Something about the scene where Lucanis gets drunk with Davrin and that, while yes it is about them getting over their issues with one another and becoming friends, it's even more significant that Lucanis trusts Davrin enough to let himself relax and give up some control. Alcohol is kinda the opposite of coffee, after all. And it's because Davrin is a monster hunter. Lucanis sees himself as a monster and he knows that if Spite tried to take over while he's in this vulnerable state, Davrin could handle it.

And then Rook shows up, and Lucanis insists on cooking something even though nobody asked. Partly because that's just how he expresses his love for people, but also maybe because he's still afraid Spite might break through and he doesn't want Rook to see that, not again.

(If romancing him, I think this scene should've ended after Davrin got tired of watching them exchange meaningful glances and left. Now it's just Lucanis, Rook, Spite, and the unresolved romantic tension in the room. Their fingers almost brush over the cheese plate. Lucanis flees too soon, supposedly to sleep it off, although they all know better. Spite hates it here.)
