my only take is that i do think the 9-1-1 fandom suffers severely from parasocial attachment but not just in the sense that we’re too invested in the actors that we like but also in the sense that…we should not care so much about tim minear (or many writers/directors/actors that we don’t like). i don’t…think that the vitriol people have for him is anymore normal or healthy or beneficial than, for example, people acting like oliver stark is their best friend and taking every word he says as gospel.

hnnmmgkc it's thinking about DX-TR hours. and I am thinking very hard.

Most of what we the audience know of DX-TR comes from VR-LA's point of view, which is one pure hatred. VR-LA literally knows nothing about DX-TR except that he's the reason all of this happened to him, he doesn't know anything about who DX-TR was before then or any reason he may have had for why he did what he did. everything VR-LA feels about DX-TR is based off of a vision of a memory of his worst moment, which gives us a very biased and uninformed view of who DX-TR is/was as our most prominent canon source.

Something that I think is very important about DX-TR when it comes to his characterization and motives, is that he didn't mean for all of this to happen. he never meant for MR-SN to die, for VR-LA to be lost, for his remaining crew to be imprisoned for 3 years, for any of it.

Something I think is often forgotten is that DX-TR was *not* free for those three years in the tu narath. At some point after they got the old crew out, K-LB says something to the effect of "DX-TR was just as much a prisoner here as any of us." He was not free there, lording over his foolish ex crew mates for falling into his trap. He was stuck there with them, stuck with knowing it was the consequences of his actions that got them there, stuck desperately trying to convince himself that he made the best decision he could have made, stuck just trying to keep himself focused on the task in front of them and useful to the gith so they wouldn't kill them.

Yes obviously he's the reason all this shit happened, I'm definitely not arguing that it *isn't* his fault. however, he made the decision to work with the gith under the impression that the whole crew would be together and that he would likely still be a relatively free agent for them. Another line from our first real introduction to him, DX-TR says something about how he didn't plan for them to be there so long if they'd had MR-SN and VR-LA, implying that his plan was for all 7 of them to be there together for just a short while, solve the thing they had all already been working on from relative safety with the gith, and then leave again.

Really, my point with all of this is that DX-TR didn't go into all of this thinking he was going to betray the crew. he likely doesn't even view what happened as a betrayal at all! in his mind he was just making a difficult decision for the greater good and safety of his crew that ended up with tragic unexpected consequences. but that was through the fault of the *gith*, not DX-TR, he's doing this for the crew, for MR-SN. or at least, that's the way he sees it.

DX-TR is not someone who wanted to hurt his friends. He is someone who made a questionable decision that had devastating consequences, and was driven to the state we see him in now as a result of *years* immediately after spent in survival mode, trying to ignore all of that and just push forward, justifying to himself that he's just continuing on doing what he and MR-SN set out to do.

Anyways! DX-TR is just a very interesting character to me, and I will dissect him with insane fervor as well as I can with the few scraps we get in canon <3

There is a worrying trend I have seen that witnesses the violence done by the noble class, who would invoke our plight specifically, and turn that observation into an excuse to do violence to "Karrakins," who would raze the worlds of Karrakis, and Khayradin, and, yes, Bo, and see all this as a win because of what "those bastards did to Sanjak." Here I pose you the question: who did that, and is it the people who would face the brunt of your violence?

The answer is no. Even on Karrakis, not more then 5% of those who reside there are noble, for all that the Omninet would have you believe otherwise. You look at whole worlds and see them as enemies- I answered that question about the House of Dust as I did because I know that the vast majority of the people there are my allies. That is why our movement saw victory there so quickly, there simply was more of us than there are of them, and the nobility knew that they could not hold the reigns of power, so instead they denied the planet to the people who would inherit it.

Your rhetoric echoes the reasoning of those knaves, in a way that I sincerely hope means that you are merely another anonymized voice of the Hagiographs and not some so-called ally of mine, because your tactics would have won us freedom but denied us Sanjak, and so would have had us die in the void or to the volleys of the Stone fleet.

We do lack their firepower. But we have numbers, and we always know the land we fight on far better than they who would hole themselves up in resorts. This is an advantage we lose if we kill our class-siblings and raze the land. This is a tactical decision, and one you clearly do not understand.

If it is blood you crave, direct that urge correctly and specifically, and know when it is a correct impulse to indulge. Tell me what would be won by the destruction of Bo, or begone. I have no idea if it would actually happen in show, but I have a feeling MK is at the very least going to have an "anti-circlet" arc. Go with me for a moment:

So, we know MK's bandana parallels Wukong's phoenix feathers in design, right?

This is basically a long winded way to say that MK has already been "crowned", in a sense. Unlike Wukong, MK never needed to be controlled in the same way his mentor did at the beginning of his journey. MK, instead, was given morals and love by our wonderful Dadsy from a young age, which effectively functioned as a "circlet", if that makes sense.

So, the bandana, a symbol of both who he is/was raised to be and the crown, is already his circlet. As MK is now, he doesn't need a circlet to exert control over him because of who he is—a good kid who is trying his best to make the right choices.

But, you know, there was that really scary scene that one time where MK didn't exactly feel like MK and he kind of went off the rails...and...WHAT IS THAT

HIS BANDANA WAS DAMAGED BY HIMSELF IN AN EPISODE TITLED "Rip and Tear" !!?!??!?!?

SO.

Say MK were to rip his own bandana off, symbolically showing his complete decent into his "harbinger of chaos" role...that would mean another crown would have to go on to replace it, right?

Whether MK get's crowned symbolically with another bandana or an ACTUAL circlet remains to be seen, but the potential is definitely there! And I'm normal about it

And then tsukasa angrily quit and then akito saved him from them and they kissed etc etc . CRYINGGG… yeah I’ve been told abt this fic existing before & i literally erased this fact from my head because just being given the basic summary made me so mad its existence I was like “you know what I’m not going to think too hard about this or seek it out. for my own sanity and peace of mind #choosehapiness 😊” which is how u know something really got on my nerves (known hater who loves to complain & bitch about things). & also I dislike hating on random people because I have zero desire to get in online fights and I’m a firm believer in “do whatever u want if I don’t like it I will just block you.”

That being said, RESPECTFULLY I think that person should read wonder halloween/rmd/the mafuyu focused festival event again and reevaluate their take. Rui is incredibly thorough with safety and will check the safety of his inventions *on himself* first, so that he’s the only one who will face consequences and be hurt in the very unlikely chance that he miscalculated something. He won’t ask tsukasa (or nene, or emu, or anyone else for that matter) to do something that he wouldn’t do himself. In RMD it’s shown that he tested the jump himself before showing it to his classmates, in the festival event he tested the jump pad out to recalibrate it (so that he wouldn’t be putting tsukasa on something that could hurt him) and fucked up his leg. “Someone is going to get hurt” gestures at wonder halloween.

Rui canonically was ostracized because people *thought* he would put him in situations where they would get hurt - actually doing so, whether it’s on purpose or through negligence, is something he’s terrified of. If he actually got tsukasa hurt so severely he was in a coma I 100% genuinely believe he would either quit wxs himself or just never suggest any stunts that were even slightly dangerous ever again. & if tsukasa got that hurt, Tsukasa would blame himself for both the injury and also upsetting Rui. People act like tsukasa has no agency in this when he literally 1) got mad at rui for holding back on him 2) agrees to stunts knowing the risks. Gestures aggressively & unblinkingly at wonder halloween for a solid 5-10 minutes.

“Someone is going to get hurt” HELP… there is literally an entire event where that happens. It’s like the third fucking event in the game. The most evergreen tweet anyone has ever made about this game is “don’t fuck with pjsk fans we don’t read the stories” because good god. some people really don’t.

I want to say he'd be really boring (as I drew him back in February of 2019 or something around then while dying at the beach) like so? But! I have a feeling he'd also be very okay with various additions?? like I would have given him a very boring coconut dagger attack because he's just too done in by the heat to want to do much else.

However, there's also the fun route of him just being very okay with heat despite not being used to it because he can simply regular his own temp due to ice. So that could lead to him having a mage build where he's just happy to not be working at running a kingdom and it's like... him making fun ice magic at the beach to represent either his siblings and Nifl or something? Or giving him a big hat like Nifl has would be fun, too.

I don't honestly know what I like more,,, him dying to the heat or being absolutely thrilled the heat doesn't actually bother him much. (in 2019 he was very much dying though)
