I'm suddenly reminded again how pissed off I still am about Sasha Braus on Attack on Titan.
Will we EVER get any justice for that fucking stunt? Or for how that stupid ending just glossed over all the characters who were killed for no reason at all in the end?
Yeah I'm still angry at the ending, at season four, and the final 48 chapters of Attack on Titan, none more so than everything from Assassin's Bullet onward. So many offensive scenes associated with Isayama's determined effort to abuse and obliterate one character for his own sick games. Hajime Isayama is a truly impressive kind of asshole, because what he did...........A fucking nightmare that actually did come true.
I still dream of the day where I spit on his work right in front of his face.
And oh yeah, fuck Gabi Braun, if she has any remaining fans here, sorry not sorry. She's an overplayed, OP bitch. And so is her big brother Eren Yeager.
Yeah seeing images of that one moment in anime that left you bitter like few others have will bring some pretty hateful memories back to the surface.

Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha, Sasha.......
Sasha Motherf'ing Braus. God it hurts. Every freaking day.
There is no Attack on Titan without Sasha.
Tumblr media
Also worthy of mention.......

And people still think Hajime Isayama gave his female leads anything resembling a fair shake? I think there's plenty of evidence to the contrary there, with the aforementioned just barely scratching the surface. 👎
They all deserve a second lease on life.
i miss them (fictional character i think about literally every single day)

I'm honestly sooo pissed at Isayama for not giving us more geo-politics at least as raw information and not necessarily as part of the plot
Like, she clearly see Marley had two continents and was making it's way unto the third when at war with the mid-east alliance . But also what's that on the left? THEY HAVE THE AMERICAS TOO!!?!
Is all of "Europe" part of the mid-east alliance??
Also, fan the colossals swim faster than they can walk? Because otherwise it wouldn't make sense why 80% of the world is dead if you account a radius from Paradis going in all directions

Attack on Titan has writing and character writing flaws and that makes me sad.
Ok this has been on my mind for a while and I need to throw up somewhere.
Leaving aside the brutal universe of Aot, I think the main characters in this universe have a really toxic relationship with each other. Of course, that's not surprising in a series with this kind of world plot. But what I mean is that even characters who are in alliances with each other, who have friendships, who have romantic relationships, they don't act in a healthy way towards each other. And the fandom either pretends it didn't happen, ignores it or romanticizes it
However, one of the things that I find strange and puzzling about the series is that the strong characters in the series are not strong because of their own efforts, but because of the extraordinary powers they have gained, such as Mikasa and Levi. With the information we got from the recent interview, it seems to have been concluded that Mikasa is now "bad at sports" and by the finale she has become an average woman. As for Levi, the BadBoy spin off also made it clear that if the kid Levi's powers hadn't awakened, he would have been killed by the guys who beat him up.
Apart from Mikasa, the other example of a strong woman is Annie. Annie is the only strong female character we see in the series who has trained herself naturally from a young age without "extraordinary powers". She specializes in martial arts, technique. She is good at self-protection. In Lost Girls, where she shows her skills in detail, she is someone who has defeated average, untrained men in a bar. But I question whether she would have gotten a double kill like Mikasa if she had faced a man with the same strength or a strong trained man, or if there were several of them, not just one.
I mean, Isayama knows that female characters in particular are a bit inferior to men in terms of physical strength, and he gets out of this dead end by adding unusual biological superhero powers to female characters along with other male characters and somehow manages to cover it up well. And no analysic, no fan questions this.
I'm an illustrator, but I'm also a person who likes to create characters, writing the scripts and stories of the characters I create in the corners of my notebooks. I've been in this fandom for a long time and aot is one of the series that inspired me. I loved the world-building so much that I even created a character for it. But over time, when I realized that there were writing flaws in this series (I started to see its flaws especially because I was hanging out in other fandoms), I realized that if you want to place a character (oc as you call it) in that world and make it important and powerful, you need to add superman powers, especially if this character is a woman, because even if you train yourself, you are no different from an ordinary npc. Aot tells you this directly. If you don't have superpowers or you're not strong, you're not special and you don't have an important function in the series.
Or are you shipping your character after a canon character? Don't expect any kind of loyal loving relationship dynamics because you will find similar scenarios where they will leave you to die to fulfill their mission or purpose even if you don't want to. Aot really leaves no room for imagination.

Do you folks think Isayama appreciates what he wasted with Sasha? Scenes like this show she could be a truly effective warrior and her unusual tactics and fast reflexes made her a valuable wild card in the fight against the Titans. And yet we NEVER got the scene of her taking out a Titan singlehandedly.
No. Instead she's used as a plot device for a thinly disguised "replacement" who nobody likes even before the events of Assassin's Bullet (Chapter 105, for those of you who forgot when this travesty unfolded) and even her last words are relegated to one last gag instead of something that pays more respect to who she was.
She is more than just "Potato Girl". She is Sasha Braus, a character too good to have been abused by Isayama in the way she was. Something much greater here was lost because this bastard put his energy in the wrong places.
If you're somehow still at a loss as to why I have spent years venting about this, recall scenes like this and that time she saved Kaya all by herself. Or just any time where she put her best foot forward no matter how scared she might've been.
There is no Attack on Titan without Sasha.

Watching AOT Season Four....
Okay, this should be interesting I hope.
Let me ask y'all, just to get your insight. I presume most of you here have watched The Final Season from start to finish, questionable CGI with the overrated SiM soundtrack and everything...so tell me so I know. Just from what you all know from my past posts and comments....
What would you consider to be the most tolerable and least offensive episode of Season Four?
Tumblr media
Like I've not watched a full episode of AOT in years so which one is probably the most watchable based on my past comments?
I should at least recognize most of them by their titles alone, tell me what you think actually stands a chance with me.
Since y'all think this psychological endurance test is such a masterpiece.
And Heaven help anyone who suggests the obvious one out of the lot....

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lol aot has a lot of writing issues imo and some of the politics i find very messy and i think u can always come for it about the execution as well as how certain elements are integrated but i personally was always pretty ??? at some of the more extreme allegations i hear thrown at it in terms of its thematic core because it is hilariously and almost embarrassingly unsubtle about a lot of its messages. i also think people who try to read it as a 1:1 direct allegory for any conflict instead of something fictional that burrows elements from all over history (for better or worse) to convey its themes are gonna run into a lot of contradictions. and even the author was legitimately shocked at some of those interpretations (like early on the one claiming that the text was endorsing japanese militarisation while the titans represented china and north and south korea)
i think it should be engaged with critically and i think it fails at many things but im just glad that the 100% fascist chad eren dicksucker part of its fanbase was completely alienated by an ending that accentuated just how pathetic and childish he is

Historia Reiss EASILY could’ve carried the whole series, or one of her own by herself......There was more than enough there for an even greater saga that could compete with Eren’s.
But instead we got:

Talk about your wasted potential. Isayama essentially gave up on her.

Did you ever notice that Marco was hiding right here listening to Reiner and Bertholdt?
Tumblr media
I thought it couldn't get any worse!! Marco was supposed to be a smart character! Isayama did him dirty!!!
At this point I wouldn't doubt if Reiner revealed himself thinking about how Marco did it first and unfortunately paid for it... 🤔

I see Eren...
I have a question as a humble anon. Im curious but, how do you feel about him as a character? And how AOT ended? I feel like your answer will be fun to hear. :) I had mixed feelings but idk. Seeing him made go "oh no" because like, I forgot the existed, lol sorry but also because of all the infighting that happened in the fandom. So I was wondering if you had any thoughts?
*ignore my typos if there's any
SUBJECT MATTER: OOC talks / fandoms // sender: anonymous // status--always open!
Tumblr media
{{ Oof. Okay, so--I think I'm not the best person to ask about this because when THAT happened in the fandom, I was highly confused as to why people hated it. I legit didn't understand. I had to go back and re-read the manga and I still didn't understand why people were pissed? But looking back on it, I can see it. Before I continue on that point, I'll answer you:
I adore Eren. He's my poor little meow meow. My smol angry husbando. He's a complex, traumatized, aggressive, violent fucker. I love him. Many of my current muses are on the spectrum of 'ready for violence for whatever reason'. I think it's okay to like him. Folks don't owe you a ten page essay rife with sources as to why they like or don't like a character. Moral judgements shouldn't be made about what piece of fiction someone engages with; you're not their parent and shaming isn't cool, whether you're fine with what they like or not. Very rarely will you change their mind, and instead of blocking them/moving on, you're just making yourself upset/creating an unsafe/unwelcomed environment from those who think and engage with the source material differently from you. Putting the rest under a read more because spoiler territory.
With that said, the ending was fine--I quite liked it! It's tragic and sad for sure, but I had no illusions about Attack on Titan ending horrifically. It's a dark fantasy story that began with what's left of humanity defending itself from flesh-eating monsters picking them off one by one. If . . . you thought a story like that would have a happy ending (or would have romance in it--a complaint I saw in many, many places), I have to ask why. Why is that where your mind is when there's death and destruction on every page? Then the plot twist--Titans are actually people, and they were created and planted in strategic places around the world because of [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS]. It's so fucked. You'd be lucky if your favorite character survived to the END. (Which, didn't happen for me. As I said, Eren gets love around here because I adore how layered he is. I did mourn another character who died earlier, though. And Eren's response to her fate broke my heart; yet another thing the fandom twisted around and made into something it's not). Point is--there is no real 'moral lesson' to AOT. It's a dark story made to entertain. The theme is "senseless violence begets senseless violence". It's funny because I was talking about this recently with the Eren I write with (@scarlxtleaves). Isayama himself in many interviews stated he just made it because he wanted to. Many times he was pressed for an answer and that's what he kept saying. There was one interview I remember where he did give a 'proper' answer (a generic answer about hope/optimism/determination, I think? Don't quote me on that), but it was because he was pressed for one--as if people couldn't just take him at his word. It's a bit sad, honestly. Not everything needs to be so deep--which brings me back to the fandom.
I think many people took the ending out of context, Eren out of context and used the manga as a way to attack Isayama. Many people were upset their ships didn't happen, some felt betrayed that Eren turned out be the ultimate villain/antagonist, some even went as far to send him hate mail, tell him his manga was horrible, that he should d*e, etc etc. Again, in hindsight, I understand all of this. I got whiplash too. 😂 I was like "for real??????? Y'all deadass rn???? Someone say SIKE" but nope, that's who he was--which encouraged me to reread and rewatch EVERYTHING. It all clicked and I went "how the hell did we not see this?!" 😭 So yeah, I get that Eren doing the Rumbling is extreme--but that's the point, he's BEEN that extreme since chapter and episode 1. We just didn't pay attention and thought he was bluffing. That's not the character's fault. And it doesn't mean he's written badly. He's not.
We just thought he wasn't gonna stand on business. Eren Yeager stood on that shit, 10 toes down. Genocide IS extreme (it always is, no doubt about it--and I'm not a fan of those who call Eren fans/appreciators genocide apologists because whoa??? Buddy, it's not that serious???? Again, we're not in school, we're not getting tested for morality or what have you, please take a chill pill. You're NOT getting a medal for being more moral or 'gooder' of a human than me because of . . . what character I like??????), but I get it. Don't blindly cheer him on but also: AOT Earth is NOT equivalent with our Earth. The cast is dealing with abnormal situations that we don't (people turning into giant weapons/human eating monsters, a government conspiracy to continue using SAID monsters, a even more secret plan by multiple world governments/nations to wipe out a defenseless island of people who have NO direct connection with the vile Empire that spawned them, etc etc). So if you're gonna put Eren on a crucifix, put the Marleyan government on that shit first. They LITERALLY are the reason why Eren's mom (and many innocent people) died/became mindless killers (the Titans), which made him want to kill them all in the first place. Put Grisha Yeager on that shit too, because he was a deadbeat ass father who ONLY had Eren just to pass on the Attack and Founding Titans BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD HIM TO. He's the same thing as Gaara's father from Naruto. Same reasons why they had their youngest sons. EXACT SAME. Unlike Rasa, Grisha never apologized to Eren. Not once for bringing him into such a cruel world, not once for forcing the Titan serum on him, not EVEN for SHORTENING HIS LIFESPAN (Eren would die at 23 or until someone else killed/ate him for his Titan powers), none of it. Annie, Reiner, Berthold--they BROKE. The wall. And allowed the Smiling Titan in--the same one that ate Eren's. Mom. Like, c'mon now!

@abbyslev Five years on, and I’m still mad as hell about it. It’s something that has severely affected me in the worst way possible. And seeing it animated only further seared the wound. I cannot and will not ever let it go. I only wish for it all to be undone and to be nothing but a bad memory, Titan was ruined the moment Sasha was taken out of the picture.
There is no Attack on Titan without Sasha Braus. I will take that all the way to the top, given the chance.
never forgiving isayama for ripping sasha away from me like it was nothing

careful fear and dead devotion
"Just look at me," she says, framing his face in her hands. "Nowhere else." [eremika, ch 138]
a/n: tumblr keeps devouring the formatting. you can also find this fic on ao3 or ffnet.
The cabin, he must have built with his hands. There is a ford, and a well from which he draws water. Beyond the mountains there's just the horizon.
She follows him inside when he bids her. He keeps closer than usual to her, as he fixes dinner—rice and the mushrooms he'd picked. When she looks at his face, boyish, there's unbroken skin.
He smells of sweat and dirt and when his arms encircle her waist, pulling her to him, he presses his nose into her hair and hums. This world is theirs. Anything is possible.
Tumblr media
It used to bother him, when they were trainees and she would shadow him during ODM gear sessions. She was simply following the instructor's techniques, she'd say. If he were serious about joining any military branch, he had to practice until he stopped making mistakes. She offered to help him, but he'd always find Armin or Annie or someone else who did not ever hold him as he woke up, trembling.
At fifteen, all he had was his boyish pride, and her and Armin. He'd never be too cruel. There were words and deeds, and those you couldn't undo with an apology or years of silence and patience. At fifteen, she had nothing to her name but the clothes on her back, and his mother's promise. If he injured himself, she'd do whatever it took to get him medicine. Her score was high enough. She'd join the Military Police and send money back to him, and even if he complained about it he'd have no choice but to understand.
Tumblr media
Each time he bursts from the Titan's nape, covered in blood, all that matters is his safety. He turns away from her, the way he used to when Corporal Levi visited his holding cell, but he doesn't speak of nightmares as he used to. She's always been here for him, the same as Armin has.
Now, buried in the throat of this Titan, he leads this death march to the ends of the earth, and it is still Eren, no longer the boy she loved. From his corpse, facsimiles of old comrades and enemies are begotten and destroyed. An endless well of creation, blurring the lines between order and fantasy.
Nothing will stay her hand.
Tumblr media
They eat in silence, and when he stands, his eyes glint in the twilight. There is a weight in his eyes, and ever since the Queen's coronation he has become unreachable, a stranger with Eren's eyes and smell and voice. Eradicating the titans, to their enemy on the other side of the ocean.
He's trembling, on the cusp of whatever has been eroding him during those ten months abroad. He stands, walks over as if to take her plate, hesitates. "I'm sorry, Mikasa. I wanted to keep you safe but I couldn't."
She reaches out and touches his wrist, warm and solid. He does not snap, or push her away. His eyes narrow, looking at a point beyond her shoulder, and there's a set to his jaw that he's kept since ten years old. Tears spring to her eyes but do not fall.
"Whatever it is you have to do," he says quietly, brushing her hand away, taking her plate, "I don't hate you for it."
He maintains distance, moving to the kitchen counter. He stops in-place.
"I've been such a piece of shit to you." A catch enters his voice, corrodes his composure. "I should've been taking care of you, and—"
"Eren."
The chair squeaks against hardwood. On her feet, she closes the distance between them in uncertain strides, until she's able to reach out and touch his naked forearm. He flinches, spins around. His face crumples, as if he's about to cry. She looks into his eyes, past the agony within to the same boy, covered in blood, grasping the hilt of the knife.
Her wrist prickles.
"You don't have to fight anymore." She wraps her arm around his broad back. "I'm here."
Tumblr media
In Marley, he smelt like beer and his lips parted on a slow intake of breath as she pressed her mouth over his. He'd groped for her wrists, didn't push her away but didn't kiss back, just breathing slowly against her lips. Her heart in her throat, she broke away first. Shut her eyes against the hot sting of tears, because what had she expected? He'd never called her sister, or asked why she referred to his mother as Aunt Karla. He would protect her with his life, but not beg for her exoneration, the way he did Annie's.
This tenuous thread of trust between them, she'd had to rebuild since reaching the basement of his childhood home, since losing Hannes, Reiner and Bertholdt, each loss in his stead widened the rift between them. Her stomach twisted at the thought of the day where no affection could reach him, when he'd shut out the world and engulf himself within that unknowable burden of his father's inheritance.
She wasn't Annie, or Historia or his half-brother. She could kill a hundred Titans but she couldn't defend him from despair.
Maybe he wasn't the only one who was tired. It would be nice sometimes, if he stopped to notice her and Armin and be a little considerate. She could wait, for him she would always wait, but not forever.
He stared, hazy and indolent. "You don't have to be strong all the time," he said, a slow-dawning smile. "Not for me. I would never ask you to be."
Tumblr media
No matter what his Titan is capable of, there are limitations to a mortal body. Despite his heart's inclinations, despite her Ackerman genes, neither can move mountains for the other. It's just a figure of speech, a child's wishful hyperbole.
They lie together on the small bed, and it's enough just to look at him as he is, not entombed within hemic tissue, burning alive. He cups her face. His thumb brushes the scar along her cheek, and he's present, unwavering, in a way he has not been since Shiganshina.
He doesn't tense up when she presses her hand to his nape. The shape of his mouth thins, fighting against whatever self-imposed transgression kept him company. His eyes glimmer in the crimson light beyond the window.
Mikasa does not look. She has seen sunset many times before. She will only see him once.
Tumblr media
The Titan's mouth hangs open, inert.
His hair falls limply into his face, caked with dry blood. His body has melted away from the neck down, leaving only the spinal cord. The Founder's bloody tissue wraps around what remains like a cord of rope, lacerations hewn into his jaw and temples. His nostrils flare at her approach. His eyelids flicker, as though sleeping.
She raises the blade.
Tumblr media
"Just look at me," she says, framing his face in her hands. "Nowhere else."
