(End of June it was) I am currently working on putting together the final files, but as this might take a while, YOU CAN STILL KEEP SENDING ME YOUR FELLAS! Once I’ve prepared the actual, finished, fullsize versions, this pinned post will unpin itself and I’ll put a different one here, with the final previews, the download links and some information what the future may hold... maybe I’ll do a Season Two if the interest is there. But we’ll have to see about that. For now, [SUBMIT MORE] like the wind while you still can! Hello, hello! Welcome to The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe Whiteboard Collaboration (a just-for-fun fan project)! I’m assuming that you found your way here because you’re well aware what The Stanley Parable is, and that you are curious to know what a Whiteboard Collaboration might be about!

Let me cut straight to the case then. It all started in 2023 - the 27th of April, to be precise - which just so happened to be the One Year Anniversary for the release of The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe on Steam and consoles, along with the historically very important and internationally renowned - or at the very least grudgingly accepted - 4/27: STANLEY DAY!

To celebrate the occasion, and only one day too late on the 28th, an idea came forth to put together a Whiteboard, containing all those Stanleys by all the fan artists out there (all credited, of course!), a worthy tribute to the Man of the Hour! And as you can see... we’ve already got quite a few collected!

But why stop there? Since plenty of people also came up with their own Narrator designs, and there’s a good few Timekeeper-Settings-432s and Curators, and plenty of other characters (defining the term loosely here), we might as well give them all their own little space to look absolutely dashing next to each other! Imagine, all those different designs, united in one glorious collection!

My point being... I’d love to see yours in there as well.

So... how can you join in?

The gist can be found up there in the first image, but let me also put it into text form down here, with some extra information:

[Submit] your Stanley, Narrator, 432 or Curator mugshot (or all of them at the same time!). You have [some other canon TSP favorite]? Go ahead, submit ‘em, too! We’ll find a spot. The format of the picture needs to be 300px (width) x 400px (height) to fit with the others. I can resize and cut them into shape if needed, but it’ll be easier on all of us if I don’t have to do that. All pictures will have a small white frame added by me afterwards, to give them that authentic printout flair.

Should the [Submit] button not work for you (I triple-checked and it works for me, but then who knows what this thing does while I’m not looking), sending your artworks through PM or tell me where you posted them is fine as well!

AUs and all art styles are fine! Please only submit one picture per character (if you have more than one design, maybe pick your favorite, or elegantly squeeze them into one picture. If you absolutely cannot decide, sending two pictures per character is okay, but I’d like to cap it there to give everyone equal amounts of space.

This is also very important: Tell me how to credit you! Your name will go under your artwork, I do have to put something there. I’ll likely default to your username if I have nothing else to go by, but it’s best if you directly tell me, right there in your submission.

I will publish your submission(s) on here as soon as I’ve added it to the queue, so you’ll know it went through okay, and so you can show it around to others if you wish! (I can’t do that with PMs, of course.)

THE DEADLINE: Please try to submit your artworks before the End of June! Yes, 2023. This month. In this year. There’s a chance I’ll change this if a sudden influx of new entries rolls in, but as of now it looks like it’s a good time to start wrapping this up. I want my life back and all. ...But prove me wrong, why don’tcha? Why not tell your favorite TSP artists that they NEED TO BE ON THIS THING? NEED TO! WE CRAVE THEM, PRECIOUS. ...Sorry, got carried away there.

I give updates regularily. Previews of the latest Whiteboard statuses, questions that need answering, sometimes I might just add some nonsense rambles, all inclusive, for free.

The FINAL files, whenever they’re ready, will be 8000x4000px in size each and are mostly a much bigger version of the previews, with maybe a few small changes for the aesthetics.That’s quite massive. Humongous. It’s really impressive to browse all those artworks next to each other at that size. Here’s the [Google Drive] link, for all to download from and share around. So far, you can always find the latest Previews and a bunch of random Extras there, along with the first fullsize Stanley board as a test. Please do make suggestions if there’s better options, or if you can’t drive the Google.

I also post on Twitter and the Crows Crows Crows Discord server (fanart channel). If either of those are more comfortable options for you, or if you know someone on there who might also be interested in joining this collaboration, maybe poke me so I can give you directions. Or you might be able to find it yourself, I’m not actively hiding them away. Not even passively.

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 10/Feb/2023

Oh, what a week!

Lots of getting prepped ready towards Book Three's release! We have some fun plans coming for the build up closer to April!

I managed to get in some bits and pieces of plans towards Book Four planning, though mostly the focus is on getting everything prepared before I even reach that stage (though I did come up with a scene idea that I am already internally screaming about I am SO excited to write! :D).

But I really do want to get everything laid out really well before heading into Book Four planning. Things are getting a lot more complicated with the coding with so many branches in play now, so I don't want anything to get lost! It means going through everything from character arcs, variables, to scenes in earlier books to make sure I can go into the planning phase as smoothly as possible.

I did get to do some writing this week though! I finished up the Patreon Valentine's AU (alternate universe) scenarios!

Neither Tina or the MC are sure when the line between friendship and romance got crossed, but both are more than happy that it did!

The MC just knows taking a step into something more with Falk might just be a bad idea...but here they are, doing it anyway...

I had such an amazingly fun time writing these (Falk's is actually a scene I've had playing in my head for years, so it was great fun getting the chance to write it out finally)!

Next week, we'll be keeping working on Book Three release preparations, as well as getting further stuck into the prep work ready for Book Four planning. Will be interesting to go back and see how far the characters and relationships have come, hehe! :D

--- Cohort 1 notes: on 3/15/24, 4 of the Cohort 1 AWC seedlings were planted in 3 pots: Gemini (two together), Atlas, and Pipsqueak in the Derby (2004) medium with a sprinkle of Osmocote + original medium from cones. Heights were 14.5 cm & 6 cm (Gemini), 12 cm (Atlas), and 10 cm (Pipsqueak). Pending them not dying immediately and/or showing signs of significant growth, the remaining seedlings will be repotted. Target height prior to planting is 36 cm. Repotting showed a shallower root system than expected, needs a wider container than cone or should be replanted sooner.

3/17/24 update: might be a coincidence but Pipsqueak and Atlas are already showing new growth (crown and branches, respectively). no changes from Gemini. among the un-repotted, Ursa Minor has some browning at the crown - might need to transplant soon than later, or perhaps burning from too much sun? will rotate and see if this improves. unsure how I will separate Gemini/Ursa Major and Minor when the time comes :/

3/20/24 - separated Gemini into two pots due to lack of immediate growth/improvement shown in Atlas and Pipsqueak. Concern about browning on Ursa Minor, may attempt to divide soon. Potted Hajime and Tagalong to use up the extra medium.

3/28/24 - Potted Ursa Minor and Ursa Major (without Osmocote). Atlas and Pipsqueak continue to show the most improvement. Tagalong has started to show some new growth; less from Hajime. Gemini 1 has started showing new radial growth with a hint of crown growth from Gemini 2. Added layer of compost to all C1 after morning watering

4/9/24 - noticed some burning on Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, likely due to the shitty addition of Osmocote. stirred soil and repotted. likely that Ursa Minor is not going to make it.

Cohort 2 notes: on 3/17/24, 105 seeds were planted for Cohort 2 in the Derby (2004) medium with the Osmocote. seeds were floated (77 floated, 28 didn't float) and grouped by float status, divided into 28 cones (on average 4 seeds to each cone), planted, and additional medium spread on top ~1/4 cm. some of the original medium from Cohort 1 was used in cones where Derby medium was insufficient. all cones were watered at approximately 12:00 with 2 tsp of distilled water.

3/20/24 - no growth so far. continuing with 2 tsp water daily (morning). May try dividing into 1 tsp morning, 1 tsp evening.

3/28/24 - no growth so far. continuing with 2 tsp water daily (morning). will switch to divided watering for a sample after 30 days.

4/11/24 - FIRST SEEDLING OF COHORT 2 UP

4/18/24 - cohort 2 notes: one seedling still in cap, one with two leaves out and third budding (both in row 4FR). I didn't record the time for the first seedlings of cohort 1 to come up so this is a total craps shoot. switched back to 1 tsp of water (mornings) because of concerns of overwatering leading to bugs.

oh dear it seems we have a battle of miscommunication between the lovebirds and their PR Teams. The Daily Mail UK (PR Teams go to) has just released two new separate stories. One for Timmy and his new shirtless IG photos and one for her in Italy cooking pasta with her mom and sister. Coincidentally they were both published at the same time last night and both updated at 2.35 am. What are the odds? Two different focuses. His was despite reports he dumped her he absolutely did not and is still dating her even though they have never been seen together in public with his side or Daily Mail pretending new Dmu blind doesn’t exist with her name in his article heading. Her article narrative was she has been linked to him romantically since April but has never confirmed if they are actually dating. Damage control or change of mind since the new she’s over him and it’s cooled off blind? Is this now getting played out all the way to her Season 4 premiere on Sep 28th? The comments under both are terrible.

I have no doubt for the comments!

obviously nobody gives a fuck about this but me, but here's an explanation of everything i have discovered about the japanese sneaks variant because i am 1) bored and 2) could be interesting to somebody else? doubtful on the latter but alas, let me explain.

as you'd know, i came into possession of a mint, sealed copy a series of sneaks around two months ago now. i'd actually spotted it many months earlier and had been eying it for awhile because it was so bizarre. why was there a japanese release of an album that had historically upon release, sold very bad, like 1,200 copies bad. so why was i only now discovering this? there was virtually nothing on this at all, and by nothing i mean no discogs page which i usually would expect on things. it just seemed to exist. anyways, i got the damn thing and that's when i started to figure out what's going on.

while scanning it i decided to translate the obi just out of pure curiosity.

for the sake of this here's what the back top half translated as:

This is the major label debut album of Spoon, a trio from Austin, Texas. Formed in 1992, they released the album "Telephono" in 1996 and the EP "Soft Effects" in 1997 on Matador. They made waves on the college charts while steadily increasing their fan base through tours with Yo La Tengo, Guided by Voices, and others. The dull and rough performance typical of an American indie guitar band is perfectly matched with catchy melodies.

pretty standard, normal OBI stuff. however, the part that made me notice we have something odder on our hands was the chunk at the bottom:

one thing i noticed straight away was the date of the album release (written year/month/day here) was august 15th. now, sneaks was released on april 28th in the US and got dropped 3 months post-release, in july. so this little thing seemingly existed after they got dropped which in itself, is kind of crazy. i also found it a little odd that its japanese release was so delayed, usually with a lot of them they are either slightly before western release or maybe a month later at that – but i could be wrong.

moving onto the red text, i have several japanese releases and their OBIs so seeing this was kind of strange. so again, i translated it:

Sample product This sample product is not for sale and has been loaned for promotional purposes. Any use other than the intended purpose (such as transferring or transferring to a third party) is strictly prohibited.

interesting! a promo product! wasn't expecting it to be a promo release, which made it more mysterious and illusive. usually promo material exists before an album release so this factored in with the almost 4 months after US release date was even more baffling.

i don't really know japanese album issue standards so if this is normal i wouldn't know, but it is maybe worth comparing it to this promotional copy of justice's † which has a release date of june 6 – a mere 5 days before its western release on june 11. just something to note, i guess.

anyways, with that scanned and looked at, i knew i'd never have the heart to open it to find out what the little japanese booklet contained. thought it was over, leaving with more questions than answers. however by some fucking stroke of sheer luck i managed to locate ANOTHER copy of it that was unsealed and contained the japanese booklet which, despite not having its OBI, was worth obtaining for the sake of preservation.

↑ first thing i noticed that was really cool but not really relevant to this at all – i just think its neat sorry – is that the outer spine on the inlay is written in japanese while the inner is in english. the OBI on my sealed one obscured that!

upon opening it up to get the booklet out, i noticed that it was well, a sheet, and a one-sided one at that. all the other sheets i've scanned have been double sided, one side has a write-up the reverse has all the lyrics translated into japanese.

here's a rough translation of all of that:

In the March 1997 issue of Crossbeat, I wrote a column called "Dislocated Rock, Played by the Distortion of Regional Cities." The column introduced the indie guitar bands (in the broad sense of the word) that were emerging simultaneously all over the United States at the time and invading the college charts one after another. The bands featured are Pavement, Neutral Milk Hotel, Archers of Loaf and their side unit, Barry Black, Number One Cup, Cake, and Built to Spill, a total of seven bands. I would say that what they have in common is "songs and performances that somehow seem to work on the edge of breaking down" and "melodies that don't pierce the ears, but penetrate the ears and stick to the folds of the brain."

I go on to point out that "they appear to have grown up in relatively wealthy families in regional cities (all seven bands are from regional cities), but the brutal Uranai rock and sweet melodies they play symbolize the dark side of suburban life, which may seem happy at first glance," and concludes by saying that the dark side of suburban life, that is, the distortion of regional cities," is one of the themes of modern America, so they are the most American of all." Basically, that idea hasn't changed, but now I think we can add another commonality: they see rock music as a part of their daily lives, as if it were a given. In other words, rock is the "ke" of "hare and ke." So their performance is sometimes rough, sometimes languid, reflecting the mood of the day, or rather, the mood that changes from moment to moment. In that difference in amplitude, I feel the breath of these so-called indie guitar bands living in regional cities.

Spoon, who recently made their major label debut, are originally an indie guitar band that blossomed in one of those local cities. Their major label debut album, "Series of Sneaks," is, so to speak, the result of indie guitar rock that was carefully crafted without being poisoned by trends fabricated in the heart of the music industry.

The band was formed in 1992 in Austin, Texas, with Britt Daniel (vocals/guitar), who worked on sound effects for CD-ROM games at a computer software company, as the core member, along with Wendell Stivers (guitar), currently with Sincola, Andy McGuire (bass), currently with Ursa Major, and Jim Eno (drums).

Just before their debut live show (they were going to play at a club and suddenly needed a band name), Daniel picked out some words he liked from his record collection as candidates for the band name, and all the members voted on it, and the name was decided to be "Spoon." Incidentally, the name was taken from the title of a song by the representative German rock band Can. However, what's interesting is that Daniel said, "I think it's the most boring word I've chosen."

And they called Fluffer and Peek-A-Boo, while recording for small indie bands, they also began to play live in the local Austin club scene, aiming to imitate Modern Lovers, Wire, Pixies, and Lou Reed. After Stivers left the band, Daniel took over as guitarist.

A turning point came in 1994, when they appeared at Anti-South by Southwest in Austin (apparently an alternative version of the South by Southwest rock festival held annually in Austin), and their performance caught the eye of Gerald Cosley, president of Matador Records, a major New York indie label. The following year, they signed with Matador.

By the time they toured with Yo La Tengo, Archers of Loaf, Guided by Voices, Pavement and others, they had steadily gained a fan base, and in 1996, they recorded the album Telephono with Austin producer John Croslin and the EP Soft Effects, which were hits on the college charts.

Incidentally, after the release of "Telephono," McGuire left the band. The bass player was replaced by Croslin and Scott Adair (currently with Paranoids), who also participated in the recording of "Soft Effects, but then left in the middle of the tour. At the end of 1996, Joshua Zarbo, who was in a band called Maxes Rajater in Denton, joined the band as his replacement, and they began recording at their own expense, produced by Croslin.

The material that was completed over the course of a year in 1997 was released in April (in the US) under the title "Series of Sneaks", after they signed with major label Elektra Records earlier this year.

Just to be sure, let's summarise the lineup once again:

Jim Eno (ds) Then there's Brad Shenfeld, the unsung member of the trio. Shenfeld, the self-described spiritual leader and percussionist of Spoon, lives in Baja, Mexico, as a fisherman and has been touring and recording with the band since its formation.

John Croslin, who is a producer but also used to play bass and is almost a fourth (or maybe fifth, since Shenfeld is there?) member of the band, was originally a musician who led a guitar pop band called Reivers in Austin, and released two albums for local indie band DB (their debut is a masterpiece!). After the band broke up, he apparently turned to being a producer. In addition to Spoon, he also produced two albums for fellow rock'n'roll/power pop band Wannabes. He must be something of a leading figure in the Austin indie scene.

By the way, the music magazines over there keep mentioning the Pixies in this album.

I have listed and introduced them, but when I first heard them, I thought it was like Pavement playing The Who's songs. I think what I wrote in the first half of this article applies to their appeal, but specifically, their two main elements, the rough performance that is typical of an indie guitar band, and the subtle melody that lives within it (the impressive song melodies are layered with skilful chord changes), are firmly utilised in every song, from 1, which reminds me a little of Slade's "That's Why I Love You," to the murderously beautiful 14 there are certain things that are clearly utilised in every song.

This kind of melody (which doesn't really pierce the ear, but enters through the ear and sticks softly to the folds of the brain) is combined with a performance that is straight but distorted in a way, distorted but still straight, to create an intense and extremely raw sense of elation. This rawness would never be produced in the polished and harsh mainstream rock (I'm not saying that I'm denying mainstream rock music.)

Another highlight of this album is the performance or arrangement, where solid guitar riffs and lead guitars that sound like they are numb from a weak electric current are interwoven in each song, or even within a single song, to enrich the overall expression. Also, I really like how they don't resort to the method that indie bands tend to do, which is to blur the outline of the song and create a chaotic atmosphere, but instead focus on clearly outlining the song and ending each song concisely. Or rather, I think this properly conveys the image of the band Spoon and the impression of this album to the listener.

Well, overall the performance is relaxed, or rather there's nothing pretentious about it, but the explosiveness and concentration they show (and let us hear) when they lose their temper on tracks 6, 8, 11, 13 remind us that they still have that initial impulse, and it also makes you realise the unfathomable depths of this band. This album already ranked 14th on the College Chart dated May 18th (it remained at 14th on the chart dated June 1st), but even though they have moved to a major label, it doesn't have much sex appeal. I hope that they will continue to evolve and deepen their music at their own pace, without releasing anything (the same can be said for Elektra). However, I'm guessing that these people have nothing to do with such sex appeal. Or rather, as you progress step by step at your own pace, you might find yourself rising to the top of the scene before you know it. So let's all watch over the long term.

By the way, at the end of 2, the lead guitar suddenly plays the melody of "Sakura Sakura", but I wonder if it's just me hearing it?

once i got around to scanning the disc i noticed that there was something up, that something being a massive red text SAMPLE stamped in the center.

so not only did i find another japanese copy of sneaks, i found another promotional copy. what luck!

with all of that i have to assume: there was no actual wide domestic of a series of sneaks in japan and that all japanese copies that exist of it are entirely promotional – all other copies i have seen on japanese resale are mostly elektra US imports (with the odd merge reissue). with that, it's more than likely a full domestic release was abandoned as soon as the band got dropped – but this release existing well after that is just... odd i feel?

i leave this again with questions rather than answers, but i think it's safe to make some assumptions now. a very interesting little thing indeed.

Stumbled over a prompt list for Fantasy Indies on Instagram, so I thought it'd be fun to take part in the list of April's prompts and questions...

Who Can Your Main Character Trust?

But it's not so much who CAN the MC trust, but who they THINK they can trust, am I right?

This is such a good question for Lizzy especially. Because there’s quite a lot of people she CAN trust, but only a handful she believes she’s able to trust.

And trust is something that’s going to come up a lot in Darkling. Particularly between Lizzy and Andric. There were more than a few lies Lizzy told in Changeling, and her distrust of people is an inherent part of Lizzy’s formative years.

But for those who Lizzy can trust, some of those people could be a bit of a spoiler for the series, and as for people Lizzy actually does trust, the list remains pretty small despite her genuine attempts to open up more.

Booker and her mother are at the top of Lizzy’s list, of course. Prior to coming to the mortal realm, they were the only people in the world that Lizzy trusted.

Cara, and especially Andric, have proved that Lizzy can trust them, and she knows she can, but it’s still a bit of a work in progress. She’s trying to remember she can trust them, but sometimes she stumbles and has to remind herself.

There is also Nameer, and at least two more characters newly introduced in Darkling, but Lizzy’s unsure about them at the moment, and anything I could say would be heading rapidly into spoiler territory...

Ah, y'know what, here's all the birthday headcanons I have:

Mother 1

Ninten: May 16th, which makes him a Taurus.

Lloyd: January 25th. He is an Aquarius.

Ana: December 23rd, which makes her a Capricorn. This birthday is actually canon according to the Mother 1 Manual.

Teddy: September 28th. He is a Libra.

Maria: July 27th, making her a Leo. This day is also Earthbound Beginning's Japanese release day, so thank you for kicking everything off, Maria!

Mother 2

Ness: August 27th, which makes him a Virgo. This day is also Earthbound's Japanese release date!

Paula: April 22nd. She is a Taurus. I also headcanon that she shares a birthday with Pokey and they both absolutely hate this, lol!

Jeff: February 24th, making him a Pisces.

Poo: November 11th. His star sign is Scorpio. He was also born two years before Ness and Paula and one year before Jeff, which makes him the oldest in the party despite being born the latest in the year.

Pokey: April 22nd. He is also a Taurus, and like I said earlier, I headcanon that he shares a birthday with Paula and they both despise this.

Tony: September 21st. He is also a Virgo.

Dr. Andonuts: April 3rd. He is an Aries. I headcanon that he doesn't really celebrate his birthday beyond maybe eating a donut for the occasion, but that's mostly because he won't pass up an occasion to have one. Oh well ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Mother 3:

Lucas & Claus: June 2nd, making these twins born under the Twin star sign, Gemini. What a coincidence!

Kumatora: September 17th. She is a Virgo. She was also born during Bisexual Awareness Week, so uh. Be aware :)

Duster: November 30th, which makes him a Sagittarius. As an aside, I thought that the Sagittarius Bracelet could only be worn by him, but after fumbling around in my copy of Mother 3, apparently that bracelet can be worn by any human in the party. But since Lucas and Kumatora both have their own exclusive bracelets (something something, headcanon about PSI correlation, but this would be digressing), there's only one of these per game, and it's considered the ultimate arm armor out of all the options available, I've always kinda seen it as his "exclusive" bracelet. This is something we call ~artistic liberties~

Flint: July 3rd, making him a Cancer. Look, I know that technically the best bracelet he gets in his section of the game is the Aquarius Bracelet if memory serves, but I am pretending that the Aquarius Bracelet is his "ultimate" equipment only because he doesn't have access to anything better at that point in the story. Besides, he gives me the vibes of someone born around mid-summer rather than in the winter. Again, artistic liberties.

Hinawa: April 20th. She is right on the Aries/Taurus cusp, depending on who you ask. This is also Mother 3's release date :)

Personally, I like the idea of the bracelets in Mother 3 corresponding to each character's respective star sign, because it's essentially like saying, "yeah astrology is real in the Mother Series, but it's only really relevant for this one item. Now put on the bracelet so I can fight you, boy"

My OG Riley had to be a part of this. She had to be. She started the wacky drabbles journey with me, it’s only fitting, my final submission is with her.

Summary: Riley moves in with Taylor until her apartment is vacated by Liam. Nico and Riley begin an relationship together. Team Liam launches an offensive to help bring Liam and Riley back together.

A/N: This is very special to me. So please be kind. I’m writing this as a tribute story to my Riley FC, the late Cheslie Kryst, in a way to deal with my grief which has almost been consuming my life. I started following her in 2019 when I was watching the Miss USA pageant. I rooted for her immediately. Not only was she from my home state, but she was just this bright twinkling light on stage, she was a minority, like me. So when I came to the fandom in January 2020 and started writing stories for TRR I picked her as my Riley FC because she embodied what I wanted my “Riley” character to be. Even in her untimely passing, I am still finding out more about her life and I have written her pretty accurately, even down to having depression. So I will say it again. If you need help please reach out.

A/N: Last weekend I did a balloon release in honor of Cheslie’s birthday on the 28th of April. It was very cathartic. I think it helped. I still really miss her a lot, and hope she saw me in that moment, how much I did care for her as person.

A/N2: This is the conclusion of A Piece of Heaven on Earth, I still plan to do an epilogue. I hope you have enjoyed what I have created so far in Cheslie’s honor.

"Surprise!!!!"

"Riley oh my God! You’re here!"

“Guess who’s out of the hospital to crash with their baby sister!?!?!”

“I would have picked you up! Why didn’t you call me?”

"I didn’t want to be a burden, all you guys have had a hard time the last five months. It's okay! Besides, Nico was nice enough to call out of work, yet come to pick me up, from where we both work, and he’s doing all the manual labor of carrying all my stuff for me. Let him work."

“I heard that!” Nico said with a smile as he walked up and stood next to her, holding several boxes and a bag slung over his shoulder.

"I didn't mind helping you all out. Anything for my boo."

"Alrighty."

Taylor almost wanted to throw up in her mouth a bit. Riley was not "his boo." He only won this round by a technicality.

Chance shared Taylor's sentiment and started growling at Nico from the door, but as soon as Nico passed the threshold into the house, Chance immediately started barking at Nico.

"Chance! Be nice!"

Riley said sternly to Chance causing him to whimper for a few moments. But the low guttural growl remained as he watched Nico. Chance did not like Nico, not one bit. Chance’s main man was Liam.

Taylor smiled, it was like Chance was telling Nico, "Man Whore! Stay away from my Mama! She's already taken!!!!"

"You sure you don't mind putting me up for the next two weeks Tay?"

“Of course not! You’ll just have to sleep in the baby’s crib though.”

“What?”

“I’m kidding. KIDDING. Actually, we have a nice patch of floor cleared next to Chance’s dog bed you can sleep on.”

“With a sister like you, who needs enemies?”

“Max help Nico please!”

She pulled Riley inside by her arm.

“No Riley, we got you.” Taylor teared up hugging her.

"Tay, I'm fine."

"Riley you just don't understand what these months have been like without you. I felt like half of me was gone. The best half, and the not punctual side."

Taylor laughed through the tears.

"Sure you missed me? Don't make me fall asleep for another three months."

"Too soon Riley. That joke was not even funny."

Taylor shoved Riley but then pulled her in a hug.

“I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Be punctual maybe?”

“Exactly.”

At dinner Taylor intently watched Riley with Nico. They seemed close, friendly even, but something about them just seemed off. There was something about the way Riley responded to him touching her. Nico was teetering on clingy, which was definitely a turnoff. Yes, it was clear he was completely smitten with her sister, but Riley didn’t seem to be completely relaxed with him, like she couldn’t be her true self with him. Riley didn’t seem that into him honestly.

That evening Taylor decided to talk to Riley for a bit, and offer her some free sisterly advice as she was settling down to sleep in the guest room.

“Hey Rye, are you comfortable?”

“Better than sleeping in a crib or sharing Chance’s dog bed with him. I’m fine, thank you for letting him sleep in here with me. He hasn’t left my side since I’ve been here. Chance was always affectionate, but this is next level for him.”

She looked down at him, smiling as his head rested on her stomach. He licked her hand again, nuzzling it, causing Riley to rub his snout. Chance’s tail wagged happily.

"I love you too boy." She gently scratched his forehead. Chance's tail wagged so much his whole body shook.

“He missed you Riley, so much. We all thought we were going to lose you. So what’s really up with you and Nico?”

“He’s nice. He makes me laugh, and you know, he’s not perfect, but I can tell he really cares about me, and I don’t want to be alone anymore. Life’s so short, and it made me realize I work so much and don’t have anyone to spend my time off with other than Chance and you guys. Nico is not a bad guy.”

“He's not a bad guy Riley, but he’s not the right guy Riley. He’s not. You just said it yourself. Life’s too short! Don’t you feel it? You could be connected to someone, the way you always hoped, that you were. Like something’s missing. Someone is missing?”

“Everyone doesn’t get that feeling Taylor, like the world stops when they meet someone. I’ve never felt that before.”

“You had it, you just don’t remember. Try to remember Riley. Nico’s nice, but he’s not the one you’re supposed to be with.”

That night when Riley was sleeping Chance woke up abruptly when she came into the room. He growled softly; Riley stirred but did not wake.

“I am not going to hurt her, you little flea bag, I just need to give her a message.”

Olivia leaned closer to Riley’s ear.

"You know, you had one job Riley. Now I'm back to fix this. It's because I love him; I always will and he deserves to be happy is the only reason that I'm doing this for you. Otherwise, I'd let you stay with the overly clingy Man Whore. You're welcome. Go to Apple Valley Park tomorrow morning for a run, and take your miserable mutt with you.”

She looked at Chance.

"And yes, I am referring to you. You know what to do, Chance.” Olivia bonked him on his nose.

“That’s one down, one to go.”

This was harder than she thought. She watched Liam sleeping; she sat on the edge of the bed.

"Hi my love. You turned out exactly how I feared you would, from my passing. And yes it means a lot to me that you held me in your heart for all this time as your wife, and I love you for it, but you have to let me go, it's time, dear heart, it's time. I was your first love. And being loved by you Liam Rys, is a treasure that I will cherish for all eternity. But, Riley Brooks is your last love. So I'm going to tell you exactly what you need to do to help her remember you. You will know what to do when it's time to reclaim her heart. But for now in the morning, go get breakfast at that place we used to love to go for bagels and muffins, get a coffee and go to Apple Valley Park, find a bench where the sun shines bright on you and warms you up, and just enjoy the morning. Chance will find you. And soon, she will find her way back to you too. Be patient, and when the time is right, seal it with a kiss."

Olivia turned to walk away.

"Liv?"

She slowly turned around to face him, giving him a small wave.

"You were supposed to be sleeping Liam."

Liam's eyes were filled with tears. "I miss you so much Liv, and I don't deserve you doing this for me."

"I miss you, and yes you do. Liam, what happened to me wasn't your fault. Stop blaming yourself; there is nothing that you could have done differently to save me. Riley was able to be saved, and you did it. You did a very selfless thing for her. Be patient with her, Liam. Take things slow. Deep down, she feels the same about you, that you feel about her. And I know you tried not to, but it couldn't be helped, you fell in love with her. And it's okay."

"Thank you Liv."

"You're welcome."

The next morning Riley woke up to Chance licking her face.

“I’m up. I’m up! You know I’m technically still on vacation for a bit right? We get to sleep in a little you know? But you don’t care. You know what, how about after breakfast we go to the park. Work off the bacon and pancakes we’re both about to eat. What do you say boy? Wanna go running?"

Chance happily barked in response.

Riley was ambitious in her workout gear,

thinking she’d go running through the park. The run turned quickly into a jog, which just as quickly turned into a fast paced walk.

“Mama has to get her endurance back up, Whew. I don’t remember walking being this much of a workout. It’s okay though, we’re still getting some exercise in.”

Chance was preoccupied and kept sniffing the ground as they walked.

“Let’s go this way, Chance,” she gave him a gentle tug on his collar, but he instead started in the opposite direction.

“Okay maybe not. We’ll go where you want to today. No it’s cool, all that obedience training we did together that I paid for, for you to have me follow the leader? It’s cool bro.”

After a few minutes, Chance lunged, breaking the leash from his collar and took off running.

“Dammit Chance, we already established Mama can’t run like she used to!!!!”

Chance had quite the lead, Riley tried to follow whilst screaming every command she could at him to get him to stop, but he wasn’t listening to her at all. Chance had a singular purpose in mind, find Liam and he had finally picked up his scent.

Liam closed his eyes and smiled when he heard a dog's barking approaching him as he sat on the park bench. Sitting his coffee down and half eaten bagel, he stood and turned, seeing Chance bounding over the hill, happily barking heading straight towards him; Chance had found him.

He knelt down to pet Chance who was clearly happy to see him.

“Good boy, you found me! Riley said you were the bestest boy."

Liam looked around in confusion. Riley was nowhere in sight.

"Where is your mom?"

Finally Riley emerged over the hill, screaming Chance's name.

“I promise you he won't bite!!!” She screamed from a distance out of breath. She leaned over her right hand on her hip; She looked like she was almost dry heaving.

Liam tapped his pant leg. “Come on, boy, let's take you back to your mom. She’s not coming down that hill. She looks tired."

Liam laughed softly at Riley’s sight.

Riley had sat down on the hill waiting for Chance to be brought back.

“Lose someone?” Liam asked as he sat next to Riley on the hill.

“You’d think a dog with short legs couldn’t run that damn fast. Or I'm just that damn slow lately."

She glanced up to his face.

“It’s you. Liam right?”

“Yeah. Hi Riley."

"How are you?"

"I'm doing great. No I'm exaggerating, I'm doing good."

Riley laughed at his joke.

“Chance went all Hulk and snapped his collar.”

“Let me see, maybe I can fix it.”

As she handed Liam the collar, his fingers grazed her wrist, and what felt like an electric shock passed between the two of them.

Riley quickly drew her hand back from his, her mind drifting, she heard her own voice at the top of her lungs singing obnoxiously like it was a faint memory.

“One thousand bottles of tahitian treat on the wall, a thousand bottles of tahitian treat……”

"Isn't there a light you should be walking into, or considering your less than sunny disposition, infamous lake of fire?”

She looked at Liam. It sounded like his voice in the memory?

“I fixed it. Are you alright? You look pale.”

"I'm fine." But Riley was continuing to stare at him oddly.

“If it’s all the same to you, I’m going to get you some water, okay?”

"That really sounds good. Thank you."

Liam came back a few minutes later with bottled water for Riley.

“It’s no Tahitian Treat, but it will get the job done.”

“That’s my favorite drink. How did we know each other Liam?”

He immediately remembered how Riley's Mother reacted to the news. He couldn't have that happen again or Riley to be afraid of him.

He heard Olivia's voice tell him to be patient.

“Our paths just randomly crossed. Do you mind if I walk you back home just to make sure you make it there safely?”

“I’m fine with that.”

As they walked he noticed Riley was walking slower.

"Are your feet hurting?"

"If I said yes, would you carry me?"

"Yes, I would." Liam responded without missing a beat.

Riley surprisingly looked at him; she was blushing.

"Good to know chivalry isn't dead."

"If you've ever been wondering of its existence Riley, that means you're with the wrong man."

Riley turned to face him.

“You’re with the wrong man.” Liam said again.

Riley's eyes widened, and her breath hitched as she stared at him.

Wake up Riley and see me he thought to himself, I know you can feel it too. For a brief moment he saw a spark in her eyes, but it faded as quickly as it appeared. She broke his intense gaze, motioning to the house.

"Well this is us. Thank you Liam for the water, and walking my dog for me."

"I didn’t mind at all. He's a great dog." He handed Chance's leash back to Riley.

Taylor opened the door and when she saw Liam standing on the porch with Riley, she abruptly slammed it back.

“Well that WAS my sister.”

Riley went to the door turning the doorknob and while Riley's back was turned Liam smiled. What was Taylor up to?

"Okay….and she locked the door too. You want to sit on the porch with me until I'm allowed back in? It’s a nice morning, and we have a kick ass porch swing here."

And that’s what Taylor was up to.

“Sure.”

Liam sat on the porch swing with Riley, and instead of Chance coming to her, he sat at Liam's feet playing with one of his dog toys.

"Chance seems really taken by you. Did we hang out with you a lot?"

"No. I only met Chance once. Not trying to boast, but dogs are excellent judges of people’s characters. So it should tell you a lot, if a dog doesn’t like someone you’re around."

“That’s right!” Taylor screamed from inside the house.

“And we have an audience. Taylor, are you going to let me in or what?”

There was silence.

“And she’s ignoring me.”

There was more silence until the window opened.

"Psssst. Hey Liam….Liam…. come over here."

Liam walked over to the window and Taylor handed him a small tray.

The tray included two slushy tahitian treats, which Liam took. Taylor winked at him, closing the window.

It felt like everyone knew they belonged together but Riley at this point.

Riley tossed the water aside, and when Liam sat next to her with the tray she grabbed one of the bottles off the tray.

The conversation started flowing between her and Liam. She felt so comfortable with him and it felt so natural, she couldn’t help it.

Riley released one of the biggest burps she’d ever released in front of a guy.

“I’m so sorry,” she commented laughing.

“No need to be sorry, that’s damn impressive. You could give some of the frat boys I knew in college a run for their money. That was really really good."

Liam laughed and burped at the same time.

“That didn’t feel good!” Both continued laughing.

Finally after a while Riley faintly heard the door unlock. Liam heard it too. He hoped Riley wouldn't just end the conversation and run inside,

instead they talked for two more hours and got delivered another tray of snacks.

Finally though Liam did not want to be the one to leave, he had to go sign the paperwork for his new apartment. He thought Riley looked disappointed that he had to go.

One Week Later

"Taylor, you know I love you, and I say this from a place of love right? But you are freakishly obsessed with your sister’s love life, get away from the window!"

"Well I wouldn't be so obsessed if she wasn't with the wrong guy Max. She was supposed to meet Liam the night of her accident. And she still met him."

"She's a grown woman Taylor, hell!! She's your older sister."

"By only six minutes I might add."

"Still older. Let her make her own decisions."

"This is not the right one." Taylor rubbed her stomach.

At that moment Riley walked in the door pulling Nico by the hand.

Chance immediately started his low guttural growl as they went up stairs.

Riley locked the door behind Nico, and he pushed her against the door kissing her.

"Are you sure you want me to stay with you tonight?"

Riley bit her lip and nodded, she pulled off her top revealing bare skin to him. Riley was everything he imagined. Nico yanked off his shirt revealing his finely chiseled physique, Riley raised her eyebrow at him. Both liked what the other had revealed. Nico took that as a green light and grabbed her, pulling her close to him. As Nico picked her up, she wrapped her legs around him, and he loudly groaned, tightening his grip around her. They tumbled onto the bed together.

He cupped her breasts in his hands gently caressing her.

Nico whispered. "I've been wanting this for so long, Riley. I’ve imagined this moment so many times.”

Instead of responding back, she kissed him again. She couldn’t say the same. She had never had a fantasy about Nico. Not even one. Yes he was handsome, but he never invaded her thoughts in that way. She didn't mean for her mind to wander as his kisses had drifted to her neck, but it did. To many things, the way Chance always barked and growled in Nico's presence, talking with Liam on the porch, how he listened so intently to her,

and at the park… then something different but she felt like she was seeing it for the first time but it was her with Liam. But she didn’t remember this happening.

"Let's watch the sunset together, it looks like it's going to be a beautiful one."

They were together in a beautiful garden in the evening.

Side by side they stood, watching the sunset together enjoying a peaceful silence.

“Are your feet hurting?”

“What would you do if they were, if I was your girlfriend?”

“I’d carry you Riley.”

Riley smiled at Liam. She could tell from her body language, she liked him so much, the most she had ever liked someone.

“What do you think it would have been like, if we would have met that night?”

“I wouldn’t have been able to take my eyes off you, in that dress. Just like now.”

“I wish it would have happened like that.”

Riley’s heart was racing, but it wasn’t for Nico.

"Nico…"

"I want you." Nico grunted his hands sliding up her skirt.

"No, Nico, I can't do this with you, I'm sorry."

Nico quickly pulled his hands away from her, but he could not hide the disappointment in his eyes.

"What's wrong?"

"This doesn't feel right."

"What can I do to make this right for you?"

"This isn’t about you Nico, it’s about me."

"I love you Riley, I always have."

"I love you too Nico, as a friend, and I don’t feel the way I should about you to be with you this way. I’ve been trying because I know how much you care."

"It’s because of him isn’t it? He told Hana he was your boyfriend."

“He what?”

“But you don’t even remember him, Riley. You let ME kiss you that day, not him!!!!! That should tell you something. How good was he to you if you can’t even remember him?”

“And Chance doesn’t like you.”

“Well Chance is an asshole.”

Riley laughed in shock, pushing Nico away from her.

“Dogs are great judges of character, and they know other dogs when they see them. You know that staying the night was clearly not a good idea, maybe you should leave Nico.”

“You’re right, maybe I should.”

Nico quickly got dressed and left, and that’s how Riley really knew he wasn’t the right one for her. She really didn’t care. Her mind drifted back to what appeared like a memory that she had no recollection of in the moment. Was it real? Something she imagined about him? Liam seemed so genuine.

The next day Riley decided to go to her apartment to see him. She knocked on the door, there was no answer. She looked to the fire hydrant, and found her spare key and walked inside. There was no sign of Liam anymore, as he had moved out. Her other key to the apartment was lying on the counter. She had no way of getting in touch with him.

Liam’s was settling into his new apartment was ironically two blocks away from Riley’s, and it was still close enough for him to walk to the Bodega for tahitian treats, which was what he was doing that day when the idea struck him. He knew what he had to do. Liv said he’d know what he needed to do when the time was right.

He didn’t know exactly when Riley would be moving back in. So time was of the essence. He had a plan.

Two days later, Taylor took Riley home.

“Dad had the place cleaned, but Liam was really neat, so it really didn’t need it. Does it feel good to be home?”

“It does.”

“I loved having you at the house, but I know you need your space Rye.”

“Thank you for having me.”

Taylor gave her one last hug before she left.

Riley exhaled flopping onto her couch.

“It’s finally just us again boy.” she whispered to Chance scratching his head. Chance curled up on the couch next to her.

It was a beautiful day, too beautiful to be sitting indoors. She decided to get up and go up to the rooftop of her apartment.

Riley pushed the door open and was met by a blinding light. When her eyes finally adjusted, she was standing on the rooftop of her apartment that had been converted into a garden oasis. It was her garden, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Who did this for her?

“And who the hell is going to take care of all of this? I’ve legit got a brown thumb. Mother Nature or God, I’m gonna need you to handle this!!!!” Riley chuckled to herself, starting to wander through the beautiful and sweet smelling flowers.

There was a seat in the middle and on it sat a white rose. For her? It better be, it was her damn garden on top of her damn apartment. She picked up the freshly clipped de-thorned rose, lifting it up to her nose, to breathe it in. She closed her eyes as she sighed contentedly. It was the most fragrant rose and its lovely scent filled her nostrils. Riley sat relaxing, basking in the sweet air and the warm sunshine.

Then she heard a voice… it was his voice, gentle, and so smooth it felt like he was part of the breeze.

“I wrote you a poem. It’s the first one I've ever written, because I felt so inspired by your effortless beauty…

Soft, Sweet….

Sensually Smiling

Sighs… Softly…..

Shifting Stares….

Sharing Secrets…..

Shhhh……

Shuffling Silently

My Sweet Star.”

Footsteps approached her, and then a hand caressed her shoulder.

She knew it was him, her soulmate , the one she had always been waiting for. Riley immediately turned to gaze into his face, the man that had just made her grin like a giddy school girl in love.

She turned to see… Liam standing there.

“Nice poem, but when have you known me to be silent?”

Liam burst out laughing.

"I'm noisy, belch loudly, and teeter on being obnoxious at times."

"You are, and I wouldn't have it any other way."

“Liam, tell me the truth. I see how you look at me. I can feel love leaping off of you in my direction, and I have these memories of you I don’t know how to explain, that I can't remember happened, but I feel like they are real.”

“They are real.”

“So, we’ve been in a garden before?”

“Yes, we have."

"Why don't I remember it? It feels like I am watching a memory, not like I lived it."

"But you did live it Riley, and we meant something special to each other. "

"How did you get back into my apartment? You left your key."

"The spare key you keep under the fire hydrant."

"I had to trust you to tell you about that."

"You did Riley. You trusted me."

Riley stepped closer to him.

"Why can't I remember you?"

"Because your heart stopped. But mine didn't and I remember every moment you and I spent together fighting to save your life.

The night of your accident Riley I was the blind date you were supposed to meet. We were fated to meet, and we still did. While you were in a coma, your spirit came to me wearing a blue dress and heels.”

Riley took another step towards him.

“You were everything you just said about yourself, that you just highlighted as faults, but they are not and still somehow I fell love with you. You’re my Casper the cranky ghost.”

Riley laughed out loud.

“That’s by far the craziest nickname anyone has ever given me.”

“Guess it’s fitting then because I’m crazy about you.”

He heard Olivia’s voice say “Now Liam!”

Riley’s breath hitched when Liam pulled her close. She closed her eyes as he closed in for their first kiss.

It was electrifying. After a few moments Riley abruptly pulled away bursting into tears.

“Liam!!!!”

She touched his face and then pressed her hand to his chest.

He rested his hand on hers.

“Finally I can really feel your warmth. I remember everything. Thank you and I’m sorry, I didn’t remember sooner.”

“It’s okay. We’re here now.”

Liam kissed Riley again.

“Would you like to stay for dinner Liam?”

“I’d love to.”

“I haven’t been to the grocery store yet, so are you okay with pizza?”

Finally Liam’s dream of a pizza night with Riley was coming true.

They went back down to Riley’s apartment where she ordered a large pizza.

“I did leave you a few things though.”

Liam opened the pantry door, there sat a case of tahitian treats.

“Um, two of those need to be in the freezer like right now.”

“You got it.”

She watched the two of them start to find their way together, as a new couple. Both a little giddy after all they had been through and finally reuniting with each other once again. Liam paid for the pizza when it arrived while Riley set the table and pulled out the drinks. They genuinely looked so happy together. It did hurt her a little watching how comfortable Liam was with her. Riley was the remaining chapters in the book of his life. Riley would be the one that Liam would have children with and grow old with.

“Well Flea bag, my work here is done. And for the record, she’s not the only one you’ll do tricks for. So Let’s Dance Chance!”

Liam caught Olivia out of the corner of his eye for a split second before she disappeared, dancing with Chance, then only he remained dancing in a circle on his hind paws.

He smiled back at Riley.

“Got any plans for next week?”

“I mean nothing firm set up yet why?”

“Let’s go to New York.”

The trip neither thought they would be able to take together.

“I'd thought you’d never ask. "

Our Flag Means Data

As we all know, Our Flag Means Death has exploded onto fandom in a very short amount of time, and we still don’t have any news about a season 2 so one day at like 3 am I decided that it would be a great idea to see if I can do some data about it. More specifically, I wanted to see if there was any relationship between the stuff that was happening in the show and people writing (or not writing) fic about it. We all remember SPN Finale-pocalypse, when you had to go 50 pages back in the ao3 results to find anything written before that episode - was something similar happening here?

Quick numbers:

We have produced 2131 fanworks in 34 days!!!

The total wordcount was 6,497,681 (yes that’s almost 6.5 million words about gay pirates) - y’all are SO PRODUCTIVE.

Average wordcount: 3042

Est. words per day: 191108

The first fic on Ao3 was posted on March 9 - six days after the initial batch of episodes dropped (e01-e03). OFMD has a very weird release schedule where they didn’t do the standard one-episode-per-week model OR the Netflix release-everything-at-once model.

By April 3rd, there were over 1000 works - meaning that less than a month after the first fanfic appeared, the fandom was already ineligible for Yuletide.

So far, the day with the highest activity was April 4 - 211 works were posted that day.

The graph above shows very quick growth, but a running total will always look kind of inflated, so lets look at it in more detail:

Here we have the number of works posted per day, and some more interesting patterns. I’ve also plotted the wordcount as the dashed line, and added annotations for when each batch of episodes came out.

We start to see fandom activity start out fairly slow - It wasn’t until after episodes 7-8 (”This is Happening” and “We Gull Way Back”) were released that you get more than 1-2 posts each day. Is this the point at which we all clued into the premise of the show and realized it wasn’t just queer-baiting?

March 26 and 27 saw another spike when the last two episodes came out - you had more fics than the previous day (and it helped that this was a weekend, so people had time to write as many fix-its as they wanted). This is also when the ship was DEFINITELY confirmed, we had an actual kiss, everyone lost their collective shit. The increase after this was a bit slower, but still steady - even if there are falling-off periods like on March 28th, it never does back to the previous level.

I’m really curious about the two REALLY big spikes that we see on April 2nd and 10th.

This graph uses the same daily fic count as the one above, but now we are plotting only the difference from the previous day:

So we are seeing some ebbs and flows in the activity. It’s difficult to make a real comparison to SPN Finale because, well... Supernatural had 15 years’ worth of fic before that, as well as its own fandom migrations, wank, and controversies.

In conclusion...

This whole thing started because I saw someone in the OFMD tag say that people only started watching the show once they knew that Blackbonnet was canon -- I thought, huh I wonder if that’s true, maybe I can do a chart or something. And, well, a couple of weeks later, I don’t know if I have a definitive answer to that question? It’s likely that a canon ship got people talking more and drew some folks in who may not have otherwise been interested -- the “oh it’s queer? Yeah I’m in” argument works on me very often.

Do we see an increase in fanfic production after The Kiss happened? Yes. But because episodes 9 and 10 were released at the same time, it’s hard to untangle which works were written in response to what without looking at the tags. As I was writing this I realized something as well, which I didn’t consider at first: When do we we consider Ed/Stede to have been made “canon” ?

The episode when they kiss is an easy choice, but probably an equally large number of people would say it’s episode 7, “This Is Happening”. I’m sure for some people it was their adorable moonlight exchange in episode 5. Maybe for others it was another moment when they knew it was canon. If you’re David Jenkins, it was probably canon from the very first episode, we the audience just didn’t know about it yet.

Ultimately, I’m not sure it matters. People find different fandoms in all sorts of different ways -- through larger fandom spaces, recs from friends and popular blogs, or even just out in the wild. And people some people did only decide to watch the show once they knew they wouldn’t be queer-baited, which is absolutely their right! Consume your blorbos as you will :)

Caveats and assumptions

I only looked at what was posted on Ao3 because that’s what I have the most access to and am most familiar with in terms of stats and how the data is structured. It’s possible there are other folks who’ve already tracked the growth on Twitter/Tumblr or other social medias.

Data was taken from the main fandom tag: https://archiveofourown.org/tags/Our%20Flag%20Means%20Death%20(TV)/works; Out of the 2131 works, only 55 were marked as crossovers.

“Date posted” and “date updated” a bit tricky to distinguish if you’re just looking at the work results and not going into each individual work/chapter/series. I don’t think it’ll skew the data very much personally, since we’re looking at such a short timescale, but I might look at this in more detail later.

The fandom is VERY NEW. We only have data for a little over a month, so it’s hard to draw any sort of conclusions about whether the trend will keep going or not.

Currently, OFMD is only available through legitimate means on HBO Max - this will limit the reach of the fandom somewhat; yes, there are people who will consume the show through gifs and memes and fanart, or those who don’t mind reading fic if they’re not familiar with the source material, but it still seems like the relative exclusivity of the show is a factor.

As an addendum to that, I have no idea what/when/how aggressively this show was marketed. I personally only became aware of it through Tumblr, but I’m probably a poor barometer since I don’t have TV outside of streaming and don’t really pay attention to HBO. If someone wants to look at promotional efforts as they relate to fanwork production, I’d be really interested to see that! (Happy to share my dataset but it might be out of date by the time I post this with how fast y’all are writing)

A YEAR OF WRITING

Hey everyone! It's been another year, huh? Have you all found a place to rest just for a little while? Take a minute to drink and/or eat something, take a deep breath. As of today, December 28th, it's only a few days until we have made it through 2021.

A big shoutout to @ecwrenn who had the idea to this intersting, wonderful little event! A personal event for everyone so to say!

To everoyne who has told someone who doesn't write that you are writing a book: How many times did they ask you something like "When is the book ready??? When can we buy it, lol?" - Too many times, probably.

LET’S REWIND.

2021 - A writing year of ups and downs for me. While daydreaming, creating playlists and moodboards, and screaming about my OCs to a friend has helped me through each of my days of this year, the actual writing has started later this year. Compared to other writers on here that have been writing since they were kids or teens or young adults I am still pretty new to the writing game, roleplaying not included. I like to draw a line between these to things just for myself.

January to April, I don't remember anything from these months except for the release of Scrivener 3 for Windows. Great drop in March 2021, waited for it for so long and it was worth it.

May to June were two challenge months! In May, we had the wonderful Underwing challenge by the wonderful @jaxwolffwrites! Thank you for it! Even though I didn't have any adoptees this year (maybe next year? If the event will have a second year) I enjoyed the small conversations and rants about my stories and OCs a lot. A chance to think more about them and to consider questions asked I didn't think of before. And I am sorry that I skipped one question :(

June was the start of the 100 days of writing challenge which I followed for.... two whole days! Applause, applause, thank you!

July was as dry as the fields dried out by the hot summer sun.

August brought the first anniversay of Sacrifice! August 16th, yay! It's been an entire year in which I worked on a story solely created by myself. For someone who only did roleplaying with other people until then that was a big change and start of an exciting journey.

September, beautiful month, 30 days of birthday cake. Turning older probably gave my brain the kick in the butt it needed to reconsider my writing process. How I approach my own writing and for how long I want to be stuck in this loop of daydreaming, thinking of writing, not writing, feeling bad. Rinse and repeat. I found a blog that gave me the last push to face the demon in the back of my head that questioned everything I did. "What if people don't like this character or the new idea you added?", "Can you really change this little bit or would it disappoint people for [insert reason X]" or "Did you promise too much?"

And then October came around, along its buddy November and their little demon child NaNoWriMo. So I had to ask myself how I want to tackle NaNo this year. I don't do Preptobers, or outlines, or anything that forces me to sit down and do a lot of preparing. I do this at work and that's enough. So that was the chance to apply the new ideas I gathered from the blog found back in September. To tell myself the story in a rough draft. Just for myself, just for my own eyes, for no one else. If it's a messy hell of inconsistent thoughts - then so it be. So i started a new, needed rough draft for Sacrifice. That was my 'Preptober'.

November followed, and it hit me - us - in the guts. New year, new November, same, old game. Second NaNoWriMo for me to attend, and first one to win! With a word count of 50,006 words hit on November 30th I made it through the challenge! A damn roller coaster or highs and lows, of days with a word count of 0 up to 7,500 words in one day. Don't ask me how I did it, I am still baffled.

Sacrifice and Circus! Circus! became part of a trilogy in Project Soul. Third and first book, not enough material to connect them well yet but it was only the start.

And now - December. On December 1st I officially began the rough draft for Circus! Circus! while I put Sacrifice back into its drawer after devoting an entire month just to it. Struggled with the characters and story but that shouldn't be much of a concern for Circus! Circus!.

My writing notebook for the trilogy slowly becomes a partner in my time away from my laptop.

The first few words for the second book of the trilogy found their way into my mind and onto the page!

MY WRITING GOALS FOR 2022

Not a lot, to be honest. I don't want to push myself to hard and risk throwing away everything. Not as long as I don't have serious deadlines to follow. A possible goal is to finish one rough draft. It doesn't matter for which of the big projects - Circus! Circus! or Sacrifice. Or maybe we will have a surprise guest that will be done at the end of next year. On December 31st 2022 I just want to look back, pat myself on the back and say "Yup, I've made it. I can be proud of myself."

Klara and the sun - Wonderful book, enjoyed almost every minute of it. Klara... I miss her so much... a baby... I hope she's doing well. Please read the book.

Frankenstein - Viktor, bitch boy. I hate him, I miss him so much. Don't want to say he's kind of relatable but... maybe... I am not sure... But he's a bitch.

Mister Haiduk's Shop of Wishes (German Title: Herr Haiduks Laden der Wünsche) - I don't know if it has an english version but meh. The titles promised more than the story delivered. Didn't fulfill the expectations I had. Like two to three characters, and it offered a few questions to considered for myself but all in all not a recommendation. Good premise, not such a good execution for my taste.

Six of Crows - Started it on December 27th, read two chapters. Like the story so far, will keep reading it.

Does Run ep 119 fall into the period of Jikook's romantic separation/distancing you talked about? By hairstyles I think this is the time you marked as being 'not a couple'? Did I get the timelines right? Please dont get mad, but they seemed especially cozy+close this ep, and not just skinship (I know this is a subjective judgement and dif points of view are allowed). Just curious if you still hold to your theory? We see only tiny snapshots of time. Do you ever retrospectively change your mind?

First of all, it's not so much that questions like these irk me...

It's just I've never had to worry about being 'right' or 'wrong' in forming an opinion about anything or on any topic in my life.

I think the night is more beautiful than the day. I think both Trump and Biden are trash- but better Biden than Trump. I think formal education is a damn waste of time and money. I think a lot of things. But I've never had to worry about that I could be right or wrong about them.

I never assume, when I read people's opinions too, that they are right or wrong. I either tend to agree with it or disagree with it or get informed by it if I had zero opinion prior. I find it bizarre when people want to be right and stuff- especially in a community that is nothing but a swirling vortex of thoughts and opinions. Lmho.

You either defend your stand and give evidence to support it but even then we are just all making assumptions.

Also questions like these tend to put me in a position where I feel like if I should respond then I am not only 'defending' my opinions but challenging other's opinions with my opinions and treating my opinions as if they were the facts. But they are not. It's just one opinion against another.

Know what I mean?

I used to be comfortable doing that because I thought it was all friendly debates and discourse until someone drew my attention to it and pointed out to me that when I do that I come across as 'all knowy,' 'presenting my opinions as facts' and 'challenging other's opinions with my opinion'- which y'all are well aware is the case that has launched a thousand hate comments, privacy invasion, doxing, lies and operation boycott Goldy on ship street.

I don't think it's worth it.

Then there is the substantive issue: how these questions are framed. How should I put this...

I never said anywhere that Jikook were broken up during the On era because they were not acting 'cozy'. Who's theory is that? Who said that? I've never peddled the 'Jikook is real because of skinship or their interactions' theory. If anything, I try to distinguish between Jikook's couple moments and their skinship or mere interactions because neither of those two make Jikook real... to me.

If Jikook showing skinship and merely interacting with eachother to you is a determining factor as to whether they are real- it's not, to me. I've made this much clear over the course of my blogs. If it's your metric then it differs from mine and I can't 'challenge' it. Lol.

I have said, Jikook can interact zero in a content and I still could be able to tell if they are a couple.

Similarly, two people can grind on eachother and stick their tongues down eachother's throats and I still will be able to tell they are not a couple within the same group if they are not.

Am I wrong sometimes? Absolutely. Hell, I said JK was going to post for Jimin's birthday. He didn't. I got that wrong.

I do retrospectively change my mind on a lot of things. If say, in the future, Jimin announced he has a kid and is married to a het woman I would backpedal on my theory that Jikook is real. I don't think it's that deep.

If at any one point, I have reason to believe Jikook aren't together any more as a couple within BTS, or that one of them is straight, I would change my opinion about them being in a gay relationship with eachother.

Similarly, if I have reason to believe Jikook have broken up or distanced themselves from eachother at one point, I would say so and not run around the internet yelling Jikook gay, Jikook married.

There are moments, when I thought Jikook were together but they weren't and so I had to change my mind in retrospect too.

It seems to me, that to y'all, as long as I'm saying Jikook are together then I'm right and it's Amen preach but if I say I think they are or were not together at a point in their relationship then suddenly it's, she is a Trump supporter spreading lies about Jikook and dancing in the rain with convicted serial killers while trying to pass off her published work as Jikook fanfiction. It's all very interesting how some people's minds work...

For the record, I said Jikook were broken up within that period because they were not claiming eachother, reassuring eachother, exercising rights of claim and authority, speaking eachothers love language and all the other metrics I have time and again pointed out several times across my posts that they are the qualities that to me make Jikook a couple.

So do you see why I feel some kind of way when people come at me with the, 'they stared at eachother' 'they smiled at eachther' they touched eachother' argument? Y'all must have me confused a certain shipper on the block. Lol.

You tell me they look cozy and intimate, but then I go and check and they are still not claiming eachother or exhibiting any of the qualities that makes them a couple. Lol.

If I say Jikook is in a relationship, it's usually because I have reasons to believe they are in a relationship. If I say Jikook are not together, it's also because I have reasons to believe they are not together. It's really not hard maths.

I forego a lot of sleep to ensure I share my thought process on a lot of my theories and opinions. I have shared across several posts why I believe Jikook is real. I have shared a few of the metrics I use to decide on that opinion and I have shared my thought process on why I believe in certain moments they aren't together.

It's exhausting when I have to repeat that process each time because then it's not about you asking for my opinion on the topic anymore because I've already stated that, it's about you asking me to change my opinion on a topic based on your assessment and your metric and it just doesn't work that way.

Your assertion that Run 119 was filmed in the same era as On is valid I guess... but I have to disagree. I can't tell you exactly when that episode was filmed but if I had to share my two cents on it, I'd have to place it towards the middle of April this year or somewhere around that period. In my opinion.

I say that because Jimin debuted his jet black hair around 14th April when he appeared in a Vlive with RM. Again I do not know exactly when he got his hair changed but as of March 26th, he had blondish hair.

In his March 30th Vlive- the one where JK interrupted Jin's call, he had a cap on so chilee I'm not gonna argue on whether he had dyed his hair at that point or not.

Then there is Suga, who has blonde hair in this Run 119 episode. He had blonde hair from his birthday in early March and tweeted a bunch of photos of himself in blonde hair from March through to April 28th.

Yet in the JinMinGi Vlive on April 27th when Jimin still had jet black hair, Suga seemed to have a jet black hair too. Which means he could have had blonde hair around the time Jimin went black in early April and dyed it black in late April- but that's theory and that's just my assumption. We can know for sure if and when knew content is released which was filmed around that period.

Thus, I doubt if it was filmed during On era like episode 116 and 117- where you could see clearly, Jikook were having issues.

Just because a peice of content is released in succession don't mean they were filmed around the same period...

So yes I agree with you, we only see snapshots of their time and most importantly we see them in DISORDER. BigHit doesn't release content in chronological order as per when they film them- something I keep reiterating throughout my blogs.

And just as a tip for when you want to reconstruct the timeline for accuracy based on their hairstyles, I think you should look to their Live contents and not their prerecorded content. Their VLives and Youtube lives- actual lives not the prerecorded ones passed off as live streams lol, or even their live reactions to when they win awards or do interviews etc.

I think those are a somewhat accurate reflection of the timeline and helps fit contents in their right time period. But even that- it's still 60/40. But that's me. Feel free to use your own metric to access the timeline.

And the part about them seeming cozy within- On Era, I assume? Because that's when I speculated they had a break up?

I wasn't going to address it because it requires me to provide a comprehensive reconstruction of the timeline but I can't do that until a few more years from now when BigHit has released all or most of the content they have on that period.

I'm just gonna have to repeat myself, for the n>th time though and be intentionally vague about it lol - I had decided not to talk about that period again but I have to just because you make it sound like I would go full on frying pan wielding JK on your ass, step for step, for pointing out that Jikook seemed cozy and intimate within that speculated breakup period. Chilee, I'm not a villain. Lol.

I will not whoop your ass for saying that- but you'd have to answer a seven page query if you are an avid reader of my blogs, so clear your schedule. It's gonna be a long day. Lol.

Query: How do you expect Jikook to look like and behave if and when they are not together together?

I keep saying, at the bare minimum, Jikook are friends not enemies. You don't expect them to act like they never knew eachother during such times. But it takes a while for them to settle into that space when they both feel comfortable with being friends and during such period is when you notice them putting up emotional boundaries and distance between them.

Maybe its just because I saw Jikook as friends and got used to them as friends before lovers and so spotting when they are acting as friends comes easy to me? I don't know.

I think it's similar to how people who are used to seeing Jikook as friends can't seem to see past their friendship to seeing them as a couple.

Then there are those who've only known Jikook to be a couple or saw them as a couple first upon entering the fandom and so can't seem to see them as friends or even think of them as friends. It can be a trip for such people. Which one are you?

If you see Jikook as lovers all the time, really I don't. And I don't need the tensions and the silences to sense something is off. JK unable to check RM or anyone within the group when they are crossing boundaries with Jimin is enough tell.

Same way I don't need to the skinship and 'cosy' to tell if they are together. Jk putting up emotional distance with certain members within the group- all but Jimin, is enough evidence for me.

We don't have to all see Jikook through the same lens to enjoy them. And we don't have to agree on everything too.

We are different people, with different backgrounds and experiences. We can't think the same or perceive on things the same.

I keep saying, to me, there is a quality to Jikook that makes them more than friends. If I see those qualities in them, I believe they are a couple. If not, they are not. Those are the qualities I see only between Jikook and what set them apart from the other ships in BTS.

I see their friendship and I also see their other stuff.

And I notice, during certain periods that they lose that quality that makes them couples- for them to be a couple they need to be speaking eachothers love language, exercising certain rights and privileges over each other, claiming eachother, reassuring eachother yadda yadda yadda and a whole others that don't include them merely talking to eachother or engaging in skinship.

When I talk about Jikook On Era break up period, I'm talking about the period from the 21st to 28th February this year- or the period right before it.

Thats the period I noticed a drastic change in Jikook's interactions and even their personalities. It gave me the feeling that jikook had been through something heavy prior to that date. That period seemed more like the aftermath of a break up rather than the beginning of it as there seemed to be a drastic flip in their dynamics compared to any era before that. Especially late December or around the period when they filmed Carpool Karaoke.

They weren't doing any of the things I've mentioned above that to me make them a couple- they were just interacting and pretty much being civil- except for JK. He seemed more angry, less tolerant and very assertive against Jimin and the group.

He was being super self assertive and was asserting himself even against Jimin- something he has been doing a lot this year which I keep talking about.

Jimin didn't seem different to me at all to me in that period until April.

Why do I feel you are forcing me to talk about something I don't want to talk about? Lol.

I mark that period as significant not only because of the changes that took place in Jikook's dynamics but because it marks the genesis of the JK we are experiencing today.

Their interactions within that period were reflective of a consistent pattern of behavior they've exhibited around periods when they are not together- JK putting up boundaries, not claiming JM, JM trying to reconnect etc.

For instance, at Music Bank on the 28th of February, Jimin did that thing with Jin when he noticed JK interacting with Tae but JK didn't mind him or claim.

Contrast that with their moment on the 1st March, at Inkigayo, where JK literally teleported his ass to stand behind JM when he noticed JM had started his shenanigans on the stage.

Jikook started claiming eachother and acting as a couple again from then- they started reassuring eachother and doing all these things that to me mark them as a couple. Again, this is only an assumption, I don't have the comprehensive breakdown of the period- yet because there are new contents being released on a daily.

On 6th March, during Music Bank when Hobi hugged Jimin during their interview JK reacted strongly to that too in my opinion.

On 30th March, JK interrupted Jin's call to flirt and ask JM on a date- you could see them acting as a couple from that moment at Inkigayo on 1st March throughout to 30th March and their interactions were consistent.

Their interactions in the period before that was pretty much inconsistent and filled with a lot of Jump cuts- which I'm hoping future contents will help fill the gaps for me so I can build a comprehensive breakdown of that era- at least for my self. Iol.

It's just the way Jikook usually behave after these period. They go through a reconnection phase, where they constantly try reassure eachother and then eventually end up in a honey moon phase of a sort where you'd see them flirting up and down the hills, acting super touchy, hitting the red marks- making us and the others feel weird and super uncomfortable watching them.

It's also important to note that around the period of them reconnecting, JK had started distancing himself from Tae. He puts up emotional boundaries with the others and closes himself off to them when he opens himself up to Jimin.

I mean if I'm 'wrong,' and I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying if I'm wrong because of your two seconds clip of them acting 'cozy,' then I gotta ask what happened to JK in this period? Why was he putting up boundaries between him and Jimin in that period, and what set him on this self assertive path he's been on throughout this year- think about that while I hold on to my he went through a nasty breakup and had an emotional trauma that pushed him on a path to reevaluate and set his priorities straight theory. Lol

I think some of the content they have released so far within that period were filmed either closer to or far from when that break up happened- Run 116 and 117 would be the closest to that period so far- I just don't know if it was before 21st February or after it.

Run 100 and 101 would also have been filmed relatively closer to that period or immediately after it because Jimin was behaving in those Runs the same way he was behaving during the On Comeback Special VLive which was released on 21st of February- I feel the breakup would happened before this date.

In both those Runs and the On comeback special, Jimin seemed beat, humbled and subdued. He was trying to establish eye contact with JK during the comeback VLive, egging him on to talk about his looks, and putting boundaries between him and the other members. He seemed to be on his best behavior.

For instance, in the Comback he seemed like he was walking on eggshells around Kookie and didn't want to create the impression he was going out of his way to flirt with the others or portray himself as available and so when Suga touched his waist or back, he asked him to stop.

Similary, in Runs 100/101 behind scenes or something, when they were eating and he noticed Tae had food residue on his lips, he tried to help him clean it but panicked and stopped the moment he sensedJK lifting his head up- it seemed he didn't want to piss JK off in those two instances. JK for the most part just seemed serious and less tolerant of JM's bs within that period.

Juxtapose JM's behavior in these two instances with the events at Music Bank and Inkigayo where he was hugging Jin and acting extra around Kook- which to me seemed like he was looking for reassurance by trying to get JK to claim him but of course JK didn't do that.

Jimin likes being reassured by JK when he is feeling 'insecure.' And often, JK reassures him when he notices JM going through that. Jimin does the same for JK.

They are intune with eachother's emotional needs and they consciously go out of their way to meet them.

Take the recent MAMA speech moment when JM was giving a speech and he seemed like he need support- emotional support and back up. Jk turn fully and instantly towards him to let him know he was there for him. We've seen Jikook do this a countless times. I value these moments over them showing skinship or screaming eachother's names.

In the recent BE press conference red carpet moment when JM tried it with RM- did you notice JK's reaction? They both seemed like they were trying to piss eachother other off or make each eachother jealous during that red carpet moment.

JM with RM and JK with Jin. JK grabbed Jin's neck when he noticed JM intentionally acting all up close and friendly with his buddy buddy RM and the frown on his face. He didn't seem too amused with JM doing that...

- it's weird, I know, but it's also their way of reassuring eachother and expressing interest in eachother. Don't judge. It's Jikook- just look away, keep it pushing. Nothing to see here. Lol.

Had it not been for the live events around that On period, I probably wouldn't have noticed these things because the content from BigHit around the period were only showing glimpses of their interactions which again seemed like the aftermath of their breakup and not the start of it.

I think their ability to get to that space where they are each comfortable with relating freely and 'cozy' around eachother as friends depends on how soon they interact on cameras after they've gone through such periods.

If they film immediately soon after, or during, often the tension between them is much more evident like in run 116 and 117.

If they film much later from it, then you wouldn't even notice a damn thing at all. In my opinion. Especially, if you don't know the difference between Jikook as friends and Jikook as lovers.

You can never tell though if you focus solely on Jimin's behavior during such periods- because Jimin is just that guy. He doesn't bring the drama to work. He will smile sunshine through the pain and act like nothing happened. For JK it's different, in my opinion.

Jimin has a very high emotional intelligence quotient and seems to process emotions better and faster. JK is not like that. It is why I feel, he tends to put up physical and emotional barriers with Jimin and with the others sometimes when he is going through it.

They all process emotions at different paces. In my opinion.

I'm starting to wonder if y'all think Jikook is one sided at this point. Lol. Jikook is not one sided. Jimin is not the only one in their relationship. You can't focus on him alone to decide if your ship is sailing or in a good place- because guess what? Jimin can put up a show of it.

It's just as how Tuktukkers tend to focus on Tae rather than JK in determining whether they still have a ship or not. If they paid attention to JK for one minute, they would know their ship got lost at sea at debut.

I keep saying JM's 'the boy in love with Jungkook' persona is a facade. He loves JK through this facade but you have to look past it. I mean this is the guy who told Jin JK doesn't act a certain way around him, but backpedaled and said he was just 'saying it for content' when Jin called him out on it. Same guy Jk says, he intentionally acts cutes when he notices the cameras on him.

You gotta wonder what else he does just for content and for the cameras. Isn't this why people claim Jikook is fanservice?

You have to pay attention to JK too you know? They have different personalities, different ways of handling issues, different ways of loving and different ways of solving problems.

Jimin over expresses himself and tries to establish contact when he is at the recieving end of a freeze out. He did the same thing on stage with JK during Manila when he tried to have a conversation with Kook- to squash whatever issues they had been having but JK needed his space physically and emotionally.

Jimin was sat next to Suga chatting with him, asking him questions, laughing with him but the moment Suga touched him he snapped. He did the same thing in Dynamite MV reaction VLive when JK teased him with Suga. He snapped almost instantly and didn't seem happy with it- he doesn't want to be shipped with Suga and yet he is the one constantly going 'I miss Suga hyung' 'Suga and I are the parents and JK is the son"

In run 116, you could see him trying to interact with Kook even when Kook was clearly putting up boundaries with him. Had Kook not been closed off to him in that moment, we probably would never have noticed anything was off with them honestly.

And that hug JM gave Kook in the end, did you see him looking sideways as if he was doing something wrong? Compare that moment with the Siriux FM interview where he had his hands around Kook. He didn't seem- what's the word, scared.

And by the way, that moment was also filmed on the 21st of February in the US, the same day of their Rockefeller interview and the same day the On Comeback Special VLive was released- so do the maths? Was that the start of a break up or the aftermath of it?

Jimin was leaning forward in that period true, but was JK receiving and reciprocating his actions and matching them throughout that period? No. Or may be its debatable- you tell me. Lol.

Jikook behave in a certain way and give off a certain vibe when they are good and sailing- but not all such moments is because they are a couple. In my opinion.

When they get to that good space where they can be comfortable around each other, they sail as friends too.

It's just like, when they are not good and they give off bad vibes. But not all the bad vibes they give off is because they are not good. Know what I mean?

It's all up to how you perceive them and how much you understand of their dynamics I guess.

It is my understanding that, JK opens up to certain other members within the group while simultaneously putting up boundaries with Jimin when he is having serious problems with Jimin. From my observation of their interactions.

So I ask, within the period of 21st February to 28th, was he leaning towards this certain member he was suddenly BFFs with around the time of their break up or was he leaning away from him? He literally teleported away from him to be next to Jimin when they were getting back together and Tae didn't seem amused by that either.

It's Jikook, I get it. I think you need to pay attention to the way they interact with the other members within the group too? Because that's equally telling. Sigh.

It is my understanding that, Jimin is quick to anger yet quick to forgive and he sometimes glosses over things, puts a lot of energy and efforts into embellishing his relationship with Kook and presenting them as the perfect duo and the perfect relationship- which is something that I think psychologically induces the Kumbaya in a lot of Jikook shippers and influences them into thinking their relationship is perfect and kumbaya. But that's another topic for another day.

JK makes Jikook more real. To me.

I hear often, people talk about how Jimin is less touchy than JK and has personal boundaries within the group and how over the years, he has toned down on his touchiness with the other members because JK puts up a lot of boundaries for him around the members with the frying pans and what not, and would fume whenever Jimin or anyone crosses those boundaries...

But have y'all ever wondered the kind of boundaries Jimin put up for JK within the group and expects JK to uphold within the group when they are together? Hint: It's not JK's touchiness or lack of boundaries. Y'all be connecting the wrong dots. Lol.

Jk puts up physical boundaries for Jimin because that is important to him. Jimin put up emotional boundaries for JK because that is important to him. They overlap sometimes but those times are insignificant to me.

Jk's certain bonds suffer because of Jimin. And he stops respecting those boundaries when he and Jimin are no longer together and the moment they are back together, he puts those boundaries up again with those bonds- this is Morse code, if you catch on message me with it. Wink.

JM throwing his arms around Kook during a serious interview is not him claiming JK or reassuring him. JK yelling Jimin to the power Z is not him exercising right of authority over Jimin- lovers do that. Know who else does that? FRIENDS. Lol.

It's nothing Hobi doesn't do with JM or the other ships don't do.

Listen, I saw all the good bits and things that you saw in that period too and still I formed my opinion on that era the way that I did and have. And the new content from that era, Run 116 and 117 all follow the same pattern of behavior I noticed around that period and have talked about. So no, my view on that era hasn't changed.

Unless, your objective is to have me change my mind based on the 'wrong' timeline dots you've connected, then we would just have to agree to disagree. Lol.

If you believe Jikook were together during that period, I agree to disagree on it. Feel free to disagree with my opinion too.

Always ship Jikook in the way that makes sense to you. And support them while you are at it. Jikook is real. Bless you.

Plain answer, no. But, when I was looking for more details on the Internet (and because I was curious, I never really investigated her death in depth) I came across two interesting sites.

Now, here I warn you that I got excited and gave you a very long answer to your question.

This first one is from the Westminster Abbey website:

"Her death, at Richmond Palace, on 24th March 1603 was an occasion of universal mourning. For some days the body lay at Richmond and then was brought by barge to Whitehall Palace to lie in state. Thousands of people turned out to see her funeral procession to the Abbey on 28th April 1603 when there was "such a general sighing, groaning and weeping as the like hath not been seen or known in the memory of man". The coffin, covered in purple velvet, was borne on a chariot drawn by four grey horses with black trappers. The coloured wooden funeral effigy lay on top of the coffin.

Her body was encased in lead within the wooden coffin and first buried in the vault of her grandfather King Henry VII (underneath his monument) in the Abbey. (...)

The original funeral effigy, by John Colt, that had been carried on her hearse was remade in 1760 with a wax head and new outer clothes. The original, and unique, corset from 1603 effigy still survives however and after recent conservation was displayed separately from the clothed effigy.

King James I erected the large white marble monument to her in the north aisle of Henry VII's chapel (less tall than the monument James later erected for his mother, Mary, Queen of Scots in the opposite aisle of the chapel). This was made by sculptor Maximilian Colt and painted by Jan de Critz. The recumbert effigy resembles portraits of the Queen in old age. The cost was £1485.

In 1606 the Queen's coffin was transferred to a vault below the new monument and places on top of the coffin of her half sister Mary I.

The gilded collar, with a representation of the "Burgundy" or "Three Brothers" pendant, was added in 1975 and made by Mrs H. Hughes. The crown (designed by Janet Arnold), the cross on the orb and the sceptre the Queen holds are also modern replacements, the originals having been stolen centuries ago. These were the gift of Mr Brian Court Mappin. The railing around the tomb (designed by J. Peter Foster in 1983) is another modern replacement for a lost original. Although the effigy is now just white marble a drawing found in Germany, dated 1618-20, shows the Queen wearing an ermine lined crimson robe with a blue orb in her hand, a coloured dress and flesh colouring on her face. The four lions at each corner of the effigy were gilded. No trace of this colour now remains."

This second one is from the blog The Tudor Travel Guide and here is where it becomes really interesting:

"Elizabeth made it clear that she did not wish to be disembowelled following death (as would be customary). Yet shortly after the queen died, Rober Cecil left orders with the surgeons to do so, while he went to London to proclaim James VI the new King of England. And so the queen was embalmed and her body transferred to a lead-lined, wooden coffin.

During the period in question, Southwell reports how there was a loud ‘crack’ from the coffin as Elizabeth’s ‘body and head’ broke open from the pressures of gases released as the corpse rotted. While the force of the explosion splintered the ‘wood lead and cere cloth’, people speculated on how much worst might it have been if the body had not been opened and disembowelled after death! It is interesting isn’t it, that the story of this event occurring after the end of Henry VIII is much repeated, and seen as a sign of his obesity and gluttony. But here we have the same thing happening with his daughter, who was not subject to such vices!

I came across a book written by Arthur Stanley, published in the 1880s. He had been given permission to survey all the tombs in the abbey by the then queen, Victoria. It makes for fascinating reading since the crypt in which all royal burials are deposited is closed and I have never read anything specific regarding the Tudor tombs that lie beneath the abbey floor. However, Stanley gives us a glimpse inside these hidden vaults.

In trying to find the actual coffin of James I, Stanley explored a narrow aisle located underground between the eastern end of Elizabeth’s monument and those of James’ own infant daughters. He had already looked in this area before; it was empty and seemed of little interest. However, upon closer inspection, Stanley found a tiny aperture in one of the walls. Upon peering inside, he saw a narrow vault containing two coffins, one placed upon the other. Because I have never read this account before, I am going to include it in some detail.

Our intrepid adventurer describes the scene: there was ‘no disorder or decay’ except the ‘centring wood’ at the head of the uppermost coffin had fallen in, and some of the sides were crumbling, which had ‘drawn away part of the decaying lid’. Although no coffin plate was present, a dim light illuminated the lid enough for Stanley to see a carved Tudor rose, ‘simply but deeply incised in outline’. On either side of the rose were the carved initials ‘E.R’ and beneath the year ‘1603’. Stanley goes on to describe the lid being decorated with ‘narrow, moulded panelling’ made of ‘fine oak an inch think’, while the base was made of ‘inch elm’. The whole thing was covered in red silk velvet, ‘much of which remained attached to the wood’."

It’s hard to believe 58 years to the day, on the night of August 4th, the world’s most famous Star would leave us all. Yes, I know a lot of you will be thinking, “wait, didn’t she die on the 5th?” – she was found in the early hours of that morning, and her death was announced then – so that is the “technical” date. However, as with many Marilyn “facts” that too is incorrect and so like every year, I will be posting this on the 4th.

I’m not going to write about all the ridiculous dramas and he said she said statements that have grown rapidly over the years, as they don’t deserve any more coverage. Whenever a major celebrity dies, the more shocking the statement, the more attention it gains, so much so that it’s almost became ingrained into society as being accepted as fact. But, I am going to have a big name and shame moment for the two main culprits – Robert Slatzer and Norman Mailer I’m looking at you both. Also Anthony Summers – you’re a piece of crap and I will never forgive you for publishing Marilyn’s autopsy photo in your toilet paper worthy biography.

Long story short as they don’t deserve any mention with Marilyn’s name – Slatzer created the whole Kennedy, Mafia and basically everything shit and defamatory written about Marilyn in the early 1970s. If you want to find out the actual truth with documented facts click HERE.

Sorry to disappoint any conspiracy lovers – Marilyn didn’t love JFK, nor did any of the Kennedy’s kill her, she died of an either accidental or intentional prescription drug overdose. Was I there? No, I wasn’t even alive, but it’s really not hard to disregard the nonsense and absurd claims, when you actually take the time to do a little (a lot in my case) of research.

Thankfully, I was lucky and never fell down that ridiculous rabbit hole in the first place. I discovered Marilyn whilst reading an article in Vanity Fair magazine almost ten years ago, discussing the then upcoming release of, Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters by Marilyn Monroe.

This book is truly one of a kind and is basically a published archive of many of Marilyn’s personal letters, excerpts and anecdotes she had written from 1943 until 1962. Before anyone says it’s disrespectful to publish/share these and it is an invasion of privacy, to an extent I agree. However, as stated a few moment ago, with the amount of disrespectful, outrageous nonsense that has been slurred out over the half a century since Marilyn left us – I think it’s a necessity to see her own words in print. Ironically enough, it’s almost as if Marilyn herself foreshadowed the future of the media, when she said this in an Interview to Georges Belmont for Marie Claire Magazine in April 1960.

“The true things rarely get into circulation, it’s usually the false things.”

Therefore, today I have decided to focus on Marilyn herself, not as a Star, Tragic Icon or a pretty face, but as a human who had a beautiful, sensitive soul. Some of you may already know, but for those who don’t, Marilyn actually wrote numerous poems throughout her years, mostly just for herself. In her rare moments of confidence, she would occasionally show a few to her close friend, Writer Norman Rosten, who said the following in his (must have) book, Marilyn Among Friends.

“She had the instinct and reflexes of the poet, but she lacked the control.”

“Although she gave the appearance of being so confident and self assured, she was in reality incredibly self conscious and her own biggest critic, which is heartbreaking really as she was truly gifted. She was such a perfectionist that she would spend hours preparing herself mentally and physically for her beloved fans, regularly looking in the mirror at her perceived flaws. Marilyn was infamous for her lateness, which is often viewed as diva like behaviour. However, the reality is, it’s rarely noted that her anxiety was so severe, she would break out in rashes and even vomit, before going on set.

In her final interview with LIFE Magazine, published one day before her death, she even said to Journalist Richard Meryman,

“I’m one of the world’s most self conscious people. I really have to struggle.”

I remember the first time I looked through Fragments, of course it was very upsetting to see her pain written down and think about her suffering, However, I strongly noticed this recurring theme of hope, despite some incredibly sad notes, there was always some sparkle of inner strength and I just thought that should be said. Often we ourselves don’t see are bravery and bouts of determination in our inner self, but others do and I for one am glad I can see in Marilyn what she could not.

I love you with all of my heart Marilyn, from the moment you came into my life, a decade ago in October 2010. Wherever you may be, I hope you know how much love, joy and happiness you have brought and continue to bring to many people’s lives each day. ______________________________________________________________________________

I see myself in the mirror now, brow furrowed – if I lean close I’ll see – what I don’t want to know – tension, sadness, disappointment, my eyes dulled, cheeks flushed with capillaries that look like rivers on maps – hair lying like snakes. The mouth makes me the saddest next to my dead eyes. There is a dark line between the lips in the outline of several waves in a turbulent storm – it says don’t kiss me, don’t fool me I’m a dancer who cannot dance. ______________________________________________________________________________

Everyone’s childhood plays itself out No wonder no one knows the other or can completely understand. By this I don’t know if I’, just giving up with this conclusion or resigning myself – or maybe for the first time connecting with reality –

how do we know the pain of another��s earlier years let alone all that he drags with him since along the way at best a lot of lee-way is needed for the other – yet how much is unhealthy for one to bear.

I think to love bravely is the best and accept – as much as one can bear. ______________________________________________________________________________

Skip Beat Timeline

As some of the rest of you are ALSO preparing for KyokoxRen Week 2020, here’s a rundown on the recent timeline of Skip Beat and KyokoxRen development.

Point the First!

The month of April has lasted in real-time FOR OVER SIX YEARS and it’s still not May yet. It’s lasted, so far, for 81 chapters. Did you get Skip Beat Exhaustion in the past six years?? Gee...I just dunno why.... (Honestly Sensei....how...how do you even do that? It’s amazing)

Dates and Chapter Numbers bolded for convenience

April 4th -Kuon kisses Kyoko in Guam (ch211) and tells her he loves her

April 11

Kyoko sees her mother and they discuss Kyoko's father after Kyoko saw both Shotaro and Ren the night before after her mother’s TV interview. (the kissing picture taken at 1:56 on 4.11 as referenced later)

After seeing her mother, Kyoko and Kanae meet up for the Lotus in the Mire talk, so Kyoko can get the lowdown on the character audition and whathaveyou. Kyoko sees Ren and Yashiro again that same evening, before Ren returns to Guam

the day after she sees her mother (the day is 4.12 as is seen on Kanae's phone in ch238), Kyoko sees Shotaro and tells him to back off, and that she's talked with both her mom, and his parents and she's gonna do what she wants yooo! TO REITERATE: Shotaro plants one on Kyoko, two days later, she does all that, lmaaao. You cray cray gurl.

Kyoko begins Momiji prep the next day

ch. 240 states that it's a month after White Day. So there's at leeeeaast a three day span of time between this chapter and ch238 but I believe it may be a little more, bc Kyoko's stage combat practice began, and she also met with Erika Koenji, and also did research on Morizumi and each of those occurrences happened on different days. In this chapter she also receives her White Day gift from Yashiro and Yashiro begins his stint as her temporary manager and says he'll do so for two weeks, until Ren returns from Guam

(RELEVANT LATER TO PUT THIS HERE: CH. 266.5 is when Kyoko receives the envelope postmarked 3.13, and it's referred to in this special chapter as having been received a month later by Kyoko (Mid April at the earliest, though it's far more probable that it was at the end of April, due to the following clues)

Eight days after that, (eight days into Yashiro's temp managing) in ch 241, Kyoko comes across Momose Itsumi and it's indicated then that Kyoko has yet to receive the WD gift from Ren. This would then be, at the very least, April 23rd

(Momiji Audition begins ch. 242, Kyoko is officially given the role of Momiji in ch256)

As of ch245, We see Yashiro's phone and a text from Ren saying he's back 2 days early from Guam. So, if we take the factual date from ch238, of it being 4.12 when he left, and being gone for two weeks, and coming back 2 days early, it'd be 4.24, which is consistent with ch241, BUT Ren's phone in ch246 says 4.26, which is inconsistent with his leaving time, BUT we then do know the date of the Momiji audition and the 'when' of the events that take place that day.

4.26 is a day that includes the following:

Momiji Audition

Ren's return to Japan

Ren's discussion with Lory about the picture taken on 4.11 by that paparazzi

Kyoko being confronted by Koga about her feelings for Ren

Morizumi hears this convo, and weaves the first of her lies to unsettle Kyoko

Kyoko, on this day, at this point, IS STILL UNAWARE OF REN'S WD GIFT

In between audition segments, in an effort to avoid explaining the truth about her feelings for Ren, Kyoko lies to Kanae about the Morizumi-Ren connection and why it would be upsetting her

Morizumi withdraws from the audition, and Erika gets suspicious and sticks around, and sets a trap for Morizumi, which goes off when Morizumi and her manager try to throw Kyoko over a rail of the building while they've got her drugged

Ren and Kijima reunite and go get a drink and are joined by Kana at some point while at the bar

Kanae is offered another position by Producer Kuresaki that, from all context clues gathered so far, is an American production also involving Cedric D Bennet and Mr. Duris

Kana kisses Ren

Kanae and Kyoko talk about their offers, and Yashiro notifies Ren about Kyoko getting Momiji

AS OF CH 261 APRIL 26TH HAS ENDED

Yashiro is still taking Kyoko around as temp manager, and Ren and her share a ride on 4.27 while Yashiro drives. Also in this chapter is the clue that the Darumaya Master is now remembering the letter he put in his safe a month and a half ago.

4.27 includes:

the Ren, Kyoko, Yashiro lunch

Ren giving Kyoko the dandelion ring and her calling him despicable

Ren attempts to hold back his questions about the ShoxKyoko kiss paparazzi photo, (and that lasts until he sees them next morning at the Darumaya and they fight during the morning car ride)

Kyoko meets Koga and others on the Lotus set

Kuresaki learns that Kyoko's combat instructor of the famous Uesugis and it's a guy he fanbois over

Kanae and Uesugi talk about her role some more

Kyoko saves her dandelion ring

another clue about the Darumaya Master keeping something in his safe

4.28:

the dawn of a new day comes in ch266, April 28th, when Ren and Yashiro catch sight of Shotaro and Kyoko outside the Darumaya

In ch267, we get the reference to April 11, 1:56 am, the night of the second Sho and Kyoko kiss, which was the same night Kyoko saw that interview with her mom and also met Ren his one brief night back from Guam

Ren and Kyoko fight about that

Koga and Kyoko meet again after that

Later that night, Kyoko decides to not return Ren's text or call

In chapter 270, it's another new day, Kyoko's phone shows the date of 4.29, and this is the day after Kyoko and Ren fight in the car about that second kiss because he also saw Sho meeting Kyoko that same morning at the Darumaya

4.29 ALSO includes:

the magazine release of the RenxKana kiss, the reaction people had to its broadcast at the Lotus Set, Kyoko and Ren meeting at LME where Lory, Yashiro, and Kanae also witness Kyoko fleeing from him.

the convo between Kyoko and Kanae about Cedric D Bennet and Mr. Duris, and Kanae auditioning for an American role in a production that involves both those individuals (Mr. Duris is 'Uncle Tiger from the Grateful Party, and Kuon's grandfather in American show business, and we learn this from Lory's convo on the phone with him that same day. He is also the 'Father of Champions' that Chiori mentioned ages ago)

It also includes the Kyoko and Kanae talking about the Morizumi-love interest-Kana confusion in regards to Ren, and about Kanae learning English with help from Kyoko

Next Day: April 30, Bo and Ren meet (ch274) and talk about the Kana thing and the truth of his actual feelings. Kyoko and Ren meet almost immediately after that convo (ch277) in the building lobby. Kyoko flees again. Ren gives chase to the elevator

They exit elevator and continue convo in a dressing room

Another mention of Cedric D Bennet and an American production

Ren actually openly voices his jealousy during this convo: PROGRESS. So does Kyoko!! DOUBLE PROGRESS

Ren and Kyoko are actually as honest as they can be about how they feel for each other: AMAZING

GIFTGIVING TAKE TWO: his own pendant this time instead of a dandelion ring like three days prior

CONCLUSIONS TO BE DRAWN:

1. Ren/Kuon will almost ALWAYS act upon his love for Kyoko as a consequence of something Shotaro does that (may or may not) show affection for Kyoko.

Shotaro may be a plot device for the otherwise-and-previously-not-well-motivated female lead Kyoko (the inciting incident of the story in fact, tho she moves past it). BUT HE IS ALSO THIS FOR OUR SLOW-TO-ACT-ON-LOVE MALE LEAD REN LMMAAAAOO.

Previous Examples:

‘Suddenly a Love Story’ Arc, ch.79-99 In which Ren behaves differently after seeing the Fuwa PV and getting caught up with the Beagle/Fuwa mess because they drag Kyoko into it. We see the first hints of ‘Kuon’ in this arc, hot on the heels of the implications of the ‘HoneyTrap’ practice arc.

The action Shotaro takes in ch145 for a Valentine's Day present, causes a five-chapter long mini-arc as Ren dares to be bolder with Kyoko in response, but winds up walking it back because he wanted to be considerate of where her state of mind was at the time.

-Shotaro's behavior after the Dark Moon Wrap Party towards Kyoko, and his attitude towards Ren in that parking lot after Ren sees him and Kyoko together(ch190), directly causes the consequences shown between chapters 191-211, starting from when Ren breaks character in the Heels hotel room, all the way up until ch211 when Kuon finally says i do what i want, and lays one on Kyoko in Guam after he tells her he loves her.

2. BO, the CHICKEN CHARACTER THAT IS ALSO KYOKO can also SERIOUSLY motivate Ren. Ren was only truthful with himself about how deeply he felt about Kyoko during the Katsuki arc because BO pressed him to be. THIS ALSO HAPPENS HERE!! IT'S BO THAT TOLD HIM TO JUST SPEAK PLAINLY AND CLEAR UP ANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS. Kyoko didn't know it at the time, BUT SHE VIBE-CHECKED HERSELF WHEN SHE TOLD REN TO FACE IT HEAD-ON I CAN'T WITH THIS GUUURL

3. Also of interest, and relating to the above mentioned points, KIJIMA is also an instigator that applies to the most recent arc with him needling Ren about a teenager getting to Kyoko, and was there at the bar for DRAMATIC IRONY AT ITS FINEST, right before Kana laid one on Ren. He was also an instigator with the Dark Moon Wrap Party, and the Heels arc that led to the hotel room scene, because he’d been texting Kyoko the same day Ren saw Kyoko and Sho arrive together at TBM (chapters of the 180s to the 190s). Sho, Reino, Kijima, AND BO, can all motivate Ren in SUPER INTERESTING AND MULTI-FACETED WAYS!!!

4. Kyoko seriously fixated on Morizumi being the real love interest of Ren's. It took up sooooo many chapters you guys. It took up like... Thirty freaking chapters and two years of time in reality. To this DAY I can't believe that became such a fixation. Erika was so, so clear that Morizumi was a problem and would do anything to unsettle Kyoko during this audition. And yet, Kyoko never applied that to Morizumi's chatter except to get angry that Morizumi had tossed over Ren for the Cedric guy and had withdrawn from the audition without giving it her all. It could be an indicator of Kyoko’s one-track mind, but it really stretched the suspension of disbelief.

Kyoko focused on this SO MUCH, that even though ONLY 3 DAYS HAVE PASSED and like... THREE PLUS YEARS IN REAL-TIME, she had completely forgotten they'd argued about Shotaro until REN BROUGHT IT UP! But damn do I love the parallel that BOTH Kyoko and Ren actually believed that Morizumi and Shotaro were 'actual' threats to the love they felt for each other. It's downright ridiculous and they are entire whole dumbasses.

However... Kyoko's temperament about Ren and 'love' has been shaky since... The 190s chapters. This seemed like a deep dive of a spiral, leading to this 'Disaster Landfall' for sure. She'd been going around and around in circles about this 'highschooler', probably in an effort to make herself believe that it wasn't her, Kyoko, that was his target-though all evidence was showing otherwise. I mean, for heavenssake, she'd had thoughts back in the 90s chapters right before Karuizawa and right after the Katsuki Test, where her instinctual insight was telling her he was giving her preferential treatment, and she kept denying how that made her feel and ALSO DIDN'T EVEN VOICE IT OUT LOUD until ch. 201.

5. Sensei has a way of bringing drama in during the 70s/80s/90s counts of her chapters lol. I wonder what 280 to the 290s will bring.
