Cinnamonpaw sat still in his kittypet bed, eyes dry and unclosing. The jingle of his stupid collar and the thought of his former clan kept him up. What would they do if he came home and recognized no one? What if they knew him and called him Cinnamonpaw, only to disappoint them by telling them his name is now Mothie? What if his family was dead? What if all of his clan mates were-

The sound of shuffling and steps distracted him from his swirl of thoughts. He got up from the moss- kittypet bed, and cocked his head outside of the twoleg door. The other kittypets that live with him swarmed over... something? Cinnamon- no, Mothie, prayed it wasn't a clanmate. A small, golden-yellow cat was hunched over and trembling, wearing a small wool cloth that the twolegs gave him when he first arrived. Champ, the large, black rosette tabby she-cat that lived with him, kept her distance from the new cat, seemingly trying to make them comfortable. Suddenly-

-'Who's that?' -The cat asked, pointing at him.

-'That's Mothie, he's kind of boring and a bit neurotic and tends to ignore us, but he's pretty cool once you get to know him. Also he came from a "clan", thing? I don't actually know what it is but-'

-'I lived near one! It was called... umm.. Sporeclan or something-'

Sporeclan?! Cinnamonpaw jumped, eyes widened.

-'How- who- what-' He kept stammering.

-'Easy there, pal. You wouldn't want to scare the newbie, do ya'?' -Nessie, the slick furred, old, gray ticked tom told him, chuckling. Cinnamo- Mothie's eyes darted across the room.

-'Do.. you know Mousegrove? Or-or Spottedpaw, or Mushroompaw, or... Cliffpaw?' Mothie's eyes started to tear up thinking about his family.

-'I have heard about... Spottedfrost and uh... Cliffthicket i think was their name?' -The golden-yellow cat said with uncertainty in their words.

They graduated! Cinnamonpaw grinned, eyes closed, letting a tear fall down his cheek. ...What about Mushroompaw?

-'What about Mushroompaw..?'

-'I don't know much about them, like i said, i lived near them, not with them... Anyway, my name's Yucca- i mean.. uh... Big Paws.'

Oh. His small smile washed away. I guess she hasn't graduated yet? Or she's... she's...

-'Well.. hi Big Paws. Let Champ show you round. I'm going back to my bed.' -Cinnamonpaw murmured, before slinking back inside his den- room.

He could have sworn he heard Champ say he's boring, however, he couldn't care less about what she said. A different thought invaded his mind, and he couldn't let go of it.

i used to freehand comics all the time as a child and since the part i liked was the drawing part i would just draw panel after panel because i didn't want to stop drawing to think about icky icky words, plus the story TOTALLY still made perfect sense! to me! and noone else, but 'whoooo caaaaares omgggg its not like comics and sequantial art are a communicative meeediummmm lmaoooooo'. i spent my entire childhood telling myself stuff like "oh pfft I know this story by heart- ill SIMPLY remember the dialogue and write it later" ...and. Srry that I haven't been posting. I'm either just procrastinating as usual, im busy working and stuff (Idk I just work as an assistant at my mums school), or it's just me being tired and drained from life in general

This is my first actual post on Tumblr ever so pls bear with me. Also, English is not my first language so pls excuse any mistakes I make :)

So, this whole thing here started just as a joke bc I was curious if anyone else was feeling constantly tired all day no matter how long I sleep. But it all somehow escalated a bit and I may have started hyperfixating on it so well, now it actually became a little survey.

I also wanted to mention that I only asked the artist in my little Tumblr bubble, which is mostly tmnt content, so my results are mostly referring to tmnt artists.

In total, I asked 143 people if they could remember the last time they woke up and just felt actually rested for more than half of the day.

I probably could have been more specific with my question but again, I did not actually planned to let it become so big. Personally, for me being rested means, having a clear head, no headache or foggy mind without consuming any caffeine.

So out of 143 people, 100 answered me and I tried my best to sort all of the answers after the criteria “good-sleep-schedule” and “bad-sleep-schedule” and also noted when exactly they last felt actually rested into either the last days, weeks, months, years or “???” when they couldn’t remember or didn’t mention anything specific.

And let’s just say… it does not really look good. Out of 100 people, only 18 have an actual good sleep schedule. Out of these 18 people, 13 felt really rested in the last days, 2 in the last weeks, only one person in the last months and 2 in the last years.

Out of the 82 of people who have a bad sleep schedule, 10% lastly felt rested in the last days, 11% in the last weeks, 11% in the last months, 30% in the last years, and 38% couldn’t remember or didn’t specify it.

While reading all your answers I came to realize being sleep deprived is not just bc any of them thought “Oh it would be really neat to stay up till 4 am!” or smth like that.

A lot of the artists who answered me mentioned that they have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep due to stuff like insomnia, chronic pain, other issues, or children (yeah, ok, there was just one who had a child but still).

While analyzing I mostly referred the situations to my own experience with going to sleep or rather not going to sleep...

I usually don’t have problems falling asleep but trouble actually putting my stuff away and going to bed bc I don’t want to end the day or just don’t want to go to sleep (don’t ask why, I have no idea why I am like this). While having these “episodes” I often doodle smth, binge reading some fanfics, or watch whatever I can find on the internet until I’m just falling asleep or can convince myself that it is 3 am and I really should go to bed now.

So, my personal theory about why sleep deprivation is so common among Tumblr artists is not bc they do art all night. My theory is that a lot of people who have trouble falling asleep due to insomnia, pain, or other issues are filling the time until they hopefully fall asleep with their art, doodles, writings, or whatever their creative minds can bring up, to help the time pass.

In total that would mean that not all artists are sleep deprived but more that a lot of people who have trouble falling asleep do a lot of art or creative stuff in general.

Something I could also imagine is, that if they start doing art while waiting for sleep, they start to concentrate a lot on creating more and start procrastinating sleep even if they actually get tired bc they wanna do art and fuck up their non-existing sleep schedule even more but that could also just be me projecting here.

I know that is probably no kind of big revelation but for me it was kind of surprising to see how many people here are as sleep deprived as me and due to what reasons.

I’m not going to preach to any of you to get that problem solved or smth, I have no right to tell you what to do and would be a major hypocrite so instead I really which everyone to get some kind of good sleep schedule one day and the joy of waking up and feeling completely rested at least thrice per week.

I absolutely love all your art and thank you a thousand times for helping me with this spontaneous survey!

I would love to hear your opinions on my theory and conclusion so pls don’t be shy and feel free to point out any mistakes I may have made or tell me your own theories :D

Turns out I actually have so many ideas for grown up Timmy Oml-

No doodles of the ideas yet I am just trying to get out the brainworms and thoughts, if I actually have something I’ll make a part two for this-

In the meantime have a regular Timmy doodle and for those interested some ramblings below:

Concept 1

Comic artist

Timmy always read to me as a really creative kid with a very rich imagination not to mention his love for comics like the crimson chin.

Also be for real, cleft the boy chin wonder was basically baby’s first self insert oc.

So I really like the idea of a future where Timmy got to make his own comics, maybe he works on a reboot of the crimson chin comics orrrrr he is retelling his own childhood adventures from when he had fairies without ever considering that it wasn’t just his imagination but reality.

Heck maybe making a crimson chin fan comic is what’s jumpstarted his career so that later he gained opportunities and made his own series?

Also in this idea I can say proudly: “bro is just like me fr fr.”/j

Like any artist and writer he suffers creatively twice.

He is a chronic procrastinator and there are two reasons he is able to keep any of his deadlines:

They are called coffee and redbull.

He has passion, he has fun but god damn his work ethic is just about the worst example he could give his kids which is exactly why he doesn’t LIKE letting them see him work.

He is unorganised and constantly suffering from art block,writers block- bro is basically just in a creative burn out 24/7.

In a new fish he could maybe pop in via holding a meet and greet, signing copy of his works and the likes. Hazel and or dev could be fans of his work and thus shenanigans happen.

Concept 2

Child care

Okay this one comes with a bit of backstory: Basically once Timmy got old enough he actually started his own babysitting service, perhaps even together with his friends.

The main reason was of course Vicky.

He could steal away her jobs so she couldn’t traumatise more children by being so,SO icky.

But that’s when he also learned he kinda really liked looking after those little rascals.

Especially babies and toddlers, something about them just set off this warm and fuzzy feeling of familiarity within him.

So as a grown up he would make looking after them his whole career, I haven’t really settled in what way though.

He could be like a nanny for hire, or maybe even a daycare attendant running his own place.

I like to think there are a few moments where he would subconsciously act kinda like Wanda and or Cosmo while looking after these kids but with his own spin of course.

He is pretty witty and was a well known troublemaker in his youth so he knows just about every trick a kid can pull and isn’t opposed by teaching them a lesson by making their schemes backfire horribly.

No harm done except for a temporary wound on the child’s pride perhaps. But then again he is so fun during playtime how can any kid stay mad?

And if he is a nanny for hire: who knows maybe Dev is in need of supervision sometime soon?:>

Sub concept

Child counsellor

Kinda similar to the backstory of the previous idea simply this time Timmy decided to focus on kids who may be a little more troubled due to outside factors like he was.

Because he can SWEAR that back then there was someone who was there for him in a similar he now is for these kids and even if he can’t remember it anymore.

You can bet that there is nothing stopping him from being a safe adult for them to come to.

Concept 3

Fairy

Probably one of the most popular I’ve seen and I gotta be honest it’s a lot of fun to think about, but because so many ideas were already out there I did have a hard time coming up with something that wasn’t just a repeat of someone elses idea’s.

But I think in the end what I settled on is a fun concept:

Remember that episode where we see that unwished wishes get put into a kinda storage unit? And how Timmy made so many wishes his locker was basically about to burst?

I think it would be pretty fun if his duty as a fairy would be to basically reorganise these kinds of lockers and instead of storing wishes somewhere else Timmy has to find a use for them somewhere else.

It’s also kinda funny because I imagine Jorgan did kinda intend this to be a “Got’cha!” Moment, as let’s be real most of these wishes WERE HIS.

But jokes on him Timmy actually likes this job-
