Today LIVE! I met Grammy-winning bassist, Will Lee, a lifetime ago at The Rock ’N Roll Cafe on Bleecker Street in NYC. He was already a legend as the bassist of The World’s Most Dangerous Band, house band for the original Late Night with David Letterman. Will and Paul Schaffer hold the distinction of being there from day one, until the final days with the CBS Orchestra on Late Show, giving him the world’s record for longest-running bassist on late-night television.Our paths crossed there, too. More on that on the Live.

Other than his three decades on The Late Show with David Letterman, Will has lent his talents to well over 2,000 Pop, Jazz, Rock, Reggae and Gospel albums including those by The Bee Gees, George Benson, Michael Bolton, David Bowie, The Brecker Brothers, James Brown, Mariah Carey, Cher, Natalie Cole, Christopher Cross, Ray Davies, Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin,  Al Green, Billy Joel, Alicia Keyes, Chaka Khan, Cyndi Lauper, Barry Manilow, Ricky Martin, Bette Midler, Laura Nyro, Diana Ross, David Sanborn, Carly Simon, Frank Sinatra, Ringo Starr, Steely Dan, Cat Stevens, Barbra Streisand, Frankie Valli, Luther Vandross, Dionne Warwick, Weather Report, Nancy Wilson and Akiko Yano, He has sung and played on an equal number of TV and radio commercials (he was the voice of Teddy Grahams, Stroh’s Beer, The US Army “Be All That You Can Be”) as well as many movie soundtracks. 

Will performed at Live Aid with The Thompson Twins and, with The CBS Orchestra, is in the house band for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. He has toured with Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, Horace Silver, The Brecker Brothers, and Herbie Mann. He has played with Miles Davis, Phil Woods, Dizzy Gillespie, and was held in Charlie Parker’s arms as a baby. Will’s performed or recorded with all 4 of the Beatles, pretty thrilling for a founding member of the world’s premier Beatles band, The Fab Faux! 

Will’s an inductee in the Musician’s Hall of Fame in Nashville, and has a permanent display (check out www.musicianshalloffame.com). I’ve had the great good fortune to see Will perform in numerous configurations. Talent plus. Plus we share a most fortunate life choice. I’m not sure there’s a nicer, kinder, lovelier, more humble human. Can’t wait to sit down with him again. Adore the man.

Falmouth Summer Shows 2017

See what our faves were at the Falmouth Uni Summer Shows this year!

Christie:

My absolute favourite work in the whole show was probably the work of illustration student Teigan Komaromi, specifically one of her small journals. When I picked it up I found myself lost in these beautiful illustrations, each page completely and intricately covered yet somehow so different to the last. The illustrations felt so honest and true to the artist, like a genuine expression of the inner self. It felt almost like a visual diary, pieces she had drawn in her day-to-day life, each page filled with emotion. I adored that the drawings were all in black ink, many accompanied with light accents of colour which I feel added another dimension to her work. I wish I could’ve photographed each page of the entire journal, but here are two of the pages that first caught my attention when I began looking through her work.

Meg:

Beth Pinner’s approach to curating really caught my attention in this years BA Fine art show. Not only does she play with one medium, which shows a certain confidence and ability to see beyond a single level, her projections depicting fluidity and movement juxtapose against her long screenprint on a light box (that she built herself). This created something where the viewer was left contemplating their surroundings. The work was shown in a single room, and upon entering the use of the dark space held the work in place, meaning you could see each flicker of dancing light from the projections. The tension in her work proved interesting with the focus on fluidity and texture. The work was best viewed upon close interaction where each mark and change in light could be seen. Her practice focuses on the engagement with mapping and capturing the trace of place.

Victoria:

It is always a joy exploring Woodlane campus with its gorgeous windows either shrouded in greenery or overlooking the sea in the distance, but of course I’m there to enjoy the work too J This year demonstrates a diverse range of works produced in subjects. I adore Rob Wilson’s work from BA Drawing, loving that he incorporates senses of movement caused by illusion – definitely my cup of tea. Also in love with my new tote bag from SPUD aka Ella Kasperkowitz, Rachel Ackerman and Stella Isaac art is allowed to be funny and I’m feeling the, “I don’t carrot all”.

Becca: 

This year we started the degree show up on Penryn campus for the BA Photography exhibition. There was some great work on BA Photography, some of which being Jessica Ashley-Stokes’ body of work ‘Miles Away’, and Rosie Warwick’s slide-projected photographs.

Installation seemed to be what caught my eye at Woodlane with lots of angles and pastel colours being a popular choice this year: Phil Darnton’s angular plywood installation (pictured) being a notable piece. I also liked Sameira Pitman’s pyramid sculptures (also pictured), which are heading to Langaland this year!

There was some really strong 1st and 2nd year Illustration on show this year, but my favourite from 3rd year would have to be Callum Heath’s alongside his small publication ‘Never give up on your dream of being a famous celebrity’ about a lady who starts hallucinating on her commute into work in central London.

Lucy:

Lastly, we have the work of Max Bale: a fine artist working within the genre of geometric abstraction. Bale’s approach is both accomplished and confident; he is to be commended for his admiration of colour and his eye for charming simplicity. Upon entering the space the viewer is greeted by Bale’s colour palate of warming pastels, which unknowingly matched my OOTD and in turn would also be good excuse to purchase one of his lovely prints.

Walking back from Lamorvra and through the sub-tropical gardens of Falmouth’s Campus, we had just enough time to head over to Illustration and check out FOULMouth Zine featuring work from myself and Meg.  FOULmouth entered our lives back in September offering up a platform to share the ‘What ifs’ that keep us awake at night with their first issue ‘Love’. You can grab yourself a copy over on their website or at Shake Bristol this Sunday!

Which of the slashers do you think would go down on a girl, and would they be good at it?

Oh a fantastic question.

Now this might be a wild ass opinion but hear me out here-

All the worthwhile ones. 

Deadass, every, single, one, I write for, would and do. I will go through the main ones here and slap it under a read more. Here are some of my personal thoughts and opinions on slashers eating out.

Freddy Krueger does it more for him than for you, he likes to do it simply for what it can do for him. Favored way for him to edge in my opinon, using his skills to make you a mess and then leverage that to get whatever he wants, use your fervent desperation and the promise of more oral to get what he wants out of you. Skills are un-real and un-natural and inhuman. Bastard. Love him.

Bo Sinclair would be good at it, be the kind of guy who can do it in a very dominant way, and more how he wants to do, the fact you enjoy it is more secondary, but you best believe he loves doing it to you. 

Stu Macher does. Just that is it. He does, he loves it, he is good at it, prefers it to him getting oral. Enthusiastic is his word. Would give rather than get every time. Messy too. His face and your thighs are gonna be wet by the end of it or he feels he didn’t do it right. 

Billy Loomis does too obviously. He is good at it but in such a casual way it is almost maddening. Like he does it so easily and is able to get such reactions without doing much, every move is purposful and it alllll works. Plus he looks really fucking good while he is doing it, which is fucking unfair. 

Herbert West it is not his favorite thing, but he certainly does not shy away from it. He does it, methodically and well. That is all. 

Leslie Vernon does. Jesus fucking Chirst he does, try to keep him from between your thighs, TRY IT. Impossible. Anytime, anywhere, he will do it on a whim, get’s the slightest craving and he is on his knees in front of you. You never even get the chance to ask because he is just on that shit, but if you ever did ask then obviously he would be down and on and doing it. And of course he is fucking good at it. He prides himself on reading people and if you are his then you best believe he is memorizing every tiny little thing about how you react when he is down on you. Get’s better and better. 

Lester And Vincent Sinclair do. Not many personal opinions on either but they both fuckin do and like it. Vin is better at it, loves to please you and will do it whenever you ask. But Lester is all too happy to try it, inexperienced but very eager, will tell you how much he loves having the chance to and the taste too. 

Buddy Swanson eats out as well as he cooks and he is an amazing cook. Another to initiate before you ever even have the chance to ask. Loves to do it anywhere, personal favorite of his is to wake you up with it. Adores that moment when you stir awake and pull back the covers to see him between your spread thighs, peering up at you through his thick brown curls and when he sees the look of sheer pleasure and surprise on your face he cannot hold back and you can feel his smile against you. And he doubles his efforts once you are actually awake. 

Sam Wescott is fucking UNFAIRLY good at it. Don’t ask how or why this headcannon got started but I imagine he gives fucking God-teir oral, there is no reason he is this spectacular at it but he is and you are just holding on for dear life, head empty, no thoughts, only focus is on his mouth and what he is doing to you. And you can feel the love and care through every pass of his tongue, passionate and caring and will stay down there all fucking night and let that be it if you so wished it. He does it the least selfishly and the most reverantly. 

Warwick Wilson does. Is amazing. Years of experience. Been with a lot of women, puts years of actual skill to use. You aren’t expecting it and thus are not ready for it the first time it happens. Also acts like it isn’t that big of a deal, a very “of course I am good at it, what did you expect?” casual and cocky. Loves to tease you about it too. 

Ash Williams does, like obviously. Of course he is good at it, duh, takes direction amazingly well. Just wants it to be good for you, tell him what you like and he will be more than happy to do it how you like, he will also throw in a curveball every now and again to see how you like it. 

Charles Lee Ray is shockingly good at it. Tiff has given him tips over the years and he has taken her advice to heart. He has seen her go down on other women and knows that she knows her shit and will conceed in that area. One of the few places he abandons his ego.

Tiffany Ray Valentine is the best. Just the best. Anyway you want it she is able to give it and will blow your mind. And she loves it. Obvi.

Which of the slashers do you think would (playfully) bite you on the ass?

Well hey there Anon!

An interesting question to be sure! I had to think on it for a minute but here we go!

Stu Macher 1000% would. A chance to be a bit playful and silly? He is taking it full out, full on. He’d be real fucking cute and cheeky about it too. Adoreable really, and then that laughing would turn to moaning in short order once he settles between your legs.

Ash Williams would. Just totally seems like the kinda thing he would do for a bit but you have a very playful relationship with him so you would not complain at all, if you had the oppertunity you might even do it back and he’d laugh it off too.

Warwick Wilson. Hear me out. You bent over his bed or some other surface that is flat enough to facillitate it, tugging your bottoms off, working down your body as he does, tension has been apparent and present so far, and when he is low enough he just does it on a lark and the reaction it draws from you out of surprise, this kind of half-laugh/half-moan, yeah that is gonna happen again at some point cuz it just sounds so good. Warwick is capable of being silly and that is a hill I will die on.

Which of the slashers do you think is most lickable? (Doesn’t necessarily correspond to your faves because ie, Bo probably tastes like Keystone Light and sweat so might not lick)

This is a tricky one. Like honestly I was sitting on this for a few days. Really mulling it over. And the one I just kept fucking coming back to was-

Sam Wescott. I dunno why I kept coming back to him but I am not questioning it. It makes no sense but fuckin’ I want to. I wanna lick that man. Seems like he has really good hygiene and the reaction he would give would be adoreable. Total confused bewilderment. I wanna see it.

See also my fave cooking boys Buddy Swanson and Warwick Wilson because I dunno I just get the vibe that yes they would taste good.
