so yea im here again to bother (anonymously bc thats the only true way to communicate to ppl amirite) so let's pretend rgg writers didn't pull an asshole move on him and he lives and now hes like. a side character or whatever u can catch him to chat whatever the point is hes alive AND THE QUESTION IS: do you think he keeps appearance aoki-style clean and tidy or he goes back to masato-style emo swag? or is he gonna be the most cursed mix of these both cause i can't decide what to draw and probably im gonna just sketch it all slap it on one sheet and post but i've been hit by sudden interest about what my fellow aoki fan thinks?

my heart wants him to go back to his e-boy swag ways in this purely hypothetical timeline but honestly im not sure, it's somethin i ask myself a lot also: it's beyond just aesthetics and the sort that make up masato arakawa and ryo aoki, so i can't confidently say one thing or another

'ryo aoki' represents 'the paragon of japanese men' yk: clean shaven, conservative haircut, neat and tidy (glasses are just bonus points for 'yeah he looks smart') etc etc. that's not to say ryo aoki was purely a facade or persona, masato obviously had to harbor some puritan ideology beforehand in order to pursue his career as passionately as he did (though spite and a need for love and attention are strong, he probably wouldn't have been as effective in his position if he didn't believe what he was preaching to an extent)

im rambling about all of this cause without the need to keep up that 'perfect image' anymore and being ready to start over, aoki would be free to present however he wants without worrying about his image. would he still like to be seen as immaculate ? would he be ok with that more rugged look again ? a part of me doubts it since that was 'the lowest point' of his life, so why go back to it

that's not to mention how preppy was his aesthetic from birth to his 20's, though now i ask if that was his choice or if that's how masumi thought to present him to look like a regular civilian (not saying masumi was being a control freak over him obvi, im just saying did urge masato towards that kind of style yk. it's just a things parents do, and considering masumi is aware the yakuza lifestyle isn't something to aspire to i'm sure he wanted his son to appear as detached from it as he could--but now this is turning into a ramble about masumi SORRY)

plus, by 47/48, i think he would have outgrown the gritty-yet-flashy aesthetic. if anythin, maybe he'd just dress like masumi did during his 20's- not exactly the same, but something similar

assuming he wouldn't be in jail in this timeline and he was Just Chilling, i also have to ask if he'd want to restart his political career but genuinely this time and pursuing things that would actually benefit japanese society. that's tiptoeing into greater speculations tho but it's somethin' to consider if you want to ask 'what would aoki be like in LaD8'

Getting into petty arguments and fights with sukuna 😭 ik that man would eat everything in the fridge not knowing that those leftover wings were YOURSS 🤬🤬🤬👹👹

Something that annoys him though is how you often misplace things in the kitchen. Sukunas very meticulous about what goes where and is annoyed when he has to look for things when hes cooking bc you've put things elsewhere!!

There are short periods of time where yall are in a non serious but funnily committed "fight" where you guys bicker for no reason and give each other the cold shoulder/silent treatment bc both of u are stubborn as fuck

Its a "fight" but you'll still sit in the same room as him at home, and he'll still cook you nice meals, and you guys still eat together, sleep together, and watch tv together, its just, you know, a little less lovingly, you know??

And then one of you eventually caves in a little bit, which leads the other to also soften up in return.

This morning, Sukuna's putting his shoes on, about to head out for work.

"Hey."

He turns around.

You're holding a muffler, with a disgruntled look on your face.

"It's going to be cold today. Wear this to work," you tell him, as you're wrapping it around his neck on your tippy toes.

"And take your umbrella! I'm always telling you to pay attention to the morning weather forecasts. It's raining this afternoon."

"What’s this? I thought you were still mad at me. Giving in so easily?" sukuna taunts.

"I still am. But this and that are different things. You're still not getting a morning kiss, by the way. Goodbye."

You turn on your heel and walk off, but he pulls you into a backhug and laughs against your ear. He kisses your cheek and then bites the same area.

"Oww! What the fuck!" You're holding your cheek and turning around to smack him on the chest.

"I'll be off, since i got my morning kiss now. I'll see you later."

"I hope you step on dogshit on your way."

"Yeah, yeah, love you too."

Maybe he'll stop by the flower shop after work, and also grab some wings on his way home.

oh hey for anime onlys/ppl who havent read the adventurers bible, a bit of trivia for yall. this isnt super spoilers bc it doesnt really. come up at all? it doesnt appear in the main series At All (that i remember) but does inform a lot of the way they interact: Maizuru (the lady with the cool wing-sleeves who was cooking shuros meal/doting on him) is his governess, and also his dad's mistress. it was apparently an open secret in the household.

because of this, shuro kinda resents her, tho its pretty subtle in the series (kinda hard to tell from him just being world weary and upset at being babied)

so uh. yeah no its not just "ugh im an adult stop treating me like a kid", theres also. this. I would really reccomend reading the adventurers bible if you can, its got so many little things that add depth to the characters, even ones we barely get to see in the series. with this, im pretty sure it doesnt come up at all otherwise! warning tho that the bible DOES contain spoilers for some pretty late series stuff (like, literally up to 10 chapters before the end or some shit) so if youre anime only thus far, i would rec either reading the manga or WAITING for the bible.

also, gonna throw this in too: this part is SLIGHT spoilers just for izutsumi's backstory, but yep, the family literally bought her. and didnt treat her amazingly for that matter (mostly in terms of being super controlling and trying to "discipline" her). ill also include this bit on inutade bc it sheds a bit more light on the dynamics among the group (inutade also having been bought)
