I’ve got so many internal thoughts about this boy.
I’ve started drawing my oc as a robot in a ‘what if’ kinda way and it’s all your fault /lh (your post about maybe starting a modding Minecraft server, and then thing saying you like the origins mod got me thinking about the last time I played Origins, specifically with some robot-like origin. Which made me think ‘what if my main oc was a robot’) (I’ve even now made a playlist on Spotify it won’t leave my brain-)
I would very much like to see OwO

i love your magical girl designs for the seablings, could we get some more info on the choices of colour and stuff? i'm super into character design and love seeing peoples thought on stuff like that ^^
Sure!
A big influence was precure, obviously, as a fan. Many palettes aren't too far off from various precure if you look for them. I am generaly a bit unhappy with the mishmash of 20 different colours used in modern cures, but they did help me be a bit bolder with choices as I'll talk about later. I also tossed out their "avoid green as a main colour" rule like everyone else. I have no idea what sort of wack marketting advice convinced every girls show that girls don't like green and we probably will never know. Irrelevant...
My first step was assigning each mode its own colour. Since they're a duo I was tempted to do either contrasting or complimentary colours, but that went out the window quick. E1 seablings already had very distinctly assigned colours of green and purple, and they were the easiest that I already had ideas for, so I tossed that and just tried to not have them overlap. I still ended up with green, cyan, AND blue as main colours but I adjusted it with the secondary colours.
For the e1 seablings outfits it was primarily colour picked from my actual designs for the codfather and ocean queen, but tweaked to be more saturated, so their main colour theme is green (pink secondary) and purple (blue secondary). It's also when I decided to give them a highlight colour in their hair, as is popular with modern magical girls, since my codfather design already has this. (Also I stole the veil from cure Spicy. Her little veil/napkin hat I immediately fell in love with and thought it would work as a lily pad like hat on Jimmy when designing him, and it fit well with the slight wedding theme I gave them.)
Lizzie's colours are pretty much just various shades of purple and and blue based on her axolotl ocean goddess design. Jimmy's colours are supposed to be like a water lily, of course, and I made the greens less sickly than his codfather design which are meant to be more swampy and go with the browns of the cod. Both the seablings' secondary coloura are references to each other in this btw, as is the case in my codfather design to designate him as the ocean queen's family. Jimmy isn't inherently associated with blue in this au but I did manage to slip it into all three designs since outside of it he is.
The life series designs were veeery easy for Jimmy and much more difficult for Lizzie, but the actual colour choices were both easy once I worked out a design. Lizzie never had an actual skin for her faerie fort self, and her base skin is purple just like the ocean queen, which is also the case for her clothes in e2, so this is where I started taking liberties with her and assigned her other things and desided to throw out the idea of the colour palettes being in neat little boxes. This is the closest to a rainbow cure they get, but I made Lizzie's official main colour cyan and secondary green. Jimmy by contrast is the most monochromatic he gets here, with a main colour of blue and secondary yellow.
Butterfly Lizzie is actually the only time I had multiple palette ideas that I had to make a hard choice between because I liked them all so much, usually I was struggling to find shades I enjoyed being paired since I don't usually work with such saturated palettes. I guess it's fitting, since cyan/teal is minecraft's bets colour that's easy to slap on any build to make it look elegant. Jimmy's palette itself was pretty easy, took a lot of notes from cure sky for him in colour AND design, but it was a matter of where to put what colours. I think I changed the colour of his shorts more times than any other article.
E2 designs were the first I actually designed and thenthe last ones I made palettes for. Their main colours were red and orange... which are quite difficult to work with in such high saturation, and especially with trying to avoid overlaping. I ended up using very unconventional palettes way out of my comfort zone. Brown in general is very unconventional for a magical girl, but there's been a few curea like cure chocolat and cure wing that utilized it that gave the inspiration. It was an easy decision to make her hair and ears based on her calico design after that, though I had trouble deciding exactly where to incorperate the brown into her actual outfit. The purple just came very natural after that. I often use purple instead of actual brown for dark browns so it made sense to me, at least. It was a nice pop against the orange and also contrast the yellow.
E2 Jimmy is the one I am least satisfied with. It was the only one that was not based off his skin the same way Lizzie's weren't. I still look at it and think if theres anything else I could try. By far the most difficult. Red's a very bold colour so it's hard to match without just using different tones of red, and the wrong shade would make the whole rhing look off. I also already knew I wanted yellow/orange in the design because of the sherrif star, but I didn't want it to be his life design with a different primary colour. I decided to try incorperating his blue, and I like it in concept but I still am not sure about the specific shade. After that I thought to add green to make it that classic childish primaries colour, make the design like a space cowboy almost. The star on his hat, the hat in general actually, ended up being the biggest help to decide.
At one point I experimented with a full on rainbow theme but it did not work out. I think it could have with a slightly different design and somekne better at picking colours, but I scrapped it. I also decided to use a lot of darker shades since red is already so bold and bright. Still unhappy with the pants, but white was just a bit too bright and the secondaries were too bold to use. This was the only time I actually messed with the design itself to try and help make colours work, but it didn't work out. I'd say overall I'm happy enough with it but I could have done a lot better.
Also I decided to adjust Lizzie's pink hair slightly with each to match the palettes. I was trying to avoid it, but it's so pink and there's so much it really affected the rest of her design a lot, so I made her e2 hair a more salmon pink and her life design a more bubblegum pink.
As for their wands I just went with an unobtrusive white and pastel rainbow colour scheme. The white matches their outfits and the rainbow doesn't clash too hard with anything. Joel I obbiously just made green and Norman was a bit more awkward but I went with a grey to match the real Norman since a full blue palette made him look like a generic cat faerie and not specifically Norman.

Part 2 of the hermitcreature au/which minecraft mob I add to which hermit 🌟
Part 1
Stress
With Stress there is one mob I thought of the most for her, Stress is a witch. She likes to help Scar out with trying to understand her magic more but it never really works out lol.
Iskall
Iskall is always associated with slimes, but Jevin is also a slime and idk how to feel about repeating creatures when there are so many mobs to choose from. The problem is that I don't have a better fit lmao. But hear me out, glow squid!Iskall-
Mumbo
With his new "peace love and plants" thing, I'm making him a passive or neutral mob. So there are 3 mobs I have in mind, a bat, bee or spider. And I'm really tempted to go for spider!Mumbo. Like, everytime he goes to work he has multiple arms to do as much as possible but he sucks at multitasking so it barely works. And his superhero thing he has going on could be spiderman Mumbo.
Etho
I see the au's who make Etho an ice elemental or other ice related thing and I raise to you: fox!Etho. Specifically artic fox!Etho. Foxes are said to be clever tricksters, which I think fits Etho pretty well. And it still keeps up with the ice theme.
Joe
No one actually knows what Joe is. He knows quite a lot, and you know he's always there if you need him, but he can't just be a human. So what is he..? Maybe they'll figure it out someday.
Keralis
So, you know how spiders have a lot of eyes and a big part of Keralis is his whole eye thing? Spider!Keralis. Now you may be thinking, "didn't you say you don't want repeats?" And yes, I don't. So I raise to you, cave spider!Keralis. He and Bdubs call themselves daylight buddies because they both stay calm and collected as long as they have enough light around them.
Ren
I saw an au that made Ren a wither and I really like that idea so I might also go with whiter!Ren 👉👈. My other option is endermite!Ren mainly because I remember watching streams of season 7 and how often he just used enderpearls whenever I watched. I think it would be cool if he was an endermite.
TFC
TFC is a wandering trader. He's always kinda there, vibin. And I can appreciate that. I see him as a retired wandering trader in the au, one that finally decided to settle after years of doing his job. Alternativly: elder guardian!TFC.
Beef
Cowboy. Literally. Mooshroom!Beef. I find it funny because of his butcher skin. I went with the mooshroom because they're better then cows, and the spawn island from season 7 was the mushroom island. Like, what if Xisuma hadn't seen Beef since season 5 and he suddenly met him again searching for a new world for the hermits, finding out part of him was mooshroom.
xB
xB was a difficult one but, bat!xB. I'm basing it off of his apocalypse base in season 7. His base was an apocalypse style, in the sky. Bats need to fly. (honestly with xB I really didn't know, please bear with me lmao-)
Hypno
Husk!Hypno. Yes I have a reason for this. No I will not tell you all just yet, it's for 🌠 angst lore.
Wels & Hels
These were genuinly difficult because I wanted them both to be the same mob. I was switching between Iron golems, snow golem & iron golem, and various nether mobs but I think I found the mob I want to give them. Blaze!Wels and blaze!Hels. Wels is a blaze that isn't provoked, and stays the way he is. But when upset, he can look rather close to Wels with smoke coming from him, and even fire if you've really pissed him off, which doesn't happen often (thankfully.) Hels is a blaze that is always in some angry state, causing him to always give off smoke and fire.
Xisuma & EX
So funny story, we have used up all the end related mobs (enderdragon!Grian, enderman!Pearl). And while endermite might still be available since I am probably going for wither!Ren, endermite!Xisuma feels wrong. So, shulker!Xisuma and shulker!EX. They both come from the end islands and the void itself. They are much more then just shulkers, but strictly 'mob' speaking, they are shulkers.

BIRTHDAY GIRL
Annie and I never established that we were friends until her eighth birthday.
In the blossoming spring warmth, I nestled myself in the corner of the bench in the playground’s garden. It was an unspoken fact that nobody really played in the garden; it was a quiet haven for a few of us to read or enjoy solitude, yet it had also become a spot where I waited for Annie every day, and almost every day, had she not been sent home or busy with other obligations, Annie joined me, sometimes speaking, sometimes not. I didn’t mind; I just loved to be in her company.
On this particular day, Annie stood before me, and despite her being the same height as me, her air always made her seem much bigger and powerful.
“My dad says this is for you.”
She handed me a white envelope into which I fervently tore, revealing a gaudy invitation card.
“It’s your birthday on Saturday?” I quizzed.
“No, my birthday is today. But my dad said it was too short notice to invite you to my house today, so you can come on Saturday.”
At this news of Annie’s birthday, I immediately leapt to my feet and braced her in a hug. “Happy birthday! What cake are you having? Are you going to hand out sweets to your class?”
Annie did not hug me back but did not resist. “I don’t like cake, and I don’t like anyone in my class.”
I gasped. “How can you not like cake? Also, who’s going to be at your party if you don’t like anyone in your class?”
“Cake is too heavy and sweet.” She responded monotonously. “Also, you’re the only one coming; it’s not a party, my dad just knows I have a friend now and wanted you to come. You don’t have to.”
Unlike Annie, I didn’t actively avoid the other children in my school. I was still invited to many class birthday parties, I spoke amiably to my peers and I could name a few schoolchildren whom I could consider a friend— yet Annie, the stoic, ash-blonde girl confessing she saw me as a friend elicit such joy within me, I can still remember the feeling to this day if I think about her enough.
“So if I’m your friend, I have to get you a present, right?” I had reminded her of the title that she gave me moments ago.
“No. I don’t want a present.”
“Yes you do, everyone wants presents!” I retorted. “What do you like best in the world?”
“Cats.”
I sat down, sulking. “I can’t get you a cat, Annie. What else do you like?”
Silence.
“Mummy and I can make you something.” I continued, desperate to find something that I could give to my friend. “She’s really good at baking. Do you like cookies?”
“No.”
“Cupcakes?” I refused to give up.
“No! Cupcakes are tiny cakes, you know I hate cakes.”
“Brownies?”
“No.”
“Doughnuts?”
This time, Annie turned away, not meeting the question with a monosyllabic “no”.
“Doughnuts! Annie, I’ll make you lots of doughnuts, okay?”
Annie still refused to look me in the eye. It never bothered me, but I had gathered that she was more inclined to refuse eye contact when she was upset or shy. Before I had the chance to attempt to pry into which flavour of doughnut she would have liked, the bell signalling the end of recess rang. I leapt to my feet and pressed a chaste kiss to Annie's cheek.
“See you later, you doughnut!”
She shoved me towards my line with no malice in the action. “Whatever you say, pumpkin girl.”
“Earth to (y/n)? You’ve been glazed over for the past five minutes. What’s so exciting about the window?”
I blink, snapping out of the saccharine memory of Annie’s birthday. Four pairs of eyes are fixed on me, and I animate myself, taking the doughnut from my plate and shrugging. “I was just thinking,” I respond.
“You sure? Not looking at any hot dudes?” the only other female at the table, Sasha, suggests. Her hazel eyes flicker suggestively over to the group of men kicking a ball about in the park over the road from our favourite local café, which has baked goods to die for (or so Sasha and Connie, the food fanatics of my friendship group claim. I won’t argue—the doughnuts are heavenly.)
“Yeah, c’mon, (y/n)! There are three dashing fellows right here, why do you need to stare at those losers?” Connie chimes in, gesturing to himself and my other two male friends, Jean and Marco.
“Yeah, you wish. My type isn’t idiots,” I playfully smack Connie’s head, the growing stubble brushing my fingertips as I find any way to bring the subjects away from men that I would apparently find attractive.
“On all seriousness, what is your type? We’ve never seen you have anyone about.” Jean interrogates. Great.
It took me a while to figure out that I’m likely not into men. I never quite knew why I got so uncomfortable when middle school brought an array of boy bands that prepubescent teenage girls loved to swoon over, and why I could never answer when somebody asked me who was the hottest, but at the age of sixteen, when I realised my heart was racing upon seeing two women kiss in a film my friends and I had watched, it hit me like a freight train that I was definitely attracted to women.
I chose not to indulge anyone in this knowledge; realistically, I know I don’t have too much to worry about. Sure, my parents aren’t screaming about supporting gay rights from the rooftops, but I know that they have no prejudice towards the community, and my four closest friends would accept me no matter what — hell, Marco told us he was gay when we were fifteen and sixteen years old over a game of Mario Kart and we embraced his queerness with open arms.
So what’s the big deal? I think to myself.
“Does it matter? I’m too busy to date. These university decisions are killing me!”
“Simple,” Jean interrupts, pointing the straw of his ridiculously large iced coffee in my direction. “You come to Marley with Marco and me. Good university, far enough away from your parents, and you get your favourite friends with you for the ride!”
Jean and Marco are one class above Sasha, Connie and I, and decided that Marley University, a small, public school that gained a decent reputation despite it being so new, was the place for them. It was hard to say goodbye once they left school, but the holiday breaks came frequently, and soon enough, they were back for Easter, helping their three younger friends decide on which school to go to.
“Tempting, but probably not. I can’t get over the English department in Sina,” I responded dreamily.
“Yeah, and the crazy entry requirements. You’d have to be a robot to get those grades! Just come to Marley with us, I’m sure the English stuff is fine there, too!” Sasha whined, poking at my hand. I take another bite of my nostalgic treat, shaking my head.
“Guys, I love you all, but I can’t make such an important decision based on my friends. You understand, right?”
“It’s fine, (y/n),” Marco interrupts, his familiar comforting smile gracing his freckled face. “We’ll come to visit you up there, right?”
“Nope. Four of us, one of you. She is coming to Marley.” Jean retorts.
“Jesus, fair enough. I’ll book the plane tickets now!” I tell him sardonically. He elbows me jovially in response and stands, coffee in hand. “Right, we can finish our drinks and snacks on the way outside. It's too nice to be spending it indoors.”
Ignoring the protests from Sasha and Connie, who forlornly protest that they haven't had the chance to order a baked good after their main courses, the majority of the group tail towards the double doors, leaving the duo no choice but to begrudgingly follow suit. The late March sunshine is glorious, beaming down on my face, much like the day twelve years ago I was daydreaming about. It suddenly hit me that today, March 22nd, Annie would be turning twenty years old. This newfound knowledge makes my stomach drop and I cannot control the grief coursing through my being.
It's ever so odd how I can remember every detail about my childhood friend; every memory we shared together, her favourite colour, (black, which I insisted was rather morbid for an eight-year-old, so I coaxed her into putting blue as a second favourite) how on Sunday mornings her father would always pick her up from my house after a sleepover at 10 am sharp to take her to karate, even though she had told me in confidence that she much preferred kickboxing. I couldn't tell you many facts about any other childhood friend who I lost to time; it's only Annie. Every detail of the girl who made my infancy etched into my heart, refusing to leave.
As I force myself back into the present moment, I am aware that maybe Annie was more than just my best friend.
But I was so young. How could I have truly differentiated between innocuous childhood affection and romantic yearning?
“Marco?” I punctuate the spring silence before I can even stop myself. “How did you realise your first crush?”
Marco raises his eyebrows. “Jeez, it was so long ago. I was eleven and I was having a sleepover with my friend. We were on his bed playing Minecraft on his laptop, but I wasn’t even paying attention; I was just admiring his face, how he was so engrossed in the game. My heart was racing because I realised I wanted to kiss him, but I didn’t even think it was biologically possible to like the same sex, so I brushed it off. Now I look back…” he laughs awkwardly, before looking me in the eye, his tone suddenly earnest. “Why, what’s up? Anything you want to talk to me about?”
I stop in the street, completely oblivious to the speed of modern day life around me. Suddenly all I care about is how my stomach leapt when I saw her pallid figure walk through the double doors, into the garden, how I found any excuse to hold her hand, how obsessed I was with the topography of her curved nose, icy eyes, lips stark against her pale skin.
“How do you know for sure you’re gay if you’ve only ever had a crush on one person in your life? Somebody who you haven’t spoken to in eight years?”

this is kinda how i view myself right now though :3 also i tried to make the eyes and face more detailed rather than how i usually go about skin making with like 1 pixel as the eyes.. but i feel like it looks so angry
also i was really tempted to put like ninnies on this and there is no other reason than i want 6 ninnies.

Playing Around with Augmented Reality
I recently found an early access app in the Google Play store called Assemblr. It’s a Minecraft-like sandbox where you can build in 3-d, then drop these creations into augmented reality or even VR.
I’ve been playing around with it, and while it is pretty buggy, it’s very feature rich, with a lot of pre-made elements that you can drop into a scene. You can also build with blocks or other assorted shapes for a real Minecraft experience. The skins and colors are customizable with detailed textures. I’m having a hard time getting the AR elements to work consistently, but I am going to be in contact with the developers because I really, really want this to work.
The applications for a handheld AR platform are incredible. What if you could have a zero impact art installation in a local park? Or graffiti that is secret? Signage for local business could be revolutionized, especially in cramped, busy cities. You could leave messages in a bottle on the sidewalk that can only be read by people with a certain app. Or you could add to certain places, such as supporting your team by leaving a message at a sports arena up on the wall. Or glamming up a statue in a sort of digital yarn-bombing. You could interact with great works of art and remix them into something original.
But as someone who spends a lot of time at theme parks, I think this is a huge opportunity. A big criticism of theme parks is the manufactured nature of your environment. You don’t have much impact over the things around you. Over the years, these things have begun to change. I first noticed it in the immersive environments in the queues at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, where the now-closed Dragon Challenge coasters had a part of the line make it seem like there was a dragon on the other side of the wall ready to attack. Recently, the refurbishment of Disney rides has started doing the same, with games and touch screens to keep guests entertained while they wait.
So let’s talk about Disney in particular.
What if, instead of just distracting guests while they wait in line, you build on that concept to build up the entire world of the park? You could have an augmented reality map, with a line guiding guests to their destination projected onto the ground. You could have AR experiences that enhance the settings of the different Kingdoms. A large pirate ship outside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Animated birds flitting around, tempting you to go into the Enchanted Tiki Room. A large billboard for space tourism outside of Space Mountain. Animated characters appearing in Fantasyland and Presidents hanging out outside the Hall of Presidents. A parade float with an augmented reality beacon could have a fire-breathing dragon on top of it. You could have information about different types of flowers in the landscaping during the Flower and Garden festival at Epcot. You could have extra content about the different animals living at Animal Kingdom. You could have AR backgrounds in pictures that can only be accessed by visiting a designated Photo Spot.
And the best part of all this is that it would be cheaper to create than actually physically refurbishing the entire façade of a section of the park. This would allow for the constant creation of new material, which would keep the experience fresh and relevant. Seasonal content could be the Hitchhiking Ghosts dressed up as carolers outside of the Haunted Mansion during the Holidays. It could also enhance the experience of other secondary experiences in the parks, such as the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game, with hints or bonus content hidden throughout the park.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this little app improves. Hopefully they develop a social media component, so you can drop augmented reality blips and have others visit them.
And if the Walt Disney World Imagineers happen to stumble across this and like what they hear, they are can contact me using this form.
