Can you remember your first day of school? I have some vague memories of my first day of kindergarten. I remember this girl was crying a lot. Who's your best friend? My mom. Do you watch the Disney channel? Not anymore. I watch the shows I liked growing up on Disney+, though. What's your favourite movie? I have several. Would you rather jump out of an airplane or go scuba diving? Nooo.
Do you get bored looking at other peoples' holiday pictures? No. I may feel a little envious and bitter, though, ha. I want to travel. :( Do you give money to charity? Sometimes.  What can you hear right now? A YouTube video. What does your last received text say? I don’t feel like checking. Is there anything annoying you right now? Time is going by really slow today. What did you last have to eat? Over-easy eggs and a blueberry muffin. Are you more into music or movies? It seems like movies nowadays because I really haven’t listened to music very much this year, which is super weird. Do you like making surveys? I don’t make surveys. When was the last time you went to a swimming pool? Almost a decade ago. Can you ride a bike? What age were you were you learned? No. Would you rather have a pet snake or a pet turtle? A turtle out of the two because I don’t want a snake anywhere near me, but I really don’t want either one. Do you have, or would you like to get, any tattoos? I’ve wanted to get one, but I don’t see it ever happening. Have you ever seen a band live? Who was the last you saw? Yeah, a few. The last one I saw was Green Day. What's the weirdest thing you've ever found in someone's bedroom? I had a friend who had no issue leaving her special toys out in the open in her room even when having company over, ha. Who do you live with? My parents, brother, and doggo. What colour are your socks? Red and black. When was the last time you went outside? This past Saturday. Are you too hot or too cold right now? I’m just right at the moment. Do you have any musical instruments in your bedroom? No. Do you like Batman or Robin more? Batman. Did you ever love Pokemon? Do you still? I did have a brief Pokemon phase as a kid. Do people who use massive amounts of emoticons annoy you? It doesn’t annoy me, but it can be a bit much. I’m just someone who doesn’t use them a lot. Have you ever talked to your parents over an IM programme? Yeah. Do you like painting? I don’t paint. What was the last clothing item you bought? A shirt. Do you have any fairy lights in your bedroom? No. What does your washing powder smell like? Washing powder? Do you have a dishwasher or do you do dishes by hand? We have a dishwasher. Are there any cobwebs in your room? No. Do you keep a diary? This is it. What made you laugh last? Something in a video I was watching earlier. Have you ever used a pick-up line and had it work? I don’t do pickup lines. Do you read Texts From Last Night? How about FML? I used to love reading those back in the day. Are you wearing any jewellery right now? Nope. Do American / British spelling differences annoy you? haha. No. Do you like the smell of lavender? Not really. Have you ever entered a modelling competition? Would you? Ha, no. Did you keep any drawings / stories from when you were younger? Yes. When was the last time you cooked for yourself? I made ramen yesterday. When was the last time you wrapped a present? Last Christmas. Do you have a safe? No. What's the scariest thing to happen to you so far? I’m a victim of gun violence. What was your last dream about? (or your daydream if you don't remember) *shrug* Do you own a baby names book? No. I have no need for that. Do you read TV magazines? No. When was the last time you saw a relative? Apart from my parents and brother who I live with, I saw my aunt a couple days ago. What time is it right now? 2:32PM. Do you shout out the answers at quiz shows? Yeah, haha. Especially Family Feud. Have you ever been in a TV audience? No. Have you ever entered the lottery? Won anything? I’ve won a little money on scratchers. When was the last time you were so angry you thought you would burst? It’s been a little while since I’ve felt that angry. I get irritable and frustrated very easily, but it takes a lot to make me angry. Do you skip breakfast? Not often. I’ve gotten in a really good habit this year of eating breakfast everyday. Are you in anyway close to reaching a personal goal? I don’t really have any goals at the moment. Do you prefer crosswords or word searches? Word searches, definitely.  Have you ever drawn on a wall in your house? No. Felt-tip pens or highlighters? Felt-tip pens. These two things aren’t really comparable, like highlighters have their use as well, it just depends what I’m doing. Do you like making collages? I did when I was like 12-13. I made them all the time.
Have you ever kept a scrapbook? Yes. What's your favourite video-game? Mario Bros and Life is Strange. Do you remember any inside jokes from childhood? Yes. Have you ever made up a word? Probably. Do you get nervous speaking to people you don't know on the phone? Yesss. I hate talking on the phone, even if I do know the person. Are you scared of anything irrational? Yes. Can you calm yourself down or do you just get all panicked at things? I do definitely panic and get anxious about things and have to try and talk myself down as best I can. Do you need to wash your hair? No. What are your plans for tomorrow? I have a doctor appointment, meh. Have you ever forgotten how to spell a really simple word? Yes. Or like thought a simple word looked weird and like it was spelled wrong, but it wasn’t. Do you have a passport? What's the picture like? No. Have you ever had a full fringe? (bangs) Yes, for most of my life I had bangs. I kind of want them again. What time did you get up this morning? Around 10. What's the weirdest craze you can remember? Hmm. Have you ever been so hot you took a freezing cold shower? Honestly, even during the summer I still take hot showers it’s weird. Do you own a plaid shirt? Not anymore. Do you take your own surveys? I don’t make surveys. Do you have a fan in your room? I have 4. Do you use bug spray or fly swatters? If it’s a flying bug then I prefer a swatter and anything else like a shoe or something. I hate bug spray. Do you know where your parents are right now? My mom is helping a family friend pack up their apartment and my dad is at work. What was the last thing you said outloud? ”Bye.” Are you a clumsy person? I have my moments. Can you brush your teeth without getting toothpaste all over your face? It can get a little messy. Do you have tiled floors in your house? Yes. Do you listen to any movie soundtracks regularly? No. Do you bruise easily? No. What would you love to learn to do? I’d love to be skilled at or have a talent in something. I’m lame. Do you prefer monkeys or lemurs? Monkeys. Do you think you'd be able to survive on a desert island? Nopeee. Have you ever watched a foreign film without the subtitles? For my Spanish classes. Do you watch movies based on the actors or the movie plot? The plot generally, but admittedly some movies the actor(s) may be what draws me in initially. Do you have any phone charms on your mobile? No. Would you ever meet anyone you met online? I’d be really nervous. Are you more shy in real life or on the internet? In real life, definitely. Are you happy with where you're going in life? Not at all.

Multiples of 4! For both ask thingys
Get to know your Author
4) favorite character you’ve written - Hands down, Lyle. Don’t tell Clint I said that. lol. Lyle is just such a little shit disturber, and I love writing that.
8) favorite genre to write- I don’t think I have one..
12) your weaknesses as an author - My own need for perfection. While that has proven to be my strength, in terms of quality for what I post, my need for consistency and flow can sometimes stop me from posting things that I write. Like the SPN RPF / Fallout crossover I had been working on forever ago. Or the SPN ABO / Robin Hobb crossover I got 4 parts into before I was like “no this is shit.” . This need for perfection is also why I don’t edit for / work with a lot of people. BUT I’m learning to accept that not everyone writes like me and I’m opening up more. Because honestly, If I really did nitpick at other people’s work the way I do mine, I’d be labeled more of a stone cold bitch than I already am lol.
16) are there any characters who haunt you?- Uhm. No, actually, I don’t think so.
20) do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts? - I write in whatever time I have to write in. If I have no editing to do, and a lot of child free time to write in, I’ll write until my ideas run out. Assuming I have multiple ideas, or the flow keeps up for a series, I can write for hours without stopping. With the baby, I sometimes only get 10-15 minutes at a time, if I’m lucky. When pregnant, I had to wear a wrist brace because between pregnancy, and typing, I had some serious carpel tunnel. I was writing almost the entire day that Luke was at school.
24) have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story?AN EXPERT, no, probably not. But I have learned a significant deal about various kinks, and American things.
Ask away asks.
(4) Last Song You Listened To. - Not counting The Wiggles, which are currently on tv and my kid loves-  There was Aiden English singing :
Tumblr media
RUSEV DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
We were catching up on Wrestle mania last night, and while we did watch matches after this, they don’t matter. Because it’s Rusev day every day in this house.
(8) Did You Wake Up Cranky? Matrim woke me up before 1am, and then again at 6:15. What do you think? lol. I’m not really a morning person, so yeah, I tend to be a bit cranky when I get woken up. If I wake up on my own that early, I’m fine.
(12) Take A Vitamin Daily?I’m actually SUPPOSE to be taking a calcuim, magnesium and Vit D pill, because I’m lactose intolerant and get really bad cramps in my leg that feel like someone is ripping my calf apart (that’s a magnesium deficiency friends) buuut I don’t always remember. Woops.
(16) Favourite Anime? Azumanga Daioh
(20) Do You Dance In The Car? I dance anywhere and everywhere, my friend. I’ve embarrassed people doing that in the past hahaha. Seriously, have a good song on, and sometimes I just can’t help myself but groove a little.
(24) Are You Wearing Makeup Right Now? It’s 9am on a weekday. fuck no. I ain’t got time for that.
(28) What Makes You Happy? You know what, that’s a good question. Quiet makes me happy. Having ten minutes to myself where someone isn’t climbing on me, or screaming at me. Going to the bathroom ALONE, fuck that’s heaven right there. It’s the simple things, I’m a simple girl.
(32) If You Were A Crayon What Colour Would You Be? BLACK LIKE MY SOUL! lol. jk, my soul isn’t black. It’s probably like, a robins egg blue, or aquamarine. YEAH, I WANNA BE AQUAMARINE!
(36) What Colour Shirt Are You Wearing? Grey.
(40) Do You Have Any Obsessions Right Now? Uhm.. I don’t really have time for obsessions lol. The closest things I’ve got, are Writing, and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2.
(44)Do You Like Going On Airplanes?I don’t mind them, aside from my ears popping, and that falling feeling you get, and mild claustrophobia. Planes themselves, don’t bother or scare me. AIRPORTS, Airports scare me. But I haven’t been on a plane since I was 11, so that could have changed.
(48) Are You A Picky Eater? Yes. No mushrooms, no cabbage, the SMELL of chili can make me puke everywhere. I’m so picky about my meat, that I have never ordered a steak at a restaurant because I’m terrified of sending my food back and being like “no..” Pat is the only person who makes me steak.
(52) Do You Like Your Music Loud? Yes. That’s why I mostly just listen to music on the treadmill now, because it’s when I can blast music into my ears with headphones and not have to worry about not hearing the kids.
(56)What Are You Craving Right Now? Buttered popcorn. Pat bought this “sweet and salty” stuff, and it was good the first few times, but I want some legit buttered popcorn something fierce.
(60) Do You Have Any Homework Right Now? If So, What Is It About? From school, no. I don’t go to school. But I do have some editing that I’m SUPPOSE to be doing, but I’m too busy doing this. DAWN! Tsk tsk. People need their Benny, stop distracting me :P
(64) Favourite Social Media? Tumblr is what I use the most. For messaging, it’s FB or Google Hangouts. Then Insta for pics. I rarely use twitter, snapchat or skype these days. If you want any of those, just ask. Maybe I’d use them more if people were on them lol.
(68) What Shampoo And Conditioner Are You Using Right Now? Head and shoulders scalp care for shampoo, and Dove something (for frizz or curls) for conditioner.
(72) Do You Miss Your Ex? An Ex is an Ex for a reason, my friend.
(76) What Was The Last Thing You Ate? Breakfast. Egg over easy, toast, sausages and a cup of tea.
(80) Stalked Someone On A Social Network? Stalked, no. I barely even check my friends social media half the time.
(84) What Are Three Things You Did Today?  Laundry. Called the school to say Luke was sick and staying home. Made everyone breakfast.
(88) List All Of Your Video Games On Your Phone, Console Etc. I aint’ got time for that. Look man, we’ve got PC games, a game boy color, a nintendo DS a sega genesis, a N64, a game cube, a ps2, an xbox 360, TWO nintendo Wii’s, a WiiU and a ps4. I’m not rattling off every game we have, because I honestly DON’T EVEN KNOW ALL OF THE GAMES WE HAVE. Pat works for a company that sells games, he’s always bringing shit home.
(92) Do You Wear Jeans Or Sweats More? Neither. Leggings / yoga pants for the win, bitches.
(96) Favourite YouTuber? When I actually watch youtube, which I don’t often anymore, it’s Jacksepticeye, or Markiplier.
OMG DAWN THIS TOOK FOREVER HOW DARE YOU! lol jk, ily and thank you.

Grimms Notes 1 | Spec Ops Asuka 1 - 2 | Boogiepop 3 | Price of Smiles 2 - 3 | Kaguya-sama 1 | Mob Psycho II 2 | Morose Mononokean II 2 - 3 | Shield Hero 2 | My Roommate is a Cat 2 | Girly Air Force 1
Grimms Notes 1
Somehow, from the opening shot having an easy-to-draw-and-animate non-very-threatening monster, I can tell this is a game adaption.

Likwise, when I have complaints about the birds in the OP being CG, you know this is an anime.
I think this “handing down the role of Red Riding Hood” thing is interesting. However, the humour Tao was going for at the time
was so not me.
I think all Tao said was that it was dangerous (in the audio). I think the subber was trying to insert a Zelda meme
what an evil agenda
(partially joking)
“
scary black thing
” – Do you mean the monster? If you mean the wolf monster and not the other clawed creature from the beginning of the episode, then that’s not black. That’s purple.
I think Brain’s Base is trying to make Red look creepy with her dead ahead stare, but
as much as I don’t like a fisheye lens, we could really use some right now.
Okayyyyyyyyyy
I knew anime could make anything a weapon, but a bookmark? That’s stretching credulity a bit. How is that badass??? C’mon, even healing was – kinda – badass in Merc Storia because it had a purpose. A bookmark is just used for keeping your place in a book. Unless it’s one of those metal ones that falls out of books all the time, they don’t hurt flies.
Seriously, doesn’t Goliath get defeated by David??? In better news, I thought Tao was vaguely hot, but Robin Hood
ooh

I have no idea why Alice’s weapon is a sword, btw.
Waitttttt
wuh? “I’ll show you how to be a real lady”???? *eyes of skepticism* At least the other ones make sense and aren’t as gendered – but notably Cinderella is a healer when they could’ve done something cooler, like the Little Mermaid or something (to tie into siren mythology).
Obviously Evil Villain is Obvious. Nothing new to see here.
Well
that was mildly unsatisfying

Spec Ops Asuka 1
For some reason, I call Magical Girl Special Operations Asuka “Spec Ops Asuka”. Well, at least it makes sense
*shrugs*
Karambit. Surprisingly, it’s a weapon I’ve never heard of before

Exposition dumps have never been this clunky before! Oof!
Whiskey Charlie? Like
WC? Toilet??? (I’m not sure everyone will get that joke, but okay.)
I’d probably translate the episode title to “Comeback of the Magical Girl”. It starts with a relative clause, so it should be that way in English too.
The ol’ transfer student clichĂ©. *sigh* Anime, anime, anime
why you do dis to me? Not that I mind it, I wouldn’t be so deep if I weren’t

What’s the name of Nozo-chan’s friend again???
“Franz on the Waves” seems to be a play on “Kafka on the Shore”.
Le sigh
I get the feeling this was written by a dude to satisfy male fantasies by pretending to use girl power as a symbol.
Seriously though, if you thought Sailor Moon was bad at keeping identities
Asuka has it worse. I mean, Rapture Asuka = Asuka Ootori. It’s really obvious in English

A thug man with a metal hand drinking tea from a tiny cup
now there’s a real source of humour!
(Trigger warning: prostitution discussion) - “
whoring yourself out.” – Err
that’s definitely not what I expected to see in an anime like this. I haven’t shied away from Shield Hero, but this I did a really big double take on for all the wrong reasons. Even with Sayoko to hold Nozo-chan back, I still think Nozo’s being really, really insensitive here.
Okay
the rules of long hair state you must pull your hair out from towels. They missed a good opportunity to do that shoujo sparkle thing with that, y’know, even if to create mood whiplash.
There is something to be said about bystander effect here, I think, and how people award proactivity rather than being passive...especially with magical girls and those other kinds of people who act as “heroes” during times of crisis.
Oh, of course, terrorism. Because we want our magical girls political now
*le sigh*
“Live your life for the sake of those who died.” – This reminds me of the situation with cian-aemilian all over again. I’m pretty sure I’ve said something of a similar nature in the past due to it. Update: my exact quote was “
what can the living do but keep those who have gone in their memory?”

and of course, people who watch magical girls from afar use drones, because that’s going to outdate this show in a good 10 – 20 years. *le sigh*
Well, colour me impressed. I was about to jump ship due to the shoddy quality, but I think that quote at the end felt like a dig at me personally in the best (yet worst) way possible.  I did laugh a tonne at how stupid the gore looked, though, which might be a problem

Boogiepop 3
Is it just me, or has Echoes cleaned up now enough to be kinda
hot?
Waittttt
which of them is “Niitoki-kun”? Sorry, I just don’t think I’m 100% comprehending all the names being flung about here. Update: Niitoki is the class prez gal.
Somehow I knew he was going to stab Echoes with the pen, but I was still slightly surprised to see it happen.
Hmm
that episode was a lot more impressive than the last two. Things actually made sense, now that we know the background of them,
Price of Smiles 2
I see 2D mechs. They may be stationary, but I’m still impressed
they’re basically a dying breed these days.
Why do these mechs have shields, anyway?
I like how the twins poked fun at Joshua’s “passion and will” thing.
Oh no
judging from their reaction
did Joshua die???
End of episode segment
keep watching.
Kaguya-sama 1
This is my final premiere
so I’d better make this count. I read somewhere the narrator was overpowering and read the first volume of manga, but otherwise that’s all I know about this.
I think that shot that replays in the OP is part of one chapter of the manga.
Tori
Tottori
geddit? Oh, never mind.
20th Century Fox, much?
The weed was a good touch. I don’t remember that being in the manga. (No, I’m not talking about that weed
which you can smoke
)
“Who’s Hayasaka?” you ask. Good question. Even I didn’t know, so I had to ask Google. Hayasaka
is Kaguya’s valet! If you know that, then you can laugh about it!
If you want a sausage octopus, just go ask your team of chefs for one, Kaguya!
Mob Psycho II 2
I’m pretty sure Ura Sunday is where Mob Psycho is serialised

Is this the real Junji Ito adaption (LOL)?
Mononokean II 2
Why is Ashiya good at finding metal objects anyway? (If there is an explanation
) It’s only metal items and not anything else, right?
So the Justice is this frumpy purple-haired dude? I think I outgrew this kind of dude once I got over Urushihara

There are CGI tadpoles, but they’re kinda hard to see against the 2D background

Come to think of it, Abeno may be the master of the Mononokean, but it seems he reports directly to the Legislator. Is there a guy/youkai like that for the Justice (and presumably the other dude) as well?
Moja falling into the water was too adorable!
Oh great (LOL), the Legislator is basically baiting Abeno with “that’s not water!” from Grand Blue

I just realised Abeno’s so big in comparison to Ashiya
n-not that I mind of course
(lel)
Aoi? Who dat? Update: Oh yeah
that guy (?) was the first master of the Mononokean. Sorry, I may have watched the 1st series twice, but that was at the start of 2017.
Shield Hero 2
“
is diseased and has a mental disorder.” – Well, I thought it honestly couldn’t get any worse, between slavery and rape accusations. It just did. Again, I don’t condone this stuff, but a story’s a story, no matter how depraved.
Seeing a story about the pits of despair naturally means you can see people get better – I think that’s why we need to have both stories that are light and fluffy + dark and dreary.
I see Naofumi keeps a Balloon (<- how I’ll refer to balloon monsters from now on) at his side all the time now, LOL. By the way, when he bought that ball, I honestly thought he was going to offer Raphtalia a Balloon instead of getting her a proper ball

Update: Not sure if Naofumi’s inability to taste stuff is because of the betrayal or because of the fact he changed worlds
or maybe even something else?
My Roommate is a Cat 2
I see Bliss wallpaper...either someone has good taste in default wallpapers or a very outdated computer!
Is it alright to feed cats bread
? I’ve never fed a cat.
They say pets are like their owners, huh? Subaru is very much like the cat.
Wait, why are all the pets that are out and about do-Update: Forget I asked. There are some cats outside as well

I’ve never seen a Japanese word processor with genkouyooshi to type into vertically, come to think of it.
Talking to cats is fine and dandy, I think, assuming they understand you as well. Anyways, I think Subaru got the name “Haru” from “sunny” (hare).
Ah! Kitty too cute!...I wish that could be a review, but sadly
it can’t be.
Post-credits segment
keep going.
Oh, that post-credits segment was so good, even if it did need some explaining to an audience that only knows English!
Update: I read the character bios from the official site, and turns out Haru is a girl.
Girly Air Force 1
I’ve seen mixed opinions about this (as in, read too many impressions on it and they don’t neatly go one way or another), so I’m taking the plunge while I still have time to.
You can tell your protagonist is great when the first word he says is “S***!”
EGG? “Defective girl”? I know I’m watching something with a lot of context here
but seriously, this was definitely made for dudes. Jusssssssssssst saying.
See? What did I say? After your first kiss, it’s only a matter of time before-erhem. I’ll stop ranting now.
So
what languages does Minghua know, exactly?
Wait, so what was Kei doing in China? Better question! (sings in a teasing voice “Eloping, eloping, Kei was eloping!”)
As much as I think free tuition is a good thing
I’m with Minghua. Don’t go risking your life when you just escaped for your life not too long ago.
*sigh* Kei, Kei, Kei
what do you think you’re doing?

and I LOL. I LOL so hard at how they tossed Kei into the boot but laid down Minghua like a baby.
But seriously, why the name “Daughter”???
Egao no Daika 3
I found and heard Huey! I can leave this show if I wanted to now

The fact people are red or blue, and sometimes you can’t tell which is which, is powerful colour symbolism.
Spec Ops Asuka 2
Well
that (perception magic) explains one of my questions from last time.
I kep thinking that Sayako is the sort of girl who would become a magical girl
in the traditional sense.
Pigeon fight! The fight I never knew I needed
kind of.
I’ve watched enough anime to know the new transfer student is Kurumi
geez.
Mononokean II 3
For some reason, I didn’t realise this until most of the episode had gone
but Egen is a tengu, right?
Make sure you watch closely for the “like him [Ashiya]” bit
it’s funny when you find out.
I find it the most surprising that Abeno is calling himself an idiot
hmm.

Lace, Silk, and Ribbons || Go!Anita!Go
@got-to-tomago
Anita had never really had nice, sexy underwear before. She had always been the type of girl who opted for soft cotton pajamas or nightgowns, which went all the way down to Anita’s toes. She was not a very warm person, see, and needed a lot of blankets and things to keep warm at night. She could never sleep in the nude, god no—not only for her own temperament but because she’d simply get too chilly. So for a very long time, she’d been perfectly content with her long-sleeved robin egg blue gown and imagined herself from an older time while wearing it. She could be Elizabeth Bennett, reading by candlelight—or Emma Woodhouse, penning a letter before she turned in to dream her wild and fanciful dreams, of crowded parties and gossip exchanged over tea time.
But now
there was, well—Roger.
See, when there was Hugh, Anita had been too young to even consider buying sexy underwear for herself. Sex was off the table—sex was locked up in a box somewhere in a corner of her mind she was not permitted to go. In fact, Hugh had bought her some ridiculous looking brassiere one time as his idea of a romantic anniversary present and she’d gotten so offended she’d slapped him with it and the tiny clip nicked him enough to make him bleed a little. Oh, and she still returned it, Hugh’s blood or no blood. (Because—of all the nerve. She knew he’d only done it to try to sleep with her.)
And when there was Lou, well, they’d only slept-slept together when they were married in the 1800s, and then she literally had been something out of an Austen novel and her nightgown had been long and modest. There were a few more times after that, all rather spontaneous dalliances
she had no time to think about what kind of underwear she was wearing. Though in retrospect, perhaps Lou, being an artist, having Duchess as an aunt, might have appreciated something like that.
But now she had a proper boyfriend with whom she wanted to have sex—lots and lots of sex, to be perfectly frank. She wasn’t afraid anymore. She wasn’t ashamed. If anything, after, er, the first time, she was worried that perhaps Roger still saw her a little bit as that 16-year-old he’d met in the Spot, all cherry-lipped from a girly lip gloss that was too young for her now—all rosy-cheeked from the brisk air—all starry-eyed because of her youth. Anita didn’t want to be 16 for Roger. She didn’t want to fumble and giggle through every time they slept together, even if it was a bit weird in some ways since she was Anita and he was Roger. Some giggling was fine, but—
But Anita had waited nearly 24 years to feel caught up in heat and passion, like the characters she read in books. She wanted to be sexy. She wanted Roger to find her sexy. What if he didn’t find her sexy enough, maybe that was why
?
She needed to be sexy.
And so Anita was looking for sexy lingerie, all huddled in a corner of the shoppe, her hands moving quickly over the racks in search for something perfect. Though now that she was here, she was beet-red and feeling lost as ever. She should have asked Perdita to come along, should have just swallowed her pride and bashfulness both. Because god, some of these just looked ridiculous. She pulled out a lacy red thong with straps that had a clip on the end—was that supposed to hold something up? God, there was no back to it. She put it back quickly, chewing on her lip. Next she pulled out some kind of pink lace number. She didn’t know quite what it was before she held it out and saw that it had some kind of a high neck line before plunging down. It was entirely see through and had a thin pink ribbon to tie around her rib cage. Oh and there were no panties to speak of. Was this a number to wear panties with? Was she supposed to keep them off?
Pink wasn’t even a good colour for her.
She put it back quickly, sighing, moving on. Maybe she should just—grab something, try it on, feel like a fool, and then call it a day. Yes, now that was a plan. She grabbed at a black babydoll dress and whirled around, moving as fast as she could toward the dressing rooms. So fast, she smashed right into someone.
“Oh--!” she squeaked and then her eyes widened. “Oh my god—I—I didn’t see you there, I’m sorry,” she said and then hid the piece of lingerie behind her back.

10 no-time, no-money last-minute Easter decorating secrets
I woke up to Easter decorating rather late this year.
You may already have your spring door wreath, complete with succulents and quails’ eggs on your door.
A spring wreath with succulents and quails’ eggs at Compton Furniture, in Faversham.
And you may already have your Easter egg ‘tree’, your mantelpiece ablaze with beautiful spring bulbs and an Easter table that Martha Stewart would be proud of.
Or, like me, you may be expecting guests, and they may be expecting Easter decorating. Which, somehow, never made it onto the ‘to-do’ list, in spite of us all being urged to think of Easter as ‘the new Christmas’ in decorating terms.
Everything here comes from the garden or the kitchen
pull the labels off your tins of chickpeas or tomatoes and you’ll find this lovely corrugated iron effect.
Here are some super-quick ideas you can do. Most of what you need will come from the garden.
1) Go for bright and light colours
Dig out anything bright or light. Reds, blues, greens and yellows all work well together in spring.
Mix bright and light colours together. I bought the duck napkin rings about twenty years ago, and have just re-found them at the back of a cupboard.
2) Jam jar flowers and weeding the garden
Jam jar flowers are so Easter. If you have jute twine in the tool shed (I have Nutscene in various colours), tie it round the necks. You can also use ribbon, if you have any.
(NB: links to Amazon are affiliate links which means you can click to buy. If you do, I may get a small fee, but it doesn’t affect the price you pay.)
Then fill the jars with anything that you will probably need to weed out over the next few weeks.
Jam jar flowers tied with garden twine and filled with ‘weeds’
In my garden, that’s lamium, smyrmium perfoliatum and a very hairy borage that has just popped up from nowhere.
And some purple kale has gone to seed creating gorgeous racemes of yellow and purple.
The tall flowers in the old bottles are from some kale plants which have finally run to seed after serving us well throughout the winter.
The self-seeded euphorbia could do with thinning out, too, but that’s not a plant to be cut in a hurry. Only cut euphorbia with gloves on, and wash your hands afterwards. You do not want a trip to A&E because you’ve rubbed your eyes with fingers that have been cutting euphorbia.
3) Jam jar 2: make one bunch of flowers go far
You may have time to buy a bunch of flowers. Make them go further by putting separate colours in different jam jars.
I bought this bunch of ranunculus in Faversham market for £5 – it’s the only thing I bought for this post. Divide any mixed bunch into separate colours and separate containers for a contemporary effect.
4) Or take just a few blooms from the garden
I cut only five tulips for the party to use in the bottle below. That means that I haven’t diminished the display in the garden.
These bottles are San Pellegrino drinks bottles or scent diffusers. You can also use beer or lager bottles, and vintage milk bottles are lovely. The water is coloured with food dye.
Down in this corner of England, all the daffodils have baked to a crisp in the heatwave. But there are lots of tulips around. You could cut a few branches of blossom, but I pruned mine into the shape I wanted.
Next year, I may try to remember to leave a few surplus branches on the fruit trees to use in flower arranging.
5) Use food dyes to liven up glass bottles
I only had ten minutes to ‘do the flowers’ for a party recently. Emma Slade, a Buddhist nun, who goes by the name of Ani Pema Deki, was launching her autobiography ‘Set Free’. It’s the story of how she went from a City financier to a Buddhist nun, via a life-changing violent experience.
The San Pellegrino bottles and scent diffusers, filled with dye. Some of the tulips took the dye colour up after about five days, but you don’t need to worry about that for the first 48 hours.
She has now set up a charity ‘Opening your heart to Bhutan’ to provide equipment for disabled Bhutanese orphans, and the book aims to raise money for the cause.
Back to flowers, however. I got five bottles and used a few drops of food dye in the water.
Do this carefully. Food dye stains if it runs onto surfaces and you only need a few drops.
But it’s very easy and creates a dramatic effect.
A mixed pack of coloured glasses are very useful if you like decorating tables. You’re not tied to a colour theme, and they will add life to a plain table or mix in with a coloured one. I’ve bought some from Amazon in the past.
6) Recycle tins and bottles to re-use as vases
Use old tins as flower pots. You’d have to drill drainage holes in them if you want the plants to flourish, but it won’t matter for just a few days.
An old gin bottle plus vintage milk bottles and a few other things. Our friends Rosalind and Robin keep them by the sink and pop in a few stems of whatever’s in bloom all year round.
7) Dig up plants from the garden to use in your Easter decorating
Pot plants are great on tables. If you don’t have time to pop out to the garden centre, grab a trowel.
I dug up some muscari, a primrose and a parsley plant. The parsley had self-seeded in the path, so that’s another nice bit of weeding done!
The parsley in the Golden Syrup tin self-seeded itself in the path.
I’ll probably re-plant the primrose.
8) Paint garden pots to use as planters
I use tester pots to paint standard terracotta pots. They dry quickly, and don’t require any expertise. I am famously useless at any kind of craft, so if I can do it, so can you.
Don’t bother with any special preparation unless you are a perfectionist. I just got a paintbrush and painted the pot. It was dry in a couple of hours.
The primrose was dug up from the garden, and put into a terracotta pot painted with some paint from a discarded tester pot.
9) Use all the same tricks for your mantelpiece
The bunch of ranunculus in four jam jars
.
And the same bunch in one jam jar
.which do you prefer?
10) Channel the 1950s and 60s

Spring is a time of fresh growth and hope. But it’s also nostalgic.
Evoke the Easters of the past by finding something you haven’t used for ages.  Wash china, iron tablecloths and give everything a new lease of life by presenting it differently.
My mother used to dye eggs, buy hot cross buns and serve a roast chicken. Before battery hens, roast chicken was a luxury.
However, I must warn you that food dyes will dye your fingers, your worksurface and your sink. But they won’t dye brown eggs very well. Most eggs now seem to be brown.
This eggcup has been in Mr Middlesize’s family since the 1950s. He guards it carefully.
The egg above was a duck egg, which is paler. Use alot of food dye, and it’s difficult to get even.
A moment after I took this photo, I turned my back. The dog ate the duck egg

You may notice a lack of chocolate eggs in this post. If you are waking up to Easter decorating on the Easter weekend, Easter eggs will be sold out. Round here they go on sale just after Christmas, but are usually out of stock by the Wednesday before Easter.
This post is out early, due to Easter. We’ll be back to coming out on Sunday mornings from Sunday 23rd. Plus look out for occasional ‘Wednesday giveaways.’ If you’d like to get them straight into your inbox, sign up to receive this blog in the box on the top right. Thank you!
