I think depictions of Anya being cruel to Curly or drawing out his suffering are artful and chilling but completely miss the point of the story and her character.

I'm not saying she doesn't deserve to have that "I told you so" moment with him but not in something callous or cold. Even if that is how it happened, she'd immediately feel guilty cause at that point she's not tormenting her tormenter or even the person truly at fault. She's doing something cathartic, similar to how Jimmy likely hits Curly to release rage he can't against the rest of the crew. She'd see herself as no different when she'd come back from the moment and see Curly cowering at her. She wants someone to take responsibility but how does being cruel to the defenseless help? Why would she want the power Jimmy has over her over Curly?

The idea of her extending someone else's pain is just so against the struggles she already faces and how she can't even bring herself to cause someone pain even to help them. Her very desire is to release herself from her own suffering and I doubt she'd even fine some sort of guilty release in being cruel to another.

To be honest I think both, "Victor was a mentally ill teenager who had just lost his mother and was absolutely not in a good state of mind at the time of the creature's creation and is absolutely worthy of sympathy, especially for how ultimately a single moment ends up in his entire family being murdered." and, "Victor still created and (however unintentionally) abandoned a sapient being who he had the responsibility to care for and desecrated corpses in the process of making said creature, almost certainly without the consent of the original bodies nor their families," Can both be true at the same time.

Similarly, "Creature deserved to have someone care for and love him and he never would've done any of the morally abhorrent things he did had he simply been treated with the basic respect a living creature deserves," and, "Creature murdering innocent people, including a literal child, is inexcusable and how he was treated does not justify him taking it out on innocent people," are also both true.

as an angst lover myself who indulges often in slightly-not-so-canon creations for the sake of melancholy, i think the worst effect that the fandom's love of fanon angst has had is people fundamentally misunderstanding and misinterpreting dazai's relationship with akutagawa. but i don't think we're ready for this conversation yet

Using 'Deep Learning' as an example that Stan doesn't care about Wendy is a very wrong way to see that episode in my opinion. The right discussion is that Stan is immature as hell, and has a problem facing things.

I think a lot about the different reactions of Clyde and Stan. They are both in the same situation, but while Clyde is afraid of Bebe getting mad at him, Stan is worried about Wendy getting hurt. It's a very simple difference, but it says a lot about how they both saw things, mainly Stan. He is too sensitive and emotional, but this ends up clashing with his more negligent side. He doesn't want to hurt people, but he ends up being too defensive as well.

As I said, Stan is immature, and he and Wendy have had this problem for a long time. Does that mean he doesn't care or love her? I really don't think that's the case. Overall, it's the story of 10-year-olds living their lives, and if we go even deeper, Stan has a terrible example at home too. I genuinely think this is an issue that will change when they grow up lol

I don’t think some people consider what the consequences that could happen if Fox hadn’t killed Fives.

Fox had his orders and I doubt Palplatine is one to let it go if someone disobeys and considering most didn’t see the clones as people, no one would care about how they’re punished. It might not have just been Fox punished but also his men as a lesson.

Fox was trained to follow orders and that’s what he did. Fives was an acting crazy and then reached for his blaster even as Fox told him not to, yes he could have set it to stun but to be fair, Fives probably would have been executed.

Maybe Fox thought it better for Fives to die by his hand than a natborns.
