#I guess C3 really is a CR campaign if I watched an episode and enjoyed it and then logged on to see TRULY bananas takes

I have no idea what corner of the fandom or discord this take emerged in, but the people with the same take all veering into "actually the other characters [read: Orym because Liam is an easy target for drastically misunderstanding his character work for whatever reason] need to ask Imogen permission to do anything because they might hurt her fee-fees" are tbh exhausting and doing Imogen as character, Laura as a player, and the concept of collective storytelling and conflict a massive disservice.
Like I'm sorry y'all don't think anyone but your faves should make decisions or have interiority and if they do they're "mean" or "manipulative" and I'm just so freaking tired of these myopic media takes that seem to stem from a weird aversion to have any kind of narrative tension.

Note
are you watching c3 of critrole? why or why not?
hello anon! no i am not (i watched the first episode but that's all i intend to watch)
cr has some really fun plots and characters that i love, but unfortunately the cast & crew's history of racism, homophobia, and transphobia just doesn't sit right with me. just to list a couple things off the top of my head: sam's blackface (which has been posted about but the apology wasn't great imo. x); liam's xenophobic tweets (x), calling beau and yasha "carpet munchers", and calling beau "exotic" in a talks episode (again the last one was 'handled', but two years after the original episode aired); whitewashing beau in official art; opening their art book with an art piece of beau with yellow skin; frequently interacting with artists on twitter like my2k who have been called out on racism but refuse to apologize or change; b/w/f's blatant transphobia (and abuse of power, but that's more opinion-based); etc. furthermore, they claim to be allies but refuse to acknowledge the racism and homo/transphobia that runs rampant in the critter community--when beau and yasha got their tower date and the twitch chat was overrun by homophobes the best they could do was have matt tweet a vague "we intend to play the game how we see fit" statement instead of outwardly denouncing the fans that caused so much harm (which is especially interesting since matt had no issue calling out the fans who were uncomfortable with fjord and jester's age gap and how it was handled with a passionate twitter thread, but whatever! priorities, i guess!) (also that is just one example of many).
besides all of that, i was seriously disappointed with how cr2 ended. the campaign had a great buildup and then ended up taking a crazy left-turn into a previously-unestablished plot for the finale (imo). obviously this is not nearly as important as the stuff listed above, but it is also a factor. i could go on for days about the final eiselcross arc but i don't have the time rn.
moral of the story is that i just wasn't having fun anymore so i left around the eiselcross arc, watched the first half of the finale, and then decided i was officially done.
if any of my followers still watch the show that's fine, no issue here. just make sure you're awknowledging the things the cast have done while you're enjoying yourself, and making sure to call out racism and homo/transphobia in the community if you see it regardless of who it's coming from. so many critters take "don't forget to love each other" to mean "don't call anyone out on anything, ever, and if you do you're toxic". don't be like that! hold your favorite creators accountable, and your favorite community members too.
please don't reblog this!
i'll add in more recipts if you want them, i just have to dig for them and i'm in the middle of something right now.
