secret admirer part fourteen
442 words
one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen
On Saturday, Steve invites Carol over. He would usually hang out with Tommy (which has included Carol more often than not recently, anyway) but he’s visiting family over the weekend. Steve didn’t want to sit around the house or go out alone and he figured there’s no reason he and Carol can’t hang out without Tommy there, too.
He’d never admit it to either of them, but he’s honestly liking her better lately, and would prefer her company to his, anyway.
Tommy’s always been an asshole, but he’s growing more and more, like, genuinely mean as the days go on. For no reason, too. It’s kinda scary to see the kid he used to climb trees and learn how to swim with so filled with anger that he’s willing to hurt people to get temporary relief. Anger that he likes to take out on kids at school who do nothing to him.
Carol isn’t angry. She’s kinda entertaining, actually.
“Then she started talking about some guy who cut off his own ear and killed himself! Like, what?! What does that have to do with anything? All I said was that I don’t see why we have to make stupid drawings of ourselves!”
Steve nods along as he shuffles through his fridge trying to decide on something to make for lunch.
“And she- Oh my god,” Carol cuts herself off. “Did you see what she was wearing?”
Steve pulls out sandwich supplies and shakes his head. “Nope. What was she wearing?” he asks, knowing damn well what she was wearing.
“A sweater vest. With a tie!”
Steve snorts. “Oh, the horror.”
“And she had these rings- Well, actually, the rings were kind of cute, but her shoes were all marked up with pen. Pen!”
“You kinda sound like-” Steve cuts himself off when he realizes where he was going with that sentence.
You kinda sound like me when I think about Eddie.
When he looks over to Carol to see if she noticed his slip up, he finds her looking at him with her eyes narrowed from where she’s sat on his counter even though he’d protested (No, no, no, come on! I eat there!). He clamps his teeth down on his cheek.
“Sound like what?” she asks. The question by itself would be innocent, but combined with her crossed arms and glare, it comes off as defensive.
“Like you really don't like her,” he deflects and turns back to the sandwiches.
From the corner of his eye, he sees Carol slump. She scoffs. “Yeah, ‘cause I don’t.”
Steve can practically see her pout.
It’s quiet for a moment. Then, “Ham or Turkey?”

mark being jealous
« Remind me where you’re going again? » your boyfriend says. you were trying your best to contain your irritation as you probably told him like fifteen times already.
« Mark, you know where I’m going, why do you keep asking me? » you answer getting up from the couch where you guys were sitting watching a movie as you needed to get ready
« just to make sure that you were really going to your high school reunion where the guy you spent your whole high school years being in love with is also there, only handsomer and richer and also just really into you. » your boyfriend says as you sigh.
Yes, your unrequited high school crush was going to be there, yes, he had a glow up, yes he asked you out not long ago so he is into you. But all of that did not matter, you were sure Mark was the absolute love of your life. It frustrated you that he did not understand that whether your old crush was there or not did not matter. you were only going there in hopes to rekindle friendships that you’re grown out of during the past few years
« look, instead of spending your whole evening overthinking what I could possibly be doing there just come with me? I’ve already offered you to come, hell mark I want you to come! I don’t understand why you refuse to tag along but complain about god knows what I might be doing with some random guy I haven’t thought of in years » you say. you probably asked him ten times already over the past two days if he wanted to come but he kept on saying no for some reason
« I don’t wanna be the only guy not from your high school there, I don’t want to feel like the odd one out. » your boyfriend says, is that why he didn’t want to come??
« Mark, literally everybody that’s in a relationship is bringing their partner, which I thought I’d do too because I also want to show you off, like yea that’s my man not yours stay mad you know? » you reply as you hear your boyfriend sigh out of relief « no go get ready I don’t want to be late, I’ll tell you all you need to know about everyone on the way. » you say as mark heads upstairs to get ready whilst cheering because you guys were going to be gossiping
« oh my god y/nnnnnn it’s been a while how are you?? you look so good oh my god definitely had a glow up there » of course. it was typical of meghan (don’t ask just coming up with random names) to give you passive aggressive comments like those, you quickly look at your boyfriend who just gives you a weird look in return « meghan, yea it’s been a while are you still with that one boyfriend of yours or was he also not the one? » you ask. good thing you had grown a backbone throughout the years. it was kind of funny seeing the confusion leave your boyfriend’s face after you said her name, you had mentioned meghan during the debrief and how she wasn’t always the nicest.
« hi y/n, hi Mark it’s great to see you guys, y/n you look as good as I had remembered, Mark I like your shoes. » your old crush, jack (again, random names sorry) says
« oh thanks, Mark helped me get ready that’s why I look extra good, it’s cause he made this outfit with love. » you say in a lighthearted tone. you wanted jack to understand his place as well as give Mark reassurance but you wanted to do that without animosity. I mean you guys just got there.
as you were getting up to refill your cup you looked at Mark smiling at how he was getting along with some people you only recall positive memories of. it was nice seeing your boyfriend mix with the people that represent your childhood. it makes it feel like he’s always been there, and it’s always been Mark and you against the world.
« you look happy » you hear a voice say, as you turn around you see jack (you presumed he also went to refill his cup)
« M am. so much » you reply smiling to yourself knowing damn well that the man who’s currently chatting with your past is the reason for this happiness
« I’m sorry by the way, if I made you feel uneasy, I swear that when I asked you out I didn’t know you were in a relationship. Had I known, I would’ve never asked, I’m not like that you know » he says, you can see him fidgeting awaiting your response
« Honestly it’s no biggie, when I turned you down you were really respectful about it, there’s nothing to blame your behaviour was impeccable, I mean it » you say as you hear him sigh out of relief
« what do you want to drink? I assume you were heading here to fill your cup « he says reaching his hand out for you to give him your cup
« honestly, whatever you’re drinking is fine » you say as you’re handing out your cup
« what have you been to? we haven’t talked in ages » you say trying to make conversation (plus you were genuinely curious as to what he’s been up to)
« I went to law school and graduated early so I’m actually a full-time lawyer at Kirkland & Ellis, it’s been… stressful but fun so far » he answers
« holy shit Kirkland & Ellis?? did you graduate from Harvard?? how the fuck did you get in such a big firm » you ask, this was no small achievement
« Stanford, actually yea I couldn’t believe it either when I got the acceptance letter » he says, you could see him get shy at the praises you were throwing at him
« woah Stanford okay my bad.. righttt I remember now you graduated high school early, oh my god remember when ryan got so mad at you because his girlfriend was really into you so he poured dirty mop water all over you?? that was crazy » you say laughing. you still remember it as if it happened yesterday, it was THE drama of the whole year, people were gossiping non-stop
« dude don’t remind me I had to ride the bus and I stank so bad.. the smell was foul and when I came home my mom yelled at me so much I wanted to die of embarrassment » he says as you guys are both laughing slowly heading back to the group of people (and your man, of course)
You were all smiles and giggles being happy that the situation with jack was sorted out, and you were excited to reassure Mark that he had nothing to worry about because jack was a good man who won’t ever cross your boundaries. That excitement was cut short when you sat back down next to Mark who seemed… off? he wasn’t smiling. And honestly, it looked as if he was pissed but he couldn’t be because there was no reason to…right?
« Mark, jack graduated from Stanford can you believe it?? he even works at like the biggest law firm ever, isn’t it cool? » you say hoping to ease the tension
« yea. that’s cool. congrats » Mark says as jack looks at you and you look back apologetically, why was he acting like that?
« Hey, is something wrong? Did I piss you off or something» you whisper in your boyfriend’s ear
« no. we’re fine. I’m fine » Mark says not even looking at you. Oh. You definitely pissed him off. you decided to sit back and shut up, you didn’t want to piss him off more. what the fuck did you do to piss him off in the first place though?
A couple of hours later, you decided it was time to leave, even though you were having fun Mark wasn’t and you didn’t want him to stay like this. you also hoped you could talk to him if you guys were alone because you still couldn’t figure out why he had been acting so cold with you. if you were completely honest it hurt your feelings and also kind of humiliated you having your boyfriend act like this in front of so many people (that you hadn’t seen in a long time too) when you were gushing about him the whole evening
You guys were on the highway when you decided to break the silence « Alright Mark, what’s up with you? What did I do » you ask facing him
« I don’t know why don’t you ask jack? » your boyfriend says
« huh? What is that supposed to mean? » you say
« I don’t know, I think I might be referring to you laughing your ass off with him in the kitchen or to his fingers lingering on yours for too long as you were handing your cup or even to the ‘Mark jack is so much smarter and richer and he’s so impressive woah’ but I might not be referring to that at all too, who knows man, maybe jack? »
« first of all, don’t talk to me as if I’m stupid. Second of all, just so you know we were talking about how happy you make me and he apologized for asking me out when I’m in a relationship. but you obviously couldn’t know because you preferred to act like a dick towards me basically showing everyone how unhappy you were to not only be here but be with me, but yea you’re right maybe I’ll ask jack » you say turning your back to him facing the window.
you couldn’t believe him. Sure, he was allowed to feel jealous but acting like an ass even though you’ve done nothing to anger him? you were upset at how he treated you
« fuck, you should’ve told me earlier now jack is going to think I’m the biggest asshole ever, I went up to him before he left and basically told him to fuck off » you hear your boyfriend say. Man, he was worried about jack right now??? no fucking way
« right because it makes so much sense to be worried about what a man, that you won’t ever see again by the way, might think of you. » you say hoping the sarcasm is enough to make him realize how stupidly he’s acting right now
« I’m sorry » he answers to which you only reply ok, he was pissing you off
as you guys were coming in the house, Mark decided to break the silence again « I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to project whatever I was feeling onto you » he says
« I understand Mark. The issue doesn’t lie in the fact that you were jealous it’s because of the tone you take whenever you explain to me whatever I did to piss you off. I’m not a child, I’m also not stupid. We’re both grown adults and you have to respect me a little more because hearing your condescending tone pisses me off. I really don’t care if you’re jealous, that’s a boundary I’ll have to respect in the future because I don’t want to make you uncomfortable but our relationship will only work if you put in efforts as well. except of course, if you don’t want it to work » you say.
During the rest of the car trip you had calmed down. you thought about the whole thing and decided to just explain your feelings because even though it kinda was a recurring argument, you reminded yourself that despite how perfect he is, Mark is a man, and he forgets.
« I know and I’m sorry. I know I say this every time but I really mean it, I promise I’ll work on my issues with jealousy because man, it gets so bad, like tonight, you weren’t doing anything and I got pissed. so I’m sorry. And I’ll watch my tone. I know I have an issue with communicating my feelings when I’m mad and so I use that tone for it to hurt less but you don’t deserve this. And it’s a personal issue I need to fix instead of putting it onto you. I’m really sorry. I understand if you want me to sleep on the couch for tonight » you boyfriend says apologetically.
You had planned to stay mad at him for like an extra two hours but how could you with this?? It was kind of annoying how he could persuade you so easily. You basically didn’t have any choice but to forgive him right now. It sucked to be in a relationship with a good man.
« Mark I forgive you, it’s really no big deal just watch your tone. Also don’t think I’ll forget tho, when this happens again I’ll beat you up » you say warning him. Yes, you were forgiving him this time but you meant it when you’ll say you’ll beat him up if it happens again, because, it’s kinda crazy the audacity this man has.
« it won’t happen again though, I swear I’ll really work on myself. Soooooo… no couch for me tonight? » your boyfriend asks you while coming closer
« no couch for you tonight. » you answer whilst being engulfed in a hug coming from said man.
Maybe forgiving him was extra easy because you like him so much. Either way, it felt good to be okay with the love of your life.

remedy (i) — sam winchester
series masterlist
summary: you meet jessica’s friend group that she’s talked so much about and one person who’s she’s never talked about — tags: underage!reader, 22 year old!sam, med student!reader, smoking, cursing.
You’re a lot of things but weak isn’t one of them. Okay maybe just a little. You’re only slightly weak when it comes to Jess’s pout, her ‘please, c’mon’ and those green eyes— okay so only a little corruptible, but it means nothing.
It means nothing that you’re now standing alone at a party where you hardly know anyone and you feel like sleeping outside on the open road might be more entertaining. Not just any party too— one of the biggest parties, Lily Carson’s birthday.
Basically anyone who looked her way was invited, birthday presents were plethora but not required and you wish you could say that she’s a bitch to everyone, but really, she’s one of the nicest people you’ve ever met. Which is why you started gaping at Jess when she suggested (begged) for you both to go. You don’t know Lily personally but she’s popular, obviously, and she invited Jess so why shouldn’t you come?
“C’mon, girl,” Jess starts as she comes back from a round of beer pong, “you can’t stay rooted in the same place the whole time, that’s not why I made you come.”
Why she brought you at all was the question. What were you doing here other than being awkward? You haven’t even seen Lily the whole night and she’s the birthday girl. Jess is way more of a party girl than you are, she’ll attend each one and somehow keep her grades up but it isn’t even that. You don’t hate coming, you just don’t prefer it. Too many people more often than not cause overstimulation, crying and too many emotions. You’d rather steer clear.
“I didn’t want to come.”
She rolls her eyes. “Come on, I’ll introduce you to my friends.” You knew all her friends, who would be new? Oh, probably people who aren’t majoring in med school. You met Jessica at lunch in your first year, she asked if you had company, you shook your head, she sat down, and the rest is history.
You had plenty of friends from your major but none from outside so someone from law was quite thrilling since you’re not usually one to make friends easily unless you connect through school first.
But throughout the past two years you’ve known her she’d usually hang out with your friends, she knew them all anyways, than you would go see hers. Now it’s different though, you don’t know of many people in your class that would go to a party on a Tuesday night so you’re sure you don’t know anyone here— well, until now.
Jess drags you to a different room. Fifteen, if not more, people are sitting in a circle— or something resembling it. Some of them on the floor, the couch, the tables with the booze. “Guys, here she is!” She introduces you with a big smile and most of them look up to wave at you.
You want to say what catches your attention are the cute guys (there’s quite a lot) but it’s how freaking pretty these girls look. Like Jess. God, everytime you decide to leave your house your insecurities grow double their size.
She starts pointing at her friends for you, “This is Emmy, Mary, Gen—” And it’s a damn long list. Longer than it should be, but you try to keep the ones you care about in the back of your head: Gen, Brady, Stella. No one really caught your attention the way those three have, they look like they’re more your style, laid back, on their phones, talking to Jess like they’re closer to her than the rest of the group.
You sit between Gen and Jess on the beige couch, Brady and his girlfriend (?) at the foot of it, his hand around her shoulders. “Spin the bottle?” Someone from somewhere in the room says and you sigh. Yeah, this is why you don’t go to parties. The alcohol (which you don’t drink), the games (that you don’t play) and the making out everywhere.
You grew up pretty reserved before you came to Stanford so you haven’t even had your first kiss, you haven’t smelled alcohol and you most definitely haven’t seen parties this big.
“Brady?” Someone from the doorway shouts which makes most of us look up at— this person. Who isn’t real. I’m imagining him. “Hey, Jess, Gen,” he acknowledges both people I’m sitting between. Does that mean he’s real? No, no, just a figment of my imagination. He says my name next. A small nod.
Kill me. Kill me now. How does he know who I am? I want to smile and greet him back but I feel like my body is just gone. Thankfully, he leaves my direct vision after slapping Brady’s shoulder, sitting opposite us on the couch next to a couple on another one. I look over at Jess with wide eyes.
“What just happened?”
“I should be asking,” she sighs, “you see one cute guy and turn mute.” Another thing about reserved upbringings? Never even had a boyfriend. Or seen cute guys.
“Cute?” I exhilarating aggressively, “Jess I would kill myself if I was him. He’s too beautiful for other people to see.” Her eyes widen and she leans forward. We’re already talking into each other’s ear at this point since everyone abandoned the ‘spin the bottle comment’ ever since this guy came in. “What’s his name?”
“I literally just said it when he said hi to you, which by the way, you’re so freaking rude! You didn’t even nod when I introduced you.”
“His name, whore.”
“Sam, slut.” You nod once and lean your back completely against the couch. You try so so hard not to look at him, he’s right in front of you at this angle, if you could just— he’s looking at you. In you.
He smiles when you hold eye contact and you, like the dumb bitch Jess argues you are, look away quickly. Gen tells some stupid story about something that doesn’t matter to you no matter how hard you try but she’s so cute that you try your best to focus. His green eyes. Were they green? Not as green as Jess’s but they were green under this low light. His Long hair. Those shoulders.
Someone (the same guys who said ‘spin the bottle’?) suggests that you dip and almost everyone in the room agrees. You leave the party with about nine people, which, woah, too many human beings in one place. You see Lily on the way out, wish her a happy birthday, then run back to the group who’s getting two cars.
You ubered here, not really sure what to expect or if you would be able to park somewhere safe, so you look at Jess with a frown. “What’s happening?”
“We’re going to McDonald’s. You wanna get in Sam’s or in Brady’s car?”
“Neither, I could uber.” And even as you say it you feel a presence behind you, hovering. Jess is looking at him, but you’re sure if you look anywhere near his face you won’t be able to process the words out of his mouth.
“C’mon,” he draws out your name a little and you’re forced to look up when he stands next to the both of you, getting a cloud of his perfect cologne, “it’s safer this way, since we’re all together. Jess is coming with me, you should too.”
You nod once. Like before, nothing is going on in your head. God, screw this. How can you be so bad at talking to human beings when you're supposed to treat them for a living?
“By the way, I haven’t seen you around, you’re law?”
You shake your head, taking a small step back that’s barely noticeable but allows you to breathe a little better. His eyes are brown and green. Is that possible?
“Med. you’re pre-law?” He nods with a smile, putting a hand on Jess’s shoulder to drag her to the car and you follow along.
It isn’t even a tight fit since unlike half of the student population, Sam drives an SUV. You’re in the back with Jess and Gen, some guy who’s name you forgot is with Sam. He’s about to plug his phone in when Jess snatches it from him, “Nuh-uh, Sammy. You promised I can have it next time.” Next time? How many times has Jess been in Sam’s car? Are they together? No, can’t be, you two were just talking about him.
But she did roll her eyes. Is it because they’re together? “Jess, I swear if I hear any Taylor Swift—”
Jess? And Taylor swift? What kind of joke is that?
“Shut up and drive, Sammy, nearest Mac is still ten minutes away.” But she says it like she’s glad. You and Gen look over her shoulder to choose songs with her, you decide on casual playlists everyone will like and both girls are calm enough to carpool all the way, meanwhile you’re texting your little sister that you’re out with friends so she can know where you are.
Okay, so maybe you listen to murder mystery podcasts too much— sue you for wanting to stay safe. You’ve occasionally gone out where boys were involved and so getting in their car was inevitable but most were nice enough to get into your own if you asked, just helped calm you down way more if you’re the one driving.
You arrive and everyone’s out of the car, you’re the last one out when you notice Sam's not moving. The car’s parked, isn’t he coming inside?
You can’t believe you’re doing this. You’re speaking to him. “Sam, you coming?”
He looks back at you with that smile of his, that seemingly never leaves his face. “Yeah, just—” and he seems a little hesitant before he opens his armrest. This is it. You pissed off the wrong serial killer who looks nothing above twenty two.
He takes out a pack of cigarettes and you let out a breath of relief. “I don’t like encouraging them and all that. I’ll finish up quickly and come inside.” You agree but don’t make a move out of the car, even if you do look away from him. “Do you? Smoke?” You nod a little but shrug right after so you confuse him more than yourself.
You haven’t in a while, a few months, maybe. They’re expensive and money’s tight more often than not. Your parents send over as much as they can, which means you’re doing better than most of the people in school, but you try to be responsible so you’d only do it if someone offers one. A disposable, a cigarette, whatever they had.
“Come up.” It makes a smile stretch on your face as you get out of the car to get in the passenger's seat. “Pull it back. The seat.” You do and it puts you in a way more comfortable position.
“Chad was just makin’ sure Gen was comfortable,” because she was sitting behind him, “how come I’ve never seen you with Jess before?”
“Oh, we don’t— or I don’t go out often. I don't go to parties and stuff like that ‘cause it’s,” God curse whoever invented oversharing, “yeah, anyways, I don’t do parties. I came ‘cause Jess promised brunch tomorrow if I come.”
“Brunch?” He asks with a small laugh, like it’s a ridiculous offer.
You shrug, watch him take a cigarette out of the pack and pats himself down for a lighter then— “oh shit.”
Life is in your favor today because you’re grinning as you take out your own lighter. You usually keep it on you for aesthetic purposes, but times like these, they’re really handy. “Lighter?”
He looks over and nods, puts the cigarette between his teeth, his eyes meeting yours intensely. You could’ve lighted it up while it was between his fingers, you’re in the car, there’s no wind. But that doesn’t seem to be his point of view because he leans in and you do too, lining the lighter up, checking hastily so you can get back to staring into those oh so gorgeous eyes. With so many colors.
The cigarette lights and he takes a pornaghraphic drag, arching his back a little to get comfortable and it almost makes you pass out. He repeats his earlier ridicule.
“Yeah, brunch,” You shrug a little, moving to face him more. You notice his phone is connected and playing music though it’s very low, “She’s paying so it’s basically a free meal for the week.” He chuckles through another drag and shakes his head.
“That’s true.” He offers the cigarette and you take a beat. Okay maybe a little more because he checks in, “It’s blueberry.” And it’s a ridiculous thing to say, he notices and shrugs. “Jess was the one who bought it for me, my birthday was a week ago.”
“Oh, happy birthday, then.” He acknowledges your words as you take the cigarette between your own fingers to bring to your lips. You’ve shared smoking with other people, a whole car of people smoking the same thing— nothing new— but just the two of you? Sitting in the car with the low music… something is different. “How are exams— LSAT mocks are soon, right?” And if it’s the dumbest thing you could’ve said, he doesn’t mention it.
“Yeah, next week. They’re just mocks but I think they’re counting them as the finals.” You nod, not really understanding. Med school was way different than… this. Way way different. But you tried to be mindful of all the majors just so you could be able to open conversations with other people.
“That’s nice, must be stressful.” You wish you could say you’re usually better at conversations with strangers but unfortunately you’ve always found comfort in speaking about school whenever you don’t know the person in front of you. Really really lame when you’re talking to a guy you like.
You hand the cigarette back, “Shouldn’t we go back inside?” You ask quickly, wanting to leave.
He takes a breath, “I— uh, I gotta finish this first.”
“Why?”
“Emmy’s trying to quit. ‘S why she rode with Brady, he doesn’t smoke and she’s having a hard time.” Oh. That’s generous.
“You’re close with Emmy?” You take a beat before asking the real question that’s been on your mind, “and jess?”
He taps the cigarette out the window then look over at you with a small line between his brows. Just as you were about to backtrack. Not your business, you’re sorry, anything— “Not really. But I’ve known everyone since freshmen year and they're my friends so I try to be considerate. And I think what Emmy’s doing is good.”
For a second you think that’s that and are about to tell him that’s nice, maybe compliment him and then run out of the car but he smiles a little then adds, “Me and Jess are just friends too. Dated in my sophomore year for a few months, that’s it.”
Oh. That’s good to know, you suppose. Not that it matters or whatever. He hands you the cigarette again and you steal at his eyes, trained on yours, before you take it from between his fingers, your hand slipping against his. You mutter a slow apology. He responds with a warm smile. “What about you? Boyfriend?”
That’s the question of the year. “No, no boyfriend.”
“And this group?” He nods over to the Mac you’re parked in front of. “You know any of them?”
“Except Jess, no. Just met everyone today, a lot of people.”
“So most of the people you know are from Med?” You nod. “You know Lana?”
“Yeah, do you?”
“Yeah, Lana’s an old friend, she got me into Stanford,” that earns a frown from you and he explains further, “helped me choose where I wanted to go since I didn’t have lots of options. I needed to get somewhere on a full scholarship. Said Stanford offers the most scholarships so I applied.”
“Woah, you’re here on a full scholarship? Really?” You see his proud nod, and it’s too damn cute. “That’s incredible, Sam.”
“Yeah, thanks.” Your phone pings and you thank god because opening a new conversation would be the end of you. You want to talk with him, and he obviously doesn’t mind your company if he’s opening topics but— it’s scary. And awkward. Though the latter is because of you.
You see a text from Jess asking where you are, another from your sister to ask who you’re with, and a last one from one of the PA’s for your anatomy class.
“You okay?” You nod quickly and open the one from your PA to make sure nothing was wrong but— hey, give me a call when you’re free, we need to discuss your last exam.
“Fucking anatomy.” You groan, shutting your phone off. You look up and notice Sam’s raised eyebrow. “What?”
“Anatomy 108?”
“Yeah?” In Med you take the same course four times throughout the school year. The first time you take it it’s called 101, then 102, then 104 and 108. It’s something you wouldn’t know unless you take Med or are interested enough to ask because it’s hard to explain in detail.
“You’re— you’re taking anatomy? You’re a sophomore?” Oh. Oh shit. Yeah you’re a sophomore, shit shit.
You can’t lie here, one, because he’d know, two, because you only take anatomy in your second and last year, and you damn well don’t look like you’re in your last. “That makes you, what, eighteen?”
God you wish, at least it wouldn’t kill you. You quickly hand him his cigarette before you break the news, “I’m seventeen.” His face drops and he sits up a little straighter, no longer as playful as he was before.
So what if Sam’s possibly twenty-two? You’re only a few years younger, and he’s so gorgeous it wouldn’t really be that wrong to do something. Couldn’t you have pretended to be eighteen? Who said honesty is the best policy? Fuck them, man.
“Sam?” You ask when he’s been quiet for too long, even if only a couple of seconds that the music fills. “You okay?”
“Yeah, everything’s fine.” He shuts the car’s engine off and raises the windows, “let’s go,” once you’re out of the car he throws his cigarette onto the ground and takes out a packet of gum, then hands you one too. You take it with a smile.
You spot everyone pretty quickly, Gen, Jess and Emmy, the only girls you remember, are sitting on a booth so you head there and the whole way you’re getting looks from jess that you try to ignore.
You wish it could be like that. And maybe it would’ve been. Maybe he would’ve kissed you or asked for your number or something if you’d kept quiet.
part two; and all my life, I’ve been wanting this forever.

016. MANIAC (WRITTEN)
prev | next | masterlist
‘this was a mistake.’ was all that ran through hanni’s mind as she continued to sit in some random persons house, her friends next to her laughing their asses off.
she wasn’t sure how they had managed to convince her to tag along to this, hanni hated parties the thought of them making her gag. who wanted to sit around and get drunk with a bunch of people you don’t know?
the only people in their group sober were haerin and hanni, haerin occupying herself with danielle leaving hanni alone. with her thoughts of course, the worst time in her life for her to be overthinking.
to give more context one of matthew’s members decided to throw a party for his birthday, not notifying the friend group until a bit after their personal party had ended. hanni remembered it well, too well even as if it wasn’t hours ago now.
the group was sitting on minji’s couch, watching various movies when matthew got a call.
“hey ricky what’s up?” he said, his expression noticeably changing once ricky spoke.
“and you didn’t tell me until now? i’m already busy—“
“matthew half of the industry is going to be there, can’t you just continue your little hangout tomorrow?” ricky said loudly, allowing the whole group to hear.
matthew sighed in irritation, “fine but next time don’t tell me twenty minutes before.”
matthew hang up the phone after that, before turning to everyone.
“so basically ricky decided to throw me a party and not tell me about it, so now he wants me to be there in like twenty minutes.” matthew explains, confusion being left on everyone but gunwook’s face.
“we’re actually going? i mean, how far away is the venue?” minji asks.
“fifteen minutes..” matthew mumbles.
“bro we don’t have time for this, speak up.” gunwook chimes in.
“fifteen minutes?”
“are you serious?!”
yet they still ended up at the venue on time (ricky’s rich cousin’s house ?), much to hanni’s dismay. she never really explicitly stated she wanted to go, but she knew her friends needed a supervisor just in case haerin got distracted.
the main thing hanni was concerned about though was you, she knew if danielle was here there was no way you weren’t and after your argument a couple days before— hanni wasn’t sure if she was ready to see your face again. you had being nothing less of a bitch to her that day, making sure she knew you didn’t care about her which hadn’t left her mind since.
hanni wanted nothing more than to get over her feelings for you, but even after all that happened she couldn’t truly say she hated you. sure what all you did was unnecessary, but behind everything you said you seemed hurt.
if you truly wanted to hurt her, why would you feel bad? hanni didn’t miss the build up of tears on your waterline as you argued, making her feel the slightest bit of sympathy for you.
but overall and to the public eye, she wanted nothing to do with you. so hanni made it her mission to keep away from you at this party. and her mission ended now, your kuromi bag entering her sight causing her heart to drop. at this point the only person by hanni's side was haerin but she was too busy in conversation with danielle to save her.
you were presumably walking over there to collect danielle, sunoo trailing behind you. sunoo looked hanni in the eyes, the eye contact becoming uncomfortable as he glared at her. obviously sunoo didn't know the full story, of course you wouldn't let your friends in on how horrible you were to hanni.
you and sunoo seemed to be in slow motion in hanni's eyes, every step closer making her more anxious. she fought the urge to nudge haerin, realizing it would only make her closer to you the exact opposite of her goal at the moment.
the two of you made eye contact, the sharp look on hanni’s face making you sad. she seemed like she was doing well without you, unfortunately.
“danielle, our ride is here.” you say, noticing her perk up.
“oh okay, bye haerin!” dani waved to the girl, haerin waving back.
sunoo and danielle quickly walked away, but hanni noticed you linger a bit longer before picking up your feet and trying to catch up with your friends.
haerin raised a eyebrow at the way hanni eyes stayed fixed on where you once were. hanni wasn’t getting over you anytime soon, it was obvious to anyone at this point.
“hanni.” haerin called out to her.
“yes?”
“you need to get over her.”
a silent pause between the two proved haerin’s point, the latter sighing.
“i’m being serious, she’s destroying you.” haerin says.
“what are you gonna do once your off hiatus? aren’t you set for a tour later this year once your albums out?” haerin asks.
“i don’t know haerin, all my shits pushed back now.” hanni says, relaxing against the counter behind her.
“might not even get off of hiatus.” hanni says quietly, but loud enough for haerin to hear.
“don’t say that.” haerin warns, “hybe wouldn’t give you up.”
“are you sure? it seems like they already have.” hanni starts.
“it’s been forever now haerin.”
“hanni…”
“no don’t even say anything else, i’m just gonna get out of here i can’t do it anymore.” hanni says, grabbing her stuff.
“watch the others and tell matthew i said happy birthday and something came up.” hanni says, to which haerin nods.
haerin wasn’t going to fight with her anymore, they both knew well what was probably going to happen to hanni’s career.
haerin just wanted to keep postive.
hanni had no clue what she was thinking when she left that party. she had no ride, no hoodie to at least somewhat hide her appearance, and it was pouring rain outside.
hanni couldn’t break down out here, there was no telling if any paparazzi were around and she was already in trouble. she didn’t know what she would do if a headline got out, would it even matter anymore?
so she just sat there, staring at the ground before hearing footsteps. a voice perked up, presumably speaking to her.
“hanni what the hell are you doing—“ a familiar voice said, concerned.
“yn?” hanni said looking up.
“shit, i was hoping you wouldn’t recognize my voice.” you say.
“i don’t get drunk ever y’know that, wait nono— get away from me what did i tell you?!” hanni says in a panic.
“hanni, it’s late at night and it’s raining like crazy. can you at least let me take you home?” you say, to which she shakes her head no.
“i’ll wait for my friends.” hanni says, stubbornly.
“you can’t be serious.” you mumble, hanni not missing it.
“okay fine..” hanni says, she knew you didn’t have bad intentions.
“just don’t tell anyone, okay?” hanni warns.
“i won’t don’t worry, my friends are gone already anyways.” you say.
“then why are you still here?”
“i had a feeling.”
“what?”
“i had a feeling you would want to leave early.” you mumble.
“how did you have a feeling—“ hanni starts, getting cut off by you.
“okay maybe, i didn’t have a feeling.. i just knew, you don’t seem like the type to party.” you say, shaking your head.
you see hanni fight back her smile, making you laugh a bit.
“but anyways, here’s my car." you say, opening the passengers door for her.
"i have to sit next to you..?" she asks.
"okay." you sigh, you had done this to yourself obviously but it still hurt.
"get in the back then." you say closing the door, making your way over to the drivers.
“are you not gonna open it for me?”
“hanni.”
“okay sorry i’m getting in.”
the ride to hanni’s apartment building was silent, hanni on her phone the entire time ensuring haerin she found a ride home.
soon they reached hanni’s building and she got out.
“thank you.” hanni says, making you smile.
“anything for you.” you say quietly.
hanni walked off after, yn waiting to make sure she got inside safely before driving off. she knew hanni hated her bad, so the least she could do was keep her safe.
yn finally understood her feelings, she was in love with hanni pham.

On the Lookout
—Joel Miller x F!Reader
Summary: The excitement rolling through your veins as a new ranger in Jackson County turns into fear when you realize the true intentions of your partner.
Warnings: This is a dark fic. Noncon, unprotected sex, age gap (about over 20 years, reader is over 18), breeding kink, implied use of drugs, somnophilia. There may be more but kindly proceed with caution.
A/N: I know I promised something else but the pull of Joel is just too strong. As part of my sleepover, this is my second gift to all you amazing people. Might be a bit sloppy but oh well. Maybe some sort of spoiler if you haven't seen/played the game.

Purple and pink hues paint the sky, the beautiful sight making you smile as you peek out from the window of your garage home. The spring chill blows through the open pane, signifying a new day and the beginning of your new community duty as a ranger in Jackson County; a task you’ve been wanting since you and your dad joined the settlement.
The conversation you had with Maria two days ago is still fresh in your memory, how she pulled you aside while preparing lunch for the residents, looking at you with a worried expression while she explained the dangers of patrolling the perimeter. But such concerns didn’t dampen the excitement rushing through your veins, giving the county’s leader a smile of gratitude for giving you such a great opportunity to help the community along with a promise to do your best.
But doubts soon began swimming in your head as you watched the rangers take off that same evening. It made you think why, after several times asking Maria to switch your post, it’s just now that she agreed to the change. And your thoughts immediately shifted to Joel and Ellie finally having enough of your rambling about your distaste for working in the kitchen.
You don’t even question if Ellie caught on to your envy of her. That a kid of fifteen was already being one of the first picks amongst the others your age or older when going out to clear the area of infected and clickers alike. Though you try to reason with yourself that you’re good with a gun, Joel and Tommy said so themselves when you would tag along with the brothers and Ellie to go target practice at the edge of the county.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. You’re ready.” Joel said when he caught you that night and asked if you were finally told the good news. “Your daddy would be very proud of you.” He added and that was enough for you to believe in yourself.
You take your dad’s old revolver and run your thumbs against the cylinder. They were empty of bullets when Joel gave them to you, rendering the weapon useless. But still, you keep it safely beside you in your bed, a small trinket to feel his presence and to give you a sense of safety despite his absence.
A breath of surprise escapes you when a knock resounds on your door.
“You up yet, sweetheart?” Joel calls from the other side. “We’ll be on the first group to ride out.”
“I’ll be right there.” You call back, placing the gun back under your pillow and checking your pack, making sure you brought everything you need before zipping it close and heading to the door.
Joel greets you with a smile when you open the door. “You ready?” He breathes.
“More than you know.” He chuckles at your response and gives you a playful wink. He then cocks his head to the side and you follow him after setting the locks of your door in place.
As the morning light shines down from the heavens, you can’t help but notice the difference in Joel’s features. His hair is combed back and his beard looks freshly trimmed, far from the usual unkempt look that you’re used to seeing. There even seems to be a spring in his gait, a sense of ease washing over him and in extension, bleeding over to you.
The chatter at the stable takes your attention off of Joel, a nervous smile grazing your lips as the reality of your first day as a ranger begins sinking in. You follow Joel and group up with the others around Tommy, Ellie standing at your side and greeting you a ‘good morning’, one you return with the same exuberance.
“You ready to kick some infected butt?” She grins and you nod.
You can’t wait to learn the ropes and do something meaningful for the community that took in both you and your dad, to prove to them that you’re worth more than mixing stews and setting out plates at the mess hall.
You can’t wait to make your father proud.
“Ellie, you’ll be partnered up with me,” Tommy announces and you startle in surprise when Ellie cheers in excitement. “We’ll take the route east. The last patrol said they saw some infected scattered around the area.”
You tense slightly but make to hide it amongst the others. You didn’t want anyone to think you were weak and faint-hearted. That it was a mistake giving you a spot within the rangers.
You try to latch onto Ellie’s energy, keeping your morale high yet take some of Joel’s gravitas to give the impression that you’re serious about your job.
Once Ellie calms down, you scoot a little closer to her. “You’re not scared?” You whisper while Tommy continues giving the other pair their assignment.
“Scared of the infected?” She scoffs and then glances at Tommy. “A little, but Tommy will be with me and he’s a much better shot than Joel.” The grin on her face is mischievous, looking at your other side and sticking her tongue out at her surrogate father who only rolls his eyes at her.
“Aren’t you usually partnered with Joel though?”
“Yeah. Unfortunately.” She sighs playfully then stares ahead at the big wooden gates of the county. “But you’re here and he’s always partnered up with the new recruits.” She says matter-of-factly. “But don’t worry, you’re in safe hands. Tommy may be great with a gun, but Joel—he’s better at surviving.”
You suddenly stand in attention when your name is called, your heart pounding in nervousness as Tommy checks his ledger before facing you.
“You’ll be partnered with Joel.” Tommy nods to his brother and you look to your side to see Joel already looking at you. “You both will take the lookout tower by the west ridge. It may be the farthest but it is the safest.” He states, flipping another page in his notebook.
“Updates on infected in the area?” Joel inquires.
“None for three weeks now. Though Dylan mentioned he saw some at the next ridge over.”
“They’d have to fall off to get to us, so I’m not worried.”
“You’ll be able to spot them from the tower. You’ll just have to keep watch though if you can get rid of them, that would be better.”
“We’ll do what we can,” Joel assures.
“Alright,” Tommy shouts and the chatter in the barn quickly dies down, seriousness waving over in the atmosphere. “Y’all know the drill, children. Run your routes, mark your log books, and clear any infected you see along the way. And if you run into something you can’t handle, you come back home. Am I clear?”
A resounding ‘yes’ echoes through the stable.
You look around when the others disperse from the group, feeling a little lost on what to do next. But a hand on your shoulder takes your attention, looking up to see Joel standing close, his fingers drumming over the strap of your pack.
“You wait for me up ahead. I’ll grab our horses and guns.” You nod in agreement at his words and leave him to stand by the open gate.
Slowly, the settlement begins to wake up, the sun peeking out from the mountains on the horizon and shining its light from the sky. You still can’t fathom how normal everything feels living in Jackson as you watch the residents greet each other with happiness, that somehow, you’ve gained some semblance of your old life before the pandemic struck.
From where you stand, the threat of the outside world feels distant, and that nothing could go wrong as long as you stay within the walls. But since that night your dad came home after a night patrolling the area, his body laying lifeless in the arms of Joel, you became a cynic.
His luck eventually had to run out and the bite marks that decorated his body along with the bullet lodged into the side of his head only proved it to be true. Joel tried to explain what had transpired, apologies spilling from his lips while he stayed with you to mourn for your father. But you knew well enough to piece things together, that what Joel did saved him rather than kill him. And for that, you were grateful.
Though you can’t help but think when it’ll be your turn.
“Seem to be digging deep there, sweetheart.”
Blinking away your thoughts, you turn to face Joel as he nears you. The reins of two horses clasped in one hand while the other carries two rifles.
“Uhh, it’s nothing.” You smile and reach for one of the horses. “Just—just thinking about my dad.”
He stays silent but gives you a nod of understanding, thankful for the lack of questions or explanations others usually give when you talk about your father. But with Joel, you don’t feel obligated to show a strong facade, to lie about being okay because out of everyone who showed you sympathy, he’s the one who understands you the most.
Pushing the thoughts of your dad at the back of your head, you take a firm grip on the saddle and lodge your foot into the stirrup, a strenuous groan erupting from your chest as you struggle to hoist yourself up. You fail a couple of times, dropping back to the ground yet you only push yourself to try harder. But each attempt leaves you frustrated, only successfully slinging your upper body atop the animal before you slide back to the ground once again.
“Here,” Joel nears you and you huff out a breath. “Let me help you, baby,” You startle slightly when his hands find purchase on your waist, his face only a breath away from your own when he speaks. “Grab tightly on the pommel and at the count of three, you push your foot and pull yourself up, okay?”
“Okay,” You mumble, your face heating up in embarrassment.
“One, two—” You do as he says, fingers gripping tightly on the pommel as he continues to count. “Three.” Kicking off the ground, you grunt as you pull your weight forward. “Straddle, baby.” He instructs and you carefully lift your other leg to stride over the horse, a blush creeping up your cheeks when you feel his hand caress the curve of your ass, only pulling away when you successfully take a seat.
“Good girl.” He praises and you look down at him when he gives your thigh a light pat, the heat on your face spreading down to your neck. “You know how to work one of these?” His question comes all of a sudden, holding out the rifle for you to take.
You reply with a shake of your head.
“Best I show you when we get to the tower.” He hums but still lets you keep the weapon, gesturing for you to sling it over your shoulder. “You got a gun?” He asks.
“Only my dad’s but I kept it at home.” You frown. “No bullets.”
He nods then reaches behind him and holds out a small pistol. “Feels like it weighs nothing.” You comment as you grip the gun, amazed at how light it feels in your grip.
“That’ll help you move and attack faster.” He notes. “An infected comes running at you, it’ll only be seconds from when you take it out and pull the trigger.”
“Got it.” You stare back at the gun before stowing it in your pack.
“Now, here are a few things you have to remember.” The seriousness in Joel’s tone makes you tighten your grip on the reins, keeping your focus on him as he lays down the rules. “Stay close to me. If something feels wrong, or you hear something that didn’t come from either of us, you tell me. Are we clear?”
“Crystal.”
“Good. You’ll be okay,” He smiles, his hand resting once more on your thigh. “I’ll keep you safe.”
You smile back at him.
Without it being said, you trust Joel with your life. He’s taken it upon himself to look after you since your dad passed, even after insisting that he shouldn’t bother. But his persistence was impeccable and slowly, Joel became a constant entity in your life. And if there is anyone you could rely on to save you from any danger, it’s him.
If he and Ellie survived traveling all the way from Boston to Wyoming, a ride to the lookout tower would be nothing but a walk in the park.
“You alright, sweetheart?”
You try to hide your discomfort as you glance at Joel, huffing out your pain as the horse continues to jog you on his back. You and Joel have been riding for almost two hours and it was after the first stop that your lower back began to protest getting back on the horse and riding further up the incline of the ridge.
You thought you’d be okay, that you came prepared for the intensity of being a ranger. But with each step the horse takes and even with just a small bump on the dirt path, your back screams for you to stop.
“It’s my back.” You admit, frowning to yourself as you try to keep still to at least alleviate any of the pain. “It’s my first time riding.”
You hear him sigh and it’s enough to make you feel worse. You broke a rule; you didn’t tell him that something was wrong when he specifically told you to do so.
“Do you want to stop?” He asks, concern laced in his voice.
“How far til we get there?”
“About twenty more minutes if we keep this pace. Five if we run.” He confirms, moving his horse closer to yours before pointing up ahead at the tower that grows larger by the second. “Can you hold up til we’re there?”
“Yeah,” You agree breathlessly. “I can manage.”
A sigh of relief escapes your lips as soon as you arrive at the foot of the tower. You steer your horse by the stairs and grip tightly on the saddle as you try to ease yourself down. But Joel is quick, his hand already reaching for your hip while the other makes to grab your hand and free your grip on the pommel.
“Nice and easy, sweetheart.” He says softly. “Arm around my shoulders.”
You do as you’re told and wrap your arms around his neck, allowing your legs to freely slide off the back of the animal. Though before your feet could even touch the ground, Joel hooks his arm under your legs, effectively carrying you as he makes his way to the steps of the tower.
“You don’t have to, Joel.” You tell him, feeling awkward to be carried like some child. “I can walk.”
“Can you?” You blink in surprise at his sternness. “It’s four flights of stairs.”
Four? You look up at the tower and swallow thickly upon seeing how high it is up close. You want to say no and agree to have him carry to the top but you’re unsure if Joel would even make it himself. He’s not that old, and the strength he shows is usually unmatched for a man his age. But you’d rather be cautious than selfish and the last thing you want is to injure the both of you and have the others come to your rescue—that is if the infected or raiders don’t get to you first.
So, you gauge the pain that radiates from your pelvis and throughout your lower back, determining that if you pace yourself properly, you’ll be able to make it without much hassle.
“I’ll keep up.” You tell him earnestly. “If I fall, I’ll call for help.”
You think for a split second that he would agree with you and put you down but from the way his mouth slants and his forehead creases, you can already tell that he’s made up his mind.
“I promised your daddy I’d take care of you before he died.” He says as he begins climbing up the steps, your eyes suddenly stinging with unshed tears at the mention of him. “So that’s what I’ll do.”
You acquiesce to his decision and stay silent on the way up, keeping your arms locked around his shoulders while looking toward the trees scattering over at the next ridge over. The small ranger’s cottage takes your attention and your mind flutters into a daydream, thinking how peaceful it would have been to stay there alone and pass the time enjoying the scenery before the world went to shit.
You gasp in surprise when a couple of infected appear out of the blue, their screeches and grunts echoing throughout the vast clearing. You sense Joel stop from his ascent and you look up to meet his eyes, the worry ever-present in his hazel orbs.
“Infected.” You whisper and look back to the cottage, Joel following your line of sight, grunting before resuming his climb.
“We’ll take care of them.” He drones, his breathing slightly labored. “But we’ll take care of you first.”
The lookout tower is larger than you’ve anticipated, cleaner, and very much intact than the ones you’ve come across before. With the tower being the farthest checkpoint from Jackson, you’re certain that some of the night patrollers camp out here when the sun gets too low and the ride back is too dangerous to take. The single mattress lying in the corner is enough to prove your theory. And the cabinets lined on one side of the wall and locked shut with chains, you don’t doubt that it’s stocked full of supplies.
“You get comfortable,” Joel says as he takes you to the bed, a groan escaping his lips when he bends his knees and gently sets you down.
He makes quick work of you, hands taking hold of the straps of your pack and peeling it off your shoulders along with your leather jacket. Setting your things aside, he kneels in front of you and takes his bag next, flipping open the flap of a pocket and taking out an orange bottle with several pills sitting inside.
“How painful is it?” He asks. “From one to ten with ten being the highest.”
“A six?” You answer him, unsure.
You watch him hum in thought while he stares at the bottle, popping off the cap soon after and slipping two round white tablets into his palm.
“Better to take two, just to be sure you’ll be okay on our way back.” He states, taking your hand in his and placing the medicine in your hand. “Though you might get a little incoherent with it so best to lay down.”
Without hesitation, you toss the pills in your mouth and take the bottle of water he offers you to wash them down. You’re caught off guard when he suddenly places his hand on your cheek when you finish, your spine tensing as he runs his thumb across your lower lip—the gesture feeling too intimate—before pulling it down and urging you to open your mouth.
“Let me see.” He commands.
And you furrow your brow in confusion as to why he has to. You keep your mouth close but the tick in his jaw startles you. Doesn’t he trust you taking the pills? He wouldn’t be angry over that, would he? But nonetheless, you choose to disobey and part your lips for him to see your empty mouth.
“Good girl.” He grins and moves his finger under your chin to close your mouth again. But he keeps his hand on your face, his thumb rubbing light circles on the apple of your cheek before he pulls away, seeing the reluctance swimming in his eyes. “I’ll take care of the infected and keep guard while you rest. The medicine should kick in soon.” He says before taking hold of your shoulder and giving you a gentle push to lay down on the mattress.
You frown up at him. You should be helping him guard the tower and keep an eye on the perimeter yet here you are, first day on the job and you’re already a liability. Joel seems to notice your distress and places a hand on your hip, his fingers tickling the exposed skin.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart?”
“You’re supposed to be teaching me how to patrol the area.” You hiccup. “But you’re taking care of me instead. I’m sorry.”
“Hey, don’t be.” He coos and scoots a little closer to you. “This is all part of learning and we’ve learned that you need more practice on horseback.” He chuckles lightly but the mirth in his voice doesn’t penetrate your melancholy. “I’ll teach you how to ride when we get back home, but for now, rest. I won’t be able to defend you when you’re in pain.”
“Okay. Thank you, Joel.” You mumble and then groan when you start feeling light-headed. “I’ll just close my eyes for a bit.” You tell him, blinking your eyes several times when your vision goes blurry.
His response comes out muffled and you think it’s because the meds have finally entered your bloodstream. You don’t fight the drowsiness that consumes you, instead, you give in. The feeling of your shirt riding up your torso is the last thing you feel before the darkness completely takes over.
The sound of gunshots fills your dreams as the darkness continues to keep your consciousness at bay. A cool sensation kisses your skin, a groan which you cannot place coming from the void. You think it's you but you’re certain it’s someone else, though all thoughts fly away as you feel your body being moved, a tickle trailing from your calf and up to your inner thighs.
Your core burns and you mewl at the weird feeling building in the pit of your stomach. You try to move your hands, wanting to put a stop to it but your arms feel heavy, effectively pinning you to the bed. The fire grows stronger, heat prickling your entire body and you hear yourself once more, moaning softly and then loudly all at once.
You wake in a jolt, your eyes bursting wide as you pant heavily against the mattress, your hips trembling and your heart pounding wildly in your chest. You stare at the ceiling, dumbstruck as you try to piece together where you are. But you have trouble forming your thoughts when you feel your skin tingling once more.
You look down to see what’s causing it but your heart constricts when you see that you’re naked from the waist down, the top of Joel’s head resting against your stomach while he plants wet kisses on the length of your hips. His hand is unseen but your feel it caressing your inner thigh, a strangled groan escaping your throat as his fingers run up the folds of your wet cunt.
“Joel!” You shout and try to move your arms to push him away but you grunt instead, your body still too heavy for you to even move an inch.
“Sweetheart—” He drones and lifts himself to his knees, your eyes growing wide in fear when you see him stripped off of his pants, leaving him in only his shirt and boxers briefs. “You’re awake.”
“Wh-what are you d-doing?” Your voice trembles when you meet his hazel eyes. “What’s g-going on?”
A smile forms on his lips, one that looks kind and unassuming. But the way his jaw tightens and his nails digging painfully into your flesh, you immediately know that his sentiment is the complete opposite.
“I’m fulfilling my promise, baby.” Joel hums, taking both your hands in his and lifting them to his lips to press a kiss on your knuckles before pinning them on both sides of your head. “I’m taking care of you.” Tears slip from your eyes when he leans down, his lips pressing on the crook of your neck before trailing them up to your chin and finally capturing your lips with his own.
He starts out soft and gentle, exploring more than taking as if trying to savor the moment with you. But he becomes demanding all too quickly, forcing his tongue into your mouth and devouring your hungrily, swallowing your moans of protest as you try to struggle against him and free yourself from his grasp. Still, his grip on you is too strong and your efforts are useless as your body refuses to cooperate with your head.
You try to bite his tongue, to at least gain a sense of control of the situation but he pulls away just in time, a low and dangerous growl rumbling from his chest that has you cowering in dread. He furrows his brows and releases his hold on you, only to wrap his hand tight around your neck, panic driving you to move your hand and grab onto his wrist but your lack of strength leaves you helpless to his anger.
“I’d be good if I were you, baby.” Joel taunts, releasing your other hand and reaching down to cup his crotch before pulling himself free from his boxers. “We’re far away from Jackson and who’s to say you didn’t accidentally fall down the stairs and hit your head or that you were reckless and got a little too close to an infected and got yourself bit, huh?”
You gasp in shock at his words, fear running up your spine that he would insinuate such things blatantly.
“You wouldn’t—” You choke.
“You don’t think I can, sweetheart?” He laughs darkly, a reluctant moan escaping your lips when he begins rubbing the tip of his cock against your cunt. “You think Michael was stupid enough to get himself bit?”
It's as if the world stood still when you hear your father’s name come out of his mouth.
No.
He must have been jumped while patrolling the area, the infected outnumbering him and eventually leading him to his demise. But he had a partner then, surely they would have helped him right? You try to wrack your brain for information, something you missed while you were grieving your father’s death.
Then it hits you.
He was with Joel that night. It was him that brought his body back to the settlement.
It can’t be—Joel couldn’t have—
“Don’t worry yourself, baby.” Joel pulls you away from your thoughts, a devious smirk painted on his lips. “I promised him I’d take care of you, remember?”
“You murderer!” You shout but your voice dwindles down when he suddenly thrusts his cock in you, pain flaring on your hips as your walls stretch around him, his size too much to handle that you feel like you’ll be split in half.
He groans when he sits himself to the hilt, your pussy walls fluttering around him when he pulls back slowly only to push in once more, your body rocking against the mattress as he begins to roll his hips against yours, thrusting at an easy and languid pace.
“It’s just gonna be you and me, baby.” He drawls, a low grunt mixing in his voice with each thrust he makes.
His hand leaves your neck and moves to grab your tit through your shirt, fondling and squeezing while his other hand presses down on your stomach, his thumb rolling against your clit. Your body writhes from the unwanted pleasure that slowly crawls up your skin, your back tensing, and your cunt fluttering around his cock when he begins to quicken his pace, the sound of your skin slapping against each other taking over the silence that fills the lookout tower and echoes loudly in your ears.
Joel doesn’t relent and you lay weakly on the bed, succumbing to his strength and torturous depravity. Your tears roll down your face as you think of how it came to this. He killed your father for reasons you don’t know and now he’s taking advantage of you, betraying the trust that you have willingly given him and tainting the way you saw him, how you treated him as family.
He snaps his hips at a merciless rhythm, his pace growing erratic and desperate as he pulls away his hand from your waist only to grab onto your hand and pin it once again at the sides of your head. He growls and presses his forehead against yours, his musky scent mixed with the smell of your arousal wafting in your nose.
“Your mine, baby.” He groans.
A whimper leaves your lips when you feel his cock slide deeper in you, your mouth hanging open as you try to gasp for air, the intensity of his lust suffocating you, squeezing you tight. You let out a cry once your core begins to burn, the coil within tightening further and further that your mind goes blank from the bliss that wants to escape yet fight hard to keep your release at bay to not give him that satisfaction of bringing you such pleasure.
He whispers your name and you moan when he kisses you once more, sloppy and wreckless, teeth clashing against each other then yelping in pain when he bites down on your lower lip, tasting the metallic tang of blood scattering on your tongue.
“You feel so amazing, baby.” He groans as he presses his nose against your temple, his warm breath fanning over your face as you cry out once more when you feel yourself getting closer to your peak. “You’re so perfect—so mine.” His voice is low and possessive, his hand leaving your clit and hooking his finger into your mouth, pushing it down to keep your mouth agape.
You move your arm to wrap your fingers around his wrist, gripping it tightly as your spine arches and your body stills, a wave of sheer pleasure consuming you, drowning you when the coil finally snaps and you fall apart around him. Your pussy walls flutter around him and you moan incoherently, your juices coating his cock, lubricating him further and allowing him to thrust even faster, deeper.
But he doesn’t take long, stilling his hips and burying himself deep into your core, whimpering when spills his seed inside you, mixing with your own essence. Your name flows from his lips like a prayer as he keeps his face pressed on the side of yours with his lips sloppily moving against your cheek.
You're breathless and limp against the mattress, your body void of strength, and your mind slowly giving up and giving in to Joel's desires. You think of running away, of leaving Jackson and getting away from him. But you know such attempts are a suicide mission and without your dad, you're unsure of how far you'll make it before you get killed or before Joel catches up with you.
“I’ll take care of you, baby.” He repeats once more, unhooking his finger from your mouth and trailing his hand down to your breast, stopping to rest it over your stomach with his fingers lightly caressing your skin.
Your body shivers from his touch the implication bringing you dread. “And pretty soon, we’ll have a family of our own.”

So just curious. Care to share the story of how you coined chainshipping? That’s quite a claim to fame.
When I was fifteen, I made the Livejournal community named Chainshipping (seen above, linked here since it's still online atm) because I was a silly teen girl who just wanted men to kiss in all the media I ingested.
I vaguely remember actually deciding on the name, it was mostly being all "they are CHAINED to pipes. CHAINSHIPPING????" where the (blank)shipping name came from the fact I was still super big into Yugioh slash fiction, which used that kind of naming structure. Puzzleshipping, Prideshipping, Puppyshipping, etc. I do remember looking at the HUGE ass list of all the seemingly thousands of YGO ship names and when I saw Chainshipping was not one of them, I knew there wouldn’t be any cross-fandom confusion.
Years pass, I gave up ownership of the LJ comm (something I REALLY regret now), and I mostly just remember it all as something from high school. But within the last five years, I realize that people actually use the name still and it’s like ohhhhhh oh wow I didn’t realize it stuck like that.
For fun, here are some other historic(?) screenshots of me pimping out the community on one of the first Adam/Lawrence fics on fanfiction dot net, which did cause the first dozen or so members to join since the author then shared the community the very next chapter.
I constantly stalk the chainshipping tag both on Tumblr and Twitter, since I just adore seeing all the stuff about it (plus every time someone says it’s a dumb name I’m like well true 😂) and I’m hoping that I’ll get enough motivation to finish my WIP smut fic that I’ve been working on for mooooonthsssss. I’m trying to give back to the community with fanfics since my fic I tried to write back eighteen years ago is super bad 😂😂😂
Thanks for the ask, I love sharing my slice of fandom history!

I should have left before we moved. Hell, the whole reason we moved was because people started noticing the bruises I couldn’t hide as well. Fifteen years with Chris was now my nightmare. He wasn’t always a bad guy, but then again they never are, are they? We were high school sweethearts and got married five years after we graduated. We had our son Cameron just a few months later. It wasn’t until Cameron turned four that the abuse started. Maybe it was the stress from his job and having a child so young that made him start, but it’s no excuse. I was scared of him. For the first time since I knew Chris, I was scared of him.
It was a Friday night and Cameron was sick. I hadn’t been out of the house that wasn’t for groceries, taking Cameron to school, or an appointment in months. I had asked Chris if he could watch our son while I went out and had a girl's night. Mistake number one.
“You’re his fucking Mother, you take care of him. That’s your damn job.” He growled.
“Chris I haven’t been out in forever. The girls just want to-”
“Oh, bullshit!” He shouted and stood up.
“You just wanna go out and slut around some fucking club like the stupid whore you are! Am I not fucking enough for you? I mean come the fuck on Y/N, you don’t need to work because I fucking provide for you and that fucking kid, who now I’m not even sure if he’s fucking mine because you’re such a whore-”
“Of course he’s yours! I haven’t been with another man since high school!” I shouted back. Mistake number two. He raised his fist and slammed it into my face.
“Don’t you fucking talk back to me!” He shouted so loud I was worried he’d wake Cameron up. He didn’t need to see his Father like this. Tears slowly fell down my face as I looked up at the man I didn’t even recognize now.
“C-Chris, please… J-Just lower your voice or you’ll wake Cameron.”
“I don’t give a shit! You have a great fucking life with me and you’re sitting here trying to go out and cheat!” He screamed. He gripped me by the shirt and lifted me off the ground.
“You get the fuck in the kitchen and grab me a beer then fuck back off to take care of that kid like you’re supposed to.” He growled in my face and I nodded, terrified of what else he’d do. He shoved me away and I fell back to the floor. He sat back on the couch and glared at me.
“Fucking hurry up.” He said and I scrambled to do as he asked. I rushed into Cameron’s room and he was still out, thank God.
A few weeks later Chris was on a business trip and it was just Cameron and myself. I was so relieved to be rid of Chris for a bit, but I knew he’d be keeping track of me and checking the cameras he had hidden in the apartment. I had only found a few, but I had no idea how many there were. It didn’t help that just before he left he beat me as a reminder that I was stuck with him. He wanted to make sure I wouldn’t show my face in public, so I had plenty of bruises to try and cover-up. I did my best, but Cameron could still see a bit on my face. I had to lie and tell him I fell in the shower last night.
It was the last day Chris was gone and I needed to get more groceries. I made a quick list and grabbed my purse. I walked over to Cameron’s room and smiled as I saw him playing with his trucks.
“Hey baby, you wanna come to the grocery store with Mommy? I’ll get you a treat if you’re good.” I said and he smiled brightly at me.
“Otay Mommy!” He said and walked over to me. I picked him and and lightly tickled his stomach. He giggled and pushed my hands away.
“Let’s get your shoes on.” I said and walked to the front door. I sat him on the little bench near the door and helped him put his shoes on.
“Do you want me to carry you or do you wanna walk to the car?” I asked.
“Walk!” He said and I nodded. I helped him hop off the bench and opened the door for him. He walked out and I turned to lock the door.
“Pencer!” I heard Cameron shout and his little footsteps running off. I turned my head and saw him running towards our neighbor, Spencer. Cameron ran right up to him and hugged his leg, making Spencer look down at him.
“Hi.” Cameron said with his adorably goofy grin.
“Hey, Cameron.” Spencer said kneeling to his level. I quickly locked the door and rushed over to them.
“Cameron! I’ve told you not to just run off without me.” I said and he just smiled at me.
“But Pencer home.” He said and I gave Spencer a sheepish smile. Spencer stood up and Cameron walked over to my side, holding my hand. Spencer studied my face and his brows furrowed. He looked me over completely and cleared his throat.
“Are you alright, Y/N?” He asked and I forced a smile that I really hoped looked genuine.
“I’m fine. Cameron and I are just going grocery shopping since Chris is coming home tomorrow…” I said and he raised a brow.
“I-I don’t want to seem rude, but what happened to your cheek?” He asked and I felt my heart skip a beat and my eyes involuntarily widened a bit.
“Oh nothing, I just fell in the shower last night.” I said with a nervous laugh. Spencer stepped a bit closer and I flinched. I silently cursed myself for reacting when I knew Spencer would never hurt me. He was always so sweet, even if we didn’t talk a lot. He wasn’t home a lot and we simply had some small talk when we did see each other in the hallway. Cameron loved seeing him though, he always thought Spencer was cool.
“Who did this to you?” He asked in a whisper. I bit my lip and looked down at Cameron who was still smiling up at us. He didn’t hear Spencer.
“Spencer…” I whispered and shook my head. He looked down at Cameron and knelt down.
“Hey Cameron, have you ever seen an abacus?” He asked and Cameron looked at him confused. He shook his head and looked up at me.
“It’s an old calculator.” Spencer said, but he still looked confused.
“It’s helps people count.” I said.
“Oh! No.” Cameron said.
“Why don’t you and your Mom come inside and I can show you?” Spencer asked and looked up at me.
“Can we Mommy?” He asked.
“Uh, we should really go get the groceries.” I said and Cameron frowned. He gave me those adorable little puppy eyes and I sighed. I knew Spencer was just trying to distract my son so he could get some answers out of me.
“I-I guess a minute wouldn’t hurt…” I said and Cameron lit up.
“Yay! Fank you Mommy!” He said and hugged my leg. Spencer opened his apartment and Cameron rushed inside. Spencer motioned me to follow him and I hesitantly walked inside. It was very neat and there were books everywhere. Spencer placed his bags near the door and locked it. Cameron was picking up a book and looking it over. I walked over to him and gently took it out of his hands.
“We don’t pick up other people’s things without asking them, baby.” I said and he frowned.
“Sworry Mommy…” He said.
“It’s alright, he can look at it if he’d like.” Spencer said. Cameron smiled and I handed the book back to him.
“There aren’t any pictures so I don’t think you’ll enjoy it very much.” Spencer chuckled. Cameron frowned and put the book back where he found it.
“Can I see the abracadabra?” He asked and we both laughed a little.
“Abacus, baby.” I said and he looked at me confused. I shook my head and kissed his forehead. Spener walked into another room and came out with a very nice-looking abacus. He placed it on his coffee table and motioned Cameron over. He walked over and looked in awe of the beads.
“See you just move them up and down like this.” Spencer showed him.
“Each bead represents one and each row is a different place value and you just-”
“Spencer.” I cut him off and he looked up at me.
“He’s five. He’s not going to understand.” I said with a small smile and Spencer blushed.
“Right, sorry. Cameron, why don’t you play with this for a bit while I talk to your mom?” He asked and Cameron nodded with a huge smile. He was moving the beads and just having fun counting them. Spencer stood up and walked towards me. He motioned to the other side of the room and I glanced at my son.
“Be gentle, baby. Don’t break it, okay?” I said and Cameron nodded. I sighed and walked over to Spencer while keeping my eyes on my son.
“Who did this, Y/N?” He asked. I was so scared to tell him. I never wanted anyone to see me at my lowest, besides Spencer probably has his own shit to deal with.
“Spencer…” I sighed and shook my head. I looked at him and it was clear he knew something was wrong. He saw my bruises that were way too dark still to cover. He probably saw the way I tensed up when he stepped closer to me.
“I can help you, Y/N. I work for the FBI, if someone is hurting you I can help.” He said and my eyes widened.
“Y-You work for the FBI?” I asked and he nodded.
“Hold on.” He said. He walked over to his bag by the door and came back after he found something. He held out his badge and I carefully took it.
‘BAU SPECIAL AGENT Dr. Spencer Reid’ I read and looked back up at him.
“I-I can’t tell you… He’ll kill me, or my son, or both of us. I don’t have anywhere else to go and I don’t have enough money to leave him. He’s in control of everything…” I whispered as a tear fell down my cheek.
“Hey slow down, I’ll help you. I promise I’ll help you, my team will help you, but I need you to tell me who’s doing this to you.” He said and I shook my head. We both knew who I was talking about but Spencer needed me to say it. I flinched as I heard my phone ring and quickly dug through my purse to find it. Once I pulled it out my throat tightened. Chris was calling me. It was probably because I told him I was going to get groceries, but was still in our apartment building… My hands started shaking and Spencer gently took my phone for me. He looked at who was calling and saw it was Chris. He looked in my eyes and probably could see just how scared I was.
“Y/N I need you to say his name if I’m going to help you.” He said. I bit my lip and stared at him as the phone slowly went silent. There was ding after ding, signaling Chris was texting me. I gulped and took a deep breath.
“I-It’s C-Chris… He hits me, that’s why we moved here…” I admitted quietly.
“Does he hit Cameron?” He asked and I shook my head. He nodded and looked over at my son.
“Why don’t you go sit with Cameron? I’m gonna go call my boss and we’ll get this sorted.” He said and I nodded. Spencer walked into the other room and I took a seat on the couch as I watched Cameron play. He turned to look at me and his smile fell.
“What’s wrong Mommy?” He asked and walked over to me.
“Nothing baby, Mommy just got something in her eye.” I said and forced a smile. He didn’t look totally convinced, but it worked for now. He turned to play with the abacus more and showed me how well he could count.
It wasn’t long before Spencer walked back in and sat next to me. He still had my phone, but I guess he turned it on silent.
“Hey Cameron, how would you like to go visit the FBI office?” He asked and I looked at him with wide eyes.
“Yeah! Please, Mommy?” He asked. Spencer gave me a small nod and a reassuring smile.
“S-Sure baby…” I said and he jumped with joy. Cameron rushed to the door, but before I could scold him Spencer gently placed a hand on mine. I didn’t flinch.
“Do you know if he’s tracking your car?” He asked and I shook my head.
“I-I don’t know… m-maybe?” I said and he nodded.
“Okay, then you need to drive your car and follow me. I’ll keep your phone so you don’t need to worry about whatever he’s saying, okay?” He said and I nodded.
“Come on, Mommy!” Cameron called. I got up and scooped him into my arms.
“I can walk Mommy.” He said and I smiled.
“I know, baby, but I just want to hold you right now.” I said. We waited for Spencer to lock his door before we all headed down to the garage. I placed Cameron into his car seat and he was very excited to go see the FBI office. I wish it wasn’t because his Father is a monster, but he didn’t need to know that. I kissed his head and shut the door. I turned to find Spencer standing there watching us with a smile.
“Just follow me.” He said and I nodded. He stepped closer to me and gently grabbed my hand.
“I promise me and my team will keep the two of you safe.” He said and I nodded.
We each got in our cars and I filled the ride with Cameron’s favorite songs. He was singing and smiling the whole way there. Cameron was the only thing keeping me from breaking down right now. The ride to the office building wasn’t horribly long and I parked right next to Spencer. He gave me another reassuring smile and led the way up to the BAU. When we got off the elevator he led us inside and Cameron was looking around in awe. We walked through some glass doors and into a room filled with desks and a few private offices.
“Hey, pretty boy!” A man called and Spencer looked over at him. The man walked up to us and set his eyes on me.
“Oh and who might this be?” He asked with a smirk.
“This is my neighbor, Y/N, and her son Cameron. Y/N, this is Derek Morgan.” Spencer introduced us. I noticed him stare at my cheek and I glanced away slightly.
“It’s nice to meet you.” I said.
“Reid.” A man with a deep voice said. Spencer and I both looked at him and he was dressed in a suit. His face was hard and I couldn’t read any emotions from him. He motioned to another room. Spencer nodded and looked back at me.
“Maybe Cameron should hang out with one of my team members?” He suggested. I held him a little tighter and Spencer could tell I was scared. Spencer came closer and leaned next to my ear.
“Do you want him to hear everything we need to know?” He whispered and I gulped. Spencer pulled back and I gave him a small nod.
“I can watch him.” A blonde girl said with a kind smile.
“Y/N, Cameron, this is JJ.” Spencer introduced. I placed Cameron down and knelt down.
“Can you be good for Miss. JJ?” I asked and he nodded.
“You can just call me JJ.” She said and I nodded.
“Okay, I’m gonna be in that room over there with Spencer if you need me okay?” I said and he nodded.
“Otay Mommy!” He said and walked over to JJ.
“Do you catch bad people?” He asked and she smiled.
“Yeah, we do.” She said as she took him over to a desk. I got up and smiled. Spencer gently nudged me and I looked over at him. He motioned me to go ahead and I followed the emotionless man into the room. It had a small couch against the wall and a round table in front of a TV. Spencer closed the door after him and the man pulled the curtains closed.
“Y/N, this is my boss.” Spencer said.
“Aaron Hotchern.” The man said and held his hand out. I took it and gave him a sheepish smile.
“Please, take a seat.” He motioned to the couch and I sat down. Spencer sat next to me. Aaron sat in one of the chairs in front of us.
“Now, Reid informed me that your husband abuses you and keeps track of you?” He asked and I nodded.
“He’s been blowing up her phone, Sir.” Spencer said and passed him my phone. Aaron scrolled through my phone and his eyes hardened.
“He’s threatening your life and the life of your son.” He said and my heart skipped a beat.
“Please, you can’t let him hurt Cameron.” I begged, letting a few tears slip. Spencer held my hand and gently squeezed.
“We won’t let him hurt either of you.” He said and Aaron nodded.
“Can you tell me how long this has been going on?” Aaron asked.
“About a year. It started maybe a month after Cameron turned four? We moved here because I-I couldn’t hide the bruises as well anymore and Chris didn’t want to get caught…” I whispered. Aaron and Spencer shared a look before Aaron got up.
“I’ll be right back.” He said and left the room.
“What’s he going to do, Spencer?” I asked.
“He’s going to talk to the rest of the team and we’re going to help you.” He said and my eyes widened.
“Don’t worry, JJ won’t let Cameron hear anything. I promise.” He said and I nodded but bit my lip.
“Did you know more than 50% of domestic violence incidents go unreported?” He asked and I looked at him confused.
“W-What?” I asked.
“It’s because they’re scared of their partner.” He said.
“Why are you telling me this?” I asked.
“Because you’re being strong by letting us help. You told me when you really didn’t have to. You could have just picked Cameron up and walked off to the grocery store and pretended nothing ever happened. You could have stayed scared and continued being with Chris. But here you are.” He said and I stared at him in awe.
“I-I still am scared.” I said and he smiled.
“I know, but that’s okay.” He said.
“Why did you decide to help me? You could have just ignored us too.” I asked and his smile grew a bit.
“It’s my job to help people, I was on my way to work anyway.” He said and I actually giggled.
“Well thank you. I owe you big time.” I said and he shook his head.
“Y/N, it’s my job. You don’t owe me anything.” He said.
“Well, I’d still like to thank you somehow, maybe if I get some money back I can buy you dinner?” I asked and he blushed.
“U-Uh you don’t…” He cleared his throat.
“You don’t have to do that.” He said and I smiled.
“But I’d like to. If you can save me and Cameron from what Chris has become, then I’d really like to thank you somehow.” I said and he slowly nodded.
“I-I think this is the first time I’ve really seen you smile. I’ve noticed how they all looked forced, but I just assumed it was from work stress or from taking care of a small child.” He said and I blushed.
“Cameron is the only thing that makes me smile anymore. Well that and you helping us.” I said. The door opened and a blonde girl with an interesting-looking dress, along with a black-haired woman, walked in and Aaron followed after her. He shut the door and she sat down right next to me. Aaron sat in the chair and the black-haired woman sat next to him.
“Don’t you worry about a thing sweetie! We are going to take good care of you and that little bundle of joy out there. I’m going to hack into that tracker he has on your phone and Morgan is searching your car to see if he’s tracking that too. Then I’m going to work some of my magic and get you back in control of your accounts and you’ll be right as rain!” She said in an extremely happy tone. I stared at her with wide eyes and looked over at Spencer. He nodded with a smile and I looked back towards the girl.
“T-Thank you… You can really do all that?” I asked and she smiled.
“Of course I can! I’m a tech wizard!” She said and I smiled. I couldn’t stop myself from hugging her.
“Thank you so much, uh…” I said with more tears falling. She returned the hug and rubbed my back.
“Penelope. Right well. I’m going to go be your fairy godmother now. You’re in great hands.” She said and winked at Spencer. He blushed and she left the room.
“Y/N.” Aaron said, and I looked over at him and the woman.
“This is Agent Emily Prentiss.” He introduced. I wiped my eyes and smiled.
“Hi Y/N, I’m going to need to ask you about what Chris did.” She said as she pulled out a notepad. I took a deep breath and nodded.
“Okay, I need you to tell me everything he did in as much detail as you can. I’ll also need to take pictures of the bruises without makeup.” She said and I cringed a little. No one really knows how bad they were.
“O-Okay.” I said.
“We can take you to the hospital and make sure there isn’t more serious damage.” Aaron said.
“Oh no, that’s okay.” I said.
“We need to, Y/N, for the report.” Spencer said and I gulped.
“Cameron can’t see, Spencer…” I said.
“Do you have anyone you trust to watch him?” He asked and I shook my head.
“Both my parents are dead, I don’t have any siblings, and my friends are all friends with Chris… I told you, I’m alone in this.” I said, a tear slipping down my cheek.
“I can’t lose him, Spencer…” I said, more tears falling.
“Hey, you won’t lose him, okay? I can see if JJ can watch him, she has kids his age.” He said and I bit my lip.
“That’s too much I can’t ask that.” I said.
“Y/N, we really need to take you to the hospital.” He said. His sweet, kind eyes were begging me to agree.
“We need to make sure there isn’t more serious damage.” He added.
“T-There is…” I whispered.
“Y/N, I need you to tell me everything.” Emily said. I took a deep breath and looked up at her. I saw my phone light up and his name flash on the screen. I gulped and Aaron picked up the phone to look at it.
“I know this will be hard, but I need you to talk to him. Can you do that?” He asked and my eyes widened.
“Hotch, you can’t ask her to do that. She’s terrified.” Spencer said. The phone stopped ringing and Aaron sighed.
“He’s going to call back, let me get Garcia and she can track it.” He said and left the room.
“B-But he’s out of the state, he’s not coming back until tomorrow.” I said confused.
“He could have come back early.” Emily said and I felt my throat tighten. My breathing became heavy and I felt a strong need to get Cameron and run as far as we could.
“Hey Y/N, it’s okay, you’re safe here. Just breath.” Spencer said and gently turned my head to face him.
“H-He’ll kill us…” I whispered in a shaky breath.
“No, we won’t let him, just take a deep breath.” He said and took an exaggerated breath. I tried to follow him and eventually calmed down by the time Aaron and Penelope returned. She sat down and opened her laptop.
“Alright, next time he calls I’ll be able to know exactly where he is.
“You need to keep him talking for as long as possible,” Emily said as she moved to sit next to me. I nodded and my phone lit up again. Chris. My hands were shaking and I felt Spencer place his hand on my thigh.
“It’s okay, he can’t hurt you here.” He said and I nodded. I took a deep breath and answered the phone, putting it on speaker.
“Hey, honey.” I said, trying to sound as normal as possible.
“Where the hell are you? You said you were going to the grocery store and now I can’t see where the fuck you are.” He growled.
“I was just taking Cameron to the park first.” I said, hoping my lie sounded convincing.
“You didn’t fucking ask permission to go to the fucking park! You probably left our son at him by himself and went to go get fucked like the stupid whore you are!” He shouted.
“No, Chris I-”
“Shut your fucking mouth! I’m going to fucking kill you and find a proper bitch to take care of MY son.” He said and hung up. I dropped my phone and started breaking down. Spencer wrapped an arm around me and gently rubbed me up and down.
“Garcia, anything?” Aaron asked.
“He’s on the highway, it looked like he’s going to her phone's last location which is-”
“Here…” I whispered. I quickly stood up and headed for the door.
“Y/N, where are you going?” Spencer asked, following me to the door.
“Home.” I answered and went to open the door, but Spencer stopped me.
“He said he’d kill you.” He said and I sighed.
“He’s said it before and hasn’t done it. He’ll just hit me.” I said and Spencer shook his head.
“I can’t just let you leave and go back to that. He came home early all because you didn’t go to the grocery store. You don’t know when he’ll snap.” He said and I shook my head.
“What if today’s the day that he hits Cameron?” He asked and I turned to face him.
“I would never let that happen.” I said and he sighed.
“Please, Y/N, we can help you.” He said and I dropped my hand from the handle.
“I-I have pictures… of what he did to me…” I said and they all looked at me.
“Where are they?” Emily asked.
“My phone, in a hidden folder.” I said. She picked it and and started looking for it.
“Hotch.” She said and showed him the phone. He nodded and looked over at us.
“Y/N, you and your son need to stay here. If your husband is really coming to try and kill you then this is the safest place. Is Morgan still searching her car?” He asked Penelope.
“Yes Sir.” She answered.
“Good, I’ll let him know Chris is on his way and we can meet him down there.” He said and Emily nodded.
“Reid, you can stay up here with Y/N.” He said and Spencer nodded. They all left the room and it was just Spencer and myself.
“W-What about Cameron?” I asked.
“JJ will watch him still, Hotch won’t let him know anything.” He said and I nodded.
“I want to see him. I need to hold my baby, Spencer.” I said.
“You will okay? Just calm down a bit.” He said and gently pulled me in for a hug.
“Just breath, Y/N. Then I’ll go get Cameron and you can hold him as much as you want.” He said, rubbing my back. It took me a little bit, but I managed to calm down. Spencer was a huge help and I pulled back, smiling at him. I wiped my tears and reached into my purse to check that the makeup was still in place. Thank God most of it was and I just had to fix it a little bit.
“Let me go get Cameron.” Spencer said and walked out of the room. I closed my eyes and tried my best to keep my breathing normal.
“You’re safe here.” Spencer’s words repeated in my head.
“We’re safe here.” I whispered to myself.
The door opened and I looked over to see Cameron laughing as Spencer tickled his side. I smiled and the sight made my heart skip a beat. Spencer was such a good person. Cameron looked over at me and his smile only grew.
“Mommy!” He said and squirmed in Spencer’s hold. Spencer let him go and he ran up to me. I pulled him onto my lap and hugged him tightly.
“Mommy, too tight…” He mumbled and I pulled back a bit.
“Sorry baby.” I said and he looked at me confused.
“What’s wrong, Mommy?” He asked and I shook my head.
“Nothing baby, everything is gonna be okay.” I said and kissed his head. I looked up at Spencer and he nodded at me. Everything is gonna be okay.

Fuck it Friday 💚🧡🩷❤️💜💙
Hello my friends, thanks for the tags @eddiebabygirldiaz @inell @repressedqueen @tizniz @loveyouanyway @loserdiaz
So today I’m doing something a bit different cos why not.. this week I got a comment on an older fic from ao3 user starspangledwriter (hello) that lead to a lovely conversation about the Buddie of it all and why they mean so much to me. The person I was chatting to suggested it might be nice to share here, so I am.
And also just to say this is what i think we writers love/hope for with comments, it’s not about wanting people to say nice things (which is obviously lovely) but having a chat about my beloveds and the story I created.
And speaking of the story… here it is if you want to check it out.
Fifteen Minutes 1.4k
“You look happy.”
Buck smiles at Eddie because he’s right, he is happy. He hasn’t been for a while but today he is, he might not have everything he wants but right now he’s happy to be in this place with these people.
He takes a deep breath and says that around his smile “I am.” He scans Bobby and Athena’s living room takes in its occupants all chatting and laughing together. “Everyone I love is here.” He looks at Eddie expecting to see him smiling but he’s sees a frown instead. Eddie doesn’t look at him when he says,
“I didn’t see Taylor arrive. Is she here?”
Oh yeah that. He hasn’t actually told Eddie yet has he.
“Um no” he says casually. He can see Eddie trying to process that, he’s adorable when he’s confused.
“But you just said.”
“I know what I said.” He replies also not looking as he confirms the news that Taylor is not here and that he’s worked out he doesn’t love her. There’s a pause, he can’t resist a quick look at Eddie so he catches it when it finally clicks. Eddie says “oh” and Buck sees a smile flash across his face like quicksilver before he wipes it away. There and gone again, so quick Buck might have imagined it. He’s pretty sure he hadn’t though. There’s another moment of silence before Eddie asks the question good friends are supposed to in these circumstances.
“You ok?”
“Yup like I said everyone I love is here. I’m perfect.”
He should probably distract Eddie or he might get interrogated as to why he’s broken up with his girlfriend and that’s a conversation he’s not keen to have. He doesn’t like lying especially to Eddie and any explanation as to why he did what he did is going to reveal more than he’d like.
He can practically hear Eddie thinking, his mouth opens and he just knows the next sentence is going to start with why so Buck jumps in.
“Did you know the Ancient Greeks thought there were 7 types of love.”
Eddie’s expression changes instantly and settles into something softer as he says “No Buck I didn’t, but I guess I’m about to find out huh?” He thinks Eddie looks quite happy about it. No one else looks at him like that when he’s infodumping. It makes him feel warm all over.
“Well” Buck twists towards Eddie and leans in without thinking.
There’s philia that’s family love so like how I feel for Maddie and Chim. Bobby and Athena too really and Hen. That’s for the people you love and trust cos you know they’ll always be there for you.
Eddie nods.
“All of us have kinda got agape; that’s universal love for others, it’s why we do what we do, help people.”
And like Hen and Karen they’ve been together for years so they’ve got pragma that’s long lasting love, it’s just there warm and steady. But they’ve got eros too, that’s you know, desire and stuff.”
Eddie chuckles “I guess Bobby and Athena have that if the firefighter role play is anything to go by.”
“Eww I just told you they’re like my parents, why would you do that to me. It was bad enough first time round.” He shakes himself to clear the image and Eddie laughs.
“What else? That’s only five.”
He carries on “Well there’s ludus” he’s hoping to skim over the last two “that’s about sex without commitment, just for fun.” He doesn’t say that’s what he had with Taylor and that was why he’d ended it. He doesn’t say he wants something different from life now and that he’d thought he could find it with her but he'd been wrong.
Eddie purses his lips and nods “ok” that seems to be it, Eddie seems happy to move on from that one too.
“And there’s the love parents feel for their kids that’s called storge.”
“So what I feel for Chris and what Bobby feels for you?”
He can feel his cheeks heating “You and Chris yeah, for sure” he looks over at Bobby, it’d be nice if Bobby felt like that. His thoughts must be written all over his face or maybe Eddie’s just good at reading him.
“I think he does” Eddie says gently, Buck shrugs the colour high in his cheeks.
“What about you and Chris?” Eddie asks. Buck hesitates, cheeks getting pinker by the second. He doesn’t know how he’s supposed to answer that. Which answer Eddie wants. He risks a look at him, he looks the same, smiling fondly. He waits and when Buck doesn’t answer he says “You're allowed to feel it you know, say it, if you want to.”
“Am I?” All his doubts are on show.
And the rest is on ao3 🩷

Dads with daughters - if they don’t despise them - usually threaten boyfriends or suitors with something along the lines of “if you cross my daughter or make her cry, i’ll break your jaw,” and mine was no exception. Unlike most of those dads, he actually could. His ultimate, go-to threat was that if any boy hurts me, he will take them to jail. He did once. That guy was involved in some illegal marihuana deals and owned a gun without any permission, so he went to jail for actual reasons.
With my single dad being a cop, I used to spend my free time at the police station where he worked whenever he couldn’t find anybody to babysit me. Luckily, his co-workers didn’t mind, and often took care of me while I was there. The last time I visited that station was when I was around fifteen, after that I was allowed to stay at home alone for days. Up until that, I had to be supervised at the station. It wasn’t as boring as it may sound at first, there is lots of exploring to do and many gadgets to ruin. I didn’t do the latter. Maybe once, as an accident, but it got fixed up real quick. My dad’s colleagues taught me how to shoot a gun, which my dad disapproved of. I was seven years old back then, of course he did.
It’s been almost a decade since that happened, and now, I’ve been invited to a get-together to celebrate my father’s promotion at the station. It was well-deserved, he’s done many great deeds and had been working hard, harder than anyone. I was tasked with the food. I thought that the best would be to make pizzas and something sweet for dessert, maybe some of those mini pretzels for a snack, but there was no way I’d make the latter. There are shops for that.
“How’s the progress?” My dad asks, sneaking up on me.
“Almost done,” I answer, adding the finishing touches.
“Hm, they look good,” he says, taking one of the freshly prepared cupcakes.
“You’ll get them at the station, until that, no more!”
I load the two boxes into the car, dad sitting in the driver’s seat picking the music while he waits.
“I could use a hand here,” I call out.
“Grow a third one,” he replies calmly.
I hop into the car. Dad revs up the engine, and the vehicle finally gets moving.
“Lots of things have changed since you were last there,” he starts the conversation.
“Like what?”
“I got some new coworkers, you’ll like them. We also renovated some rooms.”
“You mentioned the renovations before. I remember that you ruined most of your jeans because of it, we had to throw out like ten pairs because they all had paint on them and I couldn’t wash it out.”
“The good old times,” he sighs. “It’s been real lonely since you moved away. Feel free to move back if you feel like it.”
He parks the car in the tiny parking lot of the police station. He sits in the car, immersed in the song playing on the radio.
At the ripe age of twenty, I moved to my own tiny house. Up until that point, I didn’t even stop to think that he might feel alone. I made a mental note that I’ll make sure to visit him more often now.
“You’re not going in?” I ask.
“Do I need to? There’s gonna be lots of people,” he whines.
“I thought you were my dad, not my son.”
“Go, get the food out from the trunk, in the meantime, I’ll mentally prepare myself,” he instructs.
With a sigh, I get out of the car, and lift the trunk open.
“You need help with that?” an unknown voice asks.
I turn around to find a man leaning against the wall, a cigarette between his fingers. Light smoke swirled around him as he stepped forward.
“I think I can handle it,” I nervously answer.
“Here, let me,” he says, taking one of the boxes from my hand with a gentle move.
My dad gets out of the car.
“Shanks, good to see you!” He greets the man next to me. “I see you already found my daughter.”
“This fine lady is your daughter? You better watch out, then,” he smiles at him mischievously.
“Don’t you dare, Red Hair!” Dad replies.
“At least he helped me with the boxes,” I intervene.
“Your pa didn’t?”
“He told me to grow a third arm.”
The red haired man chuckles, looking over to my dad.
“Not too nice of you, Hank,” he says, walking off with the box.
Inside gathered a swarm of people. Some people I knew, some I didn’t. Dad did say he got some new coworkers, and I assumed this red-haired man was one of them. Most of them wore their regular uniforms, some, who were off-duty that day, had casual clothes on.
I place the box on one of the tables, the red-haired man following suit. I take the food out of the said boxes, placing them onto separate trays and plates.
“Where can one get this food from? Looks delicious,” he speaks, picking up a slice of pizza. Luckily it was still fresh enough.
“From me,” I answer.
“Thank you, it’s nice to hear someone appreciating it,” I reply.
“You made all this? Impressive, I might just move to your house only for the food,” he says before taking a bite of the dish. “No, not might. Definitely.”
I chuckle at his statement.
“Your dad doesn't? He should, it’s amazing,” he says, his mouth still stuffed.
“Even if he does, he doesn’t say it out loud.”
“Are you a chef or something? Or is this just a hobby of yours?”
“More like a hobby. I work in an office, I hate it. I want to see the world or do some action, y’know.”
“Of course I do. I wanted action too, that’s why I’m an officer. They still give me paperwork, but when there really is some action, it’s worth it. We can teach you some things if you want.”
“You really would?” I enthusiastically inquire.
“Why not? I’ll do it in exchange for more food of yours. Deal?”
“Deal,” we shake hands.
“So first, I really want to teach you how to shoot a gun. You did that before?” He asks, walking back and forth in front of me.
“A few times, many years back.”
“You remember how to do it?”
I hold the handgun firmly, bringing it upwards. I lock my eyes on the target, an old soda can that he likely got from the trash, and I pull the trigger. The bullet was close, but flew by the can. I lower my hand in defeat.
“Mostly.”
“Here,” he says, handing me a handgun, “aim at that can right there.”
“Give it another try,” he encourages.
I lift my arms back up, aiming again. This time, the bullet made a dent into the can.
“That’s it! Off to a good start,” he speaks, patting my shoulders. “Maybe your posture is the only problem I had, though really minor.”
He comes closer, behind me. He gently places his hand on my arm and adjusts my shoulders.
“There you go,” he whispers next to my ear.
“Officer,” my dad interrupts.
“Yes sir?” The red-haired man turns to him. “Keep the posture,” he instructs me.
“Is that my daughter?”
“Yes sir.”
“Please don’t call me sir. Makes me feel old,” my dad grunts, walking closer. He comes to a halt next to me, observing me. Please don’t take the gun away, please don’t take the gun away…
“Keep up the good work. Teach her good, officer,” says my dad, walking back to where he came from.

May Prompts (15) Nightmare
The Luckiest Girl in the World (chapter 15)
Summary: Rosie tells us about her family's sanctuary that is 221B, but also about wars over board games. In the end, it's the story about someone else who also needs a safe haven.
Fifteen Years Old
I felt oddly protective of our home from an early age, and I didn’t want it invaded by my friends. Not that I was ashamed of all the bric-a-brac, Papa’s experiments, or how different it was to other homes I’d visited. It was just...our space, a safe haven where we all could lower our guards, Papa in particular. Over the years, his fame had increased exceedingly, and his derisive façade kept journalists and fans at bay. The moment he entered 221B, he discarded said façade by hanging his coat on the peg.
Another thing to consider, were the battles that always ensued whenever one of us challenged the others to a board game. Having an outsider witnessing that…well, we’d surely be sectioned for life if that were to occur.
(More likely, the person would be granted vicious dreams for eternity.)
But as Papa points out; there’s always something. In this context, someone. My friend Liwia. Her parents were Polish, and moved to England two years before Liwia was born. They were Catholics, and having to adjust to a society that was more liberal toward queer people than Poland, took its time. When Liwia came out to them as a lesbian the year prior, they’d tried to pin it on her friendship with me. I was after all related to quite a few of the sort and Liwia’s parents seemed to believe the ludicrous lie that queerness was contagious.
It took them some months to get over it, but once they realised that Liwia still was her normal self, they discarded the original idea of sending her to Poland to live with her strictly religious grandparents. Neither of the Barczykowskis was prepared when said grandparents announced that they were visiting London that summer, staying for at least a fortnight.
***
Dad and I were in the middle of a Scrabble war, when Papa came home. Not that we realised it at the time. We were too engrossed in arguing.
“It’s bloody unfair to use all the medical terms and diseases you can come up with to win, you know!” I exclaimed accusatory.
“Oh, come now, Rosebud,” Dad teased, looking as pleased as the cat that ate the canary.
“Don’t you dare Rosebud me,” I said through clenched teeth.
Dad only used that pet name when we were at war over the board games, and it rubbed me up the wrong way.
“Children,” Papa chastised, barely able to suppress his glee.
“You’re home,” we said in unison.
I waited for the inevitable eyeroll and his obviously, but none came.
“We have a guest,” Papa said and waved a hand, and that’s when I saw Liwia standing by the sofa wringing her hands, a look of despair in her eyes.
I leapt to my feet and walked over to hug her tight.
“What’s wrong?” I whispered into her hair.
She explained about her grandparents, and with just one look over at Papa, receiving a nod, I turned back to assure my friend that she could stay at Baker Street for as long as she needed, if her biased grandparents started to make her life a living nightmare.
“Thank you, Mr. Holmes and Doctor Watson,” Liwia said politely.
I could literally see the relief wash over her, the tension in her shoulders dissipating and a tiny smile forming on her lips.
“Please, call us John and Sherlock,” Dad said.
Then he turned his attention to me with a devilish grin.
“Does this mean you declare defeat, Rosebud?”
“You wish!” I snarled and left Liwia’s side to go into battle with my father.
(Before you go all bananas on me - this will continue tomorrow...)

Prompt: Gluttony | Word Count: 1313 | Rating: T | CW: Religious fanaticism, food horror | POV: Eddie | Pairing: None | Tags: Eddie, Gareth, Jeff, Matt (Freak), food challenges, Gareth has a bad time, horror because it's Halloween!
Eddie wasn’t expecting to end up like some suburban mom when they go on their first van tour. He doesn’t really eat much anymore; the bat attack didn’t just leave him with scars on the outside. But the guys are like baby birds, mouths permanently open waiting for someone to drop Wendy’s burgers into them. That someone being Eddie.
The little birds are hungry, and because he can’t take Gareth’s whining anymore he agrees to stop in some podunk town in the middle of nowhere. There’s no Wendy’s here though, just a little diner on the side of the road that doesn’t look all that promising from the outside, but there are people inside so the food must be edible. And honestly, Eddie doesn’t really give a shit because he’s not going to be eating any of it anyway.
“Glutton Stop?” Gareth grumbles, as he climbs out of the van and stretches his back. “Sounds great.”
“Are you hungry or not?” Eddie snaps.
Three pairs of shoulders shrug simultaneously, which he takes as a yes. They head inside, a little bell above the door alerting everyone to their presence. It’s oddly dark and out of date; less ‘Happy Days’ and more ‘Seen Better Days’, but through the gloom they find one table free, right in the middle of the restaurant.
Everyone is staring at them. Matt elbows him and nods towards the huge cross above the diner counter. Fucking great. It sets his teeth on edge instantly; even before everything that happened Eddie didn’t really like to stand out in places like this. He was all for pushing buttons, but small buttons. Even Eddie has the smarts to be cautious when he strays away from home.
Jeff turns the menu over. “This place is kind of expensive.”
He’s not wrong, but they just caused a lot of fuss and attention walking in and everyone is watching them like hawks.
“Let’s just order drinks and fries and get the hell out of here,” Eddie says quietly.
A waitress approaches and runs through all the specials they definitely can’t afford.
“What’s that?” asks Jeff, pointing at a yellowed poster on the wall.
The waitress beams. “That’s the Glutton Burger. If you finish it in forty minutes your whole table eats free.”
They all perk up, excited grins spreading across their faces.
“It doesn’t look so bad, right?” Eddie says looking at the picture. A huge burger in a bun, massive side of fries, waffles, hash-browns, and a large milkshake topped with cherries and cream. He could have eaten that when he was a kid, no problem.
“We could totally do this!” Jeff says excitedly, looking at Matt.
They’re all looking at Matt.
“Who is ‘we’?” he says shortly. “Oh, because I’m a little husky I’ll do it? Fuck you. Also, I’m vegetarian.”
Gareth frowns. “Since when are you—”
“Well I can’t do it,” Jeff cuts in. He points at his mouth. “Braces.”
“Okay, well may I remind you all of that I lost roughly five feet of intestines and two thirds of my stomach last year. I’m lucky I’m eating solid food, so I will not be partaking. Gareth? You’ve been complaining of starvation for the last three hours. What do you say?”
Gareth loves a challenge, there’s no way he’s saying no, so fifteen minutes later a huge tray of food is delivered to the table. It’s a lot bigger than it looks in the photograph. Eddie squirms.
“Ma’am, in the unlikely event that my friend here doesn’t finish, how much—”
“Gluttony is costly,” smiles the waitress. “Forty dollars. Plus whatever you guys ordered.”
Shit. They’ve got less than twenty between them until the next gig, and that includes gas money. He puts his hand on the back of Gareth’s chair and leans in.
“Gareth, no pressure, but we’re pretty fucked if you don’t finish this.”
Gareth stares at him open mouthed. “No pressure? Really Eddie?”
A bell clangs behind them and the entire restaurant's eyes are on them. Eddie’s skin crawls.
An old man, severe and bald, comes to the table, arms out like he’s preaching to the other diners. The diners look at him seemingly awestruck.
“What is your name son?”
Gareth shoots Eddie a look. “Uh— Gareth?”
“We are about to watch Gareth commit the sin of gluttony.”
There’s sounds of excitement from all around them as the man drops his hand onto Gareth’s shoulder making him flinch. “May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”
Eddie’s heart in his mouth.
“What the fuck is happening?” Jeff whispers to him.
Gareth’s eyes are wide. “Eddie…?”
Matt is saying something but Eddie can’t hear him over the sound of the blood rushing in his ears. He reaches out for Gareth.
“Hey, hey! Listen to me. They’re just trying to weird out the tourists, okay? Ignore ‘em. You’re best friends with the head of a murder cult, right?” He laughs but it’s hollow. “So fuck ‘em. Eat your burger. Chew it like your life— just, uh, chew it really well, okay? You got this man.”
Gareth nods weakly. “I’ve got this.”
The bell rings again, Gareth’s signal to start.
The burger is so big he can’t lift it off the plate, so he digs in with a knife and fork. He takes the first bite quickly, frowning slightly as he chews, but Eddie knows something is wrong when he goes in for the second.
“I think it’s raw.”
“What?” Jeff asks, leaning in for a closer look. His jaw drops open. “Gareth, don’t look!”
Gareth’s eyes are on stalks. “What the fuck do you mean, don’t look!” he says as Jeff grabs his face.
Eddie leans over to get a look at the burger. His hand flies to his mouth.
Jesus fucking Christ. His stomach roils
“Gare, don’t look at that!” he says, his voice shaky. “We’re leaving.”
Eddie hears the click of deadbolts before he even turns in his seat.
“Is there a problem?” the old man says from behind him.
Eddie gets to his feet, the chair scraping along the linoleum. “Yeah, there’s a fucking problem.” There’s a wave of shocked murmuring behind him. “This isn’t funny.”
“Oh, I am with you there, son. There is nothing funny about sin.”
“You can’t give—” he gesticulates wildly toward Gareth’s plate, “whatever that is—”
“He ordered it.”
“He ordered a burger!”
“And that is what we gave him.”
“That isn’t beef!”
“Never said it was.”
He glances across at the table, at Gareth’s pale face being held in Jeff’s hands. At Matt staring open mouthed at Gareth’s plate. He needs to get them out. Get the cops, because that isn’t— it can’t be—
He looks around the diner wildly; there’s a man standing at the front door with a shotgun, another in front of the bathroom door. The line-cooks guard the counter.
He realises, finally, that no one else is eating. The books in front of them aren’t menus. They’re bibles.
Holy shit.
“Okay, look,” he says, breathless and frantic. “If you let us go we won’t tell the cops, I swear.”
“You’ll leave when he has finished his meal, and not a moment before.”
“Wait, what—” Eddie’s stomach clenches, he can feel the burn of acid in the back of his throat. “What happens if he can’t finish it in forty? What if it takes longer?”
The man stares at him sharklike.
“Pray that it doesn’t.”
The van is quiet afterwards, just the sound of the highway coming in through the open windows. They pull over occasionally so that Gareth can be sick at the side of the road, then they clean him up and carry on for another twenty miles or so until they do it all again.
Eddie drives as far as he can as fast as he can, and they don’t stop until they make it back to Indiana.
This prompt fought me tooth and nail, hence my tardiness. I genuinely started this as something funny and light... and I don't know what happened. Can't help myself. Also sorry for typos, it was a bit of a rush at the and I'm kind of going blind to it... point them out if you see them! Now I just have to tackle Lust...

little snippet from a buddie outsider pov future fic that i probably won't ever finish because its part 3 of a series, or aka the Bobby-fication of Buck
"I was told to report to Captain Diaz?"
The man, with Diaz clearly written on his name tag, stares. It's not the most friendly of stares but it's not that kind of a stare and Kori had his fair share of them as a brown boy who consistently used public transport and worked night shifts. He'd expected to have a welcome that wasn't the warmest but he at least wanted some kind of verbal acknowledgment.
Well, this is awkward, he thinks, why is he not saying anything?
Kori woke up bright and early today, excited and anxious for his first day, over an hour before his alarm started blasting, and then made sure he had his bag packed with all the essentials he would need on a twenty-four shift. Four different sets of clothes, five meals in Tupperware, protein bars, a book, headphones, towel, shampoo and shower gel, the basic firefighting manual from the academy and his paramedic textbooks. He prepared to be too prepared rather than embarrass himself by asking to borrow shampoo on his first day.
He arrived at the firehouse via Uber because public transport in LA couldn't be reliable and he also couldn't afford a car and then he had stood panicked on the side of the truck bay for about fifteen minutes before checking his email again for the right names — Captain Diaz, 118 Ladder Company — all along to the schedule in his head.
And now the guy, he's just—standing there. Staring at Kori like he's debating whether he should eat him alive or roast in the oven beforehand.
The thing is, Kori knows he’s disappointing for a firefighter. He’s barely five foot seven, five foot six without the boots, really, and he’s lean and slim, in a way that would make some people doubt whether he can carry a person out of a burning building — he can — and he’s, well, he’s average.
But the One-Eighteen is stuck with him for the year, he might be average and disappointing, it just doesn’t matter. Because they are stuck with him.
He still hasn’t seen Firefighter Buckley.
"Are you Captain Diaz?"
He looks a bit young, for a captain, but he is pretty sure there have been younger ones in the history of LAFD. And Diaz is a common surname, in California, or common enough that it wouldn’t be impossible to have two people with it in the firehouse even if still a bit improbable.
"Oh," he says, looking down at the nametag on his chest, finally noticing where Kori's been glancing at the whole time. "Sorry, kid, that would be my husband. I'm Lieutenant Paramedic Diaz."
Kori, he must admit to himself, blinks at him like he had just spoken in Mandarin and not English. Because there are two Diazes in the firehouse. And both of them are his officers. And they’re married.
The—The lieutenant crosses his arms over his chest, puffing up like a peacock, and narrows his eyes. “Do we have a problem?”
“No, sir,” he says, immediately. “I didn’t know they allowed married couples to work together, that’s all.”
The lieutenant still looks at him like he's trying to assess the deepest secrets of his soul and raises one eyebrow at him like he expects a fight but his shoulders fall slightly. He's, uhm, very handsome, even this angry, in that foxy dad kind of way that Kori's never been interested in but knew it was a thing.
"My husband and I worked together for seven years before we married, I think we've proved we can stay professional," he says and it sounds a bit like a threat. "He's in the office downstairs. You should report to him before you're late to your first shift."
He smiles but Kori has a feeling it's a mean smile.
Kori does go back downstairs, passes the rest of the loft and walks past the kitchen where he sees three other firefighters, quietly eating breakfast. The conversation stops and they all collectively look up at him. He probably should say something or wave or anything so it's not awkward but no, he just speed-walks into the narrow corridor that — he hopes — leads to the offices.
He passes two doors before he finds the right one. There is a brand new plate hanging on the side of it, shiny and not dusty at all, with Capt. Diaz and Lt. Diaz written on it and the door is wide open — someone is in the closet in the back, from what it seems, going over documents or something that makes a similar rustling sound. Kori moves into the doorframe, going for a knock, when he realizes.
There's no door. Nothing, just an empty door frame with taped down hinges. There's no way for him to knock.
He clears his throat as loudly as he can.
There are two desks inside, one with a brand new plate of Capt. Diaz and one with slightly less shiny Lt Diaz on it. It looks like any other office, slightly bare on the shelves but also full of diplomas and official pictures of past officers hanging on the walls. There's also a framed drawing made by an elementary school kid, or Kori guessed it was an elementary school kid, of a firefighter in bunker gear, dead center on the wall behind the captain's desk, and a couple of photos of what he assumes is the station's crew, all in their dress uniforms — he can't see it very well.
The captain's desk is full, with another frame standing on the edge, three pencil holders filled to the brim, multiple kinds of colorful stationery, and stacks of documents and folders cluttering the countertop. There's even a freaking fidget spinner on it — he hasn't seen one since freshman year in high school. It's a mess but Kori knows that even being a probationary firefighter would mean way too much paperwork for a job that was technically blue collar. The new captain wasn't just a new captain, he was also newly-qualified to be a captain so Kori suspects he probably is barely keeping up with the forms and documents as of right now — it's a learning curve.
The lieutenant's desk also holds a couple of frames but there's only a small pencil case and a neatly arranged stack of folders lying in an even more neatly arranged corner.
And wow. That's Firefighter Buckley, even more awe-inspiring than he was eleven years ago
He looks at Kori with a half-smile stuck on his face but with a frown on his forehead. There are wrinkles around his eyes, forming like laughter lines. He tilts his head and Kori thinks—Kori thinks this is it, he remembers me, he—
"Khorshed Patwari, was it?" he asks and his grin looks the same, almost — there’s more wrinkles, around his eyes and on his forehead, and his face seems a bit softer, but it’s like a memory refresher. "Am I pronouncing it right?"
It's stupid — Firefighter Buckley saved probably hundreds if not thousands of people, he's been a firefighter for at least twelve years, probably, and Kori is just one of those faces he had seen for a minute or two. Easily forgotten. Average. It's understandable that he doesn't remember him, he would probably be more surprised if he did remember him.
"Everyone calls me Kori," he says, after clearing his throat. He knows he’s gaping like a fish, a bit, but he can’t help it — Firefighter Buckly looks almost unchanged and he can’t believe he’s here.
"With the h?"
He blinks. "Sorry?"
"Do you keep the h in Kori?" he clarified, huffing a small chuckle out. "I want to know how to spell it correctly in the future."
"Just Kori, uhm, K-O-R-I, is okay," he explains, still star-struck.
"Uhm," he says eloquently. "I'm looking for Captain Diaz? I was supposed to report to him?"
"That would be me," Firefighter Buckley says and—Oh. He’s a captain and he’s—he’s married to a man that’s the station's lieutenant. He's not really Firefighter Buckley anymore, is he? "Although most people just call me Buck, or Cap, if you really must."

Chapter One of Two (expect Chapter Two probably tomorrow or Tuesday)
Steve was reaching his wit’s end. It’d been months of this, ever since he adopted her. The barking, the pulling, the jumping. Every time he took her for a walk, she tried to run into the street to fight the cars! He just didn’t understand it and could barely handle it. She hadn’t been like this at the shelter when he picked her.
At home, she was the sweetest thing (for the most part). She gave him those soft puppy eyes and laid her head on his thigh while they watched TV on the couch. She rolled around in his path while he tried to cook, asking for belly rubs. She let out soft little snuffles and snores while she slept in his bed (and hogged most of it).
Except, when he tried to leave for work, she suddenly started barking and snapping at him. She was hyper-defensive of her food and didn’t like it when anyone but Robin visited.
Steve didn’t want to give up on Tabby. He loved her so much. But it was getting to the point where he was almost constantly worried and stressed about her being around other people and going for their twice daily walk.
He’d tried everything he could think of, too. He thought a lot of it might just be from under-stimulation, so he started coming home during lunch to add a third walk and bought her a whole box of toys to play with, but that didn’t help. He was pretty sure that coming home and lunch and then having to leave again was just making things worse, so he stopped.
This was probably the third time this week that he’d gone over all this again with Robin, but this time she didn’t give him her normal ‘that sucks’ speech.
“I mentioned what’s going on to Chrissy the other day,” she told him.
That had Steve stopping for a second. “What did she say?”
“Well, she asked me a couple questions, and then she said her best friend is a dog trainer.” Robin cracked open a bag of chips and got comfier. “Want some?” she offered.
Steve shook his head. “I’m good. So…?”
Robin crunched down on a handful of chips, past the point of shame with him. “Huh? Oh, yeah. So, I guess he specializes in ‘trouble’ dogs? Chrissy called it ‘reactive.’” Robin paused for a second to swallow. “She gave me his number. Said that he’d be able to help.”
“Hm,” Steve thought. “I dunno, Robs. We sure he’s able to help?”
“Chrissy seemed pretty sure.” She kept crunching and munching.
“God, I don’t even like barbecue chips, and you’re making me want some,” Steve complained.
Robin laughed, spitting out little chip crumbs all over the two of them; Steve made a disgusted face.
“Anyway,” she said, once she’d composed herself. “You should call him. Like, A-S-A-P. I love Miss Tabitha as much as you do, but she’s not doing well, Steve. She needs help.”
Robin reached over and put a hand under Tabby’s chin to direct the dog’s face to look at Steve. “Do it for her, Stevie.”
Steve looked between his two favorite girls and sighed. “Okay. I’ll call the dog guy.”
“Woo!” Robin cheered, and Tabby’s ears perked up.
The next day, Steve was sitting in his car on his lunch break, looking at the number punched into his phone and convincing himself to press the call button. Maybe Robin’s social anxiety was rubbing off on him. He normally didn’t have any trouble making phone calls. Eventually, with fifteen minutes left on his break, he bullied himself into pressing ‘Call.’
“Munson’s Dog Training, this is Eddie,” he heard a man’s voice answer.
“Um, hi,” Steve said, picking up a pen and starting to fiddle with it. “This is Steve- Steve Harrington. I got your number from Chrissy?”
“Oh!” He heard a rustling over the line. “Robin’s Steve? Chrissy told me she gave Robin my number and that you might call.”
“Yeah,” he said sheepishly. “I’m Robin’s Steve.” He actually didn’t mind being known as ‘Robin’s Steve’ as opposed to ‘Steve Harrington.’
“Cool,” the guy said. “Chrissy told me a little of what Robin told her, but it’s better if I hear it from you. Like,” he cleared his throat. “What’s your dog’s name? What have you been having issues with?”
“Her name’s Tabitha, or- Tabby is what we normally call her. She’s a lab mix I got from the shelter a few months ago.”
“Mhm.”
His pen fidgeting started to pick up speed. “She was super well-behaved at the shelter. Very friendly, seemed to get along fine with the other dogs, no red flags. But then I got her home, and she changed overnight. She freaks out about everything when we go on walks, and she’s aggressive a lot of the time. She’s mostly okay at home, but I can’t have visitors anymore, and she hates when I leave,” Steve explained, telling him everything he could think of.
Eddie hummed. “Yeah. Don’t worry. A lot of that sounds very common for a rescue. I can’t promise we’ll completely get rid of all of those behaviors, but I think we can definitely work on reducing the… intensity of them.”
Steve felt a weight lift off his shoulders and dropped the pen. “Really?” He couldn’t believe it.
“For sure. It’s nothing I haven’t seen before,” he explained. “I do need to warn you, though,” he continued. “I can’t do all the work for you. Some people don’t understand that about dog training. Most of the work has to be done between the two of you outside of our sessions. I just give you tips to send you in the right direction.”
Steve nodded, then remembered Eddie wouldn’t see it over the phone. “Whatever it takes, man. I love Tabby. I just want her to feel less stressed and upset all the time.”
“Awesome. I’m happy to help then. When do you want to start?”
The two of them set up a time to meet that weekend right as Steve’s lunch break was reaching its end. As he was hanging up, he caught sight of his forgotten sandwich and shoved it in his mouth, letting it dangle, as he walked back into work.
By the time Saturday rolled around, Steve was nearly ready to scream. Now that he knew something was about to change, every little bump in the road with Tabby frustrated him beyond belief. He would never take it out on her, but he had to catch himself from giving her leash a yank when she lunged or snapping at her when he tried to nip him on his way out the door. He loved Tabitha, but he was so tired.
When it was time for Eddie to show up, Steve was anxiously pacing in front of his front door. The second the doorbell rang, he was yanking the door open. In the background, he could hear Tabby barking like crazy and pawing at the door, trying to get out of his bedroom where he’d put her.
Steve’s words died on his lips when he saw Eddie for the first time. The man was… Perfect. Exactly Steve’s type. Big, dark, curly hair and big, brown eyes. His mouth just opened and closed a few times, trying to reboot his brain.
“Uh, hey,” Eddie said to him. “Steve, right?”
He finally snapped out of it. “Yeah! I’m Steve. And you’re Eddie, right?” Steve stuck his hand out to shake.
“Mhm.” Eddie shook his hand perfunctorily.
They stood there on the doorstep for a moment too long just shaking hands and looking at each other, until Eddie dropped Steve’s hand.
“Can I come in?” he asked, gesturing past Steve.
“Oh, god, yeah, for sure,” Steve stuttered out, stepping to the side to let Eddie in.
Eddie entered the house and started meandering around, looking at this and that, taking in the place. “So I hear, but can’t see, the lady of the hour. Where’s she at?” Eddie raised a brow, looking at Steve.
Steve rubbed the back of his neck, blushing a little. “I put her in my bedroom. Like I said on the phone, she doesn’t like visitors. I didn’t want her trying to bite you,” he explained.
Eddie just nodded calmly. “That’s not uncommon with rescues, man.” He offered Steve a reassuring smile. “This is her territory now, and she’s not used to feeling safe with strangers, so she wants to keep them away from her safe space. It’s a pretty easy fix, though.”
Steve sighed in relief. “Really?” He’d gotten so used to not being able to have anyone over but Robin; he was so happy to know that maybe he’d be able to start having the kids (though they weren’t really kids anymore) over again.
“Yup. I just need to become her friend,” he said. Then he pulled a plastic baggie of little bits of lunch meat and sliced cheese out of his pocket. “These are high value treats,” he explained, shaking the bag. “I forgot to ask if there was anything specific she really liked, but these work for most dogs.
“You just need to make everything worth it for her,” he continued. “So since I’m coming into her territory as a stranger, I’m going to offer her some of the good stuff to distract her from that. Then she’ll associate me being in your house with happy feelings instead of being scared.”
“That’s it?” Steve asked. He thought this would take way more effort.
Eddie nodded. “Sure. I mean, I’ll probably have to do this for the first half-dozen times I come over, until it fully clicks in her brain, but it’s not too hard.
“To be honest,” he continued, “none of this process is difficult. It’s actually all really simple. You just have to be patient and consistent. The only clients of mine that haven’t seen results are the ones that don’t keep it up in between sessions.”
Steve thought it over. As long as he knew what he needed to be doing, he could keep at it. He was a fairly disciplined person in general. He just hadn’t known where to start with this whole mess. “I understand,” he told Eddie.
“Awesome.” He cracked open the bag. “Want to let her out now? Maybe put her leash on her, and we can say hi from opposite ends of the room?” Eddie bounced the bag on his hand a time of two to get it to open fully then carefully plucked a piece of cheese out of it.
Caught up on looking at the rings on Eddie’s fingers, it took Steve a minute to get with the program. “Yeah, yep!” he said and cleared his throat. He quickly grabbed Tabby’s leash off the hook near the front door and headed to his bedroom.
As soon as he cracked the door, she tried to push her way through to get out, but Steve nudged her back with his knee, sliding into the room and shutting the door behind him. “C’mon, Tabs. We gotta get your leash on and say ‘hi’ to someone,” he told her.
Once he managed to get her leash on her even with her squirming and whining, he slowly opened his door again. She instantly started pulling and trying to yank him into the living room. “Tabby, calm down!” he said.
He was more dragged to the living room than him leading her there, but after mere moments, they were on the opposite side of the room to Eddie. Once he was in sight, Tabby was barking and pulling, trying to get at him. It took Steve holding onto the leash with both hands and planting his feet to keep her from getting what she wanted.
“Hello, Miss Tabitha,” Eddie crooned in a soft voice and tossed her the piece of cheese. She stopped barking for a moment to lick it up off the floor, but then she picked back up.
Eddie persisted, though. With every bit of cheese or meat tossed, Tabby calmed down more and more, and he was able to slowly approach. After five or six treats and as twice as many steps, Eddie was within reach of Tabby, who was now quite docile, wagging her tail and looking eagerly for treats.
He offered her his fingers to sniff and quickly got her approval. She licked the tips of his fingers, trying to get a little more taste of treat. “Hey, sweet girl,” he said softly, crouching and scratching behind her ears. “There we go. See, I’m not scary.”
Steve… was in awe. And maybe a bit in love.
While Eddie kept up the ear scritches, he looked up at Steve. “Did you pay attention to what I did there?”
“Mhm,” he hummed in a daze.
“Anytime you have anyone over, you just need to replicate that. Like I said earlier, it can take a few visits for each person before she calms down, so don’t get discouraged,” he said to Steve.
“Now, let’s talk about what your other objectives are training-wise, so I can come up with a lesson plan for Miss Tabby here to nail,” Eddie continued. He pulled another treat out of the bag and offered it to her on a flat palm.
The two of them sat in Steve’s living room for the next half-hour discussing everything Steve was hoping to accomplish with Eddie’s help. As the clock ticked on, Steve’s heart felt lighter and lighter. Eddie was agreeing that all his goals were definitely doable, even if they’d take time and hard work; he wasn’t a bad dog dad. She was just a traumatized pup who needed his help.
They set up the next session to meet at his house again, but this time they’d take Tabby for a walk and work on her desire to attack cars when they drove past.
As soon as he said goodbye to Eddie and saw him out the door, Steve rang Robin.
“Hey, what’s up?” Robin answered the phone.
“You didn’t tell me he was so hot!” Steve complained to her.
It was silent for a second before Robin busted out laughing. “I’ve never met him! How was I supposed to warn you?” she said between chuckles.
“I dunno, Robs. But you still should have,” he said pettily, huffing.
She got her laughter under control, but he could still hear the smile in her voice, “Did it go well at least?”
Steve thought over their afternoon session. “He’s just as good as Chrissy said. Tabby acted like she normally does around strangers, but he had her calming down in minutes,” he confided.
Robin made an approving sound. “That’s great!”
“Yeah, and he told me how to make her do it for everyone that comes over,” he said. “I might be able to have the kids start coming over again.” He smiled at the thought of his lonely house full of life again. Then, he looked at the calendar where the next appointment was marked, eager for time to skip ahead. Wednesday couldn’t come fast enough.
It took a little while, but the two eventually wrapped up their call, with a promise to meet up for lunch the next day. After Steve told Robin he loved her one last time, he pressed ‘End Call’ and flopped onto the couch next to Tabby.
She let out a little huff and settled in against his side.
Steve ran his hand from ears to tail over and over again. “Did you like Eddie, Tabs? I hope so. I really hope he can help you.”

‘Goodnight, Miss.’
You bowed to the hotel staff in a polite manner, looking perfectly put together. They only saw your eyes anyway, with your habit of wearing a mask at all times. Especially now that you had all your makeup removed after the full day of interviews. As your skin got pretty sensitive, you didn’t like to walk around bare-faced where people could see. Or worse, take pictures.
Had anyone asked, you would say that you contained your excitement reasonably well. Considering how giddy you actually felt, knowing that your boyfriend was coming to visit tonight. Actually, you were so impatient that you texted him from the elevator.
‘I’m almost in my room. Where are you now?’
Baekhyun was actually supposed to be there before you, so you arranged a spare key to wait for him at the reception desk downstairs. Of course, you made sure that it was discreet. You left it in a sealed envelope stuffed with blank paper to be passed onto him as soon as he arrived. He didn’t text you back in the last thirty minutes, so you assumed he was probably still on his way.
Swinging the door open, you walked inside and instantly removed your shoes. Your legs were killing you after wearing high heels all day. Checking your phone again, you confirmed that no answer came through and decided to make a quick run for the bathroom.
Incredibly short – in your personal opinion – fifteen minutes later, you were all done. But there was still no response from your highly anticipated guest.
‘Where is he, dammit?’ You muttered under your breath, walking into the room to get fresh clothes.
But as soon as you turned the lights on…
‘Oh my g-’ You covered your mouth to silence yourself.
There, on the armchair, was a neat pile of clothes. Male clothes. Meanwhile, said male was… in your bed. Sleeping like a baby.
There he was, your unreachable boyfriend. Resting up well, instead of giving you a warm welcome as soon as you walked in.
As your heart rate returned to normal, you rolled your eyes. If he wasn’t making an effort to stay awake, you were going to change into comfy panties and a crop top, as sexy lingerie obviously wasn’t on the menu for tonight, and join him. Turning off the upper light, you left the wall sconces on both sides of the bed on. Just for a minute.
You crawled under the duvet, instantly embraced by the warmth generated by Baekhyun’s body.
Two assertive arms snaked their way around your body, hugging you tightly.
‘Oh- you’re awake?’ You whispered in surprise, being pulled deeper into his den.
‘M- ‘f course,’ he murmured, eyes still closed.
‘Yeah, right,’ you snorted, squeezing his bicep in mock frustration. ‘I see you grew tired of waiting for me…’
‘Not at all. Your pillows just smelled so nice. And I know you hate when I get on the bed wearing clothes.’ He said, and you nodded in agreement. ‘So, I showered and decided to surprise you.’
‘By sleeping in my bed?’
You huffed out a laugh, brushing his messy hair out of his eyes as he cracked one of them open.
‘I wasn’t supposed to be asleep.’ He began, watching you with just that one eye, like a sleepy pirate. ‘I had an entire performance planned.’
‘That so?’ You nudged.
‘Picture this: you walk in, and I’m already on the bed buck naked, holding a rock-hard dick in my hand. ‘Enjoy the ride’ banner right behind me.’
‘Oh gosh,’ you coughed. ‘I’m thankful you changed your mind.’
‘I didn’t. There was just no scotch tape. And while I was weighing the probability of you killing me in case I used bubble gum,’ he paused to catch your hand that could very well pinch him for the suggestion. ‘…I fell asleep. Just for a second. More like drowsed.’
‘Drooling all over my pillow?’ You teased, causing him to frown.
‘I only drool when I’m dreaming of eating you out, and we didn’t get to that tonight,’ he said in a tone that suggested it was obvious and you should’ve known better. ‘Drowsed for a sec, nothing more.’
You only chuckled, fingers tracing the lines of his face. His sharp jaw, his prominent cheekbones, his soft lips.
‘I missed you a lot, aegiya.’ He said out of nowhere, both eyes closed.
‘You saw me two weeks ago,’ you mumbled, becoming shy as soon as he used the pet name.
It was so strange, even after these past few months, to see him like this. How could anyone become so boyfriend-y all of a sudden? You had no idea Baekhyun even had a side like this when you decided to get into this relationship. He’d managed to surprise you in multiple ways already; him flying across the ocean just to see you was one of the examples.
‘Exactly. Don’t tell me you weren’t suffering through every single day away from me…’
His fingers traced the skin underneath your top, threatening to start tickling you, and you squirmed, pushing him away timidly.
‘Why are you so lovey-dovey out of the blue? Are you talking in your sleep?’
‘Hey, that hurts. The real question is, why aren’t you? Aren’t you happy to see your oppa?’ He kept tugging you closer as you resisted playfully.
‘Ew. I told you, I’m not calling you that.’
‘Why’s that,’ he leaned in to kiss your neck and you failed to push his face away.
‘Don’t be gross.’
‘You’re my aegi, and I’m older, so-’
‘There’s no kissing for oppas. Or anything else fun.’ You pressed, licking your lips. ‘Only for my boyfriend. Baekhyun.’
He looked at your mouth a second too long, before muttering a low.
‘I see.’
You swallowed, trapped in this demonstrative struggle.
‘I see how it is, Y/N.’ He repeated slowly, catching you off guard with a sudden tug to finally press your body to his. ‘You think you got me all soft for you, so now you can do whatever you wish, hm?’
You bit your lip, shivering in excitement. His voice sounded gentle but low. Whenever he used this tone, you knew it was time to be a good girl.
‘Please don’t scold me, Baekhyunie,’ you pouted, caressing his shoulder sheepishly.
‘You didn’t give me an answer. Are you happy to see me?’ He pulled away slightly to give you a sharp glance.
‘Of course.’
‘That’s it?’ His furrowed eyebrows made him look dissatisfied.
‘I missed you. A lot. Too.’ You mumbled, eyes wandering around his bare chest.
‘Why are you so flustered?’ He continued his questioning, not allowing you to move away from his slow offense. ‘Thinking dirty thoughts already?’
The exposed look on your face probably told him everything.
‘Aegiya,’ Baekhyun smiled, content with your reaction. ‘You’re so easy to mess with.’
‘No, I’m no-’ Your protest was interrupted by a quick kiss.
‘Yes, you are. The moment I lower my voice you turn into a cute little puddle,’ he stated with the most satisfied look on his face before nuzzling your neck. ‘You know what else turns you into a pool of hot mess?’
You whimpered, startled by the pressure of his fingers directly on your clit.
‘God, I missed you,’ he gritted, licking a stripe over your ribs and inhaling your scent.
‘Baek-’ You swallowed, latching onto his shoulder. ‘We can’t be loud here. The girls are on this floor, and what if someone-’
‘This is a five-star hotel, princess.’ He made sure to continue his descent despite your feeble protests.
‘It’s not completely sound-proof!’
‘Don’t worry. I’ll make it quick.’ He smirked, hooking the fabric of your panties with his thumb to get them out of the way.
Making it quick was worse. It meant he was going to go zero to one hundred in a snap of his dainty fingers, and you were in no way ready to handle it.
During the course of your rather new relationship, he’d managed to perfect his oral technique to such an extent that you had to literally refuse him the pleasures of the mouth whenever you were outside the privacy of your homes. It was just too risky. If someone was to hear you…
He tended to make your sessions extremely noisy.
‘Just relax. I know what I’m doing,’ he hummed before poking his tongue out and dragging it slowly over your slit.
‘Oh-’ You grabbed onto the duvet, and he did it again.
Not forgetting to slurp this time.
Biting hard on your lip, you tried to keep still. But even that didn’t help when his wet tongue flicked your engorged clit. You could see him already getting into it. His heavy-lidded eyes watched you through the blond strands, and his mouth opened wide as if he attempted to swallow your entire pussy.
You panted, trying to move away, but he held you securely in place by the hips.
Baekhyun’s breath became heavier and heavier, and the sound of it only made you go mad with the thrill. His tongue flattened out and he moved his head up and down to drag it over your core.
Just as you thought that this was bearable, he did the unexpected. He sucked your clit into his mouth harshly, coating the area with so much saliva you could feel it trickle down to your entrance.
‘A-ah!’ You flexed your abs and pressed at the back of his head, chasing the contact.
Instead of slowing down as he usually did, he continued increasing the intensity. His tongue ran up and down your core with urgency before his lips closed around your most sensitive spot again, sucking harshly and then breaking out into short licks.
‘Baek, stop- I can’t-’ You sobbed mid-sentence as he shook his head lightly, adding stimulation.
At this point, his own breathing was loud and labored, as if he was the one on the receiving end of this hustle.
But, as soon as your breaths became shallow and your muscles started to clench, he ripped himself away and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
‘I just love bringing you to the edge,’ he admitted, licking his lips hungrily. ‘cause then I don’t have to spare your pussy.’
He slapped your vulva abruptly, and you yelped from the jarring sensation, sitting up.
‘Ride me, baby,’ Baekhyun said, dropping on his back as you got on top of him readily.
You wanted to get this over with. You needed him to finish what he’d started.
‘Shit.’ He cursed as soon as you brought your thighs down. ‘Go on.’
Swaying your hips, you focused on the friction against your walls. He always felt so good inside you.
‘Let me help you a little,’ he suggested, taking hold of your pelvis to aid you in your movements.
Leaning onto his chest with your palms, you went as hard as you could. And his thighs met yours, sounding a skin-to-skin slap upon every fleeting contact.
‘M-Baek,’ you whined, messing up the pace.
‘Don’t slow down,’ he demanded, fingers digging into your skin.
‘I can’t-’
He put his palm onto your back and prodded you to lean forward, gaining enough momentum to start pounding into you from below.
‘Fuck.’ He gritted, ignoring your uncontrollable moans and the lecherous noises from where your skin met his.
Baekhyun’s eyes never left your body, and he kept his tempo for as long as he could.
‘Fuck- Fuck!’ He suddenly growled, and you shrieked as you became undone.
‘B-Baekhyun,’ you cried out, held solid by his hands while his dick kept nailing you.
Thankfully, your boyfriend was quick to follow you and find his release. You whimpered as he shook briefly, letting out only a strained grunt to signify that he was finished for now.
He rolled you over to rest on top of your body, his entire weight pushing you down, and kissed you deeply. Both your and his breathing was hectic, but it didn’t hinder the interaction. Your fingers traced his prickly nape, while his tongue played with yours.
You laid like that for a bit before he scrambled off of you, finally letting you breathe properly.
‘I really did miss you.’
He smiled as you said that, and leaned in to press a playful kiss to your nose.
‘I know.’
You poked his cheek in embarrassment. He was a really affectionate boyfriend, and you loved that about him. It did make you a bit bashful though. Strangely, more so than your crazy sex marathons.
‘Thanks for flying all the way here just for me.’
‘It wasn’t just for you. I got a couple gigs here for the next few days,’ he shrugged, and then added. ‘I might’ve gotten those after I bought flight tickets, but sh-h! I can’t let it go to your head.’
‘Why not?’ You pouted, stroking his collarbone.
‘Aegiya, you already behave like a little princess, we don’t want it to get any worse, do we?’
‘Am I not your little princess?’ You narrowed your eyes at him.
‘You are,’ he sighed in defeat. ‘I guess, you win.’
‘What did I win?’ You chuckled, pecking him on the chin.
‘I don’t know. What would you like?’
The answer came with no hesitation.
‘You.’
‘That’s cute,’ he snickered. ‘You already have me.’
‘Hm. Then I don’t need anything else.’
‘Ugh. You don’t even have to call me oppa. I’m already melting like an ice-cream cone in a warm hand.’
You snorted at his words, and he gave you a long look.
‘I wonder what you pictured just now.’
‘Baekhyun!’
‘Alright, you don’t have to tell me.’ He agreed quickly, beaming at you shamelessly.
You shook your head.
‘It probably has something to do with my dick anyways.’
At this you kicked him lightly with your knee.
‘Ouch. Love hurts.’
~~~
You and Baekhyun stayed up super late (as per usual), talking about your time apart, teasing each other and bickering about pet names. So, when it was time for you to wake up and start getting ready… You decided to have some more beauty sleep.
However, after you ignored a bunch of ‘check-in’ morning messages from your members, the usual procedure was carried out – they sent one of their own to wake you up.
‘Eonni, are you up? We have to move out in an hour.’ Your maknae’s voice reached you through the layers of bedcovers and Baekhyun, who was practically wrapped around you.
Baekhyun.
Opening your eyes, you rose on the bed and rubbed your face to get ahold of reality.
‘Eo- eonni?’
The youngest of the group stood frozen in front of your bed, eyes open wide. Even with your brain barely shaken out of sleep, you realized what stunned her.
The blond man in your bed, who had his arm wrapped around you still, stirred from the noise and laid on his back, stretching out before opening his eyes. Your gaze fell on his exposed chest, and you quickly pulled the duvet up to cover the eloquent scratch you must’ve left on his pec yesterday.
‘What’s going on?’ He asked groggily, and the third person in the room finally broke out of her lethargic state.
‘S-sorry!’ She turned around and sprinted out of your room as if a demon was chasing her.
You called after her, but the click of the door locking announced that she was already gone.
‘Ah, dammit.’ You sighed, rubbing your pulsing temple.
Baekhyun’s hand squeezed your thigh to draw your attention.
‘Sorry. I overslept and one of the girls came to wake me up. Go back to sleep, I’ll deal with it.’ You caressed his cheek gently before turning away to get out of the bed.
‘What are you going to do?’
That was the question you had been asking yourself.
‘I’m not sure,’ you admitted. ‘That was our maknae, so… she’s probably told the entire group already. She is… easily excitable.’
‘Maybe you don’t have to do anything.’ He said, looking up at you.
‘Hm?’
‘Just tell them the truth. You’re not a rookie, no one’s going to kick you out of the group or whatever.’
You sighed. He was right, of course, but… You were scared. Admitting that to your group and management would make all of this official, and there’d be no turning back after that.
‘…or, you can just forget I said that. You don’t have to tell them if you don’t want to.’
He sounded neutral, yet somehow you knew he only made it seem like he wouldn’t be hurt in this scenario. Baekhyun truly was perfect in those few months you were together, so there was no reason for you to doubt his intentions. And you also liked him, a lot.
Maybe this morning was more of a blessing than a curse?
‘I’ll tell them. I’m tired of sneaking around anyways.’
‘Really? I found that quite exciting. Being your secret lover. Sneaking into your room through the window and all that.’
‘That never happened,’ you laughed.
‘It could’ve!’
‘Shut up,’ you pecked his smiling lips and picked up your phone.
Dozens of new messages in your group chat.
‘Y/N, if you’re not telling us who that ‘blond oppa’ in your bed was, we’re coming over to your room! We’re dying over here!!’
You read the last message out loud to Baekhyun.
‘That’s why I refuse to call you that. As soon as I introduce you to them, it’s going to be ‘Baekhyun oppa’ all the time. I like to be special.’
‘Gotcha,’ he snickered. ‘But princess, text them back before the whole intervention committee walks through that door. I’m not exactly wearing underwear.’
‘Oh crap, I better.’
