Thursday
Hey there! Remember me? I disappeared for a few days, but here we are again - get comfy, we’ll chat. Yesterday we climbed out of our rut (honestly, it’s a lovely rut) and pointed the car toward the mighty Atlantic Ocean. We decided to see what all the fuss is about Rehobeth Beach, and also to find a particular bookstore where David Sedaris will be signing on May 30th (we have tickets and I’m excited!). Rehobeth Beach is 48 miles from Denton, and it was a beautiful day for a drive - so off we went. I get it now. Wide beaches of clean sand, clear water, and a boardwalk that rivals any I’ve ever seen. Restaurants, arcades, and the shops, oh my, the shops! Did I take photos? Not many. I’ll have to raid whatever the mister snapped. I was too busy poking around in alleys like this.
Hundreds and hundreds of unique shops, really diverse dining options, and everything from scooter rentals to paddleboards. I knew exactly where we’d be having lunch when I saw this spot.
Go Fish, a true British fish & chips place. Mickey is a sucker for fish & chips. Me, not so much, but I figured there’d be something else on the menu. It was charming inside and The Beatles were playing on the sound system. All good signs.
We sat in a booth and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Mickey raved about the fish & chips and I had a hearty plate of bangers and mash. It made me glad I’d skipped breakfast.
After lunch we strolled down the main drag and found the bookstore, BrowseAbout Books. What a delightful store! Super friendly staff, eager with recommendations, an amazing inventory (even a wonderful children’s section), home decor, cards, tees, etc. I love a good independent bookstore.
They truly offer something for everyone. So we checked that off our list and we’ll be back there on May 30th.
The ticket includes a cop of the book, which I already have, so I’ll just have him sign my copy for Matt. Matt and I went to see David Sedaris in Nashville many years ago and had a ball. We gave him a rubber hand to sign. It made him laugh. If you know, you know. If you don’t, read this. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2003/03/10/whos-the-chef Anywayyyy, after exiting BrowseAbout Books we walked around, visited a few more shops, got a sweet treat (ice cream cone for Mickey, caramel popcorn for me) and headed home. The road west is lined with shopping opportunities and I asked the mister to pull into Home Goods. It’s my church and I’ve been missing services. I needed to fill my soul. And I did. It didn’t take much. I bought three small things.
A small picture frame to hold a sweet photo of Little Miss.
This adorable little bird who will keep me company in my spot on the porch.
There she is by the flowers, looking ready to burst into song.
And finally, these pretty bells to sway in the breeze - also for my spot.
A whole bag of happy for just $30. Did I need to spend it? No. DO these things make me smile and lift my heart? Absolutely yes. Some women drink wine, some spend a fortune on hair and nails, I buy birds and shiny things.
Speaking of birds, they love the new fence. I swear, our feathered visitors have increased since we put the fence up. The local cats can’t hide as well, so maybe they feel safer. Any way you slice it, I have more bird song and a prettier yard. Winning!
I took three of the containers that I normally use on porch railings and put them on the fence. I love it.
Feeders, a bath, and blooms. It’s birdie paradise. I’ll probably add some pink or red flowers to those containers, but I like them just fine so far. Stanley still stops by for a drink. I think he loves cool water with just a hint of bird butt.
Time to weedeat. So there ya’ have it, a little bit of happy from our patch to yours. I’m going to make a little lunch and go sit in my spot on the porch. It’s a good day for doing nothing. Sending out love. Stay safe, stay well. XOXO - Nancy

The Mortal Maiden: Witch!Jude
Chapter 4: A Trip Down Memory Lane
summary: Jude slapped herself hard. Her ears ringing from the blow. She furiously wiped the hot tears that had fallen, telling herself that she didn’t need the memories, that they made her weak. Jude was not one for nostalgia. She never would be. With her heart locked back in its armor she mounted her riding toad and kicked it to a start.
Rating: Mature but not explicitly till later chapters!
AN: this is a shorter chapter! it was supposed to be the end of the last one but it was too long so I extended it.
also no beta for this chapter tee hee
Ao3 Chapter 1 2 3 You are reading Ch 4
The stairwell let out at the stables just as Darnel had told her it would. She could tell by the color of the sky that it was late afternoon already and that dusk would be only a few hours off. She still needed to get to the spy’s keep, report to Dain, and then back into her bed before Tatterfell came to wake her for her classes.
She was running out of time.
Jude hides behind mounds of hay and horse feed as she waits for the stable hand to get near. Impatient, she throws a pebble into one of the horses’ pens, and the steed whines out. The half-fae immediately comes over to see what’s wrong but Jude gets him in a headlock before he can, pressing down on a pressure point. She holds him till he stops struggling and passes out, then drags his body behind the hay where he will either wake up or be discovered.
Jude eyes the horses wearily as she leaves, recalling the time in the mortal world when she was seven and was thrown from a horse the first time she had ever ridden one. The whole ordeal had left her scared of riding the beasts. At the time hadn’t been an issue since mortals used cars and public transit to get to places. Once she came to Elfhame, however, her slight phobia had become an issue since they were the main means of transportation. She can ride a horse fine now, but she still gets unsettled when they go too fast or get agitated.
As she makes her way into the woods, towards the fallen tree where she had hidden her riding toad, she thinks of how silly it was that her fears from her childhood remain with her even after she had grown accustomed to the horrors of fairyland. Jude could poison herself nightly, stand face to face with cruel princes and live in the same house as her parents’ killer without faltering… but she couldn’t ride horses too fast nor she couldn’t stand the sight of cockroaches. She can’t even get close enough to one of the bugs to kill it yet she has taken a life before!
Jude laughs to herself as she recalls a memory of her cowering on a table in the stronghold demanding that Oak kill one for her. He had looked at her like she had grown a third head and then became equally terrified of the bugs himself. He claimed that if Jude was scared of cockroaches then he absolutely wanted nothing to do with them; convinced that they must be creatures of unimaginable horror to be able to frighten her. Oriana had been furious at Jude for the whole debacle, claiming that she had planted the notion into his head and was purposefully trying to frighten him. Taryn and Vivi had laughed themselves hoarse at the whole thing as the mighty Grand General Madoc had to come to squash a bug for her. He helped her down from the table while eyeing the nub on her left hand, chuckling, ‘You can lose a finger and not say a word but you can’t squash a bug, my dear?’ She had laughed and placed a kiss on his cheek then asked if he was going to dip his cap into its guts to claim his kill. The whole family laughed together, Vivi had to wipe tears from her eyes. Once they were done laughing till their stomachs ached they had made their way to dinner. For a beautiful moment, they were all able to pretend that they were a normal family.
It was one of her fondest memories in fairyland; her heart squeezed at the warmth it brought her.
Jude started, wondering why she had even thought of it. The memory brought joy but always ended bitterly when she remembers why they will never be a normal family. She wasn’t one for nostalgia; more often than not it brought her nothing but pain and heartache. The stars must truly be in a foul mood tonight to make her remember.
She reached her riding toad, and pets the creature fondly; it was far more her speed than any horse would ever be. Jude had no problem riding one of these. Even when their large leaps and bounds were, by all means, more frightening than the steady trot of a horse. Jude would actually argue that riding one was thrilling, the terror making it all the more terrific. The toads did not frighten her… but horses still did.
All because of that one time when she was seven and her family had taken a road trip to a ranch…
Memories from the trip threatened to bubble up and consume her and Jude tried to force them down. She didn’t want to think of how her late parents had comforted and fussed over her after she fell. She didn’t want to think about all the fun her family had had, or how she and Taryn had counted how many cows they saw out the window to make the drive go by faster, or how Vivi came up with backstories for the cows while their parents chimed in. That time of her life hurt too much to think of.
Jude felt her throat constrict and her eyes sting.
“Ahhhgg!’ Jude screamed at herself. Why did the stars hate her? Why must they make her think back on all of these painful memories?
Jude slapped herself hard.
The toad leaps through the woods, over boulders and dodging trees with grace and ease. Jude, however, gets jostled and knocked around from its back, far less grace being felt as the rider.
As they raced towards the spy’s keep, Jude distracts herself from her past with the knowledge she gleaned from the mission. One thought chiming in time with her heartbeat.
Magic, Magic, Magic.
Maybe Jude could be more than a mortal, or swords master, or a spy…
Maybe she could be magic.
Maybe she could be a witch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cardan bends down and picks up the peculiar object from the floor. It was one of the mortal things that had fallen from Jude’s pocket. The label read, ‘colored contacts: yellow.’
“Sooo,” Darnal drawled at him from where he had locked Cardan in his chambers, “what did I miss while I left the two of you alone? Clearly some good came of my meddling”
Cardan gave him a look. Did he really think Cardan would fill him in after what he did?
Cardan turned his back on him, tucking the mortal object into the pocket of his riding cloak. Perhaps he would use it as an excuse to speak to her tomorrow at school. He heaved a sigh, knowing he wouldn’t. She would probably stab him if he tried to, or she would tell everyone what happened.
‘How will Balekin react to you sullying yourself with a lowly mortal like me,’ she spat at him. Cardan didn’t want to think about it. He wondered if Balekin would move past threats and actually cut off his tail for it. He felt it wrap around him in comfort, now freed from his pants since Jude was gone.
Darnal heaved a sigh and spoke once more, his face moving to a door closer to Cardan’s field of vision, “You know why I helped her escape, Cardan. I had to after I heard you speak of witchcraft.”
Cardan knew this. He knew why Darnal was cursed to guard the manor.
“There was a time when no one turned their head up about caring for mortals you know. It is not a bad thing to care for her,” Daral continued when Cardan said nothing.
“That time has long past my friend,” Cardan said. The door was his friend Cardan thought. Probably his only genuine one, but the doorknocker only stayed and treated him kindly because he was trapped in Cardan’s home. He didn’t doubt that Darnal would want nothing to do with him if he was free from his bonds. Cardan sighed thinking of the course of events that had taken place five centuries prior that led to his entrapment.
“I’m sorry about your lost love,” Cardan said as he made his way under his covers.
Darnal’s dead lover was the reason that mortals were no longer welcome among the folk. She was the reason that the age of witches belonged to the past…
Truthfully, Balekin was more to blame than anyone else. But the victors were the ones who tell the stories, not their victims.
“She looks like my Elith, your Jude,” Darnal says quietly, Cardan can hear the heartache in his voice that hadn’t diminished in more than 500 years, “She has the same fire in her that Eli did,”
“Does it pain you to see us together then?” Cardan asked, knowing how he and Balekin resembled one another.
“Some,” Darnal admits. After a beat, he adds, “but not much. I like to think you would care for her better than Balekin cared for his wife. You are far better than your brother, Cardan.”
The words bring comfort but not much. The prophecy from his birth says that he will be far worse than Balekin.
“Good day, my door,” Cardan says after a long pause, closing his eyes to get a few hours of rest before school, his stone heart heavy in his chest.
“Sleep well, my prince,” was the last thing Cardan heard before he drifted away.
“Hey! Guess what I just found in a box of my dad’s old things!” Grimm huffed with an air of satisfaction, grunting from under the heft of his miniature backpack. The pastel red material surged with a noticeable heavy bulge, as the harsh outlines of a semi rectangular object stretched the slightly dingy cloth along its edges.
His young companions turned their attention to the child strutting proudly into the room, knowing precisely who it was from the somewhat worn, dark hued graphic tee and the torn denim pants. The first to reach the smug juvenile was Radiance, her cream colored sundress fluttering with every hurried step she took towards the trotting bug, her eagerness fading the closer she got to inspect whatever Grimm was so proud to show off.
“Awe Grimmy I thought you had something cool, like one of those super old brick phones. We could’ve at least called someplace and had some fun! If this is another boring old book I’m so not playing with you after this.” The small moth huffed, more fuzz than fury. She was still salty that the last time her playmate had insisted he had something fun to do, it turned out his idea of entertainment was nothing more than looking at an old dictionary for naughty words. It had been tear jerkingly funny for all of 15 minutes before they got bored and hung up over how little there was to be found.
“Raddy trust me, this is way better than any other book. This is a super magic book!” Grimm beamed with excitement, already scrambling to take off the overburdened pack, hurrying to undo the sticky zippers which always caught on themselves whenever he worked himself into an energized frenzy.
“A magic book? Is it like a spell book or a portal to a mis-ter-us world?” Asked the petite juniper in a soft and sweet voice, saturated with innocent glee. Her luminous branches flickered with life as a single small hand fiddled with the button to her denim overalls.
“No Lady, those books don’t exist, at least I don’t think so. And it’s My-steer-ee-us, not mis-ter-us.” Piped up another, crisper chime. The voice had come from a young lad, his head adorned with a ring of stubby horns, as clean as the white button up and sleek grey trousers he so commonly donned.
The last two to approach the growing circle of friends was none other than Pale and Lady, who at least to Lady’s greatest ability, managed to keep each other conjoined at the hip. Radiance let out a huff as the two approached, blowing the duo a timidly contemptuous raspberry once they were within teasing distance. Pale stuck out his tongue and drew back his lower eyelid in response, the only mean gesture he was brave enough to send her, since the first and only time he ever threw her the middle, he lost dessert privileges for an entire week. Oh how he wished he could've tattled on her back.
“Welll.... it’s sorta magic. Apparently when my dad was in college, he played this Castles and Keepers game with his old school friends. I was looking through the attic to find one of my favorite kites when I knocked over some stuff and found this book! Apparently it’s a rule book for how you play the game.” Grimm beamed with a dark smile, brandishing the newly uncovered hardback with the pride of a mighty sorcerer showing off their most accursed tomes.
“Seriously? Old people games? Ugh I’ve watched my family play stupid board games before, they’re always so rulesy and don’t have any excitement at all.” Radiance almost immediately sighed in boredom, feeling let down by the surprise already.
“I mean I dunno Raddy, my mamma told me it’s a really scary game, and if you play it you turn evil.” Lady cooed with a lul of concern, regarding the book like a priestess to a haunted artifact.
“You don’t seriously believe that do you? Remember when your mom said that you shouldn’t jump in puddles because one day you might jump inside a super deep one and you’d never come out? Your mom tells you way too many stories I think.” Pale chimed in with a curt cut of his voice, begrudging the sapling's timidness. Even so, it was clear that the kiddie bug was apprehensive to join in on whatever his friend had planned.
“Cmon guys please? I even brought in these things called character sheets! I stayed up real late reading all about this and I got the perfect idea for.... for a.. I think the book called it a camp-pain?” Grimm enthused, desperate to grab his friends’ weaning attention. He fished up some spare pencils and a few slightly crumpled sheets of paper, ready to be filled out by waiting minds.
“How late did you stay up to do all this?” Radiance asked, cautious but intrigued.
“You won’t believe this, but 9 P-M-!” He beamed.
“Wow that really is late-! You must be really serious about this then.” Pale noted, taking a look over the sheet and offering one to Lady. The youngin snatched it eagerly, pouring over the detailed contents.
“What is... Char-ris-maa?” She asked, her head tilting in confusion to all the new words she perplexingly had never heard of before.
“Don’t worry guys I’ll explain all of it to you, but only if you decide to play the game with me!” Grimm offered, the tempting offer hanging in the air decisively. The rest of the gang looked to one another, mulling over their options. It was enticing sure, but would it be worth it?
“Fine I’ll play, but this better not suck Grimmy, or else!” Radiance huffed, but even through her begrudging tone, it was clear that she was barely containing her ample excitement at its seams.
“I don’t have anything better to do, I don’t like Miss Seeker’s craft ideas anyway. She probably won’t notice if we’re off playing this instead.” Pale offered, not quite captivated, but also not put off enough to turn the offer down. The three looked to the last to join in, waiting for her response.
“Cmon don’t be a scaredy Lady, join us or else we’ll tell Herrah how big a scaredy you are!” Radiance teased, poking fun at the meek and shy sapling. She stiffened at this, her rounded cheeks brightening with a frustrated blush as the moth’s threat did its work to rile her up.
“Nuh uh you wouldn’t! You’re such a meanie Raddy!” Lady shot back, so easily wrung in and agitated by the slightest tormenting.
“Well then prove it! We all know you still sleep with a night light and that you once cried for an hour because you though someone took your favorite plushie! Nya nya nya! Lady is a big ol scaredy!” Radiance sung over and over in a crude mocking voice, her childish squeals flat and annoyingly toneless. With a final huff and a determined wail, Lady broke through her fervent taunts.
“You’re wrong!! Fine! I’ll play it! But if mamma gets angry I’ll tell her it was all your faults for making me play!” She squealed, asserting her all too certain threats to the group as a whole. With that, Radiance let out a victorious sigh.
“Finally you decide to be some fun for once!” She gloated, confident for now that she had swayed over the timid lass to her side for now. With that, the trio stared back at Grimm, eyes brimming with curiosity and impatience.
“So... What do we do now? You said you knew how to play this game, but I don’t see a game board or cards or anything.” Pale broke the silence first, inquisitively looking over the smirking bug with a hint of scrutiny. After all, what kind of game had no pieces?
“Well, let’s take a seat, and I’ll explain everything!” Grimm smugly cooed, taking out a pouch of various sided dice of all different colors. Lady immediately was drawn to the unfamiliar objects, mulling them over as if she was surveying a new type of candy.
“Woah! I’ve never seen dice with so many sides! I never knew they could have that many!” She exclaimed, watching them with unbridled captivation as Grimm rolled them around in his small palm.
“We’ll get to use them later but first, you guys get to make your characters!”
sprung spring | take you home; adam page [m]
Prompt Used:
“I’ll feel much better if you let me walk you home.” + comfort sex + drunk sloppy sex + “Oh my god you’re so much better than the last person I was with.” + A breathy demand: “Kiss me” - and what the other person does to respond. + needy/clingy sex
Notes:
Okay, so… I have literally… Never… used my given name in a work of fiction before and… ya girl found out it’s hard to write dirty things when the OC has your name. Pure self indulgent smut because fuckkit yolo, I needed this. Some of the dialogue prompted above was changed to reflect the situation these two were placed in, fyi. This is mature content, so nobody under 18+ up in these parts. Also, I owe a serious hug to @heelsamizayn & @wrestlingismyguiltypleasure because no matter how many times I whined and bitched and got all squirmy whilst writing this, they really kept me going and I love them for that.
Warnings:
alcohol tw ( it’s the OC this time), clingy unprotected sex, sawwwft!Adam, lots of teasing (and hopefully tension, I was really trying to play at heightening that here) and yeahhh.. It’s tame. I promise ya’ll… I’m going to write actual harder / filthier prompts, I just… had a mighty need. Anyway, that’s all the warnings.
Pairing:
Adam Hangman Page x OFC, Ashley
Ashley narrowed her eyes at the bottle before glancing up at Shane and shaking her head. “I-I’m good.”
“Aw, c’mon hon. It’s just a little drink.” Shane was stepping closer, right in her space all over again. He’d been plying her with drinks and trying to get her to dance or talk to him -or the most annoying request he’d made so far, “Smile, darlin. Ya look prettier when ya do.” and it was starting to rub him the wrong way, the way she kept resisting. She could almost feel it radiating off of him.
Ashley was at that state of drunk where it was more annoying than endearing and now that it seemed to be irritating him that she wouldn’t just give in, it only gave her all the more reason to resist. It wasn’t as if it wasn’t almost cringe inducingly clear what the asshole thought he was doing and she just wasn’t having it.
At all.
Not even slightly.
Rather than even partially entertain his offer for another drink or to go dance with him, Ashley sighed and rolled her eyes in sheer boredom, taking the drink and taking a sip as she scrolled through her contacts list.
As usual, she hovered over Adam’s number in her phone and that loneliness crept in all over again. More pronounced. More tinged with regret.
She found herself missing him so much that before she even realized it, she’d pulled up the text bubble from their last text conversation and she found herself grimacing at the date.
Had they really not spoken at all in nearly 3 weeks?
And then Ashley found herself going back over the last time they had spoken face to face. Before she realized the true depths of her feelings and Adam drunkenly tried to kiss her and in a blind panic, she’d backed away.
Not because she hadn’t wanted him to kiss her, but because she’d been afraid of what might happen if he did kiss her.
And now, Ashley thought bitterly, hugging herself a little as the thought came, I’m lucky to get a Hi, how are you over text out of him..
With a sigh, she finished scanning their last brief text conversation and then, when Shane cleared his throat impatiently, she remembered that apparently, this guy expected her to pay all her attention to him and she put her phone down. Biting her lip, she settled warm brown eyes on the other man.
“I asked ya if you wanted to dance, darlin. They’re kinda playin our song.” Shane chuckled, holding out his hand. When she started to shake her head no, he gave her a sort of put off glare and muttered something to himself about tonight being a complete waste. All his buddies told him not to walk over and try talking to her; they all told him she was bound tighter than molasses from the knees down and every single night she’d come in this week so far, she’d managed to shoot down anyone who thought they might possibly stand a chance of takin her home. I clearly should’ve listened, Shane found himself thinking, because now I’m out fifty bucks and she looks more annoyed with me each second that passes and that real gorgeous chick I know I coulda won over left an hour ago with Greg.
“W-we don’t have a s-song?” Ashley’s brow quirked and she shook her head, holding up her glass. “I-i’m good, actually.” Ashley muttered as she took a long sip.
Moron, do you seriously think I want to dance to this song… with you? Because no. Ashley thought to herself as she glanced around the crowded bar, face falling when she remembered that Adam wasn’t in town right now, he was on the road. When Ashley realized what Shane had just muttered about the night being a total waste, she mildly shrugged. “I-i don’t r-recall askin y-you t-to come up n’ t-try pourin the booze to me, either. Play s-stupid games, w-win stupid p-prizes.”
As Shane grumbled “Fine, suit yourself, darlin. Don’t come lookin for me when it’s late and you can’t find a ride home.” and made his way onto his next target, Ashley let out a long and deep breath, blowing at dark bangs as they flopped right into her eyes, laughing off Shane’s words.
She went back to her phone, scrolling through her contacts.
“Maybe Shayna’s up.” Ashley mused to herself as she pulled up what she thought was a text conversation she’d been having with her friend earlier in the day while they were both stuck in their office working through lunch.
What she didn’t realize -and wouldn’t just yet, was that she hadn’t texted Shayna at all.
She’d texted Adam… The subject of the earlier conversation.
→ First of all, pretty sure I just completely eviscerated this one guy’s poor ego. *eye roll*. Guess whose NOT having the sex right now bc she gets mouthy when she drinks?
→ This bitch, that’s whomst. In my defense, he was the one who kept pouring the drinks to me. I just took ‘em. You know me, guy stood about as much a chance as… Anyway, it doesn’t matter. I chased him off. Like usual when we’re out at this bar.
→ But seriously though.. Maybe it’s the alcohol and the fact that I’m lonely and I’m salty because I’m not getting cuddles rn like youuuuu but…
→ Okay, u were right earlier.
→ It’s late and I’m drunk, otherwise I’d never say that. Maybe a little lonely too. Enjoy your shallow victory and the sex you’re probably getting rn, lmao. ILY Shayna!
→ I know ur probably busy with Samuel - sexy times and all that but… You win. You’re right.
→ I love him and god… I miss him so much it’s making me an even bigger bitch lately, so.. Sorry for that I guess. I wish I’d just… Kissed him back. Climbed him like an actual tree, giant he is… Shoved him against the wall, tangled my fingers in that hair and tugged his mouth against mine. Maybe even rubbed myself against him a lil bit too, just to see if that yummy cologne he wears all the time rubs off. At least then I’d… Well, I sure as shit wouldn’t be sitting here, shooting down pushy douchebag assholes and drinking alone.
→ Anyway, have your moment. I love Adam Page. I always have and it scares the living hell out of me. You were right. Now there’s only one problem… How do I make the big idiot answer my calls?!?
→ don’t answer that rn. Tomorrow… When drunk Ashley isn’t out and doing dumb shit and can think clearly.
→ Okay, no… answer meeee… I just… I need to know what to do here? Pls. I beg of you. If you don’t answer me, I swear to God, I’m gonna wind up drunk dialing.. >.>
–
The cell phone was going batshit crazy on the bathroom counter and Adam mostly ignored it in favor of soaking under a long hot shower. It had been a long drive; made longer by the fact that he was all beaten and banged up from the past few shows but trying to soldier through as usual. Parts of him admittedly ignored the phone because he thought it was most likely one of three people and none of them he wanted to talk to right now.
No, Adam thought to himself, the one I wanna talk to more than anything I can’t talk to now… He sighed as he thought about the way he got too drunk; out of control. He’d tried to kiss her that night and just the sheer look of panic in big brown eyes right before she bolted the hell away in a hurry had been more than enough to make him realize where he stood.
He couldn’t face her after that either, so he’d been keeping a low profile. Trying to distance from… his actions.
Just thinking about it had him both cringing and feeling that raw surge of pain he felt that night all over again, fresh as ever.
She hadn’t texted him or tried calling either, so that only further confirmed his suspicions. And now, Adam thought to himself as the phone buzzed one last time and he stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around his waist after drying off his face, you lost your best friend. The one you could talk to about anything. You messed that up. Being a jerk that night and coming on way too strong.
He picked up his cell phone only halfway glancing at it at first. But when he actually read all the messages, he wound up dropping the phone on the bathroom tiles with a quiet thud. Then he stood there, trying to get his head around everything he’d just read, all the texts from Ashley to what she apparently thought was her best friend Shayna.
About him.
He took several deep breaths and then got himself at least partially together before even attempting to answer the barrage of texts.
← Where are you?
← Are you drunk right now?
At re-reading that her shooting down men when she went out with Shayna was apparently a common thing, Adam let out a few shakier breaths and bit his lip, raising a hand to his head and dragging thick digits through damp hair as he let it sink in.
Blue eyes scanned the next message after hitting send.
← Nevermind, screw it.
← I’ll be there in 10.
← And me and you? We’re gonna have ourselves a serious talk.
After throwing back on the jeans and tee shirt he’d had on before showering, he grabbed his keys and headed out. He knew the bar she always went to because they’d hung out there on more than one occasion.
“Bastard who was pourin the drinks to her better hope he’s long gone when I get there.” Adam muttered as protective urges reared their head and he found himself more than a little worried. Ashley wasn’t a drinker by any stretch of the imagination. And given the rambling in the texts she thought she’d sent to Shayna just now, it was.. A safe guess that she was at least two thirds of the way to being too drunk to function.
And it had him more than a little concerned because he knew how the guys at this particular bar got when they saw a pretty girl sitting there, drinking alone. His grip tightened on the wheel as he sped towards the bar in question.
When he was in the parking lot, he tried to call her cell phone but it went straight to voicemail. Without wasting any time, Adam killed the engine to his truck and got out, hurrying into the bar, blue eyes darting around all over as he tried to pick her out in the crowd.
Maybe she hadn’t left yet. God, he could only hope.
–
“I-i’m gonna stop you right there. Just because I-i’m a lil tipsy right now..” Ashley stared up at the man who’d taken the seat next to her at the bar after Shane vacated in a hurry earlier. “Don’t mean I want any part of y-you.”
“Aw, c’mon darlin. Pretty little thing like you shouldn’t be sittin here, drinkin all alone. C’mon.”
“I’d a-actually prefer it, if you w-want the honest G-god’s truth.” Ashley waved over the bartender, signalling for more bourbon in her glass. She fixed her eyes on the man and raised the glass to her lips. “Thanks f-for the drink though.”
Before the guy even got a chance to respond, a throat cleared loud; almost protectively, from behind the two. Ashley didn’t even have to turn around to know exactly who was standing behind her, but what she was having trouble grasping in her tipsy state, was what exactly Adam was doing here now.
“Just do yourself a favor and leave, buddy.” Adam stared down the man intently, arms folded over his chest, moving to step closer to Ashley’s stool, lightly pressing against her from behind.
“Adam? W-what the hell?” Ashley drawled, turning on her stool almost immediately, brown eyes locking on him with a questioning gaze. “I… y-you w-weren’t home.” she could feel herself starting to sober up just a little at his sudden appearance. She frowned a little, shook her head sadly.
Adam moved to step between her legs and he leaned in and down, brushing his lips against her own as he muttered quietly and firmly, “Kiss me.” catching her chin with his finger curled beneath it just when she went to look down. “My eyes and mouth are right here, darlin.” Adam coaxed, gazing at her mouth intently.
“K-kiss me, he s-says.” Ashley drawled, biting her lip, staring right back at his mouth just as intently as he stared at hers.
Her hand raised, resting across the back of his neck, fingers tangling in and tugging his hair free from the bun he’d thrown it into, threading through it once she had. Her legs wrapped around his waist, pulling him closer and her other hand curled in the front of his tee shirt, tugging his mouth down to her level a little better. Once she’d done that, her lips trailed lazily over his mouth, tracing the shape of his lips, making him give a quiet groan and his eyes flutter open and closed. By the time her tongue was slipping past his teeth, his tongue was fighting against it for complete control of the kiss and he’d leaned into her so much that her back was right up against the edge of the bar. His teeth scraped at her lower lip as the kiss deepened, both of them panting for their next breath and dizzy from it.
His hands slid beneath her ass and he scooped her up, not bothering to break the kiss just yet or untangle her from his body. Her legs squeezed his waist harder and she rubbed against him more than a little. Once they were out in the parking lot again, Adam stopped, sitting her on the railing around an outdoor sitting area, pulling her into another deep and almost bruising kiss.
“I-I was just… about to l-leave. Walk.”
Adam chuckled and shook his head no, nodding to his truck. “I’d feel much better if you’d let me take you home, darlin.”
Ashley eyed him, hints of a pout on her lips. “Y-you s-stopped e-even t-talkin to m-me.” she sighed and shook her head sadly, muttering under her breath, “I-it is m-my fault.” and Adam tilted her chin to make her meet his gaze when she looked down, shaking his head. “It’s not, darlin. Not at all.”
“I-I fucking r-ran. S-seriously?” Ashley whined, her legs squeezing at his waist as she wrapped them around him all over again, staring at his chest for a few seconds, blowing out an exasperated breath, because the more she thought about her choice to run the night he finally kissed her, the more it did truly exasperate her. Of all the times to panic… It had to be then. The worst possible one.
Adam chuckled and leaned down, muttering softly against her mouth, “If it makes you feel any better, darlin.. You made up for it. And it drove me crazy, not talkin to ya.”
“G-good.” Ashley giggled and poked out her tongue as she looked at him. “B-because it m-made m-me really cranky. H-holy s-shit, so cranky.” she giggled again, making Adam laugh and scoop her up into his arms, making his way towards the truck. “I know.”
“H-how?” Ashley’s brow raised as she stared up at him, resting her head against his shoulder. “I-I literally o-only told Shayna…”
“You texted the wrong person, actually.” Adam teased as he unlocked his truck, sitting her into the passenger seat. Ashley’s mouth opened and closed and she palmed her face, groaning in sheer embarrassment while laughing softly.
Adam got into the truck, starting the engine and Ashley was raising the console, curling into his side as soon as she’d moved to the middle to sit, tucking her legs on the seat beside her. Adam chuckled, slipping his arm around her shoulders. “You’re awfully cuddly tonight, know that?”
“Mhm.” Ashley purred, her lips brushing against his neck, making him grip the wheel just a little tighter. By now, the embarrassment over what she’d done was melting away and her internal filter -the little she actually possessed to begin with, was at an all time low thanks to having drinks poured into her all night by random and far lesser appealing men. “Is that a b-bad thing?”
Adam bit back a groan and barely resisted bucking his hips as he felt her lips clumsily moving along the side of his neck as she nuzzled into him and chuckling quietly, he gave an answer. “Not at all, darlin. Except for the fact that you’re getting me all sorts of stirred up right now.” he muttered, the truck coasting to a stop beneath the red light a block away from his place. When he did, he turned to look at her, wasting no time in pulling her mouth up to his as his hand went from squeezing her thigh to slipping between them, rubbing her through her jeans as he swore quietly because he could feel how warm she was and it only made him think about how wet she might actually be.
“Maybe t-that’s what I’m trying to do.” came pouring out before she could stop herself from saying it. Not that she would have either way, but she was at least trying to show a little restraint, still partially shocked that he was there and that she’d somehow managed to confess everything to him under the guise of texting Shayna.
Maybe it was a good thing that happened, Ashley thought to herself as she slipped her hand down, trailing it along the inside of his thigh, then up… Sucking in a sharp breath when her hand settled palm down against the bulge already straining and growing, pushing against his jeans. Adam’s hips snapped and he locked eyes with her, biting his lip, the hand between her thighs starting to move a little harder and a lot faster. Ashley rocked her hips against his hand and sucked in a sharp breath as Adam leaned in, teeth tugging at her earlobe and catching as he muttered against it in a whisper, “If that’s so, darlin.. You’re in for it. Just wait.”
“What if I don’t w-wanna wait, hm?” Ashley muttered as her lips brushed against his neck again and Adam’s breath caught in his throat before making the remark aloud, “Got a lot to make up for, me and you.”
“Mhm.” Ashley could feel herself getting wetter and wetter with every single word he said. She knew he had to feel her thighs clenching tighter with each word he said because his hand was currently buried between them, palm down against her dripping and throbbing heat, rubbing through her jeans and by now she’d trapped his hand where it was. A shiver passed through her body as she continued to rock her hips against his hand, a quiet whimper of frustration coming when all that lead to was him, slowing down way too much for her liking at the moment. She pouted up at him and bit her lip as he leaned in, closer and closer, pulling her face towards his.
“Could take all night.” Adam was turning his head slightly, tugging her neck closer as he ghosted his lips along it, the pressure of his hand reaching an almost feverish frenzy as he growled against soft skin, “Maybe even tomorrow.”
“Oh?” Ashley’s eyes fluttered open and shut and she bit her lip, her hips rocking faster to meet his hand and the way it cupped and rubbed at her heat. Just enough to make a little friction, not by any means enough to give the amount of friction she actually craved.
He was teasing her.
Just the thought had her pouting in sheer frustration as she locked eyes with him. “Tease.”
“Ain’t exactly teasing if I know exactly what I’m gonna do to you when I get you home.” Adam pointed out, giving her a smirk. Ashley swallowed hard, breath catching in her throat at his words. Her mouth opened and closed and it had Adam chuckling quietly because this was one of very few times he’d truly seen her with a complete lack of something clever to say in response.
“Cat got your tongue, darlin?” he practically purred the words as his hand started to massage all over again and almost instantly, she started to rock against it more urgently.
“Adam… Fuck.” she gasped quietly, eyes fluttering open and closed as she started to palm at the way he was strained against his jeans.
The light went green and the careful and almost teasing movement of her hand in his lap felt so good that for about half a second, Adam didn’t realize it had.
“Light’s green, Adam.” Ashley’s voice was teasing, she gave a soft giggle as Adam took a few shaky breaths, nodding as he hurried from beneath the green light, turning down the next street. His house was in view, only a few seconds away and yet… It felt like a million miles away.
Almost the second he was parked at the curb in front of it, he was reaching out, pulling her over the console and into his lap, his hands and mouth all over her, mouth latching onto her neck and leaving a string of hickies down the side as he bucked himself into her from below and his hands disappeared up her shirt, slipping beneath her bra before finally getting frustrated at how in the way it was and unfastening it, gripping her breasts in his hands, palming and squeezing at them as he growled against her mouth when his mouth finally rose to meet and conquer her lips again.
He leaned into her so heavily that her back met the steering wheel and the horn in the center, making them both laugh only to have the sounds of their laughter swallowed by a deep and frenzied, needy kiss. The kiss broke and Ashley backed away slightly, biting her lip, wiggling around in his lap, bucking herself right against the prominent bulge strained and about to burst through his jeans. “I think that’s our sign to go inside, Adam.” she muttered the words as she felt her face burning hot and she bit her lip, squirming around in his lap just a little more, harder, desperate to keep the friction going. Adam nodded, killing the engine and getting out of the truck, carrying her up the steps, stopping to unlock his front door, with her body pinned between his body and the door as he did so. Twice he had to grip harder just because she started to trail her lips down his neck and chuckling quietly into the kiss he stole, he gave a triumphant and joking ‘Yee haw’ when he got the door unlocked at last. Ashley gave a soft whimper as he stepped through the door, shutting it behind him and locking it. He sat her down on a sturdy console table that ran the length of the back of his sofa and stepped away to pull off his boots and Ashley took a few deep breaths, tried to pull herself together.
This was really happening.
Finally.
Adam met her gaze as he straightened to stand again and he stepped between her legs, devouring her mouth hungrily, his hands cupping her cheeks and caressing. “You’re sure, right? Because once we cross the line, darlin…”
Ashley gripped his jaw, guiding her mouth back down against his greedily as she whispered needily into the kiss, “Fuck me, Adam. I don’t wanna remember anyone else but you.”
Adam’s teeth clenched her lower lip; tugging. She was clinging to him and it was driving him crazy because there was… Still too much clothing in between them, keeping them apart. He scooped her up off the console table he’d sat her on to take off his boots and started to carry her down the hall, stopping halfway to put her back against the wall, tearing her shirt up over her head, tossing it onto the floor. Ashley tugged impatiently at his tee shirt, finally getting it up and over his head, tossing it onto the floor a few feet away from where her own shirt lie. Adam did away with the pesky bra next, letting it hit the floor softly, an almost primal growl bursting from his lips as he dipped his head low, dancing his mouth over the tops of her breasts, leaving behind beard burn and littering soft skin with bites with each time his mouth connected with her bare skin.
Ashley writhed around in his grasp, rocking herself into him, gripping his hips tighter with her legs, whimpering aloud, her head falling back and softly hitting the wall as her eyes fluttered open and shut. Her hand gripped his shoulder, fingertips digging into and dancing over his skin, sending a shiver through his body and making him groan as he glanced up at her, biting his lip. Ashley stared right back, both of them struggling to catch their breath but too caught up in the moment to bother putting a halt to the deep and biting and almost bruising kisses. She took his face in her hands, pulling his mouth deep against her own, her tongue trailing over the outline of his lips before parting them, her body rubbing against him even more frantically. Her hand raised to tangle in his hair and in the process, a photo clattered to the hallway floor noisily.
“Let’s take you to bed, hmm?” Adam’s breath against her skin as he mumbled the words into her neck quietly had Ashley whimpering and rocking against him even more frantically. Adam growled quietly as he bucked himself right back against her, starting the walk down the hall to his bedroom all over again. He kicked it open, a quiet creak of the frame echoing through the stillness as he stepped inside and shut it behind him, tossing her against the mattress as he stared down at her hungrily. Ashley went to raise up, reaching for the waistband of his jeans but Adam pushed her back against the mattress all over again, making her pout and give a frustrated whimper as he chuckled softly and leaned down, hands going down her bare skin, sending goosebumps to it’s surface as he lowered his mouth down, ghosting it slowly over her abdomen before raising to whisper next to her ear, “Uh uh darlin. Let me take care of you.” in a husky and firmer tone.
He started to lazily trail his mouth over bare skin all over again, the blunt of his teeth tugging at her nipples as his tongue circled them and he caught her eye, winking at her, his hands drifting down between them, unbuttoning and unzipping her jeans, lingering to rub and squeeze her cunt before hooking in her waistband to tug her jeans and panties down all at once. Ashley tried to rock her hips upward, desperate to feel any kind of friction, frustrated beyond belief by all Adam’s teasing, but almost the instant she dared it, Adam was on his knees, kneeling in front of her, parting her legs with his hands and ghosting his mouth up the inside of her thigh slowly, occasionally placing a soft bite against her skin.
When her fingers tangled in his hair, he grunted against her skin, grazing his teeth against it, his tongue slowly making a lazy broad swipe upward. Ashley whimpered when she tried yet again to rock her hips against the way Adam had her pinned, just hoping to at least make an attempt to steer him where she needed him most, but he chuckled quietly, the shake of his head that he gave making soft hair brush against her skin and sending a shiver through her body. “I’m holdin you still for a reason, darlin. Now c’mon, be a good girl. Be still and let me take care of you.”
“Adam, please.” Ashley begged, trying again to rock her hips upward, only to pout when she realized just how determined Adam was to hold her in place and tease her relentlessly.
“Be patient, darlin. We got all night.” Adam’s tongue was trailing lazily over her folds as he said it, the taste of her on his tongue making him half growl his words as they left his mouth. He smirked a little to himself when he felt her not only try to rock her hips upward to meet his mouth but her hand curling in the comforter on top of his bed and in his hair, tugging as she whimpered and whined, her cries of frustrated pleasure echoing off the walls of his bedroom and shattering the silence around them.
Her breath caught in her throat as she felt his tongue make a long stripe over one side of her cunt. And then, straight across the middle, finally, another long stripe across the opposite side to which he lazily chuckled “A.” as he met her gaze with a teasing smirk. Ashley rose up slightly, staring down at him, biting her lip as a series of needy whimpers and loud whines left her mouth and her toes dug into the comforter. One long and broad stripe and then another curved stripe had her shivering and arching her back, fingers tangling in his hair as she tugged gently, “Fuck.”
“D.” Adam was at it again with the smirk, lowering his head almost a split second later to get back to what he was doing. His tongue trailed a familiar pattern over her folds and he muttered quietly against her cunt, “A”. and Ashley shivered even more because it hit her what he was doing, spelling out his name. “Adam, please… Need you, baby, please.” she begged almost frantically, desperate to ease some of the ache rapidly building because of all his teasing. Despite the urgent begging, Adam’s tongue rolled lazily, the one slanted stripe required to form one side of the M and then the two stripes required to form the middle of the M and finally, the last stripe. “M.” he groaned as his nose bumped right against her pelvic mound and he buried his tongue as deep in her pussy as he could, tilting her hips upward, pulling her closer to his mouth as he savored the taste of her as it started to fill his mouth. He could feel her body starting to tense up and another smirk came, pressing against her soaked warmth as he started to slow way down on the movements of his tongue. When he felt her fingers tugging at his hair again and noticed that she was digging her toes into the bed too, the smirk on his face grew.
Yeah, he was teasing. Taking his time with her, making this last. He’d waited so long already, now that it was happening, he was just… Really savoring the moment.
“Adam, please!” Ashley choked out, back arching away from the mattress slightly, eyes fluttering open and shut as she tried to keep frustrated tears at bay. When she felt him leaving a string of bite marks on the inside of her thighs, she whimpered and tried to rock her hips against his grip at them to no avail.
“Not yet, darlin. Just a little longer, I swear.” Adam breathed against her cunt as his tongue rolled lazily over the folds before slowly slipping in all over again, starting over with his little teasing torture. Ashley’s grip tightened in his hair and he paused, glancing up at her with lust blown eyes. “Pull as hard as you want while my head is buried between your thighs, darlin. C’mon. I like it.” his tone was firm, almost demanding.
And it only served to make her even wetter, she could feel the wetness coating her thighs, dripping. Adam growled quietly, tongue moving a little faster, flicking over her clit, lingering and trailing a lazy circle, grazing his teeth against the circular bundle of nerves as he chuckled against her, “What’s wrong, darlin?”
“You know what you’re…” Ashley writhed beneath the grip Adam had on her lower body, keeping her legs spread wide for him as his tongue slowly dove into and out of her soaked heat, “doing. Tease.”
“Oh, I’m not teasin at all, darlin.” Adam chucked again quietly, “Just said you better not dare cum yet.”
“Adam, it’s all I want to do! Fucking… ahh, hurts. I’m aching, baby, c’mon… Please?”
Adam continued to lick, adding two fingers and Ashley hissed sharp, her breath catching in her throat, her entire body tensing as she tried to do as she was told and resist the urge to cum. The more teasing she endured at his fingers and mouth, the harder that became.
He could feel her body tense up so tight, the way she was propped on her elbows to watch him had her arms shaking. He definitely felt her toes digging into the comforter by now too. Giving a soft nip to the inside of her right thigh as he stopped for a second or two, he muttered quietly, “Okay darlin. Now.” before raising her hips just a little, burying his tongue back deep inside her, rocking her hips against his face faster, his tongue swirling inside her cunt in a frenzy as he felt her shaking all over, heard her gasping for her next breath as she moaned out loud over and over, her cries of pleasure and his name filling the air and driving him over the edge, making him lick and suck harder, faster. He loosened his grip on her hips and she rocked them against his face almost shamelessly, he muttered quietly against her skin, “C’mon, darlin. Don’t stop.” breathing heavily.
Ashley’s hips started to slow and Adam lowered her legs, crawling up her body after dragging the back of his hand across his mouth, his eyes locked on her intently as he leaned down, pulling her into a deep kiss, breaking the kiss quickly to raise up, his hand lowering and wrapping around his thick length just to trace the tip right over and slightly between her folds, shivering himself in anticipation, growling quietly. His hips pinned her hips against the bed and she dug her nails into broad shoulders as he sank into her slowly, carefully, stopping to kiss her cheeks and mutter against her mouth, “You okay, darlin?”
“Yeah.” Ashley answered, trying to rock her hips against him once she was adjusted to the way he stretched her out and filled her up. Her nails trailed lightly across his shoulders, digging in slightly when he sank into her even deeper, his hips smacking against her hips softly and slowly, placing kisses all over her mouth and face, trailing them down her throat as he muttered lazily, “So sweet I could eat you up.” as he met her gaze and slowly licked his lips. Ashley wrapped her legs around his hips and the new angle had him groaning, his hips sporadically crashing against her own for a few seconds as she took his cock as deep inside her as he could go, buried to the hilt. Her hands moved over his face, raising, dragging through his hair after pulling his mouth against her own for a deep and slow and greedy kiss. The kiss broke and he gave a lazy peck at the corner of her mouth, driving deeper and slower into her as he did and muttering softly, “Gonna get way too used to this, I think.”
“I already am.” Ashley breathed out against his skin, making him shiver. He’d always had a weakness when it came to gentle touches against his neck. The fact that she seemed to be enjoying brushing her mouth against the spot, or gently nipping at it with her teeth only had him giving a quiet growl and slamming himself into her slower and with much longer strokes. When she tried to speed him up, he chuckled and his hands lowered, gripping her hips, holding them so that he controlled the pace as he muttered against the shell of her ear, “What’s your hurry, darlin? We’ve got all night.”
Bleak sunshine was starting to peek through the curtains by now and Ashley giggled softly against his neck as she clung to him and he continued to attempt slowly and deeply fucking her into the mattresses on his bed, “It’s morning, actually.” as her forehead softly bumped against his collarbone and he chuckled as soon as the realization hit him too. “Well then, smarty pants, we have the rest of the day. Either way,” Adam’s mouth trailed lazily over her skin, leaving an erratic trail of marks in it’s wake, “we’ve got nothin but time.”
“You make a good point.” Ashley’s breath caught in her throat as his cock bottomed out, brushing against a spot that felt almost magical with each time he did so. She clung to his body, her moans and whimpers only drowned out by his answering groans and the occasional growl.
“I’m so.. Fuck, I’m so close. Please?” her begging had him giving a soft and quiet laugh, capturing her mouth in a deep and breathtaking kiss as he muttered into it, “Me too, darlin.. C’mon, let go for me.”
He sped up his thrusts, almost frantically chasing his oncoming orgasm as she dug her legs into his sides and her nails into his shoulders, raking them down his back as he growled against her skin, feeling her clench tight around him, feeling her body start to spasm, feeling her biting at his skin gently as he fucked her through her orgasm and straight into his own. He tried to stop but every time he tried, she’d grab hold of his hips and rock against him, begging for more until finally, he was throbbing, emptying inside deep, filling her up as he pressed into her heavily, covering her face in kisses before lazily kissing her mouth and having her deepen it as she breathed against his lips, “ That was amazing.”
“Better than the last guy, right?” Adam was only half teasing, but her answer really went a long way to fully reassure him when as he sank back against the mattress, pulling her on top of him and wrapping his arms around her while staring up, she smiled and gave a soft giggle, nodding as she leaned down and mumbled into his mouth, “You were so much better than the last guy. Ten million times better, baby.” before deepening the kiss he gave…
Warm and Fuzzy
Genre: Fan Fiction (Vikings) Pairing: Hvitserk/Reader Warnings: Smut Rating: NSFW Length: One Shot Disclaimer: a strict work of fiction, I own nothing except the original characters and the plot line. In no way am I affiliated to any of it.
A/N: Another recycling job, sue me ;)
Outside was dark, yet the settling and swirling snow reflected the light off of the street lamps lighting up the sky as if somebody had turned on a nightlight on the world. Inside there is a fire going and things are cozy, who can complain about that? Your gaze is focused on the window as you watch the snow drifting from the sky down to the ground and you fail to notice Hvitserk standing behind you. He moves forward, placing one of the steaming mugs he has in his hand over your shoulder.
“Here, I made some hot chocolate for you just the way you like it.” Hvitserk smiles his dazzling smile before stepping back to take a seat on the couch.
You step back from the window and take a seat next to him, pulling your feet up under you and resting against his arm. “What do you put in this to make it so good anyway?” you ask taking a sip of the decadent hot chocolate.
“Mmm nutmeg, cinnamon, peppermint and almond extracts.” Hvitserk says taking a drink of his own hot chocolate and licking his lips, leaving a bit of whipped topping on his cheek. “And a shot of kahula.”
Not expecting him to give up his secret so quickly, you smile and wipe the whipped topping off of his cheek for him. “Oh, so you’re trying to win me over with the chocolate and get me hammered at the same time. You are a smart boy, Lothbrok.” You teased him with a wink.
“I would never do such a thing.” Hvitserk gasps in reply then smiles at you.
Oh that smile! That gorgeous smile is what brought your attention to him when you’d first met. Sure Hvitserk is exceptionally good looking; his eyes are amazing the way he looks at you always makes your tummy flutter. Then there is that voice, that smooth voice the sound of him talking does things to you that you would never want to admit. Yes, he is the full package, he is amazing inside and out, but none of that mattered until he smiled. When you’d first met he was on one side of the room and you on the other, Hvitserk had looked up at the same time as you and shot you a smile that made you weak in the knees.
“Besides.” Hvitserk says sitting his mug down and leaning into you. “I don’t need help to get you going. Admit it, I have everything I already need to make you weak in the knees and become putty.”
Taking your half full, yes full because you never want to see anything other than the good side of life, mug he sits it on the coffee table a few feet away from the couch. Moving his body to pin you between him and the couch, he laces his fingers with yours and nuzzles his nose into your neck. Yes! Your mind screams, but that is as far as you’re going to go, if you react then Hvitserk will only think he has won. He has won, in so many ways, but that is best kept to yourself the less you stroke his ego the easier it is to live with him.
Wiggling under him, you laugh when he parades a few kisses down your cheek and moan when he starts to move them to your neck. Oh this has to stop or at least move somewhere more comfortable. With your fingers still laced in his, you move your hands to his chest and slightly push him away. Startled he moves back, still leaning over you, his eyes staring through you and sending chills through your entire body making sure to hit one particular place.
You smile at Hvitserk and let go of his hand, brushing your hands through his hair, messing up his perfectly styled bun. “Somebody’s anxious.” You giggle.
“I can’t help it; I miss you.” He tells you, placing a kiss on your neck and taking a deep breath. You both hate this long distance relationship. “You smell amazing.”
“It must be from that spa day. By the way, your mom was so much fun!” you giggle remembering how calm and cool his mother had been, when you’d invited her to spend a day with you. Had that been your own mother, you would have ran and hid in the hills never to be seen again.
“I think mom had fun too.” Hvitserk informs you, his hands running just under the button down pj top you are wearing. “Now, can we stop talking about my mother and start talking about what you do to me?” he growls before repining you.
When he is sure he has the better of you, once again, Hvitserk continues where he left off kissing his way down your neck and collarbone, skilfully he undoes the buttons with one hand before it snakes into the shirt. His fingers are cold and make you shiver as they hit your warm skin. You run your hands up under his shirt and across his back as he shifts you take the chance to move your hands to the front of his body, fingers meeting his warm chest. Raking your fingers along his toned torso you whimper as his hands glide over your body and his lower half shifts so that he is moving against you.
You know he has been waiting, it’s to the point it is driving him crazy, but not here and not now.
“You have to stop, mister.” You somehow find the words to put an end to this. “We can’t be doing this, not here.”
“Sure we can, if you’re quiet we can make it work. You know how you love to scream my name, just don’t do it.” Hvitserk jokes, getting himself a slap in the chest. “Nobody has to know.”
“You’re a jerk!” You shoot back. “I mean, we can’t do this because first off your parents own this house.” You hold up one finger, then another. “Two, your parents are upstairs sleeping.” Holding up the third finger, you grin. “Three, if you do this here it is going to be quick and sloppy.”
A smirk crosses his face and he snickers. “I knew you wanted me. Come on, I know where we can go that nobody will hear us.” Hvitserk winks.
“Oh really? Where is that?” you asked with a raised brow, sitting up and buttoning your shirt, not that it matters he will just have it taken off of you in a few minutes anyway, providing you follow his lead.
Jumping up Hvitserk grabs your hand and pulls you to your feet. “Didn’t you know, my old bedroom was in the basement.” He announces.
In the basement he leads you into a bedroom, it is spacious and cozy looking, but not as cozy looking as the large bed placed in the center of the room. He flips off the over head light and turns on a lamp, the glow of the smaller light casts shadows across the room making it seem more intimate. You watch him pull the blankets back on the perfectly made bed and take a moment to silently thank your best friend for dragging you to that pub.
After an evening of shameless flirting, Hvitserk had slipped you a piece of paper with his phone number and a note demanding you give him a call to go out sometime. It was something you’d normally never do, but he was such a sweetheart, how could you resist?
He moves back toward you, his hand reaching for yours, Hvitserk is perched on the side of the bed as he leads you over to him. You stand between his legs, pulling his shirt off of his body; you toss it behind you and let it land where it will. He raises his brow and gives you a questioning look. With a quick jerk he pulls you into him, the two of you landing on the bed side by side.
“Come here.” Hvitserk pulls you closer, wrapping his bare arms around you he moves so that your chest is pushed against his. “Good lord, I’ve missed you.” He whispers his breath on your neck as he lays his chin on your shoulder. “It gets mighty lonely without you.”
“That’s what they invented phones for.” You reply with a giggle, remembering the few nights you’d spent talking him through his loneliness. Being alone isn’t the same, but having his voice to help sure doesn’t hurt.
Hvitserk groans. “I hate empty pillow talk. We need to make one of those sex tapes or something, you know for when it’s lonely.” He jokes.
“Do you ever think before you speak?” you ask glancing at him. The last thing you needed was one of his brothers finding that!
“Oh you love me. You know that deep, deep down you love me.” He winks and kisses you.
You shrug knowing that it will drive him nuts not to get an actual reply from you. Hvitserk is good at trying to trick you into saying those three little words. He’d been throwing them around since your first time together, three months ago. He’d kicked everybody away from his and Ivar's apartment for the weekend. The weekend started with you in Ivar’s room and Hvitserk in his own, by the time you got ready to return home the pair of you had christened every inch of their apartment, Hvitserk claimed it was fine; it wasn’t like Ivar hadn’t done it before.
As great as that had been, when you’d returned back home without him, you realized how much it had scared you. Yes, you were head over heels for the man and knew you would never find a better man for you, but sometimes if you rush things it can take the magic away. What you two have is pure magic; at least you believe it is. Hvitserk is kind, caring, funny and all around amazing. You know you’re one lucky girl, he sets the boyfriend standard pretty high.
“I love you, you know it.” You smile with your reply.
“I love you, don’t forget it.” Hvitserk continues his lips now moving down the side of your neck and his hands moving back up the hem of your shirt.
You shift, so that he can unbutton your shirt, your hands moving along his chest and shoulders. Once he has you free from your shirt, Hvitserk licks his lips as his hands work on getting you out of your flannel pj pants that you absolutely hate but Hvitserk loves them on you for some unknown reason, so you wear the sheep print flannel pjs that your grandmother bought you for your birthday last year.
Free of the pjs that you hate so much, you take your turn getting to your prize. With his tee shirt somewhere already on the floor, you gladly help him out if the sweat pants he has been wearing since dinner was finished. As the sweat pants find a home along with his shirt and your clothing on the bedroom floor, you’re quite surprised to see that the sweat pants are all he has been using to cover his lower region.
“Someone was brave.” You comment knowing how he is a bit of a prude, he never goes without a clean pair of undies, it was starting to make you wonder if he was a guy or a grandmother.
“You liked the surprise, don’t lie.” Hvitserk comments straddling you.
Hands roam your body; his hands are slightly rough and chilly as they hit your warm skin. The way he caresses and strokes your side sends a shiver through you; you close your eyes and enjoy the feeling that is brewing in the pit of your stomach, the feeling is one that curls your toes and all he has to do is touch you in the right way and spots of course. When he knows he has you right where he wants you, he takes advantage of the situation and takes this to where you both wanted this to go.
Part of you is scared as hell, after all this is his parents’ house and there is nothing saying somebody won’t hear you. Part of you is excited to be with him, Hvitserk was right it has been a while. Every bit of you is turned on and begging for more of this, you love the way he makes you feel.
You gasp and moan taking a quick breath you whimper, his mouth encloses yours his tongue diving in, taking away your ability to scream. Giving into him, you sigh in contentment and cry when he lets up on the kiss.
“Shh! I said you could be loud, but they’re going to hear if you’re screaming like I am about to murder you.” Hvitserk laughed
Normally you would have some kind of a comeback to that, but right now Hvitserk’s silly comments are the last thing on your mind. You call out his name as he thrusts into you one more time, driving the both of you into a state of bliss. You feel your body relax and sigh happily.
The next thing you know there is a shrill ringing going off in your head, you groan and open your eyes to realized it is an alarm clock. Did Hvitserk really set the alarm on you? Why does he do that to you, he keeps your awake all night and then sets the alarm for...oh god what is that smell? You take a deep breath and that heavenly smell hits you once again. You swing your legs over the bed and reach for your pjs, even if you didn’t need them a few hours ago you sure as hell need them now.
Once you’re dressed you nudge him, not wanting to go upstairs without him. You adore his family, but you’re not ready to face them alone right now. He wakes up after several tries, only to have his pants thrown at him and you demanding him to get dressed. Hvitserk pulls the pants back on, secretly you’re happy he left the shirt out of the equation, you love his body and thoroughly enjoy staring at it whenever you get the chance.
You follow him up the stairs toward that smell, your stomach is growling like crazy now. He opens the basement door and you see his mother pass by.
“Morning sweetie.” Aslaug greets him as he hits the top of the basement stairs.
“Hey mom.” Hvitserk replies giving her a kiss on the cheek and pulling you up the last two stairs.
“Morning Chicky.” You greet his mother as if she were one of your best friends. You get along with her anyway, but you did just desecrate a room in her house with her son, laying it on extra thick this morning won’t hurt.
“Good morning, girlie. Hvitserk didn’t make you sleep in that cold basement did he?” she asked moving her son aside to get closer to you.
It wasn’t that cold... in fact things were pretty hot.
“No, I didn’t make her sleep in the basement. She chose to sleep down there.” Hvitserk cuts in. “Besides, it’s not that cold.”
“Oh!” Aslaug exclaimed wide eyed. Lovely now she knows your business, way to go big mouth you shoot him a dirty look. “Well in that case, you must be hungry good thing I’ve made a big breakfast.”
Family is Forever - Lost Chapter 1
So this takes place a few months after Morana joins the Caelum Family. As in the fic she’s been with them for several years now. Morana and Gladiolus are not dating yet, it’s the flirting before *someone* asks the other out. (I’m not saying who asked out who!) That means they are teenagers!! And this will be written in Morana’s perspective.
Tagging: @zacklover24 @cagedbycravings @blondechocobobutt @rubyphilomela @mandakatt @lady-asuka @chocobabyporcelain @roses-and-oceans @mistressoli @insomniacapples @insomniasix @fieryfantasy @eternallydaydreaming2015 @waifuthewhite @valkyrieofardyn @ardyns-jabberwocky @neko-otaku13
“You know Rana it isn’t quite hard.” Nyx said shaking his head at me, rolling his blue eyes.
“I don’t understand this word!” I hissed loudly staring at the menu in front of us.
It was Friday night the whole Family met in the giant banquet hall to eat, I was sitting next to Nyx tonight. I normally sit next Gladiolus but I was rather upset with him at the moment for he was a asshole earlier today he wouldn’t stop teasing me relentlessly. So I was at first going to sit with Ignis but he was talking to the Capos and I just a new Soldier wasn’t welcomed there. So Nyx Ulric was the only other person here that I felt sort of comfortable talking to.
And here I was being insulted by him, a good five minutes of him joking about the menu and not knowing what it was asking of me. Normally when I sat with Gladiolus he would join in with me if I messed up pronouncing a word or questioned it he would explain it to me without judgement.
Stupid Gladiolus for being a jerk earlier. I looked over at the table he was at talking with Noctis laughing about something. Glaring at him, as we caught each other’s glance the stupid mullet head giving me a wink as he took a sip of his drink.
“I’m sorry I don’t understand ala cart-tee.” I grumbled angrily at Nyx trying to keep my cool, I didn’t want to blow up in front of the whole Family I had done so well so far at not being my typical self in front of them.
“CART-TEE? CART, it’s French! It means you can just order that by itself rather than a combo platter. Oh my sweet Astrals Rana you didn’t know that?! And you pronounced it all funny.” Nyx busted out laughing like mad, rather loudly everyone stopped looking at us.
My eyes darted over to Gladiolus his amber eyes were wide as he heard Nyx’s comments, there was a few sniggers. I felt a rage rising up in my chest as I saw so many people staring at me now, I didn’t need them to find out to know my secret. I haven’t told anyone here. . .I’ve managed so well so far.
“You don’t know how to read properly don’t you?” Nyx asked.
“I KNOW HOW TO READ JUST FINE NYX!” I shouted standing up swatting him angrily with the menu.
“I will not have shouting in the dining hall, Ms Tarda.” The Capo Familigia called out from the front of the room, piercing blue eyes glaring at me.
It was the first time he spoke to me beyond my first day here and it was in anger. Mortified my jaw dropped momentarily, light green eyes staring at him shocked and stunned.
“Yes, Capo Familigia.” I said softly, standing up straight squaring my shoulders.
I wasn’t feeling too hungry now, shoving Nyx to the side knocking him out of his chair and to the floor in a huff I walked out of the room. I heard a few chairs shove back a few inches, I didn’t bother to turn back and see. I didn’t want to see them again, all the shocked looks of people knowing that I couldn’t understand half of what I saw on the paper. That I normally just go by pictures or guess. My writing is even worse barely able to writing in legible print. I try to not write much so people can’t comment on it and when I do I try to keep people from seeing me write. My hand always hurting so much after doing any writing at all.
Heading up the street back to the Caelum Manor I grumbled under my breath the whole way, cursing out his name the entire time. I really didn’t notice that I made it to the gardens behind the Caelum Manor until the fragrant scent of roses hit my nose. Stopping in spot I looked around to take in the lovely scene in front of me, this spot was always calming and nice to be around I love it a lot.
“Oh right he called me pretty over there. . .” I said as I looked over at the patch of gladioli and marigolds that Gladiolus had told me that he thought I looked pretty with my hair down.
Shaking my head I moved over to the gazebo sitting down on the padded bench I looked over at the water fountain that was a statue of the Leviathan water dripping out of its open craw. I didn’t like the fact that everyone knew I couldn’t read. I was feeling incredibly stupid now and I wasn’t fond of the feeling at all, I was trying to be better for this Family they had treated me so well. They took me in when I was left by Izunia nearly dead on the bloody streets. They cared for me and accepted me for all that I am without fault, I wanted to prove to them that I was worthy of this Family.
“Morana?” A calm British tone called out, turning to face it I spotted Ignis Scientia carrying a plate full of food.
“Come to make fun of me, Mr High and Mighty?” I grumbled looking over at him as he stood in front of me.
“No I came to deliver food because apparently Gladio cannot carrying a plate all the sudden. He was concerned about you missing dinner and sent me to investigate.”
“I don’t want pity.” I started, pushing the plate away a little, the smell was so good though my stomach rumbling.
“No it’s not pity, not sure what meal that is, it’s spaghetti.” Ignis retorted sitting down next to me placing the food on my lap, emerald green eyes firm on me.
“Looks like pity to me with a lot of pity sauce in fact. Everyone laughing at me?” I asked as I stabbed at a meatball.
“Nope, well beyond Nyx and perhaps one other but Gladiolus smacked them upside the head.”
“Why is he being so nice?” I commented softly as I ate the dinner.
“He likes you a lot, I hardly see him get this worked up over another girl. I would consider you lucky as you’ve ignored him plenty and given him a hard time and he’s not given up on you.”
“Well he’s being a jerk and calling me all sorts of names lately.”
“I don’t know much about that to be honest Morana.” Ignis said handing a bottle of water for me.
We sat there quiet for a while, as I ate food it was strange to have Ignis watching me like this out of the corner of his eyes. Putting the plate down finishing it I turned to face him, giving him a slight glare.
“What is it you want to say Scientia?” I asked giving him a critical look.
“I can teach you how to read and write you know?” Ignis finally said.
“I can read and write, thank you very much.”
“Sure you know the basics but anything beyond that you are lost and your writing is horrible you are clearly doing something wrong.”
“I don’t need to ‘learn’ from you, four-eyes.” I said feeling insulted and bitter.
“I don’t suggest that insults will get you a gold star, Ms Tarda. This is not a option, you will be taking lessons from me.” Ignis said pushing glasses up the bridge of his nose.
“Ugh!” I said in mock disgust. “I don’t want to go back to school.”
“Well if you were not in the Mafia you would be still in school.” Ignis reasoned, reaching over my lap picking up the plate and standing up. “Tomorrow nine am sharp, first lessons.”
A few weeks later I was in the Ignis’ office just left of Regis’ sitting at his large comfy chair staring at a book. I had been struggling with this book for several hours, I was about to rip it up and burn it right in his smug face. Ignis was sitting on the opposite side, staring at me with his fingers akimbo, sharp eyes watching me speak every word - well struggle with each word. The first two books he had me read a loud I did well in but this one was the devil. It was worse than the head of the Izunia Family himself, it was plain evil. I didn’t want to do this any longer, a giant headache was forming all I wanted to go do was sleep.
“Morana, please continue.”
“I don’t want to Ignis okay? I have a headache and this isn’t helping me any.”
“What part doesn’t make sense?”
“All of it. These words are so confusing.”
“Well Shakespeare did use old English so a lot of words are a challenge for most folk.”
“Yore, thine, hither, all very stupid.” I grunted, resting my head on the desk closing my eyes.
“Here have this it will help with the headache, get up and walk around the room a bit.”
“Not outside to dorms for me to sleep?” I replied sarcastically, taking the pills he handed me and the water.
“No.”
“Can we practice writing today?” I asked eyeing him as I rubbed my temples.
“Well finish this last paragraph and we will.”
Taking a deep breath, focusing on what he had taught me the past few days on how each letter of the alphabet went and how these ‘old’ words sounded out differently than how we spoke currently.
“True, I talk of dreams, which are the children of an idle brain, begot of nothing but vain fantasy, which is as thin of substance as the air. And more inconstant than the wind, who wooes. Even now the frozen bosom of the north, and, being anger’d, puffs away from thence, turning his face to the dew-dropping south.”
“Good job Morana.” Ignis complimented, smiling at me taking the book out of my hands his long fingers brushing against my hands a slight blush going to his lightly tanned skin.
“Thanks,” I replied as he placed a pen and paper in front of me.
There was a few phrases for me to write over it was better than reading that boring book again. I heard a tutting a scrape of the chair on the floor I saw that Ignis was standing behind me now. He leaned into me as he grabbed my hand pulling the pen out of my grip.
“You are holding the whole pen wrong, gripping it like you are trying to choke it.” Ignis quipped, as he corrected my posture and gripping on the pen. “Like this.”
“This doesn’t hurt so much. . .my hand isn’t hurting.” I said after a few sentences, not having to press down on the paper as hard and being able to write smoother as well.
“See much better, handwriting is already better than Gladiolus’. Speaking of Gladio. . .”
“You were speaking of him.” I interjected quickly, stopping what I was doing looking up at him flicking a glare at him.
“I understand but the tension between the two of you is just as high as animosity between you and Nyx is.”
“Ani. . .so-city?” I questioned as I continued to write again.
“Mutual distaste for the other.”
“Oh. . .well Gladiolus told me he wanted to go out with me.”
“And?” The shocked tone wasn’t hidden really well as he looked at me a bit confused.
“I said no.”
“Why? It’s clear the two of you like each other.” Ignis asked, shaking his head unsure what he was seeing, there was a bit of a wistful look in his eyes.
“I like him and all but I am not sure. . .”
“Sure about what?”
“If he really wants to be any sort of serious. And why in the Astrals sweet world am I tell you this shit? Like what drugs did you give me? Did you drug me horribly Scientia!?”
“No Morana I promise you it’s just aspirin.”
“Ugh laced with something horrible. Not talking about Mullet Head okay? How do you dra-write a capital ‘z’?” I said turning back to the writing.
Several weeks later I was walking down the hallway to the library, to visit on my own not to look for Gladiolus to pull him away for a mission or a lesson with Ignis. As he like to do lessons in his office and the library. This was just to go by myself, it felt strange now but also exciting and thrilling. Heading to the science fiction section I found the book I had been slowly reading for the past two days. I wasn’t really fast but it was enjoyable to read now, picking up the book I found a nice spot in the sun to read. It was Sunday a day of relaxation in the Family I could read here all day and finish the book, hopefully.
A few hours later I was interrupted by a man making his way into the library, spotting burning amber eyes staring at me predatory like was Gladiolus. Plucking out a random book he walked over to the chair next to me looking at me over the top of the book a longing look on his face. We haven’t spoken since I told him no the other day. From what Ignis told me he is upset that I said no, that no one has ever told him no several times in a row. Torturing him was getting fun, teasing him until he got so frustrated. Perhaps that is mean of me but no one calls me a spoiled princess because I didn’t like camping all that much.
“When will you say yes?” Gladiolus asked rather loudly.
“Shush, it’s a library you are suppose to be quiet. Suppose to be reading you know that? Reading is quite fun.”
“You are reading Robert Aspirin. . .” Gladiolus remarked.
“Just because you don’t like the satirical writing of him doesn’t mean I don’t.” I taunted using a new word I learned from the book, sticking my tongue out at Gladiolus.
“Just say yes.”
Day 01 - Magic Kingdom
Instead of a summary this time around, I'll try to sum up the day in a few words and sentences with a TLDR (too long; didnt read). Mostly to save me from repeating myself too much but also means you can skip on me droming on about nothing.
So the TLDR for today: Magic Kingdom. Custom t-shirts. Magic Bands. Really worth it. Got a good few rides in and hit 2 out of 3 of the mountains. Went for lunch at Belle's castle. Hot, hot, hot. Seen the 3pm parade. Missed out on a few rides but we'll get them in on a return. Everyone really enjoyed it and kicked the holiday off really well. Didnt hit dinner till late. Caught in a thunderstorm on the way home. Soaked.
And now...
First things first, or is that now second. Anyway, I may have missed one or two details in my less than awake state which had an impact on todays events. We had planned, all going well, that we would head to Disney Springs (previously Downtown Disney) to get some Magic Bands - a watch-y thing that replaces your park ticket making it easier for Fast Passes and the like. With all the delays and the tiredness of yesterday it just wasnt a thing we were able to do. Ah well, best laid plans and all that. It meant however that we now had to try and pick them up when we hit the park today, pushing out our plans slightly.
Some of us got personalised t-shirts made up (with our name and a specially selected Disney character), so today was a perfect opportunity to wear them. We skipped on breakfast, and didnt have any bottled water to make a coffee (normally eek but ok for this morning, strangely). Not too hungry anyway so headed to my mum and dad's hotel to pick them up. They are in the same hotel as my sister, so its really convenient as a meet up point as my brother was picking them up in his car and its between both of our hotels. We were pretty spot on time for it being the first day so off we set for Magic Kingdom.
Parked up and within five minutes we stumbled upon a wee gift shop that sold Magic Bands - woohoo! They have different colours and design so Ann picked up a nice wee 45th Anniversary Limited edition number. Patrick went for Sorcerers Apprentice (to match his tshirt.) Robert went for Up (to match his tshirt AAAND favourite Disney movie). Grace went for Orange Bird, who is a wee orange bird (funnily enough) who used to appear is old, Disney animations. We picked up a cup one time on the first visit to Disney (in 2013) and that cup had Orange Bird on it, and Grace has had an affinity with the character ever since. I went for Aladdin. Mum and Dad picked some funky coloured bands and we headed off to the park entrance. Spotted some of the other party (the ones in the second car) in their custom t-shirts so sped up to meet them just in time to board the ferry to the Magic Kingdom entrance. Tshirts already coming in handy with finding peeps, so colour matching tees in the way to go for future outings I think! Ferry was lovely and all of the kids were getting really excited.
So me trying to Facebook Live the Magic Kingdom entry was a complete and utter failure. I didnt even know how to start the thing - I should be as ashamed, calling myself a techie. Though I did get slightly reprimanded taking my phone out as they had a no selfie policy at security, prior to going in. He had a gun, so I pretty much did what he said and put my phone away. I fell back on my trusty Go-Pro (that I havent used since last time, but how hard can it be, right?). Video to follow as my laptop is ancient and I can barely run wordpad nevermind a full 1080p video clip.
Full of smiles we headed in and once we stocked up on some water, a first visit badge for Emily and the others picked up their magic bands, we had 20 minutes to get to to our first fast pass - Splash Mountain in Frontier Land (good job I knew the way :P). Bypassed some rides as well as an opportunity to get Dole Whip (marked down on our initial plans), but we made the ride with 5 minutes to spare - phew!
Magic Kingdom Mountains 1 & 2... check!
Splash mountain. All of the family (save for my Mum, Alessio and Isabella) hit up the ride and it was AWESOME! Grace was quite panicky so was a little clingy (even though she'd been on it before) but Emily and Corrie both first timers absolutely loved it. And for our efforts, our first family ride photo! :D
Then we headed to Big Thunder straight after - ended up riding on my jack jones which was arite though as I go pro-ed the whole thing (our party's reactions, not the ride itself). We did also get a video for our memory maker which we have never had before but its a really fantasticly amazing this to have (even if the photographers does make you hold invisible fairies and set you up in a variety of cheesy poses).
On a role, we then hit Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World (GG's personal fave), Mickey's Philharmagic AND Peter Pan all before lunch. Not bad, for running an hour or so later off plan.
Be. Our. Guest!
Due to availability and a LOT of pre-planning, our wee family were the only ones booked in to Be Our Guest today. We said our goodbyes to the rest of the party and after arranging a meet up point and time we set off for a now, very much needed, lunch. We decided on some really nice menu choices, including a monster Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Barbequed Pulled Pork. The guys also got the infamous "Grey Stuff" for dessert, which seemed to be the kids favourite course of the day. However the star of the show for me was the French Onion Soup which was sublimely awesome (I'd eat this every day and I'm really really not a soup guy!).
We caught back up with the rest of the party after lunch just in time for the 3pm parade, which was only listed as a might-do due to time so really impressed we managed it. Time to get the zoom lens out! :D A side note on cameras - last time we were here I opted to take a reasonably good performing compact camera instead of my main SLR, for accessiblity purposes. While it was good, I always missed the feel and added control of my main camera, so this year its the exact opposite - Im gonna be a packhorse. Quality over comfort! The parade was really colourful and with the smaller kiddos were put up on shoulders so they had a perfect view (however I must add, its quite difficult to take quality photos through a 70-200mm lens mounted on a 5D with a flashgun, I'll have you know).
After cycling through most of the main Disney Princess movies in the Parade (except Frozen, which was kinda dissapointing, mainly as *I* wanted to see Elsa), Mickey and Mickey signed off the show to resounding cheers and waves and applause.
ROARRRRRRR!!!
A little time to go before our last listed Fast Pass of the Day - Seven Dwarves Mine Train, so we queued up for Enchanted Tales With Belle beforehand. The main premise is that kids (and some adults), volunteer to get chosen to reeact a little scene with Belle. For one of the main roles, The Beast, kids must roar their loudest and Grace got chosen! (though I shouldnt really be surposed by that). She was all chuffed and kept saying her and Robert had switched roles from last time with Robert now playing the part of the mighty steed Snaggleforp, or whatever the horses name is (its late and and I'm not going to google Belle's hor..., right fine... its Phillipe). Patrick, Robert, Corrie and Emily were also picked to be part of the show. Even Kevin was picked as a Knight in shining armor - which he played brilliantly (mostly it was about standing still, but still, brilliantly). They all got presented with a little bookmark as a small token, at the end for taking part.
By now, everyone was feeling a little drained so decided after Seven Dwarves that we would head for home and grab a bite to eat. We are going to be back at Magic Kingdom at least one other time when we can prioritize Tomorrowland, so everyone was on board. Seven Dwarves, I ended up on my own again after having lost my little sidekick Gracie (who opted out of the ride). I didn't mind though as I had my Gopro already to go again. I was slotted in on the first seat with a lady, who immediately asked my name and introduced herself (as Martha?... maybe, it was loud and after two attempts of saying 'what' you just need to go along with it). She just started chatting away all through the ride. In fact, just today loads of people just started up full blown convo's with me out of the blue - I mustve been rocking a approachable/chatterbox vibe in my backward facing hat and camera loadout. Those of you who know me, know me as anything but (listen I try, but I'm the first to admit I'm pretty terrible with words and interesting conversation at times). That being said, it was great to chat with so many different people around the world and just goes to show how friendly and amazing this place really is.
A wee cheeky ride on the Speedway for a few folk, a quick tee shirt pic in front of the castle and we headed home.
An absolutely amazing day with Splash mountain being the clear favourite for most of the kids. And although we missed out on a section or two, we still got loads of rides in and everyone was content with general flow how the day. With everyone on the same wavelength I think its gonna make this holiday a really magical one (sorry for the being soppy, Im getting tired, but we're nearly there).
Thunder and Lightning, very very frightening.
Michael & Sarah-Jane decided to grab some dinner and get an early night so we said our goodbyes for the day. We headed out to the shop after getting back to the hotel to grab so Beers and water (in order of priority obvs), as well as a few other bits and pieces. We then met up with my Mum, Dad, Kev, Pauline and Emily to go for a bite to eat (I just realised I havent formall introduced everyone in the party, Ill get around to that tomorrow, promise). With it being a Saturday most places were pretty packed and after checking out a few places (unsuccessfully), we ended up in Johnny Rockets (which Robert pointed out was where we went the second night the last time after failing to find a place - kids memorys are scary at times). We got seated but the service was SLOOOOOW! I can fault our waitress too much though, she brought me over a freee refill pretty much as soon as I finished my first drink. It instantly reminded me of Steve Buchemi's in that infamous Diner scene at the beginning of Reservoir Dogs...
Mr. Pink: Look, I ordered coffee, alright? And we been here a long *bleeping* time and she's only filled my cup three times. When I order coffee I want it filled six times.
Ok, so it wasnt six times, it was one time, and it wasnt coffee (mmm coffee, I really shoulda went with coffee now that I think about it), but it was the single good thing about the service and one that warranted the tip even if it didnt meet Mr. Pink's stringent tipping criteria.
I actually haven't had an appetite since those prissy little sammiches on the plane. Even at Belle's castle and I wasnt particulary hungry even when we sat down at Johnny Rockets. But hey, do they mak a mean burger! Opted for a Smokehouse, which included some Bacon-y goodness and crispy onion rings - good stuff and nearly worth the wait, nearly... but then again it was a long wait. So the whole experience was fairly ok but then it took a big huge nose dive to round off the night...
When we left the restaurant, its was bucketing it down. I know coming from Scotland we should be used to a little rain, but this was torrential, and we got huge flashes & bangs of thunder and lightening thrown in, in good measure. Big Rain as Grace so eloquently put it (shes just brilliant with words). Our hotel was right across the road, which was handy, but we had to leave the other guys to struggle to their hotel which was pretty much a mile away :(
Ok, I'm delivering this really late and have no time to edit so apologies, I must try harder during the day in future. The images are also taking an age to download, so might not have all the ones I want in by the time this goes up, though Ill try to add more later in maybe a weekly slideshow or something. See you tomorrow for Day 02 - Epcot which will which will likely being unofficially subtitled - Battling The Storm!
