I just realized that any time ive talked about the higher ups its always them doing something bad but not all the higher ups are bad so i think i will talk about them a bit (plus bonus of characters who SHOULD be higher ups)

Lemon!! chat i love Lemon, shes a mother of two and is married to another higher up named Sandy. This also means they are some of the only married ocs I have. Lemon has inspiration from the old kaiju paradise lemon shark, the sucker for love third date, and i believe some third thing i cant remember. Shes typically seen when the higher ups are called upon although i do believe she lives with the danganronpa ocs in that world. Lemon also very much enjoys the beach, often preferring it to be sunrise! Sandy! Shes actually a v1 taraka from dragon adventures and doesnt seem to have a human form. As u know shes married to Lemon :3. I honestly dont know much about Sandy due to her remaining very mysterious but I did used to have her in dragon adventures at some point! Although I do know she misses her son Lovebug, I bet Lemon also misses him.

Meka? Okay so shes reallyyy mixed when it comes to being good. She is very much at fault for why her love interest (Monitor Girl) killed herself but ya know. It does seem like after all the harm she has done to gain power she is trying to fix things. Shes also one of the older higher ups, with her origin world being the anime seven deadly sins (dont question any of these okay) although not many ocs remained in that group. I believe she went kinda like seven deadly sins -> danganronpa -> helluva boss anddd then stopped, well im lying shes moved to total drama but not with the total drama group but thats for another day. She is also one of the past sonas, they are past sonas for a reason. I dont think there are any other good current higher ups so its time for ocs who should be higher ups! Vete! Starting off strong with an oc from the total drama group i know but just trust me. Hes got strength comparable to the higher ups and honestly is in a much better mindset then most of them. Also him being a guardian angel + having a holy weapon is just very good overall. ALSO HE CAN HOLD A STABLE RELATIONSHIP. Unlike half of the higher ups... (calling out YOU, Star and Cosmo) デジタル��イガー !! Aka, Digital Tiger. She wasnt always a tiger but she ended up as one, also she left the danganronpa oc group to be the only oc for digimon! Also im going to be honest she is a lot stronger then Vete but id say shes around same strength as Lemon so its still fair. Also I just miss seeing her :( ??? ! Okay she doesnt have a name but shes the only battle cats oc I own. I remember before Dixie destroyed The Forgotten she was second in charge, meaning that she most likely has a lot of the skills needed to be a higher up. Shes also a rarer character to be spotted so it would be nice to see her more. I think there might be more but i dont know, so this is it for now :3

❤️ - what is one of your oc’s best memories?

URMMMMMMM. a lot of sae's best memories are really tame i think bhgfdghdfj just moments where she could sit back and say Yeah. I am Completely Happy :) BUT the BEST one i think is one she recounts a lot just bc she reallyyy felt like she had found peace. the fishing village near her afi's home holds a yearly festival for fisherman's day that she LOVEESSSS. and IF MY TIMELINE IS CORRECT she got an award i believe in 2012 (??) for her achievements and contribution to her community . and when the festival was over she got to have a long chat with her afi up on a mountain top overlooking the ocean and she holds that conversation very dear to her heart :]

✂️ - what is one of your oc’s worst memories?

(forgive me for being vague theres still a lot to be revealed in the rp hgdfjkggfdsjk!!) shes got a few but the WORST one she remembers suppperrrrr vividly just because everything seemed to happen all at once, the town she was living in was going through one of the WORST thunderstorms it had ever had, and she was seconds away from doing something SO rash . GOD awful day for a thirteen year old to have. BUT it was the catalyst for some major changes in her life, so while she would never go back and do that all over again sae can at least acknowledge that it switched what direction her life took DRASTICALLY. it led her to where she is today but that definitely doesnt mean she looks back at it with any sort of fondness gbhdgbsdf

🍎 - what is the oc's relationship w/their parents like?

her afi and amma were her legal guardians for the majority of her teenage years! and anybody within a five mile radius knows that she LOVES those guys. she takes so much influence from her afi particularly and holds him on a very high pedestal of how she should be behaving and what traits she should portray, just because he is an incredibly patient and wise man. her late amma also influenced her a LOT in terms of hard-work and dedication to others, and when she passed it only caused sae to work even harder to support her afi. not to mention sae truly considers her afi to have saved her life which means she feels she owes a LOT to him ghfdjkg

she doesnt speak with her parents!

💀 - does your oc have any phobias?

she isnt DEATHLY afraid of anything but she gets concerned over superstitious things that arent necessarily a problem to other people lmaooo. like for instance she does NOT fuck with bananas because they are considered terrible luck on boats. she rarely sails on thursdays, took the lucky charms off of her fishing hat and placed it around her waist just so the hat won't fly overboard again, never renames a boat, etc. ALL because she doesnt want to invite bad luck on her ship fghsjd

she's also really not a fan of loud noises!! thunderstorms have a tendency to freak her out but it really depends on the day honestly. catch her in a good mood and she can manoeuvre a boat through them easy peasy, catch her in a bad mood and she'll just sort of stare at the floor unmoving for a bit

🍩 - who is your oc's arch-nemesis or rival?

LMAO sae would never admit out loud that she hates anybody enough to consider them an arch-nemesis or rival. ESPECIALLY pre killing game. now does she dislike people? for sure. is this killing game definitely taking a lot of her pent up resentment and making it ten times worse? definitely

So jk and oc was dating or like in a situationship😳😳😳 I am sure there was a big reason for jk to leave considering he cant stop gravitating towards OC with the smallest of things. I can’t wait to see how he woes her and how their dynamic change. There is still sooo much plot unsaid and I am loving every bit of it! Thank you so much for updating. Your updates are soo small yet the story is sooo amazing. Thank you for writing 2 great stories at the same time. You’re the best❤️❤️

It’s the those damn three month situationships that really do you in tbh 😭 can’t blame either one of them for never fully getting over each other.

And there’s definitely a reason for Jungkook leaving her, which we will eventually learn, but perhaps Jungkook just knows she’s not ready to talk to that extent just yet. I was trying REALLYYY hard to just keep it fluffy and cute but I accidentally developed the plot too much and figured there was no use in fighting it lmao, I’m also excited to watch their dynamic evolve and change.

Especially now that their feelings are back on the table and they finally addressed the past- at least a little bit, we still have a long ways to go but I am excited to keep writing especially now that I reconciled the plot lmaoo

Feeling not that great lately so I took a bit of time to fill in this ship meme made by @/gibbarts for Vail x Lei! I have their ship name as Vailei (which is just me smushing their names together) but my friend has brought up Leil which is tempting just because it's fun to say... I think we'll stick with Vailei for now XD

I used some headcanons for this because NGL Vail doesn't have enough screentime in the canon campaign so I had to just fill in some blanks XD This is why he is also my OC now cuz I've made so many headcanons to fill in the blanks that he's prob a diff OC than the KP imagined XD

I realize their faces are kinda babey in this. That is because I did this in like 1 hr so it's very messy sorry. I still had a lot of fun filling this out and thinking about them <3 my OTP 🥺🥺🥺

Big spoon Vail / Little spoon Lei. They could def swap though but this is their usual formation if they're spooning. Little spooning is def by Lei's request but she'll big spoon him if she wants him to feel extra comfy!

Lends clothes (Vail)/ Borrows clothes (Lei) - This is self explanatory. I already drew Lei in Vail's hoodie. She really likes to "borrow" his clothes, as in, she'll wear them until they don't smell like him anymore and then return them to him XD. I do have this funny quote thing so I headcanon he steals her fuzzy socks. I'll draw that one day :3 But I also think it would be hard for him to borrow her clothes even if they're similar heights because he has a SIZ of 65 (muscle mass) and she has a SIZ of 50 which means she's probably built like a stick XD

Pet names - Vail seems like the type of person who calls people by their name/ what they want to be called. So he would prob call Lei "Lei" which is something she even requests at the end of the campaign! (Before he called her "Doc"). Lei is definitely into pet names though! In the cyberpunk universe she probably calls him "my love" 🥺

Introversion/Extroversion - this one was kinda hard NGL. Lei is def more introverted but she isn't suuuper "Ew people" cuz she is a doctor and forced to interact with people. Because Vail likes to talk/ramble, I put him as slightly more extroverted but he didn't have enough screentime so XD I couldn't confirm this theory. He didn't seem that open to talking with Liam in the campaign but it could have been due to lack of time who knows 😔 By comparison Vail is prob more extroverted than Lei at least.

Affection through words (LEi) / Affection through actions (Vail) - Lei is both LMAO cuz her love language is physical touch. But she also expresses affection through her words! This is especially true because if she doesn't like you she won't even bother talking to you. But if she likes you, she'll say sweet things to you/compliment you AND if she really really likes you she'll be physically affectionate! Vail is def an actions person XD I mean we're talking about the guy who bought her a cat for her birthday. I think sometimes she can feel a bit sadge if he doesn't verbally validate her/ have words of affirmation for her but they work with it 🥺

Confesses first (Lei) / Waits for confession (Vail) - THIS ONE IS CANON LMAOOO. Although the first time they hung out it was him who initiated, she has to make him ask her for dinner XD and then when she said it was date he was like ayo alright XD

Bugs - I feel like they're both capable of bug squashing so I put them around the same level... now I feel like if we want to dig into catboy vail his should be reallyyy far into it but I'm not changing it for now XD maybe in an updated one sometime down the line

Drives car (Vail) / can't drive (Lei) - this is also canon XD Vail drives around bikes so he has to be a decent driver, although I didn't see DRIVE in his invested skills according to the stats the dm gave me so like 🤔🤔 Lei has the base DRIVE of like 20? So I mean she can drive. But it's not great XD I would say she's just not very confident, esp in the slums where people speed a lot. She prob felt safer in the Middle district.

can't cook (Vail) / makes dinner (Lei) - Vail prob never had a chance to learn how to cook and he says "food in the slums generally sucks" XD But Lei is a good cook. I mean she cooks drugs so she has to be good at cooking food too (COPE). I just want her to be a good cook so therefore she is.

PDA - Lei likes PDA! She wants everyone to know who her man belongs to, but I think she'd be more like into handholding and clinging to him. The other stuff she prefers to do in private :3 Although she's def up to giving him cheek kisses here and there. Vail probably doesn't particularly mind, if it makes Lei happy :)

Overprotective / Chillgoing - THIS WAS HARD. Lei is def on the overprotective side, especially when it comes to her loved ones, she gets very desperate. But I mean I would imagine Vail would be protective if she were in danger. But overall he's supposed to be a chill dude so I imagine she's just chill. Like oh you're going to Prism HQ and killing some jerks? I'll come with <- maybe something like this LOL

Relationship experience - It is canon Vail has no relationship exp (like me frfr) but Lei's had 2 relationships in the past, so she has more exp than him.

(WARNING: NSFW IMPLIED) HORNY METER: I feel like they're quite similar in levels of horniness. I think mostly Lei has to initiate because Vail is shy uwu about those types of things. But once he's in the mood and the switch has been flipped... pray for Lei LOL. He will let her have control as much as she wants but if she wants him to dom... it's over for her XD a Runner and their stamina y'know... In my headcanons, he is secretly quite horny just never had the chance to express it. He is a young man after all 😔 But he has really good self control :) His willpower is 70. Lei was not supposed to be super thirsty but she is played by me so.... y'know... some stuff happened XD

AWKWARDNESS METER: Lei isn't super super awkward but there are definitely situations where she has no idea what to do, especially to circumstances that are new to her. For example, needing to learn how to do a runner's job XD that was hard for her. In highschool she was def much more awkward but she's grown out of her shell a little. In terms of this relationship, I imagine she gets awkward because she doesn't quite believe she's in a relationship with him XD (she'd be like "really? Are you sure you want me?" and he's like "yeah we had this convo last week") Vail is pretty chill so I think he's barely awkward. I imagine he's only awkward as he's new to this whole relationship business :)

JEALOUSY METER: Vail is not supposed to get jealous so hence why there's like nothing there for him. I would say he either 1) feels secure in his relationships + trusts Lei and 2) Would want the best for her so if she finds someone that makes her happier than him, he would easily let her go. Lei though... is much more insecure than he is. It's something that I would develop for her if she lives XD in the future, because she is slowly gaining confidence in herself! :) She is a capable woman, she simply needs to realize that. But yeah she's the type to get jealous, if she sees him with women who are prettier and younger than her. But she is lucky because he doesn't

Last Song: Scarlett Welly Boots by The Amazing Devil. It reallyyyyyyy fits two of my ocs and their relationship (plus another oc that is not mine). I just bite on it and chew so much. I love their messy relationship and how one is trying so hard, but the other one is so bitter about it.

But still, they are loved no matter what.

Good shit.

Favorite color: like a light turquoise, teal color! I've been associating that color a lot with me since i entered college, and it just stuck around!

Finding appreciation with pink, too. I've done her so dirty.

Currently watching: Blood Blockage Battlefront! An anime i got recommended and slowly going through. Also finished Ordem Paranormal Quarentena! It's an ttrpg that a friend found via minecrafters, and it's amazing. Both really cool!!

Last movie: uhhhhhh. I dont remember hfzjfxjxf. But I've been seeing clips of a movie named Revolting Rhymes! Thinking of watching that one soon.

Currently reading: I got. A lot. Of library books i need to go through but haven't started them at all. Kgxkhfxkgkxh. One i finished recently was Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia! Its really cool but also a horror/suspense book so watch out cause it gets reallyyyy fucked up.

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Sweet!!! Sweet will always win in my book. Savory is good and im finding new appreciation with spicy (because now i live more north and away from Hispanic foods and my gods i miss spicy shit despite not really liking it alot)

Relationship Status: Taken! Happily with one of my best friends who i love so much.

Current Obsession: uhhhh. I suppose Dreamscape rps? Yeah. It's a thing we've made with friends and has multiple plots going and i got so many ocs there and it's been a blast!! Sky Children of Light is also there but im wanning off obsession. I have been watching a lot of video essays about media so i guess that's something?

Might end up in ship making videos if im not careful.

Last thing I googled: Castle Interior. Was trying to get a better mental image of a location im writing about :D

Currently working on: rps and art! Got two art pieces in the wips and one i reallyyyyyy should start and finish before i got on a week long trip with no internet on Saturday x.x

1. Live folk music !!! Literally makes me feel like I've ascended. Any live music is great but as a Southerner I just loveee folk music to my core

2. Playing TOTK! I've never been a big video game person — mostly because in my little exposure, I've sucked complete ass at them — so I started out the game being very unsure and. Very ass. Now, I'm not even that far in; last week I had 10 hearts and hadn't even done my second Sage quest yet, and I beat the Lurelin Village monsters first try 👀 Building my confidence at video games has significantly helped me with feeling confident about myself in a general sense, which is great!

22. say 3 things about someone you love

OOH OKAY so there are a lot of things I could say abt him which makes this quite hard but:

1. He is so so funny his messages make me laugh out loud constantly

2. He always asks how I'm doing and always asks how something in my life went such as appointments etc. That may seem small to others but honestly it's very dear to me. It's a daily reminder that people see me and care <3

3. He just gets me. We get each other. We have the same taste in nearly everything. We're always saying the same thing at the same time. The most important thing, though, is that even when we don't agree on something, we step back and still understand the other's point of view. I really appreciate knowing that I have his acceptance regardless.

Definitely Boyhood by Birth Day. I go through certain periods of being obsessed with different music genres, except the current period is just Sign Crushes Motorist and his side projects... I'm always like, oh I want to expand a bit, what are some other artists that sound like him? And I'll think I've found somebody and it is once again the same guy LMAO. But yeah, his music and that song, specifically, are reallyyy tugging at my long dormant desire to make music. I've always tried and thought it was too hard but his stuff is so nice while also being so incredibly simple, so maybe I need to just give it another shot and not overthink it this time?

Soothing his palm over your cheek, which made you ultimately give in,Jimin moaned once given free reign of your mouth. Suddenly switching up the pace, his actions becoming more delicate as he tangled his fingers in your hair.

Smiling against his lips before pulling away, a slight hum leaving his lips as he cocked his head to the side, brow quirked in curiously. Rubbing slow soothing circles up your sides “ I found out it was confirmed almost 2 weeks ago….but things between us were still so new, and up in the air,so I didnt wanna make things weird by brining it up right away...” Palming your hands up his shoulders nervously,unintentionally fluttering your eyes away from him until you felt his index finger flick your chin. Silently demanding your undivided attention, and clearly you weren’t one to deny Jimin of any of his desires!

“Thank you..” Exhaled from your body shakingly, the grip you help around his waist tightened. As if he could read your mind Jimin switched gears, wanting to pull you out of that headspace. Ducking down to kiss up the side of your neck in between words.

“Soo you know this means I’m coming over tonight , and were having realy ,really kinky sex right? All night...high,nasty,sex! Jimin’s damn near melted at that, eyes beaming, the smile that spread across his face instantly eliminated any uncertainty you had prior! He’s been the one up with you as of late, at all hours of the night, just chillin on the couch. Smoking while your creating,editing, destroying, having mental breakdowns..the full nine!

Pulling your forward lightly by the chain around your neck, leaning in for one more lingering kiss before responding. “That’s why you were nervous?! Are you fucking serious Y/n of course, I’d go!” Tone indicating he was actually somewhat offended that you thought otherwise. “I’d be more pissed if I wasn’t at least invited...when is it?”

“Monnnn-day???” Tone hopefully, maybe too hopeful especially once you took in the look on Jimin’s face looking like someone just stole his damn bike! “What-what's..wrong?” You are very tentative at this point...almost scared to know the answer.

A deep exhale left his body at that, recling his neck slightly, raking his fingers though his hair “I-fuck...I was going to tell you at lunch, that I gotta leave tomorrow morning...” Pausing to read your body language , your mouth forming an unintentional “O” not sure what else to say! “I’m, not set to be back until... Tuesday….” Slowly dropping his gaze away from ours, Jimin literally felt naesous right now. Your body tensing under his hold and what made it even worse is he could feel it “Baby I’m so-”

“No, no it’s cool, it was supid anyway, were not even official yet so I can't be offended that you can’t go..you have a job too...I understand” Bullshit, nothing but bullshit, not even sounding remotely convincing as your voice wavered in your throat, like a leaf in the wind. “I-umm..I should probably get inside and prep-” Attempting to pull away but Jimin was always one step ahead of you.

“You still haven’t even eaten lu-”

“It’s fine, I’ll like grab grub hub or something..” Still trying to pull away, is it maybe because your eyes were bruning and even though you weren’t “Official” you felt like you’d just been knocked in the gut and wanted to cry?

“Okay...can I atleast pay for it?” Tone a second away from almost begging, of all the times for Jay to come around..it just fucking HAD to be now!!?

“No, no, Jimin it’s fine you don’t need to do that...I’ll ummm, call you when I get off okay??” Pulling away without a hug or a kiss, and more importantly you didn't make eye contact with him and that hurt more than anything else.

“Y/n!?”- Silence

“Baby!!?” - You could hear the slight plea within his voice but if you turned around he’d see you cry and you weren’t doing that! You told him you could handle this..you told yourself you could handle this!

“Fuck!” Growled from his chest as he raked his fingers through his scalp almost painfully hard.

Jimin knew he warned you, warned you that this wouldn’t alway’s fun, and you’d have to take the good with the bad! But fuck, did he warn himself!!!? Because he literally felt as though he was a second away from throwing up right now! The look on your face once he told you he wouldn't be here was burning through his mind on instant replay, as you walked away from him.

I don’t think I’ll really go into this but what I think would’ve happened was that those internet trolls (sorry I mean ex-classmates) would’ve found Jungkook’s Twitter through Namjoon’s and found the school he’s going to (probably he posted about it or he’s following the school’s Twitter). Which is also how the brutal ones are dm-ing him all that hate yk?

For Jaegguk: His name IS 재국 BUT I slightly went for the more romanized version of his name. Like yk how some army’s spell Jungkook as “Jeongguk”? It’s similar to that. Because depending on how the reader reads “guk” it can easily become “걱” instead of “국”, so the extra “ㄱ” insures more the “ook” sound ig. Tbh I just made him jaegguk to fit his Twitter username nfjdjfhdhd🤧

Now this one is tricky and I could probably write a whole essay on the formal and like more truthful implications of what 오빠 means. Truthfully and technically, 오빠 does mean older brother or anyone older than the female speaker… HOWEVER, there’s kinda like a flirty aspect to it… 오빠 kinda carries a similar meaning to “babe” or “baby”. kinda. It’s more like an very very very innocent version of “daddy” too ig. It’s kinda difficult to really express in a few lines the implications that 오빠 can have. But most the time, between friends, you don’t call the other person 오빠 unless you really think of them as a brother or you’re flirting with them. It’s like bro/babe in one word and you kinda have to figure out what that person means based on your relationship with them.

For example, I have a childhood friend that is 2 years older than me that I call 오빠, but we are 1000000% not dating. I’ve known this dude since I was a fetus and sang Dora the Explorer everywhere. There’s no way we’d ever date but we have a mutual respect for each other so I still call him 오빠.

However when I was first flirting/썸-ing with my ex-bf who was 20 months away older than me I started calling him 오빠. We called each other by names before but that quickly changed when we found a mutual interest in one another.

If you’re a girl and you meet an older guy that you’re legitimately gonna be friends with, you’d more likely call them [name]-ssi until you’d both agree to drop honorifics. When that happens you’d most likely call him by his name and if you start mutually showing interest then you might transition to 오빠.

It’s quite complicated and there’s some guys who tell you to “call them 오빠 because they think of you as a little sister” when in reality they’re flirting with you.

This turned out wayyyy too long, sorry.

In yn’s case I made her call JK “오빠” because she was making fun of him but she’s gradually showing interest in him. Plus, JK seems to hate it rn so it’s funny… ahhh the things I do for the crackfullness of my fics🥴

I should started a Korean-with-Minhee series or soemthing shfhdjdj but thanks for reading my very LONG explanation, I hope I didn’t bore you 😅

EDIT: The -ssi thing… hmm most of the tome the first thing people do is introduce themselves so they’re most likely to know each other’s names… Unless you’re like working with them in which they have titles like Director Kim that you’d refer to them by instead of [name]-ssi… So there really isn’t a situation that you wouldn’t use [name]-ssi. just like english, if you dont know their name: just ask😊

(Hello! First of all I’d like to say your advice is not annoying, in fact I reallyyy appreciate the feedback because Carter is YOUR oc and English is YOUR language! I have many favorite writers on here ((y'all so talented omg)) and you’re one of them! Second, I was thinking it would be so funny if a couple weeks after Happy and Quentin talked, Happy decided to help him feel included too because Quentin is just as lonely as Carter. And third, when you said having a friend would have done wonders for Carter’s mental health I took that into consideration, so her mood is better in this au even though she’s still scared/angry/grieving ;-;)

“Are we having fun yet?” Quentin asked, his voice monotone. “How can you not have fun playing UNO?” Happy replied. Carter giggled on her seat before dropping a red ’+2’ card at Quentin. The boy blinked and looked at her. “Traitor.” He muttered. He pulled out a ’+4’, and Happy let out an angry, annoyed groan before he picked six more cards. He dropped a blue ‘4’ at Carter. Carter dropped a yellow ‘4’ before Quentin added his own green '4’ with a bored sigh. “Do people really have fun with this?” he insisted, despite the fact that both Happy and Carter noticed that he was winning. Happy dropped a green 'stop’ card at Carter, skipping her turn. Her eyes widened. “Sorry, Carter.” Hogan said. Quentin pulled a green UNO reverse card, thus changing the orden of turns, letting Carter play. She grinned and dropped another card. “Beck!” Happy complained. “Green is the best color.” “You said magenta.” “I said green and magenta.” Quentin paused. “Also, I think you’re cheating.” Happy stood up from his seat. “I am losing. How can I cheat and lose?!” “I don’t know, you tell me.” Quentin shrugged calmly. Carter laughed as they bickered. Happy rolled his eyes and dropped all his cards on the table. “I’d love to play UNO with you some more, kids, but I have things I need to do.” He said before briefly patting Carter’s shoulder as a farewell. He left, and Quentin dropped his cards as well. “He’s just mad because I’m winning.” He explained, before pulling a pack of pills out of his pocket and shoving one in his mouth, swallowing it without water. Carter felt surprise and affection at the fact that he trusted her enough to medicate in front of her, and she smiled fondly. “You- you’re really good at- at UNO.” Carter said. “I am not. But I play to win.” He shrugged again. “Besides, I like games that make people get mad at each other. It’s the only thing about UNO that is not supremely boring.” Carter giggled again, before she heard the loud footsteps approaching. Her right ear was too used to paying attention to his footsteps. Before she had time to leave, Obadiah entered the common room where they had been playing UNO, and the few other scientists that were there as well checking their paperwork quickly got out of his way. It was too late for a young woman, however. “This should be done already.” Stane told her, pointing at the paperwork. “You should have finished it by now.” “I… I had to go home for a moment to check on my cat, he has been sick lately and…” she tried to explain. “Check on your cat?” Stane let out a bitter, mocking snicker. “A cat is not more important than Stark Industries.” “He… he is to me…” the woman was clearly angered by his words, but she was also scared. “I don’t give a fuck what is important to you. You are here to work!” He yelled. “Move!” The young woman quickly left with the papers, not before Carter and Quentin saw the tears in her eyes. Obadiah then walked up to another employee and hit him in the chest with a finger as he continued to criticize everything. “I think that’s morse code.” Quentin whispered. “What?” Carter blinked. “That thing he does. When he pokes people in the chest with his finger,” he said. “I think it’s morse code. Look at him! That’s morse code for I am the biggest piece of shit on Earth, probably.” Carter was too scared to laugh. She was having such a nice day, but deep down she knew it wouldn’t last. Good things would never last, at least not for her. Both of them got up when Obadiah raised his voice even more, now gripping the scientist’s lab coat’s collar. “Fucking bastard.” Quentin growled in a whisper. Carter’s first instinct was to hide behind him. She wasn’t sure why. She didn’t trust people, but Quentin made her feel safe. Even more so when, in response, he stretched out his arm in front of her, lightly pushing her further behind him. She clutched the fabric of his hoodie, feeling like a coward. The gesture made Quentin angry, but not with her. Shit, Carter, the things you don’t talk about…

“What the hell is that?” Obadiah asked as soon as she saw the UNO cards scattered across the table. “A game.” Quentin replied, his tone cold and bitter as he became more enraged the more he thought about Carter’s reaction to seeing Stane. “People generally play those when they want to experience something called fun. You wouldn’t understand.” As soon as Obadiah saw Carter hiding behind Quentin, he let out a loud snicker. “You’re friends with him, kiddo? Please. He’s delusional. He really thinks his stupid little brain can create something groundbreaking.” He tried to sound sympathetic. “You think he gives a shit about you?” “I do, actually,” Quentin snapped. “I know it’s shocking, but you can’t see through my stupid little brain.” “Do you know why you’re here, Beck?” “Here? Like, right here? Looking at you?” the boy shrugged. “The universe wants me to set fire to my eyeballs, I guess.” Stane’s face was slowly turning red, his natural reaction to realizing that he couldn’t control everyone. His natural reaction to dealing with Beck. “You’re here because people see potential in you,” he continued after taking a deep breath. “And they want to give you a chance to prove that you’re not absolutely fucking useless. But you don’t have what it takes, Beck, and soon everyone will realize that. You can study all you want, work on your project all you want, and pretend you’re not a loony all you want. But one day you will mess up, because you are a failure. And that day, I’ll throw you out of this building myself just to make sure you lose all your teeth when you land on the concrete.” The small cracks in Quentin’s expression showed the pain he was holding in, but he kept a steady voice when he spoke. “Are you breaking up with me?” “You think everything’s a fucking joke, Beck?” Obadiah narrowed his eyes. “If it’s coming from you, yeah.” Quentin grumbled. “Enjoy your sense of humor while you can, Beck.” Stane proceeded to hit him in the chest with a finger. “Not the morse code.” Quentin sighed, looking up at the ceiling. “Listen to me when I say you are a failure, kid. Unlovable. Because that’s what you are. No wonder your father did what he did.” Stane added. Quentin’s eyes burned with rage once again. Behind him, Carter clutched his hoodie even more, terrified, confused. She wanted to stand up for her friend like she had done before, but her entire body was trembling and her voice was stuck in her throat, tears stinging in her eyes because she felt so weak. She could practically feel the anger radiating off Quentin’s body. The boy glared at Obadiah; it wasn’t unusual for fifteen-year-olds to be angry, but whatever Beck had in his eyes was miles ahead of the common teenage anger. “Fuck you.” He breathed. “What is that? Huh?” Obadiah grabbed the pack of pills that was visible inside Quentin’s pocket. After he swallowed one minutes ago, he forgot to make sure it wasn’t visible anymore. Carter felt herself panic more and more. Obadiah laughed out loud with triumph. He looked around, attempting to get the other scientists to look at him as he showed them the pack of pills. “See? Finally, proof that the kid ain’t right!” he yelled, amused. “Listen up: these are…” As he read what was written on it, his smile disappeared. Everyone else was looking. Even Carter poked her head out from behind Quentin in order to look at Stane, her grip on Beck’s soft hoodie becoming loose until she let go of it. “These are…” Stane repeated, confused. “Iron pills.” Quentin was nodding his head. He stepped towards Obadiah before snatching the pack of pills from his hand, getting another one and consuming it before chewing loudly. It made a crunch sound before Beck swallowed again without water. “Clearly I am a huge loony for having anemia since I was ten.” Quentin said, shoving the pack of pills back into his pocket. “That’s the name for iron deficiency. I assume you were trying to prove something?” He lightly tilted his head to the side, his voice patronizing. “Are you done? Because I can, like, live with people knowing I’m

anemic. It’s fine. The doctors say it will be gone in a couple years, when I’m seventeen, maybe eighteen…”

“It’s not worth it,” Obadiah mumbled, visibly trying to hide how utterly embarrassed he was. “Misfits like you dig their own grave, Beck.” “No, not really, that’s why I take iron, so I can, you know… not die.” He replied, sliding his hands into his pockets and letting his eyes become piercing again, threatening, as he looked at Stane. “But assuming I am… I’m not digging it for me.” The older man glared at Quentin. Whenever the kid looked at him like that, Obadiah wanted to strangle him, but then… he saw it again, just like that day at the cafeteria. A wrath unlike any other, not even his own. And once again, he was taken aback by it. “Go back to work.” Obadiah practically spat out the words, talking to everyone else in the room, but his eyes remained focused on Beck. Quentin didn’t look away, and Obadiah ended up turning around and leaving. Carter exhaled deeply with sheer relief, losing her balance and resting her forehead against Quentin’s back. She rubbed her eyes with her small hands, letting out a quiet sigh. “I don’t- I don’t like it when- when you do that.” She said, taking a step back to leave him some space. “Do what?” He wondered, turning around to face her. “That.” She insisted. “When you- you confront him- him like that. If you- you got into trouble with- with him for trying to- to stand up for- for me, I don’t think- think I could for- forgive myself.” “Forgive yourself?” Quentin chuckled. “Hey, I chose to piss him off and I continue to choose that, do you understand? If he wants to come back for more, I’ll deal with it. If he wants to come for me, I'll deal with it.” Carter looked at him; her eyes big, dark and filled with concern, with worry for her friend. “I don’t want- want him to- to hurt you.” Quentin looked right back at her. She had no powers, she was only human, like him. She was an only child, like him. She was far too young to be so hurt, like him. She had to watch the life leaving her father’s eyes, like him. Quentin swallowed, trying to tame the panic that threatened to burn his chest from the inside out. He inhaled deeply before offering her an affectionate smile. When she didn’t return it, he reached out and ruffled her hair, which made her giggle. “I think I’ll be fine.” He reassured her. “Relax, stargazer.” “I don’t know why- why he hates you- you so much.” Carter spoke, still somewhat surprised at herself for not minding Quentin ruffling her hair. “I’m pretty sure he hates everyone, except for maybe himself.” Quentin huffed, looking away. “But I think he hates me more because… even when I’m afraid of him, I don’t let him know. I’m too bossy myself to let some idiot boss me around.” He crossed his arms. “But besides that… I believe he’s angry because he knows my potential, and he hates the fact that my mental health is delicate, because that means I’m not as productive as I could, as I should be.” “It- it’s not your- your fault.” Carter said in an attempt to comfort him. “Tell that to his thick skull,” he chuckled, before his expression became serious again. “I think he sees me as… a very useful thing that is also broken.” Carter blinked as she let his words sink in, and she felt a numb, cold sensation in the middle of her chest, completely unrelated to her arc reactor. She could understand what he was saying. She could understand it damn well, and it hurt. A very useful thing that is also broken. “Besides,” Quentin shrugged. “You really can’t tell me what is or isn’t my fault.” “Why- why not?” “Because you blame yourself, Carter.” He replied. “Constantly. For everything.” Her throat became dry. “You- you can’t possibly know- know that, Quentin.” She mumbled. “Oh, but I can.” He said wearily, nodding as his blue eyes became dull. “I can.”

also, yes!!! I love Happy letting Quentin tag along with him and Carter!! I can definitely see that doing both Quentin and Carter some good, and I do love that Happy is giving him a chance considering they didn’t get off on a good note ;w; I absolutely love how you write Quentin in this au fsdghjfgsdhkj

although the Obadiah comes and ruins it all like usual, I love that you incorporated the fact Carter can still recognize who it was by his footsteps!! She can still without her hearing aid, but it’s definitely harder, and it also depends on if she’s having a good day processing auditory stimuli or not, but I digress sdfgjhdfgs - it’s a nice touch that you added in!! And Quentin making a joke about Obadiah’s finger jabbing is another great touch, tbh!! I personally find that jokes made in serious situations like that can be a hit or miss? but it feels fitting!!

but the “Shit, Carter, the things you don’t talk about…” broke my heart ;A; Like, it’s so good?? but damn - Quentin, if only you knew, dude. I love their bond so much, and it’s definitely something I see still holding strong even years later once Carter gets a little more comfortable being around him again, and it helping her open up about Obadiah’s abuse since Quentin already was aware of it from noticing her reactions and his own personal experiences

also Obadiah mocking Carter being friends with Quentin gives me an idea, but I’ll need to figure it out another time dfghjdfs - I have some thoughts surrounding how he controls her that I kinda wanna write about at some point! The main thing with it being how he’d twist it to get her to drive away anyone she’s close to, if only out of fear Obadiah will end up hurting them instead of her. And, this is how he played it with the Avengers (with the success of it vague to keep it open for threads), but he’d lie about Carter to whoever she was close to, and then with him manipulating her, she’d end up proving him right more or less in the attempt to keep them safe. Kinda like a self-fulfilling prophecy, in a way, and I hope this makes sense because I’m v tired sfdgjhfsdh
