I hate to ask but who is hua Chang

Hua Cheng is the deuterantagonist of the Chinese web novel Heaven Official's Blessing! It's a historical fantasy novel about gods and ghosts and cultivators (xianxia) by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. It's also a gay romance (danmei). The main themes are destiny, love, and what it means to be a good person. It has a comic version (manhua) and one-soon-to-be-two seasons of animation (donghua).

He's an 800+ year old ghost who has a sentient sword made from his own dismembered eye, runs a city, turns his enemies into blood rain, creates silver wraith butterflies and has been devotedly worshiping/pining after his god, Xie Lian, his entire life. This book is the longest hyperfixation I have ever had. So I think it's pretty good (understatement of the century).

I can and have written essay length rants about him but here is a paragraph i wrote a while back about my favorite things about him, to sum up:

His gender probably. The way he looked fate in the eyes and said “fuck you, old man” and built a highly successful life of his own. How he is so fucked up but still hyper-competent. How all his strength comes from love. How his devotion changed as he grew up but never wavered. The way he is kind but not nice. His infodump swag.

Because he had the entire weekend off, due to you seeking the help of both Lilia and Malleus when your relationship was on the rocks. Saturday came around, and he had fallen asleep and accidentally stayed the night. He was freaking out, worrying that his Housewarden was going to be angry, but you showed him a text from the Vice Housewarden, that said he was given permission to stay over at Ramshackle for the weekend he had off.

That being said, you told him that you were going back into the snow today, and he let out a groan of annoyance. You should know by now that he preferred humid and warm climates, which is why he loved the Botanical Gardens.

But, this was your payback, as he had spent weeks ignoring you and choosing his schoolwork as well as the Prince over you. That last sentiment was understandable, as that was the code of a knight, but the former statement really hurt. It was like he would prioritize anything over you, and while you first excused it as him adjusting to being romantically involved with someone, it got to a point where you were done.

Anyway, you opened the front door, and a rush of cool air burst into the corridor. You heard Sebek shiver, despite being wrapped in many different layers. Grim was also shivering, but he had claimed that he only needed his scarf and gloves to keep warm. You called his bluff, but he stuck to his guns.

When Sebek had finally joined you outside, you immediately shouted, “LET’S BUILD A SNOWMAN!”

You managed to spook him with the sudden outburst, but he immediately started making a plan. He was going to make the base, as he would be able to roll it to the designated spot you made. You would get its midsection, and he would help you lift it up. Then, Grim would make the head out of snow.

And so you all split up. You had to head inside to grab a spare scarf as well as a carrot and buttons, and then you placed them on the ground at said spot. Then you started getting the snowball for the torso.

It didn’t take too long for Sebek to finish, nor did it take long for Grim, but the difference was that Grim found himself rolling as a snowball with the snowball. He was rolling down the hill, and he suddenly hit a rock hidden in the snow, and he was launched into the air. It’s not like he could aim away from you, so he ended up landing on top of you.

With a loud oomph, you landed on the ground, and your boyfriend rushed over to make sure that you were okay. It turns out that you were laughing as you, through giggles, asked if the cat monster was okay. The crocodile half-fae helped you up, checking over you to make sure that you didn’t sustain any serious injuries, and you just continued to make the torso of the snowman.

Eventually, you and Grim rolled your parts to Sebek’s part, and he helped you lift each part. Grim was insistent on lifting his own, so the knight lifted the cat who, in turn, placed the head on top of the snowman.

Now it was time to decorate it, and you grabbed the scarf and wrapped it around the snowman’s neck. Sebek shoved the carrot in the middle of the head, making it its nose. Grim helped with the buttons, and you smiled at the masterpiece. You turned to see your lover, and the tip of his nose as well as the apples of his cheeks were pink.

Maybe it was time to head inside.

You immediately started making some hot chocolate. You didn’t realize how cold you actually were because of how much fun you were having, but you couldn’t feel your fingers or toes. It felt like a Herculean effort to just blink. The aroma of the sweet ingredients wafted through the air, making the dorm smell amazing.

��I’m sorry…” That was a first. You turned to see the man who you’ve called your ‘knight in shining armor’, looking ashamed and guilty.

“For what, Seb?”

“For neglecting you, and that is the best way to say it so don’t say differently. You had to go to Waka-sama and Lilia-sama for Seven’s sakes because I was prioritizing my work over you,” He was getting a bit worked up, angry about his own failure.

“Just admitting your fault is enough-”

“No, it is not. I hurt you, which is detestable for a knight! What can I do to make it up to you?”

A moment passed of him being close to tears, and you had to hold in your laughter. But, you can’t really be blamed. For the longest time, the First Year who was now on his knees, begging for a way to get you to forgive him, had called you a ‘human’ in such a disgusted tone. Maybe the significant other effect is real?

The hot cocoa was finished, and you poured it into two mugs from the pot you made it in. Your smile dropped, a sombre expression appearing on your face in its place.

“Do you have time to have a cup of hot chocolate with me?” You asked, voice very close to breaking. You had to use both hands to steady the mug as you extended it towards him, and his eyes were surprisingly glassy.

“More than enough,” He responded, taking a sip of the sweet drink.

Your recent post about Odalia is so on-point. I bet her stans think the same. Many stans still think she is not an abuser and Amity is the problem. She's just a strict mother, not an abuser. It doesn't surprise me when most of her defenders are men who simp over her, especially that annoying mf who claims the show evilizes the fandom.

Oh I KNOW they think the same. It's the same people who LOVED mean girl Amity, then pulled a 180 and started hating on her once she got development. All while excusing Odalia's, the PARENT's, abuse and blaming Amity, the CHILD (and the twins too somehow).

That person literally said Odalia isn't THAT abusive and that her KIDS are just as bad? As well as how this generation is just too sensitive. These sound like excuses actual abusive parents give in real life.

Then there's how they talk about Alador. You can think he got off too easy, that the show downplayed his role in the abuse, I have my own opinions.

But these people SIMULTANEOUSLY argue "Odalia isn't that bad and should have gotten redeemed!!!" AND "Alador is just as bad her and shouldn't have gotten redeemed!!!" As well as saying that it was his fault for how she treated him. The same victim-blaming stuff with Amity.

And the thing is. I assure you these are the same people who LOVED shipping Alador and Odalia. They LOVED portraying Odalia as an innocent angel and Alador as basically her dog, her lackey, yesman who only exists simp to for her, dare I say. Her Ken.

But as soon as Alador dumped Odaila suddenly they hated him. Just like these same people LOVED portraying the Blights as a happy functional family. They LOVED portraying the kids loving and obeying their parents.

But as soon as those kids cut off their abusive mother? These people hated them too. They got so attached to their DELUSIONALLY out of character fanon and blamed the characters that actually changed for it (The same characters they didn't actually care about and constantly misinterpreted). And also got mad at the show for it. They act like it's a problem with the show.

They use the same mentality that an abuser would have when you think about it. They're mad the spouse didn't do everything she tells him and stood by her side like a good loyal pet. They're mad the kids refused to let their parents use them as their property like good loyal pets. They're mad the abuser didn't get to keep her pets.

And yeah you're right most of her defenders are people who simp over her. But also I feel like people who genuinely kin her? (Like that person I mentioned)

I'm pretty sure these people are just mad that Amity (and the twins) and Alador got redeemed cause they actually worked to CHANGE. But Odalia, their Queen, didn't because she didn't want to change. It's like a personal attack on them, they want to think you don't have to be a good person and people should forgive you anyways.

Rook is a Freedom Spirit Part 2: Elgar'nan

This is going off the previous entry I did about a week or two ago and I wanted to explore it a bit further with more of the Evanuris Part 1-> If Inquisitor Lavellan is Hope, Elf!Rook is Freedom

I'm going to just spit-ball a bit here on what I think might have been his prime motivations leading up to and throughout Veilguard right up until we stab his blighted ass. It's going to come off as fanfiction-y but that's literally the reason this theory came into my head....

I've looked into different forums and reddit posts looking at the possible origin of Elgar'nan as a spirit, and it's been widely accepted that he to be a spirit of Command, corrupted this becomes Tyranny. (Elgar'nan simps, no judgement, use that as you will)

In Inquisition, we actually can meet a spirit of Command in the ruins of Old Crestwood. The wraith is frustrated that nothing in this material would is obeying them. It is pompous and unrelenting. It says things like "I am in control of my fate." "I am called to higher things." "I am more. I am Command."

If Elgar'nan were indeed a Spirit of Command, and this is along the lines of his thinking, I'll try to string together his motivation here up to the very end of Veilguard. There were some huge bombshells shared with us thanks to the memories in Regrets of the Dread Wolf. We know that because the elves created bodies for themselves from the blood of Titans sparked an all-out war. But it makes me wonder at who would be the first to float on in and craft themselves a body. Who would have the balls to do that? Who would later have the conviction and belief in themselves to rally the elves and lead them into a hopeless war, then stand foward as a god king to rule them thereafter? Probably Elgar'nan as Command. Here's how I think this went down...

Command lives in Fade but has no body - so do other spirits - each can extend the will upon the energies at play - Command not quite so in control as he wishes with so many cooks in the kitchen- sees humans and they can control their surroundings by *gasp* picking stuff up with this thing called 'a body' - Humans don't always follow each others orders though - sees the dwarves efficiently carry out the titan's every whim - jackpot - steals titan blood - makes body for himself - 'hey peeps, come check out my apposable thumbs! I can pick stuff up! Come try it!' - more spirits want a body - demand too high - titans go on strike - war begins - spirits stubbornly following purpose even in new bodies - Elgar'nan mobilises everyone together to a singular purpose - elven forces unified but keep getting crushed - Titans are severed from the dwarves - war won - doesn't want to go into chaos again - steps up as God King so everyone can do what he says. Elven Empire created. Great success!

But spirits be spirits and those that are not enslaved fight to free those that are. And we see this play out in blocks through Solas's regrets; Evanuris use the blight from the Titan's agony and rage, Mythal murdered, Fen'Harel rises as a revolutionary, I'm sure the Forgotten Ones are in there somewhere, Veil erected etc etc.

Elgar'nan is trapped with the blight, with only Lusacan a conduit to whisper to the Tevinter schmucks, his kin die one by one over the course of thousands of years, the world is surely in chaos now without his guiding hand. But with every Evanuris dropping like flies, so does the Veil.

Here we see Rook's penchant for Freedom and Chaos once again. He and Ghilan'nain are freed, thanks to them.

Fast forward to Blood of Arlathan >>> Something that sticks out and feels so intentional is the long stare that he and Rook share after the elves are freed. Playing an elf and applying this theory, could it be one of recognition?

Freedom? Freedom means Chaos, those that ought to listen and obey him should see his would undone by such a force. Freedom must be extinguished, Chaos, cut down before it bears fruit. Rook must be faced and made an example of.

And so Freedom fights against Tyranny, just as Command fights Chaos.

So yeah I think it's really cool to think of Rook in this way, at least based off what I've experienced from my playthrough of Veilguard.

Who's your favourite black clover character and why?

More than that he is actually my favorite anime character in general.

He’s been close to my heart ever since starting the series in 2019 and he’s not once been dethroned from his spot as my favorite. There’s a lot about him that makes him so special for me.

This is going to be a bit of an essay but I got a lot to say about him HAHA

First off he is my fav archetype done right, and done the best:

I have a personal preference for the characters that are hopelessly flirty guys with confidence issues and emotional baggage. it’s just a trend for me. Most of my favs are this character archetype but done in different ways. I absolutely love Tabata’s approach to how he wrote Finral. He has such a wonderful way of bringing him in as a very simplistic character and building upon his personality and how he became who he was at the start, and continuously finding ways to beautifully motivate his development in such a very real way. The arcs where you see him slowly build himself up while fighting alongside Asta and Vanessa specifically are SO good for creating a new depth and feeling behind his tropes that make him so fresh and unique.

Simping AND Kinning:

Straight up required to say I’m just simply in love with him?????? He’s literally perfection for me. I think he has the most genuine kindness and pure personality I’ve seen written. I love how his fear and weakness transform through the series into a strength and determination to prove himself and protect the people around him.

And he’s so relatable for me. I genuinely sympathize with a lot of his story. His issues with feeling like he belongs and becoming someone he himself can be proud of hits home. Watching him grow throughout the series was a experience that I hold very close to my heart and it makes me SO HAPPY to see how far he’s come and knowing there’s more to come just keeps me going.

Sweetest Angel ever (Angel symbolism AWOOGA):

He’s just so nice, literally cares so much about his team and his friends. And don’t get me STARTED on his unending love and support for Langris despite all that’s happened. He just sees the best in his brother and doesn’t despise him for things out of their control and truly puts in the time and effort to build a healthier relationship with him. He is a simple man who wants to love and be loved. And this applies to his squad, his family, and his pursuits for love and I think he deserves to find that love and be happy in all areas.

Designs and magic wise the angelic symbolism alone and in contrast to Langris was such a beautiful and amazing choice. Tabata was COOKING with that. He truly does see himself as a “fallen angel” his story literally having him fall from “grace” if you look at it as grace being nobility. I just think there is so much symbolism and potential in expanding his magic using this connection and I personally love thinking about it myself.

He Pretty:

Overall I think he just has a pleasing design. I adore his hair over everything else. I love how it changes through the series both in style and color. As someone who changes their hair a lot I completely vibe with his reasonings for changing it too. Like yeah please add that color to give yourself a reinvigorated spirit and confidence for success. His hair looks so fluffy and I wanna feel it. (Personally love myself most when I dye my hair with green tips I love matching him it’s so nice hehe)

Outfit design wise I LOVEEEEEE IT the full color scheming is nice but the overall very Elven vibe with leaf motifs and the pointed boots is just MWAH 💋👌🏻. He just has a solid iconic look and it suits his vibes perfectly.

As an artist I love the experience of drawing him too. He’s so fun to draw and he’s got so much potential for expanding on his design outside of canon. (Drawing scars from the Langris fight is my fav thing to do) and at this point I’m so sure I’ve drawn him more than any other character EVER and I will not be stopping any time soon.

All in all I LOVE HIM. and he means the world to me. That’s my man and I will always be in his corner as the series progresses. I hope he continues to get moments to shine and I hope others will continue to enjoy him like I do.

Kaneshiro might appear as cold and unapproachable to most, but that is not the case for you, her lover. She is always soft, maybe even way too soft with you. No matter what you do, say, or act she is always going to give in to you. Maybe because she finds you cute. But I mean that was the whole reason this woman even decided to give you the time of day in the first place because you are cute. So that is to be expected. 

She is gentle and mature but extremely harsh, having been through so many hardships all of those years it is obvious it has made her that way. Although she is extremely kind only to you when needed, there are moments when she will bluntly tell you if what you are doing, thinking, or saying is in her opinion wrong. But that is also what you like about her. Her bluntness. Her way of speaking the truth when it needs to be said.

Despite her calm exterior, you can notice how her pupils expand a little when her eyes fall on your smiling face or how her fingers linger a little longer on your face after sharing a kiss. 

You can see a shift in her energy everytime you both go on dates, the excitement that only you can notice. How she adores it the most when you take her to a theme park, although there are no words spoken you notice everything, the rides she likes, the ones she doesn’t, when she wants to eat, and when she doesn’t.

As she knows your food preferences, sometimes she will try to adjust to that so you can also enjoy your favorite kind of food. Because she loves you so much, if you ask her to try it even if she hates it she will try it for you.

One thing you need to know is that she is extremely affectionate and her love language is touch, so don’t be surprised when she holds your hand out of nowhere or when she grabs onto your arm putting her head on your shoulder while telling you how much she wants to go somewhere only with you where you both can enjoy some time together in each-others presence away from everything.

Shelly although she doesn’t seem like it, she is shy about kissing you, but that changes only if you are shyer than her. Then she knows she has to take the lead so she leans to kiss you first whenever the chance arises.

Dating Noah feels like dating a kid with tantrums and an extremely colorful vocabulary. Let’s accept it though you find it funny and are always trying to keep your laugh when she is in that kind of mood. You know that it’s all an act to keep her true kind hearted self from showing. 

She doesn’t want to seem weak even in a relationship with you so although less than with other people she still acts tough. Yet you wish she wouldn’t try so hard to hide her true self from you. You came to terms with the fact that that’s how she feels the most comfortable so you just accept it now. There are times when you also purposely tease her, just to see her throwing those cute tantrums of hers. 

By the way, you are the only one who thinks her angry temper is cute no one else does, and once when you mentioned this to Harry and Owen they looked at you as if you had gone mad. Yep, no one gets it. Because you are the one dating her, and that means that even if very slightly she won’t be as mean and angry at you as she is to other people.

You are also the only person who can stop her from throwing tantrums and that is whenever you kiss her, hug her, say something sweet and unexpected to her, or cook food for her. Then when you do one of these things she will not only quiet down but she will be more affectionate towards you. That’s right you are the only one who knows how to handle Noah and the only one allowed to act with her like that.

Deep down Noah has a fragile heart and you know that more than anyone else as you have seen her break down once after you both fought and you suggested breaking up. After that day you have been more careful with your words, and you’re kinder and even calmer because now you know.

Noah loves it when you take her on dates, especially dates that involve food. Despite the fact that she doesn’t say it, she loves how sometimes you share your food with her, how you go and buy a bunch of all the things she likes, and how you even feed her when she is too immersed in her phone.

REASONS WHY I KIN LUZ NOCEDA SO MUCH (and maybe you do too, just didn't realize it)

(from minor things until deep things)

- first of all she is a huge geek nerd that likes cosplay and anime, like the main audience of this show

- spontaneous and easily excited with anything

- her friends probably call her "the sun of the group"

- latina

- she likes otters!

- she loves shipping

- gay panicks to all the genders

- she likes fantasy books with complicated side stories

- she became a writer at the end of the show

- a simp.

- she falls in love with a cute witch with colorfoul hair, honestly who wouldn't?

- Luz uses fiction to scape reality, and that's like SO OBVIOUS that even her must realize it too, but if you notice it, at human realm that is what keep her going without drowning in a possible depression. She had no friends there, she had nothing other than her mother (wich she was very lucky to be an amazing one) and her fantasy books. Yeah she probably knew her obssesion with fiction was too much, but she had no other thing to focus

- I think the owl house was the only piece of media I ever seen that pictured the feeling of "growing up as the weird kid" so perfectly. Generally the main characther is a nerd who has no friends and is bullied, but it never has a reason for them to not have any friends (not a reason like "oh they are so irritanting, that's why they don't have any friends", no, a reason like "they are seen as weird because they are VERY different from the rest of school, wich scare people away, and that's why they don't have any friends. It's not their fault at all". The second case is literally luz' case).

You see, Luz always had so much imagination, and she tried to show it the most she could to other people, I think she did it because she thought "Im gonna be myself, and someone will like me.... Probably". That scene in third season, of Camila remembering things, when little Luz shows the snake's pajamas to the other kids, she clearly did that because it was a subject she was SO interested in, she wanted to share it with the other children, they would find it interesting too and would want to be her friends, right? And then the kids ran away screaming, and she didn't get why

- When Camila wanted to send her to that camp, oh my titan my girl was so sad. When she dropped azura's book on trash, honestly I think that was so.... Meaningful. That book is so important to her, obviously because it was her father's gift, BUT it's even more than that, it's the whole symbol of her personality, the one little thing she loves so much, she stayed on boiling isles only to have a chance to live something slightly similar to what she always dreamed with.

When she throws Azura on the trash in front of Camila she is basically saying "don't worry mom, I will finally stop. I will stop trying to make friends by being what I am, because that clearly didn't and will never work out. I am going to throw all that I am away, so I can be normal like everybody wants". Getting Azura back isn't JUST for the plot, it symbolizes how Luz isn't ready to gave up from herself yet.

- In boiling isles Luz feels like she is in home, we all know that, but if you look closer, you will see it was there she become a people pleaser. In my interpretation, Luz is so happy she finally find a place where she has friends, a second mother figure, a brother figure, and people LIKE her (well most of them, except for bosha and stuff), she is so not used to it, she doesn't know what to do. People liking her so much as she likes them is so perfect she wants to do anything to not change that, that's why she sacrifices herself in a lot of situations in a lot of different ways for the people she loves.

If you dont think she is a people pleaser, let me remind you: when she made Amity loose her job at the library, Luz came back to there, faced all the challenges that creepy boss had for her, just to get Amity's card back. Eda told her explicity to not do any mess with the house while she was out, but Luz invited Gus and Willow to there anyway, only because Willow was too excited about that moon ritual, she prefers face the consequences of desobbeing eda than make her new friends slightly disappointed (probably because she thinks that if she commits any mistake, they will abandon her).

- In my point of view, her obssesion in befriending every enemy that crosses her also relates with the fact she is a people pleaser. I can be projecting (like all the rest of this text lol), but I have a strange wish that everyone on earth likes me, not only the people I like, but also the people I hate, I want everyone to find me at least a little nice or else Im not happy. Wich means I am never truly happy, because that is Impossible to happen

For what Im concerned, people pleasers think like that generally, so Luz probably thinks like that too

- Ok the puppet scene of the third season, I saw a lot of people joking with "Luz realized that wasn't amity because she wasn't autistic enough lollll", yes I know, but that scene is so deep for me oh lord. Her worst fear is to be abandoned by her friends, the people she would die for, when she sees it happening in front of her, she doesn't even think "wait this looks weird, this doesn't look like my friends at all...", no, her head doesn't even suggest that, because in Luz' mind, that scenario it's what she deserves, the "weird" situation is the actual reality, where none of her friends hate her, she doesn't understand why they don't.

Luz realized they were all puppets because Amity mistoke an Azura's quote, not because all that incredible people were being mean to her, because she thinks she doesn't deserve any of them.

- Also in third season, my favourite scene of all time, the one that made me cry, when I heard Luz saying that, I finally realized what I needed this whole time: "The only thing I've ever really wanted.... Was to be understood"

This quote is SO SO SO SO SO MEANINGFUL, OH MY TITAN. Not even Luz understood herself, do you guys get that? She didn't know why she just couldn't be normal like all the other kids on school, she didn't understand why she insisted so much on being herself when all that did was to cause her suffering. But when Camila said "my biggest mistake was trying to change you", she finally realized why she never gave up of herself: because there was nothing wrong with her.

She is not a bad person, she is nothing like belos or whoever, she deserves to receive as much as she offers to everyone, she doesn't need to think inside the box, she can continue to be weird forever and there is nothing wrong with that. For us that's all pretty obvious, but for her it's like a dream that came true to finally realize that.

The main reason why this cartoon is my favourite is because of Luz. I feel really connected to her (if that makes sense), that's why Im so obsessed with her. At the finale, she ends up capable of balancing her "boring life" of human realm with boiling isles, that makes me fill up with hope that maybe one day I find happiness at my "boring life" in here, while balancing it with fiction in a healthy way.

Luz is the best main characther of all time and I will never be convinced otherwise.

The sounds of screams, canons and other such weaponry being fired was the last thing I remembered before I passed out from fear. I look out towards the horizon, towards the sea, searching for the armada. But they are gone. With a frustrated huff I begin to inspect the pile of dirt that was once my home. Bodies, both of the Spaniard soldiers and my own people littered the ground. At least I knew we fought back. I try not to look at the corpses of my kin, afraid that I may just die of heartbreak should I look too long. But I knew they were there. I find myself walking along the shore, searching for anything, anything to help me. The warm waters lap at my ankles as I walk in the sand, my footprints now the only sign of life.

"...gaano nakakainis," I mutter, kicking into the sand with a frustrated growl. I run my hands through my dark hair, knots getting caught in my fingers much to my dismay. Great. I was dirty now too. My attention is suddenly caught by something on the corpse of a Spaniard. Something shiny. I approach, kneeling by the dead soldier and pulling out the offending item. A gun. I find my nose scrunching up in distaste. But it was rather effective. Something potentially useful. So, I reluctantly take the holster from the body as well, strapping it to my own waist before returning the gun to it. Ok. So I was armed. Good start. Now... how do I get the hell out of here?
