if he said that, that means hobie sees miles as a mini-him (probably the rule breaker/I make my own story side of things if that makes sense) and that’s the cutest goddamn thing I’ve seen all my life

One of the things Disco Elysium does so incredibly well is really put you in Harry's shoes (as uncomfortable and stylish as they are).

I mean it's baked into the very fabric of the game. I don't usually think of video game dialogue as prose, but it absolutely is here and it's done wonderfully. Every line of description is so incredibly well-written and vivid. Every moment where your own mind is talking to you pulls you deeper into this character. This character that doesn't even have a name, that forces you to fill yourself in those many blanks.

I recently wrapped up my first conversation with Evrart Claire, a man who starts strong my addressing us, the player, as Mr. Du Bois. It's a shocking reveal of information and throws the entire rest of the conversation off (especially if you're me and failing checks) because it puts you in such a vulnerable situation. And I felt that! I knew those folding chairs, could practically feel the metal frame digging into my back. I could feel that discomfort of being so incredibly out of my depth. And pretty much the moment I could, I got the fuck out of there, and, like Harry, took a breather.

And kind of wanted to crack into my bottle of Commodore Red.

having insomniac spider-man in sm:ats is so cool actually bc this is...this is literally his arc. this was his choice. he could save the city or his aunt and he picked the city.

it really is the choice every spider-man has to make, and what makes the movie so good is that I'm STILL on Miles's side

they drew on our experience of Spider-Man, the bits that tugged at our heartstrings and made us look at him and see a hero making tough choices....then made us see Miles as a hero for choosing not to choose.

ooo do you have any songs that you feel represent certain characters of the TCWG cast? i remember you saying that the universe as a whole has a very "in love with a ghost" lofi/chillhop vibe but did you have any 'themes' in mind for the individual characters? :0

honestly not really!!!!! i always listen to music and think about little scenarios but i never had any songs where i listened to the lyrics and went "yeah this is exactly mochi word for word" or anything !!! sometimes i hear a certain set of lyrics from a song thats like "WOW THATS LIME!!" or something but then the rest of the song im like "eh not really the rest of it though"

the closest ive gotten is with this post with the linked songs for both of them because it reminded me of them a bit (though i know the mochi one is actually based on yue from atla)

its always more likely that i associate the guild members with certain genres of songs!!! like recently ive been associating oldies music with oscar, i think madam springs would play that kind of music a lot in her shop and it rubs off on oscar to the point he starts playing it on the radio/speaker at home too!! and coco generally likes dance music. shes the one you see dancing around the house by herself, booty-bumping mochi trying to get her to join in hehe

also actually the one song i associate with the merchant is this song because i hear it a lot on the radio at home, and it seems like the kind of song he'd be singing while NPCing around!!! like you'd just hear faint traces of him singing this while wandering through the forest, and follow the sound until you find him (very kass-like from botw!!)
