any ideas in the Trudy Lives AU for when Spider gets taken by the recoms? her reaction? what she tells the sully’s when they admit that he was with them when he got captured? what she’d do after in the following months, planning, etc, and finally her seeing him again? sorry if this is a bit much, I am just very invested in what you’ve created.
YES thank you for asking!
I have actually been thinking about this for the past two days. I'm still not entirely sure sure about how it would go down, BUT! Here are my thoughts so far!
So I think it would actually happen on a day Trudy is like preoccupied with something back at High Camp. She'd had a bit of a bad feeling in her gut that day, but had elected to ignore it. The raid had gone well after all, and things were generally in their favor.
But then the Sully's come back frantic, Kiri is crying, and her blond little son (though not so little anymore) is nowhere to be seen.
Jake wants to leave right then and there to protect the clan, but Trudy forces him to stay to get a proper explanation out of him. He's trying to quickly say what happened but Kiri interrupts him and says they took him, the RDA has him.
And Trudy loses it because clearly Jake was about to leave without Spider.
Now here's where I have a bit of a dilemma. I feel like through actually watching Trudy parent Spider and Neytiri and Trudy being kind of friends, I'm not sure Neytiri would have as much hatred for the boy as she does in canon. Then again it could have been triggered again because of the appearance of the recoms. What I'm saying is maybe Neytiri would oblige Trudy here and go back for him or maybe not. I'm still debating but for the sake of canon let's go with the fact that she doesn't.
Trudy goes on a whole angry rant about what an asshole move it was to just let him be kidnapped and they have no intention of going back for him. Jake's like he's a tough kid and human he'll be fine. And she's like BULLSHIT, do you know why he's a tough kid? Because everyone aside from me made him so! And how could you say that? You don't know what they're gonna do to him. They'll do anything to find out where you are. He's SIXTEEN, Jake! SIXTEEN!
Again, don't know if Jake's friendship with Trudy here would compel him to make a rescue attempt or not, which is why my idea for this event with my Trudy Lives AU isn't solid, solid, but let's continue as if it had gone in canon.
Once she sees he's not going to budge, she's gonna be like, "I respect the fact that you're leaving to get a target off your clan's back. But I will never fucking forgive you for leaving MY kid!"
I think Trudy's spiel would have given Kiri the courage to be like hell yeah how could you leave him that's my best friend! I think the others might be too cowed by her parents' decision to actually go for him right then and there.
Right before the Sully family is going to leave, I think Kiri would run to the lab where Trudy is and tell her she wants to stay to help her get Spider back. Trudy is super touched, but she'd not going to make the same mistake Jake did and let a kid get swept up in this war. So she's like, "I appreciate it, kid, but I can't let you." Kiri starts protesting and she's like, "I can't drag you into this. The whole reason I'm pissed with your old man is because he's fine with Spider getting dragged into this, a KID getting dragged into this shitshow. And I'm not gonna do the same with you. I'm gonna get him back. Ya hear me, Kiri? I'm gonna get him back to you, alright?"
Kiri thinks that if anyone can do it, it's gonna be Trudy so she reluctantly leaves with her family.
Trudy's trained military and a practical woman first and foremost so no matter how much her mama bear instincts are raging at her to just go in guns flying to get her kid back, she sits and tries to make a plan. She ropes the other scientists into it because she knows she won't be able to do it lonewolf-style.
I think first off she'd scout out Bridgehead with the help of some (maybe three) Omatikaya warrior friends she's made over the years (if anyone has suggestions for names or personalities for them I'm all ears). But Bridghead looks basically impenetrable and she'd have no shot of getting in. Besides the whole point of Jake leaving was to get them off of the Omaticaya's backs so she can't really mobilize them to attack the base. She doubted they would follow her anyway.
So she waits, clocking guard shifts and watching. Eventually, whenever Quarritch decides to pull Spider out of the torture machine and be his Na'vi guide, Trudy starts tailing the recom group from afar.
She'd heard about the recoms but had never actually laid eyes on them herself, and seeing Wainfleet's and Quarritch's sends shivers down her spine. And those guys have her son.
For plot reasons, I think she wouldn't be able to make a move for Spider until they start raiding Metkayina clans. For drama reasons anyway. And besides, the recoms are all trained military as well but now in bodies suited to the planet. It would be no easy feat.
Now part of me wants her to go for it before then anyway and get captured. Spider says he won't do anything for Quarritch anymore if he so much as lays a hand on her, so now Trudy is also just traipsing with them as another captive.
The other part of me wants her to take her shot when the RDA is preoccupied with hunting tulkuns to send a signal to the Sully's. Amidst the chaos of the hunt, I think she would be able to drop down onto the boat unnoticed (possibly with the help of a Na'vi friend of hers' ikran and her own kestrel is nearby or something). She hides on the ship until she sees Spider come out of the mouth of the tulkun looking absolutely sick to his stomach.
Because of how long he's been with the recoms, I think they'd probably keep less of a watchful eye on him, which would allow Trudy to signal him and make a run for it under their noses. She nabs Spider and they jump off the boat together, getting picked up by her Na'vi friend along the way on the back of her ikran. It would be a good half hour to an hour before Quarritch even noticed the kid was gone since he had been busy plotting with the tulkun hunters. And he can't justify going to get them.
Luckily because Trudy's a smart and skilled adult, she'd have more spare exopacks and once Spider says there's a tracker in his, she gives another one and they ditch his somewhere in the middle of the ocean or something.
From here, Trudy would probably pilot her kestrel towards Awa'atlu. I imagine that she's such a good pilot, she'd long since disabled any tracking signals or anything from her kestrel and flies solo/manually (so the RDA can't track her). She's going there because as pissed as she is with Jake for leaving her son and running, she knows he deserves to know how close Quarritch is and what his plans are.
I'd imagine in this version, since Trudy got him back NETEYAM DOESN'T DIE AND ALL IS WELL.
Need Jake to do some apologizing and shit but well that's out of the scope of this question rn.
Hope that answered the question. If you guys have any thoughts about what I mentioned I was uncertain about, please feel free to share.

How Many Detectives Are Needed To Sleep A Baby? || Jay Halstead x reader!
Cute and fluffy Jay, wife and baby + babysitter detectives
*re-posting this because I'm stupid and accidentaly delated my blog 🫠
Summary: Intelligence unit takes care of Jay's newborn baby while he and his wife are in court. Turns out it is the most difficult case they have worked on.
-"You can't go in there". Platt muttered in a scolding tone to Adam, who wanted to go into the coffee room.
-"Why not?" He asked strangely.
-"Shhhhhh". Kim gave him a punch on his arm. -"Keep it quiet, you're gonna wake her up".
-"Ok, alright". Ruzek kept his voice low. -"What the hell is going on, girls?"
-"Halstead's baby is sleeping in there. Don't you dare to interrupt her sweet dreams, bro". Kevin said from his desk.
-"Look at her. You can see her smile even from here". Hailey said, peeking through the window.
Trudy and Kim followed her.
-"She's so lucky she didn't get her father's mad face". The Sergeant enquired.
-"What do you think she's dreaming about? She looks so peaceful".
-"What's going on? Where's Jay? Where's her mom? What is she doing here all alone?" Adam was losing it, increasing his voice volume once more.
-"She's not alone. We're taking care of her!". Hailey frowned.
-"Adam, please". Voigh silently got out of his office and rushed towards him whispering. -"Would you keep it down? I can hear your voice even with my door closed. Let the baby rest, she's only weeks old and already has seen too much".
The detective opened his arms in a defeated gesture. He had just arrived and didn't understand anything.
-"Y/N is testifying right now, we couldn't avoid it. She and her colleagues published the investigation under their names, so...I couldn't stop it. Jay is by her side. The baby is here for protection".
-"She really is a hell of a journalist". Upton mentioned with admiration.
-"And a very brave woman. We owe her a lot in this case". Hank stated.
-"You know? You would have known about this if you had arrived in time to work". Burgess teases Adam.
-"Is there any news about the trial?" Platt wanted to know, worried about you.
-"Not yet, but Jay said he'll be in touch". The boss stated. -"You know these trials take time".
They weren't conscious about it, but the whole Intelligence squad looked hilarious talking with whispers and walking in tiptoes as they went back to their workplaces.
Time passed and the girl was still sleeping safe and sound, until Adam decided to stand up to stretch a bit and stumbled with some cables on the floor. Naturally, the clatter woke up the little baby.
-"It had to be you, right?" Kim mocked her husband as she helped him stand up.
Hailey and Kevin ran to the coffee room as if they were running a race. It was him who got there first and held the baby girl.
-"There, there. Uncle Kev is right here". He tried to reassure her. -"I had siblings and took care of them when they were babies. I can manage another one".
But after a few minutes, she was still uncontrollable.
-"Ok, it's my turn". Burgess got into the game and took the baby off his partner's arms. -"I'm the only mom here, the only one who has a real daughter. I know how to do it".
-"What are you talking about?" Trudy Platt laughed. -"Makayla was already a grown up when you adopted her!" And she grabbed the baby to accommodate her in her chest. But the crying did not stop.
-"Oh, no. What are they doing to you, sweetie?" Upton grabbed her and laid her in her arms. -"I am her godmother, she knows me better".
The baby Halstead slowed down her crying, but she was still restless.
-"Well, how many detectives do you need to sleep a baby, hum? You don't know anything". Hank Voight gasped. -"Give her to me, I'll show you all". But as soon as she was in the arms of the boss, her crying increased. -"Oh. I've lost touch!"
Jay and Y/N were already at the bullpen, waiting in the stairs. They got in time to witness the fluffy scene.
-"Hey, guys? She's not a rag doll, you know?" Jay said laughing at the scene and his friends turned around with surprise. -"She just needs her daddy's arms''. He took his daughter to stroke her and almost immediately she calmed down.
-"That's not fair". Platt crossed her arms.
-"We brought you coffee". You smiled, leaving the box you were carrying on one of the desks. -"There's not enough caffeine when you take care of a newborn. There's one for each of you, just as each of you like it. Look for your name in the tags".
-"Geez, thanks!" Adam said gladly and balanced the table. -"I was denied entrance to the coffee room the whole morning".
-"I'm sorry". You turned red.
-"Don't listen to him". A chorus of detectives said.
-"She's really calm, it was no problem". Kevin asserted and everyone else agreed.
You approached your husband and as soon as you were in your daughter's sight, the baby started to smile and giggle, throwing little kicks into the air.
-"What? Why are you laughing so much, baby?" You raised your hands and freed Jay's arms. -"Come with mommy, sweetie".
Everyone stared at the scene with tenderness, especially Kim, whose eyes started watering.
-"You wanna hold her?"
She just nodded and took the opportunity.
-"How was the trial? Are you alright?" Platt inquiered.
-"Yeah, I mean it was really scary, but I think it went fine". Y/N hands started to shake a little bit, but she was fast enough to hide them in her pockets. Nobody noticed, except for Jay.
-"She did a great job". He hugged you by the waist, trying to secretly ease you.
-"I have no doubt about it, she already showed us how much of a badass she is". Hank smirked.
-"I will just be more comfortable if you stay in here at least until the Jury deliberates, or as soon as I can go home with you. It's just a precaution, I'm not being paranoid or something".
-"Yes, I agree". Voight followed the idea.
-"Sure. Whatever you think is better".
The baby yawned and stretched herself so adorably, that she caught everyone's attention again.
-"I should put her down to sleep".
-"Alright. Take my seat, Y/N. We don't know how much we're staying here". Jay pointed out.
-"C'me on, Kim. Give the baby back to her mommy".
-"If you need help with the baby or you get bored of these people around, I'll be downstairs". The desk Sergeant winked at you and you smiled back at her back.
-"She won't be bored. She has me here". Hailey pulled a face.
-"I'll take provisions just in case the little one takes the coffee room again". Ruzek rushed to the kitchen.
Everyone else rolled their eyes in a funny way.

We Interrupt This Broadcast...
(Another two-part-er! Stay tuned for part 2 very shortly!)
Fandom: Hazbin Hotel
Pairing: Ler!Rosie, Ler!OC, Lee!Alastor (strictly platonic)
Content/Trigger Warnings: tickling, very brief blood mention, medical themes (non-graphic & painless). One comically graphic description of cannibalism (first paragraph). Also, this is set right after Alastor gets his ass handed to him by Adam, so you can expect a lil angst sprinkled in there (don't worry, he gets better).
If there are any trigger warnings you'd like me to add in the future (and/or to this fic), PLEASE let me know! I am always happy to oblige. 💕
This is a ticklefic! If that's not your cup of tea, kindly move along.
Ok... I'm gonna be honest folks, I have no idea if this fic is even coherent. This ain't my Best Work™ - this is literally the coping mechanism I've been relying on to put myself to sleep every night this week because HOLY SHIT my life is stressful at the moment. 😅
But anyway, I've decided I'm just gonna go ahead and post it, because 1) the world needs more lee!alastor, and 2) I'm not here to do my Best Work™, I'm here to write cute self-indulgent little stories about Alastor getting tickled to bits by his platonic wife. I'm here to decompress my hypervigilant ass at the end of long days by imagining my favorite endearingly creepy characters get wrecked by my other favorite endearingly creepy characters.
In summary, I'm here to have a good time, and I certainly did with this fic. So I hope you do too!
Featuring my new oc! (Rosie and Al still take center stage though, don't worry lol)
--------------------------------------------------------------
It's a little-known fact that cannibals make terrific doctors. When you spend every meal tearing the human body apart with your face, you end up with a pretty comprehensive intuition for demonic anatomy.
So Alastor supposed he should consider himself lucky to have Rosie and her loyal posse so close at hand after his battle with Adam.
He was certainly relieved when Rosie had stumbled upon him, barely conscious from blood loss on the floor of his wrecked radio tower - and especially a few hours later when, having been rushed back to Cannibal Town, he was whisked into a warm, familiar parlor and deposited on a comfy couch.
Within minutes Rosie had summoned a woman in a white coat who swooped in, produced a bottle of a strange, foul-smelling gel from her medicine bag, soaked a rag with it, and pressed it firmly against Alastor's wound. The searing pain evaporated almost on contact.
"What is that?" Alastor breathes, visibly relaxing against the arm of the couch he's propped against.
"Anesthetic." She begins preparing a needle and thread.
"Didn't know such a thing existed down here."
"Of course! We're demons, not barbarians," Rosie scoffs, watching from the sidelines.
Cannibals, as a rule, rarely last long enough to need a doctor, but Rosie is no ordinary cannibal. And Dr. Trudy Sawblade - a young surgical resident in life, and Rosie's personal physician in death - is the best of the best. While she hadn't quite completed her medical training before her untimely death, in Rosie's service she's gained more than enough experience to make up for her education cut short.
"That salve is derived from a distant cousin of the poison dart frog. Evidently most of the frogs are assholes, because hell has an downright enormous population of them." Trudy's voice is measured and matter-of-fact, with a soft lilt that is both soothing and vaguely unsettling. "Haven't been discovered on earth yet. Which is good, because one whiff of this would end a mortal life in a matter of seconds."
"Lucky you, you're already dead," Rosie chimes in cheerfully.
"Lucky me," Alastor murmurs, without conviction.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Truthfully, with the pain from his chest wound numbed, the weight of his recent defeat presses even more heavily on Alastor's heart. Someone - probably one of the cannibals who helped transport him from the rubble pile to Rosie's parlor - must have grabbed the broken microphone as they carried him out, because the fractured pieces are sitting on the side table at the other end of the couch. Under normal circumstances the awareness that someone had touched his staff without permission would spark a flash of rage from the Radio Demon, but now he can only stare dismally at what remains of his cane - aware that it's no longer capable of accomplishing much anyway.
It takes only a few minutes for Trudy to stitch Alastor back up and wrap his chest in a stretchy gauze. Meanwhile, Rosie quickly mends the worst of the tears in his clothes - if only to avoid having to watch her friend stare down the couch at his broken staff, with an uncharacteristic half-smile that damn near breaks her heart.
"Alright, sir, that should do it for now. It's a nasty gash, for sure, but the salve should keep it from getting infected."
"Thank you, my dear." He gives an appreciative nod to the surgeon, and Rosie too, as his fellow overlord hands him back his clothes.
"Can't have you going around with a big hole in your chest, can we?" Rosie steps back and scrutinizes her own patch job as he slowly dresses himself again. "It ain't perfect... especially for a classy fellow like you. But I'm sorry to report that I saw my tailor at a Sunday brunch just last week. Inconvenient, but I gotta admit, he made a wonderful casserole."
For the briefest of moments, this aside manages to tweak Alastor's smile into something vaguely genuine. "I'm sure he did."
"One more thing, Mr. Alastor, sir," Trudy jumps in as the radio demon pulls on his coat. "So sorry, I almost forgot. The angel also threw you against a wall, correct?"
At the recollection, Alastor's smile stiffens into something more closely resembling a grimace. His antlers rise between his ears. "Does it matter?"
"You may be at risk for internal injuries." If Trudy is at all fazed by inviting the most powerful overlord in hell's annoyance, it doesn't show. "I really ought to check, just to be safe."
Alastor looks away. As loathe as he is to even acknowledge his own fragility, he truly isn't sure of the extent of his own injuries - given that he's not used to receiving them in the first place. And he'd be damned (well, damned twice) if Adam had ruptured something vital, spelling the radio demon's second death a few hours after the fact.
He grits his teeth. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt."
"Lovely. If you could just lie back, sir..." As he obliges, she kneels beside the couch. "I'm just going to feel for any swelling..." Her hands hover over him-
"Er, wait." Alastor abruptly sits up.
"It's alright, I won't touch your wound!" Trudy soothes. "I'll just be feeling down here..." She gestures to his midsection (which elicits a sharp flinch).
"No, I-" He hesitates. "I'm... not sure this is necessary."
"Oh, Alastor, stop worryin'!" Rosie reassures him with a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Trudy is quite picky about her meals. She'd never go for venison."
"That's... not what..."
Alastor pauses, and evidently decides against trying to explain what he meant. He reluctantly lies back against the cushions again.
"I'm going to place my hands under your shirt, sir. If you feel any pain, please alert me."
"Very well."
As Trudy lifts his shirt, he looks like he is going to say something more - but whatever it is dies on his tongue the moment her hands make contact with his stomach. He brings one knee up sharply.
"Tender there, sir?"
"No! No, your hands are cold." His words have gone uncharacteristically stiff.
Trudy methodically probes one side of his belly, then the other (which in turn causes his other knee to pop up). This time when Trudy asks if he's in pain, he merely shakes his head.
The surgeon furrows her brow, concentrating. Human-animal hybrids like Alastor already take a bit of poking around just to get a sense for each unique configuration of organs. It doesn't help that the man is bracing for every touch...
"Are you sure this doesn't hurt, sir?" she murmurs tentatively. "You're very tense."
"Yes." The word comes out like a hiss. She glances at the radio demon's face. He's wearing his typical showman's smile, but his eyes are fixed on the ceiling with a weird, wide, unwavering stare.
Finally the surgeon sits back. "Well, I don't feel anything concerning. But to be honest, sir, I can't feel much of anything." She turns apologetically to her employer. "His stomach is all clenched up..."
But Rosie is simply standing there pressing a huge grin into her glove. She's known Alastor for decades. She can read his expressions like a magazine.
"Alastor, darling," Rosie drawls casually. "Are you ticklish?"
From the radio demon's reaction, you'd think she'd asked if he was an Exorcist. He scrambles to sit up. "No! Why would-"
"You're ticklish. That's..." She catches herself just before the word precious.
"...What?!" There's an edge of defensiveness to his voice that Rosie very rarely hears from him.
"Why are you embarrassed?"
"I'm not emb- That's not- what-" Oh, she's giving him that look. "I'm just- I wasn't-"
As he speaks, Alastor's voice suddenly goes thin. His gaze turns inward. "I'm stuttering. I don't stutter! I've never stuttered!" He clutches his coat closer around himself. "I am the RADIO DEMON, for heaven's sake, I don't sta-AHH! Haha-!"
Evidently a scribble to the ribs is a very effective way to interrupt a panicking demon. Rosie runs her fingers from his hip up his side to his arm and back a couple times for good measure.
The amount of startled laughter she is able to draw from just this surprise touch delights her - the poor man is so ridiculously sensitive that a five-second one-handed tickle leaves him fully breathless.
"Okay! Okay, okahay! Keheh- Rosie!"
"Sorry dear, couldn't resist." She holds her hands up, still beaming like a stadium light. "I'll stop torturing you."
Alastor clears his throat. "You're not torturing me, dearest." He straightens his bowtie, clearly attempting to salvage his dignity. "You know what I always say, laughter is a powerful sign of-"
He cuts off with a sharp inhale and defensive flinch as Rosie perches on the edge of the sofa beside Trudy. She grins.
"You're right. That's certainly your specialty, isn't it?"
Alastor forces a nervous chuckle. "Never fully dressed without a smile, you know."
"Well don't worry, darling. I understand." She pats his knee. "Just because you've got the scariest evil cackle in hell doesn't mean you appreciate having it tickled out of you."
Rosie had expected this assurance to put him at ease, but if anything, he seems more troubled.
"Why would I mind a little, ah..." Tickling. Tick-ling. He can't bring himself to articulate two syllables. Is this all he's left with without his staff? "...Er, a little bit of levity? Can't let things get too serious, can we?" With another quick cough, the radio demon finally manages to get his voice to fall back into his familiar breezy cadence. He turns to Trudy. "Now, are we... quite finished with that examination?"
"Nothing seems amiss, from what I can feel." Trudy takes a step back. "Which is not much, but I think I've already made you uncomfortable enough..."
"Nonsense! I'm perfectly at ease!" He lies back again and smooths his coat. "Please, finish your little checkup. I insist."
Trudy regards him curiously for a moment. "Right." Her hands hover over his belly again. "But if you want me to stop, sir, just say the word-"
"I assure you that w-won't be necessahary..."
Trudy watches him seize up before her fingers even make contact. This time she presses a little deeper into his belly, trying to feel around his defensiveness.
"You are punching holes in my couch," Rosie remarks dryly, watching the poor demon's claws bury themselves in the cushions.
"I kn... ohow, I'm just-" He squeezes his eyes shut as Trudy hits a particularly bad spot. And then another. And another... hell, his torso one big bad spot.
"What do you think, Trudy?"
The young doctor just shakes her head.
"Alastor. Darling. You have GOT to relax."
"I am!" Alastor's composure is dangling by the thinnest of threads.
"Maybe it would help," Trudy says, with infinite caution, "to just go ahead and laugh, sir."
A beat. And then Rosie bursts into laughter.
"Giving new meaning to the 'deer in the headlights' expression, my friend." She scoots closer. "I thought you just said you don't mind a little 'levity'..."
"I don't!"
"In that case. Carry on, Trudy - Auntie Rosie is gonna help our patient out a bit while you work."
Too late, Alastor realizes what his fellow overlord has in mind. "Wait, wait! Ros-"
A delicate set of nails find the region just under his ribs - and it's all downhill from there.
"Ah! Fuhuck!" Alastor chokes on a curse before he can catch himself. He twists sideways, collapses into muffled giggles, and briefly manages to pull himself together - just barely - with a few hyperventilated breaths. "Rosie, really! This isn't- please- ack! I can't-" There's that damn stutter again. He hadn't even stuttered when Adam slashed him.
And now, Great Alastor the Radio Demon, undone by some scribbles? And a medical exam?!
Meanwhile, Trudy can feel even less now than she could before, her patient's belly now quaking with silent, suppressed mirth. But she takes one look at Rosie's delighted expression... and continues probing anyway, curling a subtle little smirk of her own.
It seems Rosie has picked up on a slightly less tangible injury than anything Trudy can address. But fortunately, they've just stumbled upon a promising potential treatment.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Part 2 is already pretty much finished - my brain is just too mushy at this point to contend with Tumblr's shitty text interface any longer, and this feels like a good stopping point.
Lemme get a good night sleep and another dose of Prozac and I'll have the rest out shortly 😅

Jay- What Are You Doing?
I waddle to the precinct with some food for me and Jay to eat on his lunch break
"What on gods earth are you doing here?" Trudy asks crossing her arms
"I'm here to eat with Jay. Can you buzz me up please?"
"You should be at home"
"I've been at home for weeks. I'm bored" I moan at Trudy who sighs
"Alright alright" she picks up her phone "detective chuckles come and get your heavily pregnant wife before she goes into labour on my floor" I laugh as Trudy puts down the phone. In no time at all Jay is by my side and we make our way to the bullpen
"You should have stayed at home" he says with a hand placed on my lower back
"I can't stay home anymore. I've rearranged the furniture enough times"
"Your going to hurt yourself doing that" he scolds. We arrive in the bullpen where I'm greeted by everyone
"Aren't you meant to be on maternity leave?" Kim asks giving me a hug
"I am, but I'm bored and I needed some air"
"How long have you got left YN?" Antonio asks sitting at the edge of his desk with his arms crossed. Jay pulls out a chair for me to sit on
"Three weeks, but Natalie said because this is my first I could be late" I reply sitting down on said chair "now I'm starving so if you have more questions can they wait until I've eaten?" I open up the bag and grab a sandwich
"Gear up, I've just had intel about an armed robbery" Voight says walking out of his office "hello YN, good to see you. You can stay here until Jay gets back, take a nap or whatever while you wait"
"Thanks" I give a smile at Voight
"Ok let's move"
"See you in a bit" Jay bends now and kisses my forehead before he leaves for the locker room to get ready.
While they're all gone I have the urge to rearrange the break room. I'm now stood on a stool checking the dates of all the coffees and hot chocolates we have
"This is a pigs stye" I mutter to myself then start to laugh "ha pigs because were the police" I then start to hear chattering getting louder which means everyone's back. Quickly, but carefully, I get down and throw away anything out of date and put the chair back to where I got it from
"YN?" I hear Jay shout. I switch on the coffee pot to make it look like I'm making a drink
"In here" I call out. Jay walks into the break room and kisses my cheek
"What are you doing?"
"Making a drink"
"Coffee? But you can't have caffeine?"
"Babe I can have a little and I just fancied a coffee" lies. I've hated coffee since getting pregnant and Jay knows this
"Go sit down, I'll make you a drink" I nod my head and sit at the table. Jay opens the cupboard and takes out a tea bag and putting it into a cup. He pours some hot water in my cup then some milk and hands it to me "so what were you really up to?"
"Nothing" I give Jay a sweet smile. Adam walks into the break room and opens up the cupboard
"Where the hell is my coffee?" I turn around on the seat so I'm facing away from Adam
"YN what we're you doing?"
"Ok I may have sorted the cupboard out"
"Meaning you stood on a chair while being 9 months pregnant"
"No I magically grew" I sip my tea
"Did you throw my coffee?"
"It was out of date"
"Told you this nesting was a nightmare. She's been like it since she turned 7 months pregnant" Jay sighs "right finish your tea and I'll take you home"
"No Jay please just let me stay. I'll be on my best behaviour. I won't rearrange any furniture or climb on any chairs. Please I'm so bored at home"
"Fine, but you sit at your desk and play on your phone. You don't get involved in any cases"
"Yeah yeah" I roll my eyes and get up from the seat and waddle to my desk and sit down while everyone gets on with their work.

Love Diagnosis
Pairing: Adrian Monk x Reader
Summary: Monk has a crush on his new assistant (reader) and talks to his therapist about it
Word Count: 1,544
Notes: She/Her pronouns are used for the reader. Trudy Monk, Leland Stottlemeyer, and Natalie Teeger are mentioned but don't make an appearance. Entire fic is just dialogue between Adrian and Dr. Kroger. Mentioned age gap between Monk and the reader.
Read it on AO3 here
Story:
“You don’t understand, doctor. This isn’t some cute crush. I can’t get her out of my head!”, Monk said frantically from the chair he sat in across from his therapist.
“Adrian”, Dr. Kroger began while taking off his glasses and sitting forward in his chair, “it’s perfectly normal to look forward to seeing someone you like. It seems that you and Y/N have developed a special relationship and it’s only natural for you to think of her. If anything, this is great progress. It means you’re moving on after losing Trudy”.
“No, no, no, no”, said Adrian as he waved his hands about, “I am not moving on from Trudy. She is my wife. Y/N is a parasite who has infected my brain. She’s probably an alien. That’s the only explanation. A very pretty alien, but an alien”.
Dr. Kroger smiled, “Y/N is not an alien. It’s okay to be scared. You and Trudy were together for a long time and you were both very devoted to each other”.
“I can’t be scared because I’m not moving on. How can I be scared to do something I’m not doing?”
“Adrian-“
“It’s like she’s taken me hostage in my own mind. Everywhere I look, she’s all I think about. I walked into a CVS with Natalie today to get more wipes and I saw the shampoo section. Why was my first thought ‘What kind of shampoo does Y/N use? She always smells so nice.’?”
Dr. Kroger sets his glasses on the table next to him, “I’m going to suggest something that may sound a little crazy to you. Have you considered telling her how you feel?”
“…Dr. Kroger”, Monk scoffed, “Are you sure we’re sitting in the right seats? Because where I’m sitting it seems that you may be the one that needs help if you think that is a reasonable solution.”
“So I’m going to take that as a no.”
“Of course, I haven’t talked to her about it!”
“And why is that?”
“….well…”
“Well?”
“…”
“You’re frightened she may not feel the same way as you do.”
“…yes”
“And if she does feel the same way, you don’t want to know because then you’d have to accept the fact that you’re in love with a woman after Trudy’s passing.”
“yes”, Monk grumbled while looking at the floor with sudden interest.
“So you think it’s better to bury your feelings deep inside and only let them out during our sessions”
“Now you’re getting it. I’m so glad we could come to an understanding”, Monk smiled and sat back in his chair, relieved.
“Adrian, these feelings aren’t just going to disappear overnight because you don’t want to face them. You see her almost every day now.”
“This is all Natalie’s fault.”, Adrian furrowed his brows as he spoke, “I wouldn’t have had to hire another assistant if she didn’t need so many days off.”
“Natalie needed the time off to take care of her daughter as a single mother. It’s a miracle she was able to balance work and her child for as long as she did.”
“Yeah, well, she should’ve balanced for longer so I wouldn’t have to deal with this.”
“Tell me, what is it that you like about Y/N?”
“She smells nice.”
“You mentioned that already”
“She’s a good assistant. She’s very clean and doesn’t touch me without asking. I like her hairstyle too, not just the shampoo. Her nails are neat and manicured, so I don’t feel disgusted by the thought of her touching me.”
“Anything else?”
“When she does touch me…her hands are soft.”
Dr. Kroger looked at Adrian with raised eyebrows and interest written across his face.
“Y/N, she has a certain way of talking. She emphasizes certain words in her sentences and talks with her hands.”
At this point, Adrian is staring up at the ceiling and smiling fondly as he pictures Y/N in his mind, “She gets so animated when she’s passionate. And she has so many strong opinions on things. Things I never even give a second thought to. Just the other day, she went on a very passionate rant about what kind of handle she prefers on umbrellas.”
“I would’ve thought you’d have an opinion on that sort of thing.”
“Oh, I do now that I’ve thought about it. I much prefer the curved handles to the straights ones, even if they have grooves for the fingers to sit”, he scoffs and shakes his head, “the fingers are never as comfortable on those as they are on the curved handles and-“
“I think we’re getting off track here. Is there anything you dislike about her?”
“Oh, yes”, Adrian quickly nodded, “She’s a horrible driver and always parks crooked. She’s lucky she has me or she’d anger a lot of other drivers with her parking.”
“Uh-huh.”
“She chews on her mints and I can’t stand the sound. What psychopath chews on those? You’re supposed to let them sit in your mouth.”
“I see.”
“She stands too close to me wherever we go. Like I said she doesn’t touch me without asking but she’s always so close.”
“And that bothers you?”
“Yes, my heart starts to beat very fast and I can’t breathe sometimes. Once I thought I was having a heart attack but she told me I was just having a panic attack and made me do breathing exercises with her.”
“Did they help?”
“Yes, but only for a little bit because she kept standing close to me after that. She was worried I would faint so she stood even closer.”
“And?”
“I’ve never had clammier hands in my life.”
“Did you have these symptoms when you first started to see Trudy?”
“I…I don’t remember. It was all so long ago. Let’s not talk about that.”
“I apologize if I made you uncomfortable. Let’s move on from that.”
“Okay.”
“…”
“I had eggs for breakfast this morning but the yolk was a little too runny. That made my skin itch.”
“Let’s not talk about eggs.”
“Okay.”
“If you and Y/N were to enter a romantic relationship-“
“That would never happen.”
“Humor me for a second. If you and Y/N entered a romantic relationship, what do you think it would be like? Truly imagine it for me. What would dating Y/N look like?”
“I…I don’t know. I’m not dating her so how would I know?”
“Just try and imagine it.”
“Okay.”, Adrian sighed quietly as he closed his eyes, “Okay. I’m imagining.”
“Go on.”
“We’d have to spend a lot of time together. That’s what couples do.”
“What would that time spent together look like?”
“I suppose we would hang out at my house. Go to different places around town. Maybe to that coffee shop she likes.”
“Which shop is that?”
“The one on third avenue with the blue walls.”
Adrian’s eyes were still closed but he could hear the smile in Dr. Kroger’s voice, “You remember the kind of things she’s passionate about, little details about her, and even what coffee shop she likes.”
“I’m a detective. It’s my job to remember things about people.”
“Do you know how she takes her coffee?”
“Of course.”
“Do you know how Natalie takes her coffee?”
“No”
“Do you know how Captain Stottlemeyer takes his coffee?”
“No”
“Interesting. Have you ever thought about kissing Y/N?”
Adrian opened his eyes, “I don’t see how that’s relevant.”
“I find it very relevant. Have you thought about kissing her?”
Adrian took a long pause before answering, “Yes. Once she stood very close to me, she stands much too close to me, and I…”
“You…?”
“I was looking at her lips and I started to lean in but I pulled away.”
“Did she know you wanted to kiss her?”
“I don’t think so. When she asked why I was staring I lied and told her she had dry lips and needed to put on chapstick. It couldn’t have been further from the truth. Her lips looked very”, he pauses looking for the right word in his mind “soft.”
“Has she ever indicated any interest in you in a romantic sense?”
“I don’t think so.”
“No, you wouldn’t.”, Dr. Kroger sighs, “Adrian, there is only one solution to this dilemma and that is to speak to her about it.”
“That would be highly inappropriate. I’m her employer and several years older than her.”
“While that is true, she has the right to know about this. She spends nearly every day with you.”
“What if she quits? Then, I’d have to find another assistant and I don’t want her to go.”
“That is a risk you’ll just have to take. It is much more likely that she will either tell you she doesn’t feel the same way or that she does. She’s your assistant but she’s your friend too. I’m sure she’d understand.”
“But what if she doesn’t?”
“But what is she does?”
Monk sat in silence with no rebuttal prepared. What could he possibly say to that?
“We’re nearing the end of our time together, Adrian. Next time you see Y/N, politely tell her how you’ve been feeling about her.”
“...”
“Adrian, tell her.”
“Yes, Dr. Kroger.”
“I’ll see you on Tuesday.”

I'm writing a one-shot for Kelsey and Trudy rn and I had a thought, so I am putting my peachyville prediction out there now.
I want to trust Tucker. Really, I do, but I can't. I think he is with the group of people behind terrorizing the town, and before it even became what we know of the Peachyville Horror, human Trudy knew. It's what he does in the basement and when she needs to leave the house in the middle of the day.
And because she knew, Tucker got scared and either killed her, made a story that she went "upstate" or something, created robot Trudy to disguise his action to not raise suspicion, and is hiding this until the last minute
OR.
Trudy was not killed but was said to have "gone away", Tucker was working on a robot Trudy the whole time to not raise suspicion, and she is somewhere being held captive as a future sacrifice to further the horrors and leave robot trudy to still fulfill her wifely and motherly duties while she is gone, but she isn't perfect enough yet to make the lie possible and that is why the robot Trudys keep getting dumped.
Okay, thoughts???
#dungeons and daddies#the peachyville horror#peachyville spoilers#trudy trout#tucker trout#oh man oh man i hope i am wrong bc i love the story and i dont want Will to see it and think it was easy to guess#but i will shit myself if i am right and also praise Will ENDLESSLY because it is SO GOOD!!#it would also appeal to america's sweetheart Beth May for the true crime element#lets see#text post#not art

Imagine this.
Since "being" with Quaritch, you would cook for him. That included his coffee.
One day, the Colonel came to the shared room with you. He was in a good mood. He became a grump more than usual when Trudy, Norman, and Grace escaped. And you were left behind and that you betrayed him.
And the final battle was almost close and Selfridge would throw tantrums. No doubt, the Colonel was stressed.
Now he seemed more mellow. He smiled wickedly as he informed you that Grace is dead. His cameraman followed Trudy's chopper and Grace was shot by him.
You bowed your head and sobbed. He seemed to enjoy your misery. He watched you. He then ordered you to shut up. You did. You were scared he will whip your back again. Like he did when you tried to escape and leave him.
The Colonel rolled your clothes off. He didn't touch you since your attempted escape that night. He was busy with work and he was angry at you. You broke his heart. He gave you his heart. Turned out you were using him.
Not to mention the rumor of the base, everyone thought you were a regular girlfriend but when others saw you try to escape. They found out you didn't love the Colonel.
The colonel made you sleep after he was finished. He had to prepare his men against the Navi. The day was close. He showered and he was dressing himself. You pressed your perky size breasts against his back and wrapped your arms around him
"Darling, when will you return to me?" You purred in his ear.
The Colonel peeked at you by the corner of his eye. He sighed. "I wish I knew. I have so much shit to do."
"Do you need any help from me, my love?" You traced his scar.
The Colonel felt his heart warm up and his penis ache for attention. He had multiple rounds with you not ten minutes ago. He wants to do so much more with you again. Fuck.
"Nothing a scientist can do. I just need some soldiers and miners for labor. Just stay here and wait for me. I will come as soon as I am done." He turned around and held your face.
You smiled. That pretty smile. You handed him a cup of coffee.
He kissed you good bye and left with mug in hand.
You smirked. Fool.
....
The Colonel felt much better after being with you. Everything was back to normal now. But then, he started feeling weird...
He was watching his pilot shoot at Navis in the chopper. He then felt like vomiting and his eyes became so heavy.
The fuck is going on? Then he looked down on his mug. His eyes widened. Did you put something in his drink? He couldn't believe it. You wouldn't betray him again. All that affection you showed him earlier
It must have been real. He whipped you to submission. Was it all an act?
He checked his phone screen. The camera showed you to not be in his room despite him locking it.
He then contacted his remaining soldiers at the base to find you. They said you were not there at the base.
And one small helicopter was missing
His eyes narrowed. You used your beautiful face to manipulate him...again. he felt like a fool. Fuckin women. All were fickle whores. He will punish you so bad when he finds you.
But what? Then a grin graced his handsome face. If he pumped a brat inside you. You have no choice but to stay. Yeah. That's it.
You are in for a big surprise.
As for you. You ran away with the directions from Trudy. You arrived in time to attend Grace's funeral and say good bye. You cried for her and your Navi friends hugged you for comfort. They promised to protect you against Quaritch. Jake told the tribe how you were forced to be his sex slave.
Years later. You and your triplets were captured by the Recom Quaritch. He studied you through the glass window in the room you were confined in. He sipped his coffee. He remembered what happened. You escaped and never saw the human Quaritch ever again. He was killed by Sully and his wife.
Now, he came from the dead to take what is rightfully his.

As an anon asked about my hopes for this season's PD, I'm gonna write down my wishes for both Fire and PD (I don't watch Med actively though I may start now that Sarah Ramos and Darren Barnet have joined the cast...).
Fire 🔥🔥🔥
What I wish for every year: no drama for Stellaride. I know Severide's brother will cause clashes and there's gonna be tension over the whole baby thing. If they're going down that road, then let them go through it in an organic way. Let them talk, not fight.
New Chief. It would be nice if they went for something different than the usual "new guy challenges 51 but after 3 episodes he understands how great it is, submits to the 51 way and everyone loves everybody else". We've seen that billions of times. It would be much more interesting to see how instead 51 adapts to a different leadership style.
Also the new Chief has an ex-wife (so pumped for KaDee!). I would absolutely love a sort of "comedy of remarriage" thing. I'm a sucker for second chances.
Novak is super fun and it would be great to see her develop as a character on her own, not on the basis of a romantic relationship (already rolling my eyes at the whole vibe with young Severide). Let us see her be good at her job and have loads of fun.
Speaking of Novak. A true party girl, who I feel would get along very well with Trudy (who, we have established, had a certain reputation back in the day). I am hoping for some short interaction at some point. Imagine that! Throw Violet (aka the captain of Trudy's fanclub) into the mix and I'd be very happy.
The return of Annabelle Herrmann. That's it, that's the wish. I love that menace to society.
More quality screentime for Ritter.
Kylie coming back and staying on Truck.
Mouch, my beloved! Of course, I haven't forgotten you! Just keep him alive, doing stupid things with Herrmann, but I also want to see him study and prepare for the Lt. exam. Study session with Trudy anyone? 😏 She, of all people, would know how to make him pass that test.
Plouch being Plouch.
PD 🚨🚨🚨
We might be getting patrol back with Kiana. Our prayers may have been answered. I'm hoping for less character-centric episodes and more of a balanced, choral vibe where there's also space for levity. I will be disappointed, I know, but dreams never go out of business, right?
Let Kiana stay on patrol a while. I don't want her to jump right back onto Intelligence. It would be the same as they did with Torres and we need patrol.
A recurring Petrovic, if not a regular. I like her.
It would be time for people to get promoted. I think both Kim and Kevin would be ready at this point, although it seems there will be one promotion only.
More quality screentime for Kevin. Let his centric episodes/cases go beyond race.
More girl!dad Adam.
I hope we will get to see the Burzek wedding. Keeping my expectations low on this and certainly I don't think we will get a crossover (not even Mouch as much as I'd like to), but I'd want to see some bits of the ceremony with everyone from PD there.
Also hoping for a throwback to THE wedding planner and Kim chucking down vodka at Trudy's wedding. Maybe Kim can get those $20 back.
I would still kill for a scene between Trudy and Mack.
As I wrote ages ago, and as I say every 3 seconds, more 👏🏻Trudy 👏🏻 on screen! 👏🏻 For Trudy to be involved more in cases, but also for her to have a more focused episode since she hasn't had one since friggin' S4. As I wrote here, I'd LOVE for Intelligence to pick up a case that links back to an old one Trudy worked on when she was in Robbery and Homicide and explore a bit of Trudy's career and past.

Hank, Trudy, Alvin Oneshot
Requested by @andgry4
Synopsis: The three of them, back in their patrol days, have to take on a fourth partner to even the squad out. Except, this partner is kind of a sexist jerk…
Hank and Al pulled up to the district nearly at the same time. They got out of their cars, instinctively walking in together as they often did, each with coffee in hand. “I heard there’s some new guy who transferred in from another district,” Hank said, the more talkative of the two.
“Yeah,” Al replied, sipping his coffee as they entered into the locker room.
“I wonder which one of us he’ll partner him up with.”
“Probably Trudy,” Al replied, shrugging off his coat and taking a banana and orange out of his pocket.
“Meredith is still making you eat those?”
“Every meal.” He shook his head, taking a long swig of his coffee. “Who am I to argue?”
“Smart choice. You’ll live forever if you eat bananas and oranges every day, and know not to argue with your wife. You’ll be like those old guys on the news who are a hundred and five and attribute it to eating an apple a day.”
Al laughed softly, a rare laugh that only Hank could pull from him. He didn’t say much else, just getting changed for the day into his beat outfit, same as Hank.
The two left the locker room, finding Trudy outside in her beat outfit as well. “Morning, boys. Ready to get out there and fight some crime?”
“The hell’s gotten into you?” Al asked as he ate his banana.
“What do you mean, Alvin? I’m always this chipper.”
Hank scoffed, looking around to see the desk sergeant, Sergeant O’Neal, talking to a new cop. “Ah, shit. Is he assigning us that guy?”
Al looked over. “Damn it, that’s Jacob Logan.”
Trudy nodded, lowering her voice. “Yeah, I remember him. Why do you think I’m trying not to get on the Sergeant’s bad side today?”
“You get a squad already?” Hank asked, shifting his gaze back to Trudy.
“Yeah. Sarge paired us together. I guess he’s going to put Al with Logan.”
“What?” Al frowned, looking to the desk, then moving backward toward the locker room.
Hank and Trudy exchanged a look, then went with Al to go out the back way.
“Not so fast, you three!” O’Neal’s voice called from the desk. The three of them stopped and visibly wilted. They’d been caught.
“Damn it,” Trudy muttered, then turned around, forcing a smile. “What can I help you with, Sarge?”
“Get out on patrol with Voight before I kick both of your asses,” he replied. “Olinsky, come here.”
Al muttered something under his breath, Trudy and Hank taking the opportunity to escape the Sergeant’s line of sight and go out the back. Al walked over, tossing the peel of his banana in the trash can nearby. “Yeah, Sarge?” he asked, nonchalantly.
“This is Jacob Logan, your new partner. Logan, this is Alvin Olinsky.”
“Yeah, we went through the academy together.” Logan reached out to shake Al’s hand.
“Yeah, I remember.” Al shook his hand out of curtesy, but pulled back as soon as he could.
“Good,” O’Neal said with a nod. “Here’s the keys to 452. Get out there.”
Logan grabbed the keys before Al could. Al just sighed and walked away from the counter, out the back to where Trudy and Hank were waiting, Logan following on his heel. When Al emerged from the building, Hank and Trudy both set their gaze on him, then on Logan.
Al sighed as he stopped in front of them. “Hank, Trudy, you remember Jacob Logan from the academy?”
Hesitantly, Hank spoke first. “Yeah, I remember.” He stuck out his hand to shake. “Good to see you again. How’d you end up in this district?”
Logan shook Hank’s hand. “Yeah, my old district didn’t work out. I was paired with a woman cop.” He shrugged. “No offense… Trudy, was it?”
Trudy nodded. “Yeah,” she replied, not bothering to shake his hand when he held it out. “Sorry, wouldn’t want to give you cooties.”
Logan laughed it off, putting his hand into his pocket. “Yeah, alright. Well, I’m glad to be here. Closer to home anyways.”
“Yeah,” Hank said, nodding. “Well, Trudy and I better get going. See you later. Bye Al.”
Al grumbled something under his breath again as Hank patted his shoulder and walked by. Hank and Trudy found their car and left the district, Al looking back to Jacob. “Well, you got the keys. Go find the car.”
“You’re making me go get it and pick you back up?”
Al pulled out his orange. “You’re pretty bright.” He leaned against his personal car, peeling the orange. “Go ahead. I believe in you.”
Logan scoffed, walking through the yard. It was a long walk, longer than he’d expected. Then, he pulled the car around to where Al had finished his orange. Al got into the passenger seat. “Hey,” Logan said, “did you know the walk was that long?”
“Why do you think I made you pick me up?”
“Why are you busting my balls here, Olinsky? We went through the academy together. You know me.”
“Exactly,” Al replied.
Logan scoffed and then drove out of the district, shaking his head. “Listen, I don’t know what I did to piss you off already, but you’re stuck with me now. I can’t transfer again or ask for a different partner-“
“Why not?”
“Because a transfer order would look bad on me. And O’Neal said it’s either you or Platt.”
Al shrugged. “If you don’t like me, then ask for a different partner.”
“I just told you why I can’t. He’ll pair me with Platt.”
Al scoffed and looked at him, then shook his head and looked back out the window. “What’s your problem with Platt? She not go on a date with you?”
“I heard she banged half our class. I also heard she banged the instructor and that’s the only reason she’s a cop now. Most women get through that way.”
Al shot him a hard glare. If looks could kill, he would’ve just murdered him. “Platt is good police. Better than most guys I’ve worked with.”
“Oh, she must’ve banged you too, Olsinky. What was it, a sweet little affair before your wedding night?”
“You need to shut the hell up. Now.” Al was steaming, even if he didn’t show it. He was good at keeping his composure on the outside, looking out the window.
Logan laughed. “You break my balls, I’ll bust yours.”
Al was formulating a response in silence when the radio called for them to respond to a domestic dispute. They went on their way, Al silent as he finished his coffee.
“A domestic this early in the morning? Must be the wife is on her period.”
It took all the restraint Al had to not strangle the man beside him as they rushed to the scene.
.
When they pulled up, Al got out before the car was even turned off, walking up to the house and knocking on the door. “Chicago PD,” he announced.
“It’s open! C-Come in!” A woman’s voice could be heard from inside.
Al opened the door carefully, Jacob beside him now, gun drawn. Al looked at him. “Whoa, whoa, calm down,” he said softly. “Ma’am, is there anyone in the house with you?”
“No, he left out the back when he heard the sirens,” she replied, crying softly.
“Alright, my partner and I are coming in, okay?” Al and Jacob made their way inside, finding the woman on the couch, beat and bruised.
She had a deep gash on her leg that she was holding towels on, and she sobbed softly, her hands shaking. “I-I’m sorry, I just, I can’t get up… it hurts a lot.”
“Hey, it’s alright,” Al said, crouching beside her. “We’re here now, it’s alright. I’m going to call you an ambulance, okay?”
“A-Alright.”
“Good, keep holding pressure on that.” Al stood, motioning Jacob aside. “Clear the house, I’ll stay with her. See if you can track him out the back side. I’m going to call for an ambo and see if there’s a female officer in the area. She probably won’t talk to me.”
“Taking me off the main part of the job?”
Al scoffed. “You don’t like women anyway, so you might as well clear the house and see if the guy is hiding out somewhere nearby.” With that, he turned and went back to the woman’s side, taking off his belt to use as a tourniquet for her, using his radio to call for an ambulance and a second unit, one with a female officer, if available.
Jacob went through the house, clearing it, then out the back. In the meantime, Al continued to soothe the woman and ensured she stayed awake. She was losing a lot of blood. Finally, a second unit showed up, Trudy and Hank walking in. Trudy switched places with Al to talk to the woman, Al sighing and finding a sink to wash his hands of her blood. The paramedics arrived a few moments later.
Hank looked to Al. “Domestic, right? You find the guy?”
“I sent Logan while I stayed with the woman.”
Hank hummed. “Where’s he at?”
“Hell if I know. Hell if I care, frankly.”
“He pissed you off this much already?”
Al groaned, putting his hands to his head. “Let’s just say I’d rather be with my wife when she’s hysterical.”
“Damn,” Hank replied, then looked up as Logan emerged from the back door, toting a man with him, panting.
“He gave me chase down the alley but I got him. Thanks for the help, Olinsky. Good to know I can count on you.” Then, Logan pushed the man out the front door and to the squad.
Hank watched Logan for a moment, then looked to Al. “Maybe you should ask O’Neal for a different partner.”
“Yeah, if I can get through shift without strangling him myself. You would’ve punched him already at least twice.”
“That’s probably why he didn’t pair him up with me. O’Neal knows better.”
“I wish he didn’t.” Al sighed as he watched the woman being carted out on a stretcher, Trudy stopping beside Al and Hank.
She looked at Al. “Hey, how’s it going with your partner?”
Al groaned. “He hates you, apparently.”
Trudy shrugged. “A lot of people do, Al. That’s the reality of being a woman cop these days.”
“You should’ve heard the rest of it.”
Hank and Trudy looked at one another, then back to Al. Al glanced up just as Jacob came back inside. “Alright, let’s get going and take this guy back to the district. Unless you wanted to spend a little more time with your side piece there.”
“Excuse me?” Hank asked, raising an eyebrow. “Hey, knock your attitude down a couple notches, or you and me are going to have issues next.”
Jacob scoffed, but put his hands up in surrender, walking out of the house to sit in the squad.
Hank watched him, then looked back to Al. “You need me to take care of this guy?”
“No, but I couldn’t use the help if one of you wants to dig into his past a little.”
Trudy nodded. “I’ve got friends everywhere. I’ll ask around.”
Al mirrored her nod, then left the house, getting into the squad with Logan. Neither said anything as they drove back to the district.
.
Back out on patrol later that day, Al looked out the window of the passenger side of their squad. He was silent, trying to rationalize why Jacob was such an asshole all of the time.
“Hey, where do you want to get lunch at?”
Al took in a breath, looking at Jacob now. “Uh, wherever. Just not Tex-Mex. I’ve had enough of that to last me a lifetime.”
“Yeah? Voight like that stuff?”
“Platt,” Al replied.
“Oh, can’t say no to a woman?”
Al scoffed. “What’s your problem?”
“Nothing, what’s yours?”
“I have a problem with men who are sexist, believe it or not. Trudy is a better cop than you and me and Voight put together.
Jacob rolled his eyes, pulling over in front of a local diner. “Look, I’m sure she does the job fine or whatever, but it’s not really a job for women. All women cops are good for are looking good in photos.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Al shot him a pointed look, eyebrows furrowed. He was a patient man, but his patience was quickly running out for the cop sitting beside him.
“They’re not as fast as men or as strong. What can they do except write tickets? I mean, the only women cops I know are secretaries in the ivory tower or some other cushy desk job. Not real police.”
“Well Platt is real police. Maybe you should partner with her for a day and see where it gets you.”
“It might get me dead,” Jacob said with a scoff as he got out. “My old partner nearly shot me on accident. She had the worst aim.”
“How does that even happen?” Al replied, shaking his head.
“Bullet ricocheted during a shootout.” He pushed the shirt from his shoulder to reveal a recently healed bullet wound. “Three inches to my right, it would’ve hit my jugular and I would’ve bled out before I could get help. The doctors said I was lucky.”
Al looked over Jacob, but nodded. “I’m glad you’re okay, but that doesn’t mean all women are like that.”
“My last three partners were women. They were nitwits.” He sighed and shook his head. “Come on, I’m hungry.”
Al followed Jacob into the diner and they sat down, both ordering lunch.
As they were eating in silence, the radio came on, calling them to back up another unit nearby. Alvin took another big bite of his burger and some fries, then put some cash on table. “Let’s go.”
Jacob groaned, also shoving as much as he could in his mouth and wiping his face, walking quickly out with Al and getting into the squad, speeding toward the scene.
Hank and Trudy were on scene when they arrived, guns drawn as they watched the front door of a house. Al and Jacob got out, going to take cover with their own guns drawn. “What the story?” Jacob asked, looking to Hank.
“Guy we were chasing pulled a little girl off the street and holed up in that house. It’s abandoned, I checked with dispatch.”
“Where’s the mom?” Al asked, peeking around the car to look at the house.
“She’s down the street with another unit,” Trudy chimed in. “The guy pushed her down and she hit her head. We gave chase.”
“Alright,” Al said, nodding. “You guys on the front, we’ll cover the back.
“Let’s go,” Hank said, nodding and moving with Trudy around one side of the car.
Al and Jacob moved around the other side together, splitting to move along each side of the house, and coming to the back together. They stepped up onto the back porch, Al radioing. “In position.” The two of them, guns drawn, stood on either side of the back door.
“Chicago PD!” The two heard Hank’s voice echo from the front of the house. “Let the little girl go!”
“I want a car and ten thousand in cash!”
Al and Jacob glanced to each other, then Al reached for the doorknob. The voice didn’t sound close to the back, so Al carefully turned the knob and opened the door, silent as Jacob entered through the back. The two made their way silently through the back of the house, clearing the back rooms as Hank negotiated with the man.
“Buddy, listen. I’m going to open the door. I need to see the girl alive before I can make any promises.” Hank put his hand on the knob, looking at Trudy, who nodded. “I’m opening the door now.” Hank opened the front door, peeking around the frame and inside. The man stood with the small girl in a headlock, a gun to her temple. “Hey there, sweetie. My name is Hank, and this is Trudy, okay? Just stay calm.”
“O-Okay…” The little girl trembled in his arms.
“You’ve seen her. Now I want ten thousand and a car!”
“Alright, okay,” Hank replied, his voice calm, holding a hand out. “I’ll get you what you want, but it’s going to take some time. I have to call my Sergeant out here to approve it.”
“Just give me your squad keys then and all the cash in your wallet.” The man was frantic, and it showed. Al and Jacob came up behind him, taking cover behind a doorway.
“Alright, fine, but you’ve gotta let the girl go. Once I have her, my partner will toss you the keys.”
“No! Keys first or she dies!”
Hank looked to Trudy, ducking behind the doorframe so he couldn’t be seen. “If you toss the keys, he’s going to have to let go of her,” he whispered.
“We can’t toss him the squad keys, Hank.”
“They’ve got GPS,” he whispered back.
“O’Neal is going to kill us.”
Hank shrugged. “If it saves a little girl, then I’m alright with that. Aren’t you?”
Trudy nodded in reply, then pulled the keys from her pocket with her free hand. “Alright, I’m going to toss them,” she said, peering around the frame and nodding to Al and Jacob.
Al nodded back, and when Trudy tossed the keys, Jacob sprung into action. When the man let go of the little girl, he pulled him back by the neck in a headlock. Alvin ran over and scooped the little girl up, shielding her from the man and running out the front door, not stopping until they were behind the squad car. The man was strong and had fast reflexes, pushing back into Jacob and throwing him against the wall. Jacob dropped his gun and got the breath knocked from his chest.
Trudy and Hank ran in after Al was clear, the man shooting at Hank, making him duck behind an inner wall for cover. Trudy, however, kept pushing forward, grabbing the guy’s arm and pulling it down, using her height and weight to pull it out of socket completely over her shoulder. The man dropped the gun and fell to the floor.
Hank picked up the gun and put it in his waistband. “Don’t move, or I’ll let her break more of you.”
Jacob panted, looking up at Trudy and Hank. He slowly got up, catching his breath. When he was coherent again, he nodded and walked over to Trudy. “Thanks, Platt. I guess I owe you.”
“You’re welcome.” She then picked the guy up as more units rolled up. “Come on, buddy. You’re going to jail.”
The man grumbled something beneath his breath, which Hank seemed to have heard, prompting him to push his knee into the man’s crotch. “Oh, sorry,” he said, clearing his throat. “I thought I saw him resisting your grip. Had to neutralize him.”
Trudy nodded, practically dragging the man out of the house now and into the back of her squad.
Jacob walked over, looking to Hank. “I didn’t realize Platt was real police.”
“Yeah, she is. I don’t hang around people who aren’t.” Hank cocked an eyebrow. “So, it begs the question. Are you real police? Or a wannabe cop with a bad attitude?”
Jacob looked to him. “I guess that’s up to others.”
“What I saw in there was real police. But real police don’t put others down, and they’re not sexist. I remember everything you said in the academy, and so does Trudy.”
“Look, I just… my last partners were women and they didn’t-“
“I don’t give a damn who your last partners were. You’re with us now. You either respect us or we’ll go after your badge. Hear me? We don’t tolerate wannabe cops with bad attitudes, especially toward other cops.”
Jacob looked at Hank, nodding slowly.
Meanwhile, Trudy was talking to Al outside. “Hey, Al, look, I talked to some of my friends in records. They dug up a few things on Logan. Turns out his mother was absent and his dad was an abuser. Makes sense, considering his attitude. I read a court transcript on lunch, and his dad said things like ‘women belong in the kitchen’ and ‘women are toys.’ The judge sentenced him to fifty years when Logan was sixteen. He stayed with his uncle after that, then joined the academy.”
“Explains why he’s sexist,” Al replied. “Doesn’t mean he has to be an asshole about it.”
“I know,” Trudy said with a shrug. “Turns out his last three partners were women. The first two filed complaints against him. During the third he filed for a transfer after getting shot, apparently on accident, from her bullet.”
Al nodded slowly. “I’ll talk with him. Maybe he just needs to be shown differently.”
“Maybe,” Trudy replied as Jacob and Hank emerged from the front door. Hank broke off to brief the field sergeant who had arrived.
Jacob came over, nodding to Al. “Are we all set to leave, Olinsky?”
“You alright? They have an ambo here. Maybe you should get checked out.”
“Just got the wind knocked out of me. No problem.” Jacob shrugged a little.
“Alright,” Al replied. “I already told the field Sergeant our side of the story so we’re all set.”
“Happy patrol,” Trudy said, nodding and walking away from them toward the Sergeant.
Al and Jacob moved into their patrol car, starting it and leaving the scene. Al looked to Jacob. “Platt is real police, you know.”
“Voight told me about it,” he replied with a nod. “I get it.”
“Good. Because I don’t care what’s happened to you in the past. It never justifies being mean to anyone, you understand me?”
Jacob nodded. “I get it, man. Lay off a little. I thanked Platt, didn’t I?”
“Just making sure you know that.”
Jacob nodded again and sighed, watching out the front window as he drove.
.
The two continued patrol, relatively uneventfully, until their shift was over. Then, they turned in their keys and went to the locker room, both changing back into civilian clothes. Jacob looked at Al. “Look, you don’t have to like it, but we’re partners now. I’ll transfer out in a few months, just bear with me until then.”
“I never said you had to transfer out,” Al said, matching his gaze. “I said you shouldn’t be such an asshole.”
“Well, I’m not, okay?”
“Then you need to prove it.”
Jacob sighed, closing his locker and grabbing his bag. “Nothing I say will convince you, will it?”
“Actions speak louder than words.”
Jacob left the room, shaking his head. Hank passed him on the way in, watching as he left, then looking to Al. “You piss him off?”
“Payback for how angry he made me today.”
Hank went to his locker, changing. “Hey, Camille and I are having a small get together tomorrow night. If you’re not busy, bring Meredith. I’m sure holding Justin will help with her state of mind.”
Al nodded. “Alright, we’ll be there.”
“Great,” Hank replied. “Trudy’s coming too, so bring some beer and we’ll let the three of them talk. You and I can sit on the back porch and drink.”
Al chuckled softly. “Sounds good to me.“
—
The next morning, Al was first to the desk to get the keys, getting their squad and settling in as Jacob got into the passenger seat. “Hey, morning. I brought coffee.”
Al looked to him and nodded, taking a cup from him. “Thanks.” He sipped it, then stuck it in the center console as he peeled his banana.
“Why are you always eating those? You superstitious or something?”
“No, but my wife is.” He sighed, checking his mirror, then pulling out onto the street. “Supposedly, oranges and bananas make you more fertile.”
Jacob snorted a laugh, shaking his head. “Who said that?”
“Baby Magazine.”
Jacob laughed again. “You guys trying to get pregnant?”
“Yeah. Meredith’s has a rough go at it.” Al shrugged a little. “It’s been discouraging for me and heartbreaking for her. It’s hard to see her like this.”
Jacob looked to Al. “I’m sorry, man.”
Al hiked his shoulders again. “That’s life.”
“I get it. Life’s kicked me in the ass too.” He mirrored Al’s shrug and the two of them fell silent as they patrolled through the community.
.
Later that afternoon, after making small talk most of the day, they heard a call over the zone for a robbery in progress. Al put on the sirens and sped toward the scene, seeing as they were only a few blocks away. Al and Jacob rolled up, Trudy and Hank also rolling up around the same time. The four of them moved together into the large department store, moving in sync to clear the aisles nearby the door. They instructed people to leave, asking if they knew where the man was.
People were pushing past them in droves, none of them getting a completely clear answer on where the man was, but they found out he had a gun. The four moved quickly through to the registers, guns drawn.
Jacob saw the man first. “There,” he said, motioning to the others as they caught his gaze. Trudy and Al moved around to flank him, their partners moving up the center.
“Chicago PD!” Hank called out. “Drop the weapon!”
The robber started shooting at them, making the cashier behind the register cry out and duck behind the counter.
Hank and Jacob each dove behind something for cover, then Hank peeked up as the man ran through the aisles. “He’s running! Al!”
Al, being the closest, gave chase to the man, the other three moving through the nearby aisles, trying to get ahead of him. The robber pushed some things off the shelves to try and stop Al, which did slow him down. Jacob picked up the chase as he emerged from the next aisle over. “Stop running or you will be shot!”
Al picked back up, running alongside Hank as they came behind Jacob, splitting to flank the robber. That’s when the robber stopped, turning and shooting at Jacob, who had no cover, as they were in the middle of the aisle. Three shots rang out, Jacob falling to the floor for any kind of cover.
Then, the robber fell to the floor as well, groaning. Trudy emerged from the opposite end of the aisle, kicking the gun away from the robber. “Hey, Logan, you alright?!” She ran over to him as Al and Hank came to watch the man.
Jacob panted, slowly sitting up and looking himself over, then nodding. “Yeah, I… I think I’m good. Thanks, Platt. I really owe you now.”
Trudy helped Jacob to his feet. “Alright, come on.”
.
After debriefing the Sergeant, the four of them left for the district. The ride back was mostly silent as Al and Jacob both recovered from the chase, replaying it in their own minds. After that, the two of them clocked out and left for the night, barely saying two words to one another.
—
Later that night, Al and Meredith walked up to Hank’s house, Al having two six-packs in his hand. Meredith knocked on the door, sighing as she looked at Al. “You boys really shouldn’t be drinking. I’ve heard it’s more likely to give your baby defects.”
Al sighed softly and looked to her. “I won’t have sex with you for at least a week, then.”
“Well, I didn’t say that,” Meredith said with a roll of her eyes, kissing Al’s cheek as the door opened.
“Hey Al,” Hank said with a nod and small smile. “Meredith, how are you?”
“Better now that I’m here. Where’s your baby, Hank?”
Hank laughed, motioning them inside and pointing to the living room. “He’s in with Camille. I was just finishing dinner. Trudy should be here soon.”
Meredith shrugged her coat off, laying it over Al’s arm, and took off her shoes, then all but running in to see Camille and Justin. Al hummed, handing one of the six packs to Hank. “Here, hold this.”
“I’ll take them both and put them in the fridge.” Hank did just that, taking both of them from Al’s hands and walking away to the kitchen. Al hung up his coat and Meredith’s, setting their shoes out of the way as well.
He went in to see Camille, and then Justin, who was only a few months old. He let Meredith and Camille talk, walking in to the kitchen to help Hank. “Need anything?”
“Nah, it’s all done. Camille has me trained.” He smiled, leaning against the counter. “Still having issues getting pregnant?”
Al sighed. “You don’t know the half of it.”
“Well, I’m sure it’ll happen. Just gotta be at the right time. You ever tried tracking the cycle and stuff? There’s doctors for that, I think. Wholistic healers or something?”
Al scoffed a little. “I don’t even know everything she’s tried. Sometimes I think she’s trying too hard and maybe it’s interfering more than it’s helping.”
Hank shrugged. “That could be.”
The doorbell rang, and Hank moved out of the kitchen to go greet Trudy, who immediately took to the baby as well, leaving him with a bottle of wine. Hank moved back into the kitchen, grabbing plates to set the table with as he set the wine on the counter. “Grab forks, Al?”
“Yeah,” he said softly, grabbing them from the drawer and helping Hank set the table. Then, Hank dished out dinner for everyone so that it would cool a little bit more on the plates.
“Baked ziti,” Al said, helping Hank distribute a breadstick to everyone. “Looks good, Hank.”
Hank smiled, looking to Al. “The one thing I know I can make without Camille’s help.”
Al matched his smile. “I hear that.”
Suddenly, another knock came to Hank’s front door. Hank stopped, furrowing his brow and walking toward the door, grabbing his gun on the way.
Trudy ran over quickly. “Hey, I invited a friend, it’s alright.”
Hank still kept his gun in hand, opening the door cautiously.
“Hey, Jacob,” Trudy said with a smile.
“Hey Trudy. Hi Hank,” Jacob said with a small nod. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He motioned to the gun in Hank’s hand. “I take it Trudy didn’t tell you I was coming?”
“It’s alright,” Hank said, nodding and setting his gun back down. “Welcome. I’ll get another plate for you.”
“Thanks,” Jacob said, stepping inside. “I, uh, I brought beer. I hope that’s alright.”
“Beer is good,” Trudy said with a smile, shutting the door behind Jacob as he took off his coat and shoes. “Let me introduce you to everyone.”
Hank came back, taking the six pack Jacob had brought and putting it in the fridge as Trudy introduced him to Camille and Meredith, as well as Justin.
Al looked up to Hank. “Trudy invited him?”
“Guess so,” he replied with a shrug. “As long as he’s not a douche, it’s fine with me.”
Al hummed in reply, helping with the last plate for Jacob. Then, Hank called them all to eat.
.
After dinner the three women returned to the living room with wine. Al and Hank cleared the table and started washing dishes. Jacob slowly got up, trying to help out the same. “Do you cook often, Hank?”
“Since Camille got pregnant and gave birth, I have been more often,” he said with a small shrug. “Just helping her out.”
“What about you, Al?”
“Nah, I can’t cook,” Al replied. “Burn it every time.”
“Gotcha,” he replied, helping to dry the dishes as Hank washed and Al rinsed. After a pause, he looked back up to the two. “I really appreciate you guys letting me stay. I know we got off on the wrong foot.”
“It’s all good,” Hank replied, nodding. “As long as you’re not going to be a dick anymore to Trudy or about her.”
“No, she… She’s not like the others. I shouldn’t have stereotyped her.”
“Damn right,” Al replied, looking to Jacob. “Trudy Platt is not like other people.”
“Hear, hear,” Hank said as he turned off the water, wiping his hands. “Come on, it’s a nice night. I’ll get the beer.”
Al, Jacob, and Hank all went to the backyard, each finding a lawn chair to sit in as Hank started a fire in the pit. They sat around it, drinking beer and talking about anything and everything.

Fight
Hailey upton x Rome Green-Upton
Summary: while Rome is undercover he get a call from torres telling him his wife was missing dropping everything he leaves and goes back to Chicago to help the team find his wife
Hailey was at her locker, packing her stuff, when her phone started ringing, making Hailey look at her phone with a small smile when she saw Rome's name. Rome and Hailey have been communicating, but sadly, not as much as they wanted to.
"Hey," Hailey said as she answered her phone. She grabbed her bag and walked out of the locker room. "Hey!" Rome said, sounding tired. "You sound tired," Hailey said, causing Rome to chuckle a little. "Yeah, I am, but how is the training going? Is it helping you sleep?" Rome asked, knowing that Hailey had been having trouble since he and Jay left. He felt guilty that not long after Jay left he had to go undercover, which he didn't really have a choice of.
"Not really," Hailey said with a sigh as she reached her truck. "I will be home soon, before you know it," Rome said. "I know," Hailey said. Rome went to say something but was cut off when he heard knocking on his door. "I've got to go," Rome said, sitting up. "Me too; I'll talk to you later tonight," Hailey said. "Night," Rome said, hanging up.
Rome didn't know that after that call, after a few hours, Hailey went missing.
~~~
A day later
Hank walked into the tech room, where the team was sitting. "All right, tell me we've got something we can use." Hank said, stopping behind the chair and looking at the screen. "The footage is too grainy to make out much, except for the stats of our offenders." Trudy told Hank There's no sign of the offenders' vehicle in the footage, and there are too many blind spots on PODs. I mean, I can't follow them." Kim spoke in a stressed tone. "OK, what about him, the victim?" Hank asked and pointed at the screen. Kim zoomed in, saying, "That's not enough, not for facial rec." kevin said
"All right, then her car, cell towers, witnesses, and forensics." Hank said he was walking to the other side. "We've got nothing we can use, boss." Adam said as Dante walked in. "I think I got him. I pulled Upton's cell records," Dante stated as he reached the others. "The last incoming call was from a phone registered to Lee Byers," Dante said, handing everyone Lee's file. "The duration of the call was two minutes, and then minutes later, her phone was off. Multiple priors for drug possession. He was arrested six years ago by Jay Halstead and Rome green. Two days after he got pinched, all three charges were dropped." dante continued
"So Halstead and Green flipped him." Hank said, "Guy's a CI." Hank added, holding the folder up. "Upton must have taken over as his handler; she was meeting him for a tip, and one of them was followed." Trudy said, putting the dots together, "All right, so get his phone dump, grab his CI file, run everyone this guy ever informed on, met, talked to, or ever walked by." Hank said, and the team started to move around. "We got an LKA on this guy?" Hank asked Torres. "He lives with his girlfriend, Jessica Owens, down on Humboldt." Dante answered
"Search her place. Bring her in." Hank said he was making the team, but Dante stopped. "Should we call Rome?" Dante asked, making the team stop and look at Hank. Hank turns around and nods his head.
~~~
Rome had been undercover for months, and he was starting to get tired of it. He missed Hailey and his team, and all he wanted was to be with Hailey. What sucked is that Rome was only 2 hours away, but he was dealing with a really dangerous situation and didn't want to put her or the team in danger, so he kept away.
Of course, they talked when he got to his apartment.
Right now, he was at the bar working to get more information when his phone rang. He saw that it was Dante. "I've got to take this," Rome said, not letting them answer, knowing that if Dante was calling something wrong, Rome would answer the phone. "What's wrong?" Rome asked with a worried tone, "Hailey is missing," Dante said, making Rome freeze for a few seconds. "I'll be there soon," Rome said. "Okay," Dante said, and they hung up.
1 hour later
Rome got to the district, rushed in, and saw Trudy waiting for him. Rome mumbled a hello before rushing upstairs to see the group, minus Hank, who was in his office waiting for Rome to arrive. "We've got anything?" Rome asked as the group turned around and looked at him as Hank walked out of his office. "No," Kim said, sadly shaking her head. Rome closed his eyes and sighed before opening his eyes and looking at Hank. "What happened?" Rome asked. "She went to meet Lee Byers when they were taken," Kevin said, making Rome look at him. "Lee Byers?" Rome asked, and Kevin nodded his head. "We have his girlfriend in interrogation," Dante said. Hank walked to Rome. "Let's go," Hank said, walking toward the interrogation room.
Rome and Hank walk into the room. Rome sets a picture down. "That's your boyfriend right there," he says, sliding the picture towards her. "In case you're wondering why you haven't seen or heard from him,He was abducted last night," Hank said, causing Jessica to look up at Hank.
"Did you know that?" Rome asked, leaning against the wall. "No, I did not know that." Jessica said, slightly shaking her head ."No?" Rome asked. "Then why won't you talk to my “officers?Hmm?" Hank asked, sitting in the chair. “You won't give them access.to your phone, your tech.You won't even answer a basic question.Why not?" Hank asked."Because I don't want to be involved." Jessica said, "You already are," Rome said.
"Involved in what?Do you know why he was taken?" Hank asked "No," Jessica said."Do you know who took him?" Hank asked "No," Jessica said, causing the room to be silent for a second."You're lying to us." Rome said, walking to the table, pulling the chair out, and sitting down."I'm telling the truth," Jessica said. "Then answer my questions." Hank started "What is Lee into?Why would he be followed?beaten, and abducted?" Hank asked Jessica, but she didn't answer.
“OK, let me explain something to you.Lee wasn't killed.He was taken.You know what that means?That means they want something from him. "Our guess?" Rome said. "They are going to hurt him until they get it." Hank started "Now, what is Lee involved in? You want him to be hurt?" Hank asked “I'm not trying to hurt him. I just don't know anything.Look, he's an addict. I got him clean, but this would not be the first time. Then he relapsed,and did something stupid. But that's not on me. I have no idea who would have taken him." Jessica said, causing Rome to glare at her .
~~~
Lee looked at Hailey tiredly. "You know, Rome always talked about you." Lee started, causing Hailey to stop what she was doing. "Yeah, I would ask how the wife was doing, and he'd just have the biggest smile on his face." Lee said with a small chuckle, causing Hailey to smile a little.
Lee stopped talking. "Hey. you still with me?" Hailey asked as she looked over, seeing Lee's eyes closed, "You've got to keep your eyes open." Hailey added that she was trying to break the other support bar but stopped when she heard the guys coming back, making her turn her head to the door.
"That can't have been an hour," Hailey said, moving to sit by Lee. "OK. We're going to do this nice and clean. OK? You got it. You know what to say?" Hailey asked, "Yeah." Lee said as the two men opened the door and walked in.
"Hour's up. Where's my money?" Mark asked, "He's going to take you to it." Hailey said, slightly nodding towards Lee, "I hid it." Lee said, "OK. Where?" Mark asked, "He's going to take you to it." Hailey said, "That's not what I'm asking." Mark said, getting irritated now, "Where is my money?" Mark asked again. "I hid it in a safe place, downtown. I'll take you to it." Lee said it tiredly.
Mark looked at Elijah, causing Elijah to look at him. Mark pointed the ax at Hailey and said, "Grab her." Mark said Elijah walked toward Hailey and said, "No, no, no! He's gonna take you." Hailey shouted as Elijah came closer, "No, no! No, no, no, no, no, no!" Lee shouted, "He's going to take you to it!" Hailey yelled
"No, no, no! She doesn't know where the money is." Lee shouted as Elijah lay hailey on the ground, "No, no, no! Please! We're going to get you the money. We're gonna take you to it." Hailey yelled terrified, "Don't hurt her!" Lee yelled again. "She doesn't know where the money is!" Lee shouted, causing Hailey to look at him for a second before looking back at Elijah. "Please! Please! Look at me!" Lee yelled, trying to get their attention.
Mark walks over to Hailey, looking down at her. "So do you want to keep your right hand or your left?" Mark asked, "Please! Please! Don't hurt her! Look at me! It's my fault! It's my fault!" Lee shouted, "I have friends who have money. We'll get you the money." Hailey said loudly, "Do you want to hear her beg, Lee?" Mark asked slightly, looking at Lee, "I can't help. Please! Please!" Lee begged, "Chop it." Elijah said, "Let's go with the right." Mark said, raising his ax.
"No, no, no, no!" Hailey yelled as she saw the ax come down, but I was stopped when Lee got up and shoved Mark away from Hailey, causing Elijah to tackle him into the wall. Mark pins Hailey to the ground as a gunshot goes off, causing Hailey to look over. Lee slowly slides down the wall with wide eyes.
"What the hell? What were you thinking?" Mark asked as Hailey crawled over to Lee, putting pressure on Lee's wound. "He was going to shoot me!" Elijah yelled at Mark.
"You idiot!" Mark yelled, hitting Elijah's arm. Elijah hit Mark back. "He fell on me! He was going to shoot!" Elijah yelled. "He had one hand!" Mark yelled out as he left the bathroom. Hailey gazes into Lee's eyes and says, "It's OK. It's OK." Hailey said "I'm sorry." Lee said, meeting Hailey's eyes, "It's OK." Hailey reassured, "She spent it." Lee said, "What?" Hailey asked, "It's all gone. The money's all gone." lee said His head falls down as he stops breathing. Hailey stares at him.
How are we going to get our money back now, huh?" Mark asked, looking at Elijah, "You idiot!" Mark said, snatching Elijah's gun from him, "What did you want me to do?" Elijah asked Mark to turn to Hailey. "Get up!" Mark said loudly, "He's dead." Hailey said, taking her hand from his wound, "Yeah, I can see that. Get up," Mark said as Hayley slowly got up.
"I know where your money is." Hailey said, looking at Mark, "No, you don't." Mark said, "He told me. We were trying to both stay alive, so we were going to take you to it." Hailey said, "You're lying to me." Mark said, "I'm not." Hailey said, "Tell me where it is then, or..." Mark paused and looked down at the gun. "I'll shoot you right here, right now." Mark said, "No. You'll shoot me as soon as I tell you." Hailey said, looking at both the guys, "He stole it for his girl. I know where she lives. I'll take you, and you can let me go." Hailey said Mark walks closer to Hayley, towering over her. "How about I just beatt it out of you?" Mark said, "That's worked well so far." Hailey said, looking at Mark with a deadpan look.
~~~
Rome sits on the bench in the locker room, looking at a photo of him and Hailey. Rome blames himself for Hailey getting kidnapped. Maybe if he was still working here, it would have been him, and he was okay with that. He wished it was him instead of Hailey. He was taken out of his thoughts by a soft knock on the locker, causing him to turn around to see Kevin. "Hey man," Kevin said, giving him a nod. "Hey," Rome said softly "you okay?" Kevin asked, although he already knew the answer. "No, but I will be," Rome said as his phone rang, making him look at the contacts, then turning his phone off and putting his phone into his pocket. Rome looked at Kevin.
"It's my handler trying to reach me, but I'm not going to answer until I know Hailey is safe," Rome said. "It's not your fault," Kevin said, leaning against the wall. Rome scoffed at that, not believing him. "That should have been me, not her; Lee is mine, and Jay CI," Rome said, standing up angrily. "If I didn't have to go undercover, I would still be here working in this unit, and Hailey would've been here and okay." Rome yelled, and Kevin knows he is not yelling at him; he is angry and worried, as everyone was. "It's not your fault," Kevin said softly, causing Rome to look at Kevin, but before he could say anything, Dante walked in with Hank behind him. "We've got something One of them popped at a traffic cam two blocks from an abandoned motel. He used to work there.” dante say as all four of them walk down the hallway
“The place is empty?” Hank asked “Set for demo in two weeks. She's gotta be there.” dante said as they walked into the bullpen Kim handed Rome his jacket and they set off.
~~~
The team gets to the motel, all getting out of their cars and jogging towards the motel. Rome, Hank, and Dante stopped at door number six while Kevin ran to another door. "Go!" Hank said into his radio. "Copy," Kim said, causing Adam to kick the door. "Chicago PD!" Hank yelled as he kicked the door open. All three of them stormed in to see no one until they reached the bathroom.
"Body!" Hank yelled, causing Rome to rush in, but let out a relief breath when he saw it was not Hailey Dante rush in. "It's Lee." Dante said when he saw who it was. Hank crouches down, examining everything. "Where the hell is she?" Dante whispered. Rome looked at the body; some caught his eye in the blood. "Home" was written in it. "Home!" Rome said, rushing out of the motel room. "She's taking them home," Hank said, standing up and leaving the bathroom with Dante behind him. "Get a BOLO out of Mark's other vehicle. Let's go!" Hank spoke into his radio as he left the motel room.
~~~’
Rome and Hank were sitting in Hank's car in front of the apartment building. "All right, everybody stay low. We got anything?" Hank asked into his radio "The back is clear," Kevin said, looking around. "All clear on the east end." Adam said "All right, just stay back. Stay hidden We’re going in." Hank reported to the team as he and Rome stepped out of the car, looking around, pulling down their jackets, hiding their guns and badges, and walking over the railing towards the apartment.
~~~
Hailey in a truck has her hand tied up behind her back and tape over her mouth she bends her knees toward her face getting her hand from behind her back to infront of her she takes the tape from her mouth and brings her hand up the metal bar inside of the trunk rubbing the zip ties on it after a few second the snapped apart. Hailey searches the trunk for a way out
~~~
Rome and Hank walk out of the apartment building. "Does anybody have eyes?" Hank asked into the radio, asking the team. "Still nothing. All clear." Adam responded, shaking his head. "Come on, Hailey, where are you?" Rome whispered to himself. Hank looked at Rome, "They should have been here by now." Hank said, as his other radio went off, "5021, you got your ears on?" the dispatcher asked.
Go for 5021," Hank said as Rome looked up. "Be advised of your BOLO hit. " The camera spotted the vehicle westbound on Fullerton at Ashland two minutes ago." dispatched said, "Copy you." Hank said, "That's only six blocks." Rome said he was picking up his speed. "That's only six blocks out, but they're heading the other direction. Let's go!" Hank said to the radio that his team was rushing to catch up with Rome.
~~~
Hailey feels around the trunk. She presses on a carpet panel. She rips away the edge to see inside the car. Hailey pauses, looking around, before looking down at her sweatpants. She pulls the drawstring from them and wraps it around her knuckles. She pushes the trunk access door down, crawling into the backseat.
There's an entrance to a park about five miles up." Eli said, "It's secluded." Mark said as Hailey fully got out from the trunk, wrapping the string around Mark's throat and choking him, causing Mark to let go of the wheel to the string. They drive off the road into a patch of dirt, barely missing a tree. Eli tries to reach Hailey, causing her to kick him. Mark still has his foot on the gas, making the car go faster. "No! No! No! No! No!" Eli yelled, "See the concrete wall, hailey ducks!" as they hit it.
Eli lays halfway out of the car hood covered in blood as Marl passes out laying on the steering wheel. Hailey stirs awake in the back seat; she crawls half of her body from the trunk, sitting up half way, groaning as she looks at the men unconscious. She reaches for the car handle. She struggles a few times before she finally gets it open. She crawls out of the car on her hands and elbows. She groans as she full-on reaches the ground and starts to crawl but is stopped when Mark pulls her back to the car, flipping her over. He gets on top of her, wrapping her hands around her throat. Haley fights, trying to get him off of her. She turns her head to the right and sees a broken piece of Mark's car. She grabs it and stabs it into Mark's throat, blood splattering on her face as he falls off of her. Hailey coughs as she finally breathes. A cop car pulled up. "Chicago PD! Ma'am, are you OK?" A female police officer yelled, "I'm police!" Haley yelled, still lying on the floor, looking up at the sky.
The team gets there to see Hayley on the floor. Rome jumps out of the car before Hank can stop it. "Hailey!" Rome yelled. Rome reaches Hailey, who crouches down gently, grabbing her hand and saying, "Hailey, can you hear me?" "Rome," Hailey said, closing her eyes.
~~~
Hailey was sitting at the edge of the hospital bed as Rome came in with clean clothes for her to change. "Hey," he said, which made Hailey break out of her thoughts and look at him with a small smile. "Are you sure you want to leave?" Rome asked, handing Hayley her clothes. "Definitely," Hailey said as she stood up, grabbing her pants and pulling them up over her gown. "I'm sorry, Hailey," Rome said, causing Hailey to stop grabbing her shirt. She looked at Rome, confused. "For what?" Hailey asked, confused, as Rome walked closer. "For not being here, I wanted to be here. I really did, but I couldn't. I should have been. This wouldn't have happened if I were just here," Rome said. "It's not your fault," Hailey said, pulling Rome into a hug. Rome hugged her back, kissing her shoulder, and they just stood there.
~~~
Rome took Hayley back to the district and said, "I'll be up in a few; I've got to call my handler." Rome said, leaning against his car. Hailey nodded and walked away. Hank walks into the bullpen to see Hailey sitting at her desk. What are you doing? I thought you were staying at the hospital tonight." Hank asked, "Uh, I had Rome bring me back here." Hailey said, "They didn't want to keep you." Hank asked, "They didn't need to. I'm fine. The team was crowding the hospital, and Rome needed to talk to you, so I just came." Haley said, causing Hank to nod, "Where is he?" Hank asked, looking around, "Outside, talking to the handler, but anything on Jessica?" Hailey asked, causing Hank to shake his head.
"Does the doctor say you're allowed to drink?" Hank asked, putting his finger up and showing a little bit. Hailey smiled, causing Hank to smirk and chuckle as he walked to his office.
Hailey and Hank sit and talk. Hailey rests her head on her hand. "The rest of the evidence we got off of Jessica's WhatsApp. She had multiple accounts. And Lee was hooked on one of them. But that's where they planned it. As far as I can tell, the robbery was her idea. She definitely pushed him to steal the cash. Hank explained, causing Hailee to scoff and shake her head. "Is she admitting to it?" Hayley asked.
hank scoffed "No, she lawyered up." Hank said, "But... I mean, we got her." Hank said, nodding his head. "Lee did it for her." Hailey said "Mm." Hank hummed "He wouldn't give her up, not even to me." Haley said, leaning against her seat, as Rome came upstairs with a sigh, rubbing his face. Hank looked over to see Rome. "Hey, want some?" Hank asked, raising his glass up. "Yes, please." As he reaches them, he leans against Adam's desk. Hank poured some for Rome, handing it to him. "He's mad?" Hailey asked, "Oh, he's pissed." Rome said, taking a sip, "When do you go back?" Hank asked, "I don't," Rome said as he drank the rest in one gulp. "What do you mean?" Hailey asked as Rome put the glass down. "They're coming here to Chicago," Rome said, looking at Hailey and then at Hank.
Trudy Parenting Spider
SOOOOO here are some random thoughts I had about Trudy figuring out parenting and she's going to go about it!
I 100% think that she just barely sees a tiny Spider outside, somehow having breached the airlock on his own. His little cheeks are puffed out and he's holding his breath and she realizes that this kid is going to be an absolute menace to her heart and his own safety. So when he's finally allowed to go outside because he can fit into an exopack, she fashions a kiddy leash or something for him because she just knows if she doesn't watch him for a second he'll go bounding into some cranny or another and get himself eaten by a palulukan or something. The Sully kids think the leash is hilarious but Jake having Lo'ak as a rascal and Kiri who just randomly wanders off something totally gets it and applauds her decision. He can't get Neytiri to agree to one for the kids though.
Trudy couldn't help but coddle the kid in Spanish when he was a kid so he used to go around as a toddler mixing up English and Spanish as a toddler, then eventually English, Spanish, and Na'vi. As soon as she decides she whole-heartedly taking this kid as her responsibility, she decides to teach him Spanish. Spanish becomes a language that connects just the two of them and it creates a tight bond between the two. Spider thinks Spanish curses are funnier than English ones so he'll randomly curse in Spanish under his breath and Norm will be like "I don't know what that means, but I know it isn't appropriate, young man!"
I think Trudy's go-to when addressing Spider is "Kiddo", followed closely by "Bud" or "Buddy", "Rascal". I have to assume she uses some Spanish terms of endearment as well, but I'm not as well versed in those seeing as I'm not Hispanic (though I do get looked up and down and immediately get spoken to in Spanish most of the time so I'm flattered). I think she'd try to stay away from terms like mijo (my son) for a bit because she's unsure whether she should be putting some that distance between them or simply doesn't want to encroach on his feelings about his mom, but at some point when he's older it kind of slips out and Spider almost cries (he totally does and Trudy does too).
I think she would probably sit and watch Grace's video logs with him or with him and Kiri when she joined in because Spider's a voracious learner and he loves watching Grace talk about the biology of Pandora and its interconnectedness. Trudy learns a lot about Pandora in this way as well, and she misses Grace a lot while she's watching them.
Like I think I said in a previous post, I think she definitely helps Spider prank the scientists here and there and they both run away from the aftermath laughing maniacally.
Once she realizes how much Spider wants his height to be measured like the Sully kids, she totally carves a pole out of some fallen wood and sets it up in the room that they share and starts marking his height and cooking him whatever he wants when she sees he's grown taller.
I imagine they share a room mostly because there probably aren't that many rooms to go around and when Spider was little and after the McCoskers, she wasn't okay with leaving him alone at night and neither was he okay with being alone. I think eventually, if the construct of the base allows for it, they would have like knocked a wall down or something and expanded the room for both of them, maybe drawn a curtain in the middle for some semblance of privacy.
In my characterization of Spider (which I revealed in the latest installment of my Spider Chronicles fic) Spider is a great artist and he's been drawing since he was little so Trudy definitely has like the biggest collection of Spider's drawings and keeps his old sketchbooks and stuff. She notices that a consistent topic of his drawings is Kiri and she only gets portrayed more and more beautifully as he gets better, and she thinks it's hilariously adorable. She worries a bit for him and his love for the Na'vi girl with him being human and all, but at the moment they're too young for it to matter and frankly she's not quite sure what to do about it, so she just teases him about it every now and then.
Trudy would definitely teach Spider how to pilot her kestrel, and one of his favorite activities with her since he was little was flying with her. He becomes better than Norm at piloting eventually which he doesn't cease to remind him.
I think Trudy knows what it's like as a kid to not really get much physical affection from your parents and being touch-starved and she recognizes the signs in Spider almost immediately. It's a lot worse after the McCoskers who didn't even speak to him, let alone hug him, so she starts communicating to him as best (and awkwardly) as she can that it's okay to ask for hugs or to hold her hand, or just generally ask for anything he needs from her. He doesn't really go for it at first and never initiates anything because he doesn't want to be a burden so she changes tactics and just kind of demands physical affection from him like, "hold my hand" or "Spider, I need a hug" , and he slowly gets more comfortable with just grabbing her arm or holding his arms out for a hug or just generally wanting to be held.
I think Trudy's always worried whether she's doing a good job for this kid or if she's missing something vital so she does watch how Neytiri and some other Omaticaya parents interact and handle their kids and like actually takes notes. Neytiri's really unnerved by her less than subtle staring until she sees her notes one day or something and is endeared. She tells her she can just ask her whatever questions she has in like a very tsundere way.
If you guys have any ideas or asks please let me know! I finally figured out how to add the ask me questions button online so hopefully that's there for you guys.
My 1x3 cpd rewatch notes
I'm rewatching all of cpd and making notes on it as I do so to type up afterwards for y'all. It'll just be basically my reactions and thoughts during the rewatch but I thought some of you might appreciate them.
The hooker and wife storyline is so ridiculous and unnecessary.
Adam trying to get out of his engagement party my sweet summer child do you not think this is a sign
Al deserved to go to an engagement party of Adam's :(
"The married one who lives in his garage"
Also it's so cute he didn't want Al near Wendy because of those optics but it's those things that Adam took and and made him grow into the man he is now.
Lindsay sassing Jay I love her.
Really miss intelligence working like this together.
Adam my baby's first shoot out :(
The bullet holes in the door makes me feel so uncomfy
Kev and Kim my beloveds with Trudy.
Canon mention Kim has a cousin.
"I don't need to see a counselor" oh Adam darling.
"I don't need to wear pants but here I am" Al I hope you know just how much I adore you.
Antonio and Erin 💖
This episode is probably the last time Kim's mentioning friends out of pd.
Kev and the flight attendants oh my babe
Kim's ponytail is so cute and short
"Christmas" "what" "Christmas is the code word" - I miss this humour, over lapping convos.
Lindsay "are you kidding me" in front of the unit.
My poor Adam baby. "I'm fine" stop lying my babe.
Kim and Kev ❤️
Rocky Road 🩵🩷
Kelly remembering the “Rocky Road” conversation with Mouch and Herman. Reminiscing with his wife, how he has in fact become a different man now.
Stella was a few months along in her pregnancy. She was hormonal as expected and many cravings along the way. Kelly was a simple man. Plain flavours of things. With ice cream it was Vanilla or Chocolate. He was making his way home and stopped to get his wife a little treat. Stella was feeling stressed and anxious about leaving truck for the time being. Knowing it was best for her, the baby and their family. It will also help keep Kelly’s anxiety down. He was becoming a nervous wreck whenever she went out on a call.
As Kelly was scanning the ice cream selection in the grocery store. He couldn’t help but chuckle when he spots Rocky Road flavour. Kelly’s thoughts consumed back 7 years previous. When Mouch was having cold feet about marrying Trudy. Herman trying to settle him down and Kelly thinking how he was absolutely no help to the situation. At that point, he was Chicago’s bachelor ladies man. Kelly had been burned many times before. Never wanting to be his father. He had settled in on living his life with no monogamy. Laughing to himself, remembering what he said to Mouch.
“Rocky Road, That’s enough for you?”
7 years later. Kelly was a completely different man. When Stella came into his life, it all changed for him. Also, he couldn’t help but smirk remembering telling Stella he wasn’t a monogamous man when she offered for him to stay with her. Of course Stella being Stella. Telling him to relax and that she wasn’t asking for a ring or anything. The truth was. He had so many buried feelings for his now wife but he couldn’t face them head on. Always regretting that conversation. As he smiled and picked out a carton of Rocky Road…He suddenly became so thankful for where he was now. Married to the love of his life and expecting their first child. Kelly realizing, Rocky Road ice cream was a symbol of his life. Even back then a life he truly wanted but couldn’t allow those walls he had built up to come down.
As Kelly retuned back to the loft. Ice cream in hand.
“Hey babe. I’m home. I picked you up a little treat”
“Rocky Road, Oh babe. My favourite”
Laughing was all Kelly could do.
“Kelly. For the love of god. What is so funny?”
Kelly proceeded to tell his wife about the conversation between him, Mouch and Herman. What he had said to Mouch. Even how he offered up a escape plan. Telling her how Herman said over time the little things like ‘Rocky Road Ice Cream’ was enough and his wife would appreciate those little moments. How he couldn’t fathom at that time being with someone in that way. Marriage was a foreign language to him.
“OH. Kelly. My emotionally stunted man”
“Yeah. Yeah. I did feel that way. Up until you came walking into 51. It all changed for me then. I knew I was in serious trouble. It may of took us a bit to figure our feelings out but I always knew all the roads led back to you. You are the love of my life. So when I was picking out ice cream for my beautiful, pregnant wife and saw the Rocky Road. It brought me back to that time”
“I remember that time too. When I offered you to stay with me. You know as friends do for other friends, and the look on your face. Telling me you didn’t do monogamy. It’s almost like I was on bended knee, proposing to you. You were terrified.”
“I thought of that moment in the store too. Stella, that is one moment between us I have always regretted. I had so many feelings. I was terrified on acting on them. I knew what I felt for you but those walls were up so high, I couldn’t bring myself to have them come down. After that night, I was convinced I had ruined any chance of us happening. Boy, am I glad I was wrong”
“Kelly. I too had many feelings for you, long before we got together. I haven’t ever told you this before. It gutted me watching you with Anna but I also admired the love you had for her. You were her hero. Everything you did to try and save her. It was amazing to watch. Truthfully though, it broke my heart watching you with her. But when you lost her that hurt just as much knowing the pain you were in. I wasn’t around when you lost Shay. However, I know she was your best friend, your girl, your ride or die. When Anna passed away, it killed me, knowing the loss you have endured. “
“Stella. I did have love for Anna. I cared about her a lot. I wanted to save her. She deserved to have a great life. Even if the best case scenario had played out and I was able to save her, it would of never worked out”
“Kelly, what do you mean? You can’t know that”
“Yes I do. Because the love I had for her or any other woman for that matter has ZERO comparison to my love for you. I would of never been able to give myself to Anna whole heartedly because I would of been longing for you. When I was with Anna, as much as I cared for her. I still had deep feelings for you. Saving her was my priority so I was able to curb those feelings and have you as my best friend. If we are being honest, deep down I was in love with you. I hadn’t thought about my future with Anna. My main concern was saving her and allowing her to lead a life she so very much deserved. She was a beautiful, kind hearted woman and I felt so lucky to be in her presence and have the time I had with her. But YOU. It was always YOU. Losing Anna was hard. Losing Shay, I didn’t think I was gonna survive but I know losing you, I would not survive”
“Kelly, you are amazing. The way you open up to me is one of the many things I love most about you. I hate that you had to lose someone you cared for so deeply. But I’m so grateful to be your wife now. Because you are the love of my life. You always will be for eternity”
“Look at us now, Stella. After fighting the feelings for so long. Having walls up. Denying what we truly felt and wanted. Now, happily married and having a baby. This is everything I have ever wanted with the person I have always wanted it with.
“And it all started with Rocky Road”
Both Kelly and Stella, smiling and enjoying their Rocky Road ice cream.
Saturday, 10.19.2281 - 6:45PM
(Crackling static followed by the voice of a young woman) Alright, I think that's got it, it's recording. (She clears her throat, there is the sound of shuffling followed by the sound of a body hitting a mattress) My name is Lydia Burke, I am a Courier with the Mojave Express...at least judging by this delivery order the Doctor found in what was left of my old clothes. (A soft sigh is heard, followed by the sound of a striking lighter and soon after she can be heard a drag off a cigarette.) I was shot in the head, by some fucker in an ugly checkered suit and some 'Khans' as Trudy called them. I was unconscious for a number of days while Doctor Mitchell put my head back together. I awoke today, October nineteenth, at eight o'clock in the morning in the town of Good Springs.
After a modest assessment of my physical and psychological health, I was provided with my things and a vault-suit belonging to Mitchell's late wife and told to speak to Sunny Smiles at the Saloon here in town. She was able to walk me through some further tests of skill, and I traded my laser pistol, some drugs and assorted things to Chet in the General store for a Plasma Pistol as well as a recycling modification he had for it. I also managed to scrounge up a few fission batteries and convert them into ammunition for it. Not long after that is when I met Trudy for the first time, arguing with some asshole in body armor and demanding the town hand over some guy named Ringo or he and his boys would 'burn this town to the ground' before walking out. He shot me a glare as he did, and I happily introduced myself to Trudy while he made himself scarce. I must admit...it was hard to shake her hand when my shoulders barely come up over the bar, and she did laugh a little. Regardless of my short stature however, I managed to glean some information about my attackers as well as learn the location of Ringo. I met him, and after a somewhat tense stand-off we hatched a plan to get rid of Cobb the 'Powder Ganger' who had been yelling at Trudy and I set off to handle getting some support. Sunny was easy enough, she was just itching to take care of Cobb. Easy Pete was convinced by my explosives experience and Doc Mitchell provided a great deal of medical supplies. It was Trudy and Chet I needed a little help convincing, luckily I had a few magazines on making sales that helped me convince Chet and I was able to use a stealth boy I found to demonstrate the merits of a subtle approach to Trudy better than I could have otherwise. In the end it all worked out. (Silence follows for several seconds, only broken as she takes another drag off her cigarette.)
I killed a man today...it was quick, I don't think he felt anything, it was one of Cobb's gang. I had hoped they'd run once they realized they were outnumbered but this guy pulled out a stick of dynamite and I just...shot him...right in the head with a bolt of plasma. The results were haunting, his head came apart like a cracked melon and was burning but, that wasn't the worst of it. The worst was that the bolt caused a chain reaction, I'd seen it in a couple of the geckos and coyotes I'd killed before, his whole body melted into a viscous green goo in a matter of seconds. I froze up after that and everyone else mopped up the last of the gang. We didn't lose anyone, but Sunny took a round in the leg and was limping. (She sighs, the microphone crackles again as the pip-boy is shifted.) I came up here...to the Gas Station Ringo had been hiding in. They're still down there celebrating probably, and I'm drinking whiskey and smoking on a dirty mattress on the floor. They acted like I was a hero...like I'd done something amazing...and maybe I had? Maybe I was the only one who could've brought this town together to take down Cobb.... But I killed a man...and it was easy, like muscle memory...how many people have I killed but don't remember? Who was I before that bullet went through my skull and rearranged the seat of my very soul? Was I a monster...a killer? Or was I like the people here in Good Springs, just trying to survive in a world where that means that sometimes you have to kill a man without thinking. I don't know....I don't know who I was before. I am Lydia Burke, I am of sound mind and body, and I am...tired...I think I will finish this bottle of whiskey and have a bit of gecko steak and then I will go to bed. End Log. (A final crackle of static rises, and silence follows after.)
