My Starlight will Guide Me Home🌠💫
Summary: "Marcus Acacius is know as many things, but if you were to ask the man himself I'm sure that he would want nothing but to be known as the father to his beloved daughter who was born out of the love between him and his precious starlight. Historians have often debated over the identity of the mysterious starlight. Edward Gibbon once famously claimed in his magnum opus that Acacius' starlight was a vagabond princess from one of the Eastern kingdoms, but there is no concrete evidence to back his claim."
- Dr. C.C. Philip. 'The Roman Conquest of Numidia'.
A/N: No warning as such (not beta read). I have no idea what I just wrote but it was fun to do so. I hope that you guys will enjoy it as well🥰

Letters of General Marcus Acacius
I just finished reading R. Dike's "Epistles from the Past", which is basically a collection of translations of personal letters from various individuals across civilizations; I kid you not I sobbed and swooned so ugly when I read the part featuring the letters of Marcus Acacius (a 3rd century CE Roman general) to his daughter which were written when he was out on a military campaign to Numidia.
The man is so Girl Dad coded. That one letter where he is worried about her favourite dolly getting misplaced, while he is out there pillaging entire cities and colonizing the eastern frontiers in the name of Rome
Edit 2: I thought the person he is referring to as "starlight" was his wife Lucilla. Is there any extra info on the General's starlight?
Edit 2: I found a copy of Professor Philip's book in the college library. Thanks for the recommendation!

Omg yesss! The letters are so sweet. We had it on our reading list (it was a different book tho!) this semester and I kid you not I giggled like a school girl in love while reading the General's letters. Poor guy was missing his kid so much, you can't help but feel for him haha

Did you know that his daughter was born from a slave from the Orient and not his lawful wife?
ptolemysiswife .5 days ago.
Ah yes! The famous starlight. The way he describes her in the letters is so endearing. The man is outright simping for his starlight haha. It's so romantic😩🤌🏻

It's so funny that a hardened war general was down bad for the mother of his child.

I think the OP will enjoy C.C. Philip's "The Dawn and Downfall of an Empire: A War General's Musings". It dives deep into the celebrated General's personal life, and even gives us some clues about his beloved starlight (I'm actively refraining from calling her a slave out of respect for the general who seemed to hate it when others referred to her and their daughter as such) which is backed by actual archaeological findings and not hearsay that other contemporary historians of the time would have us believe.

This sounds so interesting. I'm a sucker for feel good stories from the ancient world. Can anyone please upload some of his letters or few wholesome excerpts? I tried looking for the books that OP and u/BanksofVaranasi mentioned but they cost a really pretty penny in my country (damn you conversion rate!)😀 I really wanna know about this starlight person as well😆😅

You're in luck cause some museum (I forgot which) recently uploaded a bunch of N. Maurice's translations of the General's letters (along with some other excerpts related to his life and times) under the section which they titled "Star Guided Letters to Home" on their website. You can check it out, they've curated all the letters in a nice chronological order

omg the title!! I'm feeling violently sick ughhh! thanks a lot, I just found the museum's website and yes the section is curated so nicely. I think I'm in love with the web designer haha
Title: Star Guided Letters to Home: the letters of Marcus Acacius and other related documents from the 3rd century CE.
Translator: Dr. Nestor Maurice, MA, MPhil, PhD
Overview: The celebrated Roman general Marcus Acacius was once considered the darling of the Roman populi. Feared by the enemies of Rome, much of history knows him for his infamous exploits in the eastern frontiers of the Roman Empire, and for his brave defiance against the infamous co-emperors- Geta and Caracalla. The following letters were addressed by the general during his year long expedition to Numidia (in present day Algeria) to his only child and daughter Marcia (known fondly amongst the scholarly circles as "Marcia de la Stella"- Marcia of the Stars), and are a testament to a parent's love for their child, which transcends the temporal and spatial limitations imposed upon us by the natural flow of the Universe. Given the age of Marcia de la Stella at the time that these letters were penned, there is a high probability that they were read out to the child by her adopted mother Lucilla, the daughter of Emperor Marcus Aurelius and the legal wife of Marcus Acacius.

Document 1
"The general had a surprisingly soft corner for his "slave" daughter, who was also his only known and acknowledged progeny. He could often be seen holding the wee babe in his arms within the confines of his domus.
It is rumoured that he had her manumitted in the early hours of her birth, and that there was an undertone of fear amongst the General's personal physicians that the otherwise healthy infant would inherit some of her slave mother's more peculiar cognitive functioning.
Nevertheless, it was evident to much of the Roman public that the child had the General wrapped around her tiny little finger; and anyone who dared to call her a bastard or a child of a slave would have to face the wrath of the otherwise austere and good-natured General"
- Cassius Dio, contemporary Roman historian
Letter 1: A Father's Prayer
"Marcus Acacius to his Moonbeam greetings. My dear moonbeam, a few moments ago I received a correspondence from fair lady Lucilla. She seemed worried that you haven't been keeping well. Oh how I wish I could be there for you my little duckling. But alas, your failure of a father must fulfil his duty to Rome first.
May our household gods inflict all your pain and suffering onto me! Give my salutations to lady Lucilla, and to my starlight. As always, my days are filled with your worry, and my nights are spent praying for you. Farewell, my moonbeam, may the stars and starlight guide this letter home to you."
Document 2
"Lucilla to her Attia greetings. Dearest friend, I received your invitation. I would be more than delighted to attend the wedding of your daughter Julia. I still cannot fathom the fact that little Julia is now ready to manage her own household. It saddens me to think that soon enough my little Marcia too shall come of age and become someone's bride. The child is the light in my otherwise dreary existence. Blessed be her sweet mother who brought her into this world!
I fear that my lord Marcus Acacius will be the most agitated when such a time shall come. But above all, I fear for the sake of the man who will come and ask for Marcia's hand in marriage. Give my greetings to your Julia. You shall see me and little Marcia soon. Farewell, my dearest and most longed for friend."
- Lucilla, wife of Marcus Acacius in a letter to her friend Attia dated 215 CE
Letter 2: Birthday
"Marcus Acacius to his Moonbeam greetings. My sweetheart, may you be showered with all the blessings that the world has to offer. Every year, on the day of your birth, I've taken the liberty to spoil you to my heart's content. Dearest, my good wishes are always upon you, but what has a father to offer to his dearest child from a battlefield?
Moonbeam, since the day that you were born to me and my starlight as our daughter, I've considered myself the luckiest man in all of Rome; but now, here in Numidia, I've started to appreciate the fact that I'm a daughter's father even more. May you never have to step foot in a battlefield, and may your dreams be decorated with happiness. Farewell, my dearest star child, may the stars and starlight guide this letter home to you."
Document 3
"Once at a party hosted by Senator Thraex, Lord [name erased due to erosion] made the mistake of mocking Marcus Acacius' paramour whom he decried as a whorish slave from the east.
Acacius in all his fury beat the unfortunate fool in unmitigated rage, and warned the onlookers that he wouldn't hesitate to do the same to anyone who dared to humiliate the mother of his child.
It was reported that the two co-Emperors, who were present at the gathering, had a good laugh over the misery of the man who had been the target of the general's wrath, and even offered the general to execute the "bumbling fool" as a gift to the general"
-Anonymous writer, 5th century AD
Letter 3: Dolly
"Marcus Acacius to his Moonbeam greetings. My precious star child, who is dear to the sight, but dearer still when the sight is denied, I was informed of your melancholy by dearest Lady Lucilla! I know just how precious the dolly was to you. My starlight had made it for you when you were smaller than a fig in her womb. I too, cannot help but lament the loss of your dolly. I wish I could be there to assuage your grief and mine.
Moonbeam, I promise to help you look for your dolly once I'm back there with you. The very thought of seeing you again fills my heart with joy in these difficult times. You are always in my prayers my dearest. Farewell, my sweet, may the stars and starlight guide this letter home to you"
Document 4
"Lucilla to her husband Marcus Acacius greetings. Dearest confidant and husband , you've always been considerate of me and my feelings since the day the late Emperor Septimius Severus had us betrothed. You've been respectful of my feelings for him, and I've always admired you greatly for that. As such, I was elated when you found your love in the form of [name erased due to erosion]. She brought such joy and light to you; and even bore you the most precious of daughters! Little Marcia has helped me get over my grief for my own dear Lucius, and watching her grow swells my heart with happiness and a sense of pride.
But dearest of friends, I must confide in you that the sweet child has been asking some very curious questions about her own identity, some of which I find myself unable to answer. If you could, please help her quench her curiosity. I pray for the safe passage of your campaign. Farewell, my husband and dearest of confidants.
- Lucilla, in a letter to Marcus Acacius dated 216 CE
Letter 4: Starlight
"Marcus Acacius to his Moonbeam greetings. My little Marcia, your poor father is troubled! I don't know how to begin this letter. I can start by describing the auspicious moment when I met my starlight or maybe I should start by describing her. Your mother, my starlight, hailed from a land somewhere in the far East of Rome. Her people called her [name erased due to erosion] but she was known in Rome as Macrina, for she worked in the household of Macrinus. You may know him as the man with the colouring of dawn who once came over, accompanied by his two adopted daughters, to offer you sweets. But you are too young to remember all that.
My starlight would sometimes play the lute at parties organised by Macrinus. She was so good at playing her instrument that you could swear that she had been blessed by the very gods of music. My starlight had a penchant for singing in her native tongue, but she would only so in private, and oh! how blessed was I to have been privy to her mellifluous voice. She would then try to translate them for me using her adorably weak command over the language that you and I are now conversing in. I'll tell you more about my starlight when I get back home to you. For now, I'm writing down a line from a song which my starlight once sung for me.
There’s a desire, there’s a prayer
Both of them have touched the soul of love
Read it from the left or from the right
From the earth till the sky, only love is written
My little cup of honey, you remind me of my starlight so much! Farewell, my Moonbeam, may the stars and starlight guide this letter home to you"

Footnote: Hoii! I had so much fun writing this aiyaaaa! (totally not due on finishing my assignments and finishing my own reading list hahahah). I think the fic is pretty open ended (is it though?). I also chose the Orient cause it truly is a microcosm of the entire world (you get all shapes, colours and almost all race combinations)!! So the reader can customise the appearance of our dear starlight as per their likes and preferences. The orient part could also be my bias speaking cause I'm an aspiring historian whose field of interest lies in countries of the "Orient" (I'm also using the term Orient very veryyy loosely here). I took a lot of inspiration from various historical sources and epistles, so if you come across some of them then do tell!
Anyways, I hope that you guys will enjoy the fic as much as I did writing it huh (It's my first time writing one so I'm sorry if it comes across as cringe)!! Do tell if I should continue this and make it into a series hehe and sorry for any mistakes that I make in advance😽
Do like, repost and comment!! I love those hehe
That one line is from this song at the 2:35 minute mark

I haven't been able to fully read all of the Leia books, so I'm not really certain on some specific timelines, but while I don't remember her grandparents being mentioned, I'm pretty sure Breha's mother abdicated from the throne in favor of her daughter, which would imply that her parents at least were around even after she became the Queen.
Just fluffy morning thoughts, but I just really need the Organas and the Prestors to like Fox. I need them to adore their new son-in-law. I need them to take one look at him and immediately decide that he is part of their family, even before the marriage. I need them to call him son and try to make him have at least seconds on every meal. I need them to include him in every family activity and introduce him to new hobbies they can bond over. I need them to sit down with him and tell embarrassing stories of when Bail and Breha were kids. I need them to put the Mother and Father in the mother-in-law and father-in-law.
#same with bail's sisters ofc#I need them to call fox their brother too#I have good in-laws and my dad calls my wife his daughter as well and mom says my girls#I just want Fox to have that too#sw#tcw#bail/breha/fox#commander fox#bail organa#breha organa

Handle With Care - Aaron Hotchner x Reader
Summary: Reader and Aaron meet for the first time before she starts as a full-time nanny for Jack.
Notes: Hopefully will be at least 5 parts! I'm excited to be writing again :)
Word Count: 4.6K
I always believed in new beginnings, but as I stood on Aaron’s doorstep, rolling a suitcase in one hand and a Vera Bradley duffel bag in the other, I was tempted to question my resolute thinking. It had yet to fail me. Not when I was hardly eighteen and living on the other side of the country, vying for my spot at the esteemed culinary arts program. And not when I’m twenty-four with a stint as the private chef
Professional chef turned nanny–for my father’s beloved mentee, no less. My parents, ever supportive and ever loving, practically held an intervention when I showed up on their suburban door step a fractured shell of the bubbly daughter they dropped off at the airport.
Five years later, I’m sleeping in the same bed. I had nightmares about leaving once again. And yesterday I gave up that bed for a full-time position as Aaron Hotchner’s live-in nanny. Aaron, who I never even met, is my father’s protege. He knew him as a whip-smart, young lawyer from a family Law dynasty at Quantico. My father took him under his wing and even after his early retirement from the BAU they would get together for an annual work lunch.
I was nearly finished with my final year of the Los Angeles Culinary Arts Program when my fathers called to say that Aaron’s wife was murdered. I remembered thinking how lucky Dad was and how brave Daddy had to be. With one day off saving the world and the other left to hold down the fort with an awfully anxious only child daughter.
One year later, I was unemployed and completely blacklisted from the culinary entertainment industry for reasons beyond my control and without my fault. I gripped the suitcase, my chipped fingernails so jagged they punctured my skin.
Aaron had a nice house with a manicured front lawn, a big wrap around porch, and a fully furnished backyard. Clearly, he was a man with a lot of education and a lot of smarts to top it off. He worked hard. It showed, these neighborhoods of Arlington, Virginia weren’t cheap. No wonder my dads were dying to relocate to Georgia.
The door swung open before I could work up the courage to ring the bell or knock on the dark cherry wood. Aaron answered. He wore a dark green men’s quarter zip that was pushed up, showing off his forearms. His dark, charcoal gray watch shone as he let me into his foyer.
He had a foyer.
And a house that smelt like warm cinnamon and musk.
“Y/N,” Aaron said, nodding to me with a smile, “Please give me your bags. And we’ll go sit and chat before Jack comes. His grandma is still in town and brought him to the zoo.”
I complied. There wasn’t a need for me to protest. And clearly, by the looks of those forearms, he would have no problem handling my bags. I only brought a single suitcase, a duffel, and five boxes of books. Aaron’s mother-in-law, Lorriane, had been staying with them since Haley died a year and a half ago. But her husband broke his hip. Apparently, Aaron had added a mother-in-law suite for Lorriane and judging by the looks of his home, the suite I’d be living in for the foreseeable future was twice the size of my studio in LA.
“Thanks.” I said, grabbing a seat on the brown fabric sofa, “My dad said I had to say hello to you for him. He still raves about you. Like all the time.” I chuckle, watching as Aaron hands me a glass of iced tea.
“Marty’s a good man. He and Gideon built the Behavioral Analysis Unit. Our team is in constant debt to him.” Aaron spoke so formally, gesturing for enthusiasm with his hands.
“Yeah, well. He’s always just been dad to me.” I smiled, the man I knew showed up to my field hockey games even if it meant holding office hours there. He was the most there dad I could ask for– maybe it was neck in neck for the both of them.
“So Jack?” I said, breaking the silence. “How–how’s he been?” I couldn’t help but wonder. My dads had a close friend who helped them with their surrogacy journey, so while I didn’t have a mother in the traditional sense, the woman who I’ m half of was still alive and in my life. Debra was more like an aunt to me, fun and spirited and eternally youthful. But I still had her.
Unlike Jack, who’s Earthly ties to his mother were shredded in an horribly violent way.
My dad hardly ever cried, but when he called and told me that Aaron’s wife died I could hear it in his raw voice. Aaron’s a man cut from the same cloth a Dad; stoic and responsible. He was a wall of somber trepidation, but somewhere deep inside I could make out the man that wasn’t cataclysmically destroyed.
“Jack is…he’s a strong kid. I put him in therapy after it happened. He still goes once a week. Laura, she’s his therapist. She’s wonderful. Truly has helped Jack work through all this.”
“That’s good. That’s really good, Mr. Hotchner. It seems as though Jack has a solid foundation here.” I say, unsure what to say exactly. I can make an omelet six different ways, yet it’s lost on me to know what to say to a widower with a little boy. If I had to bear even a fraction of their grief, I’m sure it would break me. I would crumble. But these two boys? They’re a good man in the storm. And I know in my bones, it’s entirely Aaron’s doing. If that man is anything, he’s steady.
“It’s Aaron. Please, Mr. Hotchner reminds me of my father.” He cringes, the lines on his eyes creasing, “Your dad said you’re a professionally trained chef? Unfortunately, Jack’s still squarely in the dinosaur shaped chicken nugget and baked tater tots phase. It’s been a struggle to get him to try anything new…for…for awhile now, if I’m being honest.”
I nod, thinking that Jack’s food discouragement might stem from losing his mom. “Well, the way I see it, Jack lost his mom at how old? Four and half? That’s when we’re starting to really know what we like and don’t like to eat. His life was turned upside down and shaken all around when you lost her. So maybe he needed some consistency in a world of chaos. Not that your home is chaotic, it’s lovely and clean and happy. It’s just…loss…”
“Losing your mother as a toddler really fucks up your life.” Aaron says. He speaks so definitely, as if he means everything so ardently you could cast it into stone.
“Yeah.” I add, somberly. “But I think we can get him to branch out. Make it a game. I’d love to cook with him. I can get him kid-safe tools so he can be involved in food preparation and cooking. Oh! Maybe Jack and I can have a garden. I’m sure that will get him eating vegetables and fruits.”
Aaron’s neutral expression slowly transitions to a soft smile. He thumps his fingers on the wooden table, as he looks out through the deck. I could feel him glance back at me and then to the yard again.
“I think that a garden would be lovely over on the side. It’s far enough away from the pool and patio.” Aaron offers, sipping his tea. It’s sweet tea, too sweet for me. Working in kitchens throughout my program has trained me to not only tolerate black coffee, but to actively seek it out. He smiles, his grin defining his face. “Good idea.”
I feel heat at his praise. I like doing well, who doesn't? But after a series of mishaps and bad luck, an 'atta' girl is my Hail Mary of the month. I simply nod. “Simple things to start so he can see some quick results. I’ll get him super involved in it. Make him feel like he’s a part of a team.”
“I work a lot. My team flies across the nation, as you know. It takes me away from here for days on end. It was getting too much for Lorriane. And how her husband broke his hip.” Aaron shakes his head, “Honestly, you couldn’t have shown up here at a better time.”
He runs his pointer finger over the water rung pooled on the coasters. “Jack’s a very easy kid. Reasonable. But shy. He was shy even before Haley…even before last year. I’ve brought him to the pediatrician because he stopped talking for a while, but she said that we’ve all survived an immense trauma and our brains simply process and live through that trauma differently.”
Sitting there, I couldn’t help but think how lucky this little boy is. His dad was running up the hill; pushing that boulder up and up and up for an eternity. It must be an awfully lot to carry, without anyone to share the load.
“Yeah. I’m sure it is? Is he going into Kindergarten after the summer?” I ask, wondering if Jack went to Kindergarten on time or if Aaron and his grandma kept him home when they lost Haley.
“Lori, Haley’s mother, taught preschool for thirty-five years. She told me to keep him home for a year, let him be a little bit older and get the help he needs to heal and then send him. So I listened. I think that was one of the only decisions I made as a team this year.”
Sympathy must have colored my face because Aaron’s demeanor shifted quickly. He sat up, sipping his iced tea and wiping his hands on his jeans. “So basically your weekdays are around 8am-7:30pm. And occasionally on the weekends when the team does have to be on location But recently, I’ve been trying to transition to a more leadership position at headquarters. Hopefully, that’ll mean less traveling.”
I quickly journaled the hours down in my notebook. Live-in nannying hours are not for those looking for a job to allow them the life of leisure. Naturally that couldn’t possibly be true for a position whose main coworker is a five and a half year old boy.
“Alright. So that’s summer hours. We’ll need to brainstorm lots of stuff to do all day. Maybe the library?” I write a small note to get ideas and have them approved by Aaron.
He nodded, “Yes, summer hours are a lot, but Jack will be going to a couple camps that his therapist recommended. So you can get a couple hours each day to yourself. I am ready to compensate accordingly. Between my new role at the BAU and other personal investments, we live comfortably. How’s $2,500 to start and then we’ll discuss a raise in the future. And naturally your room and anything you may want to eat or have will be covered by me.” Aaron says it again in a way that leaves no room for argument. He must’ve been a great lawyer; no wonder dad adores him.
“That’s quite a lot of money.” I’m shocked and my face does a horrible job of hiding it. “I’m not a professional nanny. I’m good with kids. Really good. But I don’t do this for a living. This is you doing me a favor because if it wasn’t for you, I’d be a waitress at my dads’ country clubs” I cringed, my mind instantly filtering in an image of me serving one-time sorority sisters bottomless mimosas for an Easter Brunch.
“I apologize if you though that it was up for discussion, Y/N. Your first month’s pay will be $2,500 each week. And then it will increase to $3,250 each week. If I’m asking you to work 13 hour days plus one weekend a month? I better be paying you that much. And you’re still on Marty’s health insurance?”
I rolled my eyes, of course dad mentioned that to Aaron and of course Aaron double checked. Aaron just might have Marty, JD beat when it comes to thoroughness. “Yeah, till I’m 26. And that’s like…a year and change away.” I say, implying that it’s not up to me, or Aaron even, to know how long I’ll be with him. I wasn’t sure if I would ever venture out to LA again; not after what happened that sent me back here for good.
But the thing about food is that everyone wants good food, no matter where they live. And right now, the ones that wanted something good in their lives, lived in a lovely Colonial home on Moss Avenue.
“I guess there’s no arguing with you, prosecutor.” I say, my voice increasing just so that it balances the line between teasing and something else…something else I should be too ashamed to admit.
It elicited a smile from him and all of the sudden it was completely worth it. Aaron finishes his tea, and places it into the sink after dumping the remaining ice chips down the drain.
“Non-negotiable. It’s in your contract. Along with a health insurance package should you need to go off Marty’s name. Plus all that tax information that I’ll get you someone to walk you through it.” Aaron explained.
“Thank you.” I replied, grateful that it was both all above the table and that I would be given the resources to help me figure it out. Looking at the pile of paperwork in my lap, I was sure that if Aaron didn’t offer legal literacy assistance I would be way in over my head. “That’s wonderful. Really.”
“I just…I just want my son to be a good kid with a good childhood. That’s all. I want to be there for him and if I’m not there, I want the next best thing there. You know?” Aaron said and I’m not sure if it’s a plea or statement. Or if it was stuck somewhere in the middle; lost at sea like Aaron was himself. An island unto himself, drifting as the tide rolled in.
I break the silence. “What was Haley’s favorite meal?”
Aaron smiled. His eyes, crinkling again. “She had chicken piccata on our first date. And we ate it at our wedding. And when she found out she was pregnant with Jack she made it for me.” I nodded, understanding the important link between food and memories.
“Let’s make it. For Jack and you and Lorianne to share tonight before she leaves. It’s going to be a big transition for him to go from having grandma all the time to me, someone very new.” I expressed, hoping that I didn’t sound bossy or as if I wanted to parent Jack myself.
“That’s a lovely idea, Y/N.” Aaron sighed. “But I never was much of a chef. I wouldn’t know the first place to start.”
He leaned his hands against the table, a slight smile breaking the formidable since that had fallen between us in the moments before. I smiled back, standing from the table to reach my tote bag.
I pulled out an apron, the kind that criss crossed over my back. It was denim blue with a canvas front and large pockets.
“Move over,” I said, tying my apron, “It might be your kitchen, Aaron, but for tonight you’re kicked out”
The chicken ended up being more chicken piccata adjacent than a true representation of the dish. I mixed a seasoned blend of flour and spices for the dredging. Then, butterflied and pounded the chicken breasts into thin pieces.
Aaron’s kitchen was spacious and airy. There was a large island with barstools on one side and lots of pantry and cupboard space on the other. I stood at the island, dredging the chicken in seasoned flour before placing it nearly on paper towel lined trays. The chicken, thinned and butterflied, didn’t take long to cook in the oil and butter.
I let the skillet heat up till the oil, butter, garlic, and capers produced a mouthwatering aroma. Aaron gave me a bottle of white wine, imperative to make the sauce taste even better. I added freshly squeezed lemon juice and lemon slices to the pan sauce, letting the brown bits cook a little bit more. I scraped the edges of the skillet, incorporating the sauce even more.
I placed the chicken back into the pan, letting it absorb the lemony, garlicky flavor of the sauce. The sauce thickened, forming something that was similar enough to chicken piccata. I added a bit more butter to the pan, along with some lemon. I figured that it would stretch a little bit more for some sauce for the pasta on the side.
The chicken was simmering in the pan and the pasta water nearly boiling, when Jack came home. He looked like his father, but must have gotten his lighter colored hair and eyes from his mother.
Aaron walked into the kitchen with Jack, his hands resting on Jack’s shoulders protectively. Jack’s shy demeanor was evident as he peered over at me. I smiled and waved as I finished the pasta.
“Jackie, this is Ms. Y/N.” Aaron introduced me to the young boy, who stood shyly by his father. “We talked about how Grandma Lorraine needs to go back home. And we’re gonna have a friend come and live here.”
Jack nodded, his little mind clearly spinning and spinning to make sense of all this. He was clearly well adjusted, even for losing his mother at such a young age.
“Hey, there Jack!” I smiled. “I made a good dinner for you and your dad. I heard you went to the zoo with Grandma. I love the zoo. Especially the tigers.”
Jack nodded, eagerly walking around the kitchen island to talk about the zoo. “Yeah,” he said, “I liked the monkeys. They were funny. The babies were learning to climb and jump.”
I nodded, plating up some food for Jack. “Super cool. They’re kinda like little people. The way they act and play.” I placed the plate on the counter. “I used the Cars plate. It was way too cool not to.” I crouched down and whispered to Jack, “Just make sure your dad doesn’t swipe it. Between you and me I can see him eying it from here.”
Aaron chuckled, reaching high to grab not one, but two plates. He handed one to me before telling Jack to go sit for dinner. “You’re joining us. It’ll be good for us to get to know one another.”
“I don’t want to intrude.”
“Nothing you do would be an intrusion. And it’s good for Jack to see that we’re friends. He’ll be more trusting of you.”
I nodded, understanding that it was very important for Jack to become used to me. Especially considering Aaron’s job could take him away for days at a time.
“Alright.”
Aaron nodded. “Sit. I’ll get your plate.”
There was an understanding that washed over me. An understanding that Aaron was the kind of man that didn’t ask for things. He was simply used to things he wanted being carried out. I envied that security. Maybe if I had even an ounce of it I would still be hacking it out in LA. Or maybe I wouldn’t have needed to figure it out because I would’ve figured it out already.
Jack and Aaron went back and forth, swapping facts about dinosaurs. Jack was squarely in the dinosaur phase. Five minutes in, and I already had promised to help him find a dinosaur coloring book, with dinosaurs besides just the “cool ones”.
“Uncle Spencer says that some dinosaurs had heads as big as a car!” Jack said, practically shrieking with excitement as he recounted all the facts a certain Uncle Spencer had told him.
“Uncle Spencer’s so smart. And he’s a kid!” Several of Jack’s stories started with the aforementioned Uncle Spencer and I couldn’t help but wonder where the connection lay. Especially if, like Jack claimed, Spencer was a child. Sometimes some cousins are so far apart in age they’re more like an aunt or an uncle. Perhaps this was the case.
“Spencer is on my team.” My face must have shown my confusion. I always wore my emotions and thoughts on my sleeves, something that failed me several times over. Most notably when my friends in LA would get hit on by men at bars in the most vile of ways. One of the blessings of being deemed unapproachable by men was being left alone, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t burdened by their lack of tact in seducing women. “And he’s 28…yes about 28 now, and has been on the team since he was 23. He’s brilliant. Jason Gideon, who worked with Martin, scouted him when he was hardly 21. His mind works in ways that are simply unexplainable.”
“Which means he must have some pretty sick dino facts?” I ask, my question causing a prickly smile to appear on Aaron’s face. Jack giggles, he must enjoy seeing his father smile. It seems that even though the boys find themselves moving alone, smiles are few and far between. Especially from the elder Hotchner.
“And three phDs.” Aaron cut the rest of Jack’s chicken, sliding his plate over and reminding him to at least try the vegetables. “It’s like these kids are getting younger as fast as they are getting smarter. Sometimes I just look at Spencer and my knees hurt. Then again, I’m pretty sure I would beat him in anything athletic. Even though he’s much younger.”
I raised my brow instinctively, smiling. “Was that a joke?” I deadpanned. “My dad said you made two jokes the entire time he knew you. And the first was…”
I stopped myself short. But it was far too late. Aaron, like myself and my father, knew when the first joke he made to my father was. His wedding day. My father had long retired, and moved his mind and soul far, far away from the BAU. He trusted Aaron and Gideon to handle it. Instead he decided to live as himself, freely with his husband and their daughter in the suburbs.
If there was one thing that I shouldn’t have done the first night working with a nanny family consisting of a widower and his son, it was to bring up the marriage of the widower.
When Aaron married his late wife, Haley. My fathers attended, but I didn’t even remember. It must’ve been one of those times that Nana would sleepover. I remembered it was painting nails, ordering Chinese, and watching Walker, Texas Ranger and Family Feud. I remembered it as falling asleep to my Nana’s snoring as Home Shopping Club glowed on her ancient TV set and waking up to her chocolate chip pancakes. My father remembers it was the first time his young protege made a joke. And Aaron remembers it was the day he married the love of his life.
“Daddy?” Jack said, cutting through the silence, “I don’t like veggies. They’re too mushy.”
“Don’t eat them, bud.” Aaron, murmured, his voice laced with a guard that I hadn’t noticed till now. It was careful, like he crafted each tone and cadence before he spoke. “We’ll figure it out, Jack. Come on, let’s show Ms. Y/N her room. Where she’ll be staying.”
Each sentence is clipped and calculated. I nod, smiling as Jack stands next to his father.
“I’ll clean up.”
Aaron nodded, thanking me as he took Jack up to get ready for bed. Minutes later, the kitchen was back to normal and a couple extra meals were packed away for leftovers. I left a note on the counter for Aaron in the morning.
Lunch is in the fridge.
I always like to make extras!
Have a nice day
Y/N
Aaron returned, without Jack. “You didn’t have to do the whole kitchen. I don’t expect that. This isn’t a housekeeping job, it’s taking care of Jack.”
“I don’t mind. Being a chef…or I was a chef, as much as a pain in the ass cleaning and dishes can be sometimes it’s a good way to finish it all. I don’t know…I don’t make sense.” I chuckled, trailing off in a rambly way that fully gave away my nerves. My previous blunder had shaken me, especially since Aaron seemed completely unnerved, even though I knew it stung.
“I suppose, sometimes I used to stay late to do all the paperwork, even though the interns usually will do it for us.” Aaron wipped his hands on his pants.“Anyway, let me show you to the room. I had it cleaned over the weekend and put Lorianne up at a hotel for a couple nights so there wouldn’t be any issues or crossover.”
Aaron led me through the rest of the house. It was neat and tidy and I didn’t expect anything else from someone like Aaron, even though he does have a young, energetic son. There was just something meticulous about him. Something so put together and careful. And then there was me. Messy and complicated and unsure and terrified. Anyone would be that after having the carpet pulled out from under them. And I couldn’t name a bigger carpet than having to bury your life.
There was a locked door that led to what Aaron explained as my private area. “Jack and I won’t come over here. From the time that I get home in the evenings, or frankly, some days, till I leave in the mornings is your own. This is your spot in the house, but my housekeepers that come twice a month will clean in here, if you’d like.”
I nodded, grateful for that added bonus. The small attachment was the size of a studio apartment. There was a kitchenette with a nook tucked into the corner with the windows. The furniture matched the rest of the house, clearly Aaron had spared no expense to add this attachment. The queen sized bed was pushed up against the wall and nestled into the corner. Next to it was a nightstand with a lamp. And, as I turned the corner, was the crowning jewel.
“Are those built–ins?” I asked, staring in disbelief. “Those are so gorgeous. I have like, easy, a ton, of books. God! Can I use them?” I turned, practically jumping from joy as Aaron chuckled reluctantly.
“Of course. This room’s yours.” Aaron must’ve carried my bags into the bedroom while I was cooking because all of my belongings sat on the floor near the set of love seats and armchair. “I’ll leave you to get settled. 8:30 okay for tomorrow?”
I nodded, stunned beyond belief as I opened my boxes of books. Aaron handed me a set of keys, one to the house, the shed, and the other to my area of the house.
“You’re the only one that has a copy. If you want others made, I’ll cover the expense.” Aaron explained. “Have a good night, Y/N.”
“Good night,” I replied, hooking the keys onto my set. “And thank you for this room. It’s nicer than my apartment in LA.”
Aaron leaned against the doorframe, “Of course, I think Jack'll be very happy. It’s been hard to trust others. With him, honestly…Jack’s all I got left.” I had known Aaron for about three hours, heard stories of his skill and professionalism and talent for years, but he wasn’t someone that I had known, let alone even met. But in those three hours, I could count several times where I saw a sliver of emotions.
“I’ll leave you to it.”
“Night.”
“And Y/N?” Aaron said, stopping me as I reach down to start shelving books, “Food does hold memories. You’re right. I needed it. We did. Jack and I. He needs to remember her.”
“Food has memories.” I said, shrugging, “You’re gonna have to learn I know more than you think I do.”

~Two and a half years ago~
The barbeque get-together that Howard and Maria was throwing was in full swing, Y/n and Bucky along with Steve and Sam was sitting at a wooden bench laughing at something that Tony had shouted to Morgan – his daughter.
Y/n sat there with Bucky’s arm around her shoulders listening to whatever he was talking about with the boys, every now and again he would press a kiss to her temple. Her eyes drifted over to where her dad and George was manning the grill, chuckling softly as George pulls Howard closer and all but force him to dance along with the music that was playing through the speakers. Every time her eyes caught her mommas and Winnie’s both women smiled brightly and turned to each other to whispering to each other.
“Son, come here” George shouted.
“Be back in a second pretty girl” Bucky told her, getting up and walking over to his dad and Howard. Maria and Winnie soon following, as well as Sam and Steve. Then Tony and Pepper – his wife. Then Rebecca – Bucky’s sister – joined them.
Furrowing her eyebrows in confusion she went to get up but Morgan came bouncing over to her “Auntie Y/n do you like my wings?”
“I do sweetie”
“Do you want some?”
“I do”
“I can ask uncle Bucky to get you some”
Chuckling at the four year old she nodded “I would appreciate it if you did”
“Then we can match all the time and be fairies”
“That would be amazing-“
“Morg come here darling” Pepper called for her daughter.
Morgan turned to face her mom and confused Y/n even more by asking “Did I do good mommy?”
“You did sweetheart” Pepper replied, smiling at Y/n.
Everyone moved closer together as Bucky moved towards Y/n, smiling softly he took her hand in his.
“Y/n I love you more than anything in this world. You are my light, my happiness, my sweet Bunny. I am forever grateful for meeting you that day in the woods, because if I didn’t I would have never known the true meaning of love. Bunny will you do me the honours of being my wife?” Getting down on one knee he holds out a box, inside a gorgeous diamond ring.
“Yes” she whispered, tears threatening to spill over. “Yes I’ll marry you Ducky!”
Jumping up her picks her up and spins her around, placing kisses all over her face and finally her lips.
Everyone erupted in cheers. Congratulating the couple on their engagement. The moms had the audacity to act as if they hadn’t seen the ring before, the dads wiped their tears before anyone could see them.
I love you Bunny”
“I love you Ducky”
It had been two and a half years since they were engaged, there was a few setbacks that made them not rushing into marrying.
First setback was their new home, both sets of parents paid for it as an early wedding gift, it was a beautiful house she had to admit but for Y/n it was way too big just for the two of them. A large gorgeous kitchen, two living rooms, two offices – one going to be turned into a library. Six bedrooms. Yes six. Three and a half bathrooms.
Gorgeous but way too big.
Not wanting to upset anyone or seem ungrateful she placed a huge smile on her face as she hugged her parents and surrogate parents turned in-laws. Moving in and redecorating took longer than planned.
The second setback was Bucky taking over his dads company. There was a lot of business he needed to take care of and Y/n understood, so the wedding got pushed back once again.
The third being Y/n’s biological father showing up.
She was walking down the street with Bucky, Steve and Sam. The plan was to buy some more furniture for the house, and Steve and Sam just had to come too.
The guys went into one store as Y/n went to get a drink from across the street. Everything was fine until-
“Y/n? Y/n” She couldn’t understand why that voice sounded so familiar to her ears until she turned around.
“Hi baby…wait don’t you recognise me? Y/n it’s me, your dad.”
No. No this was not happening. Nope this was a very bad nightmare, come on Y/n wake up.
“Surprised to see me aren’t you? I got out on good behaviour”
Nope, nope this was just life taking the mickey out of me. Wakey wakey Y/n!
“Why are you being weird for? Come and give your old man a cuddle”
The thought of touching you makes my skin crawl. Where the hell is Ducky when I need him? No no no no stay away from me!
“Look how you’ve grown baby girl”
Why aren’t you moving Y/n? What is wrong with you? Ducky? Ducky where the hell are you?
“Bunny? Can you get away from my fiancée, like now!”
Ducky you’re here! Thank God! Please get him away from me!
“Fiancée? Wow my little girl is all grown up indeed, she’s getting married man!”
“Wha-Bun do you know this man?”
“Did they change her name when she was adopted?”
“Who are you?”
“I’m her dad”
Bucky stood straighter at the man’s words. Placing his body in front of hers as a shield he looked back at the store hoping Steve or Sam would see and come out, he needed to get his Bunny way from the monster solely responsible for the pain and suffering she went through.
“Get away from her” Bucky voice dropped low.
“She’s my daughter”
“No she isn’t, don’t ever come near her ever again.”
“Why what are you going to do? Bet I can still control the little cunt. Y/n get here!”
It was a good job that Bucky had been standing in front of her as her foot moved on its own accord.
“Don’t. Don’t call her that”
Sam looked outside pulling on Steve’s arm when he noticed the way Bucky was standing in front of Y/n, and the way she was trying to make herself look smaller behind her fiancés back.
Jogging across the road, Steve slapped his hand on a cars bonnet when the driver nearly ran him and Sam over. “Buck what’s going on?”
“Sam take Bunny down the street. Now”
“Okay-okay. Sunshine come with me sweet girl” coaxing her hands away from Bucky’s jacket as she gripped on for dear life. “Come on Sunny, I got you”
Sam wrapped his strong arms around her shielding her from the prying eyes of strangers he led her down the street, already knowing where to take her. He heard Bucky tell Steve to ring Howard. Sucking in a breath and pulling his best friend, his Sunshine closer to him when he heard Bucky saying who the man was.
Fifty-four minutes later – Sam timed it – the bell ringing chimming over the door signalled someone had entered. He sat them both in the far corner, he watched as she sat on the floor in the corner as she stroked the large black and white cat in her arms.
“Bun?”
“Over here Buck” Sam answered. That’s when he saw Bucky, Steve, Howard, George and Tony. Each of them having blood on their clothes.
“Bunny, baby-it’s me Ducky” Bucky had to tell her when she flinched when he touched her knees.
“D-Ducky?” hearing her sound so small broke their hearts, wanting to go back and beat the prick up even more.
“It’s me baby, who’ve you got today?” he asked referring to the cat in her arms. It wasn’t uncommon for Y/n to come to the cat café on Main Street, sometimes when things got too much for her she would go there spending hours just playing with the cats, sometimes she even helped out the staff if they were busy.
“Mr Nibbles” great name for a cat that nibbled on anything and everything. Who was currently nibbling on her jumper.
“How are you feeling Bun?”
“Stupid”
“Why do you feel stupid baby?”
“I always thought that if I ever saw him again I would call him all the names under the sun, you know? Or at least hurt him but no I just stood there like a frigging idiot not knowing what to frigging say because I’m frigging stupid!”
“Bun you’re not stupid so don’t ever call yourself that ever again. You wasn’t expecting him to appear baby, it’s not your fault-“
“I froze Bucky! I frigging froze an-an-and I didn’t know what to do. I-I-I-“
“Y/n breath-“
Shaking her head, she couldn’t, she needed him to know why she froze. She needed to explain. She couldn’t let him think she was weak. “I recognised his voice straight away, of course I did it haunts my nightmares. I turned around Bucky an-and I wanted to tell him how much I frigging hate him, how much I wished it was him that died and not my mama. I wanted him to know that no matter h-how much he thought he won he didn’t because he didn’t, did he Bucky? No-no-no-no he didn’t. He didn’t. He didn’t”
Not being able to stomach seeing his daughter struggle and stumble over words anymore Howard pushed Bucky out of the way, knocking Mr Nibbles off his daughters lap and pulled her into his arms.
“You’re right angel he didn’t win, he never will baby and I promise you that right now” he spoke with determination to make her understand that she had not only won by living a life surrounded by so many people who loved and adored her. Howard knew that everyone Y/n had around her all thanked whoever had brought her to them, because he did. Every night. Y/n was the light that brightened their lives. The sweetest, kindest, warmest souls out there and they were lucky to call her daughter, sister, fiancée, friend – hell even acquaintance. No matter what she saw the good in people, always happy to help family, friends and strangers.
But not only did she win she also survived. She survived the abuse she suffered, the orphanage, the bullying, the attack done by Brock. She proved the doctors wrong when they told Winnie and George that she wasn’t going to survive the attack from that bastard, by opening her eyes. She survived when she stood in the witness box of the court room and she told a room full of strangers what not only her but her mama had gone through.
Howard Stark was proud to call her his daughter.
Bucky had the wedding date pushed back once again, on the account of Y/n had been too scared to leave their home.
Months passed and Bucky was notified that Y/n’s biological father had been found in a ditch, dead. Nobody knew what or who did it, not like it mattered.
The fourth and final setback was Maria’s cancer diagnosis.
One night when Bucky and Y/n were asleep in bed the phone ringing woke both of them up, Bucky answered groggily sitting up straight away when he heard Tony’s voice on the other side sounding like he had been crying.
“Buck?”
“Baby w-we need to go, come on get dressed”
“What is it? What’s gone off?”
“Bun…it’s your mom. Baby she’s in hospital-” Though she could see his lips moving she just couldn’t hear the words he was speaking.
Getting out of the bed and rushing to her side of the wardrobe she put on whatever clothes she grabbed first. Practically flying down the stairs she rushed out of the house. Bucky following behind closely, trying to get her to slow down but it was no use.
Arriving at the hospital she instantly found Tony, running straight up to him she asked what had happened.
“Dad found her in the kitchen coughing up blood. Y/n/n I-I don’t know much more, Albert – Howard’s brother - rang me telling me to get here as soon as I could.”
“B-but she’s okay right? She will be won’t she Tone? Tony?”
“I-I don’t know Y/n, I don’t know”
By the time Bucky had gotten to them he saw brother and sister holding on to each other crying.
After multiple blood tests the doctor sat the family down the next day as Bucky waited in the waiting room with George and Winnie. “I’m sorry to have to tell you this but the results came back and it is stage four cancer. Lung cancer can be treated with surgery however the mass is too big for us to go down that route, we can also slow it down with the help of chemotherapy but sadly it will not cure it-“
“H-how long do I have left?” Maria interrupted, her hand gripping Howards.
“I can’t say for certain, it varies with everyone-“
“Can you give me a rough estimate? I’m sorry that I keep interrupting you”
“Don’t apologies, I understand. With treatment between seven to sixteen months, maybe even longer. Without treatment a few weeks to a few months” the doctor said regretfully.
“Months. Okay. Okay. That’s okay. When do I start treatment?”
“We can start the process next week”
“Okay, I’ll do it. My daughter is getting married soon a-and I want to see her walk down the aisle, you see” Maria smiled as if she hadn’t just found out that she’s dying.
The doctor smiled too “I’ll make sure that you see that happen”
Truthfully Howard, Tony and Y/n didn’t hear the rest of the conversation – their ears going fuzzy when the doctor said stage four cancer. Only snapping out of it when the door closed behind the doctor, leaving the family to come to terms with the results.
Telling Bucky and his parents, Winnie burst out crying at hearing her oldest friend was going to die. George trying to comfort his wife and best friend. Bucky took Y/n’s hand and took her outside for fresh air.
“It’s not fair Ducky, it’s not fair” she cried “It must be a mistake, it has to be. Yes they made a mistake!”
Even though he knew it was unlikely, he agreed with her. “It’s not fair baby, I know. Maybe they got it wron-“
“There’s no maybe Bucky. They got it wrong! My momma isn’t dying, she isn’t!”
“I know Bunny I know” he didn’t know what to say, so he just stood there and held his fiancée tight in his arms as she soaked his shirt through with her tears.
When Maria heard that Y/n wanted to push the date back just until things had settled down, she was against it at first she tried to argue with her daughter but ultimately got cut off with a coughing fit.
Now six months after her momma’s diagnosis Y/n was standing in the hotel room in front of the ceiling to floor mirror in her wedding dress. Wanda was behind her fixing the back of the dress and her hair at the same time. Nat was taking photos of everyone. Maria sat in the wheelchair she had been using for the past few months, Winnie sat next to her holding her friends hand. Both mothers crying at the image of Y/n in her wedding dress and at the fact that their babies were marrying each other, finally.
On the other side of the city Bucky was doing the same. Standing in front of ceiling to floor mirror in a hotel, Steve helping him fix his tie. Sam taking photos of them all. George and Howard sitting on the bed next to each other drinking whiskey. Both fathers feeling an overwhelming sense of pride at seeing Bucky standing there in his suit, knowing that in just in two hours that he will be marrying the love of his life.
Bride and groom to be both excited and nervous at the knowledge that they’ll be joined as one in two hours.
It was time to leave for the church when Nat stopped Y/n. “Bucky told me to give you this when we was on our way” handing over an envelope Nat gave her best friend a kiss on her cheek before helping Wanda with helping Maria into the car.
Finally seated in the car she opens the envelope containing a photo. At first she was confused as it was just a topless photo of Bucky until she turned the photo around.
She burst out laughing.
‘This is a reminder of what I looked like before we got married.’
“What is it?” Maria asked chuckling.
Showing her momma the photo and telling her to turn it over Maria too started to laugh, which made everyone else intrigued, one by one everyone started to laugh.
Bucky sure knew how to make her nerves settle even when they were apart.
When Steve saw Y/n in her dress he knew Bucky was going to cry. It was going to be the easiest fifty bucks he was going to win. Yes he and Sam made a bet on whether Bucky would cry or not. The bridemaids and groomsmen were in places, Nat and Steve, Wanda and Sam, Rebecca and Tony. Pepper was to help Morgan as she was the flower girl. Winnie had pushed Maria down already and were both waiting for the music to play along with everyone else.
The music had begun and everything was going perfect just like they had practiced but as Y/n put one foot out she just couldn’t move.
“Angel…”
“Dad-dad-I-something’s wrong”
“Nothing’s wrong sweetie, come on James is waiting for you angel”
“No-no it feels wrong. I can’t-“
Bucky looked at Steve, then his dad they both saw the pure fear in his blue eyes. George nodded to his son and smiled reassuringly before making his way out to see what was going on.
“Hey what’s wrong?” he asked seeing father and daughter standing there, Howard shook his head.
“I want you to walk me down the aisle as well George. Please.”
Oh how his heart leapt in his chest.
“Ar-are you sure darling?”
“Yes, it’s only right. That’s if that’s okay with both of you?”
“Of course” Howard and George spoke at the same time.
The music started again and everyone’s attention turned to the double doors as the three stepped over the threshold. Friends and family smiling as Howard, Y/n and George walked by, some of them muttering about how beautiful she looked.
Bucky stood there with tears streaming down his face at seeing his Bunny. Nat and Wanda rolled their eyes when they saw Steve smiling and Sam shaking his head, knowing they had put a bet on their friends reaction.
Reaching him Y/n smiled softly at Bucky, giving both Howard and George a kiss on their cheeks she took Bucky’s waiting hand.
“I thought you ran away” Bucky whispered.
“No never, just wanted your dad to give me away as well”
As the pastor greeted everyone and began the ceremony Bucky couldn’t pull his eyes away from Y/n, nor could she with him.
“James you may read your vows”
“My beautiful Bunny, I love you more today than I did yesterday and I’ll love you more tomorrow than I did today. For as long as I am alive I promise to not only to keep loving you in the purest form but I promise that I will never let you ever second guess my love, loyalty and devotion for you. You are my soul mate, my better half, my Bunny. I promise in front of everyone here to cherish you, to honour and sustain you, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, and to be true to you in all things until death alone shall tear us apart”
Reaching out to wipe the tears that had fallen on her cheeks, the pastor waited for Bucky to move backwards before telling Y/n that it was her turn to read her vows.
“My beautiful Ducky-“ she started knowing he always blushed when she called him beautiful or pretty. “I have loved you since I knew the real meaning of it. When I look at you all I see is my future, our future. Like I told you on our first date its always been you. You’ve always been my beacon, my happiness. You have saved me so many times I don’t think you realise how many. I will always love you more and more as our days go by and that’s my promise to you. I promise in front of everyone here to cherish you, to honour and sustain you, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, and to be true to you in all things until death alone shall tear us apart”
It was now her turn to wipe the tears that fell from his bright blue eyes.
“Rings please” Nat and Steve stepped forward handing the rings over “James repeat after me- With this ring I, James, take you, Y/n, to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know, I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us.”
Repeating the words, making sure his voice was strong so she knew he was as serious as he has ever been, he slips the ring on to her finger.
“Y/n repeat after me- With this ring I, Y/n, take you, James, to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know, I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us.”
She too repeats the words, she puts the ring on his finger.
“Y/n and James, you have come here today before us and before God and have expressed your desire to become husband and wife. You have shown your love and affection by joining hands, and have made promises of faith and devotion, each to the other, and the receiving of the rings. Therefore, it is my privilege as a minister and by the authority given to me by the State of New York, I now pronounce that you are husband and wife. James, you may kiss your wife”
The whole church erupted in cheers as Bucky took Y/n’s face in both hands and kissed her passionately.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is my privilege to introduce to you for the first time Mr and Mrs Barnes”
Their first dance as man and wife was to Unchained Melody, as they danced on the dance floor Y/n noticed the way her dad was looking at her mom, and how George looked at Winnie. The same way Bucky looked at her. Full of love. Nothing more, nothing less.
Y/n caught her momma’s eyes and nodded.
Winnie stood and helped Maria stand. Howard shooting straight up as her legs were lightly wobbly. Before he could ask what was going on Y/n spoke “Instead of doing the traditional father and daughter dance, I would like my father and mother to dance alongside me and Ducky, the same for Winnie and George”
As the music continued both sets of parents danced on either side of their children. Bucky couldn’t stop looking at his wife, his heart soaring at being able to call her that now, his trousers tenting too. Don’t judge him.
As the night draw close, Bucky and Y/n thanked everyone for coming and took their leave back to the hotel that Bucky had gotten dressed, celebrating on their own. As husband and wife.
The next morning they were off on their honeymoon. Greece.
Six weeks after being married and four weeks after coming back from their honeymoon Y/n sat on the toilet checking her watch every few minutes, the white pregnancy test seemed to have grown eyes as it was staring back at her. Bucky sat on the side of the bath, his knee bouncing, checking his own watch.
“Baby it’s time”
“You check I’m too scared”
A noise between a laugh and a sob made it way out of Bucky’s mouth as the positive sign was there.
“What? What does it say?”
“Positive. Bunny your pregnant!”
Standing up and taking the test from his hands not really believing him, Bucky got down on his knees his hands going straight to her stomach, lifting her shirt up he kissed the flat surface.
“Ducky…we-we’re going to be parents”
“We are my love”
The bathroom filled with laughter mixed with cries.
And then the phone rang.
Arriving at her parents’ home as fast as they could, Pepper greeted them. “In their bedroom” is all she said.
Running up the stairs Bucky tried to get her to slow down without blurting out the reason but it was no use. She needed to see her momma.
“Momma-I’m-I’m here”
“Oh my sweet girl” Maria croaked out, looking weak and so small in the double size bed. Her hair long gone, skin wrapping it’s self tightly around her skeleton. Though she didn’t look like herself but a shell of what she once was, Y/n thought her momma was still as beautiful as she was the day they had first met. “I’m so pr-proud of you, y-you know that don’t you?”
“I know m-momma”
“Oh b-baby plea-please don’t cry, I’m always go-going to be with you. Always.” Taking her daughters hand in her frail one Maria knew it wasn’t long until she left her husband and children behind to head up to the pearly white gates in the sky.
With her family around her, she was happy. Her eyes scanned the room, her husband on her right holding her hand, her only son who she was so unbelievably proud of everything he achieved in his life sitting on the chair close to his father, Pepper who she was proud to call her daughter-in-law standing behind Tony. George standing against the wall, the man gave her the life she had from the moment he introduced her to Howard. Winnie-her dearest and longest friend tucked in George’s side. Bucky who she help deliver when he decided that he had been in the womb for long enough, the one she was proud to call her son-in-law even in the short period that he had been married to her daughter, standing by his parents.
And her pride and joy, Y/n. Though she wasn’t biologically hers yet she never treated her any different to Tony, no never. Maria’s love for her daughter was pure and real, she always wanted a daughter and she knew she could leave this world happily knowing she had the sweetest, kindest people to call her daughter.
“Momma, I ne-need to tell you something”
“Wha-what is it sweetie?” Y/n leaned in so she could whisper to her the news. That she was going to be a grandma again.
“Oh swe-sweetie th-that is amazing” gesturing for Y/n to come closer so she could whisper in her ears. “Make sure they know that I love them e-even t-though I wo-won’t meet them”
“I w-w-will momma. Promise”
Thirty minutes later hand in hand with her husband and daughter, surrounded by her loved ones Maria closed her eyes and took her last breath with the only regret being that she wasn’t strong enough to meet her unborn grandbaby.
Two weeks later it was time to say goodbye properly by burying Maria, Howard couldn’t find it in himself to stand long enough to do the eulogy. Tony couldn’t find the words to do it so Y/n told them that if it was okay with them she would.
Now standing there in a church packed full of family, friends and strangers she started to regret saying she would do it. But she couldn’t fail her momma, not today.
“As many as you know I’m- I was adopted when I turned eight by my parents. I was brought into their home, their lives, I was accepted and loved by them. I never once felt out of place growing up or felt alone, I never felt like I was different because they always made sure I knew I was truly loved. My momma was always there for me when I needed her, she was the best person to go to for help and advice. She was the best mom ever and I was truly blessed to have her as mine. There’s no doubt in my mind that my momma will be with my mama and be talking her ear off” she stops as everyone chuckles. “Maria Stark was the one of the best women I have ever met, she didn’t care about your past, whether you was rich or poor, as long as you was kind-a good person she was happy to talk to you. She helped anyone who needed to be helped. She saw good in those damaged and I’m the perfect example of that.”
“My momma wouldn’t have wanted people to cry at her funeral so please don’t, dry your tears and smile. Smile at the memories of her, smile at remembering how she was, smile when your think of the name Maria Stark and all the good that comes with the name. Maria Stark was an incredible, strong, beautiful woman, please don’t ever forget her. On behalf of my father and brother I would like to thank each and every one of you for coming here today to celebrate the life of a wife, mother and friend, thank you”
Y/n steps down from the podium, her hands shook as she moved towards Bucky who stood up and took her hand in his. “I’m so proud of you baby” he whispered into her ear.
As her momma was placed into her final resting place and the flowers started to overflow Y/n stood back and let everyone say their final goodbyes first. As everyone moved away and started to go back to their cars all that was left was Howard, Tony, Bucky’s parents, Bucky and Y/n.
Y/n looked to her right, her breath hitching caused Bucky too look over at her. Following with his eyes at what she was staring at he released a stuttering breath.
Howard caught onto what Y/n had saw, putting his rose on top on the pile of flowers and saying his goodbyes to his wife, his only love, he moved over to his daughter. Kissing her forehead, he squeezed his eyes shut before whispering.
“Your momma wanted to be buried next to the woman who gave her, her daughter”

My treasures
zuko,azula and mom reader
The duty you had for the fire nation and your royal in laws, so to keep the family strong and also have children who are fire benders like their father. Those duties had been fulfilled when you had zuko and azula two gifted fire benders, that you love so much and care deeply for as well. Azula and zuko had both become your prizes treasures in your life within in the palace, as you had given up your old life to welcome a new life that had been made. The kids love and care for you as you love and care for them as well.
y/n " ........" you are sitting in the garden and looking at fountain, and you thought it was going to be a peaceful day. As the kids seem to be busy with some other matters and you had not been given, any royal duties to deal with today.
????? " mom" you had soon heard the voice of your kids as you soon got up, and turned towards them.
y/n " hello my children now tell me what has gotten you in such an energetic mood"
azula " well mom I was show Zuzu that I can out race him to you and I won"
zuko " stop calling me that azula"
azula " never and you can't make me dumb dumb"
zuko " azula"
y/n " no fight with each other you both know that"
zuko and azula " yes mom"
y/n “ now tell me how your lessons went”
zuko “ the lessons went well today mom and you can ask the teachers”
y/n “ I will young man”
azula “ we also practice our fire bending as well, our mentors are saying we are doing great … well they said that about me not Zuzu”
zuko “ azula”
y/n “ be nice Azula your brother is getting there”
azula “ yes mom hey mom you can fire bender as well “
y/n “ yes but my fire bender is not for fighting that much, more like performance and other stuff as well” the kids looked amazed at you as you had stated fire bender and made a bride of fire soon having it fly around.
azula " wow mom that amazing"
y/n " thank you"
zuko " did you use to do fire bender before you married father"
????? " oh so your mother is showing you two her fire bending is she" the trio had soon looked and saw ozai coming their way.
zuko and azula " hello father"
y/n " hello my husband"
ozia " hello my wife and children I heard you all talking, and came to see what was the matter"
azula " mom was telling us the fire bending she can do"
ozai " oh I can see that your mother using her skills in beautiful way, that is something I learned about her and that I love"
zuko " wow that amazing"
y/n " it seems like we are blessed with very gifted benders my husband, in no time our kids will be doing well with the element of fire"
ozai " yes they will be doing well and in time they will be helping the nation, gain more power and land"
y/n " yes you are right my dear" you still didn't like the idea of your kids become benders that will use their skills, for evil and you knew that ozai will make them follow his family path in life.
azula " mother"
y/n " yes my dear"
azula " i was wondering if you can show us some of your skills"
y/n " sure I will love to my daughter"
ozai " yes that sounds like a good idea you two will need to know, all the skins to be the best fire benders like all the rest that came before you two"
the kids " yes dad"
ozai " good"
ozai " children I will love to have some words with your mother alone"
zuko and azula " yes father" the kids soon bowed before they walked away. You are soon left alone in the royal gardens with you husband he soon looked at you.
ozai " I will allow you to teach them fire bending that you learned while, growing up but I don't wish for the kids to learn anything else from your past"
y/n " I know my husband I know"
ozai " good you have been a good wife and mother stay by my side and with the royal after all these years"
y/n " thank you my love and you have been a good husband and father as well"
ozai " I know you long for your past but those times and life is over, you are lady of the nation no longer that village young lady I meet many years ago"
y/n " yes I know ozai but I can still think about my past"
ozai " yes you can but sometime it the best if you give up the past, for everyone sake"
'y/n " yes my husband"
ozai " here you can tell those stoires and anything else to the children's if they makes you happy, but I wish for them to not have that much of connection"
y/n " thank you this make me happy"
ozai " sure I will leave you here now I have a meeting with my father" you had nodded your head as ozai kissed your hand before he soon walked off, you were now once again left alone with your thoughts. Sitting on the stone beach and thinking about the past and present, there was also worry about what the future will hold as well.

ONE DAY, Part I
A WILL HALSTEAD X READER FIC (FT. JAY HALSTEAD X READER; PLATONIC)
A/N: so I’m a huge fan of the Halsteads (who isn’t?) and love the idea of Jay’s wife or Will’s wife being close to their brother-in-law
You were bored, and you were uncomfortable, extremely so.
At nearly thirty-eight weeks pregnant, you felt like an overgrown watermelon. Everywhere was swollen and sore, and you had not been able to see your feet for the last eight weeks.
Sighing, you flicked through the television. But not even an episode of Property Brothers could pull you out of your stupor, and it made you glance around the living room hoping that something would appear to need to be done.
You hated being on medical leave from Chicago Med, even if it was because you were so close to welcoming your baby into the world. That hospital was more than just work to you. It was there one day that you had met your husband, Will.
Picking up your cellphone, you debated phoning Will but decided against it. He was still pulling shifts at Med so he could have some time off after Baby Halstead was born, and would be extremely busy as an Attending in the emergency department.
You couldn’t even phone your best friend Sylvie, as she was at work.
You were just about to throw the iPhone at your side when you realized that you did have someone to phone.
Your brother-in-law, Jay.
Humming, you knew that before Will had left for work that morning that he had mentioned his brother having a day off, and he hoped Jay would relax for once. You instantly clicked on his name and the ringing filled the silent room.
“Halstead?” said Jay curtly, as he answered his cellphone.
“Halstead here too, two in fact,” you giggled, knowing that the detective had not looked at the caller ID.
Jay chuckled, lighter than before. “Hey if it’s not my two favorite Halsteads!” he replied.
Now it was your time to chuckle.
“Don’t let Will hear that, Jay,” you said, thinking about your husband.
“Are you kidding me? Have you met my brother, your husband, he’d agree,” said Jay over the phone. You giggled again, that was actually very true. Will was smitten with you and ecstatic to be a dad.
Jay cleared his throat. “So I’m guessing you’re at home and bored?”
You couldn’t help the nod, even though he couldn’t see you. “Yup, wondered if you wanted to go get lunch?”
“Mama Garcias?” asked Jay. He knew that it had been a firm favorite during the pregnancy, it seemed his unborn niece or nephew had inherited his brother’s love of spicy food.
“Yeah, I’m ready to go,” you replied, pushing yourself up off the seat a bit. “How long will you be?”
“Stay comfy, sis,” answered Jay, as you heard him move around. “I won’t be long.”
————————————————————————
“Jay Halstead, I freaking love you,” you exclaimed, swallowing yet another spicy chicken tamale.
Jay chuckled from where he sat before you in the cozy restaurant. “Just wanted my sister and baby niece or nephew to be happy.”
“Well, we’re both very happy, so thank you,” you said seriously, smiling wide. You were so lucky that you and Jay were so close, he really had become a brother to you in all but blood.
He sipped at a cup of coffee, returning the smile. “So any idea what the newest Halstead is going to be?”
You shook your head. “Will and I decided not to know, but we’re thinking it’s another Halstead boy to be honest.
Jay chuckled again. “That’s funny, I’ve been saying to Kim and Antonio that it’s a little girl for sure,” he replied.
“Aww,” you said softly. It was so cute that Jay thought you and Will were going to have a daughter and him a niece. “Well, I’m sure they will love their Uncle Jay regardless!”
“Of course they will!” answered Jay as he finished a pupusa. “Uncle Jay is going to be tons of fun.”
You smiled, you knew that your baby would be so loved. “Don’t let Will hear you say that, he’s been such a mother hen lately, but it’s from a good place.”
Jay nodded. “I’ve figured so, from my calls and being with him and you both. It’s nice though, us just hanging out!”
You had just opened your mouth to reply, when shots rang out and cut through the windows and you felt yourself hit the ground.
“Stay down!” shouted Jay over the gunfight, his body shielding your own. He had his own gun outstretched, but you couldn’t help but scrunch your eyes shut in fear.
You were terrified for your unborn child, for the life you had lovingly conceived with your husband and couldn’t wait to meet.
Perhaps today should have been the day that you stayed home.

pamamanhikan
ss month 2024 | day 9: wedding traditions | ao3
pamamanhikan - (noun) a Filipino tradition where the families of the bride and groom first meet.
They were a weird bunch, standing over unnamed graves at the farthest corner of the town. It rained earlier, the cusp of autumn lingering in the aftermath of the light showers. This was the designated spot, Kakashi said, where everyone can easily forget and forgive.
Despite its remoteness, someone took the time to cut the grass and plant perennial wildflowers, the bare minimum for the excommunicated. Sarada snuggled closer to the breast of her grandmother, still too milk-drunk to watch what was happening.
Sasuke shifted in his feet, unaccustomed still with the presence of Sakura’s parents. He cleared his throat and swept his arm across the grounds. “Well, uh, this is it.”
“I can’t believe they didn’t even put their names. So disrespectful.” Kizashi shook his head in dismay. He glanced at Sasuke briefly. “And I’m not saying this because you’re my son-in-law, but I think everyone who gets on their deathbed wishes to be remembered.”
“Papa,” Sakura whined.
“Ah, let your father speak his mind,” Mebuki said softly, adjusting Sarada against her waist. “Now, Sasuke dear, I think it’s time you make the introductions.”
Sasuke cleared his throat and went to the two highest headstones in the middle. “These are my parents, Fugaku and Mikoto.” Sakura watched him gather his composure. “Mom, Dad, these are Sakura’s parents—Haruno Kizashi and Mebuki.”
Kizashi took out an incense holder and sticks and lit them in between the graves. “Nice to meet you, Fugaku and Mikoto. On behalf of my daughter, I apologize that we only have this meeting of families after their wedding.” He playfully glared at Sakura which she dutifully returned with a tight smile. “I believe we can agree that what they did was more of an elopement and that we agree on a second, more traditional wedding—”
“Papa—”
“---eventually.” Kizashi pulls Mebuki to his side, his hand gently patting Sarada’s head. “Me and my wife, we’re not really from a prestigious family.”
“We’re normies,” his wife suggested.
Kizashi agreed, “Yes, we’re not a ninja clan, like yourselves although I heard you’re very prolific.”
“Lots of prodigies, very good genes,” Mebuki added, “It shows in his handsome face. I understand why my only daughter has pursued him since they were kids.”
“Very intelligent too.”
“Yes, I agree. Very smart.”
Sakura can only close her eyes in embarrassment. “Mama, not you too. Can you spare me some dignity?”
“Well, Fugaku and Mikoto, he had a good upbringing,” Kizashi grinned at Sasuke who by now was staring at the ground and probably counting the number of bugs that have made their journey across his feet. “Your time here was short, but I’d like to believe some traits are genetic. Like kindness.”
Mebuki nodded. “He’s also very helpful. You must have been good cooks as Sasuke here likes to pass time in the kitchen. He loves making my daughter a variety of dishes.”
“She’s busy at the hospital,” Sasuke interjected in his wife’s defense. He cleared his throat, suddenly aware that he cut off his mother-in-law. “She’s a doctor, Mom.”
“You’re right, and an excellent one at that,” Mebuki replied, “So it’s really a big help that he keeps her full with energy and nourishment. He’s a very good kid.” She turned to Sasuke. “You’re a good kid.”
Sakura wondered how Sasuke was taking all of these in. Prior to this meeting, her parents really never told her what they thought about him. But calling him a good kid, after all the things he had done, all the crimes he committed, and all the consequences that ensued, must be something foreign to him.
Because it was all true. Underneath that exterior, he was a good kid.
Kizahi placed an arm across Sasuke’s shoulder. “Don’t worry about him, Kizashi and Mikoto. We will do our best to take care of him.”
“We will make him his favorite dishes. Of course, it wouldn’t be like yours, but if it’s something he wants, then we will cook it for him,” Mebuki seconded.
“Don’t you worry about him. We’ll keep an eye out for your only son.”
Sakura saw the slight change in Sasuke’s features. “He has a brother, Papa.”
“Oh you do?” Kizashi removed his hand and pulled away to give him space. Her father must have noticed him tensed up.
Sakura waited for anger, for denial of existence, for the lack of recognition, but maybe it was the time or the presence of the ghosts of his family.
“An older brother. Uchiha Itachi,” Sasuke looked at the older couple, “He doesn’t have a grave here.”
“I see,” Kizashi simply said. “Is he a good brother?”
Sakura reached out for Sasuke’s hand. It was cold, clammy, and rough, but he held her gently. She noticed the grass stains on his nails, and some blades of grass got stuck on the side of his pants.
“He was,” he answered.
Sarada stirred in her sleep and her chubby fingers found Mebuki’s chest finally uncomfortable.
“I think we’re done for the day,” Kizashi said. He gestured to Mebuki and the couple made a bow to the headstones, murmuring a shared prayer under their breaths.
At the gates, Sasuke looked back one last time. “This garden’s gonna be overgrown with weeds in a year.”
Mebuki shrugged. “Hmm, sometimes nature does the upkeep.”
======
“Sarada, wait up!” Sakura left the comfort of Sasuke’s grip and ran after their dawdling toddler. “She’s an adventurer, this one.”
Sasuke managed to corner the black-haired babe. He helped her clamber up to his shoulders for a better view. While Sarada might have discovered the joy of walking, she still preferred the joy of her premium seating—as if she was on the top of the world. She laughed, toothless and spittles, as she grabbed the strands of her father’s hair.
“It’s a bummer that Mama and Papa aren’t here,” he said.
“Aren’t they too overbearing for you?” Sakura sighed. “I love them, I really do, but five days in their house didn’t really give us privacy. This free day is like a breath of fresh air.”
“There’s privacy,” Sasuke reasoned out. “I kissed you with lights out, honey.”
“That’s not the point.”
“And they made me lots of onigiri.”
“Okay glutton.”
They stopped in their tracks once they saw the full view of the graveyard. In her periphery, Sakura thought she saw Sasuke sway. She held on to his elbow nonetheless. The grass remained tame and perfectly tamed. The flowers were vivid and bright and warm, and someone surrounded the headstones with bushes of camellias.
The blank slates now have names. Beside Fugaku’s was a new stone: Uchiha Itachi.
Sarada giggled, her hands reaching out to touch the first bud of a cherry blossom tree, an ushering of spring.

𝑫/𝒏 - daughter's name
𝑺/𝒏 - son’s name
you were currently entering the Lusail Stadium where the World Cup final was supposed to take place at, in your arms there was your 11 month old daughter and walking a few steps ahead of you was your 2 year old son
you were going to sit in the family section with your mother in law, Fayza, and your brother in law, Ethan, who had arrived earlier and were just waiting for you
“maman when can we see daddy?” your son s/n asked while you showed security your access card to the family section “well, we are going to see him soon playing, but I think we can see him before the game starts” you said back to him and continued walking to your destination
you three walked inside the family section where you found Achraf Hakimi and his wife Hiba, who were really close friends of yours and Kylian “my God you guys are finally here” Hiba exclaimed as soon as she saw you walk in “sorry it was very difficult to find a space where it was not full so that we could get out of the car but how are you, have you guys talk to Kylian yet” you asked very worriedly knowing very well that your husband must be very nervous right now
“no we haven’t seen him, Fayza and Ethan went to search for him just a few minutes ago” Hakimi replied “d/n you are so big now, she definitely took Kylian’s genes, she looks like him more and more” Hiba exclaimed while grabbing the little girl from my arms and tickling her making her giggle “and so did you s/n you have gotten so big how is football?” she continued while looking at the 2 year old boy who was sited down
“daddy said that one day I’m going to be better than he is” he replied proudly, he really is a mini version of his father, unfortunately the Mbappe genes are very strong but I wouldn’t have it other way
Right in that moment the door opens and I see Feyza, Ethan and who are accompanied by my husband, Kylian rushed to where you were and hugged you “hi, I missed you, why didn’t you say you arrived” Kylian said while hugging you and kissing your head “sorry we just arrived and we were talking to Achraf and Hiba” you replied while hugging him back, then he separated you both and hugged your son who was patiently waiting for his turn to get attention from his dad
“and how are you mini Mbappe, ready to see me play?” he said while carrying your son who was smiling nonstop “yes daddy I want to see you win” your son replied very cheerfully, meanwhile you went to your in laws and said hi to them, catching up a bit
Some time passed and they were calling him to the locker room “okay I have to go but I’ll be back, i want to hear you guys cheering ok mes amours?” kylian told your two kids who were already settled for the match “okay papa” your son replied before he turned to you “I’ll be back in no time” and gave you a quick peck “good luck, and no matter what the results are we will always be proud of you” you said in a whisper, he smiled and turned to his mom who was looking at you both smiling, he also hugged and said goodbye too her and his brother, before turning to his best friend Hakimi “good luck brother” Hakimi said before Kyky went back to the locker room
You decided to sit next to your mother in law since Ethan was currently entertaining your son and Hiba’s older son, Amine, meanwhile your daughter was sitting in your lap playing with Naim, Hiba’s younger son who was currently about 10 months old “okay guys settle down the players are about to go to the field” you said to the three of them and they went to sit down
𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝟒𝟓 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫(𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭)
The first half is already over and Argentina has an advantage of 2 the first goal was scored by Messi and the second Di Maria, France seemed very off and Kylian seemed distracted, I hope they get better in the second part. Everyone here is very nervous, d/n has already fallen asleep, I’m currently trying to calm myself and s/n down, we decided to eat something before the second half starts
𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝟖𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐟
PENÁLTI FINALLY, and Kylian is the one scoring it, everyone was nervous but hopeful that he was going to score and….HE DID, everyone started screaming which made d/n shift a little bit but I picked her up and started rocking her
A minute later the ball was with Marcus Thuram, he passed it to Kylian and KYLIAN SCORED AGAIN, everyone stood up from their seats, I was on the verge of tears, my husband is the goat, scoring a hat trick in the final, my son was jumping up and down and Hakimi was screaming (you know these kids) everyone was so happy, the game was tied
𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭
The game ended 2-2 so they needed extra time, I hope they score again
Messi scored again so the score is 3-2 with Argentina leading, he scored in the first part of the extra time
Then on the second part France got another Penalty, and once again it was my husband to was doing it, at this point I was praying for him to score, AND HE DID, the score was 3-3, I’m so proud of him, unfortunately we had to go to penalties since the final score of the added time was 3-3
𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬
My husband did score a penalty but unfortunately France still lost the World Cup finals, s/n was crying and I wanted to cry too but I had to be strong for my kids and my husband who from what I can see is not in a good mood, although he also won the golden boot but that one is just a personal gain, I see him getting comforted by his teammates and also Deschamps and the president of France, who all seem very proud of him
“Don’t worry it’s going to be okay, il va s’en sortir(he is going to be okay) my mother in law told me seeing my sad face, “ je sais mais, he worked so hard for this for him to lose I can’t imagine what he’s feeling right now” you said while a teardrop fell from your eye, she wiped away your tear and continued comforting you, your son then came and sat on his grandma’s lap “nous avons perdu maman(we lost mom)” your son cried his hand reaching to you, “je sais mon amour mais ça va aller(I know my love it’s going to be okay), do you think we can go and see him now” you turned to Achraf who was also sad for his best friend “I think we can only see him when they reach the hotel” he replied back
So we decided to leave the stadium and try to reach the hotel before the team
Arriving there you went to your room and sent a text to your husband saying that you were at the hotel and that you were very proud of him and the team, in which he saw but didn’t text back
A few minutes later you heard the door of your hotel room opening and there stood your husband he was looking down the whole time but his eyes beamed when he saw you and your son, your son ran towards him “papa nous sommes fires de toi (daddy we are proud of you)” your son said while hugging his dad, his lips curved into a smile then he looked up at you and you smiled back at him
“okay s/n you have seen papa now you have to sleep it’s late” you said to your son who looked tired “okay maman bonne nuit papa(okay mom good night daddy)” he said to his dad then got out of his grip and went to his bed, but not before being tucked in by you two
After that you two decided to go check up on d/n who was sleeping on her crib before going to the balcony to have some alone time
“You know I’m very proud of you” you tell your husband after a moment of silence “I know but I could’ve done better” he replied still not looking at you “yes but you did everything you could and you scored a hat trick that was amazing btw, and you also won the golden boot, you did so much for your team but unfortunately it wasn’t your day, next time you guys are going to win I mean you guys still have the Euro and you will have another opportunity to win the World Cup” you tell him while holding his hands trying to make eye contact with your husband
He looked at you and smiled “merci d’être là pour moi(thank you for being here for me)” he said while standing up to hug you “je serai toujours là pour toi mon amour, je t’aime(I will always be here for you my love, I love you)” he leaned in and gave you a passionate kiss “je t’aime aussi ma reine(I love you too my queen)” he said after you pulled away

SOME WORLDBUILDING!!! FOR MY STEAMPUNK/SCI-FI/SPACE STORY!!!
ive hit a wall with the outfits for my steampunk sci-fi space story BUT the inside of the ship is similar to, say, the fortress of meropide in genshin. without all the oceanlike references. the ship itself is massive and its sectioned into floors (i'll sketch this out later </3)
these floors are made to resemble human civilization as closely as possible. they are wide and oval, and in the middle is the giant elevator that takes you floor to floor. on each floor theres a clock hand on the ceiling that tells you which area will be in sleep mode (better name pending. maybe.) in which the area is dark for about five or so hours.
they dont actually record time. you have a curfew bell and you're not required by LAW to go but its reccomended because there is literally 0 light. like walls come up (you can go thru a door to the other areas still) but. theres a wall. theres no light. u need a flashlight. womp womp
phones are where the scifi bit comes in. theyre holographic. bc its cool. usually through a watch.
bug lights are popular. a little bug that flies ahead and has a small but effective little light. theyre prone to exploding though. hm.
factories are on the lower floors, housing is from the middle to the top. higher up means higher status usually. housing floors usually also include stores and things, because ppl buy buildings and sell their own stuff. but theres a mall floor owned by the company.
most money earned is company money. you work to keep your house, and you can use company money in the company mall. real money is something you had to have brought along with you. and you only keep it if you're actively making it. that said, most stores will take company money. you just cant buy a building without real money. keeps buildings open for businesses.
cops are called guards instead because it sounds less threatening to criminals that live there. more "theyre keeping us safe" vibes. they look out for smugglers and stowaways mostly.
people who came were mostly applicants. a lot of ppl were afraid to go at all because. wooo scary space. and because of a certain incident OOPS!!!
they bring in new people and add to the place all the time, so the common living area is pretty cramped.
prisons suck. like really suck. it'll be hard to get hired again after you're out too. which means yeah hurray bias and prejudice (because remember this is based on before companies had regulations. capitalism at its worst.)
the food can be really bad or really good. depends on how much you're paying. living closer to the factories usually means you work longer shifts. or you're a criminal trying to stay away from the (literal) higher-ups.
working on the ship itself pays better than factory work. like waaayy better. as well as guard work and school jobs. (yeah we have schools. theres three in each living area.
company CEO is very rarely seen. its moreso his bitter wife and his daughter who i love sososososo much
main characters are Alice Riis, William Spargo, and Eva Tarbell. Alice is a journalist, Will is a factory worker, and Eva is a an upstanding citizen whos definitely not a smuggler. But there are others, like the CEO's daughter, Laika, and a salon worker, Vera. there's also Will's mom, his dad, and his cat. We love his cat.
Will came on the ship because his father worked for the company. the whole family went.
Eva was intended to be a guard, but she snuck off. she avoids detection by staying in the lower levels and couch-surfing basically.
Alice practically begged to be let on and write stories for them. they only let her go because someone else cancelled last minute.
thats all i have i think hurray!
#tzu rambles#ocs#Eva Tarbell#Alice Riis#William Spargo#Laika Verick#<- yes her name is relevant yes her name has an in story reason. you'll see.#ill tag vera when she has a last name#oc#steampunk space story

Seeing Red | Ch. 22: Unpleasant visitor ✍️
Word count: 3.3k (it's a long one, y'all)
Warnings: TOP GUN HUBBY & DAD AGENDA BROUGHT TO YOU BY YOUR HUMBLE WRITER. mentions of the past, mentions of sex, sad, fluff and bit of laughter all mixed together, bit of jealous jake. mentions of drinks aaaand swearing here and there.
A/N: okay y'all, this is a long one, and there's gonna be some INTERESTING things coming soon. We're getting closer to the truth, babes. Just wait a bit longer.
MASTERLIST ON PINNED!
“Ava, don’t go near the water without us!” Reuben raises his voice so his daughter can hear him, but she’s more occupied running around with her new friend, Liam.
“How do you feel about having Liam as your future son-in-law?” You joke, recording a video of Liam, Ava, and Ted laughing while chasing each other.
“His mom raised him well. I can’t ask for anything better. He follows your joke, smiling and sitting down with you. “I bet it was hard. It is hard for me and Jazz, but we have each other.”
“It wasn’t easy. I had my mom, fortunately. But yeah, it was a challenge.”
“Did you regret it?” He looks into Jake’s blue cooler, filled with drinks and some food.
“Never. He’s the love of my life.” You smile, showing him a picture of the three kids. “And those are yours.”
“Look at my babies. It’s funny because when I met my wife, I thought I would never love someone as much as I loved her.” He chuckles and zooms in on the photo on your phone. “And then Ava came. She wasn’t planned, you know.”
You nod, watching Liam play with the sand. “Liam wasn’t either. Well, you know that already.”
Mickey sits in front of you, a bottle of sunscreen in his hands. “Can you help me?”
“Am I the designated mom of the group?” You laugh, getting the bottle out of Mickey’s hands.
“Before you came, it was Sarge.”
“Sarge?” You put sunscreen on his back, making sure that everything’s covered.
“My wife. That’s her rank. She works at SDPD.”
“Woah, she must be an amazing woman.” You pat Mickey’s side. “Done, Mickey”
“Thank you!” He turns around, puts on his glasses, and smiles. “What a good day with the family.”
“Yeah, when you don’t have a black eye.” Rooster groans, taking a soda can out of the cooler and pressing it to his eye.
“Next time, don’t go around spreading false information.” Phoenix sits next to Mickey, handing him some fruit. “You want?”
“Thank you, sweet lady.” He takes one grape and eats it. “Where’s Jake?”
You turn your head toward the kids, now being followed by a blonde, shirtless cowboy who pretends to be a dinosaur. “Being a kid.”
“Next one in line is Bob.” Phoenix says, moving when Javy returns from the car, so he can sit down. “Found the glasses?”
“Yeah, they fell to the floor. Were you talking about Bob?”
“Bob wants to be a father?” You ask Phoenix.
“Bob is on the way to being a father. Her wife is pregnant. That’s why they aren’t here today. Bob went to tell his in-laws.”
“Another baby to play with.” Mickey says in a singsong voice.
Jake comes back, and Payback moves so he can sit next to you. You roll your eyes behind your sunglasses. “Those kids can run a marathon.”
“We were saying before that Liam is gonna be Payback’s future son-in-law.” You inform him.
Jake nods, smiling. “I’m gonna have the prettiest grandkids.”
They start talking about the future, about Bob’s baby, weddings, and stuff, reminiscing about things from a time when you weren’t around. You smile and nod, laughing at the funny stories of how Payback and Bob met their girls, and it makes you remember your own story—how you met Jake five years ago.
“You’re thinking about it, too, right?” Jake whispers, his hand moving to your back as a way of calling your attention.
“You were the biggest idiot ever.” You laugh out loud, making the rest drop their conversations and enjoy the small but sweet interaction between you and Jake.
“Oh my, it’s the story of how you two met?” Nat grins, memories of that night coming to her mind.
“We need to know. Please.” Mickey begs, pointing at him and Payback. “And Bob. But he’s not here.”
"Well, it all happened-” you start, but you see a man approaching the kids, the sun hitting you in the face and blocking your vision. “Who’s that?”
All of you turn to look at the children. Liam is hiding behind Ava; Ted is unbothered, playing with a seashell he just found. Jake, Reuben, and you get up quickly and move towards the man, who turns out to be your boss. Cyclone. What is he doing here?
"You've gotta be kidding me.” Jake hisses under his breath, moving quickly to get his son. “Hey, Cyclone.”
“You’re all here! I was just talking with little Liam, but he seems to have forgotten about me already.” He tries to tickle Liam, whose first reaction is to hide his face in his dad’s neck. “He’s a bit shy, isn’t he?”
“Not really. Maybe he doesn’t like you.” Jake suggests with a smirk. You smack him on the head. “Not you too.”
“Don’t be a dick!” you whisper yell, before turning to Cyclone. “He sometimes forgets people quickly, yeah.”
“Red, you look beautiful in that sundress.” Cyclone comments, and a part of you cringes. Yeah, you’re not a fan of the kind of attention you’re getting.
“Oh, thank you.” You look at your watch, “I think it’s time for Liam to get an afternoon snack; we should head with the rest.”
“It’s been nice to meet you outside the academy,” Jake says, turning around and grabbing your hand with his free one, the other helping secure Liam, who is placed on his hip. “You want some fruit, bubs?”
“Bananas!” Liam grabs his dad’s ear, an odd habit he has picked up in the last few days.
“How do we ask things?”
“Bananas, please.” Liam corrects himself, smiling at his dad.
“That’s my boy,” Jake praises him, kissing his cheek. “Let’s go eat some bananas, with mama and dada.”
“You know what? I think I’m gonna stay for a bit.” Cyclone says, walking away from you and sitting down next to Mickey, who glances your way and pulls down his glasses, wide eyes asking what he can’t say aloud.
“Did he just invite himself?” Reuben asks, carrying a kid in each arm.
“Yep. Just like that.” You mutter, cleaning the sand off Liam’s feet.
“I swear to God that this man becomes more insufferable each day.”
“¿Qué cojones hace Cyclone aquí?” Mickey asks Phoenix, who just shrugs. (What the fuck is Cyclone doing here?)
“Ni idea. Pero parece que nadie le quiere aquí. ¿Se ha invitado él solo?” She answers him, glancing at Cyclone, who is trying to play with Ted, who is still very unbothered by his presence. (I don't know. But seems that nobody wants him here. Has he invited himself?)
“¿Este huevón está intentando conquistar a Roja?” (This asshole is trying to win Red over?)
“Eso creo.” (I think so)
“Voy a enseñarle a no meterse con las mujeres de otros.” Mickey clears his throat. “Hey, Red. You were about to tell us how you and Jake met.” (I'm gonna show him to not mess with other people's women)
“Oh no, please. That’s my most embarrassing story” Jake hides his face in Liam’s hair, who has fallen asleep. He’s wearing his dad’s t-shirt as a blanket, covering his body so he doesn’t get sunburned.
“Now I need to know,” Payback laughs while applying more sunscreen to Ava’s face.
“So, we met 5 years ago…” You begin, making Jake groan. You continue with a devilish smirk. “We were all in Pensacola, I just arrived and went to a bar, it was supposed to be an aviator bar, and I wanted to meet the locals and see who was gonna be my workmates.”
“Let me say that me and Red met at Top Gun, but we never met after that until that day.” Phoenix continues, filling in some details important to your story.
“Yeah, that’s right. Well, so I entered this bar…”
“The Cubi?” Mickey asks.
“Yeah, that one! It’s like a museum.”
“And the first thing she saw was me, the hottest girl at the pub.” Phoenix chimes in.
“Well, that was until Red walked in.” Jake points out, and you feel the heat rise to your cheeks.
“The thing is that I walked into the bar and talked for a while with Nat; she left to look for someone, and that’s when Hangman, in the flesh, decided to try his luck.”
Jake lifts a finger to interrupt. “In my defense, when I saw you, I had a feeling that you were a special girl, and that I shouldn’t waste my opportunity, or someone else would take you away from me.”
“I would have been that one.” Rooster comments, making you jump. You thought he had fallen asleep.
“Buddy, you should shut up before your right eye ends up like the left one.” Jake warns, making you snort. These two need to stop fighting. “Anyway, the more I talked to her, the more I noticed this feeling. It was something that I had never felt before. I was amazed by her beauty, her smile, and just her general aura.”
“But there was a problem!” Javy speaks with a mysterious tone. They are enjoying this so much.
“What problem? Please, tell me you didn’t have a boyfriend.” Mickey gasps, covering his mouth.
“I didn’t tell him I was an aviator, and he was bragging about his job.”
“No shit.”
“Language” Payback, Jake and you scold at the same time.
“Aaaah huevón, sigue.”
“Translation: Please, go on.” Reuben explains, and you shake your head.
“I know he didn’t say that.”
“You know Spanish?”
“The basics, I guess.”
You look at Cyclone, who has been oddly silent since the story began. His eyes are hidden behind his sunglasses, and you can’t know for sure what he’s thinking. Not that you care, honestly.
“Anyway, where were we?” Javy tries to remember.
“Jake being horny.” You signal, earning a nudge from the blonde man. “Auch.”
“Did I ever insinuate that I wanted to have a one-night stand with you?” Jake pushes his glasses down his nose, looking at you. Yeah, he’s telling the truth. There’s no way those emerald eyes can hide anything from you.
“Well, not really...” Now that he brings that up, it’s true. He was flirting like the world was ending the next day, and you were enjoying every second of it. Jake was a bit more egotistical back then, and he sure thought that he was the best pilot to ever enter the Naval Academy, but there was something that attracted you. His confident smile, maybe? The way he leaned closer to you whenever you talked, so he didn’t miss a single word? How he made you feel like the only girl in the bar? But not once did he try to get in your pants. “Wait, we spent the next three months being friends with benefits!”
Jake shrugs, kissing Liam’s head. “It was the only way you allowed me to be with you. So I took the only chance I had.”
“You literally fell in love with her that night,” Reuben says, lifting an eyebrow as if it were so unbelievable.
“Damn right.”
You cover your face in embarrassment. “Now I feel like an idiot.”
“You were as in love with him as he was.” Nat rolls her eyes, eating another grape. “But denial ain’t just a river in Egypt, you know.”
“Shut up.” You groan.
“But how did you two end up dating?” Mickey insists, wanting to know the entire story.
You tell him how much tension grew during those three months between the two of you. The first weeks of your relationship were more physical. Making out at every possible moment and ending up at the back of his car or in your house or anywhere there was a solid surface. Sometimes all you needed was a wall. Jake has always been a strong man.
Somewhere between the first and second month, Jake started to stay with you in bed the morning after. Sometimes it led to a second or third round. Sometimes it led to shower sex. But the majority of the time, you two ended up having random conversations, your limbs tangled between his and your white sheets. You didn’t know where your arm ended and where his began. And you couldn’t care less. It was one of those mornings when you discovered that Jake smiles in his sleep. It was something only you and not anyone else knew, because, from what you’ve heard from Bradley, he was never one to stay the night.
But he always stayed with you.
Random pillow talks turned into him waking up before you to make you breakfast. He always tried to finish it before you woke up, but it was futile. The bed wasn’t as warm without him.
Breakfast led to romantic dinners. Movie dates. Endless cuddling sessions. Looking for each other at the bar. Becoming his wingman. Being glued together every single waking second you could spend together. His hand was always on the small of your back, or your thigh, whenever he was talking to someone, as if he wanted to mark you as his for any idiot who dared to look your way.
It was only a matter of time before that tension, those unsaid feelings that both of you had, became a problem.
“So you were basically together.” Mickey sums up all you just told him in one single sentence, and somehow that makes you laugh like a maniac.
“The only ones who didn’t know were them” Rooster deadpans, getting a red popsicle from the cooler.
“And you never tried to be with somebody else?” Reuben inquires, casting a quick glance at Cyclone.
“Why would I look around and search for another thing when I had everything I wanted right there?” You simply answer, making a corner of Jake’s lips lift.
“I just didn’t know if she felt the same as I did.”
“How did you find out?” Mickey questions again, and you notice him typing a lot on his phone. You're not sure if he’s taking notes for Bob or actually sending him texts with the most interesting parts of your story.
“We got into a fight.”
If you tighten the string too much, it will eventually snap. That’s what happened with you and Jake. Fear, jealousy, and love all mixed up together. It wasn’t pretty. You two ended up screaming at each other in a parking lot outside a bar. Jake implied that you were more interested in Rooster than in him back then. It was the final straw for you. You called it off and walked out of the bar, but Jake followed you.
“I literally said, ‘I hope to never see you again.’” You admit it, shifting Jake's t-shirt to reveal Liam's sleepy expression. He smiles when he sleeps, too.
"But you worked together," Mickey says, leaning in closer, as if engrossed in a fairytale.
“I was gonna ask for a relocation.”
You left that parking lot and called a taxi to bring you back home. Your tears started to fall at the same time the first raindrops fell on the window of the backseat. Once you got home, as much as you wanted to fall asleep and forget everything that had happened, someone you loved so much—someone you would literally leave everything behind if he asked you to—said that you were more interested in Rooster than in him.
You sigh, remembering that painful night. “And then someone knocked on the door.”
“I didn’t ring the bell in case you were in bed already.”
“Thank God I wasn’t asleep, then.” You whisper to yourself, but he has heard you. A part of you wants him to hear it. A part of you is wondering how you ended up here talking about the most important and agonizing relationship in your life. Those were good memories, though.
You want to be able to remember them whenever you want to.
You opened that door, your heart clenching at the sight that waited for you on the other side. He was standing there, drenched from head to toe, his nose and eyes red from crying.
Yeah, Jake Seresin was a man who cried. And he wasn’t ashamed to do it in front of you.
“What did he say?!”
“Mickey, you’re too invested in this story.” Javy mocks him, patting his head.
“I said ‘You’re bossy. You enjoy knowing that you’re better than me in every single aspect, and you're proud of yourself for it. You always have that stupid smirk on your face that makes me want to kick your ass. And yet, I can’t imagine my days without that smirk, without that smile you reserve just for me, or having to live one day without you. It took me a while to realize it, but I love you. And I want to have a serious relationship with you.”
You’re not surprised he remembers every word.
“What did you say?!”
“I smacked him for calling me bossy. And after that, I kissed him. He proposed a year after.”
“It was a beautiful wedding,” Rooster says, finishing his popsicle. “I cried at the first dance.”
“What song did you choose?”
"Make you feel my love," you both say at the same time, sad smiles on your faces, the memory hurting more than you want to admit.
Only five months after that first dance, your story ended.
“You know... most of us thought that you two eloped and got married in Vegas.” Reuben admits not expecting that part of the story at all.
“Javy was the best man. Nat, the bridesmaid. You could have asked.” Rooster says, and Mickey and Payback look at him, blinking in sync, as if that idea had never crossed their minds.
Nat’s eyes bore into your face, as if she were aware of the sudden mood change. “Red, can you come with me to the Hard Deck? I need to go to the bathroom.”
“Oh, yeah, sure.” You kiss Liam’s head. “Take care of him.”
“I think I’m gonna take a nap, too.” Jake informs you, and you move the parasol so none of them are under the sun.
“I’ll be back in a minute.”
“I think I’m gonna leave, too. It’s been nice to see you outside of work and know more about our new member. See you tomorrow!” And just like that, Cyclone walks in the other direction, leaving all of you with puzzled expressions.
“Penny, my love, get us two shots of tequila,” Nat says once she enters the bar.
“Of course, sweetheart.” She waves at you before leaving to get your drinks
“You liar, you didn’t need the bathroom.”
“I wanted to get you out of there before you ended up kissing Jake.”
You gasp. “I wasn’t going to kiss Jake!”
“Honey, you two have been moving closer and closer when you were telling that story. Cyclone took notice as well. He won’t flirt with you anymore, I hope.”
“He is not flirting with me, dear lord; Nat don’t imagine things.” You thank Penny when she comes back with the drinks. You both cheer and drink them in one shot.
“You wish Jake was the one flirting with you.”
“Talking about the past brought a lot of memories and feelings to the surface.” You mumble under your breath.
“Honey, be honest. Do you still love him?”
Sighing, you pull your dog tags out of your sundress and show them to her. At first, she looks at them and doesn’t understand what you want to show her. Then she notices a weird sparkle. Dog tags don’t sparkle.
“Oh my fucking god.”
Yeah, dog tags don’t sparkle.
But engagement rings do.

I entered my legacy sim Rhiannon in adelarsims' Spellcasting Tournament and it made me want to share the rest of her family and friends. The immortals of my legacy have kinda become their own sub-legacy within that save that now includes the Vatores and Morgyn in their own household, with their own family, as a secondary cast of characters. So, this is that.
The Grim-Jeong Household:
Iris Scott-Jeong: Daughter of Isaac Wilburn-Jeong, a Gen 4 spare from my legacy, and his wife Talia Scott. Met her husband when he came to reap her elderly parents and she somehow managed to befriend him. He became kind of her only friend in the world after her parents died, which blossomed into a romance. Studied spellcasting intensely until she was finally able to grant herself immortality to spend eternity with the love of her life. Currently runs a magic supply shop that was previously owned by her grandparent Ronan.
Thanatos Grim: The Grim Reaper. Well, technically, he's only *a* grim reaper-- there are others. A loving but stoic father/grandfather. Really good at woodworking, for some reason.
Hecate Grim-Jeong: Eldest child of Iris and Thanatos. Runs a small jewelry-making business and creates the most sought-after magical accessories in the realms. Exists as a mediator between her complete opposite, ideologically-opposed brothers, refusing to take life too seriously but also adamant about caring and finding meaning in the world around her. She studies magic under Iris to enhance her jewelry-making projects and is the second most powerful spellcaster in the family after her mom, who calls her "Catie".
Hypnos Grim-Jeong: Middle child of Iris and Thanatos, and the older of their twin sons. Forced to work at Iris' shop to help pay the bills, but would rather be out partying 24/7. Extremely irresponsible, despite being a father (whoops). Wants nothing to do with the death business or magical studies, and thinks that eternity should be spent caring as little as possible.
Chronos Grim-Jeong: Youngest child of Iris and Thanatos by fifteen minutes. The only child to follow in Thanatos' footsteps as a soul reaper, likely because he was the only sibling born without spellcasting abilities. A very eccentric and strange man who delights in being weird and incomprehensible. Takes his job very, very seriously, and tries to philosophize everything.
Valentina Vatore: Wife of Chronos and youngest daughter of Lilith Vatore. Spends her days holed up in the basement, making art. Has a lot of conflicting feelings about being a vampire; she doesn't want to be ashamed of what she is, but has long struggled with the guilt of hurting people in order to survive. She and the immortal Chronos are a perfect match, because she can reliably drink from him without the fear of over-draining. He's also the only person she feels comfortable showing her monstrous dark form to.
Rhiannon Grim-Jeong: Daughter of Hypnos and a woman he had a one-night stand with. Hypnos didn't realize he had a kid until Chronos showed up one day to reap a single young woman who died in a freak Cowplant accident, and discovered she had some underwear that belonged to Hypnos, a wristband for his favorite club, and an extremely pale infant with a very threatening aura. Hypnos took her in afterwards but wasn't really suited for fatherhood, so his parents, siblings, and sister-in-law essentially did 90% of the job of raising her. Thinks her dad is kind of a loser, but her aunts are cool as hell. Currently striving to become a Robin Hood-style master thief and slowly developing something close to a friendly relationship with Hypnos.
Macrantha "Mac" Mizuno-Barakat: Descendant of Iris' long-deceased cousin, and live-in gardener/groundskeeper for the Grim-Jeongs. Strange Plant-sim who was created in the Strangerville lab. Her adoptive mother is responsible for killing her biological mother, the Mother Plant, when Mac was a baby, which is... kinda awkward, but shockingly didn't traumatize her nearly as much as you'd expect. Also works part-time at Iris' shop. Best friends with Rhiannon.
Sweetie Pie, The Undying One (or just "Sweetie"): Thanatos' loyal black hound. A very good girl.
Butter: The family's spectral cat, adopted by Iris during a stroll through the graveyard on a trip to Brindleton Bay. In life, he belonged to Pol. Tech 9 Smith and his family.
The Ember-Vatore Household:
Caleb Vatore & Morgyn Ember: You know who they are. Hot, gothy, married.
Magdalene Ember-Vatore: Daughter of Caleb and Morgyn. Created accidentally through a magic mishap. Self-employed as an alchemist/artificer who makes strange magical machines. Stressed out 24/7.
Lilith Vatore: You know who she is too. Has three vampire daughters with various mortal men who she didn't particularly care about-- she just wanted a big, happy vampire family.
Karissa Vatore: Eldest daughter of Lilith and essentially the black sheep of the family. Really the Colin Robinson of the family, honestly. She keeps her vampirism and family a well-kept secret, using a fake surname at her office job and only progressing her vampire mastery to mask any and all of her vampiric traits. The more she fits in with the normal sims, the better, but every night she still returns to her home life of chaos and freakishness. Best friend of Hecate.
Katya Vatore: Middle daughter of Lilith who is obsessed with being the ultimate vampire. Melodramatic, hedonistic lesbian goth who can usually be found sipping plasma out of a tacky overly-ornate chalice. Best friend of Hypnos.
Prometheus: magical robot created by Magdalene.
Bonehilda: Live(?)-in housekeeper to the Ember-Vatores and romantic partner to Prometheus.
Shelley: Morgyn's undead cat familiar.
Others:
Nemesis Grim: sister to Thanatos, and also a soul reaper. Surprisingly un-antagonistic, despite the name. Likes to visit her brother's family and is currently recruiting niece Hecate to investigate the mysterious Ambrosia Society.
(Huge thank you to @nefarrilou for the custom reaper tutorial that made Aunt Nem possible and gave me a way to play the Reaper Rewards event without breaking my in-game lore)

Please may I have a Blue exorcist scenario of when you *female reader* (she is Yukio's wife and she is Yukio's childhood friend and Rin's because she knew them for a long time. She is half angel and she literally has wings and she is a skilled Paladin and a skilled exorcist and she eventually became a mother to her two children, her son Shiro age 12- Shiro certainly looks like Yukio when he was a kid- and her daughter Yuki age 5 who looks more like her)..were told to shut up by your own daughter when you were talking to Rin on the phone. Shiro looked absolutely stunned at his sister's rudeness, he looked at her in surprise when the homework session was interrupted almost instantly *Yukio was helping his son with it because he was struggling with a part of it* in the kitchen. You were not impressed by her disrespectful attitude when you had to apologise to Rin on the phone..it would've been better if she asked you to move to a different room and you wouldn't have minded..you refused to knowledge her presence. Yukio ended up having to deal with it when he had to take Yuki to a separate room to tell her how wrong that was. Shiro felt awkward about the whole thing, considering that he is half angel..he can literally sense the tension that was in the room and you were angry and it was clear by how hard you were chopping the carrots..Shiro was wise enough to keep his mouth shut when he focused on his homework..you apologised for that when you noticed that he clearly looked scared of you..Shiro was nice about it..Yuki should've been nicer.
The reader is *FEMALE*
Yukio's son, Shiro was named after Yukio's foster Dad who died due to unforeseeable circumstances and Yukio's son certainly looks like Yukio when he was a kid..Shiro literally had wings too..
Hi! Thank you for your request! I hope you like the scenario!

When Yuki, you and Yukio's daughter, yells at you to shut up, there's a very important conversation that needs to happen. How will you, Yukio, and their other child, Shiro react to this outburst?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“So we were able to subdue the demon without needing to resort to more lethal methods.”
You held the phone to your ear with your shoulder, both hands occupied by the knife and vegetables resting on the chopping board in front of you.
On the other end of the phone, Rin, your brother-in-law, replied. “Glad to hear it. I know the Grigori aren’t too lenient with letting demons live so you did a good job of showing them that we don’t always have to kill them to keep people safe.”
You nodded, despite knowing Rin couldn’t see you. “I agree. There’s only so many demons we can kill before we start seeing it as our main purpose, instead of saving people.”
From behind you, you heard your daughter, Yuki, let out a loud sigh. Both of your children, Yuki and Shiro, and your husband, Yukio, were sitting at the dining table working on the kids’ homework. You hoped it was going well but if that sigh was anything to go off, you guessed there had been some hurdles.
“Anyway, we don’t have any scheduled call outs over the next few days so I’ve got my fingers crossed I’ll be able to get on top of some housewo-”
“Oh my gosh!” Yuki’s voice was loud and her declaration was immediately followed by a bang that you guessed was her slamming her hands down on the table. At five, she was just starting to embrace all of her emotions. “Shut up!”
The house fell silent. Even Rin was quiet on the other end of the phone.
You turned around to face your daughter, one hand still holding the knife, the other holding the carrot you had been about to chop. You locked eyes with your daughter, shocked by what had just come out of her mouth. She met your eyes with a steely defiance that took you by surprise.
“We’re trying to do our homework here and you’re just talking, talking, talking. No one cares. Shut up!”
You raised your eyebrows, turning your gaze on your other child. Shiro was staring at his sister, his mouth hanging open and his eyes wide. He glanced across at you and, as soon as he saw the barely concealed fury behind your eyes, he quickly turned his attention back to his homework.
You then looked across at Yukio who was already looking back at you. His expression was somewhere between shocked and concerned, clearly wondering what you would do next.
You looked back at Yuki who was still staring at you angrily. You opened your mouth, though what you were going to say you weren’t sure, when Rin spoke up from the other side of the phone.
“Hey, uh, you still there?”
You took a deep breath, turning back to the sink. “Yes, I’m still here Rin. Sorry about that.”
“You’re still talking?” Yuki’s voice was incredulous and still very loud.
You ignored her, keeping your focus on the carrot in front of you. “So how’s your schedule over the next few days.”
“Oh, you know. The usual.” You could hear the nervousness in Rin’s voice. He’d been on the receiving end of your anger only a handful of times and knew how terrifying you could be when you wanted to be. “Look, I’m going to go. Uh…don’t kill anyone.”
You lowered the phone from your ear and placed it down on the counter.
“Finally. Some peace and quiet.”
“Come with me for a minute Yuki.” Yukio’s voice was quiet but firm.
You heard Yuki hop down from her chair and follow her father out into the next room. You could almost feel Shiro’s purposefully silent presence behind you. He was a boy well in tune with emotions and he was almost certainly picking up on the tension of everyone who was currently in and had just left the room.
You continued chopping the carrot, putting slightly more force behind your moments than was strictly necessary.
“Yuki, what you just did was rude and disruptive.”
“I wasn’t the only one being rude.”
“I know there was a lot of noise while you were trying to concentrate on your homework and we’ll talk about trying to be quieter while you’re working but that’s no reason to tell anyone to shut up. That’s very rude.”
“How else was I supposed to make it quiet?”
Yukio sighed. “You could have asked me if we could move the homework to another room. Or we could have had a break until the phone call with Uncle Rin was finished.”
There was a long pause while Yuki considered this.
“Okay. I’ll try that.” Her voice was still petulant but you heard the beginnings of remorse in there.
“Let’s go back to Shiro and keep doing our homework. How does that sound?”
“Good. I want to finish my homework before dinner.”
You heard the two walk back into the kitchen and sit back down at the table. The tension was still palpable and you knew you were going to have to address the issue with Yuki directly.
But before you could even turn to face her, she spoke up. “I’m sorry I said shut up. I know it was rude. I was frustrated.”
You turned to look at your daughter, placing the knife down on the counter as you did. “I accept your apology. I’m also sorry. I know you were trying to concentrate on your homework and I was making a lot of noise talking to Uncle Rin.”
“Oh, thank goodness.” Shiro let out a deep sigh, “I really thought you were going to go crazy for a minute there.”
You laughed. “You should know I’d never do anything to hurt you two. I love you more than anything, even if you make me mad sometimes.”
“How about we all get back to what we were doing before?” Yukio had a gentle smile on his face as he looked around at his family, “Come on kids, otherwise we won’t get all this homework done before dinner.”
Finally saw Lisa Frankenstein and enjoyed it. I also have an opinion on who killed Lisa’s mom…
In my opinion after watching and listening to what people said and did, I would not be surprised if her stepmother did it, or was involved.
Her dad is either naive or is hyper aware unlike others around him, but doesn’t point things out.
He appears clueless when we see him ignoring situations and signs, but at the same time it’s as if he’s intentionally ignoring things and focusing only on things that matter to him.
Either they mean to have him an intentional clueless person that is for comedic effect alone, or that is only part of it.
It came to a point I wondered if Lisa’s mother had brought her father back as she did her own ‘creature’ and she just was able to fix him for the most part and why he seemed off when it came to emotions.
So in the end it felt at first comedic clueless, neurodivergent and finally maybe ‘creature’ before I settled on he may just be neurodivergent.
Now why I think the step mom may have done it.
We hear from her daughter that’s she’s been married several times. What we don’t know is if she divorced them or they passed.
Add she starts to point fingers and suggest a mental ward stay for Lisa and happens to be a psych ward nurse.
Lisa hasn’t acted out, but the stepmother paints it as if she’s been doing so the whole time.
She swooped in to marry the father shortly after his wife’s death.
Moves them to a different town. Even if she and her daughter have lived there, she is separating Lisa and her father from their friends and people who know them and would notice a sudden disappearance.
The stepmom ‘happens’ to get ‘ill’ and threaten Lisa and I think she would have made Lisa have to use self defense or she would have lied that Lisa lashed out at her to put Lisa away.
Without Lisa around and her own daughter busy with cheer and ‘other things’, she’d be alone with her new husband.
Thus something happens and hubby dies, all his money goes to her as Lisa is stated unfit to receive it and take care of herself.
Even if it goes to Lisa, she could still become the one in charge of the money as holder and break laws to use it not for Lisa but herself.
A psych nurse would not make enough money for a nice house or to have diamond earrings, unless they’re an heirloom, but she promised hers to her daughter as if it was nothing.
One could say she just uses her daughter to make money at beauty pageants, but even then that wouldn’t be enough.
But interesting how the tanning bed is broken and never fixed or tossed.
If she knew that was busted she may not have cared much if someone should end up dead using it.
Though that makes one wonder if her daughter knew from the start or not it didn’t work and let Lisa go in intentionally.
She plays off hard to tell if she’s mean or not.
But in the end I think she may have been genuine, but also still sabotaging things for Lisa when it came to the boy they both liked.
We never see her actually try and hurt Lisa, but encourage her.
Sometimes she’s not good with her words and how to say or do things right, but she apologizes as soon as she knows she screwed up.
So in the end I think she cared about Lisa genuinely, were as her mother didn’t.
The stepmom was planning to get rid of Lisa from the start and never held back her venom against her.
Even her own daughter called her a bitch.
This, I think she killed Lisa’s mom. She didn’t kill Lisa, but planned to get rid of her in a mental ward or if she got lucky the tanning bed. (Though that is more plot device for other things and a guess she could have heard Lisa was going to use it).
We are shown a flashback of the murder, but we could say we can’t rely on what we’re seeing as it’s told by the step sister and imagined by her audience.
If Lisa ran and hide as told and didn’t come out until the cops came, she very well may not have seen the killer well enough outside of the mask, and if the mask was actually worn.
Lisa alone survived, but was mute for a good time.
So the killer seems to be only focused on Lisa’s mom as they don’t look for her and left.
Either in person or by proxy, I believe the Stepmom did it.
Unpopular RWBY Opinions
Some of these things are incorporated into my reimagined RWBY AU(not all of them) and my original stories
1. Arkos, BlackSun, Iceberg, and Renora should have survived and get a happy ending, I don’t give a damn about Pyrrha’s name or allusion.
2. RWBY didn’t have to be a super dark epic, it’s become pretentious. Maybe more akin to Star Wars or Justice League Unlimited
3. Adam should have just been an initial antagonist who doesn't commit super horrible things, the psycho abusive ex was melodramatic and dumb. Wether he joins the good guys or ends tragically is up to anybody.
4. Maybe we were better off without the Salem/Ozma conflict and have WTCH as individual arc villains with their own minions
5. I think Roman, Cinder, and their gang should have been just morally grey found family characters like Boba Fett, some kind of gang of thieves akin to those in Baccano or something and just help or hinder the cast like Team Rocket or something but not as silly.
With Cinder and Roman becoming a couple and kinda like a "Gomez and Mortica" pair and Emerald and Merc hooking up, and Emerald and Neo would be like their daughters and Merc the son-in-law. I might recycle that idea for one of my original stories thats inspired by Skullgirls and Baccano who's protagonist sis something of an Anti-Cinder and an Anti-Torchwick with a ragtag gang fighting against a corrupt government run by a demonic-powered mafia.
6. Maybe RWBY could have been more like a Dragonball/Fairy Tail universe instead in terms of tone and narrative structure, and that wouldn’t have been a bad thing.
7. At the very least, Ozma and Salem could have been an explanation of the origin of the world and just something that would be rediscovered overtime and Ozpin and his circle are some keepers of ancient myth or something. Like The Jedi Order or The Time Lords or something idk.
8. Kinda feel Oscar wasn’t necessary, as much as I like him
9. Maybe the corrupt SDC and Bad Dad Jacques was also needless, maybe just one of the few good underdog companies in Atlas and Jack being initially a bit too hard on Weiss due to upholding the family’s honor and chivalry but means well and initial harsh nature involving his wife, a scientist who worked with Dr.Watts and Dr. Poldenia, being murdered at the hands of an anti-Faunus milita group and Watts having some role in it. Mostly because I'm just exhausted of the "Bad Dad" trope
10. Have Watts have a megacorporation and be the corrupt company in Atlas instead who’s responsible for their tech and uses unethical Faunus labor in his factories(even though in secret Watts just hates everybody) instead and have a bitter rivalry with Jacques and The SDC, especially due to Jack and Arthur’s personal history regarding Mrs.Schnee.
11. Hazel should have just been a Meta-Knight like character, a good guy but on nobody’s side with a grudge against Ozpin for understandable reasons, he has bear claw-like gauntlet weapons, and becomes a rival to Yang seeing his sister in her and is the “Papa Bear” to her “Goldilocks”
12. Bumbleby is a bad ship and it’s fandom are filled with bitter shrews who use it as representation despite how toxic it is.
13. Disagreeing with Monty’s vision isn’t inherently malicious.
14. I agree with @sytokun making Blake basically a Princess and have loving parents who are also influential was also dumb. Make her an Orphan with the WF/Team RWBY her found family instead. Or I would at least give her a “dead dad” with her Mom living in Menagerie but not as a “Chieftess” aka a QUEEN. They called themselves Cheiftan and Chieftess because it sounded cute.
BEHOLD MY PJO/HOO ORIGINAL CHARACTER
This wonderful artwork was done by @justanotherpersonsuniverse they're a wonderful artist and writer whose works I enjoy a ton. If you're into miraculous ladybug, Splatoon, or good art and vibes in general I would guide you towards their blogs.
This is Bellerophon Heimbald, sometimes called Camp Half-Blood's Benchwarmer Hero, but most of their friends just call them Bell
A strong wielder of They/Them pronouns, Bell is a child of Euphrosyne, goddess of mirth, merriment, and joy.
Alright, this post is a little long, so ima make a break here. Bellow this is more stuff about the OC and some semi-relevant rants on greek myth lore
They changed their name to Bellerophon because they were Bell before but wanted a less gender specific full name. Also, Bellerophon is Bell's favorite Greek hero because they really love horses and pegasi, and dream of one day riding on Pegasus, the majestic flying god-horse.
Bell gets super fucking jealous of Reyna.
Bell made the unique decision to declare themselves as a Champion of Hestia, a title and role that notably doesn't exist. Despite this, Bell stubbornly insists on their role as a protector of homes and families. They will insist on being sent on, or sometimes sneak out to go on, quests relating to saving the families of her friends and fellow campers. Such endeavors include, but are not limited to, 'my godly step mom kidnapped my Mom for having too many kids with her husband', 'My Dad keeps sending me bloodstained notes and his fiancé says he hasn't left the house since I left for camp', or 'the Titan Army kidnapped my mortal siblings because I'd been feeding them false info while pretending to spy for them'. Bell will also eventually be accepted as Hestia's Champion and will be sent on quests to solve squabbles between the gods that have really been killing the vibe on Olympus. Things such as 'My husband thinks I'll fall for this shit again so I made a doll to replace him', 'That bitch banged my daughter and I might start a war over it', or 'oh fuck I lost the moon'.
The PJO storyline spans many years and this is only a screenshot of time for Bell's character. They're about 16 in this art, at around the time of The Battle of the Labyrinth book.
Bell's godly parent is not a well known goddess, Euphrosyne is one of the Charities, a trio of goddess siblings who serve as Aphrodite's attendants. The best way I can relate who she is is that she's the daughter of the Titaness of water-meadows, Eurynome, who raised Hephaestus after he was baby-tossed off Olympus by Hera. Her father is of course Zeus, though it might not have been adultery. Hesiod claimed that Eurynome was Zeus's third wife after Metis, who he absorbed, and Themis, who Zeus divorced after birthing at least 2 (possibly 3) sets of triplet goddesses. One set of those triplets was the wrinkly goddesses now known as the fates, who scared their parents so much that Zeus got a divorce and Themis stopped having kids and went to law school or something or other.
In any case, my point is that Bell's demigod powers aren't flashy or destructive like the show's main cast. Bell can innately sense when those around them feel positive emotions, a kind of joy empathy radar. They can also induce and amplify positive feelings in others, though its not effective most of the time. Their only other powers include a slightly dulled sense of pain and a resistance to poisons.
A few years into their story, Bell will end up gaining the blessing of Hestia's hearth fire. This blessing grants Bell several powers that are all defensive due to the nature of Hestia and her flames. Bell's wounds will instantly cauterize in battle and heal faster after the battle is done. Poison has way less effect on Bell, combines with their poison resistance from their demigod powers this essentially makes them immune to all non-divine poisons. Their regular body temp is also increased to around 107°F, making them very popular with the Hypnos kids during winter months. This obviously grants an aspect of fire resistance to Bell, but not immune like Leo, at about the same level as Hephaestus kids.
That spear is their primary weapon, a cross shaped Japanese style spear that Bell found wrapped up in the camp armory. It also happens to have been cursed by the man who forged it and is a very dangerous object.
That leather bracelet is actually a size changing celestial bronze shield in it's smallest size, a small disk of metal attached to the leather arm strap. It was gifted to Bell by their mother Euphrosyne. It was forged by Hephaestus, who was convinced to make the shield by his wife, Aglaia, who is also one of the Charities. Aglaia didn't just do that as a favor for her sister though, but that's not super important.
Yes, Hephaestus got remarried canonically, in both mythology and described in Percy Jackson's Greek Gods.
Bell is the main character of a PJO fanfic story I've been creating with my best friend. Though, while Bell may be the main character of their story, they are ultimately a side character in the PJO/HOO stories. My goal for Bell's story is that that it's written into the sidelines of the story the book tells, this story is the one that happens when Percy is off on his quests, or during the non-summer months when most characters are with their families, or in the gaps of time between books. I'm having a ton of fun developing a story like this, filling in the background of an already great story.
I've been writing and developing Bell's story, as well as a couple other OCs of mine, for about the past 6 months or so and this is the first time its being seen publicly. I've been trying to write a whole book/questline of story before releasing as my current fanfics update one every blue moon and I feel bad about it.
This is only 1 of the 4 Camp Half-blood OCs i have for this story and, even further, only 1 of the 10 OCs I plan to put story focus on throughout my whole plotline. Hyperfixation went crazy.
Alright I think that's enough random powers, no-context plot points, and Greek myth lore rants for one post. Ima hit the post button now but again go check out @justanotherpersonsuniverse their stuff is amazing
Road to 4☆TOWN
part 41 | part 42 | part 43
Robaire stared at the ring in awe. “Wow…” he looked back at Jesse. “I didn’t think he liked you that much.”
“Neither did I!” Jesse responded. “Ever since Selina got pregnant again, he’s just been wanting to kill me.” Jesse took the ring back from Robaire. “But apparently he thinks I’m son-in-law material.”
“Well aren’t you?” Robaire raised an eyebrow. “You’ve been taking care of his daughter and grandchildren for years and you’re practically the definition of a family man.”
“I know, I know.” Jesse sighed and leaned back. “For so long now, I’ve wanted nothing but to finally call her my wife. But the label…they’d never let us do it for real.” He groaned and buried his head in his hands. “Ughhh, I don’t know what to do.”
Robaire stared at his friend quietly for a moment. “You said in the group chat that you know how you’re gonna do it right?”
“Yeah, I’ve been planning it for ages.” Jesse picked his head up. “But we still—“
“Look, it doesn’t matter if you can or can’t get married right now. What matters is you love her and you know one day you’ll be married for real.” Robaire reminded him. “So why not just go for it?”
Jesse blinked in confusion. “Go for…what?”
“Propose.” Robaire shrugged. “It’ll show her you’re committed, it’ll be a nice surprise for her, and you’ll get her dad off your back. It’s a triple win situation.”
Jesse thought about what Robaire said, and he couldn’t find a single flaw with the plan. “Yeah, you’re right.” Jesse smiled. “Thanks, man. It’s so good to have you back.”
Robaire smiled back. “It’s good to be back.”
———
“Hey, babe.” Jesse said as he left the bedroom. “What’re you doing up so early?”
Selina laughed. “Sleeping with a soccer ball as a stomach isn’t very comfortable. Especially when the little goalie inside keeps using my bladder as a pillow.” She rolled her eyes. “I just gave up on sleeping at some point.”
Jesse stared at her for a moment. “Well…we’re both here now, so I might as well give you the thing.”
“Thing?” Selina looked at him in confusion. “What thing?”
“Oh, I got you a little something. Just cuz.” Jesse shrugged as he handed her what appeared to be a copy of her favorite book.
“Awwww, The Catcher in the Rye.” Selina smiled brightly. “I haven’t seen this book since I accidentally left my copy in the library at school and they thought it was theirs.” She paused. “That was a rough English final…”
“I think it’s funny how that incident went hand-in-hand with my stupid pick-up line.” Jesse chuckled. “I’m still so lucky you thought it was cute.”
“Yeah well, everything you do is cute.” Selina cupped his cheek. “Like leaving your old library card in here to bookmark a p—…” Her eyes got wide when she opened the “book” and discovered it was a box. “Jesse…what’s this?”
“So I know we said we can’t actually get married until 4☆TOWN disbands, but…I know if things were a little different, we wouldn’t be waiting.” Jesse said quietly. “I mean, I’ve been planning this since the first time I heard your adorable laugh. I was supposed to take you to that playground from our prom night, but obviously we can’t leave Marcel so…” he took a deep breath. “Selina, you’re the best thing that ever happened to me. And you’ve given me the greatest gifts I could ever receive.”
“I gave you one.” Selina stopped him. “The other one is still a work in progress.”
“Yeah, but neither of them would be possible without you.” Jesse put a hand on her belly. “And don’t make a joke about how it’s technically still possible without you because the only reason any of this makes sense is because it’s you and me.”
Selina giggled. “You know me so well. You practically read my mind.”
“And what a beautiful mind it is.” Jesse stared at her with hearts in his eyes. “I love literally everything about you. I love the way your eyes light up when you hear the word ice cream and how hard you’re trying to like spinach so Marcel has a good example. I love how your voice cracks when you’re singing him a lullaby, and how sometimes you laugh a little too hard so milk comes out of your nose.”
“Oh my god, stop bringing that up.” Selina blushed. “It’s super embarrassing every time it happens.”
“Well, I happen to think it’s adorable.” Jesse assured her. “I love the way you know you could take on the world as long as there are no bugs in your way.” They both laughed. “And I love those stretch marks on your body. It drives me crazy that you hate them because to me they’re the sexiest, most beautiful marks in the world. They remind me of what you gave for our son.”
Selina was quiet for a moment. “I need you to stop.” She sniffled. “It’s too early in the morning to be crying like this.”
“Oh yeah sure.” Jesse shrugged. “We’ll just pick this up later. I’ll just take this back then—”
Selina chuckled and smacked his hand away. “Don’t even.” She held the box so he couldn’t take it. “If you’re gonna make me laugh-cry before 8AM, you’re gonna finish your damn speech.”
“Okay, okay, fine.” Jesse said with a stupid grin. “I can’t tell you exactly when this stage of our relationship will end, but I promise it’s gonna be over at some point because I love you and I’m gonna spend the rest of my life with you no matter what.” He took the ring box out of the fake box and got on one knee in front of her. “Will you, Selina Cruz, wear this ring and get your dad to leave me the hell alone?”
Selina burst out laughing. “How is it that you never fail to make me laugh like this?”
“Because it’s always worth it to see your smile.” Jesse said sweetly. “But can you please answer me? This carpet is kinda uncomfortable.”
“Oh right.” Selina shook her head. “Yes, I’d love to shut my dad up if it means I’ll get to marry you one day.”
“Perfect. Just what I wanna hear.” Jesse said as he put the ring on her finger. He leaned in and kissed her deeply.
“I know we can’t actually get married yet, but this just makes it feel more real.” Selina couldn’t contain her excitement. “And is this my grandmother’s ring? How’d you even get this from my dad? He treasures it.”
“Carmelo brought it over the other day as a sign of approval.” Jesse took her hand. “This is actually what he was pestering me about when we were over there. I figured he wasn’t gonna stop until I gave it to you, and honestly I feel a lot better now that I have.” He wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her closer. “As if having two kids wasn’t enough for us to start our future, now I have a f-fiancé. Oh my god…” He realized what he just said.
“Oh…you’re not my boyfriend anymore, are you?” Selina blushed. “We’re like…engaged to be married. Like for real for real.”
They stared at each other awkwardly.
“I-I’m gonna check on Marcel.” Selina got up. “You know how nervous he gets when he wakes up alone.”
“Yeah, yeah. That’s cool.” Jesse refused to look at her. “I’ll, uh…I’ll get started on some tea.”
“Good.” Selina nodded. “Great.”
“Yup.”
There was a moment of awkward, yet sentimental silence.
“Jesse?” Selina smiled at him.
He finally looked at her. “Hmmm?”
“I love you.”
Jesse chuckled at how cute his fiancé is. “Yeah. I love you, too.”
