okay so!! I’m gonna try out the tiniest new format change.
to help differentiate between muses in posts, I’m gonna start using emojis at beginnings of posts. it’ll most likely look something like this:
[💕]- text here
I will be sure to update my muse list to have the emojis by the names they’re matching.
#( ooc. )#if yall have better suggestions lmk#I don’t really make graphics and I don’t always have resources for icons#so this felt like the easiest solution

RULES.
going to try and keep this pretty simple & straightforward.
I. You must be 18+ to interact with me. I am 42 years old.
There will be not safe for work content on this blog of the sexual and potentially of the graphic violence nature. I do tag everything that might be triggering and am happy to tag whatever you ask me to so long as I remember!
I ask that you tag any visuals containing spiders with spider tw* spiders tw* arachnophobia tw* etc etc and yes, I know it’s a weird one but anything about the taste of soap or eating soap is a trigger so just tag it with soap tw* or penny don’t look* as I have that blacklisted too. I don’t have any triggering fcs or what not.
II. This blog is multi-ship, multi-verse, crossover & au friendly.
Every ship is in its’ own verse unless previously discussed with all parties. Every thread or set of threads takes place in its own universe unless previously discussed with all parties.
III. I write anything from one-liners to novellas, it really just depends on life, my headspace, how much sleep I’ve been getting, how much else I have going on in real life, etc.
IV. My activity is NOT consistent. I am infamous for blog hopping. I have literally replied to some starters / replies two years+ after they were originally written. I am not fast. If I am fast, it’s by some small miracle and perfect storm of brain, muse and free time. It will not last.
V. I have kids, cats and dogs; I am in college, I have a household to take care of and I have many physical and mental handicaps that can affect my ability to function and write, including but not limited to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, ganglion cysts, torn meniscus, migraines, hypothyroidism, PMDD, nerve damage, herniated disc, ADHD, depression, anxiety, C-PTSD and severe insomnia.
Roleplay is something I do for fun.
If it isn’t fun, I don’t do it.
If it’s stressing me out, I’ll avoid it.
VI. I do graphic commissions.
I run @tuppencetrinkets where I post the millions of screencaps and 200x100 icons that I make. The resources are free but donations are always appreciated as I pay about $40 in hosting / program fees a month. My commissions are always pay what you can. I hate setting prices because I want everyone to have pretties if they want them and I don’t know what anyone can afford at any given time. I do everything from base icons to edited icons, backgrounds, headers, dividers, promos, videos, you name it. I try to be quick with turnaround but again – sometimes I just can’t be.
VII. I am fine with plotting things out in advance or winging it. I really don’t care, whatever you are more comfortable with is fine with me.
I like all kinds of plots. I like fluffy things, slice of life, broships, frenemies, enemies, familial, found family, long arcing, one shot throwaway, dark and twisted, you name it plots. I will not write n*ncon or anything nsfw themed /even hinted at with minor characters and I won’t write any explicit child death etc. but most everything else is fair game.
VIII. You can throw a million memes at me any time you want to.
IX. You can throw any and all starters at me any time you want to.
I’m not necessarily mutual exclusive but I don’t guarantee I’ll respond to memes or starters from non-mutual blogs.
X. I use icons, headers, promos etc. that I make myself 99% of the time. Please do not use any of my edited graphics. All base icons I use are free and available on my resource blog.
XI. I use small text and my icons are 200x100 with empty space to make them 540x130 so that they don’t stretch out on mobile. I prefer not heavily edited replies in terms of font variance and colors but really don’t care that much.
XII. I’ve probably forgotten relevant things but, who knows.
XIII. No drama. Period. I’m not interested.
XIV. I’m here for fun. I’m really pretty easy going. If you have any questions feel free to toss them into my inbox!

{ Laws of the Land: }
Please read these before interacting. (:
My blog is PRIVATE && HIGHLY SELECTIVE. Right now I prefer to write with MUTUALS ONLY but I AM currently open to NEW INTERACTIONS. I usually write && talk with someone OOC for a while BEFORE FOLLOWING to make sure we vibe.
I’m HIGHLY SELECTIVE with PARTNERS/FOLLOWS. I’m trying maintain a cleaner dash this time around.
By stating that I am PRIVATE: I reserve the right to work on the things that speak to me the most at any given time. I’ve had a lot of stress recently && this is a coping thing for me. I will write what I have MUSE for.
Typically I will NOT start something unless I know I have MUSE for it to avoid dropping THREADS && INTERACTIONS. I’m simply focusing on things that I have the most juice for.
sidenote: This means that while I have a ridiculous number MUSES && VERSES, I’ll be sticking pretty close to my MOST ACTIVE LIST unless we have heavily established PLOTS && CONNECTIONS OR I have explicitly offered to give you a MUSE OR VERSE that is NOT on the MOST ACTIVE LIST. I post this list regularly, it’s easy to find on my blog.
My blog is currently on LOW ACTIVITY temporarily. I’m basically having to start over from scratch and I am disabled. I am trying to be on as much as possible.
However, I won’t be here 24/7, nor am I obligated to THREAD/POST/TALK all the time. It is not personal.
IMPORTANT: While this list is getting cut down for this blog– I have over 230 muses, 40+ verses, my blog is ALWAYS under construction. These projects are my passion, that’s why I have them. Don’t be a jerk and tell me maybe I should cut back. I operate how I operate.
My writing is PG-13 to Mature. It’s not always this way but violence, explicit language, substance use, etc. happen here. NSFW of all kinds. I’m 30+ and will only write with adult partners.
18+ only on this blog but I prefer 21+ or even 25+ partners even more.
IMPORTANT: I will NOT write SMUT with others. It may happen occasionally in drabbles I write. But not in threads. I don’t mind sexual references, headcanons, jokes, etc. But no threading with NSFW language. Fade to black for me.
The length of my writing tends to fluctuate. Para to multi-para mostly. You do NOT have to match me because sometimes I might not completely match you. Just how it is.
Sidenote: Do NOT give me one or two sentences if I gave you a solid paragraph. It makes it really difficult to adequately reply. I might write a one liner starter, but it will ALWAYS grow.
On the topic of ORIGINAL VERSES && MY POST SERIES FANDOM VERSES: I welcome anyone to take part in my ORIGINAL VERSES or my POST SERIES FANDOM VERSES. PLEASE DO, that’s why I created them.
However, do NOT steal my verses or post series for your plots. I work extremely hard to WORLD BUILD and develop these complex plotlines. DO NOT STEAL THEM && certainly DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THEM.
I do not mind if you and another person involved in that verse or post series with me write for the verse or plot but do NOT just openly steal them && start writing them with other people I don’t even know. I work my ass off for this stuff. Don’t be gross.
GRAPHICS IN THREADS: I use ICONS && GIF ICONS. They keep it cleaner looking && more accessible.
IMPORTANT: I have a very large number of UNDERUSED FACECLAIMS. For this reason, DRY POSTING WILL BE A THING OFTEN. I’m working to make resources, but it takes time and for some faces there IS no content. I also lost my entire hard drive recently, and therefore a LOT of my resources. It’s been a task to recollect everything and some stuff isn’t even out there anymore.
IMPORTANT: I AM HERE FOR THE WRITING NOT THE GRAPHICS. I should already know what your muse looks like if I’ve seen a picture and likewise, you can find pictures of mine.
NOTE: If my muse has no resources, I will make sure you know what they look like. But it will be dry threading.
I would hope that you would have ideas of your own. It works much better if we can feed off of each other and really go back and forth with plots than things being one sided. Sadly, this has happened to me a lot.
Sidenote: We don’t have to come up with something first but it would be nice if there was an idea. However, I won’t ever turn away an intriguing starter with no back story. Though, I might ask questions to make my reply as accurate as possible.
DO NOT GODMOD. I should be the only one controlling my character. I really hate when people assume they know my character and get them all wrong. Or even insinuate some prior history I never agreed to. Sounds ridiculous? It’s happened. If there’s a time it’s needed, shoot me an DM. I’m totally good with that.
I’m EXTREMELY SELECTIVE when it comes to ROMANTIC SHIPPING. I’ve been burned way too many times. My muses are my babies. If they aren’t feeling it. I am not going to force it on them.
You can find ALL of my MUSES romantic preferences on my MUSE DIRECTORIES including if they’re romantically shippable or not. I have several who are CLOSED. Chemistry. Chemistry. Chemistry.
IMPORTANT: I AM NOT HERE JUST TO ROMANTIC SHIP. I’m tired of only ever heterosexual romantic shipping– especially with my MALES. Come to me with bromance, familial, platonic, or enemy. I’m always looking for new connections to my muses. It helps them grow as people.
IMPORTANT: I heavily prefer LGBTQ+ romantic ships at this point especially as a queer writer myself. I’m real over the heteronormativity. If you come to me with a queer pairing I’m far more likely try it out.
IMPORTANT: Please give my FEMALES as much attention as you give my MALES. I’ve tried closing my MALES. I still get used for them. Especially to romantic ship. Treat my FEMALES the way you’d want yours to be treated. I’m always down for F/F interactions so we both win. I truly love female muses, I simply wanna get to use mine too.
Drama is pretty much a must, in the sense of the plot. I’ve had people tell me they don’t like it and that’s fine but without things happening, the story doesn’t really progress.
IMPORTANT: However! NO DRAMA OOC. No HATE.
NOTE: If I ever post anything you need tagged with a trigger that I haven’t, please don’t hesitate to ask. If it makes you uncomfortable I don’t want you to have to see it. Typically I don’t post traditionally triggering content. But just in case, let me know.
Last but certainly not least, I’M HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS. Seriously. I want to get to know you OOC. You guys are my friends and I care about you very much. I love chatting. Likewise, I can make a great soundboard. If you need someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate. You guys are so important to me. I’ve been on Tumblr roleplaying for about eleven years. But I’ve been roleplaying a lot longer. And some of my closest friends have come from writing with others.
These have been updated as of 03/18/25. I tried to make them more streamline and I really do appreciate you reading them. It makes writing together easier. If I find out you didn’t read them before interacting I will be less inclined to write with you. I read all rules before I follow someone or write with them so I expect the same courtesy. I know they’re a bit long but they are here for a reason.
Thank you!

there’s no question that photoshop is one of the biggest and probably most commonly used programs there is to make graphics. but unless you find a way to obtain it somehow, it’s not exactly cheap. there are some ways to get it for free but that’s not what i wanna talk about today. instead, i wanted to make this post to give some free alternatives you can use for your roleplay needs. i haven’t tried all of them myself ( because i do have a free photoshop license so i’ve been sticking with that for years now ) but i’ve done some research and decided to share this with all of you.
― PHOTOPEA
photopea is an online editor that’s actually strikingly similar to photoshop both in terms of looks / layout and features. of course it doesn’t offer all the things photoshop does but i’d say it gives you basically everything you need for your basic roleplay needs. you can import and export psds ( and other popular file formats ) and make icons and various graphics including gifs. now the great thing about photopea is that since it runs on a website, you don’t need to download any software and it is usable on all devices ― windows and mac, android and ios. it’s smooth and quick and ( if you know a bit about how graphic programs usually work ) pretty self explanatory.
PROS: no additional software needed / mobile friendly / can open and save psd files / easy to edit pictures / features various adjustment options and effects and filters and brushes / pretty much a ‘small photoshop’
CONS: ad banners can be annoying / no timeline feature ( that’s used for certain things, e.g. batch editing icons ) / you need a stable internet connection
― GIMP
again, gimp shares some features with photoshop although it can be quite overwhelming once you open the program for the first time just because it’s all very cluttered and it takes some time to get used to. it’s probably a good tool that lets you do lots of things but if i’m honest i never really got into it so i can’t say all that much about it. it doesn’t seem too bad though.
PROS: available on windows, mac, and linux / can open and save psd files ( although it may potentially corrupt files if you wanna open them in other programs again ) / features various filters and brushes / open source so there are lot of resources for plugins
CONS: ui outdated and cluttered / not exactly beginner friendly / uses a different color profile than photoshop so imported psds can look weird
― PIXLR
another web based program that works and looks similar to photopea but doesn’t offer as many features that you’d probably need for roleplay graphics. i’m still listing it here because it does seem to be a nice and easy editing program if you just wanna do some more or less simple things that don’t require tons of layers and blending and whatever.
PROS: no additional software needed / mobile friendly ( although the mobile version is different from the computer version ) / features various adjustment options and filters and brushes / you can open psds ( but they might look weird )
CONS: you need a stable internet connection / no masks and no grouping of layers and no timeline feature / some tools are slow / ad banners can be annoying
― PHOTO POS PRO
i can’t say much about this one because i wasn’t able to test it myself but from what i’ve gathered it seems to be a good photoshop alternative that offers a lot of different features. it also works with layers ( and is capable of using masks ) so that’s always a plus.
PROS: has different layouts for beginners and experts / offers tutorials / features various adjustment options and effects
CONS: only available on windows ( and mac if you use an emulator ) / export file size limits / can run slow at times
so that’s it. there are probably even more alternatives you can find with the help of a simple google search but these were the ones i could find that seem to work best when it comes to making graphics for your roleplay. if you ask me, photoshop is still the best options in my opinion ( probably because that’s what i’m most used to ) but i do understand not everyone is able to get it so i really hope this post will be useful for some of you. just try out what works best for you and as always, if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask. i’ll try to answer them as best as i can.

hello! please ignore my question if it bothers you, but i wanted to ask how you make your gifs so high quality? thank you for your wonderful graphics and i hope you have a great day!
Hello~ Thank you Anon for finding my gifs high quality ;;w;; I always find them so trashy compared to some of my mutuals that make such clean gifs. I made a tutorial a few years ago, but I changed my way of making gifs so here’s a new one ! Hope it will help you, I tried to be as accurate and detailed as possible, but if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send me another ask ! You can also try to read other tutorials on tumblr ! Have a nice day ♡ヾ(๑❛ ▿ ◠๑ )
PS: GIF TUTORIAL *updated*
STEP 1 : DOWNLOAD VIDEOS
First of all, you will have to download the video you want to gif. Since I make anime gifs, I usually download my videos on nyaa.si (720p or 1080p). Your video must be .mp4
STEP 2 : CHOOSE THE MOMENT YOU WANT TO GIF
So you open Photoshop. Go to File > Import > Video frames to layers. Select your video. A window should pop-up. This is when you will select the moment you want to GIF.
Check “Selected range only”. Select the moment you want by moving the sliders. Once it’s selected, click on OK.
STEP 3 : DELETING FRAMES
So you clicked on OK and imported the video to frames. You will have something like this :
Now you can delete the frames that you don’t want to appear on the gif. You just have to select the frame (will have a light gray border, like on the first frame on the pic below), and click on the bin icon which is below the frames.
Then, we will select all the frames. Go to the drop down menu and choose “select all frames”. The drop down menu is here :
With all your frames selected (all the frames have a light gray border), you can change the time. Most of the time, I use 0,04s, but sometimes if the gif is too short I change it to 0,05s.
STEP 4 : ANIMATION BAR TO TIMELINE AND RESIZING
After that, we will convert the animation bar to a timeline. Select all your frames, and click on this :
A timeline will appear.
Then, go to the right bottom of your photoshop, where your layers are. Select all your layers (=scroll up or down, hold shift and click on the last layer).
Now, go to Filter > Convert To Smart Object. You will have only one line in the timeline like so :
Then, you will change the dimensions. You go to Image > Image Size. A window will pop up. You enter the dimensions you want (540px, 268px…) and click on OK. I don’t know if it happens to others but when I change the dimensions, a white border appears around the whole gif, as you can see below (idk why).
So I usually increase the dimensions by 2 px (for a 268 px gif I choose 270 px for example), so I can crop the borders and still get the right dimensions for my gif.
STEP 5 : SHARPEN THE GIF
Now, the important stuff. How to make your gif as HQ as possible. First of all, the settings really depend on the anime. Every now and then I have to change my settings because it doesn’t look good with this or that anime. BUT my go to thing to do is :
- Duplicate the gif : click right on the gif layer and choose Duplicate the layer
- Set the opacity of the above layer to 10%-30%. Most of the time, I use 30%, but depending on the anime, it might be too blurry in the end. For this gif of Itadori, I decided to go with 10%.
- Use the glaussian blur : Select the same layer and go to Filter > Blur > Glaussian Blur. A window will pop up, choose 1 px.
- Use Surface blur : now, you’ll select the layer below and use the surface blur (Filter > Blur > Surface Blur). The numbers may vary a lot here, because I want to make the gif look the cleanest possible but without erasing too much details. Most of the time I use 3 to 6 ratio, or 4 to 8, really depends on the details and the anime. Here, I’m gonna use 3 pixels and 6 levels.
NB : The gif might become a little transparent on the borders, so I usually create a black layer that will go below all the layers.
- After that, we will sharpen the gif. Select the same layer (the one below), you go to Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen. Then you just adjust the sharpening to your liking. As for me, it’s most of the time 120% (varies between 80-150%) and 0,3px. Be careful not to oversharpen. Your gif will look worse than if it wasn’t sharpened. I’m choosing 120% here.
- To make the sharpening smoother, I usually go in the blending options (double click on the little arrows next to Smart Sharpen, as seen below) and choose darken (the blending mode depends on the scene, on brighter gifs lighten might look better, try it and see what you prefer).
STEP 6 : COLORING THE GIF
You can save it as it is or color it so the colors are prettier. For that you will use the settings there :
Or you can use a .psd already made (you can download them on resources blogs). Here, I’ll be using one I made. So you open the file (File > Open) and you select the one you downloaded. Click on the folder of the psd and drag it on your gif.
Be careful ! The more you change the colors, the grainier the gif is gonna get. You can find some tutorials on how to color gifs on tumblr, I’m definitely no pro lmao I usually click everywhere until it kinda works out ^^’
STEP 7 : SAVING THE GIF
Now it’s time to save the gif ! FINALLY ! Go on File > Save for web. You will have a lot of settings. First, before saving make sure the looping option is set on “forever”. Then, be sure that your gif is NOT wider than 10Mb (i think it is the latest limit, i’m not sure ^^’). If it is, try do delete some frames or adjust the colors, select pattern… Play around with the settings until it’s under 10Mb. Then, click on save and it’s done !!!
#tutorials#i hope it will help you !!!#I'm definitely no pro but I did become better with time#have a nice day Anon !#replies#anon

so the adventure zone was recently picked up for an animated series.
hooray! good for the mcelroys. i’m glad they’re getting more mainstream. i’m glad they’re able to financially support themselves and their family with this fame. i’m glad taz has a chance to get new fans! i’m glad fans get to see some of the most iconic balance moments animated!
i also think it’s a monstrously bad idea.
(this is long and this may seem pretty mean and radical, but please read before fighting me on any of this. also this isn’t an attack on anyone that’s excited for any of this adaptation stuff! it’s good to be excited for this success. but also there are some things to consider.)
okay! so, up front: i think the taz animated series is a bad idea. i also think, retrospectively, the graphic novel was a bad idea. also i think the vox machina origins comic and animated series are bad ideas.
okay so this is going to get. a little long and rambly. but i’ll try to keep it organized.
1. TAZ Graphic Novel
now, when the first book was announced, i was excited! i’m still excited for the next one. aside from the blue/green elves thing, which i won’t ever forgive, carey’s doing a great job adapting this piece. i’ve met her before and she generally does know what she’s talking about, comics-wise, so i do think she was a very good choice to pick up the graphic novel
there are still problems! oh, are there problems. for example, i think everyone in the novel is characterized in a wildly different way than the original podcast. i can also get into this later if people want to hear about it, but! people have picked at that one before.
out of all the adaptations i’m going to talk about, this one is the best!
2. Vox Machina Origins
alright. context. i don’t know if i’ve said this on this platform before, but i’m a comic book artist (my big project is coming out this year, i’ll announce it on here, that’s not the point of this rant). and i bought the comic on a whim! it was a christmas present to me.
now, i know a lot of people read it and enjoyed it! and that’s great. i’m happy you got joy out of the book, really. i think every piece of art means something to someone, no matter its popularity or quality. and it did well, as far as i know! so that’s very good for CR and its fans. also i think pike is hot.
all that aside, the comic does suck very much.
i could go into a deep analysis of it (i CAN, if enough people actually want to see that?) but tldr: it’s rushed, both in production and story pacing. the character art is good! but you can see the shortcuts. the lettering is. awful. (that’s mostly a problem of modern comics in general though)
and i’m not blaming anyone at CR for these problems! really, if dark horse wants to pick up an adaptation, any writers from the original project should be heavily coached on how to write for a new medium. i’m not blaming matthew for that one! i know from firsthand experience that comic writing is different from anything else you will ever write, and is so difficult to get correct. as far as i knew, matt had never written for comics before! it would be really nice if he had some more resources to get this done right.
but that would cost money.
and that brings me to--
3. The Vox Machina Animated Series
wow! look at all that money everyone raised for this animated series. this animated series that the creators said they were raising money for so they could do it independently. hope they don’t go pitch it to a bigger company to do m--
and, it was sold to Amazon.
like, it didn’t even take them a month.
and in the current climate of how animation is bought and sold, i understand the need to sell it to a streaming service! you need a platform to let people view it, and youtube is in the shitter with its copyright stuff lately, so it makes sense to go private to keep your show safe. and then, you can maybe make more episodes after you run out of kickstarter money. i don’t hate that idea!
but amazon...hm.
it’s probably fine, right?
3.5. Wendy’s
haha remember when CR got sponsored by wendy’s and played their shitty rpg that wasn’t even balanced properly and then people called them out for it and then they donated all the money to a cause wendy’s hated to make up for it (good on them!) and then deleted the VOD off youtube? gosh, good times.
money makes people do strange things.
4. TAZ Animated Series
so, peacock has taz. sure! that works. it’s not the best company to pick this up, but it’s also not the worst. i’ll take that. i looked up the guy that’s slated to direct this and i don’t think he’s ever directed an animated show? which isn’t great, but that’s not what i’m worried about.
you know what i am worried about?
these big corporations don’t care if these adaptations are any good. they just want to cram as many iconic moments from your quirky, small-owned d&d podcasts to get you to give them money. for the mcelroys and the CR crew, it’s a passion project. to amazon and dark horse and NBC, it’s an investment.
you’re going to buy the book to see vax and vex bicker!
you’re going to tune in to watch magic brian!
you’re going to want to read pike meeting scanlan, of course!
you want to see “phantasmal and resplendent” animated!
here’s the other thing. when i see people talking about the animated series, this is exactly what they’re looking for.
“i want to watch merle dirty talk the plants on screen!”
“i want to see the taakitz date!”
“i want to see magnus do the julia scene...”
now, this mindset isn’t bad! no, if you’ve been thinking this, that’s okay! it’s really not my personal thought (i think adaptations are best when they DO change things in the story to better fit the new medium they’re going on) but it’s fine.
we might get tom arnold!
but you know what we’re not going to get?
we’re not going to get apologies and revisions when something goes wrong. we’re not going to get cute extra scenes because that would require more writing. we’re not going to get the same respect for the LGBTQ+ characters on screen. the people working on this show will not get paid what they’re worth.
we’re probably not going to get a trans actress for lup.
we’re probably going to see less of carey and killain.
we’re probably going to see even fewer black and brown characters than we already have.
why’s that?
because it’s a money project. they’re doing it for money. and they want to reach as wide of an audience as possible, right? “really, we need to cut back on this gay stuff so that straight people aren’t uncomfortable. we need to stay more moderate on this project so that more people will watch it!”
(that was sarcasm)
now, NBC has had some good shows! but that’s really the responsibility of their individual writers, and it’s usually in spite of the companies they work for, and not because of them.
once an author or an artist sells their project to a company for adaptation, they often lose all rights to input from it. i don’t know what the mcelroy’s or CR’s contracts are, but unless they have better lawyers than NBC or amazon.....they probably got shafted somehow.
it’s not a mcelroy product. it’s not a CR product. don’t pretend like it is.
you can enjoy it, but please be cautious. this is just a pile of money in a cheap taako costume. don’t trust it as much as you would the podcast.
tldr: individual creators are always going to make more genuine content than corporations that buy those creations for larger adaptations. it’s okay to enjoy these adaptations, but please be aware that it’s not going to have the same spirit or heart as the boys talking about masturbation on a filler show they did quickly so justin could go support his wife in labor.

All right, ladies and gents and non-binary friends! The fact of the matter is, I’m currently struggling to make ends meet. I’m not going to lie about that. I have no job, no money currently coming in at all. At least not from my end. I’m not going to let it keep me down, but I am going to look to you guys, to the people of Tumblr, for a little help while I try to get my life in order.
So I am opening up some fairly limited commissions. And by limited, I don’t mean ‘limited time offer’ or that I’m going to limit how many commissions I take. No, nothing like that. Instead, it’s going to be limited to what I know I can do well right now, and may open up for other things later. That being said, let’s get started!

Have you ever wondered what your muse would look like, if they were a dragon in the Spyro universe? Or maybe you’ve wondered what you would be like if you lived in the Dragon Realms. Well, wonder no more, friends! Because that is exactly the kind of commissions I am offering you! It’s been a lot of fun for me to try to translate other characters into Spyro-verse dragons. Typically they’ve been humans to dragons so far, but I’m willing to do absolutely any kind of muse! Animal or alien or humanoid, throw them at me!
So yeah. I’m starting with Spyro-verse dragon/dragonsona commissions, since it’s the easiest for me to do right now, and they’re the ones I can get done quickest for the time being. My computer has been buggy lately, so while normally I would offer other options such as icons or rp graphics, I can’t include those at this time. Even if I do have a couple icon commissions that have been unfinished for months.. But anyway! Without further ado, let’s talk prices!

All right, so I am offering these commissions in a few different ways, but I’m not going to put the prices too high for now, because.. well, I need to get people to start buying first. So, I’ll start low and maybe move up as popularity grows, I dunno. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Anyway! Commission types and their related prices are as follows.
Basic Sketch - $10 (+ $5 for any additional characters, + $1 for large weapons or accessories)
Example:

Inked - $15 (+ $5 for each additional character, + $1 for large weapons or accessories)
Example:

Inked & Shaded - $18 (+ $5 for each additional character, + $1 for large weapons or accessories)
Example:

Inked & Digitally Colored - $20-$30, depending on complexity (+ $5 for each additional character, + $1 for large weapons or accessories, please allow up to two weeks for coloring, I have limited resources)
Example: Currently N/A
Full Scene, plain sketch - $30-$40, depending on complexity, usually features up to three characters in the base price (+ $5 for each additional character, + $1 for large weapons or accessories)
Example: Currently N/A
Full Scene, inked lineart - $35-$45, depending on complexity, usually features up to three characters in the base price (+ $5 for each additional character, + $1 for large weapons or accessories)
Example: Currently N/A
Full Scene, inked & shaded - $38-$48, depending on complexity, usually features up to three characters in the base price (+ $5 for each additional character, + $1 for large weapons or accessories)
Example: Currently N/A
Full Scene, inked & digitally colored - $40-$50, depending on complexity, usually features up to three characters in the base price (+ $5 for each additional character, + $1 for large weapons or accessories, please allow up to one month for coloring, I have limited resources)
Example: Currently N/A
Expression Sheet - $20, comes in a basic set of six, can be ordered in multiple sets, each additional set costs $10 if bought in a single order
Example: Currently N/A

Now, I am also offering something in addition to just making the drawings themselves. Each commission, when finished, will be gifted to the commissioner free of charge, and in physical form. Yes, that’s right. Because I am going to be doing these commissions by hand and on physical paper, once they’re finished, I am going to ask you guys for an address that I can mail them to.
Now, I’m not asking you to give me your home address necessarily, unless that’s the only place you can receive mail, but if you have a P.O. box address I can send your commissions to, then that’s what I’ll be asking for. And actually, I should mention that this isn’t required. It’s just an added bonus if you would like the physical copy of the original work. But you don’t have to take it if you’re not comfortable giving me an address. I can also keep the physical copy, safely tucked away in a file of my work.
This might not include digitally colored commissions, but there is a possibility if I am able to access a place to print them. I do have somewhat limited resources, but I am always happy to give you guys the actual artwork that you pay for, and you don’t have to pay shipping fees. That’s the gifting part of the deal. All you’re paying for is the process, the time, and the artwork itself. Even if you don’t want to have it in person.
And that being said!!
Oh, but.. Wait. Just one more thing.
If you are under 18+, do not read below the cut. Any requests for these extra offers by anyone under 18 will be denied.
I am also willing to accept nsfw commissions. Yes, that’s right, folks. Considering that I myself am 30+ years old, I do not mind the occasional ‘adult content’ commissions. These commissions can include:
Nudity
Sex
Gore
Vore
Horror
or any other type of content that would be considered nsfw. But again, these are commissions for your Spyro-verse muse. Only for dragons this time. But if all goes well in this first round of commissions, I may open this up for other types of muses as well. And, if you really want, I will also offer self-insert nsfw commissions. I do not judge, and I do not refuse any ship or muse or self-insert content.
Unless you are underage. Which, I have no doubt that the under 18s got curious and read all of this too, so I will remind you guys that I will be asking for the ages of any of these nsfw commissioners, and I expect honest answers. Especially since I will be going through a three-day long protocol list for these commissions to ensure that I am not accidentally selling p*rn or other such nsfw content to minors.
And for those adults who get subjected to this three-day process, I am honestly very sorry to make this seem a bit inconvenient, but I’m sure you all understand that I am doing my best to protect the younger folks. I want to be careful, and I want to do right by the youth of today. But that being said, I also will be doing what I can to ensure that an adult isn’t buying a nsfw commission for someone under 18+.
I am treating this with the same level of caution and dedication, as if I were selling alcohol in a grocery store, which I have read up on the laws for, actually fairly extensively, so I do know how to manage this. I’m sorry to those inconvenienced by this, but if you’re really getting inconvenienced by an artist taking the necessary precautions to protect any minors, then perhaps you shouldn’t commission me for something nsfw. Just something to think about.
#art commissions#commission info#;; the jabberwock makes art (commission info)#i hope you guys consider commissioning me!#i look forward to working with you!

Mun Views
A quick warning. These views may be unpopular, or controversial, but they are subjective. 1. On formatting. Not necessary, but aesthetically pleasing as long as it's not difficult to read. 2. On OCs. Love/Hate relationship. I have several OCs myself, but I've had so many poor interactions with OCs and my canon characters. OCs can be incredibly well-written, but so often they're a glorified self-insert. Which isn't BAD per se, but sometimes can get uncomfy for me. 3. On smut. I think smut can and should be plot driven when written. Not sex for the sake of it, but an exploration of the characters in an intimate setting. It can be beautiful and rewarding, without crossing the line into porn. Which again, is not bad, but not necessarily something I want to write for my characters. 4. On your fandom. Some circles in the DWRPC are quite....... toxic. But I've been on tumblr long enough to have curated my dash and the people I follow. I enjoy the side of the fandom I'm involved in for the most part. 5. On exclusivity. I'm not exclusive simply because I love to see the contrast in different portrayals of the same character. But there's nothing wrong with people who are. 6. On 'burnbookisms'/anti-blogs. They're just an excuse for more publicized anon hate. 7. On hate. It's entirely unnecessary and cowardly and disgusting. I do not and will not tolerate it, ever. 8. On positivity. I think it's much needed, especially these days with everyone cooped up at home and slowly going mad from stress and anxiety and depression. Tell someone you love them and why. <3 9. On OOC posts. I make too many probably, but I like to get to know my mun friends. 10. On URLs. I like coming up with good urls, don't like "x" or "-" in my urls but to each their own. 11. On your character. This dumb bitch? Been writing him for damn near ten years now and I love him. Nine will always be my OG baby boy, but boy oh boy do I love Twelve and Thirteen, too. Writing them has kept me sane and alive at times. 12. On your own writing. I don't think I'm a spectacular writer, but I have my moments where I sit back like, "shit yeah that's good." 13. On following back. I don't follow back EVERYone, but if it's a character I would be interested in writing with, heck yeah. 14. On one-liners. Not my cup of tea. I'm a para person all the way. 15. On tumblr. It's a weird ass place, but it's really the only form of social media I fucks with. I don't have a twitter or an insta or a tiktok. I'm an old millennial, sue me. 16. On roleplaying in general. It's one of my favorite hobbies and it has gotten me through some rough patches. I've made plenty of real life friends through it, and even met my wife through roleplay. So I'd say I'm pretty okay with it. extra: 17. On multi-muse blogs. I've got one, so......... 18. On side blogs. I've got several so........ honestly, I think multi-muse and sideblogs are so helpful especially for nd people who struggle with organization and time management. So I'm always here for it. 19. On icon/gif/image use. I love using icons, not as much gifs, but PLEASE, either make your own graphics, pay someone to make you some, or source graphics from resources that are designed to share them! Do not steal gifs, icons, or graphics. That's shiiiiiiitty. 20. On 'popular' blogs. Again, love/hate. I'm pretty sure my DW blog could be considered "popular", but some blogs with hundreds of thousands of followers produce a lot of content, but it's mediocre. I prefer to have a relationship with the people I write with, and with popular blogs, I'd feel like just one among many. Most of the big blogs I follow are art blogs, or graphic or gif-makers, not popular RP blogs.
tagged by: no one, I stole it tagging: @conduitandconjurer, @immortalled, @mstinteresting and anyone else who would like to do it!

The Basics of Slidedeck design!
Slides are something that are used in businesses, school, or even fun occasions. But an aesthetically pleasing slideshow can be a hard skill to learn and it can be frustrating if you don’t know what you’re doing. Plus sometimes you want your slideshow to be a little extra special compared to the same themes you’ve seen a hundred times over.
Here are some simple tips that take minimal effort, but can help you customize a stellar presentation!
I. Templates
Picking a good template that fits the theme of your presentation is a great starting place for any slideshow. Here are two of my favorite websites to find hundreds of slideshow themes: Slides go and Slides carnival
You can edit any template by going to Slide > Edit Master in Google Slides (you can do this in PowerPoint too!)
In this window, you can edit fonts/colors/design and it’ll apply to any slide that has that template.
I used an example from Slides go, but if I edited the colors (or even moved, deleted or added shapes if I felt fancy) it would make this basic template be different than other presentations even if someone used the same template as me. Even just editing the colors makes a huge difference! Again, all changes you make in the slide master will automatically appear to all slides that use that template.
II. Pictures/Graphics
Pictures and graphics can help enhance your slideshow, but you shouldn’t put so many that it’s distracting. Most importantly, they should relate to your content as best as you can. Here’s two websites I use that improved my slideshow graphics:
Unsplash.com: Unsplash has high quality images that are free to use. I usually enlarge the pictures to make a gorgeous background on my slide.
Flaticon: Flat icons are my go to in presentations because they help streamline the look of your slides (especially when you have multiple points). You can sign up for a free account and change the colors of any icon!
Here is a slide with images:
And here is a slide with flat icons:
See the difference?
Although the first slide isn’t too messy in this example (it definitely can get messier in real life with so many different images on one screen), the flat icons can simplify your slide and make it look more cohesive when you have multiple points on one slide.
III. Colors
It’s important to use colors that convey the emotions or relate to the theme of your presentation. For example, if your presentation is about marine biology, dark blues and mint greens can help convey that theme. If you’re not really good at picking cohesive color palettes a good rule of thumb is to stick to 2-3 colors max in your presentation (this includes the background color - which people often make white, but you could definitely experiment with another color!)
Make sure to use colors that compliment each other or an accent color that contrasts to highlight certain points in your slides! If you have trouble coming up with color palettes I always just Google or you can use Coolors.co to generate color palettes with a hit of the space bar.
IV. Fonts
There are two different types of font: Serif font and Sans Serif font.
Serif font has the little tick marks (think Times New Roman!) while Sans Serif has the more modern (no tick) clean look. There are some rules of thumb for when you would use one vs. the other, but it’s kind of in the nitty gritty of typography so I won’t get into it in this post (you can read about it here though if you’re interested!). Serif font gives a more traditional, established look while Sans Serif is more modern. So think about your message or the theme before you decide!
In terms of readability, the rule of thumb is generally serif fonts are better for print (that’s why the New York Times uses it) or for body text because the little ticks help guide your eye. And sans serif fonts are better for titles or text on a screen (often apps will use sans serif font because they’re on a screen!). Here’s another source that explains this in more detail because it can be more nuanced sometimes.
There are hundreds of combinations of fonts so it can be really hard to find the right pairing, but there’s plenty of people who have suggestions for good font pairings already! Here’s my favorite resource for font pairings (FontPair).
...
And there you have it! Four easy things that you can do to your slide shows in a few minutes that will help you customize a beautiful presentation!
I’ll be doing more posts about improving slide deck design and structure so follow my slide deck series if you want to see more!

a vent (feel free to ignore if it's too much!): so recently i've noticed psd makers getting anon asks on whether they're ok with people who write certain topics (mostly rpf, incest, rape, underage, the usual "problematic" topics) using their recourses. now, i don't roleplay any of these subjects on tumblr, so even if a content creator said not to use their stuff, it's not even something i need to worry about - but, and maybe this is me overthinking it, what if i, someday, write a noncon fanfic on ao3? i'm still not using their resources on the subject or writing it on tumblr, but i'd probably feel weird about it, like i'm crossing some boundary. what if a psd maker whose content i've already purchased suddenly goes "actually don't use my psds if you rp abusive relationships", which is probably the closest to what people consider "taboo themes" of the things that i roleplay. it just feels like a fine line between personal boundaries and a shitty situation for a customer - not wanting to cross boundaries but already having PAID for something previously, when no such rules existed. it's making me want to 1. block everyone i see saying this, because even though i don't personally roleplay the topics above, i don't feel SAFE around people who tell others what kind of fiction they are allowed to enjoy and 2. just quit using people's resources and spend years learning to make my own psds so i won't have to worry about this shit. it's just stressing me out, as someone who has been harrassed and bullied online for speaking against censorship. i've had literal sock accounts made just to spew targetted harrassment at me on twitter. i've been accused of being a pedo and supporting incest and this is??? literally for saying "i don't think real people should be harrassed for fictional shit", i've not even shipped underage or incest ships. both make me uncomfortable. but fuck, antis make me 1000000x more uncomfortable than people who ship these kinda ships. i digress, this got rambley, i just. do you have any advice on what to do with the potential psd situation, or am i really just overthinking it? (always worried i accidentally send stuff like this off anon. help)
I need you to know that I actually had to rush-scroll back up and just double check that you did submit on anon lol! I always get worried I'll miss the one person who accidentally didn't use anon, if it makes you feel any better! When someone does submit with their URL attached, I message them first to be sure they are okay with them having it posted that way/it wasn't an accident ;) That's what I would want someone to do!
Alright, so, anyhow...
I've also noticed that becoming a more common thing and it's been on my (maybe huge) list of things to look into for a bit because I really do try to make sure I'm not just noticing things in my areas of the RPC/failing to notice things that do not impact me. Since I do all my edits and graphics, it falls into the first category for me. So, thank you for moving that up the list and informing me that it really is more prevalent and not my imagination!
My take on seeing it was a combination of business logic and anxiety, not going to lie.
On the first: charging to do a psd that is just that, just a psd file being used as a template/to act as an easier version of a photoshop "action" in a way, that's 100% legal and fine. Absolutely no muddy waters there. However, charging to do things like icons, edits, etc. that include images of celebrities and stills from movies (or gifs) is quite muddy. Legally, it's not legal. It's a thing we're allowed to do and use (on most platforms) because we're not making money off of it, we're not claiming to hold rights to the images, and so on - it's ignored but illegal. Charging money for it, however, even when phrased as "for my time" (which, absolutely valid feeling), is a more serious form of illegal and potentially attention-getting. This all gets more iffy though when we add donation instead of direct commission/purchase when working with these copyrighted materials. You can ask people to donate and suggest a donation based on your time spent, and that is always what I advise people to do.
Okay, so, that preface is necessary because the thing about stipulating use-rights is that they're iffy, too, there are variables present.
Often, these same people are charging for things like icon packs as well, meaning that even if they're only charging you for a template-style psd file sans imagery they don't own, they've kind of shot themselves in the foot. Not to mention, it's exceedingly damn hypocritical to pitch a fit about someone violating your rights when you're literally using other people's copyrighted materials lmao And that does tend to occur to me, yeah, it's a consequence of attorney friends and running businesses.
The other issues with this are that usage rights have to be stated at the time of purchase and morality clause-style shit, as pertains to products, is not legally binding.
When you purchase something like a psd file, that purchase acts as a sort of contract.
Think of like...buying a photoshop brush set - the person selling it puts very simple rules as to its use, such as: non-commercial use only, brush pack cannot be resold or distributed for free, separate brushes from the pack cannot be resold or distributed for free individually. Meaning that you own the brushes you bought, but you are not legally allowed to make real-life money from anything you use them in, and you cannot send the whole pack or files individually to friends for free or charge other people for them. By buying these, you have agreed to these stipulations of use and ownership.
If the person sells psd's and you agree to what they've stated about the use (you can't use them to do commissions you make IRL money from, you can't give them away to friends, etc.), that's binding even somewhere as casual as RP Land. The exchange of real currency makes it that serious.
However, there are limits to stipulations of use! One of those things is when you agreed - this person cannot, even one literal second, later change their terms of use and retroactively hold you to them. If they were okay with you not crediting them anywhere or using them in works you will gift others or charge others something like game currency for at the time you purchased, then that's it. Tough shit for them, not you, when they decide a month later that they want credit given where the work appears, that they do not want finished products gifted, or don't want you to make even in-game currency from them.
And that absolutely would apply to the morality wank, yes.
Except that this very morality wank comes with its own issues. Reality is not tumblr. In reality, at least in most instances and countries, you can't throw in a fucking morality clause regarding the buyer, use of item, or finished product.
Think of this in this way: Chik-Fil-A starts denying chicken and waffle fries to anyone suspected of being queer. They're legally allowed to run their business (as a private business, everything does have variables) with some things that are morally objectionable that they feel morally aligns with their religious beliefs. They're not allowed to deny queer workers a job or queer customers service, however, in accordance with overarching laws.
While "being gross" online in fiction is not like, making anyone a protected status person lol this is just an extreme example to drive home the point. Legally, when it comes to items/products be they digital or physical, your rights and responsibilities as the seller don't include your moral policing.
What your right is, is to make people uncomfortable to a degree, yeah. You absolutely can do that. You can state some nasty shit about prospective buyers you don't want. For example, they should (I mean, they should just grow up and get some real concerns, but) be stating that they would not like to see their psd's used by people on this following DNI list of idiocy, and they will block those users if possible to prevent interaction and purchase. That's really it, that's what they can do and the least immature way to proceed.
On the second: none of this logic would make me feel comfortable about interacting with them and their psd's in the future once they had outed themselves as morally objectionable and dangerous to me with this nonsense. And I would still feel anxious about using things I had previously bought because once harassed...it doesn't really go away, does it? It would just give me some ease about the latter with things I'd already made. Like, I could keep using the icons I'd made with those psd's with a little bit more comfort knowing that they honestly have not a leg to stand on outside of their harassment.
I might have the tendency to respond to harassment without much upset, but that doesn't mean I want to be harassed. Especially when I am not doing anything that draws that kind of attention. Not that harassment is warranted over anything, but when I make a PSA or answer an ask that I know is likely to get their attention and piss them off? That's an acceptable risk I am knowingly taking. When I'm just going about my life as a RPer, it isn't.
So, I don't feel like you're overthinking it or being too concerned! In no way did you sign up for getting unwanted attention, and because it has happened before, of course, you're trying to insulate yourself from having it happen again. That's totally reasonable!
Now, what you could do about it...
It's another of those situations in which we're only truly capable of controlling ourselves. Everyone else is kind of a NPC.
You don't have to do anything I'm suggesting, but these are things I would do!
I would block the shit out of anyone saying these things/trying to make them stipulations, yes.
By that, I mean that I would also visit blogs they appear to interact with and they'd be blocked as well. We can all reblog something like resources or a shit post from a user we do not agree with without realizing it, but when it's frequent reblogs, direct support, and friendly vibes going on, it's safer to assume that they are aware their friend sucks. More importantly, that they do not think their friend sucks and support their views.
Even if that is not the case, do you want someone else's repeated inattention to expose you to bad actors? Nope! So, don't run the risk of paying and otherwise interacting with the one resource blog in the group that doesn't express these views/"requirements," but does involve themselves with those who do.
Try to find people selling these resources, that are not connected to the problem ones, who do not have those views. Once a trend starts, it is very hard to stop until it has run its course naturally, so, this might be difficult and take some extreme effort. You might want to consider asking like-minded friends who use psd's where they got them so you can check those users out for yourself.
If they're all the same, problem, people...
Look for users well outside of your corner of the RPC(s) who are not asking to be paid. I know it sounds wild, but there really are RPers out there who just enjoy making things for others! I can think of at least one right off on my dash. They might not be advertising for doing psd's or psd packs, but either they might be willing to do so (especially if they do not appear policing-positive) if you explain what is going on, or they could at least fill some requests for you for fully made icons and such. Hell, people who love doing this work usually know others who do as well, and anti-policing people quite reasonably stick together. They could have suggestions for someone not vile selling psd's.
Depending on what it is you want your psd's to do, I promise you that it wouldn't take you very long to learn it. I know...I know lol that's both really easy for me say when I've been doing it for over twenty years and am about to piss some people off. The latter because the most common settings on popular psd's are extremely simple shit, a lot of that is the kind of thing you're expressly told not to do in design work. Like ramping up extreme contrast, pixelating the fuck out of an image, and turning up the primary colors only. Once you get to playing with photoshop or an equivalent, you will totally see what I mean. You can accidentally make an icon look identical to something that is on trend in the RPC. If that was what you were going for? You've hit the mark, and it's just repetition and tweaking it here and there!
Once you start playing with it, too, it's actually pretty intuitive when it comes to the basic things like resizing, adjusting colors and contrast, and doing easy effects like blurs and sharpening. Frankly, playing with it is better than half the tutorials you'll find because they get unnecessarily complicated when all you want to do is crop your muse's face, overlay some color, and add a damn dotted border. Listen, like I said, I have a lot of experience...and I find many tutorials frustrating and overwhelming!
It is not just you, you're not dumb or anything. People get very comfortable with something and when they try to explain it to others, they use terms and methods that are more advanced or specific to them than they realize. That's all!
If you have friends who make their own things, ask them some very basic questions about what you want to do. They know you, so, they'll know better how to explain to you, specifically. Just keep it simple until you've had some time to experiment! Ask things like, "I want to take this image, resize it to be an icon, and add an orange tint to the image while sharpening only my muse's features...how would I do that? Easy mode?"
And! You don't even have to pay for photoshop or pirate it anymore! Photopea is as an exact copy as possible entirely located in your browser for free. It's all overwhelming at first, a real case of too many options and ways to do the same thing, but the only way it gets less overwhelming is just diving into it. Dive in, get a little frustrated, have some successes, make some awesome discoveries, it gets a bit addicting in short order. Then, the tutorials and tips are so much easier to figure out and expand on, too.
If you'd like, you can always send me a pm here and ask me. I'm happy to try to explain how to do things, zero judgment or impatience. Just an additional option if you both decide to try learning and would feel comfortable doing that. Zero judgment as well on not wanting to do either of those things!
Okay, this one is much harder than learning PS basics because it's honestly a bit terrifying...the way these people are, they're going to take issue with you no matter what you do, and in the end, if they notice you and feel like bothering you, they will. There's literally nothing you can do about it. All you can do is try to buffer yourself, stay away from them, and be aware that you are not the problem.
Like with the AO3 thing or writing what could be viewed as toxic relationships. You can never write or be interested in a single, solitary thing that they're on about (and accusing you of doing in real life when the burning Eye of Moron turns your direction), but to them, you supporting the right of other people to do so is just as bad as doing it yourself. To them, the toxic relationships not only would be problematic, they'd be problematic enough. Being uncomfortable with their policing and feeling unsafe because of it is, to them, a red flag of how problematic you are. Writing anything they've deemed objectionable (or reading or viewing it, for that matter) anywhere, doesn't have to be on this platform or RP-adjacent, doesn't have to actually utilize any of their materials, is enough.
They're absolutely including you in who shouldn't use their shit. That's part of the "logic" and methodology of policing. Everyone is problematic, so, everyone can be labeled a pedo and harassed without too many people getting up in arms about it. No one is safe, so, everyone better behave. You don't actually have to be engaging with or enjoying things like underage, non/dubcon, rape, abusive relationships, etc.
It's gross, it's bullying, it's actually a problem...and there isn't much you can do.
All that is truly up to you is making an effort to avoid them, though, this is very often unfair and likely to get more unfair as resource blogs of all sorts deal in it more. At least, in this case, you do have some small bit of actionable power - by not ever buying from them. They wouldn't be charging if they did not either need or want the money, not giving it to them is a bigger hit than things like simply unfollowing/blocking, reblogging PSA's, and so on is!
Nope, it isn't like you're denying them some extreme amount of money by yourself, but every three, five, ten dollars is felt pretty hard when you desperately need money and/or are saving for something.
I know, I mean, I personally do know, that it's impossible to "get over" bullying, Anon. I'm in no way telling you to just get over it and move on, find some great well of not caring somewhere! What I'm saying is that there is power in not giving them power. The power to make you anxious, uncomfortable, unsafe, when you have every right to be here doing your thing and are not hurting anyone. And it might seem to be a deeply contrary sort of logic, but realizing and accepting that there are people out there who irrationally dislike you for literally no reason, that you cannot infallibly escape or avoid, despite doing nothing wrong is a bit empowering. Because it puts into perspective the things you can control, and when we know what is in our control, it's easier to just enjoy our time here without constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. If it drops, we can go put it back in the closet where it belongs.
It starts to put a positive spin on the whole, damned if I do, damned if I don't feeling, if that makes sense? I'm probably way too tired to try to be explaining this lol I'm sorry!
Anyway, again, I'm not implying you can or should do any, let alone all, of those suggestions! I just really hope that something will help you feel even a little bit more at ease. It's an unfair situation, it isn't right, and you have every reason to be uncomfortable and stressed. If I could make it happen, you better believe that every policing asshole out there would be writing heartfelt apology letters and sending donations to everyone they've upset lol but...since I can't make that happen, all I can do is say what I, personally, do, would do, or have done.

The Tumblr Beta Version: an objective analysis
I was tempted to just type “it sucks.” And while that is an objective analysis, it’s not exactly helpful. I’ve sent several requests to @staff and @support to restore my account to the old tumblr dashboard format, and received the same automated reply twice now. I’ll copy/paste it here so everyone is on the same page:
(lol, I had to go back and edit this, because apparently the beta version doesn’t display block quotes on the dash. So I’ve also put the block quotes in italics... hopefully it’ll display properly... note after editing: nope, it doesn’t display italics either... how the heck am I supposed to differentiate quoted text? I’ll start each quoted bit with an asterisk, I guess...)
*Thanks for reaching out about the beta dashboard.
*We're currently testing it out, and your account seems to have been selected to take part in the test. Thanks for your patience while we work on it! At this time there is not a way to opt out of testing. You may see your Tumblr experience return to normal as we continue testing.
WE CAN ONLY HOPE.
*In the meantime, check out some of the new features available only in the beta dashboard:
OKAY TUMBLR, IF YOU INSIST, though I would MUCH rather have back all the functionality I personally invested into this website through xkit... you know... making the site ACTUALLY FUNCTIONAL. Let’s see what this beta version has given me instead of functionality:
*Change Palettes: Go to the person icon, then click "Change Palette." You'll find the classic Tumblr blue, dark mode, and a few other color palettes for your dash.
So I tried out all the color palettes. In addition to the ones mentioned here, there’s one that’s trying to look like a green screen terminal that gives me flashbacks to the early 80′s. There’s a reason we stopped using green screen terminals... Another one is “canary yellow.” It’s very yellow. The “classic tumblr” isn’t actually classic tumblr... all the post boxes are dark blue with grey type, not white with black type. And all the other colors are the insanely bright fluorescent of the new Dark Blue standard tumblr scheme. Which means links are practically invisible unless I highlight them. It’s migraine inducing. The one theme with a light colored background is called “Concrete” or “Cement” or something like that and even that only works for about half an hour before the migraine aura really kicks in. I just want my Old Blue via xkit back. You know, what tumblr actually used to look like. I don’t want any of these horrible color palettes. None of them work for me.
*The new "meatballs" menu: This is where you can copy the post link, unfollow the Tumblr who made or reblogged the post, or report a violation to our Community Guidelines.
I could do all of this from the user menus with xkit, too. I don’t regularly report violations or have the urge to block people I have chosen to follow. Why on earth would I want to do any of this? And why would I want these features located directly beside the post link copy feature?
You know what I do miss? I miss the xkit timestamps feature. I didn’t have to hover dangerously close to the KILL IT WITH FIRE meatballs menu in order to see when a post was made, and in this era of disinformation and misinformation spreading around this site faster than Covid-19, being able to see when a post was ORIGINALLY created is a far more useful feature than an easier way to block people. For reference: I currently have three blogs blocked. Two of them are pornbots. One is a nazi. If I don’t want someone’s content on my dash, I don’t follow them. This “feature” is entirely useless to me.
*A quick note: Pagination is not supported in this beta test, but we're collecting feedback to send to our engineers.
THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST. This beta test might actually be tolerable if I wasn’t trapped into endless scrolling. If I could page through my dash, refreshing it every ten posts or so. You know why? Because once I scroll about 30 posts down my dash, tumblr starts overheating my laptop under the load of ALL THOSE POSTS. Things start malfunctioning-- it takes longer and longer to load new posts the farther I scroll. And the keyboard navigation (both page down and hitting J to advance to the next post, and even just using the down arrow to scroll as I read a long post) freeze and stop functioning. One of my laptop fans has actually begun to malfunction.
You know why this wasn’t a problem on the old version? If the data load got to heavy, I could open a post in a new tab, click view on dash with xkit, and voila! Brand new tab! I could close the malfunctioning tab and everything would be refreshed to normal! But without pagination, THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Also, after reblogging a few posts, the beta version of this site breaks, and doesn’t open a post tab to add commentary or even tags. It just... reblogs the untagged post with no warning whatsoever. You know... that’s really really not cool. I tag EVERYTHING. Well, almost everything. The tags are the only way to keep track of the 40k+ posts on my blog. And warn people that I am posting potential spoilers, or other specific content. It’s REALLY inconvenient to have to either immediately go to my blog to edit the post and add tags, or even comments. The alternative is to scroll up to open individual posts I want to reblog in a new tab, and then reblog directly there. Ironically enough, THOSE pages actually open with xkit installed, and everything (surprise!) functions perfectly there.
It’s perfectly reasonable to understand why this specific issue has limited the number of posts I reblog. Reblogging content should not be this much of a hassle. Creators have been complaining for a while that reblogs have drastically slowed down, and I think making it even more annoying and difficult to reblog posts will not help this problem.
Also, with xkit enabled, there’s a function that auto-loads images as you scroll, so the images are always visible BEFORE they appear on screen. I don’t have to look at the colored boxes and wonder if this is a post I’ve already seen or something I should sit and wait for. Don’t even think about watching tumblr videos. Loading priority is given to the ads that you cannot pause or dismiss, so that video loads and plays in choppy two second bursts instead of being given priority. Since that’s the content I am actually here to consume, it kinda makes me want to do the opposite of patronizing anyone who advertises here with graphically intense ads. And then when you scroll away, with xkit, gifs and videos you’ve scrolled past STOP loading and playing, which I think might be contributing to the intensity of the resource hogging that’s literally melting down my laptop.
And for reference, I have a pretty decent little gaming laptop. A blogging platform shouldn’t be driving it to the brink of frying itself. I didn’t realize just how much xkit worked to streamline this and provide basic functionality to this site.
*And lastly, if you're an XKit user, know that the XKit team is working hard to update things on their end to make it compatible with the beta dashboard.
And this doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what I’ve lost without xkit. And this is a really REALLY garbage response to user complaints. “Oh, yeah, sorry we made our site suck even worse, but those nice people who do our jobs for free will surely fix our garbage soon!”
Dear wonderful people at @new-xkit-extension, I love you, and I miss you, and while I wish xkit worked with this beta version I’ve been forced into living with, I truly feel for y’all who are trying to deal with this nonsense on behalf of all of us.
And to the folks at Tumblr... maybe try to just... make your site actually more like xkit. You know, actually functional. None of these special new features are useful or functional to me. I respectfully request for a fourth time to be removed from this inane beta test.
Give us OPTIONS. Let us display ALL THE TAGS without having to click a button. Let me have back my Activity+ that actually allowed me to interact with people from my dash! That showed me real-time inline notifications in a way that I could reply to with a single click! Bring me back to my column of open messaging conversation icons so I have easy access to the people I talk with throughout the day instead of closing them all every time I refresh the page. I already feel socially isolated in freaking quarantine, please stop shutting off all my avenues of communication!
Let us have pagination! I mean, maybe it wasn’t the best idea to force heavy users of this site into a beta version that doesn’t allow us to opt out until your engineers had actually figured out how to make it work in a very basic way.
*Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!
YES. PLEASE REMOVE ME FROM THIS BETA TEST NOW. I have let you know exactly what I want from this site. I just want it to ACTUALLY WORK. For someone who spends 12+ hours a day on this site, this beta test version is NONFUNCTIONAL. PLEASE ALLOW ME TO OPT OUT. I AM LITERALLY BEGGING YOU. I WILL ACTUALLY PAY YOU CASH MONEY TO ALLOW ME TO OPT OUT OF THIS AND GO BACK TO HAVING A FUNCTIONAL BLOG AGAIN. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!
PLEASE!
I AM OFFICIALLY AT THE END OF MY PATIENCE FOR ENDURING THIS NIGHTMARE.
(one final quick note... I’ve only been back on my dash long enough to make the parenthetical edits-- i.e. adding italics that don’t display and then adding the asterisks at the beginning of each section of quoted text, and already my laptop is overheating again. For reference, I originally typed this entire post from within my tumblr inbox page-- which still functions normally with xkit-- and spent over an hour on it. My laptop was fine the entire time. Clearly the issue is this beta version of the website. I will never forgive tumblr if y’all fry my literal only portal to the outside world at this time. PUT ME BACK TO NORMAL NOW. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INFURIATING AND ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE. Thanks)
(oops apparently i lied... when the asterisks and the previous final note failed to display, I thought that seemed suspicious, and realized that I literally needed to refresh my entire dash in order to see edited changes. Funny how xkit enabled me to do that in real time, which is just another bit of functionality I’ve lost with this beta program. Please guys, this is really, really not working for me at all, just put it back.)
#tumblr problems#staff#support#xkit#was this good enough for you? because I am totally done with this if that wasn't completely obvious#please end my suffering

20. Have you ever felt pressured to write something you weren’t comfortable with?
Mmm, honestly, yeah. Nothing lately, but in the past, yeah. Sometimes with my ex who used guilt when faced with the word no. Didn’t handle that word well. And lack of communication and just tossing a plot twist and getting mad when it annoyed me. Boo for toxic exes and writing partners :(( And def when I was younger, that need to please friends and stuff when writing something you just aren’t into but they are. Always messy and confusing and I regret not speaking up at the moment.
I do remember when I first started on this blog, there were instances that it happened with me as well. Where it started out fine but then after a while I felt a certain agenda being pushed and pushed and to the place where it was getting harder to respond bc it was just not what I wanted to do but being so new to the smut rp game I didn’t speak up and it was kinda clear that their needs were more important to them and not mine and they were more or less leading me into what they wanted out of the thread. So you know. It would get to the point where I physically couldn’t and yeah, I blocked. Since then I’ve learned more about what I want out of threads and partners, put restrictions and take my boundaries in consideration and more wary of people who try to go against them and it’s honestly made me happier. 23. Have you ever stolen something from someone else?
....does downloading stuff from bittorrent count? I don’t do that much anymore bc studios be snitching to my ISP all, “SHE’S DOWNLOADING SEASON 3 OF SUITS!!!!” So. I kinda stop that and use the PlayOn service to “record” videos from the streaming services I subscribe to, which is neat bc the default is as a .mp4 file and guess what format adobe photoshop takes? Yup. .mp4. It is a paid service, but only annually and I can dig that.
So I’ve never stolen like gifs or anything like that, if I find a gif hunt I make sure to reblog it as a resource, same with psds tho i think that was just one? I tend to just fool around with things myself in photoshop. The closest is, I had a shit ton of karen gifs from before i made the blog that i decided to use, so i don’t know where they’re from and so I don’t give credit, nor do I take credit. Probably all from like her Who and Selfie days and honestly mostly a place holder for when I make my own gifs of the shows and such, but I’m no where near there yet. Can’t wait , tho. Be chill, don’t steal 💕
10. Have you ever had a bad experience with commissions? As either someone who makes them or as someone who buys them?
I’ve never opened myself up for commissions and I don’t really go into buying them, I rather just do them myself as I kinda like making my own graphics and such. I did have a very weird experience on a long forgotten blog before faye, with one guy i wrote with who had such weird vibes but i dismissed it until I was contacted by someone who did commissions that he bought an icon pack for me out of the blue and that was....no. I couldn’t dismiss the weird vibes anymore and so I blocked tf outta him lmao. If money gets involved without my asking or consent between partners, it makes me wildly uncomfortable and makes me think they got motives. Like, I’m not here for your money, I’m here bc we wanna write.
we being really honest here, this is why i shouldn’t reblog this meme but skdfjsdkfsjfd
#crystalballl#i got your message and hitting you back ( response )#idek i'm just writing anything and everything#really discovering i learned a lot over rp and about trusting people#and learning to distrust#people are weird man

RULES.
going to try and keep this pretty simple & straightforward.
I. You must be 18+ to interact with me.
I do ship Clara/Doctor, Clara/Danny and pretty much anything ever honestly but don’t ever force ships so just lmk if you do or don’t! Clara is bi/pan.
V. I’m 39. I have kids, cats, dogs, guinea pigs; I am in college, I have a household to take care of and I have many physical and mental handicaps that can affect my ability to function and write, including but not limited to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, ganglion cysts, torn meniscus, migraines, hypothyroidism, PMDD, nerve damage, herniated disc, ADHD, depression, anxiety, C-PTSD and severe insomnia.
I try to be quick with turnaround but again -- sometimes I just can’t be.

A Guide to RPing on Tumblr
I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately, so here’s my complete walkthrough on how to create a Tumblr RP blog.
If you’d rather view on a Google Doc, here’s a link.
Enjoy.
Create Blog
Howdy, so the first thing you’ll have to do is click ‘register’ and make yourself a blog. You also have the choice of making a sideblog instead. I’m a person who likes to have this separated, so if you are only thinking of playing a couple characters, this might be the way to go for you. Here’s the difference between main/side blogs (taken from Tumblr’s help center):
Choose any url for now (we’ll talk about that later), and go to the next section.
Please note: When you make a new blog, it won’t show up in the search/people’s notifications for a bit of time (a day or so). Make sure you validate your email address asap.
Get xKit
If you haven’t installed xKit, I highly suggest it. Go to their blog here, and get it for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Opera.
What is it? A little toolkit to make Tumblr easier to use.
When you install it, it’ll pop up on your top bar thing next to the lightning bolt like this:
It’s that thing with the x’s on it.
When you click the x’s this pops up:
Brill.
You can click ‘Get Extensions’ at the bottom and basically choose whatever you want, but may I recommend the following:
1) Editable Reblogs allows you to edit reblogs. Right. This is good because when you are replying to RP threads they tend to get rather long. Some advice that was given to me when I started: when you add your reply, delete everything before your partner’s last reply. So you should have your partner’s post and your post and that’s all. You just click ‘reblog’ and it pops up like normal, except now there’s this little guy:
If you click that, it will make everything in your reblog box editable.
2) One-Click Postage gives you a little box if you hover over the reblog button. It lets you reblog, queue, draft, tag, and add replies right from that page. You can even choose which blog (main/side) you want it to go to. It looks like this:
The rest I will just say play around with! They are easy to add and take away.
Decide what kind of blog you want.
Multimuse Vs. Single muse:
Do you want to play one character or a bunch of them? If you choose one character, your blog icon and theme will presumably feature that character or something to do with them. If you choose to focus on one, you should have info about your character available on your blog somewhere. If you choose to have more than one muse, you’ll need a list of the characters you offer and some info about them.
When choosing a url for a multimuse, choose something that encompasses the spirit of you and your characters.
When choosing a url for a single muse, I go for quotes, nicknames, something about where they are from, what they like, their name, etc. Note: if you have dashes in your url (like mine @strings-have-been-cut) these won’t work with tags. People will have to turn them into separate words or one big word.
I do not have a multimuse, but I have seen them done all sorts of ways. Some people offer characters from all different fandoms, some are just one fandom, one genre, OCs, canons, a mixture...you can do what you like.
If your blog is not affiliated with any sort of organized game, this is referred to as ‘independent’ often shortened to ‘idie’.
Your blog description should mention which kind it is. For example: a sci-fi multimuse blog; a Star Trek OC blog; an indie Bill S. Preston Esq. from Bill and Ted RP blog. Details help sometimes.
Canon Character Vs. Original Character
If you decide to make a canon character, make sure you have it clear somewhere where they are from! Canon characters can be canon divergent (your own version), they can crossover into other fandoms, they can be exactly as they are in your favourite book/show/movie/podcast...each version of a canon is unique and lovely.
If you decide to make an original character, make sure you give plenty of info about them! You want to tell people what fandom they fit into or if they are fandomless. ‘About’ pages are really important for OCs because there is no fanbase for them (yet!).
What should be in your description?
When someone clicks your blog, they will first see a dash preview sort of thing. It shows a description and a small header, along with the posts you’ve made. This description also shows up somewhere on your actual blog and on the top of the page on mobile view. It’s a great spot to give all the info about your blog real quick. I always include the following:
What is it? (Independent Data from Star Trek RP blog)
Age restrictions (21+)
Who you will RP with (mutuals only is called ‘private’ and choosing who you follow back is called ‘selective’.)
Mun’s name (played by [insert your name])
Possibly a link to your about/rules for easy access on desktop and mobile. I’ll talk about this more below. I call this ‘navigation’, but it varies. Note: if you edit your icon/dash header, any html links seem to go away. I’ve needed to go back into the theme customizer and add them back in. To add a link to your description, go into your customizer, go to the description section, and add the html as follows:
<a href=”url goes here”>link text goes here</a>
So mine is: <a href=”https://data-all-in-one.carrd.co”>Indie Data from Star Trek blog.</a>
The description for my Data blog reads: ‘Indie Data from Star Trek RP blog. Click here for navigation. 21+. Private/selective. Played by Fool.
What should be on this blog?
In my experience, you need a couple of pages on your blog to get you started:
About the character - basically a biography
Rules - so people know what you are about
About the mun - so people can know about the person they are writing with
Possibly a link to your ‘ask memes’ tag - see below.
These can be organized however you like, but people tend to look for a few specific things.
About the Character
This should read like a biography. Back in the day, we used to call them ‘character apps’ and they had all your basic info about the character. Sometimes this section contains a subsection called ‘verses’ in which the mun spells out what universes they exist in. Say I had an AU where Data owns an arcade in San Francisco in the 80’s. I’d list that as one of his ‘verses’. This is extremely important for OCs, but very helpful for canons too.
Data has four: TNG era, TNG movie era, AU where he lives after Nemesis, AU where he’s around during Star Trek: Picard. I gave a little info about both.
Rules
Rules are usually organized into the things people are looking for before they start playing with you. Some good info to include:
Mun age
Your policy on adult content
How you deal with tagging triggers
Your policy on following back
Your policy on writing with mutuals vs. anyone
Do you allow personal blogs (non RP blogs) to follow you?
How fast do you reply?
How does your tagging system work?
How do you deal with shipping?
Here is a link to my usual Rules page for reference. Remember, it’s not wrong if it’s different than mine!
Note: People will look for how old you are. Many people in the RPC are adults, and they want to write with people their own age. If your age is not posted somewhere clearly, they may not follow you back.
About the Mun
This is really just a little blurb about you. Some people include their age here. Some people include links to their other blogs. Some people include their Discord info, as that’s really popular right now. It’s just nice to know who you are writing with.
It’s important to note that there are different ways to present all of these blogs. Some people have them as pages on their Tumblr blog itself, some people put all of this (Bio, About, Rules, etc) in a Google Doc and link it, some people use Carrd.co - there are a ton of ways. A friend of mine did this amazing post about some options out there. I personally go for Carrd.co, seeing as I am on mobile a lot and I find it very helpful, but it’s up to you.
Now I have a blog with all the info. How do I get started?
Well there are a few things you can do to get yourself out there.
Make yourself a promo. It’s basically an advertisement for your blog. If you aren’t good at graphics, you can head to an RP Resource blog and see if they have any you can use with their permission. You can also just post a picture with some info. For me, the info on this promo matches that of my blog description - I want people to know what I’m all about as soon as they look at it. Then you can tag for your appropriate fandom RP. Your mutuals will likely reblog to help spread the word. Yay.
Find a directory for your RPC by searching in the search. This will allow you to a) reblog your info and be listen in a place where people can find you and b) allow you to find others in your RPC in an organized way. Then you can go through, find people you think you’d like to follow, and follow them.
Make a starter or plotter call. This is, again, just a picture or graphic and some information about it. Here is one I made for Data specifically asking for Picard threads:
I asked for a specific universe and a specific character here. I also put all relative tags in case someone is just searching Tumblr (although I think it’s more for the people who follow me). Here’s a simpler one I made for B-4 that’s a lot more open.
They don’t have to be super fancy.
When people see a starter call, they can like your post. This is a quick an easy way to let you know they are interested in a thread.
4. Ask Memes. Asks are invaluable. There are whole blogs dedicated to ask memes that you can post to your blog, and these can be really easy ways for people to come up with plot ideas or just to read some of your writing. I always keep a link on my blog to everything tagged ‘ask meme’ so if people want to find a meme they have choices!
It seems like there’s a certain aesthetic on these new fangled RP blogs. Do I have to do that?
No! But you can, if you want. If you aren’t good at coding and graphics, there are a lot of RP resource sites that can help you. (Can I recommend this one?) It is nice to have things like a face claim, a nice looking promo, a cool theme, etc. but at the end of the day, we all just want to write and have fun.
Advice?
Look, I’ve only been RPing on Tumblr for a couple of months and I am by NO MEANS an expert. I have gotten all of this knowledge through the help of friends and nice strangers willing to answer questions for me. Here are a few things I have picked up:
Respect people’s rules - We are all shy and all have our own thing going on. If someone says they’re uncomfortable doing one thing, just like...don’t do it.
Talk to other people - Don’t ignore the mun! Unless they really want you to. It’s better to ask questions, compliment writing, talk about your plots and stuff...it’s so much harder than trying to figure out what the other person feels/wants.
Ask questions - I’m a 6th grade teacher, and I get a million and fuckton questions every minute usually. It’s been eye-opening, because now I’m all about asking questions about everything all the time. I think knowledge is amazing. People know all different things, and the most logical way to be a productive society is to share knowledge (that’s one of the main teachings of Surak) so ask some questions! Hell, ask me some questions! Reach out to someone who seems nice!
Okay, that’s all. Good luck!
