#I have bitten off more than I can chew

Just a colored sketch page for now, no rendering. Russian dragons. Not up to scale (don’t trust that visual on the right)

Of these, only the Russian Gray and Ironwing are named in the book (The Gray only in LoD). Both the Ironwing and Cossack dragon didn’t come with descriptions of any sort so I just winged it. Thoughts under the cut.

Russian Heavyweight - Big, green, and mean. Well, Vosyem was green, so this guy is green. Overlapping plates made me lean more on pangolin scales than thyreophoran but doing all the scales is killing me. I gave it a large nasal boss(I think thats the term?) to resemble the tapir-faced depictions of Zmei that had enraptured me since I was young.

The tortoise resemblance was not realized until after I colored everything, but theres only so many ways for long neck and humped back and thick rolls over shoulders read to me. Well, there’s the sauropod type but I prefer a more sprawling pose. I do want it a bit longer but I just like long dragons in general. Need to hold back on it. If everything is long then nothing is Long.

Russian Gray - Mostly gray and white with a narrow arrow-shaped head. They were described as stippled with spots of gray and black. I had on my notes that it was six to seven, but I lacked context on whether it was the number of individuals in the scene or its weight.

Heads being described as arrow shaped confuse me a little. Maybe my English is not good because I keep thinking it’s like… diplocaulus, which is NOT narrow. Yu-Lung, described with the same head shape, was also described to be vulpine, so that’s what I did here.

Russian Black - One of the other lightweights held in the Russian grounds along with the Russian Gray. Described as black dragons smaller than the Grays. Resembles the Russian couriers. Nothing much to say. Slavic dragons seem to be depicted with a crown every so often, so I gave it a crown of small horns.

Every time there’s a black dragon breed from Europe I keep remembering Laurence saying something about how there’s no black dragons known in Europe back when he was still a Naval captain.

Courier - Two red courier dragons were snoozing next to a flag. I’m inclined to think it’s a Russian breed, but it described the flag they were sleeping beside as white and red. Granted, I’m not really familiar with European history or flags. Maybe it’s a company flag?

Cossack - No description other than being courier weight or fly weight, the size of winchesters. Did you know that the Russian Don, cavalry horses of the Cossack, originated from Russian Steppe horses and Oriental breeds obtained from raids? I gave it a more camelid head, but didn’t want the horse inspiration to be too obvious. Not happy with the coloration just yet.

I kinda wanted it to be slightly bigger for some size variety, but it’s unlikely to be that much bigger than the other Russian lightweights. In the British (European?) weight system a flyweight is barely combat weight, isn’t it? So larger than courier weight but not that much…

Ironwing - Venomous. Thats it for textual description. Not much to go off of, so I put a lesser version of the heavyweight armor on it to help bridge the heavyweight to the others and slapped rusty iron colors. I wanted to give it some more resemblance(Is that the word?)for being an ancestor of the Longwing, so I gave it some familiar wing markings. Might add bone spurs but maybe I should keep that a sharpspitter thing.

Firstly, I’m going to have to say thank you for completing destroying my algorithms, considering I had to Google this song to know what the hell it was (the internet is weird and scary place sometimes). 😝

Secondly here’s my best guess:

Aziraphale sat at his desk calmly calculating his stocktake from the last month, whilst Crowley lounged in his usual place on the settee, mindlessly scrolling through his phone.

Then for the fourteenth time that day Crowley started humming an incessant tune that Aziraphale could finally no longer ignore. Slamming down his fountain pen Aziraphale turned to Crowley, “Really dearest, I must insist if you can’t find yourself another ear worm, could you at least go for a walk!”

Crowley growled as he stood up, “Fine! I’ll go see if the ducks want my company!” Grabbing his sunglasses with an overdramatic flourish, he strode across the bookshop floor and slammed the door on his way out. Although he wouldn’t admit it, Crowley was also frustrated with the unrelenting tune and made a point to hurl his phone into the lake when he stalked through St James Park.

Peace at last, Aziraphale returned to his accounts, when a sudden thought struck him, “I’ve never eaten a taco”. If he hurried perhaps he could catch up with Crowley and convince him to join him at that new Mexican bistro up the road.

So I've decided to take the plunge into ttrpg design by joining @binarystargames' Minimalist RPG Jam (which you can find on itch.io here, if you're interested in participating or in just seeing what is submitted). It's very exciting, and I'm looking forward to really truly designing my first game!

However, instead of doing something reasonable, like making a single page ttrpg, the only thing my brain is letting me think about is a combination of The Quiet Year and Free From The Yoke, where the players take on the role of being representatives in a democratic assembly in a city recently freed from the Evil Empire(tm).

My plan is to have two interacting stat systems, one representing the actual representatives and another representing the community they, well, represent. Additionally, I plan to have the game be GMless by using the same system as The Quiet Year to establish events that the players have to address that affect their community stats. All tied together using a PbtA-style moves.

I will occasionally be blogging about my process and stuff too, both to keep a record and make sure I'm keeping up with actually doing it and not just spinning my wheels.

We'll see how it turns out.

that is the question isn't it? who exactly is our MC, and why is she doing all this? a few things will be revealed in the next chapter, but not everything, as per the way of The Vaults ;) i adore her dynamic with logan already it's so fun to write something where they're not instantly in love with each other and to explore a more genuine, human growth. not that im not a fan of the whole "love at first sight" but that was pretty heavy in Phobophobia (my beloveds)

(also thank you it was super interesting to write a proper argument between the two of them and how they'd overcome slightly more mundane problems <3)

"Lonesome Cowboy" Dress-up Game Dev Log #01

So as some of y'all may be aware, I'm working on a little dress up game! I intend to publish it on meiker.io, so for legal reasons it totally isn't Arthur Morgan. Just some random cowboy that happens to look a lot like him. His name? Uhhhhhhhh.... Alfred Martin.... Yeah there we go that's his name yep mhm.

This is my first ever project like this, and I'm super excited to share it with y'all! I still have a long way to go as I want this to have a ton of customization, but I thought I would share what I have so far!

Here's the base I created. This is without anything added on top. I know the boxer-briefs aren't exactly period accurate, but I figured it would allow more room to work with than putting a union suit on his base model. I also gave him a farmer's tan to add a bit more character!

He has 4 hairstyles!

3 facial hair style sets plus 1 bonus moustache with the ability to mix and match!

Customizable body hair! (Arm and leg hair can be turned on or off according to preference ^u^)

Various skin details! So far I have face freckles, shoulder freckles, stretch marks, and a bullet scar on his left shoulder. Each of them are separate of course.

And finally what I think many people will be most excited about...

3 different binders plus some bandages. (DISCLAIMER: I do NOT endorse or recommend binding with anything other than a binder or trans tape! The inclusion of bandages is to simply provide a more period accurate option as modern chest binders as we know them did not exist in 1899. Please bind responsibly and safely!)
