hey there !!<3 i'm so glad you enjoyed the hcs (´｡• ᵕ •｡`) ♡ your wish is my command so lets get into it! also this has slight angst ! i like to think of aventurine as a really touchy guy as soon as he gets comfy enough around you. in public he'll act all confident, throwing an arm around you while flashing a cocky smile to anybody who looks at you two, while in private he'll just bury his head in your chest as you play with his hair. it took him a while to let his guard down, to actually stop acting like the 'big strong and confident man' around you. but as soon as he did he'll be the clingiest thing ever, always trying to make you stay in bed for a bit longer, being scared that you maybe won't return some day. but you always do, you always come back to him and embrace him in your arms. as i mentioned earlier, he'll always have an arm around you, so he can just pull you into a hug whenever he wants. he'd always press a kiss to your forehead before he lets you go. (can you tell i like forehead kisses) but your lips are one of his favorite things about you, sometimes brushing over them with his thumb before chuckling and then giving you a quick peck. if it's a deeper kiss, he'll always cup your face with both hands, again not letting you go. i feel like aventurine is the type to not move at all while sleeping, so if he's spooning you, you're gonna have to get used to sleeping on one side the entire night. don't underestimate the strength he has in those arms. this man loves laying on your stomach while you're on your phone or doing anything really, one hand in his hair. other times he'll let you sleep on his lap instead, but instead of being on his phone or whatever he'd just admire your sleeping state/you in general. already speaking about laps, he loves it when you sit on his lap and hug him really tightly, because he'll hug you right back. burying his head in your neck, basically inhaling your scent. this man will kiss every single part of your body, no matter how much you hate a specific part of your body. you're insecure about your stomach?? he'll kiss and compliment till you're a blushing and smiling mess. don't like your face? again he'll kiss it, compliment it and squish it while giving you the sweetest smile ever. his voice always goes so soft whenever he speaks to you. Aventurine E4 Analysis

Time for me to cook since I've been gone for a few days!

Starting off with the title. Unexpected Hanging Paradox. The title comes from the paradox of the same name, introduced in 1963 by Martin Gardner. It's also known as the surprise examination paradox or the prediction paradox. This already has to do with Aventurine's character because he is trying to predict all the stakes before going into a gamble as I said in the E5 Analysis.

The paradox is about "a person's expectations about the timing of a future event which they are told will occur at an unexpected time" and is usually applied to a prisoner's hanging or less commonly a pop quiz. The description is normally pretty long but I have a shortened version.

"A prisoner is told that he will be hanged on some day between Monday and Friday, but that he will not know on which day the hanging will occur before it happens. He cannot be hanged on Friday, because if he were still alive on Thursday, he would know that the hanging will occur on Friday, but he has been told he will not know the day of his hanging in advance. He cannot be hanged Thursday for the same reason, and the same argument shows that he cannot be hanged on any other day. Nevertheless, the executioner unexpectedly arrives on some day other than Friday, surprising the prisoner".

Even though it's shortened it's still pretty long! Here's the full one if anybody wants to read.

Anyways, I've only been talking about the paradox and not analyzing it at all so let me get to that. The prisoner tries to predict the outcome of an unknown and comes to a confident conclusion, but still ends up being surprised! This can be applied to a lot of bets and gambles in general, once again tying into Aventurine's character.

I also think that the fact they used this name of the paradox specifically refers to Aventurine's 'death' as well.

Now enough yapping about philosophy, time for the photo.

The E4 usually features the character looking past the camera or with their eyes closed and showcasing an emotion close to their character. However it seems Aventurine is looking directly (or almost directly) at the camera. As in most of his other eidolons, his hand is covering part of his body and/or his face is partially obscured. In this case, both!

He's holding his hat and has a confident looking expression on his face, which is at least the expression he wants to commune to us. The way he looks directly at the camera could mean he wants us to see him and how he's feeling. He wants us to think he's confident but really he's hiding his true feelings and his cards by obscuring himself.

I think Aventurine being a master planner is fun. But I think its way funnier if he has no plan and just trusts his luck that it'll all work out in the end. Like he just has to make crazy plays and after the fact when everything's fine he's like "yes, all according to plan

i just know that aventurine would show you off so much. he would take any opportunity to talk about you to topaz or other IPC employees, always bragging with how good you look and how nice you are to him.

sometimes he‘d catch low rank IPC workers staring at a picture of you, talking about how they‘d give anything to get a chance with you. „whatcha lookin‘ at?“ he asked peeking over their shoulders as they quickly try to hide the phone. but he knew already, threatening them to lower their pay or even get them fired if he catches them again.

aventurine would also get you a bracelet or necklace with the aventurine stone in it. even if it didn’t match your outfit or your looks in general, he‘d be overjoyed to see you wear it anyway.

he loves it when you sit next to him at the poker table, watching him win round after round. your hands would always be on his right hand under the table to remind him that he has nothing to be worried about. (if you know, you know) after each round he‘d give you a kiss on the forehead, not only to upset the person on the other side of the table even more, but again to just pour all his love onto you. (it also calms him a little but he‘d never admit it)
