I periodically remember and become enraged that Rick potentially implied that Percy was confused that Nico was gay and didn’t understand it when Percy fully grew up in NYC where pride is massive and people are super open abt their sexuality (even in the early 2000s).

But then I self soothe by telling myself he was confused by someone who he thought hated him, who he believed to have ample reason to feel that way, professing their crush towards him. Especially when he has been bullied for his looks, among other things, most of his life and cannot understand it when people find him attractive.
