I fully agree that Cass and Kiera would love the slasher films. Cass likes the more modern ones because quite a few of them have a feminist vibe, whereas Kiera likes the classics because 1) they’re cooler and 2) they were probably the ones Lance showed her first.

Lance and Rapunzel both like the less spooky and more vibey Halloween movies. Like you said, a lot of Tim Burton and Halloween specials. I think Raps would like Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride in particular. I think Lance likes Beetlejuice (in his opinion the musical is much better.) Rapunzel probably loves The Great Pumpkin Peanuts special and all the Phineas And Ferb Halloween specials.

I think Eugene probably also likes the classic slasher films. And like you said, Cat likes the classic Universal Monster films.

Quirin probably watches Halloween movies like the Universal Monster movies, along with some of my ultimate faves- Arsenic and Old Lace and I Married A Witch. Basically Quirin watches a lot of older Halloween movies and I think Varian ended up with those as his favorites. Tbh I don’t think Varian watches a lot of fictional things to scare himself (or at all.) When spooky season comes around, he watches things like Blameitonjorge, Nexpo, Nick Crowley, etc. True scary stories. He probably also loves the internet rabbit holes because they’re kind of like puzzles. (I’m really projecting onto him ngl but it fits okay!)

I feel like Hugo likes “bad” Halloween movies. Failures. Movies that fail so badly at being scary they’re funny. Think Velocipastor (please think about Velocipastor it’s the greatest movie in existence) but I can also see him enjoying Found Footage and along with Varian, “True” scary stories.

I think Hugo, Varian, and the girls watch obviously fake ghost hunting videos and make fun of them. They watch a lot of John Wolfe. I can also see Varigo + Eugene, Lance, and the girls really liking Buzzfeed Unsolved and Ghost/Mystery Files, along with Too Many Spirits. Which Varigo reenact at one point.

I think Lance, Eugene, and the girls watch the Conjuring series and other paranormal movies together. I can’t see Cass and Hugo enjoying them a whole lot, and Varian and Rapunzel are super afraid of them. I can see Varian and Rapunzel watching The Twilight Zone together. And also those Halloweentown movies on Disney (I’ve not seen them but they seem like Disney Channel fans) Varian, Raps, and Eugene watched the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina but deemed it not nearly as good as the original sitcom. Eugene and Hugo hate-watch Twilight. Raps watches Halloween baking shows. Lance and Hugo like Rocky Horror Picture Show. Lance and Eugene like Young Frankenstein.

(long rly pointless ramble abt requests and inboxes and blogs and writing etc etc under the cut if my thoughts don’t make sense at all it’s cause it’s 2 am shush)

like I love requests so much I love sharing brainrot and being able to write a fic for someone and making them happy w my writing it’s the whole reason I started writing in the first place. but I just love my own brain and the fics that I come up with on my own as well and I think it’s rly important for writers to consistently write things that their own brain thought of and write them just because they want to. I’ve seen writers put sm pressure on themselves to complete requests and I totally understand that but I kinda hate how they even feel that pressure in the first place bcuz it takes away the joy of writing and you find yourself unable to even think of what to write anymore cause it’s become associated with the stress of “getting it done” like some sort of school assignment. requests can be such a blessing and a way to connect a fandom more and build a community and even a little family within a blog but it can also be so stressful. feeling bad that you’ve taken too long to finish a request, having anons harass you in your inbox for not writing their request “quickly enough”, and the general entitlement ppl have adopted when they’re literally asking— ASKING someone else to do something FOR THEM. I don’t experience this too often and I don’t want any of the people who have sent me requests to feel bad for sending them in, trust me I LOVE the requests. but I do wonder sometimes if ppl on my blog wonder why I take so long to finish requests and why I never close them either lmao. cause it is quite different from all my moots’ blogs and majority of blogs on tumblr that I’ve seen… and I just think I always want to have that option for readers to spill their thoughts into a request without the pressure or expectation that it’s going to be answered quickly. closing and opening inboxes is an amazing way to work through requests systematically and consistently while also not getting bogged down by too many. and I think readers probably like that system(?) cause it’s a higher chance of their request getting done quickly! (and to those readers who send out the same request to a bunch of different authors idk WHY you do this idc if it’s just bcuz you wanted to see how we would all interpret it differently, honestly fuck you. bcuz it just feels so empty and pointless like you don’t actually care abt us as authors and our writing but just want to see how fast an author can get your idea written and posted. it’s like you’re using us as machines and testing who will be the fastest and who will stay on the loading screen the longest. it’s so disappointing tbh. and maybe this is also why i enjoy writing for lesser known groups bcuz when I get a request it’s so precious to me i know that the reader sent it in bcuz they actually like my writing and know I’ll be able to write for a group that they love that not many other ppl write for. despite the fact that I won’t get more than 10-30 notes for a fic from a nugu group doesn’t mean that it is less rewarding.)

but then again I’ve also seen readers ignore the authors rules stating that requests are closed or get mad that they are and it’s just… sigh… we are literally writing for free for your enjoyment, we spend hundreds of hours writing these fics whether they are “good” or “bad” they still take time and effort and love and a whole lot of brainpower and googling of synonyms and staring blankly at the two sentences you’ve written before switching tabs and procrastinating for 2 hours only to come back and finish in one flurry of motivation lmao. but for me having my inbox always open and welcome for requests feels like it’s actively counteracting the expectations for writers to pump out fics like some sort of machine to feed their audience while only getting blank likes as a return (this is truly JUST my thoughts and how I view it I’m not trying to say how I do things is better or how others work their blog is wrong or anything like that. if ur a writer and u rly focus on getting ur requests done lowkey I admire u cause I do still feel some guilt looking at requests I have sitting in my inbox from like last year although I am happy and content w my system and feel that it does put the focus on me and my creativity and less on the pressure to take others ideas and make a fic for them with the side effects of time pressure and guilt for not following through if that makes sense.) all that rambling is to say that now that brain is so focused on tasks that are much more important and I have less time to think of silly little delusions, having these requests sitting in my inbox waiting for me is rly nice :) and I’m rly excited to complete more of them cause most of you have given me rly rly amazing fic ideas <3

Lmao does anyone else brainrot over team dynamics? Ik this is an xreader blog but sometimes I look at my genshin party (Beidou, Bennett, Ningguang & Shenhe) and think ‘damn this has enough potential to write a fic for’ like,

- Bennett constantly apologizing for his bad luck and Beidou always reassuring him because she knows how he feels since she was labeled as being bad luck charm in her past

- Ningguang introducing Shenhe to more modern items and customs from all over Liyue. Being up in the mountains for so long she’d probably get curious about the world around her, to which then Ning would talk about customs from other nations and Beidou would overhear and talk about her travels to them

- Shenhe would be introduced to Beidou’s crew and at first she’d be overwhelmed with the amount of people present but their friendliness makes her feel more at ease. Latest lantern rite has me thinking that some members of the crew would teach her sea shanties when Beidou’s not around

- Shenhe sees Bennett as another nephew

- Benny thinks Ningguang’s job is really cool & he really admires her. (Against the better wishes of her secretaries) she’d invite him to occasionally tag along with her to meetings & events. Doesn’t really believe in his so-called bad luck, and if anything were to happen she’d dismiss the superstition and pay to fix it

- (As a Beiguang/Beigguang shipper) the more time they spend together the more fondness they have for one another. They open up more and are a lot more vulnerable later on. When they’re in a fight against enemies they can count on one another to have their back yet will still have the ability to tease one another. If one of them gets hurt they’ll scold the other but they both know it comes from a place of love

- Shenhe is protective of everyone to a degree

- Anyone so much as raises a voice against Bennett Shenhe has her polarm out, Beidou will need to be held back and Ningguang would use her status against them

- haha

- The entirety of my 2nd spiral party is another story but open-world wise, depending on circumstance, Yae Miko & Raiden will get switched into my current party and that can probably bring about so many more dynamics

- I could probably think of more but I’m tired & I don’t have the brainpower rn to think of any more

ok hi guys. it’s been a while. i wrote this analysis back when Mag 187 aka Checking Out aka The One Where Helen Dies first came out and literally ever since i’ve posted it i’ve wanted to redo it because it feels. lacking. listen if there’s one thing i hate it’s incomplete media analysis and i must right my wrongs lest i be forced to look upon myself and crumble from within. that being said, i’ve been putting off this rewrite for a long long time bc Life Gets Weird. tldr this was written over the course of several months so i apologize for inconsistent quality. anyways let’s get into it!

part one: recap!

it’s been a while! let’s just go over what happened. the scene i wanna focus on in particular is this one:

that being said i’m gonna be kind of all over the place but! i do think that’s a good jumping off point.

part two (part one): disparaging everyone’s problematic fav

in my original post my point was that in reflexively reacting to a victim with disgust and anger jon inadvertently reveals the nature of his dedication to helping victims as ego driven, especially because this line is directly preceded by him asserting his moral high ground over helen as being a “protector” as opposed to her indulgence in destruction. what i’m saying is homeboy has a savior complex. honestly there’s a lot of evidence to support that claim but i think the most obvious example would be jordan kennedy. like.

(184). to be clear it’s an action with a good intent! he just wants to help someone who once helped him! BUT it also demonstrates a lack of conscious empathy. i feel like i don’t have to argue this since jordan Literally vocally said he didn’t want this several times throughout the scene but the point remains that while jon’s intent is good the actual application of his saviourism removes the autonomy of those he affects. i’m not gonna touch on the “is it objectively immoral to become an oppressor for the sake of self preservation while existing within an extreme system in which all are oppressed regardless of your individual status” query mostly because i do not have the brainpower available rn to come to my own conclusion about systems of power and the way they’re represented in tma (which is a whole other rant tbh) but jon DOES rob jordan of the ability to come to his own conclusion in this debate and make his own choice, thereby removing his autonomy. you know. autonomy. free will. the thing that is central to jon’s internal conflicts. huh.

anyways i NEED to stress that i’m not saying that he’s the same as jonah or the web or even annabelle (although annabelle is a victim. no i don’t take constructive criticism). i just want to point out that his actions reflect a lack of understanding. while he’s able to empathize with the pain others experience and is eternally hyper- aware of it he is unable to view that pain through any lense besides his own and uses it in his cycle of self pity and blame, minimizing it at any point possible in the quickest way and Not prioritizing the wishes of the victim but instead the efficiency in decreasing his own guilt. anyways back to 187- both the victim and jordan are treated as props by jon (and helen) and once they serve their purpose in reaffirming the two’s sense of self are cast aside and ignored. ok from here i’m gonna get conceptual and self indulgent bc it’s my analysis and i get to bring up vague convoluted philosophy.

part two (part two): part two

let’s talk about the distortion for a sec. i refuse to believe helen and michael were both completely gone and it was just the distortion piloting their visage, mostly because… like that’s not what the text would indicate

He got… distracted. Let feelings that shouldn’t have been his overwhelm me.

(101). it’s heavily implied that there was SOME remainder of michael in there, even if the being wasn’t him. maybe i’m way off base here but the way i interpreted the implosion of michael was that it was driven by his inability to maintain the repressed resentment and anger he had for gertrude. like it’s pretty clear that some warped version of michael’s feelings were trapped inside of the distortion and i’d go as far as to say that they were integral to his formation as it. i’m gonna operate on the assumption that michael and helen are two separate beings here for a sec even though we know they’re not. As opposed to michael’s resentment for the archivist, helen actively sought refuge in the institute and from the small amount we saw of her Pre-Distortion it seems like her paranoia is internally directed. i think you could even say that while michael was caught in an eternal battle with the concept of connection, helen is caught in a battle with the concept of self. the point is that she thinks of jon in a less “The Archivist” sense and more as just That Guy who she had an intense connection with that one time.

ARCHIVIST

So… S-so what do you want?

HELEN

I don’t know. Helen liked you, so… there’s a lot to consider. But I will help you leave.

(101). i would also like to point out that helen’s emergence as the distortion coincides with jon coming to terms with his identity as the archivist. parallels, baby! SO helen is a newly formed being that is grappling with the concept of her own existence and jon is reevaluating his understanding of identity as he comes to terms with the fact that he is turning into the thing he’s fighting against and this is all happening at the same time. live laugh love. stay with me here, i promise i’ll get back to 187. Throughout seasons 4 and 5 helen attempts to validate her own moral decisions via jon who she once saw herself in. conversely, jon sees both an image of what he could become AND arguably a representation of his past failure in her.

ARCHIVIST

It did. I think… I mean, you remember how I was back then, how paranoid. The Not!Sasha was there, and I could sense something wasn’t right, but I just couldn’t place it. It left me a suspicious wreck. Then when Helen Richardson came in, it seemed like… she was in the same place I was, but worse, further along. I thought, maybe if I could help her, that would mean… maybe I wasn’t beyond help?

(188). helen and jon lie at opposite ends of the same spectrum. both of them derive pleasure from the suffering of others

HELEN

Oh, John! This existence can be wonderful, if you just let it.

ARCHIVIST

[Sadly] I know.

(187). needless to say that a LOT of jon's arc and the themes surrounding him focus on the concept of autonomy and addiction and i think it'd be fair to say that this component is an aspect of that. repressing these qualities is both a way of reaffirming his control and also just.. him trying to be what he perceives as Good, and season 5 is the point at which this comes to the forefront of his character- particularly the line between what is intrinsic and what he truly has control over. a battle of the concept of the self, if you will. while the two share similar traits, jon is intensely moralistic while helen indulges in a twisted sense of hedonism and both are fueled by an inability to expand their viewpoint. helen fully immerses herself within these qualities and intentionally blinds herself to any concepts of morality (indulgence), and jon actively pushes back on this as hard as he can and follows black and white moral framework (repression). this means that in order for their relationship to function he must either accept her, choosing to let go in his personal battle with autonomy OR she must break out of her worldview and conform to standards of human morality which goes against her own nature.

part three: questions i do not have the answer to

so. what does it all mean. WELL. 187 is the boiling point of all this tension. we know that helen relies on jon to validate her sense of self and we know that jon sees himself in helen, both past and present

HELEN

But that doesn’t make any sense. You barely met her. You had half an hour together, and she spent most of that ranting about mazes! She was positively delirious with paranoia!

ARCHIVIST

True. But as you’ll recall, I was pretty paranoid myself at that point.

HELEN

So what? You saw yourself in her? A sad reflection? A possible future?

(187). I’d argue that 187 is demonstrative of jon’s inability to either fall into complete indulgence in intrinsic values that lack moral validity vs. maintain and image of self that does not conflict with the values he attempts to uphold in order to find internal satisfaction and yes both of those concepts are inherently egocentric as he bases his moral judgement on what he can justify to himself instead of what can be calculated via empathy. however. paired with the alternative (helen). is that BAD. is it inherently selfish to do what you perceive as good in order to feed your own savior complex? and if so, is it inherently selfish to indulge in destructive qualities as to not delude yourself? is honesty vs deception a black and white question? if not, where does helen even fall? in not deluding herself does she achieve a moral high ground? IS she deluding herself by denying the potential to be facetiously benevolent at the detriment of both her personal enjoyment and her honesty? does helen even posses the capability to repress her violent qualities? if she doesn't, does she have any autonomy? if she and jon are both inherently selfish and intentionally resistant to introspection, what makes them different? i do not have answers but i do think the text is meant to invoke these questions. i mean,

MICHAEL (STATEMENT)

There was a great evil, she said, and Michael was going to help her fight it. Am I evil, Archivist? Is a thing evil when it simply obeys its own nature? When it embodies its nature? When that nature is created by those which revile it? Perhaps Gertrude believed so. Michael certainly did. He believed everything she told him.

so once again. what does it all mean. well! even post helen’s death jon continues to fight for autonomy and preserve his moral worldview so. i think that probably indicates something good.

(188). i honestly don’t have a thesis i just find it incredibly interesting how the themes surrounding these two intersect and play off of each other. anyways looping back to 187 i do think in a broad sense jon killing helen is representative of him choosing to stick by his convictions and keep fighting. i don’t have any good way to end this but thanks for sticking around during my self indulgent rambling!

Random thought but legally blonde klapollo au??

OH that is actually a fantastic concept--I know I’ve seen a few narumitsu legally blonde aus, but I don’t think I’ve seen one with klapollo?? Which is weird, because it would actually work so well.

but like. ANYWAY. the way I think it would go would be something along the lines of:

-Klavier is Elle, and that’s only partly because of the hair! They’ve both got similar drive, determination, and...yeah, they both have very distinct senses of style.

-Apollo, then, gets to be the TA and junior partner in the law firm Klavier ends up interning at--this might involve having to adjust their ages a little so it makes more sense, but I don’t think that would change their dynamic very much

-And here’s where I’m changing the plot up a little bit to make the AU echo the existing character dynamics--the shitty teacher (Callahan? IDK how you spell his name) is Kristoph. Obviously he’s going to be shitty to Klavier in an entirely different way than happens in the movie; instead of that plot, he only accepted Klavier into his internship program because they’re related, and he thought it would be easier to manipulate him into going along with all his shady legal business if Klavier felt he owed Kristoph in some way. 

-Pause for Backstory here--Klavier’s decision to go to Harvard was entirely last-minute, as per the original movie plot. He’d been studying music and fashion, and had been dating Daryan up until he got broken up with unceremoniously in the middle of a restaurant. He’d gotten into law school for the sole purpose of winning Daryan back--but ended up deciding to stay on his own terms.

-the Good Professor gets to be Constance Courte, mainly because hey, that’s already basically a canon thing! 

-Apollo thinks Klavier’s entirely ridiculous when he first encounters him, after Klavier got kicked out of class for not being properly prepared. He’s impressed, of course, that Klavier managed to be at Harvard almost on a whim--but he’s skeptical of his common sense, at first.

-Side tangent--you know that one scene where Elle’s standing in line at the campus bookstore at midnight wearing a bright pink sexy bunny outfit and holding a macbook, and whatshisface (wow clearly this character left like. zero impression on me, what on earth was his name??) is in line behind her, and they just have this “Don’t even ask”/”Wasn’t gonna” exchange? I’m literally picturing that right now, but with Apollo and Klavier. ugh I wish I was better at drawing.

-I don’t think I have the brainpower rn to figure out who on earth would be involved with the big trial during the movie, but I really think that Wright and Edgeworth and Trucy etc all need to get worked in here somehow??

-I also can’t quite decide who takes the place of the New Fiancée Girl--like, I would say Ema might make sense purely from a “starts out hating Klavier but ends up befriending him” standpoint, but I also can’t do that to Ema. I can’t have her engaged to Daryan in this AU, even if the point is that she breaks it off at the end lmao

-but ANYWAY back to what we really care about here: the Klapollo Plot

-they’re all working on the Big Court Case, Kristoph calls Klavier into his office just as he’s leaving for the night, and reveals his plan to use forged evidence to win the case. And Klavier is horrified, does not react at all as Kristoph had hoped, and storms off--but when he tries to tell anyone about it, they don’t believe him--after all, Kristoph is a well-established attorney, isn’t he? He wouldn’t need to forge evidence--clearly Klavier must just be jealous of his brother’s success.

-Apollo, however, has started to genuinely like Klavier over the course of the year--and he knows that Klavier wouldn’t make something like this up. So he sides with Klavier, and helps him take over the case.

-Which Klavier wins, of course, due to his extensive knowledge of haircare--something that’s important in both fashion and music careers, honestly.

-...the thing with Legally Blonde, though, is that technically the main couple gets together offscreen?? Which makes it a pretty cool movie in that sense--but a little less good for a romantic AU. You’d have to write in some sort of scene post-trial where Klavier and Apollo reconvene, talk things out, and get their Emotions in order--but they would, and it would be lovely.

-and, of course, you’ve got the Big Graduation Speech--and the closed-caption ending summary: Apollo is planning on proposing to Klavier.....tonight.

Is that...too much? Too little? I love this concept and also I love figuring out how to fit existing character dynamics into AUs--it’s a bit like a puzzle, where you sometimes have to change things about both halves to make it work better. So here--some thoughts on how I think it would go down?

How important do you think religious imagery and themes will be in the future of HxH? I know you've pointed it out with Kurapika and mentioned some stuff in that last ask, but now I'm super curious. I might be misremembering, but wasn't the testing gate at the Zoldyck mansion also called "the gate to hell"?

I think religious imagery has always been important in HxH! There are a lot of things that are rooted in religious imagery, off the top of my head there’s Kurapika with a lot of his religious symbolism, there’s also Ging that encompasses buddhist philosophy, obviously Chrollo Lucilfer and his 12 apostles followers, Hisoka posing as the “Judas”, I think I read that Chimera Ant Arc’s story was based on something religious but I honestly can’t remember where I read this so take this with a grain of salt, there’s the whole Gon being reborn and saved by Alluka, Togashi also represented the Royal Guards on one of the volume covers using religious imagery (i can’t find the post i’m sorry!!) and the most important one to me so far is the entire Succession War arc that’s just religious symbolism galore, from Morena to Tserriednich to the general plot itself.

I promise I’ll make a post on this because I really really want to go over this, but I think religious imagery and themes are gonna be extra important this arc. I’m pretty sure the plot of succession war follows so closely St Brendan’s story that it’s possible to foreshadow the plot and outcome of the arc based solely on the religious imagery Togashi used. I don’t have the brainpower to go into detail rn, but if everything goes to plan, I should be able to finish writing it soon. But based on a few things, I think religious themes will help us predict the plot of succession war!! 

I think religious imagery and themes in HxH are meant to sort of highlight the narrative of the story : healing, second chances, growth, rebirth. I think Togashi is picking religious symbolism to sort of elevate those themes and emphasize them if that makes sense? Religious imagery is usually used in HxH as a way to highlight the positive message of the narrative. It’s sort of like a second layer to emphasize the message of the story to me. Idk if that makes a lot of sense HAHA but yeah that + it’s also there to sort of be a basis for the plot of the current arc. But once again, if my theory on Kurapika’s fate is right (i promise ill write the post cuz i probably dont make a lot of sense rn), then the symbolism would be here to highlight the narrative of rebirth.

As for the testing gates, yes!! The guide says the gates are also called “the Gates to Hades”, and in japanese, 黄泉への扉, “yomi he no tobira”, “the gate to Yomi”. In Japanese culture, from my quick wikipedia search, Yomi is the land of the dead. It’s not Heaven, it’s not Hell, it’s the Underworld. This is where the deads go, and unlike Hell, they aren’t punished for their past sins, they just.... keep on rotting there forever. It’s the place where you go after you die no matter your past actions. The deads keep on living a gloomy and sad existence forever. So it’s not really religious imagery, but sort of cultural imagery? Kind of like Tanabata! I think it was meant to highlight that the place Killua is going back to is a dark terrible place, where if he stays, he’ll live a meaningless, gloomy, empty and aimless life forever. This denomination is meant to enhance the idea that the Zoldyck Mansion is a terrible place where Killua would keep on rotting forever.

I’m not too knowledgeable on this since literally all I’m saying about Yomi comes from a 10min google search but it’s interesting to note that this idea of reunification is also present in Yomi’s lore, since in legend, the god Izanagi undertook a journey to Yomi in hopes of retrieving the goddess Izanami that was rotting there. So culturally speaking, when Togashi compares the Zoldyck Mansion to Yomi, he also redirects japanese readers to this lore and this idea of someone undertaking a journey to bring someone else back from there, just like what Gon is doing!

Also, I’m not good at Greek mythology at all, so this is also the result of my googling skills once again, but it’s worth mentioning that Yomi is oftentimes translated as Hades, and Viz used this translation.

So this also takes us to Greek mythology, where there’s also a similar story involving Hades and a journey to the underworld... Orpheus and Eurydice’s story. I’ll let you read on the details if you’re unfamiliar with it, but basically, Orpheus took at trip to the underworld to save his wife Eurydice. Anyone would’ve died doing so, but Orpheus is protected by the Gods and managed to make it through various life-threatening situations. So while Orpheus didn’t manage to save Eurydice, there are still some elements that are similar to Gon and Killua’s situation in their story. It’s also funny to note that the greek underworld is kept by a three headed dog, Cerberus, just like the Zoldyck Mansion is protected by Mike, a huge dog, and there are also 2 other dogs guarding the Mansion. (seen on chapter 323)

And I love that this is intertwined with the Tanabata legend as well, the reunification of lovers.

So I’d say when it comes to the testing gates, Togashi played with japanese lore and greek mythology to reinforce the idea of taking a journey to save someone and being reunited after a rough journey. He managed to weave together Greek lore with the notion of the Underworld and Orpheus & Eurydice’s story and Japanese lore with Izanagi’s journey to save Izanami from Yomi and finally Tanabata, the legend of two lovers reunited by birds (Canary :3) after being separated.

I got kind of carried away but I guess my point is that Togashi loves to play with cultural and religious references to bring a second layer and emphasize his narrative, which is something that I greatly admire!! 

Thank you so much for this ask I learned a lot about Japanese and Greek lore, so this was fun !! This was a bit messy so I’m thinking of maybe properly writing a post on the lores of the testing gates and how they intertwine because this is very interesting. I had no idea this was a thing until you sent me this ask and I had to look at Japanese scans!! So thank you!! I have a confession: I feel abnormal at times because I have wild kyo thoughts. In canon he's such a lovely fellow, a genuine good dude but my brain is like "what if you got turned into a demon and he just snaps, keeps you locked up in the house in chains". I'm like hello???? That you've been happily married to him for a few years but the worst happens and he can't handle putting you down, so he doesn't. Just keeps you. He attempts to go about things as if you're not a demon. I think it was senjuro that was actually the one to be rational enough to attempt to put me out of my misery. But you’re the first to mention Senjurou into the equation- I actually really love that idea of him ending your life and Kyojurou being appalled and furious when he gets back home. ooc; To fill you in, anonnie, this blog is for a group of roleplayers and is based on a large amount of VRchat LARP sessions, and is based upon that story. If you want to ask my muses more specific questions, you can, but this question is kinda broad and hard for me/them to answer. I can try, however.

In short for the current situation, “-{=“ is Locust, an important character in the RPs because of how close they are to all the other characters. They’re currently possessed by/being turned into a Partygoer, which I think if you’re keeping track of stuff in the blog community you might know about? But honestly, I’m too tired to explain so I’d recommend looking up “Partygoer backrooms” if you don't. It’s a really intricate RP that we moved to Tumblr partially just for the fuck of it cuz it’d be fun yaknow? I might try to get Damien’s whole story/arc out onto like a google doc or something at some point but right now I’ve gone just about 24 hours without sleep so I’m running on caffeine and caffeine only rn so I don’t have much brainpower.

1. if you can, take a shower. if you can’t, just wash your face (preferably with like. really cold water), and change every article of clothing you’re wearing (if you have the energy)

2. if you’re tired, set a timer for 20-40 minutes and take a nap. after that get up and do something !!! lying in bed for too long after a nap is the #1 thing that’ll pull you back into your funk again.

3. if you haven’t eaten/drunk water in a while, do it!! if you don’t have the motivation to make anything, things like granola bars and like. idk cereal do wonders

4. i know you like cleaning, so maybe organize something ? it might take your mind off whatever’s stressing you out

5. in that same vein try to do something that’ll make you happy !! dfsjksda my advice is honestly to get off the internet bc being on here when i feel gross is like. one of the best ways to make myself more stressed

6. lists make a list i love lists

7. try some of those grounding/breathing techniques i showed you earlier?? if you need more hmu but im on lunch break rn so responses might take a while

8. if you’re gonna be difficult and refuse to get off the internet (which, knowing you, you might be), find like. something positive to do/look at??
