there is a sense of immense eeriness and isolation in the main office itself, the empty halls and unmoved areas of lived in spaces. But I don’t think it measures to the sheer emptiness of looking through the windows in the escape pod ending just to see it dark and empty. Like at least Stanley (and in some ways, The Narrator) was a present force in the office to where it wasn’t completely as lifeless as it could be. But to be the one viewing it when you were the only one in it is like—I’m not really sure how to describe the feeling. It’s just empty. An environment devoid of its ecosystem. A haunted space waiting to be lived in. And you were the only one to fill that void.

the progression of ashton convincing manipulating fearne into agreeing to let him take on the fire shard, kissing her right before she gives him the fire shard, essentially dying almost ten times in the span of a minute while fearne and f.c.g. dump healing magic into him to keep him alive, ashton exploding at one point saved only by a ring that was not meant for him initially, and then finally stabilizing after losing an arm, an ear, and a chunk of his shoulder...i don't think a kick to the head is enough

with my phantom hourglass replay, there are two things i noticed;

a possible theme you could glean from the game is action vs inaction, and i think it's especially prevalent before you even leave mercay the first time, with oshus frequently urging link to not go after the ghost ship, then to just wait until the broken bridge is fixed, and seems reluctant at every turn while link and ciela are more than eager to go and do something about this problem, and the people of mercay in general talking about things and their problems but never seeming to act on their fears or desires, as well as the mention that due to the ghost ship, very very few people are still sailing around, while linebeck is one of the only people we see in the game actively going after the ghost ship and still sailing around. i might make a longer post just talking more about the action vs inaction in phantom hourglass but i just noticed it a bit and thought it was a bit of an interesting sort of theme you could find in the game.

linebeck moves so fucking much. i think he moves more than any npc in the rest of the game. not just in his intro cutscene where he is very animated, just in how much he moves when just standing in his little idle post, it's damn near distracting when the camera is focused on him, he moves a lot. i don't think i've really acknowledged how much he moves, and it really gives the impression that he's antsy or eager to get going, both of which fit him pretty well with how he acts.

This is not what he says in the sub at all, unless there was a mistranslation I don't know enough Japanese to have picked up on. Wolfwood says something like, "You can't hurt him!" if I'm remembering correctly, obviously referring to the fact that he needs to escort Vash in order to fulfill the contract and save his and Livio's orphanage--their home. (Or what Wolfwood sees as their home.)

But this. If it was a change made on purpose. What is Wolfwood referring to? What event had Livio acting like this before? Who had Livio acting like this before?

And then isn't it all the more heartbreaking that Wolfwood's about to be the one to hurt him?
