I headcanon RG adopting a child, part because of the merge and part bcs I headcanon Oscar as transmasc.
Anyway, his name is Fern Rose-Pine, a silver eyed wolf faunus. He absolutely adores his dad but his teenager angst wouldn't allow him to admit it. Also a Faunus right activist because if his parents, uncles and aunties were able to change the world he wants to help too. Ruby and auntie Blake support him on that 100%.

Betts. how do I stop feeling jealous of everyone and everything and just focus on myself? I'm tired of being comprised of nothing but envy.
story time:
so i was recently at Millay, which is one of the top artist residencies in the country. they have an acceptance rate of something like 3%. when i was shown my room, there was a packet of all the residents' artist bios. i sat down and read through all of them. most of them were like half a page in length, single-spaced, listing out accomplishments i could never dream of. one artist had won a guggenheim. one author had published 12 books. another author published her first book at 19 years old. these were people who were extremely well accomplished and respected in their fields.
and we all became very good friends!
and then there was me. my bio was 3 sentences listing out a couple short publications and awards and other residencies i'd done. and my honest to god first thought was, "wow, the jurors must have really liked my writing to have accepted me among all these great artists."
and my second thought was, "that's the healthiest thing i have ever thought."
i had no jealousy of their accomplishments. even though my career hadn't even begun compared to theirs, i didn't attend dinner that night with any impostor syndrome. and that confirmed for me that i had grown out of whatever place i used to be in as a person, where i was basically a raw wound wrapped in barbed wire. everything hurt me and i hurt everything in return.
jealous feelings come from an intense need of external approval, but as i've mentioned in other asks, approval and validation is a well that gets filled over time. at our introductory dinner that night, i didn't talk about my work in the hope of convincing everyone i deserved to be there, which was what i would've done a few years before. instead we all ended up talking about a TV show. the most highbrow place i've ever been in my life, and we're getting wine drunk and discussing at length a cheesy discovery channel reality series. the guggenheim winner: loves box turtles. the guy who's published 12 books: his favorite movie is Spirited Away. the girl who published a book at 19: reads One Direction fanfic. the well-lauded poet: old school tumblrina.
actually, 4 out of 7 of us read fanfic and we had some great conversations about it. sometime i'll tell you about introducing the co-director of the residency to AO3.
when you think of the most accomplished and successful writer you've ever read, remember that they are, at the very core of their being, a nerd. and if you were to eat dinner with them, you would, with enough polite inquisitiveness, be able to unlock the goofy side of them that binges Property Brothers.
so that was the big change for me, i think. i started asking a lot of questions. i stopped talking and i started listening. it seems counterintuitive that admitting to not knowing stuff shows confidence, but it does. pretending you know stuff is what looks insecure. i think for me, i put so much of myself in my work, i wanted my work to be lauded so i could feel accomplished, and feeling accomplishment would let me believe i deserved to exist. but over time, i've reframed that mentality. my work is a thing that exists beyond me and is private to those who read it. it comes from me, but it is not me. what i am is just the person i am, and my life is a series of moments i choose for myself, and i am allowed to exist.
even sending this ask shows that you've begun filling your well. it takes someone who's already come a long way to realize jealousy isn't the status quo and is a feeling to be overcome. and you can overcome it. you can reach a place where you have enough success that other people's success has nothing to do with you, and you're free to just be happy for them. and when you read work that's better than yours you feel joy at learning something new.
so put your work into the world and let it be rejected. you'll rack up a couple wins or close calls, and those will give you energy to be rejected some more. and eventually you'll be rejected so much that rejection doesn't feel like anything, and you will have won enough to realize your work has a place in the world, and that place is no bigger or smaller than anyone else's. your work is allowed to exist simply as it is, and you are allowed to exist simply as you are.

Who is the antisemite?
I've made many a post about the nature of antisemitism, and I don't expect I'll ever stop. But I've made relatively few posts about antisemites, who they are, and why they are. I don't mean to make a list of every antisemite in the world; I wouldn't be able to finish it before I died at my keyboard. Instead I want to explore a bit into the nature of antisemitic belief and what draws people to it, in the hopes of helping people recognize their own behaviors. This won't be a thorough taxonomy, but will focus on something I believe is at–or close to–the heart of the issue.
When I tell people antisemitism can have a racial component the response I usually get is, "but Jewish isn't a race so you can't be racist against Jews!" Now it's true that "Jewish" is not (currently) one of the accepted racial categories (up until some time in the 1950s you could list your race on U.S. censi as "Hebrew"), but that's not exactly what I mean. What I mean is that there's a pattern of thought that's part-and-parcel of racism and racist ideas, even if it's not always deployed against what we would consider a race. That pattern is bio-essentialism–the belief that there are certain inherent and largely invariant differences between discrete groups of people. This, for example, explains the significant overlap between racism and transphobia, if not always in practice than in thought. If you believe these differences exist along racial lines, it's simple enough to map them onto sex as well. Bio-essentialism is not the only driving force behind racism, but it is a significant one, and one that can be reasonably used as a predictor of racist thought. In this sense, focusing on phenotypes common among Jews (prominent noses, dark curly hair, olive skin) can have a racial component, and can result in behaviors and attitudes that behave like racism, even if Jews aren't a "race".
So we have racial antisemitism, and from here we can sit around and postulate on other alchemical combinations; the intersection of antisemitism and sexism, for example, resulting in stereotypes about nagging Jewish wives, overbearing Jewish mothers, and the Jewish American Princess. The intersection of antisemitism and patriarchy, creating anxieties about weak or effeminate Jewish men. Antisemitism and classism; antisemitism and homophobia; antisemitism and anti-theism; and on and on. But what about anti-Jewish antisemitism? What do we find that makes people hate Jews for being Jews?
I'm going to lean fairly heavily on Anti-Judaism: The Western Tradition by intellectual historian David Nirenberg. It's a fantastic albeit excruciating read, and I highly recommend everyone–Jewish and not–pick it up from their local library.
Much like the habits of bio-essentialism characterize much of racism, obsession with blame is (I believe) the core driver of anti-Jewish antisemitism. Specifically blame of the other, although that's generally merely step two in the process. Jews occupy a fairly unique position in the world in that in the vast majority of places where we live we don't really belong. We're treated as guests, reliant on the grace and magnanimity of our hosts to ensure our protection and survival. Part of this is our own doing; throughout the Diaspora our struggle to cohere to our identity has set us apart from everyone else. We don't like to assimilate any more than we have to. But it would be wrong to place the blame for our status entirely on our shoulders, so I will not do so. For the purposes of this post let us take it prima facie that Jews maintain a role of perpetual outsiders–among the nations of the world but not of them.
Throughout history this status has allowed our hosts to define themselves in opposition to us. Jews, who never really belonged, became emblematic of whatever ill the current society, religion, or philosophy decided was most pressing. We gave people opportunity to externalize their own faults, to shift blame from themselves and their comrades to nefarious interlopers. To recontextualize their responsibility to themselves into a Manichaean (I use the word deliberately) struggle between darkness and light. If the anxieties of the day centered around hypocrisy, Jewish Rabbis were the hypocrites you should strive to be unlike. If it was infidelity, it was the Jewess temptresses who were to blame. If it was greed, it was certainly the Jewish bankers who were at fault.
Perhaps my use of past-tense verbs is misleading; this is still the nature of antisemitism today. But this is certainly also how it began. The urge to excise culpability is a fairly common one. It crosses cultural boundaries and expresses itself in toddlers the world around. And so whither the Jews went, childish vindictiveness followed.
When we understand how antisemitism is used as a tool, we can begin to understand the work it does for those who use it. Antisemitism is the antidote to critical thought, to skepticism and self-reflection. It creates a "them", not in reality but in the mind. It explains failure not through any self-conscious rumination, but in the creation of vagrants, infiltrators, and saboteurs.
It now becomes clear why nearly every conspiracy theory is antisemitic, or rapidly hurtling in that direction. One of the cornerstones of conspiratorial thought (as expounded by Michael Barkun in A Culture of Conspiracy: Apocalyptic Visions in Contemporary America) is the belief that the conspiracies are composed out outside forces. When neo-Nazis compose their "Every Aspect of _____ is Jewish" flyers, they can hardly focus on the fact that the vast majority of the people they blame are American. Americans are the in-group and as such cannot be at fault. Jews are an easily accessible out-group, in part because Jewishness is so "sneaky" (you can be Jewish and not even know it! Even Wikipedia can't seem to decide when someone is Jewish or not!). When people believe that the CIA was responsible for assassinating John F. Kennedy, it's never in their capacity as red-blooded patriotic Americans; it's always the result of insiders from Russia, China, and ultimately, Jews. Even conspiracy theories that don't explicitly name Jews are engaged in antisemitic thought, so long as they seek to pin events on the actions of "them". There's a reason "they" has become memetic in neo-Nazi circles; those who are "them" are most assuredly not "us".
It also becomes clear how and why antisemitism traverses political boundaries, and infects discourse left, right, and center. The extremes–the far-right and far-left (for all the usefulness of the political spectrum, which is not much)–are more prone to antisemitic thought precisely because they are so far from the norm. The more you see wrong with society the more you seek those who are responsible. (Again it's important to note that "antisemitic thought" in this context refers to the habit of looking for outsiders to blame, and does not always map perfectly onto open bigotry toward "real Jews".) When England is close to being a perfect country, it is only through the actions of the Jews that it is prevented from becoming so. When Sovyet communism begins to collapse in on itself, it is certainly the Jews who are accused. It is never "us" or "we"; it is always "they" and "them". And in a fit of cruel irony, when antisemitism becomes un-fashionable, the "no-true-scotsman" fallacy is often deployed, assigning the use of conspiratorial bigotry to impersonators and pretenders.
So what can we do? What can we learn, and how can we change? We can start by resolving to think critically, to not take the easy answers. We can look inward, not outward, and find things to improve in ourselves, rather than assuming that our faults are not our fault. We can be skeptical of conspiracy theories, of people who want to direct our anger in ways that serve their own goals. As always, we can protect and uplift Jews and Jewish communities worldwide. We can orient ourselves toward finding solutions, instead of finding reasons for why we can't. We can unlearn the thought patterns, cliches, and habits of antisemitic thought, or that lead to antisemitic thought. We can stop trying to look for the bad people, and start trying to be the good people.
#atlas entry#and with that I have to go to bed#I got shit to do like tomorrow and it's past my bedtime#jew#jewish#judaism#jumblr#antisemitism#anti-judaism#there are other things I could tag this as but I'm not going to bc it would be too haughty

So while we're on the subject, here are some other thoughts.
I found Neil Gaiman's online presence - and the more overzealous members of his fanbase - annoying. And please stay with me here, I promise this isn't me trying to be smug or claim I "knew all along" or anything. There's a huge gulf between finding someone a bit annoying and thinking that their behaviour online is less than stellar occasionally and suspecting them of being a sexual predator. I don't think there could have been any way of me "knowing all along" without reading everything in the worst possible faith, which I'm not willing to do and which I maintain is not a good or helpful approach in general. And to people who genuinely looked up to him and felt completely blindsided by the news, I'm really sorry. It wasn't your fault and I hope you can do something kind for yourself today.
Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I didn't like the way he handled criticism of his work, a lot of the time. I don't think creators are obligated to personally listen to and address every negative opinion of their work, or explain every individual aspect of it that someone disliked. But I felt like a lot of his responses to feedback tended to lean into and encourage praise, while being a little disingenuous and sometimes belittling towards criticism. (And really, why feel the need to respond to everything when you could just ignore it?)
I didn't like the way he always felt the need to weigh in on fandom debates or throw out "word of god" explanations for this or that thing, including when nobody even asked. (Want to know who inspired the "I don't care what the author said" comment in my bio? Take a guess.) Especially when some of them felt engineered to paint him and his work in the best possible light.
Again, I'm not drawing attention to all this in an attempt to claim any one thing was a blatant red flag or must have been down to some sinister motivation. That's not the point I'm trying to make.
But it is one of the reasons that I was always deeply uncomfortable by the culture of hero-worship and "touch not god's anointed" that always seemed to exist around him. Like regardless of whether or not you thought this or that criticism against him was warranted, the way people would treat him like some kind of messiah who deserved nothing but praise and lose their absolute shit whenever anyone said anything remotely negative about him was absurd. Nobody deserves that, regardless of what they've done.
But at the same time... you know, I liked his work. Not just "I liked the stuff he co-wrote with someone else" or "I liked the films and TV shows he worked on with a whole bunch of other people." I liked the books he wrote by himself. They had some parts worth criticising, sure, what doesn't. But overall I thought they were well-written and funny and thought-provoking and I enjoyed myself when I was reading them. Neverwhere is the first book I had a crack at re-reading in a different language, which should tell you how much I liked it. And I didn't even dislike everything he posted on the internet. I thought some comments were pretty funny and/or insightful. I even reblogged the odd post.
And I wasn't all that vocal about any negative feelings I had towards him, because... well, frankly because a lot of the negative feelings I'd seen expressed by other people about him tended to look like "he's the devil incarnate, his work sucks, he's the worst person alive and he secretly hates every marginalised group and people should feel ashamed for sincerely liking his stuff."
And I didn't agree with that either! I didn't want to be roped in with those people. I didn't feel comfortable around them, any more than I felt comfortable around the Neil Gaiman Defense Squad, Working Tirelessly Day And Night To Aggressively Stamp Out Any Criticism Of Our Lord And Saviour.
And honestly I'm not entirely sure what kind of broader point I'm trying to articulate here, or whether I'm just working through stuff in my head. But I will say that this kind of polarising, zero-sum-game approach to criticism is... bad. It's just bad. It makes it so people are reluctant to put forward any kind of nuanced stance, for fear that they'll end up getting pigeonholed into one oversimplified category or another, or it ends up pushing people towards one extreme stance or another out of sheer frustration or contrariness. And it makes it incredibly difficult to have any kind of actually productive debate when it comes to criticising media, or criticising creators. Inevitably people's hackles are going to be up whichever side they lean towards more, and a lot of people with valuable input will inevitably end up going "yeah, I can see how that's a good point, but also the last person who brought this topic up with me deemed it appropriate to send me a barrage of messages telling me to kill myself about it, so forgive me if I'm not interested in engaging any further."
Obviously a culture of hero worship inevitably makes it a lot easier for predators to operate, and I have no doubt that being inundated with messages about how wonderful you are and how everyone who's criticising you is in the wrong must make it a lot easier to rationalise your actions. But I feel like this tendency to paint everything in terms of "are they a pure uwu blameless smol bean angel OR the devil incarnate" is incredibly unhelpful regardless of what side you come down on. The "devil incarnate" crowd can be part of the problem too.

Astrology Observations🍊
Hi everyone, my chart readings are open again! Click the link in my bio if you’d like to purchase one :) I have had an unbelievable amount of reading requests these past few months and I’m very grateful for everyone who supports this blog x
Uranus transiting the 4th house cusp, can indicate that you’ll move unexpectedly at least once at some point during the transit. It can also indicate that you may have to do some repairs or remodeling to the home as a result of an unexpected disruption in the home. Interestingly, I have a client who has Jupiter and Uranus transiting her 4th house, and she is currently remodeling an existing home because of water damage to the roof.
Something I find so interesting is that during certain long-term transits, you often meet people who are symbolic of that transit. For example, let’s say transit Saturn is currently making a square to your natal Venus. It’s not uncommon to meet people who you share Venus opposite/Square Saturn synastry with. Sometimes these people may have these aspects in their natal charts. When I had Saturn transiting my 12th house, I attracted so many people who had placements in my 12th house. Their personal placements were also in the sign that is over my 12th house cusp. So, keep note of who you meet during certain transits!
Uranus in the 7th house of a composite chart is one of the most prevalent placements in a composite chart of a couple who are long-distance or on-again-off again. Venus square Uranus too.
Transit Chiron making a conjunction to the midheaven can indicate the loss of a job. Alternatively, this can be a time in which a hardship that you are facing becomes highly publicized/public knowledge.
If someone’s Mercury falls into your 6th house in synastry, you may enjoy talking to them about work, your co-workers, pets, physical health, and daily routine.
If your natal Venus is in your 2nd house, your love languages may be physical touch and gifts. Similarly, when your Venus is in someone’s 2nd house (in synastry), you may have the urge to spoil them with gifts or affection.
Eros conjunct/trine the Ascendant is one of my favorite synastry aspects when it comes to physical attraction. The Ascendant person embodies all that the Eros person finds erotically attractive.
Chiron in the 4th or 10th house can point to a significant mother or father wound. Furthermore, Chiron in the 10th can often manifest as not really knowing what it is you want to do in life (career wise). It’s also common to see people work in the healing or spiritual professions with a 10th house Chiron.
Neptune in the 9th house can make you more vulnerable to religious or idealogical manipulation. This is because individuals with Neptune in the 9th tend to be very idealistic and trusting. Neptune in our charts can show us our “blind spots” or where we don’t always view things clearly.
People with Lilith (black moon) in the 10th conjunct Mercury may often have to deal with public slander. People always seem to have something to say about Mercury-Lilith natives.

I saw what another user had written and looked for it, it's true that AFO approached Izuku like this and it's interesting because at this point he would have no quirk to take from him (OFA no longer exists). Furthermore, it's true that when he takes out a quirk the hole in his hand is black and now it's white. If this is so, the question would be what AFO's intention is when he approaches? and if he wants to give him a quirk, why will he do it?
So @luna-cry was definitetly right then about that when afo steals quirks the holes are black and when he gives quirks they are white and glow just how the holes in izukus palm did glow white when he transfered the ofa quirks to tomura. About what quirk afo would want to give izuku: maybe a regeneration quirk to restore his arms or maybe he DID want to use a quirk on izuku himself, but one to stop the bleeding.
I know some people think afo was about to attack and kill izuku because of the hand raise, but the thing is we DONT SEE HIM USE AN ATTACK! You cant just say "oh afo tried to kill izuku" when we see NO ATTACK! If hori wanted to show that afo had killing intentions WHY didnt he show the supposed attack on page and let aizawa and the boys show up to rescue izuku in THAT very moment, instead of them interrupting BEFORE we could see what afo was about to do.
@luna-cry mentioned to me that afo actually saved izukus life in the vestige world and its true. We see that decay didnt only decayed izukus arms in the vestige world the SAME damage ALSO happend in the REAL world. Which means if afo hadnt destroyed the decay quirk, izuku would be 100% dead now! Afo SAVED izuku! Why should he save him to just kill him one minute later when decay could have done the job instead?
Also, I know we need to wait for offical translations, but afo calls izuku by his BIRTH NAME in the privacy of his own mind. Usually he calls him by his full name, ofa or just midoriya. It will be interesting to see if in the offical translation he will also call him by his first name which japanese people only do to people they are close with. Or how inconsistent he is in regard to izuku. To his face he calls him useless, weak, a nobody but to bakugou he said "you will always stand in his shadow" and in this chapter he mentions how "insignificant" sero and co. are compared to izuku. He literally thinks to himself how important izuku is, despite that he just lost both his arms, lost ofa and is supposed to be quirkless right now (which he isnt because he has the afo quirk)!
Its obvious why he talks so negative about izuku to his face. He is trying to make him feel miserable and weak so he will give up and stop fighting. Thats his way of manipulating people he wants to stop resisting him. He tried the exact same thing with yoichi. He wants izuku to be weakminded and look down on himself like he did most of his life before he went to ua, because its easier to control and manipulate izuku that way. But in the privacy of his own mind afo thinks highly of izuku and calls him that in front of others, when he isnt around to hear.
I mean, do people think its a coincidence that in inkos bio it was mentioned she is weakminded. She is EXACTLY the kind of woman afo would prey on.

Thank you for still acknowledging voxval since it is partial/kind of canon (theyre just not "together") even though you're radiostatic (i think). The shipping stuff has gotten intense lately (no surprise most of it is Twitter) but because people hate Val (and I get it) they erase his relationship with Vox and I think it's a total disservice to both characters... i get that we don't know much about anything really because the show is so damn short, but their fucked up relationship is fun to me and it sucks to see it erased when it's actually really there in the story 🥲
I have like all hazbin keywords muted on twitter so I have no idea what goes on there unless someone sends it directly to me. I'm a radiostatic, technically, but only in the sense where alastor never ever reciprocates under any circumstances LMAO, very common interpretation of the ship btw if you didn't know (thus the "one-sided" in my url).
but yeah I have never once seen staticmoth as even remotely being a rival to one-sided radiostatic, and anyone who does baffles me, they have always co-existed to me. I'm gonna be real, I actually do not like it when vox's relationship with val is downplayed in one-sided radiostatic fics. like I don't like it when vox is like "oh he's just my fuck buddy he means NOTHING to me compared to you alastor" like... I do think vox's relationships with both are very different in that vox is completely and utterly obsessed with alastor and is a lot more normal about valentino (lmao being normal about val isn't that crazy) (normal in comparison to his thing with alastor, it's not completely normal okay just normal in comparison, the bar is low as hell) but I don't think val is less important to vox just because vox isn't obsessed with him LMSKGFHODOF. this is in the same vain where any scenario where vox leaves the vees for alastor is SO wrong to me, like he would NOT do that.
but yeah um. points to my bio
I like staticmoth too okay, I know I don't talk about it as much but I like it too.
and listen, I do not think there's anything wrong with disliking staticmoth or feeling uncomfortable with it simply due to the fact that val is a very triggering character for a lot of people. like I totally understand it! this is why we tag appropriately so that people who don't want to see it don't have to see it.
but there is no moral high ground to be had here, liking morally bad characters doesn't mean you support their actions, and there is no moral superiority to be had over people liking a ship that is technically canon. or else you'd have to blame people for literally complying with canon.
#ask#osrs.txt#hazbin vox#hazbin hotel vox#vox#hazbin valentino#hazbin hotel valentino#valentino#I was only gonna tag vox and staticmoth at first but tagging val too just in case anyone has val filtered and doesn't want to see this#staticmoth#voxval

Fuck's a pro shipper?
We've got a new one boys try not to scare em off /j
Okay but seriously, I'm more than happy to explain. I assume that if you're asking this question you're not aware of the proshipper vs antishipper, uh, "conflict", I guess. So, here is what both of those terms mean, to the best of my descriptive abilities:
Antishipper (often just "anti"): someone who vaguely believes that consuming problematic fiction (usually specifically problematic sexual fiction like lolicon or incest) is either a true reflection of them as a person or a corrupting force that will cause them to play out these desires in real life, onto real people. Basically, if you read age gap, you touch real kids in real life or secretly want to.
Proshipper (sometimes "profic"): someone who does not believe the above, and believes that fiction is not the same as reality because it doesn't harm anyone and therefore people should be left alone as long as you have no reason to believe that they would ever do something like that irl. Often hand in hand with things like anti censorship, kink positive, etc, though being a proshipper does not necessarily mean you have a problematic ship or kink yourself (example: me).
You're probably asking this question because you saw me day in my bio that I am a proshipper. I've tried to stay neutral in this initial description, but obviously I probably didn't manage to be completely unbiased considering that I believe myself to be right (most people do) so if you want to ask further questions after this that's perfectly fine. That being said:
Why am I a proshipper?
So, to understand this, let's first look over the issues within both communities— every group has issues, after all.
What problems do proshippers have?:
- sometimes 4chan assholes co-opt the label "proshipper" just because they're lolicons, even though there's good evidence to suggest that they would do or even have done criminal sexual acts in real life, or that they possess actual csam (child sexual abuse material, a term being used in favor of "cp" these days as porn implies consent). Proshipping has nothing to do with the harmful idea that you should be allowed to exploit and abuse real children.
- there are still many gray areas which proshippers themselves don't agree on. For example: I've seen a bunch of arguments about if writing fanfiction of live action shows or movies changes the equation. The general consensus of proshippers is that writing fanfiction of a character played by a child actor is definitely a more delicate situation and should not be sexual as it's inextricably tied to the image of a real child, but there are others who believe differently.
- I'm genuinely struggling to come up with more of these. Um, sometimes lolicons are really shitty people, like in point 1. This isn't SUPER relevant though cause in reality the overlap between predominantly queer or female proshippers and Reddit incels who just wanna jerk off to a petite anime girl is pretty small, though I'm sure it exists somewhere .
Now, what problems do antis have? (Fair warning, this is gonna sound even more "biased" but I hope my logic is still sound from the outside :p):
- I don't have any statistics on this (haven't exactly been many research papers on fandom drama), so you're going to have to trust me when I say that antis are absolutely NOTORIOUS for extreme harassment campaigns. The first time I was exposed to the word "antishipper", it was attached to a story of a former animator committing suicide because antis had gotten them fired by "exposing" their porn alt on Twitter and they could no longer afford medication for their disability. So, hell of an intro!
- their opinions are, in pretty basic ways, not backed by science or even practical common sense. The human brain can distinguish between fiction and reality after around age four or five
and people certainly aren't trying to hand nsfw content to children that age so I think it's safe to say that the people who are reading these things won't be "confused" by them or whatever. Also, even just using your brain and talking to these people, you find out most of them project onto the YOUNGER character.
- they claim to support victims but often simply don't. I won't keep dragging threats into the spotlight because I know there are probably antis who aren't as violent, but it's honestly astonishing to me how often they jump straight to wishing death and terrible things on people, and this has included more than once telling a rape victim they hope they get assaulted again just because they're a proshipper. See, a lot of these "taboo" sexual fantasies like age gap and incest actually themselves stem from a traumatic experience, and any therapist will tell you that fiction is a much healthier way to explore intrusive thoughts and urges than more dangerous coping mechanisms like self harm or substance abuse. And when confronted with this, in my experience and many others', antis will simply ignore that fact or say that the therapist is some sort of evil enabler.
-the general cognitive dissonance of believing an incest fanfiction will make you "forget" that incest is bad vs being fine with horror movies and slashers speaks to a deeper and honestly kind of worrying anti-sex mindset. I'm not sure I'm qualified to tackle this particular topic, but I definitely agree that it's a thing; after all, I have no idea how else those two things could coexist.
Anyways, I'd like to close this off by saying not everyone is as crazy opinionated as I am, I'm just autistic and like talking lol. A lot of people who id as proshippers just have a sort of minding their own business, ship-and-let-ship mentality, and a lot of antis are unfortunately just teenagers who were told proshipper = evil pedophile groomer and thus they put "proship dni" in their bios just cause they don't know and don't really care what it means. It is undeniable that many antis are kids themselves, and that does worry me, because fandom drama (especially Twitter fandom drama) is dangerous and vitriolic and also they're putting extremely serious threats on their digital footprints at the tender age of 14! But whatever, I'm not their parents, that's just my worry. Sorry for rambling this long lol, I wouldn't blame you if you dropped out halfway through but this is basically my summary of this whole thing. Do with this knowledge what you will! Or, you know, don't! I'm not a cop!

I'm not on bird app, and TikTok is geoblocked here, so I don't usually get too deep into fandom drama, nor am I interested in it. Unfortunately, it seems like the drama is spilling over here, and it has me questioning my reading comprehension for the past few days honestly. So here goes nothing, if you don't want to read about fandom discourse (which I recommend, for your own mental health), feel free to ignore this post. I just feel like I'm going insane so I need to get it off my chest.
From what I've read here, someone on bird app demanded Lou to explain some racist/misogynist memes he posted on insta over a decade ago, which were still on his page until very recently. Lou replied with this screenshot:
(Username crossed out to protect their identity.)
I've heard rumors of a certain subsection of the fandom impersonating bucktommy fans in order to stir up controversies. Again, I'm not on those sites, I can't confirm that, but I do admit the timeline is a bit suspicious. I get why some of you immediately rush to defend Lou and theorize that he was hacked, but I feel like it's such a cop out. Too many problematic figures get off scot-free just by claiming they were hacked. I'll hold out my judgement on that until more verified information comes out.
So for consistency's sake, I'm going to play devil's advocate, let's assume it really was Lou who tweeted that. I still don't see how it makes him an ableist?
First, it wasn't him who made this comment, the owner of that instagram account did. It wasn't even someone else's tweet or meme that he reposted, or did he signify his agreement to this statement. It was literally someone else's insta bio, a line that somebody else used to represent themself.
Second, look at the insta account itself. It's a K-pop stan account with 0 post and only 1 follower. It follows 19 celebrity pages, so it's safe to say someone made this account especially to snoop on celebrity news. How did Lou even find out the existence of such an account? That user must've initiated some kind of contact with Lou first, either through DMs or comments. Lou's an actor on a hit TV show, I'm sure he gets random comments from strangers every day. For a random stan account to stand out, they must've made an impression, probably not a good one either.
Third, it was posted as a direct response to someone demanding explanation for Lou's past problematic insta content. Why would he make an unrelated ableist joke about bullying blind kids in response to that? It's clearly a sort of gotcha attempt at pointing out the hypocrisy of the people pestering him online lately. They accuse Lou of being a bigot and try to get him fired, but at the same time they make jokes like this, so they're not in a place to judge him. Which is..... a shit retort. Lou's social media history WAS problematic, people have to right to question him on that. Him hitting back is whataboutism, but it doesn't make it less true, those people ARE bullies.
As I've said before, you don't have to be okay with Lou's past. I personally don't care, as I don't know him as a person, I also don't know who he was 10 years ago and what kind of environment he was in. As long as he's not actively using his platform to promote harmful views or using his fame to exploit people, I'm as okay with him as his co-workers are.
You do you, you can dislike him, outright hate him even, but you have to ignore all context and twist words around in order to paint him as an ableist asshole with this and this only.
#lou ferrigno jr#i just want to go back to the helicopter stuff#fandom discourse#I have the same bigoted jokes made around me TO THIS DAY#I have bigger fish to fry#I was a kpop stan nearly 20 years ago#We've lost so many people over online bullying

btw i made up bio parents for my wol tomte :) she has no knowledge of them, they have no knowledge of her, and one if not both of them are dead.
the one on the left is gentianne. she is very sincere, very naive, and very kind. she's a healer, using a combination of conjuring and herbal medicine - she learned it all from her mother. she's a trans woman (upon deciding this i was like AHA! FINALLY MY WOL CAN HAVE A MORE INTERESTING RELATIONSHIP WITH MY FAVORITE CHARACTER (urianger) (who in my personal canon is a trans woman. you all know this) (and very maternal regardless). she's from a small village in the dravanian mountains made of ancient pre-war stone ruins and populated by "heretics" by ishgardian standards, but they are simply keeping by millennia-old traditions from before the dragonsong war. folk beliefs. they make monthly cattle sacrifices to the dragons to keep their peace. they are a separate population from the proto-ishgardians who drank ratatoskr's blood, so while there has been some intermarriage with heretics who entered the population, most of the population cannot transform (and thats not part of their practices anyway - i think that dravanian religion is full of a lot of scattered sects and traditions) (although there might be some shiva veneration). they respect dragons as massive beings that are the embodiment of the sky and of weather and of song. ishgard does not know the village exists, although some heretics do.
the one on the right is theodorette. she is an exiled scholar from the sharlayan colony. imagine if lord asriel from hdm was butch (i know the image says mrs coulter but asriel fits better now that ive cleared away my focus on Evil Woman). she's ten years older than gentianne and was friends/colleagues/cousins with the augurelts. i'm still figuring out what area of study she was into, but being a bit of a mad scientist is why she got exiled. she was a sinister part of sinister sharlayan. theres lots of routes i could take but i want it to be 1. cool 2. appealing to me 3. aligned with tomte's character beats even if they have minimal impact on her actual life. some possibilities:
worked on the antitower, got too obsessed with it (tomte is the half of azem who was in love w venat)
biologist who did too much experimenting w dragon stuff and was exiled to keep the colony's neutrality in the war (tomte's co-wol was raised ishgardian and is very wary of dragons, while she is more open-minded (and in love w ysayle))
experiments on children's aether (since ive been reading the hdm books)
there's the connection with the augurelts - theodorette might have taken the fall in some scandal and been exiled, while the augurelts took the last copy of their research and disappeared with it before it could be seized and destroyed, leaving their child behind to be cared for by the neighbors.
alexander?? since it's the colony
something else idk i havent decided yet
when theodorette (dora) was ejected from the colony, she made her way to the village as a site of aberrant aetherial activity and/or it was known to sharlayan anthropologists and classified as neutral territory. weary from life outside the city, she was taken in by gentianne, who had recently lost her mother and who cared for her, ingratiating her with the village and teaching her how to live in a place that did not control all the magical and technological innovations over the past thousand years. country girl/city girl romance.
unfortunately dora was not a great person. this leads to tomte getting dropped on the porch step of an orphanage in the north shroud as a baby - either dora did it as an act of petty revenge, or gentianne did it to keep her safe from her other mother. an obvious plot beat is that dora also did something that led to the village getting destroyed either by dragons or by ishgard or by Mad Science, but i'm kind of attached to the village now and i don't know if i want to go that route. i think it would be sweet if ysayle spent some time there at some point.
ive also grown very fond of gentianne... i think it would be nice if tomte met her at some point and they did not know who each other were, but they were kind to each other. maybe when ysayle fell to earth, the village found her body and gave her their rites (sky burial). maybe in the hvw patches while tomte is trying to process the grief swirling around her from her co-wol's devastation over haurchefant and her own unrecognized feelings for ysayle she manages to find the village. i think the meeting is sweet - they're both very kind people, although gentianne is much more of a talker than tomte.
anyway those are my thoughts for now. /showleft
#chirps#robffxiv#tomte tag#tomte peregrin#i need to standardize what my tag for her is.#bird in the hand

🍑Share a tidbit of prose you've written, and give the author's commentary! (The writing can be from a bio, etc)
This is a bit from a few years ago, of Josie and co. trying to make sense of Mike's so-called boyfriend!
-
“Ah ha!”
Amelia lifted her head, looking for the source of the sound. The normally neat front desk was scattered with binders and notebooks, with Josie’s horns barely visible behind the drift. “What is it?”
The Guardian lifted her chin until she was completely visible, grinning broadly. “Every time Mike is late for work, every time he leaves early, every time he doesn’t show up, he blames it on someone named Irving. ‘I was with Irving and lost track of time,’” she mimicked. “‘Irving’s doing something, and I have to be there! So sorry, I promised Irving!’ But look at this:” Josie waved her claws, indicating the mess on her desk. “Years and years of library records, and no mention of an Irving.”
“How long did it take you to go through all that?”
“No one named Irving lives in Square Toe. He doesn’t exist.”
“Or he doesn’t check out library books.” Amelia turned away, going back to flipping idly through a book of poems.
“Wait, what’s this about Irving?” Cleo approached the front desk, holding an armful of literature. “What’s he up to now?”
“There isn’t an Irving. Mike made him up.” Josie took the volumes, looking down in surprise. “I didn’t know you were such a big reader, Cleo!”
“I’m not. I’m returning ‘em for Sarge.” The Snapper shifted, waiting for Josie to dig the current records out of the piles of old ones. “Irving’s a real person, though. I chased him just last week.”
Josie paused. “You what?”
Cleo nodded. “Lavinia likes me and Sarge to keep an eye out for him, otherwise he’ll get in her garden and rip up the plants. Vince’s seen him too”
Amelia reinserted herself into the conversation, rolling her eyes. “Vince swears he saw the Earthshaker in the desert last week.”
“Well, he’s a bad example. But I’ve met Irving. I’ve pulled his tail feathers, even.”
Josie snorted. “Irving’s an excuse to avoid work, and I’m not accepting it any longer. Next time I see Mike I’m telling him that myself.”
“Tell me what?” Mike dropped into the lobby with a slight flutter of wings. “I finished organizing the cookbooks,” He gestured upward, towards the second-floor balcony, “but I really think you should get someone in to check for mimics. Some of the reading rooms up there have too many chairs.”
“Sarge and I could do that for you, Josie,” Cleo interjected. “We’ll even work cheap, ‘cause it’s civic service.”
“I’ll think about it.” The Guardian turned back to Mike. “We have to talk.”
“Sure. What about?”
Amelia snickered and Josie shot her a look. “It’s about Irving- ”
Mike snapped his paw. “Oh! I almost forgot, can I please take off early tomorrow? Irving’s cousin just got back into town and he’s having a really hard time.”
Josie covered her face and sighed.
-
So, first of all Irving does exist but he's not a dragon - he's a desert trickster spirit who Mike just happens to be going out with. Lavinia really does not like him because he steals leaves from her mint plants. Irving thinks he's doing her a favor.
Mike is a mild-mannered librarian who has been pulled into ~ghost drama~ mostly against his will.
Josie is the head librarian, and has a lot of anxiety and a lot of aggression, which means that she tends to fixate on details and blow up when things don't make sense. If I had written this today, her reaction would have been uhhh let's say different than just sighing. She is aware of this issue and is working on it.
Vince would be a UFO nut if UFOs were a thing in Sorneith. He is generally well liked but less than reliable.
The Square Toe Library has an ongoing mimic infestation. The library itself has a ton of nooks and crannies and tunnels and backrooms (there is eventually revealed to be an entire guy living down there) so getting rid of them entirely is impossible. Cleo doesn't read, but she is always hustling.
Irving's "cousin" is Elisabuff, another desert spirit but a more sinister one. I have a technically-not-abandoned plot thread about her devious schemes and Irving's rising stress levels. May is involved.
#i got distracted from the ghost stuff for a long time and i'm probably gonna have to rejigger a lot of it#so its on hold for the time being#thank you for asking!

Do any aliens live in the Sol Union? or is it all humans and dolphins?
Great question!
There are some aliens that live in the Sol Union but they are an extreme minority. For the most part - alien species are exceptionally different from each other, and have difficulty co-existing, especially in a society that is technologically quite far behind most other species.
The most common that has appeared in the Sol Union are the 'Vested' (our word, not theirs). They are a parasitic species, not too unlike the fungi of earth. In the past they would eject themselves through space on large bio-ships, crash landing into habitable planets and releasing vast clouds of spores. These spores would come in contact with other living organisms, and then embed themselves within them.
The spores could lay dormant for many years, before making their ultimate decision. Either they would
A: Kill the creature, and turn it into a large, violent spore cloud, typically by bursting out of any available orifice.
B: Take over the creature's nervous system, and merge with its mind to turn it into a carrier - often finding other carriers on the same planet and creating a new bio-ship to go find a new planet to inhabit.
Visual depictions of three vested.
Typically, the brain of the creature (or whatever served the purpose of the creature's brain) would be overtaken by the fungus, usually bursting out of it and forming these diverse brilliant, geometric, fungal bodies.
(more art below)
Nowadays, the Vested know not to colonize planets with any advanced life on them, and have engineered themselves such that they only release spores if they intend to (for instance if they find an interested host).
Those Vested in the Sol Union (as far as we are aware) have had their hosts consent for the merging, and claim they are quite happy with their new forms - and new state of being. The new form retains all of the memories of their hosts, and many but not all of the mannerisms, habits, and tastes.
It is a philosophical question of if that person is still the same being, or just a simulacra created by the Vesting process.
In terms of rarity, most humans go their entire lives without meeting a Vested - only learning about them in schooling. They very, very rarely hold high-visibility positions despite their aptitudes.
Showing more of one of the Vested.
As far as their acceptance in society, it’s a mixed bag as with any cultural minority. Some love them, some hate them, most are unsure of what to make of them given their lack of exposure.
Nevertheless, they do a decent job of co-existing with the rest of humanity, and are quite sought after for their increased resilience, and impressive intuition.
(thanks to Sunlith’s player @aurosoulart for the awesome depiction of the Vested)
I hope that answers most of it! Thanks for writing in.

some headcanons about sebastian solace from the hit game pressure roblox
to start - this may seem unimportant to you guys but its important to me: that ring on his finger is about as serious as the squirrel stapler room (that is, to say, the whole thing is a bit that the devs have included in their silly project and i will be treating it as such) (for selfish reasons, of course, but idc!! i'm having fun with this stupid game that i love and thats all that matters) (update on this: as i'm typing, i'm finding out that zerum is serious about her and sebastian being married which is honestly kinda...) (like sure fine that's cool and all if he were JUST your OC but sebastian has reached a point of publicity where he is more than that. obviously, i think it's rude and terrible and disrespectful to disregard a creators wishes as to how their character is used in fan-made content (this especially goes for NSFW art cause i think its fucked up if people make that sort of content of a character and POST IT after the creator explicitly said not to). at the same time, there are many people on the internet who do not care and will do what they want regardless. i think it'd be fair for her to ask not to have any of it sent to her specifically or posted in the Pressure server that she co-runs where she will obviously see it but she's saying she doesn't want anyone to make that sort of stuff period which is unreasonable and will only serve to hurt her in the long run. i don't know how old zerum is but this is reminiscent of my own (early) internet phases where i would become EXTREMELY attached to a character and refuse to acknowledge that that character existed differently (or at all) to someone else (i don't want to admit it was a sans AU but i really don't think i have a choice). i really hope she gets past this in a healthy way and comes to understand that a character who's been made public the way sebastian has been made public has a very different dynamic than an OC that you're sharing with your friends)
☆ pretty basic and angsty interpretation and im positive most people in the fandom agree with me on this - he doesn't like getting hit with the bright light not only because of the angler fish DNA making his eyes sensitive but also because it reminds him of surgical lights (which is why he has a Take No Shit policy (since the update) for expendables flashing him) (yeah, he has a pretty short fuse already, but he wouldn't deck an expendable for leaving and coming back in once nor would he shoot them for using the keycard on his wares) (so even though its because of the DNA mixing, i like headcanoning theres more to it for funsies)
☆ can and will let the expendables die in his shop because then he doesn't have to leave to collect all the shit they drop (on that note, wags his tail and chuckles when you buy stuff cause he knows it'll ultimately be useless and he'll just get it back)
☆ collects data so he has records of urbanshades bullshittery (so he can prosecute their asses the second he escapes) AND so he can re-discover his own identity (this plays into my headcanon that he's slowly forgetting what he used to look like as well as what his life used to be outside of urbanshades teensy weensy ginormous fuck up facility)
☆ i know this is (basically) canon but i'm solidifying it for myself by calling it here: he's chilean american (and speaks chilean spanish) and i know like i KNOW if his radio was working he'd be blasting Bio Bio or Futuro or Pudahuel 24/7
☆☆ bonus!! he 100% listens to mid 90s - early 2000s emo music now (have you even seen him) (that mf painted his nails pitch black in middle school) (walked out the door listening to Green Day and One Last Wish on his walkman while his mom kissed him goodbye telling him to have a good day at school TRUST) and his favorite chilean genres are nueva trova chilena, folklore, cueca, and punk melodico! (im not entirely familiar with chilean culture and music so if anyone here is chilean and likes Pressure PLEASE chime in i'd love to hear your thoughts)
☆ on the topic of family, he would help his mom cook and clean sometimes when his older sister was out (his dad helps too!!)
☆ twirls/plays with his hair (mostly because he doesn't have anything else to fidget with) (projecting he's self conscious about it cause thats why i play with my hair whoops)
☆ soft spot for teen/young adult expendables that he doesn't have for the older ones (every time he sees an expendable younger than 30, his disgust and rage towards urbanshade grows)
these are all for fun and just my personal opinions/headcanons!! i'll update these eventually (maybe) and i wanna hear what you guys have to say too :D

Personal question but you said in your bio you were abandoned by the last fandom you were a part of? how did that happen if you don't mind me asking?
Oh I can for sure answer that. The last fandom I was a part of was a sci-fi based furry server I had been a part of for years. I treated everyone there like family, my art improved because of them and I looked up to the owner of the server like a second parent an I regret it to this day. However the owner of the discord server allowed children to run her server an be in an area that was 13 an up when it should have been 18 an up. I was openly stalked an harassed by a dam 15 year old for 2 years an I had screenshots worth of evidence and the mods did nothing- The server was severely toxic and I had called out it's issues twice to where I was banned not once but three FUCKING TIMES! Do you understand that they made me to be the bad guy because I refused to keep my mouth shut. She let mods abuse their power an did nothing, she hired random strangers with no mod application to be admins even though there were users who had been there since the servers opening an were never chosen it was all favoritism from the start. One of those bans was for an entire year an they didn't even let me back in after a month when they promised to let me rejoin. I was forgotten... I was a pest. A RAT to them. I was on a list of troublemakers when I had done nothing but try an keep the server safe, even accidentally co-running it because none of the mods were on until I said something that pissed them off. They didn't defend anyone unless it was their stupid little friend group giving them extra privilege's. DO NOT make it obvious you have favorites I will openly hate you for your entire existence. Keep that shit to yourself an don't enrage your fans. This child made unwanted unconsented ships, lore broke an bypassed multiple rules, had a futa kink, misrepresented lesbians, the trans community multiple times misrepresented people with multiple personality disorders, fact checking, an overall being a dick to everyone. As of now I am banned forever an no longer allowed to return, the place I once called home is now gone forever, the countless ocs I drew are long forgotten an i have been abandoned. All because of poor management... This is why I don't talk to younger users an have openly wrote in my bio that I don't want them dm me on this platform. I am openly blunt an none of them would handle an argument with me even if they tried. It just reminds me that no matter what I do everyone will always say "they're just a kid" MAN FUCK THAT! If you do some dumb shit I'm calling you out on it I don't care how young you are you're old enough to make an account, you're aware of what's right or wrong don't be stupid your actions have consequences. You want to be an adult I'll treat you like one. Go fucking cope for all i care. To this day I had successfully managed to get them banned from every server an I will keep doing it until they erase themselves from the internet.
Fuck with my life I break your legs so no one cna help you :) Call this controversial I don't care much social is a distaser now. ELIAM WHITE IF YOU'RE READING THIS FUCK YOU! GO KILL YOURSELF YOU SCUMBAG YOU ABSOLUTELY RUINED MY LIFE. since you can't even bother to change your username on any social media platform. I hope everyone on here knows you're a zoophile for fetishising Dobermans, wolves, dragons, and any form of big cat. No your stupid mutt of a dog is not part wolf stop bragging about it. Your lore an ocs are complete ass no one wants to read that shit garbage you call a fandom. YOU DO NOT HAVE ADHD, no one makes notes of strangers on their phones, stalks their timezones an hits on their oc the moment they create one. You hate everyone who's in a relationship trying to be a third wheel you creep. NOT TO MENTION YOU'RE A PEDO FOR SHOWING PORN TO MINORS YOUNGER THAN YOU! YOU ACTIVELY HAVE NOTHING BUT ADULTS FOR FRIENDS YOU WILL GET THEM ALL SENT TO JAIL! And for anyone else reading this from that server I hope you know that you are all good for nothing traitors an have ignored my pleas for help for far too long. None of you believed in me an none of you bothered to see what this little boy has done. Fuck you all. GO FUCK YOURSELVES!!!
