ES Journeys Main Cast: Silvia the Sylveon
Hello everyone again. Today I'm talking about the last of the main cast of ES Journeys (Not really because Axel but just wanted to do the main 9 first) so this post will be about Silvia.
Remember that the main thing you should know about my version of the cast is that they are supposed to be as closely accurate to how they were in the comic in terms of personality and backstory as possible while also changing things to improve them by adding, removing, or expanding things about them.
Now without further ado, here's Journeys Silvia.
(Note: Not everything is fully fleshed out. These are just the main ideas I have and am currently trying to flesh out)
Silvia Silvia is a well known character for a couple of reasons. She's known for flirting with boys, her friendship with Crystal and Lazuli, having Gai as her older brother, friends with Manaphy, her weird yellow eyes thing that seem like a joke but is actually a power she has, and her romance with Silvia which is also toxic and contradicting.
Yeah... Silvia has some interesting stuff but a lot of it is pushed to side because of Eeveelution Squad is a Speed's harem romance plot. Bleh! Anyway I plan on giving Silvia some extra stuff and actually do stuff with her.
Personality Silvia is more or less the same as she is in the comics. She's cheerful and energetic, always having a smile on her face. She can also be a bit mischievous sometimes as she would sometimes pull harmless pranks off with Crystal. Despite that she cares about those she cherishes and does what she can to help.
Silvia can be pretty flirty. During Silvia's childhood she flirted with boys a lot by using Attract on them as she liked the attention she got from them. This behavior of her's can get her into trouble a lot and luckily she stops doing this after Kalos. After Kalos she stops but does it in situations where she has to do it.
Silvia has had feelings for Speed since her childhood and even after moving away to Kalos she still felt love for him. When she reunites with him in Kalos, she really wanted to get together with him again despite Speed showing he doesn't feel the same way. Silvia does get jealous a little of Lazuli trying to make advancements on him but doesn't really do anything crazy.
Silvia had a strong fear of heights after an incident in her childhood. Whenever she sees she's at a high place she instantly holds onto someone tightly and cries. She does get over this fear eventually.
Silvia is alright with battling but during Kalos she liked doing Pokemon Showcases more.
When it comes Sylvia and the subject of moms, Silvia is a little sensitive about her. Since Silvia was still an egg when her mom left she never got to meet her or know her and whenever she asked her dad or brother about her they wouldn't or couldn't give a good enough answer. She wonders who her mom was and why did she leave her and the rest of her family. The lack of maternal love in her life is the reason why Silvia started flirting with boys and using Attract on them. Despite lacking a motherly figure in her life, she's really good with kids as shown with Sunshine and Mana.
Silvia likes to sing. An early dream of her's was becoming a pop star and she is a really good singer. She did covers of songs that she posts on her Poketube channel. Silvia can write original songs like the Eeveelution Squad's theme song, "To be the Greatest Team" (I'm not a music writer so the Eeveelution Squad's theme song is just the Pokemon anime's Japanese opening, "Aim to be a Pokemon Master").
Silvia likes collection Pokemon plushies.
Moves, Ability, and Battle Style Silvia in this AU is much stronger than her comic counterpart as she actually fights however there is one change. The yellow eye thing she had in the comics that made her strong enough to lift a Luxray, Absol, and Hydriegon as well as the entire main cast is not part of her in ES Journeys.
Silvia's battle style is pretty generic with her her using a mix of physical and ranged attacks. Despite that having a basic battle style, Silvia uses moves like Attract and Baby-Doll Eyes to make her opponents lower their guard so that they're open to an attack.
Silvia uses her ribbon feelers to her advantage as it allows her to grab things from afar for offensive or defensive purposes however if she stretches them too much it'll begin to hurt. Silvia's feelers can also help her understand how someone is feeling by wrapping one of them around a Pokemon.
Silvia has a wide array of Fairy-Type moves as well as other Type moves. Her movelist and when they're learned: -Tackle (XY) -Attract (XY) -Baby-Doll Eyes (XY) -Covet (XY) -Draining Kiss (XY) -Disarming Voice (XY) -Fairy Wind (XY) -Moonblast (XY) -Alluring Voice (SM) -Dazzling Gleam (SWSH) -Misty Terrain (MJ) -Misty Explosion (MJ) -Twinkle Tackle (SM; Z-Move) -Max Strike (SWSH; Dynamax) -Max Starfall (SWSH; Dynamax)
Silvia's ability is Cute Charm. When a Pokemon makes contact with Silvia she can activate this ability to make the opponent infatuated with her.
Silvia's Backstory Silvia hatched on March 27, 2001. She lived in Sunny Town with her dad, Frank and her older brother, Gai who is three years older than her.
Throughout Silvia's early childhood she mostly spent it alone as Frank was busy with doing classes at home while Gai was in school. While Frank and Gai do give her love and attention, something felt missing for Silvia and that was the love from a mother. When she asks Gai about their mom he says he doesn't know much and when she goes to ask Frank he dodges the question.
On April of 2004, Silvia attends school for the first time. While there she became friends with a Vulpix named Nora and a Skitty named Daisy. A few years later, Silvia learns Attract and she decided to use it on the boys of the school to give her attention as a way to fill in the missing love from a mom. Over the years many boys fell for Silvia after she used Attract on them with one of them being Hydra and while Silvia loved the attention she was getting it still wasn't enough to fill in that missing thing. Due to having so many boys wanting her, Frank had Gai watch over her in and after school however he's often doing his own thing with flirting with other girls.
In 2011 one day, Silvia meets Speed for the first time who was with Trace and recognizes him as the Eevee who stood up to Shade. She attempts to make Speed fall for him with Attract but is surprised to see that it didn't work. As she left him alone, she was interested with Speed not falling for him unlike the rest of the guys. A week later, Silvia would run into Speed again and when she uses Attract again and it fails, he asked her why she did that to which she responds saying it was a test which weirds him out and makes him leave but Silvia's interest him increased.
One day Silvia wandered south of Sunny Town and was at a coast where there was a cave close by. When Silvia goes in the cave she saw a Manaphy and was amazed by the sight of it. She approaches the Mythical Pokemon but when it saw her it was scared but Silvia reassured her she wasn't going to hurt them. She introduces herself to the Manaphy and the Mythical Pokemon didn't have a name to introduce themselves as they reveal they hatched yesterday. Silvia names the Manaphy as Mana and when she asks the Manaphy where it plans on staying it said they wanted to stay in the cave so Silvia said she'd help decorate it.
Silvia went back to town to get some help with decorating the cave but unfortunately Gai, Nora, and Daisy were too busy to help. She soon finds Speed with Trace and asks him to help to which he said he will after being convinced by Trace she and him went to the coast. Silvia introduces Speed to Mana which shocks him and he tells Silvia that it's best that Mana's existence should remain between them since it might be dangerous if too many people knew about Mana which she realized he was right. After that the two helped decorate the cave with stuff Silvia brought. After they finished decorating the cave the two talked for a bit and then Silvia thanked Speed for helping and starts to look at him lovingly which he notices. When Speed asked why she was looking at him like that, Silvia said she's starting to like him. Ever since that day, Silvia often hung out with Speed and would often tease that they're dating which Speed denies every time.
One day, Shade attempted to get rid of Speed by hiring a criminal Fearow to kidnap him however due to Shade not anticipating Silvia being with him, the Fearow took the wrong Eevee. Silvia was scared as she was kidnapped but was luckily saved by Speed however this incident made her develop a fear of heights.
On January 22, 2013, Silvia graduated from school. While she wasn't exactly sure what she wanted to do for her future, she decided to try to become a pop star so she often did covers for songs that she'd upload onto her Poketube channel to build her following.
A few days after graduating, Silvia learned that Speed's birthday was coming up so she got him a scarf and as she thought of all the times she spent with him, she eventually realizes she genuinely does love him which causes her to evolve into a Sylveon.
In April, Frank after officially becoming a professor and finding a place for his lab in Kalos of Lumiose City, he told Silvia and Gai that they're leaving Sunny Town so they packed their things up. A few days later after shipping their stuff to Kalos, with only a few hours left in Sunny Town before heading to the airport, Silvia went around to say goodbye to Pokemon she knows like Nora and Daisy, Mana, and most importantly Speed who in her final moments with him gave him a kiss on the lips. After that, Silvia leaves Sunny Town and the Kanto region and moves to Lumiose City in Kalos.
Some time has passed and Silvia and her family have settled into their new home in Kalos. Silvia continued making more song cover videos and while she enjoyed the new city, she missed the Pokemon she knew in Kanto. She also missed Speed as her feelings for him hasn't left and wouldn't leave for many years. Some years go by and soon some Pokemon that Silvia knew moved to Kalos with Nora and Daisy moving into Lumiose City together and Mana managing to make it to Shalour City with Silvia helping it set up its new cave home.
In March of 2018, when Gai was watching that year's Vertress Conference on TV, she saw Speed battling and was surprised to see him.
In October of 2018 when the Eeveelution Squad arrive in Kalos for the first time and were in Lumiose City, she reunites with Speed after so many years and meets the rest of the Eeveelution Squad who she knows of thanks to Gai. Before the team left Lumiose City to start their Kalos journey, Silvia wanted to join them as she thought adventuring with them would be fun but for a personal reason, she wanted to try to get with Speed again for real this time.
Silvia's Journey In XY, Silvia makes her debut and is the last newest member to join the Eeveelution Squad. Silvia unintentionally causes trouble within the team as Lazuli and Pearl get jealous of her and her flirting behavior can get her and the rest of the team in trouble. Silvia makes an attempt to get with Speed again for real this time however Speed doesn't feel the same way and she has to learn to accept that he doesn't like her that way. Silvia takes part in Pokemon Showcase where she leads the girls of the team and has a rivalry with other Performance Teams like Nora and Daisy's, Flora and Cream's, and Sylvia's which she doesn't know that she is her mother.
In Sun & Moon, Silvia learns to appreciate life as well as the Pokemon around her which is her team who she starts to see as family. Also before the team's Alola journey started, Silvia asked her dad if there was a place where the team could stay in the region longer to which Frank gave her the keys to his summer house and said they can stay in it for as long as they stay in the region.
In Master Journeys, just like with the rest, Silvia was against the team splitting up to train but is convinced that it's best for the team if they want to get through the Ultra Class in the World Championship Series.
With that done, that is all for Journeys Silvia. What do you think of her? Leave your thoughts for me to read.
Well that's it. Now that Silvia's post is done that is all the main cast (Again not counting Axel as I wanted to do the first 9 Eeveelutions) for ES Journeys. So what do you think of my takes on the Eeveelution Squad's main cast? I really did try with making the characters be better in terms of role, portrayal, and just overall being better than how they were in the comic while fixing their flaws while also making them fit with the AU setting of a Shounen competitive battling story. I really hope you all like my versions of the characters.
Despite being done with original 9, there are still plenty of other ES characters to talk about from the non Eeveelution side characters like Trace and Spike to the parents like Brian, Bolt, Rin, Alfred, Sylvia, and etc. If there's an ES character you wanna hear about in my AU then let me know and I'll most likely make a post about them. With all that being said, see ya everyone!

HCs abt an S/O of Lady D's who's struggling to get her daughters' approval? It's rarely addressed in fanfics, but y'all.. becoming a stepparent is a hard and frustrating journey, especially when mama and kids have such tight bonds. Makes small wins feel so rewarding, tho! What are your thoughts on that? How would D react, how would she help? (or make it harder, in true possessive Mother Hen™ fashion..) Which flybaby would warm up to S/O first? How would S/O try to win each of them over, etc..?
Oooh this is a really cool thought! Not that I have a lot of experience with stepparents but yeah, changes and adjustments in family dynamics like that can't be easy. I think I'm gonna have some fun with this.
When the Dimitrescu sisters found out you were the human dating their mother, at first they were mostly indifferent. Not like it's their business as to who Alcina gets it on with anyway (and they could also be thinking you would quickly turn to lunch if you fuck up badly enough, in which case they would gladly join her in the feast.)
They might quip with you sometimes, but for the most part, you're left alone.
But when they realized you were here to stay and might become a parental figure in their life... oh boy.
You're telling them they have to answer to you now? A mere mortal? On what grounds? Just because you have sex with their mom? They think the fuck not.
Hell, they're individually old enough to be your parent, so truly... what the fuck?
(Part of that fear of you joining the family may come from thinking that Alcina now has someone else to preoccupy herself with, so there's less time for them. Perhaps even less love for them. They can't have that. That can't happen.)
As for your partner's reaction? She's kind of torn. On one hand, she understands how her daughters feel about having a new family member suddenly join the dynamic -- someone they barely know relative to each other. You could have been around for a few years, but they've been all together for more than half a century, and they're doing just fine.
On the other, she wants to see you all getting along. She loves you and wants you to be a part of her life, and of course she also loves her daughters with all her heart.
She's not really sure what to do, so she kind of... ends up not doing anything.
But she is curious as to what you'll do about the situation though, since the sisters would hardly make it a secret that your presence is an annoyance at best, completely unwanted and unwelcome at worst.
Bela, surprisingly, might be the hardest to win over. You would think that, as the eldest, she should be the one to lead by example and be the mature one. Plus, she's always looking for her mother's approval, so approving of you may get her on her good side (and yours.)
But she's very opposed to change, especially one that affects her life this much when it's not her choice.
She lets Cassandra and Daniela get away with pulling harmless pranks on you to get under your skin, or make Alcina mad at you. She pretends to not have a direct hand in them and would passive-aggressively remark on whatever they did.
Oh, your clothes were misplaced and looking for new ones made you late to a date with the Lady? "None of them were very nice anyway. This is doing you a favor."
You found dog poop under your bed and now you reek? "I don't smell that much of a difference."
Getting doused in sticky honey and molasses somehow? "At least Mother has a reason to think you're sweet now."
They would never do anything to hurt you, not unless they want to incur their mother's wrath or sadness, just... little things (hopefully enough to get you to leave.)
But luckily, if you're a patient and persistent person, they (ever so) slowly warm up to you in different ways.
The most important thing to remember is that they're different people despite having a lot of things in common, so your manner of approaching them will have to vary for each sister.
Daniela might be the easiest to win over, such a sociable little fly. She might try to be standoffish at first, but if you bring up a book series that she enjoys reading as a topic for conversation, she can and will keep you there for hours talking about the characters, dissecting certain themes, and explaining her theories of the inner machinations of the plot.
If you actually start reading it upon her recommendation, she becomes ecstatic. Finally, someone other than her sisters she can explain these theories to! And someone who can actually relate and add on to them!
Eventually, she'll come to realize that having you around won't mean the end of their family. It just means they're getting more out of it -- a new member to love, and one who loves them.
Cassandra might be a little territorial about her current interests, so you'll have to take on a different approach.
Maybe try introducing her to something that peripherally matches what she likes now. She seems to really like hunting and torture to take her aggression out on, so uh... maybe try martial arts?
It would be more fun if it was something the both of you were new at, so you could bond over attempting to do things together. Nothing says "I want to get to know my stepdaughter better" like letting her throw you to the mat and laugh in excitement when she gets the technique right.
She is still very stubborn though, so she may take a while to fully convince. Even when it seems like you're on her good side, there's a tiny bit of denial. But she'll come around, no matter how reluctant.
Finally, as for Bela, she just needs to see that, though most of her family now genuinely likes you, that it doesn't have to change a thing about how they feel about her either. They're not going to abandon her or anything that drastic just because someone new has entered their lives.
Seeing her sisters approve of you can be jarring, no matter how long or gradual the process may have been. Like, weren't they switching out your shampoos and putting snakes in your closet last year? Why is everyone buddy buddy now? (Why are they leaving her behind?)
She'll start to act bitter toward everyone, feeling like she's been betrayed and shut herself away. She doesn't even want to see her own mother anymore.
But eventually, you have to talk to Alcina to do something too -- she could see you were making an effort, but she's not making it clear to her daughters what exactly was happening. She should be the first to approach Bela regarding the subject, along with her sisters.
You may need some time alone with her as well to drive the point home too. Having more people in the family doesn't mean less love, but in fact it means more, because now you're there to care for her too.
And she has to admit that seeing her mother care for you, having her sisters like you, it didn't really feel like they were any different towards her. They were more insistent in getting her to spend time with you, sure, but other than that... things were mostly the same.
The acceptance may be begrudging at first, but when she actually gets used to this new norm, she'll come around.
If you want to bond with her, you can teach her something. She likes learning new things, and she'll start to warm up to you more if she has reason to keep going to you to get this new information.
It can be anything -- music, arts, sports, cooking, you name it. Even introducing her to new technology will help get on her good side. You'd be surprised at how quickly she gets into it that you start to wonder why it was so hard to get her to like you in the first place.
Also, just talk to her. As a person, as your new daughter, whatever. Just acknowledge her and be honest. She appreciates the little things.
All in all, it's going to be tough. The journey will have its ups and downs, and not everything is going to be smooth sailing. Communication is key, though, as with any sort of relationship. Let the girls know you care for them just as much as you love and care for their mother. In a way, that's all they really want.
But they're not calling you "mom/dad/parental unit". First name basis with a stepparent (affectionate) all the way.

Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Slytherin!Reader
Summary: Fred and you have never been sure of your feelings for one another.
Word Count: 7,823
Warnings: A bit of bad lenguage, and slow burn(?
A/N: This is the first thing I’ve written in 6-7 years, so let me know what y’all think, I’d appreciate it a lot:) Also, forgive any grammar mistakes, english isn’t my native lenguage, haha
GIF credit: @fgweasley
Tumblr media
Fred liked looking at you from afar.
He liked the way how you were different from all the other Slytherins even though you actually were like the rest of them.
Since your first year at Hogwarts, he’d taken a liking towards you. Of course at the beginning that liking was just friendly, he liked that he didn’t feel the need to punch you in the face, he’d never admit it tho, not even to George since they’d been taught to mistrust those in your house; but during that first year he’d always notice how you were the only Slytherin in the room who wouldn’t talk in class unless you were asked to by the teacher, he liked that you didn’t look at him or at George with despise. Of course, there were also times where the thought of you quietly and discretely planning a mass murder would cross his head, but you never gave a reason to worry that his suspicions were actually true.
Fast forward to your 3rd grade, after the winter break, he noticed in the platform how much your parents would actually show you their affection, that was also weird for the majority of the Slytherin kids he could recognize, and it wasn’t until that moment that George noticed him looking at you that he said:
“Oi, we’ve never pranked her, have we? Maybe we should pay more attention this year”
Fred felt terrible in that moment for having put you on George’s radar, he didn’t want to pull a prank on you, right? Although, to say the least, he was curious at how you’d react, after all, you weren’t insufferable like the most of your house, but you also weren’t the quiet mouse that you were during your first year, he’d seen you become more social, he’d notice how you would actively participate in Divination class asking Professor Trelawney real questions instead of mocking her like the rest of the students. He’d also see you talking to Abigail Rosier during dinner and often times he’d see you walking around the castle with her, so he concluded she must have been your best friend.
One night after dinner, when your fourth year was beginning,  he was sneaking away from Filch, until he overheard Malfoy yelling at someone:
“… keep defending them?”
“Because you insist on being a bloody cunt to them for no goddam reason!” It was the first time he had ever heard you say bad words, or even angry, you’d usually keep a neutral aura that was sometimes disrupted by your friends being funny or by him and George who had gotten a like to pull little harmless pranks on you. “They’re wizards too, Malfoy. Their blood status shouldn’t matter to you or anyone, that’s none of our business, they are just like us”
“Speak for yourself, I’m nothing like those blood-traitor weasels or that mudblood…”
“You’re right, the Granger girl is smarter than you could ever dream to be” In that moment he picked up what was happening, you, (y/n) Lafington, were defending his little brother and his friends, and you weren’t even friends. Were you? Did you think that them pranking you was being friends?
“My father will hear about this”
“Well, make sure to send him and your mother my love” He saw Malfoy starting to walk away “You’re children Malfoy, you don’t have to do this, leave them alone” He heard that last phrase with a smile on his face, now he could actually tell George that he liked you.
After the hallway incident, he rushed to tell George and Lee, who didn’t believe him; so he saw himself forced to subject to his brother the question if you were in fact, trash or not.
“Lafington?” Ron asked George back
“Isn’t she the girl who is always talking back to Malfoy?” Inquired Harry “You know, the one who is always around the chaser… eh.. Pucey!”
“Yeah! She is! I’ve talked to her in the library, we’re trying to convince McGonagall t…” At that point Fred had stopped listening, he was just happy to prove George and Lee that what he had seen was real, but he wasn’t so happy to hear that you were hanging around with someone as despicable as Adrian Pucey.
A few days later Fred noticed himself paying more attention to you, George did too.
“Just go talk to her”
“And say what? I was walking around the castle and decided to spy on you and Malfoy so now I want to say thank you for looking out for my brother and his friends when I couldn’t?”
“That’s not so bad, actually” George smirked, Fred felt immensely stupid, he couldn’t figure out what was it that he found so difficult about talking to you. “But if you’re not going to do anything, I guess that Adrian Pucey will” With that said, George walked away, making sure to bump into you, he apologized and smiled to you, as he kept walking, he turned to Fred to make sure he was watching, so he decided to seize the opportunity his twin created for him and approached you.
 ...
By the start of your fifth year, you had kind of developed a friendship. You liked the twins, you liked how at the end of last year they had sticked up for you when everyone turned against the Slytherins because of the Chamber of Secrets thing, you grieved the disappearance of their sister and celebrated when she was found, you liked how they didn’t take life too seriously and would always be there to make you smile.
You liked how George would give you sweets when he had any on him, you also liked how much of a good listener he was, he was always there to hear you ramble about astrology, Slytherin’s gossip or a random book you had found at the library, out of the two of them, you were closer to him since Fred always seemed to have a weird face on when you were around, but it didn’t bother you that much, so you paid no mind.  You also liked how both of them didn’t make fun of you when you told them that you liked quidditch even though you didn’t know much about the teams, you liked playing it mostly, not watching.
Fred liked that about you too, so when you told the twins that Pucey was helping you train to try and join the Slytherin team that year, he felt his chest shrunk in relief, you weren’t flirting with Adrian, you were just being mates, after all, Slytherin is the most loyal house, and you all looked out for each other.
You made your way into the team as a chaser, the twins were happy for you, and you were thriving! Quidditch had come sort of therapeutic for you, you loved the rush it brought when you were riding your broom so far from the ground, the sensation of danger when you knew that one the bludgers might hit you, you also loved the idea of getting out in an accepted way the rage that was always boiling inside of you.
Honestly, quidditch was the best thing that could have happened to you, it helped you to finally ditch what was left of your shell, as the season advanced everyone could notice how you were becoming more outspoken, more assertive, more popular; that didn’t mean that you were immune to the dementors watching around the castle, though. You just felt the need to express everything you were feeling, whether it was good or bad. And having those creatures around did affect you, despite to what everyone might have thought, you could be spotted arguing with Malfoy more often, you wouldn’t wait to keep things in the Slytherin common room anymore, you would just explode at any given moment. Professor McGonagall was worried about you, you’d always been one of her favorite students in your year, Snape on the other hand, was watching your character development rather amused, he told McGonagall that it was just matter of time that you actually started behaving like a real Slytherin, to what she refused to believe that he was right, so she decided to take the matters into her own hands.
“Professor, I swear on Merlin’s beard that we haven’t done anything punish-worthy in the last three days” Fred said while he and George sit at Professor McGonagall’s desk.
“Yeah, whatever happened to Filch has nothing to do with us this time” The professor looked at George in confusion to whatever it was that they had done this time, she hadn’t called them in for any of that matters.
“Mr. Weasley” she started “I actually called you and your brother for a different reason this time, although I would very much like to know what you did this time in order to automatically be defending yourselves. I wanted to speak to you about Miss Lafington”
“(Y/n)?” Asked Fred
“Yes, Mr. Weasley. I’ve noticed that you are rather close to her, and well, since she is one of my best students, I feel a little bit concerned about her attitude and mood lately”
This year you didn’t share your favorite classes with Gryffindor, which meant that the twins would often see the more reserved version of you in the classroom when the topic wasn’t of your particular interest, so Fred started to worry a little when Professor McGonagall said that; where you skipping class? Were you failing? He and George sat there in silence.
“Nothing unfixable, I want to assume, so I ask you both to remove that awful look from your faces. My guess is that the presence of the dementors, those terrible creatures, has been affecting your friend, as you may notice, a good portion of your classmates. So, as your head of house, I’m asking you to keep an eye on your friend and one of my dearest students”
“So, you want us to prank her more often” George asked with a smirk on his face.
“Mr. Weasley, please, be serious. I’m asking you to not let these things affect that girl more than they should. I’ve noticed that quidditch has become and outlet for her but it can only last so long, so maybe try getting her out of the dungeons and the aura that surrounds her house for a little bit. Distract her, put some positive thought in her head”
“I understand, Professor” Fred nodded, he felt that McGonagall was overreacting a bit, you all were growing and asserting your characters after all, but he did notice you a little more irritable than usual. “Count on us”
“Good” She concluded “Now, go to class” The twins went for the door and just when they were about to close it “And know that you both have detention today for whatever you did to Mr Filch”
Fred had no idea how to approach you without spilling the conversation he had with Professor McGonagall, so he let George do the wonder while he just kept looking at you from afar as he always had. He didn’t know why, but every day he looked at you, he swore that you looked better than the day before, sure, you had eye bags and looked tired from all the training, but he found you mesmerizing even when you had your hair up in a bun that looked like a bird’s nest. And he could notice all the boys were noticing you, too, now he didn’t only have to worry about Adrian Pucey, no, now he’d also had Lee, who found you extremely badass, Cedric Diggory, who was on the Hufflepuff team and had been asking about you to some of the younger Gryffindor girls, knowing that Fred & George would talk about you in the common room, even Oliver had taken an interest towards you because of how you played; the quidditch boys in general,  he didn’t worry about Marcus Flint, though, he knew that he was too ugly for you.
So he kept his distance, as a friend could, of course. You’d hang out with him and George more often as Fred tried to sort out his feelings for you. Was he still just curious about you? Or had he actually started developing something more than platonic? He knew that you were amazing, and he was glad that people had finally noticed you, but he’d also feel bummed out by that sometimes, he felt that one day you might stop talking to him and George. He worried about what you thought of him, mostly, because he knew that he wasn’t as good friend to you as George was, but it was because he didn’t want you to look at him just as a friend, did he?
Meanwhile, you were enjoying the extra time with the twins, by the end of the school year you had even helped them come up with some ideas for the joke products that they had started designing, you still liked having them around among most of the new people in your life. You felt infuriated when you didn’t win the house cup, Fred reassured you that your game was good, it just was Wood’s last season and no one loved quidditch more than he did. So one week before going on summer holidays, they asked you if you wanted to come to the Quidditch Cup with them and their family, you weren’t sure, so you said that you missed your parents and went home.
During the summer you wrote to both of them, and Fred insisted that you joined them on their trip, but you didn’t want to be a bother, what if you didn’t fit it? What if their parents didn’t like you? What if all of their family hated you because you were a Slytherin? They assured you that you wouldn’t have to worry about a thing, that their mum would love you and their dad would, too.
On the other hand, you were nervous about even asking your own parents, they didn’t hate the Weasleys or any other “blood traitors” in particular, they didn’t care about those things, but they hated drama, that’s why they would keep low profiles and had taught you to do the same. You hanging out with the Weasleys at school? No problem, teens could always be spreading rumors, but you knew that showing up with them at an event like the Quidditch World Cup would be interpreted as an statement, and you knew how delicate things were getting politically, so you obviously felt uneased to say the least, you loved your parents, and you knew the values that they had taught you, but you also were aware of the kind of world were you grew up in, a world where people like the Malfoys would find themselves trying to be pleased by everyone out of fear.
You didn’t respond to the twins for three weeks while you meditated your next move, you were dying to see them, but was that urge stronger than your loyalty to your family?
Turns out your mom had seen you so down that she decided to go around your stuff and found the twins’ letters. When you came home from spending a few days with Abby she welcomed you with the letters in hand at the tea room. “Well, that’s it. It was fun while it lasted” You thought to yourself, but much to your surprise your mother encouraged you to go with them.
“There was only one boy who wrote to me like this, and that boy grew to be the man I married and turned into your dad. -Pay no mind to the blood status- I believe that’s what your father and I have taught you” She said taking her tea cup in hand.
You didn’t know why she was acting like this; they had also taught you to avoid big conflicts, yet, here you were. “Sorry mom, I don’t think I follow”
“Do you know why you feel like standing up to Lucius’ son? Because it is in your blood. During my time at Hogwarts I was friends with some muggleborns, but unlike you, I let myself get carried away by my house peers, don’t make the same mistake, much less when it’s about love” You remained silent after she spoke, you didn’t know where did she get this idea that you loved Fred, because she was talking about Fred, right? He was the one who wrote to you more constantly. “I’ll talk to your father; we’ll discuss it over supper”
Confused was short for how you felt. But at least you’d get to spend some time with some of your best friends, so that night you wrote to Fred that you were, in fact, joining them in a few weeks. You felt your stomach sink the moment your owl left. What if him and George now hated you? What if they thought that you not responding for weeks meant putting an end to your friendship? As these questions wondered your brain, the doubt of why your mom started talking about love came, too. Cause she was talking about Fred, wasn’t she? Why was Fred the one who came to your mind for this matter? Maybe she was talking about George, you were closer to him, essentially. But it was the mystery that drove you back to Fred, because sure, you were friends, but he had that face when you were around, and you also felt that there was this barrier, not in a hostile way, but as an aura of, well, mystery. You knew that he was the one to like you first, George had told you that story about the hallway and you defending Ron, and how Fred basically ran to tell him, yet, you always seemed to feel it odd since Fred was a little distant. At first you thought it was just his personality, you had thought “maybe George is warmer” but you’d often see him hang out with other girls, too. He’d hug Alicia Spinnet and Angelina Johnson, just like George would, but he wouldn’t even let his arm brush yours unless George had started play-fighting and he had to intervene, so you just had thought that maybe he liked you, but he didn’t quite trust you. Until now.
What if your mother was right? What if Fred liked more as more than a friend? You couldn’t even begin to make sense to that idea, you had seen Fred around other girls, he was a master at flirting, he’d swoon them over. The thought of him fancying you didn’t add up to how he treated you, did it? You refused to give your heart false hopes and dismissed those thoughts quickly, you just went to sleep happy to create memories with your friends.
On the other hand, Fred thought that he would spend the most amazing time with you during these holidays, he had even started talking to George about his feelings for you trying to figure them out, but then his father told him that his friend, Amos Diggory and his son would also join the group, at least for the trip, and he felt like cursing the entire world. How could he define what he felt for you when Pretty Boy Diggory would be around? George knew, that Lee knew, that Tori knew because Annabelle had told her, that Cedric was interested in you, he was curious, too. The difference was that Diggory knew that he could charm anyone he wanted, he just had to play his cards right, while Fred couldn’t even begin to admit that he wanted to play his cards too.
You arrived at The Burrow a few days before the Cup, you got to spend time with the Weasleys and even Harry and Hermione, you knew Hermione from your late night study sessions at the library, but you had never actually had a conversation for Harry, you found him rather plain, not in demeaning way, but you could see that this boy had barely an idea of what he represented, he was just like any other boy his age. Molly loved you, even when you found hard to call her that instead of -Mrs. Weasley-, and Ginny liked you too, she liked having another girl who liked quidditch around to play, she was good, you bonded over the game. And she was kind enough to tell you that everyone noticed the small tension that was going on between you and Fred. At first you thought that she was just messing with you, after all, she was the sister of Hogwarts´ most prolific pranksters, but then one night Hermione joined the girl talk, luckily, the subject changed to Ginny’s crush on Harry, but you were left wondering, if people were repeating what your mother said, it might as well be truth, right?
You spent that night thinking about Fred, you liked how he snorted while laughing after a prank he had been planning for long turned out brilliantly, you liked how he would talk you out of pulling an all-nighter to study so you could go wander the castle with him and George. You liked how he would look out for you during the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin matches, much to Oliver’s dismay…
You loved how competitive he was. You loved how before each game he’d tried to place a bet, whether you both were playing or not. You loved how you two would exchange challenging looks from one side to the other of the field. You loved how defensive he got when it came to someone offending you or talking trash to your back. You fell asleep while thinking in all of the things that you loved about this boy, maybe you did have a crush on him…
The next day everyone was super excited, it was the game day, so you all got your bags and started walking into the forest. You were walking with a twin on each side when you saw a man with glasses come up to Arthur and greeted him. You heard Fred sigh and murmur something beneath his breath, but whatever he said was eclipsed by George saying “Now, the fun begins” with a huge devious smile on his face, you didn’t get it. Was this man someone that Arthur didn’t like that much? Were they work frenemies? Then your thoughts were interrupted by something falling from a tree, a someone, actually. Next to the man talking to Arthur was now standing the Hufflepuff’s team captain, Hogwarts’ golden boy: Cedric Diggory. You turned around for a brief second to look at Ginny and Hermione, who you could already see were starting to get a little face-heated from just looking at the boy, you didn’t blame them, every girl at school had a crush on him, and you weren’t the exception, you just were more discrete when it came to showing an opinion, plus you hadn’t been officially introduced to him, sure, you had played against him, but you had never crossed a word, so you felt that showing even the slightest hint of heart eyes for him was inappropriate, plus, now you had come to terms that you liked Fred more than just a friend, right?
He quickly noticed that you were all standing there looking at him so he came up to say hi.
“(Y/N), this is Hufflepuff’s team captain: Cedric Diggory; Cedric, this is (y/N) Lafington, Slytherin’s newest chaser” George introduced you after greeting him.
“Yes, I know exactly who she is” Cedric shook your hand firmly while he answered to George. Fred was silent. “You were the talk of all teams last year, how come no one had noticed you before?”
-Well, I noticed her since our first week at school, thank you-Fred thought to himself.
“I just…” You smiled at Diggory while shrugging your shoulders “I guess I wasn’t that interested in sports before, I’m more of a library mouse, actually”
“Oh, okay, so you’re smart, too. I get it. I like that” Oh Merlin, you liked Fred, but so did you liked having the most eligible man at school looking at you in the way he was.
George was having a blast mentally, he knew Fred was bloody pissed, but he thought that this was for his own good, Fred had to realize that you wouldn’t wait for him forever, so mayyyybe George actually had encouraged Diggory to hit on you. He felt like he was doing his best work as a best friend and as a brother.
During the rest of the walk, Cedric joined you and the twins, you all chatted a bit about school, and when you arrived at the game you went to the girl’s tent. Hermione and Ginny were craving details about Diggory, but you really didn’t have much to give them. Later, when you went looking for the twins, you didn’t find them, Cedric found you, though. You decided to take a walk around with him, while you were talking you got to know him a little better, he was a good guy; you picked up that the flirty smiles and eyes between you two were just denial when he mentioned Cho Chang, Ravenclaw’s seeker. This boy didn’t want to admit that his playboy days were over, you thought that was funny. Yeah, you still had a crush on him, but you realized that it was a platonic thing, you liked Cedric, as a friend.
After placing a bet with Ludo Bagman, Fred had gone back looking for you, when he saw you laughing along with Diggory he felt his stomach shrink and the bile rising through his chest to his throat, maybe Angelina was right, maybe you knew that he liked you but you just chose to ignore him, but he also George’s voice came to his head in your defense, how could you even begin to imagine what he felt for you when he could barely look you in the eye? Those beautiful (y/e/c) eyes. He took a deep breath and approached you, telling you that it was time to go to your seats, you said goodbye to Cedric and followed Fred.
“So…” You started while trying to keep with him “I was hoping that you could tell me a little bit about the teams that will be playing tonight…”
“Didn’t Diggory tell you any of that? Or was he just trying to get in your pants?” You stood completely frozen at what he had just said, Fred had never said anything mean to you, in fact, he’d go after anyone who mistreated you.
“Excuse me?” Was the one thing that you managed to express. Fred turned back to look at you and he crumbled a little on the inside when he saw the hurt in your eyes, the shock, he thought how cute you looked with your eyebrows furrowed like that, but he quickly realized that he had fucked up.
“Oh… I-…” He didn’t know how to apologize; he wasn’t used to get carried away by his emotions in that way. You didn’t say anything, you stood there maintaining eye contact, you were waiting for a proper apology. “Look, I’m sorry, that came out in a completely wrong way” He waited for a response but you gave him nothing “Fine” he sighed and walked over closer to you “I’m sorry, I really am” Nothing. “Hey, Lafts, I’m now begging for your forgiveness” He used your nickname, which you felt relaxed your forehead. “Pleeeaaaase…” In that moment you felt him taking your hand and putting to his mouth to kiss it while giving you puppy eyes.
“Okay, I accept your apology” You said with a small smile in return, and taking your hand away from his. “But what in hell has gotten into you?” You asked as you started walking again.
“I just don’t like that he thinks that he can have you that easily, I don’t want you to get hurt by one of the most famous playboys at school. That’s it” Fred knew that he had to be cautious about what he said, he didn’t want to sound like a complete lunatic, but he also didn’t want to confess his feelings for you in the middle of the scenario that you were standing right now in.
You also didn’t want to keep going with this fight, so you accepted his excuse and kept going, even though on the inside you were still upset about him talking to you that way. When you arrived at your seats you placed yourself between Ginny and George, avoiding Fred. George resumed the season to you before the game started, you saw Draco and his dad, who offered you joining them in the box, but you refused politely with a simple “Thank you Mr. Malfoy, but I’ll stay with my friends for this once” which made everyone look at you with inquire, you explained that Lucius Malfoy was one of your father’s oldest business partners, so it was better to keep things light with him, Draco was different story; that last part relaxed the tension and made everyone laughed.
During the game you could occasionally feel Fred’s gaze on you, you’d sometimes look back, letting him know that you weren’t angry, but still you didn’t want to engage a conversation with him yet.
You had a good time, even though you still liked playing better than just watching, the twins and Ginny were really happy that Ireland had won. After you exited the stadium Arthur told everyone that you’d have dinner an hour later, so you returned calmly to the tents, while you were walking you started hearing people screaming and some even running, you looked at the twins but they were just as confused as you.
“Spread!” Arthur yelled at you “Spread! Hide! Fred, George, watch your sister” at a not so long distance you could see people with some weird masks marching forward and destroying the tents around, then it hit you.
“Death Eathers” you barely mumbled. You turned to see Harry, Ron and Hermione already running “Go” you said firmly now to the twins, you pushed them and Ginny in the opposite direction where the Death Eaters came. “Go. They won’t hurt me. At least I think so, go, hide, protect Ginny” George nodded and took Ginny by the hand, the started walking.
“Oi!” Fred called them, but they didn’t listen, he turned to you, and grabbed you by the arm “I’m not leaving you here, let’s go”
“No, Fred. You’re a blood traitor” you got rid of his grip
“So are you!”
“Yes, but my family never talks about this publicly, no one knows. I won’t put them at risk” You knew that the words were hurting him, but he knew that it was truth, your parents’ business depended on them remaining neutral, no one really knew about your family’s blood status views unless they were close to you. “Look, Fred” You could hear the chaos closer and closer “You know I love you guys, and you know I value your friendship, but right now I really need you to go and look for George and Ginny, I can take care of myself” Just like he did with you a few hours earlier, you could see the hurt in his eyes, you knew your mother liked him from the letters, but you couldn’t bare the idea of putting her in danger for a simple crush. “I promise I’ll look for you guys when this is over, I’ll go help your dad” You kissed his hand and pushed him away “GO!”
You barely could see him running away because you turned around and started casting transfiguration spells on yourself, if you were getting into this fight, you’d make sure that no one behind those masks could recognize you.
When the dark mark was casted onto the sky, the Death Eaters started vanishing, everyone remained shook, when you made sure that none remained there, you started waking back to the party’s tent, there you returned your appearance back to normal, when you came out you saw Arthur returning, he recognized the clothes you were wearing and hugged you. “Thank you” he said as soon as you broke apart, you put your hand on top of his on your shoulder “No problem, Mr. Weasley. I just wish I could have done it without wasting time putting a costume on”
“You helped innocent people, and that should be enough” He gave you and honest smile and went inside the tent. Later when everyone had returned, you all returned to The Burrow, where you all were warmly welcomed by a worried Molly Weasley, who had heard everything from the news.
“Oh, dear, I assume your parents must be worried about you, you should write to them” She said to you as soon as she had the chance, and you agreed, so you thought that the best was to return home the next day.
Your parents weren’t that worried about you, actually, they knew that you were a fighter, but they did look worried about how thing would start changing from here on in, you told them that you made yourself unrecognizable when the Death Eaters showed up, which your father thanked you.
Over the next few weeks you wrote to the twins and your other friends, you even exchanged letters with Cedric Diggory (to whom George had felt the freedom to give your address) You just wanted to go back to Hogwarts and get away from all of the political problems going on, you wanted to go back to normal, where you could actually be you and give zero shits about blood status, you couldn’t wait enough for your 17th birthday, the day your freedom would came; if you were seventeen your parents would get excluded from all of your personal decisions. But for now, you could just keep on dreaming.
During the first week of class of your sixth year, you looked for the twins, they greeted you with the warmest of hugs, especially Fred (which surprised you) and you offered them an apology for bringing up the blood thing the day of the game, they were really understanding.
“Don’t worry, dad was amazed at how feisty you turned out to be, he didn’t see it coming, he snitched on you with us” George words made you giggle “Changing your looks to kick ass? That’s clever”
“Yeah, maybe you could help us perfect those spells so Snape and Filch can’t know who came for them” Fred added with a wink.
That same week you learned that this year you wouldn’t have quidditch because Hogwarts would be hosting the Triwizard Tournament, those were terrible news for you, but still, you felt excited about having exchange students over, and the twins had the idea that you could still play quidditch on your free time during the weekends, it wouldn’t be the same, but you were okay with it.
Fred wouldn’t admit it, but he really wanted you to accept the idea of weekend quidditch, because that was the first step on his plan to conquer you. When he heard his dad speaking so highly of you, he was certain that he was totally in love with you, the fear of losing you that he felt the day before, the way he reacted when he saw that Cedric could make you laugh too; the way his tummy felt when you kissed his hand, the way he suffered every minute while he hid knowing nothing of you and dreading the worst, he scolded himself mentally for letting you go, he should’ve gone with you, he shouldn’t have left you alone in a situation like that; All of that made  sudden sense to him while his father kept telling the story, he didn’t just have a crush on you, he wasn´t just curious, he was head over heels in love with you. So he asked for Charlie’s advice, and he designed a plan to ask you out  s u a v e m e n t e, the original plan involved hanging out after quidditch practice, so when quidditch got cancelled he had to improvise. He also had an advantage this year, you guys shared Potions class, which Fred knew was one of your favorites, so he would be able to talk to you during class because of Snape’s favoritisms towards Slytherins.
The weeks passed and you started noticing how George would always disappear when the tree of you were supposed to hang out, leaving you alone with Fred, you didn’t mind, you loved the way his red hair would look at night with the dim lights of the castle at night, and he loved the way your eyes lit up when you looked at the stars. Truth is that you two were getting closer, closer than friends, none of you said a thing about it, but you both could feel the connection growing. When the Yule Ball was announced you were sure that Fred would ask you to be his date, so you and Abby went dress shopping, she really didn’t like the idea of you getting with a Gryffindor, much less a Weasley, but she was happy that you had someone just like she had her Durmstrang student.
When you got to the shop Hogsmead and started looking at the fabrics, you noticed that other girls were already there, between them you could notice the girls of Gryffindor’s quidditch team, you paid no mind to them nor to their whispers and dirty looks. Abby went away for a moment to try on a dress that she liked, when she came back she had an annoyed look on her face.
“You didn’t like it?” You thought it was the dress “You know that’s just the sample one, they can make it for you in a different color”
“It’s not that” she said, putting the dress back “I liked the dress”
“Then why the face?”
“Look” she started “I know that you like the Weasley boy, much to the house’s dismay, and I’m trying (y/n), I’m really trying to keep my nose out of this because I like seeing you happy” she paused for a second before going, you could see that her mind was working trying to say something.
“Abby, it’s okay, I can take it” What could it be? Had he gotten in a fight with Adrian again?
“When I was in the changing room I could hear Angelina Jhonson talking about how excited she was to be attending the ball with Frederick”
“Well, that’s a shame for her, he’s going to ask me”
“That’s the thing Lafts, he asked her already, not you, her.” You could see that Abby was trying to hold it together, she was quite protective of you, but you did recognize that she was trying to not hate Fred. “I know it sounds terrible and I don’t know, maybe those twits are tryin’ to play mind games on us, but you should definitely check that out; I don’t want this night that we’ll probably remember forever to be ruined for you by some stupid scumsucker”
You were speechless, you didn’t know what to say, you were certain that Abigail wasn’t fond of the twins, but you also knew that she just wouldn’t lie about it, so when she had her order on her dress made, you two returned to the castle.
That night at dinner you had a hard time spotting Fred at the Great Hall, you also had a hard time spotting him anywhere in the castle, when you went to George for answers he responded with a simple “Love you both, I’ve done plenty trying to help Fred. I’m not getting in the middle of this mess” And walked away, which left you feeling even more confused and angry than before, why were they shutting you down? You wrote to your mom to know if anything big had happened outside the school, but she said nothing had really came up. You were left with nothing, the next few days George made sure to let you know that he was still there for you, but he drew the line when it came to talking about Fred. Something inside of you said “See? You were right, Fred didn’t really like you, it was all in your head; if not, then how come only George is here now?” And you didn’t want to give this voice the reason, but it was the only thing in your mind.
The days passed and the ball came, you ended up attending it with Adrian, after all, you and him were really good friends. You were having a great time with your friends, you even danced a piece with Cedric, then George came to you, too. Fred remained far away, you could see him on the dance floor with Angelina, as Abby said; you felt your heart break a little more every time you looked at him, you were angry at him, but you were also angry at yourself, how could you had let yourself think for a minute that someone like him could fall in love with you? You were opposites, and everyone knew it, and everyone made sure you were reminded of it at all times. A slow song came on and Adrian said to you that he would try to dance with some girl from Beauxbatons, so you went to sit down for a bit. You watched all the couples dancing with a bit of longing, you saw that Ginny was there with a boy and you felt your heart melt for a moment, not everyone was having a rough night.
“Not having fun?” You heard George’s voice behind you.
“Eh” you shrugged your shoulders “I’ve been better” you turned your head to look at him.
“Well” He hunched over to be at your level “I see Pucey dancing with someone and my date blew me off too, wanna go wreck someone’s make out session?” That last part with wiggling eyebrows. He made you chuckle.
“Fine” You said rolling your eyes. You took your clutch and followed him through the hallways, you walked quietly, trying to spot any couple to scare. Suddenly George came to a stop in front of a door. You looked at him with questioning eyes, he nodded, letting you know that there was someone in there.
“You go first” He whispered. You smiled, excited. You got your wand ready. When George opened the door, you pointed your wand but before you could say anything you were surprised by Fred Weasley standing in front of you. Well, he was actually pacing, but still, he was in front of you. You turned to George.
“I thought you said t-“
“I know what I said” He cut you off. “But I’m doing this for you, not for him” He looked at both of you before closing the door and leaving you there.
You stood there in silence for a couple of minutes, you didn’t even want to look at him, you were hurt.
“So, I saw you dancing with Diggory…”Fred finally broke the silence.
“Really? Are you seriously bringing that up?” You decided to look at him and when your eyes met you felt the world freeze. You stared at each other. Fred had been watching you from afar, too. But now that he had you close, he was taken out of breath of how good you looked. The way your dress made your skin pop, the way your eyes were glowing thanks to the make-up, he could also see the lip gloss that you had been reapplying all night.
“Fred?” Your voice brought him back from his mind. “You know what? I don’t even know why I decided to stay, I should’ve left with George” You headed for the door but he quickly got up and stood before you.
“No. You know why” You got chills, you didn’t know if they came from the cold of the classroom you where standing in or from the look in his eyes. He took off his jacket and tried to covered you with it.
“No” You said stepping back and putting your hand in front of you. “You don’t get to play prince charming with me, not after you ignored me for a month… Why did you do it..?”
Fred didn’t know what to say, he knew that the moment to confess his feelings to you had arrived, but he felt too dumb to say something.
“You know Fred? If you didn’t like me you could’ve just been straight forward about it.” You started talking trying to keep your voice neutral. “You didn’t have to pretend to be my friend all these years, the worst part of it is that these last few months I felt like something beyond a friendship was growing between us” That was it, you gulped, your voice broke “You didn’t have to make me fall in love with you and then break my heart” Fred rose his head. You crossed your arms over your chest trying to keep all your feelings in.
“Wait a second, love, rewind a little bit there” He was in shock, he walked towards you. “You’re in love with me?” You could hear the surprise in his voice. Was he now laughing at you?
“You’re impossible, Weasley” You headed for the door again, but Fred grabbed your arm and pulled you to him. “Let m-“ You felt his lips crash on yours, shutting you up. You responded to his kiss, you could sense desperation in it.
“I’ve liked you since our first year” He said when you finally broke away “I’ve always felt keen on you. I love you. I shut you out because I was too scared of my own feelings, I’ve never felt this way for anyone else. I figured out that if I just cutyou off, all the feelings would go away, but they didn’t.” You looked at him mouth-opened, not knowing what to say, you both had been feeling this way but you were too scared to admit it.
“You’re an idiot” You finally managed to say. He kissed you again.
“Yes, I am, I am the biggest idiot ever” Kiss “but please say you won’t pay mind to the all the bloody talking and you’ll be my official girlfriend” He pecked you on the lips again.
“Yes, yes, okay” You laughed.
You stood there for a while, laughing at how obnoxious you both had been the last few years. You were in love with Fred, and Fred was in love with you. You weren’t waiting for you 17th birthday anymore, you were making up for all the lost time, everyone else could go to hell.

The Isle Of The Lost
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Twenty years ago, all the evil villains were banished from the kingdom of Auradon and made to live in virtual imprisonment on the Isle of the Lost. The island is surrounded by a magical force field that keeps the villains and their descendants safely locked up and away from the mainland. Life on the island is dark and dreary. It is a dirty, decrepit place that's been left to rot and forgotten by the world.
But hidden in the mysterious Forbidden Fortress is a dragon's eye: the key to true darkness and the villains' only hope of escape. Only the cleverest, evilest, nastiest little villain can find it...who will it be?
Maleficent, Mistress of the Dark: As the self-proclaimed ruler of the isle, Maleficent has no tolerance for anything less than pure evil. She has little time for her subjects, who have still not mastered life without magic. Her only concern is getting off the Isle of the Lost.
Mal: At sixteen, Maleficent's daughter is the most talented student at Dragon Hall, best known for her evil schemes. And when she hears about the dragon's eye, Mal thinks this could be her chance to prove herself as the cruelest of them all.
Evie: Having been castle-schooled for years, Evil Queen's daughter, Evie, doesn't know the ins and outs of Dragon Hall. But she's a quick study, especially after she falls for one too many of Mal's little tricks.
Jay: As the son of Jafar, Jay is a boy of many talents: stealing and lying to name a few. Jay and Mal have been frenemies forever and he's not about to miss out on the hunt for the dragon's eye.
Carlos: Cruella de Vil's son may not be bravest, but he's certainly clever. Carlos's inventions may be the missing piece in locating the dragon's eye and ending the banishment for good.
Mal soon learns from her mother that the dragon's eye is cursed and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She'll just need a little help from her "friends." In their quest for the dragon's eye, these kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain't so bad.
Title: The Isle of the Lost Series: Descendants Author: Melissa de la Cruz ISBN: 1484720970 (ISBN13: 9781484720974) Pages:  311  pages (Hardcover) Published: May 5th 2015 by Disney-Hyperion Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Middle Grade, Children, Adventure
My interest in this novel was thanks to initially seeing advertisements for the first made-for-television Disney movie, The Descendants, which, much like the book here, focuses on the offspring of four of the most notorious neer-do-wells in the Disney universe. (And, as a sidebar, the movie is honestly good, clean fun! I know I’m not in the target audience for it but I really did enjoy it, and the songs are super-catchy.)
Overall, I found The Isle of the Lost to be a speedy, entertaining read. Plot-wise, the novel focuses on and fleshes out the lives of four young antiheros: Mal, daughter of the evil fairy Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty; Evie, daughter of the vain Evil Queen from Snow White; Jay, son of the wizard Jafar from Aladdin; and Carlos, son of puppy-hatin’ Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians. These four teens, their parents, and others like them (read: villains) have been eternally banished to the Isle of the Lost by edict of King Beast (from Beauty and the Beast) who rules the United States of Auradon. As far as the four leads are concerned, they aspire to be as bad as their parents, but they’ve not quite earned their proverbial stripes.
I really enjoyed the character dynamics here, which is what caused me to bump this up from three-stars to four-stars. Even though this is a fantasy story, the teens have to contend with making their parents proud (something that’s a part of growing up even in the real world). Mal struggles most of all as her mother rules the Isle; Evie hopes to maintain her mother’s high standards of outer beauty; Jay is determined to be the best thief on the Isle; and Carlos, who is an inventor at heart, struggles with his fur-loving mom and her demanding ways.
Even though these kids are the flesh and blood of notorious folks, I called them antiheroes for a reason. They’re not do-gooders by nature, so the titles of “hero” and “heroine” don’t fit. On the other hand, these kids aren’t full of cold-blooded, black-hearted evil either, so they don’t qualify as true villains. Instead, they’re antiheroes – figures who are neither consistently moral nor abjectly immoral and who make good, moral choices at times. The best instances of this arrive in the book’s latter half where the gang seeks out the Dragon’s Eye, a magical artifact that will cement Maleficent’s power. Even though from the start Mal acts like this is all about her, her attitude changes and she shows that she’s not entirely like her mom in a good way. As a whole, while there is some teenage drama here (something I cringe at if it happens too much), it’s not all-encompassing as the story focuses more on developing the lead characters as individuals, not having them constantly squabble or wallow in angst.
Overall, character-wise, this is a fun romp, and long-time fans of Disney will be pleased with the incorporation of many familiar faces, from the members of King Beast and Queen Belle’s court to the denizens on the Isle. The author clearly knows her Disney neer-do-wells and presents them in a light that, much like a Disney film, doesn’t negate the fact that they’re not heroes but doesn’t make them psychotic and bloodthirsty either.
As stated, the characters saved this from being a three-star read for me. Writing-wise, this novel is a simple, quick read for adults, but at times, it’s almost a little too simplistic though it manages not to insult an adult reader’s intelligence and, to be fair, this wasn’t penned with grownups in mind anyway. That being said, the best audience for this novel would be pre-teens and young teens (i.e. ages 10 to 15). Anyone younger probably won’t appreciate the character dynamics and/or Disney villain line-up (as they might be too young to be familiar with much of the canon), and anyone older than 16 might not be attracted to the novel’s delivery. However, I, an adult reader, liked it enough to keep it on my bookshelf and I’d definitely read any related books if this happens to become a series. It definitely has potential and I’d love to read more.
Content-wise, this is a very age-appropriate novel for its chief audience. There essentially is no profanity aside from some invented words and a PG-level word here or there, but the occurrence is so sporadic, if you blinked you’d miss them. There really is no violence other than some nasty (but overall harmless) pranks some of the villains pull. Lastly, there is no sexual content of any kind and the interactions Mal and Evie have with Jay and Carlos are chaste and appropriate for their characters’ ages. Overall, parents and guardians should have nothing to fear in handing this novel off to their Disney-loving pre-teen or teen (though I always encourage parents and guardians to read books first as everyone has a different spectrum for gauging appropriateness for various ages).
In the end, The Isle of the Lost is a fun, frothy read with colorful characters and plenty of potential for future adventures. While the writing itself can be a bit too breezy in terms of simplicity, it works as a vehicle to carry the plot and characters. For pre-teens and young teens, this is a treat; and adult readers can enjoy it, too, for its homage to some of Disney’s best of the worst.

Character you want?
Tiffani Belle
Please describe the character for us
Baseball caps and glitter. Those were the words to describe Tiffani Belle as she was growing up. Born to a well-off family, Tiffani was the only girl her age growing up in her neighborhood. The boys all gave her the nickname Tink, because she was the tiniest of their playdate crew. The tiny blonde swelled with pride, and quickly had every single one of them wrapped around her little finger. She could get down and dirty with the rest of them, but she knew that being a girl made her special. She spent her childhood days fixing her friends’ bicycles, collecting grass stains on her clothes, and convincing all the boys that because they were friends, she should be their first kiss. (Somewhere in her childhood bedroom, she still has the contract they drafted on that day in first grade when the boys lined up to peck their lips against Tiffani’s.)
Tiffani took to the role of leader quickly. It wasn’t necessarily a control thing, but Tiffani liked to be in charge, and she really liked for things to go her way. She was headstrong from childhood onward, more than willing to use her leadership skills and stubbornness to fight for what she believed in – whether that be later bedtimes with mom and dad, or returning tater tots to the elementary school lunch menu. They were a kid favorite, potatoes were good for you and ketchup was technically a vegetable, and they deserved to be eaten!
Getting to high school wasn’t much different for Tink. Now she was a little fish in a big pond, but being small had never held Tink back before. Tiffani made sure to make her name known early on in her high school year. As the weather was getting warmer, Tink stood on top of the cafeteria table, white tennis shoes squeaking against the plastic table top, mini skirt almost dangerously short from that angle, and demanded students be allowed to eat their lunches outside. They had gorgeous weather half the school year, it was their right to be able to enjoy the outdoors, and their medical need to soak up the Vitamin D. Administration caved, and Tink was class president for two years after that.
But the older she got, the lonelier Tink became at the top. The girls all wanted to be her, and the boys all wanted to date her. Well, the ones that mattered anyway. But as the years went by, the more Tink became a leader and the boss, and the less she had any actual friends.
Fairy wings and pixie dust. That was when everything started to change. Puberty for Tiffani had started on the early side. She took it in stride, loving to be first in everything. She was the first in her grade with boobs (small as they may have been at the time) and she flaunted her period to her classmates because they were still girls but now she was a woman. What Tink wasn’t prepared for was the pain that started in her shoulders one evening. She’d spent the day with some of the boys switching between doing pushups and sitting on top of them while they did pushups. Tink loved to show them up whenever she can, reminding them that just because she was small and a girl didn’t mean that she couldn’t do just as many reps as they could. So she’d thought nothing of the pain, writing it off as having pushed her body a bit too far that day. But the pain didn’t dissipate, and it was a few days later that she saw them: iridescent wings starting to poke from her shoulder blades. The oddities multiplied from there. Tink didn’t know anything about what was happening (she knew how to use the internet, she’d figure some things out), but she knew that she couldn’t tell anyone. Not if she was going to stay on top. So the top became even lonelier.
Meeting Pippin Pan changed everything. He transferred to her school, and Tink saw something in him. Saw that he was a leader and an adventurer like herself, and to top it off, Pippin wasn’t immediately intimidated by her. In fact, she was sure that he saw an equal in Tink just as she saw him as an equal to her. The two became attached at the hip, a couple of teenagers at the top, and Tiffani would do anything for Pippin. Anything. He was the first person she told about her abilities, and he was the first person Tiffani had any real romantic feelings for. He made her heart race, and she was ready to see what was on the opposite end of their friendship.
Turns out the only thing there was disappointment. When the Darlings came to town, Pippin became fascinated with them. So naturally Tink hated them. She hated Wendy, she hated Jane, she hated that Pippin wanted anything to do with them at all, and she hated that she still needed Pippin as her best friend and her right hand. She hated that she’d shared her secrets and her heart with him, and he dared to care about anyone other than her. Green had always been a good color for Tiffani, it really brought out her eyes, but jealousy consumed the girl and their relationship never truly recovered.
Soon after she met Hook, and Tink was no longer concerned with friendship or Pippin or being a leader. What had leadership gotten her? After all these years? No, true leadership would come later. Tiffani Belle would take the world by storm one day, but Hook new about revenge. Hook stirred a darkness within her, growing out of that jealousy, his silver tongue and clever words working their way into Tink’s heart and mind. He could help her get Pippin back, and everything would go back to normal. But the blonde might’ve been in too deep. She connected with Hook in a way she’d never connected with anyone before, told him all of her secrets, gave him all of herself; he listened, was a comforting presence, and give Tink the push she needed to make sure stupid Wendy Darling was out of the way and Pippin would be hers again.
But the prank went too far, the Darlings wound up in the hospital, and something about that night opened Tiffani’s eyes. She was alone again, but that old spark – the one that was there before boys and feelings became involved – was ignited once more. Of course, everything had changed. She could never go back to the girl she was, not if she stayed. She told her parents everything, her entire side of the story, and even she couldn’t bring herself to argue when the decided to ship her off to Walt.
Second character choice
n/a (but I may also have plans for Honey Lemon and the return of one Rita Holden)
It’s time to see that sample para.
cw: pixie dust related flying/broken bones accident
Perfect. Everything was perfect. And then those stupid Darling children came along and ruined it.
What did Wendy Darling have that Tiffani didn’t? Tink had power, popularity, imperfection. Tink had magic: she could fly, she could shrink, her pixie dust could make Pippin fly too. But perfect little birdy Wendy Darling came along and none of that mattered anymore. She didn’t matter anymore.
Well fuck them. Tink had found a new companion and new friendship in James Hook. With him she didn’t need to be a leader anymore. She could follow and learn and love him instead. Not real love, of course. Real love was bullshit that got her nothing and nowhere. When she was eventually back on top again, with the Darlings out of the way, love would be an emotion she would let nowhere near her tiny body. The wasn’t room anymore for love. Just like there wasn’t room for the Darlings.
It had been Hook’s idea, but Tiffani had latched on to his scheme, and now the time had come. He’d been able to get close to the Darlings in a way that Tink had been loath to do. She admired him for that, for his ability to hide that side of him in order to move forward with revenge. I would be harmless enough, just a simple scare to put the darling Wendy bird in her place. She wasn’t god’s gift to mankind, yet somehow she’d made Pippin think she was.
Digging through her closet, Tinkerbell pulled out the bit of pixie dust she’d been saving. She’d only ever used this on two other people before: Pippin and then Hook; but now she’d secretly use it on the Darlings, too.
She met up with Hook on the edge of town. The Darlings would be meeting him soon, then Tink would take care of the magic, and he would take care of the rest. Before she shrunk to fairy size, Hook’s hands pulled the tiny blonde in to him for a kiss, rough and raw and fiery and full of passion, striking the heat in Tink’s body that rose every time he did that. Who needed love and romance when there were people like hook who were so sexy and free of attachment?
Hidden from view, when the Darlings arrived and Hook started sewing his side of the plan, Tiffani silently sprinkled her pixie dust on their shoulders.
—What? —No—Hook wasn’t supposed to tell them how it worked. They were supposed to be shocked when they suddenly found themselves flying. A shock that would turn their lives around the way Tink’s wings had turned around hers.
Rage flared in Tink’s tiny fairy body, and she flittered toward Hook at a moment when the Darlings had turned away, but he flicked her away with a wave of his hand, and Tiffani darted to the ground as she tried to regain control of her wings. Too late she did, and she skid along the ground, crossing her arms in anger and disbelief. But she couldn’t revel in those feelings for too long, because then Hook was leading them away, and Tiffani would be damned if she let herself get left behind, now that Hook had screwed everything up. He was just like Pippin, dumping her for Wendy, and using her magic to garner Wendy’s praises.
She doesn’t like to think too often about the in between; about the events that lead to what happened next. But suddenly the Darlings were flying. Except they weren’t flying, they were falling. Falling from too many stories high. That wasn’t right, Tink’s pixie dust was fail proof. Perhaps it had worn off? She may have hated Wendy Darling, but she wasn’t in the murder business. Another sprinkling would do the trick. Reaching into her pocket, Tiffani withdrew her bag of pixie dust.
Pixie dust that wasn’t pixie dust.
Too late she realized that Hook had switched the bag, pulled her in for a kiss, wrapped his arms around her waist, and replaced her precious pixie dust (which was very much a part of her) with something else. And she could only stare in horror as the first bone cracked.
Anything else, love?

!!!!! Thank you! I love having a chance to talk about my OCs~
I didn’t know who to gush over so I rolled a dice and got Sai, my skinwalker witch.
About Sai: Sai is one of my youngest Pathfinder characters, at around 18-19. She’s a bloodmarked skinwalker, which is basically a werebat. She was abandoned in the woods as a child when she accidentally went into her werebat form for the first time in front of her brother. A hag found her on the night of one of the god Nethys’ holidays, specifically a day on which magic users take on apprentices. The hag recognized the little girl’s unique blood, and decided this was a sign for Nethys that the girl would be a powerful magic user that the hag could direct as she pleased. She stole the girl’s True Name and gave her the name Sai Gwenn, taking her childhood memories and erasing the memory of her from her human family so no one would come looking for her.
Sai then spent her childhood and young teen years learning magic and witchcraft from her ‘Mamma’, who was a strict teacher who grew disappointed over the years that the young girl didn’t show any particularly strong penchant for magic. Sai was extremely good at book learning, but struggled in application. Sai eventually ran away when Mamma tried to have her sacrifice a boy from the village as a shortcut to power.
She began traveling, using her ability to speak with animals to survive the journey across the continent. She finally got up the courage to enter a human village, despite being taught all her life that she was a monster and that humans would shun or attack her if they knew what she was. This village was holding a carnival where she met a group of adventurers she’s now grown close with after they worked together to solve a murder.
Fun facts:
Sai collects random items on her adventures, especially damaged toys. She has a doll some kids cut the head off of, which she fixed and named Nikki, and a tiger stuffed animal which didn’t have eyes which she added button eyes to.
Sai is a carnivore, she only eats meat, period. However she keeps a number of fruits on her, because her familiar Luka (or ‘little sister’ as Sai usually calls her) is a fruit bat.
Sai has terrible fashion taste. She wears a large tattered black jacket which she’s had since before she ran away, and which she’s since modified by adding ‘raven feathers’ to the neckline (actually chicken feathers dyed black). She also took an owlbear’s skull and had it turned into a bedazzled helmet.
Sai had extremely long unruly hair that she probably hadn’t ever cut since she was a kid. See: living in the woods with a hag for a mother figure. She’s since shaved her head. Long story short, a woman who was a warrior from a clan the party fought alongside showed interest in spending the night with Sai, but only if she’d shave her head in the style of the other warriors. The party’s sorcerer Icarus helped talk her into agreeing.
Sai’s natural hair color was black, but it’s been magically changed to midnight blue by a defective magic ring.
Sai has started to get younger sibling energy as she’s become more confident, and enjoys pulling harmless pranks. She scared someone in a library while invisible by pretending to be a ghost, and she gave Icarus the ring that changes his hair color every time it’s activated.
Speaking of Icarus? Sai was initially very jealous and threatened when he joined the party since she was no longer the only magic user (not counting their cleric because in Sai’s own words ‘that doesn’t count, your god *gives* you magic’.) The fact he was human, born with magic, smart despite not having to work for his magic, and royalty didn’t help with her feelings of inadequacy. She’s since become friends with him for a few reasons: A, she saved him from dying from reading a magic text that hypnotized him (so he must not be THAT much better than her), B, despite herself she enjoys having someone to talk to who actually knows about magic, and C, they have mlm/wlw solidarity
Sai is especially close to the assassin Hayden, who is...less than morally sound. Initially Sai liked Hayden because he was the only one who didn’t talk down to her or treat her like a child. Over time she came to realize that she liked Hayden because he felt like a brother to her, although she wasn’t sure why she’d think that when she’s never had a sibling. For his part, Hayden was initially manipulating Sai, seeing her as a useful asset with her magic. Hayden ended up catching feelings and became protective of Sai, and around the same time he discovered he had an actual sister who was in danger he also began to treat Sai as a surrogate sister. Ironically in their found family Hayden insists on seeing Sai as the older sister and himself being the younger brother, which Sai is fine with since she’s fiercely protective of her ‘little brother’.
Sai has a liiiiiittle bit of a cruel streak when people she cares about get hurt. When their half-orc fighter Orda was (temporarily) killed, Sai trapped the killer in the form of an insect and stuck him in a jar, while he was still entirely sapient and aware of his situation. When Orda came back she no longer had reason to take further revenge on him, so she let the insect loose in the wild to live or die as nature allows.

👫 ft. saizo KJNHM
bHey guess what you asked for saizo but youre getting like everyone
Knock of Sasuke Saizo
Lol I like to bully him,
His is funny because it’s so completely one sided right now, if only slowly pulling results. But lets see what I can do with the local tsundere ninja, as the company liked to call him
Maya and Saizo are two complete opposite souls pulled together by circumstance. Maya is overbearing, fun loving and silly. Shes finally out in the real world and poor Saizo has to pull on reigns to keep her from doing anything too crazy. That’s already a big job for most people but for someone like him? Well it’s easy to see how their relationship got to how it is.
But Mayas genuineness does indeed begin to wear him down. She goes out of his way for him. After all, job or not, he’s still risking his life for her and she wants to do what she can for him even when he’s being a huge meanie! The more he tells her it’s impossible for htem to be friends the more of a challenge she takes it as. And she wont stop until theyre best buddies!
I like to imagine a scene where someone is trying to kill saizo who can barely move from the fight and Maya stands in between them. The person cant kill the kurain master because shes useful so they at least try to fight her enough to deter her but she keeps getting back up.And shes getting in really bad shape, she can barely stand but she still pulls herself in front of saizo. Like yes she’s weak, yes she doesnt know the firs tthing about fighting but she will NOT let anything happen to him if she can still move. Of course in the last second the cavalry comes. and Saizo probs gives her a thorough scolding.
Now for some fun hcs!
Maya ends up trying to learn how to defend herself and to his surprise she actually has an aptitude for the sword. Something no one saw coming and something only a trained ninja could even recognize. She’s not so good with her feet so it’s kind of hard to tell for most people. She also has good instincts and after quite a bit of time, He actually gets her to be pretty good! The two can gave some good fights, tho of course Saizo still dwarfs her but Maya has fun fighitng him. YOU CAN BET that once she starts getting some level of good she’d try sneak attacking him. It wields some painful results at first, but after  bit he becomes able to send her presence specifically so she doesn’t get as hurt. The first time she genuinely is able to sneak up on him she’s so proud of herself. That is, if that happens. But it’d be cool if it did.
Sakuhito
So I hc that Maya ends up finding out about sakuhito the same way it goes in the prologue. Though it takes longer after meeting them for her to revea that. She kind of plays around with sakuhito for a bit. She’ll muses loudly like ‘huh thats funny thats different from what you told me before. Thats sooo strange. Whats going on here,’ she sees him sweat and desperately try to cover it up for a bit  before kind of letting him off the hook and shrugging like ‘ah well must be my imagination. anyway!’ and changes the subject quickly. One day shes finally like ‘so who are you? cause its definitely not the emperorer’
She gets what it’s like to be in big positions of power so she plays with him a lot. Tries to get him to loosen up. This mostly takes the form of her playing little harmless pranks on him. Something to make him smile. As well as give her a good laugh. You can bet she sets up a banana peel in front of him. It’s all in good harm and nothing harmful and nothing that would put his position in danger
When theyre alone Maya teaches him fun kid things. She excitedly recounts all sorts of fun tales she’s heard, complete with reenacments that sometimes gets herself hurt during the action scenes, sometimes sakuhito. She doesnt care. Maya is probably alot more daring around him than anyone should be allowed to be in front of the emperor but it always works to her favor. All she wants is to get his mind off all the big heavy stuff he has to deal with in the outside world. When theyre together in her room, she wants him to just feel like sakuhito.
I feel like this might result in him feeling the need to distance himself because she ends up being able to tear his mask off a lot easier than she should be able to. And he has a job to do. He cant let anyone know of his presence but maya is absolutely RELENTLESS.
Maya and Sakuhito are very similar in that they have theyre fun childish sides but this never means that they are people who shirks their responsibilities. Which I think is a big comfort for Maya because I like to imagine in the presence of other people they’ll be all stiff. Maya and Sakuhito bow deeply to each other and are like ‘It’s an honor to meet you Emperorer Kuze’ ‘Yes as with you oh powerful Kurain Master’ and they’ll glance up and theres this small smile and glimmer in they’re eye and they share a giggle before coming back up. Them talking to each other politely feels more like a game of pretend, compared with others when they’re playing their assigned roles.
Now time for fun hcs!
I like to imagine if they’re stuck in a gathering of important figures, Maya and Sakuhito will find themselves together and they’ll look like they’re having important conversations, and sometimes they are but others Maya’s just cracking jokes with him in a hushed tones. Sometimes Sakuhito has to start into a coughing fit to hide a laugh.
Of course Maya doesn’t do this all the time. She has a good sense of responsibility and time and place, but there’s also something fun about sharing in these secret conversations. It’s a feeling akin to passing notes in the middle of class with a close friend.
These two have conversations thats just two people of similar personalities and backgrounds who can connect and understan each other in this way that not a lot of other people can They have a lot of fun and when they’re together they can just be themselves. And it’s a bit of a relief from their usual lives. They give each other a place where they can be themselves.
I like to think that they’re kind of like each others safe havens. Like theyre home when they’re with each other.
These two get so good at reading each other so if something happens in a room, they literally just have to make eye contact and immediately theres this understanding. They can make hand signals that no one else understands but them.
Ohh Maya gets kidnapped and she sends a letter thats supposed to make sure no one suspects anything but later when Kuze is relaying this to Sakuhito Maya says something odd that makes Sakuhito raise an eyebrow. Like it’s something small that no else would think twice about but he just KNOWS and he takes a look at the letter and it makes mention of a story character who gets kidnapped, And its one of the stories she had told him about and hes immediately like. MAYAS BEEN KIDNAPPED. and everyone else is like. isnt that a jump? but he just KNOWS. he can tell from just these small things that somethings wrong and theres something in his gut that just makes him so sure of this
oh man i want modern au for all your muses i just tried imagining modern sakuhito but idk how thatd even translate
Munenori
I feel like she tends to do the same for munenori that she does for Sakuhito but rather than it being a concentrated effort at first, with like a purpose she just can kind of naturally be herself. I think that has to do with the fact that Munenori isn’t pushing himself like sakuhito is to keep up the mask of someone that is just the opposite of himself. Her relationship is something more relaxed where she just is herself and munenori appreciates it
I feel like this relationship is very mutual in that, Maya really loves and respects him. She respects how dignified he is. How he holds himself as a leader and how he leads. She’s fascinated by him because he doesn’t treat her like others do and he seems to genuinely enjoy her presence rather than just putting up with her. There’s this natural pull she feels where she wants to learn more about him. In turn munenori appreciates how shes never let the power she has get to her head, rather it’s not in her to ever let her power control her like it has others. She’s so genuine and has this aura of fun about her but also never shirks her own responsibilities. I also feel like he’ll be one of the first to realize her tactical abilities and that she’s much smarter than she or anyone will give her credit her. Like this relationship is built on a lot of mutual respect.
When these two are together I like to imagine it’s more like two like minded people with differing energies that come to converge when they’re together. It’s a friendship that on the outside looks so strange but for these two it’s so natural. They’re like minded enough to enjoy one anothers presence but different enough for them to be able to learn and grow from being together. The ways they differ allow for them to have these interesting conversations. While they don’t agree on everything they can usually walk away from disagreements feeling like they learned something. I guess if I had to describe it, you wouldn’t ever imagine it but their brains are kind of on the same wavelength. Like they can just enjoy each others presence and grow from each other, but when things get bad, something happens with the war, they stand on equal footing and can help support each other. Give insight that the other lacks
Roberto
Her relationship with Roberto is interesting because he meets her on much different circumstances than she does with the other two. Maya is trying to really embrace her responsibility and in doing so leave parts of herself behind. It’s not like she’s all business all the time but there’s not as much room to be herself. That’s why Roberto is someone she really connects with. He brings out this side of her that’s shes trying to lock away and just the mere presence of him is making that impossible for her.
These two are people with similar energies who feed into each other. When they’re together it can be explosive chaos because there are ZERO brakes. Interestingly enough it’s usually maya with the reservations. Because she’s here to work. She’s here to study. Yes she has fun, yes she can be silly, but she can’t be her usual rule breaker self when she’s here. She wants to be respectful to the kingdom that allowed her to study under their royalty. So she can’t exactly go around burning the place down.
That’s why Roberto is kind of like her kryptonite. He so naturally and effortlessly pulls her entire personality out where she likes it or not. That’s kind of good but kind of bad. He encourages those impulses that usually most people would tell her no. It’s good in that Maya has more room to breathe, but sometimes he encourages her to do things she shouldn’t. But I think because he’s encouraging this side of her that everyone tells her is bad, she feels more like she can trust him. Like she can entrust this side of herself to him.
Now for some fun hcs
Maya and Roberto get so good at avoiding guards it’s like a game of hide and seek. They end up becoming really acquaintd with all the nooks and crannies of the palace. They end up exploring the castle more thoroughly and even find hidden passageways and they explore a lot together. Like they have all these cool adventures.

My Top Ten Favorite Danganronpa Characters
So I’ve watched a playthough of all three Danganronpa games. Trigger Happy Havoc, Goodbye Despair and Killing Harmony. I can officially say I love this series and is obsessed with it.
Here’s a list of all the 10 characters that I like the most. Befrore we start I’m going to go over two rules.
This is based on their appearance in the main games. No supplementary material like spinoffs or the anime will be taken account. Also anything that can be gleamed from the character in free time or school mode will also not be taken into account.
I’m not going to adding you-know-who to the list because really, I only like him for shallow reasons and there are way more characters that are objectively better than him.
Spoilers. (duh)
10.  Ultimate Imposter (Byakuya Togami)
Tumblr media
This the Ultimate Impostor, not Byakuya, so there’s no bias.
I don’t know much about the real Ultimate Imposer so this based on what I’ve seen in Goodbye Despair.
Impostor had the same smatassness as Byakuya but he was also determined to keep everyone alive. Which makes his death in the first case really sad, he tried so hard to prevent on murder that in the end, he was one that got murdered.
Also he gets called “ham hands” by Hiyoko and instead of retorting, he actually kinda rolls with. That’s kinda interesting.
9.  Gundham Tanaka
Tumblr media
Oh my god. Gundham was just buckets of fun.
“FOUR DARK DAVAS OF DESTRUCTION! SAND-D, JUM-P, MAGA-Z, CHUM-P!” Oh man! I love the way this guy emotes.
Fun fact: I was convinced Gundham wound’t die because he had cute hamsters. I mean, his hamsters didn’t die regardless I think.
Gundham puts his scarf up when he’s embarrassed. That’s just adorable.
8. Nagito Komaeda
Tumblr media
I just recently got into the Danganronpa so I’m not familiar with all the jokes and meme. With that in mind, I don’t really understand Nagito’s infamous meme status and how he’s comparable to Sans. I can kinda get it from seeing him in Goodbye Despair but I don’t fully understand.
The reason why he’s on the list is because I strangely find this pathetic sad-sack to be endearing. He tries SO HARD to be a stepping stone for the other characters and his self deprecation and constant tearing himself down was so fun to watch.
And when Nagito learns about the truth of the other ultimate, he gets even better. I don’t know but watching this pitiful, insane, individual try to act all arrogant is so funny to me.
His role in the overall narrative of Danganronpa was pretty interesting too. In the first game, hope and despair were black and white, good and evil. In Goodbye Despair, it was cool to see a little more nuance added and it’s shown that hope isn’t objectively good. The most extreme end of hope can be just as devastating as despair.
7. Genocide Jack/Jill
Tumblr media
Ok, so it Genocide Jack or Genocide Jill? In Trigger Happy Havoc, The serial killer is Genocide Jack but she refers herself as Jill. But for the rest er series, it’s only Genocide Jack? WHAT IS IT?
Oh well. Genocide Jill was quite the surprise, taking a character I was indifferent to, Toko Fukawa, and turned her into something beautiful and crazy. Genocide Jack is super expressive, and wild, and funny, and I love her. The one sided relationship between her Byakuya was pretty entertaining even if it got a bit too gross.
Also that tongue tho.
6.  Kokichi Oma
Tumblr media
This guy, the freaking guy.
I love him. I don’t care what you say, he’s a good boy.
The way he emotes is just fantastic.
I think what makes me sympathetic towards Kokichi was his motive video. Turns out he isn’t some evil overlord, he just pulls harmless pranks with his friends. That made me feel really bad for him. Even if he was piece of shit.
The 5th case made me fall in love with him but really, I took a shine on him throughout the entire game. His insults are something out Glee but they’re still entertaining because they’re directed to the worst people like Miu. Fucking Miu.
Also his fake death was great.
Yeah, I know he’s a lying basted but look at him!
Tumblr media
HE LOOKS SO SAD. AND WHEN HE’S SAD! I’M SAD! AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH
5.  Junko Enoshima
Tumblr media
This was a mind blowing reveal. Junko Enoshima, the character who died at the start and is quickly forgotten was the mastermind of the killing game. She fits the role of total despair perfectly, it’s so unsettling to see this girl talk about destroying the world and torturing 14 innocent teenagers while also being excited about doing it.
Her multiple personalities were also a treat. The fact that she changes her personally because she’s bored of her current one is just amazing. The regal one is my favorite.
That giant Junko at the end of Goodbye Despair... WOW.
But I will admit they kinda overused her. Seeing her in Goodbye Despair was a kinda neat but in Killing Harmony... Yeah. I was so ready get disappointed if Junko was the main villain a THIRD TIME. It she was, she would’t even be on the list. But while I’m glad she wasn’t, the teasing and the fake reveal still kinda soured Killing Despair’s ending for me.
4. Sakura Ogami
Tumblr media
Overtime throughout Trigger Happy Havoc, my admiration for Sakura grew exponentially over time. She was definitely was the most mature of the entire cast of high schoolers, determined to keep focus on the goal ahead and despite her outward appearance, she was very kind.
Her friendship with Hina was great to see even if it made Hina try to kill everyone.
Sakura is the type of person where you can talk to her about personal issues and she’d try to help.
It’s so depressing how she was treated by everyone when she was nothing but nice, even if she was the traitor and planned to kill someone.
3. Kaito Momota
Tumblr media
Spoiler alert. The last three on this list will be the best friend group from Killing Harmony. I couldn’t just pick one, they are all just amazing.
At first, Kaito seems like your typical filler character that gets killed off in early cases but boy was I wrong. His kind, supportive, and determined attitude to believe in his friends and survive the killing game was wonderful.
Kaito was the one to approach Maki and try to start a friendship, even after learning of her true origins. That just shows what a great guy he is.
His peak was undoubtedly the 5th case.
Kaito contracting that disease and fearing he not survive and get into space was heartbreaking. But that last “fuck you” to Monokuma during his execution was awesome.
2. Shuichi Saihara
Tumblr media
Hands down, best Danganronpa protagonist ever. Makoto was ok, kinda unoriginal and bland design but was nice seeing him in Goodbye Despair and Hajime, actually he has an ever blander design LOL, but he makes up for with good writing and performance.
But Shuichi blows those two out of the water. Admittedly I was disappointed that Kaede was killed off and the protagonist role was switched to him because a female protagonist would have been amazing. But Shuichi proves himself to be something great.
First, him being the Ultimate Detective made a lot sense when he was figuring out these complex cases.
Second. his eternal struggle of figuring out the truth vs the truth harming others was so interesting to me.
Third, his relationship with Maki and Kaito was so fun and satisfying to watch and his brief friendship with Kaede was so sweet but sad to see end. It’s adorable that Shuichi accepts the role of sidekick to Kaito despite him and Maki knowing full well Kaito barely knows anything.
1. Maki Harukawa
Tumblr media
GIVE. MAKI. ROLL. A. HUG.
If Maki is upset, give her a hug. If Maki is happy, give her a hug. If Maki is threatening to kill you, give her a hug.
What started out as an cold, intimidating girl, became something amazing when  Kokichi dropped this bombshell.
The Ultimate Assassin.
The name alone sends chills down your spine. A person like that someone you’d want to put as many doors, walls and continents between. But in a killing game that might be a bit difficult. Which is why Kaito tries get him, Maki and Shuichi to all form a blossoming friendship.
Maki’s con disaster backstory was really cute.
Her origins as the big sister of an orphanage and how despite the fact she’s a ruthless killer, kids still love her, that was really cute.
And how she talks about assassinations as if it were a mundane job was interesting.
Look. The point is, Maki is best girl and my favorite character in all of Danganronpa.
...
...
...
JUST KIDDING! NUMBER ONE CHARACTER GOES TO BYAKUYA TOGAMI!!!
Tumblr media
BEST BOY! NO DOUBT!
HE DID NOTHING WRONG EXCEPT ALL THINGS HE DID THAT WERE WRONG.
FUCKING EAT IT BITCH!

(ASKS ARE OPEN!!! Version 1.1. The original should be referred to as ‘Version 1.0’. Full size of the regular version [3000x1000] in my Sta.sh!
Feel free to ask these guys questions! Or maybe roleplay with any of them. I have enough spare time for both! 😊
Anything with an asterisk is IRL or other matters involving the character.
‘COO’ stands for ‘country of origin’, ‘COR’ stands for ‘country of residence’.)
Info on each character, prepare for a long read.
🍰 Mr. Gooseyshoes 🎸
Full name: Yvan August Gooseyshoes (Originally nameless, then titled ‘Clumsy One’, then was eventually given his current name.)
Species: Humanoid toon
Height: 4'4 ft
Est. age: Mid-late 20s / Canonical birthday: August 31st / ‘Creation date’: Same day, 1931
COO: France 🇫🇷
COR: United States 🇺🇸
True origin*: (When I decided to play around with my Robloxian’s look, I made the limbs and torso different colors: left arm green, right arm red, torso blue, left leg white, right leg black. At the time, I couldn’t easily determine his gender, but he was undoubtedly male-presenting. This dated back between 2013 and -15, possibly making him the ‘youngest’ member.)
Beginning: Starting off in black & white comics translated from French, Yvan was a mischievous slapstick character with a lack of common sense. He had companions; his cousin Kenneth (can also be called ‘Ken’ or ‘Kenny’), and a rogue clown named Barry. He was the clumsiest of all, and was (and still is!) known to swing large items around, knocking the other two over; this lead to a fight, but they made up later.
(cont.) Despite the antics and mean-spirited remarks the two made at strangers without him, Yvan mostly stuck to jokes and harmless pranks…when he’s not accidentally being hit in the face with planks and canes. There were even colored animated shorts of the three, a series which only lasted a couple of years due to budget problems; the three went their separate ways, until meeting again decades later.
📖 Ollie 🎶
Full name: Oliviero Percy Rigatoni (Originally just ‘Oliviero’)
Species: Humanoid toon
Height: 4'3 ft
Est. age: Mid-late 20s / Canonical birthday: September 18th / ‘Creation date’: Same day, 1971
COO: Italy 🇮🇹
COR: United States 🇺🇸
True origin*: (I drew a picture of a man with blue skin and reddish-pink eyes, somewhat like the current design. The only things that haven’t changed are his hair and eyes. This estimates back to 2011.)
Beginning: N/A (TFW you’re too mentally exhausted to continue writing stories about your own characters. Don’t worry, I’ll get to it!)
⛪ Doug the Dog 🎼
Full name: Douglas Noah Beagle
Species: Anthro dog toon
Height: 3'2 ft
Est. age: Early 30s / Canonical birthday: May 21st / ‘Creation date’: Same day, 1994
COO: United States 🇺🇸
COR: See ‘COO’
True origin*: (In this universe, he’s a toon; but in the real world? He’s an arts & crafts sockpuppet from my old church, hence why I gave him a cross and halo. He doesn’t have his ears, but the hair is there. I also based the sweater off his sock design, making the brown a little darker so it didn’t look weird. Est. 2004-5, making him the ‘oldest’.)
Beginning: There was a drop of Christian faith in the neighborhood. A local church had lost a lot of members over the years, the lack of interest among youth causing too many seats to go unfilled. Thanks to 3 of the churchgoers having a knack for drawing; they passed around ideas back and forth until eventually settling with Doug and his family; his father Harry, his uncle Rufus, and eventually, Roxanne in “Episode 10: Someone I Know Isn’t A Christian. What Do I Do?”. They already had their own website, and Flash animation was all the rage at the time!
(cont.) Was it easy? Not really. But Doug did have fans, even receiving letters from a few of them straight to the church nearly daily. The makers received a lot of attention across the web, the cartoon dog being loved for several different reasons; his important life lessons, his adorable appearance, his kindness, and his relatable nature. Some news: As all 3 animators started raising families of their own, the responsibility of running the series went to younger members so that the original ones could spend time with their kids. (A lot of time passed since 1994. They were 14, 15 and 16 upon starting; the 9 new members are all between 15 and 30.)
📼 Troy ⚽
Full name: Troy Nate Donaldson
Species: Cyclops-esque toon
Height: 3'10 ft
Est. age: 13 years 🔞 / Canonical birthday: December 9th / ‘Creation date’: Same day, 1979 (First televised 1985. Seems he’s been a youngin for an awfully long time…)
COO: United States 🇺🇸
COR: See ‘COO’
True origin*: (Like Ollie, he started off as a drawing; I even drew him with a tornado for a mouth once. The only differences being that I gave him longer hair up front, and a wardrobe unlike his original one.)
Beginning: Two brothers had a great idea for a show; animated figures cross into the real world via portal, walking into the backyard of a human kid named Jesse. Troy would be seen exploring elements foreign to him; such as ladybugs, soccer balls, and the grass being green. Because of time limits, Troy was never given a mouth outside of concept art, which meant not worrying about lip syncing when they had other things to do.
(cont.) Jesse taught Troy how to play 1-on-1 soccer, then taught him how to spell larger words such as ‘dictionary’ and ‘encyclopedia’. The show also had montages of Jesse chasing after the one-eyed people (including Troy), which was a running gag involving disguises and leaving messes behind. The show ended in 1990, 5 years after its first episode, as there was no more of the story to tell. To this day, he is still a child by choice.
 Mrs. Donaldson 🍇
Full name: Athena Jessica Donaldson
Species: Cyclops-esque toon
Height: 5'2 ft
Est. age: Mid-to-late 30s / Canonical birthday: April 15th / ‘Creation date’: December 12th, 1979 (First televised 1985.)
COO: United States 🇺🇸
COR: See ‘COO’
True origin*: (I thought of a beautiful cyclops-looking woman. Smart, too. She just popped up into my brain while drawing some art.)
Beginning: Before becoming an art teacher, Mrs. Donaldson was a guardian of her hometown (in our world, that’s like being a cop), making sure no one suffered as a result of crime. One day, she felt that Troy needed to be educated about alternate dimensions, which led her to take him to a vastly different version of America; or more specifically, a human family’s backyard in Tennessee. While the location was random, the weather was just right. Unfortunately, the portal was open for too long, a bunch of Troy and Athena’s people ran out from it with joy, then it closed behind them indefinitely. Due to the fuel inside of the portal wand being extremely hard to find in this dimension, they were gonna be stuck here for a while.
(cont.) They were not ones to panic so quickly; instead, they sought out knowledge and resources from this different Earth. She played the role of protecting these people before, and would gladly do it again. Athena did not star in as many episodes as her son did, her count being 283 out of 294. She also taught morals when not teaching the basics of art, ranging from honesty to sharing. Parents complained about her old outfit, so the brothers had to put her in what she wears now to avoid being cancelled before wrapping things up.
💷 Ken 🚬
Full name: Kenneth Joseph Cross
Species: Humanoid toon
Height: 4'3.5 ft
Est. age: Early-to-mid 20s / Canonical birthday: March 4th / ‘Creation date’: August 31st, 19??
COO: United Kingdom 🇬🇧 (Made by a Frenchman, though.)
COR: See ‘COO’ (Sometimes goes to America, but only to visit relatives.)
True origin*: (Okay, so I thought ‘Why not draw a guy with a large grin/frown?’ I sometimes pictured him in black & white stripes as well, but maybe I’ll use that kind of design for his pre-color days.)
Beginning: N/A
🎭 “Barry The Buffoon” 🔨
Full name: Fionnbharr Patrick Emmett (Originally nameless, then only titled as “The Buffoon”, then was eventually given his current name.)
Species: Humanoid toon
Height: 4'1 ft
Est. age: Mid-to-late 30s / Canonical birthday: May 6th / ‘Creation date’: August 31st, 1931
COO: Scotland (Made by a Frenchman, though. No Scottish flag emoji? Boo. ;n;)
COR: See ‘COO’
True origin*: (I was inspired from watching some cartoon shorts from the 20s and 30s, mainly B&W ones. Plus, I wanted to give this random clown a meaningful role.)
Beginning: N/A
🍮 Buford 🐕
Full name: Sir Buford of Birmingham XIV (the 14th)
Species: Quadruped dog toon
Height: 1'3 ft
Est. age: Bet. 1-5 years / Canonical birthday: September 1st / ‘Creation date’: January 29th, 2003
COO: England 🇬🇧
COR: United States 🇺🇸
True origin*: (I imagined Yvan having a talking dog who truly loved his master, making sure he was happy and healthy. I hope he actually looks like a Scottish terrier, or at least some kind of terrier breed/mix.)
Beginning: Sir Buford was one of the secondary antagonists of a show called “Canines Out Of Line", an ongoing series about bipedal dogs breaking the law, spending money carelessly, and doing things I shouldn’t mention. (equivalent rating of TV-14) Buford was a dog that gained the ability to speak by accidentally eating a dog treat, which his then-owner pulled out of a strange beaker containing unnamed chemicals. It was meant to be thrown out, but Dr. Mecha (no medical degree) wasn’t fast enough. She marvelled at how her pet (at the time) started talking like an Englishman, taking notes on his newfound vocal abilities.
(cont.) Sadly, when word spread around the neighborhood about a talking dog, the COOL blew up Dr. Mecha’s lab and tried to force Buford to join; he refused, and was held hostage. He fought them off, escaped back to his home, and came back to see the female scientist who cared for him still alive, making it a happy-ish ending. Despite that, things only got darker from there. From the start, he was determined to bring C.O.O.L. down, one way or another.
More characters coming soon?

Wassup, ST here! You remember that information Sleep said we were gathering? Well I’m here to present it to you. Well, at least some of it. So here’s some general facts about those of us available for asks!
Sleep:
Lives off coffee
Poor child has horrible nightmares and refuses to sleep until he just crashes
The only way in which you could bribe him to sleep is with cuddles (They chase away the nightmares)
He is the epitome of clingy when sleeping
Ironically, or unironically depending how you look at it, he has the ability to knock someone out cold (putting them to sleep not punching them Anxiety, chill)
Hates Anxiety with a passion like nobody's business (None of us can figure out why though, asides from Emile but he refuses to share claiming “doctor, patient confidentiality”
Whenever there’s a concert you can bet your money that Sleep will be there, dragging Virgil along with him
You know that bag he has with him? Ya he never leaves it unattended and no one knows what’s in it.
Has photophobia (That’s why he has those glasses he never takes off) The cause has not been determined, although Emile thinks it might have something to do with Sleep’s glowing eyes.
Has no sense of direction
Says he’s going to the store, next thing you know he calling asking you to pick him up cause he’s somehow found his way to The Witches Tower (Which is all the way across Ro’s kingdom from the city)
He moves quietly, you could be sitting in the living room with nothing on (it’s so quiet you can hear a pin drop) and he’ll come through into the kitchen then back out the front door without you even knowing he was there.
If he doesn’t want to be found, he won’t be.
Emile Picani:
Is a psychologist
Meaning he’ll do more than just relationship therapy
He’s not a medical doctor, there the Surgeon for medical emergencies
He’s taken to studying somethings in terms of magic for anyone of Ro’s kingdom (and Sleep) who might need assistance
Loves childrens shows.
He finds small messages or characters to relate back to his patients
Tends to be the one to aid Sleep in his adventures
This is because he doesn’t really have any other patients at the moment aside from the steven universe team
And won’t until there’s another episode of Cartoon therapy being produced
This also doesn’t mean they all have continual issues, asides from poor Elliot, it more means that they go there to talk with PIcani about things not necessarily relationship wise
When exploring the town with Sleep you better bet that he carries around the cheeseburger backpack
He also makes sure to get them both donuts at some point while exploring
Has a sweet tooth
Can’t consume coffee cause it makes him jittery and he can’t focus well
Missy (Misleading Compliments):
He’s the Thomas from the misleading compliments vines
Sweetest bean
Look like as cinnamon roll and is one but he can still kill you
Mess with his friends and they’ll never find your body
… this time it’s not a compliment
Really flirtatious, but knows when to stop or tone it down
Sometimes he’s a flirt without meaning to, but it’s just in his nature
Might accidentally say an innuendo without meaning to most of the time
Is also a gentleman
Will open a door for you and refuse to let you pay for dinner, even if he just met you
Anytimes Deceit comes around he can be easily influenced by the false compliments
When Virge reveals however who Deceit actually is (He lied about his identity the first meeting) Missy is the first one to deck him in the face next time he shows up
Will fite you behind Dennys if you try to talk bad about yourself
Pranks (Pranks with Friends):
He’s the Thomas from the Pranks with friends series
Avid lover of Pokemon and his love of Disney can rival Roman’s
April fools is his favorite holiday
He makes sure that any pranks he pulls are harmless
Of course this doesn’t mean that there haven’t been a few that have caused some issues
One of his pranks went horribly wrong and he’s avoided the mention of it since
The largest goofball/dork you will ever meet
Of the trio he’s the most innocent
Deceit gets the brunt of any/all of his pranks
Wears hoodies 24/7/365
As soon as Pokemon Go came out he’s been all over it
He made ST and Missy play as well. Of course they had to all choose different teams
Pranks:Instinct. Missy:Mystic. ST: Valor
Hurt his friends and he’ll pull the most harmless, yet annoying pranks to get back at you.
As a warning. After that it’ll get physical
ST (Narrating your lives):
ST (Short for Story Time) is the Thomas from the Narrating Your Lives vines
Will also respond to Narrator
He’s an Extra™ boi
If you can’t find him with the other two then head to Ro’s village,he’ll be there directing and writing plays with Roman.
If this was a human AU or they had actual history as kids in school then he definitely would have been the one to be bullied.
When narrating people’s lives he has been punched before
If we’re playing the who’s most innocent with the trio, then he’d be the least
Aims to add puns in where ever he sees fit
Or if he comes up with one
Missy normally winds up beating him to it though
Kind of impulsive
Brain:
Impulse control? Who’s she? Never heard of her.
Intrusive thoughts are powerful in this one yes.
If your friend jumped off the bridge would you?
The answer yes, by the way
Also the little shite actually ate a tide pod
The only reason he’s not dead is cause he’s a figment of Thomas’s imagination
He did become terribly ill though
Now they have to be locked up on a high shelf
That has not stopped him from summoning more unfortunately
Within the short amount of time Anxiety has been around he’s become Brain’s babysitter
He can be mature and reasonable when he wants to
For some reason that goes just as horribly
Duet (Drive-by-Duets):
The Thomas from the Drive-by-Duet vines
He randomly breaks into song
He's a precious bean
Encourages everyone planning on trying out acting or some music based career
He's also can be found with Roman and ST in the village
He is an less Extra™ boi but he is still extra
Can play literally any instrument
Dorky gentleman
Where Missy is smooth Duet trips over his own feet trying to pull out your seat for you
He is also clumsy when not trying to be smooth
He is not allowed into the kitchen unsupervised
Can sing like an angel but can't dance to save his life
Elliot:
Smol bean
Must be protected (Sleep’s words not mine)
Listens to “emo” music (Like MCR, Evanessense, Set it Off, to name a few)
He loves his boyfriend, he really does and he swears Michael loves him too (Sleep would beg to differ, but doesn’t try arguing)
When Sleep and Virgil go off to concerts they always makes sure lend the invitation to Elliot
While he doesn’t always accept the offer, he does appreciate the thought.
They haven’t really felt like sharing much so this all there is currently
Corne:
Sloane and Corbin, precious beans
Sleep claims that Sloane is more dangerous than he seems
Sleep also claims that Corbin has not much of and idea what he got himself into by dating Sloane
He refuses to say why he thinks this way
Sloane takes life as it comes and doesn’t let bad things deter him.
Corbin’s a bit more of a prepare for the worst and hope for the best
Aaannnd Corbin refused to let us ask anymore questions after that so that’s all for now.
Dorry:
Larry and Dot are rebellious teen adults.
Dot doesn’t know her own strength sometimes
They pick on each other occasionally, but it’s all in good fun.
Larry tries too hard occasionally to be… hip? Would that be the word to use??
Dot’s one of those teachers that’s awesome as a person, but aggravating as a teacher
Anything else was found by Emile, who keeps claiming doctor patient confidentiality
Vitani (The Dragonwitch):
Despite what was mentioned before about Roman’s characters being the least aware, she’s actually as aware as Sleep and us.
She’s dubbed herself Vitani because it’s easier than always calling her dragonwitch.
Don’t  tell Roman though
The head witch and alpha dragon
She’s got her work cut out for her.
Can shapeshift like the sides, through the use of her magic.
Her magic color is green cause Every Villain Is Lime
She’d much prefer a shade of Red-violet but it can’t be helped now

Fic: Disclipline and Cookies
Summary: Rumple and Belle have always excelled at being parents - except in one particular area: discipline. When a prank goes wrong, Gideon learns how soft his parents really are.
[read it on Ao3]
This was unusual. Gideon never got into trouble. He was always such a good and well-mannered kid. He never did anything naughty, and they’d certainly never been called into the school to discuss anything other than how exceptionally talented and bright he was. So why had they been summoned to Snow’s classroom after school with the instruction to have a strict word with her?
Mild panic and concern filled Rumple and Belle’s heads. Was he getting bullied? Had he fallen into a bad crowd? They wordlessly communicated their thoughts through their worried expressions, as they waited in silence outside her classroom. After what felt like an eternity, the door opened and Snow stood before them, gesturing for them to come inside.
They walked in together, quickly registering Gideon sitting alone at a table. His expression was solemn and he avoided the gaze of his parents. They each took a seat on the other side of Snow’s desk as she sat opposite them. She looked slightly uncomfortable herself, shifting in her seat as if she was reluctant to be calling Rumple and Belle in for a word. After a brief silence, Rumple asked what the problem was.
“Recently, Gideon has been experimenting with pranks in the classroom,” began Snow. “They started off harmless, making pens dance and such. He’s received a warning for it, regardless. There’s a place for magic and it’s not in the classroom around other students.
“In today’s class, we continued reading from The Catcher in the Rye,” she said, bringing out a copy from one of her desk drawers. She put it in front of the pair of them and opened it to a random page. “All was normal until we got up to this sentence here. “‘Thank you for the compliment,’ I said. ‘Gideon Gold’s my name.’”
Rumple and Belle frowned in confusion.
“I… don’t understand?” said Belle, eventually. “Why does it have Gideon’s name in it?”
“Every reference to the main character in this book has been changed from ‘Holden’ to ‘Gideon’. And not only in this book. Gideon has charmed every book in the school to replace the main character’s name with his.”
Rumple and Belle turned to their guilty-looking son, who seemed to be trying to make himself look as small as possible.
“Is this true, Gideon?” asked Rumple. Gideon shrugged and looked down in shame.
“I was only meant to do it to Roderick’s book,” he said, meekly. “I thought he’d find it funny. I don’t know how it happened to every book in the school.”
Rumple was impressed. The level of precision that must have taken… well, that was advanced, to say the least. He hadn’t taught him to do that. Gideon must have used his own initiative and learned the theory and practice of the trick himself. He’d always been proud of his son, but his ambition and potential was blossoming more and more by the day. He looked to Belle, who was still staring at the book with her hand over her mouth. No, this was bad. Gideon shouldn’t be practicing magic without supervision.
Belle was trying to stifle a laugh. Her son’s big personality had always been coated with a good sense of humour. The inspiration behind his prank must have been the fact that he was named after the character in Her Handsome Hero. As far as his mischievousness went, she was glad that his love of books had played a role in his creativity. She glanced towards Rumple, who was frowning slightly. No, this was bad. He shouldn’t be pulling pranks and disrupting lessons.
Snow continued pulling out more books to reel off more examples. The Harry Potter series were now titled with Gideon Gold, and Black Beauty was now Gold Beauty. Soon there were a dozen books on the desk, their son’s name staring at them in various fonts.
“As you can see, it’s caused a lot of disruption. The class didn’t take in any of the words because they were too busy sniggering at each mention of his name, meaning we’re now a lesson behind - and we were already behind schedule,” continued Snow. “I’ve had teachers coming in all day demanding to know why their textbooks have changed, not to mention how the book in my bag has been turned to 50 Shades of Gold.”
Rumple looked to his lap and covered his face with his hands. What kind of parent would he look like if they’d caught him smirking at his son’s ingenuity? Beside him, Belle was trying to think of sad scenarios in her head to stop the smile playing at her lips.
“I’m very sorry for Gideon’s actions,” said Belle. “Thank you for letting us know. We’ll deal with him at home.”
Rumple waved his hand and a glow spread around all the books in the classroom, the covers of the books in front of them changing back to their original titles.
“They should be corrected now,” said Rumple. “It won’t happen again.”
They got to their feet and Gideon skulked towards them. Rumple and Belle shared a glance and sighed. They’d have to discipline him. Neither of them were good in that area, as, luckily, they’d never really had to tell him off. Gideon had just always been so good. They’d have to do this together.
The car journey was silent, and not a word was spoken on the long path towards the house. Once the door was shut behind them, Rumple threw the car keys on the cabinet and sighed, turning reluctantly towards the scene they’d have to play out. Belle had had her arms crossed and had looked a little lost for a whole five minutes, as if trying to figure out where to go from here. Gideon looked at them, expectantly, seeming to have more of an idea about what they should do than even they did.
“Sorry,” he mumbled.
“Come on, Gideon, you’re better than this,” began Belle. “You can pull pranks without using magic and without it being during lessons.”
“We raised you better than this,” added Rumple, albeit a little uncertainly, as he racked his brains for lines his aunties had used on him when he was a child.
“What would have happened if your father hadn’t have been able to rectify it?”
Gideon looked at his shoes.
“I don’t know,” he said. “I didn’t mean for it to get out of hand, honest. I won’t do it again.”
“Gideon, you shouldn’t be using magic at all,” said Rumple. “You aren’t trained. When you try and use magic without having control over it, god knows what could happen. You’ve seen the effect yourself - you tried to change one book but changed every book in the entire building. I don’t want to see this happen again.”
“Yes, dad,” said Gideon, quietly, nodding his head. “I’m sorry.”
Belle felt her heart melt at his big guilty eyes, and Rumple wanted nothing more than to pull his son in and give him a hug.
“We… need to be sure you won’t behave like this again. You’ll spend the rest of the evening in your bedroom, so you can reflect on the consequences of your actions,” instructed Rumple.
“And you’re grounded for the rest of the week,” added Belle, with a heavy heart. Gideon nodded again and went upstairs without uttering another sentence, hanging his head in shame. Belle and Rumple sighed once more, feeling guilty and hoping that they wouldn’t have to repeat this any time soon.
***
Gideon shut the door behind him and sat on his bed, his encounter with his parents playing over and over in his mind. He’d never been grounded before, they must be so disappointed in him. He sighed and reached into his bag, pulling out a book to try and distract himself. Five pages in, however, the repeated mention of his name filled him with more and more guilt, so he put it down and stared out the window.
There was a knock at his door, and he saw his mother’s head peek through the crack. She gave him a reassuring smile, closed the door behind her, then walked over and sat on the end of his bed. She held a pack of cookies and held them out for him to take one.
“I’m sorry we’ve had to be so strict, Gideon,” she began. “It’s just, you know how seriously your father takes magic. It isn’t something to be meddled with.”
“I know, mom,” replied Gideon, as he took a bite out of a cookie. “I won’t do it again.”
“As far as pranks go though, that was a good one,” she admitted, with a little smirk. “You’re such a creative boy. I can just imagine you, the hero in every book. Did everybody else find it funny?”
“Yeah. It was when everyone started laughing that I realised the spell went wrong. The more they laughed the more Snow got angry.”
Belle smiled and ruffled Gideon’s hair.
“At least nobody got hurt, and it all got sorted out. Do me a favour though, Gideon, and stick to more simple pranks next time? Leave magic out of it. There are other outlets. I already have enough trouble getting your father not to use it when it’s not necessary, and I don’t want to have to worry about you, too.”
“Yes, mom.”
“Good boy. I’d better go, I can hear your father walking around. You can keep the rest of the cookies in here, but I’m bringing up your dinner soon so don’t eat too many.”
She gave him another smile and left. Only a few moments later, the sound of Rumple pacing around the corridor vibrated through the air. When Gideon heard a knock at his bedroom door, he hid the cookies under his covers and looked innocent as his father strolled into his room. He, too, looked rather guilty and mimicked Belle’s actions from not ten minutes before, taking a seat next to Gideon on his bed.
“Here, I brought you a hot chocolate,” he said, passing a mug to Gideon, who accepted it with a thanks. “Look, Gideon, you didn’t put us in an easy position out there. I didn’t want to be so strict, really. It’s just that, well, you know how your mother doesn’t like magic.”
Gideon smiled behind his hot chocolate. His parents were so soft.
“I know, dad,” he replied. “I won’t use magic again, I promise.”
“Well, actually, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. That spell - I don’t know where you got it from but it requires a high level of precision, and I think your attempt shows a lot of potential. I think you could be really talented. I’ll have a talk with your mother first, but how would you feel about having lessons with me? I could teach you how to control it.”
Gideon was shocked. His parents had been called into school to discipline him for a prank gone wrong, and instead he was getting cookies, hot chocolate and magic lessons? His poor parents. They really didn’t know how to tell him off.
“Uh - yeah, that sounds great, dad,” he said.
“But, in return I expect you not to use magic without me present to supervise,” replied Rumple, a more firm tone to his voice. Gideon nodded eagerly, and Rumple also looked excited at the idea.
“Great. We could even work on projects together!” Rumple stood up and made his way back to the door. “And, Gideon, one last thing: we won’t have to tell you off for pranks if you don’t get caught.”
With a smile and a wink, his father left.
***
Downstairs, Rumple and Belle sat side-by-side on the sofa, feeling a positive glow from their interactions with Gideon.
“We’re good parents, aren’t we?” mused Rumple, putting an arm around Belle and feeling utterly content with his small, perfect family.
“Yeah,” agreed Belle. “He’s such a good kid. Takes after me, obviously.”
“That’s probably a good thing. If he took after me, we’d have to watch him like a hawk. At least he’s learned his lesson now.”
Upstairs, Gideon retrieved the cookies from under his covers and began dunking them into his hot chocolate, already feeling miles better than he had done when they’d arrived at home. It was a good thing that his parents taught by example, because discipline had never been their strong area.

Weekly Voltron Fic Recs #28
Rules: You can find past weekly rec lists here, and non-list recs in my general fic rec tag. This is stuff I like, and I have a huge bias toward Lance, hurt/comfort, and general fluff, in that order. Gen unless otherwise noted. Please comment on the fics if you read and enjoy them!
Secret of the Blood by exclamation Words: 30,685 (WIP 13/?) Author’s Summary: AU version of season 2. When Keith and Shiro were thrown from the wormhole, they crashed by the Blade of Marmora headquarters and were captured. When the Blade reveal the secret of Keith's heritage, Keith must decide if he can trust these people... and if he can trust himself. My Comments: Really well-written canon-divergence AU. I love all the things that change because Keith meets the Blade of Marmora before he and Shiro can warm up to the idea of there being good Galra out there through Ulaz. It makes a HUGE difference, for them and for everyone else as well, and I love the way the idea is being explored.
The Color Of Our Planet From Far Far Away by LonelyGirlInSpace Words: 13,942 (WIP 3/?) Author’s Summary: A story in which Lance and the team has a lot of difficulties, because they don't sleep and sometimes make poor choices as a result and others are forced to suffer more than they deserve due to those poor choices. Or Lance gets hurt because the team didn't listen and everyone desperately wants to fix it. My Comments: Lance is a little too perfect and the rest of the team is a little too mean for my tastes, at least in the first chapter, but this is a well-written and poignant hurt/comfort fic, and it’s gen, and the third chapter almost made me cry, and I’m very, very hooked. Can’t wait for more.
with quiet words I'll lead you in by strikinglight for goukyorin (sashimisusie) Words: 5,216 Author’s Summary: “You were screaming,” Keith tells him. “I heard you through the wall. ”That wall, Lance wants to point out, is supposed to be soundproof. It shouldn’t let you hear anything, no matter how hard you listen. What he says instead is “I can’t breathe.” “Take it slow.” Keith’s voice is steady, but as Lance’s eyes struggle to focus his face is a blur. The image goes shaky and then comes clear, shaky then clear, like looking into water. “Pretend it’s low tide. Tell me about the ocean again.” My Comments: Klance, but reads platonic to me. Really lovely hurt/comfort fic about kids caught in a war far, far away from home.
Disappear Completely by Bandity Words: 7,053 Author’s Summary: Lance knew something was wrong with him. He thought it would pass on its own eventually, but as time went on, and the pain continued, he realized that something inside of him must be very broken. My Comments: Possibly my favorite fic this week. So far I’ve read it three times. Lance’s trauma is so awful and visceral, and the aftermath is realistic and carefully handled. There are no easy solutions, but things do get better, and everyone is doing their best to help.
Space Mall Take 2 by CondensationOnGlass Words: 3,618 Author’s Summary: Shiro won't stand for the Paladins looking like no-good troublemakers. And with the Galra Empire so spread out and with such a gripping hold, they may need more than what they have. And for some reason the mall seems like the place to get it. And it seems like a great place to have more trouble pop up. Aka: Where Shiro has to play the big brother and apologize for the others making a great big damn mess, and nearly has another one on his hands for picking today of all days to do it. My Comments: Equal parts comedy and hurt/comfort, and a joy to read throughout. Poor Lance.
Nomenclature by Awkwardly_social Words: 7,885 Author’s Summary: It took almost five months to find Lance after the wormhole. And when they finally do, they're stuck on the planet until the castle can come get them. Lance takes the opportunity to teach the team a little about the planet and a little bit about himself along the way. My Comments: Lance has had a rough time, and the gradual way the others find out is really well-handled. Plus the worldbuilding is just really neat. Also read the sequel for some great aftermath and Lance with PTSD.
It Is Enough by nadagio  Words: 1,020 Author’s Summary: Nowhere near close to finding Shiro and uncertain what he should do now, Lance spends some quiet time with the Blue Lion. My Comments: Really sweet fic with Blue helping Lance deal with his grief and figure out what to do next.
mostly void, partially stars by dakhtar Words: 9,403 (WIP 3/?) Author’s Summary: “Werewolves can’t be astronauts,” Derek’s annoying voice had grumped. “Werewolves can’t be pilots. Werewolves can’t be fighter jet pilots, Lance, for God’s sake, Werewolves can’t pilot giant space robot cats that join together to become a giant space robot man and fight an evil purple bat-cat empire!” Well, he hadn’t said that last part, but Derek totally would’ve. (Alt title: seawolf) My Comments: Teen Wolf crossover, but I haven’t seen a single episode of that show and I’m enjoying this fic very much. The worldbuilding is really cool, and I love this take on Lance and the relationships he wants and needs and is trying to build.
Going Up! by Olive_theCat Words: 2,373 (WIP 1/?) Author’s Summary: When Sendak is chosen over Shiro to pilot the main engine test of the new Kerberos shuttle, he's got to take up an offer that Matt gives him: To be a camp counselor at the Galaxy Garrison summer program!Of course, herding five super-smart teenagers through some simulated astronaut training can't be all that bad, right? What could go wrong? Well, with the help of a malfunctioning little robot named Beezer towards the end of the summer...It turns out a lot can.SpaceCamp AU (movie and real life), constructive critisism is welcome! My Comments: Space Camp was one of those movies I watched over and over as a kid, and I can’t wait to see what my favorite space kids do in that setting. The author is having a lot of fun with it, and I am too.
Trust Fall by Pidgeon_Online Words: 2,869 Author’s Summary: Pidge usually dealt with her issues on her own. No one needed to be bothered with her problems when she could easily deal with them herself. Especially when it came to this. There was no way she would ask anyone for help with this. Because she was fine. She didn't need help.or Pidge definitely needs help before her body turns completely against her. My Comments: Poor Pidge, but I wish I had a whole team of adorable boys trying to help when I felt like this, so also not poor Pidge at all, I am jealous.
Uninvited Guest by YukiSkyes Words: 3,375 Author’s Summary: The most interesting stories about Glasycus Mountain, said to be the gateway between Earth and the Abyss, were the ones about the black dragon that guards it. There was no end to the people stupid enough to try to find Shiro and Keith would do anything to protect him and help hide his existence. One evening, Keith comes home to someone already inside. My Comments: This is the first of a series of nine stories so far, with the paladins in a fantasy AU, some of them not human anymore. It’s really fun, a lot of great worldbuilding, and some great character interactions. I’m really enjoying it, and I subscribed to the series.
The Once and Future Snore by hufflepirate Words: 980 Author’s Summary: Allura and Coran think about the past. Coran can't figure out how to tell Shiro he's as welcome to affection as all the younger paladins. Everybody ends up in the same nap pile anyway. (Note: Everybody (on the main team) is in this, but I only individually tagged the people who do something besides trap Coran in the middle of a nap pile while he's too asleep to know how they got there.) My Comments: Absolutely ADORABLE cuddle puddle fic focused around Coran. And can I note how wonderful it is that cuddle puddle fic is practically a genre in this fandom? Because it is.
The Home You Make by rednight16 for psyraah Words: 1,304 Author’s Summary: Sometimes the ones that end up close to you are the people that you least expect. My Comments: It’s so wonderful for Shiro to have friends who he is not responsible for, who can just talk to him as adults and have conversations that don’t have anything to do with saving the world. Yet another reason I would have been happy to have Thace and Ulaz stick around on the show.
shades of blue by behestha Words: 1,104 Author’s Summary: Eventually, Shiro's scales reach a tipping point. OR the one where Shiro has a panic attack and Lance gently helps him. My Comments: I love these two supporting each other in any situation, and this is lovely. Hinted Shance at the end, but reads as gen to me.
Trap by macShitFuck Words: 1,272 Author’s Summary: Alt title: Hell or High Water You don’t consider the amount of pain and panic an animal must go through when they’re caught in a leghold trap until you’re in one yourself. My Comments: Oh man, Hunk whump. This is brutal, but I love how he tries to calm Lance down even while he’s in horrible pain.
Turnabout is Fair Play by CondensationOnGlass for taylor_tut Words: 7,623 (WIP 2/?) Author’s Summary: Iconic pranks, blistering fevers, and fair play.Or, where some of the Paladins pull a joke and then get slammed with guilt about 8 hours later, and for others it is much more immediate.Based off a tumblr post by @taylor-tut. Might change the title. Multichapter, and in progress. I'm slow to update. My Comments: Probably my second favorite fic on this list, and yes, I read what’s available twice already. It’s a very indulgent kind of hurt/comfort that I adore, and I can’t wait for more. The prank the others pull on Lance really was harmless and cute more than anything, but he just happened to be in the middle of developing a terrifying and dangerous fever, so yeah. There’s some guilt there, poor babies.
Swallow the Sun by valkyriered Words: 1,934 Author’s Summary: Shiro has a panic attack. Kolivan tells him a story. Very background Shiro/Ulaz. My Comments: The worldbuilding here is freaking GORGEOUS, holy smokes. Just read it.
Defying the Odds by Mists Words: 13,562 (4/?) Author’s Summary: *Voltron Season 3 AU* Also known as: The Continuing Adventures of Space Dad Cat! Let's just say, a certain cockpit is not quite as empty as the paladins believe... "Highly improbable. Especially for this reality," he haughtily said with a self important air. "The odds of which being: one trillion, seven billion, eight hundred thousand, point three, two, eight, five-" SLAV! New chapter now up! The Voltron Paladins play "Dungeons and Dragons!" Poor Hunk tries to save his campaign from Lance and Pidge. While Keith and Shiro are helplessly along for the ride. Let the craziness begin! Deep character exploration. Friendship, Humor, Team as family! My Comments: Crack alert! This story is super fun, and I’m not just saying that because the most recent chapter has the kids playing DnD with Lance as a bard and Pidge as a rogue, nope, not at all.
The Pizza One by taylor_tut Words: 1,268 Author’s Summary: Like four people requested an AU where Lance is a pizza delivery man and delivers a pizza to the other paladins (modern, college AU) while running a very high fever. They make sure he gets taken care of. My Comments: This author just uploaded a whole CATALOGUE of Lance sickfics, so yeah, definitely check the author profile if you’re in the mood for a whole bunch of short fics featuring Lance injured, sick, feverish, or otherwise in need of care. I certainly enjoyed reading through the whole bunch. Picking this one out as my favorite for the way the others take in lonely, sick Lance who is just working way too hard and needs someone to look out for him. I love it.
Senmō by TheOtakuWithHazelEyes Words: 4,399 Author’s Summary: While under the effects of an alien fever, Shiro dreams of another time when he was sick. Confused and ill, he cries out for the only person he thinks can aid him- his mother. (A moment of Shiro bonding with the paladins stemming from him being sick, and a look into his thoughts.) My Comments: Really sweet hurt/comfort for Shiro, and some backstory that is poignant and lovely.
Day at the Beach by JackieNeedsMoreSleep Words: 1,804 Author’s Summary: The team takes the day off to go to the beach but Pidge has to deal with Lance and some other asshole's shit. My Comments: Really cute, fun teamfic.
Intrinsic by buttered_onions Words: 1,219 Author’s Summary: The first time Shiro felt the Force. My Comments: Miss Onions just writes the BEST AUs, gah. This is full of powerful moments. I’m so proud of wee Padawan Shiro.
Lost in the Fog by oldmythologies for melonbug Words: 2,395 Author’s Summary: Each one of them gives him something on his way back to them. My Comments: Great take on what happened to Shiro in the S2 finale and how the others get him back.
Allura's Twelve by windscryer Words: 2,217 Author’s Summary: The Paladins learn that while there are a great many differences between Earth and Altean culture, movie genres are not one of them. Some things are just universal. My Comments: Cute, fluffy teamy goodness. Just a pleasure to read.
Part of the Team by wingedflower Words: 3,785 Author’s Summary: After a training session gone terribly wrong, Lance finally reaches his breaking point. Luckily, Coran knows exactly what to say. My Comments: I just really really really love downhearted Lance and supportive Coran, gah, just give me all of it, just pour it over me, it’s SO GOOD.
Sweets at 7am by JackieNeedsMoreSleep Words: 1,223 Author’s Summary: Keith walks into the kitchen to find his friends baking. My Comments: Really cute, fluffy teamfic.
Emergency Lessons by Kalira Words: 3,210 Author’s Summary: Pidge, Lance, and Keith land in several 'emergencies' and pull each other through them. My Comments: Really lovely teamfic with a trio you don’t usually see put together. The second chapter was my favorite, but it’s all absolutely delightful.
Five Times: Keith and the Dads of Marmora by EdgarAllenPoet Words: 4,816 Author’s Summary: [Bonus, one time it literally saved his life and he really didn't have a choice but to roll with it]. So actually, this is a 'seven times' fic, but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it." 'If you want to rest more, I will stay. You are safe.' Keith wondered quietly how the person talking to him now was possibly the same leader he’d met at the Blade of Marmora." My Comments: I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Parts are funny and parts are poignant, but it’s all good start to finish. Favorite line: “Antok, listen. Listen, Antok. They are toddlers.”
and yet by achieving elysium (Ogygia) Words: 1,194 Author’s Summary: After the Castle of Lions is reclaimed from Sendak, Coran finds himself left alone to his thoughts— guilt and sorrow for children who do not belong in a war. written for voltron angst week on tumblr | day one: smile My Comments: Oh man, Coran angst always gets me in the throat. Really good stuff.
7 Times They Noticed by the_unoriginal_fox Words: 5,549 (WIP 5/7) Author’s Summary: Lance was alright. He was happy. He was fine. Except when he wasn't.“Listen. Are you alright?” “Uh…are you alright?” “Are you okay buddy?” “Are…are you in good health, paladin?" Are…are you okay, paladin?" "Hey. You okay?"His team mates, his second family - they noticed. My Comments: It’s a genfic with Lance being supported by his entire team. I love it.
The Great Escape by Eastofthemoon Words: 2,619 Author’s Summary: Keith did not like being cold, but he hated being chased by the Galra even more. My Comments: The latest installment in one of my favorite Voltron fanfic series. Read it all if you haven’t before.

i wasn’t even a little bit ready for what i was getting into when i had this idea but here we are i guess. piper’s a Bad Person and i’m uncomfortable
Listen. I’m not somebody with a habit of second-guessing herself. But on days like today, it’s hard not to ask, “You gave up a cushy career as an attorney-at-law for this?”
I sigh heavily through my nose. It turns into a hoarse cough. Too usual a thing, even these days, for me to take much notice. The clock above the door tells me another cup of coffee would do me a hell of a lot of good, so I emerge from my room for the first time all day and head for the kitchen. Ace is nowhere to be seen. Good. I don’t need her coming at me for “working such ridiculous hours” and “mixing stimulants and alcohol before noon”.
The worst part about coffee is that nobody’s found a way to brew it straight into a gal’s mouth. So, as I’m waiting, I wear a groove into the curled linoleum of the kitchen floor. I never pace anywhere except the kitchen, and only while waiting for coffee. Something about the rhythm of boiling, dripping water. The apartment fills with the acid smell of roasted caffeine. The beans were five bucks a pound. I’m no connoisseur.
Slick’s got me on call today. Her, and about a thousand other crooks. Got three consultations in a row this afternoon, all different parts of the metro. Don’t know what I was thinking when I scheduled that. Friend of a friend wants to meet up for a “favor”, specifics unspecified, although I know every other thing about him short of his shoe size. Kyrie needs me to show some kid the ropes, as if I’m the closest thing she’s got to a proper debt collector - which I suppose just goes to show how lean things are getting out there.
Supposed to meet up with Ben later to hunt down a couple of supers for interviews. A dozen irons in the fire, and somehow that’s the thing I keep coming back to — a completely nuts, dead-end puzzle box case that might not even have a solution, and which I’m definitely not getting paid for. But I can’t shake it. The coffee machine beeps quietly as the water stops dripping. The heat of the pot through my gloves makes my numbed fingers itch. This case is a bad love affair; takes all my headspace without giving back, but something’s there that’s too good to give up.
I’ve got the half-empty pot to my lips when I hear the floor outside my front door creak. I know who it is even before the three-second pause, just enough hesitation to mean something, followed by a brisk knock.
“Come in, Al,” I say. The door opens, and the man on the other side has to duck to enter my apartment.
We haven’t been acquainted for long, but there are a few things I know about Alastair Sergei. One: his picture’s in the dictionary under “Tall, Dark, and Handsome”. Like if a menswear model had a change of heart, became a librarian, and succumbed to a slightly unhealthy love of pasta and cheap wine. Two: no matter what Aisha thinks, he’s only slightly less harmless than he seems. He’s got too many streaks of bad character to be faking his overall good nature. Just how I like ‘em. And, three: the serene, charming, and entirely self-controlled smile he’s got on his face when he says hello is so boring that I consider telling him to turn right back around and leave me alone with my work.
His greeting stops halfway out of his mouth when he sees me drinking coffee right from the pot. I think about smirking at him, but decide it would be more effective to just maintain eye contact as I take another few gulps. He doesn’t even know about the whiskey.
“Rough morning?” he finally says, confusion adding a hint of interest to his bland smile.
“Can’t tell, yet,” I answer, setting the pot down on the countertop. “Long one, for sure.”
“When’d you get up?”
“Implies I’ve recently been anything other than up.”
Alastair winces in sympathy. “I should probably leave you to - uh - rest, maybe? I just thought I’d drop by, since—“
I grunt a couple of shapeless negatives, waving his words away. “Sit down. I’m already, you know… taking a break, or whatever.”
Alastair’s polite smile returns. It’s got an edge of mischief to it, this time. Slightly better. “Sorry, what was that? That word?”
“I dunno what you’re talking about.”
He leans against the back of the couch, his hands in his pockets. “To hear Ben tell it, the word ‘break’ isn’t supposed to be in your vocabulary.”
“Yeah, well,” I say with a shrug. I let him have this one, because he’s sounding too much like Ace for my taste, right now.
Alastair watches me for a minute. I’m looking down at my gloves as I pull at the hems, but I can feel his eyes. I deal with my own glare in the mirror every day. His feels like a summer breeze, compared. “What’s keeping you up all night, then?” he says.
“Mm. Jealous?”
I think that’s a new record for “smallest amount of words needed to reduce a man to momentary speechlessness”. Then he laughs easily, and a dark flush spreads inward from his ears. The slightest pang of adrenaline quickens my pulse in something similar to pride — satisfaction — like when I managed to pick a lock for the first time in sixth grade.
“Just couldn’t sleep,” I say before Alastair has a chance to get smart with me. “Figured I might as well use the time to get some work done.”
“Oh, I know that feeling.”
My eyes suddenly lock on to his hands. “Stop that.”
He pulls back, leaving a small spot on a nearby table cleared, the clutter and trinkets arranged into the beginnings of order. “Sorry,” he says reflexively, before crossing his arms. “Habit. I mean, I’m actually kind of impressed at how fast you managed to…. unpack.”
“When a room’s too clean, it don’t feel right,” I say.
His mouth twitches, but he lets it go. I suppose this means we’re even. His tone returns to banter. “I doubt anything in this building could even charitably be referred to as ‘too clean’, though.”
“That’s part of the charm,” I say, finally cracking a smile. He returns it, just as crooked but with his lips closed over his teeth, like he’s trying to pretend it’s not a completely different expression from the one he walked in with. There it is. That’s the stuff. I consider telling him he looks better when his face isn’t faked, but then again, that’d take all the fun out of making him slip.
“Since you obviously got nothing better to do,” I say, turning to the sink, “I’ll make some more coffee.”
“Thank you,” Alastair says with genuine warmth. He doesn’t mention the cup and a half still in the pitcher on the counter. Maybe he does know about the whiskey.
I set out the stuff he’ll need. I’m not gonna mix it for him. A girl’s gotta have some standards. He comes into the kitchen, his dark red curls nearly brushing the plaster ceiling tiles, and I remember — four: he takes so much cream and sugar in his coffee that I could be brewing ground-up triple-A batteries and he’d drop dead before he noticed a difference.
There is a small piece of paper on the kitchen window.
I freeze, staring at it. I can see, backlit by the city sun, a few symbols printed on the other side. It wasn’t there when I came in to make my own coffee. I’m almost certain. Ninety-nine percent. But… I can’t be sure. I didn’t make a specific note in my brain, The kitchen window is clear, nothing out of place — I reach out to it. The note is on the outside of the window. I live on the third floor.
Alastair says something. My ears filter it out before it even reaches my brain. When I stick my arm through the open window, I can just barely reach the paper, and it comes off with the faint sucking noise of weak adhesive.
A heart and a winking face. It’s handwritten, but it uses keyboard characters to form the symbols as if it had been typed up. I turn it over in my hands. There’s nothing else. My mind flips through everything I’m working on, every bit of information pertinent to all the plates I’ve got spinning on sticks, but I’ve never seen this kind of thing before. It could just be some kind of joke, I suppose, but—
“Piper, what is it?” Alastair says, insistently enough that it gets through.
I turn from the kitchen and head for my room. There isn’t a single surface in this place thick enough to keep out more than a whisper, but I figure it’ll be good enough to give me a moment to think.
I stopped believing in coincidences about the same time I first got jumped for sticking my nose in the wrong place, and this was just strange enough to fit. I could write it off as a prank, except that dumb teenagers would have a hard time scaling three stories of apartment complex just to leave a note. Unless they were supers, in which case the note may have something to do with my investigation into the superflu. I wonder if Ben would know anything about this. He and Ace are both more into the text thing than I am. Maybe it means something?
“Piper.”
I never made it into my room. I’m standing with my forehead pressed to the door. “Shut your mouth for a damn minute, would you?” I snap, holding a hand up without turning to him.
Alastair leaving my apartment in a huff registers in my brain on roughly the same level as the housefly shifting its position on the floor near my feet. The note is a signature. That much seems obvious. But it’s a signature I’m not familiar with, which makes me wonder why the owner cares about who I am or what I’m doing. Not much of a message. Maybe it’s just meant to confuse me, make me ask more questions. If that’s it, then it’s sure as hell working.
I can’t shake the feeling that I should know what this is.
The paper crumples in my hand, slowly, absently. Even worse, I feel like if the person who put it there could see me right now, they’d be laughing.

So did Ouma enjoy telling lies? I remember reading one of your older metas saying that lying wasn't something he necessarily enjoyed, but him doing it as often as he did made me sorta think otherwise? Also could you go into detail about "gentle lies"?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve been getting quite a lot of questionsabout this particular subject later, so I thought I might answer themaltogether like this!
The short answer to “did Ouma enjoy lying” is—well, yes and no. The long answer is a bit more complex, because it all depends on whatkind of lies, who he’s lying to, and his own desire to construct and maintain avery carefully crafted façade so that no one would ever get close to him orfigure out “the real him.”
One way to put it might be that Ouma very muchliked the idea of lying, as long asit was used the right way, for the right purposes. He’s very much a pranksterat heart, and like any good prankster, he’s pretty open about enjoyingdeception in the small scale. Tricks, jokes, pranks—all of these things whendone right are relatively harmless and they’re all various forms of lies. Andmost importantly, from Ouma’s perspective, they’re all fun.
Ouma is so engrossed in trying not only to findwho the ringleader is throughout ndrv3, but also in trying to escape fromboredom. Words like “boredom” come up with him almost as many times as they dowith Junko and Kamukura, which is why I’m pretty firm in my opinion that he’salmost as smart as either of them.
There’s so much in each DR installment abouthow knowing things before they happen and being so smart that other people literallycan’t begin to compare means reaching a kind of boredom that kills you from theinside out. And while Junko and Kamukura both look to “hope vs. despair” as theonly possible entertainment and cure for their boredom, Ouma is interestingbecause he seeks out a different means of entertaining himself altogether. Oumarejects hope and despair in their entirety, refusing to fill any one role, andinstead looks for even the slightest thing to distract him from the boredom anddisgust he feels for their situation in the killing game.
Lies which don’t get anyone hurt are prettyobviously his favorite kind of lies. He enjoys messing around, pulling pranks, being a bit of a brat—but at the end of the day, while he likes to keep peopleguessing and on their toes, he also just likes pulling stupid jokes to makepeople laugh. His sense of humor is verychildish from these little glimpses we get of the real him throughout the game:his tiny doodle of himself on his whiteboard, the horse mask on his bed, thedumb prank-glasses in his SHSL lab, all suggest that despite his façade and howmuch of a villain he likes to act as, he really did have the sense of humor ofa 12-year-old.
Kaede and Saihara both get the impression intheir FTEs that no matter how imposing or threatening Ouma might seem, there’sjust something inherently childish about him that’s hard to hate. That childishstreak of his was something I think was definitely genuine, to some degree. While he’s brilliant and cold and calculating, he also just really loves dumb, stupid pranks in their basest form because those are the most harmless kinds oflies. And he likes running around pulling those pranks on others because, asKaede notes even in Ouma’s introduction, he’s “like a kid who just wantsattention.”
The most important reason as to why Ouma likedthe idea of lying though is because of their capacity for helping others. InChapter 4, when pressed to stop lying repeatedly by the rest of the group, Oumafinally stops and stares at them all and wants to know why they hate lying somuch. Not only is he angry at their hypocrisy for lying to themselves and toothers all the time despite claiming to hate it, but he also knows better thanany of them how painful the truth is about Gonta being the culprit. He wants toknow why they would prefer such a painful truth over the comfort that lies canoffer.
As he says, the truth is singular andunchanging. No matter how much you do or don’t like it, the truth is what itis, and once you know it you can never un-knowit. Even if it’s horrible or painful it’s impossible to avert your eyes fromthe fact afterwards, and that truth often can and does hurt people and teardown their world-view. Lies, by contrast, are constantly changing and endlessin possibilities. Ouma is someone who understood that endless potential (inUmineko terms, “endless magic”) which lies offered much, much sooner than anyof the other characters.
Despite the rest of the group’s firm, veryblack-or-white belief that “lying was bad no matter what,” he knew for a factthat lying was often the best way in which people could cope with a harsh orpainful reality. This is what I mean by a “gentle lie,” ultimately: any liewhich could ease people’s pain or help themselves through a difficult situationwithout hurting anyone was a lie that Ouma wanted to leave intact. And this iswhy the skill you receive from completing Ouma’s FTEs is even called “gentlelie,” because after all that time spent with him, it should be pretty apparentfrom his FTEs that he’s not actually a villain or someone who got off oncruelty.
There’s no reasonto tear down these kinds of lies in place of brutal, harsh truths other thansheer malice—and that’s exactly the kind of situation the killing gamepresented to all of them. The killing game wouldn’t allow for any gentle liesor illusions in the end precisely because it was a game about exposing secretswhile simultaneously inspiring doubt and paranoia among people.
As with all things, though, lies can present adouble-edged sword just like the truth. There are truths which aren’t painful,of course—really nice, pleasant truths which are reassuring to hold onto inperiods of doubt or uncertainty. And similarly, there are lies which are definitelytold to hurt people, rather than to comfort them, or which are told to run awayfrom a subject or avert our eyes to something which will inevitably catch upwith us and hurt us.
These kinds of lies are ones that Ouma had torely on in the killing game, but not the ones that he enjoyed. As he tellsMomota from the flashback in Chapter 5, these sorts of lies were things he hadto tell himself in order to survive. Because otherwise, the horrible nature ofthe killing game would’ve worn him down a lot sooner than it did.
He undeniably stepped into the role of the villainand told all kinds of lies, no matter what the cost—even if it meant hurtingothers in the short-run, even if it meant being cruel or seeming like the worsthuman being imaginable, he did it. He had a very cold, practical streak whichwas willing to make what he deemed as “necessary sacrifices” in order to trystopping the game in the long run. But that didn’t mean it was easy for him orsomething that he actually enjoyed.
Just trying to pretend that he actually enjoyedthe killing game or found human suffering “fun” or “interesting” was enough towear down his resolve to the point where he really couldn’t do it anymore byChapter 5. Having pulled the sort of unforgivable tricks and deceptions that hedid in Chapter 4 in order to survive was enough. It was too much for him, really, because even when he had literally every opportunity to throw Momotaand Maki under the bus if it meant getting himself out alive, he could not and would not do it again. He chose to diewillingly rather than doing it again, and I feel like that’s the clearest proofhe could ever offer that he really did hate the killing game as much as he saidhe did (in addition to his motive video, of course).
Because Ouma understood lies as a concept sothoroughly, he was very much aware of the fact that lies could hurt people, just as they could also comfort them or helpthem cope. Kaede’s lie about trusting the group and working together even whileshe was plotting an attempted murder, Momota’s lie about his illness despiteknowing that he was making himself into a figure the group relied on and wasdependent on, Himiko’s lie about her emotions and grief to the point where shewas actually running away from Tenko’s memory and only hurting herself in thelong run—all of these are lies which Ouma calls out over the course of theplot, and all of them are vastly different from a “gentle lie” or illusionwhich can stay up without hurting anybody.
As for how much Ouma lied prior to the killinggame… Well, it’s all a matter of speculation for now, but I would say I thinkhe always had this sort of duality to him even before the game. It’s just myguess, but considering how much of his character revolves around being atrickster, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if pre-game Ouma definitely had thissort of understanding about how lies were necessary comforts people tellthemselves in order to survive.
Even if he lacked the sort of superterrifyingly analytical side of in-game Ouma, I think the love for pranks andthe unwillingness to hurt others has always been there. That’s why “not killingpeople” or hurting them comes up even in his in-game backstory so much withDICE, and it’s why Ouma is one of the only characters we see whose objectivewas to end the killing game overall, because the whole concept of it disgustedhim so much.
In Ouma’s kokoronpa (thanks to @ouma--kokichis tomentioning this!), he definitely contemplates the nature of lying whilespending his time with Saihara. He even wonders for a time if he should stoplying around Saihara specifically—but comes to the conclusion that it’s far tooingrained into him and too much a part of his personality to stop. He wouldrather see if Saihara can ever come to like lies as well, wanting him tounderstand the full potential they have and the ways in which they can beaccepted as “reality.” Saihara in this kokoronpa event says he doubts he couldever really like lies, but will at leaststrive to understand them (and I would say that in Chapter 6 at least, Saiharadid come to understand the full potential and nature of “gentle lies” the way Oumawanted him to).
As you can see, it’s really hard to summarizeOuma’s entire thoughts on lying, because the nature of lies is as complicatedas the nature of Ouma’s true character. While he certainly did detest having tolie to himself and others in order to perform cruel and hurtful actions, healso understood and believed wholeheartedly before any of the rest of them thatlies were just as powerful and important as the truth. He liked the potentialwhich lies held, the fact that there could be endless possible explanationswhile relying on lies as long as things were in the catbox—but he also verymuch resented the fact that he himself was having to use lies as weapons inorder to further his agenda and play the killing game by the rules withoutanyone catching on.
So we still come down to…yes and no. He did andhe didn’t like lies, and it all depends on exactly which way those lies weretold and for what purpose. But I hope I got my thoughts across clearly! This isa question which I think ndrv3 is actually supposed to leave you wondering, given how tightly sealed in the catbox it is, along with many things about Ouma’scharacter in general. So by wondering this and wanting to know more about himand about why he lied or whether he liked lies or not, I feel like we’redefinitely trying to solve a mystery the game itself wants us to consider!
Thank you all for asking! I’m really glad if Icould clear up your questions, and I had a lot of fun being able to write aboutthis particular topic!
