Just read a conference paper that mentions fictionkin and... does a fantastic job at completely misunderstanding the phenomena and confusing it with KFF, but worse than that is that it uses a grand citation of a TikTok for that part. How is this going to be a foundational part of your paper's point when you can't even be half-assed to actually look into it. One of the authors has a PhD.

#Who needs good scholarship when you can say a lot of words and pretend to know what you're talking about?#If you don't have a reliable foundation then the rest of what you build up is fundamentally meaningless!#But this does function as a great source for talking about how KFF destroyed the fictionkin subculture and community at least.#And it ties in pretty well to my discussion from my capstone and ye olde lecture about how academia has so many blinders on for what they #WANT otherkin to be that they continuously misinterpret it to the detriment of everyone even in the face of opposing evidence and research.#Jeeeeeesus christ man. Like, hear me out guys. AU where there's no NoCo, but Cody had at some point a tiny crush on Noah (explains the cuddling in the episode between TDA and TDWT anyway). So, you know. 20. Has your OC ever done something terrible and lied about it? Did they run away or blame someone else for it? How long did they maintain the lie and did the truth ever come out?

of course

grimm's done some nasty things, but it's exclusively along the lines of brutalizing or killing people (as a weapon does), and most of which happened while it was at the end of the casimir family's leash during its teen years.

i have a hard time saying if it's lied about things because after it ran off on its own, grimm hasn't told anyone about who it was or what it had done. it's an outlaw and still beats people up or kills them if it needs to (because what else is it good for), but it's one to lie by omission, and even if someone manages to get a "life story" (heavy emphasis on "story") out of them, no one would draw a connection between them and the casimir heiress who was found dead years ago

they didn't stick around to find out what happened after they left the casimirs, and it's not until later in p3 of the actual story (so over 10 years after it left) that it has to face some of those people again

#asks #anonymous #this one has also been in the drafts for. awhile #i told myself if someone asked this specific question for grimm i would draw a comic and then i never did that hgklfdhg #grimm's a fascinating character because their external self is pretty carefully constructed around everyone but yarrow #even in the beginning their facade is off-balance around him bc they're acting somewhat selflessly for once and their relationship #exists outside the sort of transactional working relationship it has with nearly everyone else #but the story is either from grimm or yarrow's pov so i don't often get to really articulate what grimm is like outside of that?#and even here i don't think i do all that much #i think most people's impression of grimm is that they're a traveller on their way to (whatever destination they made up) who picked up #work on the way. i draw them looking intense/scary a lot but it's really just like. they have enough of a resting bitch face to not seem #very approachable (like yarrow is) but it's not enough of a glower to draw attention or seem like the scariest person in a room #if that makes sense #i always feel like i end up rambling with these and like. half-answering the initial question dhsgklhfd #grimm #honeybee
