Reiner-centric scenes were the highest on people’s radar, with 24.9% of respondents enjoying his reunion with the warrior cadets, and not far behind, 22.9% enjoyed Reiner bringing up the 104th at the dinner table. In third, with only 13.5%, was Pieck and Porco’s formal introduction to the audience.

Hearing Zeke greet his grandparents with such happiness warmed my heart. I do believe that he loves them.

Last week we forgot to include what your favorite scenes were. The scene from episode 60 that got the most favor was Reiner’s, “I’m sick and tired… of walls” with 33.6% of the vote. 16.7% most enjoyed Zeke’s titan transforming scream. 14.9% were hyped about Reiner and Porco wrecking Fort Slava.

MAPPA WENT ALL OUT WITH THE CINEMATOGRAPHY IN THIS EPISODE. WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE CINEMATIC PANS AND ROTOSCOPE ANIMATION? 349 Responses

Overall, a total of 74.5% respondents have positive feelings about MAPPA’s use of rotoscope animation and camera panning. Some felt like it was akin to watching a movie, while others are just happy to have the dynamic movement. A smaller amount of respondents didn’t have feelings one way or another, and a minority (about 10.3%) really are not a fan of this type of animation style for the series.

It felt odd sometimes as they used it for long scenes (like Udo talking or Gabi telling the story to her family) but overall it was pretty great and I prefer it to WIT's stale animation during season 3

I liked the more dynamic movement during dialogue, but my roommate found it super awkward and off-model. So a fifty-fifty split in a sample size of two lol

It could have been animated better, but I like the extra dimension it gives to scenes

Enjoyed it a lot! However, there were a few scenes that felt a bit off, like some frames were missing. Specifically, when Udo was doing all those gestures while talking with the rest of the Warrior Candidates.

It felt dynamic to the point of looking unnatural - some gestures and expressions just moved wrong

i'm split, in some scenes it was great (like reiner waking up), but in the dialogue scenes the constant movement seemed kinda unnatural and distracting

So far, reception to the newer music is overall positive. 31.1% are really enjoying the music and think the songs are being used immaculately, and 40.4% really feel that the song choice compliments the scenes they’ve been used in. 13.1% think the songs are good, but miss having that sole Sawano feel to them. 10.8% just feel the music is “ok” and 2.6% aren’t a fan of the new OST tracks so far.

I mean it sounds good, but we haven't gotten to important moments that require a memorable track, so we'll see!

First episode slapped because it really complemented the scene but it's more... generic. I didn't like how it was used in this episode, there wasn't enough of it and again, generic. I miss Sawano's unreal scores.

Our first of probably too many crack questions in this poll, 32.7% thought the closeup of Zeke lighting his cigarette was cool looking. 21.4% are concerned about Zeke’s lung health. 19.1% are probably annoyed with us and simply don’t care (lol). 13.3% wouldn’t mind smooching Zeke, and 11% were just plain grossed out.

Most of the responses seemed to feel rather positively about Eldian asses, with almost 40% seeking out Zeke’s ass wiping technique. About 17% simply stated their appreciation for them, while almost 13% are just thirsty. In contrast, a little over 17% seemed confused to the question’s inclusion and about 10% were confused outright.

DO YOU WANT REINER TO GIVE YOU A HEAD PAT? 343 Responses

A definitive majority, almost 59 percent, openly expressed enthusiasm for the prospect of a head pat from Reiner. However, a near 30% fraction of responders didn’t seem too happy about this recent chain of less than serious questions. We’re sorry about that. 😅. The rest either didn’t seem interested in said prospect or noted they wouldn’t care either way.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE DECISION FROM MAPPA TO CONDENSE REINER’S FLASHBACK INTO (PRESUMABLY) A SINGLE EPISODE? 346 Responses

It would appear that the majority of those who took our poll express cautious optimism at the prospect of seeing all (or the vast majority) of Reiner’s backstory being adapted into a single episode, with a near 47% supporting the move, thinking it could make the narrative “more coherent”. Almost 20% argue it would work better pacing wise. On the flipside, just over 17% state that they would rather have a more accurate adaptation to the manga. 11.6% simply say they have no opinion. There were also more than a few write-ins.

I do wish everything could be animated to full detail, but pacing and structure will benefit here

They've done a good job so far, so I'll reserve judgement until I actually watch it.

It will be difficult as they're chapters with loads of dialogue, but they can pull it off if unnecessary stuff gets cut out or changed in some type of way (like watching Marcel's death for the sixth time, them breaking through the wall or even Jean and Eren fighting)

If they get the pacing right, then the rearrangement will be for the better.

Reiner flashbacks + Reiner suicide attempt + Falco meeting "Kruger" (more than 2,5 chapters) in a single episode? HELL NO! WTF MAPPA!

At least it looks like they're going to stick to just one episode for the RBA flashback. It was mostly just filler anyway, so there was never any need to stretch it out and waste precious time getting back to the Paradis side of the story

This question gave us a somewhat evenly split pie chart, but Porco nonetheless managed to gain the bigger piece with just over 55%. Surely due to that bomber jacket and haircut. Nearly 45% picked Pieck (gottem) instead. Must have been the somewhat inconsistent nose.

On the flip side, 68.4% seemed to prefer Pieck’s soft voice. Porco with his (how the hell does Porco sound like… how can you describe his voice) managed to win the hearts of 31.6% of responses.

Pieck voice wtf? I imagined Pieck with a more Hanji-ish voice, not this sweet and high pitched.

DID MAPPA DO PIECK’S NOSE JUSTICE? 345 Responses

The debacle over Pieck’s POWERFUL nose gave us quite a colorful pie chart. Almost 39% of responses noted that Mappa was on point with Pieck’s nose for most of the episode. Afterwards, 26.7% stated that they thought that Mappa got it right only in some points of the episode. On the flip side, another 26.7% thought that Mappa was generally quite on point throughout the entire episode. A small minority (7.8%) thought that Mappa simply did a poor job.

The animation is good, and while I don't want to complain, I have a small problem with the drawings themselves. I feel like they lack precision (like Pieck's nose, idk if that's clear).

I'm grateful for Pieck's nose. I always respected Isayama for drawing imperfect characters, because this way he has made them to look more realistic. Even though Pieck has so-called imperfect nose, she is still absolutely gorgeous. Her imperfections are part of what makes her beautiful and unique.

PORCO’S HAIR - WERE YOU TEAM RED HAIR OR BLOND HAIR? AND ARE YOU HAPPY WITH HIS ANIME COLOR SCHEME? 345 Responses

A far less controversial debacle concerned Porco’s hair scheme. The folks supporting a Blond color scheme were universally content with his hair color (all 57.4% of team Blond). On the flip side, an almost universal approval was also present from team Redhead (13.6% of those supported his blond hair color). 27.5% of the responses seemed to care not about this issue at all, however.

Porco inheriting the Armored Titan is a rather interesting what-if scenario. Perhaps of the most interesting as a whole, so it’s no surprise to see a rather divided opinion of those who took our poll. A little over 36% believe that Porco doing a better job than Reiner on Paradis is a definite possibility. Just over 24% believe it’s not likely Porco would have done better than Reiner. On the flip side, 21.6% think that is is likely Porco *would* have a more successful conduct on the island. 9.2% believe that Porco’s success is a given and in opposition to that, 8.9% think that Porco’s success would have been basically impossible.

HOW ABOUT IF PIECK HAD GONE TO PARADIS WITH THE WARRIORS? 346 Responses

Much less division here, however. 70.5% of responders believe that Pieck’s possible trip to Paradis (in the initial attack) would have not have resulted in a given “mission success” for the Warriors, although she would have been a rather useful ally. Nearly a quarter, on the other hand, think that Pieck’s inclusion would have ended the story right then and there. The rather small minority of the other responders think that Pieck would not have been useful had she participated in the mission.

GABI HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CONTROVERSIAL CHARACTER. HAS MAPPA BRINGING HER TO LIFE CHANGED YOUR FEELINGS TOWARD HER? 342 Responses

64.6% of respondents overall have positive feelings toward Gabi as of right now, with 39.5% having already been enjoying her character throughout the manga. 25.1% now view her more positively with her being brought to life. 20.2% don’t really care about Gabi either way, and 11.7% feel very negatively toward Gabi, without the anime swaying their opinions.

WITH SUCH A DIALOGUE-HEAVY ARC, CUTS WERE INEVITABLE. WHICH CUTS WERE YOU DISAPPOINTED IN, AND WHICH CUTS CAN YOU LIVE WITH?

Overwhelmingly, the scenes that were most missed by manga readers were “Pieck walking on all fours/scaring Porco”, “Zeke mentioning the Ackerman Clan”, “Reiner’s smirk when his family talks about ‘Island Devils’”, and “The imagery of Eren and Armin wrecking ships”. Smaller character details, such as Reiner mentioning how he acted like Marcel on Paradis, Gabi wishing to understand Reiner’s feelings, Falco pointing out how Reiner almost had the Armor taken from him, were also very missed by manga readers, although just less so.

General Calvi talking about Zeke’s loyalty, Gabi getting praise from her parents when they reunite, and Magath trashing the Marleyan navy, were moments that many respondents didn’t feel strongly about one way or another, or felt that these were details that weren’t really needed anyway.

Cutting the scene where Falcon talks about why Reiner kept the AT was really bad. Also the table scene could have been better. Some imagery when Reiner was describing the 104th and his smirk.

The cuts the anime has done made the spectators less informed about some story background stuff. This is in order to direct attention to the marley's eldians planning how to overcome the world's disparagement towards the power of the titans.

I'm sad they cut the gate guards. They humanize the marleyans a bit. Hope they add their scenes next episode and do them justice.

I hope we will get the Gabi/Reiner talk about understanding each other through PATHS when she eats him next episode

Great episode but U was so looking forward to the Reiner scene talking about Paradis “devils”. In the mange it was a powerful scene really adding to the duality of Reiner and the pain he has, and the animation did not do it justice. Plus some parts of his speech were probably hard to understand for a non mange reader without the flashback. (Like which one is referring to Jean for example). I really wish it had been better delivered

them into different scenes. Overall, the majority answered a big, fat, “maybe.” 15.8% are confident that what’s done has been done, and 12.6% are more optimistic that MAPPA will find a way.

Overall I was a bit disappointed. I feel like the amount of material cut from every conversation included really added up overall and gave it a very rushed feel to me. I really hope they add it all in later.

ON THE FLIP-SIDE, WHICH ADDITIONS/CHANGES DID YOU LIKE/DISLIKE?

The changes and additions that MAPPA made were overall viewed very favorably, with the scene of Porco and Pieck interacting with the warrior cadets being the most liked addition. This is followed closely by the overall character movement during dialogue scenes, the small detail about Pieck’s father being unwell, and Gabi shouting “Watashi!” on the train.

I loved the additional details made it very emotional

Unsurprisingly, 42% of respondents are hyped about Kenny’s brief return and Annie’s unlikely encounter with him in the Underground. 22.2% are eager to get that sweet Reiner angst as he is rejected by his Marleyan father. 17.8% are looking forward to Reiner’s training days.

It was just really great to see the scenes animated, it adds another level of depth and understanding to the story I believe.

Loved anime-onlies missing Eren completely. Some even thought it was him but then noticed the leg and thought against it

I think it was very well done. Just need a little getting used to with MAPPA on the reins now. I think MAPPA added some scenes to show how those Eldians over there are still just human after all and they have their own problems to deal with. 8/10 episode.

I feel like they took a lot of emotion way from reiner. made him seemed stoic and determined to go to the island even though in the make he looked scared about having to return.

Incredible, it adapts the source material very well while adding some touches that make it unique in it's own way. As a manga reader, I'm really glad that they're doing this because it feels like a completly different experience from reading it and makes me excited on what changes or directing choices they're going to make during the course of the season, great job so far MAPPA!

Such an amazing episode. Made 20mins feel like 5. MAPPA is doing fantastic. The characters have never felt more alive and the animation style is something I never knew I wanted until now.

The episode was good but the dinner scene didn't do justice to the manga. It didn't have the same feeling to it. I saw a lot of anime onlys thinking Reiner was just trying to talk shit about the 104th. I feel like the flashbacks during that part in the manga gave it a nostalgic feeling that helped convey what he truly felt about his time on the island. His facial expressions were not quite there either. Specially sad because it was the moment I was expecting the most this episode and because it's a big part of Reiner's character, maybe next episode can kind of fix this.

I haven't seen the anime only poll results, but given personal conversations with them I imagine quite a few could care less about the Warriors and are looking forward to the 104th showing up to stir shit up. Boy are those folks in for a treat :)

I knew I'd feel more attached to all of them once they got animated. I didn't expect getting real thirsty for Lainah.

I was so happy with how much detail MAPPA put into the background scenery. Also, I think that an underrated moment during this episode was the Marlian douchebag triggering the Eldian soldier’s PTSD. You could really feel their terror, and THEY KEPT THE HOBO EREN PART IM SO HAPPY!

Its consistently very pretty and well animated which is great of course, but I worry the team won’t be able to maintain this quality for some of the meatier scenes in the later episodes. The fast pace of the episode (compared to the manga) as well as the many cuts make it a bit harder for scenes to stick, I wish there was a bit more breathing room at times. This also makes the fancy animation and frequent rotoscoping cuts feel less impactful for me—with every scene being cut down to its core ingredients, and every scene having at least one cut with more motion and energy than we’re used to, I can’t help but feel it all kind of mashes together without sticking out as much, leaving less of an impact. (I feel really really weird actually complaining about good camerawork/animation, what the hell lol) Also hobo <3

Plenty of questions about ass but no questions about the full ED? Or how we thought the episode did at hiding Eren in plain sight?

The episode wasn't as interesting as the first one. I was yawning from time to time. Yet, I think that Mappa did a great job, because it's hard to animate full of dialogues chapters. I was disappointed of the fact that flashbacks from Paradis have been cut. I hoped to see Sasha, Connie, Ymir and Marco while Reiner was speaking about them. Without the flashbacks we just got the dry speech and this way hard to say what Reiner is really thinking about people he met on Paradis. We - as manga readers - already are aware of his feelings, but anime onlies may not know and see Reiner as cold hearted person. I'm not complaining over animations or the OST tracks because no studio is perfect and some small mistakes here and there won't destroy my fun. I just sit and enjoy the episode.

Very good, with the exception of the dinner scene, in which the director missed the mark completely with the tone.

Does Bones have a BKDK ‘agenda’?

The speculation I’ve seen so far about why Bones cut the flashback from the TodoBaku scenes in Chapter 164/Episode 79 is because they were ‘so preoccupied with BKDK in the new movie that they forgot about Bakugou’s development with Todoroki”. Which does raise the question, does Bones indeed have a BKDK shipping agenda of some kind?

The idea of an anime studio preferring a pairing and adding in tons of extra material to bias fans towards it is an absolutely founded suspicion. Clamp putting out official homoerotic art of Suzaku/Lelouch, that foot wash scene Madhouse added to Death Note between L and Light, Pierrot pretty obviously liking SasuNaru and Naruhina and throwing in tons of extra material for both; Studios do do this. They prefer certain pairings and they play them up. So does Bones have a BKDK agenda?

The answer I’ve found on examination is a resounding “YES”, but Ive preserved my ‘let’s find out’ tone of writing for the rest of the examination.

Well, let’s start with the OPs and EDs, the first original contributions Bones was able to make in the adaptation. “The Day” does indeed have a long sequence focusing on them, but it’s not unreasonable given the content of S1. “Peace Sign” doesn’t include anything in particular, nor do ED1 or 2. ED 3, “Sora Ni Utaeba”, does have a scene of Kacchan meditating about Deku and getting mad, then blasting towards him at the end and the match-cut with his eye. But this is pretty minor, and fits episode 2.24. ED3, “Datte Atashi No Hero”, is the first time an OP or ED appears to have an agenda of shipping these two, hardcore. LiSa’s song is, according to her, about their relationship, and the Fantasy AU ending has the mutual understanding shot at the end. But it also has smiling prince Shoto, Dragon Kiri and Uraraka greeting Deku, so other ships get a nod too.

“Odd Future” has very little, though one could interpret the snow behind Deku as meaning something romantic. “Update” does include the lines ‘love’ over and over again in the final shot where they stand together watching the stars, but others are there as well, like Shoto and Ochako. Aside from the symbolism of DVK2 in OP5, the rest of S3’s ops are pretty light on BKDK, as was Polaris and ED6, and our current OP too. However, ED7 did have those mirror shots of them brooding in bed, and growing up.

So yes, the OPs and EDs do have a lot of emphasized shots between them. But nothing too crazy. Let’s get into Filler, movies and changes to episodes now.

Season 1 features no filler and no overt tweaks to any episodes; the only bit of added on BKDK I can think of is Deku blushing as a kid during the flashbacks in DVK part 1. Nothing too dramatic in Season 2 either, as the filler ep is about Tsu and nothing is particularly altered from the manga, besides throwing in the Kabe-Don in Katsuki Bakugo Origin. OK, that’s a big besides, given the sexual implications of that in anime culture. Season 3’s filler ep has Bakugo challenging Deku to a swimming contest, but there’s also a bit of TodoDeku and KiriBaku and IiDeku extra teasing there, so again, nothing like a pure bKDK-based agenda.

The 2nd filler ep of S3 has a little BKDK, as does the film, but nothing overt. The film has a bit of KiriBaku agenda, given all their scenes together, and throws in extra TodoBaku (the first bit of extra TodoBaku, alongside Episode 58, that they tossed our way). S4 gave us Deku’s soft smile at Kacchan’s antics, and contemplating on the retake arc last ep, indicating that Bones is indeed including little nods. And now there’s Heroes Rising, though that one was Hori’s idea.

My theory is that Bones does kinda like the ship, but that they have started including more and more BKDK because of how popular it’s getting. Winning the Tokyo Tower contest for the film, the 12,000+ fanfics, the unceasing winners of the Popularity Polls….my guess is Bones knows how popular BKDK is, so they’re adding in more fan service of it. But they were adding in little bits since Season 1 (The cherry blossoms, the smol Deku blush), so saying they have a bit of a BKDK agenda might…not be inaccurate. They do throw in a bit of Fanservice for other ships too, like Izuocha, KiriBaku, Tododeku, and even TodoBaku a little.

But aside from the popularity of BKDK…I think it’s also the key relationship of the series. Everything at it’s core is about them, they’re the main characters and the main focus, so it doesn’t seem too silly to slip in lots of them. But they’ve never had trouble tantalizing other pairings before this, even if they always added more to BKDK than the others. So I don’t think they cut TodoBaku’s scene just because they like another pairing better. I mean, that wouldn’t make much sense anyway.

But that is what started this discussion, so now we come to the real main question. Is Bones downplaying TodoBaku for BKDK? Certainly, BKDK is the only platonic pairing in canon that they’ve slipped quasi-romantic fanservice into in the anime (the blush, the cherry blossoms, the kabe-don, all things that have more romantic implications than anything done with Tododeku or Kiribaku). This needs another closer look.

In Season 1, Bones doesn’t especially play up Todoroki, or his future significance. No extra glances that aren’t in the manga, no closeup shots on him when he’s not the subject of a scene, etc. S1 is pretty much a straightforward adaptation of Chapters 1-21, no filler added, no noticeable agenda either way. In S2, that remains the truth for most of the season. I did notice that Bones makes some small changes in season 2 to the framing on Bakugou in a few scenes, like In Episode 25 where he’s made to look especially menacing Pre-last match, or Episode 27 where Jeanist physically restrains him (not in the manga). I’m not sure what agenda that might push, if any, as far as the ships go.

The season added in a scene of Bakugou tutoring Kirishima, which is in one of the Light novels and not the manga. They also, of course, as I mentioned above, added in the Kabe-don in Katsuki Bakugo Origin, as well as that entire alleyway sequence. The filler episode has a small scene between Deku and Todoroki that could be read as shippy. But yes, in S2, Bones doesn’t add in any extra, non-manga Todobaku.

The drama CDs and Smash, interestingly enough, do. Neither seems to have a lot of Todo/Deku, but they sure like slipping in TodoBaku subtext. There’s 2 drama CDs where they get stuck together by villains who want to scandalize them with compromising photographs, and multiple Smash comics joking about how their heated interactions come off as sexual tension. Of course, Smash has fanservice for pretty much every ship at some point.

In S3′s filler ep, Bakugo does yell at Todoroki “you too” after challenging Deku. It’s pretty minor, but it’s new stuff. Everything for the rest of the Training Camp arc is manga-canon and straightforward, as is the hideout raid. No real playing up of any one pairing over the other. The PLE arc adds in some filler that does seem to be hinting at a slight Todo/Momo agenda, since it has her wonder ‘what would Todoroki do’?, and indeed if Bones has a Shoto Ship leaning in any direction, it’s probably that one. But nothing extra added to BKDK or Todobaku that wasn’t in the manga already.

Episode 58 and the movie, however, do add in TodoBaku scenes. Their same usual dynamic from before, of course. Bones seems to see TodoBaku as essentially, how a lot of the fans see them: Bakugou antagonizing Shoto and Shoto’s reaction being an unbrideled ‘meh’. They do depict them working together in the film, and having a secret grin - though that grin has to do with BKDK a little. In context, Baku is being soft that Deku and All Might won, Shoto sees it, and smirks, making him tsun-tsun.

S4 did add an extra scene in Filler ep 3 where they talk about their future plans. There’s an adjusted reaction from Deku in the next ep, where he smiles fondly at Katsuki. The new OP also doesn’t show Todoroki and Bakugou together, alone in any of the shots of them; they’re always separate, brooding about their own problems, when this OP could’ve been a good time to show them together. Outside of crowd shots, they don’t share the screen.

So yes, all in all, the conspiracy theory idea might not be so far off. Bones definitely does include little nods to BKDK that make it even shippier, and does seem to be downplaying TodoBaku a bit, at least more so than the Drama CDs. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, since at least unlike Naru/Hina vs Naru/saku, it’s unlikely to actually influence the series’ content - there is no actual love triangle here to be played up or played down, just fanon ships. Still, it is noteable.

I have some (deco) games for Simmies!

So I saw these board games by MLC, which are great, but they’re in English and I haven’t been able to find Simlish recolours... so I got them anyway, no biggie, but I did find these for Sims 4 while I was at it. They’re by @tinkeringtinkle here, and I wanted to have these. Tinkle’s policy is not the clearest but I think they should be okay with converting and sharing, so here. :) (but if not, let me know!)

There’s a bunch of Cards stuff.

These all use the same texture, so I’ve slaved them all to the closed card box.

I fixed up the card boxes since they were missing a bit of the mesh, might not be the best cause I had no idea what I was doing but it should be ok. XD

Also made upside versions of the single card and four cards, which look dark in the picture but I figured out the problem after I took previews and it should be good now! + I also changed the direction on the four cards so they face the other way. It made more sense to me. XD

Also included is a tiny dice that I completely forgot about till I started writing this. :D

Will show in Hobbies -> recreation.

The game boxes are more straight forward.

There are two of them.

They’re not slaved.

The bigger one has only the one recolour. The smaller one has two.

They both have three slots on top so they can stack (following MLC’s idea with her game boxes). To stack them, don’t forget you can only put one box at the top, then you have to pick up the two boxes you stacked and put those on top a third one and so on!

Here’s a closeup. Isn’t Simlish just awesome? though I have little idea what’s happening in the green one.

Will show in General -> kids stuff.

Everything is low poly, quartertile enabled, and can be placed on OFB shelves with some tweaking, but I wouldn’t sell stacks of those games... that’s just for show. Everything costs 15 save for the dice which is 3.

Files are compressed and clearly named. Collection file included, hopefully it works. It has a tiny dice as the icon.

Ep 5 Random Thoughts

I actually thought this would shorter if I did it one episode at a time lol

Just like I thought, Gaia has a lot of power in Wonkru. This will be important later (We don’t see Ethan this episode either)

I’m glad Indra is still by Octavia’s side but is clearly not fully supportive of her means. Indra’s relationship with Octavia now kind of mirrors her relationship with Lexa (she didn’t always agree with her but ultimately followed her orders)

The framing of Octavia in the gladiator scene is just perfect 👌🏼

“Life-giving medicine” so what exactly is it that Abby is taking? A painkiller isn’t life-giving so..

“threatening to kill 283 of my people is one hell of a way to start a friendship” lol this is literally how they always start “friendships”. Welcome to the ground, Diyoza.

The Hug (Yes it gets it own section)

When the door opens, the fact that they pause to just look at each other

He runs to her and pulls her to him.

Th fact that they stop and stare at each other AGAIN before hugging

Even as they’re talking, they’re looking at each other teary-eyed. This is actually pretty sappy for Bellarke.

They forgot Harper!! I have a feeling it was probably in the script but someone forgot it / the best shot turned out to be one that didn’t mention her.

The fact that Clarke names the 100 while Bellamy names the grounders is important.

They hug AGAIN. Multiple hugs in the span of seconds.

I said it at the end of s4 and I’ll say it again, you do not focus (especially for a long time) on a character’s hands on another character’s back/waist if it’s a PLATONIC storyline.

Close ups are used to direct audience’s attention to important details. The fact that there’s a closeup of a teary Clarke hugging Bellamy, eyes closing like she’s savouring it, followed by a closeup of his hands on her back that pans up to his face is so telling. And it’s not telling a platonic story.

His hands don’t just hold her, they press her into him. Because if this wasn’t fanfic enough.. his hands tighten their hold on her.

They don’t even let go of each other when they start discussing Diyoza.

TV shows and films are painstakingly shot and edited. Every shot is there for a reason. The fact the show included the long shot of them framed in the doorway holding each other... they. are. not. being. subtle.

This is a very hopeful, peaceful moment between them.

Murphy’s “nice to meet you, we’re not bad people” line is just the best. As is Bellamy’s “keep [Murphy] away from the radio.”

They specifically focus on Raven’s reaction to Clarke being alive first. It zooms in and we don’t really see Murphy’s initial reaction. Loved both Raven’s and Murphy’s reactions though.

I’m so here for both Bellamy and Raven thanking Clarke.

They make a point that the line was open. Diyoza et al heard the brief Clarke-Raven-Murphy reunion. Intel.

I’m so here for Kane trying to counsel Octavia like he did Bellamy but when will he realize bring up their mother is NEVER a good idea?!

Octavia doesn’t look like she really wants to kill Kane but she can’t allow anyone to slip out of order.

Aw the way terror queen Octavia jumps into her brothers arms like a little kid.

Also the realization for the grounders that Wanheda is there.

Bellamy and Clarke looking around the place and then looking at each other. Returning to their old ways but also realizing something fucking weird is going on. It took them like 2 seconds to be uneasy around Octavia.

Diyoza belittles Octavia but then realizes everyone listens to her.

... McCreary and Octavia were really looking at each other…??

So who’s gonna make the gif comparing Octavia’s first time on the ground and her return to the ground?

“tell me about the fighting pit. How did that happen? Because it looks like someone read Ovid a few too many..” so Bellamy realized pretty quickly what he had been standing in.

Bellamy tells Clarke there’s a plan and she goes along with it. Bellamy tells Octavia there’s a plan and she doesn’t trust him, her own brother.

So Bellamy’s one moment of peace on the ground has been reuniting with Clarke. He tries to have a quiet moment with his sister but has to convince her to trust him.

We get Clarke reuniting with Kane but not Bellamy re-meeting him.

Apparently I’m gonna like Raven and Shaw together. I’m down for her falling in love with someone who fully appreciates her genius.

Even Miller calls Octavia Bloodreina (that added with the way Bellamy examined him earlier?)

Bellamy is now gonna feel guilty thanks to Octavia. Possibly even because of the whole gladiator thing, since he’s the one who introduced her to Roman history. Hopefully part of his arc this season is letting Octavia take responsibility for her own shit.

Bellamy is hurt by Octavia and immediately looks teary-eyed towards Clarke.

Abby and Raven are being put together so they can figure out what is going on with Abby’s headaches.

Diyoza et al are going up to get their people but they’ll probably return pretty quickly to claim Eden. They’ll keep Abby (and Kane) as prisoners. Clarke and Bellamy will want to go after them, Octavia won’t allow it.

Sci-Fi Romance Thoughts: Arrival

Here we go again! Here’ are my VERY SPOILER FILLED thoughts on the movie Arrival! Like with my mystery movies, I watched 2 “great” movies, two mediocre/bad movies, and one parody. This is my first great movie, I movie I forgot how much I loved until I watched it again. Seriously, compared to the rest of the movies I’m going to talk about, these are super biased. I love this movie.

Who is in love? Louise and Ian

How much time was spent on the romance? I would say 20 minutes total not including the implications of the flashbacks.

Did they end up together? Yes and no. They get married but they also get divorce, but the movie ends with them getting together in the first place.

Did the plot depend on it? Sort of. Mainly through Hannah.

How much lead up? A pretty good amount. It’s a pretty subtle plot point, really, he looks at her really cute, touches her when he can, and talks about how great he is and how he appreciates her. He’s constantly impressed by her. It seems really natural, since them even getting together is just a long hug, really. The only reason you know it went further than that is the flash forwards, so it’s really a subtle romance but you know it’s going to get bigger.

Were you feeling it? HELL FUCKING YEAH-That end scene gives me warm fuzzies even though I know it doesn’t work out and when I first watched this movie I had ALL the hope that one day, outside of the film’s timeline, they’d get back together. I don’t know why, since you don’t actually see much of it, just the results, but I was really rooting for them.

How was it integrated? So this was actually really nicely integrated. Because for most of the movie, it’s a crush that Ian has on Louise, and it looks like she might be reciprocating but that she’s getting over her dead daughter. But when you find out that’s not it at all, and that she’s being tormented by visions she can’t understand, it becomes more of a focus only in the last 2 or so minutes when you see a montage of their marriage. The real integration here was the flash forwards, which he wasn’t even a part of, his main role the implication that he’s the girl’s father. So the romance wasn’t a part of the main plot, but it affects it severely.

How distracting was it? Not at all. I super love this one. It’s subtle enough but still cute.

Kiss? Not in movie...

Sex? No, but the implication is there cos there’s a kid and he asks her to “make a baby” in the montage...god this movie is weird.

Annoyance level: Big Fat Zero

Overall Movie Rating: Legit give this movie a 9.5 out of ten. the only thing is that paradox blurb near the end. But I super love it.

Thoughts! - I love this movie. I want to get the bias out of the way before I even get started. SPOILERS OH MY GOD SPOILERS but woah. knowing how this movie ended has literally changed the first minute for me. The way she looks at her daughter is actually super sad in hindsight. She’s looking at her like that because she knows exactly what’s going to happen! Okay so I don’t want to take up all of this section with comments about the ending and how great it is but this is romance related I promise. I love that jeremy renner’s not here right now. I super love that they focus on her and not them. I know that showing him would reveal the twist but he’s not even a shadow in the background here. This focus is on her, her character, her story, and the only real mention of him is the closeup shot on her wedding ring for a minute. But then he’s just gone and isn’t in the picture, so you know there was someone, but that doesn’t matter right now cos the story is hers. And I love that. It shows that this is not a romance, regardless of the fact that there is romance in here, but that the story is her journey and where it takes her. It’s my favourite. Oh my god that took up like all my notes. OH MY GOD LOL FOX NEWS DIG! Ok so I know that more cows thing has a context but I can’t remember what it is and not i’m just confused. Ok so they meet when they’re on a helicopter and he reads her book back to her with a stupid smile on his face. It’s very obvious from second one, at least to me, that they’re going to be a thing, but maybe it’s just me seeing this movie before? And then he immediately contradicts her book, like he’s kind of riling her up to introduce himself? Idk it’s a classic greeting. Half arguing, it’s not really banter, and it’s not exactly hostile but it’s…heated. Looking at each other all scared and impressed across the room before he’s sick. He’s the first person she looks to for validation when she “gets” it. Ooh. Yikes. I have a problem with hearing “a more advanced race”…that’s inherently anthropologically incorrect and coming from forrest whitaker it just seems even more problematic? I don’t know it might just be me. Is it me? Maybe it’s just me? (crazy ex reference) I also love how this movie isn’t america centric. Like yeah it’s focused in america but you hear other countries making their own strides, it’s not just one thing. I know my bias is showing but this movie is so great. It’s his name that they introduce, rather than anyone else’s. OH YES THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SCENE GUYS. He looks at her all cute. He always has but that’s kind of the main thing. Okay this exchange is very platonic, this exchange about their names, and their reactions to them. Before I felt this as something obviously romantic, but that one moment felt platonic. Shit, the rewatch bonus on this movie is good. So i’m trying to interpret here what his narration means. He’s speaking for her, here, but it’s still about her. He’s talking about her accomplishments, playing up her strengths. He’s impressed by her. But I’m not quite sure this is all of it. I feel like there was some deliberate choice in Ian narrating this bit rather than Louise, who’s done literally all the narration before this. Is it because she’s working and therefore can’t provide the narration? is it him being impressed with her? There’s a reason, I know it. I just…don’t know what it is yet. So he’s even narrating the linguistics now. What does this mean? I know it means something and I think it has to do with the eventual romance but I just can’t put my finger on why. Ok here we go. First real conversation. “I was thinking about you”—he’s really impressed by her work and who he is. “that’s probably why I’m single” classic line, bro. “you and I are a good thing, right?” ooh, nice save. jeremy renner’s left handed? huh. Here we go, first mention of “dad”. OH SHIT, TALK TO ANIMALS I GET THAT NOW! So they mention they’re divorced, so thats the first clue of what happened to him. He’s worried about her, cute. I love this. What looked like depression is now confusion and it’s fucking brilliant and this movie is so good. He’s the one who checks in on her. FORESHADOWING FOR THE FUCKING WIN. If they know the radiation levels are fine, why is everyone else still wearing hazmat suits? hes the only one that backs her up, oh wait those other scientists! they’re going to fucking bomb them and they’re cool with letting them die??? wtf? I forgot about that. Ok this is great. You only see the “flashbacks” when she’s working on the language!! He’s the first thing she asks about, though that makes sense here, but then she wants to know where he is and he wouldn’t leave without knowing if she’s ok. We have the first hint of who the father is! I wonder what I thought of this the first time? was it that she had a thing for scientists? or that she was pulling back from ian because of a previous failed marriage to a scientist? or that there was no connection? idk. I don’t remember. Oh and then she always wakes up like it’s a dream. This is so not romancy i’m going on about the foreshadowing but I love this movie, so…Oh shit the first clue that this is not a memory I love it! I should shut up about it but ooooh god. He’s the one that notices she’s gone, oh shit I just realised you saw her see the future! like that just happened! I didn’t even notice that! Oh he’s so happy that she figured it out. OH SHIT WHAM LINE that threw me so far off guard the first time I audibly gasped. He immediately comes to her with a coat and catches her when she falls, panicking and holds her until she’s ok, but he responds to her talking about why her husband left her with “you were married” and it’s both nonchalant and out of place and I don’t know what to make of it, really. He keeps his arm around her, his hand on her back. Now truthfully I actually hated this part the first time around. it felt like a copout. The whole stable time loop. I think i’d like it a lot more if present her didn’t count on future her to solve present problem, since her future self only knows it because her past self used the future self to figure it out and ugh. that’s a major paradox, and I don’t do well with paradoxes. Taking excuses to touch her however he can,..that sounds weird but yeah. Ok this part made me mad too, and it still kind of does, paradox aside. because past self needs shang to show future self his number so past self will know it, but wouldn’t past self remember the phone number since she would also remember past self calling it? she seems confused that she even called him but that’s just flat out in the past, why wouldn’t she remember that? “I called you didn’t I?” yes, he just said that you did…That’s why this part of the movie kind of made me mad. it’s the ONLY thing about it with jumps in logic and yes, it’s nitpicky but that’s just a testament to how good the rest of the movie is. This conversation in the future would have been perfect, actually, if future amy adams didn’t look so confused about it. that’s definitely something she would remember, if she literally caused world peace. Cos it makes sense for the conversation to happen if the stable time loop was where they were going with it,he’d have to say it otherwise there’d be no way to remember it. but even if she didn’t remember exactly what the dying words were, I feel like she at least had to have remembered the phone call. Is it just me??? His “buy me 20seconds” is literally throwing himself in front of a bullet for her, so…touching her shoulder, putting his arm around her, she knows that they’re going to get married but she’s choosing to go through with it. She has that “it was you all along” moment “you know what surprised me most? it wasn’t meeting them, it was meeting you”, nice sweet hug with flash forwards to their marriage, even though she knows he’s going to leave her. I also love that her whole life is HER choice. That’s really cool. FUCK that movie’s good. Really, if it weren’t for that one maybe 10 minute segment near the end with the paradox this movie would be pretty much perfect, honestly. Holy shit I took so many notes and they’re all about how great this movie is…

So ummm…this happened!!!

So if you’ve been following me on Instagram, I kinda just announced the biggest thing that has ever happened to me. Guys! I got engaged on Kauai to the love of my life! AHHHHHHHH!!!!! I AM A FIANCÉ NOW!

You’re probably thinking, “Wait whaaaa….you…were…in a relationship?” It’s okay. I meant to keep it private. It took everyone by surprise…like everyone…even COSMO!??!?!?!?

Before I get into the romantic proposal story, I just have to say that when Sam and I were Ubering home from LAX, we got a notification for this article, and when we opened it up – we just about DIED laughing.

First, at the fact that we were important enough for Cosmo to write an article about, and then secondly – I mean THAT HEADLINE. It is golden. Just golden. The Uber driver probably thought we were lunatics. We were CRYING. DYING. We couldn’t breathe.

Sam and I got engaged on August 16, 2017 in Kauai and I kept it a secret from you guys until the 22nd. Sam chose the 16th because it is my favorite number. And now, as I am writing this, I just realized that we announced ourselves publicly as a couple on the 22nd…which is Sam’s favorite number!

Though I never officially shared Sam with you guys, if you look carefully, he’s actually been in quite a few on my YouTube videos! POP Songs in Real Life and Train Like a Beast, Look Like Beauty Workout just to name a couple. We kept our relationship private because as a “public figure”, there are just some things you need to save for yourself. To me, love is very precious, and I did not want to put our relationship or Sam in a place of constant judgement. We needed to purely and genuinely develop our relationship without the pressure of followers, likes, and comments etc.

I actually had trouble writing the engagement announcement caption because in a way, I almost felt like I had been hiding a secret from you guys. I didn’t want you to be mad because you guys pretty much know EVERYTHING about me – except for my dating life. It took me an hour to write the IG caption and when I posted it, my heart was racing. Was my biggest moment going to be ruined by people being upset that I was hiding something from them?

Thank you Nicole for saying that. It made me feel a lot less anxious! And not that this matters AT ALL, but our engagement announcement is the highest liked thing in the entire history of the entire Blogilates Instagram!

I think the highest liked post I’ve ever had like before this was around 64k. I got into the mid-50s with Taylor Swift. But this? THIS comes to show that people really love LOVE. Sam and I are so happy that you guys are celebrating with us. THANK YOU. I cannot wait to share more stories about our relationship and things we’ve learned over the years. We’ve been together since college and he knows me better than any person in the world, including myself.

So for those of you who have not read it yet, here is original engagement announcement:

I’ve been waiting a week to post this because I wasn’t sure how to tell you guys. Most of you probably didn’t even know I was in a relationship because I’ve been very private about my life offline. But now, there are no more secrets.

He knew me and loved me before Blogilates ever existed. We dreamt together, built together, failed together, lost hope together, and found what we were desperately searching for in one another…together. We’ve been through so much and I 100% would NOT be who I am today without him.

I want you to meet my biggest supporter, my best friend, the man of my dreams, the man of my reality, the only one who can make me laugh within 5 minutes of a heated argument by putting on my favorite Disney songs and forcing me to dance with him…the amazing Sam.

That evening Sam told me we needed to go take Instagram pics at this cool cliff he found. So right before golden hour, I got ready, put on my new dress, and did my hair & makeup! Once he walked me to the edge of the cliff, he bent down to get his camera and said something along the lines of “Oops, I forgot my camera.” He was probably confused because all I said was “Oh ok!” (I don’t know, the scene was too pretty to get mad!)

Then…I saw a black box. And I was like ummmmmmmmmmmmmm.

(Because we ALWAYS discuss everything and we definitely did NOT discuss what was about to happen!)

He got on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?” And all I could say was…”Wait, is this real?”, “You’re kidding right?”, “Hold on, this isn’t fake?!”

He was like, “NO CASSEY! THIS IS REAL!!!!”

And at that moment, I started crying, he slipped on the most beautiful ring I had ever seen, he turned me around, and I saw my sister and her boyfriend snapping pics and shooting video from behind a well positioned bush.

IT. WAS. UNREAL.

So there it is guys. I got engaged in Kauai to the love of my life. It feels like a dream but Sam reminds me that it’s definitely real.

There’s so much more I want to tell you but Instagram won’t let me write more.

My baby sister Jackelyn was taking pics the entire time! Her and her boyfriend Nick (we call him Nickles) were behind a literal fir fort being all sneaky. I HAD NO IDEA. LIKE ZERO IDEA. We had to go back to the scene of the event before we left Kauai to re-enact this photo for you guys so that you could appreciate the fir fort. LOOK:

I was CRYING once I realized Sam was asking me to marry him for real! Then Jackelyn and Nickles came over to hug us and we took some selfies on a cliff. In case you’re wondering, Sam proposed to me on Punahoa Point in Kauai. It was perfect. Just PERFECT.

Ah, and the ring. Want a closeup? Okay cuz I took a closeup to show y’all! I can’t stop looking at it! AHHHHHHHHH!!!! (Also thank goodness I got my nails done the week before!)

You know what’s funny?

LITERALLY a couple weeks ago before we went on vacation I told Sam that I hate rings, don’t get me a ring, and that our love does not need to be shown off by an overvalued rock. I said take the money and let’s start another venture instead! Hahaha.

Omg he must have been DYING inside because Sam and lil sis have been working so hard CUSTOM DESIGNING this ring just for me – in secret!

I remember a few months ago Jackelyn asked me if I HAD TO pick a ring what it would look like. I was like…ok fine, well if you force me then something that doesn’t look like a traditional wedding ring!

I want it to look like a rose on a vine!

She was like…what!?!?

Well baby sis and fiancé, you guys knew me better than I knew myself because I DIDN’T KNOW that I could love a ring THIS MUCH. It is so beautiful and the fact that you guys designed it for me makes it even more special. What’s a Blogilates ring if it ain’t got some pink stones and a rose gold band!?!?

You guys crushed it on the design!!!

Finally…for those of you wondering…how does being a fiancé feel different from being a girlfriend?

Surprisingly it feels REALLY different! I feel like I’ve unlocked a new level of adulthood and am experiencing a heightened kind of love. Its so weird and magical! ✨ Eeeeeeeeee!!!

Now onto the wedding dress search! THIS IS GONNA BE FUN.
