usually only watch it one time wheras the old episodes i re-watched until i could recite every line LOL. i’d still rather watch modern family guy over A LOT of shows and cartoons, it’s one of the only shows left on tv that still makes legitimate comedy without caring abt being offensive even if it’s not as laugh out loud funny as it was.
