Okay, so I wanted to discuss the situation with Alastor, his canonical sexuality, and fans.
I have seen the two sides alot.
So one side ships Al with numerous characters and sees this as casual fun.
And the other thinks this is disrespectful cause he is ace, or Aroace.
(I believe that he is Aroace. His va said so, his character has shown no interest in romance, and Viv may have confirmed it at some point)
Now, I am sex repulsed ace and I'm aro. And I have strong opinions. Alastor is my favorite character in Hazbin Hotel, he is also the FIRST confirmed ace character I've seen. (This doesn't include subtly implied characters) Because Al is the first and I care for him he is very important to me.
My opinion is really mixed because on one side it's; yeah, it is a fandom, and fandoms ship. It's what they do. Its also kind a rude to judge someone for their favorite pairings and stuff, in my opinion.
On the other side though I'm hurt. I am a queer person with basically no rep. And I hadn't realized how upset I was by this until I saw discourse over this character. I had FORGOTTEN that it was possible to have confirmed canonical ace characters. I had gotten so used to that just being a head cannon. And not only just an ace character but also an Aroace character. And not just that but a seemingly non sex favorable ace character. I would even argue he is sex repulsed.
My real problem with all this is:
Yes, I KNOW ace characters can have sex. But do you know who else can? Literally every single allosexual character. I KNOW aros can date. But you know who else can? Everyone else. The appeal of ACTUALLY having characters with the same sexuality as me is that they would be like me. Cause I and other aces like me never, ever get stories like that. So many times in media I would be enjoying a character who had shown NO interest in sex/romance and would suddenly be partnered up with another just for the heck of it. This has happened SO many times it's not even funny. It's incredibly frustrating.
So, the point I'm trying to make is that; YES, there are aces who have sex. HOWEVER, a large number of us do not. And it's like everyone forgets that. Your not writing Alastor having sex with Angel cause your showing the vast spectrum of asexuality. Your most likely writing it cause it's sex between two hot characters. It's simply maddening.
(One thing I wanted to say was, despite the fact that Al is ace i don't think it's bad to find him attractive. He is very pleasing to look at so I understand allos finding him hot. However I'm not sure where I stand with people sexualizing him. I think I'm leaning towards, 'please don't do it'.)
Now, the worst thing though is when I'm looking for content to enjoy. When I found out Al was canonically ace I was so happy and excited. I'm pretty sure this situation wouldn't make me nearly as frustrated if it weren't for the overwhelming amount of sexual content for Al. Some would be fine. I could just scroll past it if this were the case. But it is not. Content for Al is MOSTLY sexual. That's why I don't believe people when they keep saying they aren't invalidating aces because almost every time I go looking for a fic I have to scroll for HOURS just to find few non ship fics.
I can't even use the Asexual Alastor tag because all that does is bring me to a bunch of fics where the author is like 'he's ace trust me,' then proceeds to write smut.
Why can't I even use a tag made for aces without being drowned in smut. It's so frustrating! Like I'm getting to a point where I wish the authors would stop using the tag and openly admit they made him not ace for the story. Like I know your trying to not throw away his canonical sexuality but I mean at this point I think it'd be better if you did. And if someone is going to write sex favorable ace Al then please leave it to the aces. I trust us to at least weave it into his character instead of stating it and acting like it's there when it's not.
So basically: I don't mind if you ship him, just don't say he's ace or Aroace if your neither of those in ship/smut content. I'm sick of trying to find content that isn't sex/romance in Aroace tags!
I don't want to judge people for liking a ship. But I'm really tired.
ON A DIFFERENT NOTE, I would love to see content with Al and Lucifer. Like them hating each other to like frenemies. It would be so funny.
Anyone have any platonic content with Al and the rest of the cast???

My Thoughts on the Alastor Ace Erasure rampant in the Hazbin Hotel Fandom
Disclaimer i am one Ace and don't speak for all Ace's when I say the fandoms treatment of Alastor makes me uncomfortable. I was and still am open to shipping alastor with other characters. But the constant Acephobia and Ace Erasure I see in this shipping content is to a point where I have to point it out.
First off I'm so tired of the "loopholes" folks list off for why they want to write smut with one of the only cannon ace characters we've gotten in years. I had to blacklist "nonsex repulsed asexual alastor" on ao3 because they aren't even bothering to list him as greysexual. Sure an ace can have sex with a partner once or twice. But they act like nonsex repulsed means the ace person can be written having sex every other chapter. AT THAT POINT IT'S NOT AN ASEXUAL PERSON ANYMORE.
At this point I'd honestly prefer it if they just said their fic au is that he's a homosexual. Because half the time them trying to work in "he's still ace guys! he's just also okay with doing a different sex position for each day of the week!" just comes off as Acephobic. And the few times they write him uncomfortable with the start of the sex it just sounds like Acerape or corrective rape. "He just doesn't know he likes it cause he's a virgin." or "he's uncomfortable until this partner starts making him feel good". The WORST ones are the "heat" fics where they have alastor think about if he had proper control of his body he wouldn't want to be having sex right now. because at that point it's just a date rape drug and they are using a fanfic trope to FORCE him to have sex against his will. And it's just so fucked up man.
Yes he is only confirmed as Ace and not Aro. Viv is intentionally not saying he's Aro because she knows it's a lost cause to tell the fandom he's not romantically into people. Because fandom will ship him regardless. So she prioritized making it clear he's at the very least Ace in cannon and there's no plans to give him a partner in cannon. I feel like the HuskDust bits in the final series is because she saw how much the fans shipped alastor and angeldust after the pilot. Alastor was locked in as Ace by the time the pilot was released and she said it on multiple streams afterwards that he would be Ace. Giving AngelDust a different love interest target just seems like the easiest way to shoot down the biggest Alastor ship at the time without saying she's doing it to sink the biggest alastor ship. Of course fans just latched onto Vox and Lucifier but made it worse by feeling the need to say Alastor's ace before putting him in a sexual situations anyway.
Sexuals have thousands of cannon sexual characters to choose from, from countless other series but they feel the need to fight to make the one Ace guy have sex. We get an Ace character and fans immediately try to work around it to still write smut with him. Aces can't even have one character. I'm looking up fics about a psychopath cannibalistic serial killer because he's the only Ace rep I've seen in years that isn't just fan headcannons and I'm getting punched in the face with so much Acephobia and corrective rape, it's horrifying. Aces can't go through the tag of a cannon ace comfort character without facing triggering amounts of acephobia. And that's just wrong. How can the fandom see this as okay??
If he was a gay character constantly being written into a straight ship with people excusing it as "well sometimes gay guys will have sex with women" people would be up in arms about gay erasure. But because it's an Ace character that they personally want to still ship with characters it's not Ace erasure. He's just an Ace that likes to have lots and lots of sex.
ALASTOR IS ASEXUAL. If you are in anyway trying to write Alastor in character or close to cannon. Then he does not desire sex that is the basic definition of Asexual. But yall can't except this tumblr sexy man doesn't want to have sex (because everyone wants to have sex\s). So you bend over backwards trying to explain to an actual Ace person why we are sometimes pushed or pressured into sex and how that's okay. How it's okay for you a not Ace person to write this Ace character being forced into sexual situations. Because "sometimes" Aces have sex. You're right we do sometimes have sex. I'm not saying everyone has to write Alastor as a virgin. But he's had sex once or twice in the last 80 years at most. It's more likely he's gone the last 80 years without any desire to have sex at all. So to go from that to suddenly having sex even once a week is too much sex for him to suddenly put up with. God my Ace brain can't even wrap my head around having sex every week (do you sexuals really do that?). And I haven't gone 80 years free from sexual expectations. To expect Alastor to magically be open to a bunch of sex is ignorant at best. Regardless of what character or ocfemalereadersona you try to push him to have sex with.
I don't know what else to say other than that i'm just tired. Tired and sad. The Ace community should be celebrating the fact that we finally have another Ace character in media. A character the show and creator have openly and constantly confirmed is Ace. But instead we are having to defend ourselves from our own terminology being weaponized against us to erase that characters Ace identity for smut fics.

pls tell me more abt ur arospec ace attorney headcanons. my personal fav is lovequeer aro phoenix wright 4 loveless aro miles edgeworth.
Lovequeer Phoenix makes me SO happy!!! AND YESSSS LOVELESS ARO EDGEWORTH!!!!!! Aro4aro Narumitsu is hands down my absolute favorite flavor of the ship!! Oh my goodness!!! ARO4ARO SO TRUE!!!! Two aros absolutely demolishing amatonormativity with their level of trust and devotion to one another <33
Seeing this ask got me so excited to indulge because I'm aro so obviously I love projecting my community's, and my own, labels onto my favorite characters! But AA is something really special because there's very little canon romance which means lots of room for interpretation!!
(So a lot of my headcanons are a result of them just looking like the flags because the arospec community is full of beautifully colored flags I can't help but see everywhere)
Phoenix is recipro to me because any time he's shown romantic interest in someone it's pretty much always been when they hit on him first. Like the idea doesn't even cross his mind until then!! From what I've seen from recipro individuals this is a really common experience which is why it Makes Sense to me! I'm generally open to any and all arospec Phoenix headcanons because they just click with me (for obvious reasons, LOL)
For me, Iris is demiro because her whole story with Phoenix just screams it to me. She probably went in only hoping to get the necklace back from her sister's next victim and then she gets to know him as this kindhearted guy who would do anything for the people he loves and she falls HARD. I don't think they were "dating" the whole time which I'm pretty sure was confirmed by Iris herself but I honest to goodness believe they were lovey dovey in those last weeks or months leading up to Dahlia stepping in! I should also confess I'm a Feenris shipper, haha, so I'm biased on that front. Demiro Iris just means A Lot to me
Maya is aroace lesbian in that she thinks girls are really pretty!! And also in how she kept moving between the aroace and lesbian labels to the point she decided she'd label herself both. This one was mostly inspired by her going "omg that girl was so pretty" to just about every girl she meets which feels very, very sapphic LOL. I hc she's romance indifferent in the sense she doesn't mind dating but it's not something she actively seeks out! Though I think she'd love the meals that come with dinner dates- she's got food on the brain 24/7 after all (just like me for real)
Mia is pan angled aroace, more specifically greypansexual aro! Because she gives me romance repulsed aro vibes at first but her relationship with Diego (and possibly with Lana) would point to her being more romance ambivalent. Pansexual Mia is a headcanon I've had for a looooong time as far back as my first AA hc document while greysexual is a recent development. She's always been aro to me! Aro plant mom <3
Franziska is quiromantic to me. I mean, she's the palette of the platoniromantic flag! This headcanon only came about because of that 4koma comic where Phoenix makes Franziska flustered by telling her Maya's being strong for her because she sees Franziska as a dear friend. I just got the vibes. Also, the colors! I honestly don't think she'd see the appeal of romance with or without the feelings she can't distinguish. She enjoys her independence and I can't see her "settling down" in the slightest
Now, I've bounced around with where I think Edgeworth is on the aromantic spectrum. But I know damn well he belongs there! Lately I've considered Edgeworth being lithro gay, whether he loses feelings upon entering a relationship or doesn't want to act on them in the first place I'm honestly not sure. (Edgeworth is an interesting case for me because I flip flop between him having feelings or being omniaromantic lol) Probably never getting married regardless. Even before the lines about it I had my doubts! I like the idea of him marrying for tax benefits but outside of that.. I can't see him ever entering a traditional marriage let alone traditional romance. It feels out of character for him
There are others but these are by far the most developed ones! Recipro Phoenix and aroace lesbian Maya are my favorites because they feel the most accurate in regards to canon but pan angled aroace Mia is also up there. I'm probably going to post more arospec headcanons as I come up with them because y'all seem to really like them and I like talking about em!!
Thank you so much for asking!

I really enjoy seeing aro spec headcanons!#this is pretty much it for ones I've thought out to some degree. but I will inevitably think of more the longer I play these games#this ask is pretty old btw it's been in my drafts for about a month or so I think. but I've thought about it a lot!

Hi. Demisexual and somewhere on the aro spectrum and also general nerd about sexuality.
Asexuality is not the absence of want for sex. That's your libido. Asexual purely means you don't experience sexual attraction. All this means is you don't look at a person and think "oh, they're hot, I'd tap that".
Asexuality is also a spectrum, including grey (rare) and demi (after a connection is established). So someone can still be asexual and experience extremely rare sexual attraction.
And you don't have to experience attraction to have sex. Plenty of allos fuck people they aren't attracted to. While many asexuals are sex-repulsed, they are not mutually exclusive. Some asexuals are shockingly horny.
There's also a million reasons to have sex that don't involve attraction. Expressing romantic affection, wanting to be physically close, if you think it feels good, to please a partner who is into it, etc.. And for someone like Alastor there could also be aspects of manipulation, feeling control over someone, and seeing someone willingly vulnerable to him without him having to do anything.
Alastor is not confirmed as aro, so it's not really an argument, but then there's also that spectrum akin to asexuality.
Alastor has shown repulsion to sex with one character, Angel Dust, who is hypersexual. I'm mildly sex-repulsed (it fluctuates a little) and Angel makes me uncomfortable sometimes too. There's a difference between being uncomfortable with sex and being uncomfortable with being sexualized, as Angel does. Alastor actively choosing to be intimate is entirely different from Angel coming onto him. Almost no one likes being catcalled, but that doesn't mean they don't like flirting. Same kinda thing. Context and intensity matter.
Also like a quarter of Alastor shipping material isn't even sexual/romantic, but queerplatonic, which if you didn't know is a committed platonic relationship akin to dating but with platonic feelings. There's SO MUCH QP RadioApple and RadioRose out there.
You are minimizing an entire spectrum of experience down to one common but non-essential trait rather than actually listening to the community. As a trans person, I'd hope you'd know better than that.(ex. truscum/transmeds insisting you aren't trans if you aren't dysphoric)
Hell, as a canonical ace character, writers and artists could be using him to explore their own sexuality and relationship with sex and romance. There's nothing wrong with people exploring.
Some people just think the dynamic Alastor has with certain characters is interesting. And that's fine. He's not real. He is canonically ace and fans writing otherwise don't change that. If fandom had that power, Dean Winchester would be gay. Alastor remains ace rep whether fans ship him or not.
I also read fanfic, and even in most stories of Alastor in a romantic/sexual relationship, he's still written as grey or demi, never or rarely having experienced attraction before, and some also have him sex-repulsed, exploring how a romantic relationship might be navigated between Alastor and a partner who might have more interest in sexual activity. And that can also be an escapist fantasy for an asexual person; having a partner who will love you and stay with you and respect the boundary of no-to-minimal sex with kindness and understanding.
Also, for the record, Viv likes ship art on the bird app. A lot of RadioStatic/Silence and RadioApple is in her likes. She made the character, I think it's fair to consider that too.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
BIG EDIT BECAUSE I EXPLAINED A LOT BUT REALIZED I DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION
I personally only mutually ship RadioApple, and it's entirely because Alastor has a unique dynamic with him. Lucifer, with no effort, has Alastor breaking his composure and dropping his first swear in the entire show. They have a very funny back-and-forth which is fun to watch. And they're more alike than you'd think at first glance. There's also the whole joke about Charlie's two dads which there is literally a whole song about.
And there's a lot to explore with the potential in their dynamic. Lucifer is still in love with his ex-wife who left him who knows how long ago, and Alastor seems to have some unknown connection to said wife. The drama! Alastor has likely never experienced attraction before, and Lucifer has been in ONE committed relationship, so neither of them would recognize romantic interest unless it slapped them in the face, which could lead to confusion, misunderstandings, friendship, bickering, forced antagonism, and lots of other fun scenarios. Lucifer is also just so genuinely sweet that were he to get that close to Alastor, I'd have no doubt he'd respect his boundaries in regards to physical affection. And honestly, Alastor actually being vulnerable with someone when he's always wearing a mask is really nice when done well.
But they were always going to be shipped, because Viv knows fandom culture and genuinely you don't do this without expecting the characters to be shipped
This is just asking for someone to be like "noooooooow kiss!"
And as much as I don't personally like it, I can see RadioStatic's appeal. Vox definitely has something for Alastor, and they were on good terms at one point, so the concept of reciprocated feelings is fun for some people.
And honestly, I think people mostly ship romantic RadioRose because they don't realized queerplatonic partnerships are a thing. Or they're just incredibly hetero-minded. Could be wrong though. But those two totally give off "married for tax benefits" vibes.
But whatever the fandom may enjoy, none of it makes Alastor any less asexual, nor does shipping him automatically mean his sexuality is being disrespected.
Ok. So I realized I kinda was a closed off asshole after finding a poll that was opposite of what I thought I knew
And I realized i was I'm the wrong
So I'd like to open my dms or comments to anyone who liked to explain to me why they ship alastor despite him being aroace
