i've yet to do anything with polls, so we're going to determine the best part of (vanilla) terraria
#terraria#my personal favorite is early hardmode#somethin about the sudden spike in difficulty and the grind for new gear and getting to see so many new things. yeah#but also for very specific intervals i love when things happen with the dungeon#post-skeletron & post-plantera dungeon exploration i love them so much

2024 was a year in gaming. I don't have a definitive order or game of the year yet, but here are some of my favorites from this year
-Echoes of Wisdom: One of the more inventive Zelda titles and a real breath of fresh air.
-Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble: Obviously I haven't shut up about this game since I dove headfirst into the speedrunning community and the most recent update has only made me love it more
-Balatro: If you've played this game, you know. Intoxicatingly simple, well-designed, and points go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-Animal Well: Dunkey put his whole pussy into promoting this one, and yeah I'd say it was worth the hype. An incredibly inventive Metroidvania where new discoveries and wonder are always just around the corner, all with an incredibly present and almost offputting theming and tone. Great work. Definitely worth checking out if you like exploration titles.
-Core Keeper: I played this one with Red about a year or two ago back when it was in Early Access, but it released officially in October (congrats!) and this one has to be mentioned if only because my reaction to seeing the second boss for the first time was wild. A fun little top-down terraria/minecraft type title. The idea of building a little world with friends in Core Keeper again is very tempting, if it wasn't so damn time-consuming.
-UFO 50: I need to put more time in this game before I can say a lot about it, but it's a lot of game and it's all (from what I've seen) pretty well-designed, introducing tons and tons of creative ideas.
-For some reason I still haven't played Sonic X Shadow Generations
-Pepper Grinder: A really fun platformer for if you want to kill a few hours. Got really into speedrunning this one for a bit before moving on (I think it's because they patched out Mary Poppins, but I think interest was waning a bit anyway, plus Monkey Ball kinda forcibly took its place)
And yeah those are video games

Undertale special interest kicking in... I swear I'm never getting tired of these guys...
I can imagine them sometimes meeting up Post-Pacifist for game nights. Like... board games, card games, video games... I have a few headcanons about it.
Card/Board games:
Let's address the elephant in the room: Monopoly is banned. Just straight up banned. They played once... Never again. Let's just say by the end of the night there were magic spears wedged deeply into Toriel's new wallpaper... and the wall... and the brick of the house... And the window was shattered. Yeah, Monopoly, it's banned, it's banned.
Papyrus has no poker face whatsoever. Meanwhile, Sans and Frisk have VERY impressive poker faces, and they're both aware of it. Once, they formed some sort of secret alliance and they dominated poker night. It was Frisk's first time playing, too!
I imagine Frisk would just be a natural at all games, hands down. Well, kind of. They don't always win, but they learn very quickly. Jack of all trades, I suppose.
Undyne has this habit of flipping boards (a classic) and shooting magic spears whenever she loses at a game or just gets EXTREMELY passionate about it. Although, if Alphys or Papyrus are the ones that beat her, she'll grit her teeth and act happy for them, just to make them happy.
Unfortunately, Papyrus picked up on Undyne's bad habit and bones started scattering the walls. Toriel had to ban magic bullets in the house after one of them almost gave Frisk a concussion.
Asgore is pretty good at card games, actually! I like to imagine he sometimes spends time with old friends of his, like Gerson and stuff, and they would have tea and play games while they chat, so he's had a lot of practice.
Toriel, on the other hand, hasn't played any board games or cards in AGES thanks to her isolation in the Ruins. She's not terrible, but she's not particularly GOOD at them either.
Sometimes, certain members of the group would try to break Sans' calmness, because while everyone had gotten annoyed at one point or another during game nights, Sans never did. Long story short, nope, he's just too chill. He's just happy to be here.
Once, Alphys bought a Mew Mew Kissy Cutie board game for game night, and she was so excited to show everyone the ropes (and dominate the night for once). She only won one game. And then she had an identity crisis afterwards!
Snacks! They do a rotation on who gets to be in charge of the food! Undyne and Papyrus are NO LONGER in this rotation after they brought in flaming spaghetti and almost set the couch on fire. Even then, you could only really trust Frisk, Toriel and Asgore with the snacks, since Alphys doesn't cook (she brings in store-bought cupcakes, it's the thought that counts), and Sans always forgets or is just too lazy to get snacks, so he orders pizza.
Video games:
They meet up to play stuff like Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Party, but when they play online multiplayer games, like Minecraft, Terraria etc. they just stay home and go on a Zoom call or something. It's a lot less stressful for the introverts of the group (mainly Alphys, but I suppose Toriel could qualify [Undyne and Papyrus are absolutely extroverts; Sans and Frisk are moreso ambiverts, I think]) because they don't have to go out to do it! Yay!
They do all the things typical friends do when they're playing online games! They troll, they tease, they laugh, they help each other out, they TRY to work as a team (emphasis on TRY)...
One of the games I'd like to see them play is Human Fall Flat (I have that game and I play it with my sister :]). I want to see some RAGE. I'm sure Papyrus would love doing the puzzles, but at the same time, I'm sure the others not cooperating or knowing what's going on would tick him off. Yessss... Let Papyrus rage.
Sometimes Alphys and/or Sans would trail off into some scientific conversation or tangent, and after a minute or so, the others would start yelling over them, "NERD!!! NERDS! NERRDDD!!!" Alphys would get flustered, and Sans would desperately try to keep his composure and try not to burst out laughing.
Undyne and Papyrus have the extraordinary ability to make even the calmest, simplest games intense. ESPECIALLY Undyne, oh my goooood. Though I guess she could use the extra stimulation, she will NOT settle for a game with a slow pace. So much for Animal Crossing.
In addition, the gang can get VERY competitive at Mario Kart and stuff. Undyne is obviously the most competitive, but I think Papyrus and Alphys would want to try and impress her. Frisk and Sans? Nah, they're chilling. They don't care, they're just here to watch the chaos. Yeah... There's a reason why Asgore and Toriel don't often play games with these guys. Though they would watch and look upon them fondly. I dunno, it just seems cute.
#undertale#frisk#sans#papyrus#toriel#undyne#alphys#asgore#the gang's all here#look#i kinda made it ambiguous as to whether flowey is here or not because i don't know if he would even participate#maybe he might#if papyrus and/or frisk can convince him#mettaton?#nah he's too busy touring#undergamers

Wanted to practice drawing Mash characters this morning because DEAR LORD I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCHHHHH like it was originally just something that I put on in the background to watch while I played terraria back in 2020 but then I just got hooked and by season 3 I was all in. Is there dated stuff in the show? Yeah, naturally, all products of it's time, but despite that it's still such a wonderfully written show and has made me laugh my ass off on many occasions while making me sob my eyes out on others. Oh and that finale? Genuinely wonderful, one of the best for any series I have ever watched!! frank burns eats worms.
#mash#m*a*s*h#fanart#my art#I definitely wanna try drawing some of the others in the future#mainly potter and radar oh and winchester too!

dawg I just had to move all my shit to a brand new world because calamity loves me and decided to do its worldgen weird.
i am going to share this tale with you for the haha funnies. i am not complaining. in fact this made me so incredibly joyous and i thought it was HILARIOUS
ryder is currently pre-skeletron. so i decide that now is the time so i can go into the dungeon and get some nice and tasty weapon upgrades. with that as well comes the time for me to get some sea prisms. i think "huh, i've been neglecting going to the sunken sea. perhaps now is the time!" i say, having no idea of what would unfold for the the next hour
i find my prisms. i start exploring. i find some honey and realize "oh hey, i'm right next to the jungle." a jungle shrine is to the left under the sunken sea and i think "oh hey! nice!" so cool! my sunken sea's next to the underground jungle!
HOWEVER. and i mean HOWEVER. this. this is where it begins. the tomfuckery begins here
as i'm exploring the place, luiafk does me its nice little favor of bringing nearby items towards me. it is great for collecting blocks from dynamite holes while i'm busy actually mining. BUT.
i suddenly collect the Mother Fucking Lihzard Altar
as in The Thing you use to fight golem later in hardmode.
my brain COMBUSTS. it lights on fire immediately and alarm bells start ringing as a single, one (1) thought is imprinted in my mind:
what the fuck
so i go to the side, thinking, did my world come out weird?? did something merge??
and to no one's surprise
BITCH.
basically my sunken sea collided with my jungle temple which yeah is bad on its own but i feel like where it went the most incredulously wrong is that the sunken sea ate THE ENTIRE BOSS ROOM FOR BREAKFAST.
i leave and reenter the world with victor to check out the temple because it's post scal and can handle it compared to ryder's small little prehardmode body
i think "huh. do i have some weird mod that puts the boss room at the top?" NOPE. no you do not. You wanna know what you do have?!?!
a Significant lack of GOLEM'S ROOM
i immediately realize this means i cannot naturally fight golem. you see that fucking clam down there? that's my prime suspect for this CRIME. this THEFT. why would Amidias be enough for the clam. why eat that seahorse looking ass guy when it could just turn at my jungle temple and HHHERMRMPGHHHHGGHBNMN NNNABMANN ÑAM ÑAM ÑAM ÑAM yknow. Just *roblox mm cheeseburger sound effect*. for what reason? perhaps the funnies? perhaps it wasn't satisfied with its already plentiful meal? god knows? it despawned before i could ask it!
moral of the story worldgen does very funny things and i was laughing my ass off and thought perhaps this would be a little funny enough to talk about. i love modded terraria

Warframe should add extremely rare variant fish like in terraria or dredge or something.
Get the super rare spawns in not just a hotspot but this one specific area.
I want people going apeshit when they finally get it to spawn and be ready to commit real violence if the NPCs or heavens forbid teammates screw up the chance to get The Fish.
Because I want evil game design for the love of evil.
ok yeah i would grind for this and also be mad. this is evil but i also kinda want it

i think honestly mojang is in a cycle where they're CREATING people who are unsatisfied. when you keep adding extrinsic rewards and jingling shiny keys for people to go collect, then its like. yes those are fun! but they run out. especially when its just one or two really really well developed and thought out shiny thing every year. gonna be real if you want to go for Shiny Shiny Stuff, then you gotta go for quantity over quality in some way tbh. because ...people have become accustomed to new shiny things to collect, but then that leaves them feeling unsatisfied that there isnt MORE its like, the sniffer but on a larger scale; the sniffer having only two plants makes people disappointed that there isnt like, 15 different plants from it. the expectation is "oo yesi love this i want more!!" but if it had none in the first place, then. okay. people wouldn't have the disappointment of lack of plants they wouldnt be asking for more plants
and likewise, i dont think people would be asking for more cool things to seek out and find in minecraft, if they werent being given little bits of new adventures to go on with new shiny rewards it realistically started all the way back in 1.11 when the focus became more on exploration, but the jingling of keys began in .. hm. 1.16 or 1.17, probably. 1.16 is an exception because the nether was a nothingburger beforehand, tbh. and it doesnt leave much of the nether feeling lacking because... well, the dimension is MOSTLY covered in new stuff! by proxy of originally being nothing! but the overworld already has tons of stuff, and . being given more stuff... just. mm i cant word things correctly but. more new places to go with new things (sherds, echo shards, now resin) is like. that just makes you wish for more. and its insatiable to keep that up forever minecraft is becoming a halfbaked terraria, in terms of adding more extrinsic goals
can the game succeed past this? yeah
but i think its in an extremely awkward state of being right now

ANOTHER RAPID FIRE QUESTION ROUND!!!!! on the condition that it cannot help you escape the deserted island, what is one thing you would take to a deserted island? what's a book that changed your life in high school? what's your ideal job? what's your favorite ice cream flavor? what's your favorite place you ever visited and where would you like to visit someday? what's your favorite video game? again i can't think of any more questions but if you have something you would like to say. well. you can say it. bye bye 💖💖💖
oouhh my god that's a tough question to start with. like the boring answer would be some sort of multi tool but i suppose anything that helps me survive would eventually also help me leave. it'd have to be like. a ball. or some other sort of small nicknack that i could easily keep on me to play around with, oH or my childhood plushy. or actually like a lil instrument like a harmonica to learn that'd be cool. yeaah so like a rubiks cube or a harmonica or my plushie ^^
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was like the only thing i read during middle/high school that wasn't required reading for a class it's fantastic. ok well it wasn't the only thing i read but it's the only thing i've reread like 5 times by now lmao. it definitely helped stoke my imagination and interest in physics with the dumbass sci-fi fkjdksjs
wuuuh i haven't thought too much about it but i think ideally i end up in some sort of pure mathematics research position; i imagine i'm also gonna end up teaching at a uni somewhere at the same time, which isn't bad honestly even though i'm an awful teacher ^^ i just love talking about and trying to explain that stuff. i don't know exactly where my passion comes from but it's just. sure i've always been good at it but more than that it's exciting! it's so exciting to learn about! maths isn't invented, it's discovered, and we're discovering it! and it's so complex and so stupid. it's embedded in everything and exists wholly outside of it. i also like philosophy lmao
ok ok, so. good. proper. vanilla icecream. like chocolate with fudgy bits and stuff is incredible, fruity/berry flavoured icecream is awesome too. but there's a reason vanilla became synonymous with default and it isn't because it's boring it's because it's the best. but yeah only if it's good, shitty vanilla icecream sucks ass. it's also incredibly close to be entirely honest i DO like a good berry icecream. but the simplicity and delicacy of vanilla just does it for me most of the time
i don't think i have a favourite place- i haven't traveled enough yet😭 the furthest i've been from home was just sydney and the gold coast and it was like. different but the same, all just australia still but somewhere else. but i've always wanted to tour through europe and japan and some bits in south africa and the americas and other places too though. i need to see everything
AHH terraria probably??!!!?! it's so hard to say but really terraria is probably the game i've played the most in my life. otherwise plazma burst is an old flash game that's close to my heart because of nostalgia. and cause it's fucking awesome still tbh. OHH and the henry stickmin games!!!! also nostalgia but they also fucking rock still. and then there's the basic answers like portal and skyrim because of course. i cried when i finally beat portal 2, it was literally one the first games i ever played on the xbox 360 we got when i was like 9-10 years old, and like, i'd get stuck at bits and not play for a while at a time so it ultimately took some two years to get through but when it happened it was just. ough.
#ooauuuagij i can't think of anything else it's like 3am i've been doing chores and statistics all today and haven't spent much time online#one more week until a small uni break tho!!#ouH and THANKS YOU for the very great ask!!! i enjoyed thinking about all such things ^^#hope you enjoy reading and i'm curious about some of your answers too if you wanna share also :>#askmuck

Do you have any videogames-related headcanons??
Like I headcanon Iceland is OBSESSED with the sims (specifically 4) and rants to Norway about all his saved games, each with at least five generations of sims
Sims? Interesting. I always saw him as a huge portal fan.
Well, the Nordics have a minecraft SMP together. (they no longer allow guests after America joined and destroyed Denmark's builds.)
Norway absolutely loves those shitty flash games. (now I've been told they no longer exist but like... I still play them, so I don't know) he always plays the jankiest ones. He and Iceland love laughing about the really crappy ones.
Finland is fantastic at first person shooters. He's unbeatable in games like Counter strike, COD, Halo, etcetera.
Sweden likes world building games like Minecraft, animal crossing, terraria, stardew valley.
Iceland is really into indie games. He's played and replayed undertale, deltarune, little misfortune, etcetera. I also mentioned portal, yeah he loves that, he and Hong Kong played the co-op mode together.
Iceland and Norway also own a Wii.

WAIT WAIT IF UR FAMILIAR WITH TERRARIA THEN 💫 TERRARIA bosses or npcs or enemies or. Fucken blocks idc anything can be a character
Mechanic, easily. When I first played Terraria I crushed on her haaaaaard. I still do a little bit, but yeah, she’s just really cute.
Also, this is a little outside the scope of the question but I love talking about it, but my favorite part of any game is taking on the four pillars before the Moon Lord. Because at that point you have full equipment and wings and all that stuff and unlike other bosses or mob invasions, you don’t get to choose the exact location and therefore can’t prepare a battlefield. So more often than not you’re fighting these monsters on the raw landscape which I think is SUPER cool because a lot of the time when I’m taking on the pillars I’m flying around huge hills that still have wooden platforms on them that I needed to use to pass. It’s a cool way to showcase just how far you’ve come before the final challenge.
