Being the lady-in-waiting to Princess Zelda, the opportunities to fraternize with Link were plentiful. Awkward to be sure at first– the knight seemed to have a special relationship with the Princess that didn’t seem to extend to others in the vicinity, you quickly found as the duties you accomplished together were always done over long stretches of silence. Not that he was ever rude to you or made you insecure about your working relationship, but it was clear he was an objective-first type of person and that was understandable, as you were both servants to the royal family.
But in a moment of coincidence, of weakness, all of that came to an end.
You tripped and he had tried to catch you before you fell. The reason suddenly no longer mattered as you locked on the solitary knight’s piercing blues, all too aware of how his body was lumbering so close to yours, somehow having tumbled above you in the scuffle.
He should get up. He needs to get up but his arms caged by your sides lock in place. He can’t move because he doesn’t want to move.
You end up kissing him, the impulse like a jolt to your system. His lips are stiff at first, innocent but he soon relents, learning with you. He learns from you.
So it sure is convenient the two of you interact so often.
It makes it easy for you to get away with moments like this, where you’re pressed deep into the corner of one of the castle’s many chambers by none other than the knight himself. When he should be tending to his duties, he’s with you, making you bend over obscenely for him as he milks your pussy of every drop it’s got.
You tremble, calves twitching as your cunt takes another load. You shiver, hiss escaping your barely parted lips as you feel a particularly thick glob slide down your leg. Your pussy feels feather light, your nerves twitching with sparks as you force your excited body to swiftly return to normal, lest anyone catch on to your little rendezvous with the knight.
You meet him another time in the barracks, intending only to deliver a message on behalf of the Princess but instead you’re being hoisted high up, his toned muscles flexing so tersely as he forces you into a full nelson position, your legs dangling helplessly as he stuffs you with inches of his swollen cock. You whimper, pussy never tiring of the man shoving it all inside you until your insides feel like mush. Until your insides start to crave him.
He doesn’t talk much and he does when he’s with you, only it’s with his mouth moving against your ears as he whispers your name. Whispers that you’re so tight as his hips swing in an upward jerking motion, stretching your hole wide with the thickness of his girth. Grunts once, twice, all the way until he’s done flooding your gummy walls with his opaque cum.
So yes, you’re close to all servants of the royal family. Some more than others.

(Headcanon) ages for the lads I need to write down before I forget
Descending order of oldest to youngest
Time: obviously the oldest, but I don’t think he’s that super old yet. I put him at early 30s at the youngest, mid-30s at oldest. However he was born to be 50 years old so he comes off as such. Definitely knows wood working and dreams about redoing the shingles on the ranch’s roof. (They’re getting so BAD just let him FIX IT Malon, he’s faced off with the moon he can fix a ROOF by himself)
Warriors: 23-24, but always at least one year older than twilight (he likes to boast about it. Twilight couldn’t care less.) maybe sounds a bit younger than his actual age though.
Twilight: 22-23, always a year younger than Warriors. He’s had about 6 or so years since his journey, and while he’s done well to heal from it, there’s lingering pains in his heart. No matter how old he gets tho, he still hates big crowded places.
Alright for the rest of these I should state this: I think everyone is 18+ EXCEPT for Hyrule, Wind and Four. Idk it just feels right to me :]
Sky: 20, the sleepiest 20 year old you’ll ever meet. I think he’s taken up assistant teaching at the academy when he visits Skyloft. It’s only been about 3 years since his journey, but he’s doing alright, don’t mind the constant melancholy he carries in his gaze he’s fine, he’s fine, really!
Wild: 19. Technically, he should be 22 if we’re accounting for the TOTK year gap (I think it’s 5 years) but if we’re talking before TOTK but post BOTW, I think he’s about 19 or so. Still has not figured out how to work a proper stove.
Legend: 19, Acts way older than he seems. He likes to present this image of being an adult and whatnot, but at the end of the day he’s still kinda a teenager at heart (his childhood was kinda stolen from him.) Rarely let’s anyone bear his burdens for him, even for a short while. (Twilight is on a mission to change this)
Hyrule: 17, the only one who is a minor and not under 15. I think he feels awkward at first being the “middle child” of the younger members but he gets over it. Gets a major growth spurt at 20, don’t know why but it happens.
Four: 14, always a year older than Wind, and it pissed wind off endlessly. Despite being 14, he’s still the shortest and has the most feminine / younger sounding voice (he’s a late bloomer, but he’ll get there one day!) Burnout gifted kid.
Wind: 13. Baby, group baby little man tiny guy. He’s so fucking mad about his young age dude. And while the others haven’t necessarily babied him for it, there’s definitely an air of delicacy and kindness they show him that’s usually given to kids. But when he re-enacts how he killed his Ganondorf on an enemy, they tone it down a bit.
This morphed into some side headcanons as well but eh it’s fine

Unnatural Coincidences / Part 1
Parts 1 2 3 4 Epilogue
You have been in Hyrule for a while now, and some things just cannot stay hidden anymore.
General Info & Warnings: -This will be a four part story for now, with the last part (3&4) being the most explicit. There is a potential to expand the non-explicit parts, if there is interest. -If you are under 18, please do not read this. You have been warned. -Italic words like this mean the words in "your language", as they are speaking Hylian with each other. -Feel free to comment, if you think instead of (Y/N) this story should be written from first or second person POV (or it should be an OC) Pairing: Zelda x Fem!Reader x Link
It was another one of those early mornings, (y/n) has been hiking the mountains with Link before work, taking the scenery in. They stopped by the lake, and looked at how the sun sparkled on top of the water. This was simply unreal.
That’s because it wasn’t. At least, not from her point of view.
Around 3 years ago, she has somehow ended up in post-calamity BotW world, with most of her knowledge from our own world intact. It wasn’t that long that she came across Link and Zelda, who are living together but are not together (though one could absolutely feel the vibes there). Everybody has their own room in that house.
It is another story for another time, but those three are quite close now. She is now working together with Zelda & Purah, researching the history of Hyrule all the way back to Creation, publishing papers together and recording the knowledge. Link is technically still a knight, though the castle’s renovations are not quite there yet after the fight with Ganon.
“Heh, never seen a lake before? You seem quite amazed.”
Link didn’t speak that much unprompted, but when he did it always had a flavor. She chuckled, she absolutely had a crush on him but thought it was unfair. She had a crush on a fictional character, who absolutely had feelings for Zelda. It probably didn’t count, no? Not like she can’t enjoy a bit of harmless flirting every now and then either way.
“It just looks so beautiful, I’m also kind of tired after a 10 km hike up here. Not everybody has your stamina wheels and strong… bottom muscles, Mr. Hero.” she made a gesture, but did not stare, at his ass.
He did not register it at first.
“My bottom wha-… You creep!” he laughed.
Link and Zelda got used to the way she was talking. When they first met, they didn’t even understand a word she said, literally. She didn’t speak any Hylian, them being who they are (and Zelda also having scientific curiosity), they taught her Hylian, and with a little bit of help from the Great Fairies, enhanced her learning abilities to speed up the process. It was quite obvious for them that she had an idea about the world they live in, and more.
They know that (y/n) is from another ‘dimension’ (not that hard to believe for them I suppose, with all the magic and science simply existing together in this realm). They were the ones who found her in the Temple of Time, but the part that she knows them from a video game series, has not been discussed… yet. She wasn’t actively trying to hide it either though. So there was still trust between them.
She is thinking of breaking it to them at some point. There hasn’t been a big quest of “sending her back”, though she is sure Zelda has her own agenda, and Link is probably in on it. Good thing about them, they don’t pry if they feel like they are making you uncomfortable. They probably also do feel that you are hiding something from them, though.
“Aaaah, I’m just SO looking forward to this evening though!” she said while getting up and stretching.
“Wine and Lon Lon cheese at the cottage? Of course.” Link also got up and started filling his water pouch. “And having Purah create a game on the Slate. Can’t wait to try it!*”
Oh how cute he was trying to pronounce unfamiliar words.
“That, and how you and Zelda are going to act with each other after some booze gets into your system.”
(Y/N) giggled and Link was kind of red on top of his pointy ears. There must have been something off however, as what she said made Link stop for a second and looked seriously at her face, as if she… looked hurt.
“Something on my face?”
“(y/n)…”
“It’s OK, Link. I’m not blind. I can see how you look at her.”
“It’s complicated.”
“Nothing is that complicated, silly. If I were on the top of the Central Hyrule Tower, I could still see it from there without the scope. Still don’t get why you don’t tell her. So I’m hoping some wine would help. Or should I tell her?”
Meanwhile she started walking back down the path. The path was extremely steep.
“No!” he snapped and held her arm firmly to stop her. She has NEVER seen him snap before. Nobody did. He was the embodiment of self control.
She was quite startled, so while yanking her arm off from Link’s grasp, she ended up tripping backwards on the slope. Link ended up catching her right on time to protect her head, but they rolled up a little bit down on the path, till they hit a tree to stop them. Thank Farore.
Now Link was on top of her, staring right into her eyes, intensely. It was… uncomfortably close. His knee was actually kind of between her thighs. If only it moved a bit more up... Oh Hylia, she was supposed to think of survival, but all she could think of was how the current situation could be something completely different right now.
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
“N-no I don’t think so. Are you…”
“I’m fine.”
They were both already breathing heavily from the fall. (Y/n) more so, she didn’t have the personal fitness level he had. Why did it feel as if they were getting even closer? Was this breathing certainly from all the rolling?
“Hey…” she spoke softly.
“Sorry, I kind of snapped.” He was still not moving from where he was, and the stare was still not broken. She knew she was supposed to say something, move or wiggle around. She felt so selfish. Link and Zelda belonged together. She shouldn’t get in between them. What if it affects the future of Hyrule or something? But again, not like there is a rule that they end up together anyway…
“It’s OK, Link. But what’s going on?”
“You mean that I am dense, but so are you.” he seemed serious. Oh Goddesses, why was he still on top of her?
“What?”
“You are right. I do have feelings for Zelda.”
It felt like a bucket of cold water trickling down from her head to her heart. She knew this, but it was never said out loud. Maybe a part of her did want to have something with him. But this, this felt like even that bridge was burned. Pandora’s box was opened. Her eyes started to water.
“News flash.”
“What?”
“Nothing, some dirt got into my eyes..” she broke the stare and looked at the side.
“(y/n), look at me.” he moved her head gently back to the center. She wasn’t able to speak. She didn’t know what to say. How can she ever explain it to him?
“Don’t.” (y/n) somehow managed to weakly get it out from her mouth. He stopped. The stare didn’t. He was staring into her soul. Trying to get some words out. Could it be that he…?
“But (y/n), I also…” he started. This, this was getting unbearable. For both of them it seemed. Still, she didn’t let him finish the sentence. So what, not like ZeLink was ever totally canon anyway? This is Legend of Zelda, everybody has their interpretation, right? But.. He was so close, his eyes were piercing through her (e/c) ones. Her hair was touching the grass, his leg between hers felt even closer to her center. She could swear, maybe it touched a little bit. She noticed his face was also red. No, it must be wind and cold. She was getting lost in her thoughts. She was going to take the gamble that Link was trying to say something good. At least, she could at least experience this in her life here. This selfish moment, she wanted for herself.
“Ah, fuck it!”
She pulled him into a kiss. Link did not even flinch at first.
...and then he started kissing her back.
She put her hands in his head, gently moving her fingers through his hair. His leg finally, albeit involuntarily, moved up, his knee brushing right between her legs. A silent yet soft moan escaped her. She could feel his smirk through the kiss. She took advantage and rolled him on his back, ending on top of him, using one of her hands on the tree behind them for balance at first. He pulled her in close once again and started kissing her neck and coming back to her lips. His hands were slowly circling her back. Still keeping it safe, what a gentleman. A gentleman with a bulge directly growing under her very lady-like parts. For her to feel.
This was also the wake-up call for her. She broke the kiss and looked at him. They were both panting. She finally crossed her legs to get off of him and quickly got up. They couldn’t look at each other in the eye. Link also got up.
“We… we should go.” she said, looking over the path down, pretending to fix her cloak.
“Y-yeah. You need to go to the lab, right?”
“Yes.”
They started walking down the path.
She was feeling quite conflicted, but damn, it felt so good. She wanted more. HE wanted more. Alas, there was sincerely no time. They had to talk about this later.

DAILY BRAINROT
I had a weird, disjointed dream last night, so if none of this makes sense, then that's fine. 😅
Anyway, this plot centers around Legend. He's been through all his LoZ games, except maybe for EoW. I didn't write anything about it in my notes, so I'm assuming he just wasn't really around when it went down, or it's happening while this plot is happening at the same time. Either way, I don't think it really matters, but EoW is technically attached to his era somehow. That's the important part.
Now the two biggest changes are Wild and Wind's quests/adventures.
Wild has been through BotW and TotK at this point. But he's also been through LU. So, general order of events was BotW -> LU -> TotK. Now he's in the middle of the current plot and solidly in his 20s, about where you'd normally put Warriors, I think.
Wind is not the Link from ST. He did WW -> LU -> PH -> WoE, breaking things up like Wild. So during LU he only had stuff left over from WW. So there's still that weird flip-flop time travel nonsense with WoE, and he's a young adult now. Closer to 18-20, which is weird to think about it.
The others haven't exactly aged as dramatically, but there was something different about Four that I don't really remember. Probably has to do with splitting up FS and FSA as different events spaced further apart.
But the point is that LU has already happened for everyone except Legend. For some reason he's gotten himself stuck either just before LU or during it. So by a really weird twist of time travel he hasn't aged up from canon, but he's also the youngest now.
According to everyone else, he's been acting weird for a little while now, but no one knew why. And then this just happened one day, and it's probably Legend's fault, but he doesn't remember finishing LU and going home at the end, so he's just as confused as they are.
Also, for some random reason, Legend was supposed to be Zelda (was born to the king and queen) but was trans and thus never acquired any of Hylia's abilities because she's a goddess and Just Knows Stuff I guess. His cousin was supposed to be next in line and also turned out to be trans, thus ending up with Hylia's abilities and they sort of just... switched places??
And then there's this side plot sort of like OoT, except Legend's like... way more murderous than baby Time and trying to kill Ganondorf 24/7 while Fable is trying to convince him to stop because they can't just murder the Gerudo diplomat.
sorry for not answering this yesterday, BUT I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS OH MY GOD. THIS IS INCREDIBLE. CHEWING ON THIS. I LOVE IT.

Age headcanons for the LU boys
So, for Gift Of Family I need to know all of the boys ages for when they're adopted and when the last of them is adopted. However, this meant that I had to figure out not only their age order but how close I could get the boys to their canonical ages as possible. So, I'm going to share with you my findings of not only how old I think each Link is in Jojo's comic but also how old I think they are in each of their games based on vibes, official nintendo art, Jojo's art, and Jojo's past QnA stuff. Let's begin.
Time
Time is both the easiest and trickiest. To avoid the trickiness, I decided to ignore his mental age and just focused on his physical age.
For Ocarina of Time, I've put Time as 9/16. First of all, we know he's a kid, maybe the youngest of all the Links, though I doubt it. But most of my reasoning for putting Time at 9 when he starts his adventure is simply because, ever since I was a kid, I thought it was a canonical fact that Time was 9 when he left Kokiri Forest. I don't know where I got this information, I can't find any proof of this being true, but nostalgia is very good at her job and I haven't seen anything from Jojo disproving this fact. So Time starts OoT at 9 and travels seven years in the future, making him also 16 at the same time.
Majora's mask was much easier. I hadn't made Time age up from 9 to 10 during OoT and, when MM opens, Time is actively trying to hunt Navi down. So i don't believe Time can be any younger than 10 when he runs into the Skull Kid. In fact, I believe he is ten during the entirety of MM, seeing as it only takes three days and Time doesn't really look any different then he did in OoT except maybe a little bit more maturity in promotional art. So, Time is no younger then 10 but no older then 12.
During LU I'd bargain that Time is exactly 30 years old. Jojo has stated that not only is Time the physically oldest of the Chain but she's also stated that it's been around 20 years since the end of his last adventure. I took the 20 year limit literally and decided that it'd been exactly 20 years since MM ended. And since I figure that Time was 10 at the time, Time is now 30 years old. I can see an argument for both 29 and 31 but there's not much of an argument outside of that.
Warriors
Canonically the comic's second oldest Link, Warriors is also one of the oldest heroes in his own game. Asuming that his only game inspiration is Hyrule Warriors, Definitive Edition not included, we can assume that Jojo's statement of Warriors being "about 6-7 years" out of his initial adventure is the only numbers we need.
We'll be basing Sky and Twi off of Warriors age scoring too but Warriors age actually came down to US military ages. While you can join the military at 16 (as far as I understand it) most people in training are 18 or older. While Hyrule is a fictional nation, we can assume that their age of maturity is either 17 or 18, seeing as BotW is very dependent on the Calamity arriving on Zelda's 17th birthday because she can only go to the Spring of Wisdom at the age of 17.
So with the numbers 17 and 18 to work with, my new moto was established. "When in doubt, go for the higher number." With this moto in mind, I decided that, as a recruit/trainee/whatever Warriors is at the beginning of his game, he's probably 18. And, with the idea that HW took around a year to finish, if not longer, then Warriors would end his adventure at 19.
So with Warriors at 19 by the end of his adventure, we can take Jojo's higher break number (BN for short), Warriors would have had 7 years between HW and LU. So one simple math problem later, I've figured out that the most likely age for Warriors to be is 26. I would have personally liked him to be a year older so he can be even closer to Time's age but he's more likely to be 25 than he is 27, so 26 it is.
Twilight
The third oldest, this is the first big age gap of the Chain (not taking Time into account because there was always going to be a large gap for him). Now, despite how old he seems in TP, I don't actually think he reaches the age of maturity, which, for the context of the Chain in particular, we will not be counting as anything younger than 19 because of Jojo's words early on in LU's existence.
I don't believe it's Nintendo canon but when I was younger I'd heard somewhere that Twi's age was 16 and, later on, learned that he was more likely 17. So I decided that 17 was the number I would be going with. Twi's BN was 4-5 so I took the 5 and made 17 into 22. Therefore, Twilight is the easiest Link to figure out and sits as a young adult which, yes, contradicts some of Jojo's earlier statements but I've taken Jojo's latest QnA as gospel for most all of my headcanons and anything that contradicts that is free game to be thrown out the window. Besides, it's not all a contradiction for Twi because...
Sky
Sky was another big dictator for the Chain's ages as a whole for one big reason. Early on, Jojo had considered Sky and Twi to be of similar age but Twi was probably older because he acted more mature. So, for a long time, I just considered them being the same age but, after doing the math, I have come to realize that Jojo has a little more grounds in saying that Twi is not part of the young adult gang. Not a lot more ground, but still more.
My first clue to this was that Twi's BN was 4-5 while Sky's was 1-2. This seemed like a large problem but then I remembered that Sky is one of the oldest canonical Links, if not the oldest in canon games (not counting Wild in TotK, who is an actual adult).
My next clue for Sky's age was the Knight's Academy. Though I could have gone with military age like I did with Warriors, as Sky is a newly minted knight, I decided to go by the educational system. In the US, high school ends at 12th grade, which makes most every student 18/19 when they graduate. For the Knights Academy I compared it to your average boarding school with high school grades. So that would make Sky, at youngest, 18 at the start of his adventure. And, to stay with my moto, I decided he could age to be 19 during his adventure.
With Sky now at 19, we can now add two years to make 21. Not as old as I would like Sky to be, as I love thinking about Sky and Twi being twins, but it's a lot closer then I could have hoped for in any form of canon.
Wild
The Chain's perpetual middle child, he is both, very technically, the youngest and the oldest of the heroes depending on how you look at it and how you count his age. However, since we're going for physical age, it's actually easy to figure out Wild's age.
Though there's an argument for everything from Wild being 16 during BotW all the way to being around 20, I believe he's actually 18 when he wakes up in the shrine. This is for three reasons.
The first is that Wild can't get a noble pursuit, so at the very least he is not past the age of maturity.
The second reason is that he is allowed to go to the Spring of Wisdom with Zelda. While he doesn't go into the spring himself, I doubt he would have been allowed near it if he wasn't at least 17. We've seen that Zelda had other people to travel with when Link was unavailable, as seen whenever she's in Gerudo Town without enemies pursuing her. It's clear no one was expecting the Calamity to start on Zelda's birthday, so there wouldn't be an immediate need for Link to break tradition just to protect Zelda.
The third reason is that adults flirt with Link after he wakes up. This may seem strange to point out because flirty characters are in many Zelda game but in BotW it's almost like there are no weird connotations, it's just adults interacting with each other. Still suggestive but it's silly and relaxed in most cases instead of a gross joke or something to appeal to teen boys. This implies that Link is at least recognized as an adult. And since, in BotW, the age of maturity is 17 at the youngest, I went a year higher and decided Wild was probably 18, maybe being 19 by the end of his adventure.
With the added fact that LU starts a handful of months after BotW, Wild can be no younger than 19 in LU. However, as the moto goes, older is always better and, because I think BotW takes nearly two years for Wild to finish, I decided that Wild was more likely to be 20 by the beginning of LU.
Legend
The last of the young adult squad, this guy was a challenge to pin down. He's done so much and it's so tricky to just choose time periods for him, it was nearly impossible to decide where to start or end. However, to make things simpler, I decided that each adventure takes a year to complete and the next adventure will only start around a year later. the exception to this is me mixing OoS/OoA/LA together for one long year of crazy adventures.
First thing's first, let's start going backwards. Jojo says it's only been around a year since Legend's last adventure, which is where I took the 1 year BN rule from. So, with that in mind, I wanted to find a number that kept him as young as possible while still making him undeniably an adult in the LoZ canon. So, 19 was my ending number for his age in LU.
After that was ALBW. Subtracting one year, he would be 18 by the end of that. And because of all that goes on in the story and that fact Legend is still very close to Ravio, I decided they knew each other for at least a year during that adventure. That puts Legend at 17 when he first encounter's Yuga and Ravio.
Subtracting a year from that, we get LA and Legend is now at sweet 16. This was honestly a surprise because I thought for sure Legend would be too young at this point to feel genuine feelings of romantic love but when I did the math I got 16 and it finally made sense why Marin would have such a big impact on him. As a person who struggles to have an understanding of romance, 16 was when I started understanding why people got crushes in the first place. So this makes perfect sense to me and matches Jojo's Legend sketches from this time period, as well as Jojo's design of Marin.
Now subtracting a year, which I will explain in a moment, we have Legend at 15 for the Oracle games. This came as a relief to me because seeing Din and Nayru for the first time, I immediately thought they looked too old to be shipped with Link. However, this feels slightly less creepy, but only slightly. Now, I subtracted a year because I had lumped these games together, and combining that with the two ocean travel times, decided that the ocean trifecta games had probably passed his birthday before he ever got back to Hyrule. So Legend is 15 when he lands in one of the countries.
Subtracting a year, we're all the way to the beginning with Legend being 14 when he defeats Ganon for the first time. However, I wasn't satisfied with him starting at the age of 14. Despite Nintendo's official art having Legend look like a teen in ALttP promotional material, art for later games in his story have him looking vaguely, if not noticeably younger. So I decided to play it safe and hack off one more year from the poor guy, making him unlucky 13. I honestly thought he would be twelve but him landing on a notoriously unlucky number just felt right and, honestly, it felt like it was destiny. Legend probably hates the number 13 now.
Before you ask me where Triforce Heroes comes into this mess, please don't. Not only does that game have three Links, not just Legend, Jojo has confirmed that Legend is not one of the heroes from Triforce Heroes. So let that mess stay in it's own little corner of the universe. We can question it another day.
Hyrule
For Hyrule, I actually have a semi-canonical age to work with. I can't find the evidence anymore because I forgot where it was, but in AoL, Hyrule is 16 when he saves the sleeping Zelda. And with Jojo's confirmation that LU takes place around two years after his adventure ended, that makes Hyrule 18. Hyrule is the entire reason I have such a weird maturity line, because Jojo categorized him as a teen but he's more likely to be considered an adult in Hyrule by now. Whatever.
The tricky one is the original LoZ. In promotional art he looks significantly younger but there's no way to cross reference this with Jojo's work because all of her Hyrule art is from AoL and after, as far as I can tell. So I had to get creative.
The age I think of for most Links in the LoZ universe is 12. This is for a specific reason I won't get into (Wind) but essentially all of the Links look like kids and teenagers, especially the toon Links and the pixelated Links. So I debated putting him at twelve but, when comparing the official art to the 12 year olds in my life, I decided he looked slightly older and settled on him being 13.
Four
Our next age gap, Four is a tricky one. He acts super mature and confident for his age but he's also super small for his age. So literally any age could be argued for him. In fact, I've seen arguments for everything from 12 to 30. So I had to start from the canon.
Jojo has stated that it's been two years since Four finished his last adventure. From this point forward, because Four knows who Ganon is, we'll be assuming that FSA is one of his adventures. So, assuming Four took one year between adventures, Four starts adventuring at 14. This is the oldest Four could be when he started his first adventure, not considering the times it took to complete his adventures and considering that out maturity age line is 19, Four being categorized as a teen with Hyrule and Wind.
Moving on with the number 14, I decided to start adding the adventure times. MC canonically takes a day, so that was out of the equation already. I don't know the canonical time progression of the FS games so I decided that they would each take half a year because they're rather short games. This now leaves our highest number at 13.
Now, unlike Legend, a one year break between games doesn't make sense for Four. He's more relaxed then Legend, with his confidence coming from him working on himself rather than from experience like Legend. So Four probably had a little more free time. So I added another year for each of our two free break periods. This now brings our biggest number down to 11.
Still, I wasn't satisfied. Four didn't strike me as being 18 when reading LU and he didn't strike me at 11 when studying MC's promo art. He looked younger. Much younger than any other Link, even considering the toon style and naturally short figure. So this was when I decided he was around Time's age when he started. But, to make things funny, I decided Four was 8 during MC.
Now with a starting age and two year BN rule established, my job became simple. Four would be 10 at the start of FS and, for the fun of it, I said he could celebrate his birthday halfway through, making him 11 by the end. Then, for FSA, Four would be 13 at the beginning of his journey. That leaves him at 15 by the time of LU. Maybe if we push he could be 16 but I'm not going to because I've already fudged his age enough for the hell of it.
Wind
Absolutely easiest of the bunch, we already have all of his canon ages. In WW and PH he's 12 years old, Nintendo certified and everything, seeing as WW happens on his 12th birthday. By the time of LU, Wind is canonically 13, going on 14. He is the last and smallest age gap for the chain but that just makes him even younger in all of their eyes. No wonder the chain tries to baby him. He's nearly a decade younger than Twi and nearly two decades younger than Time. Geez kid, slow your role! You don't need to keep defying the laws of the universe to show the other heroes how cool you are!
And that's the list. Honestly, I have more ages I could share, specifically the two Links we haven't met yet that I think I already know the identities of, including which hidden Link is which of the remaining Links in the timeline. But I'm not gonna do that because those two have little to nothing confirmed about them and trying to give you anyone else's ages without any Jojo support at all would have me pulling my hair out within seconds of researching. Therefore, this is where I end it until more information is available. Though I can tell you that Legend and Ravio are basically twins in all but blood and Malon is likely to be a year or two younger than Time because of her in game models in OoT. That's all I've really got though.
I hope you enjoyed this rant and have a lovely day!

Final reference done!! 18 different reference pages with 20+ heroes designed. I'll post a new lineup shortly but you'll notice a few of the heroes have changed from the first line up, Spirit above being one of them. I have a few interaction drawings planned for some of the heroes that I'll be uploading sometime in the future but will continue working on the Zeldas and other characters next. If you'd like to see a specific Zelda let me know.
As usual more information is below the cut
These Drakin are also tied to a power that is typically associated with the color of their scales/dragon features, (i.e. typically red scales would be fire, yellow scales would be lightning, shades of blue may be ice or water, though there are some outliers) For now I will not say exactly what Zeila's magic affinity is, though a hint is that the color of her scales is based off of two items seen earlier in the timeline.
DRAGON DESCENT
Zeila is a descendant of TotK Zelda, one who following her time as the Light Dragon did not return fully Hylian, As a result the dragon essence in her blood passed to any of her descendants and as a result a new sub race of Hylian was created, a few years later as these descendants continued appearing with the dragon characteristics those who were descended from TotK Zelda took to calling themselves Drakin. The dragon essence in these individuals is so strong that it overpowers the DNA of any other and will always show itself in the children regardless of the other partner in any relationship.
Zeila's family while not members of the council are still a noble lineage.
COUNCIL OF HYRULE
After the events of BotW and leading up to the events of TotK Zelda was not only working on rebuilding Hyrule but was also working on rebuilding the governing body, removing the monarchy entirely and instead creating a council using a representative from all the races/major settlements. By Zeila's time this council still governs and works together to ensure all voices are heard.
As well as being the Seer's apprentice Zeila is a student at the Hyrule Institute for Mages and Knights. Where she studies magic along side her friend Rorru. It is through this Institute that she meets Link, a young orphaned male who works for the school in the Stables used by the training Knights. While Link works in the Institute's Stables he is given food and housing as well as some pay.
APPRENTICE TO THE SEER AND STUDENT
Zeila is the current apprentice to the Seer Corrine, who overlooks the timeline and tries to learn from it. Corrine takes information that they learn and shares it to better Hyrule, because of this in the current Hyrule, they have faster land travel in the form of Zonai engines that have been repurposed since TotK and Zonai technology has been rediscovered.
When Zeila first met his they didn't really talk as it was just in passing as Zeila saw him working as she made her way to her next class. In the months since Zeila and Link have bumped into one another on other occasions and Zeila had brought Link to a few of her meetings with Seer Corrine.
During the initial attack on Hyrule Link was killed and Zeila ended up taking the mantle of hero as she pulls the master sword. Though Link remains at Zeila's side as a spiritual companion as they travel meeting the Heroes of the past Link helps Zeila find them and gives hints or "feelings" about these past heroes that he knows from memories he's started gaining from the Hero's Spirit upon his death.

Alrighty y'all, grab a chair and get comfy whilst I yap about my son, my pride and joy, the greatest thing to ever happen to me, my D&D OC: Raymond Foxwood. He is a Wood Elf Druid with the Researcher background and a Neutral-Good alignment (Images at the very end).
I haven't figured out what his voice sounds like yet. I'm thinking he may kind of have an accent? But like it's barely there. I do have an idea for a possible Japanese voice claim: Souta from the movie Suzume.
His best friend? I guess it would be my friend's D&D character. Her name is Topaz and she is a Dragonborne. Not besties, but pretty close.
Ooooooo boy, I got a whole playlist my friend and I have been cooking up for this sad little fella. Here's a couple of them that I think describes him best:
-"The Moss" by Cosmo Sheldrake
-"Rom-Com Gone Wrong" by Matt Maltese
-"When She Loved Me" by Sarah McLachlan
-"Home" by Cavetown
-"Valentine" by Laufey
-"Love Like You" by Rebecca Sugar
He's like, dealing with a heavy breakup until "Valentine" when he meets his current partner :)
4. "I do Adore" by Mindy Gledhill
5. Nope! But I actually thought about it when I was first creating his character just to see how he would act with other dynamics.
6. A scientist. More specifically, an ecologist. He loves nature and learning about all there is to know about life and the world. He also likes finding ways to help others, so maybe even a pharmacologist?
8. Writing, researching, reading, gardening, and making little insect and animal models because he is a NERD™ /lh<3
9. He generally takes good care of his physical health. Although, his flaw is "Most people scream when they see a demon. I stop and take notes on its anatomy," soooo. "For science" he says. "It's for the greater good" he says.
10. Well he's trying his best. But sometimes anxiety just surprises you and all of the sudden you're spiraling and things seem much worse than they are and pfffft whaddya meeeeaaaan I'm sorta self projecting? But he is the kind of person who feels bad about asking for help and then sort of holds it all in.
11. Inspirations were taken Link from The Legend of Zelda series (mainly BOTW) and Howl from Howl's Moving Castle for his design. Everything else was based purely on my own self indulgences for a nerdy elf character (and the songs my friend keeps sending my for him).
12. Same response as question 2 :)
13. No not really, but he is fighting against an organization that keeps threatening and trying to burn down the library he works/lives in with the librarian: Amanita (Ama, Anita, or Nita for short). Amanita is the person who raised and took care of Raymond after his family died in a fire. A fire caused by the same organization who's trying to harm them now. This is his main reason for joining a campaign; to get stronger and protect his loved ones.
14. This one flippin poison dragon we fought. Or maybe that's just me because I really didn't want to let them leave alive. I don't think Raymond necessarily hates anyone.
15. That all honestly depends on how the rest this campaign will play out. My friend has told me that they all did die a couple times, and we almost died to the STINKIN DRAGON but that's not important right now. But L O R E wise, he'd probably still do his researcher stuff until he's really old. Then he'll write books and share his stories :)
16. If they were alive, then I could see him having a great relationship with his parents since they were also big nerds like him. His relationship with Amanita is also great, and he really wants to protect her since she has done so much for him.
17. YESSSSSS! He loves sharing his knowledge with others and would do such a great job teaching kids. Ohhhh this is such a good one, yes he would feel bad if he had to leave them.
18. He/Him :>
19. Biromantic Asexual. His love language in giving is Acts of Service, and Quality Time for both giving and receiving.
20. A longbow and rocks. He has a cantrip spell called "Magic Stone" which lets me make a ranged attack by throwing small pebbles or stones. I like to call this spell the "RAYMOND, STONE 'EM" spell because its funnnnyyyy.
21. hmmmmmmmmmm Actually, I'm not sure! I guess maybe "Nothing You Can Take From Me" from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
22. Will generally go for the non-violent option (more of a lover), but if initiatives are rolling, he'll fight.
23. Extremely. He'll show up with a new tire to fix the flat one, and an extra one for any future situations.
24. Undecided
25. Not singing out loud, but he would definitely hum to himself! :)
26. Irises, forget-me-nots, and bluebells
27. Symbolism wise, a deer. 'Just because' wise, a rabbit, a fox, and a kitty cat :3
28. The Nerds™ (found at the end of this post:) ).
29. Cozy stuff, lo-fi, books, plants, leather notebooks, and an overall sort of cottage core mixed with academia aesthetic. (Mood Board made in Canva :>)
30. Accepts this as their new life(yippee!). They have now been adopted. Will try to find a way to bring up their interests in conversations.

please ramble about your botw au!!!!
aaAAA yeS, so-
My as-of-yet unnamed AU is a retelling of the story wherein Link and his younger sister (named Aryll, in honor of Link's canon sister from Wind Waker) wake up in the Shrine of Resurrection.
(For the purposes of this story, Link is 18 and some change, and Aryll is a few months shy of 12.)
Link- confused and disoriented- still remembers almost nothing of his former life beyond the fact that the young girl he's with is most undoubtedly his sister. Aryll on the other hand... remembers everything about her life except how she ended up here. The story's focus is on the progressive strengthening of their bond as they embark on a long journey to discover the gaps in their memory, put an end to the calamity that's lingered in these lands for the past 100 years, and... ultimately... build a new life in the wake of the one they lost.
(Essentially this is my brain going: What if Link wasn't ALONE on those long, quiet roads? What if he had someone to care for and protect? How would the details of his journey change if he had to also consider the safety of a child while trying to free the Divine Beasts? How would having a family member with him who knew him before he picked up the sword impact his developing personality in the wake of his missing memories? And, for Aryll... how would a journey like this impact a young girl in the midst of her most impressionable years of development? What is her coming of age like?)
To provide a little taster of what I think Link and Aryll's basic dynamic would be...
-Link ends up beginning to teach his sister how to shoot with a bow pretty early on, wanting her to have at least one means of self-defense under her belt should they somehow end up separated. Aryll also gets her first horse riding lessons from him during some of their more peaceful travels.
-Aryll is the type to braid flowers into her big brother's hair when they're taking a rest somewhere. Link eagerly lets her, happy for the affection.
-Trips through the woods, ft. Aryll singing some old schoolyard songs very loudly as she skips through the brush and Link having to hastily shush her upon hearing something moving in the bushes up ahead. Having a younger sibling beside you is nice for company, but certainly NOT helpful when you want to employ the element of surprise on a camp of Bokoblins.
-In the wake of everything that's come to pass (waking up literally a CENTURY away from everything you've known), Aryll doesn't like being apart from her brother longer than she has to. There's some places Link absolutely would never willingly take her (Divine Beasts and much of Hyrule Field, for instance), but in less dangerous cases, he can be a bit of a pushover when she nags him to let her tag along. He's not fond of leaving her behind, either.
-Link in this story is selectively mute- he can and does occasionally speak out loud, but he finds it far easier to fully express himself with gestures and sign. This was the case for his entire childhood, so Aryll is fluent in sign as well, and will help translate his words at stables if he's not in the mindset to speak and the stable hands aren't familiar with Hylian sign language. Link is very appreciative.

Got the basis of a botw fic that pretty much results from a shitload of my headcanons it’s pretty long of an overview as I wanted to cover most details so be warned
The Marked AU:
Botw 2 takes place seven years after botw ends
Link is 118+ by the time botw ends (atleast 118 and 6 months)
Link pulled the sword soon after he turned 13 and died at 18
Zelda was terrible to him (throwing things at him, constant verbal abuse, dehumanization, belittling loss of a family member (his dad who died when he and link were trying to protect the princess from a monster hoard), lied to the gerudo so they would immobilize him (break his legs) so that he couldn’t even try to get into gerudo town.
Things only got better with Zelda within 6 months of the calamity
The memories in botw take place over a 1 year period
Link never saw his sister or mother again after he pulled the sword
Links hair was white (think fierce diety) after the shrine of resurrection for a decent period of time
While he would occasionally have aid from the spirits of the hero of twilight and time (dusk and shade) it was inconsistent at best and for the most part he wandered alone
When he wasn’t near death their aid wasn’t something he could rely upon
They both taught him techniques (shade taught him magic (dins fire farores wind nayrus love) and dusk taught him / refined his swordsmanship
Due to this more in depth understanding of magic during the champions ballad he is able to make the champion abilities his own (he is able to conjure weakened versions without calling on the champions)
So even after their spirits leave he can still conjure their magic, even doing so in different ways to what they allowed in game
Miphas grace for a general healing factor, Revalis gale to keep an arrow flying straight longer or maintain altitude long er with the paraglider, Daruks protection closer to his body and using the shards as weapons, and Urbosas fury can be used to power things requiring electricity, for electric resistance, and for electrifying his metal weapons
He also does the same (expanding the capabilities of) the magic taught by the hero of time
This makes farores wind a more general speed boost and it kinda flows with the flurry rush
This makes dins fire more capable of just shooting out general fire balls and applying a layer of heat around his body to protect from the cold
This makes nayrus love function closer to the magic armor from wind waker and twilight princess where it adds a defensive boost but he isn’t invincible and he usually only uses it in tandem with a modified daruks protection for very brief periods to tank hits, if he tried using this defensive combo for a whole battle he would exhaust himself
Mind you he doesn’t just immediately make all of these Magic’s work for him, it takes years to develop some of these skills and he had many teachers, he is no prodigy
The gap between botw and its sequel allow for link to get roped into some of the multi link journeys (linked universe and bonus links)
The way the time flows in the gap between games can be read through his hair color, pre calamity is the same hair color as the game shows, at the end of botw it’s still almost pure white but the roots start having some blond strands
The reason his hair was white is because of the shrine of resurrection and it’s side effects (sharper teeth, glowing eyes, blue glowing blood, better vision and hearing, general increased potency for having magic applied to the user (links ability to use the champions abilities more than in game)
His hair was staying mostly white as a result of the malice in the atmosphere
when he joins the chain (linked universe) his hair is blond on the top but his sideburns and the ends of his hair are still white for a couple inches and his hair color is more of a pale blond that is still very light less vibrant than his hair in LU. When LU raps up its pretty much just the ends of his hair that are still white but his hair color is still considerably lighter than it was in game and a bit lighter than his hair in the LU comics
LU is also where he starts building on his magic with the help of mainly hyrule and time, but he’s still pretty inexperienced with magic and really only got the champion abilities back to how they perform in game and learned hyrules trick for heating yourself up in the cold
During LU he doesn’t really act like the typical ‘wild’ and is instead mostly silent and distrustful for a while as a result of time and twilight not being shade and dusk (both shade and dusk lacked the facial marks they have in LU and dusk was a twili)
He gets along with time after a while and gets along with wind and hyrule from the start but while accommodating he is emotionally distant from the others
Bonus links takes place a couple months later and links hair is pretty much the color it was in the LU comics with the white gone (Zelda keeps giving him haircuts) but with some strands of white still interspersed throughout
Bonus links he’s pretty much constantly confused in the first weeks but learns to accept it the same way he accepted that whole time and twilight were the hero’s they claimed to be they weren’t his realities version of them
He learns a lot from mage after some prodding but generally is even more emotionally distant with this group than the chain with exemption of the hero’s that don’t act like the ones in the chain (mask, mage, wake) and the ones who weren’t really in the chain (mini, tracks, mirror) he’s pretty indifferent on wolf and loft basing both of them on their LU counterparts and not really interested in looking deeper to see them as their own people so he just ends up seeing depressed/midlife crisis twilight and sky if he was more of a realist. He’s pretty distant but not rude to the both of them. The only one he really clashed with is the captain because despite the fact he wears the hat now he acts almost identically in links eyes to warriors and it doesn’t help that the captain won’t leave link be.
After this group he’s mostly gotten his magic to the proficiency listed earlier but with pretty bad magic stamina as while he naturally regains magic as a side effect from the shrine of resurrection he doesn’t know to make or have a way to obtain magic potions so he resorts to using stamina potions which while they do the job he has to use magic just to focus their effects in the right place making them generally a more of a hassle than it’s worth.
For both LU and bonus links I’m going to leave it open ended on whether or not he stayed to the end of their journeys or if he got fed up and forced his way out of the adventure I’m leaning towards him going to the end with one and leaving the other because of Zelda being pregnant.
By the time botw 2 happens link and Zelda have 2 darling daughters with a 2 year age gap the older being Astra and the younger being Sunny (“she has a smile like the sun” reference)
Jumping back to some details I want to elaborate on about links time during botw he would introduce himself as link but was only really indifferent to the name and preferred how dusk and shade called him thistle (because he’s mighty) the one time zelda tried calling him this however he lashed out at her. He had a formal goodbye with the two of them where dusk left him the twilight crystal but so he could turn into a wolf in a pinch and shade left him the fierce diety mask.
The fierce diety in this au is like 2 (but really 3) separate characters where the one(s) that marked time and mask aren’t the same as the one shade was acquainted with (this also feeds into some tension with time and mask) the key difference is that shade didn’t see the fierce diety as a get out of jail free card or a something he would reluctantly pull out only when necessary like mask and time. Shade was still traumatized by termina but in a way where he was willing to find a friend in everyone even the soul trapped inside of a mask for millennia and along with this when shade died he incidentally broke the fierce diety’s mask effectively freeing him. So the fierce diety botw link carries is a lot more chill and link knows that he needs to respect the diety to use the mask properly. The issue with time and mask is they are effectively the fierce diety’s warden and have dehumanized him, he has been trapped for millennia and instead of being sympathetic you antagonize him and his only temporary release is when you put the mask on of course he’s fucking marked you, you tried to relegate him to just being a fucking item instead of a living thing.
Back to links character development between the games, he’s gotten a lot better at understanding sheikah tech due to spending most of his time outside of adventuring with Zelda and by extension, Purah, so he can definitely read ancient sheikah, he’s a doting parent and loving husband.
If your wondering how he and Zelda could’ve ended up together after I talked about how terrible she was to him pre-calamity, he doesn’t remember and nobodies fucking telling him, the zora had rumors of him being mistreated but there was never any actual proof, his memories are pretty much just the ones from the game and some from his childhood but he has a massive empty period in between when he pulled the sword and was named hylian champion that he’s subconsciously blocking because of trauma
General worldbuilding facts:
- [ ] All monsters have black blood by the time he wakes up as an evolutionary thing that was sped up because of malice
- [ ] Of the champions only Mipha and Daruk supported him with Mipha even transferring letters between link and his mother and sister
- [ ] Links sister’s name is Aria, his fathers name is Edward (read that in old English it means guardian of prosperity / mists, seems fitting because as soon as he dies link’s life spirals and for the mists part it makes sense that links father delayed him finding the sword by protecting him), and his mother’s name is Devon (old English for defender)
- [ ] Revali was older than Zelda but younger than Link
- [ ] Riju is urbosas great grandniece
- [ ] Link isn’t decended from the hero of twilight or time
- [ ] While Impa did give the champions tunic to Link she also warned him that he should hide his identity and the slate to protect him from the yiga’s eyes
- [ ] Link and Mipha were together before the calamity (but after the champions ceremony) because realistically you don’t propose to someone who you aren’t already in a relationship with
- [ ] After skyward sword hylia only ever exists through her descendents and lacks the power to truly influence fate only to step in when she can
- [ ] The reason Zelda unlocked her power so late is because of hylia trying to build up her power so that she could eradicate demise. The reason this differs in the age of calamity timeline is because of terrako opening the rift for hylia to see that there wasn’t a point in trying to build up past the necessary amount
- [ ] The death of the hero of time is heavily based off of his final battle with ganondorf in the fic on Ao3 ‘the legend of Zelda: a shade of time with ganondorf taking his eye and shattering the fierce diety mask but unlike the fic link didn’t last much longer and as he came back to consciousnessafter the gerudo had pushed the battle north he dragged himself into the lost woods hoping the Kokiri would help him, but alas they were long gone without the Deku trees protection. And so he became a Stalfos only keeping his mind due to the weakening magic of the woods and skull kid safeguarding his soul until a time where he could pass on
And now I’m getting into stuff that is very likely going to be AU from botw 2 but I may retrofit the botw 2 plot onto this au after the game comes out. Link and Zelda go under the castle to try and find a solution to the sheikah tech no longer working or losing power (in the first trailer the shrines and towers are absent) but they stumble upon ganondorf the trailer thing happens and they get separated. Link with his new magic and Zelda with the master sword (note: at this point the magic is primarily locked onto his arm but hasn’t replace it or anything his old arm is still there) general Zelda stuff happens (dungeons, monster, fighting, sidequests) until the halfway point where link and Zelda meet back up but surprise surprise ganondorf is also there to ruin everyone’s day. He attacks Zelda but link gets in the way. Link and Zelda fight ganondorf but he’s just toying with them until Zelda gives link an opening to get a hit with the master sword. At this point ganondorf isn’t playing games anymore and quickly takes both of them out resulting in Zelda being badly injured and link getting what would be mortal wounds getting his magic arm sliced off.
To prevent his death he binds his soul to the fierce diety’s so that he can survive. This results in link being down an arm for a short section where the atmosphere is very bleak and while link will live with the diety’s intervention the two are still reluctant to really become one as they niether really knows what that entails as it’s more than when it was just the hero of time wearing his mask as the mask is no longer a full buffer with it being broken when the hero of time died. For the atmosphere of this period where link tries to get Zelda to kakariko while avoiding being spotted by ganon the atmosphere is very reminiscent of the escape from the last city in destiny 2.
After link gets Zelda to kakariko she is effectively decommissioned for the rest of the story up until the final confrontation with ganon. For the rest of his life links hair is white. After this link goes to Hateno/ Akkala where purah and Robbie build him a robot arm replace the one he lost. He only uses the robot arm for about a third of the story though as in a fight with a phantom ganon link is pushed to his limits and the lingering magic he got in the beginning of the story reactivates and forms a magic construct arm based on his real arm and the scraps left of his robot arm after the phantom crushes it.
The story continues until Zelda recovers enough that she deems herself ready to go with link to face ganon head on.
Despite her assurance that they are ready they still can barely keep up with a ganondorf who isn’t holding back and the battle effectively becomes a war of attrition with them on the losing side. As the battle goes on ganon attacks Zelda again but in her more damaged state and with the distance between her and link from link trying to draw ganondorf’s attention away from her Zelda takes the full force of ganondorf’s attack. what was once her chest is only a gaping hole, ganondorf mirthfully allows link to get to her relishing in the hero’s desolated frame. Link and the fierce diety know that there is no turning back from this and begin to meld only for the combined warrior to pause as Zelda grasps his left hand using the last of her strength to bless him and give him the triforce. She wished for his protection and gave him a man already becoming diety her power the last of hylias power to give. With her final act she bestowed upon link immortality, not on purpose, she couldn’t have known what she was doing in her last fading seconds, but this didn’t matter to the combined warrior of man and diety the warrior took on her power to finish the fight, forming a sword with his right hands magic and wielding the master sword in his left he annihilated the final incarnation of demise and in killing something that had given up on reincarnation had ended the cycle. With the cycle broken the breaths of the long dying goddess hylia came to an end

ive got quite a few but here's one of my favorites, arcturos:
Tumblr media
he was my starsoul sorcerer for a pathfinder campaign. i played him from level 1 up to level 18 over the course of about a year.
he viewed himself in terms of his own usefulness due to his upbringing in the darklands- if he weren't useful he may as well be dead.
when he was eventually faced with the fact that he might have to make his own decisions and be responsible for himself, he responded by giving an outer god (Tawil at'Umir / Yog-Sothoth) control of his body. Tawil/Yog used him to open a portal at the end of the campaign through which a piece of Yog came through into the material plane.
he's a heavily traumatized character who was doomed from the start for insanity thanks to his starsoul bloodline (effectively, your bloodline has been touched by the outer gods, granting you your magic). he believed that, due to his blood and a series of coincidences leading him into the path he took, that this was his fate. he was obligated to follow it even if it lost him his mind or life.
through it all, however, he still generally did not desire to do harm and just... didn't fully consider the ramifications of aiding an outer god. he didn't see it as his place to consider it. he was, after all, only a tool. a very powerful one, at level 18.
his long-term post game is vague, but the idea is that he lived far beyond the rest of his party members as an elf, and a cult to yog-sothoth gathered around him. arcturos would have wound up as a big baddie, the final boss of a hypothetical campaign.
though during the final fight, he would have snapped out of his years-long reverie and realized that he had become exactly what he and his friends had made efforts to stop in his campaign (which was the rise of the runelords AP). he never actually would have done much himself, but the cultists around him committed atrocities in his name.
that's a quick rundown, but playing him and having his character develop in this manner with such an end was really really satisfying. he made a lot of bad decisions as someone with a lot of arcane power, without understanding the ramifications, but ultimately never once swayed into an evil alignment. his goal was never to bring harm- he just wanted to follow his own, absolutely disastrous path.
this has gotten long so here are links to others:

Hi, sorry if I'm overwhelming you with Requests, but I had an idea for an Imagine that I'd really love to see you write!! Could you please write some Headcanons for how Link, Zelda, Sidon and Revali (Age of Calamity timeline for Sidon btw) would react to a young woman who has a very strong connection to the Spirits being sent to teach Zelda how to unlock her power? Like it's a young woman, around 18 years old, who has a natural ability to communicate with all manner of Spirits, maybe even is part Spirit in some way, so she gets appointed by the King of Hyrule to teach Zelda how to do the same? And maybe she's super nice and excited too? Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!!
oh darling you're totally fine i really appreciate it :D
i hope i did this justice! it's a really neat concept
i also made it an x reader with those attributes if that's okay :)
~~~~~~
Hylia's Guide
[BOTW x fem!Reader]
Headcanons (Link, Zelda, Revali, Sidon)
warnings: none
takes place during Age of Calamity!
also for headcanon's sake,,,,,being a descendant of hylia in this case doesnt mean that you're of the same family? if that makes sense? okay so like reader is descended from hylia and technically so is zelda but they aren't blood related in any way HAHA hope that makes sense
~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~
Let's set the scene, yeah?
You were one of the descendants of Hylia from centuries past, now a ghost in the afterlife as part of the universe itself.
Naturally, you would be surprised when you became sentient once more and blinked open your eyes in the middle of Hyrule Field. In your head rang a soothing voice that you both heard in your head and felt in your bones. In an instant, you knew it was Hylia communicating with your physical form again after years of dormant sleep.
The voice instructed that you were to aid Zelda in her studies of connecting to her powers. Hylia could not intervene directly with Zelda, of course, but the most the Goddess could do was send someone in her place. And that was you: a descendant of Hylia's own bloodline resurrected from the dead come to help the princess in her efforts. Easy enough, right?
Convincing the King and his guards of the situation was difficult, let alone trying to get him to allow you to assist his precious daughter with her practice. The only proof that you had of any story that you told were the markings on your hands and chest.
Three distinct triangles etched themselves on your body: one on the back of each hand and the third on your chest. Your powers had long since been passed on to the next descendant of Hylia, but you were still full of the knowledge of how to use Hylia's gift and how to communicate with the spirits.
•••
Link
Link was wary of you at first, being the princess's appointed knight and all, but he soon figured that you weren't as much of a threat as he initially thought
You were kind and excited to meet someone else who also held Hylia's gift (albeit not necessarily awakened, but still) and Link knew that Zelda would be safe in your hands
While going on spiritual treks with Zelda and Link, you almost always made the meals because both Zelda and Link can't really cook lmao
Coming from an entirely different era, you had a big book of recipes in your head that you brought into reality with every meal you made, and Link definitely wasn't complaining
He appreciated your wide breadth of knowledge of different foods, plants, and wildlife that you might encounter on your travels
It made planning protective measures for the princess all the easier
Sometimes the ventures to connect to Hylia didn't bear any fruit (and that's okay because the gift takes plenty of patience!) and the mood could become solemn quickly
But you were always determined to lift the mood and lighten everyone's attitude, and it always worked!
You would excitedly ramble off stories about where you grew up or what you liked to do on your own travels back in the day, and it would always make Link feel warm that you had such fond memories you were willing to share with him
When Zelda needed time to herself to try to connect to the spirits and Hylia, you and Link would hang around each other and bond
Link would listen attentively as you talked about the cultural and time differences between your world and this one, sharing sympathy when you expressed nostalgia over your time lost
But you would quickly turn it around to the positives, which is what Link thought was a wonderful quality that you had
If you ever got caught off guard while on ventures by the Yiga Clan or rogue animals, Link would fight just as hard as he would in larger battles to keep you safe
Over the time you spent together, Link grew very fond of you and always was at your side if he wasn't immediately attending to the princess
Once your guidance and knowledge finally broke through to Zelda and her power awakened, Link was so proud of you for fulfilling your duty
He was worried that you would disappear from his life once you completed Hylia's task, but you connected to the spirits after the fact and bargained with them
At the end of it all, you were able to live your life through again with Link by your side :)
•••
Zelda
Goddess was Zelda relieved when she found out that she would be having a guide to help her unlock her powers
Upon meeting you, she was absolutely floored with your kindness and willingness to help her with her problems
You were a wonderful mentor to Zelda, teaching her things about the different spirits and how to harness the power that she never would have dreamed of researching on her own
And wow there was a lot of information HAHA
Zelda was also transfixed with the fact that you came from another lifetime, and you were more than happy to tell her all about your life before this one
She would also take very detailed notes about everything you said, enamored with the way you spoke and how excited you got about things you loved
Quiet study time in Zelda's room would often turn into challenges of you trying to make her laugh with small tidbits of stupid stunts you would pull
Of course Zelda couldn't hold back a smile when you were around, so the challenges would fall short but with you falling into fits of laughter
You always brightened Zelda's mood whenever she was down about a failed connection attempt, urging her to try more and be patient with herself
Zelda was thankful to Hylia for sending you because honestly she wouldn't know what to do without someone that was as kind and generous as you were with spreading knowledge about your gifts
And when they finally awakened, Zelda couldn't be more happy!
Hyrule was now safe with Zelda's power awakened and Ganon on the edge of being sealed away
She pleaded that you find a way to stay in her time and teach her more about the spirits and Hylia herself
Your heart warmed at the thought that someone wanted you to stay, and it warmed even more at the fact that someone loved you enough to want to keep you forever :)
•••
Sidon
Sidon met you when he was summoned with the other Champion successors
You were the first to greet him and explain what had happened with the time jumping and all that, and you helped to put his nerves at ease
His own excitable and boisterous personality bounced off of your own energy and buzz!
Fighting side by side with you, Sidon admired how you always had a strategy and were looking out for Zelda as if she was your own sister
He was surprised upon learning your story: never had he known that Hylia had the power like that to bring someone back to help those in the present
Sidon tried his best to stay by your side whenever he could, wanting to keep your blind spots covered just in case
In your time, you had known the Zora and actually knew King Dorephan when he was a young little guppy, and your stories of Dorephan never failed to make Sidon laugh
Sidon in turn shared his own tales of the evolved Zora Domain, and you found his storytelling absolutely captivating
Sidon felt a pull to you like he had to no one else before, and he nurtured that pull with his own heart
He made sure you had enough supplies, checked in on you immediately when you came back from a far off mission
Just an all around softie I think! Sidon has always been caring like that :)
When it was time for him to go back, you discovered a way that you could jump with him back to his own time
After all, your mission with Zelda from Hylia was over. Why shouldn't you be able to live your life through again?
You jumped back with Sidon to a world vastly different than the one you had just been in, and even more different than the one you were born into
But with Sidon, it always felt like home!
•••
Revali
Revali didn't want to be impressed, but he was Definitely Impressed
Your composure about the whole situation was amazing, and you handled all the questions everyone had with grace
And your kindness was overwhelming (in a good way) with the fact that you opened your mind to such possibilities of even being resurrected like that
Revali admired you through and through
He would be incessantly curious about what the afterlife was like, how the spirits communicated with you, what Hylia was like
You, of course, couldn't accurately answer most questions because, well, you couldn't remember, but you appreciated his desire to learn
You loved the way that he fought: with purpose and intent. There was little to no hesitation with Revali, he always had a plan
When you would go to treks with Zelda and Link to try to summon Zelda's power, Revali would make comments here and there insisting that he tag along just in case
Poor Rito really just wanted to spend more time with you, that's all!
If he did tag along, it would be to Lanayru with his knowledge of the cold weather
He would rattle off safety facts of mountain weather and gear you would need, and you would be happy to listen as long as he was talking to you
Revali would also love to hear about your old life, and since you could go on for hours about it all, he would sit and absorb everything that came out of your mouth
He was smitten in a matter of weeks!
He could see the care and sympathy you had for Zelda as she struggled and triumphed in her process of opening her powers, and he appreciated that you could care so much for someone like that
Revali subconsciously protected you even if there was a leaf that fell in the way of your path, as he was always on alert in case someone caught you off guard
As your time came to a close and Zelda awakened her powers, Revali demanded that you stay (with love, of course)
And stay you did, making a bargain with the spirits and living the rest of your second life in the company of the Rito warrior :)
~~~~~~~~~
hope i got this good!! i thought the concept was really neat and i kinda wished they did something like that actually :/ zelda didn't deserve that angst
requests are welcome :)

annoying revali anon again... im sorry but I want to ask more, your post about link's age was really thoughtful, even though most of the info is in the game I didn't think about it and I never saw other people talk about it (even if so many people are always aking guesses about link's age!) so I want to ask, do you know Revali and Sidon's age too... please and thanks...
Ok, Sidon is easy but Revali is a tough one! And I don’t have the time to source properly. I’ve actually been writing a post about the ages of all the relevant BOTW characters (that’s why I had this info at hand for that other Link post too!) but adding quotes, screenshots, etc. takes a lot of time.
So here is a very informal answer until I manage to compile everything:
- Adult Sidon is, canonically, older than 100 (obviously XD) but younger than 130, I estimate around 110ish since we know he’s much younger than Rivan (who’s over 130). Sidon is also canonically considered more on the “young adult Zora” side than on the “middle aged Zora” side (for comparison, Bazz and Gaddison are confirmed middle aged). Zora a bit younger than 100 are more or less already considered adults or late teens (like Dunma) so Sidon might had been an adult for a while. I hope this made sense lol.
Regarding the current twitter drama: Zora mature in a very different way, much slower in general, and not necessarily perfectly proportionally slower than the other races. You can’t equate Zora age to Hylians, don’t ask “would that make Sidon around 23 in human age” that makes no sense... he’s a +100 young adult by Zora standards because he’s a Zora.
- Revali’s most likely just barely an adult, and somewhere around the same age as Link (17-19). For reference, this is everything I had to say about Link’s age / LINK /. Anyway back to Ravioli Pasta Boy, we can only make a good guess about him being around that awkward age between teen and adult. I’ll try to explain as short as possible:
- I’ll start saying that, unlike the case of the Zora, Rito age and life expectancy are the same as for Hylians. We can infer this from Revali’s own dialogue in the Champion’s Ballad, as well as from Creating a Champion. The book also tells us that Kass is considerably older than Teba, but we have nothing to compare them to Revali, that I have found. While the Zora talk a lot about their age (since it’s relevant to Link’s past and his old bonds with them) we have no numbers to compare for the Rito, sorry. STILL, go on and read:
- Revali uses “boku” to refer to himself in Japanese. It would be very awkward for anyone other than a male child/teen to use “boku”. An adult man would use boku in some settings, not in the way Revali does in my opinion (I explain why on this other post) but some people disagree... so I won’t say this is conclusive evidence on it’s own BUT I can stack this hint with the next few ones:
- Urbosa's Diary: “Revali is of the youngest Rito generation” (the diary has different wording in the different localizations but ultimately says that).
- Urbosa’s diary putting Zelda, Link, Revali and Mipha in the same age group (yes, Mipha too, don’t ask me I didn’t write this game lol)
- Revali’s considerably shorter than the other Rito adults (and I’m not even talking about Teba who is actually taller than the other Rito men).
- Other more speculative hints:
- Revali still has the same face markings as the Rito children. It might be just a design choice but why not mention it. A lot of the stuff in this game is very deliberate, so yeah.
- Revali’s emotional immaturity;
- The fact that he was designed to be Link’s rival (stated in Creating a Champion);
- The fact he didn’t have any descendancy, unlike Urbosa or Daruk, even though he loves his homeland and his people so much, he gets along with children, and all he ever wanted was to see the Rito thrive. One would think, he didn’t have the time to have a family :(
- The age gap between Revali and Teba matching the trend of the other co-pilots in which one is an older adult (Urbosa, Daruk, Teba and Sidon) and the other a youngster (Riju, Yunobo, Revali and Mipha). Creating a Champion says Yunobo is “a young adult Goron still growing” and I think all of us can see how that’s very possibly the same case with Link, Revali and Mipha.
- Creating a Champion also highlights how adult/big/confident Teba is that he isn’t bothered at all by criticism, being mostly aware of his own shortcomings, feeling no shame and just working hard. A big contrast with Revali, who while being just as hard working, is a bit of a bratty kid and an overachiever who hates being caught in what he considers “a moment of weakness” (a moment of shame). So, again, deliberate decisions while designing the characters.
I might be missing something big but that’s all for now! I’m confident most of the facts are correct (please notice that I mentioned when I make estimations and when I speculate, versus when I’m giving actual canon data and quoting!). Again, I haven’t put together all my sources yet, the quotes are from memory an paraphrased, double-check before quoting me on this ;D
Also! Do what you want with this info, make your own conclusions. Link and Sidon’s age frames are a bit more restrictive and Zelda literally turned 17 the day of the Calamity (I think the only character with her age set in stone lol), but otherwise the game and book would be like “eh, Riju was designed to look around 12 but Gerudo mature faster... Paya was designed to be around Link’s age, between 18-20... Purah is, uh, 120, kinda......... Link found the Master Sword when he was 12 or 13, maybe........¿¿?...?” like, what do you mean, does Link not fcking remember if he got the sword when he was 12 or 15 lmao!!!! Assholes!!! XD
So like, yeah ahahahha. You think Revali is 17? The game says Sure Why Not. You say Revali’s 24 and a short king? Perfectly possible too honestly. We stan short King Revali, wow much sass in such smol birb. Big bow go brrrr
Last thing about Teba and Revali because I wanted the Age of Calamity SPOILERSSS at the end:
 - In Age of Calamity *SPOILERSSS*  Teba’s dad instincts kick in on a couple of occasions... there are many battle combos I haven’t seen yet, but at least once Teba goes to Revali to give some emotional support (in the battle before the last, I think); in another occasion to help him speak his true feelings (as in literally voicing them in Revali’s stead because Teba is that blunt and Revali is... you know, like he is.) As it happens between the other co-pilots, the older one often reassures the younger one (Mipha and Sidon still have an older sister/younger brother dynamic even if Sidon came from the future and is now literally older than her lol so the rule still applies! XD). So again, I feel like the age difference between Teba and Revali is noticeable, even though Teba is still a young dad himself... but I honestly feel that if someone wanted to say both Revali and Teba are like, 25, no one could tell them that the canon says otherwise XD

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! I love responding to comments
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
My TOTK fics. Link is very sad and it doesn't get better. Hypothetically there will be a third installment after I beat the game where it does get better but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmmmmm. I have quite a few fics there are pure fluff so I don't think I an choose just one XD
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I got one transphobic comment on Authenticity when I wrote about Wild being nonbinary. Other than that I have never gotten hate <3
9. Do you write smut?
No. Well... I have one thing in my WIPs that will never see the light of day probably but for the most part no.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Not really. I'm not opposed to it, but it hasn't happened yet
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Currently is GrooseZeLink. When I was younger it was Hiccup and Astrid from HTTYD
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Temple Escape
16. What are your writing strengths?
I write character interactions very well :D
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I don't edit lol
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Sure! I love seeing this in fics
19. First fandom you wrote for?
How to Train Your Dragon. I have an account on another website where I have 4 HTTYD fics posted. They were very important to me
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I CAN'T CHOOSE! Authenticity, IDOH, and Sentiment is always my answer lol
No pressure tags @majorproblems77 @the-sleepydetective @wildsage00 @ikaishere @somer-writes @legend-of-thyme and anyone else who wants to play!
20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @the-real-azalea-scroggs! Had to wait until I was of my phone because doing these is a nightmare on mobile lmao
1. How many works do you have on A03?
18 as of a few days ago!
2. What's your total A03 word count?
60,763! Which is. Only a fraction of the word count in my Docs folder. Be prepared.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I mainly write for The Legend of Zelda; specifically Linked Universe! In fact, that's all that's posted on my Ao3 currently, since my fall into that fandom began with me uploading there! Pre-Ao3 I wrote for Black Cat (Anime/Manga), Megaman NT Warrior, various Pokémon things, Assassin's Creed, Yugioh, Final Fantasy XIV and Octopath Traveler! Some of these I still write privately, but I haven't gotten around to re-posting any.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Whistling on Deaf Ears - My longest fic on Ao3, focusing on Wild and Twilight's friendship and how good intentions can lead to disaster.
Iconoclasm - Warriors deals with the room full of portraits in Cia's palace. The Chain also deals with it, but with a bit more fire.
Deserving - Twilight finally tells Rusl that he was the wolf in the village during TP, but that also means dealing with some heavier topics. Colin half overhears them and forms his own conclusions.
Something Greater - The start of the "Hyrule can see magical auras" series! In this one we deal with Legend and his many rings.
Ocean Magic - Mermaid Legend and Zora Time have a race and then fight one of the Big Octos from WW! Fun times.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Every single one!! I love comments, they give me an excuse to ramble about my fic more!! I am always down to ramble about every single insignificant detail of any line and/or section. If you ever want more background info about one of my fics, look to the comments! So please, I adore comments, I treat them like treasures, not responding to them would be a CRIME.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
There's no contest; Inevitable, my (so far) only MCD fic.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmmm, that's hard to quantify. I usually try to end fics on a hopeful note regardless. I'd say possibly either Deserving, where Twilight reconnects with his family, or Shimmering Blue, Striking White, where Time meets the Fierce Deity settled down on Satori Mountain and they both get closure.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully, no! I've been blessed with mostly amazing and patient readers, even when my upload schedule isn't the best.
9. Do you write smut?
No, not really. I've attempted it, but I'm too asexual for it lol
10. Do you write crossovers?
Very, very rarely. Mostly privately, and only very specific ones. Only a single one has had an actual plot, so far (more on that one in question 15!).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Also a nope! I tend to write for smaller fandoms, where these things don't tend to happen a lot!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! But it's been a while. Over a decade, in fact! I tried to find the fic to link it here, but it was on the German fanfic website fanfiktion.de, and my friend who posted it back then must have deactivated her account, because it's nowhere to be seen (I still have the Word file though!). It was a Multi-Crossover that started as an RP in a forum, and we took turns turning the RP into prose one chapter each. "If a Hero Turns to Dark" was its title. We were edgy teenagers.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Hissssss. Bad question. Shoo. They are all equally important!! But it's probably TenRose from Doctor Who.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
One of the very few crossovers I've ever worked on; a crossover fic between Assassin's Creed and Doctor Who, that I have mapped out in both chronological and timeline order, and yes, those are different. I only ever wrote about a quarter of it, since my primary audience of it disappeared when we graduated. I doubt I'll ever pick it back up properly, and if I do it'll probably go through heavy rewrites first since it's so old. Finishing it is a nice thought, but realistically, after 9 years it'll never be high priority enough for it to actually happen.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, especially arguments, and emotional impact. I've been told I do really well making characters feel alive and believable! Also I like to believe I'm decent at setting a scene and giving it the vibe I want it to have!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I struggle with dialogue tags when nothing much is happening besides the talking. I always feel it's too bland, and fall back on the same phrases. My scene transitions could use some work too.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I've done this with Japanese phrases, because I was a massive weeb. Usually I followed them up with their own translations, though; I'm not the biggest fan of footnote translations, unless they are properly linked to. Simple dialogue tags are my favourite way of indicating a language switch.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Black Cat the Manga/Anime! It's a series about an assassin turned bounty hunter trying to live a life separate from his murdery past, but getting dragged back into things by still wanting to avenge his best friend's death. The series has a special place in my heart and my bookshelf, it left an imprint on 13-year-old me that will never leave.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Probably Jailbreak, uncharacteristically enough! It's one of the only fics I never got stuck in once. Writing it was a great feeling from start to finish. I love writing all of my fics, but that was a special few days.
Tagging @ahrva @nowhere-to-go-but-down @silvercaptain24 and @aeghina! And anyone who wants to do it, really, go wild

Note
hey Kip! I’m sending asks into different writer’s askboxes, inquiring about cool themes/development facts/stuff the author wants to share about their personal favorite work of their own. What’s yours? :)
Ok so this ask is old and when I first got it I was like “dang I don’t really have a lot to talk about, what should I talk about I could those revalink headcanons the Kip Cut that turned into a working fic uhh hmm maybe I’ll just make something new to talk about real quick” and then I did and now there is a 12+ chapter Revalink fic in my drafts and I’m gonna talk about that now, whoopsie doopsie [click "j" to skip]
aHEM, OK so allow me to break out the primary school white board because yeah, I have a lot of thoughts and the oxford comma has not yet made it’s home into my brain. oh and spoilers for paraphrase. for both all of Chapter one and future events in later chapters, but it’s really nothing you couldn’t surmise from the AO3 tags
so I really wanted to tell the story of Revali and Link learning and struggling to love again after the less-than-fortunate events of Botw, but I wanted a...how you say...fresher, approach on the subject? Like I know we always say that fanfic writers writing the same tropes and stories time and time again is good because we eat that shit up--but at the same time I had asian parenting as was told never to half ass anything ever, no matter what. So now I'm gay and extra and have depression maybe and oh would you look at that @motherhyrule has dropped a beautiful revalink prompt right into my lap
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Great so now that we have, that, I shall take you on the step by step process on how to make a :sparkles: story. So step one is to spend at least five to eleven business days for your white board to dismantle your genre and themes and work them around your character arcs. Luckily I have prepared one ahead of time
Tumblr media
s*breaks out those laser pointers that uni professors use* So let's start with defining genre. As define because I HATE you, fuck you. I want you to suffer and writhe on the ground, motherfucker. How dare you think that I would give you nothing but pure predictable fluff, fuck you and yours
is the set of expectations that your audience has when consuming a piece of media
And the great thing about fanfiction is that unlike movies or book where the genres are more vague like, "oh it's a noir mystery genre. so there's a crime, maybe a murder, and a detective and a criminal." or "oh it's a teen romance. so there's some white people and a morally questionable six-pack 18 year old love interest that will be painted as desirable for some reason" BUT with fanfiction HALF of the work out the window, because as soon as you see those #revalink #aro sidon #zelpha #revali is an idiot and #found family tags you already know what's up.
Now what's so great about genre and expectation? Well the fun thing about it is that
I will use it to fucking break you.
... ... ...
<3 For example! <3
In Chapter 1: Holes, you already expect there to be revalink, you already expect them to be soulmates with the soulmarks and there's angst and yadayada ya. Revali and Link have to match because thatttss what this is all about, this is about them! This is about cute, little soulmarks and romantic words!
But whoooopsie doopsie [disney channel laugh track plays] they DON'T match anymore! Link's got a different mark! The number one rule of this entire genre has been broken whoooooooooooooooops. *ba dum tiss*
You might notice with a lot of my writing that I do this a lot, this whole..."oop but there's one little thing that's different." TebaSaki sick fic? Ok cool, but what if Teba burns an irreplaceable relic of the Rito champion to fight a wizzrobe first to characterize why his dumbass clicks with Saki. Mipha deciding to persue Link? Ok what if she chases after a dragon to externalize this conflict as she pierces it's flesh for a scale. Link fighting a Lynel? Ok but what if it's actually a sidlink angst fic in disguise and it's also world building on how Link deals with the bloodmoon that erases all of his efforts which is sort of similar to how his existence was erased from Hyrule 100 years ago mwaahahaha! Ok now that I say this outloud I think I just have a pattern of using fight scenes to externalize character growth. I like fight scenes...anyways.
I think another great thing about the realm of fanfiction is that with the tagging system, I can basically use a chekhov's gun sort of deal, without doing any writing. You know I'm gonna use that gun marked "soulmates" but you don't know when I'm gonna shoot it, and you SURE as hell don't know how.
And huzzah! One of the main points of conflict both drives the tension between Revali and Link, solidifies the unique genre and setting of this world, while also creating a new mystery that will carry over for the next few chapters.
Is Revali right in that Link's rebirth makes him destined for someone new now? What will Link do with the information that his soulmark has changed? Why did it change? Did Revali's change as well? How does anything fucking work right now?
And sure, you might be able to tell where things will end with them, but you sure as fuck will not know how because I HATE you. Fuck you. I want you to suffer and writhe on the ground, motherfucker. How dare you think that I would give you nothing but pure predictable fluff. I am not your goddamn fairy godmother, I will do as I fucking please. You will suffer as you fucking deserve, fuck you and your little tiny--

/j
Oh! But you might have noticed on my little planning whiteboard thing that there was a little T-Chart! For Revali and Link! That's because the next important thing besides plot (and in a lot of cases, including this one, it's argued to be even MORE important than plot) is
~CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT~
[to the tune of that history of the world video on youtube]
So yes, it's a little T-Chart outlining their character views in relation to the themes. And the great thing about themes is that they're not something you can necessarily predict in the same way you can with the genre and plot.
But now see, I'm very lazy so I'm just gonna plagiarize @hyrule-kingdom-updates thingy [that you should read btw] because they said my point quite clear enough
Tumblr media
Now I don't really need to care about those points about bond and relationships and being understood, because I'm dealing with already established canon characters. I'm not some NERD who dabbles with entire casts of ocs who even cares about ocs not me that's for sure ahaahahaahahahahahaahahahahahAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH *cries in my orphaned WTTU fic* AHAHAHA*sobs*DONT FUCKING LOOK AT ME THAT WAY I SWEAR--
Tumblr media
/j I love ocs
But the points I do wanna focus on is the idea that characters provide new perspectives on the theme, and that characters growth can be tracked based on their wants, lies, and needs.
So see, themes can be predicted the same as genre/plot because while you can have the same fanfic plots and tropes, theme will always vary!
Sometimes it's a journey of selfworth with Revali! Sometimes it's an exploration of trauma with Link. Sometimes it's about how you deal with the vulnerabilities of love with Mipha. Sometimes there's straight up NOOOO theme, and people just be fucking, and kissing, and baking, and having a good time. And that is totally fine too!
But I'm not a fucking coward.
I'm gonna weave in themes with my plot, because I fucking can.
I'm not a weakling like you.
Do you hear me, 2019 Kip? Do you hear me Demmers? Do you hear me Quill? I'm coming for your ass. You think you're so great, but I'm coming for you. Rest assured that your graves will be as deep as your sculptured pride--
Tumblr media
Heeeere is that T-Chart again, plus more!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yyyyyYou might notice that Revali and Link are quite parallel, to paraphrase. Ayoooo, see what I did there? *dabs* I'm a genius. Anywho
They both start off the same way: 100 years ago they were in love and happy. Basically the equivalent of childish naivety. For the first time in their lives, life is whimsical and charming, and they make each other happy. In fact, it's almost a flaw with how they perceive this happiness. But don't worry! It doesn't last long!
You know what happens.
I think the chart is pretty self explanatory. Revali builds walls fast enough to give a republican a wet dream. Meanwhile Link makes every aromantic in the chat groan with his doubled down sentiments in the idea that his chances of being truly happy again are gone.
Now, I can't exactly describe the full on process of the inbetweens, and where Revali and Link are gonna go from here, because...you have to read it for yourself! Heehee...but something I did think was fun was how these character views on the themes are revealed. Because you'll notice that, I never give exposition. Ever.
Ok well, let me rephrase that. I never give exposition scenes. I will never give you a big LOTR fancy wizard scene explaining the ins and outs of a character's question or the world's magic or whatever. I'm a very impatient Kip, and I value efficiency. Nonono, it's all about multi tasking, baby!
Chapter 1: Holes is divided into three parts.
Post 100 Years - Medoh (Establishes Ghost Rev/Bonk Head Link's view)
100 Years Ago - Flight Range (Establishes old Revalink views)
Post 100 years - Mark (Develops Ghost Rev/Bonk Head Link's view in contrast to who they once were)
I think the way that you structure flashbacks is incredible vital, as it's a very quick way to characterize people without having them say stuff like "I used to be like you, until I took an arrow to the knee" or whatever.
And with the main structure of the chapters and the fic as a whole is focus on their characters, that means I can hide whatever other stuff I want in those scenes, becuase you're too busy absorbing the fun character stuff to realizing I'm giving you boring exposition. Like for example:
Post 100 Years - Medoh and Mark
Foreshadowing for the end of the fic
Set up connection to Medoh with Revali
Link has defeated Windblight
Link has been visiting Revali every night for the past few days
Link has already met Kass and presumably Teba
Link doesn't have the Mastersword
Revali's Gale is still an ability that needs master and practice on Link's end
And that's just some of the stuff.
And see, the only reason I can efficiently give all of this information regarding character, and even exposition, is because of the theme. The themes make everything relevant, and everything circles and encompasses one another, so there's absolutely no wasted space. I mean don't even get me started on how it's gonna be to characterize the other characters around this
Tumblr media
I don't wanna talk about the other characters too much either because that's spoilers, but you can probably take a gandar based on my notes.
And oh my god this is just on the theme of the faults that come with "soulmates" and "true love" and all that, and how even magical destined relationships still require work and effort, and that no one thing or person solves all your problems. And that's not even TOUCHING the shit on trauma and scars. I didn't think it was even possible for me to talk about botw without touching on that, ha. Ah well, I've been talking for too long.
Revalink has a lot o' writing potential so das pretty cool yeah, I am excite

Are we just going to ignore how Shadow shapeshifted to look like Vio?
I mean, I could just be reading into this too much, (very likely) and this might not make a lot of sense, (also very likely) but if we were to think of this logically, why in the world would Shadow shapeshift into Vio?
Now, generally, people say that it’s because Shadow thinks he knows Vio the best. But, if you were stabbed in the back by your best and only friend, would you really trust everything they said? I mean, being betrayed hurts. We’ve already seen that Shadow didn’t have any friends besides Vio. He hasn’t dealt with this kind of heartbreak, so he’s extra vulnerable. If I was in his situation, I would feel like I didn’t know that person at all.
I think that Shadow choosing to shape-shift into Vio is him choosing to accept what happened, and more importantly, choosing to forgive Vio. I think he’s saying ‘I accept that you lied to me that one time, but I’m choosing to believe that we were actually friends. I’m willing to believe that not everything you said to me was a lie. I’m willing to think that our friendship was real, and you only lied to me when absolutely necessary.’
He had the Dark Mirror. He knew the other Links’ personalities. He had other options.

Hey LU fandom
Can we stop tagging every boy for fics where three of them only have one line?
Or at least use the link-centric (linked universe) tags
What I’m proposing is this:
link-centric (linked universe) tag for main character
link (linked universe) tag for side characters
✨no tags✨ for characters that only say a couple lines / are implied to be there / don’t really do anything but add small bits of dialogue.

Spoilers for the Four Sword Manga:
So I know that we all agree that Wind hates being babied. But like. What if the person who does it the most to him isn't Sky or Warriors or any of the adults, but Four?
My reasoning? Shadow was probably around Wind's age during the manga, and he dies right next to Vio at the end of the manga. Vio got to see a close-up of his friend's light go out of his eyes. At what? 14? 15?
No way he's letting Wind die as young as that.

A Palace of the Four Sword Headcanon
Either I’m really slow or I figured something interesting out. You know how in the palace of the four sword in ALttP, there are four dark links who wear tunics similar to the four colors of the four sword, but slightly different? (Lime vs green, magenta vs purple, orange vs red?) Invert Four’s color scheme. It’s pretty close to the same color - a lot closer than the colors of the four sword. Not to mention, the dark links have dark blue hair, and if you invert Four’s hair, he’ll have dark blue hair as well.
So, I propose this: The dark link wearing lime green is actually Vio’s dark, whereas the dark link wearing magenta is Green’s dark. The link wearing orange isn’t Red’s dark, it’s Blue’s, and Red’s dark is the dink in blue.
(You would fight Vio’s dark first, then Blue’s, then Red’s, and at the end, you’d fight Green’s dark.)

Falling Back in Love With You
Summary: Link wakes up in a strange house, with no memory of the night before. After crawling out of the bathtub with a pounding headache, Zelda calls. She tells him that he needs to gather their friends for an important sports club meeting, and that they only have an hour. As he retrieves each of the athletes, his memories slowly return, and so do his feelings for one of his teammates. Basically BOTW but it’s a college AU. Alcohol CW
This work is available here on AO3.
Chapter 1: Rhoam Residence
An electric darkness pierced the sky. Mechanical monsters crawled over the ruined walls, their bodies scraping against stone. Voices called, thick with fear and import. He grasped at the words helplessly, knowing their meaning would be lost when he regained consciousness.
Link woke to the flutter of piano notes. He shifted slightly, his body protesting against the hard surface beneath it. His confused fingers searched for blankets, but instead found cold walls. Link opened his eyes, gazing up at the shower head and popcorn ceiling.
 A husky groan tore through his throat, betraying his pain before he even recognized it. His head pounded as he looked around the cluttered room, reading the clues in a haze: a crumpled bath mat, a splatter of bile on the toilet seat, empty beer cans scattered on the tile. The piano melody resumed, and he discovered that the sound came from the sink, where a phone teetered precariously. Link touched the blinking ‘snooze’ button on the screen, flipping it over to look at the intricate eye pattern on the black case.
Once the alarm disappeared, the phone lit up with notifications. He read silently, 16 missed texts from Zelda, 7 missed calls from Zelda, 3 missed-
The screen went black. Link panicked for a moment before an image of a dying battery appeared. He huffed quietly, stuffing the phone into the pocket of his blue jeans. He crawled out of the tub and stood in front of the mirror, piecing his appearance together. Dark circles formed under his eyes, his blond hair messy but contained in his usual low ponytail. He was shirtless save for a stained blue towel that crossed his chest. His arms were bruised, his feet bare, and… Link frowned and leaned forward, brushing a finger against his lips. Is that… lip gloss?
His stomach lurched, then emptied itself into the porcelain toilet. Wiping the back of his hand across his mouth, Link collapsed on the bath mat, his back pressed against the tub.
His thoughts swam, sludging through the fog in his mind. They formed into loose questions: Where am I? How did I get here? What happened last night? All of them were quelled when a burning sensation hit his throat.
Link twisted the cold-water knob and stuck his head under the sink faucet. He drank deeply, easing the thirst.
“Oh hey, you’re awake.”
Startled, Link bumped his nose on the faucet. A man stood at the door, with a thick beard and curious eyes.
“You know, kid,” the man said. “She left you a water cup. You don’t have to drink straight from the tap.”
At that moment, Link noticed the large plastic cup on the counter, having overlooked it amongst the mess.
“Man, you kids really know how to party.” the man chuckled, crossing his arms. “I remember those days. How’s your head?”
Link hesitated, unsure how to answer.
“What’s the matter? That bad?”
Link shook his head, pointing to himself, then closing his hand into a fist with his thumb at the side. He brought his knuckles to his lips.
“Oh. Right,” the man said, one hand easing behind his neck in embarrassment. “She mentioned you didn’t…” He cleared his throat. “Either case, I uh… Sorry, but I don’t understand sign language as well as my daughter.”
Thus far, Link hadn’t identified the man or his surroundings, but he tilted his head and threaded his eyebrows as if the movement would magically offer an explanation.
“I’m Zelda’s father,” the man said. “You can call me Dean Rhoam-” His muscles seized up and a grimace clouded his features, but in seconds he was composed once more. The quick recovery seemed oddly familiar to Link. He sensed that he had watched someone else hide their feelings in the same way, many times before.
“Actually, um… just Rhoam now. I used to be the Dean until Ganon… Well anyway, you may have seen me-”
Link’s stomach snarled, interrupting Rhoam, and he looked at his host apologetically.
Rhoam grinned. “Let’s get some food in you.”
Breakfast was baked apples and coffee. Rhoam also handed Link a spare flannel shirt, gingerly taking the stained blue towel to the laundry room. Refueled, Link focused on his surroundings, exploring the house while Rhoam’s voice echoed down the hall.
“I didn’t hear either of you come in last night. Just found Zelda in the kitchen a few hours ago. Said you had been out drinking last night, she brought you here, then you fell asleep in the bathtub.”
Link felt his cheeks grow warm, facing away from Rhoam to examine a set of family portraits. One of the photographs was a young girl, freshly graduated from high school. Her blonde hair was long but neatly kept, eyes glinting with that same inquisitive look as her father.
Of course, he thought. How could I forget her?
Now the memories came back, taking shape. Zelda. His best friend.
“Yeah, she was in a hell of a mood when she left this morning,” said Rhoam. “No clue where she was going so early on a Saturday. Before she went out, she said, ‘Make sure Link checks his phone.’”
Uh oh. Link pulled the device from his pocket, frowning as he looked around for a charger. Rhoam silently pointed to a cord beside the coffee maker.
Link hovered over his phone, watching the screen flash in a lightning pattern. After a few moments, his home screen reappeared, along with 18 missed texts from Zelda, 8 missed calls from Zelda, 5 voicemails from Zelda.
He winced and went first to the voicemails, careful not to budge the charger as he held the phone to his ear.
“Link!” her voice rang out so loud that even Rhoam jumped. Link pictured her, still graceful even when she was furious. “Ugh, why aren’t you awake yet?! I need you to call me back as soon as you get this.” Desperation seeped into her tone. “I know you don’t like talking on the phone but it’ll be faster. We’re running out of time; please hurry!”
  Within seconds, she answered his call.
“Finally! Just in time,” she said breathlessly. “Listen, you remember the sport club budget proposal we were supposed to bring to the dean on Monday?”
Nope. Zelda didn’t wait for an answer.
“Well, Dean Ganon changed the date at the last minute.” The anger crept back in. “He sent an email at 2:00 in the bloody morning, saying he can only meet today. I barely finished the proposal this morning; I’m going to present in a few minutes. But in order to pass it, we need five sport club representatives to vote. That’s where you come in.
“I have you for the fencing club, Mipha for swimming, Revali for archery, Urbosa for volleyball, and Daruk for wrestling. But if they were half as drunk as you were last night, who knows if they’re awake. I already asked my dad and he said you could borrow the van to pick everyone up. Start with Mipha; she gets off work at the rec center at 11:00.”
She paused here, growling softly, “I should have known Ganon was going to do something like this, the cheapskate… If Hyrule University doesn’t accept this budget proposal, he could cut most of our funding. No new equipment, no trips, no tournaments…” Zelda took a deep breath, calming herself. “The meeting ends at noon; they’ll do the vote last. Please, Link, get all four of them here before the hour ends. I’ll stall in the meantime. I’m counting on you.”
Link held the phone to his ear for a few more moments after she hung up. Slowly, he lowered the device to look at the time: 10:45 AM.
