jason doesnāt feel guilty for the murders he committed!!! he canāt feel catholic guilt or want repentance or atonement for something he doesnāt feel guilt about! and there are dozens of religions we could explore jason in that would be so much more fun than catholicism or any type of christianity
#if catholic jason has no haters then im dead#i think everyone can have fun with characters and do what they want but christianity is my line#if a character has been cursed with it in Main timeline then rip them letās do our best#but jason wasnāt christian in any main timeline so! the only time jason todd is touching a cross is for the aesthetic#im going to hold everyoneās hands and look everyone in the eyes when i say this: there are other religions#jason IS a character whoād be interesting if made religious. but there is more than one religion in the world#christianity is so boring on jason. lets get creativity yeah#shoutout to the cool catholic priest flashpoint jason arts though#everybody else: letās get it together please. we can do better#not to mention that every christian jason thing i see is so exactly what helena has already done in canon that even i canāt defend anyone#from the āstealing canon helenaās character for fanon Jasonā allegations. and thatās my full time job im talking about#jason todd

what about five made him ur blorboā¦
Man, what made Five my guy.
Thereās the surface level stuff ā he hits a lot of tropes I love. Asshole with a heart, competent in everything but people, an assassin who gets cool fights to good music, teleports, last man in the world, has a fucked up wife situation. Heās a fifty-eight-year-old man who looks thirteen, that concept right there has so much to work through, all by itself.
All of that is really fun stuff, but under all of that, I think I can sum up why Five hit so hard with just that he has heart. The show could have gone the route of comic!Five ā unredeemable bastard of a tiny man. That would have been fun, I love comic!Five, but he works better on a comic book page, where things can be more 2D. The change the show made ā maybe on accident ā is that show!Five loves an incredible amount, and thatās what hooked me hard. Sure, some of this is fan interpretation, but I think itās got moments in-show to back it up. One of his first moves he made, when stuck in the apocalypse, was to make Delores ā he has her within a few days of landing there. She says so much about him the second we meet her in the show - shorthand to tell us just how bad the apocalypse was, and that, when faced with nothing, Five makes a person he has to take care of. With that, he survived four decades as the last person on earth in dystopian hell before he could get back to save the world ā so he says, at least, but he has always prioritized his siblings. They're his world. Heās not great at saying it, but heās a man of action and his actions speak very loudly.
With all that love, comes a lot of grief, which is actually what keeps me going with Five. Iām pretty open that Iāve had a lot of grief in my life. Iām doing better, itās been a number of years now, but grief doesnāt go away, and Five is an incredible vehicle for playing with and processing grief. Experiencing it, growing from it, moving on with life around it. And Five has so many layers of grief to play with. Thereās the grief for his family who he found dead when he was 13, grief for the world because it all ended, grief for the life he lost, grief for the life he had to live, grief for what heās had to do, grief for his body and his situation. How do you keep going and move on after experiencing such loss? I find it both cathartic and motivating to think about and sit in that space.
He's a walking tragedy and I adore him for it. Character of all time.
#another post that goes around says it well#in that the show does such a good job of letting five both be Cool (assassin! time traveler!) and just a weird old guy#they could have made him Cool to go with the assassin stuff but instead he wears stupid hats and wants to see big balls of twine#it's such a good character choice and humanizes him so much#a thing i love is just the force of *humanity*#which is why the wedding at the end of the world is one of my favorite things in s3 - it's just /such/ a human thing to do#have a wedding in the face of the end of everything. make up a wife and live best you can in the apocalypse.#the human spirit is indomitable and five carries that in spades#character of all time#tua#shark's tua thoughts#number 5#ask response

Ulysses obsession with the Courier is a special type of sad to me cause the Courierās part was so important but so unwitting. They had no idea what was in the package they delivered and neither did he. Neither had an idea of what it couldāve done and the Courier was only caring out their job (mind you the Courier could be killed via notes in the express contract if they donāt). To them it was just another regular delivery to the divide and one that they likely thought would help, just like all the ones before.
Itās so tragic for Ulysses to hold so much ire to the Courier when it really was the case of it couldāve been anyone. Anyone could have delivered that package but they did and so he focused the blame on them and it destroys what he is trying to instill in the courier on a fundamental level.
#like yeah the courier delivered the package but in the end thatās a job#any random courier couldāve delivered it especially since we know in the past the factions were farther apart and this travel was a smidge#safer but courier six got it and this Ulysses blamed them#like I donāt care much for Ulysses because I think lonesome road embodies donāt shoot the messenger at it core#and what people focus on doesnāt focus on the fact that in the bigger picture#everything went wrong because two factions were at war and at some point the codes would have been delivered#and the divide destroyed cause with how close it is to NCR territory it would of been found#like there is an inevitable and too many people treat Ulysses as if he knows more or is more aware of the idiosyncrasies of conflict#when heās like fundamentally flawed just at the standard of being a legion apologist STILL and just how focused he is on one persons#involvement cause yeah choices matter even the small one but I think Veronicaās quest says it best with a line from the courier#you canāt control what they do#like the courier couldnāt and canāt control what they deliver and yet itās got them in hot water multiple times#like do you think they enjoy being shot or knowing they are indirectly responsible for activating the annihilation of a community#to me itās hypocrisy to be willing to end the world or one world to prove a point and whatever argument made that only military factions#suffer forget there are innocent civilians suffering that had no part and Ulysses is no better than the Courier#I donāt like devils advocate and a lot of the dlc just feels like that but idk I know people love it but the depth is just not there for mr#ulysses fnv#fallout#fallout new vegas#courier six#the courier#lonesome road#the courier has very little personality outside what we give them but some lines and delivery paint a picture#like uhhhh undertale deltarune rules ig

do you ever think about how Ohkubo extremely casually dropped the fact that Spirit & Kami were teen parents & then proceeded to never expound upon that fact or bring it up ever again despite it explaining a whole lot about them & Maka
#I think a big part of why I'm so attached to/interested in spirit as a character is because he objectively has A LOT going on in his life.#but because he was created to fill that stock pervy comedic-relief anime side-character archetype we never get to see any of it examined.#or even brought up at all for the most part#like spirit apparently comes from a long line of death weapons who despite having been loyal to lord death for generations are never ever#mentioned & who spirit himself never mentions despite carrying on the family tradition (although he's not unique in that regard tbh)#at 12-13 years old he becomes stein's weapon partner & in his own words it became ā[spirit's] job to control [stein].ā#another kid with a laundry list of mental health & behavioral issues that spirit probably wasn't super prepared to help ācontrolā#(personally I think that this ājobā of spirit's was a duty he took upon himself rather than something lord death necessarily told him to do)#then just ~5 years later he 1) loses/rejects said weapon partner & probably best friend after some really major boundaries were crossed#2) becomes a husband & father at just 18#(& in his own words a broke 18 year old at that. another point towards him not being in contact with any family if they're even alive)#3) becomes technically one of the most important people in the world once he ascends to being a death weapon.#not necessarily in that exact order but certainly in quick succession.#& then we fast forward to canon & spirit's at best a guy who drinks way more than he probably should & at worst a functioning alcoholic#who's only A MONTH into being divorced for his habitual infidelity & is in the really weird position of being the primary caretaker of his#daughter who (rightfully) hates him despite him having zero custodial rights over her.#& imo he seems to have no friends in death city before stein & the other death scythes return despite generally being a people person.#like. spirit is kind of the epitome of should've been at the club lmao#soul eater#spirit albarn#kami albarn#meta (kind of. not really lol)

Ever done EQG Starlight Glimmer? It's lowkey a shame they never made one of her. Would love to see your take on her!
sorry it took so so long!!! lot of stuff was goin on - blugh none of it great but oh well, i actually really appreciate this because i wasnt all too happy with my starlight and wanted to redraw her so badly. she wears a business suit over top her stupid cropped polo. ALSO there is a cannon starlight which...... she does get a lot of hate but i do think she looks the best out of most of the eqg girls, its probably the fact she has pants, but its not. great. she goes through the portal theres no eqg starlight, much like in cannon in my hc there is no eqg starlight, shes dead.
#mlp#mlp eqg#starlight glimmer#salad says!#how did she die? trying to keep up with her best friend and his sister who were powerful with magic she tried casting a spell in order to#impress them and blew up. because magic is not as powerful in the eqg world#because of this incident celestia stepped in and talked to sunset and sunburst but ended up taking sunset under her wing#for a while she lived in the pony world before having a fight and returing to the eqg world#ive never exsplained that so i thought i would#sunset now an adult with no money has the pan around and try to find a job while working on her GED#then eventually shes able to reopen the portal into the pony world where she steals twilights crown to pawn off

Tevinter Nights: dramatic summaries
Back in March I decided to read a story from Tevinter Nights out loud to the DA FanFic server every Monday night. I figured with the number of stories, we'd hit August right as we finished - hopefully it'll be a big month for us fans!
I just love this anthology so much - there are many gems and entertaining bits among them, and they're criminally underrated. A lot of the DA side content is hit or miss for a lot of people, but seriously, some of these short stories could be published on their own without any knowledge of Thedas and still entertain!!
Here are the summaries I wrote ahead of each reading. :) All of the TN short stories are independent of each other, so take a look and perhaps you will find one you enjoy. I tried to keep them largely spoiler free :)
Also, check out @larkoneironaut 's Tevinter Nights art project! They're enjoyable in their own way :)
Three Trees to Midnight, by Patrick Weekes
After the Qunari take Ventus, prisoners are put to work chopping wood on the outskirts of Arlathan Forest. Myrion, a human mage, and Strife, a city elf who joined the Dalish, are shackled together at the ankle as a work pair. While their relationship starts antagonistic, they are quickly forced to work together to escape. This thrilling adventure is one of our first looks into the mysteries of Arlathan Forest, and the Antaamās advance southādespite the rifts forming in the Qunās ranks. Notably, Strife and his companion Irelin appear in another short story, Ruins of Reality, and Dragon Age: The Missing.
Down Among the Dead Men by Sylvia Feketekuty
We finally see Nevarra in this tale, and what better place to start than in the Grand Necropolis itself? Audric Felhausen, our POV character, is a city guard who is tasked with protecting a Mortalitasi mage during an investigation about some restless undead in the bowels of the Necropolis. We see how spirits and demons wander, and get stuck, in the bodies kept there -- and how possessing a body, even a long-dead one, can have significant effects on the spirit. On both a cultural and metaphysical level, this story gives us a TON of lore. And Audric, our hero, is equally curious and unsettled by what he learns. By the end you'll see why so many people are desperate for him to be a companion in DA4!
The Horror of Hormak by John Epler
Do you love Wardens? Do you miss the dark fantasy elements of Origins? Do you like the aesthetic of Dark Souls, with giant stone doors you push open with all your might to reveal a giant boss? That's the vibe that John Epler (DA4 Creative Director!) brings to this story. Wardens Ramesh and Lesha are tracking down a group of missing Wardens in Nevarra--a group, it turns out, that does not want to be found. For better or worse, Ramesh and Lesha plunge into the darkness and discover a horrifying truth with massive implications for the ancient history of Thedas... and the Evil Gods about to wake in DA4!
Callback by Lukas Kristjanson
Follow Sutherland and his crew of honorable adventurers back to where they began: Skyhold. Now defended and empty but for a handful of Chantry chosen caretakers, the fortress that once housed the Inquisition has gone dark, and Sutherland is tapped to investigate. We see Skyhold and by proxy the Inquisition itself from the perspective of one of the little guys, drawn to it because of ideals and encouraged to become their best selves. In doing so, we also see how the events of this world can shape Spirits in unexpected ways, with consequences for a world where the Veil is thin. Callback is full of callbacks and cameos from a surprising group from DAI, and an entertaining and perilous mini adventure in its own right. This is a love letter to Skyhold, to the Inquisition, and a meaningful counterpart to the memories of Skyhold kept in its frescos.
Luck in the Gardens by Sylvia Feketekuty
Hear a tale of glory and daring straight from a Lord of Fortune themself! A genderfluid, disguise-wearing, acrobat-turned-swashbuckler regales us with an adventure from the streets of Minrathous. Spy on secret meetings between Magisters, learn what the Venatori have been doing since Corypheus' defeat, and tremble in the face of things "past the Veil of our world," neither demon nor spirit. Who are the Lords of Fortune from Rivain? What lurks beneath Tevinter's streets? This may be the story that inspired many people's wishlist for the next Archon and the next Black Divine -- some beloved, familiar faces join our hero to face the terror in the gardens!
Content Warning: Body horror, Eldritch horror, mentions of Tevinter slavery
Hunger by Brianne Battye
Tevinter Nights returns to Warden business in Hunger -- or does it? Evka Ivo, a heroic warden, and her junior recruit Antoine, have to decide what counts as Warden business when there's not a Blight ongoing. As they make their way to Weisshaupt to answer their summons, they decide to make a small detour to help a village in need. Evka and Antoine are our beloved dwarf/elf romantics who feature in a DA Day short story - as well as in the DA4 lead-in comic, The Missing! Whether they may be companions or contacts to our protagonist remains to be seen, but surely they'll make an appearance after such tales of heroism and compassion!
Murder by Death Mages by Caitlin Sullivan Kelly
We return again to Nevarra from a different angle this time! An agent of the Inquisition, the multiplayer necromancer Sidony, is sent back to the home country she resents in pursuit of a killer. We learn not only about Sidony's past, but about the political landscape of Nevarra: do the Mortalitasi run the country as shadowy puppet masters? What do the common people, and the nobility, think of the death mages from the Necropolis? How are Mortalitasi trained? And what does necromancy look and feel like to the characters in Thedas? In this tale of alleyway chases and gossip-filled balls, we get another glimpse into a country we may very well visit in DA4!
The Streets of Minrathous by Brianne Battye
We return to Minrathous to learn what's become of the Venatori since Corypheus's defeat. Join Neve Gallus, special investigator (and important cameo in The Missing comic), as she navigates the alleyways of Tevinter's great city in search of a murderer. Through her eyes, we see how less-privileged mages are viewed, and how the law bends to the whims of the rich and magical in Tevinter. Neve is joined by Tevinter Templars in her investigation, and their final battle is certainly eye-opening for anyone interested in fighting mages... What lies beneath the Streets of Minrathous, if not the Cekorax? Well, you're about to find out.
The Wigmaker Job by Courtney Woods
Lucanis Dellamorte, Master Assassin (and rumored heir to the First Talon) of the Antivan Crows, prowls the secret passages and unsuspecting rooftops of Tevinter with his cousin Illario on a contract. The target? A member of the Venatori with a... peculiar hobby. From shady hotel rooms to a grand gala and fashion show, get a look at the best of the Crows doing what Crows do best. This is one of the best stories in Tevinter Nights by far.
Content Warnings: abuse of slaves, body horror, torture, gore, hair eating, lots of pretty gruesome (if cathartic) assasination, and possession
Genitivi Dies In The End by Lucas Kristjanson
The remnants of the Inquisition approach a new group of adventurers and task them with finding the secrets of Fen'Harel. The Antaam - or at least, part of it - give chase. And Genitivi Dies in the End.
Herold Had the Plan by Ryan Cormier
Our Lords of Fortune are on the run as a mission to steal an ancient amulet goes awry. They have the amulet, they have their daring escape (a Lord of Fortune knows no other kind, of course) -- but Herold had the plan for what to do with the damn thing, and Herold is gone. As Starkhaven guards give chase, only one Lord of Fortune will survive the night. But will he make it to the mysterious Squire who hired them in the first place? Join us for an adventure that will break your heart and keep you on the edge of your seat.
An Old Crow's Old Tricks by Arone Le Bray
Tevinter has sent their finest centuri to defend the shores of the Nocen Sea from potential Qunari invaders. They stake their claim on the area and set up camp, enjoying the esteem of being the proud defenders of Tevinter. But it's not the Qunari this group of soldiers should fear.
CW: blatant racism against dalish, off screen massacre of a Dalish clan, many gruesome cathartic assassinations described in some detail, hand trauma
Eight Little Talons by Courtney Woods
Antiva's crown is weak. Antiva has no army. And the Qun is at its doorstep. Antiva's Crows may be the country's only defense, but they must act fast. Caterina Dellamorte, the fearsome leader of the Crows, calls all Eight Talons to meet in secret and solitude to discuss and prepare for the threat at Antiva's borders. But perhaps they should begin by looking for threats at home. All Crows are assassins. But only one is a murderer.
Half Up Front by John Epler
A former altus who chose to be disowned into poverty to be with her elven lover takes the job of a lifetime: steal a precious, powerful, magical artifact from the Archon's Palace itself. It was never going to be easy, but the former Altus Vadis couldn't have predicted that a Minrathous heist would bring her all the way to a port in Rivain, loyal to the Qun. What at first glance seems like a classic cat burgling caper actually might tell us a lot about the forces at play in Thedasāhow perhaps the people on the ground may or may not be following orders.
Dread Wolf Take You by Trick Weekes
#dragon age#tevinter nights#do you have to read these for da4? no#but maybe don't say shit with your whole chest about the state of thedas in 9:52 if you haven't#until we get the game and you actually see#but also#like#for REAL#eight little talons should be its own agatha christie novel#it's so good#wigmaker job? there's nothing like it.#callback is PURE inquisitor/dai fanservice in the best way#hollix is my favorite person in the world#i cradle audric in my hands and want to swaddle him#i love evka and antoine's little Witcher 3 quest#these are stories written by people who love Genre and who love Other Video Games#and by writers who were having FUN and it shows#i am meh about a lot of the other novels and comics personally even the ones important for the other games#but i will rec TN as a Good Read no matter what

i'm saying it. i don't think joly would work in a hospital. i think his medical career would be informed by his politics + radicalisation and his + his friends regular drug use, he would be outraged at how the medical industry handles drug users, also at the medical industrial complex in general, so he would find a reputable community led harm reduction organisation to work for š«¶š»
#joly#it also works because the idea that modern les amis wouldn't all have a million jobs and volunteer roles in community organising#and you know... do direct community action to support people... instead of just little hypothetical meetings where they debate hypothetical#problems....#that idea is so bullshit and i know it's written by people who only have indoor people problems and don't realise most radicals actually do#things... but still it annoys me#and he would hate working in a hospital#not that the harm reduction work wouldn't be stressful and high intensity too but he would rather it for the love of community#also it wouldn't be hard because as a disabled person he would already be radicalised against doctors and medical industry in general#les amis#les mis#mine#i realise as a disabled drug using cane user i could#write joly really really well#the best joly scene is in world ain't ready where in one scene he's so excited for the battle of the bands dancing around yelling and stuff#then they pick him up and he's like 'tonight is a sitting night' URGH that's so real it almost made me cry#anyway joly feelings good morning

I've started playing Potion Permit, and so far it's one of my favorite games I've messed around with, but the most big brained move the devs made was giving you a dog on day 1, and then making that dog able to track NPCs and lead you directly to them no matter where they are in the town.
#im still early game but i like the play and the writing is passable#like#Theres a flatness#the characters Are distinct but theyre mostly just their jobs#with only a few who stand out and have like. something to really grab onto#Like rue? rues entire deal is little girl you can date. Nothing else behind those eyes. She has nothing better to talk to you about#than the fact her favorite color is red#Sorcelia? Sorcelia is a goth nun who loves singing and teaches one of the village children#Reynerd? sure is a guy#got nothing else to say about him. hes just a Guyā¢. Victor? Has ghost friends and loves bugs and cares deeply about the cemetery#he tends to. At the moment it feels like they're trying to imply there aren't actually ghosts. and hes just talking to himself/#insisting his imaginary friends are real people#and so far? The games been cool about it. Victor's a member of his community and his eccentricities are accepted and not ridiculed#all four characters ive mentioned are romance candidates. but its just as hit or miss with the regular towns folk#Opalheart is an older woman and a world renowned blacksmith who only takes jobs if they will do Good. regardless of whether or not they#pay well. She declines to make a dagger for a rich man but makes a helmet for a childs father bc the girl asked#and olive is here#anyways you can be best friends with a cat (shes just a regular cat) and i appreciate that#idk im putting it above sun haven in my ranking of life sim games#purely because there are older romance candidates.#no fat romance candidates. but sun haven doesn't have thise either.#and sdv has neither fat or old candidates Nor can you fuck a cat boy. it goes at the bottom.#gameplay wise sunhaven is at the bottom then sdv then potion permit at the top. sunhaven has the Mostā¢ but having#a lot of crap doesn't mean its fun and it ends up making half the game feel really incomplete#idk. Sdv is a game you should've started playing a year ago. sun haven is a game that perpetually needs another year worth of updates#before id say its worth it bc the devs keep pushing content ā¢ updates instead of quality of life or polish so what is there is uh#Bad. plentiful. and a large portion is good#but a Lot is just bad.#its insincere and cant take itself seriously it gives you (the right dialogue option) an (the shit joke option) which is worse than just#i ram out of space. tldr. potion permit is good Now. sdv Was good. sun haven Might be great Eventually

figured i'd do this again..bit early i guess..
#to cheer me up.. i feel bad atm.. these things don't even make me feel very good tho bc i'm such a narrative/sketch-based artist..#but Proper Beautiful Finished Pieces are what grab attention and look good at the end of the year all neatly lined up lol.....#so looking at a āyearly reviewā where i can only choose 'the best image of the month' (??) is like...What have i even been doing...#i did a month by month look back on twt for myself instead..but even that doesn't express the quantity of comic-based stuff..#that i do put a lot of time/heart into..but alas i feel bad bringing even them back..RTing/reblogging my own art simply feels bad lol..#AND WHY IS IT ALL B&W...trying to accept that i LIKE doing that and sketching and scribbling..not like i'm trying to like..Get Artist Job..#this year was so profoundly lonely at times bc i spent all my time drawing instead of socialising and trying to find friends....#please please please have achieved more of your dreams in the future so you can look back at 2023 and think..#It was good that happened so that it got me further to the future. Or whatever i guess.....................#regardless i did have a great amount of fun drawing and improving this year and dwelling deeply & heavily on witch hat atelier.#art-wise and emotionally....march july & september were the best months i think..AUGUST WAS SO WEIRD SUMMER IS SO EVIL ALWAYS.#thank you very much if you are reading this for enjoying & leaving nice tags & such like <3 i've realised how fulfilling that is to receive#really keeps me posting stuff here instead of keeping it all to myself in my head#i wish everyone in this world could have a safe and happy end of year. i wish living in this world were easier

Can you imagine how funny long-running feuds among the Idols must be across the ages, though. Every time the person youāre arguing with passes on into another body you just have to stand there tapping your foot impatiently and wait a couple of years for the last three thousand years of interpersonal slights and drama to load in for them so you finally can go āAND ANOTHER THING ā ā without being met only with a blank stare
#stray gods#the world building in this game is delightful honestly it makes for so many interesting possibilities#partially by being so willing to answer questions with '*shrug* no one fucking knows we're doing the best we can with the little we do know#and partially by having little things like this. how do you keep a fight going for thousands of years with these little breaks.#well they do. they sure do#gaider has done such a wonderful job with leaving space for weirdness and possibility here. no easy answers and I love it
