20 Questions For Fic Writers
Tagged by my good friend @zeldaelmo. TY! You know I love to play these silly games 🤣 and yet, one more thing to help me procrastinate from working on my current WIP 😅
__
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
a measley 10
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
219,706 - hey that's not too shabby for only 10 works!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Legend of Zelda - BotW/TotK mostly, some SS, one OOT, and an upcoming mishmash of SS/WW
I previously wrote some HP stuff (before all the awfulness with JKR aka She Who Shall Now Not Be Named) One I posted on AO3 because it was the best one of those
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Love in the Age of Calamity
I Belong to You
Enjoy the Silence
Can't Do This Again
Looking Through the Eyes of a Killer - the HP one!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Most, yes. I want the readers to know how much I appreciate them and the time they took to leave me a message. There's actually one in my inbox I need to reply to!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I tend to wrap up my stories with a positive ending, but I suppose the angstiest ending goes to
Love in the Age of Calamity
There's no way it couldn't, although I personally love the ending (even thought it did make me cry when I wrote it) and hope to write a spin-off (maybe next year) about Aryll and the court poet, who I named Carik (but Link thought his name was Carrot)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
My Hylink story Adore I wrote for Zelink Week 2023. It's 5 chapters of angst and 2 of marital bliss (I do wish it had gotten a bit more traction on AO3. I was pretty proud of it when I wrote it) many thanks to my beta @fioreofthemarch!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet! I only have 14 dedicated readers and they're all so lovely, and leave positive comments. TYSM!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Um, not until recently 😂🤣 I wanted to try my hand at smut with I Belong to You (which was supposed to be a one-shot)
So it does have some smut in it, but honestly, it's story driven and the steamy scenes add to the story, characterizations, and motivation. I actually am very proud of this story and think it's the best thing I've written to date. And many thanks to my fantastic betas @hyylia and @zeldaelmo
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No. Although I do think you could easily write a cross-over with Legend of Zelda and Adventure Time.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No. My stuff isn't that good 😂
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I would like to with someone who is good at transitions, etc. Sometimes it will take me days to wrap up chapters because my mind goes completely blank when it comes time to write sequels to a scene 😭
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Zelink. It's the ship that brought me back to writing.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Well...my current WIP Captain Link Araki and the Harbinger of Destiny is giving me a WORLD of trouble, but I do love the character of Link I've created for it, so I'm going to try my hardest to complete it by the new year!
I have a HP WIP I started, and will probably never complete. It was an expansion of a short story I wrote called Aphrodite's Destiny (which I still absolutely love, even though the writing is probably not polished)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and characterization (at least, that is what I think my strengths are! My readers may disagree!)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptive writing (like the setting, lighting, what the characters are wearing, etc) that isn't boring or like reading a list! I worked on it in I Belong to You and hope I can continue to incorporate what I learned in my future stories.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Hmmm, I haven't thought much about that. I did include some song lyrics in I Belong to You that were in French and were supposed to represent the Rito language, but I included Zelda's thoughts about what those words meant.
I suppose if I were to write dialogue in another language, I would write the dialogue in italicized English but reference that they're actually speaking in another language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
HP
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
My favorite story is my current one - I Belong to You I'm not going to lie, I love my Link and Zelda in this story so much!
My second is my short story for HP - Aphrodite's Destiny
I think I'm supposed to tag some ppl?!! I tag @fioreofthemarch @cooking-with-hailstones @aurathian and @hyylia I know you all are busy and probably don't have the time! 😅

NaFM: Ch 9 (10?) and misc. thoughts
I don't count the prologue as the first chapter, so I guess it's chapter 9?
(This is a test post similar to those blogs. Simply curious to how it would work when I type my thoughts. Not bad so far lol)
Honestly, the chapter is going to be super long (40k+ words), and with that in mind, I'm sorta dreading how long the chapter covering the 5th yr will be. I feel sorta bad for the readers (srry, if u do read this lol), but I also don't care much cuz I'm sticking to the format of 1 chapter per school yr.
I've been fluctuating between working on Not a Future Missus and continuing planning this x-over fic I have posted (also on my AO3) for two diff. fandoms. Gosh, I also have so many other ideas for HP fics, including a Tom Riddle Sr-centric fic (one of those what-ifs in which Sr. raises pre-Voldy Tom) and a Drarry fic with the Veela!Draco trope (or a Veela!Draco fic with Drarry?), both of which I'm likely to type out; there's also a possible "spin-off" w/ NaFM, but employing time travel??? Idek anymore lol! But goodness the HP world has so much potential despite its numerous controversies (which I won't bring up cuz I'm not looking to start a war).
And sadly (maybe not for some ppl), no Dramione plans as of yet. Yes, I ship it as much as Drarry (don't hate on me now, or at least do it without a word cuz I'm a multi-shipper who refuses to fight over ships), though I haven't been reading much Dramione fics nowadays... or Drarry, since I fandom jump quite a bit.
Anyway, maybe I'll get rid of some scenes, or I'll keep it as it is (my fic, my management muhaha), but I maybe possibly probably perhaps should just make Harry and Ella/fem!Draco kiss each other and type the "23 yrs later" epilogue and be done with the fic LMAO! (April 1, 2024 plans???? If it's still incomplete by then???)
What hobbies do I even have at this point, besides reading/writing fanfics? The occasional doodle/drawing, certainly. And maintaining my Duolingo streak????
To whoever reads this honest-to-goodness sorta-long post, srry for the chaotic writing/typing! Just blurting this out before sleepy time LOL! (Sleep deprivation sure is making me taaalk and I'm probably gonna cringe the next time I see this if ever lmaoo)
Well, if anyone reading this post (and my fic) has proceeded this far, have a preview I may/may not include/edit for the next chapter!
“What’s the point of this task if we can’t even watch?” Ella grumbled as she glared at the lake. The waters were still as the second task progressed, with only an occasional ripple on the surface. The crowd chattered as they awaited the champions, but Ella was growing impatient. It had been months since the Yule Ball, and the Scottish Highlands were slowly readying for the coming spring. There was still a noticeable chill in the air, but that didn’t stop the continuation of the Triwizard Tournament. The second task had begun half an hour ago, and to say the least, the surface-dwelling spectators were growing bored. “If only they used Muggle filming methods,” Tracey said disappointedly from Ella’s right side. “They have these cameras, and you can connect them to these screens that project what’s happening through the lenses. It’s like our moving pictures, but everything happens in real time. I’ve been told about them sometimes.” “Somebody needs to invent a spell like that if they haven’t already,” Ella said. Casual conversations continued as time passed. At this point, everyone was preoccupied with each other, with only a few occasional glances towards the water. During the wait, Pansy ended up braiding Ella’s hair, before tying it and switching to Daphne. Why everyone had to get up at nine o’clock in the morning to stand in the cold and watch a lake was Ella’s main concern, but this was one of the more boring days compared to the last few years.

thoughts on dumbledore? Or the fantastic beasts premise in general
I'll be honest I saw the first Fantastic Beasts movie bc it seemed exciting and friends were there to see it with me, decided not to see the second I don't even know if JKR was out as a dangerous transphobe at the time I think it was because of Johnny Depp that I decided not to and promptly felt incredibly vindicated when everyone said it was terrible and character assassination from the first movie and not even worth torrent, and has there even been a third I genuinely have no idea bc these days I try to stay as far away from JKR properties again just bc, like. not interested in giving her money or contributing to conversations that will lead others to give her money. So "premise" is probably the best I can do for you.
Going on a tangent that I promise will make sense a paragraph down: I worked for nearly a decade during summers at gay theater camp AKA larp camp (the Wayfinder Experience) that is the best way to larp because games were one-time things with new entire world backgrounds and characters and game mechanics invented for each week of camp sets and costumes made anew each week by production that would culminate in said single 4-5 hour game that really and truly was like being in a novel where you were the main character, we were all living our best lives. One of these games was called The Golden Blade, written by my friend Jay Dragon who has gone on to become a genius indie ttrpg designer, bUT ANYWAYS. the concept of The Golden Blade was there was this tournament for adventuring parties of five-ish typical adventuring party members every year with a huge reward and said tournament had a lot of rules but mostly consisted of going around this big arena and fighting monsters and claiming flags, this also was Fantasy Sports like football but 1000x more popular for the fantasy continent we were on but decidedly a Sports Team Mood, campers were cast as members of these adventuring teams, the referees, and a bunch of rich spectators who had bought tickets to the tournament and also all had their own plotlines going. The game was set up as such: there were three rounds of the tournament where I guess flags and monsters were reset in between?, the first round went completely normal, the second round shit started to go down, and the third round was discarded because it had been revealed that there were a whole bunch of supernatural creatures/ gods who were all trying to control this sword that could cause the end of the universe and do a lot of other things, it was super dramatic, I played said universe's equivalent of the Archangel Michael and one of the kids was a Joan-of-Arc type prophet and I think I might have convinced them to end the world this was a long time ago. BUT ANYWAYS.
The Golden Blade was arguably the most popular game of that summer, it was a huge hit. And that's saying a lot, there were a bunch of really good games that summer.
The single criticism that was leveled against The Golden Blade by anyone ever, was that the tournament was really freaking cool and they really didn't need any other epic plotline and while what happened was great and everyone loved game, they would have been equally happy to have just...played the full tournament, no dramatic world-ending twists, just take what was a really cool setup for something really interesting in and of itself and play it straight.
Now you see where I'm going re Fantastic Beasts?
From what I remember of the first movie it was pretty good because it was mostly about running around after some crazy fantastic magical beasts, and the single criticism was "it really didn't have to be anything fancier than that, no need for a bigger plotline, honestly we would have been completely chill with almost a nature documentary about these beasts." From what I've heard about the second movie, they, like... go into the Wizarding War? and the plot is all about said Big Dramatic War? and, like.... where is the fun cute lighthearted we kind of were all just here for found family and adorable magical animals and zany adventures chasing them down and helping save them, we didn't sign up for Plot to happen, we didn't need Plot to happen at all, now that you're making Plot happen this isn't something that I want to be watching at all.
I feel like "thoughts on Dumbledore" is therefore going to be, like. Not something that I can answer at least in the context of Fantastic Beasts. given that I saw the first movie, once, when it first came out, and wasn't he in there and played by Jude Law or something for all of literally five minutes? in which case my thoughts on that Dumbledore is "Jude Law seems like a pretty cool actor." thoughts on Dumbledore generally as a character concept is that I do very much love the concept of "utterly and horrifyingly ice cold master manipulator leading the team of good guys that everyone thinks is a total sweetheart but in reality has been worn down so much by the horrors that they've seen that at this point they're completely and utterly down with sacrificing children for the greater good" and the philosophical concept of "okay you're one of the good guys, do you let this happen because you need this person to win the war, or is this unacceptable and how do you deal with/potentially react to the collateral damage of morals causing more horrific destruction than if you'd let the master manipulator stay leading." I have a variation on that trope in one of the many original works that I'm writing of considering time loops and a character group that is in theory trying to save the world from complete world-ending apocalypse but in practice after being through 300+ time loops have gotten incredibly cavalier about certain things because they're all just so fucking tired and have seen every single possible way for this to go wrong so by the time it comes to "yeah sure murder these 1000 children because they unfortunately stumbled upon information that if it makes its way back to this country in particular will lead to a weapon of mass destruction being deployed that cracks the entire planet like an egg, and we don't have enough resources to actually make sure all 1000 of these children never speak to anyone ever of what they saw because there are like five different apocalypses that we're trying to stop at once, so oops if we missed our window to stop them guess it's on the checklist to murder them all" and have done it so many times at that point that it doesn't even strike them as something to be upset about, it's just another box on the checklist. like. I call that group and especially their leaders a Dumbledore-type character and that is fascinating to me but at this point we're more into fandom and cultural impact of Dumbledore than Dumbledore himself, I don't know if I care enough about HP and its extended universe to have any further opinions about Dumbledore himself.
#writing#asks#sorry anon if this is super unsatisfying#I haven't thought about the HP world in years and probably will continue to not think about it for years after this#oh the leader of my time loopers is also gay#but I'm pretty sure literally everyone in that book is gay#I don't even remember if they confirm Dumbledore to be gay in FB#if so I wish him his best gay life#unless he has to date Johnny Depp#in which case rip I'm very sorry

About the JKR post: Seriously???? No Nuance November is over, OP.
I'm not a fan of HP (haven't read the books since I was 12, never watched a movie from that series) but if some kids are obsessed with it, let them pirate it! In doing so, JKR gets none of the profits and they get all the enjoyment. Pirating a movie isn't 'killing trans people'. Seriously. It's actually harming JKR since she loses a lot of money. People are not evil because they like a fandom. Tomorrow, if the author of your favorite fandom (I'm guessing Cassandra Clare from your username, I haven't looked at your blog tbh) turns out to be a transphobe (she probably isn't but just imagine) then would you be able to resist if the movie or show of your favorite series was being released soon? Especially after seeing the trailer? Would you not pirate it?
Yeah, seriously, I thought I was being clear! Hey anon, answer something for me: when did I ever mention kids in my post? Do you seriously think I'm accusing 8 year olds of being evil? Actually, do you think I'm accusing ANYONE of being evil? Because you can only put a certain amount of words in my mouth without looking stupid. I genuinely think the people who continue to support HP while knowing what it's doing to minorities are either ignorant, misguided, or bigoted themselves. Evilness is such a inhuman concept, and I'd only call bigots that (even though I didn't). I think people who want to pirate the movie or the books don't know enough to stop, which is why I was asking them to look inside themselves.
Pirating the movie doesn't make JK ‘lose' money. She can't lose money she never had, take that capitalist lie out of your head. You're really underestimating the power publicity has, aren't you? The point of my post is that, if you're aware of what Rowling is doing and still can't bring yourself to take your Hogwarts house out of your bio, for example, then you're valuing your entertainment more than trans people's lives. It's a small thing that, if enough people do it (or stop doing it), will take away part of the influence Rowling has. Repeat that again with fan merch, fanfic, fanart, and you take even more of it away.
KSJSJSKJS ARE YOU OPENLY ADMITING YOU HAVEN'T EVEN LOOKED AT MY BLOG 😭😭
First, I have it in pretty good authority that Clare is transphobic, or at least comically ignorant. You look through my anti CC tag if you want, but this is not what that is about. That is not the problem here. As far as I know, and please correct me if I'm wrong, she is not using her money and influence to support hate groups and speak in favor of bigoted laws; Rowling is. If it came out tomorrow that Clare is doing that, I would stop consuming her content in a heartbeat and would block anyone who refuses to. Because, guess what, human rights are more important than a stupid book or TV show! I can always find a better book to read, a better movie to watch, but bigotry permanently harms people in minority groups and no amount of content in the world is worth knowingly taking part in that. Do you disagree?
Anyway, if you stand so strongly on that hill, you could've bothered to show your face instead of cowardly sending an anon <3 Would love to chat more if you're here in good faith, if not, have fun being wrong.

You Were Always Mine (Part 8)
Summary: Karma Artemis Sauveterre finds herself moving from Wizarding Britain to Beacon Hills after tragedy strikes her family. Let's see how she fits into this completely new environment while dealing with heartache, losses and gains.
Warning: This series contains smut, angst and teenage pregnancy. I'll probably place another reminder if I don't forget. I'm very forgetful. Also it was written by me and my dominant language is not English, I think that can classify as a warning because a lot of people are very particular about grammar and spelling. Mistakes are my own and I apologize in advance.
Pairing: Stiles x Artemis (Female OC)
A/N: My OC comes from the Harry Potter Universe, but HP characters will not star in this story. Only the spells and potions. And the schools. No people. This is going to be based in Teen Wolf and will follow their storyline, but not always very accurately. I did my best. I have only written until Season 2. I haven't watched Season 3 and up. I will try to start watching again and see if I can continue the story because I do want to include Void Stiles in this story. Thank you.
This is the beginning of her life in Beacon Hills. The characters from Teen Wolf will start appearing from this chapter onwards.
"Muggle school, father? Are you serious?" Artemis asked astonished.
It's been two months since she arrived at the Sauveterre mansion in California. She received her results and got 7 Outstanding & 1 Exceeds Expectations.
Her father had her registered at Ilvermorny and she had to write placement tests for an entire week to see which curriculum suited her best.
On the 1st of September, she received her first 7th year assignment. She has been working diligently on every paper she received and she had gotten into a routine which worked well for her.
"Yes." her father said, confused at her reaction. "I thought you said that you'd rather go to Muggle school."
Artemis face palmed herself. "No, father. I was only joking." she said with a sigh. "Please, cancel my registration. father. I'm not going to muggle school."
Her father looked dejectedly at the gift box he got her. She opened it curiously and gaped unbecomingly at what she saw inside. Muggle stationary upon stationary filled the box which looked way bigger on the inside. She was sure that she wouldn't even get to use it all before finishing school. When she unpacked those, she came across a brand new leather book bag which looked very stylish yet preppy.
Then right at the bottom lay her uniforms. She unpacked it and counted 14 garment bags. When she unzipped it, she saw the exact same styled uniform in different colours.
"Wow" she breathed. She has been to the muggle world with Landon a few times so she knew that muggles didn't wear these types of uniforms to school but she loved it so much that she wouldn't mind wearing it. She knew she'd stand out and she loved that thought.
"These look amazing, father." she said in excitement. Her father chuckled and gave her a knowing look.
"Okay, okay. I'll go to muggle school. So long as you design me whichever dress I want next, father."
"With pleasure, daughter." he said and walked out to leave her to unpack her stuff.
Nicolas knew why he wanted her to go to Muggle school. She has been doing her work very diligently but since her two best friends are finally out into the real world, they won't have much time on their hands to spend with her. When weekends came, the only thing she could do was sit in the Manor or go out by herself - two things that Karma wasn't used to at all.
But since she refused to go to Ilvermorny, he had to get her into a Muggle school. This was the most crucial time to build friendships and connections. He knew she was being sarcastic when she mentioned Muggle school - but that was what gave him the idea. He knew he could bribe her with those beautiful school robes, it was too easy. He chuckled to himself as he walked away. He regrets nothing.
It was now the end of September and he's giving her a few months to settle in. He even got her some assignments to work on while she was at home, just so that she could get used to the pace of doing her Muggle homework as well as the magical equivalent.
He decided in a change of career as well. He had given up his post as head healer and applied at MACUSA as a spell researcher. He needed to do something different and felt that this new challenge kept him grounded.
This was gonna be one interesting year. So far he liked it. Even though they still missed Leto, at least now they were coping better.
It was finally January 10th, Artemis' first day of muggle school. And she was running late.
"I don't see why I cannot just apparate somewhere close to school so I can walk the rest of the way."
Nicolas sighed. "I'm sure that would go over well. You don't have an unregistered wand, Karma. You still have the trace on you since you are not of age yet. And if you haven't noticed, our manor is in a muggle neighborhood." her father said in a derisive voice.
She gasped and went to reply when they heard a car horn go off outside.
"It seems your chauffeur has arrived." he told his daughter before kissing her on the forehead and retreating to his study.
Artemis sighed and picked up her book bag then went to meet her chauffer. He was a young squib, probably in his mid 20's that her father hired to look after her when she's in the muggle neighborhood. He knew all about the Wizarding world and since he was jobless, he welcomed the job he knew he'd be paid handsomely for.
When Artemis stepped out, he was already outside with the back door open, waiting for her to step in.
"Good morning, lady Sauveterre" he greeted politely in his freshly pressed suit.
"Good morning to you too, sir." she replied demurely before getting in. He got into the driver's seat after closing her door.
"Just Alastor, my lady." he replied, looking at her in the rearview mirror.
"Of course. Then please, call me Artemis." she replied with a soft smile.
"I'd rather just call you by your title, my lady." he said hesitantly.
Artemis looked at him with wide eyes before nodding slowly, "Very well, Alastor." he nodded his head in satisfaction.
"Don't you think it would be out of place for me to show up at school with a chauffeur driving a grand car?" Artemis asked him after a few moments of silence.
He chuckle. "A bit, my lady. Normally the no-maj's just drive themselves to where they want to be." he replied, giving her a quick glance in the rearview mirror.
Artemis sighed. Great, she was gonna be the weird kid. Her uniform, she could take. Not the kid who needed a baby sitter because she couldn't drive.
They had finally arrived at the school and Alastor opened the door for her once again.
"Have a splendid day, my lady." he told her politely.
"Thank you, you as well. And please, don't be late." she told him before she joined the vice principal on the journey to her class.
"We don't get many students of your station at this school, miss Sauveterre." the vice principal told her as they walked towards the science class.
She smiled timidly. "I just needed a change of pace from boarding school after my mother passed away."
He nodded sympathetically. "Of course. That's completely understandable. Hopefully you enjoy it here." he said pleasantly just as they reached the classroom.
"Class. Here's another new student, Karma Sauveterre. She's quite far from home. So please, make her feel welcome." then he left again.
"Bonjour Belle." a very cute boy said flirtatiously, probably pressuming she's from France due to her surname.
"Please settle down, Jackson." Mr Harris replied to the boy, Jackson, but there was no heat behind it.
Artemis blushed a deep red. "Salut beau garçon" she replied with her pureblood demure facade firmly in place as she moved to take a seat. He just gave her a cheeky smile in return while the rest of the class snickers softly.
"Alright, settle down. So, for this lesson..." Mr Harris continued on with class as she took out her stationary and books. Hopefully, this experience won't be so bad. How hard could it be to make proper friends and stay ahead of class? She was a Ravenclaw, after all. And a very clever one at that.
The day went by in a blur. She had gotten compliments and a lot of flirtatious smiles. She understood, being the shiny new toy and all. They were quite surprised when they heard her cultured English accent and her mannerism seem out of place to them. She couldn't wait until the next new kid came along.
So far, she hasn't made any friends. Perhaps she came off as too cold towards these people since they are used to others who smile and speak freely. It will take a while for her to shed her habits of locking people out and she knew that she won't make any new friends until she does.
Soon, she was waiting outside for Alastor to pull up. "Belle" she heard from behind her and mentally rolled her eyes. "You need a ride home?" one of the lacrosse jocks asked right before Alastor pulled up.
"No thank you, my ride is here." she smiled tightly before turning back around.
Alastor came around and opened the back door just as her new peers stopped what they were doing to watch them.
"My lady." Alastor greeted and she thought she'd die of embarrassment, even though it didn't show on her face. "Alastor" she greeted before getting into the back of the car.
"Who does she think she is, the princess of England?" she heard someone ask snidely. When she turned around, she noticed the girl with the strawberry blonde hair, Lydia looking at her sharply. She sighed. If she didn't know better, she'd think that Lydia was an aristocrat as well from the way she carried herself.
Artemis had hoped to make friends with her since they seemed to have some things in common. 'Looks like that won't be happening', she thought as Alastor drove her home.
When she got home, immediately started on her homework. Hopefully it will get better soon.
