So, I haven't gotten any prompts yet, which is to be expected. But I don’t wanna wait forever for my first prompt to come in, so… I’m going to show off some of my already existing ocs! Hopefully this will show you guys what I can do, ramp up interest, and most importantly will be fun! So, they say to put your best foot forward, so I’m going to start with one of my most popular ocs! She’s one of the first ocs I ever made, and I've done a lot to refine her over the years. Meet…

Aki Fujimoto, The Ultimate Wedding Planner!

Other Details: Has 3 pet birds that she takes with her everywhere. Eros, a pigeon, Aphrodite, a dove, and Cupid, a nightingale. They assist her with work, and are incredibly well trained. If they were in a killing game what would their role be?: Survivor or Victim (Specifically the 2nd Victim)

What influences inspired this character?: Mako Mankanshoku (Kill La KIll), Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarves) Pinky Pie and Fluttershy (MLP), Chihiro Fujisaki (Danganronpa) Likes and Dislikes: Likes Sunflower Seeds, Sparkling Cider, and flowers. Dislike bigotry, lava, and disorganization Fears: letting down her friends, being rejected for her sexuality

Quirks: Never breaks a pinky promise, talks to her birds, gets incredibly flustered and embarrassed by even vaguely sexual conversations.

Physical Description: Aki has light blue eyes, a cute face with a button nose, and keeps her hair in a brown bowl cut. She wears a blue and white school uniform, and has a sweet smile.

Personality: Aki has an innocent, naive personality. Despite her high intelligence when it comes to mathematics, budgeting and organization, her innocent personality and ignorance of more adult topics causes her to often be seen as dumb or ditzy. She is inquisitive, fiercely loyal, very friendly, and at times very silly. She understands more than people think however, and is more intelligent than people give her credit for. She tends to remind people of a traditional disney princess, since she has a strange affinity for animals, specifically birds.

Backstory: (this post is already so long, and I wanna keep some stuff about her secret, so I’ll just go with the basics.) Ever since she was little Aki has had a love of weddings. Her first wedding ever planned was one organized in her living room between her stuffed animals, Ms. Bunny and Ms. Crocodile. Her parents were so amazed they proudly posted her photos online, where she got a lot of attention for her beautiful set up. She would later set up a wedding for her pets, her neighbors (who would play wedding with her) and eventually set up a real one for her aunt. At 11 she was able to set up an amazing tropical island wedding during a volcanic eruption. This is why she is the Ultimate Wedding Planner.

2009-10: 8-9 yr/o

I loved old cartoons and made Looney Tunes style comics with OC’s like; Tom the Cat, and the Cartoon Law Police.

Anime influence sets in, I start defining the head from the neck. I got really into MLP and drew a lot of that. Also made my half-fairy half-witch mechanic OC.

OCs Galore! Now with stories! I made SO Many new OCs this year, my universe of elves, gay royals, a magical girl and magical boy. Things also got very gay and trans this year. I humanized my Splatoon OCs because I phased out of that.

Made a whole new roster of Monster OCs for a (hypothetical) dating sim. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hyperfixation comes back with a vengeance, but drawing turtles is hard so I make a human AU (no set era, an amalgamation of all versions + my own characterizatoins) This is also the start of some Floppy drawings in my sketchbook 👀?

There's a thing I really love doing with this and it's using an epithet to signify that the POV character suddenly sees the other person differently.

For example, imagine a mild-mannered mother who's a judge by profession, in a book from the POV of one of his children. She is referred to as "mom" or something similar, but then the kid gets into trouble and the next sentence goes:

"You are NOT allowed to use the computer until you have repaid Mr. Smith for the damage," the judge said.

This isn't just an epithet, it's also a tone indicator. By drawing attention to the fact that she's "the judge" and not "mom" or "Alice", and seen by her kid as such, it's telling you that the mother is putting on her authoritative work persona to effectively discipline her child, and that the child is fairly unused to this so the only point of reference they have for it is how she acts at work.

Or imagine having a childhood friend with whom you're still close, you meet up with them often and you shoot the shit and are just generally silly, but then one day you visit them at their workplace and see them acting super serious and competent and trustworthy. And you think holy fuck this isn't just Alice from high school who has MLP pajamas and does five shots of tequila in an evening and then cries in the bathroom over how hot Alexander Skarskgaard is, this is Dr. Smith. Like there will be a split in your brain between how you usually see this person and how they're acting in this moment that warrants the epithet.

Or imagine, if you will, your classical "secret nobility/royalty" fantasy trope. This guy spent most of the book with you, he acted like a peasant (if a sorta weird one) throughout and you thought that you became friends or even lovers, but then suddenly you reach the castle and SURPRISE! Your guy is a nobleman, and he gets put into fancy clothes and slips into his old nobleman behaviour patterns and you are shocked because it's like he's a whole other person. If during this section he's described as "the marquis" or whatever, it's because you're still trying to reconcile "the marquis" with "Jack", and the person in front of you feels more like the former (a marquis who's a stranger to you) than the latter (Jack who gave you a blowjob behind the barn last week).

The trait has to be something that's NEW to you or that stands out or that has not been salient before but is suddenly triggered by the situation. Describing Jack as "the tall man" in the same scene is weird because presumably Jack has always been tall, and if you've spent weeks with him presumably you have already integrated the fact that he's tall in your general concept of Jack. Describing him as "the well-dressed man" might work if he comes back to the adventure party in his marquis clothes and sticks out like a sore thumb. Describing him as "the well-dressed man" probably won't work if you're describing him that way in the castle, with another 5 well-dressed nobles standing around in your general vicinity.

In writing, epithets ("the taller man"/"the blonde"/etc) are inherently dehumanizing, in that they remove a character's name and identity, and instead focus on this other quality.

Which can be an extremely effective device within narration!

They can work very well for characters whose names the narrator doesn't know yet (especially to differentiate between two or more). How specific the epithet is can signal to the reader how important the character is going to be later on, and whether they should dedicate bandwidth to remembering them for later ("the bearded man" is much less likely to show up again than "the man with the angel tattoo")

They can indicate when characters stop being as an individual and instead embody their Role, like a detective choosing to think of their lover simply as The Thief when arresting them, or a royal character being referred to as The Queen when she's acting on behalf of the state

They can reveal the narrator's biases by repeatedly drawing attention to a particular quality that singles them out in the narrator's mind

But these only work if the epithet used is how the narrator primarily identifies that character. Which is why it's so jarring to see a lot of common epithets in intimate moments-- because it conveys that the main character is primarily thinking of their lover/best friend/etc in terms of their height or age or hair color.

I’m not one to talk about stuff that frustrates me in the doll world, but man, this is really frustrates me. So Monster High is getting a live action reboot, and everyone and their brother is telling me about it because they know I love Monster High. And you know what, I appreciate that they remembered it’s one of my interests and try to connect with me over it, that’s nice. But every conversation I’ve had has ended the same way, in everyone sharing disappointment that this new movie is missing the charm of the original. I show people what the live action looks like vs the series that inspired it, and not one has been excited for the new thing once they know where it comes from.

A lot of what I’m about to say can be summarized as “if it were a new generation instead of a reboot, I would like it,” but I’m gonna go more in depth under the cut here. 

The thing that kills me about this movie is that it feels like it’s another story wearing the Monster High name in order to have a chance at selling, and I’m bothered by that. Okay, so Clawdeen is the new ghoul at school this time, why? We had a solid what, seven years of that being Frankie’s role, what do we gain from Clawdeen being put in that role instead? Where did Draculaura’s love of witchcraft come from, why wasn’t that given to Cleo instead when she was always the one messing with talismans for comedic episodes in the original show? Why has Heath been turned into the hotheaded bully stereotype? What happened to Deuce’s story with being half normie and needing his shades to protect those around him? Why is the fantasy skin tone roughly preserved for most characters but not Lagoona? I have a ton of gripes about Lagoona, so much of her style has been changed. The tomboy aesthetic, down to earth nature, the Australian accent, she doesn’t seem like she’s even related to the original character, and that’s a shame. Because you know what kills me? I would LOVE this character if I didn’t know it was supposed to be Lagoona. She’s got a fun style that I vibe with a lot, I am so into having more aquatic monsters like we did with Sirena and Lorna, but she’s wearing a name that isn’t hers. That’s not Lagoona, that is a new character wearing her name because the creators don’t seem to have faith that they can make something new without the original’s branding and reputation. That’s what kills me, these characters aren’t the same, they’re clearly a new vision, and I wish they’d just gone all the way with changing it rather than going halfway. 

Like if you told me this was a new group of students, a new generation with new names and personalities, I would buy it, I would totally be on board. It’s like what MLP does, each series is a different generation, and sometimes they take place in the same world at different time periods, sometimes they share elements, but they don’t have to. That would have been an easier approach to accept. Instead, by doing a reboot and changing so much of the old, it feels like they’re spitting on the original, and that frustrates me. Like I could get behind some of the changes if they were equipped to different characters (see Cleo getting into witchcraft since it makes sense with how she was written formerly), but it feels like the people working on this franchise now have a total lack of understanding of why the original was charming. It feels like they don’t care. It feels like this is wearing the MH brand because they don’t have faith that it would sell without it, and that just makes me sad.

The big gripe I have is that this movie’s trailers seem to indicate that the main conflict is the monsters being afraid of a student with secret human heritage. And we know that Clawdeen is a werewolf, which is, you know, part human. So you can totally see where this is going. Clawdeen is gonna be in trouble, they’re gonna shoehorn in something with Draculaura doing her new witchy stuff to try and make Clawdeen not part human, it’s gonna fail dramatically, her cover is gonna be blown, people are gonna riot, and somehow it’ll be resolved within the timespan of the film. It’s incredibly predictable, and given how human some of these characters look, I’m a little annoyed by it. Like look, Cleo is a mummy, mummies were humans once. Frankie is literally stitched together from pieces of living things, and while I know the media of the original made it out to be synthetic instead of actual human flesh, my point still stands, that is still very human in nature. Ghoulia is a zombie, zombies were once living humans. Draculaura’s original story had her as a human that got turned by Dracula in order to save her life when her mother died, she was HUMAN. And let’s not forget Deuce, a monster who is only half gorgon, as his mother, Medusa, had him with a human father, something she won’t talk to him about because they’re estranged. And while we’re on the subject, what about Jackson and Holt? They are a huge deal when it comes to monster and humans, do they not exist in this world yet because of this story? 

It just, grr it’s so FRUSTRATING that they chose this as the plot. They could have chosen ANYTHING as the plot to this world, and they chose the least logical path possible. Nevermind the fact that they couldn’t be bothered to use the term normies for humans like all the other MH media did, no, how dare we be consistent. It just feels like there’s no respect for the original source material. If you’re gonna reboot something, you do your homework on it, figure out what made it successful and include elements of that while still creating your own thing. 

Today we had a doll leak that showed our main three ghouls, and I’ll be honest, I don’t dislike the dolls. I think all three of them have some okay points, but they aren’t Draculaura, Clawdeen, or Frankie. If you sold them to me as new characters, I would like them so much more, I’d even find them cute. The leak of Cleo remains my favorite of the bunch so far, she looks really good. The ears are really nice, the body shapes are okay, the face paint is even alright. It’ll take time to get used to the new faces, but they aren’t bad, they just aren’t Monster High as I’ve grown to love it. They could still be Monster High, I just wish they were new characters, like genuinely, that would solve so many problems. I can ignore a bad live action movie plot, I don’t have to watch it when it comes out (nor do I have to watch the leaked full version that’s roaming around), but I do have to deal with the fandom side of things, and that’s not a fun time. I struggle with change, especially when the change is unnecessary. There was no reason to reboot Monster High. Don’t change the thing I love, make your own thing that’s even better and unique to your team/the time it’s made in. This reboot feels like it’s a fanfiction role swap AU that got to be made into a canon product, and I don’t want that. I’m fine with fanfiction existing, that’s a great thing for a “what if,” but that’s where it belongs, as a thing to play with, not as canon.

YEAHH!! RAMBLING ABOUT TV SHOWS!

1. Doctor Who - I’ve been a Doctor Who fan for years now. 11 was my first doctor <3 and by god I love all the companions so much. I’M SO FREAKING HYPED FOR THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY AND 15!!!!

2. Agent Carter - Best MARVEL show ever!! I love Peggy so much. I love Hayley Atwell. I love DOTTIE (and Bridget Regan!)!!!! It’s so gay (we’re ignoring season 2.) And Carterwood <3

3. The Boys - I needed a superhero show after the MCU/Secret Invasion disappointed me to fucking hell LMAO. I picked up The Boys because I thought it looked fun and HOLY FUCK ITS SO GOOD. I was not expecting the gore but DAMN POP OFF. Also, it’s got a genuinely insane story and brilliant characters. 10/10 would recommend if you’re not turned off by gratuitous sex and violence (Queen Maeve my favourite bicon <3)

4. House of the Dragon - I’m a huge GoT fan (Team Dany!) so when I heard they were making a Targaryen prequel (with Matt Smith) I was on board. And then I watched the show and FUCK y’all it genuinely is one of the best things I’ve ever watched. The acting, the effects, the writing?? Peak. Also, it gave me Rhaenicent. Hyped for season 2 and for the DRAGON BATTLES! Go Team Black <3 (alicent im sorry but youre still my fav character in all of got)

5. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist - guys it such a stupid heartfelt show. They didn’t have to go so hard on the season 1 finale. I was in tears. They took a silly goofy concept (Zoey can hear people’s thoughts in the form of songs/musical numbers) and made such a beautiful show out of it. And the characters?? God my HEART

6. Peaky Blinders - What can I say, I’m a sucker for serious, gritty period dramas. Helen McCrory my beloved. God, this was such a good show.

7. Ever After High - I was fucking obsessed with this show. This was my big phase in middle/high school after MLP. Like holy hell it’s so good. Why are kid shows so good?? I will forever be pissed off that EAH got cancelled because of fucking Descendants. BRING BACK EAH.

8. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - It’s definitely not in my top 8 tv shows of all time, but fuck it I will never not recommend this show. Stunning animation and I will be honest I cried by the end. Mwah. The gore was amazing too hehe

i am so serious about some of these. like. i took it seriously. this isn't even recommendations it's literally the shows you need to understand me. hill house and bly manor are everything to me, spooky emotional gay. odaat is very important, sometimes it's scarily relatable. yellowjackets bc it's taken over my life like few other things ever have. tgp i've actually only watched once but it's my favorite way to explain where i live. warrior nun for me being gay and only vaguely catholic. penguin town bc listen i had to include penguins otherwise it's not me. and the l word i know it's not good but you need to know i don't care about that!! to know me better you need to know that!! i'm not here to watch high quality stuff and that includes facing things that are just a mess!

MY LITTLE PONY: A NEW GENERATION (G5 Movie) THOUGHTS

It’s finally here. The beginning of Generation 5. Though before I get into the movie in some detail I’m going to reiterate one more time what G5 means for my content and a non-spoilery summary of the movie.

Again, I will say that the movie nor will the G5 series coming later have much of an effect at all on any of my blogs. The revelation in Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear that life itself is also magic means that a world that implied to have no magic for years would mean the extinction of all life (Perhaps resulting in the wasteland we saw in the Season 5 finale). There may be something I’ll probably do at some point on a certain different blog. But even then, that may likely be a one-time thing and probably come around the time the series is starting to air.

That said, just because I’m continuing with mainly G4 content doesn’t mean I disapprove of G5. In fact, my non-spoilers thoughts on the movie is I think it is a good start for this new generation. There are questions I have that I’m not sure will be answered (Though many of those questions are the same ones I had in my Trailer/Preliminary thoughts) quickly enough. But the movie is structured well enough, in fact it’s probably a better movie as a whole compared to any of the movies G4 had (The 2017 movie, Rainbow Roadtrip, and all 4 Equestria Girls movies). As the 2017 movie was fun, but it jumped around a lot, sometimes scenes transitioning too fast. And while Rainbow Roadtrip may have been this on purpose, the entirely slice-of-life story taking up a long length… made it something of a less interesting plot to follow. It feels like some of that special could of been cut to at least a two-parter length and keep the same beats they hit. And while i have a soft spot for the 3rd and 4th Equestria Girls movies, I’ll always say a full-length pony adventure feels better suited for what I want to see out of MLP then spin-off movies with high school movie cliches and weird pony/human world shenanigans.

So movie-wise I’m not a G4 purist. It’ll take some time to see how Gen 5 compares to Friendship is Magic when we get to the series. As I feel it’d take a lot for it to surpass G4 in my mind. But I’m going to try to be as fair as possible and judge on it’s own merits. The implied connection to G4 by referring to G4 being ancient Equestria is going to naturally get the staff and hasbro pressured by fans to tell us what happened in-between the generations. Because that’s the trap they put the writers in when they made it so they want to try to say it’s in the same universe. That’s the double-edged sword Hasbro chose to have, trying to appease the G4 fanbase and keep at least some of them around. But at the cost of questions both nitpicky (Such as character design being inconsistent) or actual honest questions that need to be known (Why did magic disappear, and what happened to the Alicorns) for some of us to truly see this as the same Equestria.

After the break, I’ll have more spoilery thoughts

Even for a brief moment, it was nice seeing the Mane 6 and 2D animation. The former because of course those are the ponies many of us that saw all of G4 loved. And the latter, because while the animation wasn’t bad in this movie. I’m one of those who’d prefer to have 2D animation in an animated film. As in most cases aside from Pixar, it’s just a strong preference of mine. If this had the animation of the 2017 MLP movie but otherwise everything else was generally the same here, I feel that would of have been great.

I wish they didn’t have to have Sunny’s dad die off-screen, as he seems like he could of been a compelling character. And not to mention if perhaps he has any connection the “ancient” days in any fashion. But *sigh* I get it, it’s an old trope where part of the character’s offscreen growth is not having their parent(/s) around.

On a side note there’s quite a few times during the beginning of the movie that somewhat foreshadow what happens to Sunny later. 3 times where she had a fake horn and wings on her. Once in the flashback, then 2 separate times when she’s doing her protest where she has her own costumed wings and horn. As well as the helmet and mechanical wings.

Also, there’s no way around it. Some of the discussions this movie are going to get quite political. (Namely one part of Sunny’s song that could be seen as having a double meaning of a jab at Trumpsts regarding “Building your wall”) From the very premise in the early times, we know that the inspiration for the story was last year’s Black Lives Matter protests. Which honestly, I do support the message they’re going for. Having an anti-racism message to tell kids from the very beginning and making a focus on it is important when in G4 it only got briefly touched upon in Bridle Gossip and the Heath’s Warming Eve play. Although it certainly rose up to some form of prominence with Season 8 and onward. Still, while you can argue if G4 executed the anti-racism message well. it does come with something of a problem that the series finale left Equestria in the least divided it’s ever been.

And personally, I feel it’s a terrible interpretation of time to say “Well, it’s a realistic take. Racism has existed for years in our world. Same should go for the ponies” and while yes, racism is still rampant in today’s world. That said, that ignores that if we went from The Last Problem to the start of G5. There’s a huge difference between our world and Equestria. There is no ancient civilization that we look at like “Yeah, those were the golden days of world peace” when normally the “Golden age” was reserved for the high classes of Ancient Greece or Rome. It was most decidedly not perfect, with slavery rampant and wars for the sake of expanding an empire. While if you look at The Last Problem’s Equestria, you not only have peace between the three main types of ponies. But you literally have non-pony citizens in Equestria. You can see a dragon handing off a flower to a pony which can imply cross-species romantic relations. With the Friendship school still going strong, and was the reason that the world was saved in The Ending of the End. While perhaps it may be too glowing to say that future is perfect for everyone even in-universe. It’s certainly a hell of a lot better outlook then comparing to how we view even the so called Golden age of ancient civilizations. The Last Problem’s Equestria implies it looks to ally with every country outside of Equestria, not conquer them.

So it should still be a valid question on just how this world collapses to the point it gets to where G5 is at the start. I at least assume that it’s not the fault at all of any of the Mane 6 nor Twilight. Or at least I hope it isn’t, as I’d rather the MLP fanbase not have to deal with a The Last Jedi Luke Skywalker situation. (Where after the joyful end of the original trilogy, things go wrong as Luke almost murders the son of one of his best friends and his sister despite trying to hard and succeeding at redeeming his father who at that point in the canon was a galaxy-wide known ruthless mass-murderer.) I assume we’re at a point where everyone of the Mane 6 sans maybe Twilight are presumed dead. And even in Twilight’s case, there’s a chance that G5 decides to say that G4 overestimated the whole Alicorn immortality thing. Though I wouldn’t put it past Hasbro to have some event where the Mane 5 of G5 meet the Mane 6 in some special event whether that’s a a Season finale or a sequel movie/special. Where either the Mane 6 return in a limbo situation similar to the Pillars at the end of Season 7 or Time travel gets involved. They may even string us along on answering just what in the heck happened until they involve a meet-up with the Mane 6 in that way. Though I hope they don’t, I’d really like the beginning of the series (Or I guess this supposed special coming up in Spring supposedly?) starts to answer some questions. G5 should get a chance to stand on it’s own, but I hope the writers are actually well aware there will be so many questions people have and address them in the show. A cynical part of me feels like they’re likely to string us along until at least the Season 1 finale.

Onto the characters for a bit. I think Izzy Moonbow was absolutely the most stand-out character in the whole movie. She was energetic, funny, and aside from “The pegasi are bad news” she along with Zipp and Sunny were the most averse to the way the world was. She was already the most popular due to the tennis ball memes. But now it feels like she legit stands on her own and most certainly deserves to be the most popular character of G5 thus far. Behind her in a bit of a surprise to me was Zipp, who I thought would be mainly a Rainbow Dash-expy. Though she really helps out Izzy and Sunny in Zephyr Heights. Despite having Twilight be my favorite pony from the very beginning of G4 all the way to the end, I didn’t feel as strongly about Sunny for some reason. So she’s in the middle of the pack, she could grow on me later. I just don’t know if I click with her as much as I did with Twilight. As for the last two, while I don’t hate either of them. Either one could be the lowest of the 5 for one reason or another. Pipp (Although I will say she's probably my favorite character design out of the 5) feels like she doesn’t do a whole lot in the movie and it takes until she’s forced to be an outlaw because the other choice was to get imprisoned like her mother was. So she may come off as quite pretentious, though it’s arguable Rarity was the same way early in G4. But she definitely grew later. Could be the same case for Pipp. And as for Hitch, he has shining moments in the film. But what might hurt him is the fact he was such a bad friend to Sunny up until the campfire scene. “I’m the last real friend you have. You really want to lose me too?” is not a healthy friendship. Hitch may have been Sunny’s friend the longest, but it definitely feels like Izzy connected immediately. I don’t know if this show will get into shipping any of the main characters between each other mid-show, but if they do. I hope it’s between Izzy and Sunny currently, cause Hitch and Sunny just gives bad vibes even with Hitch getting better later.

None of the songs I felt were particularly too special. Though I think the closest was Sprout’s “Danger, Danger” song that has similarities to Smells Like Teen Spirit in some parts of the song since I tend towards more rock/metal-esque music.

I touched upon it earlier, but there’s perhaps a stand-out reason for why the G5 movie outdid the 2017 MLP Movie. They have the typical “Our heroic group splits after a sad moment before coming together again for the climatic good end” in Sunny seeing that that the two crystals don’t instantly bring magic back, and when Twilight left the group after an argument that happened with Twilight trying to take a pearl. They perform the same purpose in the movie. But the crystals not working, crushing Sunny’s hope for a little while works better into the story. Where as Twilight’s part frustratingly brought the sea pony scene to an end too quickly and/or doesn’t feel right of Twilight to have done that. It felt forced in the 2017 movie, but works out in the G5 movie. Especially since a part of it is that it’s not the crystals themselves capable of bringing magic back. But it’s the journey going after the crystals that brings the ponies themselves their magic back.

Just a small note on dictator Sprout, he tries to cause a war. Though admittedly the film seems to treat him as a joke the entire time despite his seriously evil ambitions. With the only repercussions is he gets a wishy-washy answer on if he was a good sheriff from his mom. I don’t quite know how I feel about that yet, but I wonder what they’ll have in mind for Sprout given his actions. He and his mom are the only ones that feel like a true antagonist. Though they seem to be ok with things fast when the magic comes back.

But anyway on to the ending, we see that Sunny becomes an Alicorn. Which I guess with no other real Alicorns around, I guess it makes sense to alicornify her since she’s the real leader behind what united the leaders of each type of pony again. Though there is of course this weird thing where her horn and wings don’t seem like as much a part of her body compared to very obvious connected wings on Twilight when she got hers. Sunny keeps her horn and wings to the end of the movie, and has colored streaks in her hair. Though I do wonder if that;s truly permanent. If it is permanent, I suppose at least they got to have a headstart and have it established at the end of the introductory movie rather then have it shock people at the end of a shortened 3rd season. I still feel like Twilight had well earned her alicornhood considering that besides what she did in the series. She has a whole childhood and time as a teenager learning under Celestia. Which had to mean something, and I’m not sure Celestia just leaving her to live the rest of her days with her friends in ponyville was that. Sunny has no doubt been trying countless time to try to spread friendship throughout her life even after the tragedy of her father’s passing. So there’s no doubt she’s been through a lot, and may indeed be worthy of being an Alicorn at this point. Though in terms of screentime before Alicornhood it's definitely a lot less then Twilight had. And it is at least nice to see that it is possible for non-unicorns to become one. (The only case of that we sort of got was a children's book that may or may not be canon that implied Cadence was a pegasus before she ascended)

Though you have to wonder if the visual differences such as Sunny’s alicorn horn and wings, the cutie mark only on one side (Yes I know that’s how it was normally in the MLP generations before G4. But a distinct visual difference between shows is still noticeable even if the context of G4’s cutie marks on both sides of the flank was about it being easier on the puppets for Flash), and how animals can have wings or weird round shapes such as those bunnies when G4 has normal looking animals. There’s enough striking visual differences for any nitpicky G4 to say “This isn’t the same Equestria”. And if someone tries to say maybe some sort of evolution happened. That’s still trying to put a little too much real world logic on this fantasy world. And evolution tends to take millions of years to have such dramatic changes. Not 1000 years or so, there should still be normal looking animals at this point and time. And these small details are probably going to be the things most ignored but nonetheless can build a case that this isn’t the same Equestria. Even if they touch on the important questions like how magic disappeared and what happened to the Mane 6, there will be details they make different that will add to the case that this is it’s own universe if it doesn’t quite matchup with what was remembered about G4. There will be fans who will be that nitpicky to call G5 out of continuity for small details like that. That is again the trap they put themselves in when they decided to try to say it’s the same Equestria.

All-in-all though, I think that’s at least a good enough chunk about my thoughts on the movie to end off here. If there’s something I missed or something from the movie you’d like me to give a particular opinion about or elaborate on something feel free to ask me here. G5 is indeed off to a good start, just I will be along the many hoping some questions get answered sooner then later. And I’m not sure I’m confident in getting anywhere until a Season finale or a 2nd movie. And it’ll be a year before the series starts proper (Though again I guess there’s a 44 minute special coming in Spring to try to hold us over). But I could definitely see G5 finding it's own following, now there's just the inevitable clashes between some of the more vocal fans of each generation bickering at eachother. But hoping there will be enough that take the movie's lessons on divisiveness to heart and be able to enjoy both even if there may be preferences.

I'm sorry my beloved daughter I always thought to myself that we could make it in the end together.. I'm sorry that I force myself to give you a pair of wings instead of a horn that can make magic spells. Which is very useful to anypony who is born with it...

I give you wings because I thought you might fly away from this horrible place,that mommy has to work every day. Of course my boss does give me breaks from working so much, however in this day when they found out that you were exploring the area of my job. One of the nurses or doctors told me that if I don't report my duty as a nurse worker, he would bring some pony else to work with you..

Of course I couldn't say no!! To my boss who sexual abuse me after a couple of months to found out that I was pregnant with you. My beloved daughter I-I was so proud of myself being your mother, a few weeks or so which I couldn't remember how long ago it took me. To realize that they stole you away from me when I wasn't able to tell you the truth, that I've kept a secret from him. I believe it's been a year that my boss who is your father. Which is the truth my beloved daughter I never found ture love, I never found a boyfriend in my life.
