Y'all remember this post I made talking about how kimono carries visual and cultural language within it and how you can express so so much just by picking the type, the cut, and the patterns? I actually want to extrapolate on this and show how we can actually see that language used during the TWST New Year's event! (Sources will be directly linked as information is introduced.)
For some initial context, while the "plot" of the event is mainly just Sam's New Year Sale, a lot of the visual language, accessories, and cultural references used in the event call back to Shōgatsu or the Japanese New Year festival. This is a time where people WILL dress in traditional kimono and participate in traditional games, dances, eating traditional foods. So seeing the cast in kimono makes a world of sense.
The character I want to talk about in this post specifically is Ortho. His design for the New Year is honestly such a great example of how the different subtleties in kimono all come together to paint a picture, and tell you so much about the person wearing the kimono. Because ultimately, when I look at Ortho's kamishimo? All I see is brilliant foreshadowing about the entire plot of Book 6 and his role in the narrative.
Tumblr media
The first thing I want to draw your attention to is the colors. It's the thing we see at a first glance. And while yes, these are the colors of Ignihyde, you might find it interesting to know how this combination translates in the kimono visual language. White, black, and blue are colors associated with and/or signify winter and death. So even if you had no idea that Ortho lived in STYX and was twisted from the film adaptation, Hercules, you could still draw that association from what colors he chose to wear and specifically which color is his base color - white, and which are his accent colors- black and blue.
To further explain, black is the traditional color worn when wearing mourning kimono. And white bleached cotton is traditionally worn as the garments of the deceased. While it may be a bit of a stretch, to me, the choice to use white base garments with black and blue accessories may actually reflect his in-between state. The way that real Ortho is dead, and this Ortho lives in his place is a huge aapect of the narrative behind Idia and Ortho. Grief and the negotiation of self identity, the path that Ortho takes to figuring out who he is despite being a living memory of someone who is dead, is not lost in the visual language of this kamishimo. I think, whether intentional or not, it's something reflected in how the black overlays the white, signifying that mourning and that life after the passing of another.
The next thing I want to actually draw your attention to is the era that the kimono comes from and the style of the kimono. This kimono is actually called a "kamishimo". The Kamishimo was the uniform worn by samurai during the Edo Period shōganate. The combination of the overcoat with the inner shirt, hakama pants, and specific style of adorned obi was quintisential for anyone who lived as a samurai. It signified their role in the government and their social status without the need for explanation, allowing people to adjust their mannerisms accordingly upon first meeting the samurai.
We know from how Idia refers to himself as 拙者 (sessha) and refers to others as -氏 (shi) that he and Ortho are incredibly passionate about the Edo period and very specifically samurai. So it really is a cute nod to that that Ortho would be wearing it. At least... if that's where the symbolism ended.
See the thing that strikes me about his kamishimo is that it's not a "real" kamishimo either. From the silouhette, color scheme, and broad shoulders, we can actually deduce that the kamishimo here is a theatrical kamishimo- worn in Kabuki theater.
Kabuki theater really developed and took off during the Edo period, especially during the Era in which women were forbidden from performing on stages. Many of the jidai-mono (historical plays) performed in Kabuki utilize yakugara (character archetypes) to make it much easier for audiences to watch and appreciate the narrative. These archetypes are often visually defined by uniform or repeating characteristics in their kimono, their makeup, their wigs, and their props as a short hand for audiences to be able to follow.
One such yakugara is called the "jitsuaku". This archetype is specifically defined by an "evil mastermind who plots to overthrow the goverment/feudal lord through rebellion", either due to seeking revenge, wanting power, or by whatever rationale the narrative gives him.
Here are some classical depictions of the jitsuaku in traditional artworks:
Source
Tumblr media
Source
Tumblr media
We can see by the depictions what the common color schemes and patterns used in their kamishimo are; the big/baggy silouhette with extremely dramatic, pointed shoulder pads; and the various decorative accessories and how they are placed.
Look familiar?
Ortho's silouhette very clearly harkons back to these specific types of kamishimo, that are considered archetypal of the jitsuaku. In other words, I have reason to suspect that the card designers of TWST are depicting Ortho as a jitsuaku... a evil mastermind who seeks to take over an institution through rebellion...
That sounds an awful lot like the plot of Book 6 and his specific role in the narrative to me.
This is all to say that the visual language of kimono is so so prevalent in his design, and I would extend that argument to every design in the New Year's line up - yes, this includes the most recent inclusion of Jack, Malleus, Jamil, and Floyd. And personally, I think it's genuinely so so cool and incredible that they would choose to add those nuances intentionally into the design in order to tell us everything that we need to know about the character- from social status, to gender and sexuality, to even personal feelings and emotions. It shows how much love is genuinely poured into making these characters feel alive and dynamic, and I think it's genuinely worth taking the time to appreciate.
And if you are still reading this and you are just starting to learn more about the visual art of kimono, then I genuinely hope you find this as encouragement to deep dive and learn more for yourself. Because honestly having that access and knowledge to those cultural elements and traditions truly helps open your eyes to all of the subtleties and messages that the creator wants you to see. And moreover? I think it really helps allow us to better appreciate the characters and the artwork on a much deeper level.
Thank you for reading this. I hope you genuinely found it fun, insightful, and maybe even inspiring. 💚

"I think this boils down to a generational dispute." Ok, then the younger generation should be talking about the great acting moments of Zendaya's very long career. Or uploading scenes of her being "hot". Do you see that? I don't.
"I don't know how you can argue that 28 is anything but young" It's a mature age, heading to thirty. As Emma Watson said, you then have to worry about your fertility declining. If sex is what you are selling, then you better have something other than just looks to carry it off. I don't think she even has looks.
Tumblr media
She always seems to have the same sulky expression.
Tumblr media
She doesn't move in a way that is sexy, she doesn't have anything distinctive about her voice ..
Tumblr media
Honestly, there's girls at my local cafe who look more "hot".
"She also started calling the shots at an early age. Working on Disney’s Shake It Up (2010-13), she refused to perform a scripted kiss because, as she said later, she didn’t want her first kiss to be on television. On her next series, K.C. Undercover (2015-18), she insisted on a title change, a producer’s credit and the inclusion of a family of colour. At 16, she knew her worth." She's been in major productions, getting her way as an activist, since childhood. How can you say she hasn't had an opportunity to shine yet? How many spotlights can she be put under before she manages more than a pout?
I saw a starlet filming herself in a queue once, and Morena Baccarin was in the background, clearly unhappy with being filmed. Then a switch was flipped, and she turned on the Movie Star. She dominated the area. Same thing with Marilyn Monroe, who famously could walk around in public, then switch on the persona and be recognised, as if it was just a party trick. Being hot has to be more than looks for it to last past the twenties, it has to be how you pose, how you move, what you say, how you perform.
Compare:
Tumblr media
Just doing her own thing.
Tumblr media
Seducing the camera.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
People still pay to see Morena do her sexy thing, and she's mid forties.
Mae West made a whole career out of being "hot".
Tumblr media
youtube
She couldn't have done it if the only card she had to play was appearance.
"I don't actually understand your point about Tessa Thompson." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tessa_Thompson
She was in everything for a while, she had major major roles, and disappeared. She aged out. She didn't have the acting chops to continue once her looks faded. Or maybe it's just that she lost the ability to trade sex for roles.
I think Zendaya's timer is about to go off. She'll be kicked upstairs, become another Kathleen Kennedy, or move onto something else. She can't act, she has no charisma, she has nothing distinctive, and she's not good enough at any one thing to justify being lousy in everything else.
Bronson's stoicism was famous. Being only good at one thing worked for him, because it was something that people wanted to see. Zendaya's one thing she does is pout. That's it.
Here's my bet. In a few years, I might, if we are both on tumblr, mention this argument, and you'll struggle to remember it, and think it was just silly, and feel you must have been right to find Zendaya hot but you can't quite remember why you did. Someone else will have replaced her, and it will be as if she never was.
She's product on the conveyor.
Tumblr media
Whereas someone like Sydney Sweeney is a lot more likely to have a career because she not only has a better body, but personality, or at least projects the Star persona better.
youtube
youtube
Jenna Ortega also oozes charisma.
youtube
Compare Jenna with something she is interested in, to Zendaya talking about her favourite hobby.
youtube
Skip to 1:30 - Henry just obliterates the area with his charisma. Tom's also pretty good, lots of work with tones and makes jokes, bouncing off the people around him; I can see him doing a chat show if he wanted.
But Zendaya? She's dull and almost monotone. They're like um you attach the thing and they're like a thing ....
She's supposed to be passionate about this.
But she's just .... there.
Tumblr media
I must've missed something bc can anyone tell me why everybody's talking about The Odyssey lately

I'm out here staring at ppl like this: 🤨 everytime someone says Geta wouldn't be a bottom or a sub or anything
Like wdym the man's who's had no proper maternal or paternal figures in his life, who so carefully hugs and comforts his brother, who looks so small and vulnerable in the scenes without his makeup, who practically attached himself to Macrinus for advice as soon as the other man who he'd been attached to (Acacius) betrayed him *isnt* a bottom? Like this man was a *young* emperor who was looking after himself and his 'crazy' brother who wished to be adored and remembered by his people.
THIS MAN WOULDVE BEEN A SUB AND EVEN IF HE WASNT, HE *NEEDS* IT.
Let this man be dommed!!!!!
(Same anon who said they were happy to see someone else who was passionate and matched their belief about bottom geta btw)
me too bro me too, i look with the very same face to everybody who says geta is a dom, dominant bottom ?? yeah sure, dom like in dom? nah hell nah
geta was (literally) caracalla's mother figure in some kind of way, wich is sad because in the movie we don't SEE any kind of model role (except you know who) for geta so he tried to be one to caracalla.
lord forbid both marcus acacius and macrinus for taking somewhat advantage of geta when all he wanted was someone to look at up to and someone who could finally protect him and embrace him with love and made him feel safe.
like it was all he wanted fr, since he was never allowed to show weakness, he just wanted someone he could he weak to.
and oh to be geta's sleeping robe to hug his finely made body, he looks so ethereal and pretty and delicate and vulnarable without his dramatic 2000s baddie makeup and formal attire.
honestly marcus acacius and lucius fumbled it bad bad bro cus if i was them and had this smeshxy young emperor literally asking me with his eyes to be bedded i wouldn't have think it twice.
NOO FRR HE WOULD'VE BEEN A BOTTOM LIKE KING OF THE BOTTOMS

quick question, how we feeling about hong Lu's new id after the trailer? I am personally so fucking hyped
Oh there's a lot I am feeling. Not just about Hong Lu's new id, but I am feeling things about them regardless.
I don't usually do full analysis on walpurgy trailers, but I want to at the very least plop down some observations I noted.
One - THERE IS A NEW TRACK IN THE SECOND HALF??? I can tell it's not originally from Ruina. They added. A wholeass new track. For the Church of Broken Gears fight. Fucking Incredible Honestly.
Two - Nothing too interesting going on with the Full Stop Heathcliff voice lines we got. It's mostly reiteration of the ammo-preserving ideas we got from Ruina's Full Stop Office reception, but we do get a little bit of lore through the full name of one of the ammo we see being used - Atelier Logic-made high velocity pulverisation round.
Three - Gameplay trailer for Full Stop Heathcliff. Three-coin Skill 1. One-coin Skill 2. One-coin Skill 3. Special Skill 3/Skill 4 that uses a cinematic as fuck animation of a unique bullet, my guess is that this Skill is used for either the last Ammo or through some other unique conditional. Evade that causes a followup attack from Full Stop Hong Lu. Retreat mechanic similar to Devyat IDs, but in this case upon running out of Ammo. Upon return, Heathcliff uses another Skill 1 - I'm guessing this is to showcase that this retreat is a Reload mechanic.
Four - Full Stop Hong Lu voice lines. So can we talk about the middle line? "I don't think the Head wants people to die anti-climactically. But what is an anticlimatic death anyway? We can put all kinds of meaningful labels on deaths, but it's still death at the end of the day." Hey. Hey Hong Lu. What the fuck are you talking about? This is terrifying because this could have two equally as likely explanations. This could be a Baoyuism, a musing about Daiyu's death being meaningless. OR. This could be a Daiyuism, a musing on the nature of death not unlike that of the flower burial scene. And the fact that both fit scares me.
Five - Gameplay trailer for Full Stop Hong Lu. Two-or-three-coin Skill 1. Four-or-five-coin Skill 2. Maybe four-coin Skill 3. Hard to tell if every gunshot is one coin or not. Then, we get something that I fucking called - Full Stop Hong Lu has an alternate Skillset for when he runs out of Ammo. Three-coin Skill 1. Three-coin Skill 2. Three-coin Skill 3. Next up, clashable Counter with two coins and what seems like a Reload. Then, a similar followup attack, in this case Full Stop Heathcliff shooting as a followup to Hong Lu's attack. And another followup attack mechanic, except in this case while Heathcliff has retreated - he can snipe enemies from afar.
Six - Quick note on Magic Bullet Outis E.G.O animation: I don't think what we're seeing is one continuous cinematic of one E.G.O use. I think this E.G.O will display different animations and have different effects depending on the amount of uses, aka depending on the amount of Magic Bullet Ammo. Similar to how Magic Bullet Outis ID's Skill 3 changes depending on the amount of Magic Bullet Ammo.
Seven - Magic Bullet Outis E.G.O Voice lines. Cause holy shit there's a lot of them.
Awakening:
"It really is as you say; this is a magic bullet that will never miss." - This is obviously a reflection of how the bullet is given through a deal with the devil... which then makes me think. Was Outis's role in the war also a deal with the devil? Was there someone in her life who willingly gave her the position of commander?
"There's no going back when I've already come this far by firing the bullet. Even if this road I walk is an inevitable path to inferno." - A reflection of Outis's own feelings. She feels like after what she's done, she can't turn back and change, even if she knows that continuing down this path will spell her doom. It's an insecurity we see be partially unearthed in Canto 7.
"The despairing heart is burnt black, never to fade away. Only its shearing cold floods within." - Perhaps a hint to her deeper feelings. Despair is what led her to taking the deal, and in the process she had to burn her heart and leave it with nothing but cold within.
"Though it was despair that I sought, the bullet's trajectory... is predetermined!" - Something something this flow cannot be stopped. Outis feeling like no matter her motivations she can't change what she's doing because she's in far too deep.
Corrosion:
"A bullet was fired, a magic bullet that will never miss." - Interesting how in these she completely dissociates herself from the bullet firing. Perhaps it's a reflection of how she deals with the crimes she's committed. Detaching herself from them, seeing them as just something that happened
"No justice, no malice. Only a finger that pulls the trigger." - Not just personal dissociation, but a dissociation from any emotions. Trying to say there is No real motivation for the bullet, it's just something that happens regardless. There's no malicious intent, but no righteous justice either. Just calculated violence.
"I'll be left alone in this inferno at the end of the road." - Girl you are so abandonment issues. This could be a reflection of both how she's worried about whether anyone is waiting for her to come back, but also an insecurity about whether anyone will accept her for knowing what she's done.
"Though I may lack the will to move forward... ...the bullet's forward-momentum cannot be stopped." - Reflection of how Outis, despite not wanting to continue down this path, feels like she has no choice. This flow cannot be stopped. Unable to change, she continues on.
To me, the awakening is a reflection of Outis when it all began. When she took the deal at the start of the war. The corrosion on the other hand is a reflection of Outis how she is now. One who is distant from the past, and yet unable to move on from it.

A few questions bc I can't sleep and am obsessed with your au
For the AU movie plot, would April, Splints, and Casey Jr's roles stay the same? Would Draxum be more involved?
Also, for the bad future, would Mikey be the reason they didn't get the key?
Would April be very involved in the bad future or would she die early on with Donnie?
Yeah April, Splinter and CJ have basically the same roles in the movie as they do in canon, at least from what I've planned so far. I don't think Draxum is gonna be around for the events of the movie? I did initally wanna involve him more, but a big part of the AU's events is Mikey freaking out about the entire situation, them being on the brink of an apocalyps, Donnie having captured and how Mikey's mistakes contributed to the terrible situation they've found themselves in. Mikey having his dad there would provide a source comfort and stability, but that would also remove some tension from the story, I think it's more interesting if Mikey has to deal with all of this mostly by himself. (Also it'll be pretty impactful when Draxum finally manages to meet back up with the rest of the family after the movie's events only to find out that his baby boy got turned into turtle pancake by the krang lmaooooo)
When it comes to the Key being fumbled, both Mikey and Donnie are honestly to blame for that. They're bickering constantly and instead of working together during missions they're constantly trying to out-do each other, which obviously just causes problems for everyone.
When it comes to the bad future, April dies pretty early on :( Since I'm keeping Casey Sr alive I gotta balance it out lmao. Also Donnie losing both April and Leo, the two people he's arguably closest to, kinda forces him to seek out comfort from Raph and Mikey which causes him to grow closer to them. Donnie also dies eventually of course, but it's several years into the apocalypse. I had initally planned for him to die either shortly before or after CJ was born, but I also want Donnie to have been the one who made CJ's prosthetic which means CJ had to have been a bit older, at earliest pre-teens of early teens or something idk.

[ENG] Marinelli: “Playing Mussolini? It was painful”
The actor, on stage without pauses in the eight episodes, talks about his experience in the role of the dictator: "I didn't know how things went, I hope that M can be useful to the public".
Tumblr media
Luca Marinelli didn't just give Benito Mussolini his face, he gave him his entire soul. Present in practically every scene of the eight episodes of the series "M - The son of the century", coming soon to Sky and streaming on NOW, he climbed through dialogues without time limits and monologues that he gave shape to by looking straight into the camera, an unbelievable work and not just of interpretation: The feeling I had reading Antonio Scurati's book was of having been confronted with my gigantic ignorance. It’s healthy to confront this, never take it for granted that you always have all the answers and simplify life, because this attitude is called populism, and it was invented by Mussolini himself. It’s healthy to know the limits of our knowledge, I honestly didn’t think that things had gone this way and I hope that they push the audience towards the desire to be present to themselves, to make their own interpretations, knowing that they are not alone. “During the shooting he confesses - I would have liked to be launched on some other planet. We talked about our history, which is perhaps the most painful thing and I am very happy with what we did. It happened that in some scenes I got excited with the Duce, which generated a deep sadness in me, but I had to crush something in myself to continue to pump this dark side of evil, a process that for me was very painful. Some scenes struck me particularly, like the ones we shot in Parliament, even there Mussolini did not hide any of his aims, we filmed the speeches he made and for me repeating those words was something really scary”.
To prepare for this difficult job, the actor watched many films from the Istituto Luce “and even in their triumphant aspects I perceived the great violence of fascism, it’s wrong to treat dictators like devils or madmen, because they are people like us and we need to know them”. But it’s precisely the knowledge that is lacking in our country, starting with the education of our school system, about which Marinelli has several doubts. “I’m curious - he says - to see what the public's reaction will be to the arrival of the series. I believe it’s important to start counting on an education ‘alive’ again, but in Italy unfortunately we don’t invest in the school system and we see obvious results. I have not been a great student in my path, but honestly I don’t remember having addressed these issues, perhaps we didn’t even get there with the program and I think it’s dangerous”. After so many months spent wearing the uncomfortable shoes of Mussolini, it was not easy for the actor to get out of a role that was totally immersive. “This series - concludes - left me with the fact of wanting to be present in my present and my past. Only like this can we understand what we are experiencing today as well as going in the direction that is most useful to everyone”.

♡ a/n — for my more than a married couple event!
♡ content — isagi yoichi x gn! reader, gn! reader, unrequited love, isagi and reader are childhood friends, isagi mentions liking another girl (no name mentioned), KUNIGAMI MENTIONED!!! (once but i love him), reader has feelings for isagi, set in high school :)
♡ synopsis — you'd wait for a million chances with isagi yoichi, but he wouldn't even give you one.
Tumblr media
You knew doing this marriage simulation with Isagi Yoichi was a mistake the moment you saw his name on the pairing list.
Your heart clenched, the familiar ache settling in your chest. Isagi had always been your closest friend—someone who could make you laugh on your worst days and whose determination inspired you to push forward. But that closeness came with a cost: the quiet, unreciprocated feelings you’d carried for years.
It was fine, though. You’d learned how to manage them. Or so you thought.
“Hey!” Isagi greeted you that first day in the shared apartment, his signature smile lighting up the room. “Looks like we’re stuck with each other, huh?”
“Yeah,” you said, forcing a grin. “Lucky me.”
If he noticed the strain in your voice, he didn’t say anything.
The first few weeks of the program were easy enough. Isagi’s natural charm made it impossible not to enjoy his company, and his unrelenting optimism balanced out your more cautious approach.
He was attentive, thoughtful, and surprisingly good at playing the role of a devoted partner. It felt so real sometimes that you had to remind yourself it wasn’t.
The way he’d casually sling an arm around your shoulders when the instructors were watching, the way he’d call you by a pet name that made your stomach flip—it was all for show. And when the simulation ended, it would all go away.
You reminded yourself of that every night as you lay awake in your separate rooms, staring at the ceiling and wishing things could be different.
One evening, after a particularly intense day of tasks, you both collapsed on the couch, a shared bowl of popcorn between you.
“Man, I don’t know how people do this for real,” Isagi said with a laugh, throwing a piece of popcorn into his mouth. “It’s exhausting.”
You smiled faintly, keeping your eyes on the TV. “Guess it’s easier when you’re with someone you actually love.”
Isagi hummed in agreement. “Yeah, I bet it is.”
The silence stretched, the weight of his words settling over you like a blanket. You didn’t dare look at him, afraid of what you’d see.
Instead, you changed the subject, masking your hurt with a joke that made him laugh. But his words stayed with you, carving deeper into the parts of you that already felt raw.
It wasn’t until halfway through the program that you found out why Isagi had signed up for it.
You were cleaning up after dinner when he blurted it out, his voice casual but laced with excitement.
“Did I tell you? She joined the program, too. She’s paired with Kunigami.”
Your hand froze mid-wash, the plate slipping slightly under your grip. “Who?” Isagi had been your friend, yes, but he'd never told you about another girl before.
"She's in our class," He nodded, his eyes lighting up at the mention of her. “I’ve been meaning to tell her how I feel, but I guess I haven’t found the right moment yet. This program’s the perfect chance, though, right?”
Your stomach dropped, the air around you suddenly too heavy.
“Right,” you said, forcing a smile. “Perfect chance.”
He didn’t notice the tremor in your voice or the way you quickly turned back to the sink, blinking back tears.
From that point on, everything hurt a little more.
The way he’d absentmindedly lean into you during group exercises, the way he’d talk about his plans for the future, the way he’d practice his “husband” role so earnestly—it all felt like salt in a wound you couldn’t close.
You wanted to hate him for how blind he was to your feelings, but you couldn’t. It wasn’t his fault. And you couldn’t fault him for wanting someone like Tsubaki, someone who was bright and kind and seemingly perfect in every way.
You could only stand by and watch, your heart breaking a little more with each passing day.
The final night of the program came faster than you’d expected.
You sat together on the couch, the apartment eerily quiet now that all the tasks were done.
“Hard to believe it’s over, huh?” Isagi said, his voice soft.
“Yeah,” you replied, staring at your hands. “Hard to believe.”
He leaned back, his gaze thoughtful. “You know… I think this program taught me a lot. About relationships, about myself. And about you.”
Your heart skipped, hope flickering despite yourself. “Yeah? What about me?”
He smiled, that familiar, radiant smile that had always made you feel like the world was brighter. “You’re an amazing friend. I don’t think I could’ve done this without you.”
Friend.
The word echoed in your mind, snuffing out the tiny ember of hope that had been burning inside you.
“Thanks, Yoichi,” you said, your voice steady despite the lump in your throat. “I’m glad I could help.”
The next morning, you packed your things in silence, the weight of unspoken words heavy in the air.
When it was time to leave, Isagi pulled you into a tight hug, his warmth making it even harder to let go.
“Thanks for everything,” he said, his voice sincere. “I’ll never forget this.”
“Me neither,” you murmured, your words barely audible.
As you walked away, the tears you’d been holding back finally spilled over.
You’d known from the start that this was how it would end—with Isagi chasing after someone else, and you left behind, holding onto feelings that would never be returned.
But even so, you didn’t regret it. Because for a little while, you’d gotten to be close to him. And that, you told yourself, was enough.
Tumblr media
it was so awful making this not have a happy ending :,)
i hope you liked it!
likes, comments, and reblogs are appreciated!

Girl you saw Aaron kissing on that white woman?
I hate to say it but that British black man with sum blue eyes like em PALE. (Of course I am saying this purely in suspicion)
Yeah, I seent it. So? Lmfao. Sorry. Ik folks are pressed but I simply don't understand the need to find something bad about this man?
We have so very few (practically nonexistent) Black men that we can love on in public. He's smart, sweet, talented, precious, a goofball, a nerd, and introvert, and has been nothing but precious around Black women. He practically lights up around us.
Why is it so hard to believe that he's just....a good guy? Because we have proof that he liked ONE yt? Dont they all?
But what really gets me is that folks think he's not capable of liking a yt AND a Black woman 🤔 like he has to be on one camp or the other.
And this is purely MY opinion. I'm not shaming anyone for caring. I understand. Its so beyond exhausting to feel like we're not wanted by our own counterparts. That they continually play in our faces and we love them anyway.
But until I actually see that he move funny around us, I just wanna love on him. I love that hes goofy and silly. I love that he can't dance. I love that he can sing and rap (though British rap is asssss, sorry Aaron daddy 🥲). I love that hes an introvert. I love hearing him say "opportunity, for me personally, legacy, honored, brother, bruv" and whatever else fly outta that beautiful mouth of his.
I love that hes "lightskinned". I love that I get to see him in Lanterns next year, however I can have him. Because I know Gunn will piss me smooth awf 🙄 I love that hes 6'3. I love that he works out. I love that he has tattoos. I love his big ass hands and that ass 🙌🏽 (that ass really needs to be worshipped)

I think Orym is a fascinating character in a way that is often underappreciated, because he is fundamentally a soldier, he was trained as a soldier, and that's... not a bad thing? It has no moral indication, and certainly doesn't imply that Orym is going dark. In fact, in the current circumstances, Orym acting as a soldier is very important and may actually get them through this in one piece.
I do feel that this aspect of his character is frequently approached in the fandom as an afterthought or even swept under the rug, or flat out viewed as a flaw to be overcome (especially given the overall landscape of military conflict in the real world), but being a trained soldier is not inherently indicative of specific morality or ideology. I think it's a judgment that also gets levied against paladins, because, much like any organized forces in fantasy are equated with modern militaries, fantasy worship is equated with Christianity (sometimes in the guise of 'organized religion' with all of its problematic connotations). It's incredibly black and white, and it doesn't fundamentally make sense in much of Exandria, but in this case especially.
You cannot fundamentally map the Tempest Blades onto any real life military, because the task of the Tempest, and Ashari culture as a whole, is protection against both extraplanar threats and also the malicious or misguided intentions of those on the Material Plane trying to fuck with the elemental planes. This is distinctly different even in universe from, for instance, Caleb, who was trained as an assassin in the name of nationalism, or Yasha, who was trained to be a leader in the name of tribalism.
And these two threats that the Ashari are tasked with resisting are both frequent, credible, and existential! Failing at this task is liable to have major sweeping repercussions for the rest of Exandria! It is highly probable that a soldier with Orym's training is expected to need to make incredibly difficult decisions in defense of the common good at more than one point in their life—decisions that would make every person who laughs at the premise of the trolley problem shit their pants.
And crucially, Orym wants his friends to get out of this. He has in fact already promised his entire life to ensure that they do, because he also fundamentally needs them to be able to do what they came for, without hesitation, because the singular mandate that he has devoted himself to is protecting the Material Realm from extraplanar threats, and regardless of the fact that the rest of them do not have the same training, that is also the task that the Hells have chosen.
If Nana Morri can get the Hells out in one piece, regardless of what choices they make, then their personal risk doesn't matter. I imagine that Orym isn't going to tell them that, because given the scope of the threat, there's not necessarily a guarantee that Morri can make that happen, so the rest of the Hells have to make the choice themselves to take the risk and trust that the others have their backs. And in the end, if Orym has to live with that no matter which way fate plays out, he will. He's already had plenty of practice.
They're at war, and that's how soldiers operate. Because when they're behind enemy lines, it's the only way missions get completed and they have a chance of making it back alive.

I made more Mikoto Danganronpa sprites + 1 Fuuta. Some people suggested Ultimate Graphic Designer for Mikoto, which seems more appropriate for him (he literally has a graphic on his shirt). Since Ultimates are at the top of their field, Mikoto must have been so proud of himself (he probably has that independent company he dreamed of). It's so sad that he's in the killing game prison now.
I saw candyckirby's post suggesting what Ultimates everyone would have, and I think they're all interesting choices. I think Fuuta would specifically be the Ultimate Gaming Influencer, and the rest of the Dark Triad would be the other influencers he makes content with. He still does his cyberbullying on the side.
I feel like if Mikoto were to become blackened, his situation would probably be that someone plotted to kill him and John killed them to protect him. I just have this image in my head of John being so distressed when he gets exposed because Mikoto is going to die. He's not concerned about himself, only Mikoto, and he desperately pleads with everyone that it shouldn't count because Mikoto himself didn't do the murder. Jackalope isn't convinced, so he gets executed anyway.

I think what people don't understand is that Joe just can't take money from someone.
When for so long you have had only yourself to depend on, and built yourself a career and everything by working yourself to bone, it becomes a habit. It becomes a part of your life. Now of course there are friends who will help you! They will be there for you, no questions asked but you are always going to depend on yourself first. Always going to work and exhaust yourself first.
Which is why it hurt so much when Ming destroyed his career. Because it was something Joe built for himself. It was an oppourtunity Joe got after being decades under Tong's shadow. It was the fruit of his labour. There truly was nothing Ming could have done after he sabotaged Joe to make it right. Because it doesn't work like that, not for Joe at least...
Also if I am to talk about it with a dose of reality ( yeah, yeah i know this show has many plotholes but bear with me), then I would say that the world is a cruel place for those who are not born into wealth and I think some characters, are written in a way from which we can infer that.
The world will think of someone in a certain way, just because they are not that well established or on the highroad to success (remember that once Sol thought Joe wanted to take advantage of him. Like yeah he had his reasons and he didn't really know Joe well, but still...).
I don't know how to say this without sounding awkward but no matter what, Joe cannot just take handouts. Because someone, somewhere might say something. Might think something. Joe said to Ming once that he might not be as good as Tong, but he had his dignity. Ultimately it comes to that...Joe won't take a monetary favour in the way of a handout.
This is why he will say no to Wut, he will say no to Sol, but he will say yes to Ming. Because that 5 million baht is what he will be earning himself. It is a job. Being with Ming, is as much a job as it is being a stuntman for Tong or a model in a music video.

as a little treat i am sharing with you little Aya doodles I've done over the last few days to unwind ww just little expressions based on lines in-game because those are always fun to draw. nothing too special just biscuit
it's Aya because upon doing bizarrely throughout playthroughs of the game for still unspecified project purposes I've gained a soft spot for her she's my daughter now my mental tier list on my favorite characters is so confusing right now
#re:kinder#fanart#aya re:kinder#aya hibino#i state shes my daughter NOW because before i didnt pay too big of a mind to her#but honestly in each different playthrough of this game i gain new appreciation for each character#because fun fact ryou was my favorite character at first just because he seemed nice and was a healer and was nice#second playthrough brought in rei and shunsuke in my mind because they ate it up wirh their roles in the story#meanwhile as time passed yuuichi started to grow on me as i realized he was a little too relatable BASICALLY THINGS LIKE THAT#and spoilers for the unspecified project mentioned in the text just because i feel like it#i also did this because having a transcript of every line just spurred me on becquse of how easy it made things#its much more fun to start doing these kind of line based doodles when you dont have to manually go througj hours of gameplay to find stuff#so just being ablr to ctrl f through a document made me very glad HEUEHEHEBEHR#im still working on it it needs proofreading and polishing on some sides but overall it should be here soon i hope#if anyones interested in it do let me know HUEHEHEBRB i will post it regardless but it would be nice to know if anyone is interested#ANYWAY#as to why Aya seems to have a purse when her sprite doesnt its because her equipment mentions her carrying a yellow pouch#its meant to be that!!!#she looks very goofy with it on made me giggle ngl#(as in. amusement)#it adds more interest to her visual design so its nice to have it there im glad its there#OH YEAH SOME COMMENTARY ON ONE OF HER LINES HERE THAT REALLY PIQUED MY INTEREST#if sayaka dies and shes there to see it (thus. you chose to bring her with you) she has this line#where it implies that shes afraid of dying which makes things sad when she's suicidal#she already states i think her desire is more to disappear than to die exactly but even then it's quite sad#like even if she wants to disappear with how gloomy she's feeling and all the things going around with her parents#shes just a little girl who doesn't want to die😭😭#it really adds a sense of realism to how depression is tackled in game at least for me#that when one is depressed and suicidal a lot of the time it's the wish for this state of suffering to end rather than to actually die#SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER ITS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT UPPED MY APPRECIATION FOR HER

So because I wandered into the Prima tag earlier today, my brain has now concocted a headcanon regarding him in Transformers One
Namely that he was originally the leader of Cybertron and the Matrix holder (since I think in other continuities he is also that along with the 13th), but it eventually was passed down to Zeta after Prima just couldn’t handle it anymore
I don’t know if this is how the thought originally started out, but currently my brain says he basically had a huge mental health crisis and crash out, which may or may not have resulted in him nearly killing another of the Primes (not intentionally mind you, he was having an episode and immediately regretted it afterwards), my brain saying Megatronus in particular because that parallel drama
This was in part the result of being the main ruler of the planet and also Cybertron, a position that causes a lot of stress, but another is his status as not only the original Prime, but the original Transformer, and the status that alone brings, as well as being around for everything and basically having to always be the one to lead and try to build things up for all of history, because there’s no one before him to ask for guidance, outside of Primus himself who’s their god
Then after everything went to hell and everyone realized way too much was on his shoulders, they eventually came to the conclusion that someone else should take his role in his stead, which ended up being Zeta, while Prima basically got therapy
By the time the Primes died, Prima was doing a lot better; therapy and retirement treated him well. It’s also not to say he wasn’t still involved in the politics of Cybertron and didn’t help Zeta out in his role, just that he did significantly less than what he used to
