"it's always hating on rhaegar for rhaenys and aegon's deaths never tywin" because rhaegar was their father and had a responsibility towards them that tywin did not, stay in school
#personal#anti rhaegar targaryen#fandom critical#like one it's because tywin's blame is very uncontentious#it's just everyone and their mother going 'yeah he ordered it' and agreeing that he sucks for it#i have my thoughts on tywin's culpability (mostly that i do believe he didn't mention elia if only cuz she never crossed his mind)#(as he's a raging misogynist and i do believe that he was annoyed that lorch and clegane were as brutal with children)#(since it's not the best pr)#but it never extends to a lack of culpability on tywin's part#meanwhile rhaegar stans (why does he have them? who knows couldn't be me i'm normal) wanna pretend like this isn't his fault#when it IS#he was elia's HUSBAND! he was rhaenys and aegon's FATHER! it is his JOB to keep them safe during a war HE STARTED!#rhaegar had a responsibility to do whatever possible to ensure the safety of the children he chose to bring into the world and their mother#instead of going off to fuck a girl the same age as most high school freshmen!#rhaegar chose to abandon his family to the care of his violently crazy and racist father#who he knew was violently crazy and racist#unless he was dumb as rocks he was not unaware that no matter what this was not going to end well for elia and rhaenys and aegon#but he did it anyway and that does make him culpable for what happened to them#he had a responsibility to all of them ESPECIALLY his toddler and fucking baby and he FAILED that responsibility#and it is his fault that they were murdered#that is on him#it is not solely on him it is also on aerys for not letting them leave the city even once the cause was doomed#and it's on tywin for ordering their deaths and on lorch and clegance for doing the killings#but it is ALSO on rhaegar not just for creating that situation but abdicating his duties to his family to be a fuckass predator#this is like sixth grade reasoning honestly#i think some of you are just incredibly stupid

(Okay I've decided I know what's gonna happen with Dany in the end.... bare with me on this, and please keep in mind I’m a dumb bitch. Thank you.)
We were posed the question in 801 by Samwell: "You gave up your crown to save your people. Would she do the same?"
I believe we will get an answer to that question this season, and the answer is "Yes".
I think Dany will be put in a situation during her battle with Cersei where she has a choice: she can take the Iron Throne at the peril of her people, or destroy it and the Red Keep to save them all. And she will choose to destroy the Throne.
Destroying the Throne is symbolic because: 1. Her ancestor Aegon the Conqueror created the throne. 2. She always claimed she would "Break the Wheel". The Iron Throne is the wheel and it can never be broken unless she destroys it.
She will choose to basically abdicate the Throne and give up her dream for the betterment of society as a whole, and destroy the whole Red Keep. Which would be her ultimate sacrifice and act of selflessness.
Additionally: In episode 8x02 Podrick sings a song called "Jenny's Song". Jenny's song is about Jenny of Oldstone. Prince Duncan Targaryen, heir to the Iron Throne fell in love with her and married her against his father King Jaeherys wishes. His father demanded he divorce Jenny or lose the Throne, and Prince Duncan chose to abdicate the Throne for love. Because of this his nephew Mad King Aerys (Dany's father) became King.
Then later on, Rhaegar sings Jenny's Song at a feast that Lyanna attended. The song moves Lyanna to tears, this is believed to be the moment Rhaegar and Lyanna first connect. We know later on Rhaegar "kidnapped" (ran away) with Lyanna to marry her against his father Aerys' wishes. Rhaegar was not disinherited for this action like Duncan was but it did die for it... and he probably knew he would die as well, which is basically Rhaegar "abdicating the throne for love". So twice now a Targaryen prince and heir has abdicated the throne for love.
It's also relevant to note that Jenny of Oldstones "claimed descent from long-vanished kings of the First Men".... The First Men are the ancestors of the North. Who else descends from the First Men? Lyanna.
Jenny's Song was introduced in 8x02, the same episode where Jon tells Dany he is the Targaryen heir. But because Jon is still half Stark through Lyanna, that makes him a descendent of the First Men. And Dany would be the Targaryen Prince and Heir.
If Dany gives up the Iron Throne for the sake of Jon, she is following in Duncan and Rhaegar's footsteps. It's poetic.
(Anyways I’m probably wrong so y’all just ignore me thanks.)
