He shakes his head. "Amazing. Oh?"

His little startled jump did not frighten the butterfly that landed on his forehead. It flexes its wings and Roxanne laughs at Megamind's expression.

"Sorry! No, I'm sorry, you just look so shocked. It—huh."

Another butterfly has landed on him, a little way up from the first. And, like the first one, it doesn't seem particularly bothered about Megamind moving.

He rumples his forehead, wrinkles his nose. "They tickle," he complains. "I can feel their little feet. Here." He lifts a hand and nudges very gently at a couple of little black legs as another butterfly lands on his temple.

To Roxanne’s absolute amazement, the morpho—which she remembers as being a fairly jumpy species—crawls onto the backs of Megamind's fingers and clings there as he brings it down to look at it. Another takes its place almost immediately.

Hey! You! I need you to look at this for a million years with me, okay?

The incomparable @kibagib has brought a scene from Chapter 5 of my soapghost fic Couch Surfing to life, and I'm OVER THE MOON!!! I love the way Kiba captured how soap and ghost are folded into each other, faces turned inward and hands grasping. It's so beautiful, I'm crying.

(Also, yes, Soap is missing his mohawk - it's part of the story.)

Then Soap ... walked up to Ghost, curled a hand around his bicep, and gave it a little shake.

"Yer a sight for sore eyes, Lt."

Something broke free inside of Ghost. Before he could fully process the action, he was reaching out and jerking Soap into a crushing hug. Soap gasped but then laughed and wrapped his arms around Ghost's torso, hands digging into the back of his coat as he held onto Ghost just as tightly. Hot breaths puffed through the material of his mask and warmed his skin as Soap pressed his face into Ghost's neck, and he had never wanted to rip off his mask as much as in that moment. All the tension, all the nervousness flooded away, leaving only knee-weakening relief.

"Yeah," Ghost rasped.

"And ye stayed alive for me," Soap whispered into his neck.

"Yeah."

Soap's next laugh sounded a little broken. Ghost squeezed tighter, his thoughts whirling too fast to capture. It took Gaz clearing his throat to bring him back to reality... and the fact that they were standing outside, embracing in plain view of half the base.

"Sorry to interrupt, but Price wanted us back ASAP."

Heat flamed up Ghost's neck, and he abruptly pushed Soap back, though he kept his hands on his upper arms. Tears had pooled in Soap's eyes, making them sparkle, but his smile was wide and bright as he grasped Ghost's forearms and gave them a gentle squeeze.

"Aye, the captain promised me scotch."
