hey elleeeee
could i pretty please do đť the sharing a bed prompt, âcuddling in their sleepâ + âwaking up with their faces centimetres apartâ. with remus but theyre not together just pinNING for eachother and this happens.
consider it done
Remus Lupin x roommate!reader who cuddle for warmth and that's totally it [641 words]
CW: fem!reader, Remus sort of pining, but maybe it's not one sided!?!?, fluff, sort of a continuation from this post
Remus thinks he should perhaps feel a little guilty having taken advantage of the current situation; his original offer certainly hadnât been a selfless one.Â
Was the flat sodding freezing? Yes, it was. Would he have been up worrying all night that youâd died of hypothermia in your own bed? Absolutely. Was it indeed warmer having consolidated every blanket and pillow the two of you owned into one bed and sharing body heat to stay more comfortable? Damn right it was.Â
But, it was because of all these aforementioned reasons that Remus felt it was perhaps a touch unethical to be enjoying his current situation as much as he did.Â
The two of you were gripping each otherâs hands and arms as if you were both afraid the other would simply float away had you not been holding on for dear life. The soft, cloud filtered light bathing your face in its glow; your head resting on one of his pillows he hoped to god smelled like you, now, that was but a few measly centimetres away from his own face.Â
He found himself nearly holding his breath as though he was afraid to disturb the peace of this moment, one that he'd been fighting against yet secretly yearning for since he realised how much he enjoyed your presence; perhaps a bit too much to be simply considered roommates, or even just friends.Â
He catalogued the way your eyelashes fanned from beneath your closed eyes and kissed the tops of your cheeks, fluttering ever so slightly when something would happen in your dream. He revelled in the way that you seemed to be smiling, even in your sleep; your lips relaxed and pursed ever so slightly as you breathed through your nose.Â
Your nose - it was stupid and foolish and silly, but fuck - he loved your nose.
And this might well and truly be the one and only time he got to enjoy you like this, so sue him for what he did next.
He hardly had to move at all, really, he simply pushed his chin forward so that his nose bumped into yours. He was checking, you see, because he knew his nose was cold from the cool air surrounding your nest of pillows and blankets and body heat, but he needed to see if yours was too. He couldnât in good conscience sit here and admire your nose if you were about to lose it to frostbite, now could he?Â
Remus found himself smiling at the fact that your nose, for whatever reason, was slightly warmer than his. Good, he thought, Iâd like her to keep her nose.Â
âYouâre supposed tâbe sleeping.â You blurt rather suddenly for Remusâ tastes, still never opening your eyes as Remus rears his head back, though you strengthen your hold on his hands and arms so that he canât actually move away from you.
âHow long have you been awake?â He accuses you instead of admitting he was being a creepy fuck and watching you sleep.
You donât answer him, though. Instead, you let out a languid stretch before releasing your hold of his hands in favour of wrapping your arms around his torso and slotting yourself against him; legs tangled with his and your nose - colder than the skin of his collarbone - pushing into his neck as you tucked yourself under his chin.Â
âGo tâsleep, Rem.â You order him, tightening your hold around his chest as he allows his arms to cautiously encircle you in his own embrace; one hand splayed between your shoulder blades, and the other cupping the back of your head lovingly.Â
He didnât follow your order, unfortunately. But he did spend the rest of the morning wondering, hoping, nearly begging the universe that perhaps this might not be the last time he gets to enjoy you like this.

boyfriend!toji x selectively mute reader (f)
this was a request from anon which i will be writing a drabble for but i thought id start with little headcanons!
- toji is constantly scanning the room to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. as soon as someone looks at you wrong toji is at your side like an angry bodyguard.
- you guys have your own little hand signals (as well as signing) for your own inside jokes.
- toji immediately started to learn sign language. he struggled quite a bit at first but after seeing your smile the first time he signed he knew he would practice until he was fluent.
- he is constantly touching you. has to have his hands on you stroking or petting you in some way.
- your friends were incredibly wary of him when you first introduced him, a big scary older man. but after witnessing how soft and gentle he is with you their doubts immediately dissipated.
- toji always has you sat in his lap. any second of the day whether youâre watching movies or doing an assignment toji will always place you directly in his lap.
- and while youâre in his lap, heâs always whispering loving words in your ear. and on the off chance when youâll lean back and whisper something just as loving back to him, he tries not to look too crazy but his heart soars and his body tenses up. your trust in him is truly his favourite thing.
- if there are time where a worker/waitress catches you off guard and you find yourself struggling to explain yourself toji is by your side in a heartbeat. his bigger hands running up and down your back and stroking the back of your neck as he calms you down in the way he knows.
- toji doesnât like talking about himself however, late at night when youâd ask him to just talk about anything to lull you to sleep, toji was happy to talk for hours on end. his past was never a thing he liked to dwell on but toji found it important that he remained open to you. he knew you valued his trust as much as he did yours.
- there are times when the frustration at being unable to simply say âi love youâ to your lover would eat away at you. tears bubbling up and skin growing hot until youâd feel the familiar rough, cool feel of big hands on your face. toji was always willing to do anything and everything to take away your pain. immediately heâs got you in his lap with your head tucked away in your little safe space in the crook of his neck. toji was never good with his words but when it came to you suddenly words were flowing and he was quick to reassure you he felt loved.
- toji is always buying you little gifts that remind him of you. you have a vast collection of teddy bears all gifted to you by your absolutely massive boyfriend.
- he lived for the sound of your laugh. whether it was a whisper of a laugh, a tiny giggle or the rare times he heard a full belly laugh, toji believed something in him healed everytime he heard it.

OMG I JUST READ SUNAâS SITUATIONSHIP DHSHD PLEASE GIVE A PART TWO OMD đđ
Us again | Suna R.
Sequel of Situationship.
Tw:(Y/n was slightly harassed, Fingering, F! Receiving, finger licking, Vaginal Penetration, Creampie)
The waves rolled in, steady as always, lapping against the shore of Suna RintarĹ's memories. The beach he often retreated to felt different nowâemptier, quieter, haunted by the absence of someone he hadn't realized he needed until you were gone. It was here, among the silvered sands and whispering tides, that he had first brought you.
The thought of your laughter as you met his family for the first time still echoed in his mind like the lingering notes of a forgotten melody.
But you had left.Â
Youâd vanished into the horizon without a backward glance, chasing a life you had always deserved to follow. Suna hadnât stopped you, he didn't have the rights to, after treating you like shit, No. He hadnât said the words that had been festering in his heart: Donât go. I need you. He hadnât realized how deeply he meant it until the silence you left behind filled his life.
Months passed. The ache in his chest grew heavier with every passing day. Suna had always been composed, calm, and unshaken, but now he felt like a ship adrift, rudderless. He found himself wandering back to the beach often, staring at the stars that once witnessed your presence.
âWhy am I doing this to myself?â he muttered one night, sitting alone by the fire-pit you both had once shared. His voice was swallowed by the wind, offering no answers. It wasnât like him to dwell on things he couldnât control, but nothing else felt right anymore.
It was Atsumu who finally dragged him out of his gloom. âCâmon, RintarĹ, yer a mess,â the setter declared with a clap on the back. âYer cominâ to the party with me. Itâll do ya good to let loose a little.â
Suna scowled. âNot interested.â
âNot a question, ya loner. Iâm not lettinâ ya rot away.â
And so, reluctantly, Suna found himself standing in the pulsing chaos of a massive club. The bass pounded through his chest, the crowd a sea of unfamiliar faces. It wasnât his scene, but Atsumu had been relentless. He sipped at his drink, keeping to the edges, eyes distant.
Until they werenât.
You were there.
In the center of the dance floor, under a kaleidoscope of neon lights, Y/N. your hair moved like silk in the dim glow, your laughter rising above the music like a sirenâs song. you spun, carefree, lost in the rhythm, and for a moment, Suna thought he was imagining you.
But it was real. you were real. And you looked radiantâuntil his gaze darkened. A man he didnât recognize grabbed your arm roughly, pulling you too close. your smile faltered, confusion and discomfort clouding your expression.
Suna moved before he even realized it.
âHey,â he called, his voice low, sharp like a blade slicing through the din. âGet your hands off her.â
The man looked at him, sneering. âAnd whoâre you supposed to be?â
Sunaâs eyes narrowed. He stepped forward, his height and the weight of his glare sending a clear message. âThe guy whoâll make sure you regret it if you donât walk away right now.â
The man released you with a scoff and disappeared into the crowd. you swayed slightly, your drunken state evident. you blinked up at Suna, your expression a mix of surprise and recognition.
âRinâŚ?â you murmured, voice soft, uncertain.
âLetâs get you out of here,â he said simply, slipping an arm around you to steady you.
The ride to his apartment was quiet. you leaned against him, murmuring incoherent apologies between bouts of half-asleep silence. Suna didnât respond, his mind a whirlwind of emotions.
Once inside, he guided you to the couch, kneeling in front of you to remove your heels.Â
âYou shouldnât drink so much,â he muttered, more to himself than you.
you giggled, your words slurring. âYouâre stillâŚso bossy, Rin.â
He looked up at you then, his breath catching. Even in your disheveled state, you were still breathtaking. He hadnât realized how much heâd missed you until now, with you so close yet so far.
âYouâre a mess,â he said softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from your face.
âAnd youâreâŚstill brooding,â you countered, your gaze locking onto his. The air between them shifted, heavy and electric.
âWhy did you leave?â The question slipped out before he could stop it.
Your eyes glistened, tears threatening to fall. âYou know why, Rin. I couldnât stay. Not whenâŚâ you trailed off, voice cracking.
âNot when I was too blind to see what I had,â he finished for you, his voice barely above a whisper.
your lips parted to respond, but before you could, he leaned in, capturing them in a kiss that was both desperate and tender. you froze for a moment before melting into him, your hands tangling in his hair. The world outside ceased to exist; there was only the two of you, a collision of longing and unspoken words.
Clothes fell away like forgotten promises as they tumbled into his room. His hands traced the familiar curves of her body, rediscovering the territory he thought heâd lost forever.
âRinâŚâ you whispered, his name a prayer on your lips.
âY/N,â he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. âIâm sorry. For everything.â
you silenced him with another kiss, your touch conveying what words couldnât.
âLet me make it up to you, love.â the nickname rolled off on his tongue so smooth, and you forgot how long have you waited just for him to call you that.
He broke the kiss, lifting your dress up, his fingers tracing your pale legs as one of his fingers hooked on your laced thongs, he chuckels, quickly removing your underwear.
âOpen your mouthâ he demanded, and you obeyed, opening your mouth, he then puts his ring and middle finger in your mouth, your tongue swirling arount it.
âStill a good girl huh.â he praises you while chuckling as he removes his saliva covered fingers inside of your mouth. Without aqny warning he inserted his fingers in your pussy, slowly pumping in and out of you, you moaned at the sensation you felt.
He continues to finger you, while rubbing your clit and you moaned at every rhytym of his pace. you could feel a knot began to form inside of you, and he notices this as your toe curled, fingers clawing his arm âOh fuck rin~â you whimpered, but he suddenly stops and you looked at him in disbelief.
âWhy would you do that?â you whined âI was about to cumâ you said
âOh sorry love-â he apologizes and you noticed him stripping out of his clothes and so you did too, you slowly slipped your dress out off you, so you were both bare âI just wanted you cumming in my cock not on my fingers.â he continued as he took your legs into his broad shoulders.
He then lined his hard dick in your entrace, slowly putting it in. You sighed a moan, his pace just slow and you could feel his thick cock moving in and out of your wet pussy.
âOh god you're so good~â he moaned out, feeling the warmth of your insides âFuck- so fucking warm.â he curses under his breath as he continue to fuck you slow.
âRin~â you purred in his ears as your hands snaked around his neck combing the back of his hair, you stared at his eyes pleadingly âFuck me good, Fuck me fastâ you moaned staring straight into his soul
the way you said and the way you stared at him drives him nothing but more crazier. wadting no time, he obliges, His pace picking up and becoming more faster, you could feel him trying to burry his cock deep into your tight cunt and you felt none but pure bliss.
âOh~ Oh f-fuckâ you moaned as your wine red nails dug into his broad back, he delivered a had thrust in your pussy making you rake your fingers in his back, he winces at the sting but secretly likes itÂ
âOh shit- I'm gonna cumâ he moaned, his thrust becomming more sloppier, cock burrying more deep, your pussy tightens around his cock making him groan âShit- Don't squeeze me like that loveâ he said as he enhales a deep breath.
âGonna cum too rin fuck-â you cried out as you can feel yourself reaching your climax âCum on my cock loveâ he said, and you did. You came on his cock as you felt him emptied his loads inside of your pussy, His cock still throbbing as he burried his cock still in your pussy, you both moaned as the pleasure of reaching the climax hits you both.
In the darkness, you both found each other again, two halves of a whole that had been broken for too long.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a golden glow over the tangled sheets. Suna woke to find you nestled against him, your breathing soft and steady. He tightened his arms around you, pressing a kiss to your hair.
âStay this time,â he whispered, his voice raw.
you stirred, eyes fluttering open. You looked up at him, your gaze soft but hesitant.
âOnly if you promise to not treat me as casual again,â You said, your voice barely audible.
âI promise,â he vowed, pulling you closer.
And for the first time in months, Suna RintarĹ felt whole again.

´ Ë `)⥠mad(ly in love) max・ âšË.â
partially inspired by this by @angldelight before it got away from me! <3
max knew you looked better in blue than red. and if you did look good in red, it was the red of the his team rather than the garish red of ferrari. he believed the statement that everyone is a ferrari fan even if they don't know it, because if they saw a photo of you, they'd have brand loyalty to the stallion for the rest of their days.
there was a reason why your face and name were everywhere in your home country. you were a pride and joy to the nation you called home. but, max was more than happy to stake a claim on you.
max liked you because you challenged him. far too many women would bend over backwards for the three time champion, but you simply glared him down with your hands on your hips. you stood toe to toe with him even if there was a height difference. but you kept your gaze steady on him.
"don't fuck me over again." you said, "or you'll regret it."
"i would never do it on purpose, princess. maybe you should watch where you are going from now on." he bite back in response. he noticed a twitch in your hand, like you wanted to grab him by the front of his driver's suit and pull him close. either for a punch or a kiss.
it would eventually lead in kisses. max liked when you were mad because then that meant he could flip the script and get ferrari's little princess on her knees with a mouthful of verstappen cock. it was honestly cute, while he wanted to dive into your sweet cunt and make your insides sticky with his cum. he'd have to make you acquainted with his size.
max verstappen was fuckin' crazy though, being involved with him was like being a deer and getting your leg caught in a trap. the type of obsession that clamped around you, dug its teeth into your fragile skin. you were so cute though, something some delicate and soft. formula one was for the toughest, the mental and physical strain of it all (that could be why he was so... off). and while max believed in you, he worried.
where you were going, who you were with. you hadn't only been in monaco for a few years and while you had the likes of charles to help you around. when he heard about men you had met, max felt something curl inside of him.
it started inauspicious. he slipped an air tag into the back pocket of your jeans while you were in your driver's room getting ready for dinner with some guy that max couldn't even remember the name of. he was all smiles as he wished you a great time.
too bad there was an issue with your car. how could you have a flat tire already, you just got the car? and when you asked your date to come pick you up, he totally ghosted you. little did you know that while you were struggling with you car, max went to meet your date and give him a few firm words. that was when the real mad max came out.
"listen mate. you're never going to give her what she needs. hell, not even what she wants. there are plenty of fish in the sea." he got a little closer to the other man, "but you can't have her."
"why?" your date swallowed.
max nodded and flashed that winning smile, "because she's mine. and i know she may have talked so nice to you. she's like that. charming. but sadly she's taken. so i think it's in everyone's best interest that you delete her number and go back to finding your perfect match." he patted the man on the shoulder like they were buddies.
"and if i don't."
max's smile only grew, "i don't like people fucking what's mine. she's taken, mate. move on." he couldn't verbalize exactly how he'd rough up the other man. he didn't want to make headlines. but there was something in his gaze that made your date high tail it out of there. your number blocked and deleted.
max then used the air tag to find you at a bar close to your flat where you were drinking away your sorrows. but, don't worry about that! max was now here to make sure that you had the best night ever. while that meant ending up drunk and curled up in his bed, but he didn't mind. he was even a gentleman and created a barrier of pillows between the two of you. no funny business. even if he wanted to. when he eventually fucked you, he wanted you conscious.
that air tag would come in handy, turns out that you wore the same pair of black levi's jeans. max was wondering if he had to get more air tags to place along other items. but, he lucked out with that one. you thought it was a strange coincidence that he seemed to be where you were.
and he'd laugh and tell you, "small city, right?"
it took months of hard work but, eventually he got to sink his pretty cock into your prettier hole. the happiest day of his life. he had invited you on his boat for the afternoon, and while he didn't expect much. he wasn't expecting your pretty tits on such display. a pretty red checkered print bikini and sandals as you stayed close to max.
and then alone, out in the waters. you ended up straddling max's waist while he sat on one of the seats up on the deck. it was couch-like and allowed you two some room as you rubbed your sweet pussy up against the front of his shorts. his hands dug into the plushness of your ass as he moved against you. you were painfully pretty, and it drove max insane. you'd try to run him off the track, but he'd always get an apology by having your pretty tits in his face and your pussy around his cock.
"you feel so good." he said, "you're so soft."
you whimpered, "i'm not that soft. you keep feeding me all this good food since i came to visit! my team is going to be pissed." you squirmed a little.
he kissed at your breasts in front of your face and laughed, "well, then. i guess i'll have to keep feeding you better food." his teeth then nipped your left breast and it made you whine. his hands continued to grope you ass and you squirmed a little more.
you didn't realize that you're movements only made him harder and he had to force himself to let go of you to take his cock out of his shorts. this was a dream come true, after months of being your little shadow.
"you know how to do this?" he asked.
you held onto his shoulders and chuckled, "yes, i've had sex before." which made something cold run through max's body, but it was quickly heated up once more when you sank down on him.
other men might had had you, but he was going to make sure you were his forever. no need to get stuffed with another man's cock, when you have max who, as he might add, can get into you quite easily. it was like you were made for him as you started to ride him. he pulled you into a kiss with one hand while he groped your behind with the other. he felt your core shiver around him as you continued to move up and down on his cock.
this only lit his need for you more. if you were so good on top, how good were you on the bottom, or at your side, or stuffed full of fingers and toys as max pulled orgasm after orgasm out of you. he wanted you, he was mad for you. while he'd sometimes pull dirty tricks on the track, he had a whole other set of skills for you. because he could never hurt you on the track, too much of a risk for your safety. but he'd bruise your little pussy and cover your pretty soft breasts in large bites. he'd hope that cameras would get a good look at the pretty marks.
a lot easier to scare off men than to see a woman decorated with hickies. if he had it his way, you'd be wearing a little chain with his initials on it. or better yet, chubby little verstappen baby at your hip. the thought made something hot run through him. oh, that unlocked something in his brain as he was balls deep inside of you. he continued to leave a mess of bites on your chest as you continued to rut against him. your back arched a little when he bit one of your nipples.
"i need you to burn that bikini when we get to shore." he said between heavy pants as he grabbed your ass roughly and pushed himself up as much as he could go. his voice was a little strained from the intensity of it all.
"why?" you asked as you looked down at you.
"because, someone might get the wrong idea. and i don't want you getting hurt." he replied. it showed off far too much, too much of what belonged to him.
he rubbed up against you further. his cock poking some of your deepest parts, he wondered if he was the biggest you ever had. or if there was some other guy in another part of the world who took you apart better than him. unlikely. the way he watched you wiped drool from the corner of your mouth as you rode him made him excited.
during his time racing alongside you, he had seen you at euphoric highs of victory and deep anger when losing. but, this was a whole other look, you were far from focused. only really thinking about the cock, his cock, stuffing you full. guess there was no need to get you into his clothes and keep an air tag in your bad anymore, not when you had such a sweet look across your face.
he ran his blunt nails down the side of your thighs and felt you clench harder around his cock. which made sparks appear in the back of max's mind.
"pretty thing." he said. there was a softness to you that he wanted to sink his teeth into. especially the slight chub at your hips, next time he wanted to bite down on the skin and leave pretty bruises across it. you were just so beautiful. he thought formula one was for ugly men because they wore a helmet all the time, not pretty women who made max go insane.
you whined a little bit and started to feel yourself really get hot all over. his cock fit in you perfectly. while lust clouded your head, you honestly did think about throwing out the bikini you were wearing on board the boat. he kissed at your pulse point and you moaned, your pussy fluttered around him.
"i need that bikini gone before we get back to shore." he said.
"why, what will i wear?" you asked a little shy. you couldn't get back onto land with nothing on!
he grabbed at your ass once more and pushed you down on his cock, then held you for a moment. his lips were squared with yours as he said, "i got some extra clothes in the bedroom below deck." he knew that it was either red bull or verstappen merchandise. something that he had a lot of and could get wet.
while it wouldn't show off your pretty figure. the idea of you getting a bit chilled while heading 'home' and having your nipples poke through a shirt with his logo on it made him hotter. maybe he'll turn the ac up in the car on the drive home.
"i don't want anyone to see the bikini ever again. i'll buy you something nicer." he said as he thrusted up into you, "i don't want hungry eyes on you and neither do you. you're not a piece of meat." even though max wished to devour you, you were not meat. he'd say you were more like fruit. something refreshing and bright. something to crave on a warm day like today.
"i should have something in my bag." you said as you continued to ride him.
he held your soft hips and looked up at you, "no, no." he said then licked his top lip, "wear my clothes, they'll be more comfortable." and it'll hide your figure better.
you were the first to climax, and he managed to get you across the seat of the couch and fuck you from behind doggy style. perfect angle to make sure every last drop. you clawed at the faux leather and arched your back, your sweet noises against the sounds of the sea. your pussy clenched around him as he bullied the tip up against your cervix.
it was important for the two to get acquainted.
he finally finished inside of you and let out a sweet groan. he clenched onto your hips tightly and watched you go fully limp against the couch as you tried to catch your breath. he pulled out and gooey cum dripped out of your poor pussy. ah, it's okay. he simply pushed it all back inside of you.
with the amount he finished inside of you, you were at least 3% dutch now!
when max was finished with you, he knew that he was going to keep the little princess of ferrari. maybe eventually you'll wear the red bull logo across your pretty tits when you entered the paddock. or maybe better yet, the verstappen last name. but for now he'd simply have to stake his claim by shoving all his cum into your sweet cunt. after all it was a safer place to keep it compared to his own fist.
-
even with the start of the new season. his fixation of your cunt didn't end. so what you're on a different team, that didn't mean he couldn't easily go to the ferrari area and just get you to himself. when you win the first race of the season and sing along to your national anthem, max smiles in second. not because he is happy that you are winning.
but because he knew that his cum was dampening the front of your sweet cotton panties. you may have the trophy over your head, but he knew after this, he'd get another chance to sink another load in you. <3

AHDJFJDHAHD YOU WRITE KINICH SO GOOD IMAGINE HIM i mean not imagine he IS mean yk.. he'd be soo mean to you.. yanking ur hair back and having u open ur mouth for him but still not letting you suck him..(mexican kinich pls?)
this is SUCH a difference from my last post ijbol,, anyways
fem reader + mexican/spanish speaking kin, oral (k!receiving), rough kinich, impact play, hair pulling, dacryphilia, mix of degradation and praise, teasing and edging and hes just so mean
âbe patient, princesa. what do i always say about patience?â
âslow and steady does it,,â
âthatâs right mami, such a smart girl. now keep that mouth open fâme.â
kinich held your head back by your hair, pulled away from his so obviously aching cock when the tip was so close to your mouth and you wanted nothing more than to suck him off.
âyouâll get what you want mami donât worry, just be a good girl and wait.â
he was so sweet, it almost overrides the near primal grip of his hand laced in your hair. he relished in the way tears flowed down your cheeks in wait, makeup messier than when he first got his claws on you.
really, he had no reason for this other than the simple fact that kinich liked to,, experiment with you. he wanted to see what made you tick, exactly what buttons to push before you were plain sobbing and begging for just a sliver of his touch. he kept his own need in check, want hidden behind the soft â but increasing slowly â rise and fall of his chest.
âyou look rather desperate hermosa. you seem to want this more than i do, is that right mami?â
he loved to embarrass you in front of yourself, make you admit things that youâd usually never be bold enough to say.
when you stayed silent apart from the smallest of whines, he brought his spare hand up to cup the other side of your face. silken hands slowly moving from your jaw and sliding to the back of your neck, still soft as it laced into your hair and pulled you just a bit closer â not nearly close enough.
he felt the way you leaned into the touch, eyes doe as you looked up at him and pouted. that gentle hand was quick to match the other in terms of tone, pulling from your neck to smack the side of your cheek. light, but hard enough to leave the smallest and sweetest of stings.
âcâmon princesa, i asked you a question. donât make me repeat myself, or youâll have to wait even longer.â
the irony of him demanding an answer from you so impatiently while making you wait to just please him wouldâve been laughable had the two of you been in a different situation, but alas.
ây-yes, i do,â
he seemed dissatisfied with such a small answer, so much so that it warranted your second slap of the night.
âbe specific mami, tell me what you want. mess up again and you wonât get it.â
he was mean, bordering cruel. but really, could you blame him? he loved to see you cry and beg for him, how youre so put together look and attitude is so easily messed up and ruined when he gets his hands on you or simply tells you know.
âplease, i wanna suck you off, kin,â
he absolutely adores the way you beg for him, how you look up at him with those pretty eyes and how your lips curl even more into a soft pout as you embarrass yourself below him. he drinks up the sight, almost drunk off it as he releases the hold on your hair and switches it to glide his fingers through the back of your neck.
âas you wish, princesa. what kind of man would i be if i denied you what you wanted so badly, hm?â
the way you didnât even wait a second to take him into your mouth had him reeling, groans slipping through his lips but it wasnât like he was trying to hide them.
âfuck- good fucking girl, thats it. so eager, so nasty all for me, yeah?â
he feels the vibrations of your hummed out response course through his dick so beautifully, sending electricity through his veins and causing his head to lean back and his breath to catch in his throat. you were so relentless with him, so desperate after waiting for so so long just for a taste of him.
he could feel his impending orgasm, inevitable it seemed as you pushed all the right buttons as soon as you got your hands on him. however, he knew he had to wait. after all, slow and steady does it, and the night was still young as never.
this is so late but #fuckitweball and mi cumpleaĂąos es en tres dias!!

The grand villa was alive with laughter and warmth, an unusual sight for a house belonging to one of the most feared mafia families in Europe.
Lando Norris, heir to the Norris empire, sat at the head of the massive dining table, a glass of red wine in hand. The glow of the chandelier above reflected in his sharp eyes, but there was a softness to him tonight.
To his left sat you, his wife, the polar opposite of his ruthless world.
Where he ruled with strategy and precision, you led with compassion and kindness. You had a unique ability to bring light to the dark corners of his life, and tonight was no exception.
You were serving dessert yourself, much to the dismay of the staff.
âMadam, please,â Maria, the head of the kitchen, protested. âThis is our job.â
âOh, nonsense,â you said with a warm smile, placing a plate of chocolate cake in front of one of the guards. âYou all work so hard. Let me treat you for once.â
Lando watched you with a mixture of amusement and adoration. The hardened men who feared his orders like gospel melted under your kindness, mumbling grateful thanks as you handed out plates.
Across the table, your children were mid-debate.
âNo, no, you donât get it,â Amelia, your ten-year-old daughter, argued, her small hands slamming the table for emphasis. âPapaâs the coolest. Heâs strong, and smart, and everyone listens to him. Iâm gonna be just like him!â
Lando smirked at that, leaning back in his chair. âIs that so, Amelia?â
âYup!â She nodded confidently, her dark curls bouncing. âIâll run the family business one day. Better than you, even.â
âAmbitious,â Lando said, raising his glass in mock salute. âI like it.â
Your eight-year-old son, Jacob, rolled his eyes. âYouâre all so dramatic. Mamaâs the best. Sheâs nice to everyone, and she doesnât yell like Papa.â
Lando raised an eyebrow, feigning offense. âI donât yell.â
âYou yelled at Uncle Carlos last week,â Jacob pointed out.
âThat was a strategic discussion,â Lando replied, struggling to keep a straight face.
You laughed, shaking your head as you returned to your seat. âJacobâs right. You do yell.â
Amelia crossed her arms, glaring at her brother. âYouâre too soft, Jacob. How are you supposed to run the business if you canât even scare anyone?â
âI donât want to run the business,â Jacob said matter-of-factly, stabbing his fork into his cake. âIâm going to be a veterinarian.â
âA vet?â Amelia wrinkled her nose. âThatâs boring.â
âAmelia,â you chided gently. âItâs not boring if itâs what Jacob wants. Besides, being kind is just as important as being strong.â
Amelia huffed, but your words sank in.
Lando observed the exchange quietly, marveling at the balance you brought to their lives.
Later that evening, after the kids had gone to bed, you and Lando sat on the terrace overlooking the gardens. The night air was cool, and the stars were scattered across the sky like diamonds.
âSheâs got your fire, that one,â you said, leaning against Landoâs shoulder.
âAnd heâs got your heart,â Lando replied, lacing his fingers with yours. âWeâre raising a mini us, you know.â
You laughed softly. âIs that a good thing?â
Lando kissed the top of your head. âThe best thing.â
For a moment, the world outside the villaâhis world of deals, betrayals, and shadowsâfelt far away.
Here, with you, with his children, he was simply Lando. A man who had everything heâd ever wanted, and more than he thought he deserved.
As the staff cleared the dining room below, they whispered among themselves, as they always did.
About how Mr. Norris was terrifying, yes, but also fiercely devoted to his wife.
About how Madam Norris made their lives better with her warmth and generosity.
About how the children were growing into reflections of their parentsâAmelia, bold and determined, and Jacob, gentle and kind.
It wasnât a typical mafia family, no. But it was theirs. And that was more than enough.
Thank you for reading!

Inspired by one of my friends prompts â Law x Reader (gender not specified) â Angst / Fluff
You were a Straw Hat.
The most perfect person in the world for him â on a different crew. You were someone who he couldnât reach, no matter what he did.
He fell for you. Hard.
You always liked him. He was a pretty boy; perhaps the prettiest boy youâve ever seen. Ever since you laid your eyes on him two years ago in the auction house in Sabaody, you couldnât stop thinking about him.
Hells, you didnât even speak to him.
At first, he just believed you were some diehard simp who wasnât genuine towards him. So he shrugged you off.
He was always rather insecure, not capable of believing someone actually loved him. Romantically, at least.
You talked (pestered) him the whole time he was on the Sunny due to the newfound alliance he made with your captain. Honestly, you didnât really do a good job at hiding your feelings.
More like you didnât even bother to hide them in the first place. You were so direct with him about how you felt.
Still, he wasnât phased by your endless compliments and attempts at making him open up.
One night, however, he wasnât in the best mood.
He said you irritated him. Bluntly.
After that, you decided to leave him alone. It felt unusual around the Sunny without your constant rambling. For some reason, his heart ached without your warmth by his side.
He told himself you meant nothing to him; only a temporary ally with good fighting skills he couldnât risk losing.
However, in Dressrosa, when Doflamingo managed to capture you and him both, you acted strangely.
You saw how distressed he was, being helpless before the Warlord. Behind that tough exterior, there was a little boy, scarred from his past.
And, oh, how absolutely protective you got.
Doflamingo was holding you up by strings, blood spilling from every wound they cut into your skin. But you still retaliated.
Risked getting killed to escape the strings, all because you didnât want Law to feel helpless. His emotions were through the roof whenever he realized you were trying to meaninglessly fight back. For his sake.
When you got out, you were a bloody mess, barely able to stand with how wobbly your knees were. Some of your bones were even broken.
He asked with wide eyes, âWhat were you thinking?!â
You simply smiled, and said, âYou hate him, donât you? I didnât want to sit around and do nothing to help. Weâre friends, arenât we?â
He met your gaze with an unfamiliar softness youâd never seen before. His heart skipped a beat.
Thatâs when he realized.
You fell first, but he fell harder. Way harder.
The whole time you were in Zou and Wano with him, he couldnât stop staring at you. You shone like an angel in his vision. All your features amplified to make you more ethereal.
His teeth ground against each other whenever you got too close to one of your crew mates. Especially the blond cook. He swooned over you, and you laughed so wholesomely in response.
What he would do to just steal you for himself.
When Kaido and Big Mom were defeated, the whole country celebrating by holding a feast, Law offered to look around at all the games set up throughout the capital.
Happily, you dragged him around, completely forgetting that day when he said you were annoying.
He couldnât stop admiring you as you indulged in the games.
His heart raced.
Ba-dump!
Ba-dump!
Ba-dump!
Gods, he couldnât take it anymore.
So, he dragged you away, into a nearby alleyway. You flushed, asking him what was wrong. He was so red in the face that he looked feverish.
He hadnât even touched you, yet he was drunk off of you. That same warmth he craved and missed.
Before you could question him any further, his lips brushed against yours, his hold on your wrist tightening. You gasped against him, not expecting the intimate contact.
Eagerly, you kissed him back.
He loved you too much for his own good.
âCome with me. Please. Leave this country with me.â
âTra-.. Law. You know I canât⌠I canât do that.â
Fuck.
When he had to leave you behind, it felt like he was leaving half of his heart behind. With someone else. Under someone elseâs supervision.
If anything happened to you, heâd steal you away without even asking for your permission.
But if something happened to himâŚ
He just wanted you to know that he loved you.

"Wow...I can't believe you did all of this..." you said as you admired the beautifully set table in front of you. It was littered with plucked red roses and lit-up orange candles. It was perfect- well at least nearly perfect. As much as you appreciated the gesture, you couldn't help but be saddened that the only flower on the table was the one you couldn't stand.Â
You felt as though they were overused and cliche, but it wasn't necessarily the flowers that downed your mood but the mere fact that you had told him countless times how much you loathed them and yet, once again he had stuffed them in your face.
It was as though he never heard a single word that came out of your mouth. It was okay, you supposed as at least he put the effort in, in the first place.Â
"Of course, I would, baby. It's our three year, I would be stupid if I didn't." Rafe stated with a small smile, that was all he was willing to offer after the events of his father's death. You could tell it was weighing him down but you couldn't do more than you already were.Â
You were skipping your classes, sleeping over every night, had arranged the funeral with him and been by his side every step of the way. You were exhausted but you knew he was going through the worst time of his life and was going through worse than you. That's what you kept telling yourself, that he needed comfort more than you did. That had calmed you down for the time being but it had been months and you knew that you were gonna snap one day soon, leading you to truly hope that it was when Rafe was in a good headspace but with the way life was going, you didn't know when that would be.Â
"Well, the stupid part is kind of debatable." You shrugged as you stabbed a piece of carrot with your fork.Â
"Hey!" Rafe laughed softly as he kicked your leg under the table, his hand reaching for his glass of scotch.Â
"I mean it though... thank you for doing all of this."
You said as you looked at him, your eyes full of love for the man you thought you were going to spend the rest of your life with. He simply nods as he pours himself another drink, but you can tell from the light coat of pink on his cheeks that he is blushing. "I love you." You finished as you reached your hand over to hold the one that had a grasp on the bottle while he was still pouring a flood of alcohol into his glass. The action stopped him in his tracks as you lowered his hand and he let go of the half-full bottle.Â
"I love you too, baby." He muttered the phrase as he looked into your eyes causing yours to water as you pulled away to fix the napkin on your lap and then began to eat the slightly burnt food your boyfriend had prepared.
-Six days later-Â
From: Sister-in-lawâ¨
Hey
Sent 4:34 pm
It's Sarah. I changed my number a few weeks ago I'm not sure if you have it or not.
Sent 4:34 pm
I just wanted to let you know that I broke into Tannyhill like an hour ago to get a few of my things and heard a girl in Rafe's room.Â
Sent 4:36 pm
It didn't sound like you and if I'm wrong then I'm sorry but I don't think I am.Â
Sent 4:37 pm
You stared at the messages in front of you as your eyes continued to read over them just like they had for the last five minutes. You couldn't seem to tear them away.Â
You had known Sarah for the last three years, even before she went all pogue and left the only life she had ever known. And though you were confused about why she did at first- when Ward's toxic actions had come to light, you had driven your overly priced car over to the shack John B called home and simply hugged the girl. She had cried in your arms because she knew that even though you loved her brother, you had believed her and loved her too.Â
Even when you had sat on the kook side of the courthouse the day John B was arrested, your sympathetic gaze was enough to let her know that you weren't sure what to do and chose to stick by the only life you had ever known, and she couldn't fault you for that. She would have done the same if it was just another Pogue, but it wasn't. It was the man she loved and she knew that you loved Rafe and needed to do what was right for your relationship.
You had called her later that night to give her any information that you might have known about what Rafe and Ward were planning which ultimately led to John B getting out... she would never forget what you did.Â
You were her sister more than Rafe was her brother and that wasn't going to change just because you were doing what it took to keep the man you loved safe, just like she was.Â
A tear dropped from your eye and landed on the blue messages causing some of the words to blur as you hastily pulled yourself out of your bedroom and ran to your car.
You couldn't even remember the ride over as you hurried up the stairs of Tannyhill. You did know one thing though, Sarah wouldn't have lied to you and even when you hoped Rafe hadnât lied to you earlier that morning when he assured you that you could head back to your family home- It made sense to you. He sent you home so he could finally get alone time with his side piece.Â
You whipped his door open and simply nodded to yourself when your boyfriend quickly pulled away from the blue-eyed redhead to meet your eyes before quickly rolling off the bed and pulling on his shorts when he finally processed who was standing in the doorway. You ran down the stairs of the biggest home on the island and the place that you had called your second home for the last three years.
You could hear the sound of the girl calling for him and the sound of him practically flying down the stairs behind you in hopes of catching you before you made it to your car and the probability of you running him over became more likely than you hearing him out.
He was faster than you thought as his large hand wrapped around your forearm, stopping you in your tracks. You whip around with your hand raised as you prepare to smack him across the face but he catches your arm with his other hand before he harshly shoves you backward. Tears run down your cheeks as you head down his too-long driveway and it certainly doesn't help that you decided to park right at the gate and run to his home.Â
"Baby, just stop-" He started his voice thick as he ran after you, but he was cut off before he could speak further.
"Don't call me that! You can't just baby me and I'll somehow find it in myself to forgive you. It's not happening. Have a nice life with Merida." You shot back, your tone quickly turned from heartbroken to mocking as the second stage of grief took over.
"Look... after my dad, I just..." He bowed his head after he had finally found an excuse you may actually fall for as all the kind actions you had done for him after his father died flashed through his mind, a chill ran through him as guilt began to run through him as the extent of his choices had begun to settle in. He chose getting in the pants of a random girl over his girlfriend who had stood by him after all the bad he had done. A part of him hoped that you would do that this time- bend your morals to keep him by your side.Â
"Jesus Christ! Don't you dare use his death as an excuse!" You shutter out a breath as you refuse to fall for his guilt-tripping. You knew that you act crazy when experiencing grief, you had experienced it yourself when you had lost your mother a few years back. You went through the stages of grief alone as your father travelled in hopes of returning and being a better father to you but instead of him becoming a better father, his running off completely ruined your relationship. You were all alone for months with no one by your side, until you met Rafe six months after the death of your mother. And though he didn't help you through it directly, his presence had filled some of the hole in your heart and had given you something else to focus on.Â
You had been through the loss of your mother who died of stomach cancer, the loss of your cousin who was murdered and the loss of your younger sister who had perished in a car accident when you were twelve. You had known more about loss than anyone you had been close with and knew firsthand how grief could affect you- especially when you lose a parent- but Rafe had, had your support and love through it all. You had been by his side through it all even though he and his dad weren't close, even though your boyfriend had hired a hitman on his own father only to cheat on his girlfriend and blame it on his father when he had been dead for four and a half months.Â
"Look," You continued as you brought your weakened arms up to your hips as you scrutinized him dead in his eye. "I'm sorry about your dad. I really am- but newsflash the guys dead! And he has been for months- and for months, I've been bending over backwards to help you get through it just for you... to prove to me that I made a mistake. That I wasted not just months of my life helping you but years of my life loving you." You saw the range of emotions that flashed over his face as he attempted to process your words. It started with tears at the mention of his father, but his sadness flashed to anger as you began to mention all you had done for him and looked as though he was about to interrupt you but you just kept going, until it flashed to something darker.
"I told you when we started out that I had three deal breakers. Disrespect of any kind, lying and cheating- and so far you've managed to cross them all off, didn't you? Should I start yelling bingo?" You let out an angry laugh that resembles a heartbroken one as you turn around and head to your car.
"If you take one more step, I will make sure you regret it." His words came out like they were natural like you were one of the people he despised most. As if you hadnât been the most important person to him for the last three years. It was jarring how different his voice was when he wasnât telling you he loved you.Â
You stop in your tracks as a chill runs down your spine, there is something in his tone... an edge it has that sends a warning through you. You know what he's done and what he's capable of. And as much as it hurt you to think this, you could count every time he had ever scared on one hand but right now, this wasn't just fear creeping through you- it was terror.Â
He didn't have anything to lose anymore. His mother had been gone since he was thirteen, Sarah had chosen her true family over her blood family, Rose had taken Wheezie just days after Ward's body was found and had run for the hills without even taking a second thought about the grief her stepchildren were going through while holding on to the remaining gold and lastly, the one person he loved more than this his siblings and more than you-Â his father- was gone and he was never coming back.Â
He was no longer enrolled in college anymore and even if he was, he never went to his classes and definitely wouldn't now. He didn't have a job other than his half-assed company he was so hellbent on making. A large part of you felt sorry for him; he was going through a lot and didn't have anyone by his side, but an even larger part of you felt more bad for yourself. You loved him blindly, stuck with him after he took someone's life, stayed with him after he tried to kill his sister twice, stayed with him through his cocaine addiction, stayed with him after the death of his father and after his youngest sister was taken from him. You would have willingly been his home had he not shown you time and time again that he would stray for something else that caught his attention. First it it was the coke, then the gold, then his father's approval and now some random girl. You would have been crazed to even consider staying with him this time and to be frank, it didn't even cross your mind.Â
"Is that a threat, Rafe? You gonna kill me like you killed Peterkin?" You asked sharply.
"Nah...you'll just have to wait and see. You're gonna regret ever leaving his driveway." A small, creepy smile spread across his face and it was that damn smile that showed you that you were right to be done with him. He had finally lost it.Â
"Yeah, I don't think I will. Nothing you do to me would be worse than staying with you." And with those words you took that one step, the one that would seal your fate as you took those final steps to your sleek car before you pulled yourself in and slammed the door. Through the windshield window, you could see Rafe still standing there with his arms crossed as if he was expecting you to hop out of your car and run to him but he was clearly mistaken as you shifted your car gear and stepped on the gas like your life depended on it and in your defence, you were as you hurtled out of Tannyhill without looking back.
And though it was reckless you pulled out your phone as you slowed down on the gas when you considered yourself a safe distance away from your crazed ex boyfriend. With your phone in your hand, you opened up Sarah's contact and your eyes locked on her earlier messages. The same messages that seemed to blow up your three-year relationship.Â
Hey

Hearted 6:21 pm
The next day your life was flipped upside down after you received a call from Yale University to personally notify you that you had been expelled for unlawful drug use after Rafe had anonymously sent a video to your university of you doing coke for the first time two years ago after he had talked you into it and you hadnât done it since as you didn't like how it made you feel. He even went as far as getting someone to plant a small amount of coke in your car resulting in you getting arrested in a ditch after being pulled over. After that, your father gave you an ultimatum. He speaks to Topper's grandfather who is a respected judge- and gets him to let you off the hook if you go to a rehab centre or you get charged for carrying drugs in your car and get up to a year in prison. And no matter how much you tried to convince him that you didn't do cocaine and that it was only that one time, he didn't even want to hear you out.
And as much as you didn't want to go to rehab, you knew that it was better than prison.Â
Though you knew Rafe would want to get revenge on you for breaking it off with him, you never would have expected him to partake in such a deliberate and evil takedown for experiencing the consequences of his selfish actions. It was insane to think that you had spent years of your life with a man who you thought would do anything for you, he had looked at you like you hung the moon and the stars yet he had disrespected you and humiliated you beyond belief for some random girl? You had never seen her before so you could only assume she was a Pogue which you highly doubted from the way he spoke about lower-class people, so that could only mean that she was a tourist. He had thrown your whole relationship away for some girl who was gonna leave a few days later but he felt the need to single-handedly ruin your life for having a problem with it?Â
You had kicked yourself every day you spent in the hellhole that was rehab, the doctors looked down upon you like you were the bane of their existence, it was exhausting constantly being judged for being an addict when you weren't even one, to begin with. Hell, the place made you want to do drugs. You couldn't quite understand why a place that was supposed to help you overcome addiction would do so little good with the amount of money that goes into funding them.Â
Your stay at the rehab centre was only two months but it took you seven months to return to OBX as you were sent to go live with your aunt, Mae, in New York. And in those five months, you stewed as you put a plan into action to wreak havoc upon the man who ruined your life.
Now, eight months after the fall of the most talked about couple on the island- you were sitting in the country club sipping a pina colada that a pretty bartender made while wearing a beautiful floral dress.Â
The booming sound of your ex-boyfriend's laugh brought you out of your head as you slowly turned your neck to look over at the approaching man, and thankfully he was by the other side of the bar which caused a smile to curl up your lips slightly as your plan seemed to set into motion, however- your smile dropped as he leaned down to kiss the pretty bartender who made your drink just a few minutes prior shocking you to your core.Â
You had heard from Sarah that Rafe was dating some poor girl from the cut but you hadn't expected it to be the girl you had just made small talk with a few minutes ago, and you certainly hadn't expected her to be...her.
From your conversation, you could tell that she was a very sweet girl who was just trying to change the financial situation that she had been born into and you admired that deeply. In said conversation, you had learned that she was twenty-two making you two the same age and that she was born in Mexico City but moved to the cut when she was very young.Â
You also couldn't ignore the fact that she was beautiful and if you were going to be serious, you were pretty jealous and not because Rafe had moved on- but because he was dating one of the most beautiful girls you had ever seen while you were tucked away in a facility or stuck in the presence of your annoying cousins.
You tuck a piece of hair behind your ear as you listen to their conversation.
"Hey, baby." He used to call me that. "I missed you this morning." So their sleeping over? You picked apart every word of their conversation, you couldn't even help yourself.
"I know," she laughed, "I'm sorry, again. I had to cover Gaby's shift."
"Yeah, yeah whatever you say." He laughed causing her to grin before she slapped his chest. "I gotta go, Toppers waiting. I just wanted to say hi and put our drinks in. I'll take-" He began to list what he wanted before the shorter girl shook her head as if she had already memorized his order, and she had.
"I know... Topper want the usual?" She asked as she began to tap on the device behind the bar to type in his drink order.
"Yeah, thanks." She nods in response, her eyes fixated on the task at hand. "Love you." He smiles as he backs away, his eyes still focused on his girlfriend.Â
He used to say that to me all the time, you thought.Â
Those words grab her attention as she looks up with a smile so wide you guessed that it hurt but it suited her quite nicely. "Love you." After that; he turned away and headed to his table and Sofia turned back to the monitor in front of her. Then, as if she sensed your eyes on her she pulled hers away from the screen and looked over at you. She smiled at you and if it wasn't so sweet you would have guessed that she was rubbing it in your face.Â
"Would you like another?" She asked as she pointed to your nearly empty drink, you nodded gently and she turned around to work on your drink, deciding that her boyfriends and his best friends could wait.Â
A wide smile fills the space of the small one that had covered your face just a minute ago as you mentally changed your whole plan of taking Rafe down for a crime he didn't commit after deciding that you had a better one in mind. One that he wouldn't never see coming and it all involved your ex-boyfriend's new girl and man- it was going to feel good.

Words â 1kÂ
Megumi had tossed his phone haphazardly to the other side of his bed, falling back onto the pillow and staring at the ceiling. He felt so utterly stupid. Nobara was right, honestly. He couldnât just give up, just back away every single time he felt exposed, every time he felt as if a deeper layer of him was being shown. It scared him more than anything, to allow you to see those parts of him knowing you might not react the way he hoped. With the reveal of the vulnerable parts also came the risk of being harmed, hence why he was so guarded. He found himself converting every emotion into anger, bubbling and bursting like a geyser when the time came. Worst of all, heâd let that time be with you. He wasnât angry at you, not in the least. He could never be angry at you.Â
He was angry at Kamo for swooping in just when things felt right, he was angry at Nobara for bringing that on in the first place, and most of all, he was angry at himself. Heâd pushed you away out of fear that his emotions were too much to bare, and now it had been two weeks since the two of you had shared a good conversation. He hated it. It was all his fault.Â
You couldnât ever love him. He couldnât even love him, he hated him. It was only natural that youâd do the same, after all, you seemed to be rather parallel. Always in the same direction, never meeting. He just wished it wasnât that way, he wished loving you wasnât so scary and that at the very least, he could man up and admit it. Heâd never been a forward man. Instead he pushed you away and treated you like an asshole. When you called him out he couldnât even argue because everything you said was true. Every word, every bit of it, except for the implication that youâd done something wrong.Â
Fuck, he felt like a middle schooler again. Living through university with you was just as heart wrenching, just as terrible. Yet again he found himself doing the wrong thing at the wrong time, every aspect of his life scrambled simply because you liked another boy. Heâd never cared much for life, never found much purpose in his own, except for you. You⌠you were everything.Â
âFushiguro, get up, man!â came a voice from the doorway, along with a jacket being tossed at him, which he swatted away without a second thought. Yuji had been at it all week, trying to make Megumi get outside for reasons other than classes.Â
âScrew off.âÂ
Yuji suppressed a groan, tossing his head back in exasperation. âTodoâs frat is having a party tomorrow. Youâre going.âÂ
Megumiâs face pulled up into a scowl, disgust painting his features. A party, seriously? Did Yuji even know him? âNo, Iâm not.âÂ
âYou are,â Yuji pushed. He let out a soft sigh, voice coming out a little softer when he continued. âPlease. Just once. Everyoneâs getting worried.âÂ
Megumi felt a pang of something in his chest. Guilt? Maybe. Compassion? Possibly. He let out an annoyed huff, similar to what your parents do when you beg for something before asking you to grab their wallet. ââŚfine. Just once.âÂ
Yuji grinned proudly, internally fist pumping. âYes! Okay, weâll go tomorrow night at ten.âÂ
âHmph. âKay.âÂ
Meanwhile, you were having a similar conversation, though with far more pestering and far more people.Â
Toge was sprawled out on the carpet beside your bed, right next to Panda, whose circumference took up nearly half of the floors area. Maki was perched on her bed, Yuta standing idly at the bottom of it. Nobara, who had basically moved into your dorm by now, was sat at the bottom of yours.Â
âYouâre coming.â
âNo.âÂ
âPlease?â
âNo.âÂ
âPlease?â they simultaneously whined, except for Maki, who instead stared at you as if to tell you the choice wasnât yours to make.Â
You slumped against the wall your bed was pushed against, grumbling under your breath. âOh my gosh, why? I donât want to.âÂ
âYou should get out, [name]. Iâm concerned for youâwe all are,â Yuta said, his gentle voice chipping away at your resolve. Screw nice boys and their soft spoken voices, and screw him for being your friend.Â
âThink about it,â Nobara said, propping herself up on one arm. âIf you look really hot, itâs revenge.âÂ
You rolled your eyes. âI donât have much thatâs âhotâ in my closet, anyway,â you whined.Â
âYouâre saying that to a shopping addict. Thatâs music to her ears,â Maki called from across the room. Well, she wasnât wrong. Nobara seemed to be jittering with excitement simply from hearing it, already picturing the next trip to the mall in her mind.Â
You mulled over it for a moment. There were both pros and cons included if you decided to agree. Pros: confidence boost, fun, quality time, happy friends. Cons: Megumi and Kamo were both likely to be there, considering (though Kamo more directly) they were both linked to Todo. It came down to the choice not of whether to go or not, but of whether youâd let a silly fight force you to be cooped up in your room wallowing in self pity, or if youâd push through. That realization alone was enough to force a nod from your head, a breath of air leaving your lips.Â
âOkay, okay. Iâll be there.âÂ
Nobara, as well as the others, all lit up. Toge grinned at you from the floor, proud as if heâd done anything anyway.Â
âWe have to go shopping!â Nobara said. You agreed with a soft laugh and a hesitant nod, blissfully unaware of the events that awaited you.Â

Of Hushed Whispers
The glittering city of Treviso stretched out under the warm Antivan night, its cobblestone streets alive with the sound of music and laughter. The grand ballroom belonging to Dellamorte house was already packed with elegantly dressed figures, their masks gleaming under chandeliers that sparkled like captured starlight.
Rook adjusted her raven-black mask, her sharp eyes scanning the room. A surge of nerves threatened to unsettle her, though she did her best to bury it. Antivaâs crows were not known for their timidity, after all. Tonight, she was dressed in a sleek, dark red gown that clung to her frame, blending elegance with a touch of menaceâappropriate for a crow, she thought.
âYou clean up nicely, uccellina,â came a low, familiar voice behind her.
Rook turned to see Lucanis Dellamorte, his dark eyes glinting with mischief beneath a gold-lined mask. His midnight-black suit was impeccably tailored, the deep red accents along the lapel complementing the dark locs that framed his face. His gaze was sharp, but his smile was softerâdangerous, yet inviting.
âAnd you look entirely too comfortable,â Rook quipped, though she couldnât help the faint smile tugging at her lips.
âAh, comfort is confidence, no?â Lucanis stepped closer, offering his arm. âCome, dance with me. Letâs show these amateurs how itâs done.â
Rook raised a skeptical brow. âYou think you can keep up?â
Lucanis chuckled, his tone dripping with playful arrogance. âTesoro, I was born to lead.â
Without waiting for an answer, he led her onto the polished marble dance floor. The orchestra swelled, and the other masked dancers parted slightly to make way for the pair. Lucanisâs hand slid to Rookâs waist, guiding her as they began to move.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The music was a lively waltz, and Lucanisâs movements were fluid, confident. Rook found herself following his lead with ease, though she would never admit how much she enjoyed it.
âYouâre good,â she said, trying to sound unimpressed, though her heart raced at the closeness between them.
âGood? Amore mio, I am magnifico,â Lucanis teased, leaning closer. His breath ghosted over her ear as he murmured, âAnd youâwell, youâre dazzling tonight. Itâs almost unfair to everyone else in this room.â
Rook felt heat rise to her cheeks but managed to roll her eyes. âSweet talk wonât distract me, Amorino.â
âDistract you?â He smirked, spinning her expertly. âWhy would I want to distract you when I can simply enjoy this moment, eh? You, in my arms, under the starsâŚâ
âUnder the chandeliers,â Rook corrected dryly, though her smile betrayed her.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Nearby, Teia and Viago observed the pair with mixed reactions. Teia sipped her wine and raised a brow at Viago. âWould you stop glaring holes into Lucanis?â she chided. âItâs unbecoming.â
Viago, whose dark eyes had been fixed on the dancing couple, scowled. His sharp features were framed by his usual untamed hair, and his black attire was as severe as his mood. âIâm not glaring.â
âYouâre definitely glaring,â Teia replied. âRookâs fine. Sheâs not some fledgling anymore.â
âSheâs family,â Viago said curtly. âAnd Lucanis isâwell, Lucanis.â
âMm, fair point,â Teia said, hiding a smirk behind her glass. âBut I think your sister can handle herself. And besides, she looks like sheâs enjoying herself.â
Viagoâs frown deepened as Lucanis whispered something to Rook, making her laugh softly.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The music slowed, shifting to a more intimate rhythm. Lucanisâs hand tightened slightly on Rookâs waist, pulling her closer. Their movements slowed, matching the sultry melody.
âYouâre staring,â Rook said, her voice barely above a whisper.
âCan you blame me?â Lucanis replied, his voice low and velvety. âYou are⌠breathtaking.â
Rook felt her heart skip a beat. âYouâre laying it on thick tonight, arenât you?â
âOnly because itâs true, bella mia,â he murmured, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. âAnd because I canât stop thinking about how beautiful you look when you smile.â
Before she could reply, the music ended, and the room erupted in applause. Lucanis took a step back and bowed dramatically, earning a soft laugh from Rook. She shook her head, but the warmth in her chest was undeniable.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Later that night, Lucanis led Rook back to his villa on the outskirts of Treviso. The air was cool and fragrant with the scent of blooming jasmine. The rooftop terrace of the Dellamorte villa was a world unto itself, far above the golden lights of the city.
Lucanis led her up to a blanket he had laid out. The view was stunning-stars scattered across the velvety sky, the city lights twinkling below like fireflies.
"Thoughtful," Rook said, sitting down and leaning back on her hands.
Lucanis sat beside her, his shoulder brushing hers. "I have my moments."
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the quiet punctuated by the distant hum of the city. Eventually, Lucanis turned to her, his expression unusually soft.
"You know, Rook," Lucanis began, his tone softer now, "there's a saying about the stars."
"Oh?" She turned her head to look at him, curious.
He nodded, pointing upward. "They say the brightest ones are the souls of those destined to burn the fiercest in life. Dangerous, fiery, unforgettable."
She smirked. "Are you trying to say l'm a star?"
Lucanis smiled, his gaze shifting to something gentler. "No, uccellina. You're the whole night sky."
Rook stared at him for a moment, unsure whether to tease him or let the warmth of his words settle in her chest. She chose the latter, though she couldn't resist a small grin. âSmooth, Amorino. Very smooth.â
"What can I say? I'm a man of many talents." The playful glint returned to his eyes as he shifted closer, propping himself up on one arm.
Rook shook her head softly, then leaned closer. "You're not so bad yourself," she teased, her voice barely audible.
Lucanis chuckled, leaning in until their lips met in a slow, gentle kiss. His lips were warm and insistent, coaxing her into the moment.
Rook melted into him, her fingers threading into his dark hair as the kiss deepened, their surroundings fading into insignificance. When they finally broke apart, her cheeks were flushed, and she swatted his chest lightly.
"You're insufferable," she muttered, though there was no mistaking the affection in her tone.
"And you love it," he countered, stealing another kiss before she could reply. This one was quicker but just as meaningful, his lips lingering on hers before trailing to the corner of her mouth. "Ammettilo," he murmured against her skin, his voice low and teasing. "You'd be lost without me."
Rook arched an eyebrow, though her fingers stayed tangled in his hair. "Bold of you to assume."
"Not bold⌠truthful," he corrected, reclining back onto the blanket and tugging her down to rest against his chest. He pressed a kiss to her forehead, his voice turning serious, though there was still a playful edge to it. "I'm the perfect man for you, uccellina mia. Every touch, every kissâ it's all for you."
Rook smiled against his chest, her fingers tracing the outline of his shirt. "Then I suppose I should be grateful you've decided to share yourself with me."
Lucanis chuckled, his fingers gently brushing through her hair. "Cara mia, I'm not sharingâ I'm giving my heart to you. And trust me, I'll be making sure you never forget that."
She lifted her head to meet his eyes, her gaze steady. "Oh? Is that a promise, Lucanis?"
He kissed her again, slow and deep, his voice barely a whisper as they broke apart. "Promise, amore. My heart is yours, now and always."
The stars above them seemed to shine a little brighter as they held each other close, the quiet moments between kisses full of promises, laughter, and the kind of love that burned as brightly as the night sky itself.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
So this actually took me 4hrs. to write because I kept changing the ending đĽ˛
ANYWAYS, Iâm turning crumbs to meals! Eat up!

Chapter 11 - 'She's Something' | âMovie Night'
word count - 11.3k
The early morning light filtered through the blinds in soft streaks, casting a warm glow over the room. The house was silent, the kind of stillness that only exists just before the world begins to wake. You stirred awake, blinking against the gentle light, and for a moment, you simply watched Trent sleep. His features were relaxed, his breathing steady, his arm lazily draped across the bed where you had been moments before. The sight made your chest ache, but in the sweetest way. He was perfect. Slipping out of bed as quietly as you could, you padded to the kitchen, the cool tiles beneath your feet making you shiver slightly. The space was dimly lit, the morning sun not quite reaching it yet. You moved with purpose but also with care, opening drawers and cabinets softly, grabbing what you needed to make breakfast. The sound of eggs cracking broke the silence, followed by the gentle hiss of butter melting in the pan. You whisked the eggs, your movements rhythmic and calming, the act of cooking grounding you in the moment. The scent of fresh coffee brewing mingled with the faint, lingering traces of Trentâs cologne still on your skin, making you smile. You set the table quietly, plates arranged just so, and folded a napkin absentmindedly. As you reached for the coffee pot, pouring it into two mugs, you felt a presence behind you. Before you could turn, warm arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you back against a solid chest.
âWow,â Trent murmured, his voice deep and gravelly from sleep. âI thought Iâd get a cuddle this morning, but thisâŚâ He rested his chin lightly on your shoulder. âThis might be better.â You tilted your head back to look at him, his eyes still half-lidded but shining with warmth.Â
âI was hungry,â you teased, laughing softly as his hands tightened slightly around your waist. âLast night was genuinely a work out.â You giggled.Â
âYeah?â he said, his voice soft but laced with amusement. He leaned in, pressing his lips lightly to your temple, his warmth chasing away the slight chill from the morning air. âYou look so good in the morning, you know that?â
âI look the same,â you replied, a small laugh escaping as you turned back to the pan, flipping the eggs.
âNah,â he countered, his voice dropping lower as his fingers brushed lightly against the curve of your hip. âYou donât. Youâre just⌠soft. Sexy but softer,â he added, his tone earnest and just a little teasing. You rolled your eyes, unable to stop the smile spreading across your face.Â
âYouâre just saying that because I made breakfast and youâre trying to make sure someâs for you,â you said, though your voice lacked any real conviction. He hummed in response, his lips brushing against the nape of your neck.Â
âNo,â he whispered, his breath sending a shiver down your spine. âI mean it.â For a moment, you just stood there, wrapped in his arms, the warmth of the stove in front of you blending with the heat radiating from him. âBut some is for me though, right?â He asked cheekily and you hummed in response just the same as he did before you both fell into a comfortable silence. The quiet intimacy of the moment felt like a gift, something that needed no words or grand gestures to make it feel special. As you moved to plate the eggs, Trent turned you gently, guiding you to face him.Â
âLeave it,â he said softly, taking the spatula from your hand and placing it on the counter. âBreakfast can wait a minute. Câmere, baby.â He leaned down, brushing his lips against yours in a slow, deliberate kiss that made the room seem even quieter, the world beyond it fading entirely. When he pulled back, his thumb brushed lightly over your cheek as if he couldnât help but touch you.
âYou really think I look good in the morning?â you asked shyly, your voice barely above a whisper. He smiled, his gaze locked on yours, full of something deeper than just affection.Â
âI think you look perfect,â he said simply, his sincerity wrapping around you like a second set of arms. And as the morning light poured in, soft and golden, you couldnât help but feel that maybe, just maybe, this was what happiness felt likeâquiet, warm, and impossibly sweet.Â
The morning sunlight continued to spill softly through the windows as Trent sat at the kitchen table, quietly devouring the breakfast youâd made. You stood nearby, fiddling with the hem of your sleeve of his shirt you had on, feeling a little shy as you tried to muster up the courage to ask him something. It felt strangeâawkward, evenâto invite him into something so meaningless yet so personal to you. But after the night youâd shared and the ease that had returned between you, it felt like the right thing to do.
âHey babyâŚâ You paused. âWould you maybe⌠LikeâŚâ You took another deep breath in an attempt to try to sound more sure of yourself. âDo you want to go for a drive with me?â You finally asked, your voice hesitant. Trent paused mid-bite, looking up at you with a slight tilt of his head, encouraging you to keep going. âYouâre off, and I usually like to go to Formby.â You stumbled over the words, feeling ridiculous as they tumbled out of your mouth. Trent set his fork down, his warm gaze settling on you.Â
âYeah? What do you do there?â he asked, curious and gentle, his mouth quirking up in a half-smile. You felt your cheeks warm as you struggled to explain.Â
âI donât know⌠I just go. Itâs grounding. It helps me reset, I guess,â you admitted, unsure if heâd understand. But he didnât push for more.
âIâll go regardless, pretty girl,â he said with a playful smirk, âjust was curious.â You couldnât help the smile that spread across your face, his easy going nature putting you at ease. Slowly, you stepped closer, wrapping your arms around him from behind, your chin resting on his shoulder. He was warm, solid, and smelled faintly of the cologne heâd sprayed on after his shower. Trent leaned back into your embrace, his hand resting on your arm as he finished chewing. âYouâre good,â he murmured reassuring you, his voice soft. âOkay, if I finish breaky first?â You hummed in agreement, the sound of his voice and the comfort of his presence washing over you. Then, to your surprise, Trent turned slightly in his chair, gently tugging at you. Before you knew it, you were perched on his lap, his arms wrapped securely around your waist. âPerfect. Now I can eat and hold you,â he teased, grinning as he grabbed his fork again. You laughed, tucking your head into the crook of his neck
âMultitasking at its finest,â you joked back, though your heart was swelling with how easy and affectionate he was with you. For a moment, you stayed like thatâwrapped up in each other, the world outside the house feeling like it didnât exist. Youâd never imagined that someone like Trent, someone so chaotic yet grounding, could fit so seamlessly into your quiet moments like this.
âAlright,â he said after a final bite, placing his fork down with a soft clink. He kissed the side of your head, his lips lingering just long enough to send a shiver down your spine. âLetâs get to Formby, yeah?â You smiled against his shoulder, nodding.Â
As you stood in Trentâs room, rifling through the bits of clothing heâd left scattered on the bed, you came to a realizationâyou didnât have anything to put on. A Yves Saint Laurent mini dress was hardly something that you wanted to sit on a cold north western shoreline in. You sighed, holding up one of Trentâs jumpers, oversized and impossibly soft, the faint scent of him clinging to the fabric.you shook your head trying to get away from your nagging thoughts.Â
âIf I wear this, will I look as cool as you?â you teased, turning to face him with a playful smile. Trent glanced up from his phone, his brow raising as he looked you over.Â
âNah⌠probably not,â he replied with a sly grin, leaning back against the doorframe with his arms crossed. Feigning a look of hurt, you clutched the jumper to your chest.
âWow,â you said, your voice dripping with mock offense. He chuckled and pushed off the frame, walking over to you.Â
âIâm kidding. Youâre much cooler, baby,â he admitted, his grin softening as he watched you pull the jumper over your head. You tugged it into place, the hem hitting your thighs as the sleeves engulfed your hands.
âI like this though,â you murmured, adjusting the neckline and pulling it close to your skin. It was comfortable, yes, but it was more than that. It felt like him, and you didnât want to take it off. âCan I wear itâŚjust to the beach?â You asked. Trent hummed as his gaze lingered on you for a moment, his expression shifting into something softer.Â
âCourse. It suits you,â he said quietly. You smiled at his words but couldnât ignore the thought that gnawed at the back of your mind. You wanted to keep it, to have this piece of him to carry with you. But it wasnât like with anyone elseâthis wasnât some casual boy whose clothes you could wear home without question. If you showed up at your house in Trentâs jumper, Jack would undoubtedly have something to say. Trent mustâve seen the flicker of hesitation in your eyes because he stepped closer, his hand reaching out to gently tug at the oversized sleeve. âI know, pretty girl. Weâll figure it out,â he offered simply. You wanted to ask âhow?â so badly, to use this one small thing to help define and clarify your entire relationship. The weight of reality had settled over you like a shadow, the stark reminder of everything complicated about the two of you neatly tucked between moments when it felt like things might finally be working.
âOkay,â you whispered softly, your fingers curling around the hem. You looked up at him, his dark eyes holding yours in a way that made your chest ache. Slowly, you nodded. As you smoothed down the fabric, Trent reached out and tilted your chin up gently with his fingers.Â
âOkayâ he murmured, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his lips, âday by day. Yeah?â He knew that this was more than just some silly jumper. He understood how much this hurt but thatâs all you could do, go day by day. To rush it wasnât smart. It didnât make sense. You rolled your eyes, your heart lighter despite the weight of everything else.Â
âObviously,â you teased, your voice softer than before. And with that, you grabbed your bag, ready to leave pulling the sleeves over your hands feeling like it was something far more significant than just a piece of clothing. Something that tethered you to him, even as the rest of the world threatened to pull you apart.
The beach stretched out in front of you, a vast expanse of cold, pale sand meeting the endless blue-grey of the sea. The wind was brisk but refreshing, carrying the tang of saltwater and the soft cries of distant gulls. You and Trent sat on a low sand dune, the world around you quiet save for the rhythmic crash of waves breaking against the shore. You pulled his jumper over your hands again and dug your barefeet into the sand. Trent shifted beside you, his hands buried in his pockets for warmth. He glanced at you and opened his mouthâŚ
âSo, what doââ He began to speak. You stopped him gently.Â
âT, itâs okay.â your voice was soft but certain. He furrowed his brow, confused for a moment, and you turned to look at him, a small smile tugging at the corner of your lips. âI know you say I yap during movies,â you teased lightly, âbut you yap during moments.â You cooed gently. His mouth curved into a sheepish grin, your voice was quieter now, almost carried away by the wind. âItâs okay to just sit here and breathe.â You gestured to the horizon with a tilt of your head. âBe in the air, take in the sights, really listen to the sounds. Just⌠reset, you know?â Trent didnât respond right away. He turned his attention back to the waves, the tension in his shoulders easing as he absorbed your words but you felt like you needed to explain yourself. âI just need to sit sometimes,â you added, pulling your knees to your chest and hugging them close. Your gaze swept over the sea, the endless ebb and flow grounding you in a way nothing else could. Youâd come to the seaside once a month at least since your mum passed. Your dad used to bring you. You wouldnât talk much but it just gave you two the space you so desperately needed. But even after he stopped going, you kept coming. It felt like home, a place you needed when your house at the time felt so empty. Trent shifted closer, his knee brushing against yours. He didnât speak, and for once, neither did you. The silence wasnât empty; it was fullâfull of the crash of the waves, the rustling of the grass behind you, and the occasional whistle of the wind. You tilted your head to glance at him, and his profile was soft against the muted light of the overcast sky. His lips parted slightly, as if he were about to say something, but then he stopped himself. Instead, he leaned back on his hands, letting his eyes drift back to the horizon.
âReset,â he echoed quietly, almost to himself. You smiled to yourself, turning back to face the waves, letting the cold air bite at your cheeks as the two of you simply sat there. The weight of the world felt lighter, here on the sand dunes, just the two of you, sharing a moment without needing to fill it with anything more than what it already was. The quiet enveloped you again, the wind whistling softly through the dunes, but soon Trentâs question broke the stillness. âBaby⌠what did your mum want you to tell me?â he asked gently, his voice careful but steady, his eyes fixed on you. Your breath caught in your chest, and you felt your heart skip. He felt it last night, you felt it last night, those three words looming. That lingering feeling that stemmed from the book you tried to give him when you attempted to end it all. Of course, heâd ask. It was ominous in a way. Your mum urging you to âtell Trent.â But last night, your first date, you both could feel the words rising in your throats, they were desperate to come out. The love was so obviously there and sleep hadnât cleared any of those feelings away. Trent had a way of seeing through you, even when you tried to bury things deep. The truth lingered just behind your lips, but now didnât feel like the moment to release it.
âErmâŚâ you stalled, looking down at the grains of sand shifting beneath your hands as you thought. âI think she just wanted me to be brave with you,â you finally managed, your voice soft and unsteady. âI donât think it was anything too specific.â It wasnât a lie. But it wasn't the truth, and you both knew it. You loved Trent for years and long before this happened even your mum could see that. Trent just couldnât be the one to cross that line. He couldnât do it to Jack, he couldnât put you in that position, he needed you to do it, needed to hear you say it. The look in his eyes told you he could see right through the veil of your words, but he didnât press. Instead, he hummed softly, acknowledging the lie but choosing to let it rest for now.
âI remember once,â you began, your voice somehow even quieter now, as if sharing a memory you rarely spoke about, âI told my mum about how nice you were to me one afternoon. We were teenagers, and you bought me a hot chocolate while at a christmas market.â You smiled faintly at the memory, as Trentâs thumb brushed over your arm absently. âShe asked me if I told you that. How much it meant.â You cooed.
âDid you?â He turned to look at you, curious. You shook your head with a small, rueful laugh.Â
âNo. When I said I hadnât, she told me, âEveryone likes to know theyâre⌠appreciated.â I still think about that now.â You could hear your mumâs voice as you spoke her words. She didnât say âappreciatedâ though, she had said âlovedâ but you couldnât get that word out. His lips curved into a soft smile as you glanced at him. âI wish Iâd taken her advice then,â you admitted, the weight of your words carrying something more. âI wish I told her more. I wish I told you more.â You sighed. You lowered your eyes, the guilt of unsaid things knotting in your chest.Â
âBabyâŚâHe exhaled as his arm tightened around you, pulling you closer as he pressed a kiss to your temple. The warmth of his lips against your skin made your eyes sting with tears. âItâs okay,â he murmured against your hair, his voice barely above a whisper. âI knew⌠and she definitely knew.â The words settled in your heart, bittersweet but comforting. You leaned into him, your head resting against his shoulder as the waves crashed in the distance. Neither of you spoke again for a while, but his arm stayed firmly around you, a silent promise that in this moment, you werenât alone.
The drive away from the beach was quiet, but your mind was anything but. The ache in your chest was sharp and persistent, the kind that comes from confusion and longing tangled together. You loved Trentâyou knew you loved him. So why couldnât you just say it? Unfortunately, you knew why. You were terrified he didnât feel the same. Terrified that once the words were out, the delicate balance youâd built together would crumble.
As the car came to a stop in his driveway, you peeled off the jumper youâd borrowed, the familiar fabric suddenly feeling too heavy on your skin. It hurtâgiving it back hurtâlike you were handing over a piece of him that you werenât sure youâd get to keep. Trent wasnât sure what to say because there was nothing to say to fix this⌠there were only things he could do to fix it. Trent turned to you, his eyes soft but filled with unspoken things. He didnât take the jumper from you immediately, instead reaching out to pull you toward him, his hand firm on your hip. The motion was gentle but insistent, and before you could think, his forehead was pressed to yours.
âIâm gonna make us work, okay?â he said, his voice low and steady, a conviction behind his words that sent a shiver down your spine. You nodded, the lump in your throat making it hard to do anything else. A sniffle escaped, and he caught it, brushing a thumb across your cheek before pulling you into him for a brief, grounding hug. Believing him was all you could do because it was all you wanted. Youâd dreamed of this for years, and now it was here, fragile and imperfect, but here. When the car service pulled into the driveway, your heart sank further. This wasnât how you imagined the evening ending. Trent wanted to bring you home, you could see it in the way his eyes flickered with frustration. But you had told him it was fine, and it was. Jack would be at your place, and it just wasnât the timeânot yet. He didnât argue, though you could feel the tension radiating off him as he walked you to the car. Before you slid inside, he kissed you in the driveway. It wasnât a quick, casual goodbye; it was all-consuming. The kind of kiss that stole your breath, that made you feel like the ground beneath you didnât exist. You clung to him for a moment, wishing the car would disappear, wishing you could just stay wrapped in him and let everything else fade away. But eventually, you pulled back, his hands reluctantly dropping to his sides. As you slid into the back seat of the car, the cool leather of the seats pressed against your bare thighs, a harsh reminder of reality. Through the window, you caught one last look at himâstanding there, hands in his pockets, watching as the car pulled away. He looked as reluctant to let you go as you felt. The ache in your chest deepened, but somewhere in the back of your mind, his words echoed. And you had to hold onto that because it was the only thing keeping the ache from completely taking over.
You walked into the kitchen after a shower late in the day, the faint hum of voices reaching your ears as you approached. Jack was just ending a phone call, his tone sounded curt.
âAlright, mate. Talk later,â he said and hung up. Across the room, Noah sat at the island, casually picking at a plate of food, his posture relaxed as though heâd been there for a while. Jack turned to Noah with a furrowed brow, a look of mild irritation shadowing his face. âHave you heard anything from Trentski lately?â he asked, leaning against the counter with crossed arms.
âNot too much. Why?â Noah shrugged, chewing slowly, his mouth full mumbling his words together.
âHeâs been off with me,â Jack said, his voice edged with frustration. âEven just now on the phone, he sounded so⌠standoffish. Heâs been like this for a while now. I donât know what his problem is.â You froze mid-step, pretending to fidget with something on the counter as you silently listened. Your pulse quickened, and you avoided meeting their eyes, praying your face wouldnât betray you. Noah tilted his head thoughtfully.Â
âYeah, he has been a bit off,â he said, as if just realizing it himself. âBut, you know Trent. The only time he ever really retreats like this is when heâs being pissy about something. Heâs not an open book.â Noah smirked looking for a joke. But Jack only sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.Â
âRight? But, bro, it feels targeted at me⌠like if Iâve done something lad, just say it. But no, he has to act all cryptic and moody. Whatâs his deal?â Jack asked openly, getting a bit frustrated with Trentâs growing resistance towards him. Where did his best friend go? Noah hesitated, a small smirk pulling at his lips before he continued.
âWell⌠I mean, I did hear him talking with someone the other night,â he said casually, leaning back in his chair. Jack perked up.Â
âWhat do you mean? Like on the phone?â He asked earnestly.
âYeah, mate,â Noah replied, shaking his head in disbelief recalling the scene. âIt was when we were all over at my place for that movie night. He stepped into the kitchen and I walked in on him on the phone. He was talking to a girlâbut it was clearly more than some link to him.â Your stomach dropped, the knot of anxiety in your chest tightening. You wondered if this was the call with you. You assumed it was unless he had called someone after for reprieve. Youâd hoped not, so you listened carefully. You kept your movements deliberate and slow, opening a cupboard and pretending to inspect its contents, though you were barely processing what was in front of you.
âA girl?â Jack asked, raising an eyebrow. Noah nodded.Â
âBroâŚ.â he cautioned him as if to prepare Jack for how Trent was acting on this call. âYeah, mate. And he sounded different, tooâlike⌠nervous. Almost sweet, if you can believe it. I didnât think much of it, he was being sus, wouldnât let me in but now? I dunno, I think Trentâs in deep thatâs why heâs not around.â He explained.
âIn deep?â Jack repeated, laughing. âCome on, mate. Itâs Trent. The guy doesnât do deep.â Noah laughed along with him.
âThatâs what I thought so it didnât track at first. I just couldnât wrap my head around it - where did he find a bird heâs like this with. But Iâm serious. I think heâs caught feelings. Jack⌠mate, I mean it, from what I witnessed he might even have proper feelings for this girl. He was a mess.â Noah laughed reminiscing on the sheer joy he felt watching ever composed Trent fumble over his words on the phone. But then the two of them burst out laughing, the idea seemingly too absurd for them to fathom.Â
âNah, not Trenty. Not a chance.â Jack shook his head, still chuckling. âWe would've met the girl,â he added. But their laughter barely registered as your heart sank. Their words lingered, each one hitting you like a stone sinking deeper into the pit of your stomach. You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks, and your hands trembled slightly as you gripped the counter. You glanced over your shoulder just enough to catch Jack shaking his head again. âHeâd tell me if it was serious,â he said, his voice confident. âWouldnât he?â Noah shrugged noncommittally, and Jack turned his attention back to whatever was in front of him. You couldnât shake the weight pressing down on your chest, the mix of emotions swirling inside youâfear, guilt, and a growing sense of hopelessness. The way they dismissed the idea of Trent being in love felt like a slap to the face, a cruel reminder of how precarious everything had been and yet simultaneously how meaningless. Would this ultimately just end up being a secret youâd have to take to the grave, the few months you got with your brotherâs best friend. It all made you so angry. You wanted to scream, to storm out of the kitchen, to do something, anything, but instead, you stayed frozen in place, clinging to the façade that nothing was wrong. You reached up to grab a glass from the cabinet, trying to keep your movements calm and steady despite the weight of their conversation. Jack, leaning against the island, folded his arms as he pressed further. âWas it that girl Jess?â he asked, his tone sharp. âYou know, Megâs friend, the last one he was hooking up with? She was around his for a bit, wasnât she?â The mention of another nameâJessâhad your stomach twisting in knots, the glass slipping from your fingers. It shattered against the tile floor, the loud crash jolting all three of you. âJesus, Y/N!â Jack whipped around, his eyes wide with alarm. âYou good?â He asked with genuine concern looking at the shards scattered around your feet. A visual representation of your life at the minute, he could never understand.
âSorry!â you stammered, kneeling quickly to pick up the pieces, your hands shaking. âI wasnât paying attention. Sorry, sorry Iâll clean it up.â You babbled nervously as your hands shook. Jack rolled his eyes, muttering something about you being careless, while Noah leaned over slightly, glancing down at you. He tried to move the conversation forward, his voice lighthearted as if to brush past your blunder. Nothing too deep, people drop things.
âNah, it wasnât Jess,â Noah said, laughing a little as he kept picking at his food. âThis girl has him fucked up, mate. Like, completely different vibe.â He explained.
âWhat do you mean?â Jackâs interest was piqued.Â
âI mean,â Noah began, leaning back in his chair, âI heard him that night. He wasnât just trying to get her to come over. He was begging for her to stay. He sounded desperate, almost scared she wouldnât. Iâm telling you mate. He was a mess.â Noah further explained to Jack. You froze, your breath catching in your throat as the words sank in. The shards of glass in your hand suddenly felt sharper, more dangerous. Noah continued, oblivious to the effect his words were having on you. âApparently, this is the girl, mate. He told me, like, the one. Dream girl status. Heâs in love with her.â Noah emphasized word. The idea of love sent a shockwave through you.Â
âFuck.â You whimpered carelessly as your hand slipped against a jagged edge of glass, and you winced as a sharp sting sliced through your skin.
âShit, Y/N!â Noah exclaimed, leaning forward. âYou alright?â You nodded quickly, shaking your head as if to clear the haze in your mind.
âIâm fine,â you said, your voice unsteady. âJustâjust a little cut. Iâll clean it up.â
âYouâre bleeding everywhere,â Jack said, grabbing a tea towel and tossing it in your direction quickly, nervous you might bleed out by the time he got over to you. âBe careful, for fuckâs sake. You promise youâre okay?â He asked seriously, moving towards you now faster from the other side of the room. Noah still looked concerned, but you waved them both off, standing up and wrapping your finger in the towel.Â
âItâs nothing,â you mumbled, grabbing the broom with your uninjured hand. âIâve got it.â You waved Jack off so he gave you the space. But your mind wasnât on the mess. It was on Noahâs words. Trent was in love? The realization hit you like a punch to the gut, leaving you dizzy and disoriented. Could it really be you he was talking about? Noah knew Trent like the back of his hand⌠heâd know how Trent really felt about someone. Was this the call with you⌠or maybe worse, was this a call with someone elseâsomeone like Jess, someone who wasnât tangled up in a web of secrets and guilt? You stole a glance at Jack, who was already back distracted by his phone, completely unaware of the storm raging inside you. Noah, meanwhile, had gone back to his food, the conversation now drifting into casual banter. But you couldnât focus. All you could think about was Trent. Was this real? Could he really feel that way about you? And if he did⌠what did it mean for everything else? For Jack? For you? You swallowed hard, the cut on your finger forgotten as the weight of it all settled on your chest.
The boy Devon, the Manchester United player, Joshâs friend, that you spotted at dinner wasted no time, spinning the scene heâd witnessed like a web of intrigue. Seeing you and Trent at dinner together had been unexpected, even puzzling. On its own, it mightâve been easily dismissedâafter all, you and Trent had history, you knew each other through Jack and people could convince themselves it was merely friendly. But there was something about the way Trent looked at you that night, a softness, a protectiveness that the boy hadnât missed. It planted a seed, one that began to grow in the back of his mind and one he was ready to share with your ex. When saw Josh next, he was ready for his opportunity to stir the pot
âYouâll never guess who I saw the other night,â Devon said, leaning against a locker with a smirk. âMate⌠Y/N L/N and Trent Alexander-Arnold. At dinner.â Joshâs head whipped around at the mention of your name.Â
âWhat?â he asked sharply, his voice betraying a flicker of interest despite himself.
âAt dinner,â Devon repeated, dragging it out for effect. âLooked cozy too. Candlelit table, just the two of them.â Josh frowned, his jaw tightening.Â
âCâmon. Bro, I know I said shit about her before but theyâre friends. Sheâs Jackâs sister. Thatâs been her thing for years. Heâs never gone for it.â Josh explained having a hard time wrapping his head around it. He knew you wanted Trent, he could even see the way Trent wanted you but it actually happening⌠and not behind closed doors? Out in public? It seemed so farfetched.
âMaybe,â Devon said with a shrug, though his smirk didnât waver. âBut you know, sometimes even the nice ones⌠snap. He didnât look like a âjust friendsâ kind of guy to me. Looked like he finally realized what was right in front of him.â He smugly told Josh. Josh tried to laugh it off, but there was an edge to it, sharp and bitter.Â
âWhatever, mate. Sheâs not my problem anymore.â He muttered.
âSure,â Devon replied smoothly, though he didnât believe it for a second. He could see the flicker of annoyance in Joshâs eyes, the remnants of a claim Josh still felt over you, no matter how fractured things had been between you. âSo you wouldnât believe a photo of them then?â Devon smirked flashing him the photo he took on his screen. Josh jumped to grab the phone, shocked. He inspected the photo fuming. Devon snatched his phone back out of his hands âLooks pretty fucking friendly to me, mate.â He smugly laughed as he turned to leave the room. But Josh couldnât leave it there, he had seen it, he needed more information, he needed more⌠ammunition. As Devon walked away, his words echoed in Joshâs mind. Trent and Y/N? At dinner? It was almost laughable, except it wasnât. Josh had known you long enough to know how deep your feelings for Trent ran, even when you tried to hide it. And if Trent had finally reciprocated? He hated the thought, he hated the photo, he hated that Trentâs waiting game won out. It made him sick. He pushed you to Trent and then as a lump formed in his throat, his anger towards you shoved it down. He hated you for choosing Trent. Cynicism crept in, laced with exasperation and a thirst for vengeance. He remembered the sting of your split, the way things ended and why, and how easily you seemed to fall into the waiting arms of Trentâat least in his eyes. And now, you two were parading around together? It wasnât about love or loss anymore. It was about pride, about the idea of someone like Trent waltzing into his old territory without so much as a second thought. Josh began to piece together a plan. If Trent thought he could take you out of Joshâs life and into his unnoticed, he was wrong. And if you thought this could stay secret, you were wrong too. A wicked grin spread across Joshâs face as he envisioned the chaos it might cause when Jack found out. How much it would hurt you, hurt Trent. He didnât care if he and Devon were wrong, if it was just âfriendly.â The perception alone would be enough. Josh grabbed his phone, thumbing through his contacts until he landed on Jackâs name. He didnât press callânot yet. He needed to get the photo first and timing was everything, and he intended to make sure this landed perfectly. After all, what better way to even the score than to drop a bombshell like this?
The gossip about Trent seeing someone began to brew more and more each day. Evidently, seeping beyond just Jack and Noah but into other friend groups. You were out at the shops just stopping to pick up a few things when you spotted Megan and Jess as you rounded the corner of the produce aisle, their voices reaching you before their faces did. Megan was pleasant, flashing you a smile when she saw you, but Jessâs expression was harder to read. Her eyes lingered on you, sharp and curious, as if she was sizing you up.
âY/N!â Megan greeted, her tone light and cheerful. âDidnât expect to see you here. Havenât seen you in a minute, probably since the other week at the birthday.â You offered a polite smile, adjusting the strap of your bag on your shoulder.
âYeah, course. Hi. Iâm just picking up a few things.â You cooed softly. The conversation started innocently enough. Megan talked about Jack, about her plans for the weekend, and you nodded along, trying to keep your responses short. But then, the conversation shifted.
âSo,â Megan said casually, âweâve heard rumblings that Trentâs seeing someone.â Her words hit you like a freight train. A part of you was instinctively annoyed at your brother just imagining him complaining to Megan about Trent and relaying Noahâs information spilled in the kitchen. You didnât know if that was who told her but you could imagine. Your grip on your bag tightened, but you forced your face to remain neutral.Â
âYeah? I wouldnât know,â you said quickly, hoping the lie sounded believable.
âHmm,â Jess hummed, a small smirk tugging at her lips. Her skepticism was evident, and you could feel her eyes burning into you. She didnât believe you for a second. Megan tilted her head, clearly confused by your answer.Â
âI mean, you two are close though, arenât you? Youâre always with the boys! I feel like youâd hear or Iâd think heâd tell you even.â She smiled sincerely. If Megan was being honest she knew you had a crush on Trent, it was glaringly obvious but she wasnât going to hurt you and call you out on it. Besides, her friend Jess liked him, she was just looking for intel. You hesitated, trying to keep your voice steady.Â
âI guess⌠I mean, if he wasnât, Iâm sure heâd reach out or something. I donât really know whatâs going on with him right now.â You babbled awkwardly. You didnât know what to say really. But what you did sayâŚwas a rookie mistake. You realized it the moment the words left your mouth. Jessâs smirk widened, and Meganâs eyebrows shot up.
âSo he is seeing someone,â Megan said slowly, her confusion deepening. âBecause he definitely hasnât reached out to Jess.â She glanced at her friend, then back at you, as if trying to piece together a puzzle. Megan knew you liked Trent but from the lens of a little sister liking her older brotherâs friend- nothing more. She wasnât being cynical or mean she was just looking for information. And right now she was with Jess, who hadnât shut up about Trent falling off the grid for months. Your cheeks burned, and you felt your chest tighten. You opened your mouth to respond, but no words came. Instead, you fumbled with your shopping bags, pretending they were suddenly too heavy to manage.
âErm, I really donât know,â you said, your voice shaky. âSorry, Iâve got to goârunning late.â Without waiting for a response, you darted away, your heart pounding as you put as much distance between yourself and them as possible. You could feel their eyes on you as you turned the corner, and you didnât dare look back. The encounter left you rattled. You gripped your bags tightly, replaying the exchange in your head as you hurried down the street, your heart pounding. Meganâs raised eyebrows, Jessâs sharp, knowing glancesâit all felt like a storm you werenât prepared for. Their words echoed in your mind. âSo heâs seeing someone.â They didnât know it was you, but the realization and possibility that they were piecing it together made your stomach churn. Jessâs skepticism had been palpable, her eyes narrowing like she already suspected the truth but was waiting for you to slip. You sighed as you reached your car, fumbling with the keys. Why had you even tried to lie? It wasnât like you were good at it, and the awkward babbling only made things worse. But what were you supposed to do? Confirm it? Out yourself? Out Trent? That wasnât an option either. But why did he want it secret? You guessed it was good Jess hadnât heard from him. But how long had it been? Was there in overlap? As you sat in the driverâs seat, gripping the steering wheel, you couldnât shake the feeling that the walls were closing in. The more the gossip spread, the harder it would be to keep your relationship under wraps. The thought of Jack finding out this wayâthrough whispers and rumorsâmade you feel sick.
You thought about texting Trent, maybe to warn him or just to vent, but even that felt risky. Instead, you took a deep breath and tried to steady yourself. This was the price of keeping things a secret, wasnât it? The constant worry, the careful balancing act, the fear that one slip could send it all crashing down. And yet, despite it all, you knew you couldnât stay away from him. Trent was worth it. At least, you hoped he was. You hoped he thought the same about you, that he wouldnât falter under the pressure building around you both. As you pulled out of the parking lot, you tried to shake off the anxiety, telling yourself it would all blow over. But deep down, you knew this was only the beginning. The gossip wasnât going to stop, and neither, it seemed, was the tension.
It felt surreal, wearing Trentâs jersey to a home game at Anfield. Heâd given it to you weeks ago, but when you finally were all going to a match, he officially asked you to wear it tonight, it felt differentâmore deliberate, more intimate. The weight of it wasnât just fabric; it was a claim, a silent declaration that you were his. The box was buzzing with energy as you sat with Jack, Noah, Layla, Megan, Trentâs family, and more of their friends, all of them in good spirits after the game started. But the teasing was relentless, especially from Noah.
âBig statement, Y/N,â he quipped, eyeing the bolded double barreled surname and number on your back. Everyoneâs eyes flickered towards you as you took off your coat. You rolled your eyes.Â
âWait⌠When did you get the new kit? What the fuck⌠I wanted one.â Jack snapped annoyed. But then Megan spoke over him. She leaned over squeezing your leg kindly.Â
âDonât let the cameras catch that. Youâll start rumors.â Megan laughed as Noah chuckled, shaking his head. You forced a laugh, shrugging off their remarks, but your cheeks burned under their scrutiny. You turned to continue your conversation with Layla praying theyâd drop the whole thing. They had no idea what the jersey truly meant, and part of you relished that secrecy, even as you squirmed under their playful jabs.Â
The game flew by in a blur of cheering, tension, and stolen glances at the man on the pitch. Trent looked up toward the box once or twice, and though his focus remained on the match, you could feel his presence even from afar. It wasnât just a jersey; it was a tether, a connection that made your chest swell with pride every time his name echoed through the stadium. When the final whistle blew and the crowd erupted but then a bit after that⌠your phone buzzed quietly in your lap.
'Meet me outside the box. I need to see you properly in that kit, baby.'
Your heart skipped, and you swallowed down a smile. Glancing around, you tried to look nonchalant as you slipped your phone into your pocket and stood.
âIâll be right back,â you said casually, already heading toward the door. âBathroom or something.â Jack barely acknowledged you, too wrapped up in conversation with Megan and their friends. Layla smirked as you stepped out of the box and into the quieter halls, your footsteps quickening as you made your way to the exit. The moment you saw him coming down the corridor, your heart skipped. He looked effortlessly striking in his tracksuit, exhaustion etched across his features, but the instant his eyes landed on you, a flash of pure happiness lit up his face. Before you could say a word, he closed the distance, pulling you into his arms in a tight, possessive embrace. His warmth surrounded you, and you buried your face into the curve of his neck, inhaling the familiar, comforting scent of him.Â
"You played so well," you murmured, your words muffled by his skin as you pressed soft kisses to his neck.
"Yeah?" he asked, his voice low and filled with something deeper. His hands came up to gently cup your face, tilting it so your eyes met.
"Yeah," you confirmed with a shy smile. "Were you trying to impress someone?" you teased, watching as his lips curved into a smirk.
"Maybe," he said, his thumb brushing along your cheek. "Depends. Did I?" He asked. You giggled, nodding as your arms looped around his waist. His hands slid down your sides, firm and deliberate, until they rested on your hips. He tugged you closer, the heat of his body sending a rush of warmth through you. "You look so good tonight," he said, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. His eyes dropped to the jersey you wore-his jerseyâand his fingers toyed with the hem. "Fuck me, I like you in this. But I wish I wasn't absolutely knackered, 'cause all I can think about is taking it off you." A teasing grin tugged at your lips as you slipped your hands around his waist, finding the drawstrings of his joggers.Â
"I can take care of you tonight, donât worry, baby," you whispered, your fingers grazing his skin beneath the fabric. "I could even take this off for you." His breath hitched, and he hummed appreciatively, leaning down to press his lips to your neck. His kisses were lazy, languid, and filled with an unspoken promise. He bit down gently, making you gasp, before soothing the spot with his tongue.
"Keep talking like that, and weâre gonna leave right now," he murmured against your skin, his hands slipping under the hem of the jersey to brush against your bare back. You laughed softly, reluctantly pulling back.Â
"We should go back inside before they come looking for us." you smiled sympathetically at him. He groaned, his forehead resting against yours.
"You're lucky I'm too tired otherwise youâd be halfway to my bed right now" he teased, but his hands lingered on your hips as you pulled away.Â
âIâll be in your bed in a bit, okay?â You smirked with a cheeky grin. He hummed in response as you turned, his eyes watching your every move like you were the only thing in the world he needed. As you both made your way back to the suite, you couldn't help but feel the imprint of his touch, every whisper of his affection lingering on your skin.
After the match, the usual buzz of a big win had everyone making loose plans to head out, but Trentâs firm 'nah' shifted the momentum. Slowly, the group began to disband, everyone falling back into their own routines. You lingered in the suite as people trickled out, catching Trentâs eye. When you leaned in to hug him goodbye, you buried your face into his neck, the familiar warmth and scent of him grounding you.Â
âStill want me to come over, or are you too tired?â You asked softly, whispering into his ear. He hummed against your hair, his voice low and barely audible.Â
âMmhmm please.â The moment stretched just a little too long, just a little too close, and when you finally pulled back, it was enough for Noah to pipe up.
âErmmm⌠that was fucking weird, bro. Let go of her,â he laughed, his voice breaking the intimate bubble youâd created with Trent. You tried to play it cool, smoothing your expression.Â
âWhat? A cuddle?â you said, feigning innocence.
âYeah,â he laughed with Noah. âY/N, are you drunk?â Jack asked you jokingly citing the only time you and Trent were that affectionate was at parties after tequila shots and lowered inhibitions. He leaned against Megan with a raised brow. âWhy are you throwing yourself at him like that?â He asked a bit more earnestly and the tension sharpened, the air suddenly heavy. You could feel the blood rush to your cheeks, but before you could scramble for a response, Layla swooped in.
âJesus, just kiss already,â she teased, swatting playfully at Trent with an exaggerated roll of her eyes. Her comment hit like a match to dry kindling. The room erupted in laughter, the tension instantly diffused. You shot her a grateful smile as she grinned back knowingly. âComing to stay with me tonight,â Layla said, still half-laughing but with a subtle edge of sincerity, offering the perfect cover. âWeâll have a girlsâ night. Do a face mask or whatever.â Trent smirked but said nothing, letting Laylaâs quick wit take the spotlight. The group moved on, their teasing fading as they returned to casual chatter. The room felt lighter again, and you knew you owed Layla for smoothing over what couldâve been a minefield. As everyone packed up and started heading out, Trent caught your eye again, a quiet promise lingering between you both.
The drive home was quiet at first, the soft hum of the radio filling the silence between you and Layla. But you could feel her glances, her curiosity practically brimming over.
âSo⌠whatâs going on with you and Trent? Post-date, I mean.â She finally asked. You sighed, resting your head against the window.Â
âIt was meant to be good,â you began, your voice low, âbut it feels just like before, especially tonight. Just hidden. I thought we were ready to move forward, you know?â Layla frowned, her tone gentle but probing.Â
âSo whatâs stopping you?â You hesitated, the words heavy on your tongue.Â
âI donât know,â you admitted. âLay, what if I donât want it? Not like this. Sometimes⌠sometimes I feel like Iâm the one pulling him into the shadows, like weâre both doing this to each other. Hiding. Like heâs subtle but Iâm⌠hiding. And now, with Joshâs friend Devon⌠seeing us at dinnerâGod, Iâm terrified.â Her face softened as she glanced at you, one hand briefly leaving the wheel to give your knee a reassuring squeeze.
âItâll be okay,â she said gently. âItâs just going to take time, yeah? You and Trent have always had this⌠thing. You guys have communicated so long with no words, going off glances but now⌠things have to change. Youâll figure it out.â You nodded, but her words only soothed the surface. The knots in your stomach refused to untangle. By the time you arrived at Trentâs house, the air between you and him felt thick. Not with angerâno, it wasnât thatâbut with emotion. Too much, all at once.
The tension wasnât hostile, but it was heavy. You both cared so deeply for one another, but the weight of it was beginning to show, even behind closed doors where no one else could see. When you crawled into bed with him that night, there was no talk of passion or promises. No desperate moves to bridge the gap between your feelings and your fears. Instead, you simply held each other. His arms wrapped around you, pulling you close as he tucked his chin over your head.Â
âIâve got you,â he whispered, his voice a low murmur. You didnât respond, but you didnât need to. You nestled into him, letting his warmth soothe the ache in your chest. Everything about that moment should have been perfect. The way his heartbeat steadied your breathing, the way his hands absentmindedly rubbed circles into your back. And yet, nothing was. You fell asleep tangled together, but the ache of what wasnât said lingered.
Noah was throwing a party. He had tossed you and Layla the usual invites youâd come to expect to receive. The music pulsed through his house, spilling out onto the lawn as you and Layla stepped inside. The scene was much bigger than you anticipatedâpeople were crammed into every corner, the laughter and chatter nearly deafening. Layla raised a skeptical brow as you glanced at each other. You shrugged. Noahâs usual âsmall gatheringâ had clearly spiraled into something else.
âAye, you alright?â Trentâs voice cut through the crowd. He spotted you almost immediately, a grin spreading across his face. Youâd been texting all day, but nothing substantial had changed between you. The limbo of your relationship was still palpable, and yet, seeing him now, your heart skipped a beat.
âYeah, all good,â you replied sweetly with a small smile, though you couldnât ignore the butterflies in your stomach. Layla folded her arms, glancing around at the sheer number of people.Â
âDidnât know the whole squad would be here,â she muttered, clearly unimpressed. Trent gave her a cheeky hug, a quick and friendly gesture, before turning his attention fully to you. His arms wrapped around you in a much tighter, longer embrace, swaying slightly with a hum as he leaned into you. His scentâfaint cologne mixed with the sharp tang of alcoholâwas intoxicating.
âMissed you, baby,â you whispered in his ear, your teeth pulling on his earlobe, your words soft, just for him. Before you could step back, he tightened his grip, pulling you impossibly closer. His lips brushed against your ear, and he murmured something low, too quiet for anyone else to hear.
âLook so sexy. Gonna let me fuck you in the toilet again, yeah?â He cheekily whispered. It was more of a tease then an actual ask but then again, maybe it wasnât. Your eyes widened briefly at his words, but you nodded, the corners of your mouth twitching into a smile. Layla tugged at the back of your top, signaling for you to let go of him, because you had no plans to, but you barely moved. Trentâs arms lingered around you for just a moment longer before he reluctantly pulled away, a satisfied smirk on his lips as he met your gaze one last time.
âWhat did he say?â Layla asked under her breath, watching you carefully. You shook your head with a small laugh, brushing it off.Â
âNothing,â you lied, though your cheeks betrayed you with a warm flush. Layla gave you a knowing look but didnât press further, letting the moment settle as the party surged on around you.Â
Trent stood slightly off to the side of his friends, arms crossed and his focus split. Noah was with him, cracking jokes as always, but the boy beside themâBaileyâwas an unfamiliar face, part of a wider circle of acquaintances that Trent didnât know well. What started as idle conversation quickly shifted the moment Baileyâs attention landed on you across the room.Baileyâs jaw slackened, his eyes fixed on you in a way that made Trentâs stomach churn. His discomfort was immediate, though he kept his face neutral, following Baileyâs gaze. You were talking to Layla, smiling brightly, your hand gesturing animatedly as you spoke.
âSheâs certainly not ugly,â Noah noticing, quipped with a laugh, slapping Bailey on the back.
âSheâs so fit, mate,â Bailey added, his voice dripping with awe. âFucks sake, mate. Any of you get with her?â Trentâs jaw tightened at the audacity of the question, but Noahâalways quick to stir the potâgrinned and threw in a jab.
âTrenty wishes,â Noah smirked, throwing a few playful punches at Trentâs arm. âBut heâs got a new bird now apparently. So whatâs going on there with Y/N then? I thought you'd take her up on the offer eventually.â
âNah, donât say that. Jack would kill me, you know that,â Trent shot back quickly, his voice steady despite the unease settling in his chest. He knew bringing up Jack was the easiest way to shut the conversation down, but it wasnât the full truth. Bailey frowned, looking between them in confusion.Â
âYou lot donât think about her that way?â he asked, incredulous.
âI mean, course,â Trent admitted instinctively fast and drunkenly, the words slipping out before he could stop them. He immediately wanted to hit himself. Noah, catching the crack in Trentâs usual composure, smirked smugly.Â
âJackâs not here tonight, lad. Itâs your limited window. Youâre telling me you donât notice the way she acts around you? Notice the way she looks?â Noahâs cheek was growing and Trenât resolve was dwindling. He let out a long sigh, his gaze drifting back to you as you tilted your head back with a laugh at something Layla said. The warm overhead lights danced over your skin, making you look radiant. His chest ached with longing, the lie he lived burning in his throat.
âI mean, yeah. Sheâs beautiful,â Trent said softly, almost to himself.
âBeautiful?â Bailey barked out a laugh. âSheâs fucking fit. Got a body on her.â Trentâs jaw clenched so hard it hurt as he scanned your body over the same way Bailey was, from the tip of your boots to the top of your head, desire on both of their minds.
âErm, yeah, mate.â Trentâs eyes narrowed. âSheâs something,â he said quietly, shaking his head in frustration. Noah, sensing the tension, pressed further, his voice full of teasing delight.
âTrent knows her well,â he told Bailey, grinning. Trent scoffed, trying to brush it off. âYou do!â Noah yelped. âBro, youâre the only one she sits with. The only one she lets touch her. And no one says anything. Câmon, Trenty, stop playing nice. Tell the lad about her.â Noah prodded pushing Trent to tell Bailey how great you were knowing itâd be hard for him.Â
âNah, mate. I guess, I donât know,â Trent muttered, forcing the words out in a desperate attempt to end the conversation. But his chest tightened, the weight of his feelingsâso much more than Noah or Bailey could understandâbearing down on him. Just then, their other friend, Aidan, walked over, draping an arm around Trent. The distraction was welcome, but it didnât erase the pit of frustration and yearning brewing inside him. He couldnât stand this conversation, couldnât stand Baileyâs gawking, couldnât stand the charade. Trentâs eyes flicked back to you, his heart thudding as he watched you smile. You were oblivious to the storm swirling in him, but he couldnât stop himself from feeling like tonight was another reminder of just how much he hated hiding.
âWe talking Jackâs sister? Yeah, I wonât lie boys, sheâs leng. Come on, you know sheâs good in bed as well,â Aidan added casually, his voice slurring slightly with the weight of too many drinks. Trent winced, the comment hitting him like a sharp jab.
âWhat? Have you?â he asked, his tone panicked and defensive, betraying the calm facade heâd been trying to maintain.
âNo, I wish,â Aidan laughed, oblivious to Trentâs reaction. âI mean, you can just tell though.â
âYeah, you can tell,â Bailey chimed in with a smirk, his eyes lingering on you from across the room. âBut mate, it seems like sheâs into you. I saw you hug her when she came in.â Trentâs heart rate picked up, and he struggled to keep his expression neutral.
âProbably the only one sheâd let have a cuddle in that fit,â Noah laughed, throwing fuel on the fire watching you adjust the hem of your mini skirt knowing youâd wouldn't let just any boy put their hands on you when you were out.
âI donât know how you practice this much restraint if you're already in,â Bailey said, shaking his head in disbelief. Trent swallowed hard, his jaw clenching as Aidan cut back in, leaning slightly closer to Trent as if to confide some secret.
âSeriously, I donât know how you do it, bro. She always struts around us in nothing." He then looked at Noah and Bailey. "I think she likes the attention, but we all know she likes Trentyâs attention the most.â The words twisted in Trentâs gut like a knife. He hated the way they spoke about you, the casual objectification of someone they knew so well yet also barely knew beyond the surface, the way he did.
âEh, donât know lads. Sheâs just chill. I donât think she thinks about it,â Trent said, forcing his voice to stay steady.
âCome on,â Noah rolled his eyes, annoyed that even in his drunk state, Trent wouldnât falter. But Trent couldnât falter, not here, not now. He knew the boys had always talked shit like this at parties, tossing your name into the mix like you were some topic for debate. Normally, he brushed it off, participating but choosing to stay silent when it came to you rather than feed into it. But tonight, it felt different. The way they lingered, the way they openly dissected the dynamics between you and himâit was too real, too close to everything he was trying so hard to protect. The bitterness welled up in his chest, the laughter around him grating on his nerves. He wanted to say something, to shut it down, but any slip of the truth would only add more fuel to their relentless teasing. So instead, he stood there, silent, his fists clenching at his sides, wishing he could pull you out of this party and into a space where none of these people and their drunken commentary could touch you.
You caught Trentâs gaze across the room, and the intensity of his stare made your cheeks flush. His lips quirked into a soft smile, but the cool, effortless demeanor he carried around everyone else seemed to dissolve under your gaze. Layla caught the exchange instantly, smirking as she raised her hand in an exaggerated wave at him. Trent waved back with a charm that felt deliberate, but even Layla could tell he was unraveling.
âGod, youâve got him absolutely gone,â she teased, nudging you with her shoulder. âWhatever you do in bed with him has him a mess. He canât even pretend anymore, before at least he had a poker face.â She laughed. You rolled your eyes, but the warmth spreading through your chest was undeniable.
âCome on,â you said, grabbing Laylaâs hand and weaving through the crowded room toward the boys.
âHiyaaa!â Layla purred as you reached the group, giving Noah and Aidan hugs and introducing herself to Bailey with her usual flair. But before you could even exchange pleasantries, Trent was there, sliding his arm around your waist in a way that was both subtle and unmistakably possessive, keeping you from getting even in touching distance of the other boys. His fingers dipped into the back of your skirt refusing to let you even try to create space between you. The contact sent a shiver through you, grounding you in his presence. You leaned into him not wanting any space, your lips brushing against the shell of his ear as you whispered something cheeky, just for him. Whatever you said made his grin spread wider, his confidence returning as he pulled you closer.
âGonna drive you home, hmm?â he murmured aloud, his voice low but loud enough for the others to hear. It was casual, a simple blanket statement, that heâd said a million times to you, but the promise hidden in his tone made your heart race. You glanced up at him, your eyes sparkling with mischief.
âMaybe,â you teased back, biting your lip to keep from smiling too wide. Layla smirked at the exchange, watching Trentâs usual composure crack further.
âNah.â He pulled on your skirtâs waist again bringing you tighter into him. âI said⌠Iâm gonna drive you home. Alright?â Trent commandingly told you. The boys watched on in disbelief but you and Trent remained in your bubble, his hand never leaving your waist as the rest of the world faded into background noise. Bailey's jaw dropped as he took in the moment.
"Bro, they have to bang, no?" he blurted out, completely bewildered by the quiet intimacy playing out before him. Layla shrugged nonchalantly but bit her tongue to keep from saying anything.
"If l even put my hand near her, she'd call me bro and swat me away," Noah laughed, gesturing toward you. "But Trent? Nah, he gets to do whatever he wants. Got that pretty boy privilege. We've got a different thing happening here."
"Yeah, mate, he's got the green light. I don't know what he's waiting for," Aiden chimed in, his tone teetering between disbelief and amusement. Bailey blinked, staring intently as Trent's hand casually disappeared under your top, his fingers gliding softly over your stomach. It wasn't showy or bold, but the gesture was undeniably intimate.
"Wait, did he justâ" Bailey started, his eyes wide as he turned to the group. "His hand is under her clothes right now. Is this happening? Lads⌠is this a thing? Have I just been talking about his girl the whole time?" He looked to Aiden and Noah for answers, as if they were the only ones who might hold the key to what was clearly more than just a casual friendship. Layla sighed, debating whether to tell the boys to mind their own business, but before she could speak, Noah interjected, smirking.
"Not his girl officially haha. I think he just likes the game." He smugly said. Layla snapped her head toward Noah, her eyes narrowing in irritation. The comment, whether a joke or not, grated on her. The idea that you could ever be seen as a game to Trent made her blood boil.
"That's not funny, Noah," she said firmly, her tone sharp enough to make him pause. "Theyâre friends. Thatâs how Tâs always been with her.â She snapped. Noah took a deep breath of understanding. It wasnât a joke. Even as much stick as everyone gave you and Trent, no one ever meant any mal intent by it. He knew you had a crush on Trent. He would never want Trent to mess with you like that.
âI know, Lay⌠sorry. Itâs only jokes. Theyâre mates.â Noah responded awkwardly. Not because of Layla but because he would never want to offend you. The group fell into quiet hums of spectators for a moment but none of them could tear their eyes away from the two of you. Trent's attention remained solely on you, his hand moving in a way that felt both protective and adoring, and it was clear to anyone watching-this wasn't a game for him.
âAye, lads⌠Iâm gonna drive Y/N home,â Trent announced casually, though the way his arm tightened around your waist betrayed his eagerness. You, tipsy and giggling, clung to his side, completely oblivious to the knowing looks bouncing around the group.
âYeah, sure,â Bailey laughed, his tone dripping with sarcasm. âDriving her home. Right.â Trent ignored his comment but it wasn't so easy.
âTonightâs it, lad,â Aiden whispered, gripping Trentâs shoulder with a cheeky grin. His voice was low, but the teasing intent was unmistakable. Trent shook his head, fighting the urge to roll his eyes, but the smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth was impossible to hide. To redirect the attention and save face, Trent turned to Layla.
âLays you want a ride too?â He offered, His voice was kind, but the question was almost rhetorical. Layla waved him off immediately.
âNah, Iâm good. Noahâs got me,â she replied with a knowing smirk, her eyes darting between the two of you. Noah raised a brow, caught off guard.
âI do?â he asked, but when Layla shot him a pointed look, he shrugged and leaned into the moment. âYeah, shit, sorry, sure. Yeah, I do. Always happy to help.â His smug grin only grew as he watched you and Trent prepare to leave together. The group watched as Trent guided you toward the door, his hand never leaving the small of your back. As you stepped out into the cool night air and out from prying eyes, Trent leaned down.
âYou alright, baby?â He whispered. You nodded, smiling up at him. âYou wanted me to drive you home?â He looked at you smugly.Â
âMhhmm. To your house please. Just want to be with you,â you murmured, your words laced with affection. And with that, the rest of the party faded into the background, leaving just the two of you, ready to retreat to your own little world.

Trying something new, be kind.
Baby talk. 1/2
Ft. Wo-wo, mama, and 'essy
A Sfw very little Wade fic
Cws include: Brief mentions of adult fun, truama, brief discussion of death, an unexperienced caregiver, an uncomfortable caregiver, cursing, struggles/ happy ending.
Coming home, Wade was quiet. Too quiet.
"Wade?" He calls.
"Last time I heard him he came to hug me for a bit but he didn't awnser me when I asked what he was doing." Al mutters, half asleep on the couch.
"Oh.. well I got food so don't nod off just yet. I'm gonna make that alfredo stuff you like."
"Mmh.. You're a good kid, Logan."
"Althea, I'm older than you...Remember?" He says, setting down the bag of ingredients in the kitchen.
The old woman waves her hand. "Yeah yeah... just wake me up when you're done."
"Alright. Swear you'll wake up? Don't go dying on our couch." He tells her jokingly.
"Bah! It's my couch, I can die on it if I want too." She smiles, pulling the blanket up a bit.
Sometimes she did this, and it was starting to worry Logan. She was forgetting little things more, taking more naps, not wanting to move a lot either. Something about her back? Either way, Logan was terrified. He's already lost so many to old age, he didn't want to see her go too. And thinking about what it would do to Wade scared him more.
It's not until he checks the bedroom to see Wade W sitting, sucking his thumb, and playing house with his action figures and the doll house that Vanessa bought him a couple of years ago.
"Darlin'?"
From the looks of it, he had Spiderman in the kitchen, an old woman on the couch, a doggy on the couch, two little girls upstairs, a barbie in the tub (that didn't fit at all) and a wolverine action figure in the bed, claws up and out.
It took him a second to process before smiling softly. He hasn't been this small in such a long time. "Did I have a nightmare?" He asks, watching as Wade takes the wolvie out of the bed, reaching up as if showing him.
"Yeah, I see. Mad little guy, isn't he?" Logan crouches, grunting a bit as his knees popped.
"God, how do you get down here? Dosn't that hurt your knees?" Logan asks, only to be given a dead stare. As if not processing what he was saying.
"Oh.. uhm.. these?" He pats his knees. "Ouches. Sometimes.."
His eyes light up, only to frown, looking concerned, his own hands coming to his knees. "...ow?"
"Sometimes... hey so... how big are you right now? Can you tell me?"
But there was that stare again, a small tilt of his head with such wide white eyes. Yeah.. that just about tells him everything he needs to know. Vanessa has told him about when this first started and how truely little he had become, not talking much, simply....staring.
"Well.. Kitty's going to make dinner soon. How about you come out and sit in the living room, okay? So I can see you?"
Another stare, his head tilting to the other side now, like a puppy watching its owner do something it had no concept of.
"Uh-huh.... right. Uhm... nevermind. Just stay in here, okay?" Standing again is when Wade begins to panic, making an urgent whine, putting his arms up. "MmMmh!!"
Blinking, Logan swallows, not exactly comfortable with this age. This was Vanessa's age. Not his. He was used to the 5 year old wanting to play stuffies or the smart alack 8 year old who ranted to him for hours about stars, planets, and dinosaurs.
So this was.. weird. New. Unexplored territory. And Honestly, he was fine with that. Totally fine with not knowing.
"Er...I-i don't.. this isn't-" He starts, having a subconsious guilty feeling in his gut for not wanting to take care of him, but also felt like he shouldn't be interacting with him. I mean- They did big adult things last night. And now he was giving him grabby hands? It felt wrong. And with Wade's truama? He didn't want to make it worse on accident.
"Ups?"
"N-no.. Wade.. I-...Im gonna go call Vanessa. Okay?"
"... 'essy?"
"Y-yeah. 'Essy. Erm.. thats ness right?"
" 'essy?"
Swallowing, he nods, leaving the room with his hairs pricked up on the back of his neck, a knot in his stoamch. Taking a deep breath, he dialed the poor woman twice. The phone range through to voice mail both times. "Shit- okay.. fuck.. uhm.."
So he goes to google, trying his best to look for awnsers only to become more disgusted with himself at what he saw. Why was there so much- He groans, trying to calm himself. He couldn't even ask Althea because she was sleeping, snoring away.
Okay. Come on, Howlett. It can't be this hard.. right? I mean, it's just like a regular ki- Oh come on! He's never had a kid this little before! Especially not alone. What was he supposed to do?
Another deep breath, feeling defeated, and put his face in his hands. A buzz comes from the phone, and just as he looks at it, it was like signing his own death certificate.
'Sorry, I'm working. Whats up?'
"When he was really young what did you do to him?"
'???'
"He's really little right now. What do I do?" He asks, trying to type coherently.
'Oooh okay. So ussually I would give him a cup and put on a movie. He was really cuddly too so sometimes I would just hold him.'
Before Logan could respond again, she sent another message saying she had to get back to work and that it will be fine. 'It's easy, don't worry' She said but Logan had his doubts.
Alright. Movies.. cups.. hugs. Got it. He could do that. He could do hugs and cups. That was normal.
Sighing, he puts the phone away, going to the kitchen as he made him his cup, just putting straight milk into it. He liked milk right?? Did tots like milk? Yeah- obviously. Come on- get it together.
Walking into the livingroom, Logan sets it down, going through movies as he remembered what Vanessa told him before, about singing princess movies. "Ariel it is" he thinks, clicking it on and shifted the coffee table so he would have room to lay or play- what ever it was he did.
Coming back to the room, he gathers up some blankets and his stuffies, taking them from the room only to drop them all infront of the tv.
"Wade!" He calls. "Got a cup for ya! And look its a princess. You like princesses." He says, but he doesn't come.
"Wade? Come on, Bub! I gotta make dinner still." This last part was under his breath, only to grunt, going into the room only to see him sitting in the same spot.
"What are you doing? Come on. Livingroom with mama. Lets go." He shifts, gestruing his arms to the door but Wade didn't move, infact the loud words made him frown more, looking at him with those big wide eyes, a deer in headlights.
Logan took a step forward, watching Wade lower his head, holding his small angry Wolverine near his chest, like he would take it away.
This is what Logan was worried about. Great! Now he was scared of him. How was he supposed to care for someone who was too scared to move?
Think, Logan. This isn't hard. Just carry him.
Grunting, he hesitantly puts his arms out, leaning over. "...come'ere."
Another head tilt, making him groan, slightly annoyed. "Wade. Uppies. Come on, kiddo."
Instantly, he smiles, crawling quickly to his legs and put his hands back up, still keeping mad wolvie in one hand.
Picking him up, a shiver went down his spine, suddenly feeling a sense of severe protection after Wade wrapped his arms around his neck, affectionatly nuzzling into his neck with a big smile.
Unconsciously, he hugged him tightly, holding his bum and rubbing his back. "...Hi honey."
Wait. What was he doing? no. No. No. No. NO.
He couldn't feel that way about him. Absolutely no way. That was wrong. Fucking instincts! Not everthing adorable is your kid damn it!
Shaking his head, he quickly walks to the livingroom, putting him down.
"Now. You stay. Sit and watch princess." He says, pointing at the Tv and shaking his head, watching as Wade whimpered, giving him grabby hands again.
"No, Wade. L-later..." He swallows, wanting to punch himself for feeling that way. He had hugged him the same way Gabby did after a long time of seeing him, and it had activated his instinctual parental habits.
Quickly, he walks away to the kitchen, rubbing his temples. "I can't do this shit.." he grumbles.

Copper hoped that he hadnât overstepped with Dorothy. After all, he barely knew her, and here he was asking her about her private feelings. But it went against Copperâs nature to ignore someone who was upset, and that was especially true when it was someone he knew, no matter how minimally that may be. Luckily it didnât seem as though Dorothy was offended. On the contrary, Copper felt like maybe she wanted to talk about it. Nodding, he agreed, âYeah, and then when those days just keep coming, then everything starts to bleed together; everyday starts to feel the same, and soon youâre not just having a string of bad days. Thatâs just your life.â For a moment after saying this, Copper just sat there lost in thought; he knew very well what that was like. But then he snapped out of it, saying, âWow, sorry, I made that really dark, didnât I?â Copper wasnât sure how much Dorothy knew about what heâd gone through, but he wasnât about to bring it up now.
Copper understood what Dorothy met. âOnce when I was in college, this guy I sort of knew died. He was gay too, and even though we didnât know each other that well, when he died, it kind of hit me hard. I think itâs because it already feels like our community - whether it be the gay community, the witch community, or anything else like that - already feels so small, and then it just gets a little smaller when things like this happen.â So yeah, Copper understood exactly what Dorothy meant.Â
He hadnât been sure if Dorothy would know what he was getting at, but at her question, he exclaimed, âYes!â and smacked his hand against the table. A few people around them looked over in surprise, and Copper mumbled a quick apology to them before turning his attention back to Dorothy, speaking at a normal volume now. "It changed for me too," Copper said quietly. "One minute it was the article about Avalon, and then next..." He trailed off; the memory alone was enough to cause his heart rate to increase, vision suddenly a little blurry as he remembered how he had felt. "Sorry," Copper apologized a moment later once he had himself back under control. "Anyway, the next minute it turned to a picture of me, but like...this grotesque version of me. And the article title became 'we know what you're hiding.' I...didn't handle that well." Copper remembered how he had had to call Aris just to calm down; he didn't know what he'd do without his brother. "Is that what happened to you too?" Copper asked Dorothy.
Dorothy's words felt heavy, ominous even, and Copper shuddered because he agreed. "Yes," he answered simply, his voice quiet, like saying it too loudly would make it too real. "I've thought that ever since that weird storm," he went on. "I had a horrific nightmare that night, and I...I haven't felt right since. Since then, I feel like something is getting closer. It's like I can see it at a distance, and it's becoming clearer with each step in our direction. And though I can't tell what it is, I just know that it's not good."
Dorothy sat quietly for a moment, her gaze flickering over Copper's words as she processed them. His understanding, his empathy - it was something she hadn't expected, but that she was grateful for. There was a gentle sincerity in his voice that made it feel like he wasn't just passing the time with small talk. He got it. And that made her feel a little less alone in her frustration. "Yeah, itâsâŚ" Dorothy sighed, shaking her head as she felt completely speechless for a moment. The warmth of his understanding was comforting, but it wasnât enough to calm the storm swirling inside her. "Itâs hard," she agreed, her voice quiet but steady. "I know what you mean about those days stretching out. Itâs like⌠like you wake up and itâs not even one bad day. Itâs a string of them, and before you know it, it feels like itâs been weeks."
The mention of Avalon had her pausing for a moment, and a weight seemed to settle in her chest. It wasnât just one thing, but the whole mess - Avalonâs death, the chaos surrounding it, the memories of terrible moments in her past that it reminded her of, the strange silence that had followed, and that damn newspaper... It was all tangled up inside her, pulling at her and making it hard to breathe. Dorothy was surprised by how quickly Copper had pinpointed that it was connected to Avalon - he was right, and even more scarily correct at the mention of the newspaper. Surely he couldn't have meant...
"Yeah, AvalonâŚ" Dorothy finally said, hesitance soaked up in her tone of voice, her head nodding slowly. "It's always going to be hard to lose someone in the community, especially someone who I practically grew up beside, even if we weren't ever the closest," Dorothy's eyes flitted back up to finally meet Copper's again. "But it's also... It's a whole string of things that comes after it, and after..." did Copper have the same experience with the newspaper? Or was he talking about something entirely different? Hesitantly, Dorothy decided that she needed to find out. "The newspaper, when I was reading about Avalon... Did you see something wrong with it?" She questioned, specific enough for it to make sense if Copper had had the same experience, but vague enough to later brush off if that wasn't the case.
Her own words hung heavy in the air, and Dorothy shook her head, trying to gather herself. The vulnerability she felt was strange - she wasnât used to letting people see her struggle, but something about Copperâs quiet, steady presence made it easier. Almost comforting, in a strange way as Dorothy was so used to relying on the same specific people, or else bottling up all of her troubles. "I donât know if itâs just me overthinking things, but I canât help but feel like something's happening in town, and⌠Iâm not sure if itâs just the grief making everything harder to see straight or if thereâs really something more to all of this." Dorothy gave Copper a searching look, her voice quieter now but with a clear sincerity. "But I appreciate you asking. I guess, maybe, itâs just helpful to talk about it with someone who doesnât think Iâm crazy for wondering..."
