I am a huge high cloud quintet enjoyer so it may surprise you to learn that I absolutely hate the quest “Clouds Leave No Trace”.

let me explain. I will admit that a lot of it stems from my issues with Jingliu as a character. I appreciate that she’s meant to be cold and detached, but what bothers me is that although she says considers herself to be a sinner alongside Yingxing and Dan Feng, she constantly acts like she’s better than them, criticising them, acting as if their choice was an easy one while hers wasn’t. Her humility feels incredibly insincere, and she becomes very difficult to empathise with as a result.

then there’s the quest itself. I split it into three parts.

one: redundant infodumping

For the first part of the quest, Jingliu, Dan Heng and Yanqing travel to different parts of the Luofu so Jingliu can bid farewell to her past home. It’s basically a plot device for her to drop some lore about Yingxing and Baiheng, which is fine on its own, but the problem is, none of the information she gives is new. All of it was stuff we could already figure out from character stories and other in-game text.

the second issue with this part of the quest is Dan Heng’s presence, or rather, lack of it. Considering he’s the main character tying the quintet subplot into the main story, you’d think he’d be important to the quest focussed on them. But he’s just… there. He says and does pretty much nothing. You could cut him from the whole quest and it wouldn’t be any different.

In fact, Dan Heng also suffers greatly from the timing of the quest. If we look at the voice lines for IL, it’s obvious that he’s a snapshot of Dan Heng shortly after this quest, since he knows Blade is the one who made Cloudpiercer. Ichor Of Two Dragons also seems to take place at the end of this quest. This is an issue because both release in version 1.3, making the quest which takes place in version 1.4 feel like a regression in his character development when actually the story was for some reason out of order.

part 2: Dan Feng gets mischaracterised to hell and back

This is the worst part of the quest by far. Jingliu does her self-righteous monologue and nails the coffin shut by giving the most biased description possible of the Sedition.

she first says that Dan Feng was trying to revive Baiheng. Dan Heng’s and Jingliu’s character stories reveal that this is probably not the case, and that his actual goal was to create another high elder,

she also says that the reason Dan Feng did what he did was selfishness and an inability to accept Baiheng’s death. She fails to mention the fact that the Xianzhou treated him like a convenient weapon instead of an actual person, that he hated how many innocent people died in the war between Aeons, that his people were going extinct because of said war, that he hated how he gave the Xianzhou the power to cause so much death, that he had probably attempted less dramatic rebellions in his past lives to no avail, that the high elder succession was incredibly screwed up and he didn’t want to have to pass that burden on to his next incarnation (granted that lasts part’s only implicit). Not to mention that she didn’t actually bear witness to any of the events she described, only the aftermath.

part 3: Blade monologue

This is the only redeeming quality of the entire quest

he acknowledges that Dan Feng and Yingxing weren’t simply upset with Baiheng’s death, but with the unfairness of everything in general

he expresses genuine regret

and the way he looks up to Jingliu after she tortured him is the only time where that story genuinely presents her as someone who’s done terrible things, showing how she managed to break Blade so badly that he feels thankful for it

in conclusion, do not play this quest if you want to actually understand Dan Feng as a character

Mingi and Y/n strolled hand in hand down the bustling streets of Seoul, enjoying the warm summer afternoon. The sun was shining, a slight breeze rustled through the trees, and the city was filled with a sense of vibrant energy.

As they walked, Mingi couldn't help but sneak glances at Y/n, admiring her pretty face and how her hair fluttered in the breeze. He was again struck by how lucky he was to have her by his side.

Y/n noticed him looking at her and gave him a soft smile. "What are you staring at?" she asked, her eyes sparkling mischievously.

Mingi chuckled and squeezed her hand. "Can you blame me for staring?" he replied, a flirtatious note in his voice. "You're just so beautiful, it's hard not to."

Y/n blushed at his words and nudged him playfully. "You're just saying that because you're biased," she said, attempting to keep her voice light and teasing.

Mingi feigned offense. "Biased?" he said, pretending to be deeply wounded. "I'll have you know I am entirely objective when it comes to commenting on your beauty."

Y/n laughed at his cheeky tone. "Oh, please. You're about as objective as a judge at a puppy beauty competition," she teased.

Mingi feigned another hurt gasp, pretending to clutch his chest. "You wound me, truly," he said, his eyes sparkling with joy. "But seriously, is it so wrong for me to think you're the most beautiful person in the world? I just call it like I see it."

Y/n rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips. "You're ridiculous," she said, giving him a lighthearted swat on the arm. "But I suppose I should be flattered that you think so highly of me."

Mingi laughed and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Flattered is just the tip of the iceberg," he said, pulling her closer to him. "I'm downright smitten with you."

Y/n's cheeks flushed pink again at his words, but she tried to maintain her composure. "Oh, now you're just laying it on thick," she said, ducking her head to hide her smile.

Mingi laughed again, enjoying the flush on her cheeks. "Maybe I am," he admitted, "but it's only because you make it so easy. You're just too damn cute when you get flustered."

Y/n huffed and tried to swat him again, but he just dodged out of the way with a grin. "You're insufferable, you know that?" she said, unable to keep the fondness out of her voice.

"Insufferably charming, you mean," Mingi corrected her, raising an eyebrow cockily. "And you love it, don't lie."

Y/n rolled her eyes again, but she couldn't deny the truth of his words. "Maybe a little," she admitted. "But don't let it go to your head, Mr. Cocky."

"Too late," Mingi replied with a wink. "My ego is already sky-high, and it's all your fault."

Y/n shook her head, trying (and failing) to suppress a laugh. "You're impossible," she said, but there was no heat behind the words.

"But you love me anyway," Mingi said, smiling smugly.

Y/n rolled her eyes yet again, but there was no denying the affection in her expression. "Yeah, yeah, shut up," she grumbled, even as she leaned into his side.

As the sun began to set, Mingi and Y/n continued strolling through the city, enjoying each other's company. They laughed, joked, and occasionally stopped to share a tender moment or two.

As the sky turned a deep orange, Mingi stopped and turned to face Y/n, his expression growing serious. "Hey," he said softly, taking both of her hands in his. "Can I ask you something?"

Y/n blinked, a bit surprised by the sudden change in his tone. "Of course," she said, her gaze meeting his. "What is it?"

Mingi took a deep breath, his eyes locked on hers. "I just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me," he said, his voice earnest. "You've become my world, and I can't imagine my life without you in it."

Y/n's heart skipped a beat at his words, her cheeks flushing with emotion. "Mingi..." she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mingi took another step closer to her, his expression serious and intense. "I know we've only been together for a little while," he said, his voice dropping even lower. "But I don't care. I know what I feel, and what I want. And what I want is to spend the rest of my life with you."

Y/n's breath caught in her throat at his words, her heart fluttering wildly in her chest. "Mingi, are you...are you proposing to me right now?" she whispered, her eyes wide.

Mingi's lips curved into a small smile, and he nodded. "I guess I am," he said, his voice soft but sure. "I don't have a ring or anything yet, but I just couldn't wait any longer to ask you. So, Y/n...will you marry me?"

Y/n stared at him for a moment, her mind reeling with a million thoughts. But then she smiled a wide, radiant smile that lit up her face. "Yes," she said, her voice shaking with emotion. "Yes, of course, I'll marry you, Mingi."

Not just asking, but actually begging for you to elaborate on the narratives 👀😭

Ok so aerin frankel. She was picked up by Boston during free agency she’s obviously a great goalkeeper, patty kazmaier winner, national team goalie etc etc, but in her first game against Minnesota, January third, first Boston game, she’s faced 0 shots, it’s not even 5 minutes into the game, Taylor Heise shoots and scores unassisted which isn’t exactly confidence inducing. I mean that means at that moment in time she has a save percentage of 0 which is not really what you want out of a goalie. But it’s ok. It’s just one shot, one goal, she’ll get the next one, right? She does not in fact get the next one. Less than 4 minutes later Sophia Kunin scores before they’ve even reached halfway through the first period which is not great categorically. The commentator chalks it up to her being used to facing the college level and this being a quicker game at the pro level. It might be unfair, but whatever the case, she did struggle that game. It was a rough start to the season, and probably not the foot she wanted to get off on. Who knows if it was struggling with the speed or nerves or whatever but she comes back with a vengeance, recording her first shutout two games later and putting up some pretty impressive save percentages. She continues to do well for herself, not doing much to be a topic of conversation one way or another and people kind of stop talking. She has a few notable games, including the one where she made 41 saves to shut out Minnesota, but there are bigger things going on in the league. And then after the international she just lights up. It helps that the team lights up, but i really remember just watching her play and even announcers and other people take notice bc whatever she had issue with that first game is just so far gone. She’s an absolute menace in the crease and is no small part of the reason Boston was able to get its way into the playoffs. Come the playoffs I’m fairly certain she’s just ascended to a different level than the rest of us mortals. She breaks the record for most saves the first game, being the sole reason Boston comes away with that because Montreal heavily outshot them, and then she does it again!!! She plays 111 minutes in a single game and comes out of the series with 141 saves in three games, which is positively absurd! I am absolutely biased but think she should in fact be a shoe in for goalie of the year because no one is doing it like her and she’s doing wonderfully and i love her <33

Drabble/meta request: how did the rest of hameron date go after house's speech? What else did they talk about rest of the evening? Did cameron really go home and cried on her pillow like foreman said?

i don't know if i have the drabble in me, but meta? i actually love talking about this insane date let's go.

so the thing is, house really did give it an honest shot. he really was trying, you know? he dressed up, he got a corsage, he took all the advice given to him: wear the blue shirt, compliment cameron's earrings… i think it's intentionally ambiguous what he thought about all this; on some level house really was attracted to her and likes her, but as cuddy proves, house will gladly go for years with a crush and no intention on acting on it. but i think the date was in good faith. maybe (most likely) he didn't want a relationship with her, but… he's curious. maybe he wants to see what it would be like, a little bit.

aaaaaand cameron promptly ruins it, lol. cameron is actually, generally, pretty good at seeing through house. she's more aware than most that he has a facade and there is great pain behind that facade, and she often calls him on just that — and house, i think, definitely appreciates that about her. her problem is that i think cameron also tends to over-read what she sees: she knows house is damaged, but she assumes she can fix it, that there's a soft core ready to be fixed. she sees that house does treat her differently from the guys, does treat her kindly, and jumps straight to "he is in love with me." she's… biased, lol. she reads what she wants to read. so she sees this whole date as house finally admitting he likes me (because why would he agree to date her and want her back if he didn't?), and she goes in confident and ready to prove she Knows Him and Understands Him and Sees Him……………with freud.

house doesn't like being told how he feels anyway, and i think it's no wonder this shuts the whole date down: cameron is telling him how he feels, but also, no matter what you say, i am going to read it how i want. there's no ambiguity or discussion. if she'd sat down and said "why did you want me back so badly? i think it means you care," house might have admitted it. instead she said "i have you dead to rights, and i want you to know it." she will always see him in a specific way, and always want to pin him in that little box. cameron does this a lot, actually. she's immensely empathetic, but she also tends to make snap judgements — this person is bad, this person is good, this person needs my help — and struggles to change her mind. she sees house as a broken person she can fix. she sees him as someone who is in love with her no matter what. and house is nothing else.

so, i think her little speech basically ended the date. not literally. because i think cameron would refuse to leave or run away, because that would be admitting house is right about her (although the look on her face suggests she knows he has her). so i think she stuck out that entire dinner. and i think house was mostly silent, because i think he probably was kind of disappointed — he wanted to maybe like cameron — and this isn't the the sort of scenario where he'd really dig in and be cruel (unless cameron tried to argue her case again, which… i don't think she would). and then i think she went home and maybe did have a cry, probably just lay awake for a long time, and came into work visibly exhausted and red-eyed for the boys's enjoyment. (i think she was absolutely lying when she said they had a great dinner making fun of the guys etc. — no way cameron stops being upset long enough for that, even though house probably would have been game)

I like that it's silly and also because it gives Brain more of a spotlight, also it confirmed a few of my lesser headcanons (Spook can play the drums and Brain likes rats) also The Rap for their costumes (specifically Spook's and Brain's they slay) also Spook's voice is very gruff in BHC and so now I have a REAL reason to make his voice a little gravelly/give him a little growl when he talks whenever I read a dialogue from him other than just because I want to

However the PACING OH MY GOD THE PACING 😭 some of the movie just drags and the dialogue feels clunky sometimes, also the visuals look dirty if that makes sense? Everything's a strange color y'know? Also The Rap because it's so poorly composed and it makes me die a little. Also Amy Vandergelt fuck Amy Vandergelt all my homies hate Amy Vandergelt. Also Dibble didn't really feel like Dibble y'know like he was oddly mean and (extra) dense like 😭

Top Cat: The Movie:

I am inherently biased because this is a movie from my childhood I was FUCKING OBSESSED with it and would watch it every day once I got home from school in 4th grade and I still remember a dream I had about it years ago and I'm pretty sure I put Spook into a story I had to write for class 😭 it's how I got into Top Cat in the first place so I hold The Movie very near and dear to my heart anyways I really love that it legitimately feels like Anima Estudios put a lot of love into it and like they made a genuine effort to make it feel like OG even if they fell short. Also THE ARTSTYLE I WOULD FUCKING KILL TO GET A REBOOT IN THE STYLE OF THE MOVIE ARARAR GEOMETRIC ARTSTYLES EATS A BRICK anyways also Trixie, they could never make me hate you Trixie (I need to draw her more) also the robots are funny as fuck for no reason

While I still think people greatly exaggerated how bad the movie was, I can kinda understand where they're coming from because the plot holes are ABYSMAL OMG 💀 also fucking Rob Schneider is Strickland in the British dub which is immediately awful, also not as awful but Dibble doesn't feel nearly as like strict or intimidating as he did before and I think that's mostly because of the voice they gave him, it's very squeaky. Also I feel like Strickland could work as a good antagonist but I feel like they leaned into the 'oh I'm so handsome I'm the prettiest in the world' thing too hard and it just made him feel really annoying and not like an actual threat at all, also naturally the flanderization of Brain (Anima Estudios must've had beef with him or something cos they did him even more dirty in Begins)

Top Cat Begins:

To be completely Frank, to be completely David even, there's really not that much I like about Begins other than Hellcat Spook (naturally). I mean I like Furletta Duchat because she's purdy and Dib's grandmother (Grambo) because she's fucking insane. Chooch's little waddle of a walk. OH I actually REALLY like Mr. Big as a villain. He's an actual threat to T.C. and the gang and his design, voice, and behavior is actually intimidating and probably the best crafted out of any of the new characters in Begins (also his model isn't fugly like most of the rest of them). If a new movie or series ever gets made I hope he makes a return even just as like a minor villain. Tbh I'm trying to think of who the worst offender is and tbh it's almost all of them but I will say that Benny and Spook look the best, Fancy isn't ugly but he doesn't really look like Fancy, (same with Dibble) and ig T.C. isn't bad but he's not good. Brain and Chooch though what did they do to my lads. Chooch has gingivitis and lacks fangs (actually all of them lack fangs except for T.C. and Benny which I think is especially offensive) and Brain's model is built in such a way where any mouth movement he makes looks FUCKED UP. Also his eyes are really small and so are his ears and his proportions are generally fucked.

Anyways models aside I think this is kind of a dogshit origin story for the gang. Making T.C. and Benny meet Fancy, Chooch, and Brain all at the same time only to not see them for the next 45 minutes was real fuckin lame-o and lazy and they also retconned that whole thing where T.C. and Benny were in Boy Scouts together which I really didn't appreciate. Also could've stood to have moar Spook in the movie instead of him being a deus ex machina and having LESS THAN TEN MINUTES OF SCREENTIME, like shit dawg. Also I always thought it was lame that he was just the pizza guy and not ACTUALLY involved with Mr. Big y'know? Also he's got a bit of a plot hole where he's like 'why should I stick my neck out for you' and then legit like 2 minutes later he's like 'i've been following you around so we can join forces' like ok bro if that was the case you would've just pulled them up and not've done that whole thing where you made it seem like you would've left them there but alright dawg. In my opinion I would've had it where Mr. Big sends out Spook to find them and follow them around after they lose their tracks of them and then when they escape Spook's grasp THEN Mr. Big fucks up Eleanore. But the games rnt boring - if they win like 7-0 great I get to see my team play pretty cool football;

If they win by 1 or 2 or if it’s not a clean sheet then I can say that we’ve played not the best and I recognise that the teams not played at their highest level

I also can appreciate the other teams defence and chances (if it’s a “low scoring game” I can recognise that the other teams defence is really good; if there are a few chances for the opposition I can recognise their creativity or our good defence in shutting them down) if that makes any sense

I also like seeing the “babies” play and the squad rotation (if there is any ahahaha) and tryna work out tactics and stuff

I think a lot of Barca fans recognise when the team doesn’t play at their best even if it is a win

first off i want to make it abundantly clear that me saying that the games are boring doesn’t mean i want barca to play half arsed. my opinions come from a place of frustration that the other teams can’t keep up. in no world would i want a team to take their foot off the gas just to make things fairer

however i will say that if a team has to give themselves individual player goals for each game, (as per the information from laia cervello herrero. not sure show reliable she is but anyway) then to me that means that the team already know they’re gonna win. having to work towards other targets to make it interesting for their own players , in my opinion, is a little dull

barca are a world class team and it’s so great that they have the ability and quality to do so well, but unless it’s a champions league game there’s legit no risk to their success because they are miles better than everyone else in liga f. a good game for me isn’t just racking up the goals. and yes they do play beautiful football but again, it’s not just about skills on the ball like you said, tactics are big. But it’s rare they have to use them in terms of having to break the other team down for example. Its seams like it’s just for rotation purposes from what ive seen

if my team could win like barca would then id be buzzing but that also doesn’t mean they’re fun games to watch. the best type of win is an unexpected one, to me at least

akasaka, kana arima is your best character i promise >n<

this is part 2 of an rant about my gripes with the oshi no ko manga. you can find part one on my blog but the short version is that akasaka seems like he doesnt like oshi no ko anymore and has been fucking quick-shotting the most important story beats of the entire narrative and it sucks that all of this build up is being wasted like this.

my second main gripe that kind of ties into the first is that kana arima and to some extent akane feel like they got hit by this the most. it's disappointing because akasaka i feel like makes pretty tightly written women esp compared to a lot of popular mangaka. love is war, a romance story, a very heterosexual romance story, has the most internally-consistent and independent women ive seen in most manga. he can do it! and while oshi no ko was always going to have some weird love triangle shit between akane, kana, and aqua, it should have gotten a pass for how well it would have tied into their broader character arcs.

the problem is that i feel like a lot of things about kana and akane's characters should have been shuffled around: their roles in the story, the events that happen to them, and their involvement with aqua. specifically, i think its bullshit that akane is the one who has the most involvement with aqua's revenge, and NOT kana. once again i am biased because kana is my favorite character and i think she's the best written, but also once again i will explain myself! first, comparing kana and akane. kana was always the bigger skeptic of the two; she's more cynical and seems a lot more familiar with the nitty-gritty of the industry having been a part of the more toxic-parts herself thanks to her upbringing, and thus knows how to navigate around it and would know how to sniff out BS.

akane's home base is theater and live-performance, a community she has a lot of support and connections in. but as we've seen, she's out of her depth when it comes to the film acting community, and had a really bad experience onboarding. her disposition makes it feel like while she would have poked and prodded at aqua being the daughter of ai hoshino, she should have kept her distance. she was driven to attempting suicide by people getting pissed over a fake controversy surrounding her looking like she didnt get along with her coworkers, why would she want to be involved with the very real controversy of the top idol's kids?

maybe i'm too stupid to see why it makes sense for her to get her head in so deep but it feels like akasaka wanted to do a "look at this cool, shy character. you think she's some beta who is too weak to be involved in the murder mystery but she's actually a HOT, CALCULATING, YANDERE MASTERMIND who would do anything for her bf <333" like come the fuck on. this isn't a dig against her (it's actually a dig against aka hehehe) cuz i like her and she has so many interesting things going for her like her talent for acting and her push-and-pull friendship with kana.

and speaking of which, kana! what if SHE was the one to get involved with aquas revenge? she's already disposed for it; she's more cynical and more skeptical, and likely would have made the connection on aqua HOSHINO being the diva's daughter without having to stalk her background and act out her life in order to figure it out. she would likely also get farther in the investigation as someone already involved in the film, acting, AND idol industry. and it would have been a great opportunity for her and aqua's tragic love to grow closer and fracture more violently!

but the biggest case for this is arcs. akane's character arc is, i'd argue a shut-and-done case by the time she enters aqua's revenge plot. most of her problems after her run-in with being cancelled revolve around her unrequited love for aqua, something that - i'm sorry - is not super compelling. the chance for everything that they went through to happen with kana is right there and would have been infinitely more interesting since aqua actually LOVES kana in that way. not that it has to happen - i know that aqua's whole thing is keeping his distance from the people he loves, but i think in this case him getting with akane is ultimately a waste of our time as an audience as much as it is for both of them. especially since when akane is not concerned with aqua, her role in the story is to give other characters cryptic advice in a very "im more experienced, grounded, and reasonable than you" way. she doesn't have problems unless you count aqua as a "problem" >u> once again i don't necessarily think it's a bad thing and i think it's good that there are stories where a big arc gets resolved early and said character just meshes well with others in the story later, it's just that once again the romance feels super forced because aka just needs to have his Blue Hair and Yandere cute gf character rizz up our pathetic boy mc 0~0

compared to kana, aqua's revenge arc lines up with her arc perfectly and they would bounce off of each other so well if it was allowed to happen! she'd probably keep her distance as her tendency is to avoid risk the moment she makes the ai hoshino connection, but would eventually onboard herself the moment she realizes that this too could be a way to support aqua not just as an actress but as a dear friend. aqua would ACTUALLY try to push her away seeing as she's not as crazy as akane and they would fight over how much she knows and is trying to do. something would happen - kana would be way in over her head, kamiki could make an attempt on her life, aqua blows up, in any case kana would realize she needs to look after herself more, paralleling her realizing that she can shine by herself as a genius actress while also lifting up the people around her like the star ai never got to be. this, in turn, would make aqua realize the fruitlessness of his revenge as he's pushing away the people he loves, the people he wont let into his heart out of fear of them getting hurt and his own inability to let himself be happy out of his "duty."

hell, there's still room for "lies is love" to be a theme here! kana could lie about just how much she actually knows as much as aqua could lie about how much he doesn't want her around. there's so much that could be done here that just makes more sense, but instead everything about kana feels like it was done in the wrong order. why does her lowest point come AFTER her beef with akane during the play arc where she learns to love acting for herself again? furthermore, why does she still like aqua and want to get close to him in the one chapter when he laughs and acts like he doesnt actually care afterwards? if akasaka wants to show aqua having self-destructive tendencies, then there should be destruction! there should be consequences; this is not the time for kana to be distancing herself from aqua because of her insecurities, but because aqua is fucking unstable and treating her like shit. the story wanting to have its cake (aqua being a lil shit) and eat it too (kana still simping for him) is. uh. not good, and i dont like it!

these decisions leave kana feeling super listless, changing a lot while not moving anywhere, and make aqua look like more of a dick than he actually is and needs to be. you can make the arguments that kana not being successful or growing is representative of how harsh the idol industry is or aqua keeping her out of the dark being a part of his character, and like. sure. maybe it's just me but i dont think that's an excuse; it just makes the story boring and a little too bleak for what it is. as much as oshi no ko is a scathing look at the corruption of idol culture, it also very much loves idols and entertainment as a whole, and shows what it could be like if people understood each other and weren't just in it for their own egos or money. seeing our main characters, the people were supposed to root for, being forced into increasingly bad places, forced to make shit decisions all the time just doesn't feel good for everything else that happens.

i want to see kana grow more as an idol and as a person, and i want to see aqua both genuinely pay for his actions and learn how to come back from them. it sucks that the story seems to be validating him and ruby's revenge plot when it was setup from the beginning to be a bad idea. it feels like im getting pranked; was their revenge plot actually the morally good option for everyone involved after all? did i just misunderstand the entire story? i'm genuinely asking this, i'm not the best at analyzing the writing i love and i'd like another fan to call me out if i'm completely off base here. because right now i'm not liking what akasaka is cooking, and it's making me wish that major parts of this story were rewritten and useless plot happenings were instead given to more compelling storylines. instead of akane and aqua dating, we could have had 45510 worm its way in the story. the play arc could have happened later, and aqua and ruby's complicated relationship could have panned out longer. it could have been so good. it could have been!

alright time for the opinion post . I wanna start with a few things that won't need to be spoilered :

I strongly dislike the changes the graphical update did to mae & knew that would potentially sour the way I feel about dt & I was right. there were some angles that got me all "oh u know what I totally am on board with this!" & then the angle would change & I'd, in reallife, make a lil offended gasp bcs "ohh no. hate this ! hate this ! I want my wol back" this isn't in regards to mods. I just legit miss vanilla mae from pre-dt. miss their old lips (which are the biggest issue to me) miss their old eye shape, their face shape etc.

if you cannot handle someone critiquing something you love ( mind you that I love 14 too ) then this post is not for you. the amount of disgusting hate i saw towards people with legit critics of the expac is... baffling. the devs won't be able to grow if we just coddle them.

I still think ew should have been 2 expacs, to finish the arr-ew storyline better & set up the new one.

I have played with JP voices since HW because this was an actual advice back in the day. HW + its patches were not big enough yet to warrant having to listen to what ARR delivered. I also always watch at least one streamer play 14 with english VAs to get both experiences ! because yeah actually english gives you the proper feeling of scale & distance by having characters with accents. as far as I can tell right now I think all the DT voices are amazing

but I wanna start with stuff I liked / adored .

wu.k lam.at & ko.ana's family bond. I will forever be weak for chosen family bonds & they are soso cute. I love their personalities. I wanna see more of them.

In general the environmental story telling & the details they put into telling the stories of region was soso much better, loved it. I loved exploring the zones & noticing stuff or just talking to NPCs.

the end reveal with the key showing the az.em symbol made me giggle. I am sure it won't lead to a "oh so az.em fucked up" thing but it still amuses me to think they did.

happy kr.ile got character development, she really does deserve it & she is a lovely addition to the team.

erenvil.le, ko.ana & wu.k la.mat are among my faves now without a doubt.

the third & lvl 95 dungeon music slapped. actually when the music is good it's SO good.

t.uli.yollal is stunning, feels so lived in. I like spending time there & just zooming around. srsly the graphic update looks so good in environments & the DT ones are soso stunning. also best inn / tavern room we ever had. who needs housing i am staying in there !!!!

however a good base does not make a great game & overall the story was just. mid. it exists I guess. it feels so weirdly cut off from past expacs? like you tell me they didn't hear shit about anything ever? other continent or not how do you miss the final days I don't care if it was "contained to some places" that kinda stuff goes around.

I don't need the people to know the wo.l's name or look but come on you have heard of them + the sci.ons. I know ppl say "we don't need to always be the mc stop demanding that" ...sorry that in a game that I pay money for I want my character to be important. all our character does is nod sagely to give WL some confidence & half the time she isn't even looking. if i can write my character out within seconds & end up at pretty much the same point at the end then there was no point for us being there.

this legit felt a bit like them looking at what ppl adored at previous expa.cs, copying it & copying it worse. zone 6 ? this might be my biased but like changing it as we did? that should have been an amau.rot or elpi.s thing. at least that had impact. I only cared for one character in there & yes her memories being shut down was sad but like. kay.

I am sure it was not meant that way but man did that make me feel uncomfy as a Jewish person. especially the whole 'they used to be slaves now they are merchants adoring money' GUESS WHY SO MANY JEWS WERE MERCHANTS !! guess what was one of the few things they were allowed to do esp when romans took em along as slaves.

However in the same sense I did love the tradition of remembering the dead because that way nobody is really gone. Again I doubt SE planned that they accidentally nailed Jewish philosophy but that was fun.

I kept waiting for some big twist but no he's just another daddy issue guy. only that the story really wants me to believe his dad is great !! so caring !! ....can't fcking see his son's own issues. the guy who DEFINITELY knew about how fcked bless.ed siblings were & he can't see the strain that being called a "miracle" put on his kid? this is why i waited for some plottwist of ZJ having other plans all along.

also I am sorry "we had war 80 years ago people are too comfy with peace" ...that. that is within living memory especially with 14 races ! that was the worst motivation. at least stretch the time!!

sph.ene was actually fine I like her, it's just.............we had her. several times. hello there moe-fied as.cian ! hello there not-amau.rot. totally not. this is not copied homework. at all. it was just a narrated last dungeon once more telling us about how great things used to be until they weren't. it totally wasn't "person who was loved by their people got twisted to save them" this is all...so...new...

this is a nitpick & an amusing one but ere.nvilles accent just makes no sense anymore. they really just wrote smth & were like "screw established stuff from before" ( i don't remember if it's a quest detail or one of the extra published stories but they had to go back & rewrite smth bcs it contradicted DT )

which maybe is my biggest gripe with the story. unless they HAD to acknowledge smth from previous stuff they just. copied it - in a worse way, for me at least - or just ignored it which at times felt so insulting.

the scene with the sick kid? eh hello? fairly sure we fixed stuff like that. we can just go grab ali.saie later & bring ange.lo along--? i feel like in previous expacs wo.l at least would have mentioned that to sphe.ne but then stuff with ZJ goes wrong so it gets pushed aside (but it's at least on our mind & not a surprise when the solution appears randomly bcs I fear that just might happen)

....most of the scio.ns felt like they were forcefully written in just so we had full parties for trials.

minor dumb stuff that is very me specific: i don't like sol.ution 9. i don't like the aesthetic, the vibe. just i don't like it. didn't like the ending song either. felt very shou.nen isek.ai-ish it's just not my type of song.

...wu.k lam.at i love you but you are among the worst trust characters i ever encountered I am sobbing i dunno if this is supposed to reflect her personality or she is programmed that badly. I never struggled with a trust so much.

I don't mind the trope of "love & friendship will safe the day" but....again it was just done better in the past ( end of ew, drk story, stb why we went with ly.se & stuck by her, arr raids...just. it has been done better )

as much as this probably sounds like just hating in truth it was. absolutely an okay expac.........just very mid. we had better, we deserve better but this wasn't "the end of 14" like how some ppl act. it served its purpose & i so hope that as the story goes on we look back at it more fondly for setting stuff up. a severable start to a new story. probably. depends what the future brings. a 6/10 for me.

Continuing with the strong theme of “These women are all the same, deep down” having Misty making jokes to Shauna about how easily she kills and unintentionally offending her as she struggles with her strong desire not to kill the goat, next to Shauna calling Misty a serial killer and her whole spiral about it, contrasted with teen!Misty’s complete breakdown about the baby, Kristen and Coach, desperate not to have more blood on her hands, vs Shauna handling her grief through beating Lott to pieces, therapy through getting blood on her hands. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show do something quite like this before, especially with a character like Misty. Not quite a redemption arc, not quite a forgiveness, just... an empathy arc.

Shauna confirming that her unwillingness to connect to Callie comes down to a fear of losing her, a struggle to invest in people who may be taken away again, like Jackie, like the baby. Was pretty sure this was the case, especially after s2e6′s line ‘You try not to love them but of course you do.” Poor woman’s heart has been broken too much, and she just can’t handle it happening again, even at the cost of her own happiness and the love of her own family.

Misty’s so used to manipulating people, so used to getting what she needs with violence and threats. From the first minutes with Coach she’s pushing him away when she wants to be closer, her ruses and traps are obvious and toxic. She sees him try to kill himself and uses every tactic she can think of to stop him, and nothing works.

(sidenote: EVERYONE sees Misty as a vicious heartless killer, from adult!Shauna to the girls in the wilderness who assume she killed Kristen, to Coach who genuinely thinks that she can just push him off the ledge. No wonder so many in the fandom seem to as well.)

But what actually stops Coach, what pulls him back is a genuine display of her heart, a moment of that true connection that she so struggles to make. She actually opens herself up and even in his intensely stressed out state he can’t bring himself to hurt her like that. SO curious to see how their dynamic changes. Also incredibly surprised to see him survive the episode.

Tai just CAN’T stop being the one in charge, she immediately tries to solve Van’s unsolvable problem with some expert she knows, because of course HER doctor’s going to be better than anyone Van’s seen, is going to be a miracle worker, because she wants it to be that way. And the way that Van immediately shuts her down like, she’s mad but not at all surprised, she’s just exhausted and so used to it. There’s no point in pointing it out to Tai because it won’t help, and there’s no point arguing, she’s resigned and she doesn’t have time to waste on gordian knots anymore.

You could have definitely handled it better and shown more patience. The holidays are tough to organize everything around like you said and I get why he didn't want to see you with a cold sore but you escalated pretty quickly and I'm sure he realized that as well. He sensed your annoyance tried to save the situation and you shut him down. He's probably thinking "Okay, I like this girl but she's a major pain or high maintenance . Do I really want to deal with this in the long run?". I understand that you've had some damage in the past but people are people and no one is perfect. You don't HAVE to put up with anything but if you want to find someone you're going to have to give them a break every once in a while. You're more than welcome to have very high standards but good luck ever meeting someone that reaches them.

CAPTAIN HOOK - Does your muse have any triggers?

Malkuth does NOT respond well at all to two things- the first of which is harsh negativity. Going beyond just disappointment, talking down to her and making her seem small during heated disagreements will see the girl shutting down fast. Many took advantage of this in her earlier lives. She was too eager to please, and more or less a tool to those in dominant positions as a result. Thinking about that, and falling into those kinds of situations or causing trouble...

Well. You saw what almost happened with Current. That gives you an idea.

The other thing is is being othered. Left out. Ignored. She has bad abandonment issues and you'll see the cracks start to form if things are kept from her. She's left out of plans. Anxiety will build up. Did I miss up? What did I do wrong? Am I just annoying them?

Another thing that could lead to an Episode.

EVIL QUEEN - What would your muse give up if it meant they could take revenge on their worst enemy?

In canon she was willing to give up her life twice trying to help others! But! Revenge on an enemy? I'm not sure she'd be willing to hold onto grudges like that. Malkuth doesn't like confrontation, as I said above- the worst bout of anger we see from her during Ruina is towards Angela on her awakening, a woman who manipulated many out of her OWN revenge.

But rather than turn she's willing to make amends, or try to, anyway. And see that things work towards a mutual benefit... yeah. Anyway. I don't think she'd be dramatic, and would rather a similar outcome with an enemy. At most, throw away morals of violence? But she won't sacrifice herself, or her friends, or anything like that-

Or her candle collection.

GOVERNOR RATCLIFFE - What would your muse do with unlimited gold?

Dogi travels light, and this tends to be the case regardless of the verse. He's not a materialistic sort of person outside of brief fleeting enjoyment of comfort and a fancy meal. So... I think with a ton of money he'd probably do one good splurge- try on fancy outfits and eat and drink the finest food money could buy and then...

...he'd probably be at a loss. The reason he explores and travels isn't for any monetary gain. Managing finances is the least of his worries. Even with his time as a thief, it was a Robin Hood sort of venture. Doing something for the little guy.

So guess where most of that money is going?

PRINCE HANS - How does the first impression your muse gives off differ from their true selves?

I want to think the impressions Dogi gives off are pretty consistent. You can say he's intimidating given how tall and huge he is, sure. But that can only last for like half a second since there's such a bright cheer about him. I think the only thing to really dig up outside of how he presents himself is that sheltered pessimism I beat like a dead horse (because it can get bad).

But really. You meet Dogi and know he's a good guy and someone you can count on in a lot of situations. The first encounters in the Ys games are typically him buddy buddy on an arrival, or busting through a wall to help you out with a big grin on his face. He opens his mouth to talk and I mean-- how can you not love him?!

I'm biased.

July 5: Block Party

The thing about dating Draco was that he was an unrelenting extrovert.

He loved having people around. He invited people over for tea, for lunch, for dinner, even breakfast on one memorable occasion (although, he was sure to never do that again without telling Harry beforehand, since Harry had walked into their kitchen in nothing but a pair of boxers. To say that Narcissa Malfoy had been shocked would be an understatement.)

Still, Harry loved him. He wouldn't trade Draco for the entire world, and so it was a thing they'd worked together on, something that they'd made compromises about.

Harry knew that his boyfriend was an extrovert who loved to entertain but it still surprised him when Draco informed him, over dinner, that their house was going to be the host site for the neighborhood block party.

"Excuse me?" Harry asked, certain that he couldn't have heard the other man correctly. "You can't be serious."

"Of course I am!" Draco said with a sniff as though he hadn't said anything ludicrous at all. "Our house makes the most sense," he added. "It's the center of the block, for starters, and we've got such a big yard. Everyone says we have the nicest yard for parties on the block," he added conspiratorially.

"Draco, we live in a neighborhood full of muggles!"

Draco blinked at him, "What's that got to do with anything? Honestly, Potter, you're the last person I expected to be biased against Muggles. All of this time that you've spent-"

"Draco!" he interrupted, "I'm not biased against muggles, we just live in a house where nearly everything is run by magic!"

"Well, aren't their's too?"

"Merlin help me," Harry said, putting his head in his hands. "No, Draco. Their houses are mostly powered by electricity."

"Will they notice, do you think?"

"That you make tea using a wand?" he asked. "That we don't have a refrigerator and keep all of our cold food in the cupboard?"

"Well, we do have lights like they have," he said, as though that cinched the argument.

He groaned, "Drac-"

"Please, Harry," he begged, lower lip protruding. "Please help me make our house look like a muggle home. I won't use any magic all night! I promise!"

He sighed, "Is it that important to you?"

"Yes," he said resolutely.

"Why?"

He picked at an invisible fuzz on his trousers.

"Draco-"

"Because Monica from two doors down was bragging about how gorgeous her house is! How it's the perfect location for the party. She's hosted it for years," he parrotted. "And she was being so nasty to everyone else, putting the whole neighborhood down really, and I-"

"Alright," Harry said, huffing a laugh, and covering Draco's hand with his own. "When is the party?"

"Friday?" he said with a wince.

Harry blew out a breath. They certainly had their work cut out for them.

Friday arrived and Harry had spent every minute of those three days muggle proofing their house. It looked pretty convincing as far as Harry could tell and he'd even had Ron and Hermione come over to do a test drive and make sure. Hermione said she thought he'd done rather well and Ron was sufficiently confused by a variety of things in their home that Harry figured he must have done a decent job.

Still, he was a little nervous that Draco was going to give them away. Draco, who still couldn’t understand that he needed to shut the door on the refrigerator if he wanted food to stay cold, or that he needed to use the switch on the wall for the lights.

“No magic,” Harry reminded him for what had to be the dozenth time that day as they set out more food on the tables before their guests arrived.

“Surely they have stasis charms to keep the food at the right temperature.”

He rubbed his head, “they don’t. You’ve complained about the food at every muggle party we’ve been to,” he reminded him.

“Well but they won’t know if we just-” he said as he started to lift his hand.

“Yes they will. They’ll ask you what your secret is and you’ll say something ridiculous. And we’ll end up on the cover of the daily prophet for getting arrested because we couldn’t keep the statute of-”

“Harry,” he interrupted, rubbing his hands over Harry’s shoulders, “you’re overreacting.”

He huffed, wanting to say that was rich coming from Draco, but knew that Draco was probably right.

"But I have mastered a wandless Oblivate, just in case."

"Draco! You can't just-"

The other man laughed, sweet and soft before brushing his nose over Harry's. "Teasing," he said, wrapping his arms around Harry's shoulders, "I'm teasing."

"Yoo hoo!" a voice called and they turned to see their neighbor, Graham, wandering into their yard. "So nice of you to host us this year!" he enthused, smiling widely enough that they could see the gap in his bottom row of teeth where he'd had one knocked out by their other neighbor Agnes over a dispute about radishes.

"Our pleasure," Draco said cheerfully, unwinding his arms from around Harry's neck and reaching for the casserole Graham was holding out.

"It'll just need a serving spoon," he said.

Draco started holding out a hand to summon one, "No problem."

Harry grabbed his wrist, "I'll get one," he said. "From the kitchen," he added pointedly.

"That reminds me," Graham said and Harry couldn't help be a little grateful that he was going inside and thus missing whatever mad story was about to fall from the man's lips. "I had a friend once who kept all his silverware in the loo-"

Harry shook his head and headed inside to grab a handful of serving utensils, inwardly cursing himself for being so susceptible to Draco's pleading.

There were only a few more times that Harry caught Draco trying to do something with magic, and Harry was just starting to relax. The party would end soon, they'd be free to carry everything back inside of their house (that everyone would have left once again) and then use their magic to tidy up.

He was mentally patting himself on the back when he overheard Draco laugh, that tight nervous one he did when he was trying to cover something up, and Harry's ears were immediately on alert. "Well, Monica," he said and Harry wanted to cover his mouth, knowing that he was not going to like whatever words were about to fall from Draco's lips. "You may have had sparklers, but Harry and I have friends who build fireworks." Harry opened his mouth to protest. "So, we thought we'd really like to end the evening with a bang."

There was applause throughout the crowd that was gathered in the yard and the street and Harry rubbed his forehead. "Draco," he called and his boyfriend turned with a huge grin, one that dimmed a bit when he caught the look on Harry's face.

"We'll be right back," he assured everyone, the crowd still fairly humming with excitement.

He looked around once he got inside and dragged Draco to the kitchen, shutting the door and casting a quick ward at the door to make sure no one walked in. "Are you out of your mind?"

"What?" Draco asked, crossing his arms over his chest. "We do have all of those fireworks sitting around in the attic."

"Muggle fireworks are very different from wizarding fireworks!" he exclaimed. "Theirs don't move for starters."

"Then how do the get them in the sky?" he asked curiously. "What are they-"

"No," Harry said. "No. They don't," he let his head drop to his chest and he took a deep breath. "Theirs also shoot up into the sky and burst, but they're not..." he trailed off searching, "animated?"

Draco frowned, "Don't we have any that are like theirs?"

And at the look on his face, Harry folded, "I'll figure it out. I'm going to fire them from the backyard. Since I'll need magic to do it."

"I love you," Draco said, sweet and adoring, and Harry wanted to be mad but-

"I love you too," he replied. "Menace."

After digging around in the fireworks they currently had in their possession, Harry found a pack that was most similar to muggle fireworks; no dragons or magical creatures, no leprechauns that would rain down fake galleons, or anything else equally outlandish.

It was the pride pack, so it was full of bright colors, rainbows, and what would look like glitter as it fell from the sky. They'd used one at the muggle pride parade they went to last month, so Harry was confident that their neighbors wouldn't be suspicious.

He set everything up in the backyard and cast a couple of spells over the house to protect it from fire, took a breath, cursed himself for being easily won over, and cast at the first one.

There were wild cheers from the other side of the house as the firework corkscrewed into the air and burst into pink, purple, and blue shimmers. He exhaled and launched the next which set off a series of plumes that arched into the sky and burst red, orange, yellow, green, blue, then purple.

More applause from the other side of the house and Harry relaxed a little bit, launching more and more fireworks into the air, lighting up the sky with joyful colors and with the signs of love that their friends had gifted them. And something in Harry's heart warmed at the applause and cheering, as he continued to light off fireworks, like their community had really accepted them into the fold.

He shot the last one into the air and it showered the surrounding area with every color of glitter imaginable. Harry knew it would dissipate within a few minutes.

He came back around to the other side of the house to find everyone toasting Draco; bottles of beer, glasses of wine, cans of white claw, even red solo cups filled with Merlin only knew what, all held aloft while people cheered and applauded.

And Harry stood back, watching his boyfriend, smiling so wide that his eyes crinkled at the corner. Draco looked radiant in his happiness and Harry knew without a shadow of a doubt, that he would spend the rest of his life doing whatever wild, crazy, ridiculous things that he needed to do to keep that smile on his love's face.

The other man turned slightly and caught sight of him, holding out a hand for him, and Harry allowed himself to be pulled into the fold, Draco's arm wrapped around his waist as everyone made their way to collect their dishes and say good night.

After they'd finished cleaning everything up and climbed into bed, Draco pressed his smile into Harry's shoulder. "Happy?" he asked, because he wanted to hear his boyfriend say it.

"Incandescently."

"Good," he murmured, pressing his lips to Draco's forehead and tugging him a little closer.

"Are you?" Draco asked, propping his pointy chin up on Harry's chest and gazing up at him.

He smiled at Draco, "Immeasurably."

Draco hummed at that, seemingly pleased as he settled back down into his arms, "Good."

"Thanks for making my life an adventure that is actually enjoyable."

Draco squeezed him around his rib cage, pressing a kiss over Harry's heart, "My pleasure."

Oh of course

So instead of having Joker as the main character, or the Fool Arcana, I've put in Yusuke, weird art boy. He interacts with everything the same way he normally would. Strangely. He stares at people and sketches things and makes little finger frames, but now he has a criminal record ooh. Honestly he got the codename Jester just because I was making a joke about he'd be funnier than Joker

Okay so. Morgana is the not-cat and he's pretty much the only non human, so you might be wondering who took his place as the Magician Arcana. And. It's Akechi Goro. I was thinking about who'd do best with putting up with Yusuke's oddities while also being hilariously done with everything and yeah I felt that would work best. In the real world he looks like a little Robin, and in the metaverse he's just. Goro. His codename being Crow still is just because I couldn't think of anything better sorry

And then it's our Chariot, taking Ryuji's place. This was an easy one for me. I am incredibly biased about this one, but will I care? No. It's Makoto. So-called delinquent student Makoto Niijima, trying to stay true to herself, while handling the feelings of being so totally alone. I chose Knight for her codename here cause. It fits. Trust me

Lovers! Now, how could I ever replace Ann as the Lovers? Easily. Like, it was quick. I chose Haru to be the Lovers here, stuck in an awful situation where she feels so trapped. Was this an excuse to push more Okujima into the world? Yes. Clearly. The codename Eros comes from Cupid, as Eros is like the Roman version I think?? Idk but yeah. Eros

Taking Yusuke's original place as the Emperor is Futaba. And before anyone asks I made Madarame lamer Bill Gates. Anyways Python comes from the coding language and because her original mask is like a frog and. Frogs make me think of snakes

Next up is the Priestess Arcana! Filling Makoto's role as group babysitter in this swap is Hifumi. "Scream she was supposed to be a phantom thief this isn't that cool" I knew that shut up. Anyways. Rook is a Shogi piece that's. Literally why I chose it

Okay and moving on to the Hermit! Originally it's Futaba but since she's busy not being socially anxious anymore I've put Ryuji in that spot. I also made him a twitch streamer. Compass? Why Compass you ask? Well first thought was Captain but then. Cap said Compass and I agreed cause then the other Thieves get to jokingly call him "Ass"

Moving right along with the Empress! It's Ann I just. Completely swapped her and Haru. Cause it works quite well actually, not gonna lie. And. Yeah Puma is just another cat you got me

Finally, it's Justice. Gama. It's Mishima I just put him there cause I hate him and I get to make him kick the bucket in this role. Also cause I thought it would be funny if the Phantom Thieves' greatest enemy was a video essay YouTuber

Anyways. I have many thoughts so do ask me for more I won't shut up about this (ask Cap I can't help it)
