Summary: It's been a month since what Cardan has been calling the "reptile accident" when he decides to get up before Jude, not knowing the consequences.
OR these two are traumatised and they may not acknowledge it, but I will.
Trigger warnings (already put in the tags but I'm not sure if I did it right so better safe than sorry): panic attack, cussing
It's weird how easily you fall into routine. It's barely been a month since what Cardan has started calling the "reptile accident" or the one he likes best "revealing his true form" (although that one isn't used in front of Jude, she's not sure why but she prefers it that way). Anyway, it's been a month since Cardan has been transformed into a snake, since Cardan and Jude has started to live together as the King and Queen of Elfhame but they have already established a routine, even if neither of them has noticed it until today.
Jude is always the first to wake up - Jude was raised by a general and Cardan by a prince, so that part is obvious. She dresses first, giving Mr. Lazy time to sleep, and then she wakes up sleeping beauty even though he always complains that while there aren't people busting into the room saying he's late, she's waking him up early. He never says he hates it. Jude suspects is because he can't lie. From then, Jude orders breakfast while Cardan dresses up, and they eat together before having to deal with their royal obligations.
Today, however, was different. Shockingly, Jude was able to have some good 6 hours of sleep and woke up a bit disoriented. See, this is the bad part about sleeping a lot. When you wake up, your senses take a while to turn on. That's definitely the reason why Jude barely sleeps, at least that's what she tells everyone when they ask her. Because of that, she took a bit to notice that she was alone in bed, which triggered something in her brain. She instantly gets out of bed and starts to look in every corner of their room repeating to herself that everything is fine, Cardan just woke up earlier and is dressing up or putting the hundred of layers that he puts every morning because "I know I look impressive naturally but I am the High King, Jude, I have to look perfect". Except he is nowhere to be found.
See, a small but important part of this quickly created routine was when Jude woke up and she would always look to the side and see Cardan relaxed and asleep, would look at his chest rise and fall and make sure that, yes, he's alive and, no, this last month was not a fever dream, he really is here. Without that confirmation, Jude is starting to spiral, and the fact that Cardan is not in the room doesn't help.
She tries to take a deep breath. She's the High Queen goddammit, she can't panic every time a minor routine change happens. But the truth is that she cannot take the deep breath. She cannot even take a small breath. She's pretty sure she's not breathing at all. But she has to because Cardan needs her. Jude goes through her options: one, he did wake up earlier, got knocked off in the room but somewhere hidden where she didn't check; two, he got knocked off somewhere in the castle and his unconscious body is lying there; three, he got abducted while he slept; four... Maybe last month was a fever dream. No, she is not going to think about option four.
While she does a more precise search through their room, she also tries to think of who would do this. He's the King of Elfhame, so it's obvious that he has a lot of enemies, but she is not remembering anyone who's this mad at him right now. However, her hands are trembling and there's still not enough air reaching her lungs, so maybe her memory is not the best at the moment. You were almost deadly stabbed before the incident.
Ok, he is not in the room, so option number two. This one is not the most likely. If someone knocked him off, they wouldn't just leave him in the middle of the corridor, and Faes don't just slip, so he couldn't have knocked himself out. Besides the palace is huge, it would take too long to search. Maybe you were less healed than you thought. Option number three it is. There are three windows in the room. The climb is hard but not impossible, she has done it herself while having a major injury. A major injury that could have been infected. Jude shakes her head and checks the three windows. None of them is broken and they are all locked from the inside, like they were when they went to sleep, which she knows because she always checks that before going to bed. Unless the person was a master spy (which is an option), she doesn't know how someone pulled that of. The other way into the room is through the door, so she quickly opens it, revealing two knights part of her security.
"Was there any disturbance last day?" She would be surprised that her voice somehow didn't fail if she was at all worried with that right now.
"We heard or seen nothing different than usual, your majesty."
"Have you fallen asleep or abandoned your post anytime during your shift?" The knights were visibly offended by that, but she had to clear all her options.
"No, your majesty. Is everyth-" Having her answers, Jude closes the door, leaving the knights to their jobs. If she was in her right mind she would have noticed that she was still in her bed clothes, her hair was mess, the room was worse and her hands still trembled and her breath was still labored. But she was not her in her right mind. Cardan is missing- He was not here at all. Her husband is missing and she is going to find him. Maybe he was taken outside their bedroom and there is going to be some kind of clue outside of it.
She is about to open the door again when a thought crosses her mind. The lover's bedroom. There is a pathway between that room and the High King and Queen's room. That is how whoever took Cardan got in. No one got in. Hallucinations caused by infections are common, at least for mortals. She slides through the pathway towards the other bedroom but is met with a similar scenario. No window was broken and all of them are closed from the inside, same with the door, no signs of breaking. Stop looking for what you won't find. You know you can barely remember anything after cutting Cardan's head off. It was the serpents head. You know that's the same thing. There was a battlefield where you broke down. You could have easily been stabbed. I would remember it. Would you? Sometimes, our mind purposely forgets traumatic memories. You could have passed out. No. You could have dreamt. Stop. Cardan is dead and you have been feeding yourself this fantasy because you can't deal with the guilt. STOP. You killed him and now you're living in a world without him and you'll keep living in it because that's the reality. I SAID STOP.
Jude. The sound of something breaking. She can't do it. She can't go back to those three days. She can't live without Cardan's mockery. She can't live without his laugh. She can't.
JUDE. She's shaking now, or someone is shaking her, she's not lucid enough to understand. God, he's her anchor. She doesn't know what to do without him. She wants to go back to sleep. She wants to go back to their routine. She wants to hear him complain about waking up early again. She wants to feel his fingers playing with her hair again. She wants-
JUDE! Cardan. She opens her eyes (since when were they closed?) and faces the love of her life's face. He looks adorably worried, full make up and hair nicely treated. She can't help but smile. "Cardan" she whispers, trying not to force her voice tired from screaming and crying (curious, she doesn't remember that). She puts her head in the space between his neck and shoulder and he starts rubbing circles on her back. "Stay" she pleads. Because that's what she's doing, pleading to the universe to let her stay in this fever dream, to have more time with Cardan, even if it isn't real, even if he's dead, even if that's her fault and there's just her to blame.
"Always" and that pisses her off. Because that's what Cardan would say, that's how Cardan looks, that's how Cardan acts and this mind prison has no right to be this close to reality.
"Liar" she spits. He looks mostly confused and a bit hurt but she doesn't care, this isn't real so nothing fucking matters.
"Jude, I would never abandon you-"
"But you did!" she's close to screaming now, but she doesn't care, her voice was cracking, but it doesn't matter. She has to get this out. "You abandoned me for three days because of that prophechy bullshit. You left me to rule Elfhame while simultaneously dealing with the schemings that my father and the frozen royalty was fucking doing and the fact that the love of my life was a goddam snake and then I, and I-" she can't get it out, she still can't believe it.
"You saved me."
"I killed you." she is fully sobbing now, but she can't stop. She gets up (she was sitting down?) and keeps going "You're dead and this is just a manifestation from my brain, because somewhere else I'm also dying and I hope I do because I can't live in a world where you're not. I physically will not be able to continue without you!" She sinks into the floor using the bed as support and Cardan sits in front of her. He has a puzzled expression in his face. They stay some time in silence, Jude catching her breath and Cardan trying to put pieces together.
"Why do you think I'm not real?" he finally asks, his voice tiny as if he's afraid of the answer.
"You weren't there." Jude matches his tone. "When I woke up. I always check to make sure you're there because if you are, then that means you're real and I'm not dreaming. At first, I thought you were kidnapped. That's why I'm here, I thought this was how whoever took you got in."
"My wife, scheming even when she's panicking." he's looking at her with that adoration in his eyes that never fails to take her breath away. "Let's keep scheming, shall we?" He looks at her, waiting for an answer so she nods. "You say that you are dreaming, you're in this coma and you can't wake up. Well, let's test this theory. Did you know that you can't read in dreams?" Another nod. Cardan gets up, picks a book from the bedside table and hands it to her. "Well, can you read?" The answer is yes. The book was a mortal romance that she was sure she had seen in Cardan's hands. That meant that this was real, Cardan was here and she hadn't killed him. Immediate relief washed over and with that came more tears that she hadn't noticed when they stopped. God, she was a mess. This is ridiculous, she is being ridiculous. Trying to look less like she just had a mental breakdown over nothing Jude attempts to clean the tears that don't stop. Of course this is reality, of course Cardan just woke up earlier and went to do god knows what. She's the fucking High Queen and she can't stand when her husband is out earlier, can't keep a cool head, can't-
"Stop." Cardan gently takes the hands that are trying to hide the tears that keep coming, why don't they stop? "Don't do that." His tone is gentle but secure and so goddamn grounding, how does he do it?
"Do what?"
"Close yourself. I could see the moment you realised that this was the reality because that was the moment the mask came back on. You're probably thinking that you don't have the right to feel this way because you can't show weaknesses or whatever bullshit your mind thinks of." Sometimes it's scary how well he knows her. "Don't close yourself from me." He is rubbing circles with his thumb on the back of her hand and it feels so right, everything about him feels so right.
"I'm fine."
"No, you're not." His tone is becoming more frustrated. "This is obviously bothering you, but I had no idea and because of my ignorance you just had a fucking panic attack." Her eyebrows went up. "I may have been reading about mortal psychology, but that's not important, what's important is," he moves his hands to cup her face and cleans the tears - that have finally stopped - with his thumb. "You don't have to pretend with me."
"You're one to talk." She retaliates but doesn't push him away. "You haven't said another word about those three days since I asked what it was like being a snake on the same day you stopped being one." Cardan laughs because he's Cardan and he laughs when he's nervous and he is not the only one who knows the other too well, she can see in his eyes that the thought of having to speak of those three days of hell terrifies him as much as her.
He moves to her side and sighs. "We really are made for each other, aren't we?" He seems to consider something before saying. "Let's make a pact. Whenever we want the other to open up, we say a code word and they have to do it after we reveal something that has been bothering us. No lies, no tricks, just the plain truth. Deal?" He gives her his right hand. It is always dangerous to make a deal with a fae, but this is Cardan, they have passed the backstabbing phase when she came back from exile. She takes his hand and shakes it.
"Deal. But we have to choose the word, something that we won't say normally."
"California." The place they went on their honeymoon instead of being on the two weeks celebrations of the Mortal Queen's victory over the serpent. The place where they were just two teenagers in love and not The Queen and King of Elhame, not the warrior and the prince, not the people with traumatic childhood, not the two broken pieces of what should be two whole people.
"Sounds great."
"I said it, so I start." He takes a deep breath and speaks. "I woke up earlier today because I had a nightmare. I wasn't someone trapped inside the snake like people like to believe, I was the snake. When the snake died, I died, even if for a few seconds." Jude takes a sharp breath, she always took comfort in the fact that she hadn't cut his head, but what was trapping him, that he hadn't felt anything. Cardan notices and takes both her hands and looks at her straight in the eyes. "I don't blame you, nor will I ever. If I say something assumimg the opposite, you have the premission to cut my head because that is not me. But as I was saying, when I saw you taking out the sword, I couldn't help but feel relief, but when you dealt the blow I, I-" another deep breath "I couldn't feel anything. I don't remember anything. I died. And that terrifies me. I was. I wasn't there. I replay that in my mind countless days, but today was so vivid, I couldn't fall back asleep, so I got out. I needed fresh air. I needed to be alone with my thoughts. I should've come back when it was time to wake up, I should've woken you, I didn't know that you needed that, but if I did, I would have done it."
They stay a few moments in silence, taking deep breaths and deep in thoughts.
"Your turn."
She wants to sugar-coat it. She wants to say that it wasn't that bad, she doesn't want to see guilt in his face even if it isn't his fault. But Cardan didn't sugar-coated when he revealed that what she did hurt him even if he knew it was going to hurt her. So instead, she says:
"Those were the worst three days of my life. I honestly thought it was going to be ok when we were negotiating with Madoc. That we won, they were going to surrender and we would be fine. Then I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to believe when Grimsen said that only death would save you. I went to Baphen, I went to the Old King, but all of them had the same answer. Somehow I had to rule the fucking kingdom while grieving a death that I didn't believe in. On top of all of that the court of teeths was on my throat, making plans to try to turn you and me into their puppets like their daughter. The relief that I had when I saw you alive was bigger than anything I thought I could feel, but the time between that and when I cutted the sna- your head it was my lowest. It was a hole and I was at the deep end with no way out. I cannot live without you." She stops to look at him. Look at his black hair and his eyes that look like black holes. His pale skin and his small mouth. No, she can't imagine a world without him. But that moment was close, so close. "I am so scared that I will go back to that void, I'm so scared that the universe wasn't as kind as I thought, I'm so scared to not wake up next to you."
He puts his arm around her shoulder and she puts her head on his. Jude looks up and sees tears running down Cardan's face, so she hugs him, feeling his other arm surround her. They stay silent for some time while Carden cries in Jude's shoulder and Jude just holds him close, all her tears wasted a few minutes ago.
"I'm sorry." Cardan was the one to break the silence.
"Not your fault."
"Liar."
"I wouldn't lie to you." It's the truth.
"May I remind you that you said you were fine while bawling your eyes out a few minutes ago?" OK, half true.
"When you have a nightmare, find me. I don't care if I just went to sleep, I don't care if I hadn't slept in days, I don't care if I'm not even asleep and you have to drag me out of my work, find me."
"When you feel like this is not real, find me. I don't care if you have to send someone to do it, I don't care if you run around the palace screaming my name, I don't care if I'm in the most important reunion, find me."
They break the hug to look at each other and say at the same time, "Deal".
"Sooo, do you want to have breakfast in bed and completely run away from our responsibilities?"
"We're the King and Queen of Elfhame."
"Exactly, there is no one above to stop us."
"We have an entire kingdom depending on us."
"Well, as the High King, I order you to stay in bed with me."
"As the High Queen, I'm going to refuse that order."
"Come on, you're mortal, you can say that we are sick or something." Jude's going to retaliate, but honestly? She's exhausted and spending the night in bed with her husband doesn't seem the worst idea.
"You are a horrible influence, do you know that?"
"Does that mean I win?"
She sighs. "Yes, you win."
"Yay" He says, getting up and doing a little spin like a child who was able to negotiate bedtime with their parents. She can't help but smile at his shenanigans.
Next, he does an extremely exaggerated bow and continues. "After you, my queen."
At that, she fully laughs, takes his hand and goes down the pathway with him. She hates being vulnerable, but with him, it isn't that bad. How do we take the armour off? A piece at a time. She feels like they just took another one.

So, I had this idea since I finished Queen of Nothing and since I didn't see any fic like this I decided to make it myself. The characters may be a bit OOC, I'm not tha familiar with them. I am not a writer and my first language is not English, so apologies for any mistake. đ«¶

Darling Death
âYou can be a king or a street sweeper, but everyone dances with the
Grim Reaper.â
- Robert Alton Harris
Chapter 1 - Day 1
I ran late for work that morning, but made sure to grab coffee on the way in. We normally didn't expect customers for another hour. 7 am was pretty early, even for book worms. I grabbed my mobile order from the coffee shop three doors down from my bookshop, Chapters that Change, and cursed under my breath as I saw someone already waiting outside.
"Sorry, I'm sorry!" I said sympathetically as, I fished my keys out of my fringy cross body bag. I sloshed coffee on my t-shirt in the process. "Shit."
It was a man who was waiting. He looked familiar, like someone I knew or saw somewhere recently. He looked mysterious and maybe a little bit lethal in all black and mostly leather. Black leather pants, a black t-shirt topped with a light black leather overcoat that stretched down to his knees, and black boots, combat style. He didn't say anything as I profusely apologized and dropped my keys three times in the process of trying to unlock the front door. He just stared, an eyebrow arched--in amusement or confusion, I wasn't sure. When I finally opened the door, he slid in behind me, so close I should have been able to feel the warmth of his body.
"Do you need-" I started, turning around to talk to my mysterious customer. "help...with anything...?" He was gone.
I dove into my work, wondering where he may have gone, but quickly forgot about him as I processed new releases and donations. Chapter that Change was a bookstore that sold both second handbooks, and a select few new books, mostly from local and indie authors. I was able to spend most of the first hour in the backroom, scanning inventory and checking conditions of books, anything with ripped pages had to go went into a bargain bin, while anything with mold or water damage went into the garbage. Mold is like a disease to books once one has it, they all will.
Then, I felt it. He was behind me. I turned, my voice catching in my throat even though I knew He was there.
"I-you-what-"
He stopped there again. His arched eyebrow as menacing as it was attractive. He turned, looking behind him as if there was a possibility I was talking to someone else rather than the ominous stranger in my backroom.
"You can't be in here," I finally choked out.
He nodded once, turned again and walked out. I watched him through the slim glass window on the door, hoping he'd walk out of my store all together. Instead, he turned left, traveling deeper into the bookstore.
"Who are you talking to?"
I jumped, yelping as I turned around. Josie arrived through the back entrance, holding her coffee and a laptop, looking as confused as I felt.
"You didn't see that guy?" I asked looking over my shoulder. "He's..."
"Is he hot?" Josie asked.
"I mean, yeah he's hot but he's kinda creepy, like...in an ominous Joe Goldburg way, you know?"
"Oh, fuck. Where is he? Is he still here?" Josie sat down her coffee on top of her laptop, already making her way into the store. She was always looking for a causal fuck.
"He's out there somewhere," I said, waving her off. "Ask him to leave? He's creeping me out."
Josie was already gone, scoping the place out for the mystery man. I finished scanning in my stack of books and loaded my cart up, then dragged it out to the floor to stock. Most of the books on my cart were heavy, in both weight and content: Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King, Bram Stoker. I walked over to the second-hand horror section, stopping at 'K' for King. I got about four books on the shelf until I noticed a pair of eyes staring at me from the other side. I screamed, sending my cart flying down the aisle as I took quick steps away from Him. My back slammed against the spines of books behind me. Half of the books on my cart now strewn across the floor. He stood up straight, towering over the cases of books and made his way around until he was standing over me. He offered his hand in what I thought was to help me off the floor, but when I grabbed it my vision went black. Everything sounded like it was underwater and far away. I felt myself jerking on the floor, but I couldn't do anything about it. Then He appeared in the vision and behind him stood something taller, darker and evil. A cloaked figure, with seemingly no face. Boney hands appeared from baggy sleeves and held a 7-foot-tall scythe. The man from the bookstore knelt down and cupped my face gently and my convulsions stopped.
"My dear, y/n," He said, his voice backed by the dark, evil thing behind, speaking the same words he spoke, only several octaves lower. "You have thirteen days."
Then, the world came back into view, almost overwhelmingly so. The air around me was loud. The ground under me was cold and hard. My breathing was rapid and my heart was beating so hard I could feel it in my stomach and ears. Josie stood over me, her eyes wide with fear.
"What the fuck is going on?" I shifted on the ground, backing myself into the bookcase again. "Oh my god, y/n, are you high?"
"What?! No! I don't..." I stood up, using the bookshelves behind me as leverage. I still felt weak, and I didn't trust my legs to support me. As the front door came into view, I heard the bell ding and the door swing shut as He left the bookstore.
"Hello?! Earth to y/n!?" Josie snapped in front of my face.
"No, no. I don't know what's happening." There was a sudden overwhelming need to follow Him. Like a gravitational pull that was dragging me toward the door. "Can you hang on a minute? I gotta check on something."
I left Josie, dumbfounded in the horror section as I ran after Him. He was easy to spot, but hard to catch up to. His strides were long, compared to my short ones. I had to run and push through the morning crowd on their way to work before I grabbed his coat and spun him around. Shockingly, he spun around, that same look of half confusion half amusement on his face.
"What the fuck was that!?" I yelled.
Passersby looked at me like I was crazy, giving me incredulous looks and side eyes.
"Whose she talking to, mama?" I heard a little boy ask, but that didn't register until much later.
"What was what?" He finally spoke, his voice the same was the one in the vision I had in the bookstore.
"Oh, for fucks sake," I said, already tired of His games and people looking at me like I was psychotic. I grabbed His arm and pulled him into the ally next to us. "You following me into the bookstore, barging into my backroom, and then grabbing my hand and giving me some fucked up vision or some shit! Who are you!?"
The man laughed, "You're asking the wrong questions, y/n."
"What the fuck does that mean?"
He shrugged.
"What was that?" I tried the question again.
"That was your fate."
"My fate? What the fuck does that even mean?"
"I wasn't expecting you to be able to see me," he said, annoyed.
"What? Can you please just try to make sense for five fucking seconds?"
The man took steps toward me, the heels of his boots heavy against the old brick of the alley. He stopped once he was close enough for me to feel the cold radiate off of his body.
"What does that even mean?"
"It means," his breath was so cold, "most people can't see Death coming."

For the there was only one bed prompts: 13 for False and Cleo?
schaumi you have blessed me with this prompt, i love it so much. this uh turned out a lot longer than expected. count on me to suddenly write 1K of fluff. have some fluff featuring a pining idiot cleo. content warning for alcohol consumption. rated t due to cleo's vocabulary.
"I can take the floor?" "No it's alright, besides it's big enough for the both of us."
Suite Night
"Ugh." Cleo sighed, following False into the hotel suite. "I love X, but next time he and Keralis fall ill he can get someone else to fill in for him." She dropped her suitcase near the door. There was probably a stand somewhere, the hotel had four stars after all, but she couldn't be bothered. False chuckled.
"It's not that bad. The representatives weren't too bad this year!" She stretched, and her powder blue dress shirt came free from the waistband of her skirt, exposing the slightest strip of her bare abdomen. Cleo raised an eyebrow.
"We're we talking to the same idiots?" They walked up to False and pressed the back of their hand to the other woman's forehead. "You haven't got a fever, so you're not delirious. I counted three separate comments on your breasts, one on my arse, four zombie racists, and I stopped tallying the amount of times I got misgendered after seven." False's shoulders and face dropped, and Cleo immediately felt like biting her own tongue off.
"I really am sorry about that, Cleo. The sponsors, they're old money. Stuck in their ways."
"Even super glue has a solvent," Cleo muttered. They sighed. "Thank you for correcting them when I got tired of it, I do appreciate it." Smiling, False replied: "You're welcome."
"Well then." Cleo awkwardly cleared her throat. "I'm about ready to tear this penguin suit off and sleep for twelve glorious, uninterrupted hours before this circus starts all over again."
"Hm, I could go for a shower before bed." False was already digging through her duffel bag and retrieving various items.
"You do that; I'll order us something to drink and to snack on and pick a bed." Cleo grinned, already on their way to the phone.
"I'll take an ice cold white wine," False decided. "I won't be long." Cleo nodded, and False disappeared into the bathroom. It was a decently large suite, with a seating area with a tv and a dining table with room for two. The entire hotel was booked, with all servers looking to find sponsors for the new season. Xisuma had gotten lucky when he booked that there was a suite available at all.
The receptionist had a pleasant voice and took Cleo's order of a chilled bottle of white and a variety of charcuterie, put it on Mr Void's invoice. If Cleo was stuck here playing lust object for old white men, she was at least getting some decadent snacks out of it. The kitchen informed her they would bring it up to them within fifteen minutes, which would be just long enough for Cleo to choose the bed they wanted. Grabbing their suitcase, they walked over to the ensuite.
"Oh crap."
There was only one, king-sized bed.
Fuck! Xisuma had booked the room for himself and Keralis, of course they wouldn't want separate beds! No-one had thought of that when she and False had rushed to the event in their place this morning. Now what?
Cleo wasn't sure how long she had been standing in the doorway, but suddenly she heard False's voice behind her: "Claimed the nicest bed for yourself yet?"
"Uh. About that." Cleo stepped aside, trying not to stare at False as she entered the room clad only in an oversized tee.
"Oh." False bit her lip. "Guess this was booked for our lovebirds, huh?" She walked up to the bed and picked a rose petal off of the sheets.
"Yeah, but it's fine. I can sleep on the floor!" Cleo blurted out. They ran a hand through their hair. "I'm sure I can ask for a cot or an extra mattress or something. It's fine!" Her voice had gone up an entire octave as she spoke.
"Don't be ridiculous, Cleo." False turned to face her. "It's more than big enough for the both of us. I don't mind sharing." Suddenly, her voice got quieter. "... unless you do? Mind?"
"No, not at all!" Cleo really needed to get their volume and pitch under control. "We can-- yeah, we can share!" False yawned.
"Great. Then I vote for wine in bed, because I'm going to have to wear heels for at least five hours tomorrow as well as dance in them, and I want to get my feet up for as long as I possibly can in advance." A knock sounded at the door. Room service! "I'll go get the door so you can change. Just yell when you're ready, yeah?" Cleo nodded wordlessly.
As Cleo opened their suitcase, they cursed quietly. Out of all things she could have grabbed to wear to bed, why did it have to be an old tee and baggy shorts? She had blindly taken some things from her wardrobe this morning, and this is what she had ended up with. At least there weren't any holes in them, they supposed. Cleo quickly took off her suit and changed into her nightclothes. She replaced the bandage on her bite with a fresh clean one, and pulled her hair into a ponytail.
"Ready!" they yelled into the general direction of False when they had shoved their suitcase under the bed and had gathered the rose petals into a small pile on one of the nightstands. The blonde quickly reappeared in the bedroom, carefully carrying a tray with Cleo's order on it.
"Great choices," False commented as she placed the tray on the foot of the bed. "This looks amazing. Got a preference for a side?" She motioned at the bed.
"I prefer to be furthest from the windows," Cleo admitted. "Sunlight's not deadly, but it's not comfortable either."
"You got it!" False elegantly climbed into the far side of the bed, taking care not to kick their wine or snacks. Once Cleo had gotten in on the other side, False admitted: "I do feel bad for Xisuma and Keralis. This was supposed to be their date night, I guess."
"We'll have to make sure we enjoy it on their behalf then," Cleo replied without thinking. When they realised what they had just said, they stammered: "I mean, uh..." False smiled and handed her a glass of wine.
"I think I get what you mean. Cheers." As their glasses touched, False pressed a kiss to Cleo's cheek. "Out of all the Hermits I could be sharing a bed with right now, I'm happy it's you."
"Yeah..." Cleo fell quiet and quickly took a sip of their wine. False grabbed the remote control from her nightstand.
"Wanna watch some bad late-night TV?" Cleo breathed a sigh of relief.
"Sounds good to me." False smiled, and Cleo had to remind herself to breathe. As the noise of some random talkshow filled the room, False shifted closer to her so she could grab a piece of cheese. Their thighs touched, sending electricity down Cleo's spine. They tried to stay calm as False nestled herself against their side, her head resting against their chest. If she noticed how fast Cleo's heart was beating, she didn't say a thing.
"Glad it's you," False repeated, already beginning to sound sleepy.
"Me too," Cleo replied this time. "Me too."

Rushsly: The Early Days 4
Welcome to the last pre-caverns episode, sorry I've been dragging my ass on that!!! Sorry about the slow update in general, I was busy all day. It will either disappoint or relieve you to know that I didn't think about kobbles at all until after I got home and took a nap.
I could kill them. You definitely shouldn't think things like that. But I could pull the lever and just crunch them up. The wagon, the guards, the buffalo, just take it all to fucking crunch city. Shut Toastsdrip and Rarsa Tightnesstrusses would be smashed in an instant ok nah because I am not physically capable of doing violence to a guy named "Shut Toastsdrip" that just ain't in me!!!! That's one guy I don't want to even entertain the thought of killing!! But I still do. But I won't do it if you were wondering. I have all sorts of intrusive thoughts because of severe OCD that I have never actually acted on, besides maybe within the safe confines of a virtual space like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive where I can throw a flashbang right at my team's spawn at the start of the round or ping my squadmate in the head just as he settles in to the perfect camping position, get kicked from the server, and go on about my day. I've been getting Instagram ads telling me that people would like to pay me to do some experimental medicinal treatment that's supposed to make the intrusive thoughts go away, but despite the fact that I spent my 20s taking any drug I was ever offered with wild abandon and that includes freebasing bath salts I have grown into the kind of guy who is not actually enthusiastic about the prospect of testing weird new drugs. But this series isn't about me it's about Dwarf Fortress the greatest simulation game of all time.
Oh shit I didn't know Ace Steel was in my fort. Actually I'm literally going to rename this guy "Ace Steel" because that's funny to me.
This is going to confuse the fuck out of me in 4 hours when I've completely forgot about it and just see his job title pop up somewhere. Well anyway let's talk about traps shall we? Not the music genre unfortunately (though if you have a girlfriend I highly recommend putting on this classic of the prototypical genre or maybe this one to frighten her) I mean the serrated iron disc kind.
Across 5 Z-levels, this is the general layout of traps. Let's start from the bottom because that's where invaders will hopefully think it is a good idea to enter the fortress from, via an unassuming little ramp down into the ground while thinking "those idiots really left their back door open!" So just to start things off we have the old faithful, cage traps - they don't always work, but when they do work, they always work. It alternates in rows with sets of sawblade traps, which I've never actually used in a fortress before, and the first two levels are just that. The third level is where things get interesting - stonefall traps are, for the most part, completely fucking useless unless you use them in tandem with environmental hazards. For some reason they are incredibly easy to dodge, but the successful dodging of our literal rat-bastard invaders is exactly what is being banked on, in order to plunge them into deep, deadly little puddles of water. You can kill real rats kind of like that using a bucket that they fall into to drown them, but you shouldn't. If you're going to kill any kind of creature drowning is obscene and cruel. And also remember that when you die and go to purgatory you will be killed just the same way as everything you have killed, down to the last little bug, so if you ever must kill anything be absolutely sure to make it quick, merciful, and painless. The rats in Dwarf Fortress aren't real though and they also like to kill my cute innocent little kobbles so I feel fine about finding the humor in them barely staggering through four rows of sawblade traps just to fall off a tiny precipice and drown. Anyway after that there's a little "reprieve room" for the bastards who survived to regroup - I might add more traps later, but everyone having to haul around the big iron mechanisms and boulders was really cutting into productivity, so we'll see about that. Finally there's the piece de resistance - still being constructed because the coal is very far away and heavy, but either way it is exactly what I said it was, a paved road made out of bituminous coal that will (hopefully!) be ignited by pockets of magma when the floodgates are opened by an unassuming little lever posted over by the tavern. At the end are doors which will bait the invaders as long as they remain unsealed, which works for now, though ideally something more reliable like a retractable bridge over a big-ass hole would make a far better final bulwark than just some literally glass doors. But I'm choosing to believe this stuff is all glass in the "Morrowind glass armor" sense not the "Headshop guy dropping a perfectly good bong on the tile floor to try and prove a vaguely Sinophobic point" sense. But why go through all this trouble anyway? Let's answer this by digging into the minds of some more kobbles, we haven't done that for a while - I think we'd do well to start with our glorious leader Acl Controlledown.
We see him working on the same drudgery as any given peasant must, intricately engraving every single tile of the three-space apartments.
He draws monkeys (I highly approve) trees and plants all over the bedroom of a random archer as selflessly as any kobble with 1/10th of his stature. He performs religious rites and makes friends and gets scared thinking about dead bodies. Anyone should be proud to toil under such leadership as would literally carve a drawing of a monkey into their bedroom wall just to make them a bit happier! When's the last time you saw a politician in the real world do any actual work? They hardly even make phone calls for themselves. They don't even drive their own cars! And whose bedroom does he do this for?
A mother who left both her lovers and her child behind to strike the earth here, who likes poetry and music and pangolins and turkeys for their snood!!!!! and will gladly fight for peace, will gladly kill for Rushsly, has already killed for Rushsly, might one day die for Rushsly.
A few stories up Kody Inkblighted comes under a fey mood, and begins weaving away an artifact of sheep wool, bristle cloth, and... jet blocks?
Its artifact is completed just as the fire-road is, just as the winter ends, just as a brand new year begins. The year 253, our fourth year in the fortress - a good enough fortress to be certain, not a great or terrible fortress - but good enough is never really enough. As anyone who's spent a little too long with an opiate habit can tell you the only such thing as "enough" is too much. And so with above-ground defenses mostly taken care of (though we could admittedly use some more bird towers) it's time to break into the cavern layers.
The plan for now is to just keep digging down the main 3x3 stairway, starting at -10 and cutting out "vents" every 5 floors. I'd very much like to not accidentally dig out onto the ground level, since that way we should be more-or-less protected from any forgotten beast that can't fly, but in Dwarf Fortress you don't really choose what happens. The simulation ultimately doesn't care about you or what you want and in a world of overwrought games where characters yell out the solution to puzzles before you're even finished looking them over that kind of agnosticism is refreshing. Even RimWorld, a very similar game to DF (and quite a good one, greetz fly out to all the RimWorld fans đ€) there is an AI narrator system in place that tries to algorithmically tool the experience to a satisfying, demanding but fair level of challenge. Dwarf Fortress has no such pretense, things just happen and YOU have to be the one that adapts. But it's historically been quite easy for me to play this game by just ignoring my kobbles entirely, barely spending a second on the Personality tabs and just treating the game as a purely mechanical exercise. I guess that's the point of this whole blog, to rediscover the fun over 250 hours into the Steam release by letting the game and I write a story together instead of just being just a game. I also like to dot this story with absurd and far-too-long asides and anecdotes because I am an insane person, and there is a certain kind of catharsis in randomly telling strangers on the internet stuff like "I was haunted by a vision of straight-up biting a guy on the bus for sitting in this weird sideways manner right in front of me that made me have to keep making awkward glancing eye contact with him" though I do apologize if you were just here looking for normal Dwarf Fortress content. I am not a normal person and have no interest in making normal things. I would recommend "Kruggsmash" and "hoodie hair" on YouTube if that's what you were looking for because I find their videos to be particularly high quality, though I can't imagine anyone who wants to get off this fucked-up ride is actually still here, especially not at the end of this fucking barely-relevant run-on nightmare of a paragraph.
Well that was fucking easy, didn't even have to deviate from the staircase at all. However, we can barely actually fucking see any of it - the height of this cavern layer is -15 but the little bit of floor we can see is at -71. Jeez
We're going to carefully dig down to -60 without exposing ourselves, then punch out just a small hole to get a better look.
Zhag Gillpoker forges fearlessly ahead into the great unknown - not just fearlessly but all-around emotionlessly, actually. Provided nothing fucked up happens to him in the immediate future he's definitely getting transfered over to the military - breaching the caverns should get at least some kind of reaction, even from an admittedly "cheerless" kobble. Oh well, down we go!
Up on the surface, bunys arrive with a wagon, and I think about how I really need to move the trade depot a couple tiles over so that I'll stop being so tempted to smush whoever's sitting on it, or more likely, won't accidentally smush whoever's inevitably on it when the next invasion occurs.
The metal/glass production floor got all cleaned up just in time for the mold to start showing up :\
Kobbles have started doing my least favorite thing, leaving piles of meat/meals on the floor even though there's tons of empty barrels. I think they'll stop if I dig out more space and make the stockpile bigger, and I had the good sense after like 10 forts whose denizens inevitably started doing this to start making sure my kitchen/butcher/raw food stockpiles are walled off, but it never gets any less annoying. I mean look at the empty pots and barrels right fucking there, mere steps away! Do not come crying to me when it starts giving off miasma, this is your own fault!! I think I get so instinctively mad at this because it reminds me of roommates leaving dishes in the sink so long they got moldy or started to stink, then acting like I was somehow contributing to the problem when I literally only owned one pan, one pot, one bowl, one plate, one fork, one spoon, one butter knife and one chef's knife and washed them every single time I used them and also had to hide them in my room because I didn't want them being used and left in the fucking sink with the expectation that I would clean up after their lazy bum bachelor asses like I was their mom!!!!
The problem is mitigated, at least in part, by gifting a frankly astoundingly valuable pile of prepared food to the bunys, because they are cute and I like them so I want them to have a nice little lunch on their way home. We relieve them of all their cheese, all their leather, and most of their cloth. A couple lucky kobbles will also be receiving new socks and shoes.
A diplomat meets with Acl to tell us all about the latest developments in buny civilization and I'm so smitten with how adorable these guards are. Look at those cute little wooden spears!!!
The diplomat, amusingly known as Minefield, checks out our temples approvingly, particularly enjoying the doors, before heading off on his way. I love these guys. I want all bunnies to be happy.
Making more room for the stockpile only made things worse. If those meals in the tavern start rotting I'm about to flip the fuck out
Way down below, we've finally got a good view into the cavern, and have found... absolutely no beasties at all, to our pleasant surprise.
Up on the surface we've QUADRUPLED our peacock numbers!!! You can't see because the screenshot isn't animated but a couple of those tiles hold TWO lil homies. In addition to that we also bought a live goose off the bunys, so we are in absolute bird business. Just as an extra bulwark we're also going to put up some random statues as a secondary alarm system. If you're not in the know, you get a notification when a building is toppled, and rampaging bastards like were-beasts and raiders love to destroy statues. This means that you can get a general "radar"-like sense of where enemies that haven't been revealed yet are, because the game will show you where a statue was felled, even if it's not allowed to show you who felled it yet. Since green glass is basically just free to us at this point we may as well dot the entire edge of the map with statues. This is kind of a lot of work just to weasel out of having a squad patrol outside but I just don't want to take that risk!!
A single migrant arrives, and with him, the realization that we have no siege weaponry. He should make a good fit for the military at least, though I fear I have already begun thinking about ballistae and catapults and the kinds of fun that can be had with them...
But I'll have to figure that out tomorrow because it's 4 in the morning and my computer has been on too long so it's starting to lag. I'm considering this "the end of the first arc" even though it doesn't seem like things will be all that different from this point on. Forgotten beasts can show up from the caverns now but they could always show up on the surface too, I think this world might just generally be chiller than what I'm used to. Hey wow this might be the first entire update I went without almost talking about David Cage

Books I Couldn't Finish
As you may recall from one of my previous posts, it takes a lot for me to break up with a book.
In fact, there are few things I dislike more than admitting to myself things just arenât working out.
It doesnât happen often, but admittedly post-2020 I have become slightly more discerning in terms of doing things that make me happy, and not continuing with things that donât. Life is simply too short.
So with some regret, here is a short list of books I couldnât finish.
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
Over the last few months, I have been working my way through all 100 books recommended by Oprah Winfrey as part of her Book Club. This book is (so far!) the only one I could not bring myself to finish.
Set in 1956, it takes the form of a letter from the elderly Reverend John Ames to his young son. In the letter, the reverend reflects on his life, his Christian faith, spirituality, community, love, death and loneliness. The book is largely a religious text (or at least thatâs how it seemed to me) and the plot is minimal.
Gilead started off well, but I soon found that every few pages my mind would begin drifting onto other subjects such as work, my to-do list or what to make for dinner. Sometimes, within a few minutes I drifted off to sleep. That is not a good thing at 3pm in the afternoon! Ultimately, after 110 pages, Iâd got the gist.
Shortly afterwards, I was slightly horrified to find that the book was part of a series, and four were recommended by Oprah as part of her reading list! Sorry Oprah, I donât think Iâll be revisiting Gilead any time soon.
2. Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut
This book is a semi-autobiographical account of the Dresden fire bombing by British and American air forces in 1945. Thatâs the first Iâve heard of it.
I donât remember where I was or what I was doing when I read Slaughterhouse 5. What I do remember is that somewhere around page 30, I realised that I had no idea what was going on or what the book was about.
I put it down and have never looked at it since!
3. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
In fairness, this one started off well â I took it with me on a work trip to Stavanger in 2018, and devoured the first few chapters quickly. But there was no movement in the plot and I quickly realised that each evening, the same events were going to happen. Settling down each night in my hotel room, I would have no idea in what order events were taking place, I would wonder if Iâd missed something important, and the main character would begin to irritate me after about 10 minutes.
I persevered until about halfway through, before I couldnât take it anymore and found something else to read instead.
4. Moby Dick by Herman Melville
I tried. I really did.
I read this at the close of 2019, at the beginning of a long period of illness. At the time, I wasnât sleeping or eating very well, and my mind was heavy with worries. I tried my best to focus my mind on the exciting tale of Captain Ahab and his quest to kill the whale, Moby Dick, but I just couldnât do it. There was simply no room in my brain for such a complex and intricate novel. Of course, I didnât realise this at the time, and I became angry with myself for failing to grasp the language or the plot.
Perhaps now that my brain is back to full capacity, I will revisit Moby Dick and give it another go.
5. Every text on the Medieval Literature module of Newcastle Universityâs BA English Literature course
Yes, you read that correctly.
I have never struggled with so many books as I did on the unfortunate occasion I chose to study Medieval Literature at university. Reading them back to back was an absolutely Herculean task. I struggled with the intricacy of the language, the themes, the plots, and even the online study notes were not helpful.
In my defence, at the time I was also working nearly 30 hours per week, struggling to support myself and in an unhappy relationship that I didnât know how to end. Unfortunately, I didnât have space in my brain to also decipher The Canterbury Tales, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Morte DâArthur. I still have no idea how I managed to pass the module!
What are some books you couldnât finish?

SENTENCE MEME ⶠSINGLE PARENTS / 1.11 â 1.12 always feel free to tweak the sentence to fit your muse.
[Cut for length.]
âAnd those are the ten best fruits.â
âI canât take it anymore. Whatâs up with the suit?â
âI ran into them at the store, while I was right in the middle of a free sample of crumb cake.â
âWhat are you, a private detective?â
âIâve just been more willing to put myself out there.â
âWow, Iâm really proud of you.â
âThere is no live audience for local news.â
âMy dad skills are on-point.â
âWhen you experience zazz, youâll know it in your bones. And your butt.â
âUh. Something happened. Is it noticeable?â
âThis feels more like a cover-up than a wipe-off.â
âA bad picture can haunt you an entire year.â
âIâm a lost cause, but you still have time.â
âTell me who did this. I promise Iâll be cool.â
âIâll kill them!â
âI canât do it tonight. I mean, technically I could I just donât want to.â
âHis day is ruined! And not to be an alarmist, but maybe his life.â
âYou gotta admit, itâs hilarious.â
âHis face looks like the side of a bathroom stall.â
âApologies are for the weak.â
âSo in the future when a self-driving car is president and the robots figured out that the only thing they need from us is teeth, at least these two will be able to handle themselves.â
âWhat the hell are you doing?â
âIf you refuse to civilize them, Iâll do it myself.â
âGood luck getting an apology. Maybe after that you can push back the ocean or wrestle the wind.â
âYouâve been lulled into a California complacency like a tan baby eating an avocado.â
âHereâs a weather report: that audition was a natural disaster.â
âThis whole bowl of popcorn could be yours if you could just apologize.â
âI was trying to be edgy.â
âI love that youâre going after your dream.â
âIâll take that comparison as a compliment.â
âIâll take you from hateable to relatable.â
âI hope youâre happy. You made me abandon my principles.â
âIt took four hours using questionable tactics, but I did it.â
âThe bangs were a mistake.â
âAre you done with the mustache jokes?â
âTheyâre helpless and Iâm done trying to help.â
âMess with me, fine. But no one messes with [name]!â
âBeing a jerk is not a survival skill.â
âHeâs your friend, even though heâs whiny and weird.â
âBeing angry is exhausting.â
âI havenât said sorry since 1998.â
âThatâs a start, and you have to start somewhere.â
âIt could be boring, but itâs not with you. You make it fun and interesting and weird.â
âDid you just double blindfold me?â
âYou must be [name]. What a wonderful face.â
âI feel like Iâm crying.â
âGet a hold of yourself.â
âIâm always curious to know what goes on at these âgirls nightsâ. What do you do? Eat yogurt and tickle each other?â
âDid you know that photos could be on paper?â
âNever give away anything unless youâre getting something back.â
âNobody likes a kiss-ass.â
âI love these so much, I got adult-baptized in them.â
âThe joy of giving lasted five seconds!â
âIâll fall for that, but only because I love you.â
âWithout riles, social order falls into chaos.â
âGet in here, bitch!â
âI bet youâre really annoying on vacation.â
âEvery time I see her face, I just wanna yell.â
âIâm like Gwyneth Paltrow if she had a baby with Gwyneth Paltrow.â
âI know that look. You two dummies did something good, didnât you?â
âYouâre like the closest thing we have to Liam Neeson.â
âIâm not gonna come to your rescue, but what I am gonna do is teach you a life lesson because youâre both emotionally seven years old.â
âYou did something nice, but it was a dumb accident.â
âWhy does my mouth taste like pennies?â
âCan I interest you in a thousand hugs?â
âThat gutted feeling? Youâll get over it.â
âI just go along with it because it makes her feel good.â
âYou canât just show up here and undermine everything I do.â
âI hate that I make you feel like what you do isnât important.â
âNow go be a man and get your shoes back.â
âYouâre a very scary woman.â
âYouâre the strongest person I know.â
âThis conversation has already gone on longer than I care for.â

Cab you do a defender strange and reader.
Reader is sick with a cold unknown to strange since he is extremely busy. Continues to help everyone and everything even though everyone tells her to go rest. She ends up passing out in front of strange who in turn flips the fuck out. Little fluff as he takes time off for once to care of her.
@strangesgirl
Sure!
You had been sick for the past four days. You followed your doctorâs orders but they told you it would take another week until you get better. You had pushed yourself too much when you were trying to organize some of the books in the library. You passed out and Stephen had found you on the floor. He carried you to the bedroom and tucked you in.Â
You woke up and saw Stephen gently pressing a cold towel to your forehead. âHello.â You said softly.Â
âWhen were you going to tell me?â Stephen said sternly.Â
âI tried to but you were busy then I just let it go...âÂ
âI...Iâm sorry.â Stephen frowned.Â
âNo, baby, itâs okay.âÂ
âItâs not. Rest, Iâll be right back.â Stephen kissed your hand and left. He came back after an hour with a tray. On the tray was soup, bread, cold towels, water and tea. He set it down on the nightstand. He sat on the edge of the bed and pressed another towel to your head. âRest, my goddess, I will take care of you and then I want to take you somewhere special, wherever you want.â Stephen held your hands in his and kissed your knuckles.Â
âStephen...Youâre so sweet...Donât feel bad, itâs okay. Youâre the sorcerer supreme.â You said softly.Â
âNo. I will. Because youâre my beloved and I am doing a poor job at showing you that.â Stephen moved to give you some water.Â
You took a sip of the water and gently stroked his hands. You wanted to embrace him but you were worried too much contact would make him sick. âLove, please, Iâm not worried. I know you love me.â You smiled softly.
Stephen looked at you softly and nodded, âVery well, my goddess, but you have me all to yourself for two weeks. So as soon as you feel better I want to worship you.â

The Love Among Us
Chapter 1-- Iâd Never Snitch On Daddy
so i havenât seen many corpse husband x reader stories on here, so i decided to upload one myself. iâve been watching jacksepticeyeâs among us videos and when i heard corpse talk for the first time, i was like, âhol upâ and now iâve been obsessed with him. also, go stream his music on spotify, itâs amazing. enjoy! x.Â
 corpse husband x female!reader
summary: while playing among us, y/n watches corpse kill felix in o2. when his body is reported, however, she doesnât tell who killed him.Â
 word count: ~3.6k
warnings: swearing, mentions of death (not real death), mentions of murder (not real murder)
EDIT: before i wrote this and after i published it, i did not know that corpse did not like to be referred to as âdaddyâ. had i known this, i would have not even thought of posting this. and since i know now, i wonât refer to him as such in the future. thank you. (10/19/2020)
EDIT 2: this is the first part to my corpse x reader series. i will be adding chapters as we go!
next>
4 rounds before the incident
âI was in coms with PJ!â Sean exclaims.Â
âHe is doing the liar voice!â Felix shouts with a laugh.Â
âIâm not,â Sean tries to say, but everyone talks over him and the voting time ends. Everyone left alive, though it was only four people, had all voted for him and he yells at them as he gets ejected.Â
stinky was not the imposter
2 imposters remain
The round ends and everyone unmutes themselves.Â
âLizzie, you saw Felix kill me and you did nothing!â Roomie yells as soon as the round ends and the imposters are revealed.Â
âYeah, because I was the other imposter.â
âOh. Okay, well that makes sense.â
Everyone laughs and Ken starts the round again.Â
âWait, can I invite y/n to play? Sheâs doing her twenty-four-hour stream and she just finished playing Monopoly with Mark, Bob, and Wade,â says Lizzie, looking down at her phone as they all appear back in the waiting room.Â
âYes,â Corpse blurts out and there are a few laughs and chuckles.Â
âYou were quick to answer, Corpse,â Sean teases.Â
âShut up,â Corpse mumbles and there are even more laughs.Â
Lizzie smiles and taps into her phone. âIâm gonna invite her.â
~
âI canât believe that you actually made that deal, y/n,â Wade is telling you after ending the second round of Monopoly that youâve played with them.Â
You smile and cross your legs on your chair. âLook, I was going bankrupt and it seemed good at the time. Besides, Mark was going to win anyway, he owned half of the board.â Your phone buzzes beside you on your desk and you pick it up. âLizzie texted me.â Thereâs a sound effect that plays in your headset and you look up at your screen and smile. âThanks to _lorieplays _for donating a hundred dollars, that means a lot. Thank you so much.â
âDo you want to play another round?â Marks asks.Â
You shake your head, reading the text from your friend in England. âNo, I donât want to lose to you again.â You laugh. âNah, Lizzie wants me to play Among Us with her and a few others. It was fun playing with you guys.â
âIt was even though you took all of my money,â Bob snaps.Â
You laugh. âYeah, yeah. See you guys later.â
âBye,â says Mark.
âSee y--â Wade begins but you cut him off when you disconnect from the call.Â
âOops.â You put a hand over your mouth and laugh. âSorry, Wade. Okay.â You straighten up and glance over everything, making sure itâs all working properly. âI have to pee and I think my roommate ordered pizza, so weâll be back after this short break. Enjoy this live feed of my pet rats.â You giggle and switch the stream over to a view of your two rats in their cage where you have a camera set up. You take your headset off and head out of your recording room.Â
Every two months, you have a twenty-four-hour livestream where you play games with your friends from all around the world. Despite being only twenty-five, your Youtube channel had grown exponentially in the past three years and youâve had the chance to meet lots of other Youtubers like Markiplier, PewDiePie, and your close friend, LDShadowLady.Â
Currently, youâre on hour twenty of twenty-four and youâre beginning to feel the effects of not sleeping for a whole day. You had been drinking coffee and energy drinks for the past four hours and that seemed to perk you up for two hours max. But your roommate had ordered pizza and that would hopefully wake you up.Â
After going to the bathroom and grabbing an entire box of pizza, you return to your recording room and sit down. You put your headset back on and eat a slice of pizza before switching the views back to you. âAnd weâre back. I hope you guys enjoyed my rats because I donât. They keep me up at night.â
You read a comment while loading up Among Us and laugh. âNo, theyâre not dead. Theyâre sleeping. They do that a lot when theyâre not fighting.âÂ
When you finally get into the game and entire the code, you spawn in. You also quickly join the Discord chat and wince when nearly ten voices hit you at once.Â
ây/n!â exclaims Lizzie and the other voices die down for a moment before rising to greet you.Â
You wince again but laugh. âJesus, you guys are loud. Hey, Lizzie.â You move your character to the customize tab and go to try and switch your color. But then you frown and realize that youâre stuck with being dark blue. âDamn, I wanted to be white.â
âDo you want to switch?â Corpse asks.Â
Your eyes widen you your stomach flips. You hadnât noticed Corpse was in this game. Immediately, your chat became flooded with keyboard smashing and lots of âomg my shippâ and ây/n rlly said âanna oop-ââÂ
âUh, yeah, if you donât mind,â you manage to stutter out and take a bite of pizza as Corpseâs player comes over and the white option becomes available. You select it and also select the goggles in the hats menu.Â
âHowâs your stream going?â asks Sean.Â
You shrug. âPretty good. Iâm super tired, though. I literally almost fell asleep while playing Monopoly with Mark, Wade, and Bob.â
âYou went to college, right?â Youâre pretty sure thatâs Roomie.Â
âYep,â you affirm with a nod even though they canât see you. âYouâd think that those all-nighters writing papers and studying for finals would make me able to do this.â
Thereâs a laugh in the group and the round starts.
3 rounds before the incident
You scratch your eyebrow and sigh in relief when youâre the crewmate. You mute yourself and slide up in your chair.Â
âI like being the crewmate,â you say, heading towards admin as a habit. âItâs a lot less stressful than being imposter.â
After doing your tasks in admin and fueling the engines, you stumble across a dead body in the lower engine and a vent closing.Â
âOh,â you say, and press the report button. You unmute yourself and begin with, âSo I saw a vent close but I didnât see who went in.â
âWho died?â asks Lizzie.Â
âFelix,â says Sean.Â
You smirk. âItâs always yellow that dies first.â
âWhere was the body?â Ken asks.Â
âLower engine,â you reply.Â
âI was in medbay with Corpse doing the scan so it wasnât him,â PJ says and Corpse makes a noise of confirmation.Â
This makes your cheeks heat up and you smack a hand over your mouth. Your chat explodes again but you decide to ignore it.Â
âAnd I was doing wires in cafeteria,â Lizzie says.Â
âSean, where were you?âÂ
âI was in reactor doing the simon says thing,â he answers.Â
You sigh. âI hate that one. What about you, Ken?â
âI was with Roomie in electrical doing the power thing. You know, the one where you have to divert it somewhere else.â
âSo do we skip then?â asks Lizzie.Â
âNo one is super sus, so Iâm going to skip,â you answer.Â
When no one is ejected, you mute yourself again. âI dunno why, but Sean seems pretty sus. Because I didnât see him on the way down from upper engine. But I guess he could have gotten there in time.â You shrug and run over to the trash chute in the cafeteria. âRIP to Felix, though.â
After doing the trash there, you head down to storage, running into Corpse doing the wires in there. You wait there to clear him and once you do, you run a few circles around him to get his attention and he follows you over to the trash in storage and watches you do that. After that, the two of you head over to electric together and do wires there.Â
Suddenly, thereâs a body reported and you unmute yourself.Â
âSean just killed Lizzie in front of me!â exclaims PJ.Â
âPJ killed Lizzie,â Sean retorts, flipping the blame. âI watched it, he didnât realize I was there and murdered her.â
âI watched PJ do the scan in medbay, heâs cleared,â Corpse says and you find yourself smiling for no reason. âSean, you killed Lizzie.â
âI knew he was sus,â you say, grabbing another piece of pizza. You look at the box and your eyes widen. Had you really already eaten half of it?
âWait wait, how am I sus?â Sean asks.Â
You take a moment to swallow. âBecause when I was doing fuel earlier, I was running down from upper engine and didnât see you in reactor. Sure, maybe you could have gotten there earlier, but it was super weird.âÂ
The discussion time ends and PJ immediately goes to vote for Sean as well as you, Corpse, and everyone else still alive. Sean ends up getting ejected.Â
stinky was an imposterÂ
1 imposter remains
âYouâre such a detective, y/n,â Sean says when he gets ejected.Â
You laugh. âI just play this game too much.â You then mute yourself and smile. âI am a genius.âÂ
You end up finishing your tasks quickly after that and then stand in the cafeteria and eat another piece of pizza and read some of the chat.Â
ââ What am I going to do after this?â I donât know. I might play some Minecraft. Should I have a poll on Twitter? Iâm stuck between public Among Us games, Minecraft, and taking random quizzes on Buzzfeed.â You smile and hear another sound effect and something pops up on the screen. âThank you to coochie man for donating a hundred dollars, that means a lot.â You laugh at their name. âI love your name, by the way.âÂ
Thereâs some rattling in the cage behind you and you turn around to see one of your rats drinking water. You turn back to the chat and read another comment. ââ Do you have a crush on Corpse?ââ You blush and smile, biting your lip. âI mean, his voice is hot. Iâve never met him since he lives in San Diego and I live in h/t, but yeah, I guess I do. Iâve been listening to his music for the past few days and itâs really good, you guys should go check it out.â
You look up and unmute yourself when a body is reported. âWho died?â you ask. âI wasnât paying attention.â
âAre you already done with your tasks, y/n?â Corpse asks.Â
God, even the way he says your name is making you blush. âYeah, I get them done quick.â
âShe does that,â says Lizzie, âShe always gets her tasks done quick.â
âKen is dead by the way,â says Roomie and your snort, smacking a hand over your mouth. âI found him in the hallway by navigation. Where was everyone else?â
âI was in cafeteria doing nothing,â you say, leaning back in your chair and spinning around just a little. âI think I saw PJ downloading while I was in there, but I wasnât paying attention.â
âYeah, I was downloading,â says Ken.Â
After more discussion, Corpse points out that Jaiden had been following him and it looked like she had been faking tasks.Â
âNo I havenât,â she says.Â
âThat sounds like something the imposter would say,â you hum with a smirk. âThatâs pretty sus, Jaiden.â
Everyone else agrees and you all end up voting Jaiden out.Â
jaiden was the imposter
0 imposters remain
You cheer as the round ends and a blue victory screen pops up for the crewmates. âGood game, guys,â you say and play again, waiting for the host.Â
~
1 round before the incidentÂ
âOh my god, Iâm imposter again?â you groan and sigh when you spawn back in. âI was just imposter, I donât want to be it again. Iâm so bad at it,â
After another short round of you and Felix losing to the crewmates, you all agreed to play two more rounds before Sean had to leave. So you move your character to admin where PJ is and fake the card swipe before moving over to the admin security thing where you could see who was around where. Luckily, no one appeared to be near admin, so you quickly kill PJ and escape through the vent and come out through medbay.Â
âOh my god, oh my god, oh my god,â you whisper over and over, running down to storage. âThat was clean.â You fake getting fuel and go back up to the upper engine.Â
When PJâs body is reported, you see that your fellow imposter, Sean, had reported it. You stay silent for most of the round and only say that you were in the fuel area when it was reported.Â
âYeah, I saw her run past electrical earlier,â Corpse says. You blush and glance at your exploding chat and shake your head.Â
After everyone skips the round, you mute yourself once more and head towards navigation. âI hate this.â You drag the last syllable and watch Lizzie enter the room. You wait a moment before walking towards her and killing her, jumping into one of the vents. You let out a sigh and flex your fingers. âIâm so stressed.â You exit out of the vent into shields and your heart stops when you see someone else in there but you realize that itâs the other imposter, Sean, and you relax.Â
You run past him and go to the trash compartments and pretend to unload those. And thatâs how the rest of the round goes. You kill someone, someone reports it and you vote someone off. Eventually, you and Sean do a double kill and end up winning the round.
You unmute yourself.Â
âLetâs go!â Sean exclaims and you smile.Â
âI canât believe you killed me, y/n!â shouts Lizzie. âI thought we were friends.â
You laugh. âThere are no friends in this game. Iâm not loyal to anyone in this game. You could be my best friend and I would fucking murder you.â
âThatâs cold,â says Roomie as everyone else spawns back in.Â
âYeah,â you nod.Â
âWait, PJ disconnected,â says Sean, and you all end up waiting for him to rejoin.Â
In that time, you look at your chat and say, âHey, do you guys have any questions for who Iâm playing with. Iâm asking you, chat.â
âI swear if someone asks about my hands, Iâm leaving,â Corpse says and everyone laughs.Â
You laugh louder when you read a comment and read it aloud, â_Ironlady _says that you should be a hand model, Corpse.â
âOkay, Iâm leaving,â you hear Corpse say over everyone laughing.Â
âNo, stay!â you exclaim, trying not to laugh. âCâmon, donât leave.â
He sighs deeply and your brain goes fuzzy. âFine. Iâll stay for you.â
You beam and your tummy turns. You ignore the whistles and remarks from everyone else and stand beside Corpse. You suddenly wish that the little bean characters could hold hands.Â
When PJ joins the server again, Ken starts the round and you cross your fingers, hoping to get crewmate.Â
0 rounds before the incident
You mute yourself and sigh when youâre a crewmate. âThank god.â You let out a breath and go over to admin with everyone else. You swipe your card and go to the cafeteria to do some wires there.Â
The game turns out to be rather uneventful. A few people die and two people are voted off before the game gets truly interesting. And that happens when you walk in on Corpse and Felix.Â
âIâve had this song stuck in my head for days,â youâre saying, walking from electrical over to O2. âAnd I canât get it out of my head. Maybe singing it will help.â You hum the first part. âDon't go in there, you'll become one. Freaky creatures, monster party. Eyes of yellow, scales and feathers, tails in tethers. Turn the lights off. Bend the nightmare, you control it. Artful dodger, easy does it. Shut the closet, get under the covers. Snakes and lovers. Turn the lights off.â You do a little dance for a moment and continue hum the song, glancing at the chat as you go towards O2 after doing wires in storage.Â
âLike, I know the song, itâs just been stuck in my head,â you explain. âAnd it kind of annoys me--â
But you stop as you enter O2 and watch Corpse murder Felix. Neither one of you move and you donât know what to do. âUhhh.âÂ
Then, without thinking, you turn straight around and make your way away from the scene of the murder. âI didnât see anything!â you shout to no one. âI suddenly canât see who murdered Felix.â You smack a hand over your mouth and stand in the middle of a hallway. âOh my god, what do I do? I donât want to snitch on Corpse, heâs hot.â You scratch the back of your neck and shrug, continuing on to reactor. âI didnât see anything.â
Youâre in the middle of doing the simon says in reactor when Felixâs body is reported. You unmute yourself and fidget with the sleeve of your hoodie. You know exactly who killed Felix.Â
â--was in O2,â says Jaiden and you focus back into the conversation. âAnd I didnât see anyone around.â
âI saw you heading that way, y/n, but I know it wasnât you because I saw you do the trash in storage.â
You look at the screen when Sean talks to you and you chew your lip. âI know who killed Felix.â
âWho?â asks almost everyone at the same time.Â
You close your eyes and swallow. Itâs just a game, why are you taking this so seriously? Suddenly, a song lyric pops into your head and your stomach flips. You imagine yourself saying it and no one knows who you mean except for him.Â
You open your eyes. âIâd never snitch on daddy.â
Thereâs a laugh in the chat and you blush fiercely, your livestream chat blowing up once again.
âI think we know who it is, then,â says Sean, laughing.Â
âYeah,â agrees Lizzie and your eyes widen.Â
âWait, what?â you ask, watching everyone vote almost as soon as the discussion time ends. âWait, hang on, who--â
âWe know who youâre talking about, y/n,â PJ tells you.Â
You vote for yourself and your brain goes blank as you see that everyone voted for Corpse. He even voted for himself. They knew. They all _knew _about your feelings for Corpse.Â
The round ends with Corpse being voted out and the crewmates win. Thereâs some talking, but you stay on the victory screen. Youâre trying to decide if your mad or embarrassed or both.Â
âI didnât know youâd say that, y/n,â Corpse says, effectively breaking you out of your trance. âI thought you were gonna snitch on me.â
âYou heard her,â teases Lizzie and you can tell sheâs grinning. âSheâd never snitch on you, Corpse.â
He laughs and you feel something in a certain place. âOh my god, Iâm gonna die of embarrassment.â You put your face in your hands, listening to your friends tease you in the chat. You suddenly want to jump out your window and run into traffic.Â
âDonât die,â comes Corpseâs voice through the onslaught of teasing. âIâll be sad.â
âFuck!â you shout and slam your hand on your desk, shaking your equipment and scaring your rats. âIâm so sorry, Corpse, that was really weird, I--â
âStop.â He interrupts you and the chat goes silent and you look up at the screen even though you canât see him. âItâs okay. It was funny.â
Your eyes widen and then narrow. Funny? He thought what you said was funny? How could he think it was funny?
But then he speaks again and he sounds oddly flustered. âUh, I gotta go. Um, it was fun playing with you guys. Bye, y/n.â
âBye Cor--â but then he disconnects and youâre left talking to no one. â--pse.â
Thereâs a long moment of silence until Felix breaks it. âI canât believe you just watched me die and didnât do anything about it.â
There are some laughs and you smile faintly, rejoining the game. âYeah, uh, sorry about that.â
âAre you okay, y/n?â asks Lizzie.Â
You blush and swallow. âI donât know. God, Iâm so weird.â You run a hand through your hair and adjust your headphones
âNo, youâre not,â Roomie assures you. âHe has a crush on you, too.â
Your eyes widen and you scoot up in your chair. âHe does?â
âI mean, he called you pretty once during a game and said that he watches your videos a lot, so maybe.â
You groan and sink in your chair. âIâm gonna go, I need to run into traffic now.â
A few people laugh or chuckle and Lizzie asks you if youâre actually going to leave.Â
âYeah,â you tell her. âBut not to run into traffic. Iâm going to go play Minecraft to soothe myself.â
âAw.â You can practically hear her frown. âOkay. Bye, y/n.â
âGood luck with your stream,â Ken tells you.Â
You grin. âOkay, thanks, bye.â
When you exit the game and leave the chat, you scream. You actually scream and itâs loud. Your roommate even knocks on your door, asking if youâre okay.Â
You look at them and nod. âYeah, totally fine. Probably about to have a mental breakdown, but Iâm fine.â
âOkay,â they say and lean on the doorframe. âBut Iâm not cutting bangs for you again.â
You laugh and nod. âYeah, okay, fine.â They leave and you turn back to your stream, feeling like youâre about to cry. Corpse knows you have a crush on him. And it seems like he has one on you as well, but now youâre embarrassed because you called him âdaddyâ on stream.
You rub your eyes. âWell, now I know whatâll be streaming on Twitter tonight,â you tell the chat.Â

warnings:Â angst, crying, cheating, oral (fem receiving), unprotected sex.
a/n:Â i am going to make a part two because i want to explore this more. also, thank you so much for almost 500 notes on my first one shot! enjoy :)
The love of your life was getting married and it wasnât to you. When you heard the news, you laughed out loud, a bit too loud for being in a quaint cafe. You thought that the girl Sebastian was dating was going to be nothing more than a rebound from you, even when you heard the news that they were engaged, you thought that it wasnât serious. But now itâs the day before their wedding and youâre pretty sure sheâs not a rebound anymore.
You wish you didnât know what day the wedding was, but you did because you were invited. Sebastian invited you. What kind of asshole would do something like that? You know he saw it as taking the high road, being a bigger person, but it just came off as a pretentious douche bag move to show that he could be happy too. Without you. And how did this get past his fiance, Lauren? Did she want you to come?
You planned on not attending because why the fuck would you want to go? But then your friend, Emerson, talked you into it. âItâs in Hawaii,â âItâll show him that you can still be friends,â âRub it in their faces that you donât care anymore.â They were all very shitty reasonings but you were drunk when you RSVPâd and even drunker when you booked the plane ticket. You had been drinking a lot in the weeks leading up to the wedding, it was the only thing that made all the nerves go away. You promised yourself that you would stop drinking so much after they were married and you intended on keeping that promise.
You had been trying your best to stay as far away from Sebastian as possible in the three-day period leading up to the wedding. It had been working well so far, until tonight. You and Emerson decided to go to a nightclub away from the resort you were staying at because you heard that thatâs where the bachelor party was being held. Much to your surprise, that was false information. Now youâre starring at Sebastian from across the room with eyes wide and a jaw down to the floor.
âI thought you said they were gonna be at the resort!â You yelled at Emerson over the loud music.
âThatâs what the bridesmaids told me,â she defended. âBut it doesnât even matter, we came out to have a good night. Fuck him! You can be nice tomorrow.â
You quickly started to regret every single one of your decisions you had made in the past three months. Accepting the invitation, booking the plane ticket, and leaving your hotel room tonight. You knew you shouldnât be here but you were and you hated it.
âThis was a mistake. Iâm booking a plane ticket and Iâm going back home. Tonight.â
âWhat?! You canât do that.â
âThe hell I canât.â You grabbed your phone from your purse only to get it grabbed from your hand and shoved into Emersonâs pocket. âWhat the hell!â
âYouâre not just going to leave.â
âWhy not?â
âItâs been two years, y/n. You have been telling me that youâre finally over him for a year, thatâs why weâre even here, right? Because youâre over him?â
You took in a shaky breath. No, you werenât over him. You knew you should be, but you werenât. You thought seeing him say âI doâ would force you into moving on, finally letting him go. Now, you wanted to slap yourself for being so stupid.
âYes,â you lie despite yourself.
âGood, so letâs go get you a drink and a hot piece of ass! And in the morning weâre going to watch as he gets married and youâre going to finally let go of him, okay?â
âOkay,â you nod.
You had to get over him, it had been two years. This was the way to do it. You would force yourself to let him go and be happy. That would make you happy ⊠right?
You and Emerson walked to the bar, ordering shot after shot until you were dizzy. Then you ordered a long island ice tea which you did not need. After you basically chugged the drink, you made your way to the dance floor.
You changed from grinding on Emerson to random individuals and you couldnât have cared less. Everything about tomorrow and moving on left your mind completely. Right now you were living in the moment, something you were always working to do. You could tell that the individual dancing behind you hadnât switched for four songs, so you decided to turn around. You were hoping for it to be someone cute and nice. Someone to take you somewhere and fuck the worries away. Instead, it was Sebastian.
Your smile faded and so did his. You went still, your eyes trained on his. It felt weird to be the only people in the crowd not moving. You had lost all sense of anything, you didnât know if you stood like that for seconds or for hours.
Something in your jumbled thoughts forced you to speak. âHi.â
âHi,â he yelled back. His face was unreadable at that moment, you blamed it on the alcohol but you werenât sure if you could have deciphered what it meant even if you were sober. âI havenât seen you in a while.â
âYeah, a few months, I think.â You were sure, it had been four months prior, right before you heard about the engagement. You ran into each other at a red carpet event and you tried your best to act normal.
âDo you ⊠uhâdo you want to go get a drink?â
You stood still again, silent. Your brain needed a minute to process the request. You definitely did not need another drink. âSure.â
You followed behind Sebastian to the bar, a trip you had made with Emerson no less than an hour ago. He ordered himself a Screwdriver and you a Sex on the Beach, your favorite. You had both sucked down half of your drinks before either of you spoke.
âHow are you?â He asked.
âFine, I guess,â you replied. âHow are you?â
âGood, good, really good.â
âThatâs good.â
It went quiet again and even though the music all around you was blaring, it sounded only like white noise at this point. A thought came into your mind âtell him how you feel.â In a sober state, you would have shut down the thought immediately, but now it played on a loop. The chant continued to play in your head as you finished the last of your drink. You felt the tension in your body rise from your feet to the pit of your stomach, up past your throat, and to your head, making you dizzy.
âCan I tell you something?â You blurted out.
âSure.â
âItâs loud in here.â
Sebastian chuckled, almost in relief. âIs that what you wanted to tell me?â
âNo,â you said, too unaware to get how cringe-worthy you were being. âCan we go somewhere, uh, quieter?â
He nodded and you took his hand and went to go find a secluded location. You werenât going to be that asshole who jammed the bathroom door shut. Also, you were pretty sure youâd get kicked out if you did that. It took a few minutes but you finally landed your sights on a room. The door was unlocked and you realized it was a coat closet, so you picked it as your location. You closed the door before turning back to Sebastian.
The music was quieter in here, it was muffled and far away. It smelled vaguely of cigarettes but you didnât mind too much, it was dull.
âWhat did you want to tell me?â Sebastian asked, voice louder than it needed to be due to how unexpectedly quiet it was.
This was it, your one time to speak your mind. You might never get another situation like this ever again. You needed to let it all out.
âI donât think Iâm over you,â you confess. âAnd I really donât know if I will ever be. I know itâs been two years and youâre getting married tomorrow, but Iâm still not over you. Iâve been telling myself that when I see you at that alter tomorrow, everything is magically going to go away, but I donât know if it will.â
âWhy are you telling me this, y/n?â
âBecause this is the one-shot Iâm gonna get. Youâre getting married tomorrow morning and you need to know this. Well, actually, you probably donât, but I need to tell you. I need to let it out or otherwise, I think I might actually fucking explode.â You took a deep breath before the words started pouring out again. âWhen I heard you were engaged I laughed. It was funny that you were getting this poor girlâs hopes up when we all knew that you were just going to call it off. But you never did, and I was the only one laughing. Iâm pretty sure that you were my person. And I think the only reason I accepted that we were done was because I didnât think we were actually done. I thought you were gonna come back to me. I thought one day we would look back on this and laugh because it was so stupid.â
As you talked, your throat began to feel sore, your eyes stung from the tears forcing their way down your cheeks.
âIâm sorry about everything. I should have fought for us when we had the chance and I should give up right now andââ
Sebastian cut you off by cupping your face and wiping the tears away. âHey, hey, hey,â he cooed softly, pulling you into him. You buried your face in his chest as he softly rubbed the back of your head. âItâs okay, youâre okay.â
His sweet tone made you cry harder. You wished he would have been mean. You wish he told you to get over it and move on. But he was sweet and consoling you because thatâs the type of guy he was. He was the girl who consoled his ex-girlfriend on the night before his wedding. Thatâs the kind of guy girls want to marry, thatâs the kind of guy you should have married. At least if he was an asshole, it would have easier to move on. No one gets hung up on the asshole, they get hung up over the good guy.
You pulled away from him, wiping the tears away with the back of your hand.
âDo you still love me?â
âY/nâŠâ he sighed.
âTell me you donât. God, please tell me you donât. Tell me that you moved on and that you love her. Could you tell me that? Tell me that you never think twice about me and that you only invited me to your wedding because you honestly think we can be just friends. I need you to tell me you still donât care. If you tell me that, Iâll walk out the door right now and you donât ever have to see me again. Iâll wish you good luck on your marriage and Iâll be gone. Can you just tell me that? I really need you to tell me that.â
You looked up to him with pleading, puppy dog eyes. You wanted himâyou needed him to tell you that it was never going to happen. You needed closure to move on.
âI-I canât,â he confessed. âNot honestly.â
You let out a breath you were holding before pulling him closer. You kissed him deeply and passionately, you needed him. He pulled you closer, melting into your mouth. This was it, this felt right. You didnât think about the repercussions, you couldnât. All you could think about was his mouth on yours, his hands on your skin.
He backed you up so your back was flat against the door. The hand that wasnât pulling you closer by the hip locked the door. He hoisted you up, seemingly with no effort as you wrapped your legs around his waist. You made haste with his button-up as he started to push your dress up your thighs. You stayed like that for a while, tugging, kissing.
After a while, Sebastian put you down. This made you nervous, was he going to leave you here? Was the kiss just one dumb, hot mistake?
Instead of walking away, he knelt down in front of you. He grabbed your panties and pulled them down your legs. You looked down at him and let out a moan at the sight of him; lips read and raw from kissing, eyes blown out with lust. He hiked your right leg over his shoulder before looking up at you, asking you if you wanted him to continue. You nodded aggressively, letting out a few whines of anticipation.
He dived in, sending you into a state of euphoria. You pressed your head against the door as your hands tugged at his jet black hair. You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth, trying your best to keep in whatever moans he coaxed out of you. You felt you were nearing your high, but he pulled away before you could get there.
You let out a cry at the loss of contact. You tryed your best to pull him back to you, but he instead pushed your hands away, pinning your wrists against the door. He stood back up, form towering over your own.
âYouâre so fuckinâ needy,â Sebastian stated, voice low and raspy. He undid his pants before hosting you up against the door again. He pumped his member before putting the tip at your entrance, teasing you. âAre you sure?â
You nodded, pulling him closer by his shoulders. âPlease, fuckinâ need you.â
With that, he pushed in, both of you letting out loud wanton moans. You forgot what is was like to be with him. He was on the bigger end of the men youâd been with and he was by far the best. As he thrusted into you, you started to realize how much you missed him every sense of the word. You missed the way he would kiss you in the morning, you missed the way he said he loved you in the middle of a fight, and you missed the way he grunted in your ear when you would have sex.
You both held each other close as he continued to snap his hips against yours. One of his hands reached down to rub your clit, making you let out another moan. You knew you were close again and you wondered how you could finish so fast when you were with him.
âIâm so close,â you warned.
âI know baby,â he cooed. âWanna watch you.â
You leaned your head back so you could now see each others faces. He admired how you looked all fucked out and needy. He loved how your eye brows knitted together when you were trying not to cum and he loved the way you bit your lip every time he stared into your eyes. And he loved you.
âI love you, y/n,â he accidentally said, thoughts slipping into words.
Your eyes went wide but you couldnât help but smile. âFuck, I love you too, Seb.â
The confession brought you closer to your high and before you knew it, you were clutching his shirt in your hands as your legs cleanched around his waist. You both moaned loudly as you came, holding each other as close as possible. You stayed against the door, holding onto him tightly for a while. Then he slipped out of you and set you back down on shaky legs.
âDid you mean it?â You asked after minutes of staring into his eyes.
He hesitated, âyes.â
âNow what are we gonna do?â

Long Ago (and far away)
Part 7
Not wanting, Severus mused, was so much easier when your hand wasn't tucked into the crook of a very tall and broad gentleman's elbow, and you weren't being gently but firmly led places.Â
For a Saturday, Diagon Alley was thankfully quiet, which he put down mostly to the appalling damp. They'd stopped at Madam Malkin's first. Hers weren't the best quality, but they'd needed quick and serviceable. A bit of a glamor over his face kept her from asking too many prying questions as she made adjustments to a ready-made suit and over robe. And Riddle being charming about lost luggage put paid to questions about him. But now they headed toward the bank, and Severus found himself nervous. If the Goblins took offence, or worse, blamed him...he swallowed down nerves.
"Are you certain you're up to this today?" Riddle asked, voice warm with concern.
"I'd rather get this done today," Severus replied quietly. "I would like to have one day of quiet."
"I am sorry for upsetting your...well, your entire life, really. I did rather drop you in it."Â
Riddle patted his hand where it rested on his arm.
"You are exceedingly lucky I had a headache." Severus answered with some asperity. "I tend to hex first when I'm not half blinded with pain. And I'm lethal."
"As well you should." Riddle chuckled, leading Severus up the broad steps and into the polished marble halls of Gringotts.
They took perhaps four steps into the bank proper before a Goblin approached them. Severus felt the magic of his glamor snap under the wards as the fierce guard regarded them.
"You will follow me." He ordered, turning on his heel and making for the private offices.
Severus and Riddle fell in behind him, and Severus tried not to startle when two guards melted out of the shadows to bring up the rear. Severus allowed Riddle to pull him closer, having a stern word with his ego as the older man settled a hand at the small of his back. Just because he was capable of handling any threats didn't mean he always had to. He supposed.
They were waved into the Head Goblin's office, the two guards taking up residence just inside the doorway as they moved further into the room. Severus had never been in any of the offices before. The dark paneling lining the walls, heavy, velvet draperies over the windows, and deeply plush carpeting combined to deaden almost all sound save the steady scratch of quill on parchment. An elderly Goblin sat behind a massive mahogany desk, head bent over a ledger book.
"I intercepted them, sir." The Goblin leading them bowed at the Head Goblin.
"Good, Hrafgallt. You are dismissed." The Head Goblin finally spoke. "And you two can sit."
He didn't give his name.
Riddle ushered him into one of the padded chairs standing before the desk and then seated himself. Their escort left, followed by the guards. When the door closed, Severus felt a privacy ward snap into place.Â
"Between the two of you, you have created several headaches for me over the past twenty-four hours. I do not care for headaches, gentlemen." He steepled his fingers and regarded them seriously. "Though it seems that both of you are more victim than guilty party. This." He pushed a craggy crystal forward on his blotter. "Is a message crystal. It is much more reliable than leaving a memory. It appeared on my desk yesterday morning. It was recently housed in the Sinclair vault."
Severus thought he'd heard the surname somewhere. Beside him, Riddle stiffened.
"Yes, I see Mr. Riddle recognizes the name. Pierce your finger and swipe it across the base." The Goblin held a pocketknife toward Riddle, handle first.
Severus watched as Riddle took the knife and knicked his forefinger. He let the blood well for a moment before smearing it over the base of the crystal. A flickering figure snapped into view, stepping off the crystal and trailing a glowing thread of magic back to the rock.
"Hello, Da-Thomas, I suppose. Your Auntie Ro wishes me to send her love to you. We didn't get to know you in this incarnation, but Aurora tells me you grew to be a fine man. As the you who existed here is legally considered dead, your situation is perhaps a touch precarious. I wish to offer you adoption. It's not precisely done, but it's what I would have offered had Ro and I found you in our...well, reality, I suppose. It won't change you, but it will give you a name and a family. I hope you will accept this. No matter your decision, you are my heir and you will be cared for. Know that we tried to find you...hold that with you always, dear boy. May the light of your magic guide you always on the right path."
The figure faded away. Severus blinked, casting a sideways glance at Riddle who hadn't moved since the figure stepped off the crystal. Acting instinctively, he rested his hand over Riddle's forearm. Riddle startled then folded Severus' hand between his.
"They were very dear to me, where I came from. I would like to accept Martin Sinclair's offer of adoption." Riddle's voice came quiet and choked when he finally spoke.
"That, of course, makes my life much less difficult. Establishing an identity is tedious in the extreme. Sign here." The Goblin pushed a single sheet of parchment and a quill toward them.
Riddle took the sheet in his free hand and spent several minutes scrutinizing it before he signed. Severus only just quashed his curiosity.
"Congratulations." The flat, perfunctory way the Goblin spoke had Severus biting his lip. "You are now Darius Riddle-Sinclair, head of the Sinclair line. Will you submit to a lineage test?"
"I will, and thank you." Riddle-Sinclair (and didn't that answer why Tom Riddle never seemed to sit gracefully as his name) answered quietly.Â
"It is not for you that I carry out my duty." The Goblin spoke quietly. "Your lineage and the vaults it will open will leave my domain stronger. Pierce your finger and apply seven drops of blood to this parchment. It has been treated."
Severus perked up next to Riddle-Sinclair. He'd had his students brew the potion and test it (one-on-one in his office at scheduled and staggered times) but he'd never seen it in official use. He resisted the temptation to scratch at the edge of the parchment. As much as he wanted to see if he could discern any differences in potion ingredients, he wouldn't disturb the test.Â
Riddle-Sinclair again pierced his finger. Instead of leaving a smear, though, he carefully let seven drops fall. The surface of the parchment rippled like a Pensieve at each drop before it absorbed the blood completely. When the last drop fell, instead of being absorbed, it quickly traced the last generation of a family tree. Lines and names appeared and the parchment grew as it flowed back through the generations; not skipping secondary, tertiary, and even quaternary Houses. When the process concluded, Severus and Riddle-Sinclair leaned over the parchment. They nearly bumped noses with the Goblin.
Severus had never before seen a Goblin look so delighted and never wished to again. It involved a great number of teeth.
"As I had hoped, you are both the blood and Magic-sworn heir to Slytherin. And no connection to House Prince since the late eleventh century, which is always handy." He steepled his fingers and leveled a grave look at them. "I noticed Master Snape arrived under your chaperonage. I would be remiss if I did not warn you that continuing this would prove quite advantageous."
Severus barely smothered a snort. He'd never been an advantage in his life. And he was not thinking about the heir to Slytherin bit. There were only so many shocks one could absorb in a single day. A single weekend? In any case, he'd reached his limit.
"You have chosen," the Goblin continued as if Severus hadn't made a noise, "a young human of intelligence andâŠ" he trailed off, actually taking in Severus' appearance. "He is at least correctly dressed, since you all set so much store by it. And I presume you might have access to one of those hairdressers?"
Severus bit his lip, silently damning his sense of humor. One did not have a fit of the giggles at Gringotts.
"We had agreed on one day only of my chaperonage. Severus has been very accommodating, given that I quite literally appeared in his sitting room." Riddle-Sinclair spoke stiffly, offended on Severus' behalf. "I have no wish of trapping anyone in anything."
"I did not speak of trapping. You would offer him the protection of your name and position, and he could offer you safe navigation through an unfamiliar world. There is no shame in continuing an advantageous match, no matter how it began," the Goblin chided. "There is a contract between you families of some antiquity. It was, thankfully, updated in the early nineteenth century. It's unexceptionable. The Slytherin line would be head of house, but all assets belonging to Master Snape are to remain his own. There are no clauses requiring children. And, of course, a guardianship clause but that's mere social convention."
"I did not speak of shame, but ofâŠ" Riddle-Sinclair stopped and turned to him. "Severus, what is your opinion?"
"If I could be certain that I can fulfill the contract and that I will not be a possession, then I have no objections." He had never even considered he might be in this position one day. "I would consent to you as my head of house."
Even though he'd been presented (had circumscribed his own life with his choices), he'd never expected an offer. Provided he could read a copy of the contract first, he would agree.
"I would never ask you to be anything other than wholly yourself, Severus. And I would never ask for more than you are willing to give." Sinclair-Riddle held his hand tightly, looking deep into his eyes, face grave and earnest.
"I have never considered a...love match. Honestly, I had never considered any match. I'll need to be free to work. I will not desert my Slytherins. And I shudder to think of what would happen to Potions at Hogwarts should I leave at present." Dimly, Severus was aware that his hands had gone ice cold and a sharp tone sounded in his ears. He seemed to be negotiating from very far away from his body.
"I'll never proscribe your work life, unless your work is actively trying to kill you, Severus. You will always be your own person." The steady warmth of his voice slowly thawed Severus' chilled person.
"Then I will seek the shelter of your House, for as long as you wish to give it." Severus felt the nascent bond from the previous evening flare to fullness at his words, the ones he never thought he'd say.
"Only as long as you wish to keep it." Riddle-Sinclair sealed the bond with the old words.
"Wonderful." The Head Goblin broke the moment. "Here is a copy of the contract you just fulfilled. Generally, I recommend one actually reads the text before jumping into anything, but humans can be so precipitate. The clauses you just agreed to were added." He handed a sheet of parchment to each of them. "I also took the liberty yesterday, when the bond initiated, to have a selection of the Slytherin bonding bands brought up from your vault."
Severus stared as he set a tray on the desk and removed the velvet cover. Silver bonding bands sat in the deep green velvet, untarnished by time. Or polished by an enterprising goblin.
"How would you knowâŠ" Riddle-Sinclair trailed off, tracing gentle fingers over the bands.
"There is Old Magic at work here. We were informed, suffice to say. I'll have the appropriate paperwork backdated and filed for you so there will be no hint of your human impropriety, as unrelated house guests are frowned upon for you, are they not, Master Snape? Especially with certain things coming to light, as it were."
Severus felt himself flush. He hadn't even considered that the previous evening. Frankly, it was only his home's location outside the magical realm that saved him from complete ruin. It was likely they would have wound up here, in any case, even without a contract.
"If you could make your selection?" He tapped a finger on his desk, clearly wishing to be rid of them.
Severus really couldn't blame him.
"I'd like to read the contract, first, I think, before we get into bands." Riddle-Sinclair decided.
Severus stared down at the parchment in his hands, barely taking in the words. The only absolutes he could see were reasonable onesâthat Slytherin, as the older house, would take primacy; that the Slytherin party would serve as head of the Family and House; that the Prince party, if they made a curtsey at their presentation would accept guardianship; and that his assets remained solely in his possessionâthat ran in line with upper class magical expectations. It was more politicking and asset protection than anything else, with the addition of social cover for him.
"This is acceptable." He spoke quietly. It would have to be acceptable, in any case. They'd fulfilled it before reading it by binding themselves magically.
He wondered if this happened frequently, or if, perhaps, these ridiculous happenings were only features of his life.
"It is. I confess myself thankful that we had sensible ancestors." Riddle-Sinclair agreed and turned to the tray of bands.
Traditions varied, but most of the Old Families preferred bands to rings for marriages. Bands kept out of the way of wands and, generally, any research one might do. They were also much more difficult to remove by force.
Severus watched as Riddle-Sinclair ghosted his fingers over the tray, stopping at one set of bands. He lifted them out, a simple pair of plain-wrought cuffs, made in the likeness of twining snakes. They clasped with twined tails, two snake heads entwined at the front. Emerald eyes winked in their settings.
"Hmm." The Head Goblin looked up from his parchment when Riddle-Sinclair went looking for discs. "An interesting and fortuitous choice. It is said those were last worn by Salazar Slytherin and his consort."
He held his wrist out to Riddle-Sinclair, letting him clasp the band around his left wrist. For something wrought of metal, it sat warm against his skin. He clasped the matching band around Riddle-Sinclair's right wrist, and felt something flare between them, bright and welcoming, when he clicked the clasp into place. Their magic entwined as the snakes of their bands, thrumming and warm, binding them together fully.
"Now, if you see the teller on your way out, you will receive your vault information. Master Snape, we will be in touch. You may, however, rest assured that you will not be held accountable for the actions of Consort Malfoy."
They both knew a dismissal when they heard one. Severus rose on shaky knees, appreciating the arm Riddle-Sinclair offered.Â
How his life had changed so drastically in three quarters of an hour, he would never quite know.

Damsel in Distress part I
This is a two part Arthur Pendragon x Reader based on the season two episode four of the show. Enjoy! Also you can find more of my writing here: Masterlist
Merlin woke up to a feeling of foreboding. There was something in the air that made his stomach turn with dread. As he prepared to go wake his clotpole of a master, he tried to push this feeling out of the forefront of his mind. But even as he made it down to the kitchen there was this sense of apprehension in the air. He hoped that he would run into you somewhere in the halls and that you would be able to set his mind at ease. He however was not so fortunate.
Instead, he trudged onward, setting Arthurâs food down and opening his curtains before declaring a half-hearted, âRise and Shineâ before quickly gathering some of his clothes to be washed. Arthur didnât even have time to come up with a jest before Merlin was out of the door. Merlin busied himself, quickly polishing Arthurâs armor and completing other daily chores. He mentally prepared himself to deal with the prince as returned to his door.
âAh, there you are, I was beginning to think you were avoiding your duties. And whatâs this?â he asked, watching as Merlin laid everything out, âYouâre actually doing your job for once? Are you feeling alright?â Arthur joked.
His smile soon turned to a frown as Merlin ignored his comments. He shrugged it off and allowed Merlin to help him dress and put on his armor. While Arthur was looking over some papers on his table he noticed that Merlin had already made his bed and was starting to take the dishes from the table.
âMerlin, clearly something is upsetting you,â Arthur pointed out.
âItâs nothing sire, do you need anything else?â Merlin asked with his back against the door.
âNo, that will be all,â Arthur dismissed, sending a concerned glance towards his friend as he exited.
Merlin took leave and went back to his chambers to help Gaius. He tried to occupy his mind, but nothing he did seemed to ease that burning pit in his stomach. Something had happened, was happening, or was about to happen, he could feel it.
Somewhat abruptly, he decided that he needed to see you. He went to seek out Morgana, as you were filling in for Gwen while she was taking care of her brother. He knew that wherever Morgana was, you wouldnât be far away.
It was in his search that he saw a few of the knights rushing for an audience with the king. Something had happened. Merlin followed at a close distance and listened in.
âAs you know Sire Morgana, her maid, and a few knights rode for a pilgrimage to her fatherâs grave early this morning. They were meant to be back by now, but there is no word or sign of them. That was until one of the patrols came across one of the knightâs horses. I am afraid something went wrong..â
âSend men out immediately. Arthur, you will lead the search, do whatever you must to bring her home,â the King ordered concerned for his young ward.
âOf course father,â Arthur answered before hastily making an exit. Merlin was right on his heels, and left to prepare their horses.
---
The mercenaries had both you and Morgana in a tent with a guard posted right outside the doors. The two of you had come up with a plan, it was risky at best. However you were both aware of the fact that the further away from Camelot you traveled, the less likely you were to ever see it again.
âAre you ready for this?â Morgana asked, preparing herself.
âAs ready as Iâll ever beâ
She was about to step forward when you grabbed her arm, âNo matter what happens, I want you to take any opportunity you get. Donât worry about me. Promise.â
âThere is no way Iâm leaving without you.â
âMorgana, you have to promise me. I cannot bear the risk otherwise.â
âI promise, but only as long as you promise me the same. We take any opportunity we get.â
With that, the plan was in motion. Morgana demanded that she be allowed to bathe and you both were escorted to the river by two of the men. You took the distraction of her undressing to manage to disarm one of the men and tossed Morgana the sword just in time for her to take out the other. The two of you started running back towards the castle, but there was another mercenary that intercepted you. Being as you were the one with the sword you opted to fight him, thankful for the many hours you had spent training with Arthur when you were younger. Morgana turned back to help you.
âGo, I will be right behind you!â you shouted, watching her hesitate, âMorgana go! Now!â
She turned and ran only looking back when she heard your scream in the distance. She quickly picked up her pace again and ran without looking back. She pushed through the aching in her muscles until she was faced with a crossbow aimed at her face. Relief filling her features as soon as she saw its holder.
âWhereâs Y/n?â Arthur asked immediately.
Morgana merely shook her head and Arthur turned before his face could give him away. Merlin pushed down his own feelings and went to Morgana to make sure she was okay and offer her water and food. They set off immediately for the castle and soon came the reunion between Uther and Morgana. She begged him to send out another search party for you, after all you had saved her life.
âI am not going to waste the time and resources on a servant girl who has most likely already been executed as she provides no worth to the mercenaries without you,â he explained to Morgana. The words cut Arthur deeper than any sword ever had.
âPlease, there is still a chance. Arthur?â she turned towards him hoping he would take her side.
âIâm sorry Morgana, father is rightâ Arthur managed before turning and exiting a very angry Merlin on his heels.
âHow could you say that? How could you possibly agree with him after everything that you and Y/n have been through? I knew you were a clotpole, but this, this is unforgivable!â Merlin all but shouted.
âMerlin Shut Up!â Arthur raised his volume before regaining his composure as he entered his chambers, âOf course I donât agree with father, but there was no point in making a scene about it. We will pack and leave at first light. We will find her, one way or another.â
Merlin was speechless for a moment, before uttering an apology for overreacting before. He was then quick to leave and make the preparations for the next day as it was already early night.
The next morning he was surprised to see that Arthur had managed to not only wake himself up, but dress himself. He was looking over maps as Merlin entered. Soon the two of them were off on their quest to save the damsel in distress. The rode for the better part of the day before coming to a caves that were inhabited by wilddeoren. As they made it through the other side Arthur let out a breath he hadnât even known he was holding, âI canât believe the Gaia berries actually worked.â
âHold up, you mean to tell me that you didnât know that they would work before you lead us in a cave with giant flesh eating rats!â
âI mean not for sure, I heard stories, but I figured weâd find out one way or another.â
âNow you tell me?! Oh! Oh, what's that wilddeoren eating? It's all right. It's just Merlin. You trying to get us both killed?â
âI'm sorry. I shouldn't've risked your life like that,â Arthur said a new hint of seriousness in his voice.
âI didnât realize that even the great Arthur Pendragon could fall victim to the blindness of love,â Merlin joked.
âWhat in the world are you going on about?
âYour feelings for Y/n. Why canât you admit that you like her? I mean you are risking your life and even your fatherâs wrath just for a one in a hundred chance of rescuing her.
Arthur scoffed rolling his eyes, âShe is just a friend, Iâd do the same for you. In fact I seem to remember disobeying my father before in order to get you an antidote when you decided to get a few days off my drinking out of a poisoned chalice.â
âThat was different and you know it. Besides, anyone who has ever seen the two of you together can pick up on it. Why is it so hard to admit you like her? Itâs only me, just say it,â Merlin encouraged.
âI can't! How can I admit that I think about her all the time. Or that...I care about her more than anyone. How can I admit that...I don't know what I'll do if any harm comes to her?â Arthur confessed struggling to keep his emotion in check.
âWhy can't you?â
âBecause nothing can ever happen between us! To admit my feelings knowing that...hurts too much.â
âWho's to say nothing can happen?â
âMy father won't let me rescue a servant. Do you honestly believe he'd let me marry one?â
âYou want to marry Y/n?â
âNo! I mean maybe someday...I...I don't know...Regardless, it's all talk, and that's all it can ever be.â
âWhen you're King, you can change that. If she feels the same way, she would wait for you.â
âI can't expect her to do that, itâs not fair to her. Besides, we donât even know if sheâs alive,â he said regretting the words even as they left his mouth because they caused his stomach to drop.
âIâm sure sheâs fine Arthur. She knows that youâll come for her and that hope will keep her alive.â
The words seemed to offer Arthur some comfort, âCome on. We've got a long trek ahead. Oh, and Merlin...if you dare tell anyone about this, I promise I will make your life a living hell.â
âYou mean more than you do now?â Merlin joked, earning a playful smack from his friend.

Anyways, Iâm excited for this and hope you are too.
Hope you enjoy it. Thank you. Love you guys!
Please leave some feedback, like and reblog <3
Drowsy in the afterglow of sex and alcohol, you fell quickly into a deep sleep. You didnât even change before you sank into bed. You hardly recalled the elevator ride up or stumbling into your apartment and tripping around the shadows to your room. It was only a fractured journey from the car to your mattress.
You woke as your phone vibrated under your pillow. You must have buried it there before passing out. You groaned and rolled over as you dug it out. There were several notifications next to a single name; Peter. You thumbed through each message; written in the same tone as his voice. Demanding, without question.
âGreat night, Princess.â âWeâll do it again Saturday.â âWear something nice.â ⊠The messages escalated smoothly from doting to commanding. It jolted you back to the night before, the way he seemed to just thrust you through the night. The dress, the drinks, the men, the gunsâŠ
You sat up, your panties crooked on your hips. You muttered and swiped away the messages. You werenât seeing him again. You couldnât. You had stuck your toe in too deep already. It was best to nip these things in the bud. Not to let yourself get dragged in so far you couldnât see the surface.Â
Peter was more than mysterious; he was dangerous.
You went to the kitchen and waited for the machine to grind as the scent of coffee filled your heavy body. You drank too much, did too much. You still felt Peterâs hand between your legs. It made your chest tight and your head spin. You looked down at your body, the red dress wrinkled and askew.
You left the coffee to brew and retreated to your room. You tore off the dress and your panties. You pulled on a cotton shirt and loose pajama pants. You stormed back into the kitchen and shoved the clothing in the bin. You snatched your phone from the counter and swiped up the lock screen.
âSorry, I donât think this is going to work out.â You typed. Your hand shook as you hovered over send. You heard Halleâs door and you pressed your thumb down. You looked up at her before you pulled up the block option.
âHow was your night?â She asked as she inhaled the aroma of your morning ritual.
âEh, you know, another dead end,â you pushed your thumb down and the conversation disappeared. âJust not my type.â
âReally?â She whined. âHe seemed so nice. And he liked you so much.â
You blackened your screen and placed your phone face down. âWell, you know, things donât always turn out.â You shrugged and pulled out a mug, âYou want some?â
âAre you at least going to tell me about it?â She pouted. âAnd yes, lots of sugar.â
You poured her coffee and handed her the sugar dish. You frowned at how much powder she scooped into her cup but it was her most endearing trait. She knew what she wanted and she didnât care what anyone thought.
âUh, well, it wasnât anything special. He took me to a party but⊠I donât know. What kind of first date is that? Take me somewhere I donât know anyoneâŠâ You ran your finger around the rim of your cup. âMaybe when I was younger but now.â
âYou sound like such an old lady,â she snickered, âOh my god!â She stood straight, âAre we old?â
âI am, but youâll always be young at heart, Hal,â you rolled your eyes.
âSo youâre not going to try a second?â She prodded.
âI donât think so,â you cradled your mug, âHe⊠hasnât even messaged me back.âÂ
You hated lying but Halle had gotten you into this mess and you knew sheâd harp on you for not even giving Peter a chance. But you had. He wasnât what he seemed and you didnât want to stick around and find out what exactly he was hiding.
âWhat?â She huffed. âWell, fuck him then.â She sipped from her coffee and her lips curved as she swallowed. âWait, did youâŠâ
âHal, come on,â you snipped.
âOh, fine, but you know, maybe if you got laid, you wouldnât be so uptight.â She teased.
âNot this again,â you groaned and slid your phone off the counter. âYou know what, I got work to do.â
âUh huh,â she hummed as you turned to leave, âWork. When did you get so old and boring?â
âOne of us had to,â you called back over your shoulder, âAnd we both know youâre never growing up.â
âš
Your phone was pleasantly still for the rest of the day. You felt a twinge of guilt having blocked Peter but then you recalled the men and their holsters. You found your mind drifting away from your work and your fingers hovered over the keyboard as you thought back.Â
The company he kept added to the uneasiness in your chest. Steve was friendly but arrogant. The way he looked at you, the way he spoke to you, what was it he introduced you as, âPeterâs girlâ. And that man, Bucky. He didnât seem too fond of Peter but the way heâd grinned at you, as if he knew something you didnât. Well, he did, they all did. Your head stormed as you tried to figure out their secret.
You shook off the curdling paranoia and hunched as you squinted closer at your computer. You made yourself focus as you skimmed the tight font and added your suggestions in the margin. You sent off your edited draft as your stomach groaned; empty and churning from the acidic coffee.
You grabbed your phone and your mug as you stood. You checked the time. Almost noon. You grumbled and went back to the kitchen, thankfully empty as Halle had left for work an hour ago. You set your cup down and expanded your notifications. A single phone call from a private number and a new follower on your mostly empty Insta.
You opened the neglected app and hit the notification. The profile was emptier than yours. the profile pic was just black and there were no posts. The name gave you no hints as it was obviously generated by the site.Â
You went back and a comment popped up on the picture of your and Halle at last year's winter market. âGorgeous, Princess.â You read and reread the two words as you leaned against the counter. You bit your fingertips and went back to the mysterious profile. You hit âblockâ and locked your phone.
Surely, heâd get the hint sooner or later. It was one date and the man seemed to have no trouble with women. Heâd move on and youâd both forget about that off putting night. You just had to wait him out.
âš
A week rolled by as you kept yourself busy with your work. The phone calls stopped after the first day and you had no more peculiar alerts awaiting you. Your plan had worked. It wasnât exactly the best; it was a bit cowardly, actually. Yet, knowing how Peter was and how ânoâ seemed beyond his vocabulary, you had more faith in your evasion than his understanding.
As the weekend approached, Halle convinced you to come out with the girls. You had eluded those opportunities for the past year as you found yourself disillusioned and disinterested in the club scene. You felt as if you were aging out of it and seeing all those fresh-faced coeds assured you of it. Even so, the girls liked to dance and in their words, you need to âlet looseâ.
You couldnât disagree. You had been on edge and the mounting emails in your inbox didnât ease the stress of everything else.
With a pre-drink burning a whole in your stomach, you pulled on a pair of flats as your bag hung across your chest. You were comfortable but not stuffy in your tight jeans and the bright pink top with the criss-cross straps. You felt pretty good and the vodka made you optimistic.
You headed down to the street and caught a cab. The dread evaporated the closer you got and as you pulled up to the front of the flashing club, Molly and Desiree waved at your approach. The four of you joined the line as you searched out your ID.
âSo,â Molly said, âHalle told us about your little date!â
âDate?â You blinked. âOh, yeah, that didnât pan out.â
âOf course,â Desiree scoffed, âThat guy was so cute though.â
âYeah, he was nice, but we just didnâtâŠâ
âHeâs ghosting her!â Halle interjected, âDidnât even text the next day, ugh.â
Halle crossed her arms and you nodded. You werenât going to correct her, you didnât need the other two piling on about your dormant love life. You came out to have a good time, thatâs what they promised you, and you didnât want to think about the night that still stood so vividly in your mind.
As you stepped up to the bouncer, he barely looked at your card. You were almost offended as he waved you through and carded the next party more closely. You glanced around at your friends but they hardly seemed bothered. Well, only Halle had reached that big three-o with you, and the other two girls still had a year or two to go.
Madonnaâs voice pumped from the speakers as you neared the bar. You looked around at the streaming lights and the bodies shadowed in the strobe. You were surprised you recognized the song and you nudged Desiree as she waited for Molly to order the first round.
âWhatâs up with the music?â You asked.
âItâs retro night! Duh! Just for you!â She giggled and you elbowed her harder.
Molly turned and passed out the plastic cups with their thin straws and you followed Halle to the low stage where the smoke machine billowed. You coughed at the taste of the fog and sucked on your straw. You began to sway as the other girls led the charge. You could help but be enlivened by the deep base and the energy all around.
As you danced, the girls yelled back and forth about their recent drama. Desireeâs date had been more successful than your own, Molly was certain she was in love with Charlie? You still didnât know. And Halle was just riding the vibe.
You finished your drink and the other girls stacked their cups in yours before you crossed the stage to leave the garbage on the table just beside the platform.Â
You looked over at the bar, pondering another, and your eye was caught by a figure who seemed out of place. The cut of his suit, the way he leaned on hand on a stool, and the intense gaze sent in your direction startled you.
You blinked and stumbled over to the single step down to the floor. You pushed through the bodies, nearly tumbling as a tipsy guy crashed into you. You got to the bar and looked up and down it. Girls waved their hands to get the bar tenderâs attention and guys sidled up to them.Â
Bucky was gone. It was him. Maybe the air was filled with smoke and the lights were flashing like a siren, but you were certain. Why was he there? How had he found you among the city? Among the reverie in that club? Why had he been watching you? And where had he gone?
You went to where youâd seen him and searched the perimeter of the bar. You went back through the club and slipped past those just getting in. You tapped on the bouncerâs shoulder and he grumbled before he turned and bent to hear you. âWhat is it?â
âDid you see a guy in a suit leave? Dark hair and--â
âThereâs a lot of people here,â he shrugged you off.
You snarled and turned back. You got ahead of the flood of new arrivals and fought your way back to the three girls on the stage. As you walked up, Halle pouted and grabbed your elbow. âBoo, we thought you were getting another round.â
âNo, no, IâŠâ you squirmed and tried to get back into the rhythm, âI had to use the restroom.â
âWell, how about now? Wanna refill the tank?â She jibed.
âUh, sure,â you picked at the purse. âBe right back.â
âMake mine a double,â Molly called after you. âThanks.â
âš
Despite drowning yourself in alcohol, you barely slept and when you did, you were back in the club, staring at a man you never expected to see again. You wondered if maybe youâd imagined it or if Peter had sent him after you or if it was someone else and you were just tipsy and blind. Whatever it was, you couldnât shake the foreboding that followed you into the next morning.
Your Saturday was painful and lazy. You spent your hangover on the couch and barely saw Halle as she cowered in the dim light of her room. You fell asleep there and dragged yourself to bed just before nine. You really were old, or at least, getting there.
Sunday slapped you in the face after another night of disjointed dreams. Peter and the room full of men, Bucky at the bar, and static in between. Responsibility called you from your mattress and you cleaned up and dressed for your weekly trip to the grocery store.Â
As you came out, Halle was glaring at her phone. âWhatâs up?â You asked as you shoved your wallet in your purse. âYou coming to the store?â
âI got called in for one.â She pouted. âTell me why I fucked that asshole?â
âShit, Hal, Iâm sorry. Well, Iâll just do the shop myself.â You frowned, âLet you get ready to deal with all that.â
âItâs all because he fucking texted me on Friday and drunk me decided to reply and then⊠urgh, why do I do this?â
âI donât know why youâre asking me?â You grinned.
âOh, please go before I throw this at you,â she shook her phone, âAnd donât forget my oat milk.â
âWhole milk?â You asked as you slipped your shoes on, âGot it.â
âDonât,â she warned.
âAlright, alright. Hopefully I catch you before you go,â you stood and grabbed your keys from the hook. âHave fun with Mr. Bossman.â
âShut up,â she buried her head in her hands, âOh my god!â
You tried not to laugh as you left. You felt bad for her as you didnât know what youâd do in her situation. Looking for a new job had been her first thought but the market was never very good and the man who was driving her away, wasnât exactly a shining reference.
You took your usual route to the grocer. You had your list on your phone and loaded your cart. You filled the reusable bags and set off for a very inconvenient subway ride home. Your arms screamed as you carried the load up your street and struggled to find your keys at the door. The elevator was too slow and you ended up hauling it all up the stairs. You were out of breath as you got to your apartment.
You turned the knob just a little and kicked open the door. You stomped in and dropped the bags. âSo, I got your damn milk--â You stopped short as your voice collided with Halleâs. She was already dressed for work but her braids were still loose. She stood behind the couch as she talked to your unexpected visitor.
âOh, there she is,â she said snappily, âI wouldnât blame her for kicking you out but Iâll leave it up to her.â Halle turned to you, âLook whoâs here. Only took him a week to come around.â
âHal,â you said softly as you set the bags down. âWhat--â You lowered your voice, âWhyâd you let him in?â
âSo he can apologize to you,â she huffed loudly and passed you to close the door, âDonât you worry, I still gotta finish getting ready so you have lots of time to hear him out.â She looked at him sharply.
âReally, itâsâŠâ You gulped as you peeked over at Peter. He sat calmly in the chair as he watched you. âYeah, okay.â
She marched into her room and as her door closed, you reluctantly approached the back of the couch where your roommate had just stood. You stared at Peter, uncertain what to say. You hadnât been prepared for this; for him to be there in your apartment, your home.
âPeter,â you ran your hands over the couch cushions.
âYou lie to everyone you know?â He asked. âAs I recall, Iâm not the one whoâs been⊠âghostingâ, as your friend says.â
âIâŠâ You shifted and picked at the seam, âLook, I told you it wasnât going to work--â
âYou barely gave me a chance. Gave us a chance,â he said as he pushed his legs apart. âThatâs hardly fair.â
âWell, you know, I have work and itâs just not a good time for me right now.â You sniffed. âIâm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but--â
âHa, princess, I donât hurt so easy,â he smirked, âWhy donât you sit down and we can talk properly⊠finally.â
You scratched your brow and cleared your throat. âI donât think we need to do that.â
Your voice trailed off as Halle opened her door again. She swept out and you waited as she scooped her purse off the counter and sidestepped the groceries still sat on the floor.
âGotta go,â she sang, âIâll see you after work.â She stopped by the door as she wiggled into her heels, âLet me know how you deal with⊠him.â
âSee ya,â you said quietly and watched her go. You looked back at Peter slowly as he chuckled.
âWhat did you tell her about me?â He wondered.
âNothing. Really.â You said. âI have your jacket. You want it back--â
âSit,â he gestured to the couch. âWeâll worry about that later.â
âNo. Peter, please. Iâm just not interested, okay?â
âYou seemed pretty interested in the car,â he purred, âSeemed real interested.â
âIâŠâ You looked at the wall and squirmed. âI didnât ask you to do that.â
âYou were asking for it in that dress,â he intoned. âNow,â his movement drew your eye as he reached into his jacket, âI donât like playing things like this.â He pulled the pistol from its holster and rested it on the arm of the chair, his hand firm on the handle. âPlease, sit down. Letâs talk.â
You stared at the gun. Your blood burned hot and you felt blindly as you came around the couch and dropped down. Your eyes never left the muzzle. Would he use it on you?
âOh, princess, donât you worry, Iâm just getting comfortable.â He taunted. âNow, Iâve been tryna figure out where I went wrong. I got you a pretty dress, I took you to a nice party, I fed you champagne, and I even gave you a little dessert,â he mused and his lip curled, âSo I gotta confess Iâm confused as you why youâve been hiding from me.â
You were paralyzed. You clutched your knees and gritted your teeth. You didnât know what to say. Youâd convinced yourself that youâd never see him again. Your method was tried and trued, at least, when it was used against you.
âDonât be afraid. You can tell me. I really would prefer the truth.â His finger slid along the short barrel as he spoke. âSo?â
âI⊠Peter, I donât think that we would, uh, work out. Look, I donât like guns andâŠâ Your lashes fluttered, âI donât really know that I wanna be around someone who carries one. Not too mention, your friends--â
âMy friends. Princess, your mine. They wonât touch you.â He raised his chin. âTheyâre not that bold.â
You were silent. Your heart pulsed loudly and you took a breath. You stood cautiously and crossed your arms. âPeter, we talked. I told you my reasons. I think you should⊠go.â You said as firmly as you could.
He laughed again. His cheek twitched and the smile fell away from his face. He rose slowly and turned his gun to tuck it away under his jacket. His eyes never left you as he did.
âYou really want me to go?â He asked.
You nodded and held your breath. âYes.â
He threw his hands out and clapped them against his pants. He shook his head and crossed the room. You turned to watch him as he passed and suddenly, you were thrust towards him. His hand was on the back of your neck as he pulled you against him. He held you tightly and you felt his gun poking through his jacket.
He grinned, his lips only an inch from yours. âIâm going, princess, but not without you.â
âLet go of me!â You struggled with him. âGet off!â
âPrincess,â he warned as his fingers dug into your neck, âSettle down.â
âNo, I told you to go.â You hissed as you grabbed his wrist. âPlease.â
âLetâs get this straight,â he said, âYou donât tell me what to do. Even if it gets me hard.â He crushed his lips to your suddenly and you wrestled with him, your teeth grazing his lip before he pulled back sharply, barely escaping a bite. âYou donât wanna do that.â
His hand went to your chin and he looked you in the face. He rubbed his nose against yours and growled. You beat on his chest and he squeezed tighter.
âShit, letâs not just rush out of here,â he released you, âYou should get those away before they spoil.â
He stepped back and placed his hand on the front of his jacket, where his gun was hidden. You gaped at him and your eyes flitted to the door.
âAh, donât worry, weâll be on our way soon enough,â he said, âSo long as you hurry up.â
You swallowed and he moved with you as you went to the bags. He blocked the door as you pulled the straps apart and began to unpack shakily. You dropped a can and it rolled along the floor before he stopped it with his foot. He kicked it back and leaned an elbow on the door frame.
You picked it up with several other cans and went to the cupboard. You snapped the door closed as you felt around the drawer with your other hand. You heard a click and looked to Peter as he aimed his pistol at you. He tilted his head.Â
âDonât do that,â he intoned as your hand lingered just inches from the knives inside the drawer.
You went back to the spread of groceries and tried to ignore him as you put everything in its place. As you bent to fill the crisper, he purred, a sizzly âprincessâ under his breath. You finished up and packed the bags one into the other. You left them on the counter and again, he put his gun away.
âPrincess, let me tell you something,â he gripped the door handle, âI donât take that out without using it very often so donât press my patience.â He turned the knob slowly, âIâve waited on you long enough.â
âš
The car ride was tense and long. Peter drove you uptown and you watched out the window helplessly. You rubbed your palms together nervously as they dampened with sweat. Heâd taken your phone when you reached for it. He tossed it and it was somewhere on the floor.
He drove past the condos and the walk-ups and continued on nearly the exact path heâd taken on the momentous night. Another grand house awaited you but you remained in the seat as Peter climbed out. He opened your door and still you didnât move. He reached across you to unbuckle the seat belt and grabbed your arm. He jerked you out onto your feet and sighed.
âPeter,â you begged, âWhatâs going on? Please, youâre scaring me.â
âPrincess, have I done you wrong?â He asked but you didnât answer. âI wonât hurt you.â
âYouâre hurting me right now,â you wriggled your arm and he shoved you ahead of him.
âIn,â he demanded as you stumbled up the rounded steps. âNow.â
You opened the door and stepped inside. You crossed the marble floor of the foyer as he directed you from behind. He followed at a pace, close enough that you couldnât flee. Even if you did, you wouldnât make it far.
âPete,â the voice startled you and you stopped at the bottom of the wide staircase. Bucky stood in a doorway to your left. His gaze moved from you to Peter and back again. âI didnât realise you brought company.â
âYouâre still here?â Peter snipped.
âWas I supposed to leave?â He sneered. âYou got me and Steve running around and youâre gonna kick us to the curb.â
âYou donât look very busy to me,â Peter growled and neared to rest his hand on your lower back. He leaned in and whispered in your ear. âUpstairs, turn left, the room at the very end. I donât like hide and seek, you got me?â
You nodded and looked at Bucky again. His mouth slanted knowingly and his tongue poked out for just a moment. You turned up the stairs and left Peter behind. You reached the top and listened for a moment to his muffled voice.
âYou and Steve do your fucking job and leave me alone. Understand. I donât want to be bothered.â Peter snarled.
âOh, I wouldnât wanna be interrupted either,â Bucky snickered. âNot with her.â
âGo,â Peter barked. âNow.â
âAy, you might be Tonyâs man but you still gotta watch yourself,â Bucky warned. âThis little arrangement isnât gonna last foreverâŠâ
You went to your left and to the door at the end, like he said. You entered and couldnât help but gasp at the immense bedroom. The black and white decor was expertly matched in marbles and exotics woods, plush velvet and polished sconces. You couldnât help but admire the luxury.
You didnât close the door. You glanced around dumbly and stood in one spot as you feared you might break something. You wrung your hands as you heard the steady footsteps and you spun as Peter entered. He looked even more agitated as he cracked his knuckles.
âSorry about that, Princess,â he said, âNow where were we?â His eyes roved the room as he thought, âAh, yes, an apology.â
âApology. IâŠâ
âShould I close the door?â He raised a brow, âYouâd be surprised how sound carries in here.â
You frowned and he laughed as he swung the door shut. He neared you and bit the tip of his tongue as he considered you. His brown eyes bore into you and you took a step back. He stayed near and caught your wrist. His other hand fumbled with his belt and he let out a slow breath through his nose.
âPrincess, Iâd love to treat you how you deserve but you gotta be good to me too.â He pulled on your arm and twisted as you tried to resist. You hissed and he pushed your hand against his crotch. âI donât forgive easy but Iâm sure you can change that.â
âDonât... donât make me do this,â you uttered.
âOh, but princess, you did this,â he pressed your hand around his bulge. âYou take care of me and Iâll do the same.â
You parted your lips to argue and he grabbed the back of your head. He kissed you roughly and guided your hand to the top of his boxers. He slid your fingers under the elastic and urged you on, wrapping your fingers around his dick with a groan.
He squeezed until you gripped him firmly. He led your hand up and down as he held you to him, his hot breath filling you as it picked up. He forced his tongue into your mouth and you clawed at his jacket as he kept your other hand around him. He parted from your mouth at last and pressed his cheek to yours.
âKeep going, princess,â he purred as he slowly withdrew his hand from around yours. âYou donât wanna use your hand, I might think of something else.â
You quivered and slid your hand up and down his length. He nuzzled your neck and nibbled as he moaned against your skin. You could only move your hand as you stood against him stunned and rigid. He gripped your waist as you felt him tense and he murmured hungrily.
âOh, princess,â he breathed and pushed his pelvis against your hands as he came.Â
You felt the slick heat seep down your hand and slowed until he was breathless. He stilled your hand with his and carefully eased your hand from his pants. He stood straight and eyed your glistening fingers.
âShit,â he swore as he caressed your cheek, âYou made a mess of this suit.â He dropped his hand to the front of his pants as he smiled. He inhaled and pushed his shoulders back. âI forgive you, Princess.â

The stars are our safe haven
Lena Luthor x Reader
Summary - Lena and Reader for the first time in real life.
Lena is in her office and it's been a long day. She has been dealing with a lot and she is feeling stressed out. She looks at the time and it's late, Lena grabbed the Obsidian North's contact lenses and puts them on. She looks around and she is in the same location... She is at a cabin by the lake and she starts to set the chessboard.
âYou are on time,â Lena said.
âIt's rude to be late for our game. Should we start?â You said.
You and Lena never met in real life, you met her through Obsidian North online. You never played chess in real life because it didn't interest you. But when you met Lena that changed. She always beat you in chess and she would explain how she won.
Lena never saw your face because you have a mask on, she doesn't. Every night and on the weekends, you meet up with Lena to play chess and just talk. You never once took off the mask and she doesn't pressure you but she is curious how you look.
âYou weren't online for long yesterday. Is everything okay?â You said.
Lena sighed âToo much is going on. I needed a break and I came hereâ
âWe don't have to play chess if you don't want to. I know you would be scared to play against meâ You said.
You made Lena laugh and she rolled her eyes at you.
âY/n, you do know I beat you 59 times and you haven't won one game,â Lena said.
âThat's not how I remember,â You said.
She laughed again.
âLet's start the game, y/n,â Lena said.
You only told Lena your first name. She does know that you know about her family drama, but you never once asked for a favor or blackmailed her. You and Lena feel comfortable around each other and have deep conversations with each other. Lena hasn't opened up to anyone in a long time.
You and Lena start to play chess, and she won the first game. Lena does know about your family and your life. Lena has developed feelings for you, she does wonder now and then if you would feel the same way as her. Sometimes she would doubt that you won't like her because of family and other things.
âHowâs your work,â Lena said.
âThey cut my hours... So I'm learning less and my rent went upâ You said.
âOh... That must be roughâ Lena said.
âItâs life. It was my momâs birthday so we bought her gifts and a cakeâ You said.
âLast time, I celebrated my birthday was when I six years ago when my mother passed away. The Luthors are not really into celebrating together as a family unless it's an evil planâ Lena said.
Lena won the game the second time. You and Lena play again, but this time you set the board.
âWow, now that's rough,â You said.
âWe can play one more game. So... Um dating anyone?â Lena said.
âNope. I was interested in someone but it wouldn't have worked out. You?â You said.
You look at the board and you think about what to do.
âI am interested in someone... But I don't knowâ Lena said.
Lena beat you in three moves.
âHow the hell did you win?â You asked.
She laughed and she starts to explain.
---
A couple of days later...
You had a rough day and you put on the contact lenses. Lena is there, she can sense something is wrong by the look of your eyes. Lena hugged you and waited for you to say something. You like Lenaâs arms around you, you felt safe.
âI won't pressure you to talk about it. When you want to talk about it, I will listenâ Lena said.
âThanks. I'm not ready to talk about it but yeah, I had a rough dayâ You said.
She kissed your head, she isn't sure why she did it. But she thought you would get angry about it but you didn't. After the hug, you and Lena talked about something else.
âY/n, I was thinking maybe we can meet in real life?â Lena asked.
âAre you serious?â You asked.
âYes. But only if you want to, I don't want to force you into something that you're uncomfortable withâ Lena said.
âCan I think about it?â You asked.
âOf course,â Lena said.
You nod and she gave you a small smile.
⏠⫠⯠â«
You have been thinking about what Lena said about meeting in person. You start to get ready for work, put on your headphones, and left your apartment. You start to listen to a podcast on how to get better at chess. You have strong feelings for Lena, but you doubt yourself and think you're not good enough for her. You always feel comfortable around her. You are having a hard time, thinking about meeting Lena in person.
You put on the contact lenses, she smiled. You asked Lena about her day and she asked about yours.
âLena, I think we should meet in person,â You said.
âAre you sure, y/n?â Lena asked.
âYeah, I'm sure. We have been friends online for almost five years. Maybe... We can meet somewhere in public at a cafe shop?â You said.
Lena smiled âyes, we can meet at a cafe shop. How I will know it's you?â
âI will wear a plain blue shirt,â You said.
âOkay, we will meet at The Jolly Goat Coffee Bar, tomorrow at four?â Lena said.
âSounds good to me, Lena,â You said.
You and Lena smiled at each other.
---
The next day...
You are at the cafe shop. You're freaking out and Lena hasn't arrived yet. You keep looking at the time on your phone over and over. A few minutes later, you felt a hand on your shoulder and you looked up.
âY/n?â Lena asked.
âHey L-Lena,â You said.
She sits across from you. She is feeling nervous and she bites her bottom lip.
âSorry, I'm late the meeting went longer than expected,â Lena said.
âIt's okay. I'm feeling really nervous right nowâ You said.
âMe too. But I'm happy that you wanted to meet and I got to see how you lookâ Lena said.
âI knew eventually the mystery wasn't going to last long,â You said nervously.
She nods.
âShould we order? My treatâ Lena said.
âYeah, let's order,â You said.
You and Lena are starting to feel less nervous. You love her green eyes and she can't stop smiling at you. You and Lena stayed at the cafe shop for a while, then left and walked around the park for a little bit.
⏠⫠⯠â«
Since that day, you and Lena did meet up in person now and then. But other days, you meet her online. You and Lena still play chess together. Tonight changed everything
âWow, y/n I can't believe you finally won a game,â Lena said.
You have a big smile on your face.
âTo be honest, I have been reading books about chess, listening to podcasts about chess and I wanted to impress you,â You said.
âYou wanted to impress me by getting better at chess? That is cute. Well, I'm glad I lost to youâ Lena said.
âWe will keep playing chess?â You asked.
âWe would still keep playing, y/n,â Lena said.
You smiled but the next game you lost again. But you are still feeling hyped about the game you won.
----
Today is Lenaâs birthday and you wanted to do something special for her. For her, it's just another normal day and she only told you when is her birthday. You bought a small cake, a cute gift and you surprise Lena at her loft.
You have been to her loft before, she gave you the code to the keypad. She didn't know that you were coming over but she is happy to see you. You follow Lena to the kitchen, she is drinking wine and working on her laptop.
âClose your eyes, Lena,â You said.
âOkay,â Lena said.
Lena closed her eyes. You take out the cake, place the candles then light the candles with a lighter.
âOkay, Lena open your eyes,â You said.
Lena is surprised by what you just did for her.
âOh y/n, you shouldn't have,â Lena said.
âLena happy birthday. I wanted to surprise you, hope you like itâ You said.
âI love it. Nobody has ever done this for meâ Lena said.
Lena hugged you tight and she can't stop smiling. She stares into your eyes and you feel her lips on yours. You kiss her back, she pulls away and she apologized.
âY/n, I am so sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. Y/n, I like you as more than a friend... I have liked you for a while and if you don't feel the same, I hope we can be friends I don't want you out of my lifeâ Lena said.
You are speechless about what she said. You try to say something but you just stutter.
âLena... Lena, I do feel the same way I like you so much. But I feel I'm not good enough for you. I have a dead-end job, I can't take you to a expensive restaurant and I still live with my family... I can't afford to live on my own and I have two jobsâ You said.
She gently grabs your hand.
âY/n, I like you for who you are. What you did right now, I love it that you surprised me with a cake for my birthday. It doesn't bother me that you live with your familyâ Lena said.
You gave her a small smile.
âYou should blow out the candles before the wax gets on the cake,â You said.
Lena kissed your cheek and she blows out the candles. You and Lena sit on the couch and eat cake together.
âDo you want to make it official?â Lena asked.
âYes, I want to make it official. Like the cake?â You said.
She nods âits really good cake. Thank you, y/nâ
You stay the night, later you and Lena cuddle in bed and watch Disney movies. During the movie, you and Lena start to make out but it doesn't go further. You feel her hand under your shirt on your lower back, she smiled and she keeps kissing you.

Corpse Husband x Plus-sized Reader (Female)
Warnings: Body Image Insecurities, Low self-esteem, Swearing
Genre:Â Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: Feeling comfortable in her skin has hardly ever been the case for Y/N whoâs been struggling with body image issues all her life. However, they only get worse when she sees the âtypeâ of girls her crush is into.
Requested by Anon. Hi darling! Thank you so much for your request (hits close to home đ
) Iâm so sorry it has taken me so long to fulfill it and post it but here it finally is and if youâve stuck around long enough to read it, I hope you enjoy! ALSO! - Never forget how beautiful and amazing you are. Never compare your beauty to someone elseâs. Weâre all beautiful people and we all shine so brightly and uniquely. No one deserves to be compared to anyone when weâre all so different yet so incredible. Love you and appreciate you with all my heart, Vy â€
If I ever need my ego taken down a few notches - it never does, itâs barely even present, to be honest - all I have to do is go on Instagram. To be honest, regardless of how Iâm feeling, opening that app is bound to make my mood plummet and come crashing into the ground so hard it drives a hole in it - probably in the form of a broken heart.
Being a content creator myself, I often get asked questions about my absence on that social platform specifically. I mean, the questions are based and rational I guess, considering Iâm not a faceless YouTuber and yet my Instagram account is void of any photos. Itâs not like I donât post at all - I do! I post on my story often but itâs more often than not scenery I find pretty or a poster Iâve made for a movie/video game. Bottom line is: I barely ever allow a picture of me to make it online. The most my fans are ever gonna get of me is a selfie which is also a super rare occurrence because of how long it takes me to take and choose one I donât hate.
Ok, but how am I supposed to find the motivation to post any sort of picture of myself when on my timeline Iâm always faced with people worthy of posting pictures of themselves. People with such perfect bodies and beautiful faces. Donât get me wrong, Iâm not jealous or envious of those people - good for them! They know what theyâre working with and theyâre working it well. I have nothing against them, in fact, I love seeing people proud of their bodies no matter their size, shape or weight. Those are my role-models: people who are proud of themselves, their bodies, their attributes and capabilities and donât hesitate to show them off. Those are the people I look up to but, deep down inside I know Iâll never be like.
Insecure about my body, having been referred to as âchubbyâ and âsquishyâ all my life. Inappreciative of the stuff I do: starting from my job as a graphic designer leading towards my job on YouTube - nothing I do, professionally or otherwise, satisfies me. Nothing I do is enough in my eyes because I feel incapable of ever being able to do enough. Iâve been called lazy and a half-asser a few too many times to be able to brush it off as a meaningless insult.Â
With these problems Iâve had with myself and my own perception of who I am and the work I do, Iâve never had the time for romance or romantic relationships. I second-guess the intentions of everyone who ever shows any interest in me because in my mind Iâm nothing special and I have nothing to offer - nothing attractive or likable at least. That being said, I havenât even been one to make heart eyes at others either. I busy myself with my job and some side-gigs, brushing off any relationship questions with the excuse that Iâm âjust too busy to be in a relationshipâ which is technically true.
Having spent twenty plus years with that mindset, one can imagine how surprised I was when I found myself catching feelings for someone. And that someone just couldnât be any other than the biggest YouTube sensation at the moment - Corpse Husband.
Iâm close friends with Poki - her and I were roommates at one point too - so her inviting me to play Among Us with them wasnât so strange. One or two games, I thought, nothing unusual there, just friendly curtesy. I wasnât expecting to warm up to the group of famous streamers nor did I expect them to welcome me among them so easily, mostly because my channel is so small and practically invisible to the YouTube algorithm. But soon enough, I became a permanent member of the team, making friends with every single one of those YouTubers I practically thought of a celebrities.
This journey of branching out to other content creators has proven itself to be surprisingly pleasant and has packed my book of friendships to the brim. All of that came unexpectedly, along with a wave of new subs and a higher view count. However, as I mentioned, it hasnât been all sunshine and rainbows. I came to finally understand what my high school friends were talking about when they were head over heels for a boy - the butterflies in the stomach whenever he speaks your name; the importance of the laugh you share with him, how special and different it is; how cool it is to be impostors with him - ok they never said that, obviously, but itâs what I have as a substitute to the âwhen the two of you make eye-contactâ bullshit since Corpse and I have never seen each other in person. That is, of course, because of him being a faceless YouTuber and me being a self-conscious and insecure girl.
We do talk all the time though - texting, calling, chilling on Discord, you name it. Our conversations range from deeply philosophical to ones that might mislead someone into thinking weâre high. Thereâs no topic we havenât touched upon and yet we still manage to find something new to talk about. We have plenty of similarities but we also never seem to run out of differences we slowly come across as we keep getting to know each other better and better.Â
And somewhere along that journey I ended up catching feelings.
Human nature of wanting to connect with other people, I curse you for what youâve done to me.
You might think Iâm being overdramatic about the whole ordeal and that this is just a normal, natural occurrence many people experience in their life - some even daily. Well, not only am I far from used to it, but itâs also taking a toll of a different kind on me.
Itâs like a constant slap to the face.Â
That slap turned into a punch when Corpse and I started following each other on Instagram and I started getting daily reminders of how out of my depth I am with this crush on him. In over my head, especially when you look at all those girls whose pics and videos he reposts on his story. Imagine how that makes me feel, what that does to me - puts me back into the âConstantly not good enoughâ basket, the one Iâve been fighting to get out of all my life. In the past and in different contexts I could easily say that it was all just my mind hating me intensely but now - now that I know for a fact Iâm not good enough and donât fit Corpseâs criteria - it hurts ten times as much. Iâm not one to do shit for someoneâs attention or to attract someoneâs eyes, but it really hurts my feelings. Often times, it also leads me to doing dumb things and making rash decisions.Â
Like the one I made two days ago.
Imagine me cringing and shaking my head at my own stupidity as I admit this: I, in a frenzy, ordered a whole e-girl getup with overnight delivery.Â
Wait, hold up, it gets worse.Â
I received it yesterday and spent the whole day regretting that decision, but then, in my most insecure hours - which was somewhere around midnight - I equipped the get-up, took a picture and posted it on my Instagram page. First full body pic Iâve ever posted on there. First pic Iâve posted there of any kind. There to stay, not to be gone in twenty four hours. First pic, and itâs not even of me. Itâs of who I want to be in order to fit someoneâs criteria. And that fucking stings.
As you might imagine, Iâve spent todayâs day regretting that decision as well. Recently my moodâs been nothing but regretting rash decisions that have surfaced under the influence of my ridiculous, constantly-present insecurities. And I wouldâve probably gotten over it rather quickly had I not received a message from Corpse that read:
âDidnât think of you with an e-girl aestheticâ
I didnât open the message, I peeped at it as it was a notification on my lock screen. Itâs still there, an unread notification. Itâs been two hours since I received it and I cannot think of a single thing to say in response to that.Â
Truth is, Iâm afraid. Iâm afraid of so many things right now.
Iâm afraid of becoming that girl in the photo, cause Iâm most definitely not her.
Iâm afraid of letting Corpse down by admitting Iâm not her.
Iâm afraid of what my own mind has made me do because it hates me so much and Iâm terrified of what it might do in the future.
Iâm afraid and stranded on things to do.
You canât be her forever, you know. Being her wonât make your insecurities go away, itâll only make them worse. Havenât you learned that by now?
I sigh, frustrated and irritated with myself as I grab my phone and tap on the notification, finally deciding to face the music and allow my instincts to carry me through the interaction. Improvisation, thatâs one of the few things Iâm good at. Letâs hope it doesnât fail me.
Iâm just about to type out my response - not sure what itâs gonna say - when I give the message Corpse has sent me a second glance. I furrow my brows, finding thereâs more to it than that peep through the notification let me see.
âDidnât think of you with an e-girl aesthetic. Youâre personality is so bright and colorful, I couldâve never imagined you were into the darks and blacksâ
Because Iâm not
I fail to realize until the message has been sent that my thoughts are exactly what I typed out and sent.
And honestly, Iâm glad. It feels like Iâve spoken my truth, like Iâve lifted a huge boulder off my chest.
With that rare confidence in mind I go on and delete the picture.
In its spot, I post a picture I just now took - a mirror selfie in my homey get-up consisting of hot pink sweatpants and an oversized blue tee, my hair in a messy bun, my face free of make-up.
I caption it:Â âOops, had the e-girl filter on for the last one. This is filterless me tho so...Hi đ„Žâ
A lot better, Iâm surprised to hear my inner voice say. I hope I donât get used to all this kindness on my brainâs part, probably wonât last, but damn if I donât milk every second of it.
Just then, I receive a new message from non other than Corpse.
âNow thatâs the girl I see when I think of you. Sheâs super cute đâ
My, oh my, who wouldâve guessed Corpse has a game like that - and by that I mean the ability to make me blush so intensely with only a text message.
Now ainât that better than being someone else, Y/N?
It sure is, it sure is.

Out of the Blue
*This was a request*
Warnings - smut / unplanned pregnancy / talk of abortion
I've used a fictional family for Cillian for this, names have been changed.
"That's it then," Cillian sighed, reading the letter from his solicitor, his friend Adam sitting opposite him in the kitchen of Cillian's new apartment in North Dublin. The Decree Nisi, his divorce from Kate now final. He felt a tinge of sadness, he couldn't help it, they'd spent most of their lives together and shared two teenage boys, but he couldn't forgive her cheating on him while he was away filming, the trust had left him completely.
"To a fresh start, Cill." Adam raised his bottle of beer to Cillian's pint of Guinness as they toasted, Ada ln trying to lighten the darkness in his best friend's eyes. "You're better off without her - now you can move on."
"Yeah no thanks, I'm done with women for a LONG time Ad, they're all the fucking same!" Cillian smiled, almost a laugh. "All I'm interested in now is the boys, they've been through one hell of a rollercoaster this last year."
"When are they coming to stay?"
"Tomorrow afternoon, I've got them all weekend."
"Then tonight Mr Murphy I am taking you OUT! Come on, we can go check out that new bar in the city, there's a band on!" Cillian groaned, that was not his plan for this evening. All he wanted was his pyjamas, a good book and an early night. This wasn't lost on Adam. "I'm not taking no for an answer here, come on! It's been months since you went out, let's do this!"
"Adam please... Not tonight yeah? Maybe next week, or.."
"Enough! No! You're not moping any more, I'm taking to out and that's the end of it." Cillian rolled his eyes. Fuck it, arguing with Adam was pointless, he'd known this since high school.
Within an hour they were ready, both of them in jeans and Timberland boots, Cillian in a blue striped t shirt and Adam in a green one. Hair fixed, they headed out to the waiting taxi outside.
"The first sign of someone trying to take my picture, I'm out of there Adam..." Cillian dreaded the thought of being papped out on the town following his divorce. The papers just wanted a scoop on who he'd be sleeping with now he was freshly single and available. Adam nodded in agreement a deal, as the taxi pulled outside the bar.
******************************
Y/n woke up, her head pounding. Opening her eyes she looked around at her surroundings, not recognising a single thing.
"The fuck have you done this time y/n..." You groaned, rolling your eyes and sitting up gingerly, trying to stop the contents of your stomach from evacuating violently over the unfamiliar bedsheets. Glancing at the alarm clock, you groaned again. 8am... Why the hell was it so damn early.. and where the fuck was she?? She heard a door downstairs open and close, and froze. She wasn't alone. Footsteps up the stairs, she quickly hid back under the covers pretending to be asleep as she heard the bedroom door open and the pressure on the side of the bed as someone sat down next to her sleeping body.
"Hey.. you awake?" An Irish voice filled the silence, as the smell of fresh coffee found its way under the duvet you were hiding under. Clenching your eyes tightly together, you slowly pulled the duvet back and opened them, seeing the man you clearly spent the previous evening with. Your eyes found his.. my god they were so blue.. he was handsome.. bit older than you, maybe? You couldn't tell for sure. You definitely recognised him from somewhere other than last night though, maybe he went to uni with you?
"Um... Morning.. I uh -" you sat up, taking the coffee from his hand, thanking him.
"Did we -"
"Did we.."
You both spoke at the same time. Clearly neither of you remembering the night before. You smiled, he smiled, before you both burst out laughing.
"Fucking hell, how wasted were we? We can't even remember if we had sex or not? I've NEVER been that drunk.. listen I'm sorry, this isn't exactly a great morning after huh?" He took a sip of his coffee, blushing slightly.
"Hey this is not something I do regularly okay.." he shook his head agreeing, neither did he.
"Cillian." He offered you his hand to shake, still smirking. "Listen if you can't remember if we had sex, you definitely can't remember my name..." Your turn to blush now.
"Y/n. And no. I definitely don't remember. But if it makes you feel any better, I'm still fully clothed? I don't think we had sex then redressed, do you?" You laughed, showing him you were still wearing the top and jeans you had on last night.
The pair of you laughed in relief.. eyes meeting again as the tension finally left the room.
"I can drive you home whenever you're ready y/n. If you need to get back?" Cillian offered.
"Erm.. oh yeah.. that'd be great, thank you.. listen, would it be cheeky to ask for a shower, or..."
"Hey, no not at all! Just through there," he pointed to his en suite. "I'll fetch you a towel, take your time."
You smiled. Those beautiful blue eyes were captivating you completely, you couldn't drag your own eyes away. He couldn't take his own from yours either, that tension was back, but it was a different kind of tension this time. Neither of you could remember how you got here, but neither of you minded that it had happened.
"You.. I'll go have that shower, yeah?" You moved to stand but stumbled slightly, landing closer to Cillian. He didn't move. Your face was now a mere few inches from his. Those eyes, once again never leaving yours. Your core burned, glancing down you saw the obvious excitement in his trousers, causing you to groan quietly.
He leaned in slowly, lips brushing yours carefully. You couldn't stop yourself kissing him back, within seconds the kiss becoming heated, tongues colliding. He leaned you back down onto the bed, moving his body to cover your own. You couldn't stop yourself, it was as if you were moving in autopilot, everything inside your core was on fire, demanding more of this incredible man immediately.
He stopped kissing you and hovered over your face, rubbing his nose against yours.
"Are you sure about this y/n?" You nodded, and kissed him again hungrily, parting your legs as he fell between them, grinding his own hips against yours. You could feel his hard-on, and you bucked your hips against his.
"Please... Don't stop now... I need this.. even if I never see you again after this Cill, just let me.."
"Baby I don't do one night stands... I'm taking you for breakfast as soon as we're done. Deal?" You smiled, no that was probably a grin. Breakfast sounded damn good right now, but not as good as he'd feel buried inside you.
"Deal. Now fuck me.. please?"
"Your wish is my command." Clothes removed, he grabbed a condom from his jeans pocket (Adam bought them the night before, he remembered that part at least, him slipping a couple into his jeans pocket as Cillian protested he wasn't going to sleep with anyone that night anyway...) Slipping it on, he pushed himself inside you, filling you completely.
"Fuck... Cillian that's fucking it..." You raised your hips with each thrust, he buried his face into your neck, biting the skin and sucking it slightly. You could hear him moaning into your collarbone.
"Shit you feel good... So fucking tight y/n..."
"Harder... Cillian, harder..." Your nails scratched down his back - if he was marking you, you were absolutely marking him in return. His thrusts now came hard and fast, as your walls clenched around him, your body finding that sweet release you needed, you hands pulling his hair hard. He came immediately after you, with a low moan into your hair as he pulled it in return, both of you panting trying to catch your breath.
"Shit me... I wasn't expecting that.." Cillian eased himself out, catching the condom before throwing it on the floor by the bed. Collapsing next to you, he turned to face you.
"I'm sorry... I don't even know you and I'm fucking you.. this isn't me y/n, I mean it, I don't do this, I've NEVER done this before."
"Hey, you've never had a one time thing? Seriously?"
"I was married for 20years until last night y/n!" He laughed, causing you to smile too. Suddenly your smile dropped a little.
"How old are you? If you don't mind me asking.."
"42. You?"
"If I tell you, don't freak out yeah?"
"Y/n I know you're younger okay, just tell me. It's okay."
"24." His eyes widened, was that in horror? Shock? Disgust? You couldn't tell but it didn't look good...
"24?? Shit me... The press are gonna have a field day with this..." You sat up, suddenly extremely self conscious. Age was never an issue for you, you actually preferred an older man, but it clearly bothered him.
"The press?" You asked, confused. "Why on earth would they be bothered?"
Cillian looked at you. You looked back at him completely deadpan. Shit, you were serious.
"Google me. Cillian Murphy." You reached into your jeans pocket for your phone and typed his name.
"Oh shit..."
**********************************
"Y/n, you still with me?" Cillians voice floated through the screen, knocking you from your daydream. Filming over in England for Peaky Blinders, Skype calls were your norm now.
"What? Shit sorry, baby, I was in a world of my own then! What did you say?"
"I asked if that delivery had arrived from Amazon, those books I ordered? You ok?"
"What books? Oh, those.. erm yeah I think so, something arrived for you earlier anyway, I left it on the kitchen side for you for when you get home next week. At least I think I did..."
"What's going on with you? Are you okay? You haven't been yourself for a few days now, forgetting things? You left your keys at work the other day, your phone in your friend's car.. what's going on?" Truth be told, you had no idea. Since your chest infection four months ago, you'd lost the ability to adult. You and Cillian had moved into a new home on the outskirts of Dublin 4 months ago, that morning after being the start of a blossoming romance, that led to you moving in together within the space of 6 months. Everyone had something to say, especially his ex wife who was still telling everyone who'd listen that you were obviously sleeping together while Cillian was still married, obviously he traded her in for a younger model, obviously blah, blah, blah... Never mind the fact that SHE cheated on HIM, no mention of that... Luckily your friends and family saw past all of it, and welcomed the new relationship - seeing how good you two fitted together, it wasn't hard to see why. You were the gin to his tonic, exactly what you both needed without you knowing you needed it. But these last few months, you'd felt completely spaced out - not even you could deny it.
"That chest infection really knocked the wind out my sales Cill, I haven't been right since! My mind's gone to absolute mush! Maybe I'm just run down, I've got the rest of the week off now so I'll get some rest, I promise."
"Maybe book a doctor's appointment y/n, you should be over this by now, you took all your antibiotics, yeah?"
"Yep, every one, right on time. Babe I'm so tired! I can't explain it!"
"Hit the sack babe, get an early one. I'll call you tomorrow. Don't forget to make that appointment okay?" You agreed, eyes growing heavy. You told each other I love you before closing the call and heading straight to bed.
You left the doctor's appointment the following day with tears in your eyes. This couldn't be happening... You took out your phone to call Serena, your best friend.
Approaching her front door, she opened it and immediately held you as sobs racked your body. Taking you inside away from any prying paparazzi, she put the kettle on.
"He's gonna kill me Serena... This isn't supposed to happen! We agreed - this wasn't part of our plan!! What am I going to do? How could I have been so stupid?"
"This isn't your fault y/n.. and he is not going to kill you, okay?" Nausea overcame you and you ran to her downstairs toilet, your breakfast evacuating violently into the toilet bowl. Serena made you a glass of water. Your phone vibrated, Cillian's name appearing on the screen. You ignored it. Again. Three times he'd called, three times you ignored it.
"You have to tell him sooner or later, y/n..." Serena was at the door, glass of water in hand.
"How? How exactly do I tell the man who is adamant he wants no more children that I'm fucking pregnant Serena? And I'm already 13 weeks gone? How did I not know?" Sobs overcame you again, your phone vibrating a fourth time. This time, a voicemail was left. Shakily, you listened to it.
"Y/n what the fuck? Call me. Call me right now." He didn't sound happy - from just a few missed calls, that was a bit extreme! Once you'd calmed down, Serena left you alone in her kitchen while you called him back via WhatsApp, hands still shaking.
"Baby, what's going on?? Paul's just shown me a photo on Twitter of you leaving the doctors with tears in you eyes, what the hell is happening?" You cursed yourself.. fucking photographers everywhere!
"Babe, are you alone? And sitting down? Put your phone on video call." He did as you asked and you saw his panic-stricken face fill the screen as you settled your phone on the counter. He saw your pale, tear-stained face and turned a shade of white.
"Y/n what is it?"
"I went to the doctor's -"
"I know that, y/n..."
"Look, this is easier if you don't interrupt me, yeah?" He nodded an apology and sat back, arms folded. "So that chest infection.. I had to take antibiotics. And it would appear that antibiotics... Well.. they render the pill completely useless and -" his eyes widened as he listened to you.
"The fuck are you saying y/n?"
"I'm pregnant, Cillian. 13 weeks." You closed your eyes, waiting for him to scream at you. Shout at you. Curse you. But he said nothing. Silence. Complete radio silence. You opened your eyes, tears threatening to fall any second. "Well fucking say something Cill!"
"I... I don't... Fuck y/n... This is a joke, right? You're joking? It's April 1st and you're having me on, yeah?"
"No, Cillian, it's July 15th and I am not FUCKING JOKING!!" The tears fell freely now, how much of an arsehole could he be. You saw him stand up and walk across the room out of view and your tears fell harder. Serena re-entered the room hearing your sobs but you waved her back. Composing yourself..
"Cillian... Cillian are you still there? Cillian?!" He came back into view and sat back down, eyes wet. He was crying.
"I'm sorry.. baby I'm sorry I didn't mean.." choking his words, so many emotions running through his mind. Another wave of nausea saw you suddenly dash out of view to throw up in the toilet again. All he saw was you run.
"Y/n?? Baby?? Where you going??" Serena came into view.
"Cill she's fine - it's morning sickness. She's okay don't worry." Cillian breathed a sigh of relief seeing your best friend there, at least you weren't alone.
"Listen, go take care of her yeah, tell her to call me when she's feeling okay.. and tell her I love her. We'll be okay. Everything will be okay, I promise." Serena smiled, nodding her head, ending the call, making her way back to you, still wretching into the bowl.
*************************************
"How are you feeling?" Cillians voice helped to ease the pain. Your morning sickness had subsided, at least for the last couple of days. Your bump appeared out of nowhere once you'd found out you were pregnant, but with the sudden change in your body came changes you really didn't appreciate - your pelvis was agony. Since you hit the 7 month mark, it felt like it was on fire daily.
"Like dogshit. Like my hips want to cripple me. This is hell Cillian, I miss you so much!" You started to cry again, Cillian feeling completely helpless. He'd already missed so much of this precious time filming, neither of you able to come home or visit due to Covid restrictions and y/n having a high risk pregnancy. Severe morning sickness, coupled now with severe pelvic girdle pain, doctors had signed you off on sick until your maternity leave kicked in in 6 weeks time. You couldn't walk now without crutches, relying on friends and family to bring you groceries. You were beginning to resent your own baby, which made you feel even worse.
"I'm on the first flight home tomorrow morning, we wrapped filming up a month early so I could come home sooner. I wanted to surprise you, but I'm shit at surprises!" He chuckled, causing you to giggle too. You perked up, still lay on the sofa like a bloated whale but at least you were smiling now.
"Really? You'll be home tomorrow?"
"Flight lands at 7am. I'll be home by 7:45. And I'm not going anywhere, y/n, I've cleared my schedule. Nothing coming up, no press, no interviews, I'm completely yours and the baby's for the foreseeable future. I promise." Tears fell again, but this time, happy ones. He'd be home in less than 12 hours. One more sleep, and he'd be home.
*************************************
"Come on y/n... You can do this!" You gripped Cillians hand hard as another contraction rippled painfully across your abdomen. Why the fuck did you refuse the epidural? What the hell were you thinking??
"I can't... I can't do it... Cillian I've been doing this for hours I can't..... Aaaaahhhhhh!" You screamed as your body took over and you bore down. The midwife ordering you to push.
"You can, you can baby, come on... She's nearly here! So close now, just a little longer..." He breathed with you, patting your head with a cold flannel to cool you down. Another contraction, another push...
Suddenly the room erupted with a baby's loud cry, swiftly followed by your own. Cillians eyes watered as your daughter was lifted in the air, still attached by the umbilical cord. Cillian cut it, taking your daughter into his arms. It was already decided he would hold your baby first, after all, you'd been carrying her for 9 months! You choked, seeing him holding your baby for the first time, as he carried her over to you to hold to your chest.
"She's here... She's beautiful.. look at her eyes Cillian!" Ocean blue, just like his.
"She has your nose y/n... My god she's perfect..." He kissed your head gently, openly sobbing now and not caring in the slightest. He thanked you. He thanked you for bringing his daughter safely into the world, for going through hell during the worst pregnancy you could've imagined..
"All worth it... Every second.. but I'm never doing this again Cillian.. I mean it, never again." You glared at him then at the scissors on the table, then down at his groin.
"Fuck off, y/n, I'm not having anyone snipping anything down there..."
"Looks like a life of celibacy then Murphy, that's the only logical conclusion."
"I'll book an appointment next week." You smirked. Very rarely did you not get your own way, and now he had two girls against him, he knew he'd never get his OWN way ever again.
And he wouldn't have it any other way.
